Today at Good Company, my meal earned the restaurant a clean 5 star rating. Not only because the steak I had was juicy and succulent, but because it was juicy and succulent on a night when the restaurant was unreasonably busy. Outstanding stuff. Exceptional atmosphere, and good food.

Had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. We're in the state of cheese, but the nachos were covered with processed, canned cheese that you could get a high school basketball game. The tortellini was something I could have EASILY made at home, and it would have been cheaper and tasted better. The sauce on the noodles tasted like a plain white sauce with a meager amount of cheese thrown in. Nothing was hot. I will not be visiting this establishment again. This was anything but Good Company. The best part of the evening was watching all the high schoolers attempting to walk in super high heels while attending dinner on their homecoming dance night.

I like this place because you always know what you're going to get. It's good food, not great. Not a place I would go for steaks, but their pasta dishes and sandwiches are good. Their Mexican menu and salads are good as well. A good way to put it is that it's one step up from Applebees.

My husband keeps telling me how good this place is but I am beginning to question his taste. Went there for lunch one day. Not impressed! DON'T ORDER SALAD!!! It is definitely NOT their strong suit. I could have got a cheaper and better tasting salad at McDonalds. Really! I told the hostess when paying the bill about how shitty it was. Got an apology and a 'I'll check into it' but that was it. If you like to drink and eat greasy bar food this is probably your kind place. I know I am never going there again.

This placer is a staple. When I was on my college visit during HS the football coach took my family and I here. The ambiance is cool with multi levels of charm. The food is above average but I never left without feeling satisfied. Just stick to the basics--burgers, fries, sandwiches. This isn't the place to get fish or pastas. Great for groups.

Let's start with the positive. Great atmosphere, very roomy, friendly staff, reasonably priced, and a big menu with lots to choose from (this could be good or bad depending on your preference.) Now for the bad. I have been here many many times in my 14 years in Appleton. It has always just been okay. It has never blown my socks off. There has never been an item I just had to go back for! There is a company that owns this restaurant along with several others in Appleton, one being Beefeaters, and another I think is Pullmans. I went to Beefeaters a couple of months ago and one of my favorite thinks about both Beefeaters and Good Company was their cheesy garlic mashed potatoes. Well I was VERY disappointed when I was served boxed/dehydrated mashed potatoes. They were awful! I was hoping this was isolated to Beefeaters but when my husband and I went to eat at Good Company last night, the same thing! Boxed Mashed potatoes!! Are you kidding me?? If I wanted boxed potatoes I could have purchased them for .99 cents at walmart and made them at home (not that I would even eat them at home!) Also I ordered the chimichanga and it was soggy, if I wanted it soggy I would have ordered a burrito, a chimichanga is suppose to be crispy! I don't think I will be going back to either of these restaurants. :(

This place is nightmare. And it doesn't matter what kind of bad reviews they get because their formula will always win: common cheap bland plastic looking food, young poorly trained servers, all housed in a trendy and very well maintained environment. It reminds me that so many people just don't care about food... especially their head chef (if they have one).

I am so disappointed with this restaurant. There is something to be said in good customer service, I did not experience that today. I ordered to go, didn't get part of my order so I called back was supposed to get it fixed, plus a little extra free of charge. So I bring home my fries excited thinking at least they will be fresh. No old French fries that have obviously been sitting around. It's not that difficult to make fresh fries, and as a customer I think it's very rude. I plan to never return because this is not the first time I've had problems with service.

Good Company, an Appleton exclusive restaurant. Good Company is ok, the atmosphere is nice but the food isn't anything special. They're menu is almost too big, they offer Italian, burgers, sandwiches, and Mexican.... The food just seems random

  • Jacob T.

I think a previous poster summed it up best when she said that her family has been going there for so long even though the food is not "out of this world good". This is a place people go to when they are in a rut or afraid to try something new. It's "better than nothing". It's the same obligatory Amer-Mex-Ital food you can get anywhere. Nothing stands out. It's a shame because the building itself is beautiful. If they put as much creativity into their food as they do the atmosphere they may last another 10yrs.

