Ate here last weekend while on a fishing trip with some friends. It was a busy Saturday night but the service was prompt and attentive. The food was mediocre at best. We all got the clam chowder which was ok, I've had a lot better other places. Another thing to note that one bowl had a totally different consistency that the rest. It was very thin like they ran low so they watered some down to fill the last bowl. The surf melt looked delicious, however it really lacked the flavor of a good seafood melt sandwich. Next time I'm in town I think I'll pass on this place and try something else.

I honestly wish I could rate it no stars. The service was entirely unacceptable. They sat us in the very back next to the kitchen when the ENTIRE area was practically empty. Then, they served up lukewarm clam chowder that tasted like someone had decided to pour a whole can of pepper right into it with a side of stale bread. My ten month old immediately reached for the butter at which point, the waitress should have realized that she grabs for anything and everything (as most babies do). About twenty minutes after the soup had arrived, the seafood louie we had ordered arrived. The waitress literally walked around to where my baby was sitting in her high chair and placed it well within reach right in front of her causing us to hurriedly push a lit candle and plates to the side. Aside from that mishap it looked promising until upon further inspection, I had come to the realization that the salad was not only wilted and not fresh, but the majority of it consisted of arugula. There was barely any lettuce, spinach or (you guessed it) seafood. The staff was rude, never checked on us and the food over all was not fresh by anymeans. I will not be returning and they will be getting a very poor tip. Don't waste your time or money at this overly priced disappointment.

Nice view of the water. Clean modern feel to the restraunt inside which isn't expected based on the way the outside of the building looks. Waitress was friendly but disappeared leaving us with empty water glasses several times throughout the meal. The fried calamari was ok but the dipping sauce made it better. The calamari was served with fried onions and peppers similar to fajitas but were really greasy. We also had the clam chowder which was good but on the watery side. I ordered the crab cakes and my fiancé had the seafood alfredo. The crab cake meal came with two small crab cakes which lacked flavor and the small portion was definitely not worth the nearly $20 we paid. The fiancé enjoyed the fish in his pasta but the sauce was watery. Overall the food was lack luster and over priced, the service was flakey and we left underwhelmed.

We had dinner on two different nights. Good food and good service. With a full service bar and beer's on tap.

I decided to give this a place a try, went in on a friday during their happy hour. I ordered tall Mac and Jack, a glass of wine, and grilled fish tacos. The beer was excellent, the house wine was really good, and the fish tacos were too salty. Maybe the cook had a heavy hand that day on the seasonings. However for the price, you can't beat it. Maybe I will have to go back and try something different.

Great food friendly staff. We love the "Best Bloody Mary in Washington". The dinner special is a great deal and very good food. All the food is very good even when we don't have a Bloody Mary.

For a fish place in a fishing town the fish tacos should be bomb... But they weren't. The waitress was pretty inattentive for how few people were there. She also made the mojito. Baaad mojito with no flavor other then the alcohol. I did like the French fries though. Super crispy. But the nachos were like the chips were made earlier or from the store an fried up earlier in the day. The only reason for the two stars is the fries. It took 5 minutes from the point the waitress left to get water before she came back. It was well over that before she even offered. I was out of water before she took the order Not something that I would recommend for a tourist. I wont be back

I tried the Surf melt combo thing for lunch it said it came with 1/2 a sandwich melt, a cup of chowder and a small caesar salad. The soup was ok but the salad was tiny, like literally two bites of salad. And the Surf melt was like cat food topped with velveeta cheese.. GROSS needless to say I will not be coming back here. The prices are ridiculous for the quality of food you get here.

We were in Westport this weekend my Mother in law and I ran to town for Fish and Chips . I Said let's run over to half moon and grab a quick drink we walk in a nice lady said hello and sat us down I said two mi Tie please we only have 15 mins here's my card . She said ok and handed it to the bar tender 10 minutes later still not drinks I walked up to the bar and asked do I order drinks here she said yes I have your card I will make the drinks you have people in line before you that I have to make I told her she didn't have to be so hasty and I was just asking and I said I only had 15 minutes she was a total bitch and you should get better employees working behind the bar if you want that place in Westport to stay open sad to see such sad service .

Horrible! The waitress was loud and obnoxious. She was rude to an elderly couple at the table next to us because they payed with 100 dollar bill. We waited forever for her to take our order. Then when our food came the prime rib and the rest of our meal was cold. It was also over cooked and tough. When we told her the food was bad she argued with us! We don't recommend this place at all! I didn't even want to give it one star...

High prices for average food. We had the seafood melt and it was 'soggy' tasting; the 'home made' chips looked and tasted like tortia chips from a bag - disappointing. Beer overpriced as well. View of harbor is what you pay for. Our waitress was friendly and helpful.

This place was horrible! We took a party of 14 people into the restaurant for lunch. The place was only partially occupied but we were told since we had a party larger than 8 people that we could only order from a limited menu that only had 5 or 6 item none of which was suitable for children. We inquired about options and were told even if we split up the group we couldn't order from the full menu. The hostess and server were very rude when we asked questions. We took our large group and left. On the way out another family told us the food was awful anyways.

I wish I would have done my homework and checked out where to eat in Westport BEFORE we walked into this terrible restaurant! We waited almost 30 minutes for a table even though their were many open tables in the bar...where they eventually sat us anyway. The server was nice enough and took our drink and food order right away (remember we had 30 minutes waiting for our table to decide what we wanted). I got my beer in about 5 minutes which was ok since the bartender was really backed up-but my husband waited 10 minutes for his diet coke which the server brought from the back..not the bar. Not sure why both drinks weren't brought at the same time...then waited 30 minutes for our food. We actually asked to cancel our order right as the food arrived so we said never mind we will go ahead and eat. I got the shrimp and crab cocktail and the mussels cooked in beer. My husband got the fish and chips. The crab cocktail was good the mussels were overly sweet and pretty small. My husbands fish and chips were in edible. Literally worst then bad fast food. Obviously frozen and soggy and gross. How could they not serve fresh fish and chips when fresh fish is caught right outside their front door. We asked them to take the fish and chips off the bill and we quickly ran out of there and to the FISH sHACK across the street where we devoured the very best Halibut fish and chips we ever had. This place needs a rescue or to be SHUT DOWN!

Completely disappointed!!! 1st the service was subpar at best, the place was dirty, we order cocktails and fish tacos! The fish tacos seemingly appeared to be made with fish sticks??? For a bar on the beach I would expect fresh fish! We sat at the bar and rarely did the bartender even make contact with us, we were the only ones at the bar, I think partially because every other seat at the bar was filthy! I then asked about buckets hanging from the ceiling... Thinking maybe they were for buckets of beer club or something fun... She states those are to collect leaks, ugh, and icky!!! Well, after all this we get our tab and the normal drink we always drink that is usually about 5 to 6 dollars was an alarming $8.50!!! When we asked to make sure it wasn't a mistake... She was so rude and said yep that's the price and walked away!!! Rude=zero tip!!! I understand this is a small town but do you think the reason your business is failing isn't because of your location rather your lack of service and decent food!!! As one of the only bars in town especially on the water... I think the we don't care attitude is appalling ...my husband and I love small towns and love spending our time and money in them! We will probably not give this restaurant a second chance!!! Super sad!

We'e eaten here on multiple trips, each time hoping it was better than before. However it doesn't improve, its always the same. Food is over priced for what you get. On one occasion we got a note from another diner suggesting that we not order the special on the menu. The service wasn't bad, it was just the food we weren't pleased with.

