This place is cool. Its slightly a dive bar and not to many bros. The cocktails aren't weak either. It's also a Bengals bar during football season! Who-dey!

Excellent location if you're looking for easy going folk. Friendly every time, not too friendly though. There's definitely a balance for that! There is a pool table that is cheap but popular, although I've had no trouble joining in with current players or getting into the queue. Don't come here on the weekend expecting to have the table all to yourself. The food is good bar food. Nothing on the menu is more expensive than $11. Burgers, salad, fish n' chips. I've been here to play book, eat, & study. There's also a large screen if you want to catch the game.

A poor imitation of an Irish pub. Avoid if you can. Food is terrible, drinks aren't good and it's frequented by homeless people.

Staff is friendly the other guess we're nice also the drinks were also cheap but the menu wasn't really the Irish it was just Generic bar food but it was price far I would say it is a great bar but if you are looking for a Irish place not so much I would defiantly go back again

Very bad experience. I went three weeks ago with some friends on Friday for some drinks afterwork. I am not a English-speaking native but my English is quite good. I went to the bar to order a beer and a Saphire & tonic and the woman bartending was quite rude. I said "Saphire and tonic" few times and she didn´t understand me which, as a non-English speaker native, I understand but the way she replied to me was extremely rude. She said "You keep saying but I don´t know what you say!!" (with an aggresive expresion in her face) like I was saying something stupid. Sometimes my accent (Spaniard) is not understood, but living in a city with a large International population like Seattle makes the Seattleites kinda empathetic with those whose first language is not English. Well, this wasn´t the case here. She was very rude. Finally she was able to understand what I was ordering. But the second time I went to order the same thing, she acted the same way. I was kinda frustrated since I was ordering the same thing. I concluded that or she was having a bad day or she was xenophobic or homophobic (I went with my husband and gay friends). Either one I am never going back or recommend it.

They are changing ownership and it's no surprise. I went twice and was completely ignored the first time and the second time they weren't serving food.

Nothing makes me happier than paying for the last beer in the keg and being told that its totally normal. I get it that sometimes it happens but when someone says they would like another beer that isn't flat and tasted like licking ass, it would be nice not to be mocked as well.

Gross bar. A drunk perv at the bar started talking to me and my friend and then started touching me. I told the bartender and promptly moved to a spot at the end of the bar where there was no space to eat. Instead of kicking out the drunk guy, they let him stay and eat at the bar - needless to say we left before our food ever came. Never going back there again.

DH had to go real bad! So we stopped here. It's literally down the street from where we're staying, but DH could not wait. This place pretty hopping for 7pm in the evening, although got a place at the bar. No food ordered here, but stopped in for drinks. Seemed like a decent place- juke box was playing with regulars milling around. I could smell pastry, not sure from what though. This is what I come to Seattle for, the experience! They have a pool table & nice cushy places to hang out in. I myself always frequent the bar. I think we're going to settle into our room and run back down to this area. Would rather be walking. Watching soccer right now. Okay, not me, but DH is! Come join us!

There are many reasons to dislike the Dubliner. It used to be a really cool dive bar 1 or 2 years ago, but the cool left when ownership changed and now they're just left with divey grime. Anyway, it's kind of dirty (ick the bathrooms), service is meh, and the drunk regulars are annoying. Prices are alright but don't really make up for the ambience. All that being said, I go to the Dubliner a lot. It's never insanely packed and it's pretty big so it's a good place to meet up with friends before going out for the night. They have trivia on Wednesday and karaoke on Tuesday (although I heard the blonde kj was leaving so I don't know what will happen).

In my grand tradition of going to dive bars, Dubliner is my dive in Fremont. It was the perfect location, right around the corner from work, and typically only filled with regulars. So it was strange that I'd only been there twice in the full five months that I worked in Fremont. But after coming back to Seattle for a visit, a few friends and I managed to meander in during their Sexy Bingo Night, and lo and behold, our friend won the grand prize! I love The Dubliner, the bartenders are great, and Sexy Bingo Night is fun. They always have stuff going on, and they have decent brews on tap!

A good place to meet new people, who are typically friendly by my guesstimate. They have a good selection of beers. It's not a gastropub or anything fancy, just a local watering hole, and that's just fine by me.

  • Michael C.

The Dubliner is a laid back dive bar with a pool table and a small stage mostly frequented by stoners. I like it. I have been here twice now and both times I have been welcomed to play pool by friendly locals. Last night (Tuesday) was busier than other area bars with a karaoke DJ on hand - not a great sound system, but fun none the less. This will be a regular stop for me when in Fremont.

  • Stephanie K.

This bar got a lot better the last time I went! Service was great and prompt, and the trivia was still awesome. Drinks are a great price and well made.

Went here last month for a friend's birthday party. Staff was super friendly and they had a good selection of drinks. They also had really good prices - their happy hour is pretty nice. I agree with some of the other reviewers here though - this bar isn't really Irish. If so, it's the least Irish bar I've ever been to. Most pubs I've seen don't have pool tables or karaoke. It's also pretty dark and dirty, in my opinion. Not that most bars aren't dark or slightly dingy...but this place just had more of a filthy feeling to me. Overall, however, I had a good time here and I'd come back.

