My friends and I frequent this place for their happy hour. The manhattans and martinis run about $7, and my friend Saphir swears that this is the BEST manhattan in the Pacific North West. The bar is very chill during the day. There's always seating for the happy hour, and during the first part of the week, if we go in for happy hour, we are generally the only people in the bar; however, I would like to warn everyone, and this is why I am giving The Whiskey Bar 4 of 5 stars, that on the weekends toward the evening the bar turns more into a club. The lights are VERY dim, the line to the bar is outrageous, service is slow and the music is loud. NOT the Whiskey Bar I am used to. :( I love this place during the day, though. I will never be back at night.

Had a short stop here as our first bar in Seattle. Walked in as they opened and the place was pretty empty. They were out of some food items, but the bartender was nice, chatting with us about local places we needed to go and experience. Prices were high, but for a specialized bar, that is expected.

Yelp has once again hooked me up over multiple time zones. I wanted to get a nice bourbon near my hotel to close out the night and the Whiskey Bar answered the call. The bartenders know their bourbon...I wanted a Manhattan Up and asked for my usual. The expert recommended something else and of course it was delicious. This is a great higher end joint in an area where you could consider it hit or miss. The beer selection was solid and the food looked great too although I didn't eat. If you're strolling down 2d Ave.....make a stop into the Whiskey Bar...you won't be disappointed.

This place is awesome! Met up a girlfriend for a drink (or two...) here and will definitely be back. The wings were amazing - crunchy and delicious with a little spice! The menu was a bit outdated so some of the items we were interested in (Brussels sprouts) were no longer available. Kind of a bummer that it wasn't up to date with the new items, but we had great service to recommend something different! Looks like a solid place for HH or group get togethers.

The food here is amazing! The booze selection here is amazing! The staff here made me feel like family every time I went here! Mike the bartender is a brilliant human being and I consider him a friend now,no joke. all the guys here are great even the kitchen staff! great place with a warm happy vibe. good times all around!

Two girls - two nights - four cocktail bars (one trendsetting, one hyper popular, one speakeasy style, and this one). Of the four bars we visited, The Whiskey Bar was our clear favorite. One simple reason: our bartender made the best and most delicious craft cocktails! Why is Patrick an amazing bartender? He knows his stock, is creative, can make excellent recommendations based on the ingredients you like, and then serves it up expertly.....and with a bit of flair. If I lived in Belltown, this would be my "go to" bar!

Awesome craft of serving both great scotches, whiskeys, and cocktails. Willing to educate and experiment on you for your drinking pleasure.

So I thought I would give this place a try again last night. Cody, the bartender was very informative when telling me about their well bourbon and well rye whiskey. So I ordered a double. However, once my drink was delivered, I became persona non grata (I'm sure I didn't spell that right). When he would make his rounds he would come to the table look at my female dining companion and ask her if he could get her anything else while I sat there as if I wasn't in the room! She would have to look at me and ask if I needed anything then tell Cody what my order was. Not sure I get it. I'm a really nice and pleasant person to deal with. I like the place, we spend a lot of bucks there. I guess there is something about me that says "ignore this guy when he comes in..." because they keep. doing. it. They've lost my business on this one. I won't be back.

Bartenders here were great! Super friendly and nice. They were happy to recommend drinks and give helpful suggestions. The selections for whisky was fantastic (of course), and their cocktails weren't bad either. Definitely recommend stopping by for a drink.

I came here with a group of friends for a late night drink and the first thing I noticed was that they were still serving up quality food at almost 1 AM! I'm not much of a drinker so while everyone was filling up on booze I was stuffing myself full of good eats! I tried the Welsh rarebit (toast with stout cheese sauce with a side of pickled onions) and the seasonal cheese plate. The rarebit was SO DAMN GOOD. The cheese plate was bountiful and delicious, at $9 bucks I felt like it was a steal of a deal. My group also ordered the sliders (one order of each kind), deviled eggs, crab cakes, fish and chips and jalapeño poppers. Everyone was really pleased with how delicious the food was, with the exception of the poppers which were apparently under cooked. I really liked the Whiskey Bar and I would absolutely come back. My only disappointment was that my whiskey loving boyfriend passed out too early to come and check out this awesome little spot!

Appropriately named, this bar offers a wide range of whiskeys appropriately priced. I don't know what's typically played here. But the hard rock tunes weren't a good fit for the place tonight. If I were to come back and the same music was playing I don't think I would return.

Casual whiskey My brother in law was in town so we took him to this place. He LOVED it and appreciated how friendly and knowledgeable the server was. It wasn't pretentious either. I ate the food that was just okay. I don't drink whiskey so I can't contribute there.

My god look at all the whiskies. Making a choice was hard. We had specialty drinks, neat whisky, and a cheese plate. Enjoyed every minute of it. The Whisky list is long, so if you are a whisky drinker this should be on your list of places to go and try if you are visiting. If you live here, well, consider yourself lucky!

I am a scotch connoisseur and love checking out new ones with a wise bartender. With two and a half fine-print pages worth of single malt scotches, I figured I would be recommended some nice and hard to find ones. I told them my current favorite, what kinds of scotches I enjoy, and they brought me... A McCallan 12 and a Glenlivet natural. Very, very underwhelmed. Had one drink and left.

I went to the whisky bar for the first time last week. The food options were wonderful- if you like jalepenos- go for the stuffed jalepenos. They aren't battered and fried- but the cheese and polenta combo is amazing! The staff recommendations were on point. My waiter gave me a variety of price options- and the high west double rye I decided to get was both affordable and extremely delicious! I will definitely be back soon.

This place is nice. I'm not a fan of whiskey but my friends are.... being the only vodka drinker, the bartender made me a special blood orange lemon drop and DAMNNNNN, i wish I would have gotten his name and number... I mean, his recipe because I've had other people try and make it for me and it has been a fail every time! The bartenders were nice and attentive! Definitely give this place a try!

Non-whisky review 3.5 stars So. many. dudes. I guess it's a whiskey bar near Amazon in Seattle but there's more dudes here than the average Seattle bar. With that said, it didn't seem quite as "bro" as the spots deeper into Belltown so we appreciated that. So I'm not a big whiskey drinker. I'll have it occasionally in cocktails but I am no expert. My girlfriend and I wandered in here randomly on a whim on a Saturday night. We were just thinking night cap. This place is bustling but not too loud. We couldn't find any seating at first except for one table up front. Turns out nobody wanted it because it was under a very bright light. We eventually moved to a spot at the bar where we were much happier. I started with the Alaska cocktail (Gin, Yellow Chartreuse, Orange Bitters, Lemon Twist) which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was well-made and I liked the non-whiskey option. My friend didn't really enjoy her pumpkin ale. Next, we got vodka gimlets. I was hesitant at first because I had bad experiences with gimlets being too icy in the past but the bartender assured me it wouldn't be too icy. Sure enough, it wasn't and I was very pleasantly surprised! He has talked me out of being scared of all gimlets. The one thing I didn't like was that while the bartender was fun, he pushed us to get those last drinks for last call and then turned the lights on less than 5 minutes after giving them to us. If you knew you wouldn't make them in time for us to not have to guzzle, don't be so pushy! The funniest thing about this place is how they kick you out. At about 1:40, they turned on the lights and the music changed to 90s boy band music. It was N'Sync and Backstreet Boys, I kid you not. I guess that deters most guys in the bar but my girlfriend and I loved it! It actually motivated us to stay a little longer and finish those vodka gimlets! I wouldn't be opposed to coming back. I like the chill atmosphere the the boy band music at 1:40! :p

Amazing selection of whisk(e)y and beers on tap, as well as excellent cocktails. Decent food menu, too. Happy hour is 11:30-7 every day, too! (Hic!) I called ahead for a pub crawl group of about 15 people and they were very accomodating, even giving us the option of pre-ordering food so they could have it ready if people were interested. I stopped by earlier this week for happy hour and was impressed to see a bottle of Bruichladdich that we'd just brought home from a trip to Islay that's "only available from the distillery", so ... not sure how that happened, but good on them! I will have to visit again soon and try all the different Islay whisky they have on offer. Actually, I should probably stop by multiple times, otherwise I will probably get alcohol poisoning if I try this in one trip. :) -1 star for the really gross toilet in the ladies room the last time I visited. Make sure you have a few drinks before going in there so you're less likely to care.

This is easily one of my new favorite places, EVER. While on vacation I was just walking around and stumbled across this place and it was amazing. As a whiskey drinker I appreciated the HUGE selection that they had go choose from and wanted to try something I hadn't had before. I chose the Redbreast 12 year and it was FANTASTIC. The gentleman bartender with the glasses (I can't remember his name) was awesome. He then proceeded to drop all kinds of knowledge on me and show me some great other options and talk to me about them all. It was a great time. If you're in Seattle and enjoy whiskey, this place is a must.

Really good whiskey bar and a big size screen for the games! I love the real smoky whiskey and their mixed drinks are just delicious! Every city needs a good whiskey bar with big screen tv! Glad we found this place!

This is a favorite spot that's perfect for a happy hour or a pre-show meal. Their food is good, with a nice little range of items (the beef short ribs are a favorite of mine.) And I love their whisky list! Generous pours and knowledgeable staff. (They also do half pours, which I like for trying something different or expensive.) I was discussing different options with one of the staff and he suggested something I wouldn't have ordinarily have chosen, but it was delightful. We've been there a few times, and almost every time it's filled up very quickly. So if you're going after work on a Friday night, get there early!

Fantastic British pub. Standard dark wood times but with a modern flair. Good beer selection for the neighborhood and an even better one for whiskeys. One upping their alcohol is their food. Arugula salad, deviled eggs are amazing. Scotch eggs were better than the ones I've had in London!

I came here with a friend for the 3 Howls Rye Whiskey release party earlier this week. It was the first time I had come to the new spot since they moved slightly further North on 2nd Ave. It's basically on the other side of Lenora now. I liked the space. I got the impression that it's trying to be a dive bar, but it hadn't quite achieved the run down interior quite yet. I think it's because it's too new and too nice still. Once this place has some more rowdy Friday/Saturday nights under its belt, it will get there. The bagpipe music was a nice touch. It made conversation a little difficult when it was going on, but it was still pretty cool. We ordered the corned beef sliders and the scotch egg. I really enjoyed the sliders. The corned beef was a little dry, but that was compensated for by a wealth of dijon mustard. There were a couple bites where I felt like I had eaten a spoonful of wasabi. I like that, but if you don't, you've been warned! The scotch egg was alright. Nothing stupendous. The bread was fairly dry as well, which is typical of a scotch egg, but it's also more typical that this is offset by the runnyness of the egg yolk on the inside, but the eggs were overcooked and not really very runny at all. I tried to make it better with the sauce that was provided, but it was weird. Most of the time, I've seen mustard sauce with this dish, but this was a BBQ/A1 sauce mixture. Not my fave. The whisky selection is impressive. They've got a wide selection of bourbon, rye, scotch, Irish whisky... if you've got a favorite whisky, they've probably got it. We then ordered a 3 Howls rye Manhattan. Now, I can't ascertain if it was the whiskey itself, or if the drink wasn't made correctly, but it didn't taste quite right. I should have tried the 3 howls by itself first so I could be sure. I tend to think that a place called "The Whisky Bar" would be able to make one of the most quintessential whisky cocktails well, so it's probably more likely that the rye just wasn't my favorite. I'd give it another shot, but I'd definitely get it neat next time. The price is probably what takes it down from 4 to 3 stars for me. I paid for one manhattan, a glencairn of Glenlivet 12 year, and the corned beef sliders and it was $35 before tip. It's a little misleading because when you look at the outside of this place, you wouldn't expect those kind of exorbitant prices. If you fancy yourself a whisky expert, come here to try some selections that you can't find most other places. But be prepared to pay for it!

Holy crap, if there is a mecca for whisky fans this IS it. Their selection of bottles is impressive and I like the added touch of actually leaving the bottle with you when you're drinking it. Their bar menu is a little less than impressive and certainly not appropriate for a date night but a hell of a watering hole. It's pretty dark inside, a relatively small bar area, and scattered seating in a medium sized bar. I'll definitely be back here just to try more booze and perhaps some food based on the other reviews I see here.

Pros: Nice selection of spirits and beers, good service, and nice atmosphere. Cons: A tad pricey, but tolerable. Their cheap stuff was expensive; their middle level stuff was on point. Hendricks gin = $9.00, Laphroaig 10 = $14.00, Laphroaig triple wood = $20.00, Talisker 10 year = $15, Taliaker 18 year = $54. These people know their whiskey & scotch! I was very impressed with their selection. The service was wonderful and for a bar that had some pricey heavy hitters in the whiskey and scorch categories, they were not as pretentious as they probably could have been. However, we're in Seattle not L.A., so i suppose it's a naturally less pretentious environment anyway. We met friends here for some after dinner drinks. I ordered a Hendricks and tonic (because that's the only gin that should ever be served). It was made perfectly and in a tall glass, which was satisfying since it was $9.00. This place is good for small groups. Plenty of room and seating choices. The clientele was also well behaved, which is sometimes a toss up at bars. Overall, it was a really nice experience. I would definitely come back! 1

My friend and i came to visit for a birthday weekend. The best whisky selection in town. The bartenders were super friendly and very knowledgeable. They craft the best whisky sour and most of the classic whisky drinks. Definitely a must visit in Seattle.

I liked the vibe of the place until I watched one of the bartenders physically attack a bar patron to the point of beating him while he was down and then holding him to the ground using his knee on the guys throat. I had to literally go over and yell at the bartender to stop and to get off of the guy. This was all because the patron (who admittedly was drunk) tried to take a glass of water outside of the bar. I get that rules are rules, but this bartender WAY over reacted. Then, when the bartender walked back inside, he was laughing and high-fiving other workers there like it was great fun. Seriously the guy had a terrible attitude, it was gross.

I came here because I'm drawn to whiskey like Honey Boo Boo is drawn to pickles. They had a very large selection of whiskey, bourbon, and scotch. I especially liked that they had Four Roses which is one of my favorites. The food was okay. Nothing special about it. I had a burger that you can get anywhere.

Love this place! We were in town for business and it is just a great bar with a local feel. We ordered the Brussel sprouts, so amazing!!! Happy hour is great too, just a great bar with great service, don't miss this on your trip to Seattle!

We stopped in The Whiskey Bar for an afternoon drink and snack this last Thursday. Pretty good! They have a great list of whiskey, bourbon, scotch and make some awesome cocktails. Good beers too. We ordered roasted jalapeño poppers, scotch eggs and the potato leek pasties. The food for the most part was awesome except for the pasties. Overall pretty good place, knowledgable staff and happy to suggest alternate drinks. Great place. I'd go back but just wouldn't order the pasties.

I'm a huge fan of the Whisky Bar. Several friends and I usually end up heading there prior to going to a nearby nightclub, and in the couple years of visiting we've always had a great experience. Every time I visit I ask one of their knowledgeable bartenders about their rotating taps and current bottled beer selection. If nothing piques my interest I'll usually ask for a drink recommendation, but if I'm not feeling too adventurous I'll just order an old fashioned with one of their excellent bourbon soaked cherries. While I usually keep my food choices there pretty simple, I've always enjoyed what I've received. Their burgers and fries are quite tasty, and priced reasonably given how good they are. If you find yourself at the Whisky Bar try to be seated in front of Mike. I always feel like I'm there to visit an old friend when Mike is behind the bar. His love of the craft truly shows in his dedication to providing customers with an incredible experience. He's introduced my friends and I to amazing new beers, excellent scotches and bourbons, and of course delicious mixed drinks. Even if you have no idea what you want to drink Mike will find something that you thoroughly enjoy. Most recently he introduced me to three delicious drinks: the Whiskey Smash, Egg White Whiskey Sour, and Mint Julep. Can't recommend the Whisky Bar enough, and always look forward to going back.

