Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before! We only recently discovered Pacific Grill after living here for a little over two years now. It's a great spot! We have come here after seeing a show at Pantages or Tacoma Comedy Club as well as just stopping by for happy hour. Their happy hour really is great. Half off everything on the HH menu (which is decent in size). I stayed away from the grilled cheese because so often restaurants put wayyyy to much cheese. However I finally tried it this last time and I wish I hadn't waited so long. They use a good sourdough bread and are not heavy handed with the cheese so it's a good balance. I added tomato and avocado...so, so good! Their fries are also amazing! I really appreciate the amount of vegetarian food they offer. The cauliflower steak is amazing (I don't think it's on HH though). But so worth it! They also have a nice bar selection and a good amount of non-alcoholic options too (beyond soda I mean). They made me this really great drink, ginger and sparkling lemonade... Something like that. Would definitely recommend giving them a try!

After spending the day at Mount Rainier and with only a couple of hours before my flight home, my dining options appeared limited. I had never been to Tacoma before (despite growing up in Washington for 11ish years), so I decided to check out what it had in store. Lucky me -- Pacific Grill was the first place to pop up, and it was a solid choice. Our waiter was fantastic, anticipating my questions about where and from whom they sourced their seafood from (Do I look like a sustainable fisheries enthusiast? If so, good...that's what I was going for.) and speaking what little Mandarin he knew to my parents. I had their salmon, which was fished up in Neah Bay by a father-and-son fishery (great story!), and was quite good. I paired it with a Fish Tale "Organic Amber" (because when in...Tacoma?), which was solid as well. The rest of my family loved their dishes as well (all different seafood platters). The prices are decently high, but for the good atmosphere, great service, and fantastic food, it was well worth. Happy hour seems to be awesome here; wish I could've partook. Definitely a place I would come back to if I'm in the area again. (Though I did nearly miss my flight, but I don't think that was the restaurant's fault as much as it was I-5's.)

I've only been here for Happy Hour but wow, was this place good. Atmosphere is spot on and the food was outstanding. I ordered the Arancini and was a bit scared... I've had that at so many places and often it's just not good. But here, it was absolutely perfect. Service was excellent as well. Just the right amount of attentive without being annoying. All in all I'm looking forward to becoming a regular here.

Three years later and they are still one of the best happy hour spots in town. On my latest visit, I was part of a large group and the staff couldn't have been nicer of more accommodating trying to move us from the bar to a large table. Impressive since this place was packed on a Saturday night. They even kept our bills separate and organized during the transition. As I mentioned in my original review, the all night happy hour is a fantastic deal. Such a refreshing change to dine at a normal hour on the weekend and choose reasonable priced food and drink items. All of us ate and drank well that night for approx. $20 a person. Favorite items this time around were: ** Meat Candy ** Tacos of the Day -- in our case an Asian fusion delight ** Rock 'n Roca Brownie Sundae (I was obsessed with Almond Roca as a kid, so there was no way I was passing this up!) Definitely one of my favorite spots in downtown Tacoma.

I had fish and chips and the Seafood Sliders. My friends and I shared the Seafood Cocktail and dozen oysters on a half shell. The food was FIVE STARS the service 4, hens the 4 star. I will definitely revisit when ever I'm back in town.

While the food was great, the service really shined. I was here on a Wednesday with a group and there was all day Happy Hour in the bar area, but it was a small space with only a couple of larger tables. Their practice is to waitlist a table to make sure that if you are waiting for a table to open that your group will get it. Our host was very accommodating to us while we sat in pairs and waited for a larger table to open up and we saw her intervene when someone almost sat a new group at our table. Thank you for making sure our dining experience was more enjoyable! Happy hour is half off a large portion of the menu and discounts on drafts, bottles, wine and wells. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, but I can really only speak to the beef sliders and fries. These sliders had that great charred grilled flavor that sometimes you find missing, despite having smelled it from the street. The shoestring fries were crispy and came with roasted garlic, rosemary and sage. You could essentially eat the garlic and herbs along with the fries, and they were great companion to the sliders. I had to order extra sliders though, because those little darlings were special! The atmosphere is a bit traditional and a bit upscale. It's a bit dark unless seated in the window. Overall, it seemed nice, clean and mellow. I would maybe dock a half star on due to the $12 cocktail I ordered but didn't really enjoy. However, I was just ordering something new and sometimes that doesn't pan out. It was called the Millionaire I think. I believe it included whiskey, grand marnier and egg white, but the fizz was barely there and the taste was a bit of watered-down cinnamon. It was strong though, so not a complete waste! I would just try something different next time. Yes, I would totally return here.

I had a very good steak salad -- the steak was perfectly done. My wife had the grilled cheese (again), and this time I took a bite to see why she liked it so much. Now I know. It was great. I also had a really good bowl of corn chowder. The service was spot on and the atmosphere is very nice.

My boyfriend & I came to this restaurant b/c another place we had wanted to go was close. The receptionist was ignoring us and pretending like she couldn't see us when we were waiting for her to stop looking down. We than had to ask her for a table & she finally look up & said in an unfriendly tone that they were fully booked but we can check the bar for an open table. We found an open table in the bar & a server ask to see our ID. However, I had forgotten my ID so I couldn't seat at the bar. The Waiter immediately guide us to a regular table. As I look around, I saw that there were lots of empty seats. That receptionist was the only thing unpleasant as everyone else working there was really nice. The FOOD was really good also. I'm really happy that I had forgotten my ID b/c the bar menu is different from the regular menu. Also by the end of our meal, there were even more empty tables.

I come here solely for happy hour. I'm sure their regular menu items are great too, but it is pricey and I am ballin' on a budget. BUT as far as happy hour goes, this place is doing it right. But I don't need to tell you that- it won "Best Happy Hour in Western Washington". Part of it is the fact they offer happy hour nearly all day, every day (who else does that??). Don't get me wrong, however, the food is great too! The menu is huge so you shouldn't have any difficulty finding something that appeals to you. I enjoy the banh mi, shoestring fries (with herbs and *whole* garlic cloves!) and, most of all, their oyster shooters! Those things are amazing. Even if you aren't a fan of oysters, I dare you to try one. I've never seen another restaurant do them like PG! I can't close this review without mentioning the atmosphere of the place. Super classy, calm and relaxing. Definitely a great spot to go with your significant other, or to take someone out on a date to!

I my opinion this is a good restaurant with good service. My wife and I have eaten here a few times and have enjoyed it each time. We recently had dinner here on Valentines Day and again it was really good as was the service. It was very busy, but everything went smoothly. My wife had their "Broken Lasagna" and I had a filet. Both were excellent and my steak was as good as any of the legacy steak restaurants in the greater Seattle/Tacoma area. The sides were well prepared although the au gratin potatoes I had were not that great in my opinion. The green beans were wonderful however. Drinks were very good and the waiter was excellent even though he was very busy on this particular evening. All in all a very nice meal in a very busy restaurant (and noisy) and we will gladly return in the future.

I've only been here twice and both times were on Valentine's Day. The food is nothing less but excellent, the ambiance makes it a very romantic evening, and the staff was incredible, especially the wait staff. My date and I both felt that our waiter must have rehearsed his lines and actions over and over again, because he was flawless. In my books, this is the place to go if you are planing something romantic and wanted to make sure the night was perfect. This place would be it.

This place is fabulous! I worked in Tacoma on a contract job for 4 months. During that time, I stayed in Downtown Tacoma at the Courtyard which is located in the building above Pacific Grill. I guess I had been there several weeks before I finally made it down to the restaurant with some coworkers. It was soooo good! I had a pot roast which was AMAZING! The sad thing is the frequently change their menu so the next time I went they no longer had it. I can't remember what I ate there after that, not that it wasn't all memorable its just that the pot roast was so amazing and really hit the spot when it was so cold and raining outside. The other thing they have that is to die for is the Almond Roca Blondie with Vanilla Ice Cream. So good! We shared it for desert everytime we went there! If you are in Tacoma or you are fortunate to live in beautiful Washington, make sure you try the Pacific Grill, you will not be disappointed!

This place was amazing. We had the happy hour soup special with all the fixings. It came out quickly and was extremely tasty. Pricing was reasonable for what I expected from the restaurant. The interior was spacious and very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Wine selection was great and the drinks were strong.

Loved the Pacific Grill. Our Wait staff was great! We went to celebrate my moms new job and were all so happy! The food was great. We tried a bunch of the appetizers and drinks, everything was super yummy. Our waitress made super suggestions and we just really enjoyed the full experience. Loved that it was airy and beautiful inside with great high ceilings, and wasn't crazy loud! Totally would eat here again soon! We stuck with steaks, seafood and appetizers all of which I would eat again!

  • Gwen N.

Excellent service and fresh tasty food. Pricing was the high end of moderate. I would return. The menu was not focused on in season and local, but did deliver a good selection of fresh seafood and well prepared rices dishes.

For Tacoma the drinks are expensive and that was during happy hour. Doubt I will return.

The restaurant is nicely decorated. Minimal elegance is my best description of the place. I had dinner here. The fish was fresh and made simply so the delicate flavors of the fish comes through. The roasted corn is soooo yummy and a must have side dish. If you're celebrating a birthday, dessert is free! I love complimentary food. I must come back for happy hour.

All I can say is "WOW"! Most especially the Bar-B-Qued Oysters- Unfortunately I couldn't kiss the chef, but I would have over these fantastic pieces of heaven on a shell! We went for happy hour and I couldn't have been happier with this place!

My wife and I both ordered the australian lobster tail, an appetizer and a bottle of wine. For starters, the waitress had no information about any of the wines and had to go ask the bartender. About ten minutes later she came back and made a recommendation. The wine turned out to be very nice. The appetizer was good and a nice portion. When the lobster tails arrived I took a couple of bites and thought that it tasted wrong. My wife had taken several bites of hers and liked it so I had her try mine to see if I was way off base. My wife agreed that mine tasted undercooked, very fishy and just generally gross. The waitress asked how things were and I explained that I didn't like it and must have got a bad lobster. She quickly offered to get me another lobster or something else. The residual taste of the lobster was enough that I opted for a steak instead. Several minutes later the waitress came back and said that the chef and the manager both "inspected" my lobster and felt that it was perfectly fine. They would not charge me for the steak but were going to charge for the lobster. I at first didn't care as I just wanted to get some food on the table but it later really bugged me that they in fact were saying that my taste buds were wrong and that was that. My steak finally came out after my wife had completed her entire meal (she is not a fast eater by any stretch). My steak was good but not overly impressive. The asparagus was very good, but that did not fix the poor lobster and worse, the very bad response to the poor food. If the chef really felt that I was the problem then he should have come out and asked some questions to see what I felt the problem was. I do not send food back and I have had quite a fair amount of lobster. The waitress was trying to be helpful but obviously had no real idea what to do. I would not return to this restaurant as there are several other choices nearby that are far superior in every way. Be cautious of the other good reviews in that most all of them say that they were there for Happy Hour only!

I got sick off the happy hour oyster shooter and my friend's miso-based udon soup was lacking the miso. And what was that?! No local beers on tap?! 40% off happy hour? Stop being cheap and give us the extra 10% like normal places.

Great steak. Decent location. Good dessert. Try the broccolini.

One local brew on tap and they were out! Oysters were questionable and the beautful piece of salmon i had was overcooked......

This place has - hands down - THE best Happy Hour in the region! Excellent drink selection, great service and delicious, extremely reasonable food choices. Try the Meat Candy...I know it sounds weird but it is truly addicting dates, cheese, and bacon! YUM! Everything on the menu is excellent and their Happy Hour "hours" are crazy good! Check out their website if you need further convincing. Well worth your time and money on a trip to T-town. Place gets busy around 6:00 p.m. so plan on getting there before the dinner rush or later in the evening as their Happy Hour goes until 10 on weeknights and 11 p.m. on weekends....how awesome is that?

Totally Pleasant Surprise!! I needed a seafood place to take some out of town visitors. Checked Yelp and decided to give this place a try. Should I also mention that I hate Tacoma and think there is nothing good here and am counting the days 'til my escape? Anyway, Pacific Grill is like an oasis in the desert. The atmosphere is lovely and for a moment I forgot I was in Tacoma! Our waiter was great and the food was fabulous. We were a party of 5 and everyone enjoyed their food immensely. The only complaint in our group was with regard to the size of his portion (mind you, this is the same man complaining about his double chin). I will definitely be returning and will surely take friends and family to this phenomenal gem in downtown Tacoma!

Happy Hour at the bar, all day, every day! One of the best Dirty martinis I've had in Tacoma so far. I had ¡El Chingón Cóctel de Mariscos! ...Its basically a ceviche in a tomato base as opposed to the traditional lime base. It was chock full of seafood and was only $6! Great decor, reminded me of a high end steak house without the stuffiness.

HH ALL day. The food was pretty good and a decent price. I ordered fried osyters- for about 5-6$ you get 6 big pieces and it comes w/ fries. Tried the wings- i've had better. We ordered the roasted dates since a lot of yelpers raved about it. It has the sweetness and the saltiness effect. If it was in front of me i'd eat it- but i wouldn't order it. The mac&cheese was extremely rich- that's a dish i'd definitely share. The mussels and fries were really good as well. I'd come again and again. Like i said HH all day!!

I tried to take 15 employees and their spouses here for dinner to celebrate a record month of sales. Was unable to get adequate help to feel comfortable with taking 30 people to dinner at a restaurant that I have not tried before...Went to Daniels. Tried to give them another chance. Took the wife here after a trade show at the T Dome and was told that it would be 20 minutes before we could be seated. Went to the bar (miserable seating arrangement and VERY cold) where we were promptly ignored. Walked through the dining room where I counted over 25 available tables. That irritated me and I decided to leave. I let the wait staff know why we were leaving. We drove up the hill to Stanley and Seaforts where we were seated immediately, served professionally and treated like our business was appreciated.....imagine that. I will not return.

I've spent the past 3 years visiting any and every restaurant around Tacoma that I've heard anything good about. Hands down, Pacific Grill is the best and my favorite. I adore PG and wish I were wealthy enough to eat 3 meals a day there. They have never disappointed and create wonderful dishes. My favorite is the Tuna Tartar and the seasonal Lamb Tartar. The owner is very interactive and will respond via email if you leave a review card provided at the table. The atmosphere in the evening is very relaxing and seducing.

This place has a really unique menu and really clean, modern look. Their happy hour specials are awesome, and I think they get a lot of business that way. I tried their grilled cheese with gruyere, and it was WAY too salty for me. I almost couldn't eat it. Their french fries are sprinkled with sea salt and herbs and roasted with garlic- really great! And the waitress didn't treat me like a little kid when I forsook the wine list to just order a Pepsi. :) I'd try it again, but be careful when ordering cheese. The place is very nice, but you're welcomed in jeans, sweats, anything. It'd be a good place to go after seeing the museums (keep your car parked in those precious spaces!)

I've been to Pacific Grill several times and previously gave it 3 stars. My most recent experience with this restaurant is forcing me to deduct 2 stars and also make my last visit there the LAST in every sense of the word. I decided to have a small dinner party to celebrate my separation from the military and thought it would be nice to have it at a nice restaurant in Tacoma. I did some hunting for a restaurant that would be convenient for large groups. Someone once said the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over and expect different results. Well, call me insane then, because although I had previously dined at PG for my anniversary and birthday and had a mediocre experience, I chose this place again. The events coordinator and I conducted our correspondence exclusively through email and, as someone who has been held to pretty strict business email etiquette, I found her emails to be completely lacking of any people interaction skills, and sometimes almost rude. The wait staff was unfriendly, which shouldn't be a surprise, since I have never had a friendly waitress once in all the times I've dined at PG. In fact, my friend actually asked the waitress if she had had a bad day, she was so unfriendly. The food was a huge disappointment, one of my guests ordered potatoes au gratin, which were completely undercooked and tasted odd. My husband mentioned to me that his filet mignon was overly salty. I had invited 12 people, which barred me from making a reservation in the dining room, which is limited to parties of 9 or less. The private dining room seats up to 30, and the bill must come to at least $500. The bill for my guests ended up coming up just short of $500, but we all paid separately, so I didn't find this out until I received the invoice a couple days later. Apparently the penalty for being $70 short of $500 is $165. Added to the $100 room charge and the $150 deposit, I am still owing this place $76. The math still doesn't make sense to me. What I AM seeing clearly FINALLY however, is that I am never eating at this place again. Bad service and overpriced mediocre food are one thing I guess, but I draw the line at exorbitant surprise charges.

What a find! I'll start with the bad. The host had a problem with us not having a reservation and spent almost 5 minutes taking phone calls and essentially ignoring us. Also, it seemed like the restaurant was short staffed, even though our waiter told us that they were expecting a party of 25. The ambiance was spectacular, and the food was absolutely superb. Our appetizer was an impressive Okonomiyaki, a Japanese street food. The presentation was outstanding and the flavors really complemented each other. The grilled albacore, king salmon, and duck confit were cooked perfectly. The side dishes (garlic mashed potatoes and wild rice) really complemented the entrees. The dessert (bittersweet chocolate tart) was rich, delicious, and beautiful. I'd recommend that you make a reservation before going, but overall, we had a wonderful experience. I'd definitely come back here the next time that I'm in Tacoma.

I've been here before for lunch and always found it to be good and the service comparable to the food. Kept reading about how wonderful the happy hour is so a friend and I decided to stop in and give it a try. We did score a nice table by the window and the menu had several items that sounded wonderful, however, the rest of the evening didn't measure up to the beginning. Our server, while nice, was very inattentive and we finally had to flag her down to get started at least 15 minutes after sitting down. My friend ordered a sandwich that she had previously had before and said there was no comparison, very little meat and not much taste. I also ordered a sandwich and we decided we'd have romaine salads as well and asked for the dressing on the side. We got the sandwiches, we got the dressing on the side, but we never got the salad to go with it. When we were finally able to flag down the server, her comment was, I wondered why you wanted dressing on the side with no salad. Gee, do you think she might have asked? then when we asked for separate checks, mind you there were only two of us, she got everything on the wrong checks. When it was mentioned, she did offer us a card for a free dessert on our next visit. So will we go back, not for a while. too many other places to try to worry about a place with poor service and food that had the appearance of the cook not caring.

for appetizers, we had the smoked salmon w/caviar on top of a baked potato. didn't care for the potato part but the salmon w/caviar was so tasty. we also had the tuna tartare. now that was just a mouth full of flavorful goodness! for our entrees, M had the lamb shanks and I had the duck breast. lamb was tender and falling off the bone. yum! i esp liked the brussel sprouts w/my duck breast...never had em before but they complimented the duck well. but what made this first time visit memorable was the desserts! we had the sticky toffee bread pudding, creamy caramel creme brule, and affogato. i didn't know which one i liked the best...i just kept eating all three one after the other! couldn't finish of course but man, i was in dessert heaven! the creme brulee was the best we had thus far (and we've sampled many..we tend to rate restaurants on their creme brulee), bread pudding was awesome...the best i ever had, and the affogato brought back memories of college days at the U when i use to visit the MIX and got my fave: the jet city buzz. i LOVE ice cream w/shots of espresso. the best ever pick me up! i can't wait to come back and try out the happy hour and/or splurge on their desserts again! YUM!!!!

Meat Candy and Orgenzola tator tots rock! My wife loved their tuna too. Happy hour menu can't be beat; including prices. I would give a thumbs up to the atmosphere and the long bar. Table seating in the bar area is a bit tight so I don't choose to sit there. If there is no room at the bar, I will be moving on. Wine can be expensive at $12/glass.

The Pacific Grill sits in a wonderful location and has a great atmosphere. I had a Guiness and an order of the BBQ Oysters, which were great. It was tasty, served on a bed of rock salt and various spices. The drawback, however, was that there was nothing with it: no bread, fries, chips, or anything with it. It wasn't a half-hour later that I was hungry again.

I was really pleased with myself for tyring something new this weekend! We have our "usual" spots and don't often veer from those - I read lots of good things about the HH so that landed us here. The bar was packed at 5 and service was a little slow - there are some really good choices and prices for HH food. BF had the wings (huge and crispy on the outside - but not quite done down to the bone...) I had a great salad with fresh blue cheese and chunks of bacon and some little goat cheese and salami baquettes and we took a Cuban Sandwich and Fries home. My Salad and the Fries were top notch but everything else was OK.

I went there last night with a close friend for a nice meal out sans kiddos. It didn't disappoint! While the only vegetarian option was to either have the pasta without the prawns it came with or combine 3 sides into a main course, the latter was delicious. The veggies were really tasty (although a bit too oily for my taste). I'd definitely go back again, but next time, order a smaller entree so I have room for dessert! If there were real options for vegetarians, I'd give this place 5 stars, but it didn't.

I went in for happy hour - tried the marinated olives and almonds, as well as the melted tomato cheese toasts. Pretty good for the price. As well as the glass of white wine for happy hour $6. It was very mellow. Maybe a little too mellow. I'll probably go back for happy hour again and try some "real" food.

I had two fantastic lunches here. Very nice setting in downtown Tacoma. The BEST Cobb salad I have ever had. It's a fancy cobb with thick cut bacon and a really good avocado ranch dressing. Nice decor. Very quick, friendly service.

Mmm, I love me some Pacific Grill! I really believe that chef-owned restraurants are the key to a great dining experience, and chef-owner Gordon Naccarato has delivered. Dinner is perfect. Perfect food, perfect service, perfect atmosphere. That pretty much sums it up. Don't miss the "Tuscan-style" steaks, daily seafood specials, and my favorite, the steak salad. Don't have the cash to drop on a hundred-plus dollar dinner? Hit up the late-night happy hour, where awesome bar food (Meat candy? Yes, please!) goes for under five bucks, and drink specials keep your glass full all night.

Great all around restaurant. Nice atmosphere and everything on the menu we have tried ranges from good to excellent. For a fine dining experience it is definitely the best option in the south sound.

