Really not a fan. Maybe we went on an off day, but the sushi was not very good and the selection wasn't great. I was disappointed because we went entirely based on the reviews here and it isn't very convenient for us. Sushi Hana on Mill Plain is more convenient when we went a quick sushi place and based on our one visit to sushi tsunami, Sushi Hana is much better at a lower price. Doubt we'll be back.

I went here for the first time Sunday night, it was so good my husband and I went back Monday! The Philly crunch roll is amazing, my favorite hands down. Shrimp tempura, Vegas roll and of course the California rolls are delicious too. also the Korean beef is tender and very tasty. The place is super clean, there is no smell like previous reviewers have complained about...not sure what they're talking about. I highly recommend this place.

Good as far as conveyor belt sushi goes. Its pretty busy all the time, and takes a while to get a specific roll. Servers were attentive. I think a bit overpriced for the quality.

Best conveyor belt sushi in Vancouver, bar none! I have been to most of the conveyor belt locals in Vancouver and have hit a few in Portland as well. If you like Sushi Hanna, then don't come here...you'll never go back to Sushi Hanna again. Sushi Tsunami is a regular stop for me for lunch about once per week. And as Q.T. stated in their review, the portions of fish are large enough to cover the rice. If you go for lunch plan on arriving just before noon or close to 1 o'-clock, if you arrive during the noon hour you may be waiting. It is well worth the wait, but be warned if you are on a time crunch. Personally, I believe the food to be fresher and served in larger portions than the other places around Vancouver...there is a reason those other places have $1 lunches...yuck! They have adjusted their prices, however I have not seen anything on the belt over $3.50. The one time I saw them pull out a higher priced plate was when I ordered a double order of Unagi and they put it all on one plate. Large portions of Unagi, too. As far as pulling sushi out of the freezer, it is recommended by the FDA that all fish served raw be frozen for various lengths of time depending on how cold the freezer is to destroy parasites...that almost every fish have. While soda isn't the traditional drink of choice with sushi, they serve it up in large glasses with free refills. Be sure to read the menu and ask for something if you don't see it. They have several items that don't appear on the belt and aren't on the menu, but are normal fare you would expect to find in an establishment such as this. I have to watch it here, because I can easily stuff myself and I don't like to do that. When I do, I'm just at about $20. It is kind of hard to spot, but it is across from Fred Meyer and next to a tire shop...just South of Burger King (yuck!).

I stumbled on this place entirely by accident; I just recently upgraded the OS on my phone, and hadn't yet restored yelp on it. So here I am in Vancouver, taking care of a couple of errands, starting to get hungry, and with no yelp to guide my path. I happened to look across the street from the Fred Meyer's, and decided to take my chances. I ordered the bulgogi that was on special, and pulled a dragon roll off the conveyor while I waited for it. Both were delicious, and the staff was courteous. The only item that I found lacking was the pickled ginger: it tasted slightly flat. It certainly wasn't a deal breaker, though. I suppose I'm being AR to dock a star for the ginger, but there it is. I will certainly eat here again, and I would recommend it to others.

Pretty good fast food sushi. Colored plates indicating the price circle around bar seating on a little conveyor belt. Quick and painless lunch. Not the best sashimi, but very good for quick lunch. Clean facility.

This used to be a good place. I hadn't been in for a while and noticed the prices had increased and the selection on the belt was very limited. There used to be a variety on the belt. I rarely ordered anything. Now they have only a few things in groups with signs. I pulled a couple of items and they were room temp. I wondered how long they had been out. I ordered an ice tea and they changed it to a fruity variety. Didn't say on the menu it was mango tea. Not good. I was quite disappointed with the overall experience. I don't think I'll go back. l

Sushi here is great. Kinda pricey, but the service stinks. We were waiting to pay while this server just kept passing us by but she had time to help. She stood in the corner staring at us, maybe waiting for someone else to check us out, and finally decided to go to the register.

I'm a newbie to sushi for sure, but I sure as Hell love this place! The service is always top-notch,and everyone is friendly and attentive. Some of the other yelpers are whiny about the imitation crab meat they use.Real dungeoness crabmeat goes for near $30 PER POUND....Basically,you get what you pay for.Their miso soup is hot and yummy, and all the food is fresh. If theres something you like that you don't see, they will happily make it for you.I've actually brought in fresh spring salmon, and crab that I've caught.Of course I always bring in extra to give to them. They are always appreciative, and have come up with some delicious concoctions!

