Prices are a little high but a classier establishment for Yakima. Beer selection is fair and appetizers are good sized for a late night snack. Friendly service as well.

Spinach Salad Bust!! 13 dollars for about 12 spinach leaves and a little oil and vinegar. I'm from Yakima but have lived on the 'coast' , Seattle area, for 47 years. A restaurant that served such a meager portion of food would be drummed out of business there. This was like side salad at Seattle area restaurant. It was good (all 8 bites) but that doesn't save it as far as I'm concerned. I walked out hungry. If they had 1/2 star that's what I'd give them.

My wife loved here cheeseburger here. My club sandwich was also good. It's a good spot to grab a sandwich and a cold drink for lunc or dinner. Kind of an upscale sports bar atmosphere.

The service was great, very attentive and everything came just as we orderd. We orderd the coconut prawns, they came out hot and toasty and were huge! The dipping sauce was so good! I had the blue cheese burger ordered without the bun no problem and very delish. My husband had the steak salad which he said was very tasty. Over all a very good experience.

The entire experience was solidly mediocre. Our first clue that this would not be a fine dining experience was when the waiter failed to ask how we wanted our burgers cooked. We would have liked them medium rare (how could he know without asking?) but they were well done. The sweet potato fries and the side salad were fine but nothing special. The food was average but the service was poor (this could be easily corrected with a bit of attention to detail and/or a bit more training). Our dinner dishes were only partially cleared before desert arrived and we unhappily ate our ice cream amid dirty plates and salad bowls and bottles of ketchup and mustard. This despite the fact that three people came to our table (to take our main plates, to inquire about desert and to deliver same) and all of them left some of the finished dishes. A few other employees came by but each time they removed less than all the dirty dishes. Sloppy sloppy sloppy.

I was skeptical eating here after reading so many of the negative reviews, but I'm glad I came here with my husband to try for myself! The interior is really huge, and has a nice decor. When we arrived, we were seated immediately, and our server took our drink orders, which arrived promptly. I ordered a blueberry mojito.... it was HUGE, and very tasty, and I would have paid more for it given the size. There is a big selection of cuisine... anything from fish, burgers, pasta. My husband ordered the cocktail shrimp to start, and I ordered a cup of clam chowder. Both of them were so tasty. Then we both ordered burgers, both were cooked to perfection, and again were really huge. My husband ordered sweet potato fries with his, and they were incredibly fresh, best I've ever tasted anywhere! Service all the time was great, and very prompt. We decided to try their desserts, surprisingly there was a "Cheesecake Factory" cheesecake on the menu, so my husband went for that, while I chose a trio of mini desserts (chocolate souffle, strawberry sundae, creme brulee) - I'm still not sure which one I preferred most! In total, our bill came to around $70, for a 3 course meal each, with drinks. I was so shocked with the incredible value for money, given all the food. This place was awesome, and if I'm ever back in Yakima, we will definitely come back to visit.

Fairly good food, expansive indoor and outdoor space. TV seems an unnecessary distraction. Service felt rushed even though they weren't that busy, and was indifferent.

My boyfriend and I are in Yakima this week for his work. We read the reviews and decided this place looked yummy. We were pleasantly surprised! Food is delicious, service was great, and the atmosphere was wonderful. We thought it was so good we went there the next night as well! We've tried the salmon, the surf & turf, the fish tacos, the sashimi, and the dessert trio. All were fantastic! In fact the mini creme brûlée in the dessert trio was so good we couldn't help but get another! Our server wasn't sure they had any left so he went to check and when he came back he gave us a full size but only charged us for a mini! If you're looking for a nice place for date night this is it!

We were a bachelorette party of seven girls and ended up a nearby restaurant called Cowiche. Cowiche was a new restaurant to town and it was our first time. We almost came across Second Street but decided on Cowiche by how nice it looked. I will write Cowiche's review on their page, but all seven of us ended up at Second Street the following night and it was MUCH BETTER than Cowiche! The food options were bigger and delish, and all the staff was very friendly, personable and professional. Also, the prices are much more reasonable. We would definitely chose Second Street over Cowiche any night! They are equally beautiful restaurants, but Second Street was THE BEST! Will definitely be coming back here over and over again. In love.

Big enough that you don't have to wait too much time to be seated. Great place to have a beer and a burger. Mushroom burger with sweet potato chips is a good choice if you had drink a lot of wine...

Great food, good atmosphere (though sometimes loud, people with hearing aids may struggle with background noise). It's nice for hanging with friends or a fun date night!

  • Natalie D.

I think this place is underestimated. I'm usually very picky when it comes to food, but this place didn't disappoint me. I went there with my husband on a Saturday night for dinner. The place wasn't crowded, and we were seated immediately. We had wide selection of food and drinks to choose from. I paired Angel Hair Pasta & Meatballs with local red wine, and I really enjoyed both. My husband ordered Spiced Pork Tenderloin, and he was happy with his choice too. Our waiter was kind and attentive, so we had nothing to complain about. Please, don't judge this place by it's pretty low reviews, it's much better in reality!

Exquisite early evening meal experience. Coconut shrimp, clam chowder, fried asparagus, and steamed clams danced across our taste buds while an extremely friendly and attentive staff cared for every request. I was especially taken by the kitchen staff that delivered our various entrees. She was a rare mix of courteous professionalism and home-town neighborhood friend. If you appreciate being spoiled by high quality service and high-end comfort food this is definitely a place to explore.

