Nice enough of a place for a bite if you're a stranger to town and don't know where else to go... Mediocre food and wine. Definitely not worth the price paid. My wife and resides in Tacoma and truly missed the old restaurant, Altezzo Ristorante when it was the Tacoma Sheraton. It was one of the better Italian food experiences in the region. We decided to do a "birthday" dinner here last week. It was a Saturday and the place was not all that busy. Clue #1. I order the daily special, called the Tacoma Farmer's Market Special, grilled pork tenderloin with grilled peach and raspberry dressing (my word, forgot what they called it). My wife ordered the Mac and Cheese. We read good reviews in the Tacoma Tribune about this item as well as the Fries and Gravy. Had to give it a try. The server was pleasant but did not know what the daily special was. Clue #2. We got our drinks and were served a nice bread basket. Nice crusty rolls and rosemary infused flat bread. Butter came with the bread. The butter was served in a small ramekin with a sprinkling of coarse salt on top, nice touch, but was very soft and close to being melted. The good bread caused me to miss or acknowledge clue #3 (melted butter for bread). We decided on our meal, my wife had ordered a salad and it arrived a very short time after our drinks. Nice mixed green salad. She commented it was "over dressed". I gave it a taste and like the nice grated parmesan cheese and balsamic vinegar dressing. Still in the good bread mood. I ignored Clue #4. My wife finished her salad and we finished (or I finished) the bread basket and was conserving our wine waiting for our entrée. We were taking in the décor and discussing and guessing how many Chihuly glass pieces we will be able to see on displayed. There weren't that many in the public area. We waited. We waited. Clue #5. My wife commented that it must be because the Mac and Cheese takes time to prepare. I commented I hope the pork tenderloin is not already ready and waiting under a hot lamp waiting for the Mac and Cheese to be ready. We were served. Both entrée came at the same time. My pork was seasoned nicely. It had a spicy "southwestern" taste to it. The peach/raspberry dressing was a nice complement. It was the dressing that saved the dish. The pork was over cooked and almost dry. With the pork, I was served a steamed mixed veggie and mashed potato. Not unlike what you would see in a catered wedding reception or military unit banquet. Not something I expect from a "nice" restaurant. The Mac and Cheese was good and we were able to get the nice truffle aroma. There were no side items with this entrée. We finished by sharing a slice of the Mile High Chocolate cake. Good, but not great. The server came with the check and omitted the drinks. Reminded her and got a new check. Should have mentioned the dry pork...I think she knew it was not prepared correctly, because she came by asking about that...maybe if I had told her of the poorly prepared pork, she may have comp' us the drinks. With so many other great eating places in the immediate area (Pacific Grill, Stanley & Seafort, to just name a couple), will likely not go there again for "special occasions". Maybe on discounted nights like Third Thursdays for the Tacoma Art Walk we will try this place again...maybe for the Fries and Gravy.

We were invited here for a wedding rehearsal dinner and everything was delish. In particular, I enjoyed the truffle mac and cheese and ceasar salad. The service aims to please and the dessert was huge and flavorful.

The hotel restaurant in the Hotel Murano offers a nice selection of options for Tacoma, which seems to be a bit lacking in the fine cuisine front. Plus, this place is open past 8pm, which is a rarity it seems. The food isn't all that groundbreaking, but it is good. Everything tasted fresh and the service was good too. The fries and gravy is quite tasty, definitely recommend that. The fish and chips were good, but there was more beer batter than fish, which was not so hot. Milkshakes are really good and worth getting. Not a stunning place, but pretty good considering the other offerings nearby.

went here to breakfast, I got the gingerbread french toast. They were just okay. Too many flavors going on with ginger, orange, mint, maple syrup. Wish it was just a piece or two of the french toast, and some fruit or an egg or something. Too expensive for what it was. Some of the jams on our table had the seal already broken & had been used too.

I stayed at the Hotel Murano with my bf this past weekend and so we ate here a few times. While I think the prices are a bit high (only reason keeping it from the 5 stars) the food is YUMMM. I had the lobster pot pie TWICE it was so good! The crust was flaky and buttery, and the lobster inside was delicious! Generous too. But the $18 price tag was a bit much. And that was a cheap item. My bf had the crab ravioli and I couldn't help but take a few steals of it during dinner. The bread was amazing too! Slightly warm and crusty, with rosemary inside it. Different and yummy. The service was top notch too. The waiter struck up a casual convo but wasn't too nosy. The crab and corn chowder was also amazing...chunky and hearty. Overall, highly recommended for a sophisticated night out, but they could use a price makeover.

This review is for breakfast only. Pricey but fairly quick. Waitstaff was friendly and the food was tasty. Given the other breakfast options in the area and as I was already staying at the hotel this was the best.

Three may be generous...maybe not. The concepts are quite good, though the result is quite less than expected. Much of what I had was overdone/dry (mostly thinking if my salmon...and bread pudding). I noted this in other dishes, as well, including what may have been the "heaviest" black cod I've had. Delicacy is lost here. If you go, though, definitely check in! I used the "free appetizer" coupon for a fairly massive charcuterie board. While I delight in nearly can't charcuterie (and doubly when free!), this was filled with typical (though tasty enough) salami and prosciutto and bland, uninteresting cheese...still...free and some other interesting pieces (like and apple champaign jam of some sort). Passable but pass.

Bread as hard as rock, soup was industrial tasty, really weird paintings, Only good was nice and quick staff, but only because there wasn't anyone else there. Please never try this place.

This is a review for folks who are intimidated by fancy restaurants, because I am one of those people, and I don't mind admitting it. The setting is really beautiful; the hotel has a lot of glass on display, and makes good use of the location by highlighting the views with accessible, cozy spots to hang out and stare at the water. We came in on the day after Christmas, and the place was very quiet. We had really prompt and friendly service getting our drinks and a bread basket with rolls and a very tasty rosemary flatbread. I had a delicious cocktail called a "sunshine" (haha Tacoma) with pomegranate and I think vanilla vodka that was standard fancy restaurant priced, and a tad bit stronger than I would have expected, which was nice. My Mr. had a cabernet that our waiter recommended that he enjoyed. I ended up trying some of the calimari, the chef's special lobster pot pie, and the kobe burger. The calimari were nicely seasoned and very tender, but a little soggy. My lobster pot pie was almost perfect- the vegetables and the sauce were amazing, and there was a lot of really fresh and not at all overcooked lobster. My only tiny complaint was that the puff pastry crust was a little underdone for my taste, and had a little raw floury flavor to it. The kobe burger was the menu item that I'll definitely go back for. I've been disappointed with other kobe burgers I've had around town, but this was really satisfying. The beef was just delicious, and they didn't drown it in sauce. Perfectly cooked to order, mouthwatering beef, classic and fresh toppings, toasted bun (maybe brioche, not sure). It also came with a ridiculously huge serving of the best garlic fries I've had in Tacoma. They smelled like stadium garlic fries, but they were crispy and not soggy or greasy. All in all, we paid maybe $15 more for a meal for 2 and drinks than we would have for a meal at The Ram, but we had way better food, service, and ambience. The football game was on in the bar, too, so they do a tad bit of fancy but keep it really comfortable and friendly.

Cute restaurant tucked away in the Murano; a nice respite from the occasional monotony of working and eating downtown. The service was fine, the buzz good, and the salads quite nice. $14 is a bit steep for a greek salad, but it's my own fault for ordering that :) There were more tasty, reasonably priced items on the menu.

Uneven service, pretty good chow. Better value than chain coffee shops like Denny's.

