This place is a Spokane gem, and an east Sprague highlight. Probably the only place in town to get a Vietnamese sandwich. ($2.75, try 'em all dude). The vermicelli bowl is also great and good ($7.99, get the pork/shrimp/egg roll, idiot). The pho and spring rolls aren't exactly my favorite here, but the kids just go apeshit over them. There's also lots of other stuff if you're a dork. It can get really busy in here during lunch, and I've only ever seen two people working, so the service can be a little slow. If your co-workers are squares, tell them to just stick with Subway, otherwise they're probably just gonna complain the whole time because their palates are boring and so are they, and you're tired of hearing about their weird kids/cats, and they're camping on real valuable real estate during the lunch rush. Not cool. Relax. Spokane deserves this place, and this place deserves Spokane.

Strawberry bubble tea! Slushy, fresh-soft tapioca. Yum! Pho was good, though broth mildly flavored (according to mom). Bun combo was ok. Prefer viet BBQ beef and a more viscous sweet chili fish sauce. :)

Honestly, if you want pho, there are better places in town, but this is the only place (or one of few places) that has Banh Mi in Spokane, and that is why I go there. Their Spring Rolls is the cheapest out of the places that I know around here. When I have a potluck party but don't want to cook, I always call them to place an order some Spring Rolls as to-go. My friends love them all the time. Pho was kinda disappointing though. The taste of the broth was bland and the meat didn't seem fresh. Still their Banh Mi is worth to try once. The prices of their foods are incredibly inexpensive. It's not that I love this place but I will probably keep going there.

Food was delicious and at a reasonable price. Def will be back when I am back in Spokane.

I was looking for a Pho place and looked to Yelp. I saw good reviews for Vien Dong, so my daughter and I decided to try it for lunch. When we got there, there was literally ONE table free to sit at. As I looked around at what others were eating, I wasn't so sure I wanted Pho. It all looked amazing! The place was very clean, albeit an old building, so not fancy. I'm telling you, the food is OUTSTANDING! Inexpensive... It was like $20 for My daughter's large bowl of beef Pho, my Mongolian beef, a side of spring rolls, and a Pepsi. I sipped the broth from the Pho my daughter ordered and regretted not getting that, it was SOOOOO flavorful! Then when my Mongolian beef arrived, I didn't regret so much. It is absolutely, hands down, the best I have ever had. Big plate full and just so good! I ate half and brought the rest home to hubby as I was stuffed. We also saw that the Bahn Mi sandwiches were like $2.50!!!!! A guy next to us ordered, and ate 2 of them. They looked delicious! Everyone on staff was great as well. I can't say enough nice things about this place! There's a reason it was so busy! Yum yum yum!!!!!!

Ordered about 5 dishes here to go. First off, the location is kind of sketch... I personally would not go here alone. Second, the inside of the restaurant isn't really appealing as you can see this dark and sort of creepy back room behind the counter next to the kitchen.. not sure what the room is for. There were flies flying around inside, which made me a bit nervous. Aside from that, the food was decent. The pho is pretty good, but not as good as Pho Van. The broth is a bit lacking in flavor, but the amount was plentiful. The fried rice was okay, some unusual ingredients like bean sprouts (maybe they were trying to be more Viet). Rice plate - meh according to my dad... don't think he cared too much for it. The vermicelli bowl was pretty good, there was a good amount and lots of veggies. Honestly, I rather just go up to Pho Van, as the decor is much better and the food is better.

I was so glad for my fellow yelpers review of this place! Stuck in Spokane for a few hours I cruised yelp to find a Vietnamese place and found this one had the best reviews. The taro bubble tea was delicious!! So good and satisfied my perpetual obsession with bubble tea. However food wise I sadly ordered the wrong thing-the chicken and rice dish. The chicken was mostly dark meat and was tough...not good consistency nor flavor. if I was in town again would probably come back as their banh mi sandwiches looked really good. Agree that service is really friendly and fast and definitely don't be put off on the outdoor ambience of this family run joint...it's simple but cozy inside!

