Twice now I've sailed into Ginger less than an hour before they close on a weeknight and ordered up a table-full of sushi. The staff wait on me graciously and I've never felt rushed. The portions are deliciously large and while I am tempted to lick the plate the restaurant is very intimate and I don't want to upset my fellow diners that are sitting elbow-to-elbow with me so I refrain. Personal favorites from the sushi menu include the Alaska and Fresh rolls because I could eat raw salmon morning, noon, and night. Don't leave without trying the Bruce Lee as well. The chili sauce and spicy aioli on that roll have just enough kick to make my eyes water the teensiest bit and for extra points you can always dab on some more wasabi. To finish off the evening a pot of green tea and some nigiri are always perfection. I haven't strayed from the sushi offerings because I can't tear myself away so you'll have to brave the rest of the menu on your own and report back in your own review. Unlike other reviewers every time I have dined here the space has been nothing but clean and well staffed. I haven't experience slow service but I don't go during the normal dinner hour so perhaps that is why. The bathrooms and windows and entire restaurant have always been sparkling..tables clean and linens pressed. It is always all that I could ask for in a lovely dining experience.

Today we had the Ginger Chicken lunch special. This came with Egg Flower soup and rice. This was delicious!!!!!! We also tried the Bruce Lee roll, this one was great and spicy, defiantly will have this again!! The Pearl roll was good but not something we would order again.

The egg flower was great and so was the sushi. we got the bonsai roll, volcano roll and the crunchy spicy tuna roll which were all fantastic. Just the right amount of heat with the volcano and the crunchy spicy tuna and the bonsai was warm and soft and so savory. The only reason for a 4 star is the fact that the waitress wasn't the nicest and there was no music playing and it was a little weird eating without some sort of background music. But everything else was superb

Worst and most expensive tea ever that we expect a real Japanese tea from a Japanese restaurant 2$ a person for taste like boiled water and the service was so bad too..

At first it was a typically busy Saturday night, orders where behind but we where given an appetizer for the wait and the food came at different times. Window to table was executed but they did get hit hard there in the first hour we where there. Server was timely and very nice. Love this place but wish there was a localized location up north.

Ginger is the best Sushi in town in my opinion. The Alaskan roll is my all time favorite. I would love to give Ginger five stars but the staff could be a little more friendly. Slow water refills and no smiles. Sad. I really did want to give Ginger five stars.

The sushi is ok, but not the best in Spokane by far. Best sushi is sushi Yama. This place is cheaper and has a nice atmosphere. It's also convenient to get to. The non-sushi is not good. I feel kind of bad saying that because they are nice. But I feel like the owner is skimping on quality and the staff seems to lack morale. Does this all stem from ownership not being present enough and takin enough pride in the food, or am I just being too hard? Certainly I've gone back enough times to warrant being a critic. I don't think I can handle too many more chances here. At least not with the non-sushi fare, then again... Why not pay a few dollars extra for the superior sushi Yama. And really I'm just being nice. Food is actually so gross as I sit here unable to finish it that I felt compelled to update this review. The rice bowl at jack in the box is better then their beef and broccoli. Literally can't chew or finish this.

If you like sushi covered in eel sauce, on almost every roll you order than this is your place but if you like your fish to speak for itself than definitely skip this place.

If I could I would write a worst review if I could. Angelique the manager had so much attitude and think it is ok to make this sushi place look bad since the owners are in China !! She never checked in on us, we waited an hour before we got our food. Her excuse was that it was the Chiefs fault.... No if they are busy then tell your table it may be a wait instead of just avoiding our table. We have eaten here more than 5 times and never had this issue. Also don't talk about us when we are sitting in hearing range ! Very Unprofessional and show lacks of management skills.

Really good sushi! Friendly sushi chefs! Don't expect to get in with more than the usual 4 people though. They couldn't take our group of 6 and a child because they had reservations coming in.

Amazing, best sushi place I ever been too. Washington roll is ridiculously delicious. Love their miso soup.

  • Ella H.

I guess depends on what you are having. I didn't have sushimi there, but rolls are pretty good. Service was good, even got my order right. With soy paper. Only not sure why would Japanese restaurant have a huge picture of Chinese communist Mao Zedong and Bruce Lee. Didn't look good to me.

Met here with a friend on a Thursday night and ti was pretty busy! Small atmosphere but food was delicious! Our server wasn't the friendliest and a little pushy with getting us to order, pay and leave. But other people who worked there were outwardly friendly to us, so she must have been having a night. Either way, I'm coming back :-)

Love this place. Good service, great food. Try the Heart Attack...delicious!

