This place will be my new go to spot for any lunch sushi cravings. Or any Japanese food craving at all. A Co-worker and I decided to come here on a whim during a lunch break for a To-Go lunch. The hostess told us that they have a special during lunch hour, where it comes with a meat of your choice (teriyaki chicken, teriyaki salmon, or raw sushi) on rice, tempura fried shrimp, tempura fried veggies, 4 California sushi pieces, and a choice of miso soup/salad. My goodness, I was not only stuffed but my tastebuds were tantalized by the amazing teriyaki salmon they cooked. It was so delicious and a big piece of salmon to boot!! The tempura shrimp were large and came with a sweet salty dipping sauce that complimented it perfectly. Tempura fried veggies crunchy and crisp. Salad was fresh and had a delish Asian style dressing on it. The sushi was very fresh and tasty as well. On top of that they packed it very neatly and carefully so that there was no spills on my commute back to work. 5/5 one of my favorites now.

Geat fish and friendly staff. A whole pot of tea just for me and forget about it.

Came here a few years ago and was introduced to the yam roll. No other sushi place I've been to has ever had them. Went here a couple days ago to celebrate my birthday and had it again. So delicious. The service has gotten a lot better over the past couple years as well. Very pleased with my experience!

Two words: food poisoning. The owner was also pretty rude to me when I tried to order a to go order inside the store rather than over the phone. I don't think that's too much of a request in my opinion...

I visited here with my son and his friend. I am on a mission to eat sushi wherever I visit. After a tough day riding roller coasters and floating around the Lazy River at Silverwood Theme Park in northern Idaho we were ready for some dinner. Sushi I is right next door to Waddell's which is also great to try. We sat at the sushi bar and were a little indecisive on what to order. Mida was great and gave us special attention. We ordered three rolls to start with; the Godfather, the Dragon, and the Sex On The Beach. The Godfather and Dragon were excellent. The SotB was a little boring. After rolls we also ordered a sashimi dinner plate. It was excellent and very well presented. Our chef also provided us a small tasting of conch sashimi. Very good! I also wanted to order sake. I looked at the offerings presented in bottles on the counter and Mida said she also had some other options. She brought out an extra dry to be served in the traditional wooden box. It was an excellent choice. Overall, we really like Sushi I. Mida and Jay were very personable and gave us special attention. I will definitely return on my next visit to Spokane.

Stop by sushi one for lunch today . Great. service , I say great service.. I started out with the miso soup. Warm and tasty love the tofu pieces.. Next five piece sushi plate. The best thing about this plate you get five different types of seafood. Fresh and delicious. I finished with the teriyaki chicken served on a bed of vegetables and that wonderful sticky rice.. Great lunch I will be back... Thank you Sushi #1

This is our "sushi spot" not really fancy inside but oh so yummy. The Chef is awesome and treats us like VIP because well I am right? I like to think so. The miso gyoza and seaweed salad are my go to, and don't disappoint. They bring in fish on special and the last tuna we had just melted in the mouth. My two year old even liked eating it. You will pay the next day for the Spicy tuna in jalapeño but it's worth it... Just dooooo itttt!

Best sushi in Spokane. I'm a sushi snob and have tried sushi everywhere in Spokane. This is the best sushi hands down. They customize orders to what you like and it's never a disappointment. The staff is super friendly and always welcoming. It's the Cheers of sushi places. If you like it spicy, order the South Hill roll.

Fantastic service! So delicious! We went again last night and they remembered us. They gave us a free appetizer to try. It's not on the menu. It was a beautifully presented fried crab roll. Delicious! I love this place. I will be going back often.

Ordered the "teriyaki" chicken on takeout. What a horrible experience. First off the so called teriyaki chicken had no teriyaki taste whatsoever. It had more of a pepper soy sauce taste to it, if I was in the mood for some soy sauce chicken and veggies I would've made it myself at home. Second was the price and portion, what a joke! Almost $15 dollars and it came in this little styrofoam container. I am sure most of us are use to the regular size boxed containers you get with almost any kind of takeout. This was literally 1/4 of that size, and not even full!! The most generous piece of chicken I found was a joke!! It's was thin and the size was ridiculous. There was about 2 other smaller pieces in the mix and the rest, about 3 pieces, were literally dime sized. Worst take out experience ever. I might venture inside once to try the sushi, but never again will I order takeout from here again!!