They've been remodeling the kitchen so quality is getting even better but with the same prices. She could probably bump them up a little. They always take care of me even though it's so busy I often feel bad. Sometimes it's just packed and sometimes nobody is in there. I usually call ahead and pick it up. You can't beat 20 bucks for 2 lg pho and a smoothie. There's something on the menu at every price range, you know, before payday and after.

  • Steven T.

I'm kicking them up a star. This is a hole in the wall joint. The condiments on the table are dirty/sticky, they need a good wipe down. Don't sit by the windows unless you can handle the dead bugs (and the live ones buzzing around). Service can be hit or miss, if you show up after 7:20PM they will try to hurry you along. Also be prepared to have several of the menu items not available. Out of 5 visits they have only had Bahn Mi twice and once they were out of Pho (wtf????) Overall though their food is better than most Vietnamese places in town and definitely better than the Vietnamese places farther east on Sprague. I would rank this as the #2 place for FOOD in Spokane (#3 in Spokane/CDA area). Just remember that this is a hole in the wall place that needs a good cleaning.

I can see why many people go here....it's cheap and you get large portions. Having lived in Portland, San Francisco, many visits to LA, and with my home town of Fresno (yes a very sad city, but a HUGE Southeast Asian population with TONS of Viet, Lao, Hmong, and Cambodian restaurants), this was the saddest Vietnamese food I've had. I've recently moved to Spokane, so maybe for Spokane this place is okay...but having come from where I do....this is not at all like the many delicious and cheap places I've eaten at in the past. Hubby had Pho Tai and I had Bun Tofu. We also had fresh spring roll. Both of us did not finish the rolls, pho, or bun. The service was very nice though and there were definitely many people when we came in. I'm curious to try more Spokane Asian food to see what it's like...but also feeling tentative at this point.

  • Colleen M.

The food was good. The spring rolls were great and the peanut sauce was delicious. Everything was fresh and the flavors were wonderful. Fish sauce seemed a little milder than I would like but still flavorful. Portions were large and price was low.

You will be terrified before you enter. There are hookers outside. You can eat noodles and watch them walk by. If I were a different person I might buy heroin outside. Inside I find peace, a calm in the storm, a smiling but no nonsense owner. I think everything but the bun bo hue is good, but honestly why the hell would I bother with anything else. It is mildly spicy, filled with strange and tasty meats, served with fresh jalapeno and bean sprouts and basil. The red stuff in the jar is garlic chili sauce. Use this jar as it is the way to nirvana. You will sit near a homeless man, a city councilman, and a millionaire. I take people to lunch here to see if they are worthy of trust.

  • Purple C.

Pho tastes good. Price is good too. Chow mein is pretty big! The place is a bit warm. A fly keeps circling around our table.

    (4)
  • Tom S.

Chicken banhi mi was good. Bread was warm and crisp. Veggies were fresh. The spring rolls are okay here.

    (4)
  • Mark H.

Nothing fancy interior wise but always great food. Where else can you get a large order of shrimp pho and two tofu spring rolls for $10.50? Plus the service is always pleasant.

    (4)
  • H S.

All I can say is if this place was cleaner it would easily get a better rating, because the food is good, the service is decent, and the prices are great. Please clean this place up, and let me know.

Even though the area gets a little sketchy as it turns to night in this location. The pho is amazing. I have yet to try the other pho places in Spokane but I here they make the best in town. This coming from our neighbors Japanese exchange student. Very friendly staff. Delish food.

    (4)
  • Mark G.

Great place if you like amazing food. It's defiantly not the flashiest place in town but the food makes up for it all the way. I tried most of their dishes and loved all of them. Go and try this place if you aren't worried going some where fancy looking. But maybe not the best place to go on your first date.

  • Lara E.