  • Michelle G.

Love the sushi here. Highly recommend visiting during either the lunch or dinner happy hour for great prices and just the right amount of food to try a little of everything. Can be cramped inside, but they have nice outside seating when, its nice out. Staff is nice, but can be stressed when its super busy. Nice spot in south hill with decent food and amazing sushi.

I was brought here for a work lunch where we did family style dining. Overall I enjoyed the meal - we had a few of the larger sushi rolls (Las Vegas and Bruce Lee) that were great, but what stayed with me was the General Tsao's chicken. I normally dislike anything battered, friend, and covered in sauce because it gets soggy. However! The General Tsao's chicken came out hot, fresh, and with a great crunch to it. And the sauce was fantastic! Not too spicy (which is what I normally associate with this dish). Lastly, we got the dinner portion at lunch time and it was huge! Piled up nice and high and came with a side of rice. The service was friendly, but the interior was...cozy. They accommodated our large group (6 people), but they don't have a lot of seating so beware if you are coming during busy hour or with a lot of people.

The sushi was fresh and there was lots of delicious choices. The restaurant is clean and nice but is a little small on a Friday night. But with sushi and service that good it is a must. Do not go on weekend evenings it is such a tiny place that is packed with no parking.

    (4)
  • Kelly H.

Every time I've been here, I ask myself why? It might be because of the Monkey Balls, which they took off the menu but you can still request them. It's definently not the service, and the place is tiny! I'm not even going to there about the parking situation, it right off of a busy street and there literally only 10 parking spaces. So yes, the monkey balls are probably it.

  • Delfin A.

The Miso soup was delicious! The Atlantic Salmon was so good! I could hardly keep mysel from eating some of my friend's General Tso's chicken. I like that it was not too sweet! Perfect. I'll definetively be back. Parking can be a challenge, though...

Ginger is one of my favorite restaurants in Spokane. The rolls are always tasty and consistent every time. I always start off w some ginger dumplings and the mucho spicy 007 roll. There are lots of option for every palate, but perfect for someone who likes heat. The presentations are beautiful and artistic. The rolls are made to order and come out quickly. The restaurant itself is small but well worth the wait if full. I recommend making a reservation if you plan to go on a weekend for dinner because it gets very busy... For good reason- it is delicious! I have tried at least 20 menu items by now and haven't found one I didn't enjoy.

  • Aaron R.

Pros: Amazing Sushi, probably the best in town. Tom is a genius. They carried over 90% of the Ding How menu from their Liberty Lake location. Nice decor and atmosphere The CrabCheese Won Tons...best I've had in 15 states. Cons: Service can be a tad slow at times, and the place gets uber packed often. Parking lot is a disaster. The amazing Won Tons are almost twice as expensive as they are at their other location. No Sesame Chicken? Epic fail after having the best in town at Ding How. Conclusion: Eat here FOOL!

  • Yoko R.

Very expensive- not for a family with teenagers! My husband and I had to share a small $17 bento box. Sushi rolls were very pretty but $15 a roll average.

    (1)
  • Eliza P.

Best cashew chicken I'd ever had. Waiting for a table totally worth it. The staff is nice, for those who love sushi its even more amazing, my family has rave reviews about the sushi. The place is small, so I recommend reservations for dinner

  • Devon G.

Ginger wasn't as good to me the second time around. However, my sushi was good and reasonably priced. The Hot and Sour soup is okay. That all being said, the service was good and I would definitely go back.

  • Diana A.

This is my favorite sushi joint in Spokane. I've been to Sushiyama, Raw, Ichiban Sushi Lounge, and Sushi.Com, and none of them compare. The rolls are hearty, fresh, and really tasty. It's a good idea to make reservations for groups larger than 4 as both times we've gone with groups of 5 or 6 we've had to wait close to an hour. The wait staff are great and the amount of time for food to come out is very reasonable. The decor could be a little better, but I don't go there for decor, I go for yummy sushi!

Are they still in business? Tried to order takeout tonight but their phone number was not working!

  • Jason N.

I've only been here once, so I can't speak to how consistent it is, but so far I'm impressed. It's not cheap (expect at least $50 for two), but really, buying cheap sushi is never a good idea. I like the atmosphere: contemporary, airy, bright, yet a bit cramped. Parking seems nonexistent, but we just walk there from Manito, so this is not a problem. I'd definitely go back.

