While the outside is unassuming, the inside is fully of tasty food and huge portions! Our favorites were the chicken teriyaki, Mongolian beef and gyoza platter. We ordered way too much, but the good news is we'll have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. We'll definitely be adding this restaurant to our go-to list for a quick take-out meal that has something for everyone in our family.

The food is really good, and the price isn't too crazy. The girl at the counter isn't the sweetest woman I've ever met, but I was there for the food not there to have a conversation about the weather. If I want some teriyaki that's near by I will totally stop here again.

Just ok. No pork, no lunch specials. I ordered beef teriyaki and it was ok. The beef came on skewers and was pretty chewy. I didn't eat most of the beef because it hurt my jaws from chewing so much and I had to work too hard to cut it up.

This place is great! Massive amounts of delicious food for very reasonable price. We ordered katsu bento and chicken-beef combo. Bento came PILED with food, and combo had very generous serving as well. Quality of food was also very good. Reminded me a lot of neighborhood mom-and-pop restaurant in an alley you'll find in Japan. Wish we had a place like this in our neighborhood.

Don't know if it's too hot or what. The soup is sour, salmon smells foul, beef is tough. Only good thing is the tempura....But I don't dare to try again, don't want to get food poisoning.

I love this place! One of the best teriyaki places in town! We eat here about once a week :) I can come in and order, and usually get our order within 5-10 minutes. The staff is nice, and you can have free tea when you come in and are waiting to pick up an order!

Hands Down Awesome Teriyaki! HUGE HUGE HUUUUGE PORTIONS! And so cheap, i would recommend this place to all my friends and strangers out there, this place rules.

Cozy traditional Japanese. Understated, little old couple, pop radio, free tea.

Ichi Bento isn't a five star restaurant when it comes to taste. It's your run of the mill American Japanese bento place. However it provides some of the quickest service I've come across in Seattle. All without lowering quality. I've been to this place many times and each time they have been consistent in taste, services and price. So if you your looking for a quick bite without the surprise of subpar quality then Ichi Bento is for you.

It's very good with lots of flavor portions seem a bit small! The decor is a bit bland and the place seems too hot & muggy in the summer months to dine or even stay and wait for your order. When you call in your order you can roll fast to any place especially Log Boom Park where the view is most excellent!

My daughter recommended Ichi Bento's for the teriyaki. She got the teriyaki, but I like yakisoba and ordered that along with a few pieces of gyoza. We also ordered chicken katsu to split. The yakisoba was excellent, as was the katsu. The gyoza had just the right amount of crispness -- not soggy and not overly crunchy. The service was prompt and polite. The interior was outdated but clean. I will definitely be coming back!

Very much a local joint. We stopped in on our way to a job at the airport in Bellingham from Seattle. My coworker noticed the Christmas icicles still draped on the eves and wondered what could be contained within. It's well off I5 so it's more than a quick stop but worth it, I think. The older lady and man servicing the counter and kitchen are cordial but austere like the couple in American Gothic. The interior belies the aging storefront: clean and neat. The menu is American Teriyaki: gyoza, egg rolls, tempura, udon, teriyaki, yakisoba, fried rice and a few sushi rolls. They have serve yourself drinks in a cooler, water, soda fountain or hot tea. We took a chicken teriyaki and shrimp fried rice (because other reviewers' pics looked so good) for less than $17. The served up the teriyaki quickly and the fried rice several minutes behind. I loved my rice! Plenty of shrimp, egg, vegetables including green beans and lima beans (interesting). Not salty or greasy at all. Just scrumptious and minimalist the way I like it! If this were close I'd come here often!

Wow!!! I think this is where Yelp let us down. We saw the great reviews and thought we would try a new sushi place. This place was disgusting. The service was terrible, the food was dismal. I hope that they turn it around, because this was the worst sushi that I have had. Wife ordered the salmon teriyaki bento, I ordered the teriyaki chicken bento and we couldn't find an item in the box that could be considered edible. Really dirty looking place, bad service, and terrible food. Try Chiso, O2 or virtually any other sushi restaurant, but skip this until they clean up their act.