Best neighborhood sushi in Spokane. So fresh & customer service is always super friendly!

Best sushi place I have ever been to! The owners Mita and Jay are two very nice people who provide great food and service every time I go. They are really knowledgeable about their seafood and menu and can help suggest what you may like. If you go during lunch time get a lunch box it's a great deal! I would defiantly recommend this place!

  • Russell H.

They have a pretty decent lunch bento box, but only available on weekday afternoons. The older waitress isn't very pleasant. Kind of sarcastic. I asked her to heat up my luke warm miso soup. She seemed surprised. I also needed more than a half tsp of wasabi. I guess I was just too demanding

Consistently the best Sushi in town. Favorite is the sushi I roll but everything is great. Great atmosphere, good service and never disappoints.

I really enjoyed eating here, the sushi was awesome and they have a wide variety of rolls on their menu. I will be back!

  • Sara A.

My roll fell apart, the dressing on the salad was too sour (they took the charge for that off), and the waitress scolded us and told us to be more careful when eating because the food was getting on the table and would cause it to smell.

I recently moved to Spokane and I am SO happy to have found Sushi I! The service is great and the food is even better. I highly recommend trying the Super Duper roll and the any of the lunch bento boxes -- SO good!

One of my favorite places to eat and the serving staff is personable, the restaurant is clean, and the food is delicious!

Sushi I has some great sushi. I got a salad to start and the four seasons roll. The salad was alright, the ginger dressing was a little too heavy. The roll had four kinds of fish inside, avocado, and there were four sets of two rolls (so eight rolls total) with different types of roe on top. Orange, red, green, and black. I remember the green was wasabi flavor and black was squid ink. It didn't add much difference to the taste of the roll but nonetheless that is why the roll is called four seasons. The waitress was telling me some story about each type of roe and how they mean special things in Japanese culture but to be completely honest, she lost me. Anyways, I definitely recommend this roll. Get some spicy mayo for it and your taste buds will be very happy. My confusion with this place stemmed from all the sexual innuendos on the menu. There is an appetizer called "sexy," a "sexy tuna roll," a "playboy roll," "casa nova roll," etc. First of all, I felt very uncomfortable just reading the menu. "Hi, can I have the sexy and a hand job... I mean, hand roll?" Forget ordering that out loud. Second, what did you do with my fish?? Anyways, I get they're trying to be cool but it's not. It's just not. Still, decent sushi for the area.

I have now been to a few sushi places in Spokane and this one is by far my favorite! Just one glance at the menu will have you laughing with sushi rolls named "awesome, the god father, playboy, and sex on the beach" to name a few! The place is really clean, professional, and the chefs make not only delicious rolls, but truly artistic masterpieces!

    (4)
  • Stephen F.

The sushi was just OK, and a little on the expensive side (though I might be biased since I'm used to California sushi). The service was... OK. That just about sums up this place: OK.

This was our first time here as I have heard rave reviews about their sushi. We ordered the spider roll and the I special roll which were both pretty good especially with cilantro. I was disappointed that they put the sautéed scallops on top of the I special roll this made it super greasy and it soaked right into the roll. The beef teriyaki though was probably the absolute best I have ever had in Spokane. The servers, hostess and chefs were great ! We sat at one of the tables outside next to the pond and watched the geese and ducks which was a bonus. We will be back.

  • Brittany B.

Had a great time here with my husband. The sushi was great! The place is a little small so I don't recommend big parties, but it was decently priced.

  • Amanda S.

We love this place, it's quick, convenient, and they have GREAT sushi. The wait staff is wonderful and it's definitely one of the best sushi places we have here in Spokane!!

  • Paige F.

Best sushi in Spokane!!! They really go above and beyond our expectations. Making us feel like family. I don't think we would ever go anywhere else fro sushi here in Spokane. My two favorite rolls are the 4 seasons roll (but made with spicy tuna), and the awesome roll. Also the Paige roll. Made with Salmon, cucumber, and avocado. Which is great for the kiddos. They also have soy paper in case you don't want the seaweed in your roll.

