My partner and I came here last night (a Thursday night) about an hour before closing time. We were the only people in the place but the hostess/waitress was greeted us with a smile and did not make us feel like an inconvenience. A second family came in about thirty minutes before closing time and she seemed just as friendly with them as she did us. Service overall was pretty great, except about picking up our check at the end (but even that wasn't a real wait). As for the food, I ordered the Cucumber salad, gyoza, and California Rolls. My partner ordered the I Love Sushi Platter. The cucumber salad was delicious! Light, crisp, and the sauce was pretty good. I'm not too sure about the sesame seeds, but I still enjoyed it. The gyoza were amazing! The pork was so tender, the outside was not mushy at all, and the flavor was AMAZING. California Rolls are pretty standard wherever I've gone for sushi, but I really enjoyed them. The platter came with Miso Soup which I don't usually enjoy, but I had a taste and I thought it was quite good. The fish all looked fresh on his plate and he said that he quite enjoyed it. Overall, I would say this is an amazing neighborhood sushi place. We went during happy hour so the price wasn't too bad. Would give a five star except for the slightly slow service at the end and the somewhat dead atmosphere (though that may be with the time and day we went...)

My roommate and I were in the University District and wanted some sushi so we ended up here based on what we saw here on Yelp. It was easy to find and there was plenty of street parking. The restaurant was clean and quiet and we sat at the bar so we could watch the sushi chef(s). The waitresses and chefs were very friendly, attentive, and accommodating. We were blown away at how good the Arizona roll was- just avocado and spicy tuna but perfect for us! Unfortunately the agadashi tofu I ordered was overcooked over-sized (which definitely may not be a problem to some people), the seared salmon and ebi nigiri were good but overpriced, and the Coca Cola I was given was so flat that I just couldn't drink it. We will probably return just to stop in and have another Arizona roll, but most likely wouldn't bring friends or stay for anything else.

Me and my wife went to the sushi Tokyo couple days ago. It was really nice place clean the service was good but most important the sushi is fantastic. Will order California roll and Dragon kiss both of them was fresh and delicious. The time it seems that we were only customers they have at the time. So we got our food right away. I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family

Service was excellent. I ordered the gyoza, Seahawks roll, and sake roll. They were delicious. Each roll came with huge chunks of delicious fresh salmon, tuna, or BBQ eel. This meal with worth the money and I highly recommend coming here. The staff was extremely friendly and I felt at home.

Love the "I heart sashimi platter."Perfect array of types of fish! My favorite is always the spicy tuna roll and they had an interesting upgraded version of it. The traditional roll with more tuna and avocado on top. Definitely going back for another one of those.

The sushi at this place is really good. The rolls are big and the fish is tasty. Howevever. I got there after the dinner rush on Friday night and every single table and counter spot had dirty dishes. The server plopped me at the bar after clearing off a spot, gave me a glass of water, and disappeared. I put my order in and ended up having to ask the sushi chefs for chopsticks, a soy sauce dish, and my sake. The entire time I was surrounded by dirty dishes. When I ordered another roll? My two dirty plates stayed with me, I had to just push them to the side. (I added a pic of that.) I know it's Friday night, but there were maybe five parties including my solo-self, and no surfaces would get cleared unless someone came to sit. I was there for about an hour and a half. She could have just grabbed a tray, filled it up, and stuck it back in the kitchen. It was gross and made me feel uncomfortable.

We loved the sushi, however I am very Gluten Intolerant. I asked for Tamari, gluten free soy sauce. My stomach today is telling me that hidden in their cute clay soy container was something other than Gluten Free. We won't be back.

New favorite sushi place. it's close to home and mushashi is way way too crowded most days. fresh fish. funky rolls. favorite is the orange blossom and the spicy hamachi. they don't beat and macerate the fish to a paste which I LOVE and appreciate. we get the I HEART SUSHI AND SHASHIMA a roll and appetizer and call it good for 2. The happy hour isn't worth it. skimped on the tempura. might as well get the full order. nicely cut fish. I haven't had to pull the fascia or tough pieces out of my teeth like other places and pieces are generous. also very reasonable prices for rolls and combos. most times sushi is way overpriced here in Seattle and they all come from the se place really. it just depends on how the sushi chef cuts it and the temperature of the fish. oh yea you can fuck up sushi but I haven't been disappointed here yet. there was one incident of miscalculated tab from a young new guy so Check your tab before signing or if you're rich and don't give a shit..even better for them. I'd bring my parents here. Two steps up from conveyor belt sushi for sure.

I really enjoyed this place, it was very cute and delightful. I decided to order the I love sushi and sashimi platter and was quite pleased except for two small things, one of the types of sashimi looked a little off color but it was still delicious, and the plum wine was just a bit too cloying sweet for me. I never DON'T finish a glass of wine I order except for that time. Generally the sushi and sashimi both were delicious and I plan to try the sushi rolls next time!

3.5 stars. I always jump into Sushi Tokyo when I need a quick sushi fix. You can tell that the sushi is delicately made and is super fresh. There is quite the variety of rolls at Sushi Tokyo. I would definitely recommend the spicy salmon roll and the sakura roll (if you like white tuna). Dynamite roll is not like the usual baked dynamite. It doesn't have that sauce all over it. The crunch roll is just ok. Not really super special.