I went here with my friend and her two daughters. We ordered 4 plates and then the youngest had to go to the bathroom. We took both of the young girls and when we came back the food was being dumped into a bin by a server. We told the server we just went to the restroom and were not done and asked for a replacement of what she had thrown away. She told us she would bring the same food, but we would be charged twice. Our original food was not even half eaten. My friend disputed this with the server and eventually the cook became involved. He said he would take care of it and make new food and we would only have to pay for the new food. The server and him began arguing loudly and both my friend and I were extremely embarrassed. Eventually the fighting ceased and we got new food and only paid for the new food. However, it was a crazy ordeal and I would not go there again. The sushi was good though.

Best sushi go round in town. Always fresh and prices are good too.

  • Kevin K.

This place uses the conveyor belt to transport the various dishes of sushi. Recently, they jacked the prices up to $2.00-$6.00, so it's no longer one of the cheaper places to get sushi in town. The sushi is good and you can order other dishes like teriyaki chicken or even have a bento box with tempura. They do allow phone-in take out, which is really nice.

    (3)
  • Cy K.

The only place around here I've found that offers seared salmon. Fish portions were a little small, but the quality was good. Other nigiri variations come coated with a pepper rub which is very good. Only downside was the price - about $20 by the time I got out of there - a little high for what is offered. However, service was very good both from the chef and wait staff.

Even though I am a big sushi lover, I haven't been to every place in Vancouver/Portland. However, so far when I do try a different sushi belt place, none compare to the Tsunami!! Their portion sizes, prices and variety always win in my book. I could eat here every day!

  • Eric S.

Very surprised with it's current rating. Went there for lunch with some colleagues and tried a bit of everything. To be honest, their cheaper cream cheese-infused selection and the mushroom bomb are the only things worth ordering. Everything else was disappointing for the price, and the fish was not fresh at all. At one point, I was almost certain that I was chewing on turkey jerky and not sushi....just, too rubbery!

    (1)
  • Megan D.

This sushi spins my head right round baby, right round. I love the spider roll and the Mushroom Bomb! It is nice to see desserts spinning by though I rarely take one. The service is usually quite attentive. Prices are great.

I came into Sushi Tsunami on a whim - I wanted sushi, I wanted it to be a sushi boat place (or conveyer belt, as it happened to be), I didn't want it to be Sushiland in east Vancouver (never again!), and I didn't want to drive into Portland to get it. Sushi Tsunami fit the bill. We came in with only an hour to close, so I adjusted my expectations to reflect the late arrival. With the exception of some very dry-looking teriyaki skewers, everything in rotation looked fresh and delicious. My lacto-ovo-intolerant husband generally has a hard time finding rolls he can eat, and was pleased to discover several different rolls without either allergen. I ate the most delicious jalapeno tempura-battered thingies stuffed with crab meat, only to find out after the fact that they're supposed to also be stuffed with cream cheese. As I don't consume dairy, I usually find it pretty easy to spot in flavours, and was shocked it had managed to get past me. Luckily, the chef must have forgotten the cream cheese, because I had no problems later on. Service was distracted and didn't really check in with us, nor did the chefs go out of their way to acknowledge customers, though they did quickly and pleasantly respond when deliberately flagged down for special orders. At the end, there was a crowd of people standing around waiting for their bills, as none of the several waitresses bothered to check in with anyone or count their plates. Still, showing up during the closing process is never the best way to get A+ service, so I'll give them 3 stars and commit to going back in the future - preferably a ways before closing!

I've been looking for a good sushi place for a long time. I'm somewhat of a novice, but I have still been mostly disappointed with most "conveyor belt" places. One of my friends recommended this place and I finally went for my birthday. While my wife waited in the car I ordered $30 worth of everything I was craving. I took it home and had my fill with a nice cold bottle of Momokawa Pearl and was more impressed with every bite! Nothing mushy, all super fresh and a grand bit of presentation made it a great choice. I loved it. The only reason it didn't get five stars is that I found it a tiny bit spendy. You will have a great experience if you go here!

  • Ilea D.

BEST sushi-go-round in Vancouver! My tummy is always happy after I get though licking all my plates clean. The only thing I could think of a a "negative" is that the refill service on my drinks is usually slow to non-existant. But I kinda like not being botherd during a meal. So they still get 5 stars!