Let's see where do I start. Coming from San DiegoI was on my mission to satisfy my hunger for sushi, so I decided to give this place a try from reviews here on yelp! let's see, came with my family on valentines evening. I called before hand and the lady on the phone told me they had open tables, so I figured they weren't going to be slammed. When we first walked in the kitchen was a mess!! food all over the ground, the trashcan near the register was disgustingly over filled with beer and trash and was over flowing and the workers just continued to throw more trash in. The one waitress, was also the bartender apparently and was handling food, cash and drinks etc. without washing her hands she threw in ice from the machine with her dirty fingers into the martini she made at the register lol. I'm sorry, but a place that doesn't practice good sanitation is a NO GO! I didn't feel like getting myself and my family sick with food poisoning so we had to leave. I cannot rate their food because we didn't stay... All I can say is good luck if you chose to eat here!

  • Skylar G.

Great service and yummy sushi! The only down side is that there is not a lot of salmon or eel on the menu, there is a lot of imitation crab though. Other than that it was tasty and a decent spot for lunch.

Delicious sushi and appetizers! The heart track appetizer was delicious! Fabulous customer service! Definitely will be back

  • Kathryn N.

This is a 3.5 rating actually. Service was great, the ladies were very nice and even brought us some salad with their homemade dressing to try. Ordered the stuffed mushrooms, which was okay. I love mushrooms so this one suited my taste well. The heart attack was pretty good as well! Spicy tuna on a jalapeño fried. Not as good as the spicy bomb at Tokyo Seoul in Pullman. The sashimi appetizer was good, two salmon, two white fish and three tuna. I wish there was more salmon and less tuna. Our roll was the Four Seasons. I love the colorful Masago (little eggs) that represented the four seasons. The inside had salmon and white fish and was tasty. Overall a good experience. Would definitely come here just to order appetizers instead of rolls.

I like Sushi 1 well enough to have revisited a few times. They have 3 sushi rolls my family and I enjoy: The Godfather, Philadelphia Tempura and Happiness. The problem I find with Sushi 1 is roll variety and the Teriyaki is good enough to order and eat once. This raises doubts in my mind about the rest of the menu. Though there is one entire page dedicated to Sushi rolls, the variety within the rolls is unimpressive: Tuna, fake-crap, eel, salmon and maybe one or two more non-fish selections. I prefer to have more fish choices than the Tuna and Salmon. The Mochi is, so far, hit and miss. It can be delicious or disastrous depending who the chef is.

I love Sushi I !. It is our go-to for a quick, gorgeous sushi dinner. It never fails to disappoint. The staff is friendly, fun and efficient. The food is always fresh and VERY well presented. Tonight we tried the salmon cevice. Oh my! I posted a photo of this beauty... and it tasted just as good as it looks. The Cassanova roll with fresh cilantro was a winner as was the sashimi appetizer. Fresh, fresh, fresh!!! We'll keep coming back for more. Eventually we will work our way through the entire menu.

Wanted to love this place. A friend told me the love boat is to die for... Didn't order that because I wasn't super hungry and apparently it's a lot of food. The chefs were friendly the wait staff was alright. Ordered the baked mussels, miso soup, and shrimp tempura roll. My boyfriend order the nigiri appetizer and udon soup. The baked mussels were alright. Wouldn't order them again. Presentation was nice but they bake them with fake crab on the top of the mussel. Seem to that take away from the usual flavor of the dish. The shrimp tempura roll was a generous portion but they drenched it in soy sauce? Haven't had that done before either. Found all that I could really taste was the soy. Miso wasn't anything to write home about either. Average. My boyfriend said the nigiri at Ginger was better than here, he said his food was ok, From the pictures on Yelp I think we managed to order all the wrong dishes. We ordered 4 dishes and nothing really stood out. This makes me a bit skeptical.

Sushi was good. Fish tasted fresh. One of the better sushi in town. Not sure if we hit it on a bad day, but the service was really slow and the place not that busy. Also our waitress was either in a very bad mood or just not a friendly person.

  • Jonathan L.

I didn't have the same amazing experience everyone else seems to be having here. My wife and I shared an over-priced, under-flavored roll drenched in sauce to make up for its lack of substance. The salmon sashimi was admittedly good, yet double the price of "other" Spokane Sushi joints. Good, just over-priced and over-hyped.

Best sushi I've ever had! Great variety, friendly staff. I would visit Spokane for this alone.

