Do not eat here. They lost my loyalty half a decade ago. Decided to try them again and nothing has changed.

Second time here, i got the wings this time and they were terriiiiibblle. Like just really bad, the flavor of the chicken itself was horrid. But i did have pasta and a calzone from there the first time and that was suuuper good. Just dont get the wings, also the drivers are not very personable.

The online ordering process was actually very easy and fluid. Not glitchy at all. It was delivered quickly and the pizza guy was friendly. The delivery charge was also very cheap! Only 99 cents. We ordered the House Special and the Greek Special pizza. Both were very delicious. Among that, my friend ordered the breaded raviolis and bread sticks. Toppings: All tasted very fresh and flavorful. It didn't taste like anything was frozen or freezer burnt. The veggies cooked down, but not to where they're mush. They still had a bit of a bite. The bacon was crisp and there were no fatty, burnt, or gristle pieces that I hate. The gyro meat became a little dry in the cooking process, but you could tell it was well seasoned. It tasted like actual gyro meat and not the mixture of hamburger/Italian sausage that some places try to pass off as gyro meat. Cheese: If you love a very cheesy pizza, this is the place for you. Normally I order extra cheese, but with them you really don't need to. There is nothing I hate more than a pizza place that skimps on the cheese, so to me this place has it right. However, if you're not a big fan of heavily cheesed pizzas, I'd try asking them to go light on it. The cheese tasted fresh and flavorful. Sauce: The Greek Special comes with a side of tzatziki. I was disappointing at how very little they give you. Only 2 tiny containers for a large pizza. My friend received more marina for her appetizers than we did tzatziki for our entire pizza. It just seemed very disproportionate. As someone who cries over the thought of how good tzatziki is, I was deeply hurt by such a tiny amount. The tzatziki itself was pretty good, but nothing beats my own. Sorry. Also, it became a little runny from the heat of the pizza. I think they should have kept it separate. The marinara/pizza sauce was rich and flavorful. You could see the specks of herbs and flavor throughout it. Since they gave my friend an excess of marinara, I used the leftovers on pasta the next day. Boy was it good. Also, they didn't drown their House Pizza with marinara, it was just the right amount. The Greek Special was supposed to have a garlic olive oil base, but I couldn't really taste it that much. I feel like it's meant to compliment the other flavors rather than stand out on it's own, so I guess it's fine. Crust: The pizzas have flakey/almost airy like crust. I appreciate that it's not heavy or greasy like some pizza places, but it couldn't really stand up to the amount of toppings and cheese that were on it. It became a bit soggy and floppy. I don't really mind a soft/floppy pizza, but if you need your pizza to be crispy, I wouldn't order anything with more than 2 or 3 toppings. Despite the flaws, the crust still had a nice light yeasty flavor and it wasn't doughy or under cooked. Breadsticks: Uh, please avoid these at all costs. When I think breadsticks... I think soft, buttery, dreamy, garlicy, with that subtle hint of parmesan sprinkled throughout. These sticks were very dense and chewy, like trying to eat a tire. Other parts were extremely crunchy and hard with a few actually being hollow inside. They were supposed to have parmesan, olive oil, and italian seasoning, but they tasted like they had nothing on them. No flavor at all. Breaded Raviolis: I didn't try these myself, but my friend seemed to enjoy them. In conclusion, there are some minor flaws with this place, but overall I enjoyed my dinner and had a pleasurable experience. As someone who has a heart-on for gyros, I really appreciate the fact that they have a greek pizza with gyro meat and tzatziki. It's my two favorite foods combined, so definitely one of my favorite pizzas. I'll be ordering again.

Ordered a Northwest Pizza and breaded raviolis. The pizza was pretty much what you'd expect, no better no worse than any other pizza place. The breaded raviolis were good, but seemed like just frozen and then microwaved. Overall I'd give the food 6/10. What gets one star is the service. Ordered my pizza online and added Gyro meat to the Northwest special. The phone number i put in didnt have service in the area so I called them to give them an updated number just in case. The woman that answered the phone was rude and off putting, but not really a big deal if it ended at that. The pizza came, and it turned out to be the wrong pizza so I called them back, the lady laughed saying oh thats funny and we'll send another out then hung up. When the other pizza got here, another 30+ minutes, it had no pesto written on the ticket and came with no pesto. Still got charged the price with the extra topping, and definitely didn't ask for no pesto. Didn't feel like it was worth calling the place back and they gave me the other pizza for free anyway, so I wasn't overly angry. Would still never eat there again, and am extremely unsatisfied.

Today we had the Greek Salad, Breaded Cheese Ravioli, and the Combo Special Pizza. The food tasted fine, nothing special but very acceptable. However, we found several shards of broken glass in our pizza. Beware!

I ordered delivery, it came in half the time as estimated which was awesome. The food was great and they out my salad in its own bag so it wouldn't get warmed up by the food. If you are having a lazy day and want a different delivery that is super yummy... order from here NOW

I had Mona Pizza take out and it was really good. Eating in there is a different experience. The service wasn't great and there was no one else there. I do recommend the pizza, but don't expect exceptional service.

Stopped in on a recommendation about the pizza and found they have gnocchi on the menu. The salad was big, the beer was tasty and gnocchi was a happy return to childhood memories of Granddad making his special recipe for family get togethers. Good marinara, no hovering waiters, a nice easy dinner.

They deliver and I wanted something other than pizza for once so I googled their number and called THREE TIME with no answer what so ever! I know that they are not a busy restaurant so there is absolutely no reason for them not to answer. It's amazing they're still even standing.

I got the vega specialty pizza with eggplant artichoke hearts red onion and kalamata olives. The olives for me were a bit to much but the pizza was amazing! We picked it up and didn't eat in. Customer service was decent except I forgot something after the waitress left and so a new girl helped me...or tried to help. At one point she walked away and didn't communicate what she was doing so I thought she left me. Anyways it was all remedied and I plan on going back. So yummy!