I know there a lot of really good reviews but I would not go back to Pacific Grill. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic but the portions and prices were ridiculous. EVEN for happy hour. We started out with the meat candy. I was very excited for these because my husband started making these a couple years back and are a huge hit at parties. Regular price they are $8. You get 5 dates. Yes that's right.....5. Well actually they are cut in half so you actually get 2 1/2 dates. There were 3 of us so we couldn't even all have two each. A tub of dates at the store is about $8, cheese to stuff them is maybe $5 and the bacon is $5. This makes over two dozen meat candy. We also started out with the duck sausage sliders. I get these are more of a specialty being duck sausage and can be a little pricey. They were delicious but everywhere in America where you order sliders you get 3. Here for $15 you get 2. We then tried the blue cheese tater tots. Once again they were delicious but we got a plate with 6 tater tots which normal price are $ 8.50. My friend and I ordered the classic grilled cheese and the cuban sandwich to share. They were again delicious but three small triangles; not a whole sandwich. We added the tomato, avocado, and prosciutto on the grilled cheese for a dollar each. There were a couple pieces of avocado in the sandwich. A whole avocado costs $1. So without adding anything it would be three triangles of bread with cheese for $12. The homemade potato chips that come with the sandwiches are delicious but don't make it worth $12. Our other friend ordered the clam linguini which she said was really good and there were a good amount of clams but we thought she should have gotten some bread with it to dip in the sauce. We were there for happy hour so this was all half off but for the portions they should normally be that price. I don't know why anyone would go here if it wasn't Happy Hour and the portions still don't justify items being half off.

This place has Happy Hour all day, I believe, Mon thru Sat. Went with a couple friends and ordered a number of plates. I got the Mussels and Fries which were amazing. Tried the wings but I've had better wings at a bar. The meat candy was different and mac and cheese was OK; seemed a bit too rich and cheesy. And I'm one to love mac and cheese pretty much anywhere. Atmosphere was nice and inside was clean. They have Noodle Bar menu with Asian dishes but doubt that I would try anything off this menu as they really aren't an Asian restaurant.

Hook me up with happy hour and it's all good. They know to hook me up with tons of fries, so no need for alarm. I know the place is upscale, but I don't need to be mean mugged by the host with the lame suit and fauxhawk cuz he knows I'm a shitbag...

Wow! Had the Kobe beef, wife had the shrimp and noodles. Both dishes were good but the Kobe was by far better. Had a window seat which I requested. Very elegant, quiet and very adult. Waiter was excellent. Nice selection of wines. Expensive though but worth the $100 spent on the two of us.

I give their Happy Hour 5 stars because it really is as good as it gets! The menu is 4-6 pages long with ample and varied choices, including the "noodle bar" menu. We had the: Meat Candy (dates filled with parm wrapped in bacon), Juny's Cuban Sandwich, Chicken Wings, and the Summer Mac n Cheese. It was all good, but with such a great looking menu and such good prices I would probably only order the meat candy again in the near future. Oh, and the potato chips that came with the cuban were AMAZING!

The menu changes periodically, so I won't comment on any specific dish. But I haven't had anything that I didn't like very much. The specials seem to be the best value. Wait staff can be sometimes pretentious and sometimes over casual/friendly, but they are always informed and prepared to assist. It is sometimes too noisy for this old man but that is expected from a converted warehouse. At least the guests feel comfortable enough to keep up conversation. I love the food here. Drinks and wine are good, too. Service and ambiance is good, too. Valet parking is good, too. Try it now!

Fantastic happy hour menu that continues to evolve. A little slice of Seattle in downtown Tacoma. Great steak!

I thought the food was over priced. The flavor certainly didn't justify the cost. I had the Thai style breaded halibut with curry sauce. The halibut itself was delicious but that's the nature of the fish. The breading actually detracted from the fish and was somewhat greasy. The curry sauce tasted okay but they didn't provide enough of it for the fish. It also included a few mussels which tasted very fishy. My wife had the scallops also with curry sauce. Again, scallops sell themselves and don't need much help. The curry sauce was somewhat bland and the food (both dishes) was served luke-warm. In hindsight I should have sent them back but really wanted to like them after all the good reviews I heard about this place. If your only culinary reference is Tacoma and the surrounding area, you may like this place. The service was good though.

Nice place as far as decor goes....our waitress was great as well....felt the food was marginal for the price...for $35 I got about 6 or 7 seared scallops with 5 asparagus spears that were shriveled up and smaller than any spears I have seen served in such a small amount! Tulios in Seattle served their asparagus this small but in a decent side amount. I am not a big eater ..but left hungry!

I'm totally a fan of the Pacific Grill's food and customer service. The food was extremely excellent, but what impressed me the most was the host and wait staff's reaction to an unexpected addition to my party. I originally made a reservation for two. At the last minute, my friend had to bring her 5-month old baby (they had just flown in from Denver and I didn't know she was bringing the baby). Contrary to what I expected, the host and waitstaff happily fixed our table to accommodate the baby and made him feel as welcome as any other guest. Many other restaurants would have probably rolled their eyes and given us a "You should have left the baby at home" attitude. Thanks, guys! I would have given the restaurant five stars, but it did seem like we were waiting an extra long time for our main course. Regardless, I'll be returning guest to this jewel of Tacoma!

I love love LOVE meals at Pacific Grill! I have only gone a couple times and the meals were decadent and exciting. They were amazingly expensive, too. Aside from very special occasions, I steer clear of this charming restaurant in order to stay out of debt. I did, however, try their happy hour with a friend (see a pattern?) recently. It's much cheaper, which you'd be hard-pressed to complain about. My only complaint, in a different vain, is that they don't make it clear what applies to happy hour and our waitress seemed genuinely put-out when we asked. The food and drinks were still delicious, and I'd recommend happy hour to anyone! But, even if you're in danger of annoying the waiters, I'd encourage making damn sure the things you're ordering aren't full-price!

I have visited the Pacific Grill many times in the past. I have never been so disappointed in a favorite place as I was this evening. It was mostly about the service. The food was all that I had hoped for but our server had to be tracked down constantly to order either to order drinks or bring reminded of other things that were ordered. She was trying to make friends with everyone instead of serving us. Granted she is obviously ready to deliver a baby any day & that could have made her more inclined to stop and smell the roses. On the other hand, the dirty plates were left in front of us long after they were ready to be taken away and we had to ask they they be removed. The other thing that was a total disaster was the last course. I ordered a chocolate gouache thing and it was hard as a brick. Obviously very old. I am a lite cook and can make a gauche better than this any day of the week. I don't think I will spend my 250$ for dinner here again. Anyrun of the mill restaurant will be better than this disappointment

i went there during their happy hour w/ a few of my friends. the food was delicious & fresh. the service.. idk. it was okay, but half the time we were there our server was busy talking to other servers, playing through their phones, etc. we would have to ask another server close to us to get us what we wanted & she'd tell our server what we wanted. love their food, but not so much the service!

FYI, you can get coupons for this restaurant at restaurant.com I love their mussells & fries (their fries are the best teeny tiny shoestrings-yum) as well as their asian salad- soo good! I have to say though, I went here once with a group of people and their mussells were full of broken shells and a ton of sand- it was almost deliberate feeling (they had sent the 1st plate back because there is proscioutto sp~ in it and they are vegetarian). I would like to hope it was not, since I still eat there. I just looked and don't think they're on the menu anymore! Oh well, good eats!

We eat here on occasion - sounds silly OK. One of our top 5 Tacoma establishments! Stopped again last week after a late volleyball match for a few quick appetizers to substitute for not eating dinner. We have never experienced bad service and our food has always been good! Service was exceptional as always.

Located in downtown Tacoma, this place is one of the 'cool' places to dine especially late night when most other places are closed. This place takes on a gourmet flare to Northwest American Pacific rim food. The food is good, but a bit $$$ for the portions. Its much better for HH. The ambiance is nice and trendy. The service is very good. I ordered the ribs. They were nicely done, moist and tender, with a delish sweet bbq sauce. My friend ordered sweet potatoe fries, which were good but ordinary. Drinks were good, but nothing to hoot and holler about. Great place to get together with friends in Tacoma, but its hard to rival similar Seattle places.

Pleasant Suprise! I met someone here for dinner. Not having as many dinning experiences in Tacoma as I have elsewhere, I wasn't sure what to expect. Gun shots, the Aroma of Tacoma, Crack hoe's...Instead I find a great Jewel of a place to eat in a revitalized waterfront with very little riff raff. Although my friend does live up the street and she is borderline trouble. Ok, tangent... Pacific Grill has some Northwest American goodness with a unique flair that leaves you feeling like the Chef really loves what he does. The decor is nice, location is convenient and happy hour prices are great. I can care less for some of the slop that is currently being served at many restaurants out there in the culinary world, so my run in with Pacific Grill was a good one. Presentation, atmosphere, and fresh tasty food being served, you just can't go wrong. I will be returning and I highly recommend this place.

Absolutely loved the appetizer plate of local cheeses, meats, olives, & fruit... topped off with a delicious steak dinner salad, and fine glass of cabernet. Stumbled upon this restaurant & was very impressed! A new Tacoma "fav"!!!!

Okay...the first meal I had here, I didn't write a review, because I figured it was a fluke. In that meal (September) the waiter told us the Gazpacho was light on the garlic (after asking the chef, apparently...I'm intolerant to garlic - I love it, it doesn't love me...) not so. Very garlicky. The ONLY reason the chef wouldn't know that, is that it was not made by her/him from scratch. Good cocktail was the one bright spot. The tuna was so overcooked that I would have sent it back if my buddy was not paying. I would have felt bad sending it back. His steak was also overlooked...,again: bad experiences happen, especially on Monday when the executive chef might be off... Then I got a gift card...went back with a friend and luckily encountered happy hour! Sat at the front room/bar. Bad service was to be expected since one waiter was manning the whole front room. We had no problem with that since we weren't in a hurry. 1st Dish: CRAB - Hush puppies. Not bad, but I challenge you to find evidence of crab in it. It doesn't taste like crab, and I didn't expect it to, but i did expect to taste the richness of crab or at least see evidence of it when I broke the falafel-tasting-ball apart. Not there. 2nd Dish: BRIGHT BRIGHT SPOT! Mussels and Fries. Wonderful and tender mussels and good crisp fries! Worth getting for sure (and only reason that a restaurant of this pedigree and price doesn't get 1 star) 3rd Dish: Then we both had the grilled cheese with prosciutto (sounded great). Not enough cheese to hold the two pieces of bread together?!! We both got our sandwich sliced in 3 pieces and only the middle section of each had enough cheese to hold the sandwich together...terrible execution. Nicely grilled bread is the one compliment of this sandwich. (it was tasty, in the middle part where it seemed like more than eating grilled bread). The culinary ability is present. The culinary willingness to use proteins that are expensive and "as advertised" is lacking. Don't know what to say. I love food and am so hesitant to write such a negative review...I don't want to say that I was embarrassed when I was there with out-of-town-guests, but it is was so underwhelming that as a yelp Elite, it's gotta be mentioned. If you go, get the mussels.

I've only sat at the bar area, but I must say they have an amazing happy hour. Currently, if you dine at the bar, you will get 50% off of their bar food. This special is for the entire day. Their crab hush puppies are fantastic - flavorful crab with a nice breading on the outside. It comes with a homemade tartar sauce and a fresh green salad. Only 6 dollars during happy hour. Several Yelpers have mentioned their sliders in their reviews. Although these sliders aren't the best I have had, they are very good. The bun is very soft and the meat is cooked perfectly. I'm also a big fan of their skinny fries which accompany the sliders and they have the right amount of crunch and salt. This will also only set you back 6 dollars. As for the happy hour sandwiches, I highly recommend the cuban or the meatball sandwich. Both are probably among the best I have had in the area and the staff is more than willing to cut each sandwich in half which makes for a perfect meal to share with someone else. Overall, a nice swanky place to go if you want to get dressed up with friends or a significant other. With happy hour all day, one of the best times to stop by is around 8pm on the weekdays. It isn't too busy so the food will come out hot and fresh.

My girlfriend and I went out for an evening on the town for a girls night out and we started the evening off with dinner at the Pacific Grill. I definitely recommend a reservation, especially on weekend evenings (we made ours using Opentable.com through Yelp which was super easy). The ambiance is very upscale and personal which we thought was great. The food all looked amazing - I had a delicious cut of steal-head that was cooked to perfection and my friend had lobster tail...yum yum!! Out waitress was wonderful and very accomadating and let us know that because they felt it took a bit to get out entree's that they wanted to buy us both dessert. We were so full that we decided to take them up on a Julia Childs brownie sundae w/ white chocolate ice cream and caramel drizzle to share...delicious!! I will soon be back w/ my fiance' for a romantic dinner...just the two of us :) Love Love Love this place!!!

With all of the swank going on over here, I seem to forget how nice the Tacoma waterfront is. Such dim lighting always makes me feel sexy, and the smiles that the staff had while they greeted me, seated me, and took my order made me wondering if this was an upscale Cheers. It was pretty busy for Happy Hour, but the service was quick! Blue cheese tater tots and crab hush puppies were some of things that I happily sampled while sipping on my $5 glasses of house wine. It's wonderful to see that the HH bar menu wasn't restricted to just appetizer fare and I love how they had so many options to choose from. Random observation was that their bathrooms were so pretty and I found myself taking mental decorating notes as I was handling my business. I know, TMI.

I hate to be negative but I feel it's well deserved. We went to the Pacific Grill last night for a friends birthday party last night and the party was sadly disappointed and will probably not return for dinner. Heres the break down: Venue: was very nice Restroom: very nice Service :was so-so 10% tip Menu: made absolutely no sense at all They had just rolled out a new menu I was told, I ordered the fried chicken with sweet potato salad with beans. To start I had the BLT salad that honestly wasn't bad then they rolled out with the hand made gorgonzola tater tots, sounded good but it again had no taste, it was like eating greasy mush balls with cheese sauce smeared on it. The chicken was very dry and tasteless, it did have a side of BBQ sauce but the sauce was just as tasteless, the sweet potato salad needed salt and pepper along with the beans but there was none to be found. I do have to say the saving grace for the dish was a very small piece of grilled corn that was very good. To be fare after everyone was finished eating the waitress noticed I'd only taken a few bites and asked if everything was ok and after I explained the issues she later came back and said they where going to take it off the bill. Very nice.

A happy hour all day, every day? Wait, does that make it a happy day? Every single time I go to Pacific Grill, I'm impressed by the scale of the restaurant, and of the growing Nacarato empire. I only wish that every restaurant on Pacific Ave was as busy as this place is on a nightly basis. You have to sit in the bar to get happy hour, but it's a large space with a number of 4 top tables available as well. The menu is extensive and gives you a lot of options for food. The drink options aren't as extensive for HH, but we have to give them credit, they offer it ALL the time. I just heard that they will be running the new restaurant at the LeMay Museum, plus they do the catering for the Marriott hotel above them on Pacific. Can't wait to see what the future holds for them.

We always end up here for Happy Hour when our good buddy from abroad visits, because they have the best oyster shooters in the universe, flavorful, oyster strong, with a nice zing at the end. Appetizers are half price and a meal in themselves. Love the cheeseburger sliders. Tried the Ahi this time, and it was superb. Bar area is small and crowded, but they let us crowd around 7 to a table, and a great time was had by all. Fine service, nice atmosphere. Best happy hour in Tacoma!

The Happy Hour menu at Pacific Grill in Tacoma is one of the best deals in the city. The one dish that stands out as my favorite are the Sliders with rosemary and garlic fries. Uh may zing. Great wine, fast & friendly service and I never get bored with the menu since there is so much to choose from. Just wish the bar was a little bigger, every time we go it's packed!

I loved the Vietnamese Ruben - delicious! But I've also had some great sliders. Even with the Happy Hour it is a little more spend-y, but I'm more that happy to pay an extra buck for the service and atmosphere. Features some great selection with Happy Hour all day in the Bar & Lounge area, so you must be 21 to enjoy all the specials.

I went in for the Happy Hour because of all the reviews. I didn't have one dish off the HH menu. Granted, I was hoping for food not girly-date-night-finger-crumbs. Anyways, I ordered the duck. Why? I think it was the special and I was still a little disappointed (my fault, too) in the HH selection. The duck was good maybe even excellent, considering I am not a duck dish specialist. It was cooked to perfection, along with the sides; vegetables and potatoes. As normal with duck dishes you pay more than what you get. I assume that is no different with the rest of the selections. On second thought, maybe I was a little harsh on the HH menu; it is probably excellent considering the main dishes are up to par. Bottom line; take a date, enjoy the HH menu, drink and have a good time.

Very slow service, incorrect orders, and missing orders are the negatives. Drinks were inconsistent but strong. Any drink other than the limited beer list is spendy. Good to very good food. Service while slow was very friendly.

Well, to put it simple... I was very disappointed. The building is super cool inside and out every thing looks right, but something was definitely missing. Maybe it was the waitress who was too busy on her cell phone to notice us, or maybe it was that after spending 60 bucks I was still hungry. The whole thing really left me very sad as this is a place that you would love to love. Maybe next time they will be able to deliver so I can up the rating.

Solid 3 stars. Let me explain. Service. Our waitress was bright, knowledgable and very helpful. She seemed to be where we needed her and not overly obtrusive. She also did get the manager at a very appropriate time. More on that below. Ambience. Great! Nice and cozy, low lighting that is perfect for a date and just as useful for a corporate dinner. Drinks. Solid wine selection and their Gentlemans Jack and Ginger is quite good. Food. Ah here's where the restaurant fell flat. Ordered the crab "hushpuppies" which were tasty but had a horrible presentation. Just four fried balls on some scattered greens. Same with the house caesar salad. Just some lettuce chopped and with sauce drizzled over it. Worse, the home made Caesar dressing had almost NO taste of anchovies in it. My wife and I waited a good 30 minutes for the steaks we ordered to come out and when they did, the chefs had overdone them. Badly. Her rare was a medium rare (more medium) and my medium rare was closer to medium well. Also, again with boring and uninspired presentation. This is where the service really stepped up. The waitress did her customary how is your food cooked and then when finding we weren't happy, promptly got the manager and clued her in. Prior to that she did offer to have another steak cooked but we did not feel like waiting another 30 minutes. The manager came over and apologized and took my wife's steak off the bill without prompting. A very appropriate response. All in all, we will be back to try this place again. We are starved for quality dining here in WA. So far, we have been dissatisfied with most places. Pacific Grill was looking promising until the aforementioned. But, definitely will give it at least one more chance.

Ridiculous wait time, the breeze in the waiting area was freezing. We called to make to reservations and no answer. Then we get there and the hostess is answering the phone. Not a way to impress new customers. Not planning on going back.

*UPDATE* I tried this place again after the managment reached out to me about my yelp review. The service was a million times better. Our server was very fun and personable. The food, was good. I dont know that I would pay those prices again when there are so many restaurants charging the same amount for food that is in my opinion much, much better. My fiance and I went to try the happy hour to get an idea if we liked the style of food for our wedding reception. We walked in and waited at the wait to be seated sign. Hostess was MIA. I stepped into the restaurant and asked a server if we had to wait to be seated at the bar. She said no and we went to the bar and sat at a table. There was about 10 tables seated in the restaurant and two tables in the bar besides ours with about 6 people at the actual bar. I counted 7 servers plus the bartender. After sitting there for 15 minutes without a single hello we decided to leave. On our way out we ran into the hostess. She was doing her nails. Not a place I would recommend to anyone and would never trust with any special occasion.

The Pacific Sunrise cocktail was AWFUL! Onion rings were Ok. Tator Tots were lame. Cheese Toast with melted tomatoes were pretty good. But the best thing EVER was the cookie jar from Pastry Chef Erin Powell.

Happy hour all the time? Every day? I have such a hard time wrapping my head around that! The service is great and the HH menu is packed with good stuff, even if you've got to stay sober enough to mentally divide-by-two for all the prices. Weirdest thing: I didn't even know I liked wedge salads! Paying for a glorified chunk of iceberg hast just always seemed wrong, but their wedge is fantastic. The onion rings get a phenomenal UK fish-and-chips-style batter. I wish they would include a second dipping sauce. The sweet apple chutney works surprisingly well with the fried rings, but I want a bit of variation and besides, I always run out of the chutney about halfway through. And the foie - it's not faux just because it's duck, guys - but it is more of a potted mousse. I'm sure there's a french word for this that I just don't know. And the tots - house tots with blue cheese! Tots that they make in-house! Crab hush puppies, a spicy shrimp cocktail with piles of miscellaneous seafood and big hunks of avocado, an assortment of sliders, tuna poke, asian-seasoned cold sliced pork loin (don't scoff, it's great), spicy asian wings - and they've got a good beer selection to back it all up (though I hope the Hennepin Saison rotates back into the lineup). Only complaint: that bar really fills up sometimes, and I'm not about to sit in the main section and miss out on the happy hour!

I've been to Pacific Grill a few times before with girlfriends and was really excited to have my husband take me here. He scheduled our anniversary dinner and let them know that we were celebrating the event when he made the reservation. When we arrived, they sat is right next to the front door and right in front of the bar which was pretty amped on a Saturday night, and the seating was basically the same as the bar; elevated bistro table and not very romantic. Our waitress asked us when we got there if we were celebrating anything special and I let her know that we were celebrating our anniversary, which left me to believe that their front desk hadn't communicated information themselves. Not the end of the world, but still not professional. If it was a typical evening, I would have no complaints. The food and service were great. I had to knock off a star for the lack of attention to detail for what was supposed to be a very special night since not a single thing was done to make it feel that way.

When we arrived it was displayed as much more upscale than it seemed it should be as displayed by the reviews and yelp category. My mother guest didn't like how spicy the pork chops were and the staff was very accommodating to replace the dish right away. I found my streak cooked and seasoned very well. The only annoying thing was the party next to us at the bar... Very loud and obnoxious...