Stopped by for a late lunch on a weekday afternoon. There was a sweet older lady at the register taking orders, running plates, handing over take out orders, and bussing tables. My husband ordered the katsu bento, my sister ordered the chicken breast teriyaki, and I had the spicy chicken teriyaki. The katsu bento came with plenty of chicken katsu, tempura, 4 california rolls, rice, salad, miso, and two kinds of sauces. My husband, who normally practically licks his plate clean, couldn't finish the bento box...so much food! The spicy chicken teriyaki was great with the perfect amount of heat. The interior of Ichi Bento is a bit out-of-date with lumpy booth seating, but it seems clean and has plenty of tables. Had to ask for chopsticks, though.

We ordered bento and it comes with tempura veggies, salad and rice. Every meal comes with miso soup. The serves was good. Everything was ddelicious.

Decent teriyaki joint. Pretty much has all the standard menu items you would expect from this type of place. The restaurant itself seemed to be clean and well organized and the service was friendly and welcoming. Not the greatest teriyaki meal I've ever eaten but it definitely served it's purpose.

I wanted a new place for teriyaki. A good yelp rating and close proximity to my home made Ichi Bento a good place to try. I hadn't seen the place before so I was looking for it as I drove. I was going slowly and it was a good thing as their sign wasn't lit. I momentarily thought they were closed. As I pulled into the lot, I saw the open sign. There was plenty of parking when arrived. The interior was charmingly out of date. The dining room was about 80% full. The lady taking orders thanked me for waiting although the wait in line wasn't bad. I was impressed. I ordered chicken and gyoza combo to go. The cost was typical for teriyaki (affordable). I sat down to wait. I noticed the bulletin board next to the door so I got up to check it out. Lots of business cards. The only thing that struck me was a big sign for an event that occurred 7 months prior. No harm but it's a pet peeve of mine to have outdated stuff posted. I sat back down but I didn't have to wait long. The food was ready quickly. The parking lot was full when I left so I guess I beat the rush. Arriving home, I was looking forward to eating. The salad was in a separate container which I really liked. Most teriyaki restaurants put the salad in the same container which makes the salad warm. An additionally benefit, the salad dressing was in a smaller container so I was in control of the amount I used. The dressing was tasty, too! The gyozas were good. A different flavor than I am used to eating but yummy. The rice was acceptable and cooked properly. The teriyaki sauce was a little weird. It had separated so first liquid poured out and then a lump of thick teriyaki pudding fell out. It was off putting but I smeared it around and hoped for the best. The teriyaki sauce was fine but a different flavor than I'm accustomed to eating but good. Chicken was moist and tasty. The portion was generous. I wasn't sure if I wanted to give the place 3 or 4 stars. I guess it really is a 3.5 in my book and so I rounded up.

Ichi Bento, old lady, you pissed me off. If you see my face you know who I am. I have been coming to your restaurant for over 8 years at least once a month!. a few months ago I stopped in 10 minutes exactly before closing time and patiently waited 10 minutes as you were busy running around packing up to go orders. You know I was there cause you made eye contact with me at least twice. I figured you would take care of the 3 other people there and take my usual order when you were done AND NOT LET ME STAND THERE FOR 10 MINUTES TO TELL ME OHH SORRY NO MO RICE CANT TAKE YO ORDER no rice?????? really?????? you pissed me off sooo much. you lost a longtime customer.

Delicious!! A lot of food in their $10 teriyaki bento box, and very fresh. It came with 8 pieces of teriyaki shrimp, a huge portion of tempura veggies/shrimp, a fresh salad, 4 pieces of California roll, and fluffy, warm white rice. Soda was $1.30; the service was fast and polite. Will be back!

I was ecstatic to find that there was a place that serves sushi a few blocks from me! So I gave it a try. The first thing that annoyed me is when the lady took my to go order at the register, my bill was $2 higher than what the prices actually reflect. I paid it anyways without saying anything about it because I didn't want to be petty. I asked for extra soy sauce but didn't specify how much extra ( I wanted about 5 packets altogether ) but when I got home, I was only give 2 extra soy sauce packets and the tempura shrimp was inside the broth of my udon soup. No big deal, but growing slightly annoyed. then I tasted the sushi which was dry. I chalked it up to maybe I caught her on an off day. Then I ordered a second and third time. Each time, my bill is a few bucks higher than I expect and the sushi is dry every single time. It's not horrible, but it's not the best. It's more like a last resort type thing. Don't bother asking for extra soy sauce packets because then there's an argument about how 1 extra packet is plenty and then I explain that I like a lot and she still will only give me one. I'll still continue to eat there, but it won't be any place id recommend to a friend

While the place is a little outdated and rundown - you will get your money's worth in a bento box! The portions are well worth the $9.50 pricetag, and will easily feed two hungry people.