Save your money and do not even consider eating at this place. We visit Westport a lot and have never ventured into the Half Moon Bay and now we know why. Our waitress was very friendly, but that was the only positive during our $50 dollar lunch. We ordered some nachos to start and were served a few chips in a basket with cold cheese sauce and microwaved ground beef. We could have gotten better nachos from a snack shack at a baseball field. We then waited 45 minutes for the rest of our order which was absurd since we were the only table in the main dining room and the bar wasn't even full. Three tables that were seated 15 minutes after us got their food prior to our waitress bringing a basket of rolls and saying she was sorry but our order was held up due to her dropping our daughters plate so they had to recook her food. We were ready to leave as another 30 minutes went by but when we were getting up, she came around the corner with our order. Looking back, we should have refused it and left right then and there. My daughter had decided on the kids cheeseburger which was the size of a small sand dollar. The bun was twice the size of the burger and the fries under cooked and tasteless. My wife and I ordered the lunch special that consist of half a surf melt which was bland and didn't have a lot of the dungeness crab and bay shrimp they advertised on the menu. The Caesar Salad had way too much garlic and the lettuce was watery and limp. The World Famous Clam Chowder was OK but like most of the food, it lacked flavor and seasoning. On our way back to our condo I stopped at the corner grocery store / gas station for a few quick supplies. After looking at their hot box filled with fried chicken and burritos, we would have been much better off eating from there instead of wasting our time and money at this place.

They had clean rest rooms. There! I had one nice thing to say about them. Almost walked out waiting for a table! I actually turned to my friend and said "In two minutes, I'm walking out if we haven't been seated by then." The waitress must have heard me and took us to our seats. The place was almost empty so I'm not sure why it would have taken so long. The three of us made it easy on them, we all ordered fish and chips. It's a fish place right??? 35 minutes later we finally got our over cooked fish AND over cooked chips. I was starving so I gagged mine down while my wife and friend couldn't eat all theirs as it was too over cooked. BTW, our orders with 2 beers came to almost $60!

Food was mediocre and way over priced, service was slow, about 45 mins until we got our food. Waitress was nothing special. Fries were pretty good though.

Horrible. Lexi who seated us was horribly rude. She wanted us in a certain section and when we asked to sit in a bigger booth she had the nerve to argue and tell us they where the same size. But the clearly where not. Prior to that she tried to keep us in the same section but at a table that again was for 4 people not 5. She ripped the menu out of our sons hand telling him to not rip into them. He was just holding a pack of crayons waiting to color. I would advise not to come here and we will not return. The food is horrible and the service is worse. And some of the slowest I have seen. The only good thing is view and location.

Came for lunch during the crab fest and the service was horrible. The hostess made us wair for a table in the bar that was already available, which was a complete waste of time. Waited another 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and get drink order. That was another waste of time. Severely understaffed. Don't waste your time.

We were looking for a place for a cocktail and a snack, where we could also watch the Seahawks play, so we passed up a couple other local spots that looked busy. Nice location by the water, full bar ,nice ambiance...but we spent almost $100 for 2 seafood appetizers ( that were "ok") and 4 drinks! I ordered a Caesar to drink... And it was almost $4 more than a standard Bloody Mary!) really?!

I was pretty hungry so only glanced at Yelp and noticed a couple of 2 stars so we weren't expecting much. It was awful! I had the fish and chips, $18.00 and they were obviously previously frozen as were the fries and vegetables. I've had better battered frish from Trader Joe's. You can't even cut up a potato? Whoever gave it the 2 stars was being generous. It's unfortunate as it's an awesome view from the patio. This place needs Robert Irvine...Restaurant Impossible...where are you? Just have a cocktail and call it good. Although they did mess that up by tring to pass off house bourbon and water for a Crown on the rocks. Support another restuarant until they get it together or they won't get the message!

Service and food are always just perfect here. We have been coming here for years and love it. The bar serves amazing drinks, and they are consistently keeping the menu updated and fresh. If you are going for a late dinner, you can expect to wait a while, but it is worth it. There is a great atmosphere, we can come off the surf and have a casual dinner with the ambiance of a fine resturant.

Saturday July 19th with Reservations table by the kitchen Wow what can I say having never eaten there I would have thought that being on the coast they would have good Prices NOT!! All of their food is way over priced and Bad I had better food last night in Tacoma at the Ram. My wife had the fish and chips $17.99 two tiny pieces of fish looked like a guppy. Our Good friends Bill and Mary Bill and I had the Chicken fried steak $18.00 that looked and tasted like breaded hamburger. Not like a steak that is put through a tenderizer but hamburger with filler. Mary's Cioppino $24.99 was very dry no broth or sauce with a lot of shrimp did not see any crab and or salmon. If your going to West Port Go eat at The Fish Shack that's what we should have done. The Only Thing I liked was my Widmer Hefe Beer. Tourist beware

My husband and I have been here a few times and have never been disappointed. Last night I ordered a "beach bum" drink. Not only was it tasty but they gave me a full martini glass as well as the shaker which filled my glass 4 more times! Awesome! We had the Mac&Jacks mussels for an appetizer. By far the best mussels I've had. The beer flavored broth was off the chain amazing! The surf melt for dinner was very good! An open face sandwich with hot crab/shrimp/cheese melt on top. My husband had a cup of clam chowder which was really good. He also had fish&chips. They were cooked nicely but lacked flavor which was surprising since everything else was great. It didn't bother us though, it just needed more flavor. The only "con" is one time (about a year ago) there was live music (which don't get me wrong I love) but it was just too loud for a small area. If the amp and mic had been turned down a notch it would have been better. I love live music but I also like to be able to have a conversation when I'm having a nice dinner. We were worried there would be live music again but there wasn't. Other than that I like Half Moon Bay and will continue to come back.

I must say this absolutely the best clam chowder with lobster on top that have have ever had the pleasure of putting in my mouth. I would make the three hour drive just for that alone! Also a must try is the spinach and artichoke dip with of corse crab in top! To round it all out with the fish bowl drink!! Mmmmm!!

  • Carrie A.

Every time I come here, I am disappointed, and tonight was no different. The prices are high and the food is mediocre. A crab cake dinner is $22.99 and comes with only two crab cakes. The garlic chicken was surprisingly deep fried. The steak was not great. The service was good. Wait time for a table and also for food was reasonable and the waitress was very nice. Unfortunately, they would not allow us to use 2 gold cards for a party of four. Had we thought to ask we would have either dined separately or not come at all as we ended up paying $25 more than we expected for a dinner that was disappointing. We like to support local businesses in our home town but this will be our last time at the Half Moon Bay Bar & Grill. We will continue to support the Wildcats by purchasing gold cards but the HMBB&G discount will go unused for this family.

I'm surprised at all of the awards tacked up everywhere. Every time I go to Westport I check out the Half Moon Bay hoping it will be decent food. It's by far the best location in town and seems like it would have decent food. Each time I've been sorely disappointed. (last visit in October 2011) The chowder was thick and floury with very little redeeming taste and the salad was over dressed and soggy. I dared not order an entree. My recommendation. Stick with drinks in this establishment.