Mona Pizza and Pasta had an empty parking lot. I was going to the Loose Wheel next door which had a completely full parking lot. I parked at Mona Pizza and Pasta and some intense and aggressive woman (I believe she was on drugs) ran out literally screaming at me that if I do not move my car from her parking lot she will call a tow truck. I could understand if at least one person was dining at their establishment, or perhaps a large party was going to be there any minute. But, good lord. It's no wonder everyone went to the Loose Wheel instead of Mona Pizza and Pasta. Maybe next time you could walk out and say "Hey! I see you parked in our lot but you are heading to Loose Wheel. How about you try our food? I'll give you a soda on the house". I was simply borrowing one single parking spot in your entirely empty lot for a lousy 30 minutes in the middle of the day. It's not something to run out cursing and threatening me over. Needless to say I ate at Loose Wheel and was out of there before the tow truck arrived. I will never spend a dime at Mona Pizza and Pasta.

We arrived at 5:38 on Saturday night. This was our first and last visit. There were three tables during their dinner rush. Yes, that should have been a hint. We were told to pick a table and there were signs that people do eat there. The first 2 tables we walked up to were dirty. Hmmmm. Far too slow for dirty tables. Maybe they leave them dirty as proof that people have previously been able to order dinner. Oh well. We sat and then sat some more. After 5 minutes we had not even seen another member of the staff on the floor. We left having never even talked to anyone but our initial greeter. They were clearly overwhelmed with those 3 tables.

Three strikes! First time had to call and ask for a new pizza because delivery driver tipped it and all the toppings slid to one side, including cheese. Second time the person answering the phone was so spacey and slow (he kept saying "that's cool" when he couldn't find my number in their system --why? What's cool about being incompetent?) Third time I called back two minutes after placing my order to ask for thin crust because person taking order didn't ask and was told the pizzas were already halfway through the oven and I couldn't have thin crust. So I waited to talk to a manager who said he'd change them. Pizzas weren't ready at time to pick up and the crust was not thin. Whatever. I'm done and moving on.

I'm really thankful for places with a vegan cheese option as well as vegan dessert. The ambiance is warm, but the waitress could have been a little nicer. No smile at all and I felt like as the customer, I was bothering her. Please learn to be attentive and nice. I won't be back until this place fixes their attitude.

  • Emily M.

I would like to preface this that I am not Italian. But this place was very good. The side salad was delicious. The ranch dressing was fresh and light with fresh crisp lettuce. We ordered the calzone and prosciutto pizza. Both dishes were very good. Fresh, warm and well seasoned. The service was prompt and very polite. I would definitely come here again.

  • Deena M.

Am I Wrong to think Pizza & Pasta means Italian? I guess our first sign should have been when the table next to us ordered the BBQ wings with extra ranch at an "Italian" restaurant. I ordered the chicken parm and my husband had the spaghetti and meatballs (the dish to rate any Italian eatery by). The meatballs were suspiciously like the Costco ones in my freezer, the chicken in the chicken parm was hard as a rock and totally flavorless. They pasta is also store bought (I asked if they made it, they do not). Oh, and I should mention the ambiance. A light shone directly in my eyes in the dining room, interrogation style, while a football game played in the middle of the room. The waitress was a sweet heart and the service was good, but the food....ugh. No way. I'd do better dumping some noodles in water and topping them with Ragu. Seriously.

  • Jacklyn W.

LOVE their delivery. I haven't eaten in the actual restaurant so I guess I'll review delivery Used to live very close so my husband and I got pizza/pasta delivery all the time. It is only a little more expensive than a chain pizza place but sooo much better. Love the stuffed pasta and their pizzas are great. One time the driver forgot our salads and we didn't even realize it but he drove all the way back to give them to us. We've had nothing but great service and food from them. If we're in the area we'll definitely stop by and eat there.

Delicious creamy tortellini with combination of pesto AND marinara sauce, and yummy artichoke hearts and black olives with Parmesan and some other white crumbly cheese... SO GOOD!! The breadsticks appetizers were fresh, soft and delicious, and the accompanying marinara sauce was chunky and loaded with tasty herbs. Generous side salad with ample dressing, cheese, and olives on top. My boyfriend also really liked his chicken parmesan. The merlot they offered was very tasty as well.

Returned to Mona's on 8/13. Once again there was only one server. She said that she would have been the only server during the dinner rush had she not made the other girl stay later with her. This time there were even more dirty dishes on more than one table. The food was good though. I ordered my salad with no dressing and it came out covered in dressing and smothered in olives. I guess they were trying to hide the dressing with the black debris lol UM... our poor server never came back until our entrees came out. So I just had her take the salad away. My date didn't eat her salad at all either since I didn't get to eat mine. So they wasted a bunch of product basically... I really like the food and ambiance here...it's a nice change from Cheesy Olive Garden, but... due to the sad service, I don't think I'll be returning :(

Yumm! Second time eating here & we recommend it :-) Food: Side salad - $2.50, simple fresh lettuce, cheese olives & delicious dressing (sampled blue cheese & ranch). Cheesy breadsticks -$7, hot, cheesy and great marinara for dipping. Pizza- we've tried 3 different types, all good. The crust is homemade tasting. Calzone- we got a Greek one on our last visit & a few too many onions for me but otherwise no complaints. They could have more staff, 2 people for busy Saturday dinner time. Our waitress was on the move. She was genuine, apologetic about delays...we liked her. **Sorry forgot to post online. App used to make you follow through on computer. Thankfully I now can post directly on my phone.

Second time I've been there. The first was great. I had a Cobb salad which was very yummy. I loved all the fixings on my salad. My boyfriend had the spaghetti and meat balls. It only had three meatballs but he didn't seem to mind. Service was slow, there was like one or two other tables busy and I guess that kept the waiter busy. Second time there was absolutely no customers Except I and my boyfriend. Still we waited like 20 minutes for water. And another twenty for our order to be taken. While we waited all we heard was laughter from the kitchen. The food was excellent though. Very good, I had the chicken ravioli with Alfredo, and my boyfriend the meaty lasagna, full of deliciousness. Then we saw a bug at our table -_- Really killed my lunch I hate bugs, and I really hate bugs near my food.