I have always eaten here when in town. I ALWAYS get the "Alder-planked Salmon dinner. Wow! Good selection of Wine (and Beer). Bar area good if you are by yourself and want a bite while you watch some sports on the MANY TV's. Lot's of bar stools. Nice patio when the weather is nice. Plenty of tables for couples or groups. Close to Hilton Garden Inn and Capitol Theater. I have noticed the quality of food and service has gone down a tad over the past couple of years. It is still really good, but doesn't compare to the new Cowiche that just opened up nearby. Better up your game Second Street! - I'll still come visit. I promise.

  • Tia M.

Loved our dining experience. Now I'm going to be honest I ordered steak and shrimp and the shrimp was awesome BUT my steak was rotten.. Now we have had a lot of hot weather and who knows what could've gone wrong but it was handled with NO attitude and very promptly. I would and will return here often. My husband LOVED the ambiance and people. I want to try the drinks!!!!!

  • Rebecca L.

I'm giving the Second Street Grill the highest rating for service, both for my husband and I and our Norwich terrier! They have a nice outdoor patio where dogs are allowed to join their humans. We had a very good pizza, and some nice Yakima - made ale. They brought our dog a bowl of water and a large biscuit. We were all happy! It was an enjoyable experience.

  • A F.

I am reaffirming my previous review, food is still OK and the customer service is good. I ordered the garlic shrimp fettuccine, the description states grilled shrimp, however when it came out, it might have been sautéed, no grill marks or any "charrey" goodness, just 4 pieces of even colored pink shrimp for $21+ :( The food is definitely nothing to write home about, but I give kuddos to their customer service. It was moderately busy for a Thursday night and they were understaffed, but our waiter still gave us his full attention and even went out of his way to box my leftovers

  • Ty C.

clean and new. good ambiance. Nothing special with the food but dependable and good.

  • Rodrigo A.

You can help to be impressed with the place when you first walk in. It's really nice. We waited for a few minutes for the host but ko one showed up, we decided to go to the bar and sit in that area. We had to wait for a few more minutes for someone to come and take our order. We order the meatball sliders, and what a disapointment. You get a slider bun, ikea meatballs and bbq sauce and it will be 10 times better than these. I ordered a chicken plate, the portion size was adequate but it was tasteless. The best thing in the plate was the mixed veggies, which was only zucchini and squash. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place foe dinning. On the other hand, if you are just interested in a place with a nice bar for drinks, this could work.

Wow what 4 years can do frome 4 stars to 1 star. The reason they took so mutch stuff off the menu and replaced it with cold and confuseingredients food

Another awesome dinner at this fine establishment! The service is always top notch and the food never disappoints. Come for Happy Hour and you will wish you had a light lunch.

  • Sean K.

My go-to happy hour. A tad out of my price range for dinner as a broke first-year teacher, but I'm all in from 3-6 pm. Well drinks, coors and bud draft, hogue wines, and a daily rotating drink special and draft beer are on the happy hour. Appetizers are all half-off. I've had the Ahi wonton tacos (my favorite, so fresh), Tuscan nachos, sweet chili chicken wraps, coconut shrimp, and chicken tenders & fries (pretty huge basket). A classy sports bar. Great service. Impeccable restrooms.

  • Marc W.

The ONLY reason this gets 4 & not 5 stars is that I was alone. But I gather this is a great place for couples and groups. Here on business and desperate for a decent meal in an otherwise desolate culinary location, Yelp brought me here. Wow, an eye opener. Club sandwich was the BEST I'VE EVER HAD!!!! Service was great. And price was more than reasonable. Less than $16 when a crappy burger joint in town yesterday cost me $18. I am changing my mind. This IS a 5 star review. Disregard the top.

The burgers were good and I would eat one here again but it wasn't anything spectacular.

Stopped in Yakima on my way to visit John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. This places ranked third place in Tripadvisor out of 215 places. It is also located just off the main street and not far from the Hilton Garden Inn. It is a bar and a restaurant. There is a patio outside, it is perfect for summer dinning. There is large TV inside. Service is efficient and friendly. It was nice to see some Asian option. I had the Almond Chicken Rice Bowl, and my companion had The Grilled Chicken, and we tried a local wine -- Naches Height Gewurtztraminer, it was light and perfect for the summer night. I was pleasantly surprised how light my Almond Chicken Rice Bowl was, the chicken was seasoned well, with spring spouts and chopped almonds. The Grilled Chicken is not heavy either. Since Yakima Valley produces 77% of all hops grown in the United States, I expect any beer or wine to be good. I was not disappointed. All in all, I had a very pleasant dinning experience there.

Second time here first review. Great happy hour on of the best I found in Yakima. Half off apps and select drinks. They make you feel like your the only customer even though there are many. The food was very good on both occasions. I wouldn't hesitate to come back.

Great place to eat day or night. Or just stop in for an adult beverage of your choice. Friendly, warm atmosphere. Great service. A menu that everyone will find something they like from breakfast to late night snack. Great happy hour prices every day 3pm-6pm. Locally owned and operated. From the time you walk in the door and see the nostalgic phots on the Old Brick Stone wall, you'll feel at home. In the warm weather there is a great outdoor option. I love eating here.

