Seems like a great place. Had a couple beers. The staff was nice. The food looked good. It's clean and air conditioned, and has a good number of televisions with games playing.

My boyfriend and I had been here a few nights ago and we got great friendly service during a busy weekend night from a nice gentleman. Come today, business was busy again but we found a table and weren't bothered by the amount of people or the noise.. UNTIL we went to the bar to order food and drinks and THREE EMPLOYEES denied us help. The best part was that one of the employees, a female with dark hair who kind of looked like Mila Kunis (which was disappointing because I love that actress but very much dislike this woman), told us she was off work so she passed its on to someone else. Yeah, cool, fine when I'm off work, I don't want to help anyone either. So we leave due to the poor service, realise we forgot our umbrella and upon retrieval, see this lady behind the counter HELPING OTHER CUSTOMERS. Wish I would have taken a picture of her so I could talk to the manager and show him who it was but I also didn't want to be creepy/be in the stupid place anymore. SUPER disappointed that our first trip was so great and we were taken care of so well but then great service isn't provided every night.

We came on a Thursday night. We ordered some grapefruit vodka drink with soda and lime. It was served in a tall glass and tasted like club soda. I asked the bartender if he could add more vodka or fix it since it tasted like club soda. He said they have a heavy pour and insisted that it was fine. He asked if I'd ever had grapefruit vodka before. I told him I had. I was kind of embarrassed because the people next to us were watching so I told him nevermind. I couldn't drink it and tried to get his attention again a few minutes later but he ignored me A few patrons walked in and stood next to us at the bar. He walked past us to serve them and I said "excuse me". I told him that we couldn't drink the drinks we ask that you just remake them in a shorter glass with less soda. The person that was with me choked down about 1/3 of hers as we were desperately waiting for the bartender to come back. I asked the bartender if he would just make the two drinks again in a short glass with a splash of soda. He looked at her drink and said "you can't just drink your drink and expect a free one." At this point, everyone near us was looking on. I was so embarrassed. I told him that I would buy her a new drink if he would remake two please. He had an attitude as he started to remake the drinks and he repeated that they had strong pours or something. At that point, I believe I told him he was a jackass and it wasn't necessary. There is no reason to ever treat customers like that. We exchanged a few words and we left. The Matador down the street had fantastic drinks, great bartenders and good food. Tacoma Cabana was awesome too. The owner was very personable. Census was that the staff at Library bar is typically rude unless you fit their specific stereotype.

Happy hour = love. The food options are pretty damn good and their portions are big for happy hour. Some of our food (mac & cheese balls/ bacon wrapped tots) were slightly burnt but nothing inedible. A great place for beers...unfortunately not much of a discount on liquor unless you like the well drinks. Overall, a great place to hang out at and enjoy a cheap meal.

Checked out this place! Very good specials, and a very nice selection of alcoholic drinks! Gonna have to comeback and have something to eat next time, but IMO, the service was fast and courteous, and the price's are reasonable for the drinks and food. The place itself is clean, and they have a lot of good specials going on! I think I will be back here, and I would recommend this place.

Happy Hour kicks ass and takes names. If I'm down for a beer, shuffleboard and a cool hangout with friends in Tacoma it's usually the Office. They have assorted microbrews and their own house beers. Trivia nights on Thursdays are fun also. Lots of TVs to watch sports and Sounders games. Edit: Best hangout/bar in Downtown Tacoma. Hopefully they'll put my name up there!!

This is one of my favorite hangouts in Tacoma. The staff is very friendly. I really love their drinks, especially the Peach Kiss. They also have excellent bar food. My favorite is their Chicken Kabobs and Hummus. I would recommend this place for after work drinks or fun on a Friday or Saturday night. I love the late night happy hour.

This might have the BEST lunch menu in Tacoma. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted because every sandwich sounded good. Plus, with a price of $7.95-- can't be beat! Once the food came out-- it was as good as it sounded! YUM! The happy hour menu looks really great too-- so I can't wait to check that out too!

Food options are AMAZING but this place gets PACKED. Like... slink across the wall to move, packed.

This place is legit! Good happy hour deals, and top notch bar food. The bacon-wrapped tots are amazing, and the turkey bacon ranch sandwich with avocado on a gluten-free bun is honestly life-changing. Seriously good place to grab a bite to eat and a few drinks!

Where to begin. I'm currently sitting here waiting for my check. It's been 15 minutes. It's not busy. Food was hideous. Fish tacos had absolutely no flavor. Flat bread pizza was like eating a tire. We will never be back. Awful all the way around.