Super tasty sushi, I recommend getting the $50 platter, it's worth it.

  • S. C.

Really not a good experience. The bathrooms were really dirty, the windows in the restaurant were dirty, the 2 sushi chefs were watching something on their cell phone and leaning on the counter eating something that looked kind of like a breadstick. Waiter brought the egg drop soup rather quickly, but the food we ordered took a while. I had the bento box with beef teriyaki and my wife ordered the chicken chow mein. The beef came absolutely drowned in teriyaki sauce. Unfortunately, the sauce had been scorched and gave the dish a very unpleasant burnt flavor. The tempura shrimp and vegetables were ok, but the dipping sauce was tasteless, The Potstickers had been deep fried, and tasted like they probably came from a bag. The edamame were tasteless, so salt, no seasoning, nothing. My wife took one bite of her chow mein and it was scorched as well. We told the waiter who took it back and said he would take it off the bill, but didn't offer her anything else, didn't offer her a menu, nothing! So she shared mine, we paid the bill and went somewhere else for dessert. We actually made a special trip to eat here because we had heard so many good things about the restaurant. Too bad we wasted our time and gas.

After trying this place, and really hoping to like it...it just seems to disappoint. The sushi is pretty boring, and the service pretty bad. The chefs there are the first thing you see when you walk in, but they don't even greet you or even acknowledge you. Sushi is not a cheap meal. It might be nice to get what you pay for.

Visiting from California ; ended up here by chance. Food and service were. excellent! Especially loved the Dynamite rolls.

    (5)
  • Toni S.

Excellent miso soup-and miso soup doesn't usually really matter to me. The green salad was huge-you can share it. Dynamite roll excellent, sushi nigiri very fresh.plum wine was my favorite brand-added bonus! Thanks for the recommendation, Laura from nordstroms!!

  • Sophronia S.

The rolls are good, but man, I just ate the Pad Thai noodles - not so hot. I got it with shrimp and veggies. It was pretty flavorless. The noodles were dry and seemed undercooked (more than al dente). My lemon wedge still had the sticker on it; so did they wash it before or not? Pretty unsatisfactory. Stick with the rolls people. What a bummer. Had to throw away a whole bunch of food today. I've also ordered the lemon chicken before. Another let down. Seemed like a breaded chicken patty with sweet and sour sauce on it. Very cafeteria.

Pros: Big pieces of sushi and the look is fairly clean. Cons: The sushi is usually more rice and cream cheese than fish or anything else. It's also fairly expensive as we had 2 rolls or 12 pieces for 26 bucks! Left hungry and mostly filled up on rice and cream cheese. The service was also fairly bad as the waitress sat around talking with her friends and it took us quite a while before we even got our food. Not terrible food but so expensive for what you get. Overall: Probably a better idea to go somewhere else.

First, I would like to start off by saying that this is NOT a good review. While the sushi is very good and their sushi chef Jack is nothing but amazing, their service is absolutely appalling! First off, this is very tiny restaurant with about 12 tables cramped into a small space, run by 6 crappy servers. As you walk in, you are immediately in the way of frantic and rather rude servers rushing about. On one visit, we had to wait to be seated (nothing out of the ordinary yet) and then wait about 12-15 minutes for anyone to even look in our direction. At one point I finally got fed up and stared a server down until she came to ask if we needed anything. I said yes....we haven't met out server yet. She apologized and said she would send someone. 5 minutes later, after we visibly watched 3 servers argue over who was gonna help us, a small girl came over for our drink order. We didn't see her for another 15 minutes. I threatened my bf that I would walk out if I didn't get to eat soon. Finally, she brought our drinks and immediately tried to walk away from us. I said excuse me, but we are ready to order. She replied oh, just a minute and I'll be back. She then ushered in a party of 6 with another server and immediately took their drink and appetizer order. Most likely due to their mandatory gratuity for parties over 4 people. To cut to the chase, we waited another 20 minutes for our 2 sushi rolls and then another 15 after we asked for our check for it to finally appear. My advice is to not give this place your business. The visit I just described is a common occurrence and I will now only begrudgingly order carry out due to the respect and loyalty I have for Jack the sushi chef (who used to work at sushi.com ). Stay away, FAR AWAY.