Alrighty guys. I don't know how "authentic" the other reviews are, but this is as accurate as you can get. Me and 2 other friends went there the other night, and as broke college students from EWU, it's safe to say that this was without doubt, one of the best sushi places I've been to. And let me break that down into layman's terms. Service was absolutely awesome. We got seating within the first 2-3 minutes of getting there, the waitresses were very nice and helpful. The guys prepping the food were extremely nice, (Since we sat at the sushi bar, we chatted with them a bit), and we got our food within the first 5-10 minutes of ordering. Now, the food? For being cheap as it is, you cannot get it better. I've been to other places, and all the other reviews, I can tell you they're crap. I ordered the Gyoza and Tuna rolls (Which were worth every penny), my friends had the TGIF and the Godfather/Grandfather, something of the sort, and those were amazing. So amazing, that I wish I didn't order the friggen tuna. Did I mention that they gave us complimentary pastries after the meal? It was a nice warm treat before going back into the rain. So that is my review for Sushi I. (No, I wasn't paid, nor do I work for them). I'm a broke college transfer, and I had a stellar fucking time at Sushi I. Ya'll should go.

What fun to eat at a sushi place where you NEVER have to worry about being disappointed! Let's agree, Spokane is not San Francisco, Seattle, Portland. But this sushi is the freshest, tastiest, and very creative and lovely!! Service is great, they keep an eye on you but they aren't pushy. Need a quick meal? It comes quickly. Wanna take time to talk with your buddy after dinner? That's ok too! And it's good to let the staff know that. It's the first time I've been recognized in a restaurant after the first two meals there! And I drive from out of town, about 70 miles away! That's how comfortable and delicious Sushi I is!! PS. Ordered Chirasi off dinner menu for 1st time--about $20. A sashimi type bowl of 3 nicely cut pieces of 5 different fish, beautifully presented with rice at bottom of bowl, and daikon on sides. Easily enough for two! Just super!

Experienced Sushi connoisseurs understand that Sushi restaurants run the gamut from Fast-Food style to extremely high end. For an analogy how do you compare your meal at McDonalds to that of a 4 star restaurant? They both have their places on the respective food chain /scale and it's important to realize that the 4 star restaurant crowd may not like the fast food options while the fast food crowd may turn their nose up at the 4 star food; to each his own. In this case Sushi I would rank on the diner end (one step up from fast food) of the sushi restaurants. NOTE: This does not mean that their food is bad, gross, icky or their fish is rotten or sub-par, what it does mean is that if you are expecting a high end experience you will not get it here, but you will get decent low end Sushi. Examples: They have 36 rolls on their menu with 14 of them featuring imitation crab, 7 feature cream cheese, and 9 feature fried items. They only had 7 different options for their nigiri, 5 seem to be the standard menu fare that is served to everybody, everyday. This is a very good to excellent beginner/ lower-end Sushi spot. It's for those who think California roll with imitation crab is eating true sushi and the idea of adding some real seafood to a roll is downright exotic. Their rolls are cheap and large (mainly because they add so much filler), however the fish is GOOD quality and they have lots of rolls for the California roll type crowd. For the more experienced sushi eater the rolls will appear slightly pedestrian, rather like the pre-made selection at the grocery store and to be honest I found little to get excited about. The service was very good, although they missed the overturned top to the teapot for almost 7 minutes. The ambience was nothing to write home about, because of the clientele that will frequent the place I understand why they had multiple TV's on showing sports, something you wouldn't want in a higher end sushi place. One minor irritant was the music they played, it went from heavy metal to 80's and was a little too loud and obnoxious for my taste. Bottom Line: I would go back for some lunch nigiri and to try a few appetizers but there really wasn't enough variety in their fish or roll choices to make me want to return. Beginner Sushi eater - 4.5 Stars - Value 5 stars Experienced Sushi eater 3 stars - Value 3 Stars Service - 4 Stars Ambiance 3 stars ______________________________ Beginner Sushi Eater - 4.125 Stars Experienced sushi Eater - 3 Stars

I have been coming here for almost a year and I have to say, THIS IS THE BEST SUSHI RESTAURANT on the West Coast. Try it, you will love it!

  • Jessica A.