Bite has great brunch, excellent coffee and the all-important mimosas. The staff is exceptional. So warm and nice and accommodating.

What I like about the Bite is how they've put a spin on some of the most basic foods...like a corn dog or bread pudding... and made it new, interesting and great tasting. The Bite is located on the third floor of the hotel Murano. Its decor is modern, comfortable, bright and open. $$$ I've only ate there during lunch. I have mixed feelings about The Bite. The food and service is kind of hit or miss...and the prices tend to be high..so you can either go in...eat something great and have awesome service and not mind paying the tab...or have descent food and mediocre service at best and pay the high priced tab. In any case I have experienced both and still like to go. Service: The last time I ate there I was with a group of people. The server took 2-3 drink orders and walked away ...there were still 2 more people to get drink orders from?!?! When we were done with our meal we ordered dessert and some of us also ordered coffee. We were told "the coffee just got dumped " ?? Awkward right ?? Everyone kind of looked at each other...and after about a 15 second pause she offered to make Americano's...no thank you...really, how long does it take to make make a fresh pot of coffee? It was just the delivery of being notified of coffee being "dumped" like "forget your coffee just pay the bill and get out" .... One of the people in my party commented that this place (The Bite) wouldn't be so bad if they didn't hire Truck-stop waitress. It was so mean, but kind of true. I've seen this server there many times before, she's very nice, but she does needs a bit more training. One last issue with service....they all seem to take your food order, deliver the food..then disappear...the place isn't that big and it's a pretty open space...but they all hide out in the back (kitchen?) and only pop around near the end of your meal to clean the plates and drop off the check...kinda hard to get a drink re-fill if your mid-meal. Odds and Ends: The menu's come on clipboards.. .which can be a pain in the butt if you have a lot of people in your party because the table is full of tableware like little plates, napkins and candles that you can't lay it down anywhere with out having to re-arrange the table scape..so to speak. The clipboards make me giggle because I think its cheesy to have your menu's on clip boards, plus it makes me feel like I should be taking attendance...Bueller...Bueller.... It can be a bit chilly in the winter time..for some reason I always feel a little draft. I asked the server about the draft one time they said that the kitchen was receiving a delivery or a delivery door was open somewhere and that its like a tunnel and whips right through there during the delivery because of the door being open. The curtains that hang from the ceiling were even swaying back and forth, I used my coat as a blanket for my legs. :o) The FOOD: Again I've only ate there for lunch. Appetizers: Charcuterie and cheese board ($12)- Perfect little board display of meat and cheese to share if meeting someone for a drink and a little snack. I recommend the Polka dot Riesling....SOOO GOOD! Crab Corn Chowder - ($6 -$8) Very Good Lobster corn dogs ($12) - Very Good, who would have thought a corn dog, but with lobster!! You get 2 sticks..they are kind of small...you might get 2 -3 bites out of 1 corn dog because they use petite lobster tails, but a must try. Kobe slider ($7) - good...really don't remember much about them..your basic slider..they do have blue cheese on them. Meal time: Pac northwest cobb salad ($16) - Very Good. I have a friends who said the Greek Salad is one of the better ones she has had with the perfect texture of crunch to it. Micro-brewed fish 'n chips ($14) - This is by far my favorite thing to have there. The fish is pronominal..its one fillet perfectly dipped served with garlic fries (light flavor, not like the pungent SafeCo ones) and a yummy cabbage fennel slaw. I crave their fish and chips!! Prime rib dip ($13) - I haven't tried this, and don't think I will...I watched a friend eat this once and he had take it a part and eat the prime rib with his knife and fork because the bread was either to big or crunchy or falling apart or something..anyways it looked way to messy. Dessert: Coffee and donuts ($7) - OMG this is soooo rich and sweet and a must try as well....its warm krispy kreme donut bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and espresso chocolate sauce!!! Its served in a coffee cup, watch it because its hot..I burnt my tongue b/c I couldn't wait for it to cool..it was sooo good but extremely filling...you might be able to take 4 bites before you push it away and slip in to a sugar coma while smiling.

I tried it for breakfast on a Sunday and was very pleased with the atmosphere, upscale casual, the tablewear was new, clean and an exciting design, the food was good, but the price was rather high.

Based on the first (and only) review of Bite, we decided to try having brunch there today before going to the Tacoma Art Museum. We were surprised to discover that Bite is a restaurant inside the Hotel Murano. The decor is pleasant and modern and we were seated immediately and presented lunch menus. It turns out that breakfast stops at 11:30, and that they don't do brunch on Saturday. We went on to order four different lunches, the Reuben, the Fish & Chips, the Rosemary Club and the Chicken Panini. The Panini was cold and barely toasted, so we had to send it back in exchange for another Rosemary Club (this was BEFORE anyone had tasted the club sandwich). The Rosemary Club sandwich featured processed turkey - the kind you get in a blister pack in the supermarket - and had a flavor that all three of my lunch companions described as reminiscent of Ben Gay. The Reuben was OK, and the Fish & Chips were actually pretty good. The service was pleasant and efficient - definitely the best thing about the place. They even cheerfully exchanged the cold Panini and took the second inedible club sandwich off of the bill. still, in the final analysis, two out of four of our meals were just plain bad, and that's an unacceptable batting average, even for a hotel restaurant. For the price, Bite really needs to get its act together.

The positives? For a tapas-style bar restaurant, the portions are extremely large. The negatives? Flavorless, overgrilled Waygu beef slider--the meat was abused on the grill. A tremendous disservice to the ingredients. Other food was unremarkable, flavors were quite bland on the whole. We ordered a sample of many dishes, the best being the Salmon Carpaccio with limoncello.

The food was pricey, and wasn't fabulous. It wasn't worth the price, but it is the only restaurant in a boutique hotel, so not much choice. 2 stars. I ate at the bar, and Kat, the bartender, was very helpful. She was very friendly and gave great advice on ordering, the Tacoma area, where to avoid walking alone, and things to consider when looking for apartments in Tacoma. She also got to know the people that frequented the restaurant during their stay which gave a nice personal touch to the place. She elevated the place to 3 stars. I wouldn't go back for food, but I might go back for drinks and suggestions from Kat.

My girlfriend and I went here for our anniversary. The menu looked promising and we had not been before so we thought that we would give it a shot. We had the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and they were excellent. We both had a salad which were both good as well. For dinner my girlfriend had the mac and cheese which was absolutely delicious. I had the grilled tofu (we are both vegetarians) and it was HORRIBLE! It was inedible. Thank goodness we had appetizers and a salad beforehand otherwise I would have walked away from the restaurant hungry. There was maybe 5 other people in the restaurant and the service was still extremely slow. I would hate to see things when they had a full house. Maybe it was an off day for our waitress, who knows. Overall the experience was ok but considering the price, I would have to hear something really great about it before I gave it another shot.