Sushi-Go-Round? I am from up north where I frequently dined at the best of the best little tiny sushi joints. My friend, Rob, was a sushi snob so when I started eating sushi, I learned to love it, eating only the best. I still enjoy going to those places but the prices are a lot different so I love Tsunami, it's really good, fresh sushi that is reasonable so I can go a couple times a week instead of once a week or so. Juan (yes my favorite sushi chef there is named Juan) makes some amazing rolls for me. He just made a couple new rolls that they are putting on the menu. The Vancouver Roll rocks! It's made with soy paper so while it is odd to eat a sushi roll that is wrapped in pink instead of nori green, its so delicious. Has good what I call "mouth feel." Whenever we try a new roll we pop the whole thing in our mouth and declare if it is a "good bite" and most rolls here are for sure. 4 star sushi gets a 5 star because it's so economical and we all have to watch our pennies these days.

    (5)
  • Traci S.

We have been going here since they opened a few years ago and have always had consistently good sushi for a good price. The salmon is always so fresh and the service is great. We Tsunami!

  • Twylla C.

Sushi Tsunami is a great little sushi-go-round place in Hazel Dell. For someone who goes up and down I-5 a lot, it is easy to get on and off the freeway, as quick as any fast food place, inexpensive as sushi goes and pretty good sushi, too. I haven't picked up a take out order there, but have seen people drop in and put a to-go order together right off the conveyor belt. Service is attentive and the sushi chefs are happy to make anything that you don't see fresh for you. My one complaint is that they don't have as much traditional sushi as I'd like--although I think most people prefer the type of rolls that they serve.

    (5)
  • Char P.

Really good sushi, affordable and comfortable. I haven't eaten at many other sushi places in town but every time I eat here I hear someone saying how much better this sushi is.

  • Arvonn T.

This is probably the best conveyor belt sushi in Vancouver. Most of the customers are regulars, and at the risk of sounding racist - most of the staff is NOT mexican(japanese/korean/asian?) as opposed to mexican's working at the other conveyor belt sushi places. Rather odd.. My wife and I eat their once a week. You have to get their before 6:30, that's when it gets crowded. Not much point in showing up after about 7:30 pm. They are open until 9, but after that point, you pretty much have to order stuff, the belt choices get pretty slim. It's conveyor belt sushi, it is what it is, but it is the best conveyor belt sushi in all of Vancouver!

    (5)
  • Joe S.

The only way this place could only have claimed best sushi in Vancouver would be based on the fact that there are practically no sushi place in the couve. The rolls were small for the price and excessively mayonnaisey(it's a word. I swear) The fish was only so-so.

By far the best sushi train I have found. Super clean, very reasonable prices, and just plain yummy. I go out of my way to eat here. Love the spider roll and the creamy scallops.

My husband and I just had dinner there last night. Wow, it was fantastic! The servers were friendly and quick, the food was especially fresh, and we felt like we were treated like royalty. Loved the tuna, shrimp tempura and sweet potato!

We dropped in for lunch on a Labor Day weekend. For Vancouver WA, this is a good place for conveyor belt sushi. The fish pieces are big enough to drape around the rice. The varieties from the belt are surprisingly decent for a conveyor type place to satisfy a stranded sushi lover craving for a quick bite, to the sushi timid and first timers. Selections are heavy on the rolls, but there are seared albacore, red snapper and yellowtail, to chirashi and udon as well. We ordered a sashimi boat, and even ordered just pure fish roes for the kids, not bad. Also called a couple orders of tempura udon, and suprised that the tempura was priced separately from the udon bowls. I tried to strike a conversation with the chef but he didn't seem to understand Japanese so I guess he's not. So as Lily pointed out, he must be Korean. I ordered a sweet shrimp $6 special plate, and immediately realized my mistake when I saw them having to pull it out from the freezer. Oh well, it took about 15 minutes to get it done, fried shrimp head and all. It's bad. The unagi roll was good though.