The Dubliner presents itself as a well seasoned English pub - if it was smaller it'd be considered a hole in the wall. It's got quite a few tables and a medium size bar. Happy hours specials are $5 which is a good deal. Service is so-so (decent, but not over the top) when it's super busy, but you really can't complain. My main complaint is that there's very little air circulation starting about one table from the door. The few fans they have inside pretty much suck. I've been here three times now because it always seems to be the happening place by my local friends. Not much happening here though. Still, I'm a fan because the beer is good, cold and cheap. Cheers!

Every neighborhood has one of these. It's "the Irish bar," one half of which is filled with folks who are there all day (like, literally, all day), and the other half is your normal Fremonters. They have some tasty local beers on tap, alongside the British Isle staples (Guiness, Boddingtons). Their food is alright, your typical Irish pub fare. Everything about this place is typical. Typical typical typical. +1 weird point for being an Irish pub with Fela Kuti on the jukebox. EDIT: Jukebox is gone. You lose all your weird points.

Hanging out in the Fremont area to do a tour of Theo Chocolates, swung by here to catch March Madness and a bite to eat. Pretty empty on a Saturday afternoon with the handful of other customers there to watch the game too. They had a pretty tasty Strongbow Cider, which was new to me. With a limited Pub Grub menu to work with, we shared an order of their Fish & Chips ($9). It came with about four pieces of fish and seasoned french fries (similar to a BBQ seasoning). The standout was their tartar sauce that had hints of dill in it. Yum yum! Happy hours are 3 pm to 8 pm, which includes $3 pints, wells, & wines. 3.5 stars.

First time at the Dubliner and our bartender was so rad- we will definitely be back. Wish I would have gotten his name (had big plugs, usually works as a cook) but he was so awesome and sweet it totally made our night! And made some top notch wings!

Came here on St. Patty's Day this year. It wasn't bad but we did have to wait in line for half an hour around 9 p.m. that night. It was cold but it got warmer inside. The $1 green jello shots were fun but the foul smell of poop and fart near the bar WAS NOT. What the hell was up with that? The stench really made the experience really weird but memorable, I guess. There was a live band playing Irish music and the crowd was pretty diverse and outrageous. Lots of cool green gear around the bar and lots of tables and places to stand around. It's a decent bar but I prefer the others in the Fremont neighborhood.

The more I go to Fremont the more I'm glad I live in Capitol Hill. Everyone raves about the Fremont scene but I find it pretty lackluster. (I do love Brouwers though!) I was at the Dubliner last night and had a strange experience. I was with some friends who are all of age but I just wasn't in the mood to drink. When we approached the bar the bartender sternly asked for IDs. I gladly showed him mine and then when he asked what I was having I said "Oh, nothing for me thanks." Guess what he did? He gave me a DIRTY LOOK! Ha. That's never happened before. To top things off, the bar just wasn't that cool. It's a good spot if you want to play pool or cards. There were a few tables of guys playing poker and sports were being broadcast on the TV. Very much a hangout spot for locals and people who are looking to unwind after a day at work. Nothing special.

Been a few times and it has been nice enough--good break from the more upscale places that dominate fremont. Last time I went I was disappointed by slow service due to a messed up order, a changed and inferior food menu (no more wraps) and barely an apology for the messed up order.

Seattle-Friend: "So...where you dudes wanna go next?" Me: "Somewhere chilled out, man. Somewhere we can talk and not have to worry about douchey soundtracks, being mean-mugged by the well-dressed peeps at the next table over...just a hang-out. Oh, and somewhere with a decent beer-list." Seattle-Friend: "Alright...let's hit this dive I go to sometimes. Dubliner. Irish in name only. They have beer." Me: "Lead the way!" Attention Indiana dive bars...take note! One tap of High Life, a power-plant-esque smoke cloud, and Nascar flags does not make you a dive; it makes you a shitty bar. Seattle "dives" have it down; multiple taps of at-least-decent brew, no smoking, soccer on a couple dim-corner big screens...yeah, this is a new definition I can get behind. Cold pitchers of 3 Skulls Wit, friendly bartenders, a rather clean joint, subdued 10pm on a Thursday night, catching up with old friends. Aw yeah. We overstayed by a pitcher...not a bad decision at all.

A pub with the right mix of comfortable and unexpected, The Dubliner, is a Seattle staple. They have all the things one needs: a count down clock until St. Patty's Day, a sign up sheet so that playing pool is a possibility for all those who are interested, and closeness to a number of food spots... because really you're gonna get hungry. One star is just for the Guiness, they do it quite well here... considering how far we are from the brewery. Another would be for the unique merging of culture, I happened into the Dubliner on a reggie night where the music was being mixed live, and ya know what it was fun, a great combo a pint and Marley. There are some downsides, there is not enough seating and the bar does seem to be trying to be everything to everyone but... well... it does have an interesting vibe. I guess in the end this is a good one to just give a try.

This homely local Fremont bar is in dire need of a remodel. The tables, seats, and bathrooms are pretty worn out. The bartenders on the other hand are down to earth and give great service. Since the location is central...its a great starting place to meet a group of friends. A great pie shop is next door as well as an ultra cool bar type lounge

    (3)
  • Kristin B.