I recently tried this place for the first time and was not disappointed. Let me start by saying I do upscale dining a few times a month, and despite this place isn't super fancy it really blew some nicer places out of the water! First off the inside is really neat. It is very classy and cozy and the lighting is just perfect. Secondly the waiters there are great...very attentive and know everything about the menu. Now, let me get to the food... I love oysters, and this place by far has the best oysters I've had in a while. None of the oysters were very briny, and all were cleaned well and fresh-tasting. Yum! As far as things you must order: Appetizers/Small Plates 1-SMOKED STEELHEAD-local cold-smoked columbia river steelhead, 'everything' lavash crackers, red onion, capers + cream cheese 2-THE DEVIL'S EGGS-a variety of eggs from the devil herself 3-CHARCUTERIE + CHEESE-imported + domestic salami, cured meats + a variety of cheeses+ lavash crackers Entrees 1-WEATHERVANE SCALLOPS-1/2 lb sautéed fresh alaskan scallops, baked spaghetti squash w/ fontina cheese, jalepeño + arugula 2-MEATLOAF-veal, pork + beef meatloaf wrapped in wild boar bacon w/ manchego mashed potatoes+ beer gravy The experience overall was awesome and I can't wait to go back!

Well I've been here a few times for their happy hour, but most recently I came on a Friday just before Christmas. This place was packed - waited an hour for a table for 3 in the bar...but what did you expect? All day happy hour with a huge menu of food options 50% off is guaranteed to draw a crowd. Great, classy atmosphere. Quick service. I had the arancini and the kale salad. The arancini was great and pretty filling for a small plate. Nice crispy outside but hot and creamy inside. mmm. Kale salad was nice and refreshing. We shared an order of the onion rings. The batter was light and crispy like a tempura batter. I really liked the ketchup (I think it had cranberry in it, it was slightly tangy) but not sure my friends felt the same way. It was a divisive condiment. I would like to see a better draft beer selection.

This place is called pacific grill, little classy and what grill does not have at least one big burger, this place, they did have slider burgers two small sliders and very very thin fries at $15.95, had the bar food menu not been 50% off happy hour I would have gotten something else, other than that it was pretty good, the should add a big fat burger to the menu I've never been to a grill that didn't have on till now

Everyone has told me to try this place so I decided to finally try it. So lets get down to the nitty gritty. The service from the hostess to the bartender was flawless. Everyone was friendly and made good eye contact. The decor is nice as well. Everyone has always told me the happy hour is great. Well... The prices for food are half off. Alcohol is not half off. In fact alcohol prices are very high but if you are staying at the attached Marriott or the nearby Murano, you can afford $6 beer. I ordered two items from the menu, Tater Tot Poutine and the Bhan Mi sammich. The tater tots were the frozen type, there was a small lump of cheese on the bottom of the bowl, the gravy looked like it was slopped on and had no flavor. It wasn't good, but it wasn't bad. I could make better at home. The bhan mi was better. The accompanying slaw was homemade and had a light Asian flavor. The sandwich was good, nice Asian flavors but there are two things I would change, add more meat, reduce the amount of sauce by 50% (it was a overdressed). I would probably not order either again in order to try something different. I would go back one more time to try different dishes and order water to drink.

I usually only write reviews when I want to warn of issues. I could not find anything to complain about at the Pacific Grill. First- the food. The menu was loaded with delicious options. My wife's scallops on a bed of spaghetti squash were cooked perfectly, and my pork had great flavor and was as tender as the finest grass-fed beef. In addition, the onion soup had a very tasty mix of ingredients and our deserts (sweetbreads and a brownie with Ice cream sundae topping) were to die for. The service was timely and the waitresses were very amiable and knowledgeable. The noise level was surprisingly low despite the brick walls. The high ceilings certainly helped. I rarely visit Tacoma, but when I do, I will surely return there.

Possibly one of the best happy hours in Tacoma. The restaurant offers all day specials in the bar. I haven't been here for quite a while, so I was pleased to see a lot of the same prices on the menu. We ordered the house red wine, Cuban sandwich with fried potato chips, salmon sliders with fried crisps, and the sweet potato salad. House red was a generous serving, so we actually ordered 2 glasses. Cuban sandwich had a panini style and was a good portion as well. If you only order the salmon sliders, consider ordering another appetizer or side because the two sandwiches will not be as filling (in my honest opinion). Loved the sweet potato salad, not overwhelmingly creamy or sweet or mushy. Restaurant is clean, servers are not pretentious, and it is in a convenient location with free street parking after 6pm.

A table of 6, we ordered the small plates as recommended. These were good (particularly the wild mushroom tapenade and the pumpkin ravioli). Good quality ingredients went a long way, however pretentious service, a poor wine list, and just a lack of pizzaz tipped the balance in the opposite direction. Mixed drinks were average... so overall an A-OK experience but nothing to rave about.

I came here with my family as I wanted to do something special for my dad and bro's birthday. MAKE RESERVATIONS. This place is super busy, and we saw people who turned away dejected because the wait was going to be an hour. There is also nothing nearby really so seriously just make reservations if you want to eat here. I originally made the reservation for 6:15 and called ahead about an hour before to push it back to 7pm and we were seated right away at that time. They're nice and flexible, just give them a heads up. My mom had a glass of malbec which was reeeeeeeeally buttery and rich and nice. Bro and hubs both had different IPAs and they tasted like IPAs. Their beer selection (especially draft) isn't very large but they do have bottled Stone which is nice. We ordered the aracini (fried risotto balls) which was average, and the wild mushroom pate to share. The pate had good flavor but was WAY too salty. I did however really enjoy their sesame seed crackers for the mushroom which seemed homemade. For entrees we had the filet mignon, duck breast, steak frites and clam pasta which was all good. The filet mignon and steak frites were phenomenal and done really well, I wasn't a huge fan of the duck breast and the clam pasta had a bit of broken clam that was an annoying surprise. The steak was a bit overcooked, my bro ordered his rare but got medium, but it still cut like butter so he ate it. My one thing with this place is that though the food generally is well seasoned, some parts are a bit too salty. The wild mushroom pate was wayy too salty, my mashed potatoes were also wayyy too salty and the steak frite fries were also salty. For dessert we shared the strawberry shortcake, olive oil creme brulee and the fruit tart. My favorite was probably the strawberry shortcake,, the cream was good, the strawberries were sugary and cooked in syrup, the shortcake was good and there was a small biscuit that was thrown in there. The olive oil creme brulee was also good and I could definitely taste it but it would be a bit much for me to eat alone. The fruit tart was the most disappointing as it was pretty much an apple tart with a few blueberries thrown on top. It did have a tiny scoop of vanilla icecream and it was ok. I originally wanted Julia Child's brownie sundae which they had run out of unfortunately. I had let our server know beforehand that we had two birthdays and he was able to take off two desserts which was lovely. Service was also superbly attentive, I didn't need to ask him for 2 extra spoons to share the desserts, he just did it. Parking is validated, and we saw a sign that said you could park at the Tacoma Convention Center lots A, B, D and G I believe. We parked in B which was a street away and walked over. It was relatively warm today so it was fine but if it were the dead of winter and I were freezing, I would not want to make that trek. Don't worry about dressing up, some of the patrons are from the Marriott upstairs so they look like they're on vacation, and this is WA so inevitably there were people there in rain gear. I myself was in running shoes and leggings and didn't feel too under-dressed. A side note though, my family members were the only group of Asians in this restaurant and we got many looks with some people straight up staring at us through our entire meal. I felt a bit like an exotic zoo animal, I know Tacoma has Asians so why the fascination at this particular establishment? That part was bizarre.

Best Happy Hour around - Amazing options and great food. Worth the stop. Good stuff on tap, full bar, and the appetizers are worth the wait. We will be coming back often. I really recommend the Tater Tot Poutine. It doesn't sound that great but is amazing comfort food; Good portion and plenty of heat. You also cant go wrong with the Meat Candy...and with a name like that, it sure sounds good.

As someone said, 5 star food at 2 star prices. Probably the most accurate depiction of this place. I had the Cuban sandwich which was really tasty and awesome at half price. The house made potato chips were reallllyyyy good. Also had some wings which are the crunchiest I've ever had--- a definite plus. The hawk sauce was just okay though. Next time I'm going to ask for the sauce on the side and maybe ask for ranch. Sweet potato fries were decent. Arancini were also delicious. Would definitely go again.

I've been here several times now and will write a critique. The dinner service and food are outstanding. Great selection and service in the dining room. Top notch never had a bad meal for dinner there. The happy hour at the bar is the problem. They seem to be very inconsistent with their food. Sometimes it is good and sometimes so bad I had to send it back. I ordered the fish and chips which are normally very good. Unfortunately it was soggy and undercooked where the batter was still wet. I ended up sending it back and a new order was a bit better but still inconsistent. It seemed like the fryer wasn't hot enough. My wife ordered the salmon fish tacos. Two tiny tacos were not worth the happy hour price. And what is up with the Happy Hour? It is pretty much always happy hour there. So 50% off? They just overpriced it as a marketing gimmick. It ends up being an okay value, but the marketing of it wasn't to my taste. I'm sticking to the normal dinner menu and going somewhere else for happy hour.

If you are hungry don't eat here. A member of my party paid $35 for three scallops the size of a chicken mcnugget sitting on a bed of leafy spinach. I ordered the pork chops which were somewhat tasty but a real small cut, with the thinnest asparagus spears I have ever seen in my life. Very minimal beer selection as well. Service was acceptable and the atmosphere was pleasant. I paid nearly $100 for our meals and we went away hungry. Way overpriced.

I was in town for training and needed a quick & close bite for lunch. We called ahead and I explained to the hostess we had 45 min to get in & out for lunch. She answered that it depends on how many people come in within the next five mins, after first asking if we had a reservation. Well, maybe she wasn't hired for her logical reasoning...? When we got there we were greeted by a blank faced hostess, and I steered promptly into the bar area. The server, on the other hand, was the best. He put our order in, got our food out, and our check taken care of in 30 mins. I can't say we had an accurate diction of their menu as we ordered off the apps menu for time's sake. The arancini was not that of Sicily; it was instead mini versions with some melted cheese inside, and horrible Pizza Hut like red sauce underneath. My better half had the pork sliders w/ sweet pot fries. The fries were deceptively yummy; they look shriveled, but have a savory seasoning that made me wish I had simply ordered a bowl of fries.

A little pricey but well worth the money. Service was great. Food was great. Best part was the oyster shooters. My bf had the clam steamers, I had "Stan the man" clams, and for appetizer we had basically bread with mushrooms on top (pretty good). On top of our food we had the oyster shooters and two alcoholic beverages. Our bill came up to $100. This place is definitely worth trying out. Also you can only get HH at the bar

    (4)
  • Caroline L.

Came here for late night happy hour. The HH menu is extensive. All food items are 50% off the menu. The food is gooood but the portions are small :( I tried the chicken wings and the Katsu salad, both were good. Just wish there was more of it! Service was nice even in the bar area.

I really appreciate the layout of the menu. They label vegan and gluten free options for those, like myself who have dietary restrictions or preferences. And there's so many options, I'm in heaven, even the desert menu doesn't leave the gluten-intolerant folks out. I'm stoked.

Great restaurant in Tacoma right near the water. The decor is classy and simple with an upscale feel. The oysters were very fresh and had a great flavor. The shrimp cocktail was huge and very flavorful. I really enjoyed the chopped wedge salad with extra think bacon perfectly cooked. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food items as well. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. The menu is large and they also have a large menu with the specials. Large choices of wines also.

Sets a good standard for downtown Tacoma. It's like a bunch of other business lunch kind of places and did not disappoint until dessert. The smoked salmon on flat bread was delicious. The Seafood Louis was also great with giant grilled shrimp and a decent helping of crab. I felt that the portions were on the small side, but then the quality was excellent so I can't complain. No bread was offered or served with lunch, however. Dessert was a miss for me. It was the first thing on the menu and included a piece of toasted meringue on sauce with strawberries. Really undistinguished and the berries tasted and looked as they had been frozen, not fresh. A disappointment to an otherwise delightful lunch. Service was excellent. Pricey but good.

Love Oysters fresh and tasty? they've got em! We were craving some seafood and yelped looking for a popular, nearby place and found Pacific Grill. Checked in with open table and there were no rez's left for the evening but saw you could sit in the bar area and receive full access to the menu, so off we went. After fighting the crazy WA traffic we arrive and miraculously there is room in the bar area. We order oysters, risotto with prawns and a pasta dish. Every single dish was out of the world wonderful. The service was awesome as well! Reason for the four v five stars is the wine menu (by the glass) sparce and not great. I can see serving almost only WA wines but come on, give a patron a better by the glass selection! Try serving William Church wines, they are from WA and are awesome. Would definitely go back when in the area!!!

For dinner last evening I enjoyed raw oysters and the melted tomato cheese bread at the bar. Other than a little grit in the oysters, they were tasty. I had a draft IPA with the oysters and a Malbec with the bread. Unfortunately after returning to my hotel room and relaxing, I developed extreme gastro problems. I got food poisoning from one of the dishes.

Great for happy hour! The smoked steel head was delicious -- would highly recommend it. The kale salad with prosciutto was solid, but there are better choices like the sliders. Service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was unpretentiously upscale. Probably a little to pricey at full price, but for happy hour this place was great

Attended this location for a wedding in their lower street level ballroom, pretty awesome spot. You didn't feel like you were in an event space at all, the wall covering, lights, and exposed brick really gave it a nice feel. The catering was delicious, the bride and groom brought in an offsite caterer to do a doughnut bar instead of a wedding cake, totally awesome! And great that the event space allowed them to, a lot of places are really particular about that. I would for sure consider this place for an event of my own, great layout and presentation, nothing bad to say about it!

Lucky the menu is cheap and the bar staff is amazing because the food tends to be over salted lately and the floor manger is VERY UNFRIENDLY. Not warm, doesn't smile and lacks professionalism. She is condescending to the bar staff in front of customers and is completely unaware of negative facial expressions while obviously talking about guests. The servers/ bar staff I had were Johnny and Murphy and they were both very professional and checked on me often with out making me feel bothered.

House red is usually on spot and there's always a nice Elysian beer on tap to enjoy(Pale Ale - pretty hoppy and delicious). Tried something new: Salmon Sliders (substitute the chips for sweet potato fries) -comes with two small sliders that are very delicious! They are like crabcake texture, not solid pieces of salmon. Sweet potato fries were crispy but there were just too many for me to eat-- so if you can eat a lot, you'll get plenty of food. Boyfriend had a huge appetite and got: -Cuban sandwich WITH Bacon added -Ban Mii sandwich (spicy) -Blonde dessert (if you love peanut butter, you'll love this one!) Everything was good. Ban Mii is something we get every time. Cuban was very delicious though! I would have all of these dishes again. If you can't wait for happy hour, dining is good too. It is usually a bit spendy, so keep that in mind!

We tried Pacific Grill for happy hour. They served us some nice bar food. The set up was fun. Half of the restaurant is a bar, where you can get "happy hour" pretty much all night. The other half was the real sit-down restaurant. Everything was windows and wood, and there was jazz playing in the background that was just the right volume that I could have a conversation. The wine list was very good (and if you go to happy hour, most of it is half off), but we wanted to try the cocktails. I had a Zen, which was a little too kaffir lime-y. We started with the tater tots, which were fun. I loved the large chunks of avocado mixed with the bacon and other ingredients. Then I had a wedge salad, which came with generously thick cut chunks of bacon. My husband had the fish and chips, which he described as "fine." For dessert, he tried the blondie. He ate every bite, so it clearly wasn't bad. I flipped through the regular menu, and it is very similar to the bar menu, so if you don't mind sitting in the front of the restaurant, save your dollars. This place wasn't bad, but it wasn't groundbreaking. But if you are by the convention center and want a solid meal, this isn't a bad option.

Overall, pretty good place to have lunch at if your in Downtown Tacoma. The prices here are reasonable, and the service is very good. They have a full service bar, and for lunch went with Smoked Salmon and the Apple tart for desert. Both were VERY good, and priced affordable. I would most certainly recommend going here, I plan on being back- perhaps for dinner service.

The place is nice, the food came quick and was good... until I found a hair in my Mac n cheese... when I told the server the reply was "well that's weird cause I have all guys working the line." Which made it feel like was implying it was my hair. The hair was short and brown I have longer red hair. It could easily been a guys hair, Idk I didn't inspect it, it was gross and now I'm still hungry sense was only 2 bites into my meal when found the hair.

Not a big fan of the Pacific Grill. Have you ever gone to a restaurant & spent 50 on a meal appetizers & drinks but still left hungry? Yeah well, apparently they think that's trendy. Ordered a filet mignon once & the side of potatoes was literally 6 small potato petals. Asian beef appetizer was so small is was borderline ridiculous when they presented it on our table. I'm not cheap, I frequent Asado (same price range) I'm just particular about receiving a fair dollar amount for what I pay for. This place is all style & zero substance.

The ambience was great and the place was clean. We had reservations for 5:30 and they got us to our table at 5:40. The food tasted great but it was extremely slow getting to us. from the time we ordered the food it came to us in one hour. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating. I had the ny steak and it was mediocre for the price. The flavor was good and it was cooked properly but it wasn't very tender. I would come again.

This place is definitely not family friendly. I say this because we brought our daughter in with us and I had a hard time finding her something to eat, they do not have a kids menu. It is a nice place to bring a date though. Atmosphere is warm, cozy and not too loud at least during our visit. Our waitress was attentive, food was ok. We ordered the jalapeño flatbread pizza, foie gras, oyster shooter, filet mignon and meatloaf with boar bacon. Pizza, filet mignon and meatloaf was a little on the saltier side. I would come back for oyster shooter but that's about it.

Nice place with decent food, they have a vegetarian section on their menu and I had the Cauliflower Steak which was good. Had the Arincini as an appetizer and that was good as well. The place was very busy when we went for dinner, there was some confusion over the menus as they have a happy hour bar menu and a regular dinner menu and one is for the bar area and the other for the dining area (which are right next to each other in the same room) but our server was very professional and straightened everything out. Also had their food catered for lunch for a work function and their vegetarian wrap is very good.

Lovely room, lovely and kind server. Enjoyed my lunch but was distressed at the substitution fee of 2.00! I understand that shrimp costs more than chicken but I asked for romaine instead of iceberg. I guess it costs 2.00 worth of labor to reach into a different bowl of produce. Ridiculous considering I wanted to order a 26.00 salad after adding other extras. I'm from LA & Ivy @ the Shore wouldn't charge me for a different type of lettuce???

Last night's small bites at Tacoma Pacific Grill, great ambience; classic brick meets fine dining elegance with a twist of modern city bar... And even better HALF PRICE MENU HAPPY HOUR! Awsome selections, Oyster Shooters in Citrus Vodka & Hawk Wings with Crumbles Blue Cheese Coleslaw. First time checking this place out, and would Deffinately return to try other selections!

This is the perfect place for light bites and mixed drinks. PG's Happy Hour menu is diverse and well rounded, even for those with particular palates. The ambience and decor is classy, sophisticated and not so overwhelming that you're afraid to eat or order a fruity cocktail. The happy hour prices were too good to pass up, so we ended up staying and splitting a few dishes. Everything was pretty good and the service in the bar area was great. We sent back the tonkatsu salad, the chicken was dry and over-cooked and there were no panko breadcrumbs as was described in the menu. But other than that, I have no complaints and I'll definitely make this a happy hour stop next time I'm in the area.

I took my wife there for dinner, and I thought 4 stars is adequate for their services. The food wise is not bad, and the atmosphere is casual to a little fancy if you so desire to wear suit and dress. Otherwise, it is like other restaurants.

I didn't find Tacoma a hopping place, but this place was fantastic. The waiter was very nice and friendly and had really good advice. Like, order your appetizer from the bar menu because its have price. The Caesar salad was excellent with real anchovies and steelhead trout was out of this world, with Brussels sprouts, honey dipped bacon and gnocchi. It could be either this or the bus to Seattle,

I went there to Celebrate my one year Anniversary with my Boyfriend. Not too happy with the $45 filet mignon it was tough, ordered it rare. The wait staff was nice and did receive a call back due to my complaint . I hope the next experience will be better. Thanks for your concerns.

Happy days! TTown has a great Happy Hour!! PG's HH is truly a Happy Day - the HH menu is in full effect during open hours. What That Actually Means: Most of the bar menu is 50% off all day. Well drinks $5.25. $1 off beer. House wine $5. I don't know how they do that, but they do. Pacific Grill Bar is a good place for a date or a more upscale girl's night out. I've been here for regular service in the dining room, but definitely prefer the bar for prices. While I like to slum around in the most questionable places when I drink - sometimes a Diner Diver has to clean herself up and go have some nice food and play respectable - like, actually EAT and drink at the same time! PG makes it affordable. Recommended (with HH pricing - not the regular): Meat Candy - 5 dates wrapped in bacon with a little cheese - $4 Tuna Poke - they call it spicy but it's not, decent sized portion good to share - $6 Fried Chicken Sandwich w/ beet salad - good when hungry - $7 Faux Gras - duck liver pate (smooth style), sauteed shiitakes and bread - $7 and the only pic I've taken in PG...horrible cause it's DARK in here. It's an Almond Roca Blondie ( yelp.com/biz_photos/paci… ). Only $4.25 with HH pricing: Super sweet, it's a moist blondie a la mode with Almond Roca pieces, and caramel sauce. Delicious, cheap, and an ode to our beloved TTown business, Brown & Haley!! The Pacific Grill Bar is definitely Recommended!

Mother's Day Experience falls vastly short of my expectations.... 4 weeks prior I searched high and low for a restaurant worthy of my mother's highly sophisticated fine dining taste. I read online that Pacific Grill was having a Mother's Day Brunch at their event center! I was ecstatic, knowing that all of my previous Pacific Grill experiences were nothing short of exceptional, I made reservations at 12! After arriving at the Pacific Grill fairly early because mother's day is always hectic no matter where you go, I arrived expecting a short delay. Boy, was I wrong! My mom and I arrived at 11:45 and we did not get seated until 12:30...Hey, no problem its mother day, this could be excusable dependent on the food and service we receive and I would be willing to forgive the transgression. ..moving on. After we get seated I eagerly await the arrival of the waitress to start filling my plate up with $45 a plate style dishes! The food was merely satisfactory and there wasn't even a large enough selection to choose something else if you weren't happy with either quiche, scrambled eggs or an omelet....This is upsetting. Pacific Grill I am disappointed in you...I will be back, but only to partake in the happy hour that is offered every day in the bar, never to another Pacific Grill hosted event. Ever.

