No vegetarian pho. The staff is friendly staff. Good Thai tea. Crappy fried tofu, it was all watery. Nice restaurant plenty of seating. The pho just didn't taste all that good. So far my least favorite pho place in town. Peanut sauce tasted like watered down peanut butter.

I had heard great things about Pho Van, and was expecting a great experience. What I got, though, was terrible service. It took 20 minutes and asking three times to get water. Then, it took another 30 minutes before we ordered. Then, another 30 minutes waiting for our food. The service was absolutely terrible, and the food was only ok. My group was there for a total of 2 hours. If I hadn't been there to celebrate a friend's birthday, I would have walked out.

Disclaimer...I am from NorCal, where every block has a Pho place. I was in Spokane on business and stopped on a whim while going from meeting to meeting. Located right off Division Street, with ample parking. I was greated at the door and seated promptly. I ordered Spring Rolls and Duck Noodle Soup. I thought I might be in trouble as the Spring Rolls were below average, care was not taken when preparing them, they were sloppy and filled with too much lettuce. The sauce was as thickk as peanut butter and tasted like it too. But...lunch was saved with a large bowl over very flavorful Duck Noddle Soup. The broth was delicious and there was about a 1/2 flavorful duck inside, add the tender noodles and bok choi, along with the normal items that accompany Pho, it was a very good meal indeed. I will definatly stop when I am next in town, great value, but will skip the Spring Rolls.

I really wanted to try Pho Van since last summer when we saw it. First impression very nasty dirty old stove sitting behind the restaurant in full view from the parking lot. Upon entering we were not greeted ,seated or treated with a menu. Finally a gal looks up from the counter and points us towards the tables. We choose one and it takes ten minutes to get menus, ten more to get asked what we would like to drink.,then ten more to get drinks. The menus are filthy, stained and could use wipe down , just like the tables and floors. There is no love in the food, the interior or the slow indifferent help. The spring rolls were very different from the others I have had, and tasted ok. I am used to a fried version. The pho was very weak and the meat balls were awful. I could not eat them.Ice tea was very weak and basically undrinkable. I will not go back.

Delicious....My wife and came in from out of town and found Pho Van. We both ordered Pho soup. I received the #4 roundsteak and meatballs and my wife ordered the Pho Chicken soup (large). The soups were delicious and very flavorful. The portion was more than enough to satisfy my hunger and also take a large container home for later. The spring role was ok, I've had better. We then noticed someone with a Vietnamese iced coffee and had to try it. It was awesome, black coffee press dripped into a cup with sweetened condensed milk then poured over ice. yum. I would definately go back to Pho Van when in town again.

Note: the Hamilton location is currently closed so make sure you come here if you are looking for this place. Lovely, small restaurant. Wasn't too crowded when we got there and we got our food very quickly. They feature coconut and guava juices but were out of coconut when we were there. Had a big bowl of delicious pho. Got my fix :-)

I will definitely be back when I'm visiting my family in Spokane. The pho was soooo nummy! I was missing a good bowl of Pho and being from Hawaii, its not easy to find on the mainland. I expected the food here to taste different than what I am use to but to my surprise and joyous delight, it was authentic. I ordered #8 and enjoyed it very much. I like that home doesn't seem too far away when I'm visiting Spokane. Delicious, authentic, fresh Vietnamese cuisine.

I was here on a visit with my daughter who is going to college. She was craving Pho, instead of college food, so she mentioned this place and we gave it a try at lunch hour on a Friday, the place was busy, so I thought, hmm, must be a good place to eat, but after 5 minutes of giving our menu, our waitress for some reason ignored our table to get our order, so I had to get up and fetch her to tell her we are ready to order. I'm from Western Washington area in the Puget Sound region, and I've had my fair share Pho from Seattle to Tacoma and Olympia and everywhere in between + Vancouver, BC. So I know a good Pho when I order a bowl. I wished I could have given this place a better rating than what I had given... I loved the setting and the atmosphere, but when my daughter and I ordered our typical Pho and spring rolls with a couple ice tea, the Pho noodles were soggy, the broth was good but the noodles were too soggy. The spring rolls fell apart after the first bite, not tightly wrapped like I've experienced back home. They didn't have any chili sauce, which is a must for me. They only carried sriracha sauce and hoisin sauce and a couple of soy sauce. My daughter and I typically finish a bowl of pho, but on this day, we couldn't finish it because of the noodles. The beef and tendons were good, but when you have sloppy, soggy noodles its hard to eat. Don't think we'll stop here again, and we'll try other pho places in the area. Oh and the waitress forgot our ice tea that we also ordered.

Pho is average... Nothing to get excited about. Would I come back, prob not if another Pho is nearby.

Visited this establishment recently and I struggled to believe that the products are made were Vietnamese. I had the #6 pho, the noodles were precooked and clumped together. The broth was not hot and very bland. My friend tried the almond chicken...one would think there would be almonds but it was a paste that was inedible. This is a disgrace of a "Vietnamese" pho restaurant.

lunch time here was quite good. Average Vietnamese restaurant to me. I was in town for a business meeting, and this had the best ratings. My friends thought it was really good and gave it 4 stars. However, they also think Pho Than Brothers and Pho Hoa are great too. Those two restaurants are just okay to me. There's not a big Vietnamese community in Spokane, so this is a place to try and I don't mind coming back. Service is good though and quite fast. This place does have a nice setting. This is a good place for tourists or people who have never tried Vietnamese food before.

