We have eaten here a few times and have always left full and happy. We don't drink, we go for the food so I cannot comment on the alcohol. The portions are large, tasty and worth the wait.

I LOVE this place! It's hit or miss though, sometimes the food isn't great, but when it is it's on point!!!! The nachos are bomb dot com and so is the rabbit food salad or whatever it's called. This place is a great sports bar, fun atmosphere, super nice waitresses and has awesome food and drink deals. We used to go to the UP Station but now cone here for football... LOVE it!

Order: The Big One w/ Tire Treads Burger Layout: Bun, Mayo, Eggs, Bacon, Ham, Swiss Cheese, Burger, Cheddar Cheese, Burger, Pickle, Lettuce, Mayo, Ketchup, Bun Cost: $10.50 Fries: Tire Treads = Waffle Fries NASCAR! Pulltabs! All the sports all the time! We deep fry everything! Perhaps I was just not prepared for the full frontal assault of the aura that is the Loose Wheel when some friends of mine and I stopped in for a burger on a Friday night. From the entire wall of pulltabs to the NASCAR themed menu to the man puking out of his vehicle, and finally to the size of their burgers... this place goes big... a little too big. While I wasn't in Man vs. Food mode and about to take on the WHAT WERE YOU THINKING 2lb burger challenge, I opted for the second largest on the menu that's aptly named "The Big One". This beast takes half pound patties and just about everything else laying around the kitchen that could conceivably go on a burger. The burger is stacked high, but the combo of the burger grease and the drippings of the two runny eggs make the bottom bun so soggy from the start that it's nearly impossible to pick up. Once I did manage to taste it, a few things stood out. 1. The bacon was fantastic 2. The ketchup that I repeatedly asked to not have on the burger was indeed on there (sad, but there was so much other stuff, even I could barely taste it) 3. All the toppings together were really tasty but it all fell apart when... 4. The two large, overcooked, dry, chewy patties were the heart of every bite and all the juiciness from the egg and condiments couldn't cover for it. The accompanying waffle fries were tasty, but as far as sides from here, don't bother with fries and instead try out their fried pickles or green beans. Both were excellent. 2/5

Had heard about The Loose Wheel from a number of different sources and decided to give them a try. This is a great example of a semi-divey sports bar. They have a decent selection of taps (I estimate about 20), and a well-stocked bar. They appear to have food/drink specials every night of the week - I was in on a Thursday - Taco Thursday - where they offer .75 tacos or $8.95 taco salad, and I believe $2.00 Tecate cans. For .75, the tacos were fine. My wife ordered chicken & jos... Holy smoke! They brought out a half chicken (fried), about a pound and a half of jo's, a big biscuit, and about a cup and a half of coleslaw! This is enough food for three people to split! Tasty food & good drinks = give it a try!

The food is as plentiful here as the number of HDTVs. It is theoretically impossible to walk out of this place hungry. Plenty of beers on tap and certainly plenty of food options on the menu. The service is pretty consistently good. (Seek out the server with the UW Huskies duct taped bill holder). My only question is why don't they subscribe to Fox soccer channel?! They actually do have karaoke on weekends which gets tough on the ears.

Went in at 1 in the morning for a beer and some pool. 20 minutes before last call we were kicked out, our game just started our beer unfinished and then went into the restrooms to kick my girlfriend out before she was finished. All around a terrible experience.

MAN! I wonder why some places continue to exist in Tacoma when other places are doing it better for cheaper with better service. After two visits I had some of the worst service I have ever seen. Both times they tried to upcharge me on the price of coors light during happy hour. Both times! What made it worse is that the guy next to me had the same issue. Except, the guy next to me received a verbal lashing about his constestment of the bill. He had the same issue as me (ordering a coors light, being charged for more expensive draft) . For this guy he was told he should be more aware of what he is ordering, did not change bill and still this guy was made to suffer. You could see in this guy's eyes that he was completely unsatisfied and that the service was not doing anything to assist in his happiness. At that point I lost complete respect for anything good they have going on. With as many options as there are in the North/West End of Tacoma, I don't understand why someone would come here. Go to a place that respects, understands, and provides customers with wonderful dining experiences.

Went here to watch the Seahawks play on Sunday. Tip: Get here early, the place was packed! No seats available, not even at the bar. Luckily, we joined two friends that had a table and open seats for us. Great atmosphere to watch the game! I didn't order food, but my friend did and she said it was great. Service was a bit on the slow side... with that being said, the place was packed so definitely understandable. The staff looked like they were busting their butts. Parking lot is very, very small.

  • Lisa L.

I have been here many times, because my son plays on their pool league! The place is usually nice and clean, but the service sucks! If you can get someone to wait on you, they take your order and you never see them again! This happens with food, and pull tabs especially! If I didn't have to go there, I definitely wouldn't!

This place was good, the ambiance was a little sleazy but in a good way. Good mix of people and they have an amazing happy hour. you buy one drink and a burger and you get another burger free. Beware though, their fancy burgers are huge. Delicious but huge. I would suggest them to folks looking for a burger in Tacoma.

Upgrading to 5 stars. Decor is lacking, but service is good and wings are amazing.