Broke a golden rule.... Read the Yelp reviews as I was sitting in the restaurant!!! There is a reason that after 42 reviews this place gets a 2.5! The few points might be for semi quick service or the cool atmosphere but I would be surprised if it is the food! I had below average "loaded" potato soup... Warm (at best)and a few lumps of potato and some fake bacon bits. Bland and blah. My Rueben simply sucked! The sandwich was only warm enough to slightly melt the cheese. The meat was processed sliced corned beef... No flavor at all except the thousand island sauce and toasted bread! Too bad, this seems like it could be a fun place to eat. The staff should have some pep to make the décor. Our waitress brought no enthusiasm to the table whatsoever. She would have fit in better at the local diner slinging hash. Everything about Good Company is lukewarm... the staff, the soup and the sandwich.

Would have been one star but for the server and a decently flavored French Onion soup. You're better off slapping a sauce of choice on a piece of cardboard and then not finishing that delectable morsel. Oh, and drop $65 into the till while you're at it. We ordered the seafood platter and a full rack of ribs. Our appetizer was the cheesy potato skins. We also received a side salad with Caesar dressing and the aforesaid French Onion soup. First out came the potato skins. Fried skins with lots of cheese (at least they were as advertised) with a few chunks of bacon on each skin. The recurring them here will be the lack of seasoning. The skins lacked any flavor but sour cream did accompany the dish. There was also too much grease left on the plate. Ok, as far as skins go, but nothing makes me want to pay for them again. We brought these home, we can doll them up later. The side salad and soup came out next. The dressing was great, not sure if it is made on site, doubt it, I'll tell you why later, but the salad was average. Fresh on top, not so much after that. The French Onion soup needed to be under the broiler for a longer time. The cheese was melted but there was not crisp to it at all. The saving grace was that the broth and onions were very good. Both main courses were consistently dull. The seafood platter featured cod, perch, and shrimp. My guess is that each one came from a box, already prepared. None had a flavor associated with the breading. Each had a minimal amount of flavor from the meat. Somewhere along the line, the meat was frozen. Ordinarily, the fries on the plate wouldn't merit any consideration. But, as we tried to find any seasoning this evening, we were reduced to searching the fries for any sprinkling. I found seasoning here, on one side of one fry. That tells me that they do sprinkle the fries with seasoning, but some lazy cook couldn't even toss the fries properly. The other main course was the full rack of ribs. I ordered coleslaw instead of fries. The coleslaw had no seasoning. I tried to make it more interesting, but it wasn't happening. The best part of coleslaw is after it sits with seasoning, it takes time for the flavor to permeate the whole slaw. No way could I do that at the table. The ribs had no flavor on the meat. They were cooked well enough, totally fall off the bone, but another mouthful of bland meat wasn't cutting it. The BBQ sauce was good, but again, no seasoning is a let down when paying so much for food that I could fail to season in my own home. I had to ask the server, knowing the answer, if there was a chef. There isn't, just a kitchen manager. You guys need to hire a chef to overhaul these dishes and get some flavor into your food. That's the bottom line. I feel like a fool for paying you $65 (including the tip) dollars for food that was marginally better than McDonalds. I agree with the post that the menu is too large. You can't be everything to everyone.

Cheese curd sucks! Food is so slow. We were there for 2 hrs. The place wasnt busy at all! Cheese curd wasnt cooked long enough. How can you make bad cheese curd??? Greens in salad wasnt fresh. You can tell it old. I ordered fish fry. It was alright fish fry. Not good nor bad. I dont live in appleton.

Meh. My family and I came here for lunch one afternoon. Basic American fare. The prices are reasonable and the appetizers are better than the entrees! The service was fine but I can barely remember who our waiter or waitress was. I would have to say the hot liquor drinks (in winter) and the gummy worm dirt cup drink for kids was the highlight, as well as local lore that the joint is haunted. Lol

Haven't been to Good Co in a few years. Wife and I were in town to see some friends and decided to try it again. To start server was not friendly, not rude just not friendly. I had the lasagna, which was not bad, sauce tasted like it was from a can. My wife had the cod dinner and it actually tasted worse than vandekamps that you buy in the supermarket. Atmosphere is the same as 20 years ago. Not sure will be back.

the last time went here it was ok the staff was good but thing I don't like is so dimly Lit that that I could hardly see my menu I don't like that

  • Steven M.

The food is okay, the servers are usually nice to us, and I love the little library room, but that's about it. The food almost always makes one of us sick. Any time you're in a bathroom stall too long, the automatic lights go out and you're sitting there in the dark, which is just unsettling because there is NO light. And I recently had a young lady come to me in tears telling me that the people who work here were laughing and making fun of her based on her appearance. Talk about unprofessional...