Sprague Ave is a sketchy stretch and I was just recently informed that is the happenin' spot for hookin. My husband was a little weirded out about the neighborhood but it was a perfect (rainy) day for pho and we were right in the area. There was one other person in the restaurant. We don't like crowds very much. I ordered the spring rolls and #22 (rare beef pho), and my hubby ordered shredded pork rolls and the chow mein. The peanut sauce that comes with the spring rolls is delicious. I love peanut sauce! I've never had shrimp and pork in spring rolls. There seemed to be more shrimp than pork, and I prefer it that way anyway. The pho was very flavorful. I added mostly everything (lime, basil, sprouts) and a tid bit of chili sauce. It was the perfect amount of flavor and heat. My husband's plate had a giant amount of chow mein on it. I've never seen such a mountain of food, even at the family-style restaurants. It was a ton of food, we definitely had a lot of leftovers the next day. The owners/servers were very nice. I will for sure be back!

    (4)
  • Thomas P.

The pho was a little sweeter than I am used to but it was still pretty good. The bean sprouts that came with the meal were old. I didn't care much for the spring rolls. It had a ton of iceberg lettuce which didn't appeal to me but I guess that is what you get at those ridiculously low prices. The banh mi sandwiches are also really cheap and worth the price though some of the ingredients didn't seem as fresh as they should be. Service was almost non-existent since it was just one girl running the entire front of house which was packed.

  • Jay K.

One of the cheaper Viet gigs in town. I'd offer that they should increase their prices to be on par with those at other Viet restaurants in town and offer better cuts of meat, perhaps not overcooking it so often to dryness, improving the variety of vegetable condiments, adding variety to their cha gio filling and being more careful of over-hydrating their bun (vermicelli). Surprisingly, their shrimp is decent in comparison to some of the offerings at other local Viet restaurants in town. Service is typically limited to one girl manning the phone, register, taking orders, running entrees and packing up takeout. Wait times can be long both for dining in or out. The restaurant located in a "tired" area of town and could itself use a rehab of the interior (and exterior).

    (2)
  • Dave G.

The quality of the meat in the bahn mi has gone downhill recently. Sliced too thick and way too fatty. A pity, since it had been pretty good by Spokane standards.

    (2)
  • Eric W.

This is my favorite place for lunch. The beef Pho (#22) is great, and the spring rolls are fresh, tasty and CHEAP. And the teriyaki sauce is made with a lot of honey, so it is sweet and delicious.

  • Sooki C.

I've been here twice. The first time, the pho was excellent. The broth was clear and so good. Practically downed the entire bowl. Craving pho again, I went back for the second time and this time it was a miss. The food seems to be inconsistent. My noodles were drowned in oil. Not good. I was able to eat the noodles and meat, but the bowl was left full of the oily broth when I was done. I doubt I will be back for a third bowl, in fear that I will get another bowl of oily pho. The staff was friendly and the service was ok. A bit slow, but ok. The servers don't come back often to check to see if you need water or anything else.

  • Brian H.

Very good and VERY reasonable prices...A great filling lunch for only $3!!!!! Can not wait to try the traditional Pho-Pho it looks great!!! The location is in a sketchy area and the place is run down.. I have actually driven past this place hundreds of times and would have NEVER thought of stopping till I read a review in a local paper... Will be going back!!!

I've been spoiled when it comes to authentic Asian food for cheap. I realized long ago, that in Spokane you get one or the other, never both. Yes, their food isn't as cheap as back home, but it's close enough. This is the best Vietnamese restaurant I've been to in Spokane thus far. I had pho with rare and brisket, I split a combo and pate bahn mi, and had an avocado smoothie with boba. The friend had a pretty tasty soup I'm having when we go back. It had fried wontons in it and the broth was different from pho broth. Service might be slow, it seemed like it was just the one girl working behind the counter, the kitchen, and waiting on people. Ambiance isn't the best, neither is the outside, but it's pretty darn good! Park on the street.

  • Paula R.