It was late when we checked in to our room and we noticed that not much was open so we decided to eat at this restaurant associated with our hotel. The restaurant actually looked quite nice on the inside, many updates. I should have gone hungry. My brother and mom both got the "house made", "award-winning" clam chowder. That was not very good, and decidedly from a can. I asked if I could just get a cheeseburger, well the answer should have been no. I got my "cheeseburger" on the same tray of another couple that came in 20 minutes after us. Needless to say both my mom and brother were done eating before I got my burger. It came with a bunch of ham or bacon piled on it, soggy limp lettuce and onions and the kicker was, it was under cooked. It was pink! This is not the type of restaurant I would trust getting ground beef that is not well done. The attempt to fix the problem was feeble and the charge for the burger...dun...dun...dun. $13 So, there you have it, terrible food, terrible service, and terrible prices. All the reviews that rave about happy hour prices must be just drinking alcohol or have at least had a few before they ate their food. Which is interesting, because we all got beers and they were barely cold and my brother got a skunky corona.

terrible service... Except they do have one waitress that is a diamond in the rough, I wish I remebered her name! after we ordered our food, 50 mins later she came out telling us that the kitchen had not even started to make our food yet and that they are out of one of the dishes we ordered. We are pretty easy going usually but we were starving! She saw that we were a little annoyed ( we had waited 50 mins for her to tell us that our food was not started yet) She gave us our food for free, even our beer... I would not go back to this place, but She was super nice and very refreshing.

Paid 1799 for the crab cake appetizer. Look beautiful at swirled crispy onions on top came with those delicious side salad but were two of the smallest crabcakes I've ever seen and then I bit into them The taste of raw onion punched me right in the face my wife had one of the hamburgers it was homemade and very delicious I would save my money not get the crabcakes and get the hamburger!

If you are there for happy hour do not allow them to seat you, do not stop and chat with the hostess, go left into the bar!! We have eaten at every restaurant in the Westport/Grayland area and can honestly say this was probably the worst experience ever in the 10 years we have been coming to Grayland/Westport (we are here four or five times a year). We decided to stay at the Islander RV Park and as we were checking in the clerk at the desk really played up the 3-6pm Happy Hour and the restaurant itself. We had mentioned it was our 22nd anniversary getaway, she congratulated us and offered a 10% off coupon for the Bar & Grill - I'm pretty sure everyone staying there gets one. Around 5pm (on Friday night) my husband and I decided to check out the happy hour at the bar since we had been told by several locals that their fish tacos and appetizers were pretty good there. I'm always in search of a place with good, grilled fish tacos. As we approached the restaurant we were welcomed by a hostess at the door and without asking if we wanted to sit in the dining room or bar, the hostess directed us into the dining room while making a comment about the bar being packed but we could have a seat with a great view in the dining area. I did see an open table in the bar that was much cozier but figured that it must have been taken and that they were now splitting the customers between servers since there was only one other couple in the dining room area and almost every table in the bar was full. She seated us at a table set for four with a view that was literally 8 feet on the other side of the dividing wall. I asked if the happy hour specials would be honored in the dining room area and the hostess said sure not a problem as she took away the two extra place settings. Within seconds our server was there giving us menus, letting us know about the daily special and asking for our drink order. I asked if the happy hour prices were being honored in the dining area and she assured me that they were and I asked about what beers were on tap. She recited them off and even offered to get me a sample of a local red ale which was on tap. She brought our water, my husband's drink and my sample very quickly. I went ahead and ordered a glass of the ale. Alas, she returned with a half full glass and apologized that the keg blew and they were all out but I could have the half glass anyways and asked if there was something else I'd like. I went ahead and got a sample of another beer and we let her know that we were there for happy hour and asked if there was an appetizer menu - she said that the small plates were the appetizers and I went ahead and ordered a full a glass of the 2nd beer. When she brought my glass of beer we told her were ready to order some appetizers. Since we were under the assumption it was happy hour and the appetizer's were probably smaller sized we ordered crabcakes, shrimp cocktail and pork lumpia. The crabcake was absolute bliss to eat and the sauce for the lumpia was excellent but then it's pretty hard to mess up a sweet chili oil. My husband was pretty impressed with the shrimp cocktail too, we thought what a nice change to have regular sized appetizers. When our server checked back with us she offered to bring us some house rolls. The rolls looked more like very small biscuits slathered with melted butter. They were the driest rolls we've ever had and very disappointing. We decided to skip dinner and dessert because we were so full. Then came the check: 2 Long Island Ice Teas, a beer and 3 appetizers were a whopping $67 plus tax. My husband about fell off the chair and I thought oh my goodness our server must have forgot we were there for happy hour. We called her over to ask about the check, explained we were were under the impression that the appetizers were half price for happy hour. She said the hostess who seated us failed to tell her, apologized if there was an error and and she would see about getting our bill adjusted. She returned a few minutes later mentioned that the happy hour appetizers are different each day and that a copy of the bar/happy hour menu was tucked in the folder with the adjusted bill and quickly left. Well, lo and behold... what a difference 8 ft and a half wall apparently makes. The happy hour/bar menu is completely different than the dining room menu. There were the fish tacos we heard the locals rave about along with a totally different menu. Our bill - with our 10% off coupon and the adjustment for my beer it came down to $60 with tax. No adjustment to our appetizer prices. Had it not been happy our we wouldn't of had an issue with $ but considering we were never given a separate happy hour menu I should have complained more but we paid the bill,we feel like "bait and switch" victims and left swearing to never eat there again. Our happy hour visit with the tip cost more than our RV spot did for 2 nights.

Our intentions for our vacation in Westport, Wa didn't go as we planned due to the stormy weather. It was too late to avoid penalty for our room bookings so we kept our reservations. The choice to eat at Half Moon Bay Bar And Grill was made easy by the lack of choices available during this time of year. It's not tourist season and the weather wasn't pleasant. Most shops by the water either closed early or didn't open. We're originally from the islands so we are familiar with most of the food items on menu, but when we travel we look for new experiences. If there had been more choices we probably would've gone elsewhere. It was a pleasant first experience for us at Half Moon Bay Bar And Grill. The wait-staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered a few items from the Happy Hour Menu as well as a few Award Winning items available. All food items ordered came out looking fresh and tasting Ono! We especially loved the tall glasses our beers arrived in and the blue cheese fries. It's always our goal to try new things and places when we travel, so the blue cheese fries was a first for us. We would return in the future to try the popular chicken item on their menu and some cold beers! Perhaps, their popular Bloody Mary drink, too!!

When vacationing in Westport we came upon the Half Moon Bay Bar & Grill during happy hour. This meant $3 glasses of wine & an assortment of tasty inexpensive menu offerings. (Particularly good were the house-made potato chips and the barbeque chicken sliders.) The Half Moon Bay is a cosy, casually attractive spot with a deck, and interior dining room, lining the harbor. Ryan was our server; she was friendly & attentive. There aren't many good restaurants in Westport and all things considered, this is the only one I'd return to.

Was in Westport for the halibut opener and this past weekend. Make the mistake of coming to this restuarant to eat. The food is over priced, portions are small, the food is mediocore and the servers lackadaisical and rude. Went with different group of people this past weekend and dispite my warnings on the prices and service, the group went anyways. The restuarant lived up to my warnings. And the group got an "I told you so".

I really want to love this place but consistency is seriously lacking. Servers are professional and do a nice job but the food quality keeps going downhill. The first time we went the chowder was amazing as was the fresh halibut. The next time the chowder was terrible and then some other things were off and since they changed the menu (summer of 2010), we never go here for dinner. Admittedly, the bloody marys are pretty amazing and double as appetizers (or as I like to call them, pureed salad with vodka dressing) and if you have enough of them, you can forget that the food is horrible...these days, we only go here for drinks and great views of the marina.