I've been going here for years. The service and quality have been consistently great. I always order the #1 (basic beef pho), but others I've been with have ordered a variety of dishes, and no one has been disappointed. I've tried other pho restaurants, but this is the one I always return too.

Easily my favorite won ton soup I've had in town. The service is always good but they do take a bit longer than expected. If your craving an amazing broth and pleasant atmosphere Pho van is the place.

I recently went to Pho Van with a couple of my mothers oversea clients, and I was expecting what I always come back for. Good service with a friendly smile, but when we entered with our large group of nine no one was three to greet us. So we stood there huddled by the looking like idiots! When finally a young women dashed out of the kitchen with two bowls of steaming pho. She didn't notice us until she came rushing back from the table assuming she was going back for a coupe more bowls. So then she said "Oh just take a seat at that table I will be with you in a second." Right about now I'm thinking "What happened with the rest of the servers?" After a good five minutes of us waiting at our table she comes by to ask us if we wanted waters, of course we said yes. So about five more minutes passed until we got our waters then all of a sudden she asked off to the kitchen and brought out well you guessed it more bowls of pho. After that we ordered our appetizers and main dishes, thinking to myself that "We won't get our food in a hour at this rate." Surprisingly we did faster than expected (the only good thing). What I'm very disappointed about with Pho Van is there lack of customer service. Sure you have good food but that only goes so far, if you want people coming back or even think about recommending you to my friends, aunts, uncles and Betty Sue down the street. You need to have better customer service instead of having one person looking like the chicken that you just cut the head off of and considering hiring one more person. Overall the experience that I had that night I would re consider your pho options.

The selection of broths and meats available in the pho is kinda lacking, but the taste is amazing and the portions are huge. I had the curry chicken special on my most recent trip to the Division location and it was amazing! It was more like a jerk chicken with a rub on it with a heaping pile of rice. The homemade "lemonade' which is more of a limeade, is always good and the staff is nice and helpful with questions you might have about the food.

Great tasty yummy Thai food made by Thai owner! She knows her food. I've spent 8 months in Thailand & had the best. This ranks up there with the tastiest & is homemade curry (not store bought paste in can/packets). Great lunch specials for $8.95 too!!

I've been here twice now when I'm in Spokane. I would probably lean more closer to 3.5 stars. On the two times I have been here, I have had the chilli beef and rice. It's a good sized portion. The beef isn't too spicy, so I usually add some of the chilli paste that is standard in all Vietnamese restaurants to put some extra heat into it. All in all, nice and filling when you have to visit Spokompton.

Growing up on Vietnamese food, I had to try some while in Spokane for work. I stopped by Sunday afternoon around 3pm for a late lunch and was surprised that there were so many people. Service is a bit slow, but I am used to this at typical asian restaurants. You just have to wave them down or go up to the counter. Don't be shy! I got the spring rolls and Pho. Spring rolls were alright, but not bad. I like that they have 2 sizes for the Pho so that I can order an appetizer as well and not be super stuffed. I ordered the small size but was really filling. The broth was amazing. That's the only way you judge a vietnamese restaurant. I also got the rice dish with grilled pork, beef and a fried egg to go. It was extra food meant for my dinner so by the time I actually ate it, it wasn't very good. This is a place that I'll definitely stop by every time I'm in the area.

I might have just had one of my worst dinning experiences ever! We ordered spring rolls and vermicelli and were very explicit to exclude peanuts due to a serious allergy. We frequent many different types of restaurants and have never had an issue with servers understanding. The server delivered the spring rolls with the peanut sauce and the vermicelli with crushed peanuts on top. When I asked for the dish to be prepare again without peanuts the server took the plate back to the kitchen and brought it back out. The peanuts were no longer on top of the dish, but had been mixed in. When I addressed this with the server, I was asked if I would like it prepared again at which time I chose to leave the restaurant instead of risking exposure. After trying to explain to the server multiple times I just gave up. We have had very good service and positive experiences in the past at this restaurant, although this experience was very disheartening.

Phõ Van is hands down my favorite Asian place in Spocompton! I say Spocompton, because of the 1/8th of the patrons who either were never taught that it's extremely rude and crass to cuss like "gangstas" (to you people, you are NOT cool, you are trashy losers who bring down the class of any business you enter) while at a family restaurant, or those miserable souls who hate Asians and Asian cuisine, and wonder "where the damn fries are on the menu!". Now that I got THAT outta my system, I'll continue raving about how much this place gets right! The Pho is EXCELLENT!! I recommend the #8 as it has all of the "nasty bits" in them and is like an amusement park of textures. The #16 (Bun Cha) is a real gem that allows you to have a taste of everything, but for me, I always go back to the Pho. The waitstaff are great, always moving, polite (even to the aforementioned jerks that I personally wouldn't let in the doors), and friendly. The additions the the pho are fresh and plentiful. I have gone here for my birthday the last two years, and I either bring my from-outta-town Asian friends (and my wife and i have a bunch, as shes a medical student) here or take out all the time. The interior is clean and inviting, but even on weeknights, they can be quite busy, but, as with most things in life, your patience will be rewarded!

I have found my favorite restaurant in Spokane. It is Pho Van. This is located on a busy desolate street in Spokane. The building is an old Pizza Hut. However the interior is nice. The chairs all match and the floor is shiny dark wood. I like what they have done to the place. The food is great. The bowls of Pho are not small. They are absolutely the largest bowls of soup I have ever witnessed, and I was afraid to order one. I ordered a special, with beef, vermicelli, pickled salad, and egg roll. It was the best thing I have eaten in a long time. The service is a bit slow, but nice. It's worth the wait for good food.