I just realized that my FULL DEBIT CARD NUMBER AND EXPIRATION DATE are listed on the receipt. And they stapled the receipt to multiple places (bag, box, and my copy.) THIS IS ILLEGAL! I'll be speaking with the manager of Mona Pizza tonight, and if this is not stopped immediately I will be contacting the Federal Trade Commission to file a complaint. This is really, really serious, as every customer who uses a debit or credit card has been exposed to fraud - and EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMBER HAS HAD ACCESS TO MY CREDIT INFORMATION! Plus, if someone throws away the receipt without realizing their full credit/debit number and expiration date are on there, anybody can find it. Here's the legal info: In 2003, the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) was signed into law. It addresses a number of issues, including the requirement that credit card numbers must be truncated on receipts. Today, electronically printed receipts given to customers cannot show more than the last five digits of the account number. The expiration date must not be shown at all.

Steve was going to make his infamous Baha Tempe Tacos last night for supper at home but he admitted that he was really in the mood for Mona's pizza after we got done shopping for the tacos. Sure! Why not? We got a pizza with all the fixings. Tomatos, garlic cloves, bell peppers, peperoni, olives and mushrooms. All the key ingredients to an excellent pizza! And it did not disappoint! The pizza tasted great! Worthy of seconds and thirds! We also got the cheesey bread with marinara sauce which was very yummy! Nothing like suggesting pizza to get out of a night cooking at home! Lol!

It's sad that I lost a decent pizza delivery choice. Here's why. Delivery came. Opened immediately. A small COCKROACH came out of the box. As you know it moves very fast, but it was caught safely. Called the restaurant. The manager's first comment to my objective cockroach story was "it could have come in from outside". I haven't seen a cockroach outside in this area. If he meant inside of his employee's car, it is still their fault. I told him there is no cockroach in my home, and the box was open immediately after the delivery had arrived. He repeated the same thing. Eventually he said "well...would you like another one?" I was very upset because 1. cockroach is a bad news 2. the manager did not validate our panic (if the roach had escaped, our house would have had major problems) 3. he did not apologize and 4. he did not offer to investigate.

Owners are extremely rude. They treat there employees like absolute crap. I would not support this business. Food is mediocre.

  • Drew S.

I ordered two 10 inch pizzas here recently and when I received my bill was charged for two bigger pizzas. This leads me to believe that my waitperson "upsold" my bill on purpose. The restaurant is extremely understaffed. It will take forever to get your food and it will take forever to pay your bill. Apparently, the kitchen can't keep up with the home delivery orders they receive and take care of their patrons in the restaurant at the same time. Besides the horribly slow service, our food tasted good. However, when being charged for more then I ordered...it means I will never go back.

  • Karlei S.

New favorite pizza place for me! The pasta is good too, but the white spaghetti is a little boring. Northwest favorite pizza is bomb! And Margarita pizza was really good, the crust is delish.

  • Nick S.

My wife and I went to this restaurant at 7pm on a Thursday. We stood by the server's podium for 10 minutes without seeing any of the wait staff. I tried yelling hello a few times but no one responded. We did see a handful of people eating but not being helped. After 10 minutes of awkwardly waiting, we left without ever being helped.

Have tried to be a believer in this place as food is not bad. Service though is really not good. For a bit they had some good staff, now that seems to have gone down hill. If you are in a hurry don't go. If you want consistency and needs met don't go.

    (1)
  • Cindy H.

Ok so I came back again, the same pizza and wings and let me tell you it was far under par. The pizza was extra salty and oily, there was barely any meat compared to the first time when I ordered it. Not very consistent with the amount of ingredients :/ . And guess how much I paid for low quality pizza which im pretty sure I can get much better at little ceasers, $56. I would never eat here again and I would never have paid that much money for pizza if I knew the quality and taste were that terrible. I probably should've checked before I left but because it was so great the first time I went with my gut instinct and this time I was wrong. The server showed the other customers their pizza but when I received mine he didn't even bother to open it and show me mine....such bad customer service. I was really disappointed spending $56 on crappy pizza.

Great little Italian place that delivers. Have never been in the restaurant itself though, haha. Tacoma needs more delivery, honestly--anything besides pizza is automatically on my radar. Any of the tortellini is probably their best dish, the lasagna was good but nothing special. Salads are a little plain but at least they give you lots of dressing. A "side" of garlic bread amounts to quite a bit, although I'd personally like mine to have a lot more garlic. Ordering online is super convenient, and the delivery is always quick with super fresh, hot food.

My boyfriend and I wanted to try out a new place to eat earlier tonight (Friday). We decided on Mona's, Italian food sounded good. There was 3 waitresses and about 7-10 tables occupied. We ordered the chicken Parmesan. After waiting a half hour for our food the waitress said it was almost ready. After another half hour she brings us just the garlic bread, which we asked to get long before that. We were starving! We asked where our meal was, and she again said it's almost done. She didn't aplogize. A different waitress finally brought it out, but there was NO chicken in the meal. Just spaghetti and cheese. By this time we went to the front, to talk to our waitress. She told my boyfriend there were new cooks working, and if we wanted we could wait longer for the chicken. The whole night she had an attitude and acted like we were in the wrong somehow. We remained friendly and understanding until the very end. My boyfriend said we will just pay for the soda and leave. Instead of the waitress apologizing, she just said okay and accepted payment for the drink. After waiting an hour for nothing, she still had us pay for the drink!! Will never eat there again. I'm very patient and friendly, but that situation was over the top.

Online service blows. Not only was the manager very condescending and RUDE, they charged my card before the food order got there. Someone please explain this to me.

The wings blow no sauce to speak of and tastes as tho they were thawed out a week ago. Pizza was stuck to the box and had the taste of spoiled meats

  • Debra T.

I hope the pizza is better than the customer service on the phone-- we told the phone voice six times NO onions. The meals arrived smothered in onions. When we called back and asked "how many time said we specify no onions?" She replied "a few" then said "if it was my screw up we will replace the meal." IF? After agreeing to send new meals and hanging up abruptly she then called back to demand that we not eat the meals and return them. REALLY??? With all the opinions? She thought we were ripping them off... Stay away...Dominos does better pizza!