I stayed at Hotel Murano while in town for the Washington State Bar Exam. Although I had a less-than-stellar experience at the hotel itself, I really enjoyed my dinner at Bite. Bite is not a place to come if your looking for a large menu, affordable prices, and generous portions. It's quite the trendy restaurant (I mean, they call their happy hour appetizers "noshes"--need I say more?). Still, I was looking for a relaxing evening to take my mind off of my impending doom, and I thought a nice dinner at Bite would do the trick. When I walked in, I was greeted by a gentleman who led me to my table and provided me with a wine menu. Their wine menu was great. I settled on the Kiona Riesling, which I really enjoyed. As alluded to above, their dinner menu is on the limited side. For dinner, they essentially have three categories of food--meat, seafood, and vegetarian. Within each category, they have four dishes. While a number of those dishes sounded absolutely amazing (grilled ribeye? truffle mac and cheese? YUM!), I decided on the risotto, a vegetarian dish with spring peas, asparagus, and parmesan. The risotto was to die for. Risotto can be so tricky to execute--you have to make it creamy without being mushy, and rich without it being overly-dense. Bite nailed it. The vegetables were also done perfectly: they had a nice bite to them without being underdone. The salty shaved parmesan was the icing on the cake, so to speak. I just wish there had been a little more of it! As for the service, it was fantastic throughout the night. The server was very attentive and friendly. Oh, and the view is simply phenomenal. The restaurant is located on the fourth floor of the hotel, and, because it's on a hill, you get gorgeous views of the city. If you're staying at Hotel Murano or just live in the Tacoma area, Bite is certainly a place to consider for a classy evening (a date, perhaps?). I know if I'm ever in the area again, I'll keep Bite in mind!

The Bite is a classy, exceptional restaurant. I would highly recommend the Bite if you are looking for a fancy dining experience. PROS: My fiancé and I have been there a few times. Each time, we were instantly seated. The design is beautiful. When you walk into Hotel Murano, you can tell that you are going somewhere high quality. The lighting in the restaurant is very calming. Staff is pretty attentive when we needed water or more bread. The menu is diverse. Salads, soups, burgers, pasta, etc. But each item has its own finesse. I remember the Beet Carpaccio and the Green Market salads. They were very lite, refreshing, delicious, flavorful, but at the same time, simple. The Grilled Tofu was another item I tried. It felt Asian, but with an American twist with soft chunks of butternut squash. We tried the blueberry bread pudding also. Very, very, very moist, sweet, delicious, I couldn't stop licking the plate when no one was looking. CONS: The price. Ouch. It's a bit much for the portions you get. If you eat like a Viking, this may not satisfy your needs. The seating is also a bit small if you are stuck in a shared seating situation with other customers. You will hear loud, awkward conversations of the customers next to you. Apparently, it's a good date spot because we couldn't help eavesdropping while waiting for our food. Overall, if you are looking for something fancy with portions that aren't hard on your stomach, the Bite is a nice experience to enjoy.

One of my favorite upscale breakfast places in Tacoma. Usually hotel restaurants are the best places to eat; at least in my travels, but here at Hotel Murano that is definitely not the case. One of the best places to have egg benedict and of course their bacon is great too. The setting is upscale contemporary, quiet, and clean. The service has been above average or outstanding depends on whom is serving you and the food has consistently been very good and fast to the table. Yet I have never at anything else than breakfast here. I would probably put this as my number one breakfast place in Tacoma, but you will spend a little more than most places. But I guess you get what you pay for and it holds true for Bite.

My friend and I went to eat lunch here and the food was amazing. Restaurant is in the murano hotel and is a hidden gem. The waiter was friendly and we ordered spicy chicken, truffle fries, mushroom soup, Blt salad and southwestern chicken salad. Everything was delicious and I was really impressed. we will be back again most of the things on the menu you can get during happy hour bonus!

Being a local foody I've tried just about every breakfast spot we have to offer on Saturdays. The Bite may have one of the best to offer! Menus small but everything is amazing. They actually use REAL eggs which is always a plus for me. Pancakes melt in your mouth. (Top Notch Staff)

We stayed in the Murano hotel last night and as my wife was tired we did carry-out from this place. They were prompt and friendly. Got an excellent bottle of Washington state pinot gris, the truffle mac & cheese, and the clam linguine. The food was terrific in terms of flavor, my only knock on it being that some of the clams had a bit of grit still in them otherwise I would have given 5 stars. Hard to believe a place with food this good didn't have more people around.

With a group of 7, going out to eat is a challenge, especially in a new city. We decided to have dinner at Bite, which was in the hotel where we were staying. We were the only people in the dining room besides a table of two. I used the Yelp check-in offer to get a free appetizer, and we chose the poutine, which I enjoyed. Unfortunately, the entrees took a long time, the fish was dry, and my tofu was tepid - I was too hungry to send it back. Our server kept forgetting to bring sugar and an iced tea. Overall a disappointment. Extra star for the great service we received at the bar when my husband and I stayed behind for a nightcap alone. Second shot is half off!

gorgeous views of a misty Mt. Rainier (in the summertime). friendly waitstaff and delicious breakfast. we'll be back for happy hour some time soon. and the price was much lower than i imagined a nice hotel restaurant would be. and parking a few blocks up the hill was free (90 minutes).

I had the opportunity to enjoy the raw oysters and cooked scallops this evening at the happy hour in the lounge. It was incredible. The food was very tastily paired with a Pinot Grigio. The barmaid's service was first class. I will be back. F

I was invited here on a date and I like free food, so everything was set to go well. This restaurant is located in a hotel in downtown Tacoma. It looks nice and features some pretty cool glass art. We walked up to the restaurant and were given a friendly greeting and seated by the window so we could have a view. I thought that was nice. I noticed there are quite a few weird digital art pieces in the restaurant that look like some kind of virtual porn star head shots. It's very strange. Anyway, our waiter was an older gentlemen and he was very good. We ordered the cheese board, clam linguini, and halibut. I also also ordered a Moscow mule, which was very good. The cheese board was okay. It was basically three of the same cheeses with different 'seasonings' and a few meats. The problem I had was with my halibut dish. The halibut was cooked perfectly and tasted very good. However, there as a pile of greens on the plate crusted with dirt. That is no exaggeration. Can a girl get some washed salad? The edges were also brown, which is not that big of a deal, but reflects some serious laziness. Also, the pieces were just thrown on the plate and they were way to large to eat with a fork. Generally, that plate was a mess, including the mashed potatoes which were bland and way too thick. My date's clam linguini was a big bowl of liquid. The wine in the sauce wasn't cooked off completely, so it had a bitter flavor. I didn't want to complain about my food, since I was on a date and it seemed like it would make a bad impression. I wouldn't care much about yelping my experience, but a bunch of dirt all over my plate is not cool. If you're not going to wash the salad, what other standards are not being followed? At least the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. That's the only reason Bite gets three stars.

Located on the fourth floor in Hotel Murano, Bite is a cute restaurant. We had a meeting in a side room where we also enjoyed dinner. I had the filet mignon with blue cheese, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. Everything was wonderful. The potatoes were some of the best and the asparagus was cooked perfectly. The waiter was great and the service friendly. I would definitely go there again.

Place has become a favorite place to go to for breakfast for one reason, and one reason only, they have yummy Huckleberry Pancakes! If you haven;t had the Huckleberry pancakes, you dont know what your messing out on, the pancakes have always been cooked perfect, and get OJ with it of course. I have never been disappointed since I started coming here, so will be back plenty of more times as long as they keep the Huckleberry Pancakes on the menu!

I finally made it back to the Bite after 3 years. I used to be here a lot and things are still the same; great food, nice atmosphere and incredible service. Nice job Mayra!! Had to order the eggs benefit with the cured ham, simply outstanding. Starbucks coffee always fresh. I'll be back!

Absolute worst customer service. Graduation dinner. Special table. They gave away and tried to foist off table by door. Fully aware had given table away, hoping I would not fuss. Sorry. Fussed. Are they making it right? No idea. Still waiting for some table. This on top of 45 minute wait for food at breakfast. 20 minutes for coffee.