I've been coming here for a long time. I used to always get the beef teriyaki which comes on skewers, but it has become too chewy for me, so I guess my taste buds have changed. The chicken teriyaki is okay, the sauce is on the thick side. I don't think that is a bad thing because it tastes good, but most teriyaki places don't have thick sauce, so this makes them stand out to me. What I've been doing lately is ordering california rolls and a side of gyoza. Both of those I think are great, and sometimes I like to dip the california rolls in the gyoza sauce! It actually gives the california rolls a nice, different sort of flavor. The girl who takes the orders at the front counter is so sweet and hard working! These are nice people who work here. I usually get the food to go, but sometimes I'll dine in if I'm doing something nearby.

This has to be our favorite for Teriyaki! I am not even sure how many times we've ordered take out from here but enough that I hold the current "dutches" rank! The staff is always friendly. Dad's in the kitchen, Mom rolls the sushi and their daughter runs the front of the house. We tend to order the Katsu, Shrimp Fried Rice and Kal-Bi. All of their dished come with a side salad and on occasion, they may run out of salad but kindly provide you with another serving of rice! The food has a close similarity to Ezogiku in Hawaii. Ichi Bento is especially nice on those days I crave Ezogiku's "shrimp fried rice". The katsu is my friends favorite. Crispy and plentiful! Last visit, we had so much katsu it had to have it's own container separate from the rice! Good for those days we are too lazy to make our own katsu! I especially like the Kal-bi because it reminds me of the Korean restaurants in Hawaii. All Ichi Bento would need is some Meat Jun and Kimchi! YUM! Oh how I miss the Korean food in Hawaii!!!

Great sized portions, pretty quick service, this is a great stand-by for Chinese-yaki fans. You really can't go wrong here.

  • Levi D.

I went here today for the first time just trying to find a good consistent teriyaki place close to my place. It was mediocre. I got the chicken & Katsu combo. The salad was a little wilted and very small. There was much more Katsu then teriyaki by half. Which usually is not a problem but the Katsu had a different after taste like they use something different then other places I have been. It was all just kinda blah nothing special. I admittedly only tried this and maybe they have a real gem on the menu like the spicy chicken, it seems that is what most of the pictures and reviews are. I will most likely try this place again it is really close to Safeway and the post office.

I think this place is great- it's an inexpensive and consistent in quality. The lady working the register isn't super friendly, but she doesn't have to be: the food is served up quickly and it's super tasty! I really enjoy the large portions of tempura and often get the salmon teriyaki. Sometimes I try the sushi- and while not the best, definitely not the worst around and satisfies the craving.

  • Scott U.

I found this place while passing through the Seattle area. I went for a couple rolls instead of the bento dish options; probably not the best choice at a bento take out place. I would not get the rolls, but everything else looked quite good. Don't sit in the booths unless you like to rest your chin on the table when you're eating.

  • Darien C.

Love this easy going spot with generous portions and great prices. My girlfriend and I always share a dish and it's plenty enough for 2. Their Katsu is very good and not pounded completely flat so that you get mostly breading, and their Yakisoba is fantastic. It's sometimes cold inside when dining there so bring a coat in winter and drink some free tea.

  • Nina H.

OK so I lied. I came back to Ichi Bento! This time, I was more impressed. I still did take out but the food tasted better for some reason. I drank some of the free green tea while we waited and it was hot and tasty. I didn't plan on eating too much from my boyfriend's teriyaki chicken bento, but I finished the salad, half the fried tempura and a few bites of his chicken. The salad dressing was so good? I was surprised! I also really enjoyed the tempura this time, the huge portions are very nice. It's close to my house so I will be back when I'm craving more bentos!