  • Carolyn T.

The decor is kitschy, which I happen to like, but the food is just okay. The soup I had when dining here was not particularly flavorful and it was lukewarm. The service was kind of "meh" because our waitress was not very attentive or friendly. The price should be lower for the food you get, which is akin to a fast food joint. The few times I've eaten there, my dining companions felt similarly "meh" about the food. I feel like this place is pretending to be something it's not or is confused what it is, if that makes any sense at all. Would I return? If someone were treating me to a meal and selected this restaurant, I would politely suggest that we go elsewhere because their money is better spent elsewhere. This place isn't awful, but you can get so much more bang for your buck in Appleton.

I've been to the Good Company multiple times and its always just ok, nothing too special. Their portions are a good size, but for the price I would expect higher quality. The one thing they do have going for them is their happy hour, they have a great happy hour with a awesome taco bar Monday - Thursday.

There is nothing spectacular to write about this place. The food was alright. I had the steak tenderloin 10 ounce as the waitress recommended. It was okay. I've prepared and made better at home. EVERYTHING was just okay, edible but nothing was rememorable. Would I go back if ever visiting again? No. I would recommend Fratellos Riverfront Restaurant. Cannot go wrong there. Pleasing in so many ways.

Typical American fare food. Comparable to most national chains but does have a local feel to the decor. I enjoyed all the local trinkets on the walls and the booth was a cozy quiet atmosphere. I tried the Southwest wrap which included jalepenos so I was excited for the little extra kick! My coworker had the nachos with chicken added. It was so large there was no way to finish it. Fries had a good seasoning to them and they were substantial. . . not those shoestring stlye ones. This restaurant would be a great choice for a group that has all sorts of different tastes to accomodate everyones favorite.

Good food and a really nice atmosphere, the only disappointment is there is a picture of Hornsby's Draft Cider on the menu, yet when asked they don't sell it. I am surprised there are so many negative reviews of this place.

  • Jennifer H.

The atmosphere and bartenders are great. Server knowledge is mediocre at best over the past couple of times I've been there. The large group accommodations are desirable if that is what you are looking for. This is prime real estate for the area, there's a lot going for them but I would not go if you're looking for a good meal. I've never had more processed, cheap food than I got at this place . If you want some lunch lady processed slop, order the beef taco meat...or maybe you're craving some frozen shrimp thrown in a vat of butter sprinkled with "bread crumbs", order Shrimp Scampi. If you go for drinks you'll be satisfied.

A truly unique local restaurant. The turkey burger was outstanding. My friend had the fish and chips and said it was very good. All around a great place to eat

Unfortunately our experience here was very disappointing. We came in to be greeted by no one so we decided after waiting a few minutes to go in to the bar area. Ordered a drink, and received a menu. We were told nothing.....like the specials. After ordering I asked if we cld sit at a table to eat. And the person was like "you mean like have a waitress". Never being there before I didn't know if it was like some places where you can order at the bar and be taken to a table after. So he said we could sit at any table in the bar area and so we did. Eventually our soup and salad came. Another person had brought it out. Not asking if we needed anything or offering to refill our drinks. We went back up to the bar for our own drinks. The wait on the rest of our meal was forever. I don't think saying 45 minutes or more is exaggerating one bit. When the guy brought it he never asked if we needed anything again. I had to ask for salt and pepper and our bread which the menu states we get. We ordered steak and no steak sauce was set out on our table either. Prob most disappointing was when we finally did receive our food.....it was cold!! By this point we really were just wishing we had made another choice of places as we are parents of young children and it's a very rare occasion we get to get away alone for a nice meal. When the food came cold we may have considered complaining but no one ever bothered to ask us how our food was after serving it to us. At that point we were so hungry and just wanted to eat and leave. Someone did finally return to clear our plates but again did not ask how our food was, if we wanted anything else, or offer us our bill even. It was a shame because considering it was cold the food was actually good. But I still prefer to have my mashed potatoes warm at the very least. I again went up to the bar and asked for my bill so we could go. I left a 6 dollar tip which I felt was generous for the huge lack of service and quality on our 60$ bill. So we will not be returning here unfortunately. I wish I cld say they were busy and perhaps that would offer somewhat of a explanation for the service and lack of quality....but it was not