My peeps and I stopped in here on our way through Spokane hoping for a quick delicious bite. We got the "delicious" part, but the "quick" part was nary to be seen!! Our spring rolls took for-ev-ur to come out, and then our pho took an unreasonable amount of time to make it to our table as well. The restaurant was barely busy and it was really unclear what was taking so long. Then we made the mistake of trying to order some vietnamese coffees to-go! All-in-all, our lunch was well over an hour long, when pho lunches are usually pretty lickity split.

  • T P.

This is a great place to get your Vietnamese/Chinese food fix. Relatively inexpensive, quality-ish ingredients and generous portion sizes. It's a little oily at times and the interior is dirty, but not really an issue if you get take away. Their noodles are soft and delicious!

After depleting my large pho bowl of noodles, beef, and accompanying bean sprouts and basil, my daughter noted a CRICKET floating in my broth. When I showed it to the server, she was dismissive, "Oh, sorry 'bout that", turning away and walking off. Wow. All I wanted was for her to "make it right", you know, what American restaurants do when you find a hair or insect in your meal, taking some responsibility and making amends. She told me that she wished she would have found out about it right away, so she could had made me another meal. I told her that I ALSO wished that I had found out about it right away, before consuming most of the meal. I just don't think she got it at all. All she would do was give me 15% off of only my meal and argue with me about it. There was a CRICKET in my FOOD, for goodness' sake. While the meal was delicious....no, wait......maybe it was just from the crickets in my soup.... SCORE: * For the cricket-infested pho: 4 stars (legs, antennae and all) * For the lack of good ol' American responsiveness and service: I give zero stars. * Overall: one star Methinks there are other, finer pho establishments to choose from in the great City of Spokane. Wonder what kind of insects they serve.

Atrocious! The hostess told me to sit at a table with dirty rags and spare utensil holders, then served me their "shredded pork" banh mi that didn't include any meat at all. It was just bagged salad with cilantro on a baguette. When I pointed this out thinking maybe they thought I'd ordered a vegetarian version, the waitress insisted that it matched the description on the menu and is gotten just what I ordered. When I told her it wasn't what I was expecting, she angrily asked me, "Well, what did you expect?!" Gee, lady, I don't know - some truth in advertising? I get how more people will come in if the food is inexpensive, but be up front about why it's cheap. Horrible. The exterior and interior of the restaurant are a disgrace, the staff was rude, and the menu is misleading.

Dirty, RUDE lady at the cashier stand, lol different treat tours light skinned ppl lmao sad, no smiles, old dated looking, wholes everywhere, and the lady never washed her hands after dealing with money wtf, EVER COMING HERE AGAIN JUST BAD....

  • Shal W.

Pretty good special order Beef and Broccoli Chow Fun made with wide, fresh rice noodles! That was not on the menu but our young lady wait person didn't hesitate to accommodate us. The pho was interesting as it was all rare beef that was ordered but after eating through the top pieces of beef, I found only white meat in the bowl with my noodles. However, it was still tender and the broth mild, enhanced generously with sprouts, fresh basil, and a squeeze of lime. Our orders were promptly taken but they're not the speediest in getting your order filled. The restaurant's tables, floor, and women's room were amazingly clean! Diners filled the facility when we arrived and a number of take out orders were picked up while we ate. There are also some pieces of wall art for sale displayed in their main dining room. Thank you, fellow Yelpers Lara E. and Shivyon S., for drawing positive attention to Vien Dong. I think we may have found an Asian restaurant for comfort food in Spokane and look forward to return visits.

What an amazing little hole in the wall Vietnamese joint! This is absolutely the best Vietnamese food I have ever tasted! I tried the V 1 combo which was crispy chickpeas, broccoli, carrot, asparagus and even a couple slices of Granny Smith apples. On the meat side of the house kit included grilled chicken, shrimp, barbecued beef with a hint of spicy all served on a bed of yakisoba noodles! This is not your typical greasy fast food Chinese place, it is actually very good Vietnamese food that deserves a four star rating! I highly recommend this place and by the way don't be scared off by the way it looks on the outside. The staff is very friendly and your order is cooked ready to eat!

  • Benjamin G.