  • Sammie M.

Love the standard teriyaki chicken. I did try the Bento box and it comes with tons of food! :) Teriyaki chicken, rice, miso soup, california roll, salad and tempura veggies. I have to say I was not impressed with the tempura veggies. So other than that its a simple teriyaki stop with yummy food , simple seating ( has picknick tables out side) and its a Shoreline favorite.

YUMMY!!! I keep coming back! Parking: It's got a little lot next to it. Ambiance: Old. Nothing really matches. Most people get take out. Service: Fairly nice people - not terribly talkative. Food: Go for the katsu - it's the best and the portion sizes are huge. The chicken teriyaki is average, comes with iceberg lettuce salad with sweet mayo dressing. The beef teriyaki is a little tough. The yakisoba has a good mix of meat and veggies and has good flavor. My son likes the squeeze bottles of teriyaki sauce. California rolls are OK, not as good as most sushi places, but better than Costco. Recommendation: Great for a quick cheap bite, especially when uninspired to cook at home.

  • Tanya S.

HUGE take-out portions. I'm a sucker for a good deal and love getting the most bang to my buck. The whole take out box is filled with rice and three rows of chicken, decent quality. The spicy chicken is really just teriyaki chicken with an ample amount of chili garlic sauce on top, which I like so I don't mind. Good prices, free hot green tea inside, and nice service. Quality teriyaki place conveniently on 15th (and next to the post office).

    (4)
  • Anthony L.

Excellent for take out! Great chicken Katsu! Good portions and very consistent. Veggie yakisoba could use more veggies and less onion filler but all in all it's a good stop when you are too tired to cook and need something relatively healthy to feed the family.

As you may assume from the rather stereotypical Japanese name, the food here isn't going to be 100% authentic, Japanese teriyaki. However, don't let the name be a deterrence in choosing to eat here. The food: Portions are large (enough for two meals if you're one of those crazy caloric-limiting individuals), and the meat is grilled nicely and evenly (no cold pieces.) This applies to all the meat selections I've had (chicken, beef, even salmon.) Just a small side note, the salmon "fillet" that is served isn't exactly the freshest I've had, but it was definitely passable for a teriyaki establishment. The chicken-katsu breading is unique from other teriyaki places in that the breading isn't as crumbly nor crunchy, but fear not the taste/seasoning is still enjoyable; a good change-up. *One knock I have is the salad that is included along with the meal (however, this applies to almost ALL teriyaki restaurants), there are maybe 15 pieces of iceberg lettuce, and a minimal amount of dressing drizzled on top. Might as well not include it. Service: While I've never dined-in, the nice old Korean lady at the cash register is very attentive and makes sure you're comfortable while waiting for your food. From the few times I've been in, I've noticed that there might be only one or two people who are dining in, most customers opt for take-out. Food is always ready to go in under 10 minutes. Pricing is good for the amount of food you get, and as I mentioned above, the taste is above average. If one is looking for a place to get a decent amount of food for a good price, Ichi isn't a bad choice.

Huge Portions for under $10 I have only ordered the Bento Boxes. Normally either Chicken Katsu or Short Ribs Bento Box. Rice, various Vegetables, sushi rolls, shrimp, salad bowl and katsu/short rib is what is included in a bento. I just wish my short ribs were much fatter, meaning I need more meat on those tiny rib bones. I feel like the short ribs were especially ordered from a butcher shop to be sliced thinner than normal upon delivery. HUGE PORTIONS!! oh i said this already. Delicious Meal Every Time. Variety of vegetables from mushroom, green peas, green peppers, cauliflower, artichoke, and separate salad dish included that varies throughout the year. Small seating area for about 20 people max Cute oriental arrangement inside. Most pre-order to go. Many still sit during lunch hours from locals in the area Adequate parking and accessibility Melting Pot Customers Black White Asian Hispanic European Busy and stays Busy: Friendly Family Business Consistent Quality and Taste ( since 1993 for me ) Many Many Long Time Customers.

Chicken teriyaki was delicious and the portion size was very generous. Gyoza was delicious and my to go order was made super fast. Could have been a bit friendlier but I would still go back. My meal also came with a side salad.