Decent bar in Fremont. Not great, but nothing really to complain about either. The drinks were pretty good, the bartender was super nice but it was just OK for me. I was pretty happy that Pie is just right down the street though! That's a bonus :)

Good: Trivia night, happy hour prices Bad: service, and lack of places to sit

  • Troy G.

I was expecting an Irish pub but got a bar filled with Irish things. The beer was very pricey around $5-$6 a pint, although in Fremont you can't expect anything too cheap. The bar was a little crowded and we ended up standing at a table since all of the chairs were taken. The music was a mix of 90s music and mainstream metal. It seemed to shift from Five Finger Death Punch to some 1 hit wonder 90s band.

    (2)
  • Christina L.

I've been here for Wednesday night trivia and gotten the steak special and the burger, both of which were decent. It was really difficult to find seats, though, and the inside seems darker than other pubs that I've been to. Service seems really slow.

Outside of the name and a few Guinness signs, there's really nothing much "Irish" about The Dubliner. It's more of a dive bar with an Irish theme. In fact, out of all the Irish bars in Seattle, this one has to go near the bottom. It's a decent enough place to meet up with people. Just expect to hear Creed rather then The Chieftains. I met some friends here on St. Patrick's Day. It wouldn't have been my first choice, but what the heck? I hadn't been to an Irish bar on St. Paddy's in a long time. After going to The Dubliner, I feel like I still haven't. They had all the usual stuff you'd expect. Guinness and Harp on tap, Irish Car Bombs, a live band. The problem is, when you get your Guinness in a plastic Miller Lite cup, an ICB in a weird, multi-chambered, molded plastic thing and the band is playing Blink 182 covers, it's hard to feel like you are on the Emerald Isle. Having said all that, I did have fun. The place was packed with a mostly young but mixed crowd. They had plenty of servers and there was never a wait.

** Happy Hour Review ** The food earns them three stars at best, but you don't come to an Irish pub for the food: you come for the cheap drinks, with rowdy groups of friends, and you make the most of every minute of that generous 3-8pm Happy Hour window (EVERY DAY, and Sundays 1-10pm!). The microbrews are good and cheap, $3.50/pint during HH, with $2 PBR and $3 well drinks. Like I said, the food isn't anything special, but it'll do to cushion all those cheap drinks. Start your Fremont adventures here and save the classier (or at least more expensive) places for later. Your wallet will thank me; your hangover, maybe not.

    (4)
  • Elizabeth B.

I really like this bar. They usually have a good beer selection, and awesome trivia on Wednesdays. Bartender Jake is always friendly and helpful. Sometimes the wait service is a bit slow, but other than that it's a really fun, chill place to hang out. Definitely worth it on trivia night!

I have to say this bar is eff'in rad. Our angel, Karen, makes anyone feel warmly welcome. More than accommodating, great food, decent pool set up, jukebox, good drinks. Cheers!

    (4)
  • Jeff S.

My thought on the Dubliner is, "Meh. I've experienced better." The drinks were fine, the bartender was fine, and the other customers didn't really interact with me. If that was where the review stopped, I'd have given it 3 stars. What took it down to two stars is the smell. I don't know if its just the few times I've been there but it always smells like a guys locker room. I'm doubt a bar has too much control over its customers bathing habits, but its still enough to keep me away.

    (2)
  • Michelle S.

Came upon the Dubliner by accident, but didn't want to stay longer than 3/4 of a $3.50 pint of Guinness. As a sort of cross between a dive bar and an Irish pub, it doesn't really succeed at either. There are better east-coast-style pubs in Seattle, and dive bars that have more character. The crowd seemed to be primarily college-aged or slightly older. ESPN was playing on a small tv in one corner of the bar, and Washington's Most Wanted in another. The bartender was nice enough, but I wouldn't venture out of my way to come back to this bar.

    (2)
  • Nerick M.

I've been to the Dubliner only a handful of times and I have to say that I've definitely experienced better pubs. Don't get me wrong, it's what a bar of it's type is supposed to be, but it's just not a spot I'd pick. It is a great spot to watch some sports (like during March Madness or something like that) or to shoot some pool while you're in Fremont.....but that's about it for me.

    (2)
  • Sarah G.

Visited the Dubliner for St. Paddy's day, horrible service. We waited fifteen minutes for seating, and it took over an hour for the food. No refills! Not busy--no one was there, AND IT WAS SAINT PADDY'S DAY. Go figure. I would never recommend this place.

    (1)
  • Kat F.