It's all delicious and oh so cheap!! Try the Curry Beef, or the Special Fried Rice! The walls are pink and the furniture cheap but if your looking for an epic meal on a budget come here! Closed on Mondays so beeeeewaaaaare 5 star fo you!

Came here because I'm an Asian food lover, the previous reviews and a solid 4 yelp stars score. Walked in and not really busy but the place was half full. Got our menus, was ready to order in 5 minutes and proceeded to wait another 10 before our order was taken. We the asked for water and that was brought promptly. When one in our party went to take a sip of her h2o, lipstick on the rim; not in her shade! Another 5 min before we got another water. Not a good start. But now the food. Really good. We started with an order of Springrolls and tofu Springrolls. Tight, fresh and good flavor with the peanut sauce. For mains, we got the Kung Pao Prawns and Tofu Veggies with crispy noodles. Really good and served HOT! Great food, iffy service. 3 stars.

  • Jolene B.

Food is 5 stars! People and service 5! Restaurant 3. We had the Raw Beef Pho and iced coffee = YUMMY! Best Pho we've had in a long time. Nice, complex broth with a perfect ratio of meat, noodles, and toppings. Just not a nice space. But not without and d school authenticity.

  • San D.

Place definitely needs come cleaning though made me question myself a few times if I should be eating here or not . The pho was pretty good here though .

    (3)
  • Aaron R.

This place would have five stars for food alone. The reason for the point deduction is the fact there's only one able minded waitress! You cone during peak hours? Be prepared to wait for simple items like napkins and silverware. Great food, poor management. We ordered a large pho soup with steamed wonton and rice noodle. Amazingly delicate but tasty soup broth. Noodles were not overcooked and the sliced pork was a great addition. The fresh spring rolls are nice and crunchy with lettuce and the usual fixin's. Plenty of dipping sauce and hot sauce at each table. The awesome benefit of dining in is sit by the window and catch a glimpse of Spokane's world famous ladies of the night wandering aimlessly and bumming smokes from innocent passers-by. The setting is shady, but the food tastes fresh and its cheap eats!

  • Hung N.

The girl left to takes order and be the cashier is not very friendly. I would not go here again especially after I was overcharged for sandwiches (which by the way we're some of the worst Vietnamese sandwiches I've had). The place is dingy and their pho is just okay. I no longer recommend this place.

  • Cheyne J.

Family moved here from Seattle and we're craving a good Banh Mi so figured we would give Vien Dong a try. We ordered ahead, so the food was ready when we got there, but it was cold, the meat was undercooked and the sandwich was pretty empty and dry. Huge letdown.

  • Shane D.

First, I want to comment how low the prices are here. I honestly am not sure how they can make money. Great value. Next, everyone here is so friendly. I feel like I am being welcomed into extended family. The matriarch who seems to be in charge is always full of smiles and happy greetings. Food. Just awesome. I have tried several different things here, cannot really pick a favorite. I really dig their spring rolls, and get them with whatever I get. Also like their Vietnamese sandwiches. Especially for the price! And the bread reminds me of the awesome hoagie bread I used to enjoy back in Philadelphia. The atmosphere here is also very homey. It is tastefully decorated but you still feel relaxed and comfortable here. Overall, this is just an awesome place. If you like Vietnamese or Chinese even a little bit you have got to come here.

I love love LOVE this place, the food is to die for! They are hands down the best Vietnamese restaurant In town.

Delicious food, large portions and low price! We ordered the special chow mein and it could have fed all three of us. Amazingly delicious

  • Sarai S.

Straight to the point review- food is amazing and large portions. Amazing pho, I ate my whole bowl. My boyfriend and I also got a pulled pork banh mi and we weren't too impressed with those. The place is a bit run down and there wAs only one person really running the restaurant by herself and got pretty busy. Still the food is so good, definitely worth it even though at times she seemed to have forgotten what we ordered.

The best pho in town. Cheaper than anywhere else. Quality spring rolls. It just doesn't get any better. Will never go anywhere else for pho.