Great place for guys to hang out with friends. I like self serving bar and food, good and affordable!

First the waitress takes our order all through straight memorization. Then, waited for 45 mins for our appetizers. Then after about an hour, we asked the waitress is our main order ready. Then she replies by saying "uhhh yeah the kitchen is pretty backed up" (there were people there, but far from being packed) She sounded like she had forgotten to place my order. Then she returns 10 mins later and tells us "yeah sorry, the order you've placed is not available" WTF?? Why does it take an hour just to tell me that? Waitress then offered no apologies and just gave us the check as of nothing happened. Our waters were never refilled and she never offered if I wanted to refill my beer. I've been a bartender for 7 years and this is by far the worst service I've seen. Everrrrrrr. Note to management, please train your wait staff.

We have been here a few times and the service is always amazing! Great happy hour selection and good food. We came for a trivia night and it was a blast! If you want to catch a game here it would be a great place to do it too. I would recommend it for any type of night out!

Def coming back to try more HH food And of course we played trivia! And we had a great time with out ALL*STAR bartenders Rachelle and Bobby! They make it worth coming back for sure

03 Jul 2014, 02:00p We had just arrived at our friend's place in Tacoma and he decided to bring us to the Office for a late lunch. We were the only customers at that time and we started off with a few drinks to celebrate the holiday weekend. The bartender whipped up a patriotic cocktail to start which was supposed to taste like a blue otter pop, but I didn't get that. It was still tasty, though. The second drink was called a Juicy Fruit and was supposed to taste like the gum, but again, I didn't get it. Again, still tasty. For food, we ordered: Bacon Wrapped Tots Turkey Pesto Sandwich w/tots Mojave Grilled Chicken Sandwich w/tots Turkey Bacon Ranch Club w/fries The Bacon Wrapped Tots are outrageously good. Two tots per half strip of bacon, deep-fried. Can't beat that! Accompanying the tots are a paprika-mayo dip. I could eat those all day long! I had the Turkey Pesto Sandwich and it was good. It could have had a bit more meat, but it was tasty. They give a considerable amount of tots as an accompaniment and it was definitely filling enough for lunch. Hubby had the Mojave Grilled Chicken Sandwich and he enjoyed it. Our friend had the Turkey Bacon Ranch Club and he also enjoyed it. All three are on the $7 Lunch Menu, so they are definitely a good, affordable choice for lunch. Service was excellent and I would definitely visit again to try other thing on the menu.

Let me get my one complaint out of the way first (nothing against the bar), there is not enough space here when the place is jam packed on the Friday and Saturday nights i've come here. It's literally elbow to elbow, butt to butt at the tables and at the bar. It's hard to get a drink without pushing people out of the way. Other than that, here is my long list of positives: Shuffleboard in the back, beer paraphernalia that my boyfriend and I would love to have, a large liquor/beer selection, pretty good wine selection (loved the house merlot), AMAZING food for being a bar, friendly staff, great drinks, and in the heart of Downtown Tacoma! I'll start with the food... BACON WRAPPED TATER TOTS..... OMFG!!!!!!! I mean, I love tater tots, I love bacon, put those two together, and dip them in their sweet chili aioli (correct me if i'm wrong) was a huge food-gasam in my mouth. One order comes with about 6 (2 tots) wrapped in bacon. The bacon was so nice and crispy, and it's not the cheap bacon either, it's quality bacon they use here. The tots were nice and crispy as well with the center being what a tater tot should be, al dente'! My, my, my was I just in food heaven.... That wasn't all that was mouthwatering, the burger, the cheeseburger I ordered came on a brioche bun, nice thick hamburger, tomato, lettuce, mayo, and I can't remember what else was in that burger, but a delicious juicy pickle was on the side as well. The burger was nice and juicy, I ate it real slow because I didn't want to finish it right away as I knew I couldn't handle another. Bacon is an option for an additional $1, I didn't order the bacon with it for the tots were enough bacon for me. And for $5 during happy hour, can't get any better than that. We also ordered their fried mozzarella cheese sticks, oh for the love of cheese sticks! These aren't your ordinary, frozen and then baked cheese sticks, these babies are hand cut and rolled into their own coating, fried and served with a side of marinara. They were so ooey gooey inside and crunchy on the outside we were in mozz sticks heaven! My boyfriend ordered off their regular menu and got the Turkey Club with tots... that has to be hands down the best turkey club i've ever tasted! Turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato and on the same bun as my burger (not sure what else was in it) was soooo good too. Pretty much, whatever you order here you can't go wrong. Just follow your gut and taste buds and they won't disappoint you. Happy hour is amazing here, thats where I ordered primarily, and after ordering the two apps, my burger and my boyfriend's club, his beer and my house merlot we spent about $30 not including the tip. Can't get any better than that! When we go back to the Grand Cinema for another movie, we'll have to come back to The Office to try their other offerings on their menu.