    (1)
  • Grindy S.

A bit pricey, even with the coupons. You could probably get a better pie at Farrelli's t the same price. That being said, this is a better pizza than what you get from other delivery options, and worth it if you're sick of the Domino's-Pizza Hut-Papa John's Axis of Pizza. Better side options, too.

  • Jeff B.

Marginal. The three calzones at the table were all luke warm. The pasta looks like it might be good though. Ordered no onions and the calzone was onion filled...

Weird toppings and way, way, overpriced. My roommates sometimes have a tendency to get drunk and become pseudo yuppies and order this crap. A Totino's pizza has more appeal. Save your money and order from or eat elsewhere.

DELIVERY REVIEW: I'm still on the hunt for a good delivery pizza in Tacoma. Especially a consistently good delivery pizza in Tacoma. First of all, the portion sizes here are very generous for a delivery order; as a result, we over-ordered on our first go. The delivery person was very prompt in arriving at our secured building and finding our apartment - something no delivery person has ever done! I always have to go downstairs to get them. The pasta was not out of this world but it wasn't bad, either. The mozzarella sticks we ordered as a possible failed-pizza-appeasement for my kid were clearly the frozen standard food service kind but they arrived piping hot, which made them a little more appealing. The four-cheese pizza was nice, the Swiss is an interesting balance to the other cheeses present but I missed the nuttiness of feta or Gorgonzola. This pizza was pretty good reheated, as well. Tiramisu seemed to have ricotta rather than mascarpone, which threw off the balance of texture and flavor. It wasn't bad, just a little too loose and watery, I think. The website and menu indicate that they have gluten-free options; of course, I'd want to check with the kitchen how they handle cross-contamination in what is likely a gluten-heavy kitchen. We'll try it again and see how it holds up for a few more visits/orders. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way, but if you're in the neighborhood or looking for delivery you can certainly do much worse.

Fantastic pizza delivery. I've ordered online and also over the phone, and they are at your place in about 35 minutes from the time you place the order!! (Plus the delivery guy is so sweet and smiley.) Their calzones are awesome.. delicious cheese-y cheese and a really special crust. I also enjoy their breadsticks (soft, not too greasy). Eating in is nice too. I've been there with groups and only 2.. the servers are classy and treat you like you're the only people in the restaurant. Craving pasta? Go for the chicken parm, like my friend Nicole did once... she had leftovers for two days, dude.

Not even worth a star. If you ever stand for anything just and ethical please don't ever give $ to this restaurant! The owner is a sexist pig that thinks it's ok to intimidate and harass female employees. If they complain or stand up for themselves they're fired. Shame on you Monas! Tacoma is smarter than you and more caring than you'll ever be.

My friend ordered a plate of meatballs to be delivered. Upon receiving, the meatballs were CUT in HALF making it look like there were more meatballs than what there really was! She Paid $12. for 6 medium sized meatballs !!! She called the restaurant letting them know how she felt, did they do anything about it? NO This is not even my complaint, however it disappointed me so much that I felt the need to write about. Why is it so hard to get your money's worth these days? Isn't having a satisfied customer worth giving portion sizes that is at least Fair?? Not only did Mona's lose 1 customer, but they lost 2 just because I witnessed the ordeal.

I just have to finally do a review on this place after numerous times from ordering at Mona's. So today after spending $100 on a delivery order, we did not get the pizza that we ordered. Two out of the 5 orders were incorrect. My co-worker had ordered a gluten free crust pizza and was charged $18 for a small pizza. I had ordered a pizza and all the items that I requested were missing except one. Basically every time we order from Mona's we always have something missing with our order. Last time when we ordered they forgot our marinara sauce. When I called and mentioned it to the gal on the phone (Jessica) she replied "oh yea we got it this time!" and hung up on me! I was still talking to her and was shocked that they didn't try and compensate us with adding an additional marinara to our order. So I or my co-workers will not be spending any more of our dollars at Mona's as they have forgotten one too many times and also the customer service is terrible. Every time I complain they never apologize for their mistakes and act like we are just putting them out!

  • Taylar F.

My review is missing one star because the restaurant was understaffed, and as a server that bugs me, and because they were out of the beef canneloni which is what I really wanted... However the food was great, I got the Quattro formaggio, we ordered two pizzas, a tortellini dish, two half salads and hot wings... The servings are huge, the pasta was good and hot! Pizza is pretty awesome, and the wings were ok. Service wasn't bad but our server seemed very out of it... I have had food from here one other time and I would definitely feel comfortable suggesting it to others. No complainants here!

We regularly order delivery at my place of business. Other coworkers have reported good success ordering from this business, but after my last 2 attempts-I give up! I ordered on-line for delivery both times. Both times the order delivered was wrong and it took forever (and multiple phone calls) to get replacement food. Neither time was there any apology or any attempt to make amends for the mistakes (other than replacing the food already paid for). When and if you finally get your food, it's good-but I won't be ordering from them again. When I order lunch, I actually want it delivered so that I can eat it somewhere close to lunch time. I'll stick to ordering from more reliable businesses.

I just tried these guys for the first time tonight and they were really good! I got the northwest special on gluten free crust, and it was very fresh and not greasy at all. The customer service was super friendly and I was delighted to see the delivery man pull up in his cute little vespa and deliver with a smile. He even took a minute to chat with me. The price is a little high, but for gluten free, its not much more than dominos, for a way better pizza and service. Thanks Mona!

My husband and I came here with a restaurant.com coupon, and we had a really nice meal. We'll definitely be back. I had the white spaghetti and he had the baked spaghetti with marinara. Both were great, not greasy or salty at all. Both were a great deal, $11 or $12 or so, and came with soup/salad and perfect toasty garlic bread, so it was a huge meal, we both had leftovers. The soup with my meal was a really nice light lentil soup. The service was very pleasant and pretty fast, too. They are also offering a deal that is basically like an electronic punch card, spend so much and get some amount off your next bill. That and the fact that they deliver definitely ensures that we will try more off their menu!