  • Kent H.

The food here is worthy of being called the Best Vietnamese Food Restaurant in Spokane. It is comparable to authentic Vietnamese food in So California.

    (5)
  • Jennifer D.

Best banh mi in Spokane! I always get the grilled pork banh mi and the spring roll and it's only 6 bucks.

    (5)
  • Elle E.

Out of the four Vietnamese restaurants I've tried in Spokane, this one is the best. I love the won ton soup (with egg noodles and fried won tons), Mongolian Beef, and the sandwiches. One down side to this restaurant is that it seems to completely lack an HVAC system. It's not too unbearably hot in the summer, but bundle up when visiting on a cold day. Street parking is usually very easy to find.

Very very good! Don't have a favorite dish, I love them all!!!!!

    (5)
  • Josh D.

Awesome, super-affordable, fresh Viet Namese food! Not the fanciest place in town, but that's part of its charm. I am officially addicted to their Pho and have to have it at least every few wks or I get cranky.

  • Jason R.

Pho and banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich)... how can you go wrong. This place serves em deep and cheap. Not a bad way to spend a meal. Priced and tastes right.

  • Nells G.

This is my new favorite! Absolutely delicious and extremely fresh. Banh Mi is ok, not very much meat but for 2.75 you cant complain, the bread is great! The special noodle dish is to die for!

Low prices, fabulous and huge portions, and family run atmosphere! Ladies, just make sure you have someone walk you to your car as this is in one of the rougher areas of Spokane.

Good service and the Pho was good, let's say it's comparable to ones in seattle china town

  • Laurie L.

I don't think I would rate this restaurant as high in Portland or Seattle, but for Spokane, it scores. It is not much for atmosphere, but the food is fresh , tasty, and well priced. The restaurant staff is nice, but sometimes it gets very busy, and difficult to handle the volume with the small staffing.

  • Stacey N.

I went here looking for some vietnamese sandwiches but I just couldnt say no to the wonton noodles (they're my favorite!). It was pretty good, not as good as home, but still good.

  • Javier L.

I've only been to Vien Dong once (I'm visiting from California), but my single experience was good. We stopped by for an afternoon snack, so I can't vouch for the meals. What we had was good though. Cafe sua da / Vietnamese iced coffee - I have been craving this since I flew in from the bay area, and the coffee here hit the spot. Yummy. $2.50. Goi cuon / spring rolls - 2 large rolls, filled with shrimp, pork, noodles, bean sprouts, and mint. I didn't recognize the dipping sauce (it wasn't fish sauce or peanut sauce), but it went well with the rolls. $2.50. Banh mi / vietnamese sandwich - plenty of well seasoned meat, with cucumber, carrots, and cilantro (jalapenos on the side), inside a nice crunchy french bread shell. $2.50! Total was $7.50! Really, how could you go wrong?

  • Jessica B.

Went here last night, the food was amazing. Best special chow mean I've ever had. Awesome wonton soup too. Portions were HUGE you can easily feed two people with any one entree !!! Prices are very low, I don't think anything on the menu is over $10 most are less than that. This is my favorite new place, I want to go back today!!!

    (5)
  • Staci H.

Okay, it's not as amazing as actually eating IN Vietnam, or perhaps in bigger cities here in the US (even Seattle/Portland), but it's pretty incredible food nonetheless- and CHEAP! We got 2 tofu bahn mi and an order of tofu spring rolls for 9 bucks! Service is fast and friendly. Will definitely be returning.

  • G. M.