An amazing selection of scotch served with a smile. That gets them the 4 stars. Food was OK, Scotch Egg was pretty good. Cheese plate was better. The insect running across the bar (noticed and killed by my wife) makes it difficult to imagine eating there again.... but an amazing selection of scotch

Our first night in Seattle, and we were trying to figure out where to drink. It was too early to drink-drink, so we decided to check out The Whisky Bar for a beer or two to pass the time. Walking in, I was delighted by the atmosphere. They have a long bar on one side and booths on the other. They had a small semi-closed off room in the back that had a fake fireplace, which is where my best friend and I chilled. They have a good selection of alcohol, and the bartenders are really happy to help you choose a drink. While we were chillin' and watching sports, a beer tour group came through. We got to meet a lot of different people, even if they weren't Seattle natives. This bar is definitely great to catch up with friends or even just watching some sports.

I came here, I got drunk, I went home. I guess I can go into more details. Came here for a Happy Hour on a weekday with a co-worker, pretty chill place on a weekday, not crowded at all. A lot of room to sit and chat about other co-workers and their bad habits. Anyways, bartender was real friendly and helpful, check out the drink menu for your liking. After about 4 hours here we left satisfied. I didnt check out the food but it looked pretty good from what I could see at other tables. Ill probably have some next time. Its in Belltown so it was perfect for my bus line home. (dont drink & drive). A recommended place to have a drink after work. Happy Happy Hour'n!!!

Didn't like any of the cocktails I ordered. Scotch was a couple dollars more per pour than other places we've been to. Waited almost 3 hours for food late one weeknight. Really good burger and cheese plate though. Just not worth waiting for.

Great whiskey selection, and they played 90's rap, which means a lot. (Biggie, Tribe Called Quest, Nas). Bad service.

They have a great selection of beer and whiskey. Easy to find something I liked there. The food was pretty good as well. We tried the brussel sprouts, fries and split the whiskey burger. It was all very tasty. The sprouts were probably my favorite of what we had. So good. The service is why I only gave 3 stars though. They just forgot about us. We asked for the bill 3 times since we had a concert to go to and were in a hurry to get moving.

I live right around the corner from this place and frequent it on the weekends. It's an awesome place to go but it gets busy pretty quickly in the evenings. Their food menu is slightly limited so it's better for drinking. Typical bar food and their burger is pretty delicious. The bartenders here are pretty friendly and have good senses of humor. I do enjoy hitting this place on the weekend. Upping my review to 5 stars, because they have my absolute favorite beer ever (Brewdog IPA). Plus I want to emphasize that the bartenders there are awesome.

My friends and I ended up here thinking we were going to Radiator Whiskey. Frankly, it was cold and we believed we got there. I'm happy we didn't. As others are mentioning, Whisky Bar is divey, not that there's anything wrong with that. Like much of Belltown it has a good beer list that doesn't overlap much with anywhere else, and a good bar behind it. We were hungry, though, and curious about the small menu. We started with a cheese plate that was small and overpriced. On to the real meal: burgers. Wow. The burgers tasted very, very fresh. The meat was great. The buns were also very fresh, if not made there (which may be unlikely) probably made nearby. They were pretzel and not much like anything I've had elsewhere. The steak fries went perfectly with it, as did the sautéed onlions. I've had several of the "best burgers" in Seattle, and thought this one trumped them all. Maybe I was just extremely hungry, but it was a great meal.

Text from last night: "WTF did i drink last night and how did I end up hungover?" The bar is nice and I really like the way all the seating revolves all around the center bar. There's a pool table with enough room to play without hitting poor drunks in the face, comfy booths, friendly and attentive bartenders... Oh and they have a few kinds of whisky to choose from, quite the miracle. A few billion trillion. It's not cheap, by any stretch, but on the right night or accompanied by the right (Thrill), it's a good place to get drunk. I also enjoyed Kebab which is attached and the fact that you can bring food over without problems. It would have been nice if they could have made the Huskies not lose... but you know, one miracle at a time.

Whiskey bar is unique in that it has probably the best selection of premium whisky and scotch in Seattle.. It has a nice vibe, good indoor and outdoor seating. Their is a store around the corner that sell single cigars.. Grab one and sit out in the patio and enjoy a nice single malt. It is in Belltown, so you tend to get a lot of locals and tourist who can yelp. But the bartenders are very generous with the pours -- you get your monies worth for sure. The food was surprisingly very good.

  • Adam B.

I was so hopeful when I saw their whisky selection, even though prices are a bit high. Alas, service was subpar. My wife kept trying to get our waiters attention to no avail. I had to basically block his path to get his attention. I'm not sure if he was that bad or if he had too many tables. Eitherway, we did not have a pleasant experience.

Typical pub food but what you really come here for are the beverages! Awesome beers on tap (always changing) and the largest wall of whiskey you could ask for! Now, my dog is named Bourbon and my fiance is on a scotch kick so we rendezvoused here. The bartender was so knowledgable about everything & was great at giving suggestions which led to some beer tasting for me and heaven for my fiance! Seriously, if you like whiskey and want to try some bottles that you can't really get anywhere else, go here!

If you're looking for an exceptional meal, Whisky Bar may not be for you. But if you're looking for a strong, yet not hard-to-swallow whiskey cocktail with decent bar sides, look no further. I come here frequently and I usually order the same drink: the suffering bastard. I haven't gotten the name (yet) of my favorite bartender but he wears glasses and frequently accessorizes with a scarf. He's kind and always welcoming in regards to answering questions about which type of drink best suits your taste, and kind enough to remake it if it's not what you expect. The crowd here is relaxing and not pretentious. Real sports fans unite in camaraderie as everyone watches the big screen together, and you'll never get a dirty look across the way if you're rooting for the opposing team. Good place for a midweek wind-down.

  • Blake G.

It is too bad the bartenders were not interested in learning about everything about me so that they could recommend a drink that was most suited to my needs. If only they would have been interested in what I was telling them about myself they could have recommended something that would be awesome for me. If only the owners knew that they were more interested in getting on with their day rather than helping me it would be a wonder what they would do next. I should note that the food was really delicious.

You can't go wrong with a whiskey bar. Great service which seems to be the standard in Seattle. The drinks are amazing but the time and care out in to each one is incredible. The fresh ingredients take everything to the next level and the selection of quality whiskey pours is awesome!!

Whisky Bar has repeatedly put me into a beer and food coma, for several reasons: 1. Their burgers are fantastic. When I want to get a burger fix, it's where I go and where I recommend for friends who come to town. 2. They have the BEST chips (fries). Thick cut steak fries that are piping hot and just the right amount of crispy on the outside. 3. They have Brewdog bottles--a favorite of mine from my days living in the UK that I can't find many places, but which they always have and are happy to serve up. It's not even an extreme upcharge for being an import beer. I'm definitely a fan--I have every intention of visiting again, and you should too!

While visiting a best friend in Seattle we decided to stop by here for late night fare and a few drinks. I got the fries which were piping hot and absolutely delicious. the liquor selection was incredible and with the atmosphere to match. Overall the service was pretty slow, but I would return.

WoOhOo Whiskey! Whisky! Tons of it. I entered The Whisky Bar on a warm Sunday evening, all the front doors and windows were open. It was a Sunday around 11pm, so there was plenty of space at the bar. I only went for a drink, no food. The menu of whiskeys/whiskies is huge! The bartender was patient and very knowledgeable. He kindly suggested a few bourbons for me and a few Japanese whiskies for the bf and explained the differences. I went to The Whisky Bar after leaving The Upstairs and I definitely made the correct choice. I'm for sure coming back the next time I'm in Seattle! Random info for your enjoyment :) ... My sources tell me America & Ireland produce whiskey (whiskeys) while Canada, Scotland, and Japan produce whisky (whiskies)

Love this place! We were in town for business and it is just a great bar with a local feel. We ordered the Brussel sprouts, so amazing!!! Happy hour is great too, just a great bar with great service, don't miss this on your trip to Seattle!

Stopped in on a Saturday night, but it wasn't crowded and the atmosphere was good to chat with friends. Huge selection of awesome whiskeys, service was great. I had an Elmer T Lee. New favorite. I'm definitely going back soon.

I barely remember the old location because I was just in there quickly, once, years ago. But I remember it well enough to know that the new spot is much, much nicer. The old place didn't give you the sense at all that they were trying to be nice; it was more like a fun dive in a gritty corner of downtown. Lots of off the wall drunks in there, some of them pretty messed up. The new place definitely draws its fair share of heavy drinkers, but it doesn't feel like it might ever get stabby. The old place kinda did. What's here now is a good attempt at a northern European/UK-style watering hole with a bit of bistro effort from the kitchen. As you would expect, the whisky list is pretty enormous, with lots of Scotch, Irish, Canadian, and American choices. Not a ton of Japanese, and not too many blends, but the bottle list is impressive in the areas where they focus. The tap list is pretty damn good, too, and they host brewer's nights and embrace that side of the industry. You walk in under a nice planter box overflowing with foliage, and there are several little tables, then a highboy, then a long bar and lots of booths, then further back in the warren there are more tables in a small room...it's a long shoebox. Nicely paneled with attractive wood. The menu is pretty cool. Plenty of pub grub choices--haggis, meat loaf, sliders, cheeses, and so on. Hearty pub grub. It's $10-12 for a few bites on each plate, though. Not a great place to try to have a full meal. It's really for snacks. But they're intensely flavorful and done very well. The staff is really nice, though they were definitely understaffed the night I was in and couldn't get to tables. We moved to the bar. Bartenders were chatty, funny, cool guys. The cook was really amiable, especially given that he was having to run food all night. The crowd switched after happy hour (they have a really popular happy hour until 7). That was mostly after-work tipplers looking to have a quick one or two before heading home. About an hour after that ended, it turned into a yelly bro-down, with guys ordering rounds of (expensive!) shots and yelling "Freebird!" at the speakers. Not making this up. That faded, too, though. As my buddy and I BSed on and on, it got pretty quiet again. So you might see any of a number of different personalities depending on when you get here. A dude walked in late selling these books he wrote and had printed at an office supply printing type place. A book about how to be a good friend to the people you meet, a little workbook with plenty of room for notes. My boy S bought two--one for him, one for me. A little local color for the evening. Final thought--note that the online menu as of this week is completely out of date.

Attentive, knowledgeable bartenders. As a bourbon drinker I was impressed by the selection. Tried my first shot of Elmer T. Lee bourbon. It was very tasty but a bit steep at $16 plus a shot. Will definitely return this fall for a Seahawk game. .

Great service, bar selection and food. Had the best damn burger I have had in a LONG time. The staff is extremely friendly. I will definitely be going back!

Great whiskey selection, esp if you like to drink it neat. Food is pretty good and the best part is its rarely WAY crowded, I can always seem to sit at the bar. Some of the friendliest and most timely bar staff I've encountered. No shade or rudeness. They also let me reserve part of the bar for a party one time, which was really cool.

I've been to the new location a number of times and the service for me has been hit or miss. At night it definitely was more on point but during HH when it was slower (oddly enough) it has been worse. I met someone for a drink here recently and the bartender flat out ignored his existence for 15 minutes. Generally they are very knowledgeable when it comes to finding a good selection. That being said, their selection of whiskey is excellent and I really like the atmosphere. They have a ton of craft beers so you can for sure find something you haven't tried before. They have a super yummy welsh rarebit for only $5 during HH, get it! The drink specials for HH just aren't special enough for me but once I get my Jameson I'm a happy lady. I will continue to come back and give them another chance at night.

Probably the most overrated, creepiest, douchiest, lamest bar in town. The "security" guys they hire are thugs, I've seen them beat people up a couple times for no good reason. Go further north on 1st or 2nd, there's much better places. Not worth the risk.

Very nice bar. I am not a whisky fan but the place is very comfortable and it also has a nice list of tap beers. The lamb sliders were very good. Jeff, the manager, is very kind and nice and efficient. When I went the bar was taken by navy officers that just landed and, you know, they can be loud, but that was not the manager's fault.

  • Gregor P.

We were there last night, delicious food (the sliders especially!), and a great selection of whiskey. The downside was the service. Though they seemed only moderately busy, getting attention from the waiter was difficult, and two separate times when dropping off food, the server asked who at the table had ordered the food, and when we indicated someone on the other end of the table the server hesitated a couple seconds before deciding to put the food down right where he was rather than take three steps to the left to deliver it to the appropriate person. The combination of that and the general slowness (ordering food, ordering additional rounds of drinks, and closing the tab) made the service seem very lackluster.

First time after wanting to try for months. Sat at the bar (not busy at all) and bartender took our order. Other people were helped after us and then hipster bartender with glasses that took our order just stood there. We got up and left after 15 minutes of sitting there twiddling our thumbs.

There are few things more glorious than a wall stocked with whiskey from around the world. I went with a bourbon that most places don't have in stock, and paid a little more than I wanted to for it. I suppose the price was on par with Seattle bars, but it still stings. The bartender was super cool and kept the water full. I didn't try the food but other people seemed to say good things.

*I really wanted to like this place and food and the bartender was very gracious *The place was WOEFULLY understaffed, a joke really, it's sad to me that places don't have enough people on a busy thursday night *Brussel sprouts were good if not salty, my burger was decent if not a little dry, fries were really good. Their site says $3 off on plates during HH, their menu has no plates asked the bartnender/slammed waiter for 60 people and he says "no just drinks at HH" *Overall vibe was hurried and the chef brought us two dishes that weren't ours, they just don't have it together

I have been here a few times now and I can't say service is great but its a good place to start an evening. Drinks are good and they have some tasty food to eat. Last time there I tried their Crispy Brussels Sprouts and Stuffed Jalapenos - Bacon, Polenta , Smoked Jack.

We stopped into this place for one last drink before heading back to our hotel on the waterfront. This place was hopping on a late Sunday night. We only had one beer each but in this short time, I left impressed. Even though they were very busy, we were seated and served promptly. Our server knew a lot about the massive beer selection and my lady order a German shandy she had never heard of and loved it! Servers were friendly and efficient too. Dark and dank decor. Would certainly give this place another visit!

Great for alcoholics who are too drunk to care about horrible food. Shitty for their friends who wait 40 minutes for the "Cheese Plate." (Seriously, 40 minutes? You just have to cut it!) It amounts to a shitty lunchable: fist-sized, stale, without any meat & only 1 kind of fowl cheese. It costs over $8. v_v

Great selection of craft beers!! The bartender/mixologist tending the bar the night we went was extremely skilled and knowledgeable in Bourbon and offered so many different variations of classic and nouveau drinks, it was amazing. Selection of bourbons was impressive to begin with but having the creativity was rather amazing. Big fan and will be back!