We came in just in time to make our check in and asked if the restaurant was still open. When we came into the bar we were greeted promptly and friendly. The server said they were closing but asked the cook to make us food from the bar menu anyway. How nice. I ordered the fish and chips which were pretty tasty. Fried just right. Not too crunchy or undercooked. They didn't have any champagne but when we told the server it was our anniversary she gave us our choice of free dessert! Super! The server was friendly and chatted with us while closing things up. The next morning we came down for breakfast since we stayed in the attached hotel. To our disappointment there was NO breakfast menu. I don't understand how a restaurant that is part of a hotel doesn't have breakfast. I ended up ordering onion rings. They tasted good but I just wasn't in the mood for them. Despite this we came back for dinner and enjoyed our meals. I had the grilled salmon and my husband had the chicken Alfredo. Overall a decent place with a cool view. I think they're missing out by not serving breakfast though.

My husband and t went to Westport for a weekend away and stayed in town. We were told another restaurant nearby was "the best in Gray's Harbor!" But, were disappointed so we headed back into Westport and found Half Moon Bay Bar & Grill. Thank goodness! We got there at the tail end of happy hour and were seated quickly in the bar. We had a nice view of the water. We liked that the tables weren't crammed next to each other and there was plenty of room, it gave it a very relaxed feeling. We had open faced seafood sandwiches on cibatta bread that were delicious and the leftovers made for a great lunch the next day! I can't say that we plan on returning to Westport anytime soon, but when we do, this is where we'll eat!

As some have stated before me, the bloody mary seems a little over priced. That being said, judging by photos it looks delicious. However, I cannot confirm that since I've never had one. My wife and I went early afternoon with the intention of having bloody mary's. After staring at 3 open tables from the "please wait to be seated" sign for over 20 minutes with the hostess repeatedly telling us that it will only be a couple more minutes, we decided it wasn't worth it and left.

It's too bad I cannot give it a ZERO stars review or I was hoping a more realistic -5 stars. This place should be on "Kitchen Nightmares"! ...the food was horrible and expensive. It was not worth my time...Please go elsewhere. (I'm warning you!)

We went with a group of 8 on a Sat night, plenty of seating available, there were 6 other tables eating. Waitress was good even though they were understaffed for the night apparently. Nothing fancy here, but a decent menu. Several had the clam chowder which I would rate a 3.5, the seafood fettuccine in Alfredo sauce was solid and a hefty portion. The mussels were Penn Cove and was also a decent dish, the Ahi tuna salad seemed a bit light on the Ahi, but was decent. The Salmon was pretty thin and relatively tasteless (2 stars for that one). My daughter had mushroom stuffed ravioli in a red sauce and it was quite good (3.5 stars). Their creme brulé was very mediocre, the flourless chocolate cake was a large portion but just OK for taste. All in all, solid 3 stars.

My hubby and I absolutely love this place during happy hour. They have wonderful happy hour appetizers and drinks and Mary our bartender was so nice we feel like we're visiting a friend when we're there. If you're near this restaurant between 3-6, we highly recommend you stop in. The entrance looks a bit run down but inside there is a hidden gem.

I really can't understand all the poor or below average reviews for this place. Stopped in while visiting my sister who recently moved to to Aberdeen. There were 5 adults and 4 young children. We were quickly accommodated and the service was very good. Server immediately brought crackers to keep the little ones calm. I had some hesitation because I pulled up my yelp app on my phone after we were seated and saw all the negative reviews, but I was very pleasantly surprised. We had Fish & Chips, Clam Chowder, Fried Clams & Oysters and all were very good. I didn't have any drinks, but husband was happy they carry Guinness. Only negative was it was a little hot in the restaurant.

This is a pretty fun restaurant in Westport with views of the Marina. It has an island flair with surfboards and such present, so my Hawaiian born hubby was happy to find yet another bit of Aloha in the Northwest. Half Moon is apparently known for their Bloody Mary's, which I ordered. I think the draw is the garnishments which go beyond the usual to include shrimp, cheese, and pepperoni. More impressive to me were the crispy oysters. Hands down the best appetizer I've had in a very long time. I highly recommend them! The rest of the food was fine. I had a nice crab stuffed salmon dish that was enjoyable. They do stock Kona Brewing Company delights, so drink up and enjoy your time in Westport!

Absolutely awful! Paid $18 for a completely inedible 'fish and chips'. Tasted like it had freezer burn, rubber and was extremely overcooked. Out of our party of seven, not one person thought their food was even decent. We ate late night bar food down the street that was 1000 times better and 1/4 of the price! Will never return here!!

I created this account because the experience is so bad...just like last time. I go to Westport regularly and usually give Half Moon another try about once a year (yesterday was a friend's b-day and her family really wanted to get the "Best Bloody Mary" after some beach fun). We sat down reasonably quickly and waited, and waited. The waitress came over to take our drink order, and then we waited, and waited. The drinks came and then she disappeared and we waited. (The place wasn't very busy and there were several servers) The "Best Bloody Mary" tasted like watery tomato juice with a "skewer of convience store tidbits" (just like it had last year and the year before). "The Best Bloody Mary" became a joke for the rest of the day and could be for years to come. Another guy at the table got her attention and we ordered. And then we waited... Food arrived (yeah!---uh, that's it? well, it'll be really good this time). I order the razor clam basket and it was piteful. A carny-sized handful of fries and two medium razor clams that were burnt on the ends and raw in the mid-section (how do you do that?). I'm a big guy and have been described as a goat more than once in life, but I didn't eat this meal. I got the only raw food at the table, but everybody was unhappy about the small portions and lack of flavor. Oh yeah, the basket bread... leathery dough-balls soaked in what i hope was butter. On the way out, I stopped by the kitchen/wait station to tell the cook that the clams were raw. I was a cook for a couple of years and raw food can get people sick and can get staff fired. The wait staff asked (very nicely and apologeticlly) if I was complaining about the food, too (I guess I wasn't the only one that day). I felt bad because they looked so sheepish. I really, really hope that this will be my last time in there. The resturant's got such a nice view of the harbor and a nice, relaxed atmoshpere that I really want to lke it.

Went in after we checked in at the RV camp for a very late dinner. Previously I had seen signs advertising that they had "THE BEST BLOODY MARY", and now I can HANDS DOWN say they DO NOT HAVE THE BEST BLOODY MARY! It was probably the most bland bloody mary I have ever had. It just tasted like tomato juice...$12 TOMATO JUICE!!! Now albeit they put all sorts of crap on top (including a shrimp)...I would gladly get rid of all the junk on top for some flavor IN the drink. The food was pretty good...about a 3 on the food scale...I had the crab cakes (which had way too much Mayo...seriously I should taste CRAB in a crab cake, it's not called MAYO CAKE) and the clam chowder. The clam chowder was ok, very thick but very little clam or clam flavor. My boyfriend had a pork dish (sorry don't remember what exactly) and he seemed to like it. He rated his food as being good. The service was good, no wait but then again it was after 10 PM when we sauntered in the door. The view is nice as it's right on the harbor....but the expensive tomato juice they pass off as a bloody mary and mediocre (at best) crab cakes leave me giving this place a 2.