My wife and I went here when a Man vs. Food marathon gave me a calzone craving. Our first impression was only "ok," because the place looked empty, and it was freezing cold inside. The waitress was great, one of the few good ones out there; she actually had a sense of humor. Beer selection... meh. Two ales from the Harmon, good. The other five beers available... mostly pilsners, and mostly bland. They had a wine list, but I wasn't feeling like wine so I have no idea how that was. I ordered the Neron Calzone and settled into watching the Colts lose to my hometown Jets. (YAY!) The calzone was great, with a good crust, fantastic ricotta, and lots of garlic and roasted peppers. I really liked the marinara. I definitely want to come back and check out the pizza.

I received a flyer for takeout and decided to use it one night. Amazing ! Ordered a pizza with roasted garlic and chicken and a chef's salad. Arrived in about 30 min's and not only was it the best pizza ever, the presentation was perfect. They actually put toppings on the pizza. Mona's is worth checking out.

I was disappointed with the food and atmosphere of the place. The ingredients in my chicken, mushroom, and pesto pasta dish were mainly canned food items, down to the sauce. The taste was bland and there was no color or life to the dish. My daughter's pizza was homemade, but too oily and again lacked flavor. I was disappointed in the atmosphere. I have a 9-year-old daughter; they had a Police bust show playing on one of the televisions. I was taken aback they had televisions in a restaurant I am use to that in a sports pub. The wait staff is nice, our waitress was kind enough to change the channel, I did tell her I would not mind it turned off, but she found tennis and that was at least better than criminals being arrested. I know I could have cooked a better meal at home with fresh ingredients and with a more vibrant taste. The prices are reasonable, but again when I know I can prepare a better meal at home so I felt it was a waste of money.

It is a nice enough place. The staff was friendly, polite and kind. It seems more to be a good place for great dinner. I would return.

Thus far have only experienced the delivery service but ever time I call I get my usual classic meat calzone. I don't know what they do to this calzone but its like my first time ever time I see her!!!!!

I ordered the meat lasagna and it was awful. There was absolutely no meat, it was drowning in sauce, and the garlic bread was two inedible slivers of stale, burnt bread. Stouffers makes a better lasagna than this place.

Well saw the review in the TNT last Fri, so we gave it a shot...woo hoo!! Got there right before the dinner rush, and lucky we did, not sure if they were short staffed, or not expecting to have a dinner rush only being open a few weeks. We were one of 8 tables, and 1 lady waiting on a to-go order and the phone ringing off the hook....anyway, the only server/hostess/to-go order person was very nice and fast. Had to wait a little bit for the check, which for a family of 4 with tip was only $50....I used to be a server, so I can be a little more forgiving, I hope that won't make anyone miss out from comming here... My husband and I got Calzones, both huge and great..Kids got pizza, fresh...Everything was fresh...and the dining room was clean as well....We will be back... they have a website monapizzaandpasta.com

I loved this place! I thought it was cute inside without going overboard, they had decent prices, and dinner was delicious!! We decided to try the place out when we received a coupon in the mail. They have a small parking lot out front. The waitress who sat us was very nice. The one downside was our waitress for the meal. She never seemed to be there when we needed her, she brought the salad with dinner, asked 4 times if we wanted anything besides water, then didn't fill the water, etc. We ordered a custom pizza. I loved the number of different toppings to choose from. We decided on gyro meat and proscuitto- which there was tons of both meats on top! I will definitely come back and try the gnocchi next time.

I learned of this place while reading a review in a issue of "The Volcano" which gave it a decent review. I ordered a Neron calzone, which honestly was pretty darn good! It definitely could have used a little more ingredients but I was satisfied. Mona's passed the first and most crucial test so I think I will be back again and try something else on the menu! p.s. Great to read on another review on here that they deliver. that is INSANE!!! Never heard of an Italian restaurant around these parts that delivers!

The food is Amazing!! This is our go to for delivery and we haven't been let down. Being able to take our time and order online straight from the menu is super convenient and easy! The specialty pizzas are great, the salads are always fresh and crisp, and my personal favorite is the gnocchi gorgonzola... what a treat on a chilly night!

The pizza is good but the delivery service is lacking. We called at 11am for a delivery to be set up for 1pm when all of the coworkers would have time to meet and eat. A little after 1, I called to see why it hadn't shown up yet and was assured that it was on its way. By 1:30, when it still hadn't arrived, I called again. This time I was told that there was a mix up in the kitchen resulting in the pizza not being cooked in time. I asked if there was anything they could do to help make up for the mistake (hoping maybe a discount or offer for future) but was told they wouldn't do anything about it. It finally showed up 45 minutes late....Not impressed. If you want to keep customers, offer an incentive after you screw up. My other coworkers have been to Mona's before and will likely be back but as a first time customer; this ruined it for me.

Caution! Don't order online. And if you call, expect an attitude. Ive tried this place twice about a year ago with no problems. Food is mediocre at best but I was in a pinch to order dinner tonight so I placed an online order like I've done before. Their site says delivery time is estimated at 35 minutes. After waiting one hour, I call to find out what happened to the delivery. A clearly rushed woman answers the phone and I tell her the situation. She says "oh yeah we are really busy". So I give her my address (twice) and puts me on hold for several minutes. She comes back on the line and tells me that my order never went through. I said "you're not serious!" She says in an exhausted tone, "I'm dead serious." No apology, no remorse for the situation I now have. Nothing. I exclaim, "what kind of customer service can you provide for this?" And the woman says "I can give you a 20% off coupon for one item" and "that's the best I can do". Ha! You can get that same coupon in the flyers. Whatever. I'm done with them.

Maybe eating in is better but calzone was good the chicken Alfredo looked and tasted terrible I think improving the sauce and cutting the chicken better

This place is yummy. I ordered Chicken Penne. It was very delish. The garlic bread was super yummy also...It wasn't really busy at all. Only two other customers I saw. But overall not too shabby.