I've lived all over, and spent a lot of time in Seattle & San Fransisco where Pho shops are a regular site. This is by far the best one in Spokane! The broth is delicate, but also intricate, and their spring rolls are just great.

Descent Viet/Chinese American place. Pho here is descent, nothing spectacular. Spring rolls made in advanced so when you get them there a little stiff and dry. Not many Vietnamese selections mainly pho and a few rice and noodle dishes. Other half of menu Chinese/American. Service not that great. After you order your food and they deliver it. They seem to not see or hear you when trying to ask a question. Though everyone else in the place can. I've been to a few Vietnamese pho places in Washington and so far not impressed.

Food: Vietnamese This restaurant offers some traditional Vietnamese "plate lunch" or noodle dishes as well as some Ameri-Chinese standards on the second half of the menu. Stick with the Vietnamese standards. Tried their Pho Dac Biet (with everything); Although the priciest bowl of pho at $8 for a large, very generous portions and large pieces of tendon - only thing lacking (for some) would be the inclusion of tripe. Raw mung bean sprouts, lime, basil and sliced jalapeno (missing some traditional leafy greens, but that's just being nit-picky). Decent broth, not overly salty. Tried their bun cha $8.75 which was likewise very generous in portion, particularly with the grilled sliced pork and came with two cha gio sliced into thirds. Finally tried com tam which included a thin marinated pork chop on the bone, two strips of short ribs on the bone, a skewer of three fried shrimp, fried egg, iceberg lettuce sliced cucumber on a bed of rice. Most expensive dish we tried at $9.75 but was generous with the protein items. Not certain it was served over com tam (broken rice) but the rice was certainly fragrant and properly made; Nothing worse than being served badly made rice. {See Photos Above} Drinks: Full Bar Service: Attentive friendly service without being smothering. Food came out relatively quickly, although the restaurant wasn't very busy at the late hour that we were dining. Atmosphere: The nicest looking Vietnamese restaurant we've been to in Spokane. Newly renovated with a somewhat chic modern interior - the outside of the restaurant is very deceptive. Very comfortable, and you don't feel like you're sitting in a restaurant overlooking the very busy Division St. The large private lot is a plus. Comments: Although the food is a tad more expensive than other local Vietnamese restaurants, the portions, quality of dishes, as well as the wonderful atmosphere more than compensates. If I were to introduce Vietnamese food to newcomers, I would certainly bring them here first to offer the best impression. I would highly recommend this restaurant to a friend.

LOVED food and service!! Only reason not getting 5 stars, it would have been nice if they served a cold beer/ wine with dinner.

Had the number 2 (beef pho) and number 13 (beef and rice), and spring rolls. All tested great. First time there, but from the 4 pho restaurants I've been to in Spokane, this was the best.

A typical Vietnamese restaurant. The beef soup base is above average. Good beef slides. Good size

A large group of us went in on a Sunday evening for pho. The place seemed busy and the servers frantic, however, we were seated within 5 min of our groups arrival which was awesome. Everything was great besides the fact that we had some of our guests waiting almost an hour for water and the drinks we ordered at the beginning of our meal. We asked both servers multiple times where our drinks were politely. A very rude response to our inquiry about our drinks was given to us, stating that she has been "very busy and doesn't have the time". Immediately after I see our server carrying one glass of water to another table. Our party finally received the drink at the end of our meal and she still had to pay for it! No apology or comp for the trouble. Very poor service and attitude. If they had extra help answering the phones, bussing tables and ringing out guests for their meals it wouldn't be so hectic. Next time if we want pho we will take our business else where.

I appreciate that Spokane would even have a decent Pho restaurant! I came up to Spok-ez for a wedding and my good friend and I hit this place up for a good ol' bowl of pho. As usual we ordered larges from the friendly Vietnamese waiter and devoured our bowls. The service was quick and timely. I really liked that they remodelled what was clearly an old fast food joint but did it in a very chic way (for Spokane). I was just a little disappointed that they did not have a bar. Also, the prices were a bit much (I can not believe that tripe was not served!) but otherwise this place was a classy joint. I guess I also did not appreciate the broth being on the salty side also. - 1 for prices and no bar - 1 for tripe and salty broth + 1 fast and friendly service + 1 atmosphere/environment + 1 decent (portions and taste) pho in Spokane?!

I can't remember the last time I had food this bad. The vermicelli broth tasted like soap, the pho smelled bad, the sweet and sour chicken was dry and the sauce was gross. Big portions, but not worth the inedible food. If you must, drown it in hot sauce.

    (1)
  • Vu N.

Oh wow, pho here is really good. I always order a pho dac biet and pretty much down the whole bowl. I ordered a small but I wished I had order a large because it was so yummy. The broth was delicious, the beef was fresh ans so was the veggies. I would have given them 5 stars but the were knocked down 1 star because the serve Thai ice tea out of a can and it was even cold. Just order soda or something else when you are there. We are definitely going back here.

Maybe it's the water in Spokane or just the food itself, everywhere I've eaten in this town has made my stomach toss and turn. I'd figure a bowl of pho would be the sure fire remedy to end it all, after all, pho cures most ailments. The pho itself was A-OK, not bad, service was good, and place was clean! However for some strange reason the food had me burping for four hours straight on the drive home, or could it have been the water?