This is a killer sushi train restaurant! Everything one who appreciates a sushi restaurant that specializes in the belt form of delivery. The price was right on. Yes you have to make sure you're aware there are plenty of colors of plates but everything is in full view so you can tell what you're working with. Sushi trains aren't really a "sharing" atmosphere, so I'm not sure why people are so pressed about the 3 per plate instead of whatever other number they deem more acceptable. Sushi rolls tend to be made into 6 pieces, so you're essentially getting half a roll in that aspect. It's still a nice deal. It's so well organized. I was excited to see the way the conveyer belt was set up. They actually have cards that will tell you what the roll you're grabbing is. There's much more variety and a bit fresher than most other places that try to pull the train off. It's nice not to be stuck with just Cali rolls with random amounts of spicy mayo squirted on. We came on a slow day without anyone else around, the service was attentive and swift. They would check on us just enough, we weren't forgotten but weren't being pushed along. My brother and I make a habit of finding sushi trains whenever we want to go out, this has reached a high spot on our list, I'm so glad we tried it out.

Best sushi we have had in a long time! Very fresh with a lot of variety. The Vancouver roll was fun and different, very yummy! Requested of the menu for a few things- came up very quick. Customer service was outstanding!!!! I 100% recommend:)

Very rude and lazy woman. Very nasty toward my child who's only 1 yo. My child was well behaved, and she yelled at us because there was some rice on the floor, I've seen worse.... Sushi is old and food is cold bad experience never coming back

The prices have increased and now they only serve 3 rolls to a plate. Quality just OK. Wait staff very friendly but no longer a good value.

Have to update my review. This afternoon The Wife and I decided to try our favorite conveyor sushi in Vancouver. We walked in and noticed that no one looked familiar except maybe one sushi chef. The conveyor was organized with didn't rolls grouped together with a little sign. We took two seats at the conveyor and started into some California rolls as a warm up. As we plowed through a few plates we were starting to look at each other, something wasn't quite right. We love good conveyor sushi and usually this place is our top pick, it's just usually fresher and bigger than other places, but today, and recently, some of plates that used to have four rolls have three now, the rainbow rolls didn't look as vibrant in color. The taste was just flat, not bad, but different, it wasn't up to the usual Sushi Tsunami standards, and hasn't been the last few times. I have a feeling they have changed hands. It was a Tsunami of mediocrity. Plus side was the service was still good and the amount of rolls on the conveyor was plentiful. Handicapped parking was great and the servers offered to let us sit where ever we wanted so I would be comfortable. Props for that. I hope that someone from here reads this and tries to get the standards and quality back to where it was before, because this place was head and shoulders above the rest, now it's about the same.

Had lunch at sushi tsunami, food was good and the staff was very helpful and fast! A couple of our great technicians showed up so I treated them to sushi, we appreciate all their hard work! Will have to come back on a fri or sat for some sea urchin!

This might be a 3.5 really but a 3 will do for now. I have been here 3 times now and always leave fairly happy for not too much money. Its one of those sushi-go-round places where the small plates pass you bye. If you have rotator cuff issues, be sure you sit facing the right direction so you don't have to keep whipping your head around. Lots of basic sushi for to $2-3. The stuffed mushrooms were delish. The last time seemed to offer fewer options than previously. The house tea was dreadful and barely hot and they're not generous with the water. But all in all, I like this place. Not too small or big, usually a booth open to sit. Lots of menu items may be ordered separately. Usually parking spots open in the small lot but dang if I can ever see the place from the street.

Driving back to Seattle, mistook this place for another conveyor place I've been to farther up the road. Big mistake. Right when you walk in there is this faint rotten stench. Very bland, stark, cold atmosphere like a cheap diner. Service was friendly and attentive though. Belt was of course filled with all the 'FuFu' rolls - that is the rolls dressed up to look fancy on the most expensive plates but with less actual fish in them than you get in the Nigiri sushi. Value here is poor compared to most other conveyor places -- only three roll pieces for plate. Cuts of fish on the Nigiri sushi were extremely stingy, very small and thin with too much rice. Rice poorly seasoned, almost tasted not seasoned at all. Quality of fish was mediocre but this is to be expected at most conveyor places. Take the next exit up the road, two right turns and a much better place will be on your left. Most recent reviews on this place are poor reflecting a steep downward trend - change of management?

Green tea from a tea bag, not so happy with teabags. Squid salad is good. Big clean new space. Too big of a space for the chef, not enough customer space. Sitting space ok but leg room a little cramped but has good chairs. Tried two 5 dollar rolls and both were worth the money. It's in the texture, taste, and presentation that makes it worth the bucks. The rest of the sushi was good but nothing to write Yoki about. It's a new place, nice with good food but a sushi track. We'll keep this on my list when I'm in the area.