Very disappointing food. Atmosphere and service were great. I had the california wrap and my friend had the fettucini alfredo. My wrap was flavorless. My friend said his pasta was really bland. Picture is posted

We went here months ago and were underwhelmed by the food, but it wasn't horrible. Our waitress was great the first time. We didn't intend to go back, but my dad chose to go for his birthday. The hostess was awkward, and put all three menus on the table on top of each other, and then put the silverware in a pile on top of the menus rather than putting our individual menus and silverware out. She left without a word. I ordered the Friday Fish Fry broiled cod, but my order arrived as the fried cod. I let the waitress know my order was wrong, and she said, "Well, that's what I've been serving all night!" and left. O....k.... I also got the mashed potatoes, which are very obviously instant potatoes. My boyfriend didn't like his burger much, but that is likely a preference thing and not a huge issue. However, my dad was eating his dinner salad and suddenly stopped eating and started picking through it. He said there was a fly in his salad. When he couldn't find it, he thought he'd been seeing things and kept eating. A couple of minutes later? Sure enough. LIVE FLY in the salad. The waitress had been so helpful with my incorrect order that we didn't even bother telling her about the salad. We won't be back a third time.

In Appleton for the weekend for the Packers game, drove by and decided to give it a try. Very neat atmosphere, tons of things to look at and can be seated in different rooms, we were in the library upstairs. Our waitress was great! Caught me on the way to the bathroom to take my drink order and the cherry pepsi's were made deliciously! Very fast and were in and out in like 40 min before the rush got there. We started with cheese curds and they were great, very good flavor and hot. Boyfriend had the fish sandwich and it was a mess and just fell apart. Said he didn't really like the tarter sauce as it tasted too much like celery but the fish was good. I had chicken sandwich and it was messy too, and fell apart but was really good! Overall impressed and would for sure come back! Not sure why there was so much negative comments.

I was here with a group of 7 on August 8, 2014, prior to visiting the Mile of Music. We were seated immediately and received outstanding service from Jennifer R. All dishes were served promptly and correctly and the food was hot and delicious. The atmosphere was great and it was one of best experiences I've had at a restaurant in quite a while. I would definitely return!

  • Angie S.

So, it wasn't awful. But I wouldn't go back. Here's why: 1) My entree came with a salad, as did one of my companions. The salad was wilted almost beyond the point where it could be eaten. 2) I ordered zucchini sticks, which were advertised on a chalkboard by the front door. When I ordered them, our waitress said they were served for Wicked (which was several weeks ago) but they "might" have some left over. Yum, sounds great. :( 3) The cream cheese mashed potatoes, which sound amazing, were instant potatoes. Our waitress denied this up and down, but I know instant potatoes when I eat them...they had that chemical, powdery after taste. 4) The cod was delicious. 5) Our waitress bussed the table while we were still sitting there talking. Like, she cleared EVERYTHING, including our water glasses, and stood there with a rag in her hand to wipe the table and waited for us to get up. We took that as our clue to leave. 6) Not sure why she was in such a hurry to wipe the table because when we sat down, the table was sticky and disgusting. 7) The atmosphere is nice...a few different "themes" in different rooms because this place is HUGE. 8) Service was fast, but to the point of sloppiness. We ordered water with lemon. No more than 1 minute later, our waters were brought to us, lemonless. Our fish platters were brought without tartar sauce. Our silverware was brought right away but was dirty. Sorry, waitress Paula, that I left you a crappy tip. I always tip servers, no matter how bad the service is. But the amount I tip is directly proportional to how good the service is. 12% was generous, because you really need some customer service training. And yes, we told the hostess on our way out.