I went there last night to meet a friend, never got greeted never got asked if I even needed anything, i told my friend i was gonna go and he said his food was been order but had been like 30min so my friend waited for his food as for me I walked out and not even a "have a good day" my experience at the office was not fun

cool, clean, chill atmosphere for a bar and grill. I ordered the house steak and added mushrooms---it was delicious! the steak was a perfect medium, juicy, and tender. the garlic mashed potatoes were full of flavor, buttery with full roasted cloves of garlic folded in. the carrots were cooked in a sweet glaze and complemented the dish well. I cleaned my plate. will definitely file this place in my restaurant rolodex.

Thursday trivia is one of the best nights of the week. Everyone here from staff to customers are really friendly. The food is fun and tasty, I love the fried mac n cheese balls, and they have lots of great things to choose from. Back to trivia night.... they have awesome prizes like sounders tickets and apparel and everything in between. It's free to play and they have themed rounds that are exciting and challenging. A go to bar for me in downtown Tacoma. See you there!

The Office - what a great name for a bar. It can be so many things - an after-work bar (hence the name), a sports bar (hence the many TV's and spread out seating), and a late night hotspot (hence the location on Pac Ave in Tacoma, similar to Fremont or Ballard Ave in Seattle). It is all those things. First, let me address that I completely disagree with Jay H about the service. I've been here many times and always served quickly and pleasantly. In fact this last weekend, being home for Thanksgiving, I stopped in with some friends and we sat at the bar. Everyone around us was lovely - chatting it up, we had a few drinks sent our way (which always makes for a good night, hehe WINK WINK). But what REALLY made it great were the two bartenders, Jenn and Chris. They were extremely fast, helpful but not pushy, and just fun people. Pic included of the duo (with their permission), Chris rockin' a Movember mustache to beat the band. The Office is really clean. The ladies' bathroom is a single room with a lock so ya get your space and time. ;) Basically I've stayed until close and it's kept up well. Lastly the food - also included a pic of the *Happy Hour Menu which is AT ALL TIMES, OPEN TO CLOSE, if you sit at the bar!*. The HH includes a range of delicious items either $2, $3, or $5. Man, it is refreshing to see some freaking sliders with some freaking fries, man. In Seattle they like to give you a little baby slider a la carte and call it good. (I'm lookin' at you, Barrio.) A fun crowd, comfortable bar, good for watching sports or just having a meal. And it doesn't hurt that there's another Office bar in Pullman, at WSU. Yet another reason I like this place!

I come here often for lunch. The atmosphere is chill with business people dropping by for their quick lunch. The staff, particular kelsie, was extremely attentive and polite. I had the prime rib French dip with a Caesar. I cannot stress enough how well the staff accommodated my needs to be in and out in a limited time frame. Definitely a great place for lunch.

I went to visit this place after bar hopping. I was pretty happy with my experience. I enjoyed the Vanilla Ice Cream and Brownies. DELICIOUS! The staff was prompt and very attentive.

I tried this spot once and felt that the food was severely disappointing. Although I ordered what was recommended as one of their "specialities" the fish tacos. My tacos were dry and underseasoned, made with standard ingredients that I could find at any Taco Time. The redeeming quality of this place are the drinks, but the atmosphere and the service are nothing special. Despite that, I decided that I best give the Office another chance, so I returned there for another happy hour. This time, I ordered fries and chicken strips, hopeful that my first experience had been a one-off. Unfortunately, I was met with the same level of poor service and truly disappointing food. Additionally, the prices were nothing I would be encouraged by. I could tell even when asking the waitress what she recommended, that she was unimpressed with the establishment's menu. She told us that she rarely eats there, but people tend to order a few specifics. It seems like her impression of the Office is about as nonplussed as mine is. I won't be going back there again, unless a friend insists on meeting up for drinks. In that case, I will definitely stop somewhere else to eat on my way there so I won't be subjected to more subpar dining at the Office.