After reading some of the negative reviews about Ginger's service my wife and I were some what skeptical about going for one of our rare date nights. We were presently surprised with both the service and the quality of sushi! We went during happy hour (3-5) and enjoyed three different rolls all reasonably priced and very tasty. We will return and recommend to friends!

Not bad for Spokane. Not great though. Did I mention that Spokane is not a town for foodies?

I gave it a two is because the service took a giant step back. Food is good, service sucks. Use to be great service. Not so much any more.

I like the open and airy feeling, and despite the huge picture of the odious and murderous Mao Tse Tung - Chairman Mao - who reigned over China with tyranny, and well known for blatant abuse of human rights, the joint has a cool vibe. I had the Szechuan beef which was an over cooked deteriorated mush, but the spicy ginger chicken was a masterpiece. The faux friendly service was adequate.

I had chow mein Ruth had vegan spicy ginger both were very, very good. Textured tofu in sauce, i would thought it was chicken. Great lunch menu large portions

I've gone there several times, and every time the service is good and the sushi is tasty, and is displayed nicely. Its hard to choose what to get honestly. I like the Washington roll, the Yellowstone roll personally. Can't wait to try more.

Been traveling to Spokane quite a bit for work - a local friend introduced me to Ginger because I was craving sushi. Pluses: * Bright, airy seating area. * Large portions of nigiri. * Attentive service/ Minuses: * I was disappointed in the maguro nigiri- it just tasted... off. * Seating is cramped. Don't come here expecting an intimate dinner. * Rolls were fairly tasty, but variety wasn't quite what I'm used to at home in Seattle. * Parking is a b****. I honestly don't know of any other sushi joints in Spokane, but I'd come back here to scratch my sushi itch on the east side of the mountains...

Asia is a large continent and I don't trust any restaurant that attempts to cook from every region. The specialty roll with the Alaskan fish, crab, etc is a disappointment. As one review already noted, it is unsound and will fall apart. You need spoon or fork to scoop it up. The Bento box is weak. The tempura shrimp was flavorless and the dumplings were sub-par. The beef teriyaki was OK, as was the Miso soup (I normally skip it!) Bottom line - I wouldn't go back.

*** A solid 3.5 star spot, maybe a 4? *** Very affordable prices ... $16 bento box: miso soup, CA roll, edamame, yellowtail sashimi 3pcs, and yellowtail collar 2pcs. The collar was superb, dumplings good, sushi and sashimi ok. I would ret'n here. *** Casual spot to satisfy your needs. ***

I've had good sushi in Seattle and San Francisco and I would say that this place is on par with most of those places. I went on a Sunday after noon when the place wasn't too busy so maybe my opinion of the place is a little bias. The place was very clean, the staff was inviting and efficient, and the food tasted great. We tried the firecracker prawns, bruce lee roll, and edamane. The jalepeno sauce tasted great with the prawns and the spinach. The bruce lee roll was great plain and didn't need soy or wasabi. The edamane was lightly salted and a great appetizer. I would definately come back to this place and recommend it to my friends.

Sushi = 4 stars (the Washington roll and Heart Attack are fantastic) Staff = 5 stars (the ones that have been there since the start are awesome) Customers = 2 stars I really enjoy the sushi and staff. What I don't enjoy on many occasions are the loud rude customers. It is a pretty small restaurant and it can get pretty loud in there. Often times I see no common courtesy from one table to the next from the noise level to personal space. And I've seen bad examples of human behavior in how customers treat the staff. On one occasion a server was given a stern talking to because they serve tea not coffee. Everyone should have to work food service or retail at some point so that they can learn how to treat others. If you ever wondered why those of us that live on the South hill get a bad wrap for their snobby behavior, just go here a few times and you will probably see it. I do not let the rude customers stop me, (its not always like that) I still eat here often and I recommend it to friends with ample warnings. The only reason I said 2 stars for the customers instead of 1 is because its not like I don't feel safe. Parking is a pain.

I really like this place, but you have to know what to order. Small restaurant, limited seating, but I love the atmosphere. Very trendy and modern looking. Make reservations for bigger parties (5+). There's a lot of options on the menu and every time I come back, I always make a list of dishes I want to try next time. I recommend staying away from the bento boxes. The teriyaki beef was chewy. Sauce was bland. The tempura does not come with tempura sauce so it was a little hard for me to eat. California rolls that come with it were average. I recommend the sushi plates or chinese entree dishes. They were average to above average. Prices may be high if on a budget but I believe it is quite reasonable. This is definitely one of the better sushi places in town. Hot and sour soup was mediocre.