My husband and I had such a nice breakfast. The restaurant is located inside the Hotel Murano, which is beautifully decorated with glass art. The restaurant was packed, so we waited at the bar for a booth to open up. They serve Starbucks coffee and espresso drinks, the barista whipped us up an espresso and black drip while we waited. We watched the bartender fix at least fifteen bloody Mary's and he didn't skimp on the ingredients. After we were seated, we ordered eggs Benedict and french toast. I don't think they were prepared for as many guests as there were, the food was slow to come out. But, that didn't matter to us, we were there to talk and enjoy the ambiance. When the food did arrive, it was delicious. I've never had such perfectly poached eggs. My husbands french toast was cooked perfectly and came with a side of orange butter and mint creme fraiche. The orange butter was unbelievable tasty. The menu is small, but it was really hard to choose as everything looked good. The eggs Benedict came different ways, with spinach, salmon, crab cake or ham. My husband said the scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly and his pecan bacon was just right. I totally recommend going!!

The hubby and I checked this restaurant out because it was listed for restaurant week. The clam linguine my partner ordered was fantastic so I helped him out with that dish. I ordered a burger, which was over cooked and when I told the waitress, she immediately apologized (and apologized several more times) and got me a different burger that was perfectly cooked. I gave this place 5 stars because the service was good and it's definitely worth it to come back for happy hour ($6 for half a dozen of oysters!!! Sweet!)

One of the few places in Tacoma I venture to eat. Any where you sit is pretty private but I like the booths the best of course. It is pretty quiet and if you take the stairs, you get to see the lovely works of art. What I crave is their Eggs Benedict. Steak and Eggs are also good :)

Went this past Saturday night at about 630 pm and the place was dead. Our service was great. The food wasn't. It started with the rolls that were stale I ordered the prawn and scallop fettuccine. It was flavorful but the scallops weren't cooked all the way thru. My bf ordered the rib eye. He said it was dry and there was some weird cheese on it. He didn't care for it at all. Also the brussel sprouts it came with were hard and not cooked all the way. Of course he ate it, it was $33. The entire meal was definitely not worth the $$. We won't be returning to the restaurant but we will be staying at the Hotel Murano again.

Strange to write this but this has to be one of my favorite restaurants ever. The strange part is that it's a hotel. Normally the hotel restaraunts are just edible but this restaurant blows all the other out of the water. The staff is great and the food is phenomenal, everything is fresh and made with care with good portions. They buy from local farmers market. Must try. A special thanks to Madison (our beautiful hostess), Brittania, Dawn, and Robert (the manager) for making our 6th trip in 3 days amazing! Thank you! :-) highly recommended for breakfast and lunch.

I came on here mostly to acknowledge our wonderful server, Jesus. My friend and I came in at 12:30 on a Sunday afternoon. Our food was tasty, and the service we received was just right. Jesus was a reminder of what should be standard procedure across the board. I'm a hairdresser, so I know about personal service.

When the restaurant is inside of a hotel that is fairly popular, you can almost be guaranteed that it won't close down. I say this because my experience at the restaurant was cringe worthy. The ambience is Spartan and the bar scene is abysmal. I ordered the seared scallops and they were so salty that I almost couldn't finish them. I then tried the ceviche, and it tasted like someone had taken bay shrimp, chopped them up and threw them in a bowl and served them with some tortilla chips. So bland I could not believe it! I had the albacore tuna as my entrée. It was a small bowl with a strip of tuna served over quinoa. I tried to cut it with my fork, but that was impossible. The outside was cooked, but the inside was still cold. The top section just stripped off of the middle and I realize that this piece of frozen fish had not even been cooked all the way. And I don't mean seared with the raw middle, like it should be. I mean it was still frozen. Who serves frozen fish unless it's fish and chips?! The partner was in her late 50s and was so overwhelmed with making drinks that I didn't want to bother her with it but I had no choice. I sent it back and got the salmon which was served with asparagus. The salmon was bland but cooked okay. It was the asparagus that caught my attention because it was so gritty- I felt like the cook probably threw it on the floor, I'm not kidding! It was like sandy gritty. People always eat at this restaurant because it's convenient for them if they're staying in the hotel. And that's why it won't close due to food like this in service that was not even worth mentioning. I'm not a food snob, but I know what good food is. And for the restaurant to be inside such a nice hotel, it's almost like false advertising. Must miss!

What do you go out to a restaurant for, good service and good food, this place had neither! We should have known when we walked in on a Sunday evening and NOBODY was in the place. Service was terrible, took close to an hour to be served. Much was forgotten and when all the food was served it was DRY! 3 of us had the salmon and it was over cooked and dry....I don't recommend nobody go to this place....

Came here our first night staying at the hotel, I was not impressed from the start. The bus person sat us... Our server was overly friendly, and a little bit of a know it all... Although she did not know what ingredients were in most of the menu items, as I was looking for a vegan option for my son. After going back to the kitchen and finding out, she came back and said they had one item which was the Asian risotto. Really??? The Chef couldn't put anything else together? It wasn't crowded... Although my son said it was good, for an entree item it could have been a little more substantial. The gravy fries were good, and my chicken Caesar was ok, the chicken was really dry. My wife had the truffle mac and cheese, and it was bad. She only had a few bites, so I tried it and it tasted like bechamel sauce, no three cheese or truffle flavor at all. This place definitely missed the mark...

Went to Bite on Labor Day and had a fabulous quiet dinner for 2 (Kobe burger and Truffle Mac & Cheese). Attentive and friendly service from valet, host, and wait staff. Waitress told us about Happy Hour from 4-7pm and loved the flexibility of the later ending time and vowed to return for HH. We were excited to find a spot the might become our new regular dining destination. Rating = 5 for food, service, and ambience. Tried it again last night for HH. There was confusion about HH menu, and I had to pull up the menu from my phone before we were given the correct menu. The house salad was as we remembered, lots of freshly shaved parmigiana reggiano and delicious balsamic dressing. Fried green tomatoes were disappointing - this time with batter thicker (and overwhelming the tomato) than our last visit. Kobe slider was yummy as before, but as sliders are - just a nibble. If you prefer milder flavors, don't order the fish tacos - very spicy!!! Boisterous noise level and not the calm and elegant ambience we enjoyed on our first visit. Service was adequate but not at the level as our first experience. Rating = 2 Averaged my rating to 3. We decided we don't need to return.

Great presentation with ok food, located inside hotel. Looks like breakfast is better than lunch. I thought it was overpriced and service slow. There was a mistake with my order, but quickly resolved.

Food is good, should be more diverse and change a bit more since we are in the pacific north west , the chef should take advantage of this plethora of seasonal ingredients , instead , the menu is monotone and lacks inspiration.

Was ok. The steak was fantastic. Very tasty and well prepared. Melt in your mouth good. But... That's what my friends got. My primavera was bland and not exciting. The gravy fries were good, but quite salty. I still feel parched. The salad was ok but the rosemary in the croutons didn't match the Caesar dressing. The service was not stellar at all and often we were without water. My daughter and I shared our meals and never was extra plates brought to our table. Our server was slow and not attentive. Finally a manager took our plates. My salad bowl sat on the edge of the table in everyone's way through most of our main course. We had to ask for it to be removed. The place emulated fine dining but the service certainly was not on par. We almost had to harass them to pay. I wouldn't go back.