The first time we went it was awesome! Absolutely fell in love with the place and the idea of the sushi bar. Then we came again and everything began to spiral downward. 1.) The service is terrible. I mean I get it you don't want to serve us but if I pay almost 2 bucks for a soda I want more than 1. It's your job! Don't act like your so inconvenienced by me. 2.) Unless you order off the menu(which is difficult again because the service is terrible) it's always the same stuff!! I get tired of california rolls i mean come on! 3.) There is NO happy hour :( Most places at least have a happy hour where it's $1.50-$2 plates but not this place..your always paying the same and it's overpriced. I will say 1 thing...the avocado boat is amazing :) Deep fried avocado? Yes please!

  • Ophelia Y.

I was expecting this place to be the best sushi joint in Vancouver. Well, that may be true, but it's nothing compared to what you can find in Portland. The good news is that it's decently cheap, and is worth the price.

Half star. We wanted to try sushi closer to home and decided to give Sushi Tsunami a try. The calamari was decent but everything else was horrible and tasteless. Honestly, I have had better sushi at asian buffets. Even the fake crab was of poor quality. They make it far more complicated than it needs to be with several colors of plates and all of them are highly overpriced. One thing that really annoyed me was that every roll on a plate came in odd numbers of three. Common sense tells you that people don't normally dine alone and like to share their food, so why not put 4 pieces on the plate to make it equal? You charge so much for it anyway. Needless to say we cut our stay short and went somewhere else. That somewhere else was Sushi Chiyo and the difference was like night and day. Their quality, selection AND prices were so much better! Save your money and tastebuds and skip Sushi Tsunami.

Easily the best sushi in Vancouver. Simple classics and interesting chef concoctions, they are consistently putting out delicious plates for any appetite and wallet. I bring sushi aficionados and hesitant noobs alike and they all leave happy. I've never had any issues with the service. In fact, I recently went back for the first time in over a year and they recognized me and asked how I was doing. If you haven't been, check it out, soon!

    (5)
  • Krystal S.

This place has done downhill. Unfortunately their portion sizes are down to 3 pieces per plate and it's probably the most expensive around town (for conveyor belt). Service wasn't overly friendly or bad.

  • Shadan A.

I have been here many times with my kids, unfortately. It's close to home and the kids like udon noodles. I seem to regret it more each time and I'm happy to say we will never be going back. Not only is the food terrible, the service is equal or worse. Their "crab" substance they put in nearly every overpriced roll is mainly a glob of mayonnaise. They do not like when you order what isn't going around on the belt. The older tall lady is the worst server ever. She always seems so bothered to have to deal with us...walks away as you're ordering. Watched her go cut her nails with scissors at her counter and shit's flying. Just gross!

  • Nic S.

Ok let me start off by saying I'm an avid sushi eater and love to have sushi at least 2 times a week so trying sushi tsunami for the first time was very exciting and I had high hopes. I was let down, my regular sushi bars have great prices for all plates that satisfy everyone. But here at tsunami I noticed there prices are doubled of sushi Hana and sushi land. And not much choice of the belt to pick from. The only thing they get right here at sushi tsunami is their name it really is a tsunami disaster of prices and choices. But besides the fact calamari was $3 a plate it was surprisingly really good.

Octopus ! Who knew it taste great, let alone compliments cucumber so well. As I contemplated my choice; as each dish fallows the track around the restaurant . I spot an interesting picture on a sideways menu. " octopus salad", with out hesitation " excuse me, I'd like to give the salad a try". 2 minutes later I'm chewing on a delicate and flavorful cucumber and octopus salad. My advise is ; when in doubt try it out!

The food here is actually pretty good. The first time i went during the summer it was amazing. However during my second visit this fall, it fell short. We stayed for an hour and there was almost no variety. One of the ladies working there was very rude. And the place seemed like it just went downhill. The place has good food if you can find what you want (they hate when you ask for something instead of picking from the conveyer belt) Good food, nothing else

    (3)

I've always passed on this place primarily because of it's sketchy Hwy 99 location, but gave it a try after hearing good things from an aquantance. I've never dined-in, but have grabbed takeout now on a few occasions. The fish has been great but the one thing that makes me uneasy is the pungent smell of fish when I walk in to grab my order. I understand that a place that offers an abundance of fish will smell a little fishy, but I've never been to another sushi restaurant where it is so strong. It makes me wonder just how fresh all of the fare is. What I have ordered has all been great though, so I have no problem returning for takeout, atleast. The prices are also extremely reasonable and I can call my order in and have it ready within minutes. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area, though the traffic in this area is the worst, so be prepared to make some quick turns.