It was a warmer day and so we were going to sit outside with our dog and we asked the waiter if we could have some water for our dog and he said he "didn't have a bowl".... What kind of place denies a dog water on a hot day? He was super rude about it too and clearly just didn't want to be bothered with it. No worries though, we went right next door to The Forum where we weren't turned away! They were much nicer over there anyways.

best happy hour in Tacoma!!!! such great drink and food deals. Mac n cheese balls with sriacha ketchup are so awesome. also the Mack n jacks beer battered fish is wonderful. the bartender Layla remembered from one time of me seeing her that I was pescatarian, and asked me about my new job I had told her about. she's awesome!

This place has a pretty good happy hour and some good specials everyday. However, as some other people have said the seating is really limited. I've been here for a few different sporting games and while they have the tv's going its been pretty packed. I will admit that they make a good strong margarita here. As a whole the drinks a pretty good for your money. Also, FYI their tacos are FABULOUS! Its a great after work place or just chill night.

I love this place! Close to work, awesome lunch menu with great selections and constantly being refreshed. Kelsi is an amazing bartender and the biggest reason I keep coming back! The atmosphere is super fun for co workers, friends, whatever.

$8 steak night on Saturday nights can't be beat. Decent size steak plus 2 sides for only $8. Always friendly service too.

Went for lunch. Incredibly bad service. Apathetic waitress (12-18-14) who just ignored us until we stared at her and another Server for 30 seconds. Slow service despite small crowd. Over cooked fried chicken breast on spinach salad. I go here once a year and it's always the same sad story.

Surprisingly more full than other bars in the area (Sunday night). Ordered the ginger lemon drop - a bit too sweet for me but good. BF ordered the dragon slayer. I liked it better than mine, not too sweet! Kamikaze drink - par. First time trying a grasshopper, tastes like an Ande's mint. While we didn't order door the sliders and the wings at the next table over look and smell DELISH!

I tried out this place for the first time today after walking by it several times in the past. I went during happy hour, and the prices were great. I glanced at the regular menu and the prices on there seemed to be okay, too. The food was delicious, the waiter was very nice, and the atmosphere was good. The tables are tall and clean, and there are a couple TV's that had football playing. It has a very friendly, relaxed atmosphere. It definitely seems like a place that you would go to with your co-workers or your friends.

    (5)
  • Travis M.

Really good happy hour prices and appreciated the extra cheap ipa. I'd say the food was pretty good as well. I wasn't overly impressed but overall had a good experience. I was there in the middle of the day and had no issues with space, but I could see that being a problem in the evening when there is more of a crowd.

    (4)
  • Timothy F.

I go here when my work-team wants to go some place. The portions could be a little bigger for the price. The food is good though.

Can't beat the Happy Hour menu! Place can get crowded, but seating still creates a sense of privacy. Otherwise, not terribly impressive food or atmosphere. Likely wouldn't come unless it was happy hour.

The Office is downtown Tacoma premier weekday lunch spot. The food is always good the and the Menu is varied enough to not get bored. The Service is exceptional and food gets ouf of the kitchen quickly. The service staff is efficient and very friendly.

  • Gretchen H.

RUDE. I'm not sure what their problem is.. We had a drink that accidentally spilled on the tip we gave the bar tender and he got soo rude about it, THREW THE MONEY AWAY and then proceeded to ask for more money.. Bottom line, don't tip if you go there because they don't appreciate it. Jerks.

Nice little spot amongst several nice little spots. Bartender was friendly but nothing makes this place stand out against its competitors. We might stop back by on a bar crawl night if we are already in the area.

  • Kim P.

I have heard about this place and know it's the local after spot for Comeback Sports but have to visit until a brief stop through. Walking in the place reminded me of Meconi's down the block, so nothing fancy. The bartender was meh, nothing more, nothing less. I had to ensure that I wasn't going to get the "house" vodka for my drink, she didn't seem to bother much with assuring me that I wouldn't get monarh:( The music was ok for a Bar & Grill but the crowd really detered from the overall place and I could definately see with some changes a much better overall atmosphere. After only having 1 drink we noticed that the tables stating becoming bare and soon the place was only half at the most vacated.

    (2)
  • Mechele L.

Happy hour menu is loaded with can't beat deals. Bacon wrapped tots and hummus plate is a sure hit. Staff is a bit slow and distracted by private convos behind the bar but if you order everything you will need up front, you should be good for a bit.

  • Kaila L.

New to town, came in on a whim and really enjoyed the atmosphere! Great drinks, prices, food and even better service! The bartenders were wonderful, very friendly and on top of everything! Clean bathrooms too!

  • Marissa A.