The Dubliner is finally getting a bump to 3 stars from me after my most recent visit. I think I broke the electronic dart board a little bit? And nobody cared? Awesome. The bartender was actually friendly! And nice! And funny! These alone are not enough to bump it up but a seemingly improved beer selection is. I had an IPA from some Montana brewery that I had never heard of and it was delicious! I like to try new beer :o)

Went there with my bf Monday afternoon. Their happy hour starts at 3, but their kitchen wasn't open til 4. So we came back after 4. In a busy area a block away from the Fremont bridge so on street parking can be difficult to find, since no parking lot., but managed to find free 2 hour parking a block away. Once we arrived, just a few customers at the bar, the restaurant was still pretty empty, we picked a spot close to the open front door to enjoy the fresh air and people watch through their big windows. When we sat down no one came to greet us so we had to go up to the bar to get their attention and grab some menus to let them know we were gonna order food. Once we got the ball rolling, customer service was pretty good, and the staff was friendly. We each had an order of the Alaskan battered cod fish and chips. Both very tasty, flaky, cooked just right. We let them know their coleslaw was very plain and they sounded as if there will definitely be improvement on it. We were able to use the GroupOn deal too. Would love to go back soon to try their shepherds pie or for more fish n chips and see if their coleslaw improved any.

Its Tuesday evening and you want a beer and some appetizers with friends. Dubliner makes me like Tuesdays at happy hour. Theres nothing overtly flashy about Dubliner. Clearly it attracts a combination of young college and postgrad types, with a healthy infusion of older friends who seem to be regulars. It is dark and usually quite loud, but seldom packed to the point of discomfort. Play pool, watch a sports match, or hop up on the stage and do some karaoke. Its a good night. Dubliner has a nice variety of beers and the appetizers aren't bad as well! Its usually fried and greasy, but it tastes good with a nice beer. Its all pretty much standard here. There is nothing to really force you to remember the Dubliner except for what you bring with you. Its unpretentious, varied and approachable.

Cheap drinks. Divey and slightly grungy. But, we went on a Friday night, and there was room to move--lots of it. Agree with post below, Fremont is a quieter scene than you'd think. Come here with a group, and you'll be able to talk to everyone. And, I've been to Ireland, and Irish pubs in the smaller towns are like this---not a lot of loud music, just a few regulars sitting around, usually watching the TV. (Irish TV is so bad---once I saw 20 old men clustered around a TV watching Colin Farrell in "Phone Booth") Wait here and Chiso will call you when your table is ready

I had the pleasure of going here with my best friend, Nate, as soon as I landed in Fremont. It was karaoke night, which was a tradition of ours since I lived in Portland. Even though the bar is Irish in name only, they carried some good beers(like Mac & Jacks, a beer I had been craving for some time while on the east coast). It has a pretty fun environment and the prices are not too steep. I have a feeling this is definitely going to become one of my go-to neighborhood bars.

Been meaning to post a review for this place for awhile... Discovered after a failed attempt to loving Dad Watson's across the street... The Dubliner is WAY better! Live music, friendly bartenders, they can make a black and tan without hesitation (always a plus). Decent price on the bourbon shots. Cozy couch to relax on. Pool tables. Laid out to provide both group interaction and a little privacy, the space is nice and big. The bathroom, which I thought might be a little scary was really quite well taken care of. Its something of a dive, but a nice one in a way... If the Dubliner was in my neighborhood I know for sure that I would spend quite a bit of time there!

Stopped by The Dubliner while waiting for a table at Kylie's. Happy Hour is always awesome here, and it's a good spot to stop by for a quick drink or to spend the night. Good times here!

Decent bar, decent crowd, decent music, decent beer selection, better than decent prices ($3 wells 3-8 most days), Many great nights in Fremont have started or ended at the Dubliner.

Sunday night, my friends and I went to Fremont for a birthday run. T'was a fantastic night -- pretty successful. We started off at The Dubliner, which is such a chill place. The bartender was super nice, very funny, and cool. for a Sunday night, it was decent. He gave the birthday girl a free drink, very sweet of him. Pulls a nice Guinness. The food looks good (didn't have some myself, but seriously looks good). My co-worker says that on Wednesdays you can get wells starting at 9 for a dollar, at 10 for 2 dollars, and at 11 for 3 dollars. That's a pretty good deal, but I'm not sure if they're still doing that. Overall, a good place to start the night right!

  • Anna F.

Geek trivia is a blast, and they have a fantastic $10 steak dinner Wednesday nights. What makes this place suck is the TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE service. Even though the dinner is terrific (when you eventually get it), you'll be eating it with your hands because there's no server to be found to ask for a fork. You'll then have to wipe your greasy hands on a cocktail napkin, because the server will fail to bring you napkins after you eventually find her and ask for them. You'll feel lucky you finally got your drink, and then realize it's not what you ordered. You'll have to drink it anyway because the alternative is drinking nothing at all, which is what the server will bring you when you ask her for the drink you actually ordered. So go if you're not in a hurry and have a lot of patience. Also go for geek trivia, which is enough to get me back in there week after week.

This has slowly turned into one of my favorite "escape places", where I can sit at a corner table, have a pint, read the paper, and have some decent fish & chips without having to worry about being bothered. The staff is pretty cool, the ambiance is nice - they just repainted everything - and it's a great spot for people watching. It's definitely a locals hangout, which I like... and the best time to go if you're feeling somewhat anti-social but still wanting to get outta the house would be anytime on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon (unless there's a game, of course... then it's insane).