To make the story short, this place SUCKS!! My boyfriend and I came here last night during our visit to Westport, only because no other restaurants were open (besides a very expensive place). We had been to the Half Moon Bay before and really didn't want to relive the experience, but we succumbed to our hunger and gave it another try anyway. What a bad idea. It was just the way I remembered. A really nice place, right on the water. We came in an sat ourselves, as the sign suggested. My boyfriend is in a wheelchair right now after a car accident, so we spent some time figuring out the best place for him to sit. While looking around the restaurant for a good five minutes, several staff members passed us without acknowledging our presence or offering to help seat us. After finally sitting down, our waitress came over. She was sufficiently polite, however emotionless. It was as if she was just waiting for her shift to be over. No smile, no "how are you?", just the most unenthusiastic attitude ever (again, just like I remembered). She brought our drinks (one beer and a lemonade), we ordered two entrees and she brought us a basket of what looked like some yummy, buttery biscuits along with our clam chowder. Holy CRAP....These things were awful. They tasted like they had been in a freezer for three months before being thawed and slathered in oil to make them look appetizing. They were hard as a rock! It was laughable that anyone would ever conceive of serving these pellets to paying guests. The chowder was very salty and tasted metallic. I ate part of it and left the rest. Then the entrees came. The coconut prawns were quite good, but they came with white rice and a slaw of sorts. I don't really think the sides were a good choice but oh well. My boyfriend's salmon was undercooked and he disliked his vegetables as he said they tasted frozen. Throughout our meal our robotic waitress came by many times to ask how we were doing. Every time we were fine. As in, every five minutes she checked on us. At one point during dinner I observed an older couple coming into the dining area and try to decide where to sit----they were expecting two friends to join them and wanted a particular table. After being ignored by passing employees, they finally asked a server if they could have the table. "Uhhh yeah I think....let me check cause I know we have reservations tonight..." I almost choked on my rock hard biscuit. Reservations? The ENTIRE restaurant was empty except for my boyfriend and I, and another couple. They were approached again by another server, who had the same response. "Um yeah...you can sit there.....". She then awkwardly left them to check on another table while they stood there, unsure if they could sit down. Another woman who I assume was a manager approached the couple and let them sit at the table finally, but she too looked like she hated life. Toward the end of our dinner, the boyfriend and I were cracking up over our dumb decision to visit this place again. The service is always the same...lackluster. You feel as if you are putting out the staff by being there. The prices are incredibly high for the food you get....low quality, and pre-frozen. We paid $60 for TWO ENTREES AND TWO BEVERAGES! And mediocre at that! Avoid this place! I have learned my lesson and will never come here again. This place needs a new owner and new management who know how to treat guests and don't depend on their great location to draw people in. Half Moon Bay...More like Half the quality and service for DOUBLE the price. PS. Their so-called "best bloody mary" should be called the worst instead. Order it if you like watery tomato juice mixed with vodka.

The worst mistake I ever made was planning a vacation to ripoff Westport, WA. At no time did we encounter a decently priced food item or bed to sleep in, until we went to Aberdeen. We were directed to this restaurant by our hotel's front desk (they have some kind of deal together) and I noticed upon walking up to the building that a table full of jerks were staring at my party of 8 with "Westport faces," that is to say completely unfriendly looks. I entered the building to be greeted by one of the rudest waitresses I've ever encountered, but again the entire town seemed to be full of these strange, unsmiling types (you aint from 'round these parts, are ya?), so maybe she was just "normal." Anyway, Ms. Normal wasn't too happy that we were after a light affair and even commented "just french fries, got it" it a snide tone. Well, excuse me, Ms. Thing, but what you had on your hands was mostly a group of vegans and there wasn't one thing on the menu a vegan could eat but 'rings and fries. So, our fries, 'rings, bowl of chowder and handful of drinks rang up at $85. Yes, $85 freaking dollars for SMALL/ TINY portions of fries and 'rings. The one alcoholic beverage we ordered was $10. I guess I'm just not used to paying such exorbitant fees for fries and soda, save for a bowl of chowder and a rum beverage. The service was terrible. From the mocking glances of the a-holes at the table on the way in to the stern face of the unfriendly, impatient waitress I think it's safe to say that I'll never be back.

Ate here twice while staying at the Islander Motel (not recommended). The restaurant was the best part of the "resort" (which is what they call the Islander/Half Moon Bay combo). The staff was very friendly and easygoing. Since we were there after Labor Day, the patio was almost always empty, so I enjoyed sitting there reading while having a glass of wine. I never felt like I had to guzzle my drink and leave. It was very relaxing. Again, this might not be the case when the place is busier. The interior of the restaurant is very nice, especially considering the condition of the attached motel (shabby). We had dinner there twice, and I enjoyed the seafood louis so much, I had it both times. It was simple but delicious. Interesting addition of craisins and almond slices. The first night, the server punched the wrong button on the computer and accidentally ordered the seafood trio instead of the salmon for my husband. He kept it and said it was great. I did have one of his scallops and would agree. Perfectly cooked. The second night my husband had the Korean fried chicken. It was very well cooked, but although it was tasty, the sauce was very mild (advertised on the menu as spicy). Not really Korean tasting. Good onion rings on the bar menu. See Meghan's comment about it being hot in the restaurant. Strangely, not a single shop or restaurant (or The Islander Motel) has air conditioning. This was the main reason I did NO shopping while I was there - it was just too uncomfortable and stuffy. I was actually sweating while eating at the One Eyed Crab.

Came in for happy hour. 8 people. They insisted we sit in the dining room even tho beers and apps were the only thing we wanted. Beer was cold but did not come quick. Everything else took forever (45 mins for a bunch of fried food) and then it was not good (actually fish tacos on the bar menu are solid). Overall.... Steer clear most likely you will be waiting longer for your food than your whole experience should last.

We recently(august) stayed at a friend's vacation condo in Westport, Wa for our anniversary. With the condo came a gift certificate for Half Moon Bay. We figured it would be worth trying out. We strolled in to the restaurant around 5pm on a Saturday evening to find out that most of the place had been reserved. They said to expect a 15-20 minute wait. 5 minutes later we were sitting in a comfy booth. I have read a few reviews stating that the staff was slow to wait on them. A waitress was at our table within a couple minutes of us sitting down. My wife got the Chicken Parm(which I no longer see on their menu) and said that it was delicious. She decided on it after the waitress said it was by far one of her favorite dishes. Ploy or not, she was correct about it. I had the Center Cut Rib-eye Steak & Prawns and was not let down. I'm not the biggest steak connoisseur on the planet, but I can say for a fact that they grill up one hell of a steak. The prawns were spot on delicious. I'm not the biggest veggie fan and I ate every last bite that was on my plate. I would suggest this place to anyone and I already have sent a few people there who were visiting Westport. We plan to go back next summer when we visit.

02-19-2012 The food is overpriced and unseasoned. My wife and I ordered the shrimp cocktail - at $15 I expected a little more than 3 shrimp and half an ounce of crab over lettuce in a small martini glass. I would have been better off buying 1.5 LBS of shrimp and a bottle of cocktail sauce and stayed home. I then ordered the fish tacos. The texture and quantity (3) were good, but they had NO FLAVOR. The fish, the aioli and the garnish were bland, even after adding a lot of salt - thank god they had a bottle of Ketchup on the table. My wife ordered the salmon. this was also tiny, but at least this and the fries were of decent quality and flavor. So two entrees and a appetizer cost us $50. We should have gone to costco and gotten 2 hotdogs 2 slices of pizza and 2 sodas for less than $8 it would have tasted WAY better and we wouldn't have left feeling dissapointed.