My husband and I decided to try this place because our niece had ordered the Gorganzola Gnochhi delivered and loved it. First, a lady that was leaving stopped by our table and gave us some coupons with the comment that she and her husband were so unhappy with the service that they did not intend to return. We ordered anyway. My husband had the gnocchi and I had the White Spaghetti. Hubby thought his was good, but the salad wasn't very imaginative. Our waittress made sure I understood that White Spaghetti did not have a sauce, but was tossed with olive oil and Mizithra Cheese. That was OK by me, but there wasn't enough of the cheese and I'd prefer butter to the olive oil. We tried to use one of the coupons for $5 off our meal, but we were told you had to spend $31 before taxes to qualify. Waittress suggested we add desserts to qualify, but we didn't want that much food. There was a very noisy group seated next to us with a child that was shouting and running around and the parents made no attempt to stop her. After that group left, the waittress went around apologizing to the rest of us. In all, it was an ok place, but I want better than ok, so we won't be going back.

What a waste of money. Ineptitude at it's finest. 1. Ordered over the phone. Was told 30-45 mins. for my order, arrived 1hr 15mins later. 2. Delivery man, though instructions were clearly written on receipt, went to the wrong door and woke up the other tenants by ringing the doorbell. It clearly stated which door to go to. 3. Wrong salad dressing included with the salad. 4. White spaghetti (according to their menu) is to include olive oil, mizithra, basil, and garlic. What I received was almost completely dry noodles, one basil leaf cut on top, about 15 tiny shavings of mizithra, and 3 whole garlic cloves thrown in. The spaghetti itself required about 2 tbsp. of pepper and salt just to give it any flavor at all, and luckily I keep olive oil stocked in my cupboard. I was charged $10 for cooked noodles, I could have boiled them myself for $1. 5. The other entrée, spaghetti with meatballs, arrived cold and with 4 overcooked and hard meatballs. 6. To top it off, after multiple attempts at contacting the manager, I called again only to be told he is not available, then placed on hold for 5 mins, to have the same inept crew member answer to state "yeah, so yeah no one is here that is a manager." His "sister" also answered and was hard pressed to give out the managers name or state when he would be available. After reading a few of these reviews, I am going to gather that even wasting the time attempting to communicate with this "staff", for lack of a better word, is pointless. Good luck Mona's, you obviously need it.

Mona's pastas are quite good. The sauces appear to be handmade, and the entress like Chicken Parmingana are quite good. The pizza offering are varied, with different sauces and toppings to select from. The Mona Tortellini is rich, with generous amounts of mushrooms and bacon in a cream sauce. Canneloni is filled with ground beef and spinich, which lightens the meat, but the two ingredients are well-balanced. The Chicken Parmingana was generously covered in melted cheese, with a very generous serving of chicken, and a modest side of pasta. Meals come with soup or salad, and some garlic bread. The restaurant is clean, and the interior is simple. There is seating availible for large groups. The service is well done, but the delivery service is exceptional. We ordered some pasta for delivery, and the salads did not come with the pasta, and we realized after the driver left. There was plenty of food, so we just wrote off the salads. About an hour later, the driver was back with our salads, because he figured out he forgot them. We did not call the restaurant to let them know. We were very impressed with the honesty and follow through on a complete order. They gained a lot of trust with us on that one. I can definitely suggest Mona.

Found this place Via Yelp one day while my friend Kevin and I were broke and starving. Delivery was fast and food was DELICIOUS. Went in with another friend after my great experience to find I wasn't quite as satisfied. I feel like this place has a hit-or-miss value to it however even the miss isn't bad... Just not great.

I recently moved back to Tacoma and have been looking for a great value Italian restaurant and this place fits the bill and delivers. I have had the cannelloni, chicken penne , and several other dishes, and I have yet to be disappointed. This is no Verazno's but the food tastes better than Josepie's at 1/2 the price. This is definitely going to be a regular haunt for the Beaman clan!

I had gotten a flyer in my mailbox, and i stared at it... and stared at it... and stared at it... finally... i called, and ordered, had it delivered... *melt* here is what i ordered- Gnocchi Gorgonzola pasta (OMG!) procuitto deluxe pizza (OMGOMG!) Neron Calzone (eh- would stick to the pizza) my order came with a salad and breadsticks the pasta was fantastic, the gnocchi cooked perfectly. full of flavor, i could tell they used real cream and the pizza THE PIZZA... was amazing, the ingredients were fresh, the goatcheese on the pizza was a nice flavor contrast the calzone was good to try but i don't know if im actually a calzone fan to begin with anyway... i will be ordering again, far superior quality to what we usually order for pizza. i definately want to try their wings... the delivery charge was very reasonable. only 99c compared to pizza hut and dominos who charge almost $3

I called to order a pizza for delivery. The woman who answered the phone had a smug tone in her voice. She stated she couldn't deliver to my location because we were out of their delivery range. On the website it states "delivery within 6 miles", but does not specify zoning, or provide a preface that certain areas in that 6 mile radius aren't covered. I was 5.8 miles away. She "checked with the manager" and apparently he refused to deliver here. Just a note to the business owner: if you aren't going to follow through on a commitment that you make in writing on your website then do not post it. Additionally, if you can't follow through on a commitment then don't let your employs act rude, and smug toward the customer on the phone as if they are proud that you didn't get your way. Poor experience overall with the person on the phone, and the fact that the manager actually REFUSED to come to the phone to even talk to me. I was polite the entire time I was talking with them, and professional about the whole situation, but they will never see my business after treating me this way. Too bad, considering I'm new to Tacoma. That pizza that they call customer service left a bad taste in my mouth.

Went back for the pizza. Its not that it was bad or anything. Had a nice, soft buttery crust with good flavored sauce (coulda used a little more, though). My problem was either in the moron who took the order or the idiot who cooked it. I asked for onions and peppers on 1/2 of the pizza. Pretty simple right. When I got it home, it had onions on 1 side and peppers on the other. The lesson here would be to look at the pizza B4 you pay for it. I really dont know who to blame for this debacle, but if I were the cook, I would have questioned making a Franken-pizza like that. It was a 15 inch pizza and if you add the IQ of the 2 clowns responsible for this mess, I'm sure thats the number you'd get. "Where's Ashton, am I bein' punked?" Play your jokes on somebody else cuz I wont be back.