In town for work and checked out this place. The atmosphere was great. Food nit so much. My boyfriend got the spaghetti and meat balls. Said they were gross. I ordered the almond chicken rice bowl. Chicken was dry and too much sauce. The guy next to us ordered a rare steak and they over cooked it. Our waitress ignored us half the time. Will not be back.

Cowiche Canyon " we just called last call you can come back tomorrow". 2nd Street "We just called last call, what can I get you before we close". That new place could learn a lot from this place.

Great fresh food, clean cool atmosphere. We can for best in the west basketball tournament. Best in Yakima by far, great for large groups, enough said!!

First time here. Staff was friendly and prompt. Just had a few appetizers and a couple drinks. Both the food and drink were good and reasonably priced off of the happy hour menu.

  • Stephen S.

Both service and food at Second Street Grill were excellent. For Yakima, Washington, this local spot definitely exceeded all my expectations. The salmon on cedar was delicious- perfectly cooked and the hot plank kept the salmon and sides hot until the very last, savory bite. I was likewise impressed by the variety of local wines available by the glass. The bartender was also very knowledgeable about the food and wine. I would visit Second Street Grill again in a heartbeat.

Good sandwich with lots of flavor, with well prepared sweet potato fries. Good service. So good we came back a week later on our way back through town. We were not disappointed.

Went while we were there for a Baseball tournament. Food was good, beer selections was super! Had great service and we had a large group.

Nothing special here. Had the mahi fish tacos. Taste like saw dust. Basically no flavor. Should have ordered something else. Or they should not be serving the fish tacos! Oh and the best part of my meal was the bread.

Best happy hour in town. Super yummy food, good drinks, fun crowd. My husband and I go to for HH

Nice atmosphere and friendly wait staff. I ate here with my son and a friend on a Monday evening. It did not seem overly busy, but it did take quite a long time to receive our food. We did receive our drinks promptly enough however and some bread + butter. My son ordered the French dip with swiss cheese and mushrooms, which he did not like and sent back. I did not try the sandwich, and I'm sure it tasted just fine. My son did love the caesar salad that came with the sandwich and he was given second salad after he sent his sandwich back. I had a vegetarian grilled sandwich and though tasty, the bread was soggy. We were not charged for my sons meal, by the way. There was good amount of beer on tap, which is a plus in my book. Overall, the food was average, but the service and beer selection were great. Prices were affordable. 4 stars for service and beer selection :)

Went there for Sunday breakfast/lunch. Service was great, really nice atmosphere and good food. Would like to come back when it's warmer so we could sit outside.

  • Anthony B.

Great breakfast, served into the afternoon, which is great after a long night and driving across the state the next morning. The ambience is set in an up-to-date sports bar in a brick building with ample outside seating off of the main road.

  • Brett S.

Had the calamari, side salad, and BBQ burger. The food was outstanding. I was with a big party and was sat right next to another big party. Everyone in my party loved their food and recommend it. The service was awesome. The server was clearly slammed buy still provided outstanding service. The atmosphere is really good and the place is very clean. If your in Yakima area I don't know another place better than this place.

  • Hannah W.

I have been here a handful of times and have never had a meal I enjoyed. The food is not done well. From soggy sandwiches to soggy salads, no flavor at all.

My grandmother is 90 years old and lives in Yakima. We make it a point to always go over the mountains to visit and take her out for dinner. Usually this means the Olive Garden or some chain. A friend told her about Second Street so we gave it a try. What a refreshing change! The food was great, the french dip was very flavorful...and more importantly the Au Jus was wonderful. We will definitely be coming back next time in town!

  • Linda G.

Very nice people, super friendly staff. They are even dog friendly, which is important for a restaurant that had a patio. They have six pages in their menu for alcoholic drinks and six pages for food. We ordered thick, creamy and delicious clam chowder. The spinach salad with bacon and hardboiled egg was excellent too. It came with bacon infused dressing.

    (4)
  • Allen L.

I like their appetizers and super friendly bartenders!

  • Liz S.

I absolutely love this place! The food is amazing and well priced for a nice place. I had the BBQ bacon burger and it is amazing. The fries are to die for, don't substitute! The only problem is the noise level, it is always very loud.

    (4)
  • Ashley F.

The food is not only delicious but the sandwiches come in massive portions. I ordered the clam chowder and the Hawaiian chicken sandwich. The clam chowder was very good but I could have skipped it because the sandwich was the size of my head.

  • Becca R.

I was in town for business and was looking for somewhere to go for lunch. The restaurant itself is very nice, seems to be one of the nicer in the area (I walked from Red Lion Hotel). The Food: I ordered a cup of the clam chowder and it was really good. I am from the California coast and LOVE clam chowder so I had to try it here, and it was pretty tasty. I also ordered the Mahi Mahi fish tacos. There are 3 tacos that come in this dish (sort of a lot of food so I did not eat all of the tortillas). The fish was a little dry so I squeezed a lot of lime onto them and poured all of the salsa options onto them as well, they were pretty good after that. The tortillas were not my favorite. While I love and always order corn tortillas, they were not warmed at all before so they basically tore and fell apart as I was eating. I ended up eating two of the tacos with a fork and just ate the fish and cabbage out of the tacos. Overall it was pretty good, but could have been better if the fish was not as dry and the tortillas were heated in a pan prior to being served. Just my thoughts :)

The food was great! Loved the variety and the prices weren't bad either. The wait staff was friendly and the food did take a little while but was so worth it!