New, updated location...new updated review! Folks who have not been to TWB since they moved from their old location off of Virginia really need to give this place another go. Not that I disliked the old locale -- in fact I loved it! (Even with the crappy kebab place next door, but I digress). The new location is HUGE for starters. So much more room. And kind of swanky too.Sun lights in the roof, heavy wooden tables, copper topped bars that still ooze and reflect that golden whiskey color, and a pretty nice patio for some outdoor sipping in our fabulous Seattle summers. The whiskey list is still massive. Luckily for you the servers and bartenders here know their stuff when it comes to just about everything on the menu, so please ask questions! They are more than happy to share their knowledge and give recommendations based off preferences. They also have a better beer list now -- taps and bottles. Just don't go with me cuz I always seem to order whatever keg just blew. Still! Excellent beers with excellent whiskeys. You can't go wrong. There is also a small, serviceable menu of higher end pub fare. I've yet to try anything but the meatloaf of all things seriously sounds amazing. Prices are still good, though at a place like this it is really easy to spend a lot of moolah fast. Some have thrown the word "dive" around to describe the old Whiskey Bar, and while I never agreed with that label if anyone were to try to classify the new location as such i'd laugh right in their faces. The Whiskey Bar has grown up! And it is sleek, comfortable, and classy.

I'll try to keep this short and sweet. Great selection of whisky, I'm sure if you want it they'll have it. Our bartender made a mean old fashioned with their house bourbon, I rarely find a bartender who can make it right. I wish I could remember his name, he was a really friendly guy wearing a newsboy hat. They apparently have good food there but we arrived after the kitchen closed. I wish we went there first and stayed there that night instead of hopping around to the other bars that were trying too hard to be edgy.

Gooood drinks and GREAT food! I ordered some chicken wings and fries after a few drinks at around midnight, and the wings were some of the best bungs I've ever had. Smokey and tangy taste. Would order the same thing again

Had the pleasure of enjoying cocktails here The plan was to enter and have a single drink. That changed once we stepped foot in this place. Every bartender we had was top notch. However, one bartender took service to another level. I want to go on record saying Jeff was one of the best bartenders I have ever had. At one point we offered Jeff a job back home in San Diego. Jeffs passion for his craft was on display the whole evening. He was able to recommend a drink for us based on our taste. Not one drink was less then fantastic. The owner of this business should try everything they can to keep Jeff and his staff. I walked in wanting to spend $30, left dropping $250. I would do it again for the experience. It is so refreshing to enter a place like The Whisky Bar. I would suggest you try this place before you go to any other bar in Downtown.

This review is simply based on the service from the staff at The Whisky Bar. Upon entering the establishment we were met by the ID checker and directed to a table. We sat there for a good amount of time before anyone even decided to come over to the table. Once he did come over, he definitely wasn't the warmest person in the world. The lackluster service mixed with the extremely warm room had our party of 7 walk out after one round. If you are a whiskey drinker, this is a great place for you since there is great selection. Maybe the night I came through was an off night, but since I'm not a whiskey drinker I probably won't be back.

Those of you who follow my reviews know that I do not hand out five stars very often, I save my five stars for those establishments that truly represent what they are serving and not only the best Way possible in terms of flavor but also service. This board is just that, do you want top shelf whiskey? Well guess what this place has it and their service is probably some of the best I've ever seen. They know your name and want to make sure that your experience is the best it can be. If you enjoy good whiskey and great times then when you were in Seattle you need to come here, if you don't you will only be missing out on a great experience. This is a must visit!

This place is a great local watering hole. They have very knowledgable staff and good food. The waiter recommended an amazing scotch based on my taste preferences. I had the 15 year Lismore, neat. We really enjoyed the ambience and the service was excellent.

I've only been to the Whisky Bar a couple times. However after this last visit I won't be back. The place was packed as I would expect for a Friday night. Our group was looking for a table. I asked one of the servers if there was an open table. Instead of being helpful he came back with a smartass response. We left and went to a competitive bar down the street. I know they have a nice selection of whisky. However there are better bars in town with just as nice of a selection if not better without the attitude.

Amazing beer list, great ambience, and delicious pub food. The service is great--very informative and courteous (without interrupting your conversation every 10 seconds). Unfortunately, the loud, oblivious chubsters next to our table were very hungry for attention. They ignored the fact that there were only two servers/bartenders attending to 50+ customers, and proceeded to whine and threaten the bartender with negative reviews when the bartender wasn't acting as their personal servant. Luckily these types of women make few appearances in bars like this. We're Looking forward to returning without a group of bitter snorlax at the neighboring table.

We had a delightful server. This place suffers because it's in an area with amazing restaurants. I would have rated them much higher if they were in the suburbs amidst chain restaurants. The Manhattans and the food were slightly above average, but absolutely no match for their neighbor restaurants.

I wanted to talk to a manager to plan an event here. For whatever reason, the bartender refused to tell me who the manager was or how to contact anyone to talk about things. Um OK. If any manager from Whisky Bar wants to reveal themselves, I'd love to talk to you. But until then you get one star.

We met up with some friend here. Great selection of whiskey but very limited on wines for the non-whiskey drinkers. I had a glass of not so great red wine and moved onto a Talisker. Nice vibe and window seating. Great for both intimate gatherings and for groups.

Good whiskey, good food and good service. Friendly, attentive and helpful. Fish and chips, stuffed jalepenos were good...Thai sliders were good but a little dry. Would definitely go again if they were in San Diego.

My hubby used to some here while in Seattle on business several times a year. He often told me about it and finally, on a recent trip together, he got to show me the place. The only thing was, they moved! Actually, that may be a good thing. We asked the bartender about the move. Apparently they had recently moved, and they all took part in the remodeling. Or he could have just been making all the interior wood look nicer by saying it was reclaimed. Regardless, they have SO MANY varieties of whisk(e)y to choose from. It was great. The food options were a bit meager, since we wanted to eat a nice filling appetizer. We ended up with warm pistachios and olives. I must say, I never thought to bake pistachios, but if i can get them out of the shell & on a pan (rather than in my mouth) then I may be tempted to do it sometime! They probably don't sell a bad drink in there. I was hesitant and actually discouraging when a friend wanted to order corn whiskey, since my personal experience has always been awful if corn is involved in whiskey. However, it had a nice cinnamony flavor that made me go home & throw a cinnamon stick in the bottle of corn whiskey sitting on my shelf. If I make it back to Seattle without kids again, this will be on my list!

My quick rundown: -Nice staff, Jeff behind the bar was super helpful -The owners were there during our last visit having a great time and bought us a few drinks, very kind of them -The beer list is solid and the liquor list is even better -It's connected to Kebab for solid food at a cheap price inside (cash only) -As Garth would say "And they got a pool table too!" -It is close to my apartment :) I'd give it 5 stars if the prices were half of what they are. It's not a ripoff by any means, but I'm a tight wad when it comes to drinking out! Sorry Whisky Bar, can only afford the 4.

This place is more casual than the name and facade implies. We stopped here on Christmas night for their $12 Christmas dinner which was tasty for the price. Anyway, this is a small neighborhood bar with a lot of regulars, a decent beer selection and reasonably priced drinks.

Cool little bar with a great selection of scotch/whiskeys for the whiskey fans. We only stopped in for a drink so no comments on the food. I ordered a house manhattan and the hubs ordered a tasting of the Bunnahabhain 12 year. The Manhattan was well made and just what I would expect a well made Manhattan to taste like. The bartenders are friendly and seemed to converse with many of the locals who walked in. The cocktail menu had some good options to choose from. We didn't get to try the food this time, but the food options looked pretty tasty. The bar itself is roomy, large with plenty of booths for seating if you come in with a group of friends or want to try some of their dishes on the menu. The overall ambiance is cozy and casual and I could see this as a great gathering place for a small group to share some drinks.

My boyfriend and I came here Friday night. He is a whiskey fan and had been wanting to try The Whisky Bar for quite some time. I on the other hand, am not a whiskey fan. Take my review as you want but I experienced the bar with a beer and enjoyed sitting in the dimly lit booth and hanging out. There was some cool art on the walls and the crowd seemed pretty good. This is not a fancy shmancy Belltown bar which is kind of a refreshing change. The bartenders were friendly. I was relieved that there were several choices for beer and other cocktails that did not involve whiskey or bourbon. I'd go back but as a non-whiskey drinker I would again have something else. My boyfriend is looking forward to going back!

I've passed this place loads of times en route to the Moore. Usually it's Wann, if there's to be before-show-noshing but on one recent night, I ran across some out-of-town friends who happened to be at this bar! It was fate so we stopped inside and I proceeded to imbibe some tastiness. It was crowded for a Sunday night. I think a fair amount of their business comes from patrons leaving the Moore. And there are a lot of spirits available, check out the bible of goodies and don't just go with your same old choice. Bartenders are friendly and helpful. If you are hungry, bring cash. While the bar itself doesn't sell food, there's a takeaway window in the same space that sells cheap offerings. There's a nice outdoor patio and a cigarette machine that sells their branded merch. Some of the artwork on the walls is a bit odd... I'm talking about the nude women with the antlers. You knew what I meant when I mentioned it.

I'm a big bourbon fan after living in Kentucky for a couple of years in the 90s. Visiting Seattle this week and staying in Belltown so walked 2 blocks to this bar with my wife. Time: Tuesday night around 11:30PM. Busy: about 20% of full seating capacity. I read earlier reviews and expected great selection but poor service. In fact, I got excellent service and great (not excellent) selection. I love Pappy Van Winkle and was hoping they had any year in stock but unfortunately they didn't. Nonetheless, the 2 bartenders gave us the best service we could ask for. They apologized for not having my selection but were very knowledgeable of the rest of the quite large selection and introduced me to a couple of very, very fine bourbons I had not even heard of! My wife had a screw driver and they freshly squeezed the oranges right in front of us! Would love to return. Special thanks to the 2 bartenders that appeared to love what they're doing and it showed in their relationship with customers.

Maybe we came on an off night, but I'm with a group of 7 or so guys and we basically doubled the population in the bar when we walked in... And I'm 1 of 3 girls. So rock on, ratios are good if you're female, but it basically meant this was a single-drink stop for my friends. The bartender was super nice and let me taste a porter and a cider, both confirming that I (still) don't like either. Wine drinkers needn't apply here. A fine place to grab a beer with a friend for a chill, low key night - and I have just the person in mind - but otherwise it was a pretty dead night.

Nice place to have drinks during happy hour and at night. They have every kind of whiskey you could want plus much more. I had several different whiskey cocktails here and they were all great. I don't like whiskey straight, but I enjoyed their cocktails so make sure to try one. The bartenders do a good job of keeping up with the crowd while still taking their time to make good drinks. The place had a nice atmosphere. It was very busy but not overly crowded. We were able to find seats at the bar to hang out. I would make this bar part of my regular rotation if I lived in Seattle.

The thing I liked the most about The Whisky Bary is it's simple design and atmosphere. A solid assortment of drinks to coincide with the largest list of whiskey's I'd ever seen. A bit on the high priced side for me (I'm a cheap bastard, what can I say) but it is worth at least a drink or two as a warm up to the rest of a night out. Only other draw back was the lack of true background music. Working off of one's iPod (a mini at that) does not a good bar make. Invest in a jukebox or proper music streaming service, gents!

I stumbled upon this beautiful bar while vacationing, and I am so glad that I did. I am a whisky/scotch aficionado (read: snob) and so was naturally drawn to this establishment. The exterior of the building is very attractive (as was the gentleman employee standing at the door), and the dim interior of the bar was elegant and inviting. I was impressed by the selection (it's not a menu, it is a BOOK) and excited to see that the prices were reasonable. The service was fast and competent, the bartender was personable, and even the patrons were interesting and friendly. I missed this place as soon as I left Seattle...hell, I missed this place as soon as I walked out of it. We'll be reunited someday though, sigh.

There are so many facets of this fine establishment worth mentioning that even by picking one at random you would be sending yourself into a whirlwind of keystrokes dicing and slicing vocabulary never heard from your own tongue once before, because after drinking any of the fine Bourbons on the shelf or relishing in the bacon wrapped meatloaf, you'll have a new experience so crisp and right you won't want to use the same words to describe how unnecessary this review is to simply say "The Whiskey Bar is a legit spot."

I love scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch. My friends and I went to this place as we were in the mood for whiskey and we thought - why not the Whisky Bar? We've never been before but I think it's safe to assume there is whiskey there. Turns out, they have whiskey. It's kind of a dingy place, no real charm. Stuck somewhere between an Irish Pub and a college bar. Not quite sure. The bartenders were nice and knowledgeable, but for a 'whiskey bar', I've seen better and more extensive lists. I'm a scotch drinker and wasn't particularly impressed with the list here. So...eh. Just a-ok in my book.

I came here with my boyfriend and a few friends after leaving an incredibly loud Kells on Saturday night. We had no idea where to go, but my friend came across Whisky Bar online on her phone and we thought we'd give it a go. It was full of people so it took awhile to get a seat, but it was a good crowded, not a "oh my god get me out of here I can't even move" crowded. They have a pool table, although we didn't play. I don't care for whiskey/whisky (and I don't know the difference), but it seemed like they had quite a selection. I wasn't familiar with a lot of the beers on tap but went with a Seattle lager that was pretty decent. The bartenders were friendly and the atmosphere was fun and laid-back. I don't make it out to this area all that often, but I'd think about heading out again for this place!

What a gem!!! Wish we had a whiskey bar like this in San Diego. Great wood detail from the floor, bar, and paneling to amazing cocktails.JEFF has taken great pride in this bar and knows his shit. What a great bartender and joy to speak to. I had a vodka and lemon juice. Which is fresh pressed at time of order! i haven't had this at most bars! Great open windows at the front of the bar to just sit and watch bellltown peeps. We loved it and would recommend to friends.

I went here after a movie at the Cinerama with a group of friends. Didn't know what to expect since we were just looking for a place to hang out and have a drink. I have to say the place is nice and the staff is fantastic. We even let the guy getting our drinks in on a few of our jokes. I will be back next time I get to the area.

Arrived at noon today to try various Whiskys after reading Wine Spectator's latest issue which mentions this bar and features (of course) whiskey. I'm more of a wine drinker and typically not a fan of whiskey or scotch. Our bartender, Luke, was friendly, patient and shared his knowledge with us - helping us to determine our different preferences. I think I do...I do like Whiskey! They have a great selection of various whiskey and scotch. It was a fun thing to do on a Saturday. Next door is a restaurant where you can bring food over, Kabob. Hubby and I shared a hamburger (very average) and chicken quesadilla (better than the hamburger). I would love to see this place have a few snacks tailored for whiskey - maybe a cheese platter, nuts, etc? We'll be back!

Traipsing around downtown Seattle, soaking wet, no plans, and with a couple of hours to kill before we could check into our motel, I remembered this place, where I'd been a couple of times a few years ago, and the Whisky Bar mission was ON. Remember back when we could somehow find things without smartphones? Yeah, me either. But as luck would have it, we were mere blocks away, with a brutal dirt thirst, a credit card, and seeking somewhere to dry off for a bit. A hop-skip later, and we settled into a tiny table in the window, greeted by a super friendly 'tender. Walking in, it was like the dark storm clouds cleared and a beam of light shone down on the menu of damn near 300 kinds of sweet stuff. Dear, God, help us. Nothing on the cocktail menu really jumped out at me, so I asked the bartender to make me a Manhattan the way he prefers it, and it was amazing. Now, I wish I could tell you exactly what went into the magical concoction, but alas, dear reader, it was pretty much over at the first sip. Something super orange-y, some kind of fancy bitters, and he came over to pour it table side. 1.5 Manhattans later, and I was three sheets to the wind, which led to a series of accidental drunk texts to my father. 3 Manhattans later, and I was using the afore-mentioned smartphone to assault everyone I know with drunk texts, deciding it wouldn't be right to limit that to my pops. Matt E had to drag me outta there to go check into the hotel. I really, really like this place. I've never really felt at home in any Seattle bar, except for this one. Low key, rad art, impressive (several pages!) whiskey/bourbon/rye/scotch offerings, and a welcoming respite from the rain. Love it.