Great place to catch the game and have a darn good burger, and tues. night buy one get one and at 9.00 great deal. Note on tuesdays get there before 5 or your going to be standing, great kept secret thats getting out. Plenty of Tv's to see the game, nice menu to give you a very filling meal

I loved the lively energy here. Went a few times over the last few weeks. The Friday before the Superbowl it was packed but service was still attentive and consistent. Last time we went we actually ate there. You have to love a place with tater tots on the menu. I will definitely be going back.

Stopped by for lunch with my brother today.. I had been to the location in the past when it was O'Henry's--- it is sooo much better now. The service was a little slow but they seemed pretty busy. The server was sweet and courteous. I had the buffalo chicken wrap- very yummy! My brother had the fajita chicken wrap and he really enjoyed that as well. Neither of us could finish our lunches and needed boxes to go. I'll be enjoying the rest of my wrap for dinner. Will definitely visit again.

We went in on a Saturday morning and had no issues. Service was prompt. Apparently they only serve breakfast until I believe noon on weekends. We arrived about 1130 and waitress was very accomodating and took our order anyways. We ordered wings. My husband wanted to try the I believe they were called "stupid" hot wings. But he didn't want to commit to a whole order. He asked if he could just get a few of those and the rest of the order the "hot" sauce. They gladly did it without any hassles. Thank goodness they did that! He is a lover of hot things and was blown away by how hot they were. He was very exicted to find a place that really had HOT wings. Those wings alone will guarantee a return trip. :-) I had the broasted chicken and jo jo's. OMG yum! They were real jo jo's and the chicken was so flavorful! YUM YUM YUM! We watched other plates go by and goodness those burgers looked awesome! We will be back.

Burgers and tots were good with a generous portion. Service was great and they were quite busy. Parking is limited so plan accordingly. TVs everywhere.

Try the BLT, I dare you! You'll never look at another sandwich the same. Beer, BLT, great waitresses and sports....need I say more?

Tonight we came in about 6:30, 1 table open the place was packed. This is my 3rd time coming here. The food and drinks were great but the issue I had was the bathroom left door didn't lock and swung open and with only 2 stalls not good the 3 times I had to use it. Then between 3-6 Vapor smokers were constantly smoking and seriously do what you gotta do but I don't wan't to inhale your synthetic crap. Its gross, I smell it and tatse it, therefore it affects me. Our waitress I told ( black girl, cute, long hair) actually said before I can get the words out "I really don't care, my friend is over playing pool probably doing it" I said I really dont care and she said "well I can bring someone over if you would like" I said sure. So then a man comes by not sure of his name and said "they didn't allow vaping in there Puyallup restaurant and he didn't approve either". My main issue is don't subject people to this when there lazy butts can go outside.

Delicious Hawaiian burger!!!! My husband kept saying over and over again how good his burger was too. A lot of beer on tap.... which is a huge plus. Nice atmosphere. We will be back for sure.

Nice selection of brews, plenty of TVs, and decent chow.

  • Vince A.

Been going here since it opened. The wings used to be big and flavorful as was the steak. The fish and chips were the best! Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. The quality of all food has definitely taken a dive (quality and preparation) while they have raised prices. It's a shame. This was a good place when it started. There is too much good competition around. A lot of places on 6th Ave have come and gone. Think this is going to be another casualty if they don't get it together.

    (2)
  • Laura M.

Compared to every other place we checked in the area, this one should be ten stars. It was packed, but the service still was fast and friendly. While the seating was not super comfy, the drinks were great, the food was both delicious and came in massive portions, and there was no lack of something to do - pool, karaoke, alcohol. This place is a FIND!

  • Robin W.

First off, let me say I LOVED the wing sauce. It and the service are the only reason this is getting a 3 star review, otherwise it would have been 2 stars. We got the Hot and Mild - Both were delish and plentiful, but the wings weren't crispy. At all. Which ruined the wing in my opinion as wing skin should be crispy. When it's not, something is just lost. But they were decent sized for the price (We got 24 for $17.95). The hot had my lips still tingling in some spots a couple hours later and you could see the chuncks of jalapenos. The mild had good buffalo taste without losing a small kick. My husband had The Loose Wheel burger and enjoyed it. Big, messy and he said the 1000 dressing was some of the best he's had, even the next day reheated. I got tater tots and he got fries - You can tell they use the same oil for EVERYTHING because the potatoes tasted like chicken and fish, etc. This is a downside in my opinion. I really wasn't in the mood for fish, so I wasn't as enthused about tater tots as I should've been. The service was great! We sat at the bar with all the gambling tickets cause there weren't any tables open or room at the other bar and the woman serving us was great! Sara was attentive without being smothering. She took our order in our head, did mix up my husbands fries and did tater tots instead, but as soon as she was told, it was fixed in under 5 minutes and his fries were out. We had a couple drinks - My Malibu Bay Breeze was heavy on the rum to the point I could taste it over the juices, but at least that means they are generous with the liquor! My husbands Jack and cokes were a little on the heavy side as well, but that's okay with him. The karaoke show was good - The DJ was attentive and fun to work with. While it won't be a regular place for us, it will be something that when we want to change the pace up a bit we'll head out to.