50 cent wings on Sunday...and they were actually good (bone in OR BONELESS). They serve a yummy bottled ginger beer named Crabbies, surprisingly delicious. Wait staff was very friendly, space was nice, good jukebox....just missing a crowd...maybe it's the construction in the area but for a Sunday afternoon it seemed pretty dead

  • Alaina W.

This is my boyfriend's cousin's spot. He can leave his drink on the back corner seat of the bar, leave for an hour, and come back and it'll still be there with a coaster on the top that says, "For a good time call XXX-XXXX." It wasn't really a phone number full of Xs. I just don't remember the number. Anyway... it's a nice little sports bar. Foozeball table & shuffleboard table in the back, nice natural light in the front. They have plenty of TVs so if you don't want to watch the soccer game going on (ahem... like me) then you can watch the playoffs. Their happy hour deals are pretty nice and I am in love with their salads and sweet potato fries. They come with this fantastic dipping sauce that tastes like strawberry jam mixed with a little bit of ketchup. It's close to a bunch of other bars and the train so you can barhop or uh... train travel...? Check it out if you like a laid back place to drink and watch your particular sport. And try the sweet potato fries.

What starts out looking like a cool little bar on the Pacific strip of potential hot spots ends up falling pretty flat on its face. Like most bars down on Pacific in Tacoma there is roughly 1 million more people trying to find parking spots than there are actual parking spots. I never hold that against a business though. If their only option based on their location is street parking then so be it. Where this joint falls dead for me... and I mean dead dead not vampire undead where it can still walk around and bring my slobbering face food... is the service. I've never had good service the few times I've been here. I've been here when it's been packed out and I've been here when there are, maybe, 15 people inside. Always bad service. Seats can be taken and 10-15 minutes can go by before someone comes by to say 'hi' or drop off water and take a drink order. You can order drinks and wait 20-30 minutes for someone to come by again and take your food order. Once your order is taken you don't know if your whole party will be eating together or over the course of 20 minutes or so as the food isn't brought out at the same time. Drinks go empty and remain so. And I know what you're thinking... why don't you just flag someone down?! Right? Yeah, maybe if I had the lit air trafficker batons, my head was on fire and I was singing the Mickey Mouse Club theme song with Adele's voice while doing cartwheels... then maybe someone would realize there are tables in need of food and beverage. So now that we have the atrocious service out of the way let's talk about the good stuff. Their blue cheese bacon burger is awesome. They aren't shy with the blue cheese and the bacon is crisp, tasty and of decent size. Their french fries are good and go well with their burgers or sandwiches. They have pinball and shuffleboard for entertainment as well as TVs with sporting events cavorting about in dizzying fashion. The bathrooms are typically clean and the lighting is good... it's not too bright for a bar but I'm also not scared of being ravaged by a werewolf in a dark corner and being left for dead. Honestly if their food weren't good I'd avoid this place like a zombie My Little Pony but the food is good so I'll come here when my friends decide this is the spot. Meh.

I have been to The Office a few times, and my experiences have always been positive. The Sounders fans will gather during matches and provide a nice, loud pub-like atmosphere. I saw a Liverpool flag as well, so I felt welcome. Service was good, quick and friendly even when it has been busy. They have good fish and chips, well-battered and crispy. Fries and tots are fried well too. Cilantro coleslaw is weird, but I can live without that. Last night I had fish & chips and a Strongbow (English semisweet cider) which was delightful, but watch out. They put ice in their Strongbow by default. I also had a "The Office Lager" because it's cheap on Tuesdays or during happy hour. Tasted a lot like a regular Coors to me. Other tap selections are mediocre, but Guinness and Mac & Jack's do live on tap permanently. Wings are pretty standard fried-then-frozen wings with sauce, but they are baked nicely and taste pretty good. You don't get a ton of them. Looking at the other reviews, I think the place may have changed in the last year. Seems different than what many people describe.

Pretty good....we first heard about The Office Bar and Grill at last year's Tacoma gay pride event where they had a table advertising themselves. I dont know what ties they have to the LGBT community here in Tacoma but was glad to see the so supportive. We went in to get a margarita for National Margarita Day and it really looked and felt like any other sports bar...not really a gay sports bar-esque trend that is going on but like any other sports bar. You can spot a few gays here and there and overall it did have a mixed vibe which is pretty typical for Tacoma. Our bartender was nice, the environment says sports pub and we enjoyed our margaritas...not my favorite bar of all time but pretty much enjoyed myself.

This is a great spot on Pacific. The staff is friendly and it's nice to have a laid back sports bar vibe but not be completely divey. This is a popular spot for my friends and I and will usually start the night here when going out in Tacoma. Be sure to try the tater tots.