I entered on a Friday afternoon at 4 PM. It was Happy Hour, which starts at 2 PM, and I only wanted a well-priced pint. Now, happy hour beer prices are all over the map: $4, $4.50, $5, and having recently paid $4 at The Alibi Room, I was unprepared for what I heard when my glass, an ordinary IPA, was put before me: $5.75! Now, prices are going up all the time, but in what universe is a happy hour pint almost six dollars? That's what I get for ordering a beer in a place called "The Whisky Bar"!

  • Steve H.

Surprised by the expense of this establishment. Two beers and three food items (one of which was a $4 plate of pickles) cost us, including tip, just over $60 during happy hour. There is no happy hour for higher gravity and/or "specialty" craft beer served in tulip glasses. No happy hour food items, either. We had the $17 seared scallops (you get 3 of them - an atrocity for $17, especially here in Seattle) and the $9.50 pork belly sliders (too rich and lacking any bright flavors to lighten up a bit). Although there are a number of taps, the variety on tap was a bit lacking and the aforementioned lack of any discount on $8 to $10 non-pint pours is really an injustice to craft beer lovers here in Seattle. Service was attentive and the food was relatively tasty, however, the overall cost and lack of a true happy hour kills it. We switched to bar seating two minutes after landing in a booth because of an ergonomic nightmare (at all the booths).

First time to this bar. Amazing Whiskey, bourbon, and Scotch selection. Plus the music selection was excellent. I highly recommend.

Been here with a big group and the service was amazing, today it was me and another had many draft beer and whiskey combos with help of Jeff picking what went good with what. My favorite was hayee day with the caddy moonshine. We also tried the rarebits cheese bread. But the customer service is super!

Stopped by one night on the way to the Crocodile. The whiskey is a few dollars more per glass than other bars that I've been to in Seattle, but the selection will leave you staring in awe for quite some time.

Yeah, they've improved with time...like distilled alcohol from fermented grain mash of the highest quality. The new additions to the staff complement the existing efficient crew, and the bathroom got a little more tape and paint. Mike at the door gets props for being calm & collected during crazy moments, even on NYE...unlike 98% of Belltown bouncers.

This place is a must do in Seattle. Chipp, the bartender is AMAZING. He made us feel very welcome, looked out for us, and remembered us the next night :). Tip him well, he deserves it. He also has plenty of stories to share and a FABULOUS 90's playlist that should be played every night!!!!! We will be back.

So happy you moved across the street from my front door! I always look for Mike and Liam when i go there. Great staff catering to every type of Belltowner there is. Food is so good! Ps Expect the Misfits or Danzig to be playing.

I have to give this one star, since it is a Dive bar. But, I personally like Dive bars. This is most likely a late night stop for you, as you roam downtown looking for a convenient place to drop in and grab a hard alcohol drink.

I was not impressed by the Whisky Bar. We were here last night with a couple friends and the prices were ridiculous. The bar was small, and the bartenders wouldn't serve to the tables; you had to go order at the bar yourself. I had a glass of wine, the boys each had a beer and my friend had the Fiesta Cocktail. Which was not a fiesta at all. It had dry vermouth, apple brandy and light rum and it was one of the worst things I've ever tried. It tasted like rubbing alcohol. So she asked for some grenadine in it to see if that might help make it more drinkable. Nope, no chance. So we abandoned the drink, and finished our beers and wine. By the way, their menu said they had a rose, but when I ordered it they didn't have it, so I had to order a pinot grigio instead. Finally, the bartender brought our friend a sprite so she could dump some of the cocktail into that and at least sort of drink it. She said it was still pretty bad. I understand that liquor is not cheap, but if it's obvious that your customer is not happy with a drink, why wouldn't you try to do something for them? The bartender waited until the rest of us were finished to even brink over the soda. I don't think I'll be back.

The joint was a better bet when they had their all organ-meat menu; as it is now, the food options -- a variety of small plates -- is no big deal. Happy hour bargains can be had, but they end quickly and don't really apply to Whisky Bar's best selections, which, presumably, is what you're there for. At least, I hope so. The owner is a sport, but the real reason you should stop by is for the first-tier selection of whiskeys, Scotches, bourbons, and other brown liquors. It's not the best in the city, but it's near as dammit, and it's served the way you want it by a crackerjack staff. The best sips are pricey, though, and there isn't much else happening here aside from the excellent supply of booze, so if that's what you want, go crazy; if you want anything other than that, keep walking around Belltown for wider options.

Brrrr Seattle you're cold! But good thing you have The Whisky Bar to warm me up!!! The array of whisky selections made me little dizzy BUT everything I drank was nice and stiff !! The prices seemed to be similar to L.A. so I didn't mind since I was nice and toasty inside!

Art dejour with ambiance to spare! This is a hopping place so grab seating when you see it, and don't expect table service late night when it's busy. Enjoy the art as well, as the drinks aren't the only items of quality there. Finally, the whiskey shots are quite generous, which is good being the namesake. :-)

WOW... You walk in the door and there are so many whiskey and scotch options that my friends had to drag me out of this place. Amazing selection and the fact that every bartender there has a great knowledge and opinion of each drink. The atmosphere was very relax and the patrons were very approachable. Overall we had a fantastic time with good drinks and great people to start the evening out. We will definitely return.

Great bar for any whiskey lover! We stopped in for a drink and ended up staying over two hours. They have a really great selection of whiskey and great bartenders. Benjy was our bartender and he was awesomet--very honest, friendly and shared great recommendations on whiskey drinks. All our drinks--two cocktails, two fireball shots, neat basil hayden's, whiskey sour--were absolutely delicious! All the bartenders were very attentive to all the customers, even those sitting at the tables. We will definitely come back when we are back in town.

The Whiskey Bar is beautiful, all grown up, and moved next door to Spa Noir! It's so lovely to share a building with these great people, and even better to have great cocktails and AWESOME Brussels sprouts right next door! The new location is just gorgeous and the welcoming vibe you get from Jeff (bartender) Liam (muscle) and the owners is very special. This is one of the places that keep Belltown unique and wonderful!

Whisky Bar is an awesome little Belltown gem that I've managed to breeze by far too many times. If I still worked downtown, I'm pretty sure I'd find a way to make it a regular stop on my Friday ride home. It manages to ride the line between hipster swank and dive, with the low light and natural wood interior giving it a run-down cool, but features a beer selection that runs the gamut from tall boys to 8oz pours of pricey, hard-to-find micros. The bar staff were laid back but on the spot with clean glasses and fresh pours, keeping up with a constantly shifting crowd as the day transitioned from happy hour drinkers to people settling in for the night. I would have been more than happy to settle in myself and put away a few more glasses of the seasonal Southern Tier Choklat Stout, but the Whisky Bar was but one stop in many for the evening. We'll see what other treats they have on tap the next time I'm in. And oh yes, there will be a next time...

Oh show me the way to the next Whiskey Bar.... Oh, don't ask why, oh don't ask why... From the album "The Doors", (their first one) track 5... I had to throw that out there. After a hard night of it, I now know what its like to feel like Jim Morrison for a 24 hour period... The Whiskey Bar receives a score of 5 stars, the place was sweet...It gave off a great vibe, live music, good crowd, and obviously they had a bouillabaisse of whiskey available. And I got into that night with Mr. Makers Mark, I challenged him on several issues and in the end I realized that he is the Boss. I learned acceptance of this via feeling like I was knocking on death's door the following day. The pinnacle of one of the worst hangovers I have ever had in my life was an emergency I-90 pullover which had to be coordinated in a two-vehicle caravan fashion in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, Fire Road Exit 38 that paralleled the Snoqualmie River. My friend SG took the for action and radio-ed ahead to the lead vehicle requesting / directing the caravan perform an emergency pull off at the next exit. After SG pulled off the highway (we were vehicle #2 which did I mention the rental car was in my name but I was in no capacity to drive...) I stumbled thru the dirt path which looked like some sort of fishing spot or camp area, fell to my hands and knees and had an extremely painful session of it gripping the grass between my fingers... though it did provide some temporary relief and I could see the light at the end of the tunnel afterwards. However comma, while I was dry heaving I was thinking to myself this is an extremely beautiful setting, the Snoqualmie river was rushing by me, and we were on our way to a two day musical rock event at The Gorge Amphitheatre... So there were elements of excitement and anticipation... When I was done I walked down to the river and washed my face and hands in the crystal clear water of the river, the caravan got back on the road and continued the adventure. The following day I was actually able to laugh about this experience... We actually revisited the site on the way back from our musical event 2 days later to take a picture - to fully capture and remember the experience... Pictures have been added (1 taken during hangover at the campsite, 2 to document the location, 1 mimic the position I was in 2 days prior to...) It was the most epic throw up experience of my life, which ties back to The Whiskey Bar. To be in the worst form of your life, I was in top form. Thank you for your time.

Macallan flight for under $17? I think I'll have two! Such an amazing deal for such a great scotch. I really like the vibe here. Place has a cool layout where everyone kind of circles the main bar, but no one is ever in the way. Cool setup for sure. Highlight of my night though wasn't the Macallan (cause it's always a highlight), it was some MO-RON coming up to the bar and asking what kinds of rum they had. HELLO!! You are in a place called the Whisky Bar, and aren't going to drink some form of whisky? Like I said, mo-ron. As long as they keep the Macallan well stocked, I'll be back again and again!

Let's get this out in the open right now: I don't like whiskey. Which is dumb, I really should. I live on the Hill. I own flannel. I wear party dresses with boots and drink PBR. Whiskey should technically slide neatly right into my whole existence. So when my friend's friend was in town, staying at the Westin, it was with some trepidation that I suggested we head to Whisky Bar for our drinks. On arrival I immediately felt comfortable with the dark & beat-up booths and the smiling beardy bartender. The beer list was quite impressive, with a nice selection of sours as well as more traditional options, and the whiskey list was monstrous. I eased in with a gin & ginger - "Ginger beer or ginger ale?" asked the bartender - and was pleased to have the option. Unfortunately, they were something like $6.50 a pop, which is frankly extortion regardless of the use of ginger beer instead of ale. I resent prices like that just because a place happens to be in Belltown. The friend's friend was intrigued by the Hibiki, a 12 yr blended (by Suntory), and decided to give it a whirl. I decided to be brave and take a sip - and oh my god, maybe I do like whiskey. It tasted like cacao nibs, with just a hint of smoke, and was smooth from start to finish. I did not want to die. It was quite a new experience. I drank about half of it - sorry friend, but next time don't order things I want. So four stars, Whisky Bar, despite your highway robbery prices. A place that can change my mulish mind about whiskey is a place that deserves high marks.

I've been a fan of this place since finding it early this year. Since then they've moved to their new location and it's even better with more room and a bigger menu. Not only do they have a great whisky selection but they have a great set of craft brews on tap. And I've always had great service even when they were packed. I'd recommend you check it out when you're downtown.

Good selection of craft beers. Although I couldn't find an IPA hoppy enough for my taste, the bartender went above and beyond trying to help. Excellent brussel sprouts!

Dive bar that gets pretty packed - blend of locals and tourists given the proximity to downtown - everyone has a good time here. Cozy booths line the perimeter - hard to come by during peak hours. V. limited seating due to a large central bar. Convenient location, one of the few dives close to downtown district.

Really like the new location. They often have a bagpipe player on Friday nights, which is fun if a bit loud! I'm not a fan if their food but their drinks are the bomb!

Hit the Whisky Bar after some Serious Pie! Needed a cocktail and I love whiskey, so perfect! The selection of whiskeys was far beyond that of anything I've ever seen. I work in a bourbon bar and we feature over 60 different bourbon/whiskey/scotches which is a lot, but this was phenominal! Soooo much whiskey, so little time.... The bartenders were extremely knowlegable and engaging. Great drinks. Great service. Great time.

Cheers to am amazing list of rotating taps. Here's to bartenders who know how to make an old fashioned and to a scene which isn't too loud or to quiet. Let's raise a glass to the scent of Mediterranean food wafting in from next door and which you can enjoy with a glass of bourbon. Whisky bar does it right.

I wish to goodness we had taken a copy of their drink menu. I also wish this place was within walking distance of our house. Or maybe it's a good thing it isn't, 'cause we'd go broke trying all of the amazing scotches. We really, really loved this place, but must point out we saw a mouse run across the floor during our visit. Even with that, the Whisky Bar deserves 5 stars.

  • Thai D.

They have an awesome selection of bourbon. And that's all you really need to know about this place. (they also have a good pool table and cool art on the walls that changes every few months) Ok, you also might want to know to bring cash, because they don't take credit cards. They do have an ATM machine, if you're a sucker who likes paying 3 dollar surcharges. I did learn something last night when I went. Don't drink Booker Noe's on a work night. It'll wreck you. Whoooo!!!

  • Sara L.

This may be premature, as I only went there for the first time last night and got a very usual drink (makers and gingerale).... but I think I could love this place. The bartender was awesome and took the time to talk to my boyfriend about what he wanted, though he ended up not being too adventurous in the end, and even came by our booth later as he was leaving to see how we were liking things. Not sure if I would want to hang out at this place on a crowded weekend night, because I'm just not much for crowded bars, and really enjoyed the chill atmosphere the Thursday night brought in. Drink prices were what you would expect at a whisky bar.. not sure what our tab came out to but my eyes did not bug-out when I looked at the drink menu. I will be here again and again.

Your initial impressions of the Whiskey Bar might be that it looks like a hard core dive bar, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. The real truth is, well, it's a whiskey bar. Yep - this place has one of the best selections of fine scotch, bourbon, and whiskey. They also have a great selection of beer - most of it (at least the last time i was there) was Maritime Pacific, which makes me happy because I'm a Ballardite. When you walk in, the bar and the whiskey is in the center of the room, with booths surrounding the walls (which usually have some very interesting prints on the wall). There is also a nice patio of those rare nice Seattle days (shh, don't tell anyone).

The Whisky Bar is, bottom line, a good time if you're looking for one. The drinks are poured heavy, they fresh-squeeze their citrus, and service is speedy and with a smile. Chipp, Robb, Jeff, and Luke are world-class (read: they know their sh*t) and, while regulars and generally pleasant people are rewarded with their knowledge of all-things-alcohol and the occasional hug, people who order things like JagerBombs or Red Bull and Vodka will probably get some attitude for ordering frat drinks instead of real drinks. People complain about it, but really they just don't need anyone in there who is actively trying to binge drink. People also can complain about the service. Well, if you come in on a Saturday night when a show is happening at the Moore, you can expect to wait. If you get rude, they'll kick you out. That's that. If you come in and the bar's not packed and they don't get to you because they're talking to someone at the bar, just give them a wave, or get into their sightline to nod them down - just like any bar. They'll apologize for ignoring you. They have local art on the walls at all times (switching the artists out every third Thursday), a cigarette machine, dollar pool (sometimes you have to be aggressive to get the larger groups off the one table), outside seating (it will be full of smokers, non-smokers beware), and a KILLER eatery attached. Kebab. Cheap, fast (most of the time - especially if Shannon is working), and really... really... very good food. Good people too. Lots of regulars, but also a good helping of new-to-the-city-folk who are just looking for a Seattlite to talk to who won't ignore them or passively-aggressively respond.