Love this place, the Bistro and atmosphere are clean and modern. The food is off the charts. I have been to all of the Sushi places in town and on any given day this not only the best Sushi around but it is also the most unique and coolest little spots in Spokane. We sit at the bar and have a bite at least twice a month and have never been dissatisfied. The staff is great. Love the big graphics. Sushi Bruce Le Las Vegas Pearl Dishes Generals Chicken Scallops

We usually enjoy Gingers quite a bit. It's our go to place for inland sushi. However, our recent visit last night, we were a little disappointed. The tuna and yellowtail sashimi tasted fresh. We had asked about most current fish upon ordering. However, the raw fish on our 2 rolls seemed not so fresh. Perhaps they aren't getting the turn-around they need to keep the fish in constant rotation? Service was great, as were the Gingers salad and dumplings.

  • Alyssa J.

Wouldn't eat here for a nice date. Actually, wouldn't go back. The server seemed annoyed that we were there. I broke my chopstick trying to pick up some chicken and the sushi was grocery store quality. They wouldn't adjust anything to our liking (add siracha, jalapenos, and cream cheese to the california roll) which makes me think they had them pre-made. Maybe bought them from the grocery store on the way over?

  • Narnia P.

Service - horrible! When we arrived, had to stand around for 5+ minutes waiting just to be greeted. Had to attempt multiple times to flag server down just to order food. Server never inquired as to quality of food (and the food was bad - see below). We didn't get fortune cookies with the bill as other customers were getting. Food - the two chef specialty rolls were awful. One roll was structurally unsound and completely fell apart. Another roll just tasted bad.The tuna roll was fine. Wonton soup and dumplings were okay, but not great. Seating - too tight. People sitting next to us were packed in so tight, the waitress asked us to stand up so that the people sitting next to us could exit. It is unacceptable to have seating this tight. If you want to sit in the lap of the diners next to you, hear every piece of their conversation, and then stand up for them to come and go, this would be the place for you. Ambiance - way too loud. Have to shout at person across from you just to hear them. It was like being in a loud bar or night club. No fun. Conclusion: Quite possibly one of my least favorite dining moments at a restaurant. Sushi dot com is far superior.

Maybe OK for the area but for someone in LA, this place isnt very good. The white tuna we had was very good but the rest of the fish was not fresh or flavorful. I am VERY picky when it comes to sushi.

Don't have a party here, my sisters birthday dinner -- the check came and the waiter shared the "owners policy" of being unable to split the check, if its 8+ people. Are you kidding? 15 people in our party, $350 check...($50 gratituity slapped on, NOT earned tip either..made me sick such bad service got such a tip)..the service was VERY slow, some of the food wasn't hot when we got it...(it should have been) and they wouldn't seperate the meals by individual or by group. They sent us...ACROSS THE STREET TO THE ATM @ 7-11.. so we could each figure out our own dish cost and give cash to one person who could put the whole bill on his credit card. Inconvenient...rude...unexpected...and unbelievable. Just unheard of?!? The waiter said in a matter of fact way, "when you called to reserve a table you should have been told"...well guess what..NO!!!! Because who would tolerate that? Needless to say we were all livid. Tempted to walk out without paying since they didn't want to accept our payment like a regular restaurant. Wrong decision guys...15 of us will be spreading the word of the ridiculous "policy" and stubborn waiter who didn't warn us of something so crazy from the beginning. We won't be coming back either...think about it...you just lost a lot of potential customers and several existing ones. It soured the entire mood and ruined the celebration. Thanks Ginger, way to be top knotch...here's a good policy for you...THE PAYING CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT! I hope others read this and change where they're having their celebration..bring your hard-earned money elsewhere, please! Oh and icing on the cake-- a few of us ended up vomitting up our expensive dinner...yay Ginger!