  • Dave W.

I just moved to Spokane from Seattle, and I have eaten a ton of Pho. I know what I like, and I know what I dont. But, this place was very good. The pho was flavorful, instead of that bland, simple taste some places have. I am all about value, and there was more meat in my small #8 than i have ever got before, and it was not overcooked, My only complaint was that the spring rolls were not as good as some I have had. But I will return for sure.

    (4)
  • Greg P.

We've eaten here 3-4 times--mostly the pho. It has always been very good. As usual for such a place, you get a generous portion of soup for a reasonable price. The small is enough for me and my wife cannot usual finish the small. The spring rolls are very good also. I'm giving it a 4 instead of a 5 because there are a couple of Vietnamese restaurants we have eaten at that we like better (Pho 777 in Reno, NV and Pho C&C in Chico, CA). This is pretty good for the somewhat limited ethnic restaurant selection in Spokane though.

This is by far the *best* Pho I've ever had! I went here for the first time last summer with a friend. I had been wanting to try P.V. for a awhile, but never got around to going. The Phood here is awesome! Great prompt, quick service. The broth in the Pho is rich and beefy tasting and has many flavor elements present in the broth as well: garlic, ginger, onion, and many others that I can't put on finger on. There is a generous amount of cilantro in there as well, and they give you a plate of fresh jalapeño, bean sprouts and basil with your bowl of Pho. The Chinese food they have on their menu is wonderful also, and the freshest and non greasy compared to alot of other places on Division. Their Almond Chicken and S&S Pork is wonderful also, and the meat is lean with no fat on it, and it's not dried out either. When I have called in a order, my order has always been brought out fresh, hot and in a prompt manner. The atmosphere is definitely great, especially if your wanting to bring a date here too, the atmosphere is impressive, the food is great and the service is top notch.

This is a cute restaurant on one of the main drags in Spokane with lots of seating and a decent-sized menu. I ordered the #16 (it was delicious!) and a Thai iced tea (standard). Went with a group and although service started out on the slow side, we were all very pleased with the experience by the end.

This Pho restaurant is one of my favs to visit anytime I'm in Spokane. The food is pretty consistent and it's good. Definitely one of the better pho places in all of WA. I like the huge portion of food they give you. It's perfect and great for the money spent. My vermicelli noodle was cooked to perfection on my last visit. Loved it! I am definitely a fan.

Yup, as good as it gets...in Wash State that is! I have only lived up here for a couple of weeks and already, I have been to Pho Van three times. Every time I am impressed with their nice service and great food. It takes me an hour and a half to drive to the restaurant but I dont mind! It is definitely worth the trip. Next time I go, I am going to work up the courage to order something besides the pho (but its sooooo hard to resist!) The beef stew looked mighty delicious! And I also tried the egg rolls and spring rolls. Yummy! I dont think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. So enjoy!

This place is probably your best bet for pho in Spokane. It is also exceptionally clean and the service is great. I always order pho tai--the broth is really flavorful and the beef is lean and tender. The fresh rolls are a healthy and tasty alternative to the fried rolls, so give those a try if you want to save some calories.

I'm sorry to have to write a lukewarm review on this place, but it is based on my recent experience here. Although the server was friendly and welcoming, he also gave me old spring rolls within a couple minutes of me ordering them, which definitely made me suspicious. My suspicions were confirmed when I touched the wrapper and it was very crispy and dry. NOT what you're looking for in a fresh spring roll. I sent it back and he acted surprised that I wouldn't want to eat an old spring roll. I had also ordered a small bowl of pho. The beef broth tasted a little different than I'm used to, but it grew on me after several tastes. Although the bean sprouts and jalapeno slices were fresh, the sprig of basil they gave me was wilted. Maybe it was an off night. I did like the interior, but I prefer quality food over quality decor.

I love pho. This place rocks. Friendly service, reasonable price, and the pho is awesome. I haven't tried anything else here yet but I will update as soon as I do. Pho-bulous!

Oh man! This place is great! I love it! its cute, relaxed...and the food is amazing! Its not like SUPER DUPER decorated out, but they gave it a good shot. atleast they are trying to bring ambiance! The crispy egg rolls are a great start (just like Pho Spokane had *tear*) and I have had the Pho and the #23. I usually dont have anything other than Pho at places like this, but SHIT that fried noodle thing with shrimp, steak and pork was GOOOOOOODD! I ate waaay too much and couldn't stop eating. it was THAT good. wonderful. Best Pho place in town currently that I have tried. and I'm a PwHOre.

Decided to give Pho Van a shot after reading the positive yelp reviews. I was not disappointed. I love the decor--very clean, modern and inviting. Great service and great pho. I could still taste the mint leaves in my yummy broth... mmmm. Would come back most definitely.

I went here (the Division location) with my husband and mom, we came in and were seated promptly.....then the waiting game began.....we waited....and waited...and another couple came in....ordered...got their food...and we waited to still be seen by the waitress. Finally after about 25 minutes, one of the gentlemen cleaning the tables yelled for the waitress and she promptly came over, but I'm pretty sure he heard us looking up and talking about other restaurants in the area. After she came our food came out quickly and way delicious. I had the basic Pho, my mom had the beef with meatball and my husband got the beef with tendons. We also had the garden rolls. They we very tasty, but the hoisen/peanut butter sauce had a bit too much peanut butter for my taste, but was still yummy. We also really enjoyed that they had fish sauce on the table so we didn't need to ask for it. So, our lunch was delicious, but then the waiting game started again for us to get to-go containers. Grrrrrrrr. All in all, we might go again.....but only because we love Pho.