I went back to my home town recently (Go 253!) and found myself in The Office Bar & Grill in between looking for some things I had to bring back to Halifax with me. For as long as I could remember I walked past this place a gazillion time (okay maybe more like 15 or 16 cause really who is in Downtown Tacoma a gazillion times?) and never even gave it a second glance. I was only in Tacoma for a few short days and vowed to try places I didn't when I was living there. The office qualified and so in I went for lunch. I think this place is more of an "after work" spot with it's multiple large screen tv(s) and sports memorabilia so it was almost empty when we sat down. As a lunch joint this place would be a gem if the secret didn't get out! Offering up the standard salad / burger / sandwich menu the Office has a pretty sweet $5.00 lunch deal (1/2 sandwich and any side - of which I choose tator tots!!). Because it was pretty empty we didn't have to wait long for our food and get on with the rest of our day. They also do a 253 happy hour which looked pretty awesome as well. Items for $2 (cheese sticks, tater tots...) / $5 (quesadilla, chicken strips...) / $3 onion rings, soft tacos...) from 3p - 6p and 9p until closing everyday and on Monday's have a 2 burgers / 2 brews for $20 (pretty much like getting a free beer and who doesn't like free beer?)

First impression...a neighborhood bar for either locals or after work drinking. Nothing fancy but not a rat hole. However, the service and food sucks. Don't go in unless you have some time to kill. Prior to attending a concert, we stumbled upon this place. The place we wanted to go was packed and so we decided to give it a try. After waiting a half hour for a chicken burger and a steak, while watching the staff stuff there faces when the swinging door was open enough, we finally got our food. The chicken burger was on the low end of bar fare and the steak was served with a Jack Daniels demi-glaze that was more like a Jack Daniels Jolly Rancher that stuck to your teeth! Terrible service and food, even for bar standards. Never again.

Started coming here more when I got a job next door. As a frequent lunch guest, and occasional after-work patron, I love and appreciate the consistency in quality of the food (pretty standard bar food, but yum!) and excellent customer service. Always cool and refreshing to walk into, great during summertime! I consider The Office a valuable and friendly member of the downtown community.

Their all day happy hour on Sundays is awesome. The 2-5-3 deal can't be beat. Great Taco Tuesday deal and yummy tacos. Sounders viewing down here with the Emerald City Supporters! Love this bar downtown!

First place I went for my 21st and for no particular reason. This place is very welcoming, the bartender was super friendly and the drinks are good. Please try it out.

We used to frequent this place but a few days ago we were reminded why we don't go there anymore. Service was ok, but the food was pretty bad. My husband ordered the tater tot nachos and they came out over cooked, like they fried them too long and then they sat under the broiler too long, so the cheese became glue. My wings tasted as though they'd been frozen for quite some time. The only good item was my husband's burger, he seemed to enjoy it. The food used to be good, fresh and tastes as though someone cared for the final product. Now it's the complete opposite.

Definitely the best sports bar in the area. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, good food (which includes insanely cheap happy hour items), and a pretty good beer selection, although I would like to see more local beers rotating in and out. It can get really busy on the weekend, but they still manage very well. The "runoff" from the big whiskey sometimes ends up there, which can be a huge deterrence for people not big into the "bro-ey" croud, as well as the music being a bit on the obnoxious side (it's the weekend though, so I won't complain). I feel like I should give the place a 4, but it would be for things that can't be fixed (ie.-some of the clientele), but the staff is really awesome, and the prices are just as good.

I liked this bar, and I've been once or twice now. In a strange way though, I'm a little concerned for it... it's just enough like all the other neighboring bars that there's nothing to make it stand out. I hope it finds a way to differentiate itself a bit more so it remains successful. That being said, good drinks and pretty good food as well. The staff is also particularly nice.

Remembered something about the write-up in the Volcano terming this place "the ultimate man cave". Invited out to celebrate a friend's birthday and we arrived a little early. Was about 30 minutes prior to happy hour, no biggie. Went ahead and ordered a bottle of wine and took in the surroundings. A little quiet for a Saturday night, quite a few people out on the streets seemingly going between The Firwood and Meconis down the street. After the rest of the party arrived, we were able to put three tables together with the help of our awesome kick butt server. And he even was able to wave the corking fee when the birthday boy brought his bottle in from dinner he purchased elsewhere. Happy hour was awesome, 1.99 basket of tots w/ your choice of sauce - doesn't get better than that. Hubby and I shared an order of Sliders for 3.99 and we nibbled on some other fare at the table. Wouldn't mind making this the next hang out - the service was great, food was cheap, and plenty of weird people watching, just like I expect in Downtown T-town!!