I've seen this place while driving by, but have never felt compelled to stop in. It doesn't look like much from the outside, just kind of a hole in the wall in an area that's not the greatest part of town. I had a craving for wonton soup and did a search, and this place came up. I got an order of the noodle soup with shrimp, pork and wonton, and an order of the specialty egg rolls. The egg rolls are on the small side, but you get two for $2.50. They were fresh, crispy and tasty. The soup contained thin egg noodles, two pieces of shrimp, some thinly sliced pieces of bbq pork and 5-6 wontons. The soup seemed to be chicken-broth based and was lightly seasoned. I normally don't like bbq pork (the kind that's bright red on the outside), but they sliced it paper thin, so it was tender and added a nice flavor. Unfortunately, I didn't care for the wontons, the filling was strangely sweet, so I ended up picking them out, but the noodles were plentiful, so I ended up eating noodle soup rather than wonton soup. The soup also came with a side of bean sprouts, chopped scallions and cilantro. All in all a pretty hearty soup for $6.99. I look forward to trying some of their other items.

Went here the first time on a whim and had a great meal. Wonderful sandwich and a good soup. Came back again with more family and they all agreed we'd be coming back here for more. Food is well done and tastes great. Service is top notch even when they are really busy. Didn't try the Chinese part of the menu, but am wiling totry next time. Looking forward to being back here

Its been years since I've been here. I was out running errands and decided to stop in for a sandwich. Ordered two sandwiches, the BBQ pork and the Vietnamese banh mi. They really skimp out on the meat.

I love the Chicken Pho and the spring rolls. My best friend lives a block away so I order takeout most of the time. It is family fun and the hostess/waitress is amazing! She always has my order ready to go in about 15 minuets. I can have one order of pho feed myself and my best friend or myself and a serving of leftovers. I love how everything comes separately for the Pho (when ordered to go) so that you can make the perfect bowl for you. A lot of places I have been to wont do special orders or let you order off menu and she never has a problem letting me add a side of carrots or extra orders of there amazing peanut sauce to my order.

Umm, so I am sitting in here, it's 94 degrees outside & Vien Dong doesn't have AC! It's actually hotter in here than out there. And it gets better because I am eating pho, so you know this place be a 5 star even as I am sweating bullets! IT IS PHO-NOMENAL! Also, as a fellow Asian who has grown up with this kind of fare, I can honestly say that it is up to par with my Grandma's food. That's almost painful to admit, but it is the truth! Order the #24 "Rare Beef & Beef Ball Pho" if you're new to pho. If you don't want a hot bowl of soup, order the #16 "Banh Mi" (grilled pork sammich, the best in Spo if you ask me) or #36 "Bun Day Biet" (vermicelli noodle combo with egg rolls, grilled pork, shrimp, & veggies). Let's see. Other things. Service is consistent. Every time I dine here my food comes within 15-20 mins of ordering. Mos def a typical Asian restaurant, hole-in-the-wall but they are clean & the hardest workers I have ever seen in the restaurant biz, or anywhere else for that matter.

Based upon the good reviews everyone else was giving Vien Dong I decided to give it a try. To start with it is on a beat up section of the boulevard that has seen better days, and is home to some of the more colorful chacters in town. The restaurant is sparcely decorated, but spotlessly clean. There was a large crowd and that speaks volumes. Whenever I try a new chinese restaurant I always start wth something easy like chow mein. Their version of chow mein is almost identical to the chow mein I get across town, but with more generous helpings of premium ingredients. Unfortunately it is not real chow mein, but that is all right no one else in town knows how to make it either. Although I gave Vien Dong an average rating I have very good feelings about the place and plan to come back and try some of the dishes that the other reviewers have recommended.

Yes, the size of small Pho is smaller compare to other Vietnamese pho shops. But it has a good amount of meat, noodles, vegis sprouts - and most importantly reasonably tasty pho. I don't see any reason not to try it. Roasted duck over the rice plate - good presentation and freshly cut lettuce and tomato slices. A good amount of duck meat is there, the only missing thing is taste. I won't recommend it. There are 2 servers - younger girl who seemed to brought up here speaks a good English and smiley a lot; the other middle-aged Viet lady is not good with English and quite blunt and don't smile , though not rude. Prices are reasonable. Well, that's my experience there, it's up to you to decide if you want to try theirs!