I'd say it was pretty good. I went today with some friends for lunch. It seems very popular which to me is a good sign. I had beef pho with egg rolls. Egg rolls were super good. The pho had something sweet in it that I wasn't too fond of. It wasn't overly strong or anything, but for me , I just didn't care for it.. Aside from that I would return to try some other dishes.

Great pho! I come here every time I'm in Spokane. The portions are beyond generous, the price is beyond reasonable. They have other food, but I've never wanted or needed anything beyond the pho.

Came here for lunch and had the roasted duck noodle soup-PERFECT for a cold, wet day in Spokane, especially when you're sick. The bowls are huge, with fantastic flavor! The duck is tender and tasty, the broth is sweet-savory, and the veggies are crisp-tender. So much deliciousness for one bowl! My hubby had the chili chicken, and I snagged a bite--also scrumptious! Waitstaff? Meh. And my son's lunch took a while to come out. Wasn't happy about that.

Really good, friendly and clean place. I'm only in Spokane once or twice a year and this is a dependable, good place to get takeout Pho.

Pretty good... we go here often I usually get the vermicelli beef. And spring rolls of course. Sis had the chicken pho and mom had the new egg noodle soup with shrimp and pork. She said it was pretty good. Always get the fresh lemonade that's a must.

It's nice that you get your food quickly during dinner rush. Beef pho #4 is pretty good. Basic meatballs & steak strips with the rice noodles. Don't expect any real service whatsoever though; every time I've come here our water glasses are empty most of the meal. Best to bring your own water bottle ;)

I wish there is a zero star option! Such a horrible experience here! Very rude waitresses! Didn't have basic courtesy. We walked in and they didn't even say hello nor displayed welcome manner. Only asked us "two?" we said "yes" and they said " sit wherever you want!". We looked around there were many tables not cleaned up. When we finally found a decent spot, the waitress came over with two menus. Still no greetings or whatsoever. We looked through the menu. Nothing special. A little pricey compare to other restaurants. So we decided to take off. The waitress took back the menus from us with a stinky look.

The food is very good and the best pho in town. It's decorated nicely, updated, and clean unlike most if not all Vietnamese restaurants in the area. This is my go to place for pho...that's if I decide not to make it myself.

Not many options in Spokane, am here on business and was craving beef and potatoes (viet style) but settled for a restaurant with good items listed! This place is pretty decent, not too busy when I came in on a tuesday night, was able to sit anywhere, cute modern looking decor with some splashes of the usual asian pieces. I ordered spring rolls and the Bun thit nuong (rice noodles with grilled pork). The spring rolls came out literally right after the waitress left with my order, they were fresh and tasty. The Bun thit nuong came out pretty soon after, the bowl was HUGE. Noodles, fish sauce and meat were cooked perfectly and tasted great. Only complaint was that there were a lot of bean sprouts, which I am not a fan of and if I am back in town will remember to ask for without. Overall was able to get a quick meal and a very cheap price. I would come back again but might try the other spots I saw through Yelp! for vietnamese food as well.

We go here when we are visiting Spokane to get our pho fix since Pullman is completely deficient in anything remotely resembling good pho. I get Pho Ga every time and even though it's not Seattle quality pho it's good and I keep coming back. The broth is tasty and they give you lots of good pieces of white meat chicken. I always run out of noodles before I run out of chicken. They give you lots of basil and sprouts and jalapenos to put on your soup which is great. Good place to go if you are looking for good pho in Eastern Washington. If this place didn't exist I would never get my pho and have to wait for my visits to Seattle which don't happen very often.

Hands down best place for pho. Prices are very budget friendly. Inviting and relaxing dining environment. Quick, friendly service. Beautiful bathrooms. No low sodium soy sauce :( but overall experience more than makes up for that :D Pho Van is Pho-King-good ;)

Had lunch here with a collegue and ordered #2 small. Didn't expect to find a good Pho place in Spokane, but it was great! Great flavor, and meat/noodle was fresh! The spring roll was okay.

Pho Van is consistently the best in Spokane. Soup is piping hot, flavorful with fresh ingredients. It's definitely one of my favorite restaurants in town.

Ive been going to this establishment for about two years, the service has never been the best, but the food had always been pretty good. Today however, the soups came out and exibited an unusual odor. I began eating my soup and noticed some of the meat didnt taste right. My husband asked if my soup tastes ok because his smelled and tasted weird. When I examined my soup closer I noticed that some of the meat was much darker than the rest. They were clearly serving us is bad meat. When I brought this to their attention they were rude and said there is nothing they can do because their manager was in idaho. After 2 years we are never going here again. It made our stomachs turn so much I don't think we will be having pho for a long time, and we love pho. You can skip this one! Pho Saigon is the place to go!

Pho Van is a decent place for pho with clean surroundings, fancy ambiance and great service. Thumbs up for the big portions on their rice plates. The cha gio isn't authentic but more of a fried lumpia. I liked that my pho ga had a lot of tender chicken breast meat, but why is the pho broth sweet? :/ I guess a-okay for Spokane.