Came here for happy hour on a Tuesday . Dead as anything however people should be here! They have a great assortment on their happy hour menu for food. And the food is all under 10 dollars for happy hour ranging from clams, sirloin, cheese boards and prawns. :) I'd come back for this

For a hotel restaurant, it exceeded my expectations. However, I highly encourage diners to leave the Hotel Murano and seek out more interesting options for their lunch or dinner. For breakfast, since we were hotel guests with vouchers letting us order anything on the menu, it was a delight. The Hotel Murano has a great location that let us easily walk down to Pacific Avenue and eat and drink at Pacific Grill and Indochine, both recommended. We actually did visit Bite as a dinner/late night dessert option and there were **crickets** on a Saturday night. The lobby bar was fun, but The Bite, located on the fourth floor, was pretty dead. Not to say there would be a problem with the food, but it was quiet. The Breakfast menu had great choices and we settled on the Meyer Lemon Pancakes and Breakfast Club. I was really tempted by the Red Velvet pancakes, which I don't recall ever seeing on a menu, but figured they could be brilliant or horrible. Again, because it was all inclusive, we added fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee and a fruit plate, Berry Best. The last dish was a visual feast. Portions were large and if we cleaned our plates, wouldn't have been hungry until dinner. Service was delightful and we felt very well cared for as we started our day in Tacoma. My breakfast rating would be a four for hotel guests because pricing would be an issue if I was footing the full bill. Again, my recommendation isn't as high for lunch and dinner since the city is at your footsteps. Go forth and wander!

Surprisingly disappointed with our experience at Bite. The nice, modern, swanky hotel in Tacoma should have a nice, modern, swanky restaurant to go with it right? Yet Bite misses the mark. The decor is off, a little too strange and a bit dated as well. The food was just ok, nothing special. We went for brunch, and although the menu looked stellar, nothing swept us off our feet. The coffee, in particular, was bland. I can't comment on dinner food, but the menu didn't impress for that much either. The grapefruit brûlée was probably the coolest thing they had - a crystalized layer of sugar on top of a halved grapefruit wound up being pretty delicious.

If staying at the hotel and need to eat something, this is okay, but not worth the price. We ordered 2 Kobe beef burgers, medium (pink center), and they came out well done. I asked the waitress if this looked pink and her reply was that they cook to temperature. I am sorry, but are you blind? Do you not see the black/burnt edges and the dry, dark center? My wife did not like her burger at all, and when I explained that, she asked if she should have that one redone as well. I explained that she did not like it, and cooking it medium instead of well done would not change anything. Most normal restaurants would have offered to get her something else. Bite did not. The burger they brought me the 2nd time was medium well (not pink), but I did not want to waste any more time there, so it was good enough to eat at that time. A few days prior, we had eaten breakfast there. My eggs benedict were very good, but my wife's egg white & spinach omelet was bland. So, it is hit or miss with the food. Not bad if it is raining and you don't want to leave and are really hungry, but if you have a better option, go for plan B.

I like this place! Put aside your hotel restaurant stereotypes and try it. I was hesitant but I ordered the southwest chicken salad (no chicken) and it's good! Big portions and a ton of avocado which is rare for a restaurant. Also I really appreciate that they take money off for taking off the chicken. That never happens!

Good service and great food. The Murano hotel provides coupons for 10 percent off. Our table has a beautiful view of Mt Rainier looking SE and a view of the boats and ships in the sound looking NW. Very nice location downtown Tacoma. Hey, Yelp just sent an alert to my phone saying we get a free appetizer for checking in at the Bite, so we just ordered the crab appetizer, thanks Yelp!

Meh... I wanted to love it, but I didn't. Maybe if I wasn't facing the weird paintings of the young women? Others have commented on the outdated decor, but it's just those paintings! They have to go! The Mac n cheese was delish, the prawns were yummy, the rosemary flatbread was perfectly salty. The drinks were just a bit above okay. I'd give it another try, but next time I'm going to avoid looking at the cartoon paintings of 18 year olds (weird!).

We hopped in for a bite of brunch after a night's stay. (Pun intended!) They have interesting modern card and cool glass cards on the walls. They filled us up on coffee and left us the pot, which was really nice for refills on demand. I got the crab frittata and A got the eggs benedict. The frittata was huge and covered in cheese. It was delish, but I could only eat about half. A gobbled up his benny. A large group came in for coffees right after us and we were kind of forgotten after that because they were quite demanding. But, the staff tried to stay friendly and calm. Plan on eating well, but don't plan on having a quiet meal as other hotel/conference patrons come in!

Found this on trip adviser and had great reviews, and am pleased to add another for BITE. We loved everything about it: the lighting, artwork, atmosphere, the waitstaff and of course the food. We were promptly seated next to a window that had a view of downtown Tacoma and they had a special Mother's Day menu consisting of a great variety of choices for all tastes. The waitstaff were a perfect combination of being there when we needed them and our glasses and cups never were dry, as well as leaving us alone during conversations and eating. Between the 5 of us, 3 had the eggs Benedict, one had the sirloin hash and I had the Rum Bananas French Toast. Servings all around were plentiful and all were cooked and tasted great. Will come again!

Bite knocked me on my ass. Fresh off a plane from Arizona, I dragged my grimy, recirculated air filled ass into their posh looking restaurant thinking I would be told to leave by a chorus of voices resembling muted trombones a la "the adults in "Peanuts". Not so. In fact, a pregnant woman dressed like she was heading to the 1998 Lilith Fair talked up the truffle mac and cheese in a classic "waddle-by-recommending". The server was a very knowledgable and engaging woman who basically knew what we were having before we spoke. She was on her game with the drink refills and other such attentiveness without being overbearing. As for the food, their Poutine made me proud to not be Canadian. Hands down the most lush and exquisite dish involving french fries I have ever consumed and it can feed a family of 37. And the kick in the pants is that I am pretty certain is is vegetarian because the gravy is mushroom based... but those that are veggie inclined should double check. The market salad is also huge and delicious. So much vibrant color in the bowl and a great vinaigrette. The truffle mac is glorious, but decadent as all get out. Real sliced black truffles (no oil) intermingle with the mac and cheese and a gratin top. Not recommended in conjunction with the poutine unless you have a small army with you or you WILL hate yourself afterwards. No room for dessert. Wasn't thrilled with the limited beers on tap but this is the land of Harmon (ick) although I have no memory if they actually carried Harmon beers... I just expect everyone in Tacoma does. Bonus... the owner came to our table and chatted us up for a good 5 minutes making sure we had a great experience and she was great to talk to and really wanted to ensure we were treated well, which we were. Can't give it 5 stars based on one visit, but I intend on going back. And one more thing... they validate the valet parking at the hotel.

Server was great at making conversation, helping wtih specialty orders, and service. The server did a great job on making sure we had what we needed, keeping glasses full, and giving us space while we chatted. The food was good. The menu descriptions could be a little better, but the food was good. The Poutine was a bit salty for my taste and overly drenched in gravy (for my taste, my mom liked it that salty). The salmon with Strawberries and Ruhbarb was good, but unexpected.

This is a review for happy hour. I am adding it to my top five happy hours in Tacoma. They do not take their menu items and make the portions smaller for happy hour. This place is a great deal on pretty good eats. I had the Spicy Prawns ($5) and Truffle Fries ($4). The Spicy Prawns is a large portion with six prawns, sausage, asparagus, cherry tomatoes, served over bread in a spicy tomato sauce. I would recommend asking for the bread on the side, as it gets soggy from the sauce really quickly. Actually, that is how they should make the dish, anyways. The Truffle Fries are a HUGE portion for a mere $4 at happy hour. There is a hint of truffle to the fries, which are served with shaved Parmesan cheese. The fries are crisp and tasty. I have posted pictures of both menu items. Park with the valet, bring your ticket to the Bite for validation, and parking is free! You cannot beat free valet parking in Tacoma, given that street parking everywhere else downtown costs $$. The service was fast and friendly.