  • Pipi B.

I love the low priced sushi but you need to order from the menu to get variety, otherwise you just see the same dishes going by.

    (4)
  • David R.

I like this place, but I'm pretty easy to please with sushi. Its a conveyor sushi place so the service isn't really an issue. I have noticed they put out more variety than other conveyor sushi spots i've been to. Prices are inexpensive... I had four plates and a coke for ten bucks. Staff is all nice and attentive without being annoying. For what it is, this place does a pretty good job. 3/15/2014 edit: have been to a couple other sushi places and been back here twice . its just not quite as good as the other spot on 99...Im adjusting the review to three stars

I recently visited this establishment with my father and was pleased to find it was a sushi restaurant that uses a conveyor. Our experiences differed there, so if you're like my father and want to know exactly what something is before you take it off the line, you might be better off someplace else. The food selection was adequate and everything I chose tasted fresh and flavorful. The staff was friendly and attentive. Sushi Tsunami is a great place to stop in when you're craving sushi and don't want to break the bank.

  • Cynthia S.

Love this place! They have stuff here that I can't get at other sushi places. Also they are owned by some Korean ladies who are super sweet and friendly! Have a saki bomb! Or three! I love their sushi, and drinks! We like going as a family because my daughter doesn't eat sushi but they have teriyaki for her, so everyone is happy!

Best sushi place I've ever been to. Every time I'm in town I always stop by. Sushi tsunami never disappoints. They always have a new wonderful sushi creation when I come in. The staff is nice and the service is fast. Can't think of a single negative thing to say. :)

Nothing looks fresh. The employees don't look happy. The menus are old looking and the place looks like it's falling apart although it's not been there very long. I tried their spicy tuna roll during lunch rush and it tasted ok but I was a little scared to try anything else. Overall... not my favorite sushi track on hwy99 out of 2 places.

Been here five times. Prices are high. Only 3 peases per plate. Food not that greate. I rather go to a higher restaurant would of pay same price for a better quality. I don't recome this place.

A hole in the wall sushi-go-round in a small shopping center on Highway 99. What can you expect? I've had similar quality sushi from Sushi Factory near the mall, but this place charges more per plate.

My son and I like this place a lot. One of the better sushi places around here...we come often. And it is pretty inexpensive for sushi.

***Incredibly clean place (never noticed a "smell" that others claim to have smelled). ***The food is FRESH and beautifully presented. ***The service is always warm and friendly. ***The prices are awesome for the high-quality food. No negative points here!

You get to spend and eat what you want, I like the "free preview" the belt system gives you before you commit. Great sushi!

This is our West Side of Vancouver sushi-go-round of choice, but we're sure there's better out here somewhere. It's always reasonably good, a little pricey for what you get, and the selection on the conveyor is usually pretty thin. Still, if you do special orders, they get them to you quickly, and they're usually pretty well-put-together. If the place is quiet, the service is usually good, but if it's busy, then be glad if the waitress comes by to refill your water. The cooks are good about getting special orders out in a reasonable amount of time, and they have some tasty and unique special rolls they have created, but if we're going to be special ordering our sushi we'd rather go someplace where they focus on that instead of their weak belt selection. It's good for catching up with a friend over sushi for lunch, it's good for dropping in for a quick bite, but to get the better dishes you're ordering the expensive plates and it adds up fast. We don't mind coming here, but at the same time, we don't ever make a special trip to come here, either.

Dear Vancouver, Where have you been hiding this gem? Next to an arms store... well have to say was grand. Sat down and started to pull our plates, and racking up the cost. Two of us dined in and And ate until our bellies were full! Our total bill.....18 and change! Plate prices are 1.50-4.00 So just be careful on your food choices. We requested miso soup, which was quickly brought to us, however the Vegas roll ($3.00) took a bit longer to come to us. It was worth the wait. Love me!