Good food at decent prices, with friendly service. I always get the greek calzone. It's excellent! The baklava is good too. I hope this restaurant stays in business for good; it seems this hasn't been a good location for prior establishments. There is plent of parking, and the dining area is tidy and roomy. The European music they play in the background adds a unique touch, too.

We went here on a Saturday evening. The place had one couple and one group of 4 in it. About halfway through our meal the place was about half full. We ordered the: Cobb Salad (yummy) Cheese Bread (awesome) Gnocci Gorgonzola (very good and big portion) Calzone (made my own, was great, soft bread and stuffed full). Our service was good. Not spectacular but not horrible. Middle of the road. The location is kind of strange and since we dont live in Tacoma, we probably won't go back unless we were for some reason in that neighborhood. Food was affordable and good for the portion sizes. The restaurant setting was interesting only because it has sort of a low key look to it at first glance but it has a fireplace, a big screen tv playing a football game that was on mute and like dance club music playing a little louder than need be. We weren't sure whether we were in a romantic restaurant, sports bar or dance club. Overall a good place to try out and definitly worth it if you're in that neck of the woods. And hey the food is great, and that's what you're going to a restaurant for right??

A little sad. Over cooked food and only one waitress. Got a little snippy when I sent my over cooked food back. Not going to be back here. Waitress sucks! Also you will be charged extra if you use your debit/credit card if your bill is less than $12. The waitress said, that's just how it is. I don't make the rules. One of the ladies at lunch with me asked the waitress for something to which she replied she will get it when she can. Other people have left and come since she was first asked for it and she had to do that first. Anytime she was asked anything, she had something smart to say or was just really rude. I did NOT tip her. She didn't come to check on anyone. When she finally did, she said do you want your checks? Another companion said, uh no, I'd actually like some coffee... Smh. Will never go there again. Food was not good at all either... Coffee was ok.

Me: are there onions on the Greek calzone because there are on the Greek pizza? Waitress: does it say there are on the menu? Calzone: loaded with onions Wife's meal was no good either and the waitress dropped off a pitcher big enough for 3 1/2 glasses of water and didn't return until the meal was over. Bad food bad service, I won't go back

We (hubby and I) went here for lunch today. It was 12:30 and the place was a desert town. We were the ONLY people there- almost didnt go in for that very reason. But we braved it and went in. Service was friendly. We split an order of mozzarella sticks. Those were pretty good. Didn't taste homemade though. I got the Meatballs with meat sauce and parmesan. Meatballs tasted like Subway's (I used to work there in HS). Not that they tasted bad, but they didn't taste homemade like I anticipated from an italian restaurant. I wouldn't order them again, not for the price I paid. My husband got the Meat calzone. That was delicious. Probably won't go back unless we're in the area. Even then the chances are slight.

Felt like eating Italian food, and my sister had heard from several people that this place was pretty good so we went to check it out. Service was very good. We were well "watered" by a couple of different people (I love ice water.) Was hoping for a calamari starter, but alas, they don't have one. For some strange reason they have buffalo wings. I guess it's not JUST an italian restaurant. You have to love Tacoma. (Born and raised - I'm not being elitist.) I had the Shrimp Fettucine with a side salad. The pasta portion is pretty big, I couldn't finish the whole thing. Most of the restaurant was full when we got there and the remaining tables filled as we were leaving, so that's a good sign. I did think that it's strange to have 2 televisions in the dining area, as if it's a sports bar, but I guess it's 2011 and people just can't live without the news or sports while they're eating. I guess the tv's go with the wings. I noticed the pizzas on other tables...they looked yummy. Will have to go back and try one.

My experience here was just as delicious as all the other reviews. I went with a friend and we both had the calzones which were amazing - homemade dough, hot and cheesy, and you can choose your own toppings. The service was excellent as well, and I will definitely be back the next time I visit Tacoma.

Mona's has a bit of a diner decor, which I'm sure is meant to be rustic, but could use an upgrade. Zachary our waiter was green, but very pleasant. The pizza, spaghetti, and lasagna was good, but my fettuccine was lukewarm and then returned to the table with a hair in it. The house wine left me wondering what the heck the garage looked like and I was very surprised to find that they had charged me half price for pasta that I hadn't eaten. I'd order delivery, but not fettuccine, maybe if Pizza Hut stopped delivering Pasta, because that was much more tasty.

My wife and order fro Mona's regularly! Their calzones are by far the best I've ever had! Pizza is very good also! Atmosphere leaves a little to be desired, but the food and the friendly wait staff more than make up for it! I highly recommend this place!

My my my, how far we have fallen over the last year eh? My first three trips here were great all the way around. I went here recently for dinner and it was awful. Terrible service, dirty silverware and sub-par food. I had the Quattro Formagio with meat sauce. The reason I found it lacking was due to the small amount of sauce and meat in the sauce. It was basically a plate of spaghetti noodles with enough sauce to make the noodles orange in color. Really weak and I seriously doubt I will be back.

Ever since we moved to Tacoma we've been looking for a pizza place that is close by and thank goodness we found one. This place, although it's been several iterations since we've lived here, has finally started to shine as an italian restaurant. Decor isn't much but the pizza, well the sizes are generous and the crust is perfect. The lady who apparently owns or is part owner is from Bulgaria, she said her grandmother is Italian, and told us they make everything from scratch. I ordered a margarhita pizza since I love those flavors and it appeals to me because it doesn't have red sauce. When I commented on that, she said they can do anything you want with any pizza or any pasta to make the flavor combination that you really enjoy. My husband had lasagna and said it was really tasty and a generous portion as well. Came with salad and bread so was a full meal. The prices were moderate and it's going to become one of our favorite places.

Went for a late lunch today the place was deserted. The service was friendly, the food was tasty the have a good selection for those who are gluten intolerant like my wife. I found it strange that they could not give me oil and vinegar on the side for my salad.