I have to admit- i come here when Matador is way too packed. It's not a big place- and it gets crowded on the weekends. The bartenders are awesome. Very entertaining. The have a great selection of beer. Food- I like their fries, tater tots and salads. That about it. They had fried mac and cheese which was really dry. I tried their bonless hot wings- they were small. Maybe because they were on the HH menu?!? Fried mushrooms- no flavor. I'd come back again not my first choice though. But if you're looking for some cheap HH they have a 2$, 5$ and 3$ menu.

Great place to watch a sporting event. Food is not bad either. We sat at the bar with frequent refills and happy hour menu. My only complaint was that they didnt have a Pale Ale, Wheat ale or Hefeweizen on tap. CMON! Hoping for a quick resolution here.

I came here last night for the first time admittedly for one thing only. To try the Tator Tot Nacho dish I had read about either in the TNT or the Weekly Volcano, I don't recall which. I was not disappointed. It's exactly as it sounds, you can order their nachos, and have the option of having it with tots instead of tortilla chips. Normally I may have given a 4 star, but... unfortunately the service really hampered my experience at this place. I don't like really affecting my ratings on a place solely on the experience with the staff, but this is one of those circumstances where I had no choice. I have not seen a place this severely understaffed in a long time. The bar was okay, with 2 bartenders working. It was a saturday night, so the place was packed. But there was only ONE lady working all of the tables. It seriously took a good 30 minutes waiting to get our tabs so we could leave. Making matters worse, there were no tables available, so we were standing there right in the middle of everything with people trying to get by us. To make matters worse, the waitress totally messed up everything as bad as is possible. Putting my order on my friends card, taking my cash payment towards another, etc. you get the drift. Normally I would just destroy the employee in this circumstance, but she was literally covering a good 20 tables or so, the place was packed, and I am sure she felt like her head was going to explode. I don't blame her for messing up severely on our checkout, or taking an unbelievably longtime to get things resolved (all an all from the time we asked for our tabs, and the time it took to fix the error, it was about 45 minutes of standing there looking stupid) I blame it on the management at this place with not staffing an adequate amount of employees. I really did feel bad for the girl, so I didn't give her a hard time. I might give this place a 2nd chance. But I doubt it.

This place is such a good break from the normal bars in Tacoma and is a welcome addition to downtown. The bartenders are some of the most laid back and nicest in Tacoma.

I really enjoyed eating here last night. My girlfriend and I went in and used our Living Social coupon we bought a while back (few months ago). When we came in we sat ourselves, the waiter came right over, handed us menus and gave us a list of drinks that he recommended and what was on special. We ordered some food and made some special requests to change about the food, and he was more than happy to help us out. The food came out exactly how we had asked for it (a rare occasion when I get behind a menu). I had a Bacon & Bleu Cheese burger with Tots. It was very tasty. Nice charred taste to the meat, still very juicy. My girlfriend had the chicken sliders and fries. They were tasty as well. I did come here once before on a busy Friday night and got good food, but the waitstaff job was a little lacking that night. I had to go up to the counter and ask for my check twice. Other than that, that visit was the same as the latest. Everyone has an off night, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Bottom line, I will be going back.

Place just opened. 2 thumbs up. They have Hamms on tap for $1.50 in happy hour. It's equivalent to PBR, but....I might give it the nod. And that's hard to do being that I'm all time fan of the "Blue Ribbon Award Winning Beer". I ordered the chicken sandwich they have and it was awesome, extremely tasty. For good measure, I then ordered the chicken wings. They were good. Not as good as the sandwich, but good. No one beats the Matadors wings, IMO. As for the perks of the bar....the box with all the games (ie. Photohunt), a pinball machine, shuffleboard, a couple other electronic games like golf and bowling, and a nice juke box on the wall. The friendly customer service definitely stands out. Whether or not it's because they are new or not will yet to be determined. Now, for the ONLY Con, and what will prevent me from coming back here as often as I can and would. It's all about what are you going to do for ME as the customer. I was a bit disappointed to see that the happy hour menu is basically just a BUCK off! I can get a nice sized buffalo chicken pizza for 5 dollars at the hub (normally like 9 bucks). So at the hub, the knock off 4 bucks, but here, just a buck?? For me, it's all about the happy hour bargain if I'm going out - Bang For Your Buck. Come on guys, really...a buck off the food is the best you can do? Despite all the other greatness, I'll still wind up taking my business elsewhere. And actually, I"m headed to the hub right now...5 buck chicken pizza, how can you beat it?