Awsome burgers!! Had the holy guacamole burger & texas 500 burger w/fries and a couple of beers. Bartendress was friendly and nice, very helpful. I recommend trying this place.

The pool tabs and her garden are the only things I like about this place, service is mediocre and the crowd is kinda iffy , I felt ignored as I see 5 servers with minimal stuff to do, just standing around and I as one of two people playing pull tabs had to wait far to long to get more tickets. I'll give this place a maybes as far as trying more frequently

When it comes to bars in Tacoma, it doesn't get any better than The Loose Wheel! We went on a Friday night and the food was great, the drinks were well mixed and the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for - lots of people but not too crowded to move around. The karaoke guy, Bobby Miller, is a great host with an awesome set up! If he doesn't have what you want to sing on hand, he can get it pretty easily online; now THAT's rapid response to customer demand! My only complaint was that our waitress seemed more interested in flirting with the bouncer guys (I think they were off duty, but def. bouncers) than in actually bringing us what we ordered.

  • Mike M.

Bright & clean. Was greeted nicely with a smile & she even introduced herself. The food was great a lil more then a normal lunch out, but the service and place was great.

After a long trip from California we needed a big juicy burger, this was recommended. It did the trick. I had the stuffed blue cheese burger very delish with sweet potato fries. I also had the garlic Parmesan chicken wings flavor was good but too greasy

Steak special night, 16oz New York, choice of potato, salad and a roll= $10.95. Good steak, actually cooked to a real medium rare, on a side note I did make a big deal to the waitress when I ordered about it being cooked correctly, my buddies medium came out super well done. Typical sports bar, good atmosphere, even for a guy who does not drink alchohol.

I love this place! I always get the Hawaiian Burger... because it's effin' pineapple and teriyaki sauce on a burger!!! Add some bacon and it's like eating a grilled angel meat sandwich. Yum! There's usually a ton of different sporting events on the multiple televisions which is perfect for my ADD. Add in all the games (pool, darts, air hockey, basketball, fooseball, etc) and there's tons to keep a guy occupied. There's always good people watching to be had here which gets more entertaining as the night goes on. The bartenders and servers are rad and handle their business. Even when they are insanely busy they still try to be friendly and conversational. Parking can be scarce so don't be afraid to park across the street and play a live action version of Frogger as you cross the street. I've drug my Seattle friends down here a few times so they can get a taste of a good Tacoma spot and they love it. Oh, and... tots FTW!

  • Dominica R.

It was ok. It was crazy busy on a Friday night,we were lucky to get a table. The place is pretty small with only a couple pool tables. The parking lot is super small which kinda sucks. The service was so so it was so busy and not many servers it was hard to flag the couple of waitresses down. The drinks are pricey but they do have specials most days. The food was pretty decent better than most "bar food". All in all it's probably a cool place but not on Friday especially if you have a group of 4+.

  • Nicole S.

Delicious food and strong drinks! Good service can be hard to get here but they make up for it in other ways.

    (4)
  • Barbara M.

The Loose Wheel has been one of our favorite hangouts for over a year now! The staff is friendly, the specials are great and I love their Happy Hour! I especially love the Tuesday night "Buy a burger get one for $2" and Taco Thursdays!

    (4)
  • Barbara A.

If there were 10 stars The Loose Wheel Bar and Grill would deserve them. Best burgers ever and you can choose jo-jo's, tater tots or french fries to go with it. On Tuesday's buy one burger get the 2nd one for $2. Great service. Zillions of TV's for sports lovers and pulltabe heaven. Again, best burger in Tacoma.

Finally made it here without turning around and leaving due to a high cover charge to watch WWF or whatever.... The two stars go for the good service we received and a nice drink pour. Our gal was busy, but very personable. On to the food. We went with the Saturday night steak special. 16oz New York, choice of potato, salad and a roll= $10.95. The salad was good (minus the croutons that all the other customers were getting). THE WORST STEAK EVER! When you have to spit out half of every bite due to gristle and hunks of fat, you know it is about 4 steps below prime beef. Not just my steak, but my husbands as well. Pretty much inedible in my book. I will give this place one more try.....but I think I will stick with a burger.

We had dinner there tonight. It was busy, but seats were available, we sat at the bar. There was no parking available in the parking lot, so we parked at another business. Again the wait staff was great, friendly, helpful and there when you need a refill. The clientele there were also very friendly. There were lots of good, quality TVs for watching the games. Dinner was good, I had their Saturday night special: New York steak, baked potato with all the trimmings, salad and bread. Basic, good food, my steak was cooked perfectly. Great price. We've been here only once so far for breakfast. It was good, the potatoes were overcooked, the gravy was good and they did cook the eggs correctly. Not enough gravy for the biscuits and gravy. The bloody mary was very tasty, just the right amount of spice. My son-in-law had the Reuben, it looked very good, and he said it was good. I'm looking forward to going for lunch or dinner, the menu looked very tempting. It'll will probably get 4 stars then. Our wait person was very nice, friendly, informative.