Why on earth is all of my credit card info including the expiration date printed on all of the food tickets stapled on my to go bags. I dont like that. They are putting there customers at rick. There food is gross and always has a huge amount of hard over cooked cheese on it. Yuk!

This place just opened up last week. It's so new that they haven't changed the signs yet. It was a Greek restaurant, but now they are Italian, but they do serve some Greek food. I had a good gyro. The Calzones look big. The food was good and the serves was fast and friendly. They have a take out menu. Parking was a small parking lot in front.

We have been there twice and both times the food was wonderful & the service was excellent. We have ordered different things (fettucine Alfredo, calzone, meatball sandwich, quattro formaggio pasta) and it was all outstanding. This is our new "go to" place for Italian. I am very particular about my Italian food and find most local places average at best. But I highly recommend Mona. It's a tough economy out there for new restaurants and I sure hope they are successful.

Love the food! I love their food! Did I say I loved the food?! I've had ravioli, pizza, calzone, salads...all were just great! Ate in, had it delivered...I love this place! Mrs. and I tried Mona's tonight for the first time. No comments on the actual restaurant, as we called out for delivery. But I can definitely comment on the food. Short and simple, it was great. My wife ordered the Greek Gyro with lamb. She was quite pleased with the flavor, the portion size and the price. The lamb was tender and well seasoned. The tzatziki was fresh and very authentic. The gyro was dressed with tomato, red onions and feta cheese. I ordered the Neron Calzone with meatballs, spinach, garlic and roasted red peppers. The crust was really crispy but there could have been more fillings. There was a lot of extra air/space inside. The flavor was great, though and the marinara sauce wasn't tangy at all. We decided to share a small Combo Special pizza with pepperoni, italian sausage, green pepper, onion, mushrooms, black olives, pizza sauce & mozzarella (minus the mushrooms and black olives for me). Honestly, it was one of the best pizzas that we have had. Absolutely blows Cloverleaf away and pretty close to Farrelli's in our humble opinion. We went with the traditional crust. It was the perfect thickness, not too thin, but not too thick. The toppings were well distributed and everything tasted extremely fresh. Once again, the sauce was not tangy (a personal pet peeve of mine). The only negative was that the italian sausage on the pizza looked and tasted exactly the same as the so-called "meatballs" that were in the calzone. Not complaining about the flavor, but if you are going to claim to have "meatballs" in your calzone, make sure they are actually meatballs! Regardless, Mrs. and I will be back again to explore the menu further. Sort of interested to try their pasta dishes out.

Found the menu delivered to our mail a couple months ago. Tried the pizza delivery five times now. All were great. Just the right amount of everything on the scrumptious crust. Prompt, friendly with a smile. I love that the menu is extensive and not just pizza. I just tried the some pasta and yum was it good. Everything was fresh and the salad that came with it crunchy not soggy. Oh and i love that they use aluminum & paper products rather than Styrofoam for their to go items. A plus!

Mona is a little depressing to me because the food is so good and yet everytime I go I seem to be the only customer. They were highly reviewed in the local paper and yet they receive little attention. They are in the located where Opa! used to be, which was a Greek restaurant that I also loved but closed down. I wonder if some of the people from Opa! stayed on because there are some similarities on the menu, including Greek pizzas. I have only tried four of the pizzas, two calzones and the cheese bread but all were excellent. They will do half and half on the pizzas even if you pick two with different sauces, and they have a lot of interesting combos. I think my favorite though is the cheese bread, it's cheap and amazing. As much as I love the other food the cheese bread is something I always order. Portions are huge and I never leave without leftovers. I wouldn't say it's the healthiest restaurant (although there are salads which I haven't tried) but its great and certainly much much better than Olive Garden. Based on the amount of food you get, in Tacoma I go here for cheap and good italian (one dish is often enough for my fiancée and I), but I also recommend Adriatic Grill for their fish dishes (by the mall, a bit pricier) and further south I strongly recommend Marzano, it is a little pricier but it has some of the best Italian food anywhere I have been, including Italy.

We are always on the lookout for reasonably priced Italian in Tacoma that's not box store quality, AKA O.G. Tried Mona's on a lark after reading good and bad reviews here. DH and I each had one of the two gnocchi dishes, both superb! Son (6) had cheese tortellini, also fantastic! BIG portions, enough for 3-4 people each, so we felt the prices were very fair. Good service despite only one server (day after Xmas); we got there about 5:30 pm on Sunday, and it filled about halfway while we were there. The pasta was VERY FRESH, made on site, as was the lentil soup, and tasted fabulous! Only downside was DH felt salad was flat; not such a big deal to me. Waitress was great w/ our son and 21-mo-old daughter. It was definitely worth the trip from our home in Tacoma Mall area!

Ordered the Pesto chicken garlic pizza and the house special pizza. The garlic on the pesto pizza was actually WHOLE cloves...yum yum yum. If you haven't tried it, you must! Delivery is fast ! I want to try something different every time, and am never disappointed. ALSO, right next door is the LOOSE WHEEL BAR AND GRILL which also is an awesome to eat!

The food and service was mediocre . Most of the items we had had been produced from a can or a previously dried product. We had puttanesca pasta, small green salad and a cheese pizza. The salad was iceberg lettuce salad mix with a some pale thinly sliced tomatoes and a some sliced black olives. The pizza crust was not done so the thin crust crusty pizza was soggy. My husbands puttanesca was a combination of rehydrated pesto tortellini with red sauce and pickled artichoke, confusing mixture. We had one beverage each, a beer and a $6.50 glass of wine. Plus it was expensive. The bill totaled $50.00. The service was odd - the first waitress seated us came back several times , did not bring us a wine list, but kept telling us she was not our waitress as she was going home someone else would be our waitress. We saw her several times after that, odd. There were about 5 tables with customers but I did not see any wait staff. We sat there for a good 10 or more minutes a waitress arrived and wanted to have our order with a sort of "you are bothering me" attitude. I asked for a wine list. She grabbed one handed it to me, "Well" She said. Afraid to let her leave I quickly ordered a glass of wine and we both ordered our meals. The food arrived fast, how hard can it be to open cans and bags and reheat things. We will not go back.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