The food is very good and plenty-full at this establishment, it's the service you should be prepared for. So, First off the food is GREAT! The soups are huge and very popular, I'd suggest trying the Pho Gah or "Chicken noodle soup". They also have a spicy chicken curry that is one of their specialties and this is also very well done! I always leave this place with leftovers as their portions are very generous. Wait time is pretty quick as well. The only drawback to this restaurant is that most of the staff does not speak fluent English and therefor can be a little difficult to understand. Which is a small point, the bigger issue is that they have different standards for waitstaff culturally. They do not check on you often enough and you may have to wave one down if you need assistance. They can be a little allusive so don't be afraid to flag a server down if need be. Overall, Good food, lots of it, and pretty fast!

The servers were very friendly, but they were absent a lot. It felt like we were often searching for someone to give us more water, order rice, etc. I believe we asked someone bus'ing tables for menus. The broth was ok, but the ratio of the noodles to broth was way off. There was definitely too much noodles. The decor and atmosphere were nice, though.

I heard about this place because they do a lot of takeout! Decided to give it a try and it was delicious . Short ribs were cooked perfectly and rice was excellent. Service and atmosphere and restrooms were a 10. Would recommend and will be back again thank you.

We've been excited to try the Pho here for some time. Pho Van did not disappoint! I tried the Spicy Red Soup and my wife had the Roasted Duck Soup, both were amazing! The broth is the star here. I'm not sure how long it takes to develop the flavors, but they're very distinct. We're excited to come back and try more of the menu! The wait staff was great, service was quick and the prices are VERY reasonable.

Solid Pho location here in Spokane. I ordered the large steak Pho soup. The soup was very tasty and the veggies fresh and delicious. The staff was very friendly and never let my drink go empty. Great price

I have been going to pho van for over 10 years (back when they use to be on hamilton). They make the best pho around and I can't get enough of the special fried rice. It's light and flavorful and the prices here are very affordable. I always get great customer service and the venue is neat, clean and modern.

Had a business meeting in Spokane. Went to Pho Van for dinner on 2/26/15. My wife and I love pho. Since she wasn't there thought I would have something remind me of her. She went to our favorite pho restaurant in Eugene. Pho the good times bistro. we skyped each other while we had dinner. The pho was really good. The meat was not fatty. Good place to have dinner if you like pho. I would recommend it, the only issue was the waite was longer then expected.

Not the best Pho, but was solid for a last minute stop in Spokane. Spring rolls were good and staff was on point. I would need to try more items on the menu. Staff was friendly and attentive to our needs and food was overall tasty.

WHOA... First time in Spokane coming from a experienced Pho palate in the San Diego area, I hit the jackpot with this place. The meat was quality the noodles were perfect, the veggies were fresh and the table condiments didn't look as though they had been sitting out since opening... BUT most important the broth, oh the broth... So well combined with flavors not overly salty or desperately bland. To put it simply: the broth stands alone...

My boyfriend and I were on our way back to Oregon from Shambhala and were craving Pho, so we checked Yelp for a decent spot to stop in Spokane. We ordered the #2 (Pho with 2 kinds of beef) and were very pleased! We shared a large bowl and it was just the right amount of food for two (and a steal for $9). He also ordered the Thai iced tea, which he though was good, but not the best. When we went to the register to pay, we told the cashier that we were just passing through on our way back to Oregon (we had about 6 more hours to go) and he offered us to-go cups of water for our trip. It's little things like that that make me a return customer. If we lived in the area, I would definitely go back :-)

Wonderful Pho-I've had a hard time finding a great Pho place in Spokane! I have only dined in once and the service was fast and on point (I was there mid day on a weekday). I generally call ahead to order take out-so easy! And only takes ten minutes before it is ready for pickup. Definitely recommend the #2 Pho, it's amazing.

We've been several times and it is consistently fantastic. By far the best pho we've had in Spokane and we've been nearly everywhere. The ambiance is much nicer than most other pho restaurants. We went in around Christmas and the owners gave patrons a small gift thanking them for their business...a memorable touch.

After spending some quality time with my mom at Deaconess awaiting for her scheduled surgery this coming Tuesday, I gave this place a shot, from the many reviews they had. Lets just say i came there three times in one week. We ordered the #11 combo which consisted of Beef ribs/pork/fried egg over rice with their flavorful side sauce three times. What prevented them from getting 5 stars was the fact that they did not have Thai Iced Tea on one of the visits. The location is kinda bad on Division with the median so getting in and out depending on which way your heading can be a nuisance at times Price is really cheap and affordable. Portions are overwhelming and very pleasing to the eye and tummy If you want authentic asian cuisine thats not too burdensome on the wallet definitely give them a shot

3 stars for food I've had better pho, but spokanes diversity isn't the greatest. As for the cleanliness of this place, not so sure. At first I thought so, but after many times of frequenting this joint I realized the tables always had this greasy film. One day as I was waiting for my food, I watched one of the guys cleaning the tables. After clearing everything off the table he grabbed his towel, dumped a left over glass of water on the table and proceeded to wipe the table down... That was it and on to the next one. I would hate to see how the kitchen is maintained, and for my own health I most likely won't be going back.

Yum..pho tai nam, all up in my face. There aren't many Pho spots to choose from in Spokane. This ones is the nicest looking inside and out, has the most consistent quality and decent pricing. The service has been known to lag a bit, especially if you order a specialty beverage. Overall good stuff...get you some.

Been here twice now. Great food! Got it super fast and very reasonable! We've gotten the pho with beef, shrimp and now with chicken all delicious! Great place to bring out of town friends or stop by for early dinner. Super soup!