This place is awesome great food good company.however they left the pool table opened during the game, obstructing my and others view

I have eaten here 3 times over the last few months and I have left satisfied every time. It does have sort of a Nascar theme which I can't stand but I just try and ignore that aspect whenever I go there. Inside it is a nice place though, lots of TV's all around with some sort of sporting event on each one. Usually baseball, golf and some sort of auto racing playing in the background. OK, the good stuff. The menu is huge as are the portions. I have had the fried chicken and jo's, the wings and the Ruben sandwich. All the food was really good and VERY filling. Come here hungry because you will get a plate full of food at a VERY reasonable price with friendly service to boot. If you want great food at a great value you should try it out, I just might go there today!

    (4)
  • Carolyn P.

My husband and I split the french dip sandwich. The bread was grilled so it held up nicely to being dunked in the yummy au jus. And the lightly battered fries are very good. If you don't have a huge appetite you can easily share a meal like we did and that makes the prices even more reasonable!

  • Jacqueline S.

I've become a big fan of the loosewheel bar and grill, I walked in not really knowing what to expect. To be honest I was only coming here because they showed all football games on Sunday.. But!!! The breakfast here is awesome! Pretty big serving sizes and really good prices.. I usually go for the 3-2-1, 3 pancakes 2 eggs and 1 piece of ham, bacon or sausage.. The homefries, which are seasoned potato pieces are pretty delicious too.. Sometimes your food can take a while to come out but it's a load back bar and the servers are super friendly so that doesn't really bother me.. I've never been here for drinks but I mist admit I'm really tempted to make it happen.. If you want a good place to hang out for games and for breakfast loosewheel is the place.. They do have a pretty good lunch/dinner menu but I've always ordered breakfast, I have tried the wings which are your basic bar wings.. But once again I will say, the breakfast is a must!!

  • James M.

This would be a great place to come and watch a sporting event. I went in a on random week night, had the gauc burger and a beer. All fine and good. Place was a little empty and thus a little cold, but on Sundays I am sure this is not the case. My waitress was nice and attentive enough and service was good. I like it I just don't love it.

    (4)
  • Nick S.

This is the standard bar. Not a dive, just simply a place to good halfway good burgers and steak at reasonable prices. Plus, they have 20-something beers on draught. Oh and pull-tabs, pool and sports in tv.

My girlfriend and I come here often. Love the taco salad and broasted chicken.

They are not even that busy and it is taking forever for them to bring out our food. More than a half hour for appetizers. What gives?

Went to this place for some Saturday College football and was severely disappointed. I understand it was busy because of the football crowd, but the service was beyond slow. Our server was very unprofessional and dared to call my friend an asshole, which she thought would be funny. My party sat at an angle perfect to watch the kitchen, we ordered our food and waited 40 minutes for it. We could see that the food was waiting on the expo line for 30+ minutes, therefore resulting in all our food/wings being cold. The server played stupid, or maybe she was in fact brain dead, and said she was new and didn't realize the food was waiting there, blah blah. Once we got our food, 2 people's orders were wrong but the bartender instead of apologizing, blames the cooks and/or saying we didn't order it correctly from her. Not only that, but 2 people's drinks were wrong and/or missing ingredients/mixes. Also, ordered some shots (simple drinks) for our party's b'day and that took 20 minutes, the bartenders were farting around behind the bar, obviously not making our shots. Overall, disappointed. My friends and I have been looking forward to going to the Loose Wheel Tacoma, but now we will never go back for fear of wasting our time and money on slow, unprofessional service. If you don't mind waiting and spending a lot of time at a bar, go here. Very unpleasant experience compared to newer Loose Wheel in Puyallup. Come on management, step up your game and manage this place.

  • Jeremy W.

The service here was the worst I've ever experienced! No one came by our table to take our order, we ordered the shrimp platter (coconut) and a 16 oz. rib steak and everything was cold when it finally came to our table even our soup was cold! My steak was supposed to be medium rare and arrived well done but cold?! The servers were extremely unfriendly and to top it all off they still charged me for my steak! Sixteen bucks! What a waste of money! Oh yeah, they weren't even busy and they had at least ten girls working the floor and they were rude about even having to take our order! Don't bother going there!

  • Ssixty F.

huge burger, not a lot of flavor, but it got the job done for sure. deep fried pickles, yum!! I liked the ambiance with plenty of tv's an a pull tab wall bigger than i've ever seen. our waitress was very attentive, and of course good beer. would do it again. tried the chicken wings finally and they were so good I'm gonna go back to try again tonight.

I've been here a few times with friends for drinks and decided to call in an order for luch at the office. We ordered three burgers and I said I would be there in 20 minutes to pick up. So it was my surprise in finding that the order hadn't been put in by the waitress, the cook pushed my food through, and we ended up getting raw burgers. Now I didn't specifically say that I wanted well done, but don't most places cook their burgers to a little pink in the middle? My burger was raw and I didn't even get a "sorry" for not having my order put in when I called. I had high hopes since this place is so close to my home - but I don't think so.........

