Had a very average lunch @ El Azteca yesterday. Chips, salsa & guacamole were the highpoint of the meal. Stuffed poblano pepper had no discernable flavor, it was very overcooked to the point of being a pile of mush. My soft shell chicken taco had ~ 1 gram of chicken in it, some cheese, mostly lettuce. Once again, no flavor, very bland. The refried beans were soupy and formed a runny puddle on the plate. Once again, no flavor. I hate to write such a negative review, as I have had good meals at El Azteca in the past. They need to seriously take a look at what is being produced in their kitchen. There are many better choices for Mexican food in the valley.

Great authentic Mexican Food, nice atmosphere, and reasonably priced. My favorite thing is their chicken enchiladas or their chicken burrito. The meat is seasoned and marinated perfectly. The price is outstanding.

This place is disgusting. These people should be ashamed for false advertising claiming they have the best food, prices, and service on their door. Even I cook better food than this. The waiter was rude and purposely took his time to get to our table. I know this because I know and understand Spanish but the Majority of people don't realize it because I have a white complexion, so I understood what he was talking and laughing about. As one of the busboys was walking past (well shes a girl to be exact) our waiter grabbed her and tried to "feel her up" right in front of us. I can tell the girl got embarrassed but our waiter laughed it off. Couple hours later, I started feeling sick to my stomach. Never going back again.

Portions are HUGE and you get the food quick. The drinks are really big too, and very good. People who work there are nice, and the food is really good Mexican for the area. Always come back to one of the two restaurants when in Appleton.

If you like deep fried pubic hair in your food go there. We went there with my friend and her husband, we finish eating and were finishing with our margaritas and chips. A dark curly hair in the chips. Server then the owner pass by and asked what was wrong. We told then a hair in the chips.. at this moment my friend was so disgusted by it that she didn't finish her margarita. The owner smiles and says-"ah a little hair" - where are you guys from?- really!? We look each other and took a moment we answered him. He left!. We agreed that not even an apology from server nor the owner! Went and paid him we were leaving and had to say something!,- asked him -Sr. Are you the manager. I'm the owner he replied. Couldn't belived it. I say well you know sr is really sad that not even an apology from the hair in our food we deserve. "Oh it's just a hair it could be fron you or while taking the chips to your table" "Sr the point is you offer a proper apology" - "oh mija we come from Mexico where flies are every where ,in our food. here we "Americanized" and expect all clean I dont know what the big deal is about!" "Sr don't know what house you come from, but in my house we're clean!" Went there expecting have a good time with my friend and family came out upset and my friend feeling sick seeing the chips we were eating from. No one was expecting a disc nor get free food from the a apology that's it. Bad food, bad attitude terrible cuts service.

I love El Azteca any time I'm in the mood for Mexican! The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and they have some of the best guacamole around! I have eaten at several different locations and have the same great experience no matter where I am. The service is always great and the food is always delicious. Last time I went I had a pina colada that was out of this world. I definitely recommend El Azteca for a great Mexican meal!

Being a West Coat big city girl, I admit when I am in smaller towns, I am weary if I am going to find food that knocks me off my feet. Here though that is not the case. The food is yummy and delicious, the service is great and best of all, it is SUPER CHEAP. 6 of us ate for $30! AMAZING and UNHEARD OF! Standouts: 1. the bean dip is cheesey and spicy and once you start on it, you literally cannot stop eating it. 2. the queso is the same way. maybe it's the Wisconsin cheese in it. 3. the portions are pretty good sized so you can probably even share with people and still walk away full. Sooo excited to have found a place that I just adore to eat at in WI when I am overstuffed on cheese curds and fish fry, LOL.

love this place. have been going here since i was a kid, and it's now a favorite for my wife and i. the queso blanco is the best we've been able to find anywhere. service is always excellent. we're here almost weekly, whether to grab dinner, or to get a to-go container of the cheese dip! we even had a massive nesco full of this cheese dip at our wedding reception!

Unfortunately, I was thoroughly underwhelmed by this place. I really wanted to like it, but it fell flat on all counts - except our service & chips were really good. I ordered two tacos, rice & beans. The meat on my taco basically tasted like...meat. There was no seasoning whatsoever, and it was dripping with grease (which I usually would overlook, but when "grease" is the only flavor in an item, you REALLY notice the grease). I had close to no cheese on my tacos, and the lettuce/tomato tasted funny...like, cut yesterday and left in metal containers overnight funny. I hate that taste, because it always reminds me of a place I worked at when I was 15. Taco Bell, maybe you've heard of it. :D After working there and at McDonalds, I can really taste the difference between fresh-cut and cut-eight-hours-ago produce (tomatoes especially). The rice tasted like rice-a-roni. Really bland, somewhat overcooked. My fiance ordered an burrito, chile rellano, and a chalupa. The chalupa was a flat fried corn tortilla with stuff on it - which isn't what we were expecting, but we thought maybe it was our mistake. His food was bland and even the stuffed pepper was lacking any flavor. Their chips were great, and my fiance said the bean dip was to die for. I had a couple bites but it was a bit beyond my spiciness threshold, so I stuck with the salsa, which was also relatively good, but that same weird un-fresh tomato taste was there. He had beer - good. I had a margarita. It tasted weird. I don't know how to describe it, but it was just weird. After the first sip, I wanted to stop drinking it, but I hate sending things back, so I kept drinking it, and after a few sips I kind of got used to it, so I did finish it. Our server was very friendly & attentive. There was a guy coming around to refill peoples' chips, and that was nice. All in all, from a culinary standpoint, I was definitely not impressed, and that sucks, because I **love** mexican food, so I'm usually pretty forgiving about small details. I guess I'll stick with Solea.

Pros: the chips and salsa, speed of service and servers tend to be very friendly and attentive. Cons: the food is so-so. Generally its under seasoned and over greasy.

Things to like about El Azteca: 1. It is delicious. Every variety of enchilada here is awesome. (I like the spinach ones myself.) Also, the queso (and the salsa and bean dip that come free with your meal) is great. 2. It is cheap. I mean, seriously, you can buy an enchilada for less than two dollars. And these are some big enchiladas. 3. It is fast. On more than one occasion I've gotten my food less than five minutes after I ordered it. Lunch is especially efficient - great if you have a short lunch hour. 4. It has great margaritas. 5. It is a great place for birthdays. They make the birthday guy/gal wear a sombrero and then put ice cream on their face, which is awesome, provided that it is someone else having a birthday and not you. 6. It is located in a strip mall with Sai Ram and Koreana, two of the other best restaurants in Appleton, so you can fight over which one to eat at! Or eat at all of them...for one meal.

Love everything about about it. Coming from the east coast I have yet to find a good taco. Not only was everyone super friendly, but the food was super quick (faster than taco bell) but I savored every bite I had! Amazing food, but please clean up the mens bathroom cause you could of had 5 stars.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