Located inside the Hotel Murano. The restaurant staff were friendly and the happy hour menu was pretty good. The place was freezing cold though so we didn't linger for another drink. a woman nearby went back to her room for a large coat. Breakfast was below average and we would skip it for other nearby options in future. Such a nice hotel should do better.

I think Bite's overall rating is affected by the high expectations of the people who typically frequent the area - the Murano is fancy-schmancy, and is frequented by those who have money and probably have experienced some better meals in bigger cities. That's not to say Bite doesn't have some faults, because it does, but overall I found my meals at Bite to be among the better I had during my trip to Tacoma. My first experience was with the corn chowder. Deliciously smooth and creamy, though subsequent tastes of the same soup would reveal some inconsistency in the preparation and service. The burger was great, and maybe even excellent. A half pound of high-quality beef, seared on the grill to an admittedly uneven medium rare, but with a pristine leaf of butterleaf lettuce, four slices of roma tomatoes, thick slice of cheddar, and a bacon confit that blew my mind, the entire thing came together a little messily, but a lotta tastily. I like non-traditional salads (lettuce is kinda lame), so the vegetable salad of cauliflower, squash, tomatoes, walnuts, and ricotta salata was right up my alley. I'm not normally a fan of cold cauliflower, but the kitchen was nice enough to blanch the cruciferous vegetable to take some of the rawness out. Because I was so good with the salad, I decided to offset it with the fries and gravy, and though this fancy poutine was certainly not in my best caloric interest, the homemade red wine mushroom gravy and blue cheese atop Bite's consistently crisp fries made it all worth it. I also had a Rueben. Well made, though traditionally prepared in the face of other more esoteric dishes, it didn't leave an impression. For someone who normally despises going to the same restaurant more than once (especially on a trip), I found myself returning multiple times of my own volition. Sure, Pacific Grill may be an overall better restaurant within walking distance, and there's some other excellent restaurants north about a mile north, but Bite is much better than a hotel restaurant needs to be.

Hotel Murano has a lovely, contemporaneous, upscale feel (glass art, anyone?), and Bite was no exception. I graced my presence for breakfast and lunch on a few occasions. ___________________ My first meal was their spinach and mushroom egg white omelet, with wheat toast and bowl of fruit ($10). The chef used the equivalent of three eggs. Killer job on the spinach and crimini mushrooms. Proper seasoning, sauteed perfectly. The spinach retained such a bold, dark green color. Here, much to my delight, my wheat toast was lightly buttered. None of this "would you like some toast with your butter?" folly. The diced fruit was fresh and much appreciated after downing some heavy meals the day before. Mayra was my server and did a wonderful job. Lots of smiling and a warming presence all the way through service. ___________________ Patty was my server for lunch. I got the Pac Northwest Cobb Salad ($16). Bay shrimp, dungeness crab, bacon, buttermilk bleu cheese, eggs (hard-boiled), cherry tomatoes, and avocado. The dressing, which I requested on the side, was a honey mustard vinaigrette. Sure, it was a takeout order, but regardless, the multi-colored presentation almost made the salad too awesome to eat. And damn, that was real shredded dungeness crab. Justified the hefty price tag right there. Along with bacon, of course. Because we must have bacon. Patty had suggested this salad in lieu of the Old School Chicken Salad (which they were unfortunately out of at the time). A great selection. All the different tastes are represented, with varying textures. The sweet, slightly tangy honey mustard vinaigrette brings it all together. On this occasion, it took a rather excessive amount of time to get my order. Mayra was still working the lunch shift and offered to check on my order. A model employee to go out of her way to provide customer satisfaction. Patty was also a fairly good hostess, but geez, someone wanted Employee of the Month honors just a bit more! The prices are higher than what I'm generally used to paying, but the customer is paying for food quality and ambiance here. Heck, you can get a 12 oz. Starbucks coffee for $1.45 (plus tax) if you want to. This panda loves coffee! I blame bar studying.... ___________________ My last meal here was another breakfast: the Barcelona omelet ($11, adding $1 to sub egg whites). Ground chorizo, green olives, manchego cheese, peppers, and onions. The chorizo was the outright star, sending bold flavors into the dish. The downside? The liquid fat from the chorizo collecting underneath the omelet in an unappetizing manner. The olives, each split in half, added tang to the dish. The mild manchego had melted into this awesome gooey glue. Well-cooked and lightly seasoned skillet potatoes on the side here. Browned on the outside, soft on the inside. Combining it with veggies provided great color. In the left-hand corner, lay a very small helping of minced fruit on a green piece of paper. Interesting. Is that how they sneak fruit in a dish like this? You know, you don't have to do that with me. Fruit has feared my mighty jaw from time immemorial. On the side, I again received lightly buttered and properly toasted wheat bread. The breakfast buffet here is $12.95, filled with eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, fruit, and pastries. Beverages are included. Sounds like a pretty nice deal if you can eat a lot. Unfortunately, the fear of an impending food coma during exams prevented me from enjoying this one. Maybe next time. I had a pleasant experience at Bite Restaurant and the Hotel Murano. I concur with Jen K. that one should still consider other options in the area -- don't torture your wallet if you can help it! But for a hotel restaurant, I'd still recommend Bite, assuming the person has the billfold to stomach the final damage.

Pros: 1. Situated in the gorgeous "Hotel Murano." 2. Beautiful decor, trendy tables, chairs, & atmosphere. 3. Clever menu selection (pb&j bread pudding, marshmallow milkshakes) 4. Kudos to the kitchen: well plated, gorgeous presentation and very fine food! Cons: 1. The staff!! What poor service all around. Very disappointing. 2. Poorly lit. Not in a romantic, "this lighting makes me look good" way. In a drab, bleak, cutting corners way.

Aside from paying $8 to park, walking, and walking, and then walking up two flights of stairs in heels, there is something not right about this place. #1. It's Friday night, and there is hardly no one there, we should have walked away. #2. It's quiet, too quiet. The atmosphere was cold, and unfriendly. #3. Our greeter was NOT friendly, nor did she even smile, huge turn off, seriously, I think that was the start to us not wanting to be there. She did not smile, she did not have food or drink suggestions, she did not ask why we were there, or say much of anything, I think that a robot would have been nicer. #4. I love simple menus, but I was looking for "Bite" meals, some small things to get a feel for what the restaurant was about. Nothing on the menu stood out. #5. We decided on dessert, and a drink - The dessert menu was not up to date. Honestly you are trying to "impersonate" an upscale restaurant, you need to be on top of your game, and having the correct items on the menu, and having everything up to date is a must, another let down. When you see things that they are no longer making, those items are now on your mind, and you start to want them, maybe because you can't have them, but it's just very unprofessional. #6. The menu food items seemed to be decently priced, yet the wines were a bit off, for wines that usually cost me between $6-$8 at places all over the sound, they were asking $10+ for the same wines. Being a step above the rest should not just be your prices. #7. The dessert was a chocolate creme brulee with strawberries in it, I think that the strawberries would have been better on top, not in it, but the chocolate was a great idea, although it was good, it was nothing fantastic. There were good parts. The place was beautiful, and the art is interesting, and we really enjoyed it. Our server was very nice, and pleasant, and because of her she talked us into coming back and trying a bite night, I guess that they do have "bite" food after all, it's just on another menu, who would have thought that you would have had to ask for another menu to know that. I truly want to love this place, so I will update when we try it again.