A humble but clean resturant. Service is pretty good. The best part is the chicken katsu and teryaki chicken. Literally the best teryaki ive ever had in the northern seattle area. A great hole in the wall place. Price is very good for the taste of the food as well.

  • Iris K.

to the reviewer J S. I've been here many times every since high school and this is my favorite yaki joint in seattle. They have never used MSG because i asked the owner and i dont taste it. And also, before you start talking like you know teriyaki.....all teriyaki joints sell dark meat chicken when you order a "regular chicken teriyaki". if you want white meat you order a CHICKEN BREAST TERIYAKI. know your yaki before you order next time. to other yaki lovers. if you want the bang for your buck get these dishes: 1. Chicken & Katsu combo 2. Any of the Bento teriyaki's. comes with miso soup, salad, california rolls and your choice of meat. 3. Yakisoba w/your choice of meat. (if your looking for lots of vege's and noodles get this) other side notes: - the mom there is super nice. she makes the sushi rolls behind the counter and says hi and bye to me everytime i come in. she so sweet! - the dressing is home made and tastes excellent. WAY better than ranch, 1000 island, etc...

We absolutely love this restaurant. From the outside it doesn't look like much but the food is outstanding. We have tried a variety of their dishes including sushi, chicken teriyaki, tempura, yaki soba, and many more. The fried rice wasn't the best, but everything else has been great. There are not too many people dining in the restaurant since the take out is so popular, but I would recommend either to anyone!

Literally the best Teriyaki no one knows about. I live just blocks away and have been coming here ever since middle school. The food is cheap and amazing. The Teriyaki comes with a salad. I usually order my food to go. Yet that doesn't mean the inside is not nice. It is small and cozy but you get free tea and the food looks amazing presented on the plate. It's always the same older lady working there and I never catch her name. My two favorites are the Kung Pao Chicken (ask for it a little bit spicy) and the "Spicy" Chicken Teriyaki (siracha added on top). You won't be disappointed and most likely you will have left overs.

  • Amy C.

You'd think it would be impossible to screw up teriyaki and yet there have been several instances of subpar chicken and rice. However, ichi bento is my new favorite teriyaki place. I usually always get chicken breast and Gyoza and their Gyoza sauce and teriyaki sauce are amazing! The rice is always cooked well and overall the whole meal is fantastic.

    (5)
  • J S.

Avoid this place truly awful food and they use MSG, these 4 and 5 ratings must have eaten at some other restaurant. The chicken was all dark meat and had a strange taste as well the other items. I know good Bento, this isn't it.

The in one of the secrets in Shoreline. Been coming here for years and never have been disappointed. Great portions cooked to perfection. I've recommended this place to many people and everyone loved it. Order the 1/2 teriyaki 1/2 katsu that is the best of both worlds

  • Yvette C.

Oh, chicken fried rice. How I crave, yearn for you. I've been to so many Chinese restaurants seeking out the "perfect" fried rice and only one place came close - a Thai restaurant in the suburbs of Ft Worth, TX. This fried rice has come to rest at second place. What gets me is the amount of chicken. So much chicken! There's almost a piece for every bite. True, the rice features the typical frozen veggie fare, but what can you expect? It's been years since I've had Chinese Fried Rice with fresh veggies, so at this point I'm never surprised. It wasn't too greasy, the flavors weren't drowned in miscellaneous toppings, and it was quick & fresh. The only thing I'd change is the mix of veggies (peas, corn, green beans, lima beans [?], and carrots). I also ordered the veggie sushi (pregnant so I have to watch out for raw fish/fish of questionable nature). It was decent. The veggies were fresh, but not enough avocado and too much lettuce. I'll probably be going back. $11 for chicken fried rice and a veggie sushi roll makes this a keeper.

  • Thom B.

Great bento for Seattle. The tempura is good also. The beef fried rice is some of the best I have found in town. The only con is that it is pricey, but like others have already said, the portions are rather large. Oh, try the spicy tuna rolls. Not bad, not bad!

  • Christin M.