  • Stephanie G.

The food was great. But the service was really slow. We waited at least 15 minutes before getting our drink order taken. It wasn't that busy either....

  • Nic J.

Update: THIS PLACE IS SO BAD. the actual building is nice in a nice location with nice outdoor seating. but every thing else about it is garbage. I found myself there again the other day and i ordered the $9 shrimp cocktail and what i received was a CUP of CANNED shrimp covered with cocktail sauce, with a lemon twist on top. it was so bad. i never complain at restaurants so i said nothing but i did pay 9 bucks for a half can of baby shrimp with ketchup on top....... i feel dirty. The owner of Sierra Nevada, Ken Grossman ordered a pale ale along with everyone else at our table. When the drinks arrived, they were flat and tasted dusty. I watched Ken take a sip and then he calmly stood up from the table, gathered the owner of the grill and the bar tenders and gave them a quick lesion on how a beer is supposed to be treated. He explained the problems with the way their lines were set up to both there kegs and there gases. The rest of the night was full of great conversation and subpar food. I have been back to Second Street once since then to see if they were still doing injustice to great beers. To my dismay the management decided not to take this well founded advice and are still serving a crummy pint.

Place is pretty good. It can be crazy if you are trying to head there for lunch. A little over priced but never had a bad experience.

  • Maggie Z.

This really gets 3 1/2 stars but since yelp doesn't allow that & the bartender gave great service, I'm giving it 4. This is your average upscale sports bar but the food is pretty solid, and they have a good wine selection. I got the pork, which was really good- especially with the apple bacon butter it came with it. The mashed potatoes that came were bland and watery so I barely touched those. Ordered some sweet potato fries to satisfy my carb craving, and they were really good.

I recently planned a meeting in Yakima for 50 people. Part of this experience is providing our participants with dinner on the first night. Typically, our meetings are in a hotel and we provide all the meals onsite. However, we did not have that option at our most recent Yakima meeting. Steve and the entire staff at the grill were SO great. I initially made reservations for 25 people, and gradually upped the reservation to 48. They were able to accommodate us seamlessly. The staff helped us develop a pre-selected menu based on our budget and had special cards printed for everyone's order when we arrived. The serves were friendly, courteous, and kept track of all of our guests needs. The meals themselves came out in a timely manner, the portions were massive, and the food was satisfying. We received a massive amount of compliments and thanks from our participants the next day. If we do another meeting in Yakima, I would be delighted to host a dinner at Second Street Grill.

  • Amy O.

The food and service was perfect. No joke. We were so pleasantly surprised we may come back for dinner one of the night we are in town. I got the Avocado sandwich with bacon added and my husband got the Reuben with onion rings. Both were excellent. Bonus: they played some 90's alternative rock that brought us back to highschool and made it such a fun atmosphere.

  • Lindsay L.

Another one of yakima's highly overrated restaurants. For starters the service is terrible. The food is mostly all frozen or pre made and not anything creative or unique. You could find this food pretty much anywhere. We ordered coconut shrimp that had a hair embedded into it. The servers excuse was that they didn't make it there and hardly wanted to do anything about it. We also had ahi tuna which was bland. Not going back ever!

  • Nicole E.

This place is fun and nice to go to on a Friday or Saturday night for music and drinks. Especially considering it's Yakima. Their food is good and they actually have a fairly large menu. And those veg options make me a VERY happy camper. The Vegan Burger was yummy and the Vegetarian Sandwich was a also very tasty. They also have several vegetarian appetizers, YAY. Aaaaand some really good local wines and beers.

Lunchtime in Yakima... we wandered around, looking for a place to eat and happened upon the 2nd Street Grill. The interior is dark and cavernous with the ambiance of a down-at-the-heels sports bar, no place to bury oneself on a day so sunny and warm, so we chose a table in the attractive outdoor seating area. Finding the menu pretentious and overpriced, we decided to skip the $12 salads and fancier offerings in favor of breakfast, which is served at 2nd Street until 3 P.M. Bad idea. After a 40 minute wait, our eggs arrived so overcooked that they bounced when dropped from fork to plate. The accompanying toast was the color of charcoal and sparsely buttered... only spreading it with jam saved it from being too dry to eat. We left hungry and disillusioned. The place was packed. Is this really the best that Yakima has to offer? Tip... on a sunny day, have a beer at one of the outdoor tables. Eat somewhere else.

  • Mark P.

Over priced, for sure. I had the NY steak. It was an average cut of meat, at best. Also way under cooked than what I asked for. By the time the bartender checked on me I had already eaten it. $42 with a shot of Jack and tip. Hardly worth it. With that said, I've been there several times and enjoyed the atmosphere, but I'm now having second thoughts about returning.

Visiting Yakima today and planned to go to the Barrel House based on it's good Yelp reviews but bizarrely it is not open on Saturdays!!! Wtf??? So we wandered around and found this spot, also had good Yelp reviews and we were starving. It was very good! Nice atmosphere, comfortable and clean. Good beer list. We had wings, Tuscan nachos (unique and yummy!) Greek salad and kid's grilled cheese. Big portions, good food, good service. Good prices. No complaints.