Another stop on an abysmal bar-hop last night. Started off OK, when a right-friendly chap handed me a beer upon walking in, promising that it wasn't roofied. But then he went and insulted my alma mater, and I had to bring the smack down. Plus it was a Heineken, which may have passed its enjoy-by date. I was in no way wowed by this place. It would probably be better under different circumstances. And by that I mean not on a Saturday night. I did notice a big board full of daily specials. $1 wells on Wednesdays? I've fallen for that once and won't do it again, but it might be something you're interested in.

If not for the very low-cut tank top/dress combo that the cute bartender was wearing last night, I might have gone with two stars. It's a dive bar, which are my exclusive drinking destinations, but with higher than expected drink prices. It could be the rent in Fremont is high and they need to charge accordingly, or that they are just swindlers. I think it is the rent, honestly. I would hate to think of the owners of an "Irish" pub to be swindling me. I ended up paying nine dollars for two beers, which wouldn't be bad, if they were good beer. The two dollar tallboys are great, but the $5 Manny's pint is high. Maybe it isn't, who knows what I'm going on about, but I would not think to pay $5 for a Manny's in a sober state. In a drunk state, I'd probably throw money at them and ask "How many Manny for this?" Anyway, if you live in Fremont and hate the "party" scene at most of the bars over here, the Dubliner, at least, gives you an option away from places like Sinners and Saints. I would never go to Sinners and Saints. (No offense, if the owners of Sinners & Saints are reading this, but the music I hear coming out of your place sounds like an ESPN themed cd from 1993.) Finally, my last thoughts on this are, go to the Dubliner, don't expect much, order a $2 tallboy, and try not to stare too long at the cute bartenders. Jesus, I need a drink...

I went to the Dubliner years ago for St. Patricks Day and remember that I had such a great time. Considering I only go to Fremont for getting supplies on my house, I figure I would re-visit the place and try out some their awesome shepards pie that I remember having in the past. The place hasn't changed much, except it's gotten the cookie cutter bar thing going on. They got rid of their Irish menu all together. I asked the bar tender for a shepards pie and Guinness and she looked at me blankly for around 8 seconds as she was pouring me my drink. I got a menu with the regular fan fare, burger, fries, onion rings ect... Too bad, it seems all the bars in Fremont are becoming the same. Nice Irish name with no Irish charm. Oh, but the Guinness was good.

Pretty effin bad. The fish tasted really weird, and the nachos were limp and soggy. Decent beers on tap, and for that, one extra star. I wouldn't go back.

  • Michael K.

The Dubliner is a great place to listen to live music, talk with friends, and shoot a game of pool. Though I can't say anything about what to expect from the food there, the drinks are pretty standard and come from a well-stocked bar. The bartenders are really attentive and do a great job of getting to everyone at the bar. The free pool table was a plus, but the five dollar cover for the band was a minus. Just because it's Irish themed doesn't necessarily mean that the music or environment is going to be very Irish. But since it is Irish, I got a nice Jameson on the Rocks for a great, dive bar price. The Dubliner isn't really a place you go to to have amazing drinks, but a place you go to for the environment. The drinks don't disappoint though, and if you're in the mood, you'll have an amazing time. GET: Jameson on the Rocks

so, like any good critic, I have visited The dubliner three (3) times. My first visit was a couple years ago with an old drinking buddy who enjoyed the local atmosphere, friendly bartenders and waittresses and well priced cocktails and beers. Nothing out of the ordinary but definitely left a "gotta go back there impression." Plus they knew his name. Second Visit: Drinking after work on a Tuesday. Great happy hour beer selection (beginning at 3:00 if I remember correctly...don't know why I was done with work by 3:00 on a Tuesday but it must have been a good day) had a couple of pints and then someone in the corner playing pool played a selection off the Alice in Chains Album "Jar of Flies" I was thoroughly impressed and my beer tasted that much better. Third visit: Last night for St. Pat's day celebration. Only a $5 cover---which impressed my girlfriend and actually was the reason I wrote this review--and erasonably priced Guiness, albeit in a can, but will explain later. As I walked in the door on this third visit i was greeted with by someone sitting behind a small table with a large bucket of beer asking if I would like a drink...scanning the St. Pat's size crowd/line at the bar I decided that a beer from a bucket would do just fine...and it (plus it's 4 following counter-parts) did. Great St. Pat's crowd, good enough irish music, a few too many student types (but that's my fault for being in Fremont), good beer, and to top it all off, they have that video game machine that let's you puch a punching bag as hard as you can to prove your man-hood to the rest of the bar...awesome. Definitely going to make this a more frequented spot...and try the food so I can have a much more well rounded review.

I discovered the Dubliner by accident one Monday this last summer and I'm happy to say that this was a delightful accident for sure! It happened to be karaoke night and that was the perfect ending for a night out with a friend of mine. We drank to our heart's content, we sang to our heart's content and we closed the bar down. What makes this place so amazing, and why my friend and I return as often as we can are the reasonable price of the drinks, the really cool "regular" crowd that comes out for karaoke and most importantly (take note dear reader) the amazing song choices! The collection of songs to choose from is simply outstanding! How many places have Tom Waits in their catalogue? Or even more obscure, Jonathan Coulton? The karaoke host is fair and fun to talk to and to top things off, he has a big group sing-a-long after every few rotations. Granted, the songs he picks are hit or miss, but that's all a part of the fun, and that's why I keep going back. It's fun! The karaoke party is every Monday and Tuesday. I wonder what the place is like the other days of the week.....?