This place opened originally as Baxter's Beef & Pizza Company for those that don't remember. The were known then for their Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. Good Company took over this space after they moved from the former Marc's East on College Avenue (which was also both Sammy's Pizza and Seigo's Japanese Steak House for a short stint). I'm glad that Good Company kept the integrity of its predecessor. I happen to really like the place. It has the authentic black Armstrong ceiling, and it pioneered the "old fashioned" theme with cast iron fixtures, key punch brass cash registers, the infamous tacky "love meter" in the lobby area, and a free popcorn machine (all remnants from Baxter's). The problem is that along came Crapplebee's, with it's cluttered crap-o-rama decor that incorporates reproduced "faux relics" and splatters them all across their restaurants from floor to ceiling, and then marries the collaboration of bad taste with mediocre Kraft-laiden entrees. It's unfortunate that Good Company gets confused with current cheesy restaurant chains and lumped into this genre. The original building was part of an entirely different era of the old fashioned pizza parlor. Places like Baxter's, Happy Joe's, and Farrell's were all the rave back in the 80's when I was a kid because they served damned good pizza and ice cream. Good Company isn't trying to copy anyone, and in fact is the building is really quite unique. But to someone younger, the history is lost. Now, about the food. Sadly, Good Company did not keep Chicago-style deep dish pizza and ice cream as the staple focus of its business. That was, in my opinion, a mistake. That being said, I can't say I've ever had a rotten meal there. But then again I am very specific when ordering and try to stick with the healthier selections when possible. I had baked cod there with my family there during my last visit home to Appleton, and it was great! I have also read from reviewers that they feel the prices are high. I didn't notice this at all, but then again, I probably perceive Good Company as a bargain after the sticker shock from dining out in Milwaukee. Tack on $5 minimum to any sandwich or entree price at Good Company and you'll get a drift of what Milwaukee prices are like. The service wasn't memorable to me, but I never received poor service. And if you read some of my other reviews, I'm a pretty harsh critic. Is Good Company the most stupendous food money can buy? Well, let's not be ridiculous. I do wish they would get back to "who they used to be" before this new wave of "family restaurants" became the norm. But hey, I guess what they say is true: "you really never can go home again". Oh, one more useless factoid: The former business, Baxter's, was rumored to have been owned and operated by the same proprietors that owned Mars Hamburgers. Remember that freaky place?

Great atmosphere, but man the food is below average bar food. Paid $18+ for a seafood platter and sent half of it back told the waitress it was equivalent to what I could get at the frozen food section of the local grocery chain. The manager gave me half my money back and I still feel I got ripped off. The place has potential but the menu and the kitchen staff need a lot of work.

Holy shit...this is one of the greatest examples of the inherent awfulness of the "green 'n brown" type family restaurant. The instant I walked in my spidey sense tingled, warning me to flee the kitschy stoplight and misc debris that passes for decor. I ignored my instincts and was seated. Seated in a gigantic room that looked like a gymnasium, attached to a wall of fake bricks that evidently is supposed to look like New Orleans (it doesn't) by way of Applebee's. Our curt polo-shirted server was prompt at least, and looking in his eyes I saw that he too recognized the inherent lameness of this establishment. Their beer list is OK. One upside. the food is a variety of fried things, and could be off of any corporate chain restaurant menu. Somehow though, both my and my colleague's were even blander and more unsatisfying than even the major chains. I mean it was really, really astounding. I won't go into detail about what we ordered but suffice to say they came from different spectrums and both sucked. Stay away...there is way better stuff within walking distance. I cannot believe anyone would give this more than 2 stars.

My family and I have been going to Good Company for as long as i can remember. The food is not out-of-this-world good, but it's definitely decent. I almost always order the French Dip, which never disappoints. The location is great. The atmosphere is cool, and I always leave feeling full.

Little pricey but good selection. Remember the food being better when I was a kid..... The wait can be terrible but the decor of this place rocks. Apparently the building is haunted but I will let you be the judge of that one. I suggest the cookie desert IT IS YUMMY!

I could easily give this place 4 stars, but in all honesty it really gets the 3 star treatment... The service was stellar and deserves a solid 5 stars in the dining room and a solid 4 stars in the bar... However the food was all a solid 3 star production The Prime rib was good but it wasn't great its very hard to verbalize it was not bad at all it just didn't dazzle me! The signature cream cheese mashed potatoes were ok but were too smooth and starchy they reminded me of boxed potatoes to me, I hope that I am wrong but they were disappointing to say the least... The warm bread was really good but I feel like the butter was fake if it wasn't again it tasted like it was a butter flavored spread to me... The salad was good, I had a raspberry vinaigrette and it was too sweet and thick not your typical vinaigrette for sure an unhealthy facsimile for sure... Everything was good but everything was not great... I would go back with a group for sure, but not my favorite place in Appleton...