Very good food, but a little pricey and the customer service was slow. It was during lunch rush so I forgive them and hence 4 stars. The establishment is clean and has a nice atmosphere. This is a place that Jon Taffer would probably like.

I remember coming to this place something like a decade ago....when it was Pete's---It was a club back then, it was alright, but I heard it was pretty scary, too. All of that's in the past though, we now have Second Street Grill: UPGRADE! We were taken care of here on a nice late summer night by Amber. We sat in the dining area (vs. near the bar), and we had a nice high-backed booth. The menu looked nice and had many options. First things first, we went for drinks. I can't remember what my girlfriend ordered, but it ended up being the drink of the night---very yummy cocktail. I went with a huckleberry drink...yeah, I'm a sucker for huckleberries. I know, I'm a chump. This drink was alright. It seemed a bit bland to me, and the huckleberry flavor wasn't that noticeable. For dinner I went with the Crusted Ahi Tuna. I've seen this type of dish before, and I had it the way it was mean to be--with the tuna seared on the outside, and noticeably raw on the inside (I'm a sushi fiend, so I didn't mind raw fish). This meal was decent. Similar to my drink, it seemed to lack something, but it was alright. Amber was great, and she offered great advice, and answered my list of questions. It's nice to come here during the summer because the windows/doors are open to the patio and street and this lends to a nice atmosphere. Although I could kind of still see the skeleton of old Pete's, this place is all its own, and is a nice place to hit up when in downtown Yakima. A solid 3.5 from my first visit.

I rarely leave negative reviews and you might think 3 stars is not negative since Yelp considers 3 stars A-OK, but the 3 stars is 100% for the food which was great. Other reviewers have noted the slow service. Not only was our service slow, but when we flagged down the hostess to ask when our order would be ready, she came back and told us that our waitress was working on our order and it would be ready, "as soon as possible." I believe we had been waiting at least 30 minutes, probably closer to 45 minutes. At any rate, as I was questioning the hostess as to what, "as soon as possible" meant, our server dropped off an appetizer at another table for a couple who had been seated a good 20 minutes after we arrived. I was about to hit the roof when I realized she was only giving them an appetizer and the other plates she was carrying was for us. Normally I wouldn't complain, in spite of the slow service, but I was having a low blood sugar reaction from not having eaten in a while. I was fine when we were seated. My wife noticed I was visibly shaking as I reached for a slice of the Greek pizza we had ordered. I totally understand that the pace in Yakima is slower than Seattle but I found the slow service to be totally unacceptable and the next time we come and visit our son in Yakima we will be dining elsewhere.

We traveled from Seattle and didn't know what to expect from Yakima in general. We were delightfully surprised! The place is trendy, the food is good, the servers helpful. They accommodate seamlessly both young groups and families. Indoors can get noisy (in a good, party-like way), so we chose to dine outdoors (the restaurant is on a quiet side-street) because we could hear each other better. Definitely recommend it.

  • Dave D.

I was really pleasantly surprised to find this place. I was visiting town the evening before Thanksgiving, when many of the restaurants were quiet or shutting down. The 2nd Street Grill was open, and packed. It is in a nicely restored building downtown. We had the asian sampler appetizer, which was excellent, and some drinks, which were also made very well. At about 8-9PM, the atmosphere changed from a lively restaurant/bar scene to more of a club, with louder music. We were still in the restaurant section, but kept getting fine service. I would have gone for a 4-star review, however the beer selection pushed them over the top to 5 stars. They had both local beers from central washington, as well as some of the Oregon and Western WA standards, on tap.

Was in town with a group of 8 looking for a place to eat my birthday dinner. Second Street Grill was recommended to us and after being there I can see why. It's an easy restaurant to find and parking across the street. First two hours are free and make sure you get a parking voucher from the machine to avoid a ticket. There is a flyer posted on the restaurant's front door as a reminder. The restaurant interior is large and relaxing. There is a lower floor where most of the tables are and then, a few steps up, a bar-ish area. In the back, on the way to the bathrooms, there is a lounge area in comfy chairs in front of a big screen tv, it looked pretty sweet. We started our dinner with drinks and cocktail menu was quite expansive and many traditional drinks had an exotic twist. I had an asian pear martini and it was delicious, but unfortunately not very strong. I was hardly buzzed, even on an empty stomach! They have a lot of interesting beers though and ordered a beer sampler to take advantage of their selection. The food itself is a bit pricey, but I'm assuming it's because a "nicer" restaurant in the area, therefore elevated prices. My friend and I ordered their ahi tuna dish that was $20ish. Favorite part? They use BOK CHOY for a side vegetable. Being that I'm Chinese I appreciated this immensely. Got to give them props for cooking it well too. :) Entrees come with soup and salad. When we got our food, everyone had positive opinions about their dish. Service was great too. Our server was chatty and quite hilarious, but his name escapes me. He also wrote all our orders on a his note pad, but wrote it teeny-tiny so it would take up the least amount space. Said it was a fun challenge he engaged in. For only having one meal in Yakima, I was glad we came here. Everyone, including myself, enjoyed themselves. If you're in town and looking for a nice place to eat, call in for a reservation and try out Second Street Grill.