Absolutely love this place. This was my main go to restaurant during college. Their lemon grass beef was my ultimate favorite. A huge portion of steamed jasmine rice with perfectly tender thin cut lemon grass beef, lemony, slightly sweet and spicy with grilled onions. It was amazing and you always got a lot of food for the money. Their Pho was pretty good but I was always craving the beef. My friend always got the ribs and sometimes we got their chinese food too, which was pretty good, a little on the greasy side but still tasty.

  • Bridget B.

I'm biased because my family has several spectacular central Vietnamese cooks... But this place was bland, bland, bland! I couldn't believe for starters how a sit down restaurant could have such an abbreviated menu! It's about two pages long (for the Vietnamese) plus a half page of Chinese fare. Basically pho, fried rice and half dozen random other dishes, nothing to write home about. (And they use really wide noodles in their pho, not my preference, more bland!!) Also they don't take your money at the table, and didn't bother to tell us that as we are sitting there forever waiting for our check to never come. Unless I'm desperate for bland pho and bad service I will not be coming back. Sadly I'm not able to say anyone else does any better w the Vietnamese fare but you'll certainly have more fun if you eat at Ming Wah :)

I love this pho place. The flavor of the broth is spot on, and the prices are right where I like them. Their fresh spring rolls are made perfectly and the peanut dipping sauce is amazing. Customer service is great... definitely on my top list of favorite places to eat.

I haven't Yelped in a LONG while, but this pho place made me want to hop right back on, because of how great it is and get everyone to come here. I had my doubts too... why am I going all the way to Spokane, and end up having pho? Especially since I live near the pho capital of the non-Vietnam world. Here's the rundown... deeply flavorful broth, fresh perfect noodles, generous meat portions (including great tendon!), all the proper sauces available, plenty of garnishes. All in a nicely decored, clean restaurant. Seriously, take it from a self-appointed expert... people of Spokane, you have something great here! If this place had opened in Little Saigon, it would definitely survive.

Alrighty. Let me break this review down from 2 perspectives. One as a broke ass college student, and the other as a Vietnamese person. As a broke ass college student, I recommend this place for people who've never had pho before. I came here, not expecting a whole lot (Pho is kinda the same once you've had it so many times), but I enjoyed it. Which rarely happens, since I have high expectations for Pho. Obviously it's never as good as how your mom makes it, and it never will be, but it was the 2nd best thing to what my mom makes. (Inner Vietnamese coming out of me). However, back to the review. I enjoyed it, the service was quick (For making Pho at least), and the environment was comfy. So that is my review for Pho Van. (No, I wasn't paid, nor do I work for them). I'm a broke college transfer, and I had a stellar fucking time at Pho Van. Ya'll should go.

To some degree, I think one has to make pho at home to truly appreciate what a treasure it is to have this labor-of-love available in fifteen minutes, especially with such generous portions. Pho Van does it perfectly-their flavors are intricate and delicate, the ultimate in comfort foods. I can't really speak for the service because I always order take-out, but I've never had to wait more than a few seconds to be helped. BTW: ordering your pho to go means everything is separate and doesn't get soggy on the way home, I love this!

  • Amanda N.

I've tried two other pho places and this is the best I've had so far. I was a little hesitant to come here because of the mixed reviews it had here. I came here with a friend and I got the Pho Dac Biet. This is usually what I get when I try a new pho place for the first time. I wasn't disappointed at all. I got the small bowl and there was plenty of noodles, meat, and broth in it. I will definitely come back here to try other dishes on the menu. My dad makes pho for me on a regular basis and of course, nothing beats my dad's cooking. However, if I miss home, I will know where to go.

I stopped by to eat Bun Bo Hue while on trip to Spokane. The staff is very friendly. Setting is modern with soft music in background. Their portion of food is generous for the price. Good deal. The flavor is dialed down a bit so not as strong as you would expect from authentic Vietnamese. Still is it pretty decent. Their Thai ice tea is not as good though.

I know I'm not in LA anymore... so for Spokane, this will have to do. Albeit tis my first pho experience in land of few asians, I was quite impressed with a few things.... 1) easy parking 2) big portions 3) great service 4) nice ambiance and the taste... was okay. Not what I'm used to in LA, but not entirely bad for just some cold pho experience. I had the dried pho with the fish sauce poured over it with beef and egg rolls (very different than the ones in LA that are deep fried and wrapped in green lettuce), my husband had the rice dish which was also not so bad, and let's just say I'll be back to see how the hot soup pho is... winter time maybe...! Yes - I'll be back and I am indeed a fan. Always a plus when the workers are Asian too.

I love this place. The food is EXCELLENT. The best Spring rolls in Spokane. It is very clean and has sophisticated décor. I don't care so much about the interior as I do about the food--and everything I have ever had here has been top notch. I recently had the #16, which is a marinated beef of some kind, served with a chilled cucumber salad and vermicelli noodles. The serve it with a vinegar sauce on the side, and you pour it over the entrée. IT WAS AMAZING. Sort of like a salad. The portions are huge, so if you order the Pho try going with the small instead of regular size. The service was mediocre, they typically don't stick around or check on you after you are served and you have to go up to the counter and ask for to-go containers and to pay your bill. They have big soup containers for your Pho, which is nice to know if you get take-out. I wish they would get a liquor license so I could have a cold glass of beer or wine with dinner.