This was one of the only places on College open on a Sunday afternoon, and I'm guessing that all the drunken shenanigans on College the night before results in only dinner time hours. We were on foot (good thing in foresight to the meal we were about to have), and we had walked from Olde Oneida down to Good Company because a friend who's a local had let us know about this place because I had initially wanted to go the Old Bavarian, but that place wasn't open till 4, and unfortunately we had to be at the airport by 1:15. I seriously read over all the reviews before going in, and I could definitely say ALL of them were very useful! (Jeff, Linda, Leah, etc), although the potatoes didn't have the consistency to be boxed, and I was just waiting for slacker service, but the girl we had did a good job. All'n'all, there's probably a ton of places that make Appleton look a lot better, but you'll just have to pay attention to the business hours if you want to eat at those places.... oh, and anybody watching their (*ahem!) carbs will want to watch out for Good Company (mashed potatoes, breads, and more potatoes) because these foods don't make "good company" if you're not trying to fatten up your belly!

Oh my childhood memories have been cleared away. The Good Company has fallen from grace and is almost on par with George Webb. I used to love going here as a kid. I've tried this a few times in the last year. The food has in general either been over or under cooked, and rather bland. i.e. fish in general should flake...not need a knife like a ribeye. The atmosphere is great for kids or for someone who hasn't seen it before. I've never had a problem with the wait staff.

Always a favorite for family birthday parties as a kid, I (like most of the other reviewers here, it seems) have a special place in my heart for Good Company. The decor is really cute - I particularly like the library room, because the only thing better than eating is eating while surrounded by books - and the service is always friendly. The bar is fun and busy and casual. All this being said, I was accustomed to the menu (and the food) being pretty mediocre. I expected this, and so never got upset when my meal tasted more or less like something I could have made at home. Imagine my surprise when, last year, I went here and there were way more vegetarian options on the menu. Not only that - they were REALLY good. Awesome. I've been there a few times since then, and the food has been consistently better than it used to be. (Also, they have tasty and reasonably priced margaritas.) The only downside is I think they got rid of the Superman-in-phone-booth statue thing. Too bad.

I grew up in Appleton, frequented this restaurant with my family, and hadn't eaten there in a good 10 years until this past weekend. Really - not a lot has changed. There isn't anything fancy or uber exciting about this place. You'll get solid food for a decent price. Definitely good for groups - we went on a Saturday night and the place was PACKED. We had to wait 1 1/2 hours for a table although we had a group of 6 so that may be why. Overall I'd say this restaurant is good but not great.

This is my least favorite restaurant in Appleton. I'm just warning you, out-of-towners. Don't do it. Appleton has so much better to offer. Strengths: the service is good. They have a free taco bar during happy hour. It's in a great location that tempts people to go here. People who've lived here a long time go here because they like to be able to predict what is coming next and they want things exactly the same as they've been for 30 years. Perhaps there is a kitschy irony in the decor. It has the feel of being the first TGIFridays ever, in 1978. Barriers to being a place worth visiting: terrible menu. Nothing is fresh here and it's just all incredibly outdated. Who's ordering wraps anymore? Why was that ever a thing? Fried everything, blech. The food is terrible. If you want to try to be healthy, just get some soup. This place is ready for a complete overhaul from Chef Ramsay. I hate it, I'm shuddering...

Everything about this restaurant is just mediocre. Good selection, but nothing really stands out. Typical Mexican, pasta, salads, sandwiches. Soups have always been good. I've finally learned not to order salads. Their lettuce is always white and soggy and gross. Decor is gaudy. Wait staff has never impressed me. The bar area is nice with a free taco bar and happy hour.

I'm giving this place five stars not necessarily because of the food but because the atmosphere is so amazing and unique. I had a chopped salad which was delicious and the service was prompt and friendly, But really the best part of the restaurant was seeing all of the different decor in the rooms. It's clear when you walk in that this restaurant is unlike any other and is so much better than all the other tacky chain restaurants that can be found all over the country. Go here for fairly good food but mostly for the cool atmosphere and a restaurant that feels like it has been a part of the community for a long time.

The best thing about Good Company is the decor. Kinda kitschy but still fun with its themed rooms. This place used to be a pizza joint when I was in high school and the scene of many a date. I guess I have a soft spot in my heart because of that. The food is typical of a burger and pasta joint. There are alot of entrees to choose from and nothing really stands out. However, for a family outing or a larger group, this may be a good choice to please everyone's palate. My 11-yr old rates this as one of her fav restaurants. My favorite dish? Dessert, of course! The Cast Iron Cookie. Its a small cast iron pan with a chocolate chip cookie baked in the bottom. Topped with ice cream, fudge and spanish peanuts, this is enough for two people. :-) service here is freindly, but slow. Seems the staff likes to congregate in the kitchen to visit. That's what I observed last time I was there. foodspot.com/goodcompany

Another spot on the local chain company that owns a few places in town under different names...but are kind of the same place. Food just a bit above bar food. Service was terrible.