This bar is pretty typical. The only special thing about this place is trivia night. Trivia night at The Dubliner is really fun and the quiz master is entertaining! The food is...whatever. It's not terrible, but I've certainly experienced better bar food. The pricing on the drinks are pretty typical, I think. Just about everything in this bar is pretty typical. The service, however, is something to be desired. The normal waiting time between ordering a drink and actually receiving a drink is about 10 to 15 minutes. That's just for a drink! I think if this place had one more server, this probably wouldn't be much of an issue. Most of the staff are pretty friendly, but there is one particular guy who I absolutely despise. Instead of coming up to the table to ask if we need anything, he'll stand about 10 feet away and look at our table to see if we're out of anything. Getting his attention is also quite a feat. Most of the time, it's just easier to order at the bar over waiting for our server to show up. There was one time where I was paying cash for a drink and was planning to leave him a tip at the end of the night. Well, I could hear the snark in his voice when he thanked a friend for leaving him a tip, so I just decided to not leave one for him at all. Look, I'm not expecting five star service when I come into a place like this, but it would be nice to be treated like customers and NOT inconveniences. It's a shame since this bar is in my neighborhood, but I doubt we'll be coming into The Dubliner for very much longer.

When I moved to Fremont, I was really excited about the bar scene. Overall, I am not really a party scene kinda girl. But I was really excited about having places within walking distance. In a year of living in this neighborhood, I think I have hone out like 4 times. I have been to the Dubliner a couple of times, but its always just for like one beer. They don't have an overly impressive beer selection. I am kinda picky. Also, its a weird ambiance. All the wood inside. Its a place for locals, and I am a local, and even I feel out of place here. Most of the time its not that crowded, which is also kinda weird. Because i live near here I will continue to go. But I don't like it!

Recently a fellow Yelper introduced me to how fricken awesome Rock Band is. Drums, Guitar, Bass, and singing. Add drinking into the equation and you've got yourself a killer time. Someone at the Dubliner recognized this as well. Tuesday nights, Dubliner employee Ernie sets up the Rock Band equipment around 9pm in the side room where the dart board and the comfy leather couches are. A small crowd gathers. And lo and behold, people who have never met each other are cheering each other on and jamming together. Just like a real band. Sans the heroin overdoses, trashed hotel rooms, and lead-singer/lead-guitarist dramatics. Thankfully. I was chilling out in that side room waiting for my friend to join me, reading Heinlein and drinking the $3 beer special (Hef on that particular evening) when Ernie and a lady friend walked in with the equipment and, apologizing profusely for disturbing me, rearranged the couches. My friend showed up, who had never seen Rock Band before, and we both joined in on the first couple songs. Thirsty business, I think we probably downed a drink per song. Which meant getting refills from the bar outside. I noticed a pool/billiards table, and a stage with some equipment set up where a band would typically play. The place is big and wooden, a pretty cool environment in my opinion. The bartender was really sweet, a bit quiet but it seemed because she was shy, not because she was unfriendly. TVs are mounted around the bar to give patrons a view of whatever their game of choice may be. My game of choice, though, was definitely Rock Band. I headed back later and finished out the night, singing the songs that everyone else was afraid to sing ('Tom Sawyer,' 'Don't Fear the Reaper,' and 'Vaseline') but that the guitarists were aching to play. Drinking and singing. Sounds like an Irish tradition to me.

I guess you could call it dive bar, at least by Fremont standards. Great place to start a night out with some beer, whiskey, and pool. I always enjoy my time here, and look forward to my next visit.

Brought a girlfriend of mine here for her 21st. I informed the bartender it was my friends 21st. She then turned her back on us after a meager happy birthday was wished. No free drinks were offered and it appeared the staff cared more about going home just after midnight than providing service... Smithwicks is offered, and that is why I have given them more than one star.

Pretty much the worst excuse for an Irish named bar. Ever. Not a bad bar - good HH, friendly/attentive staff, but Jesus, Mary and Joseph, boy-o, why are your riding the Ireland's coattails when it comes to bar themes? Pretty sure I never saw pinball machines in ANY pub in all of the Emerald Isle. Nor did I see cheese quesadillas on the menu either.

This place was aw-ite. It's touted as an Irish pub, but what makes it so? Just seems fairly ordinary to me other than the Irish-sounding/green sign. Well, I did have a Guiness here and an Irish whiskey, so maybe that makes it an Irish pub ;)

Decent watering hole but nothing to rave about! If you want to drink beer and kill time... this place will do. They have pool tables! Funny bar flies to watch too! By the way, this is a excellent meeting place... pretty close to Paseo and across Chiso... get it! Coat check? Yeah right!

Went here for a couple pints and also so that I could warm up after visiting the Sunday market. The place was inviting and the bartender (Karen) was friendly and welcoming. Sunday nights they have a $3.00 happy "hour" special on pints until 10 pm and will let you sample different offerings if you are not sure what to order. A new favorite.

Pretty solid spot to grab a great beer at a solid price with a non dbag crowd..