Pretty good spot for some greasy Japanese. The appearance isn't anything to write home about but the food hit's the spot. I got the chicken katsu which is the equivalent of battered chicken strips with a rather delicious dipping teriyaki type sauce. I ordered the Veggie Delight, but I wasn't impressed. Way to oily! Like submerged!! The pork fried rice is some of the best I've eaten. Good and moist, not dry and grainy like other places. The egg rolls were delish and they give you sweet and sour sauce for dipping. I didn't dine in, the inside is rather small. Kind of unnoticeable place if you're not looking for it. Great divey spot for a traditional dinner time fix.

I wish yelp had a 1/2 stars but I'll go ahead and throw them a 5 for what they do compared to other hole in wall teriaki joints. We have them as a regular rotation on our occasional takeout night. Love their chicken katsu and tempura. Teriyaki is ok and veggie yakisoba has a good combination of veggies. Prompt service and great portions. A definite plus among mediocre food options this area has to offer.

  • A B.

So much food! So much GOOD teriyaki for such a great price. I normally get take out... always prompt with their service. Their bento's are the best deal, but everything I've tried has been great. Chicken, Beef, Gyoza, Yakisoba. OMNOMNOM.

  • Krystal B.

I'm gonna try to keep it short and sweet. (the last thing I like are reviews that take up the whole page!) Ichi Bento is a great place! The atmosphere is quaint, the people are very friendly, and the food is pretty good. I go here often and never once have I had problems with customer service. Also, the prices are pretty reasonable (trust me, I'm a struggling student). Although they can be a little stingy with the soy sauce when picking up a to-go order, it's an all around great place to eat!

  • Danica C.

Usually I'm a fan of dive teriyaki joints, but Ichi Bento? Not so much :( I ordered the yakisoba with chicken to-go, but ended up eating it there because I had time. The yakisoba was my big reason for giving this place a low rating. Not much chicken, and it was overfilled with what I consider "filler vegetables" like onions and bean sprouts. Both add crunch and little taste, and in my opinion are just used to fill up the plate. I would've appreciated more of the colorful vegetables, such as broccoli and carrots, but the carrots were shredded, so hard to pick apart from the filler vegetables. For the large portion size, there weren't even a lot of the yakisoba noodles...just the filler vegetables :( I ended up with at least a third leftover, which I would almost ALWAYS take home, but ended up throwing them out because it was only the crappy filler vegetables left. The teriyaki sauce also wasn't my favorite. Although I did appreciate the free tea :)

  • Matt B.

A little spendy, but always filling. If you're not very hungry, a take-out meal could be split in to two meals. They do have a "kid's" meal, which is about half the size of a standard meal, and includes an egg roll.

  • Angie B.

Pretty random little place, but the spicy chicken I had was decent. Too much dressing on the little salad, but if I stop by again, I will just ask for less/on the side. The son was there and talking to someone on the phone about taking over the water, power, etc...since his parents were new owners - so maybe things will change for better or worse? Would like to try a bento another time, but spicy chix sounded good today since it was a bit chilly out. I was there before noon & was served promptly. More people started showing up after 12 noon & seemed to be waiting longer for their food. I was in the neighborhood for a work appointment & drove around a bit looking for options. This seemed to be the least sketchy looking & reasonably priced. Basically satisfied. Hmm...after looking around at some reviews, maybe I should have checked out Suni's up the street. Will try that instead next time I'm in the area.

My wife discovered this and I agree with her...very good! Reminds me of the "old" Kiku Tempura in the U-District...generous portions, very tasty, reasonably priced. And conveniently located for us North-Enders.

  • Mike T.

The only reason I know about this place is that the teachers at the school that I teach at love it. One thing is for sure...HUMONGOUS PORTIONS. Whether or not you order take out or dine at their cure little space, you will bring food home. I don't care if you have 4 stomachs. You will take food home. When you order the katsu you get two huge chicken breasts and a mountain of rice that completely fills to the brim your standard take out food container. The side salad is a plus as well! Oh yeah...I forgot to mention the food. Slightly above average teriyaki joint standards. Katsu, teriyaki, chow mein, oh yeah...they also serve sushi, although I would forgo it...

Simply put: Ichi Bento is the best. I recommend the Chicken&Gyoza, or the Chicken tempura. What it all comes down to is the sauce.....and the sauce is the boss.