NO BITCH DRINKS SON! I was aimlessly roaming Seattle, wanted some whisky and what do I see? "whisky bar" nice nice how convenient. My brother just turned 21 so I had to hook him up with a shot of CROWN ROYAL XR. BOMB STUFF BTW. Our bar ninja Robb was a cool dude I give him mad props for educating my brother about drinks and being swift on the drinks. Super good service! The bar was really clean the people were nice. If I ever swing by Seattle again I know where to go. THANKS ROB!

Nice little place, not horrible for some live music, but damn, the mixed drinks were WEAK. I arrived borderline drunk and was totally sober after two drinks and one hour later. Wtf? : ( Still, it was good service, a nice mix of people, and hey! Water out of a Brita pitcher! : )

Rob, the surly waiter, was just that. I ordered two beers, so I can't say anything about how they pour a drink. I liked the beer they served, and the ambiance was great. Too bad about the bordering on rude service.

Best drink, stay away from this place...... Unless you want the best drink in Seattle. Unless Tommy has made you a drink, you haven't had the best cocktail of your life. He's super knowledgable, very personable, and easy on the eyes. Tell him what you are in the mood for and he will blow your mind! Tourists and locals alike will like this place. Try it, you will like it.

"Do you like balsamic vinaigrette?" Not exactly the question I was expecting when I asked what a beer tastes like.... However, I am the adventurous type and so what the heck? I tried it anyway. I immediately knew what he meant. Such a explosion of sweet, fruity flavors with an intense sour finish. It was just missing the salad! The Duchesse de Bourgogne is my new favorite flemish red ale. I know I know, I fail for not trying a whiskey in a whiskey bar. But with over 300+ selections how could I choose? So I opted to leave it up to the bartender. I told him to pour me a shot of something he has never tried before. He looked at me, smiled, and went immediately to get his little ladder. Up to the top he reached. Pulled down a scotch actually. Dalwhinnie 15 year. Neat with a drop of water. Perfect. As always my palette intensified with the flavor. But surprisingly there were hints of vanilla and honey and went to a more citrus finish followed by smoky glaze. Me thinks I struck Scottish gold. The bar wasn't crowded and there was a lot of random regulars who came in and went as they pleased. I enjoyed my time here and will be back for more adventures.

I had a good time at this bar. Granted it was a while back.. but who beats CHEAP beer? Their PBR at Happy Hour is almost free! The scene is a little divey (which I like) and the location is perfect in case you get hungry or decide to bar hop. I can't think of anything negative to say... if you like greasers, tall boys and dim-lit bars that may or may not be totally gross when the lights turn on.. then this is your new fav downtown bar!

We came here because we wanted to have a drink after walking through the market. This place is a good distance away from the crowded market area and was almost empty until our large group came in. We spent some time here just hanging out and our waiter was a laid back nice guy. We came here on a Saturday afternoon so the place was alright. It's a great place to hang out I'm sure at night and it hit the spot for us when we came here. I did not actually try any whiskey as I'm not a whiskey drinker.

The Whisky Bar is a favorite of mine. I fell in love with it before I liked Whisky, and now I accidently like whisky so the love is redoubled. The tenders at the bar know their whisky -- as well as a good mother knows her child. I now realize I prefer a peaty whisky from the lowlands. The crowd is always friendly, I had great converstaions there without any of the akwardness one finds at a bar. A few things to know before going: -If you are not a totally cool cat, you won't enjoy or fit in -Is most enjoyable on a sunday afternoon -Has greatness either in the sunshine on the patio or inside at the bar if it's cold out -Changing art on the wall (local?) means something always new -Is least enjoyable right after a show at the Moore gets out Try it out!

It's very casual place, but somehow homey. You can find very different crowd of people there. Feels very British. Regarding the drinks, I'm a bourbon fan. Had some delightful drinks there. All in all, I'll go with my buddies for a fun Friday unwinder.

So there's a serious wait over at Serious Pie...what to do? Any recommendations? How about Whiskey Bar! Yes, by pure happenstance we found ourselves at this chill spot. I'm not a whiskey-guy myself, but my bf is. Thankfully they had a selection of cocktails that feature the strong stuff, but add the sweet and citrus to make it go down smooth. Good drinks at a good price...what more can you ask for on a whim? (Oh, and the featured art on display is cool!)

Whiskey Bar used to be awesome with one of the best happy hours around; however, things have changed in the past couple months. Higher prices and shitty happy hour are not what I expect from a Belltown dive bar. Oh, and the "restaurant" in the Whiskey Bar - "Kebab" - doesn't serve kebabs. WTF??? Note to new owners: If it's not broke, don't fix it.

  • Squanchy S.

Great bar! There were so many single malts to choose from I was overwhelmed! John, our bartender, was extremely helpful in helping us decide what new flavors to enjoy for the night. Between me and my buddy, we had 13 pours of really good stuff. I will definitely visit any time I'm in Seattle!

We had $10 scotch, and the bartender poured the equivalent of a triple pour. Very generous with drinks, fun atmosphere (a pool table, small booths along the side, plenty of bar seating). Will remember to return in the future.

I love me some dive bars. Can't stand pretension and don't want to overhear a conversation, get stuck in a conversation, or hang around in the same place with people who would have a conversation about their boyfriend's fat wallet, their tanning salon, or their dog and constant sidekick Muffy. More power to them if they are happy, but it doesn't wash away the stresses of my day. A dive bar does. This place offered up what is considered essential: dark lighting and people, cheap beer, pool, angry music. Their has to be other benefits to make it 5-stars, right? Paintings of half to completely naked and righteous ladies toting guns should do it. Straight or gay, you feel sexy and vicious in their presence. There is also the inexplicable that makes you love this bar. Your heart feels it, but your head has difficulty conveying it. If I find a good bar, I will be its loyal patron for life, but that has not happened in Austin. It did, however, happen in my future home town. I went to Whisky Bar three times in one trip, forsaking my "try it all" credo on that four-day visit .

When we came in, we were struck by the variety of liquor and beer - seriously, this place is like a library of booze. We took a seat at the long bar - generic rock music blaring in the background. The bartender, a surly, sweaty, bitter-looking type, reluctantly hauled himself to where we were sitting. "It's happy hour, right?" I inquired. This was greeted by a nonchalant shrug and a smirk while he walked away. "What a douche" I said to my wife. She agreed, only for the bartender to return with a couple of menus, slapping them down in front of us. He reamed off a list of discounted drinks at breakneck speed. Barely able to comprehend what he was mumbling, we chose our drinks (an IPA and a glass of white wine) while he listlessly gazed at the ceiling. "Looks like he spent the night getting wasted and didn't want to come into work today" my wife whispered to me. It certainly seemed that way - or maybe Mr. Bartender had a general animosity towards customers that the resident hipsters of Belltown dismiss as "character." Anyway, we stayed for one drink - we didn't feel very welcome. I imagine the place gets pretty buzzing in the evenings, so it might be a good place to come as a group. Or not.

"Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go I wanna be sedated Nothin' to do and no where to go-o-oh I wanna be sedated." Well, this is definitely a place to go and a place to get close to being sedated. Came here on a Friday night and the DJ was playing great music. It was packed and the drinks were flowing. The bartender was definitely on point and keeping up with the requests. Pool game going on in the back. Plenty of diverse people to keep you occupied people watching (anything from college kids to head to toe tattooed and pierced people)! This wasn't the first time I've been to the place and definitely won't be the last!! One word of caution... If you are going to use a card vs cash, they have a $10 dollar minimum. No worries, shot of whiskey or bourbon and a beer.. You'll definitely be to that minimum with no problem!!

  • Shu Z.

I'm a big whiskey fan so this was a great find for me, this place has maybe the best selection of whiskey in the city; I think the bartender said 270. The bartender was friendly and knowledge and sounded like he's tried just about all 270 whiskeys they stock plus more, possibly several times over. The space has a nice divey and unpretentious feel about it that seems to draw an easy going and down to earth crowd who're pretty easy to start conversations with. Whiskey prices are a bit on the high side.

Hum, perhaps I don't know what a dive bar is, but I didn't think this place was that bad. As a single girl you wouldn't walk in there probably, but a mixed group of guys and gals would work fine. I'm not a whiskey drinker (I can't even spell it), but the menu was fascinating. The weather was great, so our group sat outside - not bad I have to say... Got a bar hoping group, don't mind something a little ragged, stop by. Disclaimer - I was pretty far along in my drinking, so I may be completely wrong about everything.

WOW and I haven't reviewed my Favorite Bar in Seattle for exactly WHAT Reason?? Well sum it up to a Momentary Lapse of Reason. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this bar. I fell in love the first time I read their Whiskey Menu. That's right an entire menu dedicated to Whiskey! I live 30 minutes away from it and yet I find it the best place to be on a Wednesday Night. I find it to be a comfortable, enjoyable place to be to listen to live music (Jazz) and sip a good whiskey neat. I haven't been there lately but it used to be Cash only and I assume that it still is. There is interesting Art on the walls from local Artists. It has a very diverse crowd and this is one of the few places in Seattle I recommend to people who aren't from the area and want a good place to go for drinks. The bartender was just as happy in helping me find a good whiskey to try as he was in helping everyone else who stepped up to the rather crowded bar. This isn't swanky or pretentious or many of the other words I typically use to describe Seattle establishments. It is just a darn good place to get your drink on!

Been here a number of times; in fact, it is one of the places I always take people visiting from out of town. The atmosphere is good (though it can get a bit loud at times) and the selection can't be beat.

I love it here. Last time i was there, tthere was a fellow playing the bad pipes which was awesome! Always lots of good drinks to choose from and food too. I recommend the brussel sprouts.

I was staying nearby in Belltown and decided to stop on in after seeing it late one night. On the outside it looks like a dive bar. This is NOT a dive bar despite the fact that it looks like it could be a grimey pub from the outside. Once you get inside, you realize that you have stumbled upon a reasonably classy joint, but not so pretentious that your grungy friends will run away. The best part of the whole experience here was the bartenders. These guys know what they are talking about and make sure your drink was perfect. Fresh juice, combined with an awesome attitue and straight up skill make these guys the real gem of the place. The whisky menu is pretty extensive as the name would suggest, but I was much more interested in their creative cocktails. Whisky and rye cocktails are rarely the centerpiece of any bar's menu. This place was able to pull of whisky cocktails that were not too sweet, which is regritably common, and where you could actually enjoy the drink without just taking it for the team and shooting it. So when I return to Seattle, Whisky bar is on the top of my list of places to go.

Fantastic bar! Definitely one of my favorites so far. GREAT liquor selection topped off with friendly and masterful bartenders. I ordered up my typical drink which is a Dark and Stormy. I've had loads of them from all over, but I can say beyond doubt that the best one I've ever had was from Whiskey Bar. My gf had ordered a Hot Toddy and despite myself feeling averse about warm alcoholic drinks, it was great! Prices were fair, as well. 10 bucks if I recall correctly for my Dark and Stormy which is about average, maybe slightly above average for what I've paid before. Though, 10 bucks for a drink of that caliber was money well spent. The theme inside the bar is dark and moody which can be a bit offputting for some, but I liked it enough. It was definitely dark though. I will absolutely come back to Whiskey Bar multiple times without hesitance.

Great bar. Excellent professional bartenders. Knowledgeable about a large % of their huge selection. Food was above avg for a bar. had the grilled romaine salad and fish and chips. They get the fish from the famous fish market so... yup its fresh. only minor point is that they show the Pappy on the on-line menu but don't have it. With the surge in bourbon popularity in general and Pappy in particular its forgivable for sure but was still a bit disappointed. Overall if you are in the area (and many of the better hotels have free shuttle service) its worth stopping in. Even if you don't care for this place there appear to be many other dining / drinking options in the area.

If you like whiskey, then this is a must. Bar has the largest selection of whiskey I have ever seen. From the dirt cheep to the top shelf. And the staff know there whiskey if you have any questions, they are happy to explain the differences. Beer selection is nice to.

I came here on a Sunday night for happy hour with a friend. I really enjoyed my cider that I ordered, but unfortunately, there was no happy hour discount for it. I believe it was $6 which is an OK price. My friend's beer was discounted a $1 or so. We were planning on eating there, but when we arrived at 4:45 pm there was no cook. We chatted another hour or so and there was still no cook. In addition, we found out that the $3 off food during happy hour that was advertised on their website was not actually applicable, so all the food was regular price. Even though the cook showed up near the tail end of our time there, we decided to hop on over to Umi's which was a great decision.

The service was a bit lack-luster one out of the two nights we went there. Huge selection of whiskeys and the room was pretty chill. I didn't try the food but I wouldn't trust it. All around it was a good local bar and great for a pre-dinner drink or a nightcap.

4 stars for the Scotch, bartenders and bagpipes ... 1 (or zero) stars for the deviled eggs ... just don't order them; I had to spit my first (and only) bite out (I can't think of a time that I've actually had to do that) ... nasty, salty, fusty taste. Will definitely be back for libations, but next time on a full stomach!

An English pub style bar with delicious "potato fries" and a track of high school throwbacks - great place to be on a Friday night. Lots of booths and tables and great ambience, quick service and a nice bar snack menu. Everyone was super nice and I would definitely come back. The back sitting area has a cozy fireplace but sits up against the kitchen and the smells weren't super appealing. Not sure why...pickled something or fish and chips maybe. Didn't enjoy that so much.

Such great food! Relaxed atmosphere with good music, epic food. My boyfriend and I were starving, so we split the whiskey burger, the pulled pork sliders and the stuffed jalapeños. Sooo good! Reasonably priced, great cocktails, friendly service. A little slow getting the food out, but once you start eating it you realize that level if excellence takes more than 7 minutes to create. Very worth it.

The only reason I'm giving this bar a one star is because of the bartenders. They were pretentious, rude and pushy. I do not appreciate a bartender slamming his hand on the bar in front of me demanding for my drink order when I didn't even ask for one. I will not be coming back anytime soon, nor will I recommend to anyone.

(Visiting from SF) - Simply put.......Outstanding. Excellent selection, good service by servers who know their Whiskey and beer pairings. I ordered a beer, and told the server to get me a shot that would be smooth and match the beer properly, and keep it under 15.00. DONE!!! The pairing worked, and my alcohol happiness meter went vertical. 3 different beers, 3 different shots, all paired perfectly. This was the way to nightcap and evening. I know my beers, but am fairly new to whiskey, bourbon, rye and scotch. If you are like me, try this place. tell them straight up, you don't know your whiskey and let them match it up. you shouldn't be sorry, I wasn't. Do not let the exterior looks deceive you. this is not a dive bar. Even the bouncer was cool. Recommendation: DO IT!!!!!

I was a little disappointed because this place has a good craft beer selection and a phenomenal Bourbon selection, but the wait staff was understaffed. After one round of drinks the waiter-bartender never came back for our food order. I asked the busboy if the kitchen was open and he said "Should be".