I been attempting to try this place since it opened and finally made it on Taco Thursday. Parking lot is always full so I figured it must be good. The food was well portioned and reasonably priced. Taco Salad was huge although it would have helped if they drained the fat off the ground beef. Atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. My only complaint was the service. Although waitress was friendly, we rarely saw her and she didn't quite get order right. Friend ended up eating his tots even though he ordered fries because waitress was MIA. The place was full so I get it if she was busy, but she was not serving anyone. We were ready to check out with debit card on table for a good 15 minutes. She did finally reappear and take care of it. I would try them again because food was decent and see if it was just an off waitress.

I love the loose wheel! My friend angie told me about it and finally one night I just took myself there. My first item was the small cheeseburger and a blue moon. So satisfying and even more so was the bill...under ten and I had leftovers! Since then its become a fav of ours! Had the big one a couple times but the best was prime rib on saturdays!! Great place for games and just hanging out!

    (5)
  • Aaron S.

great spot to hang out and watch the game or even just kick it with friends. They have great bar/grill food and solid drinks. I love having the choice of fries or tots! They have lots of tvs, a couple pool tables, air hockey and dart boards.

  • Ruthie L.

This place was awful. The first thing I ordered (shrimp salad) had hair in it. The second thing I ordered (Hawaiian Burger) was totally inedible, and they still tried to charge us for it. They argued saying that if it wasn't raw inside, we shouldn't have sent it back. They tried to intimidate us and make us feel horrible. I wanted to like this place. The wings we ordered were overfried and untasty, the deep fried oreos were coated in a salty batter that was not tasty either. I came here to watch a game that was important to me and I left before the game was done because they made us feel so uncomfortable. I'm not in the habit of returning food, but it was just disgusting. We asked for a manager and we were told there was none on staff. Our waitress told us that if we didn't pay for the inedible food it would come out of her pocket. Another waitress came to try to tell us that we couldn't "send everything back." I will never go back here, ever. This is one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had.

What a great place!! The atmosphere is wonderful. The layout is nice and open with many TVs. There's a large outdoor area for smokers with picnic tables and umbrellas as well. But lets get to the good stuff: THE FOOD! For one, the fries and the tater tots are always cooked to perfection, and fill up a whole plate leaving barely any room for the BOWL of whatever dipping sauce you would like, and you have a choice of different types of fries. Their menu is quite extensive, with so many different things to choose from. Among the many burgers to choose from, my boyfriend loves the HOLY GUACAMOLE BURGER, and the BIG ONE which consists of 2 half pound patties, ham, bacon, cheddar and provolone cheese, and two runny eggs for only 10 bucks! If \you're trying to eat healthy, no problem! They also have a great selection of salads, and wraps. If you want something that's not on the menu, they will be happy to make it for you. They have a wonderful Asian chicken salad that's not on the menu that one must try! If you feel adventurous, try their fried snicker bars and oreo cookies!! Just go check it out! You will not be disappointed! This place puts love into their food, and one of the owners, Sean, likes to come around and mingle with the customers, making sure your food is great!! FINALLY A GREAT BAR IN TACOMA!! I am more than happy to give this place 5 stars! DON'T forget to try their french dip which blows others out of the "au jus" haha.!!

Went on a Tuesday, not really busy. I didn't receive a single item I ordered, they were all wrong. Got a different burger, different fries, I think the beer may have been the one I ordered? Lots of luck if you decide to eat there, don't bother with a menu, just tell them to bring what they feel like; that's what they seem to do anyway.

My wife and I have been to the Loose Wheel a few times and I have to admit the food is good and plentiful. Unfortunately the service gets worse each time. Our last visit will be our last visit. We felt as though we were invisible having been at a table for 15 minutes without so much as a nod from the waitress. We left and shall not return. We went a couple blocks down the street to the Cloverleaf for a excellent pizza and service. In fact there are a lot of good restaurants in the area. The Loose Wheel should keep that in mind.

i frequent this place often. the food is outstanding. lots of beer selections, friendly wait staff. has its own pulltab bar, pool tables, air hockey, nice little outdoor area. monday night meatloaf is my favorite ; the various hamburgers are delicious! Great place for groups and sports enthusiasts

I really like this place. The servers are very friendly, although not all of them are as knowledgeable about the beer selection as I would like. The owner or manager, i am not sure which position he is, is AWESOME!! I've worked in customer service & food service & it is nice to see someone take pride in what they do. He also takes care of business if there is even a hint of rowdiness from a customer that has maybe had one too many & feeling feisty. I highly recommend the food here. The portions are enormous & the wait is not usually that bad. I love the Turkey, Bacon, Havarti sandwich. I can't eat more than half, & I'm not a small eater. There are plenty of options to choose from. The wings are also FANTASTIC. They are bigger than any wings I've ever gotten at a restaurant & cooked quite nicely. The atmosphere is fun & I enjoy that they are always playing multiple sports. Plus...where else can you find a Foosball table? My one complaint is that it can get pretty noisy, which makes visiting w/ friends over a drink & food hard, but it's a popular place. I would say, try this one out!