Sushi I is literally the best sushi I have ever had! First of all, let me say that they are SUPER gluten-free friendly! For just a little extra (I think like $2-3) you can substitute the imitation crab for fresh snow crab, and they carry Kikoman's gluten free soy sauce, all you have to do is ask. Now, I will say that at lunch time, the chef tends to add plain flaked snow crab, while the dinner chef will typically use snow crab mixed with a little mayo so it still has the same moistness. It is reasonably priced and has tons of different rolls. I have tried a lot of the different ones and they were all good. I just graduated from EWU and have moved back to the Seattle area, and I desperately miss going to Sushi I with my friend. I can't seem to find a small quiet place like it in my area that actually has real crab to substitute for the imitation crab.

Don't waist your time going to other sushi. I am a sushi lover and this is the ONLY place in Spokane that offers fresh, amazing sushi. you will NOT regret it ;)

My Favorite Sushi bar is all of Spokane. The T.G.I.F. Roll is awesome, so is Sex on the Beach Roll. The Miso Soup is really great too. I try to go here as much as I can. The Rolls are very Large too.

Fellow Yelpers - you were RIGHT - this is a very good Sushi place. I took my teenage son to Suhshi 1 last night, and we had a great dinner. I trusted the Yelp reviews and decided to give it a try - a little hesitant because it looked too "commercial" - strip mall, and centered amongst some trendy other south hill eateries - I thought it promised "high prices and almost good sushi" - but I was wrong. I've learned that if the Sashimi is bad - I never trust anything else. The sashimi dinner far exceeded my expectations, included several interesting offerings, more than the menu indicated and it was Fresh and wonderful - artfully displayed. The best sashimi I've had in spokane so far - seems these folks actually know what they're doing! My son tried the california role and the rainbow role - though not as adventurous as him mom regarding sushi, the kid has tried 50 different california and rainbow rolls and has learned "good" from "bad" - he declared them his favorite in spokane. I asked him why he thought they were his favorite, "They taste better, seem fresher, looked nicer, and I got more" - two thumbs up. Better yet, I thought the service was very friendly - helpful and attentive without being annoying - I love that. We kicked back on the back patio and enjoyed a nice quiet mother/son dinner. We both agreed "gotta take dad here, he would LOVE IT!".... Dad can be pretty picky, so that says something. Lastly - how many sushi dinners for two seem to ring up to $70 - $80???? Most of them in Spokane do, it seems. I was delighted to have our dinner ticket come in under $45, for two plentiful dinners with lots of assortments - the prices were very, very fair. We will be back, am so glad we gave this place a try. Thanks fellow yelpers, you did well.

This is my favorite restaurant in Spokane, hands down. It's not fancy, but it's where you go to feel at home and get some amazing sushi from fabulous people. Every time my husband and I go, they treat us like family. When we told Mida (the owner I presume) that my husband got a new job, she made him a special not-on-the-menu dessert from scratch. Amazing! My favorite rolls are the beauty and the beast, spicy tuna and california rolls. Oh, and the plum wine pairs wonderful with any of the sushi! I love it here!

  • Dave G.

We've been going increasingly more frequently to this South Hill sushi restaurant. Quality of food is consistently high and the service is good. As we have gotten to know the servers, they have shared that there are some dishes "not on the menu" that we have been introduced to. Yum! Don't let the strip mall location fool you --- it's actually pretty darn good.

Had some California rolls and a noodle vegetable stir fry. Loved it. Made fresh and very tasty. Will be bringing family and friends next time :)

Wonderful experience. Waitstaff was attentive and very friendly. One of the few places I have found that services pineapple sake...a big plus in my book. The "Godfather" was excellent as were the eel rolls. Looking forward to returning before I leave town.

  • Tabatha S.

One of my favorites in town. Super friendly, everything is fresh and I have never had bad sushi ever. Price on special rolls can be pricey, but worth it!

    (5)
  • Cara D.

Maybe we just caught them on an off night, but my experience (foodwise) was bad enough to not go back. Service was just fine, which is why I gave this two stars. Normally sushi is one of my favorite meals out, so I love trying new places, but this was just plain bad. My sister had a bone in her sushi through three different pieces in the roll. My sushi had that kind of questionable fishiness where you wonder if its actually gone bad... My sister agreed. All of our rolls were very bland on top of it.

    (2)
  • Stacey N.

I have been here only once so my review is solely based on one visit. Food was not good and service was unfriendly. I ordered udon noodles and asked for chili sauce. The waitress said she did not have any. How do you not carry chili sauce at a restaurant?!

    (2)
  • Will T.