This bar is a classic English Pub style, but it is a little pricey for the Belltown area. Of course, it is a whiskey bar which shouldn't deter the avid scotch drinker. It boasts an excellent selection of single malts. It can get a bit crowded on the weekends which makes for a fighting the heard feel, so I suggest getting their early

This is a great place to hang out for Happy Hour or late night with a group of friends. At times, it gets pretty crowded, but that's all part of the fun as the atmosphere is upbeat without being overbearing and the place still feels like its in its own little world away from the downtown scene. The drink menu is very extensive with a long list of various types of whiskey (obviously) along with so many other options to choose from, you will definitely find something you like. If you like this place enough and want to take home a souvenir, feel free to purchase a t-shirt straight out of the vending machine right by the door! Located just on the Belltown side of downtown and just blocks from the shopping district, The Whisky Bar is a great place to hang out for a few drinks and lots of fun times.

I give this place one star only because the owner was drunk, belligerent and creepy. He was a perfect storm of "I love you, man!" and "Who the eff are you?!?" and "Hey who's that girl you're with?" At one point I thought the bartenders were going to kick him out of his own bar. He kept trying to get us (or the girl I was with) to come up to his private office. Too much whiskey I suppose. On the other hand, the bar is great. They have a pool table. The people are often fun.

Hit up the Whisky Bar during a recent visit to Seattle and was pleased with the place. Believe it or not, they've got a LOT of whisky. Great selection of Scotch, Japanese Whiskies, and U.S. Bourbon and Rye. Pretty much everything I knew of or liked was there, including the just released Woodford Reserve Rye. Though they didn't have Pappy, there are other places that sell this and I bought the bartenders explanation that they didn't carry Pappy because the distributor would then force them to carry/not carry certain other brands. No problem. I didn't get to try the food though I heard two other patrons say their meals were very good. Looking at the menu, I felt it a bit strange for the Whisky bar and not fare I would like to eat with my whisky. Probably could use a few more suitable appetizers. The bar is inviting and clean with one huge TV for sports but didn't give off a sports bar vibe and had a separate quiet seating area away from the bar and tv. The bartenders were unpretentious and helpful. I'll definitely hit it up again for a few whiskies on a future trip.

Came here to take advantage of the happy hour special, and got to sit down with the two owners (Kelly and Colin) and the bartender (Jeff) who were all gracious and amazing, chatting up a group of Asian guys at the bar. =) Super chill location with a great selection of whiskeys that goes beyond trying to list them out. Their food is above average, but it's about the liquid selections here. Jeff was a master of his craft and held a high standard in what he served. Saw him redo a drink from scratch when the final product didn't look perfect. Great new location and great drinks. Definitely a stop that should be anyone's list.

A great bar with broad selection of draft and bottled beers and whiskeys. We sat at the bar and were served very well by the bartender. He's a master of his craft, we just followed his advice on what to order and it was great.

Great selection of Whiskys - We had the bartender make us a selection for a tasting, personally tailored to our taste (and budget). He was well informed about what he poured. Has a upscale pub feeling. Downsides was the bartender was the only employee (understaffed) and it was not the cleanest bar. Overall my impression is positive and I would return.

Great beer selection, the food list is simple and specific to the setting---Welsh rarebit is delicious w. a kick of spice, and the Brussels sprouts deserve a medal! Interior and art hits the spot. Whisky selection is top-notch (which is to be expected). Weekdays after work are perfect at The Whisky Bar. Civilized noise level. Knowledgable, considerate, and prompt service.

The Whisky Bar seems to have grown up, buckled down, and gotten a job. With his recent move to a block north of their old corner location, the Whisky shed years of smoke, grunge, noise, and battered furnishings. Depends on what you're looking for, as to whether that is good or bad. Me, I was immediately impressed as I walked up the street: Whisky has grown handsome in his adult age. The inside was handsome too, though it felt like not only did Whisky ditch the skin-tight tattered black Levis and Misfits hoodie, he also went on a bit of a shopping spree at Macy's. The interior has tons of lovely dark wood, a long bar, tables and booths, and a sectioned-off area good for group gatherings and the whisky tastings now held at Whisky Bar. No longer a cramped dive, Whisky now maintains the countenance of a medium-sized, grown-up bar. We attended on a Thursday night, so naturally it wasn't as raucous as the Whisky of yore, but the overall atmosphere was a bit more generic. The music was at a tolerable level, and consisted of tons of 80s and 90s alternative hits from Harvey Danger to The Violent Femmes. Rather than being hidden behind the cramped shelves of the old Whisky, the bottles are now arrayed on spacious shelves which stretch the length of the bar and up to the tall ceiling. We started with a round of Laphroaig Triple Wood at $18 a glass, and added in some food shortly after. The potato fritters with curry ketchup were good, not too memorable. The Beef Stout Pot Pie, however, was quite memorable. On the small side for $14, but it was phenomenally delicious. Choosing to traverse the globe of whiskys, I had s glass of Suntory Yamazaki Japanese single-malt, and a friend bought a round of Caol Ila, which led Jeff, the Bar Manager, to come visit our table. He was running low on Caol Ila and offered a tall pour of Blackadder Raw Cask instead, for the man buying the round. Both were terrific, especially the Blackadder: it's unfiltered so a bit of peat floats around the bottom of the bottle. As Jeff said, you get a solid punch in the nose from this drink. Jeff chatted with us for quite a while, explaining the crazy lengths he has to go in order to get these rare whiskys, hence the shortage of the Caol Ila. Jeff also told us about the next whisky tasting, which will sample a few top-notch selections for $20, which is a steal. Later, I chose from a list of extra-strength Belgian beers to wind down the night. My one biggest gripe? The wooden caps on the tops of the booths' seats stick out too far, making it impossible to lean back comfortably in the booth. Totally fixable. On the whole, a great experience. Not at all like my memories of the OG Whisky, but a great experience nonetheless.

The Whisky Bar reminds me of an East Village New York bar. Great settings with ever changing art work from local artist on the walls. The beer is always fresh. Best nights to go are Friday & Saturday when the Dj plays all the best punk & Brit pop. Sundays great live music. This place NOW excepts credit cards! You can watch live English football here.

After wandering around Seattle for a bit my fiancé and I ended up in the Whisky Bar. Huge selection of affordable whiskeys and a decent list of brews. Mike the bartender was amazing! This guy was nonstop the whole time we were there! He made outstanding recommendations for both beer and shelf liquors... He even added a few jokes!

Of all of the bars located on 2nd ave in Belltown, the Whiskey Bar is my favorite. My first few visits there were simply to meet up with some friends, but as we as sat drinking I came to realize how cool this place is. Now it is my favorite place to grab a properly priced (not cheap as they can be but not expensive either), read a book and see where the night takes you. Speaking of whiskey, they offer all the classics, some great top shelf choices and a few random selections waiting to be discovered. They also serve other types of liquor if that's more your style. The bar staff is attentive and friendly on most nights and they really do know a thing or two about whiskey. The patrons area great and I will say that I've never had as many drinks bought for me, and I've bought for them, as I've had at the Whiskey Bar. The area between the booths and the bar, which is located in the center, can get rather crowded on a Friday or Saturday night but the area in the back which has a pool table is nice and spacious if you're up for a game. The bathroom is what really gives the place a dive feel. The Whiskey Bar also is a decent place to catch a live show or listen to their DJ, and if you can grab a spot on the patio to listen, you'll most defiantly have a great time.

WHAT. I can't believe I've not written a review about Whisky. I love it here, perhaps because it's close by, but I dig the simple vibe. Good beer, simple Greek food. It's my favorite place in the city to read the stranger. It's also fun to splurge on some fancy whisky every once and again. Sorry it took so long for a review whisky bar!

Whiskey Bar was alright. Kind of interesting small bar feel. Definitely some odd tables and booths. I did like the overwhelming smell fried food pouring into the bar from the attached walk up Gyro window... I was a bit disappointed when I ordered the Tullamore Dew 12 year only to discover, nada!! Whiskey bar indeed... I was a wee bit relieved when the bar tended offered the slightly more expensive Red Breast at the Tullamore Dew price... just this one time though...so all of you reading this post don't get any craaaaazy ideas!! I may or may not be back depending on what's playing at the Moore...

The Whisky Bar has a completely new feel inside compared to last year. We stopped in recently to check it out after hearing it was "new and improved." We arrived to find some great beers on tap...Allagash White, in particular one of my favorites. The bar staff also appeared a bit more friendly than in previous visits for us and there's a new food joint next door that serves quick, cheap food ($2 quesadillas) for some late night snacks. Definitely check out Whisky Bar the next time you're in the area!

Put some whiskey in yer water! While their prices are definitely higher than other places, they redeem themselves in quality of drinks. Where else do you get a whiskey sour with freshly squeezes lemons? It's also a cool apmosphere and is a good place to go for a more chill evening.

Ah, The Whisky Bar. Love. The bartender on the weekends is amazing. So entertaining, I found myself lost in his dreamy muddling and sexy alcohol shaking. Yes, sexy. I was in line trying to decide what drink to choose when the gorgeous english woman in front of me suggested the "Whisky Smosh." Okay, Whisky Smash, but hey, she was English. SO good and very strong. He's quite the beverage master. After just one Whisky Smash-I was feeling pretty nice. Very laid back and casual. It's a little break from your everyday stresses. Whisky Bar, I love you.

Do you love getting bitchface from a bar full of creepy strangers as much as I do? You do?!?!? Then hit Whisky Bar on a Thursday night! Do you love mingling with a mix of punks, yuppies, filthy rockers, hipsters, and out-of-towners as much as me? Then Whisky Bar is all about You on a Friday night. Do you love a glass full of cheap vodka for $4 as much as I do? Then I think this could be your place every night of the week. I'm pretty sure my date ordered us vodka SODAs. I'm 100% sure there was less than 1% soda in my cup. Nice bartenders and a pretty strange combo of patrons made for interesting times. Thursday night, the bar was full of what matthew capital r insists is a special Seattle brand of filthy rockers (I couldn't agree more) and the place felt tense. Friday night there was a mix of what I described above and the vibe was less frenetic. Perhaps Thursday is a theme night? The whole bar's vibe/atmosphere/clientele confuses me but it's big, conveniently located, and we'll be back on our Seattle bar crawl weekend. Oh yeah! The patio's just for show. You can sit on it but you'd best not smoke :)

The Whisky Bar is a great, relatively inexpensive place to grab a drink. The bartender, Jeff, who works weekday happy hours is wonderful. He makes great drinks and actually cares about what he's making for you. He suggested to me a couple of different options for the drinks I had. They were all made incredibly well and very strong. I went here on a Wednesday evening so I had no troubles whatsoever with crowds, but I can see how the small ish space would get a littl eoverwhelmed. Definitely make sure you stop at this bar if you're out drinking downtown. You won't be disappointed!

Nice outdoor patio for having a few cold ones while the sitting in the sun and people watching. Good selection of beers and although I'm not a big whiskey drinker they have the goods. A couple pool tables in the back to knock the balls around. I've never eaten here or even know if they serve food. When the bands play it gets pretty loud so expect to have to yell at your friends to talk. Great bartenders, they are really helpful in selecting the right drinks to get your night on track.

Discovered this place because it's really close to my office downtown. It's in a weird no man's land right outside of belltown, which I think is a little unfair to this place. It attracts a very interesting mix of people - everyone from a few hipsters, to older couples, to a divier crowd that probably spills over from nitelight. Their selection of liquor is awesome. The bartenders are generally pretty cool and attentive - there's one that's a little snooty and gets a little huffy when you *gasp* order a mixed drink with a high quality liquor that should of course be drunk neat. This is a good standby - I like it to start an evening, but probably wouldn't make a whole night of it there.

Crusty Punk Rockers, someone who'll bang there head once or twice to the Pantera blaring in the background, some random table of older folks who looked like they had accidentally walked into the bar and one guy in a suit drinking Pabst. The suit was so fresh faced and clean cut, I asked, "Who invited the Mormon?" Werd. Some chode sitting next to me at the bar pointed at a poster on the wall and said to the bartender, "I want a pint of that!" To which she promptly said, "No." Said chode looked like he listened to a bit too much dave matthews and maybe smoked a bit too much weed as he was trying to order a pint of Jim Bean. He was either stupid...or hardcore. I think if I lived in Seattle, I would not frequent this place. As I am only a visitor, I would go back every visit for the random assortment of debauchery and stupidity.

The Whisky Bar has a great selection of single malts in addition to other whiskys. I started coming here on a semi-regular basis, trying out new single malts from time to time, and indulging in old favorites at other times. Jeff is a really nice guy who will remember you. Unfortunately I can't see myself coming back here. There was a misprint on the menu - $14 for a single malt instead of the actual price, $26. All of this is fine and well, except that when I pointed out the mistake on my check, all that was offered was to split the difference. I'm pretty easygoing and didn't want to fuss, but if it says $14 on the menu, I should only be paying $14. It seems really cheap to hold onto that $6. There are several other bars downtown and I think I'll take my business there, as much as I was beginning to really like this place.

We got here around 9 on a Saturday and it was pretty chill. There were a couple tables still open and there was some blues music playing and we thought yeah this is perfect! The bartend came over and sat with us and answered a bunch of questions I had about whisky versus scotch versus bourbon, etc... I'm normally a beer drinker but I was interested in branching out tonight. He set me up with a great 12yr MacCallan scotch that I enjoyed. My girlfriend and her friend had the uptown manhatten's which were almost too strong to drink, they sipped on those for almost two hours. At around 10 the place totally changed though, it got packed and a bunch of stumbling drunks came in and were trying to play pool and drooling over every girl that walked by. Eventually it was so loud that a conversation at a table became a shouting match. When we tried to cash out we had to ask to close the tab a few times but since the bartender was so helpful at the beginning and the place was packed I gave him the benefit of the doubt and still gave him a good tip. In conclusion... this place is weird but I kind of like it... for one drink anyway :-/

I love whisky so what a perfect bar for me. I sipped on a nicely aged Pendleton, which my gf actually thought it smelled nice (for a whisky). There's a coin operated pool table if you're into that. We bumped into new friends we hadn't seen in a few months. Cool little dive bar. Great place to chill. If I worked or lived in Seattle, I'd definitely become a regular.

I was not really impressed with the Whiskey Bar. A couple of reasons. 1. Very soft pour on the hard stuff. Anyone who knows me, will tell ya, make it strong baby. 2. They were playing guitar hero...whats next dungeons and dragons 3. Staff seem non interested in most of the patrons..even overheard the bartender tell a customer, here comes the pussy pop crowd (franz ferdinand).....FU Great location..too bad it sucks!!

Cool space, but they should seriously update their menu! Their menus are paper, is it that difficult to print a new one? They were out of just about every beer on the menu. Very frustrating experience! Out of 7 beers I tried to order, they only had 2.

I walked by this place recently and stopped immediately because it looked so nice in there. This place is SO great! It's absolutely beautiful in here, classy but not pretentious. And, the drinks couldn't be made any better! The bartender was so nice and didn't frown when I decided to have a Grey Goose martini. By the way, the cherries soaked in bourbon are really yummy. The friendly and skilled bartenders will keep you coming back for more! Highly recommend!

Awesome drinks, 90's music and bartenders. Ask for Chipp he will take care of you all night. We found this place on our first night in Seattle and there is really no comparison to the friendly atmosphere. Make sure you tip well, because when you come back they will remember your names and you will feel like family. Chipp is a yummy, 217 godd!!