There are three parts to Sixth Avenue in Tacoma, as I see it. At the base, near the water front, Sixth Ave has a nostalgic feel. It feels community centered with Victorian, Tudor, and Craftsman style houses, wide roads and rows of trees. As you move towards the Narrows bridge, you approach the walk-able part of Sixth that has a cluster of great restaurants, dessert and coffee shops, tattoo shops, and more. The closer you get to Narrows, right after Tacoma Boys, well...let's just say Sixth is different. More fast food oriented..yeah, that's what I'll go with. So, as I approached the Loose Wheel I started to wonder if the friend who recommended the place was actually my friend. I am happy to report that he, in fact, is my friend. The spot is spacious, the activities, menu, and people are as diverse as Tacoma. You can play darts, pool, video games, and such on one side and bar tables on the other. Our server was attentive and our food was good in terms of bar standards. We shared a blue cheese burger that was greasy goodness. We also had wings with raspberry chipotle sauce. Though the wings had a bit too much sauce, it was still tasty. The drinks were also pretty good and the bill was awesome! The absolute best part of this place is the people watching. People of every age and color! Black folks singing country, men singing songs sung by women, white folks rapping, and me tapping my feet, with the occasional air guitar...ahh Tacoma!

The food and service were really good, it's a nice laid back, casual, kick up your feet and take the stress off of your shoulders kind of place. Our server was fantastic, he was on top of everything and stayed strong from the beginning to the end of our visit. We will be sitting in his section every time he's available... I'm really happy that we tried this place, I'm looking forward to trying more dishes from here...

The Loose Wheel is a pretty great sports bar. They have a wide selection of menu items - the sandwiches are on point, the burgers are average and breakfast is not recommended. Great appy options and drink choices. Service is never lacking. If you're looking to watch a game, have really decent bar grub, and some beers this is the ideal place to go. Four stars for being what it is - a sports bar. Don't expect more.

We just had 2 of the best burgers ever! My husband got the mushroom burger and I had the bacon blue cheese and both were outstanding, we upgraded our sides to the sweet potato fries that are a thicker cut and so tasty. We also got the fried green beans. Yum! Plus the beer is ice cold. Service is great.

I have very mixed feelings about LW. I LOVE the food. They have the best homemade chips and club sandwich I have ever had. I love their chip sauce. My HUGE problem is the last 2 times I went, my husband and I got food poisoning. The first time, we both came home and within 10 minutes we were running for the bathroom. We love the food so much, we gave it another go for our fantasy football draft. I threw up the moment I got home. My husband started puking in the middle of the night for 3 hrs. Another person we went with had it out the other direction. So, even though we love the place, we are not going back. No club sandwich is worth barfing for. Eat at your own risk

The wife and I have been here so many times we've lost count. Lets just say with their rewards card you get a $50 gift certificate when you spend $1000. We're working on our 4th $50. I love spicy. It's nuts what some people call spicy cause it usually isn't spicy. Try their "Stupid Hot" chicken wings (I get them boneless) made with ghost peppers they truly are spicy, It's hard to breath when they are put on the table. My wife likes the Sweet and Spicy ones. Some favorites are Chicken and Joe's, any hamburger (Tuesday is buy one burger get one free), and the taco salad. I would shy away from the Pizza however. It reminds me of something from a school cafeteria. The fish and chips are hit and miss.

Simply the best blue cheese dressing you will ever taste. The 1pound bacon burger is terrific. My go to when burgers are my craving.

Perfect place for large groups. I've come here with a girlfriend for dinner, with a group for Wing Night, and with ALL of my man's friends for his birthday, and in any situation we have a good time here. (For his birthday, we had 15+ people, and were able to sit at the same table at 9pm on Saturday, no reservation. Miraculous.) Wing Night is awesome -- Wednesday night, 50c each. Single girls, check it out! Back in the day we would be approached quite often for a Wednesday. :) Haha. The rest of their menu is extensive, but a bit too salty overall imo. Karaoke, pool, darts, 23 beers on tap? No wonder the parking lot is always full!! (We park right across the street in the grocery store lot.)

What happened to this place? The service has ALWAYS been lacking so you almost expect it. We went today for breakfast / lunch and after 15 minutes of being ignored, I was able to flag down a waitress. I ordered a French Dip and it was the most unremarkable sandwich I've ever had. Little effort was made to make it good. The bread was not toasted, the meat was tasteless, and the overall quality was low. Combine poor service with weak food, and I'll never go back. It's really too bad as it used to be a great place to eat and watch a game. They need a new kitchen and staff manager who will whip this place back to shape. It's apparent by both my experience as well as other recent reviews that this place isn't worthy of your time / money. Beware.

Definitely don't go there for the food. And the drinks are good but that's it. The service is great. Atmosphere is great. it's great to go with friends to have some drinks. Bar food is okay, but I wouldn't go there to have an actual meal.

This has been the SECOND time I have come in with my Mom and some friends and we never get waited on! We were just there on Friday and sat at a table for 20 min before we finally walked out after never getting any service! Waitresses were walking all around us and not a thing!!! HORRIBLE PLACE!!