Three and a half very strong stars for this conveyor belt style sushi buffet. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the open raw bar style chefs are very nice. The price is easy to deal with at this place if you lake the time to look at the menu for a minute. I tend to go nuts at this place and try and eat as many tasty treats as i can force feed myself because it tastes great. The most money ive spent on food at this place was 22 bucks and i was really trying to stuff myself with the most expensive things i could find although the cheaper things were just as good. I could easily have a nice lunch or dinner from 8-10 dollars and that beats making it at home any day. You can order anything youd like from the raw bar chefs or the servers and its always tasty. The rolls are always presented nicely and never falling apart. I suggest the spicy tuna cone and the sweet tofu sushi. The only down fall to the variety of their selection is the repetitive use of the crab stuffing and how most of them are california rolls with a twist. Im not doubting that they stay fresh and turn over faster that way, its just that vancouver lacks the adventure eaters portland posseses. I dive into the oddities from the sea with great pleasure sucking down scallop, squid, giant clam, and eel, along with raw fish dipped in soy sauce, but if your looking for foodie grade sushi this is not the place. Its a reliably good place to eat with fresh ingredients and good rice. If your in a hurry or feel like enjoying your time while sipping asian beer i recommend it for any age, even teeny tiny kids like it.

I go here often, so I am not remotely impartial on this. These guys do a great job. This is clearly the best sushi train I've ever been to. Staff is friendly, rolls, nigiri, and hand rolls are creative, and the price is reasonable. i've taken my kids here and they loved it. My wife wouldn't, but she's not a sushi geek like me. I can get a great quality 10 plate lunch here for $21-$28, or less if I've had breakfast.

Been there 3 times recently and every time has been perfect, the sushi rice has a traditional flavor profile and just enhances the already fresh and tasty fish. My personal favorite is the seared albacore, my fiance will get the salmon belly and eat 10 plates of just that. The rice really makes a huge difference. Now for us to pick a wedding date so we can hire them to cater it.

Meh. The food was just ordinary. Missing that X factor to make me say wow! A bit on the pricy side for the lower quality sushi.

I come here about once a month for lunch and there must be a reason I keep coming back. The staff are good at checking up on you and the sushi belt is always pretty full. The sushi is pretty delicious and is always being made fresh.

We have only been here once, but after talking to friends, we heard the same issues that we had when there. This place STINKS! It doesn't smell like fish, it smells dirty like it needs to be cleaned. It grossed me out. I have eaten at many conveyor belt type sushi bars and those without and have never experienced the stink that this one has. We liked the food but the smell will keep us from ever returning.

I usually avoid the sushi track places but we were starving and this seemed better than the options we were faced with. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise. You will find the usual prices of $1.50 to $5 for plates. I found that I spent a little more than I would have like only because something new would come by that I wanted to try. I guess that is a good thing.

This was the worst Japanese food I have ever had! It's the Denny's version of Japanese. The sushi was paper thin and almost tasteless. The miso soup in the bento box was watered down so much I couldn't even finish it-Yuck! The tempura had only a few pieces and one of them instead of the whole mushroom was only the mushroom stem! Terrible... Not sure how they got such high ratings. Maybe they had their friends and relatives all submit a review for them. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE! find someplace else if you really want sushi/Japanese food.

Always fresh, good size sushi and always busy (that tells you something) Its sushi track so the Service is simple. We go fairly often and have always been treated well. I would rather pay for good sushi and enjoy my food rather than save a few bucks overall and be disappointed eating elsewhere.

So, I usually eat at oishi sushi but they were closed and I wanted sushi. I called and ordered two California rolls. To say I was let down and a little upset would be an understatement. The rolls were tiny and fell apart while I was eating them. The rice was super mushy and felt like play dough in my hands. The fact that I ordered two rolls and only got 8 pieces of sushi was a shock as well. Not going back.

Try the jalapeno, it is delicious! My personal favorite sushi restaurant in all of Vancouver. The chefs will make you anything you want off of the menu or you can just pick dishes off of the sushi train, which is filled with yummy sushis for people who love, fish, crab or veggies. My fave dishes are the mushroom bomb, jalapeno and volcano roll...but their soups are also great for if your feeling peckish and weak. Try the udon soup. I tend to go here once every couple of weeks, which is less then I went in the past because I was getting too pudgy from how often I would eat out here. Sushi Tsunami is my guilty pleasure.

pricey selection that looks like it's been around the turnstile too long. Wait staff is nice and friendly but the sushi chefs are surly and not friendly at all. I don't understand why everything is so heavy on the spice sauce!