This used to be my spot when I lived right down the street. Cool paintings on the wall, GREAT music, cheap drinks, good people watching. Had many good times here, met some cool people too even though being across the street from a venue, you get some strange crowds after the shows get out. Seen a live band here once or twice which is madness considering the size of the bar. Not the best for in depth convos b/c usually the music is blaring but that's fine by me when you're blasting the Murder City Devils or TSOL. Love the outdoor area, loved DJ Lance Rock who I hear doesn't work here anymore? Been back since moving and the DJ was playing Godsmack... Um... You lose a star for that. No bar that I frequent(ed) is allowed to do that...

The band was great - they were having at least as much fun as the folks gathered in the bar. Drinks were stiff enough and delivered quickly. Besides the bar seating there are lots of great little intimate booths and some larger tables for groups. Barflys patrons sat and shared laughs with us, some folks played pool in one corner. The bathroom is TOP NOTCH for a dive bar. They might have one of the more extended happy hours. It lasts from 3pm to 9pm... wow! Bouncer was a bit on the assertive/cranky side. But I guess that is his job. Whatever dude. The old guy in the band was scoring chicks left and right. Old guys rule! :)

Cool place, but man, those were the weakest pours ever. Should have stayed down the street at Nitelite.

I really, really like this bar. The workers are great, the location is even better and it's just a very comfortable place to be. I've been here tons of times, but never did a review until today. We came here Saturday night for a friend's birthday and had a fab time. We sipped whiskey, had some laughs and chummed it up with the bartender who made us some tasty signature cocktails. The Whiskey is a place I always enjoying stopping at when I'm in Belltown.

This place is really a tale of two bartenders. If you happen to get Jeff (the guy who is extremely helpful, smiles, and has awesome customer service) - then you will be having quite an enjoyable evening. It's called The Whisky Bar but they also have about a dozen rotating beer taps with mostly local beer (and good small breweries). Jeff will also help suggest a mixed drink if you are just in the mood for a particular taste but don't have something in mind. So, a great bartendar and great beer = 5 star rating for The Whisky Bar. If you happen to get the grumpy guy named Rob who can barely talk to you and seems more intent on "power tripping" to let you know he is the "Acting co-manager of the bar" than actually trying to be helpful and make the customer feel like having another one - then you start to get the feeling that maybe you should wander down the street and find another place to visit. Bad bartendar = 0 star rating for this place. I averaged the two and hence the 3 stars overall. So, go check out the awesome tap list at The Whisky Bar and bring your friends who like interesting cocktails. But when you see two guys behind the bar, steer towards the one with the pony tail (Jeff) and away from the short-haired guy (Rob). You can't mistake the two - Rob's the one who is never smiling and looks like he rather be somewhere else. If you happen to get served by Ron, you probably will rather be somewhere else too.

Something magical happens when I travel. I get me a little something that I can't get at home. No, I am not talking about trekking down to the Lusty Lady for some pasties and a g-string (and a memory that would never be washed away, no matter how hard I scrubbed). Not that I wouldn't go, mind you, but I am convinced that all of my hot shot "Oohhh, yeah, we've been to the Lusty Lady" Seattle friends who keep telling me about this place are all talk. What I am talking about it getting to go to bars that have a character reflective of that particular city. Whiskey Bar is one such place. Its rough around the edges and sort of an aged, gentrified metal bar with just enough edge to keep you drinking. Oh, and a whiskey selection that will have you enjoying Slayer in ways you never thought possible. All of this and nice bartenders. The kind that won't kick you out until you are literally passed out. No, it wasn't me. I swear.

1 star for having happy hour every night of the week until 9:00pm (even though I showed up at 10pm) 2 stars for having a good, seasonal, beer selection (even though their specialty is obviously whiskey) 3 stars for being open on Christmas Day (I plead the 5th...) yet also stringing up homemade christmas lights that included empty Jack Daniels nips and candy canes. 4 stars for giving my cash-less friend a free drink, after she finally decided to let me buy her one and inevitably ended up doing her first carbomb (without leaving a single drop to curdle!). 5-- didn't get the 5th star because even McDonald's accepts credit cards nowadays. But it was a nice gesture having an ATM in-bar.

I'll have some whiskey in a glass and some loud Misfits played on the jukebox, thanks. Why? Cause you're at the Whiskey. That's fucking why! I dropped in on this place xmas day. Angry music, 40 kinds of oak aged jet fuel, t-shirts and bad tatoos, and the wafting sent of smoked intoxicants coming from somewhere, perhaps everywhere, is the vibe of this place. Some nights this could be a five star for me. Sometimes I really need a place to go to where I can be surrounded with unwashed, ungroomed, punk as fuck, and possibly dangerous people and swill drinks with them and talk about whatever the hell comes up. This would be my perfect neighborhood bar if I lived in the neighborhood.

Do you like the band Murder City Devils? Do you like motorcycles? Do you like greasers? Do you like cheap PBR tall boys? If you answered yes to at least two of the above questions you would probably enjoy the bar. Cool blue collar bar with a hip twist to it. Worth noting these guys do cash only. They pour heavy Hard A drinks!

I'm not a whiskey guy, but the Whisky Bar fucking rocks. I wouldnt exactly call this place a dive, but it certainly was nice and low key. We had a few random whiskey drinks from their extensive menu, although I am a bit disappointed that my Billy Idol couldnt be satisfied - they were out of Rebel Yell. (and yes, I know its a crap booze). If I lived in downtown Seattle - I would most certainly become a regular of this place.

The Whiskey Bar is open in Christmas. RIGHTEOUS! Do I even need to add more to this review? Its open on Christmas people. I mean, really, what else is there to say? Alas, I will continue. The Whiskey Bar is the kind of bar you'd get drunk at and make a few bad decisions. It is small, has a crowd I can't even begin to describe (even has your resident drunk that I had the pleasure of sitting next to, thankfully he didn't smell), a great selection of snobby beers, and a bad ass bartender who gave me a free drink thus saving Sarah M. from having to buy me one. There is even a pool table with black felt and the Jack Daniels logo on it. I almost cried it was so beautiful. I have to give an honorable mention to the homemade Christmas lights that featured tiny bottles of liquor. I hope that remains up all year.

Great bar. Over 100 whiskys. Tons of strong, unique beers. Bartenders are friendly, Luke makes great drinks, and I came back two nights in a row just because of that. This place picks up as the week goes on, but if you're looking for a great mellow spot... this is it.

We stumbled upon this place on the way back to our hotel and stayed to listen to the band that was setting up when we arrived. Glad we did. And if you are a whiskey/scotch drinker, you will not be disappointed by their offerings.

I was in Seattle last summer for about three weeks. I went downtown to see a show, but I arrived much earlier than I anticipated. Conveniently located next to the venue was Whisky Bar. The minute I walked in I fell in love. Total dive. Scary regulars. Awesome oil paintings by a local artist, the collection was called "Girls and Guns", so hot. seattlepi.nwsource.com/p… I was crushing so hard on the bartender, the patrons, the bouncer...they all were heavily tattooed, rockabilly delinquents. Made me want to skip the concert and ask them all to go in a back room with me somewhere. And I almost did miss the show. When I sat down at the bar, the oh-so-sexy bartender asked me what I'd like to drink. I told him that I wanted a Gin and Tonic. He said, "2.50." I said, "Whaaaat? Thats ridiculous." He said, "No, thats dangerous." And it was, I had five. (Though I only paid for two because all those hottie ruffians paid for the others.) So, I almost missed the show, not because I was drunk and didnt pay attention to the time. I could have stayed there all night pretending (wishing) that I fit in with these people. If I lived in Seattle, I would be a regular.

Jeff is a really awesome bar tender. Came in one time with a little cold. Asked for some warm water and he went the extra mile and made some hot water with honey and lemon. Made my day. Whiskey helped too.

So... inbetween going to the nightlight (ew!) and the lusty lady last night my girlfriends and I wandered in to the whisky bar needing some relief from the dank smell of the night light which practically permiated are skin. For being just next door the Whisky Bar was a breath of desperately needed fresh air. Drinks were fairly priced but the highlight was most definitely the rockstar bartender Erin. Although totally slammed she was still warm and personable and more than happy to put up with my drunk slurring ass. Usually bartenders with that much swagger have an additude to match but that was certainly not the case with her. Kindness and a smile can sometimes be a tall order in this town, but I certainly got my fill at the whisky bar last night. Thanks!

This is a great bar. It's low key and convenient. They have interesting art work for sale on the walls, they have a jukebox and sometimes a dj. They have a pool table and are connected to the kabab place next door. So when you have had too much whisky you can head next door for a hot dog or kabab or whatever they have fresh. They have an atm and I think they only take cash. We went there for my bf's bday a couple weekends ago and it was the perfect setting. Everyone was happy and chill. Everyone got along together for the purpose of his birthday!

4stars for having Leffe on tap. A joint could be located in the center of hell, and I'd give it at least 4stars for having Leffe on tap. Leave your plastic at home, this place is cash only.

    (4)
  • Betsy H.

Would you like some whiskey? Well?? This would be a great place for you then. There's over 40 to choose from. They even have literature on how to do a whiskey tasting. Word to the wise though, don't pull out plastic unless it's to put it into the atm. I was openly chastised for it. :o) That's okay Whisky Bar, I still love you. You give me shots when I need them the most (aka before any show at the Moore)

I am a super big fan of the art shows Joey curates for third Friday Belltown Art Walk. They also have live music. Excellent. It gives me a very good excuse to sit and drink my favorite, Heinenstephaner. Very premium. I had another favorite on tap, but it was so good if I drink to many the night blacks out... Oops. Russ knows. I'll ask him.

P...B....R.... If you likey, you go now.... Awesome layout, cool tenders, weirdo crowd depending on the night.. There was a little Jazz band of old men & a sexy girl there once.. not sure if they still do that... I should call & find out. Only downer was that there were two times I went & it seemed like everyone in there was on coke.. seriously...Everyone.

What else can I say!! Chip is a very cool bartender! everyone that works there seems to know a TON of drinks to make, but they definitely specialize in the Scotch, Whiskey (hence the name) and bourbon. I am always greeted with a handshake follow with a great pour on my drink of the night. They are so laid back here with a casual attitude. If you need a drink head to bar, don't wait for a server cause it won't always show up. This place is laid back and causal, no attitude here so don't bring one in. If you are hungry check out Kebab that is connected with them, great flavors and good service there too!!

The Whisky is sort of dive-barish, but in a cleaner safer way... It's sort of hard to explain. It's another welcome change from a lot of other bars when you just want to relax and not worry about being seen, fitting into the scene, and such... It's more of a "rock-leaning" type of bar. There's one pool table, but it does have room to play without hitting walls (at least, if not patrons), and that's always a plus. They've got a wide selection of whiskeys, cheap beers and other drinks and happy hours to make you happy. This place is cash only, so beware! It is nice to start off here getting a few more affordable drinks before moving on to more wallet-intensive bars and clubs!

  • Kellan K.

Good micro beer, (double ipa's and limited release beer on tap) reasonably priced. Over 100 whiskys. Good, knowledgeable bartenders. Pool table. Not usually crowded but volume is dependant not just on the day of the week and time but the Moore theatre next door so be warned if there's an act that conflicts with your personal taste, BUT they may serve food longer if it's packed. Best bar downtown if the quality of beverage served, bartender knowledge and casual atmosphere are your thing.

Showed up not knowing much of Seattle although I was invited for a hard mod DJ set, few hours later I was exchanging noogies with a gaggle of skinheads and then we were promptly thrown out. Very fun night, not really the Whisky Bar's doing but top rating nonetheless seeing as I don't remember half of it.

Nice joint. But the bartender was quite unfriendly. Rob made me not need to comeback. Unless I want to be treated like trashe. Apparently, customers aren't welcome with him. Sorry my whiskey coke ruined your night...I won't be back for another if Rob is working.

$2 PBR Tallboys during happy hour....how can anyone give this place less than 4 stars? (I'd give them 5, but they ran out of 151 while I was here once which is kinda lame).

  • Lindsey S.

Why am I the only person who finds this place gross and the people rude? It's hard to get drinks, bartender lost my friend's credit card and blamed my friend (um? you are the one who had it you dumbass bartender) and the people there look like they just crawled out of a dumpster. Ick! The Nitelite is like half a block away, go there if you want a fun dive bar!

  • Bob W.

Lost its luster. Sorry Guys. Here's a review from a native 206'er just returned back home, and the news ain't good. The Whiskey bar used to be a seedy joint. No, I'm not saying that's a good thing, but if you avoided the drama, it was a good place for a decent priced, strong drink downtown. That's all changed. As I hear it, the owners wanted to get more 'belltowney' so they jacked up the prices and turned up the @ssholes. The result? An extension of all the garbage you see at the yuppie enclaves up the street. The kicker? Like I said, I hadn't been back in awhile, and it was a loud night. I ordered a drink and the 'tender said something indescribable so I dropped a tenner on the bar. He didn't come back with any change, so it was then I learned how expensive the drinks had become there. I came back for a round half an hour later, to the same bartender, who became a powertripping @sshole to me. He said (verbatim) 'I'm not gonna serve you, brah. You don't tip.' I was incredulous, and even offered to correct for the mistake by making up for it on the next drink. He wouldn't have it. So we left and spent our money elsewhere. I hope you do the same. Don't give money to these losers.

Decent drinks and good service. The entertainment was enjoyable with a local flavor. The crowd was a good mix of respectable folks and gutter dwellers. I'll probably visit again, but only after a few drinks.

The Whisky Bar has more than just whisky; I know for a fact that they serve some strong ass vodka tonics. On Thursday night it appeared to cater to a certain type of filthy rocker that I think is unique to Seattle. While the bartender was friendly and the other patrons were at least polite, the bar itself seemed pissed off, as if it had it's own personality and disposition, like the hotel in The Shining. We passed by Friday night and the crowd seemed much more mixed and the bar seemed a little more relaxed. Oh, and there's outdoor seating. It seems like every place we visited up here had some outdoor tables. I'm beginning to think that people in Seattle have been lying to us about all the rain to keep us away.

Do you like Whisky? Do you like retro drinks done small bar style? Do you like friendly bartenders? Do you like odd little tables with cute booths? Ok if you said yes, then I'd drop what your doing and head over to the whisky bar... right now. I went to Whisky bar last night and started off with a whisky smash, it was pretty good. Not amazing but pretty tasty. After that I discussed retro drinks that are making a come back and I settled myself on the French 75. It was very tasty! The bar itself is oriented in such a way to stimulate flow through the bar, so you can get up walk around and not feel like your in anybodies way. The bar is a U shape in the middle of the room with little booths surrounding the walls. The booths have half tables which is awesome, you can hang out and talk and not feel like your sitting at Denny's. There's a small area for pool at the back and thankfully the music is at a low enough volume you can sit and chat quite freely with your counterpart without feeling like your yelling at the top of your lungs. I'll go back, its conveniently located in practically the center of downtown. Yumm!

Avoid the Belltown douche*** and junkie scene by taking a trip to the Whiskey instead. Next to the Moore, this place can get packed before shows, but its low key atmosphere, hearty selections of whiskeys and scotches, and rotating beer specials make this place a favorite. Local art adorns the walls and is rotated out on a regular basis. Crowd is a mix of punk rockers (but the kind who grew up and got jobs), business folk looking to wind down and loosen their ties, and regulars who come back for the great service.

  • Mary G.

I should have known from the name, but decided to order something non-whiskey. My bad, I realize ... but it would have been nice for the barkeeps to suggest I order something else. (I went there to support my friend's band and not necessarily for the beverages.) The result? An "overcooked" glass of red wine (described as such by one of the bartenders when I said it tasted strange) and a poorly-crafted French 76, a spin on one of the drink items on the menu. Next time, I'll go with the beer. But the bartenders need some lessons in making drinks. Just saying.