We went here after a brief look at the (overpriced) Gasperetti's, and it turned to be pretty good. We had the ahi tuna (poke) appetizer, which consisted of ahi, cucumber, and avocado on fried wonton skins - which was pretty tasty actually, though a little light on the tuna. The salad I had - the chicken cobb salad - had a lot of blue cheese, bacon, and avocado. The chicken was a little dry. They came out with a small loaf of dark bread, a nice change from many places where you get some cheap white bread. The buffalo chicken salad had a nice dressing but the chicken was dry too. Service was pretty attentive and the food came out pretty quickly, plus this place has good hours for Yakima (e.g. they are open late.)

This restaurant was recommended to me by a local. It did not disappoint. Great building, atmosphere, food and service. Bar tender was knowledgeable about area craft beers and offered samples. I got a mushroom swiss burger and it was excellent. Price was in line for a restaurant burger. I'll visit them again on my next business trip. Best bar and Grill type restaurant I've come across so far in Yakima.

I grew up in Yakima and its nice to see more bistro and less chain restaurants here now. I came here with my mom on a Friday night. We sat on the patio, the atmosphere was great, not too loud, pretty busy. I had the Foccatia chicken sandwich which was good, juicy chicken and pesto mayo was delicious. Beer selection wasn't great. "Around the world" is a pretty generous description of the selection. I had a taste of the Yakima Craft Brewing IPA, not a fan, it was like a slightly hoppy pilsner; so I had the Ninkasi IPA. The service was great; prompt and friendly.

Great breakfast, professional staff right down to the buss boy who was hustling the whole time. Lost a star for their pizza. My fiance commented their crust looked like Tostinos a shocker when it came out reallly.

Ok owners... Leave the kid at home. Do not sit next to expense account and carry your kids legs into my dinner. Do not discuss shifts with your entiiiire staff. This is an adult restaurant. Poke warm. Hot wings typical. Side veggies salty. Happy hour wine good

The atmosphere, employees, and selection of beer, is absolutely spot on. The food is good, but nothing life changing. Highly recommend it for a great beer or two.

I went to this place for lunch with some coworkers. They liked it a little better than me, but I still liked it. The decor is excellent and the environment inside looks ten time better than from outside. It's a super chill place to eat, kinda of uppity though like the guy that drives an Audi coupe or Porsche that wears tucked in long sleeve button up shirts with jeans and loafers without socks. Well, the price was higher than I expected and I can't remember what I ordered to eat. So I guess it was OK but it must have not wowed me to remember or was awful enough to remember. They did have good service and a huge bar area.

I came over from Seattle for a quick stop in Yakima and this was my second time here last night for dinner. It was cool too because on 11/1 they had a huge Halloween party and the place was packed with great costumes! Despite that, our server was stellar and we had our drinks and food in record time. I kept commenting to them on how fast, yet good the service and food was. After 9:30pm or so they crank up the music... I enjoyed the atmosphere. I had a Reuben with marble rye and my pal had a 12oz. prime rib. Both were great and I'm still scratching my head on how fast, yet awesome the food and service was. Great job guys, keep it up! I'm fairly conservative in my ratings and while I selected 4 stars in lieu of 5, I assure you it's a 4 star ++! Enjoy it!

Had the nachos (so I'm a sucker for nachos), they were good. Have had other dishes and sandwiches. The food is always decent and the staff are mostly helpful. A nice break from the corporate fast food outing.

I took my wife and mother-in-law for Happy Hour today, February 15, 2014. What a terrible experience!!! We waited 70 minutes before even being waited on. The meatball sliders were a pathetic excuse for food. One small, cold meatball, without any hint of sauce, on a cold bun. My wife had a pork dish, again, cold, not even warm. My Mother-in Law's hamburger, yes...cold! All in all, a terrible dining experience. Others around us also complained of the poor service and the ill-prepared food. This is the last time I will EVER go to this place. Hopefully, the new restaurant being built across from Kana winery will be much better.

Went here for a friends birthday party, we were a decent sized group, 11 or so people, most ordered meals and drinks. Service was average or less than average as the restaurant was nearly empty. Great decor, love the atmosphere. The bar looks nice. Make sure you lock your car door. I had the English style fish and chips ($13), and it was very good, my girlfriend had some type of Italian pasta that she said was great, the prices were as expected, between $9-25$ for most meals. I would go here again, though not on a regular basis as for the price there are better places to eat.

Casual dining, great salad, nice selection of beers, pleasant and accommodating wait staff and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. We are here at a conference. Just the place to eat!

My experience here was horrible. It began poorly and proceeded to get worse and worse. This is clearly a popular spot with the locals, who were dining in large numbers and feasting boisterously as they bellowed at the sporting events broadcasted from the oversized televisions. After waiting for about seven minutes I finally secured the attention of the hostess, who kindly and apologetically explained that they had some new staff who were falling behind. I completely understand. Eventually a very polite, but exasperated man appeared to take my order, but then, while I was in mid-sentence, he expressed his apologies and scurried off in search for paper and a pen. He returned sometime later with a sad and dirtied scrap of paper (in fact I believe it may have been a napkin) and I ordered a locally crafted amber, the fettuccine alfredo, and the house salad. The beer soon arrived, like a hero, which was crisp and wonderful, but, just as I began to ease into the welcomed nectar, the flies appeared. First the small fruit flies in pairs, who timidly retreated from my waving hand, but then the larger fly descended on me, defiant of my defense and eager to share my food and, god forbid, my drink. The damn thing actually landed on the edge of my lip. Now that I was thoroughly annoyed, the food arrived, an unhappy little salad and a pasta more arid than the high desert that surrounds Yakima. At this point I was shocked to realize that this entire experience was actually making me angry, a realization that was further fueled by a bill that neared $30. I was tempted to leave no tip at all, but the staff was new after all.

