Serious authentic mexican food. Loved it. My friends and I were all pleased we finally tried it. Enchiladas were fantastic and the ambiance was great. Highly recommend and we will all definitely be back.

Very slow service - it took about 45 minutes to get our food. This was by far the worst Mexican food we've had, and we go out for Mexican at least weekly. Food was very bland. I ordered a side of guacamole and got sliced avocado (that was the tastiest part of the meal!) The music was so loud we couldn't have a conversation. We only are about half our meals, and weren't offered boxes (but wouldn't have taken it home anyway). Should have left right away when we were seated at a table that wasn't clean, he picked up the garbage and didn't wipe down the table.

La Michoacana has to be in my top two Mexican joints in the valley. With a new location on College Avenue that gets clubby (club-like?) at night, it's still a great place for dinner. I ordered the enchiladas verde - spicier than typical, but very tasty - and my companion, after being kindly guided through the difference between a sopa and a gordita by our waitress, had a beef sopa and a taco. Everything excellent, including the salsa that comes while you wait. We were drawn to the place via Groupon but I've been itching to go back. $20 for a very filling dinner for two people, plus leftovers on the enchiladas.

Stopped in for lunch. Should have taken it as a sign that the place was empty at noon on a Friday in downtown Appleton. For starters the bean dip with the chips and salsa had a very odd color and flavor that was not at all appetizing. I ordered a chimichanga and my husband ordered a gordita and a taco. There were no sides accompanied with the orders at a similar price as other area Mexican restaurants. My chimichanga was the worst. The tortillas did not seem fried at all. The few and far between pieces of chicken were weird little pieces that seemed processed. It was topped with what tasted like cheap tomato sauce from a can. Our soda tasted soapy. On a good note my husband said the chorizo taco wasn't bad and the waitress was friendly and attentive.

walked in, place was - at most-1/4th full at 12 noon in Downtown Appleton, I sat myself at a table, waited 20 minutes before Server acknowledged me, then waited an additional 10 minutes before being given a menu, which was dirty and had food stains on it. The stars were aligning for me to get the hell out of there....So I walked out. I don't think it's fair to give a restaurant one-star without trying the food. But obviously, this was a bad experience that needs to be acknowleged

I was our in Appleton with my in-laws when we decided to grab some lunch-luckily the first place we stopped was not open because it prompted us to go to La Michoacana Mexican Bar & Grill (Newly located @ 211 W. Caollege Ave in a GORGEOUS building!) for what was hands down the BEST Mexican food the 3 of us have ever had-and we have had a lot! My in-laws are from Miami and we all could not get over how delicious the food was, how great the prices were (we tipped over 50% because we were given so much for what little we paid!) how large the portions were (we went home with 4 boxes!) and how wonderfully friendly every employee was! I am not going to lie, there was a point when all this great tasting food was on the table that all I could do was sit and stare, even a little choked up not knowing what to eat next! (granted I am very pregnant and perhaps a bit emotional and excited by food right now-but still-I cannot say that has ever happened to me at a restaurant before :) Do yourself a favor and eat there the next time you go out for lunch/dinner...you will love it! They said they will be opening it up as a night club after 9pm as well with different themed nights and all sorts of yummy drinks-I'll be sure to try that out in a few more months! I'm excited to have another amazing place to eat and hang out in the Appleton area! PS. You have to ask for their guacamole...it is fresh made to order and rivals even the best homemade guacamole out there!!!

Went in for drinks and app (ie margarita and chips and salsa). Once I saw the margarita fountain ringed with neon green slime, I knew not to order the "house margarita." My husband ordered a bottle of Pacifico but they were out. We ordered guacamole and salsa with our chips. The guac was watery and bland, and we were informed they were OUT of salsa! What Mexican restaurant runs out of salsa at 5 on a Saturday night?

Food is great, but the service is atrocious. Waitress ignored us for the first 20 minutes and it took them 45 minutes to bring us chips and salsa. Very sad since the food is good and well-priced.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