I love this place. We go here a few times a month and have never had a bad meal. I like their burgers and pasta the most. The chicken tender appetizer is great! One of the best things about the place is it's atmosphere. The upstairs area is a flashback to another time with old pictures of silver screen movie stars and there is a "Library Room" that I just love. They have their own version of the French Quarter downstairs, and a quiet area with an outdoor theme, etc. Since the decor and themes are a bit different in each area, it never gets old and there is always something you haven't seen before to comment on. Even when it's busy, it feels cozy and you can carry on a conversation without having to shout. The service is generally good, however you will get the occasional server who's not as good as the others. This is a great place to go for a date or with family. I love bringing people here for the first time. As I'm typing this, my sister is telling me to be sure to recommend the Caesar salad too and say that it is "awesome."

i thought this was a pretty typical place. you can choose pastas, burgers, sandwiches, or main dishes. there are lots of choices, so it's good for groups. they have a good beer selection too other than the normal coors/lite, miller/lite, bud/lite, pbr that you get around this area. i had a blue moon and another local beer. i came here with a coworker and thought that i should have ordered a fish like he did since the pasta i got was too much food. appetizers are pretty normal, onion rings, fries, etc... overall, a solid place to go to and you won't get bad food.

I went to Good Company for dinner to a friend's 30th birthday. The place is a little over the top when it came to the decor. It reminded me a bit of an Applebee's, but with two floors. When we walked in you could tell the hostess was in a very bad mood, and proceeded to argue with one of her coworkers (our waiter). I can usually put things like this aside because you only see the hostess for about 2 minutes. I did make a point of telling her it was my friend's 30th birthday, and she told me they bring a complementary sundae. We were seated immediately and promptly offered drinks. I read a lot of reviews about poor service so I was happy that our server seemed to be on top of things. We ordered the Hot Spinach Dip and Fried Ravioli to start. I did not try the Ravioli, but the dip was alright. I have had better. I was a little on the bland side, and a little runny. For my entree I ordered the Chicken with Mushrooms. The meal came with soup or salad. I had a cup of the baked french onion. The soup was not very good. It was not hot enough and the cheese melted on top was gross. The chicken dish was just ok. It was a bit over salted. I wouldn't order it again. It came with a side of garlic mashed potatoes, which were actually pretty good. My table mates ordered ribs (he liked them), Alfredo (they said it was pretty good), and chicken tenders (birthday girl liked them a lot), so maybe it was just me. At the end of the meal the waiter brought our checks and told us to pay at the front. Birthday Sundae? Considering she and her husband stopped at the Bar before, and she was wearing a glowing "happy birthday" button I didn't think he would miss it. I guess that is what you get for assuming. Perhaps he was still upset about his fight with the 17 year old hostess. I don't think I would come back here if I was the one choosing the restaurant.....

This is mine and my boyfriends favorite restaurant! We are both from Illinois, so when family or friends visit we bring our family there for something different than a food chain. Everyone loves it and always wants to go again when they come back! It has really neat decor and has the friendliest servers. Another point is that they are able to read their guest, they don't try and rush you out, but they get you your food as quick as they can so if you are in a rush you aren't sitting there for two hours! My favorite dish is their Company Burger and their French Onion soup! HUGE burger and lots of fries for a great price. Overall, Good Company is cheap for the service and quality of food that you get. I recommend this place to everyone!!!

We're from out of town for an evening business meeting here. We were sat at an upstairs table and wanted to have a few drinks before ordering our food. Since the restaurant is huge, we thought it wouldn't be a problem. The server kept hounding us for a food order even though we were drinking most of our bill. We finally ordered food and as I was coming out of the bathroom overheard the server complaining about us. He then came to tell us his shift was almost over and we needed to close out Instead of giving us an alternative option (:so and so can take care of you" or "the bar is open until..."). I've been in the service industry but know where my tip is coming from.. The more we spend on drinks, the larger the tip.