Best burger sliders around! And those fries- heavenly! Fabulous bar top- say hi to Paul when you are there. Or visit Murphy or Castro in the lounge. They are the best! Happy hour is great, but don't forget to try dinner items as well! Love the old classics like Stan the mans killer linguine but love some of the new menu items even more!

You have to fall into one of two categories to like this restaurant. Having lived in Seattle for a couple years and being in the midst of revisiting Tacoma to celebrate taking my son to college, I should know how to avoid a place like this. Pacific Grill perfectly exemplifies the problem of taking a mixed (over and under 21) party out in the state of Washington. Let me just spell it out for you. The bar is for fun, hip over-21 year olds enjoying the happy hour. But, if you have a teenage kid, your only choice is to sit in the "restaurant", which they should call the retirement home for the blue hair crowd. Who else would put up with the rude service and be happy to pay double everyone else pays two feet away? In other words, don't come here and put up with the rude management unless your whole party is 20-30 and you are eating and drinking on the happy hour menu, or you are too old to care about paying an extra premium to sit in a sad second tier dining area away from the windows.

Pros: Seated quickly on night of Maroon 5 concert. Environment was great. Cons: took almost 30 mins for drink order - food came before beverage, food was just ok. Overall: Bleh. Worth stopping by if convenient, as not a lot of restaurants in the immediate 4 block area. Wouldn't make this a destination restaurant by any stretch.

I have eaten at Pacific Grill around five times while attending meetings and training in the area. The service at Pacific Grill has always been top notch. You can count on great service, even during a busy lunch rush, from this great local establishment. The quality of the food is wonderful, everything is fresh and well prepared. The french fries are so wonderful I could eat them all day (thank heaven I only go on lunch break). The cheeseburger sliders are the perfect size and have a great sauce on them. The salads have high quality toppings and lettuce and the sandwiches (cuban?) was full of flavor. The prices are very competitive and is what you could easily pay for fast food, and that is after the tip (20%) is factored in. They have a great happy hour (bar only) where food is 50% off of menu prices; however, the menu prices on these items is a bit higher then they need to be, the overall price you pay when you leave is a very very fair and worthy price. Thank you to Pacific Grill for providing an outstanding place to eat in Downtown Tacoma, I look forward to my next visit in a month!

I sat at the bar and ordered a wedge salad and some wings. I found a long, red, thick hair in my wedge salad. The bartender looked completely disgusted and quickly took the salad away and ordered a replacement. He never said, "I'm sorry" but the disgust on his face when I handed him the hair spoke louder than words. The manager came over to the bar and pulled the bartender away to see which customer it happened to. I saw them both look at me and she walked away. I sat there for 20 more minutes and she walked by 3 times without apologizing. Are Managers too busy with their staff that they can't take 30 seconds to apologize for a mistake the their restaurant made??? Did they charge me for the salad? Of course they did! #disappointed. Was there any type of regret for what happened? Of course NOT!!

This was the worst restaurant we went to in Tacoma. It has an nice uppity atmosphere lol. The Mac and cheese with steak tastes like flour. The spagetti squash had shells in it it? From the 2 scallops that cost $10 To add. Totally not worth a repeat.

Started with House wine from Wa. Good but missing the middle pallet. Nelms road more robust and full on pallet. 12$ Minestrone soup fantastic. Rustic and authentic. Flavorful and perfect Petite fillet. perfect med rare. Thinner than expected for a fillet. Gratin of potato sweet potato and kale and greyuer cheese was outstanding. Broccoli was adding no value. Presentation was weak. 15 min of free wifi? Get real. So petty. Pumpkin ice creams single scoop. Amazing. This is probably the best restaurant I've been to in the Tacoma area. That's not to say there isn't room for improvement. Overall very satisfied and will return to continue exploring the menu.

I recently took a group of clients to dinner at Pacific Grill. We reserved the back private dinning room and had 11 people in our party. I've been in the service industry for years and I have to say the server was horrible! He didn't introduce himself, he never told us the specials and then when he came to take our orders he seemed annoyed and acted like we were a HUGE bother to him. Everyone in our party felt like it was an inconvenience for us to be there and he seemed really annoyed the entire time.We spent almost $2,000 and when we told the young girls who were the hostess's up front they could have seemed to care less. I was really disappointed in the way we were treated and I definitely won't be doing any more business dinners here!

My wife has significant food allergies. We e-mailed the restaurant a few days in advance and the executive chef, Jessica Armstrong, quickly returned our e-mail. We had a couple exchanges and she was able to accommodate her special food requirements. That is no small feat. Other restaurants can do that as well, but usually the food is bland. My wife's dinner was delicious!! We were part of a party of 6 and everyone's meal was fantastic! The waiter was very attentive and friendly as well. Good wine and dessert was also fantastic. We will definitely be repeat customers!

I was thoroughly impressed! The bar menu was so good, that I ended up not even looking at the dinner menu! ( gives me a reason to go back!) the server knew his menu, had suggestions as to what he liked, the hostess was very impressionable, and the ambiance was perfect for a friend date or a romantic dinner! I am a Chef, and the food itself "spoke" to me!

First time here. The waiter was very good, the food didn't take long, and was very good. Nice and clean, and good atmosphere. The only negative was 2 dinner items were not available that we wanted, which was disappointing. The size of the plates were fine for me, but small to the person I was with. I'm not the biggest fan of brussel sprouts, but the ones here were the best I ever had, and want to have the recipe!!! I would say over all it was a good experience. I would go again! But if you go for a late dinner, they may not have all the dinner items!

Was in town overnight for a funeral of a dear friend. Several of us went out to dinner here, not too far from where folks were staying. We ended up ordering through a big variety of small plates - Papas Bravas, Charcuterie & Cheese, Arancini, Pork Buns, Mac N Cheese and a couple more - enough to feed the 6 of us. Well done, and well-timed service.

We had: French fries, BLT salad, prawns, rice balls, brownie dessert and creme brûlée. Drinks: French 75. The good: rice balls and marinara were perfect and tasty. Prawns were cooked perfectly and flavorful, yet light. French fries were amazing on their own. Bartender didn't ask how to make a French 75, yay! They comped my dessert and brought it out with a candle and card for my birthday, awwww. The waiter, Shawn, was awesome and attentive. The not-so-good: the BLT salad had exactly 6 pieces of avocado (not enough!) and the bacon was fatty. The French fries were served with bottled ketchup: homemade catsup or aioli would've been divine! Bill came to $70, almost well spent.

I came here after being led to some dive bar posing as a highly rated restaurant, and I'm happy I made the effort. The biggest pain about this place is the parking, but there are several options to overcome that. With that said, everything about this place is great. Attentive staff, great ambiance, tasty food, and an interesting location all add up to a great night out to eat. I would highly recommend this place for either business associates or a nice intimate date. I'm a sucker for freshly made chips, and the spicy jelly with gorgonzola only makes them better, but I would maybe ask for the jelly on the side to dip if you are not a messy fingers type of eater. Overall it was very good, and I'll be back on my next pass through town.

Housed in one of my favorite structures in downtown Tacoma, the Waddell building, the Pacific Grill is a happy hour spot and a dining venue for friends, clients who enjoy finger food, seafood, a steak or some small plates. Eating at PG feels like eating in an old building in San Francisco, not as busy swamped, food is fresh and service is present but not obtrusive. I liked the addition of gluten free and vegan icons on the menu. Also, I really like the Mexican, Japanese, Chinese inspired dishes here and for the fresh fresh supah fresh seafood. It is the Northwest. Drool! For this trip, I tried the Smoked Steelhead, Wild Mushroom Pate, french fries (with crispy rosemary and sage), and the 12oz Kansas City bone in strip. The smoked steelhead lightly smoked so that you can still taste the fish, was scrummy (borrowing from another Yelpie). Didn't need the cream cheese which came on the side. The mushroom pate was lusciously earthy and were this a main, I would have gobbled it down with the nice Oregon Pinot I had in hand. But I was hungry. The french fries crisply light melded with the sage and rosemary and garlic. Never had that combo, nice! The steak came plated beautifully appetizing and with gorgeous coloring along with the horseradish mash and more mushrooms. I love mushrooms in this part of the country---- you can taste the freshly harvested aroma of the mushrooms and its environs. When I cut into it, the steak tasted like a very well made steak consistent with how a steak is cooked in a reputable steakhouse. No complaints just deliciously well grilled, medium rare. The PG is restaurant famous for its brand in the area, California style with Asian, Mexican, NW flavors that truly work together well. Service delivers adeptly also. My waiter this time was not only knowledgeable about the food here, he also knew about the history of the company, very interesting that Gordon Naccarato is Executive chef here. Except for the steaks, most dishes are under $20. Without question this restaurant is a very good bargain and one of the reputable restaurants in downtown Tacoma. No wonder it's packed during happy hour. I would love to return on another trip. Wish PG offered dishes prepared with organic and artisanal ingredients especially for gluten-free or vegan patrons. I'm an omnivore but considering one of the draws to dining in Oregon and Washington is the sizable presence of excellent restaurants that cook with organic and locally sourced ingredients, I think the PG could draw more customers if it followed this inevitable trend...... just sayin' not complainin'. Ding! Tip: Half-price bottles of wine under $150 every Tuesday. Much to my happy surprise, PG serves Oregon wines, not very common in WA. Pinot's from Oregon are freakin' insanely sick. Happy hour is all day and the food is deliciously fresh. If you like small plates, fish tacos, happy hour provides really good fresh fish for cheap, not necessary to have dinner. Parking everywhere. Was with clients so no pics on this one. Visits: 2

Pacific Grill is a great accessible fancy restaurant located in the middle of the grid of downtown Tacoma. A fun place which is becoming a foodie favorite. They have just come out with a new menu that allows one to order half portions of some high end dishes. The new Halibut cheeks are incredible and certainly worth checking out as well.

Great atmosphere and proper drink menu if you like classic cocktails. Food is average bistro style items but not worth the price if its not happy hour. We go there for the sliders which are quite good and the old fashion mixed drinks.

Came to Pacific grill after a disappointing experience at another Tacoma restaurant and had nothing but fantastic service and great food for happy hour. Jacob the bartender I believe was personable and attentive, he was informative and precise. I really appreciate the level of service PG offers, even during happy hour. Hats off to you guys that's why your always busy cheers.

I've eaten here before the food was great! But the people were snobby and had no interest in serving us it seemed like. My BF and I went in one day around 4 looking for food food. A meal we were starving lol sadly they only had some bar menu because t was after lunch and before dinner. Ugh I hate when that happens.. But whatever it looked like a cute place and was right down the street from the hotel. We stayed.. The older tall blonde lady serving us have us the attitude like she couldn't even deal with us. No one was really friendly at all. We had a ton of different people bring is our drinks, food, and check. It was probably because we are young at an "upscale" place. That is really more along the lines of average. So anyways I cAlled today to place an order for delivery. According to yelp they deliver. But the chic on the phone says they "only do next day delivery" with a snobby attitude. Who wanta next day delivery on food? Haha Food is great to normal. Staff blows. One dude was nice. But yeahh.

I came in for a steak and quickly realized they don't have a grasp on steak. It's always apparent when the menu states there is a sauce on the steak. So, I opted for a bar menu item... Fish and chips, which consisted of a huge pile of fries and two very small over cooked pieces of white fish, which set me back 16.95. Still hungry. Nice atmosphere. Staff is pleasant enough, but absurdly overpriced and pretentious menu. Recommend the location for drinks and bar nuts.

I went here a couple a years ago like 2007 had the oysters and garlic fries and calamari! DIVINE and a classy environment felt wonderful! An experience I remember to this day so thank you for that I love their happy hour!!!! Still to this day! My favorite place to go when I don't have the kiddos!

Well, i as i was from out of town, i had to ask the front desk where to go for FRESH fish. She suggested i come here. Boy, was i happy i came. Had fries for a starter. Silly sounding i know, but they were great. Huge pieces of roasted garlic..bay leavesflavor beyond what you think. Then dinner. Ordered the halibut, and it brought up the conversation about what your ast meal would be... This would be it. Great flavor, nice portion and presentation. Delcious in every way. If i am ever within 100 miles of Tacoma, this will be a stop. Desert is on the way. Cant wait!

Really interesting and unique menu! If you want to have a fun food night, go here! I had a clam and noodle soup (forgot the name) and it didnt look too impressive as far as colors go but the flavor blew my mind! Definitely recommend this place!

The Thanksgiving Menu was good. We were seated very quickly upon entering, earlier than our reservations. The appetizers came out fast and our waiter was attentive. The prawns and scallop dishes were amazing. I didn't get the mushroom soup that I initially ordered, and the waiter admitted his mistake and took care of me with a free dessert - including coupon for next visit. I look forward to visiting again to try out the regular menu, perhaps during Happy Hour.

Very good wines by the glass. Nice complement of shareable apps. Been here half a dozen times for lunch or dinner. Entrees are usually spot on but tonight's risotto with scallops addition was mushy and lacked toothsome ness. Hence only four stars. I'll be back though.

Our server was extremely unhelpful, rude and not accommodating to my roommate's food allergies. The food was overpriced. The mac and cheese was greasy. The steak I added to.it was overcooked. I would bot recommend this place.

Just walked out of this place. Asked for a table, but the hostess never returned. I decided to sit in the bar at a hightop. When the waitress came over I asked for a dinner menu and she informed me I could not have one unless I was sitting in the dinning room. A man sitting right at the bar had a salmon dish and another some sort of clan stew. Neither of which were on the bar menu. As I said above just shook my head a walked out. I love when people make it abundantly clear they do not want your business.

We went on a busy Saturday night. Service was a little slow but friendly. Food was good, my steak was overdone but still tasty. Minestrone soup was good, desserts (blondie sundae, cobbler) were delicious. Non-alcoholic soda for kids was super tasty. Loved that they had a wide range of foods on their kid menu. Only drawback was dinner was very long for a 3 year old... I think it was 2 hours long without any specific reason for the delay.

We stopped in at this place for dinner before an 8 pm wedding reception at the Art Museum...only to learn later that the reception included a full catered dinner. Oh well, it was still fun to try out Pacific Grill. We took previous reviewers' advice and just went to the bar to eat. I can confirm that this is indeed the way to go. Happy Hour is basically all day, and their HH menu is top notch, boasting such items as smoked steelhead and fish tacos of the day. There didn't appear to be anything wrong exactly with the dining area, but if you can get great food for a fraction of the price, why wouldn't you? The bar is a bit crowded on a weekend (it seems Tacomans have caught on) but it wasn't anything we couldn't manage. We still got great service, great food and a nice selection at the bar.

Compared to several years ago when the chefs also cooked for the Marriot next door, the food came out in a timely manner and the service was very very good. The duck was tasty and the steak fritas was well seasoned. The appetizer portion of the menu is expanded. Only complaint was the fee for splitting a salad when you order two meals and two sppetizers. One of the better restaurants in Tacom. Well priced

I was very disappointed overall after all of the hype. The service was only mediocre and generally it was very overpriced in my opinion. I had roasted duck and it was very well prepared and delicious but just felt other than the entree everything else was just so so for what they charge. Would not go back because I think there are a lot better places.

Great happy hour with a large menu selection. Make sure you get the Meat Candy, it's dates wrapped in bacon and they're on the happy hour menu! The Skinny Fries are also really good, but they have a lot of garlic in them. The Grilled Cheese might be the best thing on their whole menu. I added a little prosciutto to mine!

My husband and I went here for Valentines Day. Our meal was as good as others we've had in the past.I started with the Smoked Steelhead and he had the Prawn cocktail. Everything was so yummy and fresh. I enjoyed the Filet Mignon with Scallops added. I loved the sides of fingerling potatoes and broccoli too. The broccoli was tender, but not over cooked. My steak was perfectly cooked for my liking, which is rare to medium rare. He enjoyed the Pork Tenderloin which had great seasoning. We shared our food. We ordered dessert too, even though we were full. Celebrating the day meant we should, since we rarely order dessert out. My bread pudding was so delicious. He enjoyed the Brownie sundae. I love the ambiance of this place and the Jazz music playing in the background. The service was very good. Our server was available, but not hovering. We usually reserve coming here for our special occasions and I'm glad we did on this date too! We were very pleased with everything.

One of my favorite dining places. Menu has changed a bit. Had the chicken meatball sandwich with home made potato chips and Asian salad. New to the menu and yummy. For business meetings I usually bring my clients here. For girls night out, this is our favorite hangout on a Friday afternoon. I like it that the menu now has petite portions as well. If not cooking a holiday dinner this is my go to place for thanksgiving dinners. It is a little pricey, but good food and good service is worth the occasion.

Just a very polished and enjoyable experience. Steak was perfectly cooked and above average. Staff were unintrusive which was nice and preferred. Price is on the high side but in line for the food and experience. Planning to go back for lunch one of these days as the location is quite convenient for that.

Place was good, bar menus were a but confusing with the 50% off happy hour menu. No complaints about the food. Don't be disappointed if the items on yelp are not on the menu. It seems they update the menu often.

I was looking for a place to take my wife for our 25th wedding anniversary as we were going to be in the Tacoma area for the night (we live in Seattle). Valet parking is available ($10) but on the weekend, street parking is no problem. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We started with the duck flatbread (awesome). For the main course I ordered the duck breast and was not disappointed. My wife loved the prawn pasta (not sure of the menu name) and had leftovers. With our meal, and 4 drinks, the tab was just over $100. My only concern was the seating. I was seated across from my wife and faced the back brick wall. Maybe small round tables so we could move next to each other would have been better? Other than that, It was everything I expected and we will be back.

I love going here on the weekend and eating off the happy hour menu! It's super classy but not overpriced. They have a wide array of items on the menu and I have yet to find anything I don't like. Dress up a bit, take your significant other out, and enjoy your evening!

My wife and I stopped at pacific grill for dinner and went to the bar to take advantage of the happy hour deals. They have a great selection though prices are quite inflated for the amount you get. In all reality, the price you finally pay is a normal rate. I didn't feel it was a great deal. That said, the fish and chips were good (2 small pieces), the chop salad was great too (the thick bacon sells it!), the Tillamook sliders were overcooked and I would not recommend them though that is what the server suggested. we also had the Rock and Roca blondie which was good but not something I'd swing by for. Usually I'm looking for a treat to blow my socks off. I think there are some better places to hit up in town in my opinion but it's not a bad choice if you are downtown.

If I'm going to pay $100 for dinner I want a fulfilling dinner. I don't need giant portions but well-cooked, decent food would be nice. By the appetizers my boyfriend and I were skeptical about meals but we were still hopeful due to nice reviews here and a nice atmosphere. Meals came and we were disappointed. We got shrimp cocktail which while not bad, was as good as something I could have gotten at the grocery store and sampled some oysters which had no flavor other than salt water. Dinner was linguine with clams and scallops with rice. The linguine is the reason our meal gets two stars. It was the only genuinely tasty thing we had all night. The clam in it were not amazing, I prefered the sauce and noodles of that dish to everything else. The rice was overcooked and I suspect the scallops were as well due to their rubbery texture. The scallops might have been nice if they hadn't been overcooked. We passed on dessert, left still hungry, went home and ate sandwiches.

Nice downtown restaurant that has some beautiful artwork, great service and decent chow. I had the fillet and the waitress said it was grass fed and non antibiotic which were must haves. The salmon app was stellar too. The cocktail I had featured an IPA reduction which was a first for me.

Pacific Grill is top notch every time. The service is first class. The food is delicious and portioned perfectly. The wait staff knows their trade, they know what I'm talking about when I ask for Gluten Free, and the menu's are clearly labeled for Gluten Free and Vegan.

The French fries nirvana were way too salty. I literally had to shake them in the napkin to remove salt. The waiter was great. Very quick to ask if something was wrong our if we didn't like it but that isn't the point... the filet mignon was very tender cooked perfectly per the chef's choice, but yet again over salted. How about the meat loaf wrapped in bacon? Excellent! The Mac n cheese...dry, lacking cheese and what cheese sauce was on it it had a strange texture as if bits of flour or possibly powder parmesan cheese was in it. Again, the waiter was very polite and asked if we wanted it replaced. The best thing was definitely the cute little fried balls of risotto filled with cheese Mmm Arancini. I wouldn't come here again. I was let down and expected much more out of a place like this. This was however my second time... I thought the first visit was a fluke.

We wanted a great restaurant with a variety of options both seafood and American cuisine, the menu offered this. However several members of our party got some form of clams and they were all sandy. I'm sorry but we didn't pay their prices to have sub par food. There menu was unique and sounded very good but several items fell short of the expectations. Also prices were a little inconsistent for example $13 for grilled cheese on the kids menu but you could order a gourmet sandwich off the smaller portion menu for less, really people... Also when desert was ordered items were out and as I've said sounded good but when it came with substitutions it didn't really taste as good as it sounded. Overall our waiter was very good. We felt like it was pricey for what we got.

Always have wanted to come here and since Indochine is closed for awhile we came here. I knew I wouldn't be disappointed with the food. I had the foie gras, steak, fries, and a berry shortcake. All delicious. Staff seemed to pay more attention to the off duty staff or the regulars they knew. That's fine as long as I get my food. Food did take awhile. I'll chalk that up for it being late. The server who brought my food actually almost dropped it and slid my food around to fix it in my view, I think I would've left it or tried to hide touching someone's food. I'd probably not come back anytime soon, but as I said in the beginning... Food was delicious and definitely didn't disappoint me. It was just what I needed that night.

We came here for happy hour. Normally you'd think happy hour as 4-6pm right? No here! Happy hour is all night long until 11pm. NICE! There's plenty to eat on the HH menu - at a minimum though, get the meat candy. So friggen tasty.