I was looking for a place close to work since I recently started working further down Sprague than usual. I've always gone to 3 Sisters for my pho "fix" I thought that the service was friendly and fast and the pho was delicious! Couldn't believe the prices either.........I'll definitely be a return customer!

I think it's quite good and the rating is based on Spokane offerings. On the coast or bay area it'd would be a 4. Also it is the cheapest place to eat (well) in town, hands down. $6 for a bowl of Pho and $3 for a Bahn Mi is no joke. That also factors into the score. That said I don't bother going anywhere else in Spokane to get my fix of Pho, none of the rest are as good in my opinion. Its also the only place with a traditional Bahn Mi (no, a Bahn Mi is not a cheese steak with cilantro).

This is perhaps the only place in Spokane which serves authentic Banh Mi sandwiches. The food at this eatery is very cheap. Their Banh Mi is only about $3 and they are all great. They are seasoned well, the bread is fresh and they are tasty. Their beef Pho is OK. They are not the best Pho in town but they are perfectly fine if you really want Pho. Their chicken Pho however is the best in town. The best dish on their menu is their shrimp fried rice. I, Dick Darlington, will kill for that dish. It is that good. Overall, Vien Dong is a fantastic eatery for cheap Vietnamese food. I never ordered any of their Chinese dishes on their menu. Why would you order Chinese food from a Vietnamese restaurant? It is like ordering Mexican food while dining at an Italian restaurant. I don't get that. Sincerely, Dick Darlington

Absolutely delicious. Ever since completely taking animal products out of my diet, pho was one of those dishes I really missed. Not anymore. I got my first ever vegan pho and vegan bahn mi here and both we're absolutely delicious. Everything was so fresh, but also cooked just right. I could taste all the different flavors of the veggies in the pho. The tofu bahn mi was big, flavorful, and fresh. I can't wait to go back.

Vien Dong first time ever I've been here, company from out of town raved about it, so after a cold day on the ice at Riverfront Park for my son and grandson I thought its close and probably be a great way to warm up! Cute simple little corner restaurant that's bright and cheery, the food, fresh and full of FABulous flavor. I'd never had Pho before and I ordered the #19, grandson at 3 always loves chicken, he spotted the Teriyaki Chicken photo and that is what he wanted. My son had the Broccoli Beef it all looked so good we shared and it tasted as good as it looked! Bonus...we had leftovers to take home!!! The place was busy plus with lots of Takeouts and they seemed to be able to handle it well. Just about a 5 minute drive east from downtown.

Pho is okay. Not the best. The place is dirty and was serve hard rice noodles. Had two different waitress and one dropped off our water (never back to refill it) the second waitress took our order, maybe she was having a rough day but she was very dry and lacking people skills. Was on the phone the whole time, my friend with me had to bring his left over to the counter, because clearly she was too busy on her cellphone.

5 stars for the food!!! The restaurant itself could use a good cleaning but he food it totally worth it. In my opinion it's the best Pho broth in town and the bin mah is an awesome value. I usually get mine to go so I don't have to look at the dust in the restaurant, but again totally worth it!!!

Huge bowl of Bun with lots of fresh veggies thrown in and the usual delicious, aromatic nuac cham poured on top. I will stop by and pick up a bunch of banh mi to go, at $2.75 apiece it is hard to beat and they are simple and tasty. I often throw on extra mayo with sriracha on it when I get home, but I like things spicy and saucy. Incredible prices, nice staff, quick service.

This is my new go-to spot for chicken pho. It's delicious and comes in giant sized portions. The spring rolls are great, too. The dining area of the restaurant itself could use a cleaning. I was wearing flip-flops and when I went to pay at the cash register, one of my shoes stuck to the floor!

Best phó we've found in Spokane. Huge portions and super cheap. This place is legit. One of the most delicate beef broths I've encountered. So light, clear and still glistening with deliciousness on top. We stop every time we pass through.

Pho noodles came in a lump! Had to separate them out by myself. Never had that happen at a pho restaurant. Terrible! Bahn Mi's are cheap if you are hungry, not flavorful at all. Not going back.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