I celebrated my birthday at Bite since I was going home to see my family. We had eight people, and Bite was very accomodating, even for a Saturday night. The drinks were by far the best, fancy drinks I've had in Tacoma, and they definitely rival great places in Seattle for very detailed, trendy cocktails. Half of my party enjoyed a beautiful view of downtown Tacoma, while the rest of us enjoyed the view of the hip bar. The food was very good - of the hits, Spicy Prawns, Fries and Gravy Poutine, and the Green Market Salad. The Seared Scallops, Truffle Mac and Cheese, and Heirloom Tomato Carpaccio were also good. I would highly recommend checking out this place. Don't be discouraged by the fact this restaurant is in a hotel. If anything, it makes it even more worth going to if you love art and beautiful views while enjoying a delicious cocktail.

My gf wanted to try their happy hour and I expected a blah experience like usual with hotel dining establishments. It was worse. The drinks were pre-mix from the bar. There was only one server for both levels, and this is during happy hour. The bartender assisted her as did the busser, but she spoke little (or no?) english. The buffalo wings were naked. The oysters small and cold. The fries were good, but so are McDonalds, really. The calamari advertised non-existent. It gets two stars because the rolls were free. My tip: get a room here, do happy hour at the Tap Room

Food was very disappointing and the service was horrible. Went to eat at Bite on Saturday for lunch. We were staying at the hotel for NAM. We had a break for lunch, arrived at Bite at 11:45am. the restaurant was about 1/4 full That was when I should went elsewhere for lunch, the hostess was rude. She didn't greet us or even talk with us, I told her that it was a party of 7 and 3 of us are kids. The Hostess walked off and didn't let us know what was going on. A few minutes later she returned and took a different group to their table. A different lady came up to us and took us back to our table. The hostess filled our glass with water, my wife's glass was dirty. After about 15 minutes later our server arrived. She seemed nice but extremely inexperienced. She did not know much about the menu items. We mentioned the dirty glass and asked for another glass of water, which never came out. We ordered our food, they were out of a lot of items on their small lunch menu. Took over 1 hour for our food to arrive. Drinks never got refilled, flagged down the hostess and asked for water refills and she throw down a book she had in her hand and looked extremely upset to fill our glasses with water. Food was bad. I ordered the fish and chips, they were out. So ordered grilled chicken. It was awful; the sauce that coated the chicken was cold and broken (looked like brown vomit) the chicken breast was not seasoned or extremely under seasoned. The chicken breast was dried out and tough, grossly over cooked. The chicken was plated on top of some over cooked noodles. We also had some chicken wings, way over cooked and dried out. The bill was $160, they automatically put in the tip. I am glad that I wasn't there when the bill arrived, I would have refused to pay the auto gratuity and would have had the manger come over there to remove half of the inedible food off the check. I had to leave a take my kid to the NAM events. I definitely recommend not eating here, EVER!

Didn't even know this place existed until the other day... A friend from out of town stayed at the hotel (gorgeous she said) and told me we had to try this place. Views were great, atmosphere was good, almost like we were having dinner in an art gallery. Good food, service etc. Give this place a shot!

We went for lunch at 11:30, needless to say we left at 1:00! The first thing the waitress asked was if this was our lunch break, we said yes and she said that she would take the order and get us out of there in time to get back. Right! The food came out so sporadically 2 of us thought the rest would be done before we got our food. Most of the food was ok, nothing exciting. One of my co-workers salmon blt though was inedible and the manager said that it could of been because it was the piece near the tail and sometimes that can be more fishy tasting....what??? LOL, I've never heard that before in my life and I used to go salmon fishing up in Alaska. They did take her meal of the bill, but the manager did not seem very apologetic. The hamburger had ZERO sauce on it, it was so dry I had also asked for no bun, but yep there was a bun. The fries were so so but not that hot. Those that had the soup/sandwich special said that the cream of mushroom soup was delicious as well as the crab&corn chowder, the sandwich was ok, nothing special. One of us had the market salad and she said it was really good. Maybe this place is good for soup and salads but there are better spots in Tacoma so we won't be returning to Bite, it's just too inconsistent.

A place that makes Tacoma seem really chic! This was my first time at Hotel Murano and it did exceed my expectations...I knew al about the glass art and its modern flaire although seeing the lobby was more than impressive! The restaurant itself is up the stairs on the 4th floor and was smaller than expected although does respect the same theme of the whole hotel and is a smooth transition from the hotel to restaurant. It was the second to last day of Restaurant Week and we wanted to check this place out. We went on a Monday so there were not many folks there, just a few tables here and there filled so we got seated promptly. They gave us a disclaimer that their menu that day was a shortened one page menu due to a high volume of hotel guests and they usually have a more extensive menu...we were there for the $25 3 course Restaurant Week menu anyways so it did't affect our choices at all. For a cocktail, I had a cocktail consisting of champagne, OJ, and midori (could have done without the midori but otherwise was satisfactory), the bread they brought out was actually quite good and ate the flatbread with rosemary. For appetizer we got a corn chowder, super hot at first but especially in this cold weather, was definitely appropriate and hearty enough. For my entree, I got the stuffed bake chicken and for dessert, their original deserts were not available although they had a pumpkin cheesecake and obviously it's fall and anything pumpkin would taste delicious and hence it was! Based on the prices, this place is somewhat pricey but not extravagant and is in a nice hotel sooo you do pay for the food and ambience. Definitey a place for hotel guests although locals should check it out...definitely a nice place for a date or group gathering.

I love this place. We always get an excellent meal. We eat at Bite at least twice a month. The portions are perfect, the food is consistently delicious, made with the best ingredients and carefully prepared. The drinks are generous and creative. The Bite waitress, Karen is a genuine sweetheart! The bartender, Deborah is an absolute fine jewel.

Go elsewhere. Want breakfast at 11:10 a.m.? Tough, they've switched to a lunch menu. But wait! Some of their sandwiches have bacon on them, and one of their sandwiches even has an egg cooked and placed on top, so surely they can do a simple bacon and egg breakfast, right? No. Go elsewhere, they've stopped serving breakfast and absolutely refuse to make any attempt at pleasing customers. Truck stop wait staff with truck stop wait staff attitudes detract from the upscale atmosphere they're trying desperately to imitate. Very, very lame.

Nice to look at but what happened to good food and service?? The atmosphere is very art modern. The food was blan however and to sum up the service it took around 15 min just to get our water glasses filled. Now your asking well how busy was the place? Honestly not busy maybe 1/8 full and had plenty of staff. What was wanted was a nice family breakfast and what happened was slow service small servings for the price and sub par taste.

Two part review: Breakfast: The Eggs Benedict was alright but the Hollandaise sauce was a little bit too sour for my taste. It didn't taste that great. Dinner: Dinner was actually amazing. I had the scallop alfredo and it was cooked just right. The scallops were well seared on the outside with a light crispiness to it while the inside was tender and juicy! My friend had the pork chop which was succulent and moist, while the Kobe Burger looked and seemed amazing! All in all, great service, a little bit pricey but definitely chic!

Love the fries! I enjoyed a huge salad as well, which was equally delicious... but really. GET THE FRIES. I enjoyed the service as well, the bartenders were very helpful and made sure to chat me up; which I like when I'm sitting solo. Get the fries. That's all.

This is a hidden gem inside of the Hotel Murano. The food is really good. The poutine fries and the fried green tomatoes are YUMMY!!!! Also, valet parking is validated and you can generally get in w/o a wait (even on Friday nights).