Was visiting Spokane and read positive reviews about this place! My allergies were killing me so I figured a nice bowl of pho would help. Pho Van is very nice inside, had a simple and clean contemporary setting. Also decent selection on the menu with vermicelli dishes, pho and come Chinese options (chow mein, rice plates, etc). Prices here are higher than I'm used to paying at a normal pho place in California but still reasonable (about $7-$10 per dish). The Pho Ga was delicious, noodles were cooked perfectly and the broth was savory. Would definitely recommend if you are craving pho while in the area! Pretty big restaurant so they can accommodate a large party also.

We have been coming here for about 8 years. Only place for pho in Spokane in our opinion. The broth is complex with a slight licorice undertone. The duck soup is very tasty as well. #11 Pork spare ribs and beef is excellent. It is accompanied by the tastiest shrimp and an over easy fried egg. Make sure to ask for a side of broth that they serve with it, they won't bring it out unless you ask for it. Spring rolls are also very refreshing and fresh. I don't recommend the chinese portion of the menu.

While on the hunt for the best Pho in Spokane, we were not disappointed by Pho Van. Being a restaurant on Division street, you kind of never know what you are going to get. The atmosphere was very nice, and calming. The Pho excellent. The broth is a little sweeter than the broth at other places like Vien Dong. Which is ok with me because I like the taste of the anise. I had the Pho Tai, and really enjoyed it. My daughter had a beef noddle dish. It was on the greasy side, so not the best.

Spokane is loaded with Pho places, most of them are OK, a few are poor and some are standouts. But if you move away from the Pho and into the Vietnamese cuisine then you really begin to see the difference. Pho Van is one of the better pho places, their broth has some good unami to it although you may have to insist on getting a good vegetable selection if you are not Vietnamese. (Not unusual in most metropolitan cities but not the norm in Spokane.) Their fresh rolls are very good, the peanut sauce is more Asian than the sweet American style that many people are used to. Their bun Cha is excellent (No offense but ignore other posters who don't know the correct names even if they appear ethnic) While their pho is one of the better ones in the area it is their entrees that really begin to show that they a excellent Vietnamese place. This is the best and most consistent Vietnamese place in Spokane.

Ok so after coming back here multiple times -- mainly because this is one of the only Pho joints in town, I wanted to give an update. The Pho has its good and bad days. Most of the time it's good, but there are days where it is just horrible. Pho can be more on the salty side most of the time. Do not get the Vermicelli with pork and egg rolls. It is just plain pathetic. The chefs need to taste this dish at other pho places as they do not even compare. But then again, where else can you go in Spokane right? Come here for the Pho or rice dishes only. Spring rolls at Vina are better. Service is also variable depending on who is working. There were a few times where we had to repeat MULTIPLE times just to get a straw or to go box. Sometimes they were rude. Being busy is not an excuse to treat customers like crap.

This so far is one of the best pho places we have found in Spokane. It is definitely on par with good Seattle pho places we used to enjoy. The spring rolls taste fresh and the peanut sauce is really good. The pho is very delicious and at a good price. I have also tried the stir fry dishes which are also tasty. The stir fry dishes are really big and I always tend to have left overs for lunch the next day. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because they can be pretty slow at times and can seem a little rude. But honestly, it is the same as the pho places in Seattle. They may seem rude but I think they just don't want to be too intrusive in the dining experience. We always love to come here for lunch, especially during cold weather days where all I can think about is some hot soup!

Great tasty yummy Thai food made by Thai owner! She knows her food. I've spent 8 months in Thailand & had the best. This ranks up there with the tastiest & is homemade curry (not store bought paste in can/packets). Great lunch specials for $8.95 too!!

  • Stephanie L.

I love pho. It is one of those foods that I missed when I moved from Seattle to Spokane. So, after looking up places, I stumbled upon this restaurant and decided to give it a shot. The food is decent. A large bowl is only about $8 plus tax. That is decent for the amount of food. I have two issues, however. The first is that the noodle soup tasted off, and I could see on the top sections that appeared to be kinda dark. Maybe it was from overcooking some ingredient, such as the chicken. I am not sure. But I could not finish the bowl. Not because of the size, but because of the taste. My second issue lies with the waitresses. There was a big party ahead of me, and they got served quickly. My server took about 5 minutes to get me a menu, and another 5 in asking me what I wanted. When I got the food, I was never approached to see if I was doing well, or if I needed a refill on my drink, or anything else. My server was more concerned with refilling the sriracha and soy sauce containers. She walked by my table twice, not to ask me how I was doing, but to take away the sriracha and soy sauce bottles so that she could marry them - right on plain sight of the lobby too, couldn't that be done in the back of the house? Overall it was a less than OK experience. The waitresses need to be reminded that while they do have clean up duties to attend to (I have worked food service for over 8 years, so I know all too well about this), they still need to take care of their customers.

  • Katrina F.

I have been going to pho van for over 10 years (back when they use to be on hamilton). They make the best pho around and I can't get enough of the special fried rice.

Stumbled upon this place and so glad we did. At 2 in the afternoon on a weekday, this place was full of diners. The service was great, the food tasty and abundant, good prices and tasteful decor. Recommend it.

My family and I go here every time we want Vietnamese food. Great taste, wonderful service! We never leave disappointed.

I just moved to Spokane from Seattle, and I have eaten a ton of Pho. I know what I like, and I know what I dont. But, this place was very good. The pho was flavorful, instead of that bland, simple taste some places have. I am all about value, and there was more meat in my small #8 than i have ever got before, and it was not overcooked, My only complaint was that the spring rolls were not as good as some I have had. But I will return for sure.