The Dubliner is a pretty grimy little Fremont pub, but the happy hours are incredible. It's not a bad place to grab a quick drink, but if you plan a night out there, you should plan on getting sloppy on cheap well drinks. The reason I know this? All their top shelf bottles are covered in dust, haha! No crime there, I love dive bars as much as the next guy, so "dive" in, grab a whiskey shot or a pint, and saddle up for a rough morning.

I went here on a Saturday night with some friends and this place was surprising empty. It was actually quiet mellow and nice until the DJ started spinning nothing but dance music which made no sense because there didn't seem to be any dance floor... This bar was kind of a dive compared to most of the other bars I've been to in Fremont, but not to the point where you'd be grossed out being there.

It's got beer, booze, food, pool tables . . . what else do you want in a bar. Geeze. Oh wait. How about clean tables, friendly servers, and non-volatile bar patrons. I guess drinkers can't be choosers.

Fun times at Dubliner. Audio system needs serious help though. Live bands end up sounding pretty bad with the current setup.

Good music and ok environment. This pub is a good option if you want to listen some old rock and have a beer with your friends. I ordered the french fries and I got a big basket of very good fried to perfect french fries which were the perfect choice for my guiness. The place is a little be dark but is wide enough to spend a nice time with your friends.

Average pub. Cheap drinks. Also pays to get to know the bartenders a little bit, if you're going to be dropping in on the regular. Grab a beer, play some darts...loser buys the next round!

Eh. What's to say about the Dubliner. I've been here a few times now. The last time they had a booth in the back huckstering some annoying website. While I appreciate the irony of posting lame things on websites about lame websites in bars (Well wait. Maybe I don't get it after all), I just haven't liked this place. It's a sticky-dirty bar full of sloppy drunks. Service is weak and goes to the regular or the big tits before you. They don't take turns and they might not get to you eventually. I guess they have music here. Maybe that would be a draw, but I doubt it.

I latched on to this place almost instantly upon moving to Seattle over a year ago, and it's still one of my favorite hang outs. The drinks are affordable, which seems to be a true rarity in this city, and the happy hour deals are outstanding. Perhaps the best dive in Seattle. However, don't show up for the $1 wells on Wednesday unless you're prepared to be croweded, and hit on relentlessly, even if you're holding hands with your significant other. The college crowd will swarm. The menu has been recently messed with and prices upped, and thusly their food is now quite over-priced. Don't bother unless you only want fries or wings. My favorite bartenders in the city work here. Very friendly, great drinks, awesome conversation when you show up by yourself. Parking is horrible. Don't bother. And be prepared for a deadly wave of drunk drivers and drunks stumbling in the streets at closing time, what with the amazing concentration of bars in Fremont.

I got a tattoo from around the block and I have a tradition of getting a beer (or 2... or...) after so I checked out the Dubliner for happy hour. I loved the place... it would be my local bar if I was a local. although I missed the cute bartenders with the low cut tops mentioned in another review! The bartender when I was there was a super nice older gentlemen (from Ireland I think.) My half and half was only $3.50 at happy hour... a damn fair price I'd say (I do live in LA though!) The place was down to earth and working class... perfect.

St Patties Day was fun as hell!! Quite the line to get in and to the bar, but I was prepared for such eventualities. My cuz was in town for his spring break and turned 21 a week before. He had never really been to a legit Irish pub... so I took him to the Americanized version of one!! I think he had fun.... I sure as hell did!

Mixed feelings about this place, but I have definitely had my share of good times here. This place has a punching speed bag that rates how hard you hit it and then shows your score. Always a good time. Bet drinks against your friend or random people. Fun to be had fo sho

The Dubliner is a great little dive in Fremont, I don't care what anyone else says about not getting enough free drinks and the staff being curt, if you want free orgasm shots because it's your birthday and a high five from your bartender, go to Pioneer Square. I like the staff there, especially when my Smithwick's is poured by an adorable rehead! They have a great industry night on Sundays coupled with a trivia night that isn't so difficult that you can't enjoy a drink or two while playing, but still not easy.

Had dinner at Chiso across the street while on a business trip to Seattle with my direct boss and the CEO of my company. Afterwards went across the street to the Dubliner for a drink. I was appointed as the guy to put the drinks on my corporate card. We had a very fun evening. Interesting crowd at the Dubliner and a good mix of hipsters, hippies, grungy types, and us. It was also Karaoke night. Drinks were reasonably priced and reasonably strong. At least from my San Francisco perspective. Anyway, an the end of the night we all stumble out of there and I forget my card. I realize this the next day, but we are already on the way to the airport and there is no way I can go back to Fremont to reclaim my card. After sufficient ribbing from the executive leadership, I called the Dubliner and they were kind enough to mail it back to me in SF! Good drinks, decent price, nice staff. Only qualm was one of the bartenders kept asking us to move from the spot where the green rubber mat is on the bar. This is the station where the cocktailer's pick up drinks. But the night we were there, I don't think any one was running drinks, so I don't really know why we kept getting asked to move.