The only negative I give this place is parking. It's hard to find. We just parked in Baskin Robbins' spot and grabbed a bite of dessert after to make it legit :) Wow Ginger! This is defintiely an Asian Bistro. I cannot call it Chinese or Japanese. It is a delicious fusion of Asian flavors that actually successfully pulls off original dishes! My companion and I decided that since we were trying this place for the first time, we would grab a turf appetizer, a classic role, a specialty roll, and a sashimi combo. We were NOT dissappointed! We started with the dumplings, I think maybe Shanghai? These were SO good! The wrappings were tender, the filling was savory, and the sauce was fantastic. This is the closest I have found to dim sum in Spokane. You must get 5 because I remember us having to play the polite "No, you take it" game over the last one. Neither of us really wanted to give it up... Then came the spicy tuna roll. It's a spicy tuna roll. Well done, decent kick of spice. Basic and tasty, just as it should be. What made it good was the filling to rice ration. This was not a thin roll. Nor was it too big to fit in your mouth with one bite. Also, the rice was cooked very well, not too mushy, but still sticky and soft. The server gave us both miso soup. It was great. I feel some places water down their miso, but not here. I wish there was more tofu bits and maybe some more seaweed. However, I do respect that this is Spokane and that may not be everyone's request. If I am ever feeling under the weather, I will come here for rice and miso. Then came our sashimi. I wish I knew what the chef put in there. We had some crazy white fish that was like...like...well I just don't know! It was tender and thick, and almost buttery. I'd say it was butter fish, but I've never had butter fish sashimi so I just don't know. There was also some other fish on there that was my favorite. I'm guessing it was a variation of tuna, but I really don't know. My partner in crime was sweet enough to give me the last piece. That won him a lot of brownie points, and even gave me cause to cut my savory morsel into two so that we could share it. Every piece was cut well, fresh, and delicious! Finally, we received our specialty roll. We got the Bonzai roll. It was SO good! It was something like a crab cake sushi roll with a far superior eel sauce drizzled on top. This is by far the best sushi I've had in Spokane, and just really good sushi in general. Every dish was excellent, but next time we need to contain ourselves. Our bill came out to around $53 pre-tip, but we also left happy.

Excellent food excellent service. A beautiful summer evening on the patio with friends. Price was good for four of us 2 non drinkers lots of food and variety of rolls we shared. Alcohol always increases the bill a lot, I suggest having cocktails before heading over so you can spend your hard earned cash on the food at Ginger. It was very good and we will be back!

I have been here a few times with mixed results. The last time was this weekend. The entrance to the place is filthy. Looks like no one has swept or cleaned the front in a very long time, maybe never. Then the carpets are even worse. They are supposed to be blue - you can see spots of unworn carpet that are blue, however, the rest of the carpeting is black from filth. This just makes me wonder what is going on in the kitchen. I am not sure I would want to go back there. The food is pretty good, but rather pricey. The last two times I have eaten here I felt that I was sick for hours afterward. I wonder if they are using MSG or something else, but I am not convinced the ingredients are of good quality. This time I really couldn't enjoy the food all the while wondering how the kitchen was kept. The wait staff is also mixed. This time we had someone who couldn't answer any questions about the food, the ingredients, etc. Lastly, every time I have been (and I won't be going back anymore) it is so LOUD you can't hear your dinner/lunch companion. The acoustics are terrible. I originally thought people were just loud, but after having this experience every time, it is just that the room is small, it echoes and there is no way around it.

When I first moved to Spokane, I was hesitant to eat sushi because the ocean is far from this town. Plus, I wasn't sure how good it would be considering the minimum variety of Asian restaurants. When my friend and I pretentiously discussed the lack of choices of sushi in Spokane, and she told me about Ginger, how it's at a random spot next to Baskin Robins, but the sushi chefs are from Japan and it was authentic. Well, I wasn't disappointed. The salmon, which I always order was excellent! I judge the quality of salmon and venture out from there. The rolls were great, my friend's fave is Las Vegas and I liked the Washington roll. The only things is, I guess it's hard to survive as a sushi only place in Spokane so the menu is comprised of fusion Chinese and all kinds of non-Japanese dishes. I guess I don't really care as long as the sushi is good.

The spicy fish ginger style was fantastic as was the volcano, tiger's eye and Godzilla rolls!

This place is a hidden fusion gem on Spokan's South Hill. Great food all around, and wonderful atmosphere. Be aware it's good so you might have to wait for a seat in this cozy hideaway.