Great place to come and have a beer and watch the game. Would also recommend for a quick pop in for lunch. Good selection of beer on tap, friendly staff, never been neglected or made to wait for beer (unless it's packed and even then I've always been acknowledged and said they would be with me in a second) Darts/pool/basketball/beerpong. Love it

Great local place. We stopped while traveling & it was a great experience. Our waitress was extremely friendly & treated us like regulars. The hot wings were very good, as was the chicken with jojos. The gizzards were a bit peppery, but still good. Would definitely go back.

Atmosphere was great. Unfortunately the staff failed to attempt to notice our party even after waiting an entire hour. Cannot rate the food(which is the main reason we came) due to the fact WE DIDNT GET ANY SERVICE!!! but I'm all honesty we will probably give it another shot in the future. But not anytime soon.

A + + + +!!! Me and the homie were looking for a new place to go to in Tacoma and we stumbled upon Loose Wheel. This place right here tho is the TRUTH!!! Burger bomb, fried bomb, tater tots bomb and their wings although on the smaller side are bomb too. This is my new spot tho definitely will be back on a consistent basis. Atmosphere is bar like pool tables and other games. DOPE SAUCE!!!

Perhaps I got spoiled at the Loose Wheel in Puyallup? This is the first time I visited the Loose Wheel in Tacoma and it was ok overall but the service and quality of F&B had lowered the star rating one more notch for me. The company I brought with me were fun and made the experience awesome. But the service seemed to be a bit on the angry side? The waitress seemed stressed and angry so we tried to be as nice as we could. The girls in our group were getting upset at the situation since she has a bad attitude and the service itself was lacking because of it. Us guys just brushed it off. The first drinks we ordered were good and then the second round was pretty terrible. Not sure what happened between rounds? We all tried each others drinks because it seemed that the second round was bad for everyone? Really didn't understand it. The food: I ordered boneless wings and they were pretty terrible. The sauce was yummy and the dip was a standard ranch. But the chicken was surprisingly odd. I couldn't make out what part of the chicken that was and why it was so jerky? I was pretty disappointed. The layout and space was good and the theme of the place, I enjoyed. but I am definitely not a fan of this location.

Usually like the place. Normally have a good time. Had a girls night and showed up 1:20am for last call because the rep is late last call (that why we come here last). Anyway SAM decided she was done serving at 1:20. Threw a fit and proceeded to serve other people. We weren't rude, we never said anything, we weren't drunk or belligerent. 1 person kills it for everyone. Thanks Sam.

Lunches and dinners are awesome, but DON'T do breakfast here. They don't have a very good selection and the service was the worst that I have ever experienced. My husband and I were both obviously finished with our meal (plates shoved aside) and empty glasses on the edge of the table. After that, we probably waited 20 minutes for our waitress to bring us our bill.

I've been coming here most of the football season and the staff doesn't seem to care much. The drinks and food are average at best but the service is terrible. The servers are too concerned with hanging out with their friends than serving. They over serve people like crazy and people get out of control. I suspect this place will go further down hill over the next few years.

This is always our go-to bar! Whether for a hawks game, late night date, or for their awesome Saturday night steak dinner special we love it here. Daily food and drink specials and the food is always awesome. Friendly staff for the most part and always a good vibe. Pool table, games, juke box, pull tabs, plenty of TVs, and karaoke. Not to mention the karaoke host is awesome!! Best classical version of Baby Got Back I've ever heard!!!

The Loose Wheel was another place I was told to go to by the longtime transplants and natives of Tacoma. The place is a little too sports bar for me but that is ok. The waitress I had was awesome! The Loose Wheel has some good lunch specials. When I was here they had the fish and chips as the special and that is what I got. It was not bad at all. I realize I have to make peace with fish and chips in the Northwest and so far little conflict in these actions are taking place. At one point and time I would turn my nose up to any fish. The fish and chips plate was pretty greasy. A little more than what I have had. I shouldn't be too surprised this is traditionally a greasy dish! What really won me over with Loose Wheel was their beer. Nearly all of their beer they have on tap you can get somewhere else but they do have one that is only exclusive to Loose Wheel. A brewery makes this exclusive beer and sends it directly to the Loose Wheel locations. It is kind of a wheaty amber ale which is quite good! That alone will draw me back to Loose Wheel.

Good atmosphere...but be warned, $7 per shot! Wish we were told the cost before we got a few rounds. Lesson learned.

Nice place. Four of us where there last night. Everyone was happy with the food. Our server was very efficient. I think she would have been more cordial if it were less busy. It was quite loud. One friend had a Guinness which she was happy with. My other friend and I tried the Loose Wheel Amber. We where quite impressed with the taste and body of this microbreweries beer. It is always fun to find these little brewery jewels periodically.

Best burgers in Tacoma! Come on Tuesday - buy a burger, get the 2nd for $2.00! These burgers are huge and oh so good! You can choose from fries or tater tots, but we always pay a little more for the onion rings. Their onion rings are very good here! I haven't really tried much else, but everything else looks and sounds good. The bar is very good sized with a variety of seating. They have some pool tables and a few arcade time games to play. Lots of tv's from plenty of angles - great place to watch a game!