2nd street grill is a great choice in Yakima. Other places it may be a 3 but in Yakima its actually a 5! A lot of thought and planning went into the decor and the menu. Creative and simple. Kids menu was CHEAP! $5 each item and none of our 3 could finish the serving. I hesitantly ordered Ahi, cooked perfectly. Fish and chips were very good. Service was quick and friendly. Creative martini list. Owner came out and checked in with a few tables. I will return again.

I've been to this place twice now, both for lunch. The atmosphere is nice, it's clean. The hostess was a little unenthused but then again it can't be that exciting of a job. They have macnjack (sp?)beer, my husbands fav. The food is good, I had a NY steak salad, was very good but at 15$ it should have been more. My husband had the Phili cheese steak sammie and said it was good. Their food in general is very over priced though!

After having an amazing hair and tanning experience next door I popped by for lunch. My friend and I had a handsome waiter who made some excellent suggestions. I had the salmon, she had the tuna and both were 5 stars. Atmosphere is fun, prices are reasonable, and the handsome waiter doesn't hurt either LOL! We will be back for sure!

This was pretty disappointing because walking in this place is really nice and the bar and lounge area is awesome. If you are just doing drinks and perhaps bar snacks such as wings and stuff then this would probably get 4 stars out of me. My mistake is that we all came for dinner. Why? Well let me break down the dishes. Seared Ahi Tuna with garlic mash potatoes and salad. Lets start with the salad. It was dry with bottled dressing on the side. They didnt even toss it. It was mostly baby spinach with a couple of pieces of romaine and 1 cherry tomato and 1, yes 1 round sliver of carrot. They should really be dressing these in the kitchen prior to service. It wasnt good. But the real offense was the tuna entree at 22 or 24 (forget which). To start with the Mash was dry and inedible from way too much raw or powdered garlic. It actually burned my mouth like hot sauce would and I have never experienced this. We sent it back and recieved a baked potato instead. Another diner had the rice and it was overcooked, tasteless and mushy. But the real shocker was the tuna. It was tasteless, beyond bland. It had no real texture or flavor. I dont understand it but the dish was a 1 star because you cant give 0 stars. We should not have had to pay for this terrible and expensive dish. The Steak sandwich was nothing to write home about either. It was not nearly as bad as the entree but it just failed to make me go wow. There is just no real love in the kitchen. The fries and onion rings are frozen, which given all the nearby produce in this region and the prices should be handcut and fresh. Its just disappointing. It would be a middle of the road rating. Just ok but nothing great. For dessert we shared the home made apple pie, and this is seemed was but I think it was a bit old because the texture of the crust was kinda mushy which tells me its been around a few days. It was barely warmed and again just ok. Service was good though and the place was clean but overall for the party, this was much more expensive than our dinner at 5 North and no where near the quality. Its a shame they were closed on Sunday... Sep10 2012- for getting the snarky compliment from steven A who probably works here trying to pad his reviews with his 5 stars best place in yakima pad, i m knocking this down from 2 to 1 stars. The problem is not I if your food is inedible. After all you cooked it. Ps i approved it for all to see.

Great choice to make in Yakima, or even if it were on the west side of the state. decor is quite inviting with brick walls and black and white baseball photos, and tv's abound. The staff is what makes this place so fantastic. Travis, Nate, & Amber are all-stars (baseball pun-intended). Hard to believe that this place was once the number one place to find police officers at 2am in yakima! Great move by the owner!

I was visiting a friend who is local, who goes here for lunch alot, we tried it for dinner, and I really enjoyed it. We shared some appetizers and all were tasty, even the ahi, which always suprises me for being a landlocked location! Our server Frank, was very friendly and acomodating, when my friends margarita was too sour, they quickly replaced no questions asked and got the mixture just right. Nice atmosphere too.

This is your typical bar and grill. I'm always happy to support a local place though, so we stopped by here. Their beer list is good, not great. And when I asked for a recommendation on wine the server seemed a bit lost. We just had appetizers and they were pretty standard. All in all this place is a standard bar and grill, nothing special but nothing bad.

Wow, creative inexpensive drinks ($6.50 mojito, what?!) Asian-inspired/fusion type menu, tasty apps and a superlative buffalo chicken salad. (The secret is the buffalo flavor is in the salad dressing. Brilliant.) Good service, good food, long menu. Everything I tried was tasty, from the strawberry lemonade to the Appetizer Sampler. I'd have gone back if I'd had more time. Great spot.