I am a fan of Ginger. Have been twice and have enjoyed it both times. I must have been there during the week or something because I have yet to have an issue with seating or parking. Prices seem pretty standard. My typical sushi experience usually consists of: seaweed salad, tempura, and a few rolls to share. A lot of good roll choices. I am not too picky about my fish, so I felt like all were quite delicious. Will continue to go here when in need of a sushi fix

I'd never try to pass as a sushi expert, but I can appreciate good sushi when I experience it. Its a favorite food of mine, and for years I've sampled sushi all over the USA as part of my business travels. Now that I'm living in Spokane, the hunt is on for a good sushi place! Ginger was recommended as a fun place to go, with good food, though the service could be slow - so we were advised to go early before it gets to busy. We were surprised to see Ginger so busy at 4:45pm when we arrived, but to our delight the service was excellent and our orders arrived accurately and in time. Our soups were great, and I have to recommend the wonton soup - hand made, touch of seaweed, and great broth - its great! The assorted sushi we ordered was very good - nice color, fresh, great appearance, and tasted good. The rainbow role and spice tuna roll (basics yes, but if they can't get those right, why bother with the fancier stuff?) - were very good. I was not impressed with the spider roll - which was not good - have had this several times elsewhere and was disappointed with what arrived at our table. Interestingly - we love hot wasabi - clear your head, hotter than heck wasabi - and the wasabi past we had a gingers was so mild we were adding 5-6 times the amount we'd normally add to our soy just to get a bit a flavor - not sure about that, but it took away from the sushi. The salmon roe sushi wasn't fresh and lacked flavor and the proper texture. Overall, my husband and I were favorable about gingers, we'd definately go back again - but will avoid a few of the things we sampled. Our service was great - very friendly, and a nice assortment to choose from on the menu.

I went here with my roommate and we got sushi only. He got the chef's choice plate which had a lot of beautiful Sashimi pieces, but when it came to the rolls he only got cucumber wrapped in rice, so it seemed that the effort was lost on the Chef's choice. My plate however, was delicious, I ordered the BBQ smoked salmon roll, and it was great. A bit heavy handed on the sauce for me, but a pretty presentation and a great flavor. We enjoyed our visit there all around, and would go back for sure

If not for suspect service I might give this place 5 stars... maybe: This is becoming my favorite spot for sushi in Spokane. Great variety of rolls and nigiri (I haven't tried the terriaki or other plates). The Washington Roll, spicy tuna, and the spicy heart attack (I'm spacing the actual name right now... it's the jalepeno roll) are great. While it may be easy to rack up a pretty big bill, you can also go there and spend $15 a head and have plenty of food. It is hard, though, as the specialty rolls are so good and offer such variety... it is hard to stop ordering them to stick to some of the standard... and lower priced... options. The down side... it is a small venue and tends to be packed. The result - on two of my four visits the service has been lacking. Items we ordered didn't get turned in, beverages forgotten, lack of water service, etc. One doesn't generally want the "appetizer" roll after the main rolls and nigiri have shown up and been finished. My suggestion - don't be as passive as I was and ask if something is missing.

If you are looking for flavor, and probably the most relaxing dining experience in Spokane, Ginger is definately the place to enjoy great sushi. Placed in the best area of Spokane (South Hill) the spot is hard to miss as it is on a busy road (right next to Baskin Robbins). Other than the great navigation skills needed to find the place the first time you pass it, this place is excellent. The jalapeno roll is sweet and spicy and the perfect beginning to a meal, just make sure you have a nice cold one next to you because they do have a kick. The schezuan beef was perfectly cooked and was exactly what I needed. The only problem I have when going out to sushi is I do not get too full unless I order rolls after rolls. So rather than just get full on the rice, the wife and I ordered a plate along with our rolls and we can't wait for family to get out here to show them this place. We love it long time!!

What an awsome restaurant. every now and than I visit spokane from Tri-Cities and my daughter introduce me to this wonderful restaurant Ginger Asian Bistro. Every time I am in Spokane I make point of eating at this restaurant. Good service and the food is out of this world. I wish they would open up in tri-cities

hm i've had better sushi for half the price at sushi.com ....i ordered tuna nigiri here the other day and it was starting to turn white. not very good for the price however the calamari is spot on. delicious calamari....the waiters are anti social and you can sense the tension between them. they were bickering with each other and one of the girls working was talking about how drunk she got the other night. the space is extremely claustrophobic and stuffy and people with sticks up their ass go here. i dont plan on returning id rather be comfortable.

sushi is great, and so is the staff. i will say though the restaurant is a bit small for so many tables... you feel a little cramp or i am just a little too hefty... either way i like my space. but i do give two thumbs up and truly enjoyed my rainbow sushi roll... i will say parking is a challenge and a bit cramped like their restaurant but if you can squeeze in either way you will enjoy you meal.