I frequent this place a lot and it's so (insert expletive here) good. Very friendly (always a hello and thank you :]). This little homey shop is easy to miss but it's right across the street from Safeway on 175th and 15th. Bento Box: The best! I like the other foods but I can't stop eating this one. Portions are big, good quality, tasty, and SO worth the price. Among the rice, salad california roll, choice of meat, dipping sauce, and tempura, the tempura is the best part. It comes with a few shrimp tempuras and a variety of vegetables. Yuummm!! Not greasy, crispy. I don't like a lot of vegetables in general but I can eat all the vegetables here. I've heard another customer say that this is the best california rolls they've had. 4 were included in the meal. On top of all the goodness, the meal also came with a bowl of miso soup! Perfect pairing with the bento. Just heaven. If you haven't tried one of their bento boxes yet... you must! Enjoy! One new dish I recently tried was the Udon soup with tempura. Again, huge but still good. It comes with the thick noodles and 2 shrimp tempura. The warm soup is perfect for a cold day or someone under the weather. I'll try to remember to take pictures next time I eat there to upload them here! :)

Do you like getting to delicious meals for the price of one? Chicken is juicy and tender, Pork done nicely!

Ichi Bento's is located at the site of an old greasy burger joint, but don't worry: they've really fixed up the place. I keep coming back for the General Tsao's Chicken, the wife loves the teriyaki, and the kids eat up the sushi. Servings are large and relatively inexpensive, and ordering take-out literally fills to the brim each styro container (always nice when you get back home). Yummmm! Seating is at a premium, so ordering take-out is suggested.

I live a couple of blocks away from this place and it's pretty good, overall. The tempura is pretty good, but it just depends on when you get it cuz you can tell when they've used the oil a little too long. The teriyaki is pretty consistently good, the katsu has the same issue as the tempura, though. Can be great, can be not so great. The sushi is okay - better than a grocery store, but no where near fine dining. Pretty middle of the road as far as that goes. The parking situation is not so hot, nor is the seating situation when you get inside. The outdoor seating is really only a picnic table right outside (and way too near the main road for my tastes). I guess if it's 100 degrees inside and you just HAVE to eat there, it'd be ok. The staff is very frindly, though. I've never had a bad customer serice experience there and I've eaten there on many occasions on different days and times.

Love their terriyaki dishes. I am not a rice person. After I try their terriyaki dishes, I love their rice. The disppointed thing is they have BBQ pork instead of terriyaki pork. Don't like the BBQ pork.

Inconsistent. It's usually just fair, maybe one of a few last resorts if your starvation strikes before closing time and you reside in North City, but it depends upon who is cooking that day. Once, just once, it was freaking unbelievable. Tempura so good that it tasted fabulous as leftovers, hours after purchase, having first traveled in a Styrofoam clam-shell punctured with steam holes for a to go order, plus time spent in the fridge. What a feat that was! That night the sushi was also good. However, to fast forward a few weeks, the magic was over and the tempura was not even seasoned properly. The pork was abhorrent and the beef teriyaki was tough and wow, I wish I knew who was cooking that one miraculous night. I think it was a Thursday. Sigh.

Tried 'em for the first time the other day with the hubby. I had chicken teriyaki and he had a combo of some kind with prawns. It was so good! No fishy smell from prawns wafting from the kitchen. Chicken was cooked well yet fairly tender. Nice people. This place is very clean and well kept, tho' a tad small. Great for cuddly twosomes, foursomes, and takeout. Not good for large groups, but I bet they would try their darndest to manage it somehow.

Pro: Family environment. Good place to take children and babies Con: The food I ate there was poor quality.. The tempura was greasy and chewy. The terriyaki too salty. Toshi's at Northgate is much better. Hana's on Capitol Hill is the ultimate in Japanese cuisine.

you will not leave hungry after their bento box, they dont skimp on the tempura. chicken fried rice is a good choice since it comes in a large portion with lots of chicken, but has what looks/tastes like frozen veggies. gyoza is good and sushi is alright. they have creamy spicy mustard that is quite yummy.