So after a long day, the hotel attendant highly recommended the 2nd Street grill. Since the playoff were on we decided to sit at the bar. The waiter didn't seem to interested took our drink orders then disappeared for 20min after serving them up. When he did appear he ignored us totally for the larger table that followed us in by 10 min, with a sneer on face. I had to find the manager just to settle up so we could get the heck out of there. Lovely restaurant, nice atmosphere, but the service is not worth your well earned money. Manager picked up our drinks but still rather would have had a relaxing meal. Is the food good, didn't even get a chance to order.

My wife and I have been here several times now with our orders ranging from full dinner to appetizers to the late night menu. I'm never disappointed in this place. They pride themselves on a sort of Asian fusion, and it works out well. If that's not your thing, don't worry; there are plenty of American stand-bys, and a few Italian ones as well. (The Sausage Pomodoro is excellent.) In addition to good food, they boast an excellent selection of taps, a full bar, and a decent wine menu. The staff is friendly and helpful and the restrooms are refreshingly clean. My only complaint about Second Street Grill is that the music is usually too loud, and it's hard to hear conversations. But that's about it. This is a good place to go for an informal date, or to take the whole family, which I see a lot of people do. Oh, and in the summertime, they have a mist machine on the sidewalk. I don't know if anyplace else in Yakima has that.

I would not give the food 3 stars (maybe 2 for the food) but the bar is a lot of fun and has a fun atmosphere. Great place to watch a game. This is the only reason I bump up to the 3 star. Friendly staff that make some decent drinks, along with a pretty good beer selection on tap.

This is a nice spot in Yakima with average food... Nothing wonderful on the menu yet, but I heard that they have a new chef, so we shall see I guess. I do like the beer selection and they recently started a mug club. I did get the details and will join on my next visit. The mugs are 22 oz, $40 to join the club for the year, you get a free beer with that. So when you go in you pay for a pint but get the 6 extra ounces for free, geed deal in my book! So go there if you want t a good beer selection and want to be seen, it's always busy at 2nd Street!

Very good lunch. The Avocado bruschetta had fresh avacado and tomatoes. The Steak salad had a zesty dressing. Did not appreciate the small piece of bone I bit down on, twice. The outdoor seating was perfect for the day.

The place still sucks but I end up there on the rare occasion.... Usually when I'm 3 sheets to the wind. Ahi tuna salad with wasabi mayo dressing?...Ugh, gag me with a spoon. 1/2 off for apps at happy hour on Friday is a redeeming factor though I must admit. If you want something that isn't so cookie cutter and much better food then head to Sports Center. Can't miss the neon, rotating, sign of a hunter front and center on Yakima Ave.

A 4star in Yakima...wow! Nice patio on a hot day. Prompt service and food to please all four of us. Son#1 had classic club with fries ($11)and was in heaven. Son #2 had chili burger, served open faced with the steakhouse chili with a side of clam chowder ($12). Burger was very tasty and huge and the clam chowder was full of clams and nicely seasoned. I had the best turkey cobb salad EVER. ($13) It was so fresh with flavorful blue cheese and large avocado slices. The man had philly cheese steak ($10) and was very satisfied (he's a tough critic). We were totally surprised!

Brick and dark wood lend to a great atmosphere. Generally nice waiters, defiantly better in the bar area. I will defiantly return for a drink or to watch the game. But if you are looking for an outstanding meal or good bang for your buck go somewhere else. Over the last 6months 2nd street has increased their prices and their quality is decreasing. 11dollars for eggs Benedict. 15dollars for a wrap sandwich? A little pricey in my mind for anywhere but especially Yakima. So if you aren't hungry and want a fun and great place to chill I would highly recommended but once again not for their food.

Second Street Grill is definately a good choice in Yakima. I tend to enjoy the service better in the bar than in the main dining area. We have had several experiences where we waited at least an hour to get our food when we were in groups of about 6 or more. My husband and I enjoy ordering one of the large salads and the artichoke pizza and sharing them. The asian appetizer plate is good and the steak sandwich is also good. As a previous poster stated, the food quality and taste seems to go up and down depending on the day.

Second Street Grill is a great new restarant that was much needed in Yakima. I have gone there a couple times and keep on going back for more. Everytime I had something different and enjoyed it. I haven't ran into the frozen food problem like M P. The waiters are always attentive, and service is very quick. I also find the place to be very beautiful inside with the original brick exposed.

Great breakfast, served into the afternoon, which is great after a long night and driving across the state the next morning. The ambience is set in an up-to-date sports bar in a brick building with ample outside seating off of the main road.

I absolutely love this place! The food is amazing and well priced for a nice place. I had the BBQ bacon burger and it is amazing. The fries are to die for, don't substitute! The only problem is the noise level, it is always very loud.

Ok owners... Leave the kid at home. Do not sit next to expense account and carry your kids legs into my dinner. Do not discuss shifts with your entiiiire staff. This is an adult restaurant. Poke warm. Hot wings typical. Side veggies salty. Happy hour wine good

Enjoy it!

Prices are a little high but a classier establishment for Yakima. Beer selection is fair and appetizers are good sized for a late night snack. Friendly service as well.

Consistently good service and great food. Great beer selection and good happy hour! My favorite is the Red Light Chicken Burger, but everything's good. You can't go wrong.

I promise.

Second time here first review. Great happy hour on of the best I found in Yakima. Half off apps and select drinks. They make you feel like your the only customer even though there are many. The food was very good on both occasions. I wouldn't hesitate to come back.