Was in town for a work conference, opted out of eating the "catered" Quiznos, and decided to meet my friend here instead! I had the Cuban sandwich. OMG it was delicious!! I've never had one before, and my oh my it was good! The cheese, the meat... perfection! The homemade chips were good too! I had to brag to co-workers about what a fantastic lunch I had, and they all commented on how awful the "catered" lunch was. Soggy sandwiches. Ha! I will be back again, it was delicious!!

I honestly can't believe they have been rated four stars.... If you completely disregard the lack of friendly service and focus solely on the food, one word.... Mediocre. The second star was only because the ambiance is pretty cool. The fried broccoli was probably the best thing we ate, and probably just because I never had it before. I could think of a million other places I'd rather waste $140.

What a place! Went here last night for my Birthday and from the beginning to the end was sheer delight! My husband and daughter got the crabcakes for appetizer and I ate some of the cole slaw underneath it...WOW.! Then we ordered our entree. My honey got the chicken, sweet potato salad, beans, corn on the cob plate. YUM...loved taking samples off his plate, just the right size portion too. oo many places overdo it, but this was just right! Daughter got the Lobstergasm and she was in heaven with the side of asparagus cooked just right and a nice glass of red wine. I had the BLT salad and the blue cheese tater tots. (I cannot eat a lot), and it was a true gastronomic delight! The evening was topped off with great conversation, lovely ambiance and ended up with free parking, which made it all the more a delight!

Tacoma's KING of Happy Hour is Pacific Grill...11:30-10pm Mon-Thur? WOW! Imbibed on a pom drop (At regular price..boo) and finished with a couple of $5 white wine (house). Got the bar menu and we shared the spicy tuna poke (DELICIOUS!), cold pork tenderloin and BBQ pork sliders (PLUS points for sweet potato fries). The restaurant itself is quite posh although did not feel pretentious at all...we came very early for happy hour (~4pm) but saw it started picking up around 6-7pm with a few eye candy here and there making us go DAMN we should have came later...otherwise definitely agree with all the other 3-5 star reviews on here...again depends on your experience on that day at that visit but otherwise, will definitely make repeat stops!

To order off the HH menu, you have to sit in the bar which is extremely narrow and claustrophobic. If you can look beyond feeling like a canned sardine, a decent meal that won't break the bank will be your reward. Just dont expect to be Carrie Underwooded (Blown Away). The cuban was flavorful albeit somewhat generic and the fish n'chips batter was overkilled with an unknown but pungent herb. I did enjoy the deep fried garlic and basil leaf with the shoestring fries. With 1/2 priced entrees, you get half the portion size of the full priced one so dont expect a doggie bag.

Nice little place to go on a date or have a nice dinner with friends. We went there for HH and sat in the bar. It's a tight place to sit as the tables are small and you pretty much have no room to move around. Food was just ok. I ordered the duck sausage and sliders that came with chips and fiancé got the fish and chips with garlic fries. We had the oyster shooters as an appetizer and those were really good. I enjoyed nibbling on the garlic fries. Our server was very patient and friendly with us. He gave us great recommendations on drinks.

Steve and I have not been locals in Tacoma very long. When we discuss restaurants with friends, acquaintances and coworkers it has come up in discussion as to which restaurant is considered the "nice one" in Tacoma. Almost any functional city and town that has more than one restaurant usually has a nice one. Pacific Grill is mentioned as the nice place to go. And indeed it is nice! The atmosphere is hip and the dining room has several very nice glass sculptures. The service was good and friendly....high marks there! Dining was good. I got the Cauliflower 'Steak' which was a cauliflower cut in half and grilled along with a tomato sauce which contained capers, tomatoes and Parmesan breadcrumbs. I also got a salad. It was good but not as fresh as it could be. Cauliflower is a hard veggie and has very little moisture to it. While the flavor was good the dish seemed a little dry. I actually liked Steve's dish a little more. It was a fish entree called the Steelhead. It had a really good sauce with it and some very tasty side veggies. For dessert I had the Rhubarb Claufoutis which was delicious! I was sold on it when it mentioned that Cinnamon Ice Cream came with it! Really a great dessert! Despite having a decent vegetarian dish here at Pacific Grill I would recommend getting a fish entree. I think that is what they do best on...at least with Steelhead entree anyway. The desserts and service was good, warm and friendly! Would I go back? Yes! But I am not sure if it is 'the nice one' restaurant for Steve and myself yet but it was a fun 'screening' nonetheless!

The only time I've been here is for happy hour. They have a great one, I love the food and they have a wide variety on the menu. Happy hour is only available in the bar though, and it can be difficult to get a seat unless you get there early or are willing to wait. We like to hit this place on girls night, so we usually end up waiting a bit with our group. The waiting area is tiny and gets very crowded on weekends. Service has always been pretty decent We've run into a few servers who seemed to be having a bad day, but overall nothing that ruined the experience of those amazing little shoestring garlic fries.

Had the best ribeye of my life here. It's an upper scale fine dining restaurant without the uptight older crowd you would find at say Stanley and sea-forts. Also wasn't outrageously priced like El Gaucho. The staff wAs professional and friendly, the menu was seasonal, local, and unique. My favorite fine dining restaurant.

Certainly the best option if you're staying at the Murano, the Pacific Grill makes it seem like they're in dire need of business with their ridiculous 50% happy hour discount (all day Friday) (but you have to be in the bar area), but it does become quite populated on the weekends, so I don't really see the need. I'm still in favor of it, though. My first visit was just a trio of spreads - white bean hummus, salmon spread, and "faux" gras, consisting of duck and shitake mushrooms. and fruit and some other stuff. I would say that the latter of the three was certainly the most complicated to wrap my head around. Still, the combination of sweet and savory was ultimately enjoyed, and the homemade crackers that went along with these dips (pita in the case of the hummus), was more than enough to tell me there was something special going on here. Oh, also, I had the oyster shooter. And let me tell you, if you are not expecting the liquid of your shooter to be vodka, it can come as quite a shock when you down it in one bite. I don't know if the alcohol actually enhanced the flavor of the seafood, but it's a fun experiment nonetheless. That first visit was on a mid-Friday afternoon. My next visit was slightly more than a week later on a Saturday night, and the change from 'nearly empty' to 'completely packed' was surprising, but I still managed to find a place at the bar. Ramen's in vogue now, though the only place I really saw it while in Tacoma was here, but I nonetheless had a hankering. I wouldn't say the promised ingredients made for as good of a rendition as I was expecting, it was still fun to eat. Pacific Grill and Bite occupy a small monopoly on the fine dining within a mile radius of their location. Which isn't to say there's not equally good food to be found elsewhere, but the vibe and food here are certainly worth a trip if you're in the area, and especially if you happen to arrive during a happy hour.

I have to say, they have added some new items to the menu and I am back being a big fan. You can find anything to meet your taste buds and price range in food, or drink and lively people and service staff. I enjoy my time here. Dont forget to sign up for the Pacific Grill club card. It is True Value !

Service was wonderful and the place is cozy and beautifully decorated. The glass sculptures are amazing. My fillet was tasty but didn't completely resemble a fillet (not thick...not exactly that unique buttery texture). BUT, that said, I didn't note this to our server and happily ate the whole thing, so they couldn't have fixed it if it wasn't what I'd ordered. Delicious apps, sides and nice wine list. I'll be back.

They serve meat candy, lol. It was ok but kinda weird looking like some sort of burnt vienna sausage. The raw oysters and oyster shooters were very good. The steak I had was almost amazing. The service was shitty though; a simple hey you need anything would have been better.

They probably have the best happy hour around...for food that is. I can't vouch for the alcohol part but the plates they have on HH menu is so incredibly delicious and at a great price. Cheeseburger sliders...order it medium and it was nice and juicy. tasty spread to completely the slightly sweetness of the buns. Add bacon! Served with a side of garlic rosemary fries. They are whole cloves of deep fried garlic. Blue cheese tater tots...very good but the cheese was a little too overpowering and salty for my taste. Mac and cheese - this would go on "The Best Thing Hien's ever eaten list" and believe me, I eat! Beautiful blend of gouda, cheddar and fontina with sprinkles of butternut squash to balance the saltiness. Carmel creme brulee...I ordered one to share and really didn't want to share it Happy Hour: Monday - Thursday 11 AM to 10:30 PM. Friday 11:30 AM to 11:00 PM, Saturday 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the bar.

Well, this place does not live up to the reviews I have read. The only real positive was the service. I went with my girlfriend for Happy Hour and the food was mediocre at best. We got the ahi poke, Cold pork tenderloin and the mac & cheese. The poke was definitely not good. I grew up in Hawaii and have had my fair share of poke in as many ways as you can imagine and this was probably the worst I have ever had. The best part about it was the sauce on the plate. The cold pork was a great idea just not followed through, fairly flavorless pork with an unpalatable hot mustard sauce and another forgettable sauce with a bit of fresh mint. The best of the food was the mac and cheese which was about average but still not worth the happy hour price of about 7 dollars. All in all I can't recommend this place and would not return especially for the full price.

This review is for happy hour, only. I have eaten in the restaurant about twice a year, and the food, service, and atmosphere was above average. People write-up this place as a great happy hour, but it really isn't. They list the bar menu as full price, but happy hour runs the same hours as the restaurant, so most of the bar menu is a half-price. Therein is the problem. If I am going to order a "Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich" at $12, I expect a pretty great sandwich--except that it is not a $12 sandwich. It is not even a $6 sandwich, which is the perpetual happy hour price. I expected a gooey, cheesy sandwich. I ordered it with the prosciutto, for an additional $1.50 (additions are not discounted at happy hour). I could not taste the cheese. The prosciutto was one slice, or maybe half of a slice since it was happy hour. I could not taste it and only knew it was there because of the faint pink color between the slices of bread. The Cuban Sandwich is 5 cents short of $15, but half price at happy hour, but it is not half of a $15 sandwich. The last time we tried happy hour, which is ironically the last time we will try happy hour, we had the fish and chips. At $16.95, one would expect a decent serving of fish and chips, but wait, it is happy hour and everything is half priced but served in miniature. Three thumb sized pieces of fish served over French fries with an annoying amount of spice branches that need to be picked-out before eating. The cloves are garlic are very good, though. The accompanying sauce had zero flavor. I asked for vinegar; a normal request for an order of fish and chips. It is akin to asking for ketchup for French fries, in my opinion. My husband was done with his fries by the time the vinegar arrived--possibly slow service and/or an example of how small the portions are--but the crème de la crème of the experience: They charged me 25 cents for the vinegar. Pacific Grill: If you are going to list $16.95 fish and chips on your menu, but discount them at happy hour, then have $16.95 fish and chips. Do not create an entire fake menu. Make a menu, justify your prices with quality food, and stick to it. Patrons: If you want cheap food, which really is "cheap" food, then the Pacific Grill happy hour is for you. If you want good food at inexpensive prices, then try one of the many other happy hour options. That said, Pacific Grill is a solid choice for a nice meal in the main dining area.

Enjoyable but nothing special that really stands out here. The food is delicious, don't get me wrong, but when you pay for ambiance, there isn't much. I suggest stopping in during happy hour, I believe they have it all day on Sunday. Service was good, and my party thoroughly enjoyed their meal. We had to try each other's food because it looked so good, and I can surely recommend the scallops, steak salad, pork tenderloin (order it medium), and the filet mignon (medium rare). Start off with the crab cakes or the wild mushroom pate. All go great with a carbernet savignon ;)

Fabulous food and service. We ordered the ahi and the scallops. Wow! We ask if they would split a glass of wine for us, and our server brought us 2 large pours. Sweet! We would definitely go back. Chris and Stuart

The happy hour menu provides 5 STAR food at 2 star prices. Run, don't walk!!! I have waited over a week to post this to allow for my euphoria to die down, so I can now safely make the statement at the end of my review. Drinks All three bar drinks were amazing. The smokey martini puts a new twist on a classic drink. The urban bourbon is another taste explosion of orange and maker's mark. Gentleman Jack and ginger - who comes up with these brilliant ideas? Appetizers The blue cheese and house-made tater tots is a marriage of flavors that rivals peanut butter and chocolate. However, the portion size was a bit small, in my opinion. The onion rings "Paltrow-style" live up to the billing of "best onion rings in the US" bestowed upon them by the New York Times. Simply the best I have ever had - the light batter subtly compliments the sweet onion and the dipping sauce makes for a flavor explosion. Very fair portion size. "Good Eats" The sirloin cheeseburger sliders were very nicely done. I have had slightly better tasting lamb sliders elsewhere, but they were over twice the price for a smaller portion size, and they didn't include a side of fries. For $6, the sliders at Pacific Grill are an amazing value. The Bahn Ni BBQ pulled pork sandwich was quite good - a good balance of spicy protein and cool vegetables on a magnificent roll, served with an ample portion of refreshing slaw. Dessert The Blondie sundae was a HUGE portion of decadence, featuring house-made ice cream over a breathtaking brownie with goodies drizzled all over. The cookie plate, although small in size, is huge on flavor. Each cookie is a small work of artistic flavor brilliance. ALL of this cost under $60 - although I did leave a very large tip for the impeccable service. The perfect balance of being there for your needs without being intrusive. Each "course" arriving within moments of the last plate being cleared within moments of our finishing the previous course. Glancing at the other recent reviews here, I can only say that I had a fantastic experience at the bar for happy hour. I will come here exclusively for nights out for the foreseeable future, as our recent evening at the Pacific Grill was simply the best restaurant experience of my life - at a bar. I'm extremely excited about sampling what the dining room has to offer in the very near future.

I loooove love love their ahi tuna tartare!! Omg it's so good. I usually order this whenever I go. I don't believe it's on the happy hour menu but I order it anyway because I know they have it. I love that you can go in the lounge area and just chill with friends with good stiff drinks and yummy food. Why 4 stars instead of 5? I wish they didn't have "excluded" items on their happy hour menu. The whole point of a happy hour menu is to eat food that's smaller and cheaper than the regular menu (which is fabulous and I highly recommend).

Who doesn't love this place? Happy hour all day and night at the bar! This makes their food pretty cheap! The mixed drinks are not cheap but good + strong. I swear they have the best cuban sandwich in town! Not greasy, good mustard, right bread - a cuban done right, which is hard to find! The Caipiranhas are great too. It is a tough drink to find and they do it right. Seating is comfortable at the bar (compfy chairs with backs). Abiance is obviously upscale. Tough to find a table or seat on weekend nights though. Parking is not great either, but that is typical for downtown Tacoma.

I've been here twice now, and boy do I love it. I went for my anniversary last year and it was quite good. My wife had the tenderloin steak and couldn't get enough of it. I got the pot roast (winter menu) and it was easily the best pot roast I've ever had. Tender, flavorful, the veg was good. We went again last night for my Wife's birthday. It did not disappoint. Our waitress, Leah I think, was great. She was very attentive with cocktails and water, but once our food arrived she left us alone to eat, after asking us if everything was good of course. And she asked the best question to my wife, "is your steak rare enough?" giving us the impression she would happily have it recooked if it weren't. And they actually cook it a perfect rare, not a medium because people like to order a rare steak, but don't actually like a rare steak. My wife had the tenderloin again, she said it's the only steak she gets out she's actually happy with. It was great, I got a crab, mint, scallop, shrimp pasta dish. It was quite tasty, no overwhelming sauce which is usually the standard for seafood pasta dishes. The sides were great too, a seasonal mac and cheese (yeah I ordered a side of pasta with my pasta, what's it to you?) and the potato's gratan. The specialty cocktails were really good too. Not a cheap place if you go all out like we tend to do. But I saw a lot of happyhour food going out, and it looked amazing, so we'll be back for that soon I think. Well worth the traffic up from Olympia on a Friday evening. Highly recommended.

Love. Went here for a business dinner in July 2011. Started with the Pom Drop; in large quantities those things could kick your ass before you even knew it. So tasty and a martini...dangerous! I had the salmon for dinner, which was awesome. I am not often able to clean my plate, but I did that night. We also got the potato gratin, which was FANTASTIC. I had to hold myself back from getting the tater tots or the sweet potato fries (yeah I like carbs) but will definitely try them next time. Overall a great meal, and my first time dining in Tacoma. I'll be back as soon as I can get up to the area again!

It was fine. I have learned yet again that fancy restaurants are not for me. I dont like paying $100.00 for pretty good food, and when I leave I am never full. I had the duck, it was ok, small, and a little dry. My wife had the Tuna. It was super rare (which was fine), and pretty good, but small portions. Look I would have been just as happy to go to the Old Spaghetti Factory and spend $40.00 with a Bottle of wine. Apparently happy hour is the jam though. Oh and our waitress was weird... really weird. Oh BTW 2 small pieces of bread?? What is that?? Leave the loaf and walk away.

My first visit to Pacific Grill was last night. I can't believe I haven't been here before. Hubby and I just moved back to Tacoma and we are always on the hunt for a local hang out. I believe we found it, and on the first try. Well known for their happy hour, we had to dig in. The clams were delicious and plentiful. I was surprised at how large the clams were and how many were served. I could have eaten the whole plate myself and considered it dinner. Alas, I had to share. Then we moved on to tater tots with blue cheese. Childish sounding, I know, but absolutely delicious. The portion for this dish was appetizer size which is just right. You do not want to hurt yourself on this rich and creamy snack. Next came the Ahi poke. This was not my favorite. It was okay, possibly even good but considering how well they did on the other dishes I'm surprised that this appetizer was lack-luster. The next thing we ordered was duck sausage sliders with homemade chips. This was the surprise punch that one discovers by ordering just about everything on the hh menu. The chips themselves were just short of addicting. If they had placed a dipping sauce or even a side of the cheese sauce from the taters, OH MY OH MY I would be ranting to everyone that would listen. Okay, I rant anyway. The sliders themselves were flavorful, original and once again, just the right size. We shared all of this yummy goodness between three of us. Let's get on to service. So surprised to read the review of someone complaining regarding service. Our waiter was super attentive and helpful. He went out of his way to be prompt and informative about the food even though the "after work crowd" did a great job of filling up the restaurant FAST. When hubby walked in and the waiter was not in our area, the bartender greeted him and let him know that someone would attend to him in just a few minutes. Sure enough our waiter appeared promptly and helped hubby decide which beer to try. I look forward to a few more hh dates but I am really looking forward to having dinner at Pacific Grill.

This is THE best fine dining restaurant in the South Sound. The menu is diverse & interesting & it's hard to choose from the amazing steaks, fresh seafood & even vegetarian entrees! Every dish is so layered with amazing flavors you can tell this world class chef is passionate about food. His dessert chef is incredible & it would be a mistake not to try one of her addicting creations. The lounge/bar has a fantastic atmosphere & the best happy hour period!

I order from here about once a week from work and they are so helpful with doing separate orders and having everything ready by the time I get there. Happy Hour after work has unbeatable prices! Food is delicious; I have tried a variety of dishes and I have yet to be disappointed.

Four of us went for a late brunch on Easter Sunday. Service was fine, food was solid but not exemplary. We shared the fried green tomatoes and a fava bean salad to start, and I went for the spring frittata as a main. I can be a bit picky on my egg dishes, but I felt like they had nailed it on this one. I also had a big bite of the French toast--good but not memorable. Overall the restaurant and food were a pleasant context for our conversation, not the centerpiece of our visit. I don't think my coffee or my water were ever completely empty, and I drink a lot of both. On balance: good meal, no complaints.

Staff was good and food was great. The inside interior had a jazzy feel. I went to pacific grill on a romantic date so I was expecting more intimacy for the price. Walk in sometimes have a long wait so make your reservations a head of time.

This was a very pleasant dining experience, even if it was a tad predictable. I really liked the atmosphere. Hip and trendy. Exposed brick, tall ceilings but still cozy. Maybe a bit too cozy....Are there no nice restaurants in Tacoma with a functioning A/C? The service was prompt and friendly. The waiter pointed out featured items and their new variable portion option for some dishes. Cocktails were nice and stiff. The Old Fashioned was made with High West Rye (High West is a personal fave). For dinner she had the clam linguine and loved it. Lots of clams, rich broth, garlic, bread crumbs. A sure fire winner even in the smaller portion size. I had the Steak Frites. Normally I would've chosen the ribeye, but I miscalculated and ate a later lunch than I wanted. And I love Steak Frites so- win win. This version was pretty good; basil and rosemary fried along with the fries, and a basic demi glace with the steak. My only two disappointments were the warmth of the dining room and that my steak was cut for me. I don't understand the purpose of this presentation. I feel like they're trying to hide what cut of meat the steak came from. I'll eat here again if someone wants to go- my wife is pretty interested in returning for happy hour, but I wasn't blown away by anything. These guys do what they do well, nothing more.

Sorry to say, not really worth the price. Our ticket (before tip) was $112 for two people. We left there still hungry from the tiny portions. Yep food was good, just not worth the price. Menus were dirty & sticky with something, napkin & cups had food or something stuck to them, & the atmosphere wasn't all it was hyped up to be. Won't waste my money here again.

My wife and I came here on our first date night in our new home of Tacoma. After trying a bunch of other restaurants this is one of our favorites. I love seafood and it seems everything here is nice and fresh. I had scallops that were cooked excellent. They have an insane happy hour so be sure to try that out sometime. We are looking forward to coming back and trying more things. I only wish there were a few other fun places close by that were walkable that way we could make a whole night of it but def not a deal breaker.

I would give Pacific Grill five stars easily if I could get in lately. I have been here dozens of times, but lately the bar is always jam packed (once I waited like 45 min just to sit in the bar) and you can't get a table in the restaurant as a back up unless you have reservations. So I'm happy for them that they are doing so well. Less happy for me since I want to just walk in and be fed. Waiting for the bar can be a real pain, since sometimes people are so happy and having a nice time that they sit for hours. All of this being said, I enjoy their half price all day happy hour. The sliders and garlic fries are never a miss. And the house wine at $5 a glass is pretty decent. Atmosphere is good, as well as the service. It is on my top couple of places for dinner in TTown. Or it was before the last few times. When after the considerable effort I put into finding parking I either had to wait a long time or leave to go somewhere they could get me in.