The good: very clean and spacious, breakfast sandwich on the ciabatta was decent The bad: crab and asparagus frittata was more like a cheese omelette, service was very below average, restaurant was empty except for 1 table which they tried to sit me right next to

After wandering around this museum of a hotel looking at the glass art and lamp-works, if you're feeling a bit peckish, consider dining at this altogether decent restaurant. The staff are warm and professional - even remembering our drink orders from the night before. (Much more inviting than a museum docent would be.) Favorite dinner was the chicken olivito (sp?). It takes extra time to cook, but the olivey, garlicky flavor with the perfectly cooked chicken is well worth the wait. I also love the rosemary flat-bread on our table. Breakfasts were terrific. They make eggs exactly as you order them, and the bacon was cooked to orgasmic. All in all, Bite is classy-casual and definitely steps up the bar for both hotel and museum dining.

The hubs and I stayed at Hotel Murano for a night. The hotel gave us these food vouchers for us to eat at Bite. We went in for a late night snack. We ordered: 1. Fries and Gravy: garlic herb fries with mushroom zinfandel gravy, Gorgonzola cheese. It was okay, the fries were crispy, but the gravy was a tad bitter and i think was suitable more for a steak, not on fries. I thought the gravy was going to be thicker. 2. Marshmallow Shake - It was okay. The shake tasted more like vanilla. There was some graham crackers on the bottom that gave the shake a nice texure. Our waitress was nice, but I think she smoked a little somethin' somethin' --- she called us gentlemen -- really? I don't look like a dude (I swear!!) The next morning, we used another set of food vouchers for breakfast. We ordered: 1. Breakfast Board: 2 old fashion donuts, hard cooked egg, bacon, yogurt, smoked salmon, pesto baguette --- This was kinda dumb to order for breakfast. The hubs ordered this. The donuts were straight from the hostess box. The bacon was cold -- Boo! The baguette would have been awesome if they toasted it! Good idea, just poorly executed. 2. Eggs Benedict Royal: two poached eggs, toasted english muffin, shaved ham, plugra hollandaise, skillet browned potatoes --- KNOCKED MY SOCKS OFF! THEEE BEST Eggs Benedict I've had in a long time. The dish was pipping hot. And the hollandaise sauce was soooo tasty! I kept dipping it into my potatoes! OHH! I would totally come back to Tacoma just to eat at BITE for breakfast!

I ate at Bite for breakfast on two consecutive days recently. Both meals were very tasty, and given its setting in a fashionable hotel, I thought the meals were reasonably priced. The first morning I had Northwest Benedict, which I'd rate 5 stars: northwest benedict two poached eggs, toasted english muffin, cured salmon, plugra hollandaise with skillet browned potatoes, I'd rate 5 stars. The second morning I had the Barcelona Omelet, which I'd rate 4 stars: chorizo, olives, peppers, salsa and manchego cheese. The second morning, it took a long time for the waitress to bring the check, which is why I'm giving an overall rating of 4 stars.

Yes, definitely do go! I wish this restaurant had been in business when I lived in T-town. Everything I had here on my 4-night stay at the Murano was fantastic. The menu is creative, food excellently prepared ... OMG the halibut & chips! ... and the atmosphere is modern and hip.

Had dinner here late March. Everything was perfect. Waiter was very professional, and the room had a good atmosphere. I ordered salmon, with a fried green tomatoes appetizer. The presentation of both the meal and the appetizer was excellent, and everything was very flavorful. I will be back! (Good prices too)

Unfortunately completely disappointed, I work in a restaurant and I completely understand what slow nights at like however there wasn't anything that went right with our experience. Both fish were overcooked "salmon explicitly ordered medium", ribeye was prepared correctly and tasted great, Greek salad was good, fried green tomatoes were dismal and only one dessert was edible. Timings were terrible "which is to be expected on a slow night but beyond understandable levels"which made the experience nearly unbearable. I'm usually not such a harsh critic mainly because I've worked in this industry for so long buy I haven't been this disappointed in a restaurant in a long time.

My burger was very good. The bacon relish was delish! Service was a bit slow, but a bunch of people at the conference I was at all went to the restaurant at the same time, so they kind of had an excuse for the slowness.

Bite is stylish little restaurant/bar tucked into Tacoma's Hotel Murano, well-deserving of my 3 1/2 Yelp stars. My friend and arrived late on a Friday evening, and our gracious bartender was more than happy to accommodate my pal by plugging in her phone charger beneath the counter. Her colleague was rather abrasive, and started bellowing at us as we were leaving because she thought we hadn't paid...even though we most certainly had, and Ms. High Lung Capacity hadn't been waiting on us in the first place. Nice Bartender waved us away saying, "You're fine, you're fine..." Good diversity on the reasonably-priced bar menu, which was still being served at 10 pm. We ordered the Fries & Gravy, and I realized I love Tacoma because if the equivalent dish (consisting of French Fries topped with mushroom-Zinfandel gravy and blue cheese bits) were on a menu anywhere in Seattle, it would be called "poutine" (Canadian-speak for French fries topped with brown gravy and cheese curds). This labeling would be in spite of the fact that the dish is not a true poutine, nor does 75% of the USA know what poutine is. So thank you to Bite and Tacoma, for keeping it real. Fries & Gravy proved to be yummy comfort food...the spare ribs we also ordered were fattier than expected and had an almost gamey taste. The accompanying pile of arugula seemed misplaced. I was jealous of our bar neighbor's Lobster Corn Dogs, which looked like fried heaven on a stick.

I have been to this bar many times and the happy hour here is a well kept Tacoma secret. I have tried every single item on the menu and each is delicious and wonderful in it's own way. The Kobe Beef slider, the fried green tomatoes, the calamari, are all SOOOO GOOOOD! And at 5 bucks a pop, you can't beat it!! The drinks are always, always tasteful and we sit at the bar when Karen is working because she has outstanding customer service. Not to mention, the surroundings are trendy, romantic, and super fun. The combination of outstanding service, great food (at great happy hour prices!) and cool decor can't be beat. I love, love, love this place. You can also get the bartender to validate your parking for free valet!!! :) Have I said how much I love this place?!

I stopped by here a week and a half ago and have been trying to figure out how to write this review. Bite is in the Hotel Murano which is a very artsy hotel. It's something I would expect to see in San Francisco or certain parts of Manhattan but no, it is in downtown Tacoma. When we walked in pretty much no one was there on a Monday night. As in they probably had less than 5% of their tables filled. But the people seemed nice and we had heard the brunch was good here so we decided to try dinner. I started off with the limoncello cured salmon that comes with flatbread, chive creme fraiche, and red onion gremolata. I actually thought this was pretty good. I should mention that I was starving though after four hours of traveling back from Victoria. I felt that the flatbread was a bit hard (it is also served with their bread course) but the salmon was cured perfectly and the fraiche was a perfect combination. From there I had the crab ravioli - dungeness crab, ricotta cheese, and Pernod cream. To be honest it was pretty bland. Parts of it felt like I was tasting water if that made any sense. And the plate wasn't that big. My buddy liked his vegetarian order (I can't remember what he got) quite a bit but my other friend thought her chowder and salad were pretty unappetizing and didn't finish either. The saddest thing was that this place charges some premium prices. We walked out of here paying as much as I did at restaurants in Victoria where I had some of my favorite meals in a while. Clearly this place is meant to feed on the tourists who end up here as the food is generally subpar and the cocktail menu is rather uninspired. If I am in Tacoma I'll stick with the Pacific Grill or Red Hot.

The food is pretty good. The service is freindly but what I really like is the original glass on the walls. Its like eating lunch in a glass museum. The bar tender asked which game we wanted to watch on the tv.