My secret dream is to buy this location and open my own micro brewpub. I don't know though the Dubliner is so awful it even taints the brewpub in my dreams. That is the kind of staying power this place has. Aside from the booze and beer there is little reddeming about The Dubliner.

there were two things i couldn't say no to in college (very studious, was i) #1. any excuse not to study #2. dollar wells at the dub the bar's okay. but weekly seeing a bar full of anyone who knows anything, from your college of kids who've pledged not to drink is geeeeenius.

I live pretty close to The Dubliner and I've only been in a few times. While I understand the element of overall cleanliness is missing, and the regulars definitely march to the beat of their own drummer, my last visit completely changed my outlook - and I will be back. What started as a mellow night out at a Silvertips hockey game quickly turned into booze-fest '08 (it was a semi-bachelor party) and my night ended at The Dubliner. We rolled in at about 1am on a Tuesday night, and the bartender (Shawn) was quick to pour us some drinks and start up conversation. We were extremely rowdy and the bartender and bar patrons encouraged the shenanigans. The groom-to-be was even allowed behind the bar to make an announcement over the loud speaker. The bar closed and we still had beer left in our pitcher. The wait staff was kind enough to let us hang around and finish our drinks (not that we needed anymore beer). We had a great time. I know that the atmosphere is rather divey, but unless you're blind it's pretty obvious to see what you're getting into - the entire front of the bar is all windows. It's a hole in the wall, but it's great for a few beers and some happy hour deals. I'd definitely go back.

Well, ya know. It's a typical Seattle Irish pub. Nothing special, but sometimes that's just what the doctor ordered. They occasionally have local bands which I suppose make them a little different.

  • Sean T.

I've only been to the Dubliner for a few happy hours and during the day on weekends, but it's my kind of divey Irish bar. They offer great happy hour deals on food and drinks, plenty of room inside, the staff has always been friendly enough, and they serve one of the best burgers around - the black and bleu burger (the fries are pretty damn good too).

    (4)
  • Brenna F.

Really good happy hour prices (which includes REALLY cheap Guiness). Option of a sofa that is tucked away from the MainNastyArea. If you go with a group of friends, you'll have a good time. Every time I've gone with a very small group, the general vibe of the place ( "WE'RE ALL BITTER DRUNKS AND WE'LL AWAKE IN A GUTTER IN THE MORNING") feel overcomes everyone with gloom. PS - They have darts and a crappy pool table!

  • JJ E.

I will never go here again. They gave me last call on sat night at 1.38am and asked me to leave at exactly 1.45am. You could tell that the guy who asked me to leave just wanted to clear the bar so he could drink with his co-workers. $6 for a Guinness in a plastic paddy bar... Please wtf. This bar has absolutely nothing to do with Ireland or Irish people and is just another fake Irish bar using the name to drag in people. Its also extremely clique-ish so unless your tight with the staff don't expect good (or any) service.

If you like crowds of drunken humans then this is your spot. But then again many spots in Fremont seem to feature those types of antics. This is a great bar for when you feel like you want to get so drunk that you'll hate yourself the next day. I didn't feel like that so I left, but I can see how it would work oh so well. Oh so very well.

I went there on the hottest night of 2006. It must have been over a 100degrees in there at 10pm!! no air conditioner or what? I couldnt even finish my beer. Well anyways, I have friends who swear on this place and say its a blast with cheap cheap drinks. Ill give it another chance sometime when its not blazin

I have to disagree with the other reviews so far. This place may not be swanky, but neither is my wallet, which is why I make the Dubliner one of my favorite spots for grabbing a pint with a pal. Yeah, it is dark and kinda dingy.. but when you can get a really get Hefeweizen for 2 dollars why complain. I have yet to experience the half price (or is it one dollar?) well-drink night... but I hear there is usually a line out the door (I'll stick to the cheap beer nights). ps- old couches in the side room are great for large groups to all sit together.

My roommate calls this her type of bar. She spent her college years in Bellingham at WWU- if that gives you any background. We stumbled in here on Monday for HH when everything around seemed to be closed- it was our first visit. The beer was cheap and the chicken and fries basket $5- nothing else on the food happy hour looked that great. It was pretty tasty, better then the greasy mess that is Doc Watson's HH chicken, and the fries surprisingly good. Regulars were hanging out and talking to the bartender. He was pretty adorable- a little late in the years and had a accent. The people watching was great with a older lady, complete with yellow hair scrunchy, showing of her needle point to the regulars. On a return visit we found a little room off to the side that had leather couches, darts, and a boxing machine. We made it our clubhouse at the end of our makeshift Thursday night pubcrawl. This place is good for groups, never too full, and not trying to be something it is not. The lightening and atmosphere is dark. There are high tables and low booths. Also, there is pool and a jukebox. I like The Dubliner more now then on my first visit... and I feel it growing on me. How can you hate a place were a Ludacris look-a-like and his girl posse are talking to the worn looking older fishermen like they are long time friends. Did I mention that yellow hair scrunchy was there on my return trip too?

The people that work at the dubliner seem like they don't like working there, which is no suprise to me, I don't really like being there either. There is nothing terribly wrong with this place, it's just not my thing. . . and not very irish either. If you are looking for a pub or strong drinks, go elsewhere