All the times I've been there have been great. Tom the sushi chef makes my daughter a special role because she is not a fan of fish. She's had steak, chicken, tofu and who knows what else and they have all tasted great. The down side to this place is that you can not show up here for dinner with a large group and expect to get a table right away. They get really busy. Call ahead and make a reservation. We show with 2-3 people and usually get a place fairly quickly. Maybe we've been lucky. Food=A++ Service= B Parking= B-

Sushi = good. Some of their rolls are original, and great presentation. Teriyaki - bad, unless you like super sweet sauce poured on it. This is not real Japanese teriyaki, folks! The spicy chicken (now we're to Chinese, maybe?) - can't recall what it is called, but it was so heavily flavored with ginger (so if you like ginger, go for it) that I could barely eat it. I love spicy and hot, but that was not the problem. It was oddly flavored, and gave me a stomachache. I even tried it again the next day for leftovers thinking maybe it was that day? No. Wasn't good. My other friend tried it as well, and didn't like it. So... the moral of the story is, stick with the sushi if you want anything somewhat authentic.

I think I need another visit here before I'm willing to give it 4 stars but it certainly has the potential. I had the spicy tuna roll, crunchy roll, and seaweed salad, all of which were good but not the best I've ever had. The only negative thing was that I was with one other friend and the only tables that were available were 4 tops and they reeeally didn't want us to get a table and wanted us to sit at the sushi bar near the door/cold outside instead. Weird.

Horrible service...had this experience three times with the wait staff...two women and one guy in particular.... Not friendly and cold personalities...I under and people have bad days but this happens every time we come here. Some people need to be replaced-they need to know they are replaceable! Their sushi is okay for the area-nothing great.

Came here on a tip from a co-worker. Only in town for a few days and had a sushi craving. Saw some of the less than stellar reviews but they were all service related. Sushi was really good. Not the best I have ever had but still really, really good. Rolls we're good sized and pretty. Good pricing. Service was outstanding. I will definitely go back when I'm in town again.

I was craving Sushi, looked up where to go on Yelp and Ginger is where we chose to go. Loved it! The miso soup was tasty and all my sushi rolls were very fresh and delicious. (The spicy tuna roll was SUPER spicy though, btw). The service was great, yet the location isn't the best. Good luck finding parking! It feels a bit crammed inside the restaurant too, but no complaints about the food. And isn't that what really matters? :) I'll be back again.

Went for dinner on a Sat. night. The appetizer of fried dumplings was good and the sushi and the rolls were good and siting out on the patio was nice. The service on the other hand was spotty at best. We were there with another couple and the server finally remembered to bring one of their rolls after the bill. The sushi came in small bits and all of mine came before anyone else had anything to eat. Some of the sushi order were wrong. They also did not have enough mackerel for 3 orders [2 pieces ea.] so the server brought 5 pieces said they ran out although the bill still reflected 3 orders. It would be nice having a neighborhood restaurant with good sushi but given the relatively high cost and poor service there is no reason not to go downtown to Sushi.com

As far as sushi goes, nothing beats Ginger in Spokane. Servers don't really know whats going on, but the sushi is worth the wait. Vegas Roll (get it spicy) is legit.

My first attempt at Spokane sushi since I moved here two years ago! Bravo, Ginger! It was all delicious, the décor was inviting and clean, and our server was feisty but nice. We REALLY enjoyed our dinner. Thank you!

Service wasn't that great, everyone seemed like they hated their job and my mother & I were not greeted when we came in. Very unwelcoming. However I did enjoy the food, their happy hour lunch specials are reasonably priced & come with a lot of food, I was surprised when I got my meal. I ordered the lemon chicken & Cali roll lunchbox. I chose the miso soup as the side & loved it! Cali roll was decent, however the lemon chicken wasn't what I expected- It was fried/crispy chicken covered in a type of sweet and sour sauce. Still tasty, just kind of basic. I noticed their plastic dinner plates were chipped and stained and didn't seem very clean. Bleck. Bottom line I would come back because their food was great tasting. I just wish they had a better & friendlier staff.

Great sushi place with good relaxed decor. Also serves other types of food like thai and chinese. I will definitely come back to this place which is tucked on the hill near the Medical Center in Spokane, WA. Staff is friendly and welcoming. I travel to Spokane for work and will definitely go back the next time I'm in town.

I was pleasantly surprised by this little place. I had low expectations upon arrival because of some of bad reviews, but I really liked it. Cute place, nice people, and the food is pretty good. I got a couple sushi rolls and Mongolian beef... Yum. This will be one of my new regular places.