The drinks are expensive but the attached food stand has great service and good food for the price. I like the burgers and the kebab-wich. Greasy goodness. It's a bonus that the girl that usually makes my sandwich is hilarious!

I love a bar where you can sit with your girlfriends and throw ice cubes, straws, and random knick knacks into a stranger's buttcrack that is hanging out of their pants without them noticing. I'd like to thank the Whiskey's extended happy hour for making that possible!

This is a review of the restaurant attached to The whiskey Bar. it is called Kebab. The kid working here during the day on Nov 3 wouldn't wash his hands after sneezing into a napkin. He was inside standing in front of the window while sneezing (great sales tactic). I asked him to, he just gave a big dopey smile "I always wash my hands after handling money or sneezing" standing there. "So are you going to wash them?" : me "Would you like a vegetarian or chicken casadilla?" Not washing hands, standing there. "Uh, actually forget it. I'm going somewhere else because you have attitude": me "Good luck to you!" sticking his head out window as I walk away. After that I flipped him off. The girls there during the day have always been really nice. That is the only thing that saved this review from being 1 star. Not sure what the kid's deal is. Probably won't go back. If you are this kid's manager you might want to talk to him or fire him. I am about to post on 4 social sites. Going to do wonders for your business, I am sure.

This is a cool low key bar with a cool crowd. The bartenders were really friendly and attentive. I was really indecisive on what I wanted to order so the bartender whipped my up a fresh squeezed fruity martini that was actually really good.

The perfect bar. Not pretensious at all, a notch or two above a total dive bar. Great selection of craft beers and of course whiskey. Pool tables, bartenders who are friendly as long as you're not a DB. Great music - as long as you like The Ramones. A Seattle gem.

Why aren't there bars this cool in my neighborhood? This place is great. I'm not much of a whisky drinker but my traveling partner Buck is a BIG time fan of it. The bartender made great recommendations for him, while Christine and I drank beer. I don't remember what kind of beer, as we'd already hit a couple of bars before this, but it was cheap and good. The bartender was super nice, all the patrons were friendly and people were making fantastic jukebox choices (punk, metal and my beloved Nick Cave). Even the bathroom was nice. It reminds me of The Casbah in San Diego a little bit, which is a compliment. The art on the walls was awesome, and I'm so going to make me a set of whisky-bottle-xmas lights this holiday season!

The place had a great ambiance. I'm big about the ambiance as you can tell about the other three reviews I wrote tonight. I like how the place looks and feels before I have even taken a drink at the place. And the decor at Whisky Bar is most accommodating to most individuals. The bartender at the counter was more than kind about explaining different types of whiskey and how to drink them. I was looking for a decently priced whiskey that I can drink on the rocks with a splash of water like they used to do in the old days. I dont really know if they do that anyway, because its not really my thing, but the bartender was patient and led me through different types of whiskey and how to drink them. In the end I selected a decent whiskey on the rocks with more than a splash of water. It was pretty durn good and his the spot very well. Props to him! I only whish now that I could have got his name to give him some credit. Go check it it out for the extensive Whiskey list. Or just check it out for the Hoegarden happy hour specials. Have fun!

What happened to Krissy, Tom, Erin & Dave? The big, nice doorguy Jeff is missing as well. This place used to be a fun place to go and hang out with friends and get a nice stiff drink. Now it's horrible. The new bartenders are slower than molasses and can't pour a beer to save their life, nevermind the fact that their mixed drinks are weak. No more good music coming from the place when you walk past. I don't know what the owners/ managers were thinking but this is not the fun Whisky Bar it used to be. If you're looking for uptight yuppies and a weak drink, then this is the place to be.

Loud music, sticky tables, cheap beer, a bar that can't spell its own name, and a few clips of Ron Jeremy doing his thing up on the flat screens. You're either gonna love it or hate it. I say enjoy!

The Whiskey Bar is an awesome downtown bar. I guess they have lots of great Whiskey but I go for the tall PBRs. I always meet fun people at the bar or when I'm playing pool. It may seem a bit intimidating at first but everyone is open-minded and cool.

My encounter with Whisky Bar was brief, yet satisfying. My friends and I stopped in for a mellow, first drink on the way to a much louder and livelier spot. This bar was small and dark, and it made for a good starting point for a night full of antics. The drinks were stiff, the beer selection was acceptable, and I would absolutely return for a more relaxed, casual drinking experience.

Great selection of top shelf whiskey that is hard to find in most places. Fun busy staff; great music (punk, 80s, etc.) and good seating if you want to have a chat with a friend and not have the whole bar hear you. Good bouncers.

favorite bar in belltown, possibly in a ll of seattle. drinks are strong, fun atmosphere, and friendly staff especially corey! they can get pretty busy, but you never get ignored at the bar, there is a pool table and outdoor seating which is nice. i don't have much to say about this place, just that i like it alot and so do my friends

We will be back! We came here before hitting up pikes market and were thrilled by the selection. Nothing makes shopping around self absorbed tourists better like some great scotch prior! Sure the bartender knew nothing about scotch or whisky, but the choices! It may be nice to have someone suggest something new based on my tastes but it wont prevent me from working my way through the menu. We will be back again next year.

This place is mostly catered to the goth or heavy metal fans. At least that's the music they were playing when we were there on Friday night. There's only one pool table there, so you gotta wait if you want to play. The drinks are pretty cheap, $6 for a whisky.

  • Steve M.

You won't find a better beer selection in town, in terms of quality if not quantity. You won't find a better Scotch whisky selection in town, in terms of quantity, except maybe at a few bars that are very annoying places to hang out. This bar is for real. No Irish drinking and fighting music on repeat. No "My Goodness My Guinness" posters on every wall. Just a nice place to sit and have a drink.

This place is absolutely fantastic. Jeff is my all-time favorite bartender. He really knows his stuff about all sorts of fine whiskys and beer, and the selection of each is excellent. I get cocktails here that taste better than those I've paid twice as much for at fine dining restaurants. The little gyro shop is super tasty, and often quite necessary after 3 or 4 drinks. Atmosphere is great, and they have a nice clean patio. Highly recommended!

Some friends and I were on our way out of the Moore Theater, when we decided to go to another bar, besides the Nite Lite. The closest place to the Lite, was The Whiskey Bar. Being that it was a Friday and the show just ended, we bolted for the place and were quite lucky to find a seat at the bar. The place is as tiny as a show box. The majority of the bar is just that, a bar. They have all different types of whiskey and being that I'm not too much a fan of hard A, I decided to get whatever my friends told me to get. So I got a Jameson double and sipped it for around a half hour. I'm a light weight and it kicked my butt! The atmosphere was nice, the music wasn't too loud and it's close to the Moore and a more traditional bar. Oh and they whiskey, lots and LOTS of it. All different grades, prices, malts ect.

  • M K.

Loved this place more when it was a little more dive-y, a little less pretentious. I'm fine with making upgrades, but don't alienate your loyal customers by trying to deny your low-class (a plus, in my book) beginings. All that frustrated me was that you started accepting credit cards (HUGE PLUS), but when we commented on the fact, you denied you ever were a cash only bar (??). Then, shortly thereafter, you installed a credit card minimum (totally fine with that), but again denied that this was anything other than the status quo ever (why do you keep lying to us?). Lastly, as a "dive bar" I came to love the great happy hour, the wonderful rotation of draught beers, and the fact you still sold good old PRB by the can. Last time we went in, again there was denial of EVER serving PBR, and the consolation that the best alternative you could give us was an import (WEIRD!). Just asking to please stop pretending you were ever a dive, a lot of us really loved that dive.

fun times at 2pm when killing time. awesome jukebox, friendly people. if you like whiskey, then there are about 250 or so options... both domestic and imported, and with prices ranging from $5 to $35.

a complete and utter belltown moron-magnet, the probability of getting into a fight or witnessing a fight is very high...if that's your idealized notion of a swell (swill) night out, then..well, "Whisky Bar" is your place. fun-fact: the drunks who are either 86'd and/or cutoff at the nearby Nite-Lite routinely take a b-line straight to this place!

Located across the street from The Moore, The Whiskey Bar offers an atmosphere that's not for the faint at heart. This place reminds me of a night of dirty sex. Punk music or metal is blaring over the speaker system so loud, you usually have to yell to the person next to you to have a conversation. The bartenders are friendly, though they have that look in their eye which says "Stiff me and I'll cut ya". They also know how to pour drinks. If you order a Jack and Coke, you'll get a glass of Jack with a splash of Coke. The crowd is an ecclectic mix of punks, yuppies, and the criminally insane all coming together for a few rounds of self-medication.

this is by and by a good hangout bar for drinking and an even better scenester haunt if youre trying to indulge some "suicide girls" fantasy of yours. the walls are decorated with the stereotypically emo/hardcore dark imagery (very talented artwork nonetheless) of sexy, big breasted girls with guns and lollipops and the such. the music is way too loud to hold a normal conversation and its one of those places where youll occasionally and embrassingly be caught shouting to your company in between songs. in all fairness though, the tracklisting is pretty badass. therefore its a great place to rock out with a brew if nothing else. theres a good number of booths around a center bar which usually has ample space. the drinks are stiff and the beers are cold, although be prepared, because this is a cash only bar. random conversation between patrons/barstaff is a bit on the light side unless youre coming back from a minor threat show. theres really nothing dive about this place, except for its self imposed label. its actually quite well kept and even the crowd, reveling in the badassedness of it all, is far from sketch.

Holy crap you ever have one of those moments where something was unlocked in your brain and a previously lost memory appeared in your head. When I saw the review for the Whisky Bar that happened to me. After asking my friends apparently I stumbled into this bar on the night of my bachelor party because it "has Whisky in the name and I like Whisky. It is also the name of a Doors song that I like." While I don't remember a lot I remember the drinks were good. Shots were good too and I remember they had a great live band that let my drunken ass come on-stage and sing "I wanna be sedated." Which is pretty cool. I also recalled that they had a breathalyzer test that was whack. I blew a .02 which based on the holes in my memory I think I was a little more drunk than that. So don't trust the alcohol analyzer it lies. Oh and if you see a photo of my wife in the bathroom please remove it.

This bar is great before, but especially after a show. It's walking distance from most of the venues. The bartenders were great and there is plenty of space.

Unnecessarily snobby (a la a winery), slightly obnoxious, but I'll be god damned if they don't have a decent selection and knowledgeable staff...oh yeah, the name is appropriate, expect booze, good booze, not food

Some here are calling this a dive bar. Not sure you can really be a dive bar if you know you are. This place is fun for a beer or two, but it makes most of its business by no being like its neighbors to the north (Belltown en mass)

A few things of note: 1) If you're heading to a show (or coming from one) The Whisky Bar is the place to be. Cheap-assed drinks and good music (and as one person put it, "all the strange arse you can handle). 2) The Whisky Bar is not misspelled. Check a few European bottles - as the owners Brian and Colin are from England, this is the spelling that makes the most sense. 3) Summertime is coming. The Whisky has a big-assed outdoor area and you can now smoke out there if you'd like (of course, people are still being cool enough to ask if you mind before lighting up - that's something rare for me to see) 4) No, I don't work for The Whisky, I just love that place. I feel like it's *my* bar so I proudly talk it up. 5) Yeah, it's tough sometimes to have a conversation inside. With the jazz band there on Wednesday nights, it's gotten even louder.

Before a Social D concert, filled up on some PBR and some loud music to get geared up for the show. Hunger sank in before we headed out, so we wandered over to the snack trailer and grabbed a $2 bean n' cheese burrito with a side of Pace Picante (other option was a side of ranch). Good times beaten down to the basics, just the way I like it.

There is a place for everyone. A bar for everyone. This one is not for me. Dingy, weird crowd - actually just downright dirty. And if you are not a bike messenger with facial piercings, don't bother. If you've showered in the last 48 hours, you'll be too clean cut. It's obvious they have a lot of regulars and they notice those who are not regulars. I appreciate that there are places that cater to all different people and it's great that for some people - this is their niche, but I won't be back.

A great dive bar and one of my favorites. How can $1 High Life's all day everyday not be a favorite? When you order High Life, the excitement in the barkeep's eyes drain, so don't expect prompt service. That's all I drink when I go there, so I'm sure its better when you don't take advantage of their cheap beer generosity.

Cheap beer and really loud music. I've gone there with groups a few times and it's been almost impossible to carry on a conversation inside. I actually stood out in the cold with the smokers for a good bit of the time when I was at this place, just so I could talk to people without screaming. Decent ecclectic crowd the nights I went, and a relatively friendly staff.

I really wanted to like this place since I'm a fan of old-school dark liquor oriented bars. Its got lots of dark wood and copper and feels comfortable with a hint of 'cool speak-easy' and 'dive'. The real disappointment came from the service behind the bar. I'm sure some people think that a pretentious, 'too cool to care' bartender is the hip thing, but I don't buy that! I'd rather have a friendly drink slinger who appreciates a crowd rather than being annoyed by them. I didn't even say anything to my firends about it after getting the first round and one by one they all came back from the bar later and commented on the service - so I know it wasn't just me. Sorry, but it doesn't matter how good the selection of single malts is I doubt I'm going back, there's plenty of other places in this town who pure a good scotch. (disclaimer - Patrons on the other side of the bar may have had a very different opinion since they had a different bartender).

THE Whiskey bar. They know how to make 'em. Anything whiskey, but my favorite here is a whiskey sour. Often times they'll have pre-show parties when there are concerts playing at the Moore or the Paramount. Check them out!

A good place for beer sluts from local offices. go in the early afternoon and try not to laugh at some of the patrons. Reasonably priced, and no attempt to pretension whatsoever.

Erik and I rang in the new year here, and it was super fun! I can't believe I'd never visited this place. We were downtown with tentative plans to hit up the Noc Noc, got to the door and they wanted a $20 cover. Uh, no. I enjoy the Noc Noc, but that's the place you go for cheap cover and even cheaper drinks. So I said we should go the Whisky Bar. We get to the door and the guy asks for only our ID's, no cover! I was pretty tipsy at this point, but I think I remember the door guy as being nice and flirty even. We walked in to the awesome sound of GNR...then Billy Idol...then tons of other awesome shit! This is totally the kinda bar I want to frequent with good tunes and cheap beer. Sometimes cheap ass beer really hits the spot, and there's something about listening to rockin' music very loud that goes very well with drinking cheap beer. Or maybe that's just the kinda gal I am. Everyone who was working last night seemed really nice and to really be enjoying what they were doing. It's pretty cozy here, not real big, but just right. I think the set-up is great, with the bar in the middle and tables around the bar lining the walls, when you're seated in the back like we were, you have a great view out the huge front window. It's kinda nice to be all nice and cozy inside looking at what's going on outside. There's one pool table and it was in constant use. It's also pretty cheap. It's either a $1 or 50 cents, I don't know but all I saw was one of those things you put your quarters in and push in. Whatever, $1 is pretty cheap for pool. So, here's how it breaks down: cheap beer + awesome LOUD music + cool people (staff and customers) + cheap pool + clean restrooms = a place I will go to again and again for good times.

nothing like a good ol dive bar to get you through those long winter nights and the whisky seem to be the place for that. the red light makes every one look sexy and duirng the summer that out door deck has to be the coolest place around.