Since my last visit a couple of months ago, PG has shifted to a new menu which allows a lot more flexibility in how to build a meal. This now offers the ability to get several sizes of a given dish, allowing to do everything from traditional entrees to a series of shared small plates for a couple or group. Dish quality remains good, though the seafood/fish selections were a little on the sparse side. The highlight for us was a smoked steelhead chirashi, which was delcious and well presented. We went on a Tuesday night, which was half-price bottle night for wine, which is the only thing that makes the bottle price acceptable since they run ~400% of lower end retail. Service was quite good, with dishes arriving well-timed. Overall recommended, but a little spendy for what you get.

This place is really great - fantastic happy hour deals! Do note, though, that because happy hour is so popular, the bar area is often crowded and therefore unlikely that you'll find space for a large group. I went for a friend's birthday, and it was difficult to find a space that all 6 of us could sit in the bar.

First time in Tacoma, and I'm soooo glad a friend recommend this place. It is by far one of the best happy hour places I've ever been. And I travel a lot. Yes, its busy. Cause it's soooo freakin' delicious. Everything I had was like "sex in my mouth!" Some things may not meet your standards or satisfy your palate. However, with the array of options on the bar menu or dinner menu I can't imagine you'd not find a couple things that blow you're f***ing mind. Portions were perfect. Scale of 1-10: service 8 atmosphere 8 (no TV's for sport buffs) food 9.5 Thank you Pacific Grill for being without a doubt one of the best!

I was in Tacoma on business and Pacific Grill was recommended. It was just okay. The appetizers were pretty small. The bleu cheese tater tots were underwhelming and that was one of the dishes I heard was awesome. Also, when I'm paying $11+ for a cocktail I expect a better quality maraschino cherry...sorry! Everyone says the HH is awesome. I will have to give them another shot...

Finally got to try this place after years of driving by and saying: What a nice building, I bet the food is good. The place is nice on the inside as well, perfect for a date or dinner with close friends. We ordered the mushroom pâté to start and some Chardonnay the server suggested, by the way, I like that the server wasn't suggesting expensive wines and actually knew what she was talking about. Anyway, the mushroom appetizer was delicious! It was a smallish portion but decent for an appetizer and came with tiny rice crackers. We both were left wanting more. For entrees, I ordered the $28 4oz filet mignon (do not order this if you're hungry) I should've known it would be tiny but I was hoping the scalloped sweet potato and vegetable sides would be bigger. The sweet potatoes were minuscule and I really wasn't impressed with the flavor and the broccoli was just steamed. My steak was a little overcooked, easy to do probably since it was tiny. It was replaced promptly but by then dinner had lost its luster. My husband got the Kansas City something steak, it was $38 and came with horseradish mash potatoes and mushrooms. I tasted everything and it was very good but he said for the price it had too much grizzle but that might be the cut of meat, it was tasty to me. Dessert was a delicious cinnamon creme brûlée. Overall our experience was good, we knew it would be on the pricier side, service was very good, polite, fast and we will probably go back but for happy hour at the bar.

I ate here on a sat night and it wasn't really packed. I ordered oyster shots and a risotto. The environment is classy and modern. I wasn't too fond of the risotto but I loved their oysters. I could not stop eating it. I will definitely come back for the oysters and to try other items on their menu.

OH HEAVENS. How have I not reviewed Pacific Grill yet? Hands down, my favorite Happy Hour in Tacoma. Why, you may ask? Well. Because it's Happy Hour ALL DAY, EVERY DAY in the bar. Yes. All day, every single day. My favorite dishes: Meat Candy (because it's something and something and something else wrapped in BACON, hello), the Grilled Cheese with prosciutto (to die for!), Chicken Tonkatsu Salad (I don't know if I spelled it right, but it's delicious. So get it.), Sliders, Mac & Cheese, and their fries are the best... sweet potato or regular. The regular fries are loaded with rosemary and other herbs. Just amazing. Come here, but don't bring a group. The bar is small. I've never had a problem getting seated until a couple weeks ago, on an oddly busy Wednesday evening. Normally we get in with no problem. This bar is best for parties of 2-4.

I've been hearing rave reviews of Pacific Grill for some time now... I finally had the chance to check it out. Now I've only been here 1 1/2 times. The first time was fantastic, the second time we didn't get very far because a friend forgot her ID. The server rudely took her water away the minute she began digging through her purse looking for her ID which was a little shocking. No need to be rude about it. But back to the first time... Happy Hour all day, every day in the bar. It's not great seating for groups and always busy, but we got lucky and found space for 7 of us. Here are my picks: Wedge Salad, Meat Candy (bacon wrapped roasted dates), Mac & Cheese, and Grilled Cheese... I can't wait to go back and try more options. The menu is huge and almost everything is 1/2 price for HH.

Pretty good. I didn't leave completely amazed, but I wasn't disappointed either. Their food is good, and I came for their infamous oyster shooters. For one, I do not like oysters period. The fact that I could enjoy their oyster shooters with relative ease says something. But I'm still not in love with oysters. Service is good, and it's worth going for their happy hour. Decor is very nice. If you want to impress your date with some fine dining, this is probably a really good place to take her.

Good Food, Reasonable Prices, Helpful Staff made my dinner great! After getting seated, I started with the Asian Chicken Salad. It was a great starter, and worked well with the seasonal beer (happy hour prices). I had a half order of the fillet mignon which was cooked properly and very flavorful. For dessert, I tried the bread pudding which was also great. If I could rate this as a 4.5, I would. Deduct .5 a star for the 3 different menus (Dinner, Bar, Specials) in front of me when I sat down. It made choosing a bit confusing.

Wonderful food and good wine selection. Try the bacon jam if you get a chance! Service is good but can be a bit slow at times. Portions are not huge and there are plenty of good options to choose from. This is at the top of my restaurant list when I visit Tacoma.

Let me be yet another yelper who raves about the Pacific Grill's happy hour. I love this place for two reasons 1) Their menu is extensive and varied enough for whomever I want to take there (be it my in-laws or my best girl friends). 2) The food never disappoints...it is always good! Try the Cuban sandwich, worth that happy hour price and delicious!

Usually have a great experience here.... Although considering the fact that even with the great happy hour deal my bill was $30 I was shocked to see that they charged me for a side of ketchup. Seems that for the amount of money people are spending any condiments should be free. Never have I been charged for a side of ketchup, might seem like a silly complaint, but nevertheless I was shocked

My husband and I were house hunting over Thanksgiving weekend, and needed a place in the SeaTac area to have Thanksgiving dinner with some friends. There were a number of restaurants offering Thanksgiving dinner, but Pacific Grill had the most appealing menu and the best reviews. We started out at the bar while we waited for our table (we had a reservation but they were running about ten minutes behind). I ordered a mai tai (which I find that most bartenders outside of San Francisco don't seem to know how to make), and my husband ordered an old fashioned (which most bartenders born after 1920 don't know how to make). Both of our drinks were PERFECT, and made for a great little pre-dinner mini-happy hour. They started our dinner off with this cheese / crackers / crudités platter that had this cheesy spread that was TO DIE FOR. That was followed by a choice between a caesar salad and a parsnip soup. We both went for the soup, which was thick and sweet and wonderful. For the meal, my husband ordered a steak, while I ordered short ribs. Both orders came with stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce. I'm not generally a big meat person (I'm more of a fish girl - please see the 234098 sushi restaurants I've reviewed on here), but my short ribs were amazing. I was so full by that point that I was only able to finish one, so I took the other one "home" (aka. back to the hotel) for a midnight snack. (But I of course had room for dessert - a fantastic pumpkin creme brulee that was served in a martini glass and that I devoured within minutes.)

This was our second time dining here, the first was on a Valentine's Day a couple of years ago and we were not impressed. We decided to give it another try and were very impressed by the food, and the wait staff. Our waitress was Taryn and she did a very good job. We had the Asian Bar-B-Que pork appetizer, which was very good, the BLT salad, which was amazing. My wife had the Angry Pasta and it was the highlight of the evening, it was simply delicious. I had the Kansas City Steak and it was cooked perfectly, the mashed potato's were devine and the mushroom sauce was wonderful. We also had the bread pudding desert and it was top notch like the rest of the meal. All in all my new favorite place to dine in Tacoma.

Tasty, quality food here. I've only been for happy hour, which is 1/2 price food!, and it was great. Even the sides were delicious (I highly recommend the sweet potato fries and garlic fries), not oily at all, and not skimping on good ingredients. There were whole garlic cloves and full strands of herbs roasted with my fries. YUM! Service is friendly, and everything is super clean and fancy. Not the place I would expect myself to go to considering its shwank level, but pretty good all around. I'll be back for happy hour to try some more!

I love the food here and the fact that they have happy hour all day but the wait staff was very rude. I continue to go here because we always have good meals and drinks but I am always a bit annoyed by how long it takes to get helped. The last visit our waiter was very rude to me b/c I was asking for a drink they didn't make anymore and got a bit annoyed that I was asking him to see if the bartender would make me something similar. He did it but not after making a snarky comment to me. Overall, we love the place but the service could be much better.

I don't understand why everyone seems to be so enamored with Pacific Grill. I went here with my husband and another couple on a Monday night. The other couple ordered two appetizers, which came out fairly quickly but our entrees took forever! It was not crowded at all in the restaurant, perhaps 3 other tables were occupied at the same time. On the topic of entrees, I ordered the Dirty Rice, because it was one of the vegan offerings. This dish is definitely overpriced. $15 for 1 field roast sausage link, rice & beans? You've got to be kidding me. In general, the portions seemed small for the price. My husband got the Angry Pasta and said it was ok in flavor, but again not worth the price. Maybe we will try out Pacific Grill again, but I feel like you're paying more for an experience here than really good food.

LOVE this place. The meat candy is fantastic and the tuna is to die for. Love the pork sliders and you really can't beat their happy hour. It is an outstanding place. Decor is gorgeous. Modern without abandoning the great architechture of the building. Valet is wonderful, restrooms are sparkly, and the waitstaff is refreshingly professional. I've never eaten anything I didn't like there, and I've been numerous times. Fantastic job, PG and Gordon, tres bien!

We went here for our anniversary and I was pleasantly surprised. The bleu cheese tater tots are really, really good especially if you love bleu cheese, the crab cakes are also a must. We got a really great deal on our favorite champagne for the bottle. Our waiter was really attentive but not too buggy. My hubby thinks he was flirting with me lol. I had the pork and mashed potatoes, my hubby had steak and potatoes really great dishes. We got a dessert to share and the waiter took it off of our tab for our anniversary. I got a little sick after we ate and he brought me some delicious peppermint tea which was really helpful. We will come here again!

The salmon sliders and white wine were perfect at the end of a long day. The homemade chips were good, but not the best I've had. They would've been better as hot fries.

Delicious food!! Interesting atmosphere... fine dining with a laid back feel. Faux Gras and Beef Carpacio are excellent as is the basic Steak Frites!! WOW.. love it! Can't wait to go back. Try the Corpse Revivor for a unique beverage.

The food at Pacific Grill is awesome, and I have been several times and had a good experience so I thought I would take hubby for a nice New Year's Eve meal. I understand it was a very busy night but I was disappointed and won't go back. We were given a menu and I asked if there were specials. I was rudely told the menu is a special one for New Years. From then on we were treated with disdain. I wasn't aware I needed to impress the waiter. We spent one hundred dollars and the portions were minuscule. Hubby got two shrimp on a tiny bowl of pasta. I had a tiny steak on top of seriously a two inch by two inch piece of potato with no veggie side. Our food was so slow in coming we didn't order dessert. I understand fine food is expensive but at least make us feel fed. Not a good experience. I will add that I was very impressed and appreciated Pacific Grill trying to make my bad experience on New Year's Eve better and I have improved from two stars to three, but once again the waitress had no sense of humor, I was asked to change my well done beef order to medium as the chef would be upset and she came over a couple of times to make sure we knew how to enter the tip in correctly as my friend and I had split the bill in an odd way which made sense to us. Again thanks to Pacific Grill management for your attentiveness, but your wait staff once again let me know it is an honor to spend money at your establishment.

Came here on a recommendation and was a little thrown off because quite frankly it has a steakhouse feel but none the less the food was great and so was the service. I had the cassoulet, seriously who has cassoulet on a regular menu anymore? And it was moist and tender, the duck was. Overall a very enjoyable experience. It would be nice if they post their happy hour menu so I can convince others to come for a quick bite.

Initially I had the Happy Hour, which is definitely a 5 star experience. The Staff is also great and very friendly. The 2 star comes from the dining experience of the resturant. I recently celebrated a birthday here and it was quite expensive. The dinner menu was very limited and expensive, not worth the quaility and quantity of the food. The service is very slow (although my waiter was very nice). Beware they also charge a 2.50 cake serving fee per customer. This resturant is an excellent place to eat at for happy hour, but don't waste your time or money for the dinner options. I would much rather go to Adriatic Grill or Stanley and Seaforts for dinner.

My wife and I don't get to Tacoma much, but the Pacific Grill may change that. We loved the ambience, creative menu, outstanding service and delicious selections. Had the faux gras, onion rings, tuna poki and the Asian chicken salad. All were well above average and the tuna poki was on par with the stuff we get every year in Maui. Faux gras was exquisite, great texture and flavor. The Mr. Price was a strong and creative cocktail, gin and scotch with a piece of orange zest. Loved it. House wines were great selections. What else can I say, check it out and take advantage of the generous happy hour, seems like it is pretty much always on in the bar. Highly recommended! Update - just went 3/2/15 Pacific Grill comes through again! We have been several times now and have always had a fantastic experience. This time we brought our 20 month old. We were a little nervous that when we didn't see a kids menu it meant we probably should have found a sitter, but the server offered to do butter/cheese noodles, which were a huge hit for him. Plus we had an ipad with his favorite cartoon on it, so all went well. I had a petite filet on arugula with a spoon full of caviar on top - amazing and perfectly prepped. My wife had the scallops on the spaghetti squash bake (think hash brown) it was delicious. My dad and step mom had the Pork and clam linguine respectively. The clams were really beautifully prepared and tasted great to match. It's a must visit every time we are in Tacoma!

This is my "go to" restaurant for business lunches in Tacoma. The food is always great and the wait staff are attentive w/o being disruptive. They have an amazing cobb salad!!! I go here a lot during the week because I can walk from my office. I don't go here as much on the weekends because parking can be a bit of a pain.

My husband and I have been to the Pacific Grill several times in the last six months. It has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants in Tacoma. The appetizers are delicious, we especially like the clams and the raw tuna with avocado. Our favorite entrees are the risotto and the salmon, but we have never had a bad meal here. They have a lovely wine list too, and we particularly like their ice wines which are great to share with a group for dessert. Sometimes on weekends, the restaurant can get a but noisy, but the staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a great happy hour, too. I would highly recommend this place!

Woop, Woop!!! I have been dying to try out this place and finally got the chance when my girlfriend decided to have her birthday bash here:) Upon entering the restaurant, the decor is so classy, yet inviting... The bar is this huge curved counter top that seems to cover the whole right side of the establishment. Being that this was a birthday party I was being opened minded on the service knowing this would be a pretty large and rowdy crowd:) True to form the service was IMPECABLE!!! As I glanced the menu, I reminded myself that everything was 50% off!!! I don't think I have ever seen such a extensive Happy Hour menu, I can say that only a few things were excluded but who cares when you have like 20 other choices:) Not only was the food amazing but so were the drinks and I just knew that was what was going to kill the deal but when I got my bill, I was suprisingly delighted to see the the outcome! So cannot wait to go again and try some of the goodies out:) I will definately be back Pacific Grill!

All day happy hour, nice service, and fantastic food. Yes, the entire extensive bar menu is half-off during happy hour. And right now their happy hour is all the time. Crab puppies - Holy amaze-balls, these were delicious. Meat candy - it was good, but other yelpers have over-hyped these bacon-wrapped dates. They're basically a mini heart-attack on a toothpick. If that's what you're going for. Dragon wings - good size, decent flavor. Cheese plate - yum! I had the pom drop cocktail, which was good but a tad too sweet. Servers were super friendly, never forgot anything we ordered (which was a lot of food and drinks), and didn't mind that we kept moving around the bar area to get optimal seating for our group. House white wine was yummy. Minor gripe - very limited selection of draft beers.

Wait, a minute Todo, are we still in Tacoma?! Quality food. Nice decor. The ceiling is somewhat industrial, and the seating contemporary. Lighting, dark. Just in case you want to kiss your plate, without others noticing. That's what the classy joints do, create ambience and privacy. Yes, sir. I'v been here for mother's day brunch. Oh joy! Thick beautiful bacon. Bacon gets such a bad reputation. Sad what prejudices are doing to America. I don't generally like buffet style, this buffet was almost akin to the Wynn or Bellagio. Almost. Berry, Berry, good. I've been here for dinner, and we had a salad with warm bacon dressing. Excuse me, I'm drooling. Don't prejudge bacon, it's just not right. Steaks were actually cooked how I ordered them, medium. That rarely happens. Hee hee...medium...rare(ly)...never mind. The roast beef OMG, I never understood why roast beef was considered an American staple, now I know. As I've mentioned before, salmon is not one of my favorite items, but it was delectable. The veggies that accompanied it were the star. They were just so flavorful and it's obvious, that they are not low cal. My fav thing about this place is the happy hour. Wasn't crazy about the drinks, but the happy hour choices, somebody turn down the lights! Meat Candy. Please try this! The sliders and fries, steak and eggs (which is not happy hour priced) is so worth the splurge. the meat is JESUS. Butter tender, with caviar, and cream fraische, turn down the lights!!!! I need to lick my plate! Don't get the bahn mi, or their version of it. But other than that, most things are money (A little Tacompton lingo for ya).

  • Paul S.

Over-hyped. Service was good and friendly. Had 3 entrees: Cuban sandwich - Filling but uninspired - had better. Duck sausage sliders - pretty tasty if small. Bahn MI -overpriced, soggy veggies, unseasoned and bland. The home made potato chips that came with the meals were good, big, and crispy! Not great - not bad. for 38$ plus tip... ... Was contacted by a manager the same day I posted this review and he was very concerned that I didn't have a fantastic experience and did everything he could do to make it right. Although I haven't managed to go back yet, this kind of quality customer service makes a big difference in how I view an establishment - well done! I Will ad to or edit this review once I have had a chance to go back.

PacGrill was one of my first HH favorites, after turning 21. It's great that they have HH all day everyday, free parking and a pretty large menu. Like other restaurants I go to, I've pretty much tried most of their bar menu and I'm a fan. (Minus their noodlebar menu). I Love their garlic fries with whole cloves, cheese toast, and all their desserts! I don't think they serve it anymore but their creme brulee is what kept me coming back. The other great thing about this place is that they change their menu I think seasonally so theres always something new to try.

  • R T.

The bar menu is way overpriced.! 12.00 for cheese toast! You get 5 or six small baggette slices of toast with tomato basil sauce and cheese. Asian salad is more like WASABI HAPPY salad but the portion is sad for 13.00 The salad is served on a small rectangular appetizer plate. 13.00 for six drummetts....YIKES!! Its a nice place but not that nice. They have happy hour bar prices but still $6.00 for tiny pieces of toast is still a joke.

  • MIKAYLA B.

This is the best food ever! The 50% happy hour makes the food somewhat reasonably priced. I love the - Asian chicken salad which is like panko chicken on top of coldslaw like salad Chicken sandwich with homemade potato salad Yummy, yummy!

  • Erin R.

I'm sure that this 4-star review will easily bump to 5-stars as soon as I return! Happy Hour ALL DAY LONG (50% off most food items)- in the bar and bistro tables. Perfect for a couple, a little bit trickier for a four-top (you will have to wait for a bit), but worth the wait! Try these items: *blue cheese tater tots (house-made) *tuna poke *cheeseburger sliders with bacon jam *cuban sandwich *Asian chicken salad (don't remember the fancy name of it) Drink up: Bee's Knees... I'm not really sure what it means when old people exclaim, "That's the bee's knees", but it is usually said with enthusiasm, so I will go there: Pacific Grill is the bee's knees!

I've eaten at this restaurant in just about every city in the US. Flavors.....barely ok. Atmosphere.....corporate and predictable. Service.....what service? I had to beg for a second slice of bread! At this price point, drive to Seattle.

The food is good. Nothing I would put as a must try, however I haven't yet found a lot of amazing places in Tacoma.... (so if there is one please tell me). I have been in twice. Sat at the bar both times. Service is friendly and they are used to the loan travelers such as myself. If you are in downtown Tacoma and wish to stay downtown this is my suggested place. Note: was voted best candlelight dinner in town. They use fake candles. This makes me happy.

Happy Hour is recommended. You can't beat 50% some of the foods and discounts on the booze. Surprisingly low number of customers on a Saturday night. I was there after 9pm. I had the Cheeseburger Sliders off of the bartender's recommendation. I also opted for the option of adding avocado and applewood bacon, which turned out to be a good choice. Fries were excellent: garlic herb. I'll head back again during the Happy Hour to take advantage of the great food and prices! At the risk of lowering the ambiance of the place, I would recommend placing some LCD TVs above the bar. There is space there and would liven up the place some, especially during the Happy Hour.

I haven't been here for proper food, but I have had happy hour here. It actually is a pretty good deal considering the bar menu is half off. I had the onion rings, meat candy, and the Godzilla noodles (has all of the meats added to it). While I am definitely not an onion ring fan I definitely liked the onion rings here. They aren't too greasy and the sauce they give you is to die for. It is basically crack. You could get arrested for pushing that stuff. The meat candy (roasted dates, apple-smoked bacon, reggiano) was only five pieces I believe but they were incredible! My friend used to make something similar for me when she lived in Seattle and I used to gobble them up so I was very happy to find something similar at Pacific Grill. The noodles were just OK. I would suggest sticking with some of the other items on the menu. On top of the great food the interior of Pacific Grill is stunning. They have huge exposed brick walls, incredible glass windows over the bar, and some of the coolest lighting fixtures I have ever seen in a restaurant. I wish the shelf they put the alcohol on at the bar was nicer but that was the only letdown about the interior. As a warning though, this place seems to be make out central for older (40-50 year old) folks. There were several couples sitting at the bar one of which was making out constantly. It was way too much but I still ended up having a good time.