The atmosphere was a disappointment and the service was a bit too rushed. The quality of the sushi was average to above average. Pretty good for Spokane.

  • Karyn C.

We travel with a group of 8 when we have sushi. We've been all over town. Sometimes we order the boat, sometimes just rolls. This was our first visit here and we were completely wowed. We ordered a boat and it was full of the freshest sashimi and nigiri and rolls. We also ordered extra rolls, chef's choice. Amazing! We had a birthday in our party and they comped us this gorgeous platter of moochi and tempura banana, tempura cheesecake and ice cream. The service was outstanding as well. We were talking about going back before we were even out of the parking lot. Seriously great experience!

    (5)
  • Richard P.

Absolutely the best. Friendly service, pricing is acceptable, they remember my name and my family's as well every visit. I always ask the waitress for their favorite and they usually bring me something not on the menu that is always amazing. Best sushi in Spokane

  • Priscilla B.

My daughter and I go to Sushi I to celebrate anything! We celebrate here because we love the freshness of the sushi. The manager is the most pleasant person and also his assistants. They always remember what we like and fixes it to perfection. I recommend it to anyone who loves good sushi!

FINALLY! Sushi in Spokane that tastes like sushi in Seattle!

    (4)
  • Matt A.

Very friendly service and nice atmosphere, but mediocre food. Teriyaki chicken came with nice crisp fresh cooked veggies but chicken was rubbery and dry like it was cooked many hours before and reheated. Lobster sushi was very mixed. Lobster itself was properly cooked and tasty, but covered with strange cheesy sauce that took from it, and seaweed wrap on sushi was very chewy and hard to eat. It might have just been an off night, but it will probably be awhile before we go back.

It had been months since I had been to this wonderful sushi place. Then I went twice in a week because I missed it so much and was instantly re-addicted. j/k it's a controllable urge to eat here. This is the best sushi in Spokane in my opinion. The fish tastes very fresh!!

    (5)
  • Ali S.

I was very impressed with the service. Extremely helpful. I thought their sushi was very good! I would be frequanting this place for lunch often. Its hard to believe anyone will be disappointed. I will note that this place is not a high end place if that is what you are looking

    (4)
  • Kiira B.

The best sushi I've had so far in Spokane! I went with my mother-in-law and ordered Awesome, Sex on the Beach, and Tempura Philadelphia to split between us - there was tons left over! Each had unique and fresh flavor. The staff was courteous and helped us make our choices. Prices are only slightly above other sushi places I've been to in town, but it's most definitely worth it! Also, we sat on the patio near the man-made pond with fountains - great atmosphere!

    (5)
  • David N.

Very friendly staff that will do anything to please you. We were a little shocked at the prices until we saw our first roll...they were HUGE. We had the Philadelphia and the Happiness (which was my favorite!) and plenty left over to take home. The appetizers were nothing special, but the rolls definitely made up it. I would definitely go back again!

Very friendly staff. Had Nigiri Salmon. The Salmon was very good quality!

Sushi I has the best sushi I have had here in Spokane. Sushi com is horrible compared to this place. My husband and I went recently and had the Happiness and Spider rolls. Their entrees are pretty good too. My only complaint is and well I might be OCD on cleanliness but... one sushi chef was talking on his cell phone while making sushi. He was wearing food service gloves so it might not be that bad. I just pretended he had some urgent phone call he had to get. Somehow that made me feel better. I would still go back because it was really good sushi.

I had the negiri and sashima dinner. It was a little off putting that they had imitation crab on my plate. Fortunately, that was not part of my actual sashimi portion of the meal (I would have sent it back otherwise). The fish was pretty good but boring in terms of variety. I like getting dinners because they usually offer variety. Here, that was not the case. All the same fish across the board. Saving point...they had uni!!! Nobody in Spokane has uni (even at $8 for two pieces it was worth it). My BF, as usual, had rolls. He rather enjoyed his meal.