Thought the fish and chips was like something I could cook at home. Preformed fish product. No thanks. Give me big fillet chunks please. Secondly. Parking IS A HUGE ISSUE! There is not enough parking for the patrons. The patrons usually ooze onto Mona's lot, because they suck and have no customers but you risk being towed. What the owners should do is move their bar across the street where that Mexican restaurant used to be. I think it was also a bar after that. There is a HUGE parking lot. The space is as big or bigger than where they are. Not sure what the kitchen is like but it's not like y'all are serving fine dining. I'm sure they have a flat top and fryers. Consider this for your customer parking situation.

Sports bars often rise to the level of neighborhood institution, sometimes even bigger than that. Loose Wheel looks is a place where people pile in from all over to watch the game, and it's also a place where plenty of people come just for the beer or the food. They are rock solid and they give the impression they could easily last another 50 years on their business model--the place gets *mobbed* for big games; they have to pull chairs out of the back and they have to keep paths open through the crowds. What you get is a huge lineup of highboys, tables, and bar areas. There are pulltabs to the left, bar in back with full liquor and two dozen tap handles, pool tables and arcade games to the right, flat screens everywhere, and every time you turn around, it seems like there's another seating area. The place is huge, brightly lit, high ceilings. It makes no bones about what it's here to do. The beer lineup is about half macro industrial beers, 25% training wheel craft beers like Shock Top and Manny's, and 25% approachable craft ales (Sierra Nevada Celebration and Georgetown Lucille were the building blocks for the beer nerd the night I was in). The food lineup is burgers, nachos, tots, jojos, and a bunch of other fried stuff, plus some steaks and salads. The kitchen is doing dependable yeoman's work, though it's all Sysco stuff by and large. It's just down home fill your belly stuff for the sports fan who's having fun watching the game. The burgers, though, looked and smelled damn tasty. They have one burger in the "you finish it in X minutes, it's free" category. Watching people on TV try to finish those things grosses me out, but it always seems to fire up the crowd. Bottom line, firing up the crowd is what makes this place so fun to visit. I will gladly come back here to watch a big game, especially a Hawks game. I hung out here talking to old friends for a couple hours before (and a bit after) a big Hawks win, and after one visit it's already a happy memory. Be back for more Lucille if nothing else.

This place is always full of the older generation. I call it Loose Stools or Loose Hips as a joke. If you are not a regular, which I would never wish that fate on you then expect to be stared down by the elders when you walk in. Well drinks and beer is what you can expect to get. Their food is decent, and they have daily specials. Tuesday buy 1 burger of any kind and get 1 free gotta love that. They often have Karaoke. When I have gone here no one signs up, but the host is a old fool who thinks he is so cool. He often plays old videos and sings a mediocre cover. Parking sucks because the lot is small. Because of location close to home I'll go once in a while after work to meet a friend for a quick drink and food-damn those buy 1 get 1 burgers hard to resist.

Came here for the first time last night. Service was so so, drinks were so so... But then there were the Wings!!!! Best wings I have found in Tacoma. Aside from the wings I found it to be a very average bar. That said I will def be back for wings the raspberry bbq sauce is awesome!

I like the Loose Wheel a lot. All the food I've had there is really good. I love that they have the pit pass. It's a great place to watch sporting events and get together with friends. It's not a great place to have a quiet night out. The parking lot can get crowded, but there is another lot behind the building next door and across the street at Safeway, which for me isn't that big a deal. It's a little loud at times, and unfortunately, a few times I've had really slow services, even when there's hardly anyone there. But it hasn't kept me from going back because most the wait staff is great and like I said, I love the food.

Delicious burgers! Awesome atmosphere! We just stopped in and ordered food to-go at the bar because we were in a hurry, but the service was great. They had a lot of entertainment options like pool tables and dart boards, plus a ton of TVs. Both of our burgers (mine was a turkey burger) were huge and we were able to get a second meal out of them! I definitely recommend the sweet potato fries :)

I like Puyallup Loose Wheel waaaaaaaay better! But this was closer. We went for breakfast. It's small inside...half the size of Puyallup, easily! Same fake tan, dark hair, not very friendly server types as in Puyallup. Must be a requirement to work there. If only I wasn't tan all year...darn! Anyway... breakfast. We both had omelettes. She didn't eat all of her food, so I'm not sure if she liked it... lol I ate everything because I'm fat like that. The food was not seasoned. So I smothered everything in ketchup. I will say that the condiment caddy impressed me, because the ketchup was cold. :) I liked that! The service is just as bad as in Puyallup... When I ordered, she asked what kind of bread I wanted. I asked what kind they had. "Pretty much everything..." WOW! Really? Talk about lazy!! She's lucky I was too tired to sass her and attempt to order weird ass bread that restaurants don't normally carry. -_- We also did not get drink refills, as we were never offered them... She also forgot my girl's sour cream and did not offer us jelly for our toast that she didn't want to list... I think it's funny that somehow the stars above this text box slowly dropped from 3 to 1 as I was typing. My sensitive touch pad must be reading my mind. It's back up to 2 and now 3. I reckon it shall stay...3 stars from Tacoma's Loose Wheel. I won't be returning. What's up with having Wyder's Cider?? Puyallup had Angry Orchard... just sayin... Wasn't impressed!! Blah... after thinking and re-reading my review I had to drop it to 2.