Sushi Tsunami delivers a pretty typical belt type sushi experience. A series of mostly roll type sushi doused in spicy mayo passes by, and every now and again you get a salmon or tuna nigiri. We tried all of the above, and the nigiri were better than average conveyor type sushi in my opinion. Rolls were maybe a little subpar, but I won't hold it against them as I knew better. We also ordered a mixed sashimi plate which was a bargain at $10.50 (versus a typical $18 or so). The sashimi was fresh and tasty. Overall the service was so so nice, and it's not a hassle to get here so I could see another trip back, but let's say it's not really the kind of place you would go out of your way to get to.

Sushi Tsunami, how I love thee. Your wait staff is much more attentive than typical conveyor belt sushi wait staff. Your chefs are so kind and accommodating. Your restaurant is bright, clean and attractive. I've always loved the food here - it's fresh, there's a lot to choose from, and there's a great selection of specialty orders to choose from. I would highly recommend trying their dragon roll. One of the best around!

Sushi Tsunami is a gem in Vancouver. It is simply the best fast Sushi joint. You can order Teriyaki Chicken and Bulgogi plates for the kids. The Red Snapper, Salmon, Spicy Yellowtail roll, Octupus all compete with higher end places. The staff is extremely friendly and the service is good (when you order something not circling) This is a clean restaurant as well. Thumb Up Jeff Herb

A bit on the pricier end for rotary sushi but it is made up for in the quality of the food. The service is okay, could be better. Overall, I'd come back again.

Great Sushi-go-round. The quality of the food is a notch above the other sushi tracks in Vancouver. They don't run those stupid sales where everything is too cheap so you have wait twenty minutes for something good to come around. And a bunch of the people there actually appear to be Japanese!

Just moved to this area of town and needed to nail down where we would go for yummy sushi. I think we've found it. :) Sushi Tsunami has tasty sushi and a friendly staff. The restaurant is clean and bright. The prices are a tad more than my old usual sushi place, but worth it. Definitely will be frequenting Sushi Tsunami. (Just went there last night... wish we were going there again tonight!)

Sushi Tsunami was formerly listed under a different name Sushi UMI. I went there last night for dinner. Sushi Tsunami is one of those Sushi Bars that has the conveyor belt that snakes all the way around the restaurant. The sushi is pre-made and placed on color coded plates with plastic see through dome lids. As the belt brings it buy you merely pick up the one you want. Each color has it's own price $1 to $3.50. I prefer a traditional Sushi Bar so I ended up ordering my sushi from one of the sushi chefs. They were very hospitable and eager to engage in conversation. Everything I ordered was excellent. They feature an extensive array of Rolls and a very appealing menu of traditional Japanese foods. Their beer selection could stand to be expanded. They only had Asahi in the tall bottles. The hot sake was great. I saw what appeared to be many regulars who knew the staff and visa versa. That's always a good sign for a Sushi Bar imo. The prices are the lowest I have ever encountered anywhere. I will be going back soon.

For a sushi go-round in Vancouver, this is great. I was concerned about the freshness and found I didn't have anything to worry about. Their quality is top drawer whenever you come in. I brought my parents here for a celebration dinner and they proclaimed it better than pricier places in Portland. My fave - their asparagus roll. This is a rice roll with asparagus and cream cheese inside..you have hit a tiny place of sushi heaven. They have the common as well as exotic - deep fried "American" things like egg rolls and potstickers as well as the custom hand-roll and octopus. They don't have much of a demand for jellyfish, so they don't carry it. However, they do have a variety of roe. Very kind and polite staff who are quite versed in English and American customs. VERY CLEAN restrooms.

mediocre at best. i was really excited to try this place after reading all the great reviews. unfortunately, it didn't measure up to all the great things people have said about it. which only makes me scared to try other sushi places around here. rice should be at room temperature, not cold. and it was packed way too hard, turning into a white brick of barely edible rice underneath an average piece of fish. their specialty rolls weren't so special. and if you are leaning on your rolls to make yourself stand out, it means you're doing something wrong with the basic concept of sushi. i noticed a lot of customers dredging their fish in soy sauce and wasabi. if that is how you eat your sushi, of course you are going to think it's good. all you taste is what you made of it yourself. i wouldn't consider myself a sushi snob. i'll hang out at the conveyor belt with the worst of them. but this place just didn't get it right. i'd like to say we caught this place on a bad night, but it was a friday. that should be the night sushi restaurants shine. sadly, it did not. highly doubt i would give this place another try. sorry sushi tsunami. your harbor wave was more like a trickle of rusty tap water.