Good tempura, tamago (egg), and kappa maki sushi, miso soup, etc. The restaurant is clean, and the service is excellent. Our dinners were served relatively quick, and the tempura sauce was hot. The restaurant is not an authentic Japanese restaurant, but the food is still very good and fresh, and for now (March, 2012), I think it is one of the better Asian restaurants in the area. The tempura sauce did not come with daikon, but it was served hot. The rice was warm, and not the best quality. The tempura was hot, and the vegetables were fresh, and not too oily. The servings were decently sized, but the ginger and wasabi on the sushi plates was very small, though we probably could have asked for more. We did have a bit of trouble getting togarashi (dry chili pepper), but it turned out they did have it! There are some dishes that have a type of Asian fusion element to them, for example, the Agedashe tofu was more Chinese style, with large square slices instead of square tofu, but was served fried, and in an oyster sauce with mushrooms. To be fair, I think it was labeled as "Age Tofu" on their menu, but it was good anyways. Tea was just OK. I wish their dinner entrees included salad and miso soup, but you have to pick one or the other. The prices are great, we didn't try any dessert's, but I would expect that they would be excellent. Great new (for us) restaurant that replaced a Quizno's I think, the last time we were in that strip mall a year or two ago.

My husband and I love this place. They have very fresh sushi (hello quail eggs!) and fast service (so long as you sit at the sushi bar - table service is unbearably slow). It's a long drive for us but worth it. We used to be sushi com, then raw then ginger fans but this place has the freshest sushi at the best prices. I would also like to comment on David G's 1 star review. WE WERE THERE THAT NIGHT - his wife made a huge scene in front of the entire restaurant which is tacky and they were SO rude to that waitress (who burst into tears after you left). Also, they did not leave exact change, they left less than their actual bill and it got that waitress into huge trouble - all the waitresses had to pull from their tips to cover what they didn't pay. That's so pathetic.

Friendly if sometimes under-staffed... delicious fish and great prices. For example, we had multiple orders of the $8 sashimi appetizer when we found it had seven total pieces of nice thick cut salmon, tuna, and albacore.

Great restaurant. Courteous staff, fast service, price appropriate for portion size and quality. My girlfriend was not sushi fan until she ate here.

I like having a neighborhood Sushi Bar. It's nice to have the people recognize you when you come in, and to get good sushi at a reasonable price. I've been back several times, and I plan on being a regular customer.

Let me start by saying I eat at a new sushi place almost every week. That being said, this place is hands down one of the top locations I've had the pleasure of experiencing. First, the service. Friendly, knowledgeable, and genuine. We never once felt rushed or out of place and the staff was more than happy to offer suggestions, explain various items to our group, and even chat with us about various topics. A+++ Second, the food. Our group ate a lot of different things, but we all agreed the mussels were THE best any of us have ever had. The Tiger Roll was superb, as was the Salmon in general. Ending the meal with a delicious miso soup was perfection. A+++ Overall, I will come back here everytime I'm in Spokane and recommend this place to anyone I know that will be in town. Wow! A big thank you to Mida for being amazing!

I'll just come out and say it, sushi I is very mediocre. Granted I'm a sushi snob, but I've eaten here 4 times and each time I'm left with the feeling that it could just be so much better. The most disappointing part of my dining experience was the staff. At the first few visits, staff members seemed sweet and caring but then on my last visit it quickly turned into my date and myself being treated way too casually. One waitress literally fed my date with chopsticks and then preceded to hug me after the meal. It may have been appropriate if I was a frequent patron but I'm really not. I was left rather creeped out and embarrassed that I had brought my date here. To be fair, another waitress goes out of her way while I'm in the restaurant to make my dining experience better. She takes a personal interest in me and is very courteous and professional. The two contrasts make dining here like a coin toss. The fish is sometimes fresh but sometimes really not as fresh as I would prefer. There's not much salmon on the menu but definitely a lot of tuna. It's a 50/50 chance for a good meal.

I've been here a few times now and the sushi is always fresh and delicious. The staff is also really friendly. My teen daughter loves this place, so it's a win-win-win.

Staff was very friendly, even the cooks! They were a bit slow because it was only two of them serving, we waited at least 45 minutes for our main dish and when we ordered again it took about 15 minutes. The ingredients were very fresh, plated beautifully, and tasted really good.

I guess I am really alone on this, but I was just not overly impressed, here. It is freezing cold, the ambience is dark and unwelcoming, and it took a long time for the lady to come speak with us. She is the owner and the main server. The sushi was just ok, as well. I would have to say I like Ginger much more, although most of my friends prefer Sushi I. I am reluctant to give it a second chance, as I also felt it was overpriced. I honestly could not enjoy my food because all i could think about was leaving since I was frozen.