My husband and I were in Westport for a weekend getaway. We were wandering around town and decided to try this place. It was right by the marina and looked over the water. After trying to find the entrance to the restaurant since it was not right off the main road, we waited for a few minutes before a host was there to seat us in the bar. We were looking through the menu and were both surprised at the prices. Even for seafood, we felt they were a little high. I was trying to decide between the Surf Melt ($14) and the Fish and Chips ($15). I decided to go for the Surf Melt because our waitress recommended it. Well, it was extremely disappointing when I got it. It looked and smelled really good. But, it had an overpowering onion, peppers, and cheese flavor. I ate one of the melts (it came with two) and had a hard time finishing that. I couldn't taste any crab or shrimp. I began to pick through the second melt looking for a crab and shrimp. I found a handful of little bay shrimp but could not find a chunk of crab anywhere. It was very disappointing and irritating to spend $14 on a lunch that was crab and shrimp based and I couldn't find any crab. It was a ripoff and made me not want to go there ever again. My husband got the Kalua Pork & Cabbage ($10). He said it was alright. There was a lot of cabbage, almost more than the pork. He also said the rice was undercooked. It was just a disappointing experience overall and not a place we would recommend to people.

The ONLY good thing I have to say about this place is that my souvenir shot glass was decently priced. Oh wait...the cashier that took our money for the shot glass was very nice. But she was seriously misinformed about what a good Bloody Mary tastes like. The only reason we stopped here was because of the big banner they had hanging out claiming to have "The Best Bloody Mary". They even actually sell their Bloody Mary mix which I highly caution everyone against trying. I think they think if they put enough garnishments in it, that means they can claim it's the best. The garnishments were interesting, however, I'm happy with green olives and pickled green beans. The onion, tomato, pepperoni, cheese, shrimp, etc, were a little too much for me. But even if they weren't too much, the Bloody Mary itself was the worst I've ever had. It was watery, had no spicy taste whatsoever and tasted like it didn't even have alcohol in it. On top of that, it was 32 bucks for two of them. If I had known what it tasted like ahead of time, I wouldn't have even paid $1.00 for it. On top of that, the service was lousy. When we got there, we sat at the bar and probably waited about 10 minutes before the server made an appearance. Another 10 waiting for the so-called Best Bloody Mary ever after we had moved to an outside table on a very slow Sunday morning (we told her we were moving outdoors). Once we choked down the last of our drinks, we went to the bar to pay because she didn't make another appearance. We waited another 10 minutes because we wanted to break a bill to give her an undeserved tip, but finally gave up and just left her the exact amount.

We were pretty disappointed here. For a place that only had 3 other tables, it amazed me that our food took nearly 45mins to get. And they screwed up the order. I wish I had gotten up and went elsewhere. Too pricey for what you get. We had high hopes for this place, but it didn't materialize. Food in the end was okay, but nothing special. Too bad, as it has a nice location, and you can watch people fish at the docks. They also claim to have "the best Bloody Mary". As my friend pointed out, even the best Bloody Mary is just a bad Caesar. So don't let that pull you in.

Every time I think of West Port I think about our horrible experience we had at this place. The food was beyond discussing. We ordered a plate of fish tacos and it tasted like the whole bottle of cayenne pepper fell onto our tacos.. It was like pouring the pepper on your tongue that's all you could taste. DO NOT SPEND YOUR $$ HERE!!!

This is a review for the food. I have never been to the restaurant. They had a booth at the Bite of Seattle. The Mac and Jack Mussels served with bread was to die for. It was the best dish our group of 5 purchased among probably 20 different items. I will definitely be dining there if I am anywhere near Westport in the future.

Save your time and money and go somewhere else! I had such high hopes for this place; however, it is a huge disappointment. We have a cabin in Westport, so we frequent all the shops and diner places. I have held out on this one due to it looking like a cash cow to suck the wallets of tourist. We finally gave in after years of avoiding it. I hate when I do not trust me instincts. The place is very nice and comfortable, we were seated.... and that's about it. My wife and one year old just sat there. I see the other reviews stating that they waited 15 minutes for any other acknowledgment, even for water. Well, consider yourselves lucky, as we waited for over 30 minutes for water or acknowledgment. Just as I was getting up to get someone to help us a waitress came to our table. She apologized for the wait stating that she didn't know someone was in our section. Here is the problem I have with that; why are they not communicating when they put someone in a section, also, her excuse doesn't fly, she had made eye contact with us while we sat there and even smiled at our son. So I do not buy that she did not know we were there. This is probably an excuse they are trained to use, blame someone else. As a side note, they were not even busy! So, we order our food and I had to order their world famous Bloody Mary. Our food and drinks came out promptly. My Bloody Mary tasted like it came out of a ghetto tavern, I do not know who gave them any award for it, but that person must not have any taste buds. The only forgiving part of the drink was the garnish of pepperoni and cheese. I ordered the captains platter, I figured a little bit of each from the sea would be a good thing to get a highly esteemed seafood joint on the ocean! When I tasted each piece on my plate I have to admit, it took me back to some old memories, the memories of when I would go to Skippers! Seriously, $25 for unseasoned, overly greasy food? I was so let down. My wife got the salmon salad with goat cheese. My son loves salmon, the kid seriously eats 1/2 pound of smoked salmon easily. The salmon was horrendous; I have had canned tuna with more moisture than this salmon. We cut some up for my son and as fast as it went in his mouth it came out. Yes, maybe my son has my pallet, but I believe that is a good thing. The salmon was so bad we were going to send it back but we were too afraid of a long wait and just wanted to be out of there. Another side note; we never got our water refilled until they brought us our check. Here is my issue, this place is located in Westport, and it couldn't be any closer to the water than it is. They have outrageous prices indicating that they may be worth it. This place shames Westport's down to earth atmosphere. I have had meals better at Skippers or Ivars. Do yourself a favor and save your money and go to one of the more local spots.

We have had good luck lately at the Half Moon Bay bar on the weekends between 3-6 pm, enjoying happy hour prices on the fish tacos and Pipeline porter. The bar service has been friendly, the fish tacos are yummy and when the Seahawks are winning the porter keeps pouring.

Had lunch here on Monday 6/18/12. Do NOT let the front entrance fool you, inside the restaurant was just beautiful. Front entrance looks like a gas station, inside it is a BEAUTIFUL restaurant with a great view of the marina. My husband and I drove thru this very small town a couple times deciding where to eat. We drove past this place at first, but decided to check it out on the 2nd pass because we didnt' see any place else that had a lounge in town. I had the crabcakes and a salad, everything was very fresh and tasty. Husband had the lumpia and chowder. He really enjoyed his food. The service was EXCELLENT, and we are picky when it comes to service. Service and atmosphere alone would have gotten 5 stars. But, there was a little too much breading in my crabcakes, and the lumpia were very skinny, not a whole lot of meat in there. Everything was very flavorful though. And the little dinner salad was unique, I really enjoyed that. Chowder was one of the BEST for sure. If we ever get to Westport again, we will eat for sure !!