This was an excellent surprise! Tacoma, WASHINGTON is now on my sites for leisure visits, not just work. I am so happy to have found Pacific Grill. I felt like I was in a high end restaurant in Manhattan. 5 stars for the decor and ambiance. Love the selections for wine and starters. I had the beet salad. So GOOD! The main course was Thai Mussels. EXCELLENT. My hubby had the salmon. His was gone before I could get a taste so that meant he loved it. We had the Bread Pudding for dessert. I wish we would've ordered two bread puddings though sharing is caring, and probably best, or I would've made a piggy of myself.

So after posting my first review, a manager from Pacific Grill called me at home (my phone number was on our reservation) and responded to my criticism. She sent us a gift card which we used a few weeks ago. This time we made no reservation and ate in the bar. The server that helped us was young and not very knowledgeable about the food or drink, but his outstanding attitude and attention to our table (it was a fairly busy night) made up for it. We ordered mostly appetizers off the happy hour which all tasted great. For our main course we enjoyed the flat iron steak (or maybe it was a flank?) which was delicious. I would give Pacific Grill a 5 star rating, but I still can't get past our first experience with the restaurant. Thank you to the manager who followed up and also thank you to the wonderful bar staff who brought out a flashlight and began crawling around the floor looking for my credit card which ended up being in my wallet....

I came here with my girl friend one evening for drinks and appetizers.. It's a nice place so I guess my expectations were somewhat high.. Drinks were alright and the food was downright terrible.. We were so relieved that it was only a couple of appetizers and that we didn't waste our money on dinner here.. The asparagus was over cooked and smothered with garlic.. I like garlic but this was disgusting.. The potato au gratin was undercooked and flavorless.. Neither dish was edible.. This was what we waited a half hour for?! The waitress was friendly but you would think she would want to know why we only took a few bites of our food.. I'm sure she knew it was nasty and just didn't want to go there.. The owners really should invest in hiring a halfway decent chef who knows what they are doing but apparently not.. We did fill out a comment card and they sent me some kind of coupon for my birthday but no apologies for the hideous food.. I won't be back.. Update 12/14: Received an email from management after posting this review with a very generous offer to make things right.. Because of this I will return to Pacific Grill and then proceed to write a new review.. I stand by what I had to say but in the meantime I am going to add an extra star for how they chose to handle the situation..

I've only been here for happy hour and it was fantastic. Try their oyster shooters - I'm not big on oysters AT ALL but just typing about these bad boys is making me salivate. Just try one, see if you don't get hooked. We also ordered the mussel and fries and the seafood cocktail with chips. Both dishes were delicious and quite a deal. I know, it IS Tacoma but after going here, you won't mind. :)

I have only gone here 2 times but I love it!! Great atmosphere. I felt the prices were pretty decent, they are not cheap but neither is the quality. As an app we got the cheese and meat spread, it was pretty bomb. I got the steak and it was grilled perfect. My sides were also pretty amazing. If you are looking for somewhere pretty nice to go eat this is your place. They have a real good happy hour menu. I can't wait to go back!!

Amazing food and generally great service. I eat at Pacific Grill probably a couple of times a month for lunch, less often for dinner. The bar menu is out of this world, and the drinks are pretty darn good. French fries are the best in town, and the soup is always interesting. Mussels are amazing, and the bahn mi sandwich is super! Something for everyone, pricier at dinner. Food is good, but seems a better value at lunch or at the bar.

We attempted eating here for lunch, the restaurant was 1/4 full, lots of empty seating around the bar, yet the hostess had an attitude and demanded that we had to wait 15 minutes to sit at the bar even. We don't spend money at restaurants where we are treated with disrespect.

Selected Pacific Grill for a special dinner based on yelp reviews and was not disappointed in the least. The menu has so many delicious sounding options, it was hard to choose. The service was excellent. The meals were reasonably priced. The vibe was comfortable and chill. It doesn't get much better than that, in my opinion. Though I live in Olympia, I'll make the trip back!

Holy Sliders! Maybe it's just me, but I don't think so, because they're mentioned in many of the other reviews. A happy hour order has two, but we had another order because they were, well, yum! The "meat candy" is unique and worth the try. We enjoyed happy hour because it was a nice way to try several small portions on Pacific Grill's menu. Drinks are stiff here-or at least they were during our visit. Enjoy!

This is a place for adults. Nice, upscale decor, but a totally casual vibe. Tried the fried oysters, steamed muscles, warm potato chips, cheese toast and tomatoes and smoked salmon topped with caviar. Everything was top notch. Strongly recommend a drink called the Tiger Lily.

I was very excited about going there this past Memorial Day weekend as they just reopened for Happy Hour on Sundays. Six of us went there a little after 5pm for a birthday celebration and they were closed. Other people were arriiving to to eat and were suprised that they were closed as well. No sign on the door or on their website - very pathetic for customer service. I called to asky why they were closed and they said due to Memorial Day. That is fine but they should put a sign up and advertise on their website about their closures to better serve their customers. Very disappointing!!!

I visited Pacific Grill again recently and can report that there was a definite improvement over my last experience. The presentation and service were definitely more aligned with the price this time. If anything, the server in the bar area was a little too attentive. Overall, a good happy hour experience at a decent price. My favorite part was the blondie sundae--sweet and delicious!

Very appealing setting, in an older building with brick walls and a high ceiling. The food was fresh and well prepared. But what really made our dinner here memorable was our server, Courtney, who was remarkably welcoming and helpful. (The contrast with our diffident server at the Dahlia Lounge in Seattle the next night could not have more stark.)

Had a great dinner here. It's a high caliber place but I knock down the rating one star because they do gouge you on price. It feels at least 10% too high on pricing given all the relevant factors. The ahi appetizer and the tater tots really stood out. You can buy gift cards for this place at Costco stores in Pierce County and save 20% going this route. This comes in handy when dinner for 4 exceeds $400.00. Of course this did include wine, cocktails, and all the courses.

We had the steak salad and the scallops, and both were very good. I would have given 5 stars but the steak, which was ordered Med. was really Med. rare, and the nice waitress wouldn't let me order the scallops well done. I know, that's not how they're served, but I am the customer. She said, with fear in her voice," How about medium?" I said okay, and they were fine, but I would have enjoyed them more if they had been more cooked.. She explained later that the cooks get mad when someone wants something like that! I think management needs to have a talk with the prima donna cooks. The cream brulee was amazing, truly a lovely, complex dessert. The Mac and cheese side dish is worth coming for! I recomend it for a great date place, look forward to trying one of the chicken entrees

This Happy Hour trip was long awaited for me. I work down town, live close to down town, and have heard from quite a few people how great Pacific Grill is. I must say, the ambiance was nice and the staff were wonderful, but I was left shrugging at the food. The happy hour all day every day deal is fantastic, can't go wrong with half off the bar menu and big wine pours and I will most likely return sooner or later to try some different things on the menu. We shared an order of the Blue Cheese Tater Tots which sound amazing, but just weren't. The potatoes were luke warm and the blue cheese had no bite to it, almost flavorless in fact, and there wasn't much of it. I also ordered the Cheeseburger sliders and again, was less than impressed. The buns were the pull apart ones you can get at any grocery store and the cheese wasn't all that exciting or flavorful either. The fries were tasty and perfectly cut, so there was a plus. The servers and staff were extremely friendly and helpful though, so I was happy with the service we were given. I peeked at the regular menu and saw the interesting Asian fusion dishes, I'll drown myself in Washington rain before I pay $14 for a Vietnamese sandwich but it was still intriguing. Maybe I'll try out the Ramen one of these days..

Personally, I'm not sure I could stand living in Tacoma much longer if it weren't for Pacific Grill. For dinner, it is one of only two places I will go anymore, with Primo Grill being the other. I've never had anything but professional service and the food I would compare favorably to Boulevard in San Francisco. In fact, the two restaurants are comparable in many ways - food, decor, service - all top notch. I am crazy about their lamb and whenever the duck is on the menu, I get it. Steaks are great. Not sure who their seafood purveyor is, but whoever it is, they are the best as the fish is always ultra-fresh. One of my favorite personal pleasures is to take a late lunch and eat at the bar at 2:00 off the Happy Hour menu. How PG stays in business serving that good of food for those prices is beyond me, but I'm not complaining. Nothing cheers me up on a cold rainy day like a nice glass of wine and a platter of the halibut and chips, or fried oysters, or the cuban sandwich or a bowl of arrabiata spaghetti. Soul-sustaining chow. I will admit that I have had a few better meals (Le Bernadin, Comerc 24, Clarks, and few others) but I am giving Pac Grill 5 stars for doing what they do in Tacoma, WA (of all places).

Pacific Grill is GORGEOUS! They put a lot of thought and love in to the design and decor (not to mention cash), and it shows. I like to swing down after 9 p.m and indulge in their happy hour. The "meat candy" is so tasty, sliders are divine and cheap good wine! Cheap desserts too! My one complaint is that they change the menu too much, I will have something that I love and come back to have it again and it's gone. Makes me sad, but whatever I order in it's place never dissapoints!

NEVER AGAIN will I visit this place. It makes me sad since there food was really tasty. But I refuse to pay for a drink in a place that tries to make me feel worthless. We showed up for a going away party at happy hour. Our group took to the bar since most people were not eating and there to have a drink and give well wishes. First off, who can walk through that aisle it is so thin. Why are there two person tables in this area when it doesn't allow for enough walking room between the bar and the tables? I don't think it would pass any compliance codes that is for sure. I heard from numerous people in our party that the staff keep telling them where they could stand, where they could sit and who was allowed in the bar. All were met with a snobby attitude from the waitstaff. That part was hearsay until I showed up at 530. We went in and went to walk to the bar and was stopped by the hostess on the phone. When told we were going to the bar she said you can look but you can't go in there. Until I pointed out that I knew the first 10 people you could see since it was a friends going away party. All she said was "Fine" and turned away.Alright it was becoming a busy Friday I won't fault her. Oh boy all the fun started at the bar. It took the waitress 10 min to get to us after seeing us and passing us by 4 times. Then when we place our order she rolls her eyes like we were inconveniencing her. Wow really. Got our beers and then our happy hour food no problems. I finished my beer so did 3 of my friends. We were never asked if we wanted anything else or a refill on the beers. It was not that crowded so I know she was ignoring us. I decided I was sick of the eye rolling and snotty attitude from them and wanted to leave. It took 3 tries to try to get my bill and when I asked for it i got an exasperated sigh. I signed it and left a minimal tip and my friend sitting next to me tried to get her bill. Nope, she had to wait to ask again. Between the deep sighing and eye rolling we finally got out. How much eye rolling can one do and still see straight? I guess I should have asked the waitress if it hurt her eyes to do that all the time. I was feeling guilty thinking maybe I exaggerated my feelings until we went to another bar with the remainder of the group and I asked them how they felt. The same way. Like we as customers were inconveniencing the staff. If we had all had better service we would have gladly stayed and spent more money as it was we were all treated like we weren't worthy of being there. No one in my group has the desire to return and I don't blame them. My husband and sure will not.

I cannot say the service was exceptional at all. This place has a great atmos but the frankly the customer service left allot to be desired. Waitress blatantly decided to forget to refill drinks and outside of the fact she was present her futile attempt to gain my favor in the end she apparently thought she would get a tip. Here is your tip and it's priceless ( serve your customers...and they WILL serve you back)

I was born and raised in Tacoma - this is the best restaurant we've ever had. Read more if you want to get picky... I enjoy the upscale, high quality food that comes out of this kitchen. The rotating, seasonal menu keeps things fresh, but is also a bit of a curse. They used to have a spicy asian tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes. I've never had that anywhere else I've dined and it is one of the best dishes I've ever had. This was a couple of years ago and I haven't seen it on the menu since. (Sadface) I can always find a good piece of fish on the menu, though, and that's what's important. They also offer steak and good variety of other proteins that all sound delicious. The service is usually good and occasionally great. Typically at an upscale restaurant I expect waiters with a lot of personality and I haven't always had that at Pacific Grill. Having said that, I've never had a bad waiter at Pacific Grill. The atmosphere is pretty unique and enjoyable. The bar can feel a little claustrophobic on a busy night, but the restaurant generally feels relaxing and I enjoy the dim (but not too dim) lights. Forget everything I just said if you go on a holiday, though. I went on Valentine's Day a couple of years ago and it was disastrous! We were sat at a wobbly table jammed between others with barely any elbow room. It was so loud I couldn't even hear myself think - much less have a conversation. The service was slow (though she was nice) and the food wasn't properly cooked (we did not send it back because of how long it took to get it in the first place). Most surprisingly, they had a special Valentine's Day menu (not mentioned when I made reservations) and there wasn't a single piece of seafood on the menu. (I guess they're named after Pacific Avenue, but how can "Pacific Grill" not offer fish?!) This is NOT the type of experience you look for on Valentine's Day! I did address the matter with the restaurant the next day and they replied graciously, but Valentine's Day is a special night and it was unfortunately ruined. Overall: This is the best restaurant in the Tacoma area (as long as you don't go on Valentine's Day).

One star for Noodle Bar. I still like all other food! I'm from Japan and still go back to visit therefore know my food. When I heard about Noodle Bar including some Japanese treats like takoyaki and okonomiyaki, I was very excited. The bottom line is - if you expect something authentic, do NOT go there. If you want to try something overpriced and not that good but still want to have everything they serve, it's your call. First, their takoyaki is NOT takoyaki. "Tako" means octopus. They use shrimp instead. When I mentioned it to the server, she had a confused look on her face but no comment. And there were only 5 tiny shrimp balls (that's how I prefer to call them) for $9. In Japan, it's twice as big, 23.8 times better and half price. The shrimp balls were too hard. And very little amount of sauce and bonito flakes, which are supposed to be all over the place. And the sauce didn't taste right - it tasted more like tonkatsu sauce instead of takoyaki sauce (I have one at home and tasted after coming back from there). My partner had the same opinion. And ramen...chuka noodles were WAY too overcooked. They should have some texture but the one I had there had none. The broth was not something I would call "classic ramen broth" because it severely lacked the richness of meat stock. I am aware that they probably don't mean to serve authentic Japanese food...as a matter of fact, their ramen was more like a mix of Japanese and Thai. So I won't say anything about so not authentic vegetables in the broth. But yet, the noodle and broth were not good at all. I will go back for their bar food though.

Love their all day happy hour and the extensive food menu on it. The choices are amazing, we love the poke spoons, faux grois, thai crack and ramen bowl! This is a definite must try!!

Their Cuban Sandwich is delish... too bad we ordered the pepper-infused tequila signature drinks to go with it... those sounded amazing, but mine was instant heartburn in a glass. Onion rings are touted on the menu as "best in the United States." Is there a more perfect set-up for disappointment? These onion rings aren't the best in a ten-block radius, let alone the entire US of A. These were warm rather than hot, with thick rings of rawish onion entombed in scads of grease-soaked batter. Not yum. Damn good Cuban Sandwich, though.

Love this restaurant! Located in Tacoma, the neighborhood's pretty much like Seattle's Belltown. The decor was pretty nice, especially when it's during the holdiays. The free hanging red & green colored lightbulbs lined above the bar was so modern and fun. Huge Halo track lighting circled the pillars in the restaurant. The Happy Hour Menu is awesome. We ordered 1 cocktail, 1 guiness, mussels & fries, fish & chips, and Poke spoons and the bill came out to no more than $40!!! The service was outstanding. Our waiter was very nice and on it the whole night, on top of being the only one covering the bar patrons.

I always thought of Pacific Grill as an elegant yet trendy dinner place. However, I recently discovered that PG is also FABULOUS for lunch and happy hour! They have a lunch menu that goes on for days, with a variety of delicious offerings from ramen noodle bowls with fresh veggies to seafood, salads, and mouth-watering sandwiches. My mom and I weren't overly hungry, so we split the Banh Mi sandwich on panini-style pressed bread, which came with a little side of Asian slaw. It was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had at a restaurant: full flavored, yet light and not overwhelming. I just wish it had a little more of the delicious slow-cooked pork... yum. I really liked the panini bread, too, which wasn't overly greasy or crusty and yet held its shape well. My friend enjoyed her Asian chicken salad. I can't wait to go back and try the other sandwich that caught my eye, the Cuban Press... only $5.75 on the HH menu! (Both sandwiches were around $11.50 on the regular lunch menu.) I sense a Tacoma HH coming on!!!

Happy hour ALL DAY?! Sign me up!! Great spot to grab lunch or dinner as I generally come here to grab food, not drinks. Food is reasonably priced but some of the food is "happy hour" sized and not the original portion. Shared the banh mi sandwich, fries, and caesar salad the last time I was there. Too much dressing on the salad but the sandwich was good. The sliders are pretty tasty too. All in all, the food is good and the service is great. Note...the clams are NOT on happy hour. Not the biggest fan of chocolate but grab one of the chocolate sticks from the hostess' stand on your way out. Yum!

Looks nice. However don't show up on a Friday evening expecting to be able to be seated in under a half hour even in the bar. We ended up leaving because the TINY waiting area ran out of room.

Wow I am stunned at the good reviews ...I found this to be mediocre at best...for "local" style food..the portions were extremely small for the price! Service very slow ...no biggie ...unless you are hungry and on a limited work hour lunch... Since I do not drink, during lunch, midweek and that is the only time I have been there...I can not speak to the "happy hour" Maybe I have visited at the wrong time??? Yes we are all too fat but this place is supposed to be "local"...and who leaves a "local" Hawaiian style joint with out leftovers? with these prices they need a bigger scoop! This place could be so much better than it is.....

Recent visit was near perfect. The only miss for us was the Crab (Hush) Puppies, which were dry and lacked sufficient crab for the ~$12 price. Entrees were excellent, the special Halibut with a peppercorn sauce and the Killer Chicken (extremely spicy, which we loved) were superb. We are not going to let as much time pass before making our next visit!

Love this restaurant but they used to have this great beet apple salad with great local goat cheese and the server told me they don't get that cheese any more since chef Ian left. But I still love, just removing one star until my goat cheese comes back. Guys, don't serve Costco goat cheese, please. It's beneath you.

The food was amazing. "Why then, paxil, did you give it 2 stars?" Good question, allow me to elaborate. My first time there i was greeted like one would greet a feces ridden bum off the streets. I could tell from the moment i entered that establishment i was being profiled visually and financially. My esteemed colleagues and i were taken to the back far from the wandering eyes of the important customers! My waitress treated us with a neglect one wouldnt show to a fellow human....same species lady jeez! Still, i kept my spartan reserve and was retorting with manners a guest would to a host. Polite. She was unphazed still. I was upset so i left a 100$ tip to that shrewd fridged pathetic ex use for a..... ahem. I wanted her to know that i can MORE than afford to patronize that joint. I hope she got the message! Or maybe she thought i was dumb to leave her a tip like that. Its not about the money lady. You wouldnt know being that you have the mental capacity of a potato! So, i say "paxil, maybe that was just a bad waitress. Ill give it another go" i did and i was treated the same!!!! Some other clown did the same thing!!! I even dressed in a suit and basically threw money on expensive crap.. i even saw the waitress i previously had. We made eye contact and its like she didnt even know me. Wow. The food!!! Amazing. The chefs back there do a great job. First time i has the salmon! Its was perfectly glazed and seasoned. The tuna tartar was great! The combination of avacado and tuna was a joy! Plating was gorgeous. The second time i ate the fillet minion. Perfectly seared and plated perfectly. Pacific grill, treat people like people. The moment you begin to thumb your collective noses up and treat some good and the rest bad, is the moment you loose. I dont care how amazing the food is. -paxil

50 percent off happy hour seems like a great deal until you get your food and you realize that half off means half the portion. New pet peeve - odd numbered portions. Happy hour dishes are the American tapas. How are two people supposed to split 5 wings? Or 3 tuna poke? Be prepared to make or break your relationship at this place, that's all I'm saying. As for the food, it really doesn't deserve the acclaim. Our dishes were hit or miss. The Dragon wings were a flop, caramelized rather than pepperized. The meat in the Vietnamese pork sandwich was tender with great flavor but the French roll was an inappropriate partner in the dish and provided an overwhelming serving of daily bread. My favorite dish was the tuna poke with a nice kick of spice, but as I mentioned before there were three servings and I had to arm wrestle for a second. If you go the route of ramen, be sure to add spicy Thai sauce or you'll have to content yourself with a bland bowl of noodles reminiscent of a college dorm room.

Are you looking for a fancy place to take a visiting parent or in-law? I'm sure this is fine. But I've never actually sat in the restaurant, nor seen the real dinner menu. So why four stars? Why is this one of my favorite places in town? Happy hour. First of all, it is almost always happy hour at Pac Grill. Call them up or check it out; more often than not, you can go for happy hour. I'm a particular fan of the late night happy hour because there isn't usually a wait to sit. For happy hour you can sit at the bar, at the small 2-tops next to the bar, or in their happy hour "lounge" area, which is atrocious. (That lounge area is probably why I didn't give this 5 stars. It is uncomfortable and awkward - it just doesn't have any of the atmosphere the rest of the place seems to have.) The food is great. I am a dedicated lover of the Cheese Toast, which they foolishly removed from the menu six months ago and then brought back, since folks like me were peeved. The new blue cheese tator tots are good, and they recently added a great mac & cheese to the happy hour menu. There is a slider plate that my meatasaurus friend always gets, and she loves it. Lots of options. The pricing may not be the most rock-bottom pricing of all happy hours, but it's a nice place and I love the food. It works well for a few friends just going out to grab some food or on a little mini-date with the Mister.

Over a year ago I came here and had their ramen noodle bowl. I've been dreaming of it ever since. I finally got to go back this weekend and though the menu had changed and they don't have my beloved ramen anymore they have new things for me to dream about. The Cesar salad was amazing, the melty toasts were to die for, the duck sausage sliders made my husbands must have list! But not only is the food here amazing, the staff is awesome, the happy hour is ridiculous, and the location is unbeatable! We love this place.