Teeny, tiny place with decent Japanese meals. The bento boxes are a good lunch and are inexpensive. Watch out for the mega construction going on all along 15th Ave NE in the North City area. Its a bitch!

I've been coming here since high school. The bentos are the best deal. When you get to go, it's literally packed in 3 boxes! You get salad, rice, meat, a whole bunch of tempura, AND i think 4 pieces of california roll. The owner is a nice guy and dine in is fine for a quick and casual bite. Good food. Typical teriyaki offerings, but they do have kimichi and some stir fry dishes. Stick to the BENTO boxes. Huge portions, tasty, and best of all, you get a variety of things! Check their hours, they've been closed a few times I've tried to go.

I ate here for the first time tonight and ordered the spicy chicken teriyaki. The two women were friendly when I first got there. My food was ready after a short wait. I got take out and ate in my car right away. The chicken wasn't hot all the way through, which makes me think it was just waiting for a customer in the back. There was a lot of chicken over a generous helping of rice. The side salad was the usual teriyaki side salad with a sweet salad dressing. The "spicy" part of the chicken teriyaki was missing for me. It seemed the spicy chicken teriyaki was just regular teriyaki with the spicy garlic sauce mixed on top. For 30 cents extra I'm not sure it was worth it. I can't say I was impressed by the teriyaki but it wasn't horrible either. Just average.

I don't know why the low scores, but I love this place. It is family owned and family operated. Its not your fancy sushi bar, and maybe thats why the negative reviews, but they're food is simple and very good. If youre looking fancy sushi, throw your money away somewhere else, but for the price, this place is absolutely great! PS...These are shy, hard working people. If you're looking for superficial love and kisses for your patronage find a high priced sushi bar. This family doesn't need the negative vibes!

5 Star because the katsu is the best katsu I've had in a teriyaki shop in WA. I always order Katsu with yakitori and gyoza. Good proportions and not greasy. The only thing they could improve is their seats. Theres wear and tear everywhere but I don't care because I just love the katsu there!

I've sampled a lot of things on this restaurant's menu, but my favorites happen to be the Orange Chicken, Katsu Chicken, and the Beef Teriyaki. The prices are inexpensive, and you get a good amount of food for your buck. Staff are very friendly, food is fresh, and would highly recommend.

They have the best food and I love eating there because it is right next to my house and the lady that owns the place I'd really friendly. I would suggest to try their egg roles if you go their. The Time wait is pretty average, but you get free, yes free green tea if you sit down and eat.

Thought I might bring in my two little kids 5 and 2 years old for a quick lunch. We do lunch once a month and always when they are in good spirits and on best behavior. We deffinetly got the cold shoulder from the same women who has always been nice to me in past and who was nice this time to everyone but us. She tried three times to change my order from dine in to to go. And wouldn't respond when I left and said thank you, even though kids were quiet and I left no mess. The message was clear kids not welcome. The food was still great. The price still right on. I just know now to NEVER BRING FAMILY to dine in

This is my go-to place when I visit my mom! It is clean, good, reasonable, and always tasty! The portions are enough for lunch and dinner, and at $8, you can't go wrong with that! There's zero ambiance, but that doesn't matter when you're looking for a good meal and a good lunch/dinner! We like to get several meals and share them family style.

This pace is a real solid neighborhood teriyaki joint. The only real set back is no pork available anymore, but I'm probably better off for it. I've only had the sushi a couple of times and I'm not recommending it. Not horrible, but also probably not exactly what you're looking for. Stick with the chicken and the Katsu and you'll be all gravy. Solid Teriyaki.

Upon the recommendation of Ichi lovers, I went with the 1/2 katsu 1/2 chicken combo. They do indeed give you a lot but some gripes: - Didn't have brown rice. - Chicken did taste a lil' strange? Not horrible, just not what I'm used to eating? Might have been the spices. Not sure. Very nice woman taking the order, fast service. I've had better teriyaki, but it's nice to know that this one is just an earshot away from where I live.

Stopped by to place order yesterday evening! Awesome service, very personable host. Order teriyaki beef with chicken Katsu combination, served with rice and a salad. The food was awesome, large portions, fresh, and very tasty. I will be sure to go back and try some other yummy items!