Best dinner out that my husband I have had in a long time. He ordered the special which was the surf and turf with scallops and shrimp. The steak was cooked perfectly! I had the salmon with the crab sauce...to die for! Clam chowder wasn't the best, but wasn't terrible. Very friendly staff and awesome surfer atmosphere! Yummo

They're very proud of their "award-winning dungeness crab cake," so with high expections I waited in line for a table. I have to say, for a place next to the ocean, the crab didn't have much of that familiar fresh-caught "crabby" flavor. Maybe they used too much seasoning. It wasn't bad, but it didn't blow me out of the water either. The décor is fancy, the waiters look sharp, and the view of the marina is pretty. They serve a variety of alcohol and keep the lights dim enough to make your date look dreamy. It's a nice spot for a romantic dinner. Actually, it's the only spot for a romantic dinner in Westport.

Came here with our small group the other day. Talk about overpriced, mediocre fare...Every town has that one *place* that seems to present itself as a high caliber dining experience.. and in Westport, this one seems to be that place. Service was decent, but the menu prices are grossly overpriced considering the mediocre food and meager portions. $15 for a ho-hum Asian salad with a tiny piece of fish laying across the top is hardly a value. Wish we'd seen these reviews first. The fish n' chip shack down the street might have been a better choice. Won't be back.

So after seeing all of the ads showing the "world's best bloody mary", I had to have one. We read the poor reviews so decided not to eat here during our stay but I couldn't get the delicious looking bloody mary out of my head. On the last day of our stay, on our way out of town... I dragged my grumpy husband and child in here to have my bloody mary. They had just opened at 11am and we were the only people in the restaurant. It's actually pretty cute inside and the view was nice. The waitress was visibly disappointed when we ordered one bloody mary (I apologized). I have to say, it was a darn good bloody mary and it was fun with the pepperoni, cheese, tomato, shrimp, olive, green bean, celery, onion etc. Was it worth $12? Probably not. Am I happy I tried it? Yes.

This was one of the best seafood dinners I've had in a long time. I had the Seafood Trio--salmon, scallops, and shrimp, in a lemon beurre blanc sauce w/capers and it was divine. The clam chowder was tasty too. Best bloody mary ever, hands down! But very spicy. You should see the garnish it comes with: green beans, celery, onion, tomato, pepperoni, cheese, olive, shrimp, and probably 2 or 3 other things I'm forgetting. It was delicious. Nice singer in the lounge too, and Judy the waiter was just wonderful. The atmosphere is cozy yet it was casual enough for our 8-month-old to join. My date had the whole crab and it came cleaned and holding two lemon wedges in its claws. You don't get fresher seafood than this. (Note: there is no listing for the attached hotel, which is a dump. Save yourself and only come here for dinner.)

Me and my 2 year old daughter went on a Hawaiian night and it was very comfortable. They had a Hawaiian musician playing for all to hear but it wasn't blaring loud. Just right for the atmosphere. It was surprising because the last time I was there, it was dark and enclosed with a bunch of loud, drunk people. The place is totally remodeled and bright and the wait staff were very polite. Very nice. At first they were going to seat us in a booth but I wanted to be closer to the water and they obliged. I had never tried Hawaiian food before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I am so hooked on the pork and chicken dishes and the rice dish and pasta dish that I can't wait for the next time they do that. So flavorful and unique. Great experience for us. Not many places in the area understand the restaurant industry. They seemed to.

As far as I could tell/find, this is the nicest place in town to eat out, and it's where everybody and their mother was the Friday night that I went. It has an ok view of the harbor, really nice service, and an ok menu selection. I would say it's bar and grill calibre. Somehow, they have the fanciest bathroom I have ever seen in a bar and grill, with what appeared to be granit tiles or something (shrug). This seems to be the place to go if you want to check out the rest of the Westport population, and I'm pretty sure they have live music somewhat regularly. So if you're looking to check out your fellow residents, go there. If you are still hungry later, or want money to accidentally leak out of your pocket thanks to your kid's requests, there's taffy and other touristy stuff to buy in the shop you have to walk through before you get to the restaurant entrance.

Don't judge a book from its cover! The exterior of the restaurant may look dated, as does most of this little charming fishing town of Westport, the inside of the restaurant was warm (the decor) and inviting. My sister and I sampled several appetizers with our party of nine (3 in our party were 4 and under). Out of the calamari, crab cakes, sesame crusted ahi, and bacon wrapped scallops, the Sesame Crusted Ahi was my favorite! I also liked that the calamari was tossed with some bell peppers and onions. I ordered the Seafood Trio for my entree, and my sister ordered the prime rib. I was quite full from the many appetizers and the delicious chowder, but I did taste everything on my plate. The scallops, prawns, and salmon were cooked perfectly. The crab cream sauce on the salmon was delicious. I brought my leftover dinner home because I just had to try their dessert...my brother finished it off and loved it! I have to say, as a chocolate lover, the death by chocolate dessert was incredible! My only suggestion is that the thermostat on the air conditioning be turned down, as it was cold outside and we did get a little chilly sitting there...although, that may just be my opinion since I am from the warmer climate in Hawaii. I will come back again when on vacation, and bring my husband who I know will love that Bloody Mary!

Had lunch with 3 friends on Sat 7-30-11. I ordered the fish taco's and was so disappointed! I had less than 1/2 cup fish in all three taco's, the corn tortilla's were so chewy I ate less than one--coleslaw terrible! But my friends had good meals, waitstaff service was fine, nice view and restrooms were very clean. We all had your Bloody marys and they were a treat. This is the first time I have ever written a review so if I do come back, please fix your taco's!!!! Judy from Graham Wa

Good burger and chicken club. The drinks and service were great. We went here two nights in a row and ordered the bar food. Both times were worth it, especially during happy hour.

First of all -- they advertise "the best Bloody Mary?" I guess if you call the most stuff stuck on a skewer good, this drink is for you. They even had a processed cheese cube stuck on the thing. Yuck. The restaurant is almost part of the bar, so if a Mariners game is on, give it up. The food is typical coastal deep-fried fare. We had crab cakes that were pretty sad, and a cioppino that tasted like Costco cioppino sauce from the jar with a ton of shrimp thrown in. I must say the service was good and the waitress was friendly. On the parking lot side of the restaurant, they actually have another restaurant recommended by our resort: Anthony's (not to be confused with the west coast chain). Supposedly, it serves Mediterranean cuisine. It looked like they carved out ten tables from the bar/restaurant to try and get more customers. I thought it was odd since both obviously use the same kitchen and chef -- in fact they both had the same awful cioppino on the menu. There's not a lot to choose from in Westport, so if you do go here I would probably order a burger.

I thought the Yelpers who indicated slow/poor service at this place had experienced bad days. Not so! We must have waited 15 minutes just to be asked what we wanted to drink, another 20 minutes to order and 35 to receive food. The food is adequate but the lack of customer service is just unacceptable. Please listen...DO NOT waste your time at Half Moon Bay Bar and Grill unless you are not in a hurry or possess more patience than I.

This place has gone downhill since the Golf Course developer who bought it from Neddie Rose lost it. The environmentalists from Seattle and places elsewhere have not only destroyed the ownership of this establishment but many others in this town. Several years ago Half moon was the place to be with Josh as manager and Mark in the kitchen. It is too bad that outside influences destroyed this place and this town over the years.

Over priced but if you have to eat here get the fish and chips. Avoid the fish tacos at all costs.

We loved the food here. I had the Blackened Salmon Ciabatta, my wife had the Grilled Chicken Ciabatta and both were awesome. Service was good, preparation time felt too long given the place was almost empty.