We went tonight on a Groupon. It was not the type of place we would have gone otherwise. We don't venture into Tacoma often, but I guess we should - we've not been steered wrong, Harmon, Varsity and now The Office - all great places. The Office was more bar than grill, but since we don't drink, we were there for the grill. The walls are exposed brick - awesome. The music was loud, but good music, and not so loud that you couldn't talk at a normal level. But, how was the food? Food was awesome. We started with a chicken quesadilla. The tortilla was grilled so it was very crispy. Very tasty with guacamole and sour cream. My wife had french dip and she gave me bites and it was really good. She had tots with hers and they, too, were tasty. I had a Bacon Bleu Burger with onion rings. The burger was charbroiled. Juicy and really good. (I do think I liked her french dip a little better, but the burger was still excellent.) Service was by a heavily tatooed guy whose name I can't remember. He introduced himself and said he'd be our bartender, waiter, waitress and a few other titles. When we started, the place was a bit quiet, but by the time we left, the place was really hopping, but the guy stayed attentive the entire time, keeping our drinks fresh and checking up on us. (And he even knew about the GroupOn from the beginning.) Our two meals + appetizer + drinks was $38 before the $25-off GroupOn which was a good price for that excellent food.

If you would like to shout your best kept secret, this is a good place to go. Nobody can hear you anyway...seriously, how come was it so, so loud?? I can't remember anything else but yelling at my friend who was sitting right next to me the entire time.

There really isn't very much to say about this place. Went there with a friend and had a Dos Equis while he had a rum and coke. While drinking, the waiter, who was as cordial as most ordinary ones should be, informed me of the Taco Tuesday $2 for 2 tacos. Well perfect for me since I wasn't VERY hungry but wanted to have a little bite. The tacos were, well, tacos...plain and simple. As I could care less about sports, the flat screen TV's and such made no diff to me. One of the bartenders, a girl, either walks with a major swish or tries to overdo her strut so much that she actually hit one of the tables with her hips....which was funny. Yeah, a place like any other...nothing special, not an amazing menu either. Like one other reviewer stated....they need to do something to stand out more in my opinion. So-so, OK and that's it.

Meh is about right. Came for lunch on a weekday. It wasn't busy at all, but we still hardly got waited on. The sandwich and coleslaw was just okay; nothing memorable about either. It's in a good location, as there aren't many middle-range dining options downtown that aren't fast food. I am sure it's a fun place to be after dark.

Laid back atmosphere, nice bartenders and servers, I guess I need to go back and experience the food a bit more. For some reason I thought I'd had mac n cheese bites here but apparently not since they're not on the menu. Must've been really drunk and ate a chicken strip or something.

My friend got food poisoning from the burger and was green and super sick an hour later. The waitress was new and had no idea what she was doing. She needed serious help and training. I suggest staying far away from this place.

The best thing about this place is the bartenders! They were super friendly and not in an abnoxious, won't you please let us talk kind of way either! I loved that he asked our names and remembered them the next time we were in. The happy hour is great and the beer and wine selection is above average for this kind of a place. I do agree with one of the previous reviews that it needs a little something more to make it stand out and make you want to go there over the many other options on Pacific.

Great staff! Great New York Steak! The salad w/ blue cheese was tossed perfect and delicious. Demi glacé for steak was amazing. Bartenders are friendly and willing to make anything you like. Both owners were present and made the whole group feel at welcome. Pinball, video games and shuffleboard were a welcome addition to a great bar and grill.

We came here as a cheap alternative to the Matador next door only to get pricey weak drinks. The first time we were given the wrong order completely...vodka sodas instead of rum and cokes...then when we politely asked for the first drink they seemed irritated and we watched them pour a drop of liquor. When we mentioned it was hardly a shot they quickly dumped rum to overflow the glass and charged me for an additional double. Maybe these guys hate their jobs because this place wasnt busy. I will never go back again.

The food and atmosphere are great. I ordered the Office Burger on the suggestion of my waitress and she was right on. I love the sidewalk seating area. The place is fresh, clean and everyone was very nice and helpful.

Great place to come and unwind after work! Had a couple beers, watched SportsCenter, and relaxed. Plenty of TV's to watch and a shuffle board to play. Bartenders were real cool and friendly and this is a place we'll be hanging out from now on. Great food, great people...what else do you need?