Took the whole family here for Meg's birthday. Only about half full at 6:30 on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was great for a special occasion. Meg started with a glass of nice $15 champagne and the proceeds when to a literacy charity. Great idea for a restaurant! The boys had Roy Rogers and I got a porter. The service was excellent all night. We got the charcuterie and cheese plate that had a ton of olives as our appetizer. Portions of meat and cheese were just what I expect and it was quality stuff. I had the salmon that was cooked perfectly. Meg had the ribeye with a blue cheese sauce which I wish I had ordered. Joe had some Ramen Noodle soup off of the childrens menu. Not what I want at a nice restaurant but Joe was happy. Jess had a breaded chicken dish with a side of amazing macaroni and cheese. We also got sides of papas bravas and a shephards pie. Everthing was cooked perfectly and everyone enjoyed their meal The food took its time getting to us but that was OK, we were there to celebrate Meg's birthday and we didn't need to get rushed. We couldn't manage desert so they gave us a birthday coupon for a desert on our next visit. Food wasn't cheap but it was worth it. Still need to try the happy hour sliders some time....

We went for happy hour. We started with my favorite: meat candy: roasted dates stuffed with reggiano and wrapped in applewood bacon. I had the rock shrimp (that was the fish for the day) and chips and it was great. The shrimp were perfect, lightly coated and cooked just right, the shrimp were very tender. Their tartar sauce they served with it was very flavorful. And the chips...wonderful, crispy shoestring fries with fried garlic and rosemary. Also tried the crab puppies: very good, nice and crispy on the outside, though a little gooey in the middle. My husband had the barbecued oysters and chicken wings, which he really seemed to enjoy. Then to top it off we had dessert: Black Bottom Macaroon "Pie". It was wonderful, not too sweet and the kahlua® crème anglaise was divine. The staff is wonderful, as is the ambiance. Can't wait to go again and try something else on their wonderful menu.

This review is long overdue. I went to this restaurant a year ago for my grandmothers 80th birthday. Coming from Los Angeles, my parents asked me to find a place for dinner. So, I got on good ol Yelp and chose Pacific Grill. I only remember having the oysters and cioppino, but both were prepared perfectly and were sooooo good. My grandma even tried oysters for the first time in her life and loved them. Anyway, the service was excellent, food to die for, AND they gave us a small discount for mentioning we had found them on Yelp. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a wonderful and special dinner. I will return when I visit from LA!

Food was decent but didn't live up to the prices we paid and the fancy "wall-street" style atmosphere of the restaurant was not for my husband or I. If you're a real person that likes great food check out dirty oscars annex on 6th ave. amazing!

This building sat empty for YEARS. Every time I drove by I pictured a fabulous bar inside, the perfect meld of old and new. My first visit to Pacific Grill yesterday proved that they nailed it. Not only is the ambience lovely, the service is attentive, and the food is delicious. The albacore burrito, banh mi, grilled cheese and ramen all got rave reviews from our party. It was a *wonderful* lunch! We will absolutely be coming back for the build your own ramen in the evening!

Oh definitely a strong contender for the best HH in Tacoma. All day HH. I've been there for the food before but I'd say HH wins on this one. Recommend: * Mussel & Fries * Burger Sliders * Oyster Shooters are fun here.

Costco was selling the gift card for $64 for 100 instead of $80 for 100. So I bit it and went to try it. On a Sunday early evening, it was happy hour which sweetened the deal even further. This is what I ordered: Soup Du Jour, Corn Chowder - it was average and not much to write about Pork Tenderloin - a bit lack on the flavor side, served cold Banh Mi - the cole slaw on the side was trash and didn't appeal to the taste buds at all, the sandwich itself is quite delicious Juny's Cuban Sandwich - it is just a sandwich, nothing special about it. However, the chips that came with it were super tasty! Faux Gras - a failure, tasteless French Fry Nirvana - the fry itself can use some more flavor, the fried garlic and rosemary were interesting. If they could incorporate the fried garlic and rosemary into the fries, it would be a delicious dish. Olives + Almonds - very few almonds and the olives were ok, not worth the $10, or even the $5 Meat Candy - interesting taste, but didn't tickle the taste buds Wild Mushroom Pate - now that is an appetizer to go for; you can taste the variety of mushroom. I ordered it twice!

Yum-o. This is a classy and beautiful restaurant. I enjoyed my paella entree and my sister said her linguine with clams was a little bland. This is a special date night type-of-restaurant. We ended the meal by sharing the beignets, which were warm, toasty, and awesome! There were three dipping sauces--- chocolate, strawberry, and caramel. Nice and attentive staff. I would try the happy hour.

Pacific Grill has an amazing setting and very friendly staff, but I didn't feel I got enough food for what I paid for. I ordered the 'Stan-the-Mans Killer Clam Linguini' and it was delicious, but I paid $24 and still had to order a side of sweet potato fries to get full. Also, they do not have a very large selection on the menu, but what they do have tastes great. Full bar and amazing ambiance. The place is a little pricy, but good place to take a date or chill after work during happy hour.

It's 5:30 and I have a dinner date with Nina Hartley. Nina enjoys quality, has a low key personality and loves jazz. I shouldn't have been surprised that as we sat down to a crumb-laden white table cloth that Nina would be too enraptured with the off-beat punch in a quick paced sax solo to notice. Nor did she notice the apologetic sweep and clear of our hostess resetting the table with a fresh cloth. She did notice the noodle bar. Absolutely pleased (kid in a candy store, though cliche is certainly fitting) she took her time examining every option in broths (miso, curry, etc. etc.) noodle style, meat selection and extra vegetables. Thai chilis? Yes, please. Her fascination piqued my interest and while I would normally forego the noodle bar, I was compelled to try it. From there I was sadly dissapointed. I ordered curry broth, and udon noodles with shrimp and chicken. Nina ordered a Japanese salad (which she never received) traditional broth, ramen noodles with duck and pork. Somehow I wound up with ramen. Thankfully the waitress noticed Nina never received her salad and offered a free dessert. Allow us to recap: Setting: Potentially intimate. Music: Awesome. Wait staff: Awesome. Our order: Very wrong. No salad. Wrong noodles. Price: 40% off special (Happy Hour) If our order was perfect, this joint would definitely receive 5 stars. For now, 3 will suffice. Upon my next visit, I'm looking forward to an upgrade as even for a wrong order, what we received was delicious. ============================ Please note that Pacific Grill contacted me and offered a better experience via a gift card. For the simple fact that they took the time to better my previous experience, I've given them 5 stars. I did not accept the gift card, however. :) No need. Thanks, Pacific Grill. -A

After hooking up with a friend after a Hotel Murano Twitter party, we ended up here for more cocktails and eventually dinner. I ordered their Paella, which had steamed mussels, clams, scallop, shrimp, chicken, chorizo, griddled saffron rice, roasted red pepper all in a smoked paprika tomato broth. I'd never had paella before and my spontaneous date told me that it was his favorite. Where had this dish been all my life? The flavors from the seafood mixed with chorizo gave me an immediate savory orgasm. Yes, yes, yes! I didn't know these kinds of places existed in Tacoma! Pacific Grill gets 5 wows. Thanks for the big O! I needed that.

One of the best happy hours in town but your experience totally depends on your server (which is I guess normal). I've been there several times and most of the time the service if good but half the time it's really not good. There's no middle ground it seems. The food is amazing and they have super cheap oyster shooters and half priced appetizers during HH. Definitely worth checking out for yourself.

Last night was my second time at Pacific Grill and it was just as amazing as the first. I ordered the filet and it melted in my mouth and was cooked perfectly. The wine list is really great and the cocktails are all creative and tasty. We had the cheese plate and the crab cakes for appetizers and both were winners. I'd go back again for those alone. Also got the blue cheese tater tots on the side and they were just as amazing as you'd think. Not only was the food great, but the service was PERFECT. Our waitress was Courtney and she was very attentive without helicopter-ing. She knew her wines and recommended a wonderful bottle of Andrew Will and was so right on that we ended up ordering a 2nd bottle. Side note: when Courtney noticed that we were really enjoying the first bottle, she told us that there was only one more in the cellar and she offered to hide it away for us so no one else could order it. That was MUCH appreciated. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in Tacoma and I highly recommend it.

Woow, Unexpected. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place, and will sure visit again!!! This Happy hour really made me happy ! I was planning to go there for lunch, but it happened to be their happy hour. It was my first time. Me and a friend was really tired after a visit on Northwest Trek, so we ordered tons of food, 2 oysters shoots,BBQ oysters, Juny's Cuban Sandwiches, Mussels and Fries. They well alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll good. I mean it... not because they are cheap, even they are regular price, I will still love it. for one thing i dont like is the mussle isnt hot enough, but it was totally fresh. The fries deep fried with real garlic, so it tasted garlicky and just like Dick's with garlic favor. The sandwiches is good. The BBQ oysters are Fantastic. And the oyster shoot, omg... I wanted to order more, but we had plans after, so we didnt. U MUST TRY ONE WHEN U ARE THERE! I am sure you will love it... After reading all this, I bet u are mouth watering.. and guess what? it doesnt hurt your wallet much, it cost us only $24 dollars. everything on the menu was 1/2 off and we were totally blew out by their food. The restaurant is awfully quiet but with this good quality of food, i will 100% visit them again with my friends... a 45 mins drive from my house is totally worth it.. P.S Happy hour must be age 21+

If you LOVE food...good food...then this is the place you need to be. We have been for both regular dinner and the happy hour. We also took a Cooking with the Chefs class recently. Chef Gordon, Executive Chef Ian and the staff at PG really get what eating/dining is about. Excellent food combined with an approach to dining that is not too stuffy but full of integrity. We've been to some amazing restaurants in the Northwest and this one is our favorite. So far, we haven't found another restaurant in Tacoma that really satisfies our inner wanna-be-foodie the way that Pacific Grill does. We are going tonight for Noodle bar...because we are absolutely addicted to the Ramen Bowl! mmmm.....see ya there?!

Stopped by with seven others last night after work to try out their happy hour menu. The food was actually really good (fried oysters) and the HH price was decent though at full price ($10.50) I'm not sure if I'd feel the same about it. One of my friends ordered the cheeseburger sliders which was proclaimed as the best slider ever. The issue we encountered was not the limited draft beer selection, it was the very tight confines of the bar area as other reviewers have previously stated. There are about 15 stools at the bar and about 5 or 6 bistro tables about 18 inches or so away which makes sitting at the tables or walking through the bar a challenge. And for a group our size, it probably didn't work as well since the eight of us basically had to divide ourselves into two groups to hold a conversation. But I'll probably go back again at some point because the food is really good and that's really the point of it all. I'm really feeling a 3.5 rating but given that we all left after 45 minutes to go to another establishment, I'll have to go with a 3.

My favorite Happy Hour in Tacoma. I love and I go all the time. If you're thinking about crappy bar food when you hear the words "Half Price Happy Hour Food" well, think again! Pacific Grill Happy Hour raises the bar for happy hours everywhere. In addition to a huge selection of items that are half off, the quality of the food is so good. My favorite is the Grilled Cheese with Cave Aged Gruyere and Cheddar- but I have been known to get the sliders from time to time and they are fantastic as well. Desserts are half price as well. PG Happy Hour is a great way to enjoy the beautiful ambiance and snappy professional service and Tacoma's Best Restaurant without breaking the bank.

Unimpressed. Ate here for the first time and don't think I would consider returning. We had the crab cakes for an appetizer and they did not meet my expectations. My main dish was good but not great. My boyfriend got the tater tots as a side dish and it was $6.95 for 6 tots in feta sauce! Insane! The waitress was nice but not incredibly attentive. Also I felt like the food took a little long to come out. I don't mean to rip them apart but I was expecting more.

I ate there two times this week. Once with a group of 12 guys on a golf trip to the Tacoma area, and tonight with my wife. Both times, the meals were excellent and the service as well. Nice atmosphere. The seafood is excellent, didn't try the meat. Have the Julia Child chocolate cake and ice cream dessert! :-)

We view Pacific Grill as a premier restaurant in Tacoma. However, they ran out of oyster shooters by 7 o'clock on Friday evening, their reasoning was that had a busy week. We are in Tacoma, there are a lot of seafood stores, not having oyster shooters for the weekend is not Premier management. Had this been the first time this happened, I would not write a review. Unfortunately it was not the first time therefore the review.

Look, I could hem and haw about which is the best restaurant in Tacoma. There are so many to choose from, all different. But if I had to make a snap decision this morning, I'd go with PG -- that's insider speak for Pacific Grill + Event Center. The Bros Naccarato have established a consistently top-notch eatery here, with a great happy hour and rotating seasonal menu that elevates comfort food and is both familiar [in a good way] and original [in a good way]. But don't forget that Event Center! Not only is PG the exclusive caterer for the Courtyard by Marriott, but it has its own event space next door, for business meetings, weddings, reunions or what-have-you. You will be enticed by the Kobe beef sliders and the oyster shooters. You will begin touting the fresh-tasting Cuban and Vietnamese sandwiches. And you will return for the gourmet fried chicken prix fixe dinner. Oh, and the coconut creme brulee. And the only-in-Tacoma Rock-n-Roca Blondie Sundae. OK, now I'm hungry.

Pac Grill!!! 1) Another place with sweet potato fries!!! awesome!!! To starts off well!!! PRetty good with a side of rubbarb ketchup. :) 5/5 2) Service, as friendly as any service and prompt. So 4/5 stars 3) As for all HH I've been to I get my obligatory oysters if they have it on the menu!!! I have to slightly disagree with my fellow yelpers saying the quality of their oyesters. They weren't just enough to say... yeah I had the oyster and.... probably can skip it next time. 3/54) 4) Sandwhiches... I'd say you can skip that w/o question. 2/5 5) Salads... AMAZING!!! ha ha I have to say they are fresh, crips, and keeps you reaching for more!!! loved every crunch of it. I believe I had the ceasar. Overall, nice enough place to go to HH, may be the best place in the 253!!! :)

I can only speak for the happy hour in the bar although I am confident the restaurant is just as fabulous. We have always received great and prompt service (even when it was extremely busy). The happy hour menu is quite extensive and I would say is the best in this area. 1/2 price on the majority of items makes it an affordable evening to enjoy some (fairly large) small plates and a nice glass of wine. Some of our favorite offerings were: Pacifica Cocktail that was full of ultra fresh seafood and a perfectly balanced tomato/lime base. Meat Candy. I need not say more. Only, if you like bacon.....get this! Mussels that were deliciously tender in an awesome broth, served along side skinny fries that were quite good as well. We have on other visits, ordered the BBQ pork sliders, the wedge salad, and the sweet potato fries. Everything has always been fresh and very tasty. I am looking forward to trying out the dinner menu at some point.

I drop by the Pacific Grill once to twice per month for their Happy Hour. The food is real good and if you sit in the bar its always 50% off. My favorite dishes are the Cheeseburger Sliders and Grill Cheese. There isnt much of a crowd around the 3p hour (M-F) so seating is always guaranteed. One draw back is that the Bar area can not accommodate a large crowd.

4.5 stars, rounded up to 5. Who knew we'd find such a gem so close to our hotel (Hotel Murano) in Tacoma? Went there for dinner prior to a show. We didn't have reservations but it was okay - there was space. Started with a glass of wine for each (red for him, white for me) - we noted that their wine selection did NOT feature all of the usual suspects but had a few random wineries thrown in - so here's to mixing it up. Cocktails looked good, but we were after wine. He had the Kobe beef salad and asked for it medium rare. It came out cooked in the way that I would consider rare, and that's okay since we both eat rare with quality meat...medium rare was the safe thing to say. The beef was gorgeous and melted in our mouths. I ordered the winter shellfish chowder and wasn't sure what to think when a bowl ("for shells") was followed by a bowl with a wet napkin and several lemon slices ("for washing up afterwards") and was then followed by a crab cracker. The bowl for shells made sense...sure, fancy chowders have clams and mussels in the shell still...but crab crackers? What? Turns out, my bowl had a layer of chowder and then a pile of shellfish - clams, mussels, crab claws (yes, more than one), a prawn, and some rock shrimp. They were surrounded by a sprinkling of chopped potatoes and pieces of bacon, and came garnished with a slice of toast. Beautiful...wish I'd taken a picture. What followed can only be described as dinner theater for the boyfriend (and anyone else watching) as I attempted to crack open the crab claws. Let's just say that this takes a good deal of grace and talent on a good day, but when said claws were coated in chowder? Good luck. This sounds like something that would knock it down a star, but it didn't. It, instead, provided me a way to work off the calories I was packing on from the chowder. Flavors were really good, seafood was incredibly fresh, and our server was sweet as all can be. Bathrooms were clean. Nice vibe. Pricey place, don't get me wrong, but you get what you paid for, right? Next time I'm in Tacoma, I'd consider hitting them up again. Maybe for HH...

My wife and I went to the Pacific Grill on February 22nd for dinner...this was out first time at Pacific Grill. Our waitress brought us menus but we pretty much knew what we wanted to order as we had looked at the dinner menu on line, we were however interested in perhaps a glass of wine. That's where the Pacific Grill gets my first thumbs down. The least expensive glass of wine was $9. They actually had one of my favorites wines in stock, "Layer Cake Shiraz" and a glass of it was $10. Since I've bought many bottles of Layer Cake I know what it sells for and it can be found abundantly for less than $15.00 per bottle yet they are charging $10 per glass...no thank you! Don't misunderstand me...I am not cheap...it's just $10 for a glass of wine from a $15 dollar bottle seems overkill to me...besides...we had already had a couple of glasses of wine prior to the meal so we saved the $20. So...a few minutes pass and our waitress comes back to our table...she was nice...but we were never welcomed to the restaurant, she never told us her name and I had to ask if she was our waiter...she hardly said two words to us...other than those misses...she did a really good job seeing to our needs. Our Appetizer; we ordered Steamers ($13.95) as our only appetizer. These were about average steamers in my opinion. A few of the clams looked to be dry like they had been overcooked or had sat for too long. I usually dip the broth from steamers with my bread but this broth was heavily laden with way too much herb seasoning which actually made the broth appear green. I judge foods by simple criteria...would I order it again? These Steamers I would not order again. Our Main Course; we ordered the 'BLT' Salad with apple-smoked bacon, romaine & iceberg lettuces, avocado, marinated tomatoes and & warm Dijon mustard vinaigrette ($8). We had it split for an additional $3.50 which I thought was pretty pricy just to half a salad and put it on two plates....oh well. My wife ordered the Grilled Salmon with fingerling potato hash with grilled onions, bacon, arugula & lobster butter with tomatoes & basil ($27.95). She also ordered a side of the Brussels Sprouts with grilled onions, bacon & whole grain mustard ($5). I ordered the Filet Mignon with, potato gratin with sweet potato & kale, broccoli & sauce bordelaise ($42). A few minutes after we ordered...the waitress returns to our table and informs us that they are reserving the Brussels Sprouts?? WTF? She says that they don't have enough of them and are reserving them for a main course that uses them as part of the dish and that they can't serve them as a side?? So it's 6:30...they have been open for dinner a little over an hour and they are low on an item on their menu? Ok...no problem...we replaced the sprouts with Sweet Potato Fries with house-made ketchup ($5). So our BLT Salad arrives...where's the bacon? You know if you fix a BLT sandwich you use more than a piece of bacon and at best this BLT Salad had a single piece of bacon on it...I was disappointed. I had a vision of a BLT Salad with thick cut apple wood bacon in almost every bite...sorry...not here. That out of the way, the lettuce was fresh and crisp, the tomatoes were very tasty and we both enjoyed the warm Dijon mustard vinaigrette. Oh I forgot to mention the avocado; there were maybe four "small" pieces of avocado on the salad...small enough to be easily missed. Again, for me...I would skip the BLT Salad if I ate here again. My wife's Grilled Salmon with fingerling potato hash with grilled onions, bacon, arugula & lobster butter with tomatoes & basil was very good...but again if there was bacon on the plate we didn't see much of it. Perhaps they have a guy in the kitchen munching on the bacon?? Her Salmon was grilled masterfully with a glaze on the outside and moist and tender inside...it was perfect! I have to say it ranked right up there with some of the best grilled seafood we have had. The grilled vegetable hash was also tender and tasty. Would we order it again? Most definitely!! My Filet Mignon with potato gratin with sweet potato & kale, broccoli & sauce bordelaise was also very good. But why do they put broccoli on these dishes? Hardly no one eats broccoli. Anyway, my Filet Mignon was again grilled to perfection and was very flavorful and tasty....it was a good quality Filet. The potato gratin with sweet potato & kale was delicious...so much that I'm trying to find a recipe to try and make it myself. My only "beef" (no pun intended) with my meal (other than the broccoli)...is I thought $42 was a little high for this plate of food...but the restaurant seems to have that theme with its entire menu. Would I order this Filet Mignon again...Oh Yes!! BUT...for about the same price a much higher end dining experience and a higher quality Filet Mignon can be had at the Capitol Grille in Seattle on 4th Avenue...but if I were in Tacoma looking for a good meal I would not hesitate to return to the Pacific Grill.

Try it, you'll like it! This is my favorite place in the city. ALWAYS the best. My current favorite is the ramen bowls. I order the Godzilla which has everything in it. The things I like about Pacific Grill are their consistant high quality and also their changing menu. I enjoy them for both happy hour and for dinner service. Meat candy and Oregonzola tatertots, yum. Now that I made myself hungry, I need to go there for dinner.

Best fried oysters that I have EVER had! This place has great prices, great food and a cool, romantic ambiance. What more could you ask for?

The filet mignon is delicious, and the tuna poke was good but could have used a bit more citrus. I come when i'm visiting my parents from NYC or LA, but it's a nice spot for a casual dinner with fairly upscale food.

Pacific Grill rocks. Best happy hour anywhere, anytime. The food is impeccable and is such an awesome bargain at the happy hour prices!!!! Service is always decent and the restaurant is just so beautiful. If I lived downtown, I'd be there daily. :)