Our visit to Half Moon Bay Bar and Grill was at the beginning of salmon season and the restaurant was nearly full. The view of the harbor is great, especially if you like boats. Our waitperson was "Lolly, as in pop" and we enjoyed both the banter and the recommendations from her. We chose the cioppino and the seafood alfredo and both were satisfactory. My friend liked the cioppino although he did have a gaseous evening afterward. He'll have to write his own review on that topic. The alfredo was delicious and the seafood fresh except for the salmon, but then I usually only eat salmon I catch myself so I'm usually disappointed. The wine list was a bit eccentric with unknown vintners along with blindingly expensive prestige names. However, they did have a Meritage that was delicious. I've just forgotten the name of the vintner. Our orders for the seafood alfredo were confused with the seafood combo. When our dinner arrived, our perplexed look caused the manager to ask if we were not pleased. When told we ordered the alfredo, he picked up the plates and said "I just wanted you to see these!"...We now have a humorous story of this restaurant and will go back.

Home of the best Bloody Mary ever-- so tasty and spicy. The service was great; the wait staff was extremely attentive and friendly. It was nice and relaxing to look out at the marina and the ocean view. My food was great and at a reasonable price.

You'll notice the good reviews for this place are all in the 2007 time frame. I would have given them a 4 star review through mid 2009, but sadly things at the Half Moon Bay have taken a turn for the worse. The decor is still fun and inviting, the restaurant is clean and bright. That is about all the positive things I can say however. Ever since the old owner got foreclosed on and the restaurant went back to the debt holders, the service and most importantly the food have suffered immensely. I last went to the HMB with my wife and friend. After waiting 15min for a glass of water, and another 15 min for the drink that I ordered our scattered waitress took our order. After an additional 30 min wait for our food, all with no return visit by the server, our food arrived. My wife's fish and chips were cold and greasy, her fries were limp. My fish taco tasted like it was defrosted and poached in salt water then covered in some red mayo sauce (last time I had them they were excellent). Our friends salad was brown lettuce drowning in sauce. All of this, plus the server didn't ask if we wanted another drink or refill out water. I will not be back, pisses me off that I even recommend the place.

Erik and I dined here on Friday night after a long, tedious battle with traffic, coming down to Westport the night before we went fishing. We checked into our room down the road and walked down to the main drag. We checked the menus of some other options and ultimately decided on the Half Moon Bay Bar and Grill, mainly based off of Brook M's excellent Westport lists. When we approached the entrance to the restaurant, we were kindly greeted by the host who asked us if we would like to dine at Anthony's or the Bar and Grill and then showed us each menu. Obviously, we chose the Half Moon Bay Bar and Grill. We were seated immediately and right away were greeted by our waiter, Cedar. He welcomed us and gave us the nightly specials, which sounded divine. He then asked us what we would like to drink. The back of the one page menu has a long list of wines to choose from, but Erik and I really just wanted some beer. He advised us of what was on draft and I ordered a Newcastle and Erik had a Mac and Jack's. Cedar then left to let us make our dinner decision. When he returned, I ordered the steak and prawns ($30) and Erik ordered one of the nightly specials, wild Alaskan halibut with prawns ($28). Each meal came with soup or salad. I had an onion beer soup (similar to French onion) and Erik ordered the clam chowder. Shortly after we ordered we were brought an order of warm, delicious bread - perfect for dipping in my soup. My soup was good, but a little bland. I'm not sure what it was missing, but it wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped. Erik's clam chowder was perfect and made me wish I had ordered that instead. Our dinner arrived shortly after we finished our soup. On the menu, my entree is served with mashed potatoes, but I substituted that with the rice pilaf that was part of Erik's meal and on many of the other entrees on the menu. I'm so glad I did. The rice was very good, cooked and seasoned perfectly and I personally think rice goes better with the prawns in my meal than mashed potatoes would. My steak was just right. One of my pet peeves is when I order a steak and ask for it medium rare and it comes out medium, or worse, done. This steak was perfect, very tender and very tasty. Had it not been for the 5 large prawns included in my meal, I may have finished my steak. The prawns were prepared in a garlic butter sauce and were delicious. Erik gave me a couple bites of his halibut and it was also very good. When we had first sat down, we were a bit surprised at the prices and the seemingly small menu. At first glance, the menu offerings of the Half Moon Bay Bar and Grill may appear to be too little for too much. I am very happy that despite that initial thought, we gave this place a try because we both left very satisfied and very full.

I've been here many times since my first review, and I've grown to love the Bloody Mary's and the legendary fish tank drink. Happy hour specials are a bargain, and dinner food is tasty, too. Plus the setiing is beautiful on the water. I'll drive two hours from Tacoma just for the Bloody Mary and crispy fries!

Nice looking place... ...but... ...I'm pretty sure that I could have burst into flames and the bartender wouldn't have noticed.

We had travel all day, and ended up watching a sunset in this area. Since we are all hungry, we had limited choices. Seems like this whole town closes super early! The service here.... well its slow. Very slow.... but our waitress is nice so I give her a bit of credit. Food wise... fast food taste better! We ordered the crispy oysters. Which was okay. Also had the bacon scallop which was okay as well. Heres where the food goes really wrong. I ordered the seafood alfredo, came with three prawns and shreded salmon, but seriously there was barely in there. The cost of it was $26. It wasnt cheap for super disappointed food. Plus the noodles were all stil stuck together. It was just hard to eat!! I will never come back here. It was only because we really needed some food for the drive back.

Just go to the bar for a beer or drink--- just one. That's long enough to enjoy the view. I wanted to like it but--- If I was rating food and service, I would give it only one star.

Loose seal! Arrested development fans rejoice as you will be able to see a harbor seal (that I aptly named Lucille) frolicking about while you enjoy a nice Westport brewery cream ale. This was the best restaurant in Westport with friendly quick service (thanks Kendall!!) and a delicious shrimp louis that's made with craisins, almonds, fresh Dungeness crab and bay shrimp and dressed with their house made louis sauce. Their clam chowder was tastier than Bennett and it was thoroughly enjoyed. But in order to be a good yelper and to provide the restaurant with constructive feedback, i will say this to them: Lower your prices by $2. or 15%. Most of the complaints and my complaint was that the food was overpriced. It is. Great food, great service, but i don't think it was worth the $60 price tag. $48, yes. $60, no. This makes it it difficult to justify coming back. Yes, i know that you're trying to capitalize on people who are visiting, but price gouging isn't the way to do it. By lowering your price by even $2 you'll have more repeat customers. I don't know what sort of overhead you have, but you need to try to negotiate it down because there's so much potential for this restaurant, but it's a pity that your prices are so high. So i'll give you four stars, but it'll be mostly just for beer and appetizers.

The food was pretty good this time. Yes, I keep coming back and give them yet another chance. Our waitress was very friendly and seemed to be trying and so the I say the service was good It seems to be one of the few restaurants to choose from. A lot of restaurants seem to close for the winter or went out of business. So I am giving them some slack. Give them a try

From the outside this place looks a little dumpy but inside it is full of comfy booths and tables over looking the marina. The service wasn't overly warm but efficient. I ordered a Caesar with salmon - salmon was delicious but the Caesar had no flavor and the croutons a bit hard. My daughter had chowder that tasted okay but obviously had mostly flour as its base instead of cream and the pieces of clams were pretty minuscule. Wasn't overly impressed but overall a decent dining experience. Don't order the $16 fish bowl drink - it doesn't taste all that great and isn't very strong for a $16 drink.