This is only a review based on the service and appearance, not the food. Came in around 6pm on what would be an expected "busy" Friday night, except there was NO ONE in there. (They open at 4pm) Meanwhile crossing thru our minds "is the fish fresh since there are no customers?" After being seated in the outdated worn bench seats and decor, we waited for a few minutes. (Mind you, the place was empty) After no one came to take our orders or attend to us, we simply left with no acknowledgement of the staff whatsoever. In conclusion: Vacant restaurant on a Friday night speaks volumes about this place. I doubt we will ever return to try the food.

I'll start by saying, don't trust the menu posted on this yelp site or on their actual website. Both stated they have Sukiyaki and they don't. I went specifically to this restaurant thinking my craving for sukiyaki would be satisfied -- it was rather disappointing. I ended up getting the tofu udon soup. It was actually very tasty, filled with veggies with a great broth. For dessert we ordered the mochi ice cream. I felt like they were trying too hard. The mochi ice creams were cut in half, placed in a martini glass, covered with chocolate syrup and topped with a cherry. Okay -- you want to be trendy? Can you at least say that before hand or maybe provide a picture? First, I'm allergic to maraschino cherries. Second, the chocolate syrup ruined and covered up the taste of the mochi ice cream. Third, the mochi ice cream was of poor quality and tasted artificial, you can buy tastier mochi ice cream from Trader Joes! Lastly, let's talk about the actual physical environment. I would not come to this spot if you were planning to spend more than an hour at your meal. Why? The seats are rock hard. You're basically sitting on tough wooden benches with measly wimpy 'cushions'. Sushi Tokyo is more of a, order, eat as quickly as possible and then leave type of place. Overall, I might come again to this spot for their Tofu Udon but more than likely will take it to-go.

If you're in the Greenlake area check them out! The rolls and tempura that I had were very good. And they staff was very kind to us. Reasonably priced too. Enjoy!

Amazing rolls. Amazing quantity of fish in each roll. The cherry blossom and orange blossom rolls are huge and have so much salmon/tuna in them...i want this right now! Nice hidden gem on roosevelt. It's officially been added to my sushi rotation.

On this 31-degree February day, I was in search of a steaming bowl of udon soup and boy did I find it at Sushi Tokyo! I've tried udon at a number of other restaurants around Seattle, and so far this is my new favorite! I am full, warm, and happy!

It's hard enough to save money these days and every time I find a place that makes amazing sushi, it gets just a little bit harder. The restaurant is smallish, cute, and quiet which I find to be a perfect atmosphere for enjoying mountains of fresh fish. I've read other reviews that talk about "slow service" which cracks me up. Sushi is food and art combined, and Sushi Tokyo does both in stellar fashion. The Space Needle roll is pretty much my dream sushi roll - two different kinds of delicious tuna and tempura shrimp in a crunchy tempura roll that is a rich, flavor explosion in every bite. The Spicy Dragon roll is a delicious variation of the original Dragon that uses a spicy tuna roll base instead of a common california roll. The unagi is fresh and delicious and provides a really unique clash of flavor I'm not used to in sushi rolls. The Cherry Blossom roll is beautiful and delicious. Tuna, Salmon and Avocado all coming together in perfect harmony. Even though this was the simplest roll I tried, it disappeared the fastest by far. I can't wait to return and try more of these outstanding sushi rolls.

My favorite neighborhood sushi place, definitely fresh and their menu has a great selection. They could use a bit more help on the weekend because the last few times I've been it has been pretty full with only one waitress working. So be prepared to wait a bit.

I wish I good give 5 stars for the fish and 3 for the service. We've been here multiple times and there's just one woman who serves the entire space, along with one man preparing the fish and one or two folks in the back. So service is always slow; the last time we went on a Friday, there was almost nowhere to sit, since none of the tables had been cleared. We ate our meal at the sushi bar and weren't even given a glass of water; other came in and left after they couldn't get service. But the sushi is great! The chirashi bowl is our new favorite - generous slices, fresh fish, great rice. The guy is great and clearly puts a lot of effort into his dishes. We'll just be ordering takeout from now on.

Pretty solid sushi place. I tried three nigiris: steelhead, hamachi and geoduck. The seafood was fresh and flavorful, and I liked the assembly: relatively small pieces, with a good fish-to-rice ratio. The hamachi came topped with some green onions; that was a nice touch. I also tried a couple of rolls: the Willamette (a spicy scallop roll topped with salmon) and the North Seattle (hamachi and avocado topped with a bunch of things). Both good, but I think the Willamette was the winner here. Take a look at the menu on the website; they've got some unusual options at pretty reasonable prices. Service was helpful and friendly, if not particularly fast. This place will probably become my go-to neighborhood sushi joint.

Excellent, quality sushi. The rolls are all beautiful, creative, and delicious. Their salads are fantastic, too. Very friendly, but really slow service. Expect dinner to take some time. Favorite dishes are the Alaska roll, the orange blossom roll, and the sashimi bowl. Oh, and don't forget to start with the tuna sashimi salad!

I live within walking distance and so it's great to have good sushi so close. The fish is very fresh and rolls are wonderful!

Let me start by saying this place had a really nice ambience. The restaurant seemed clean and the booth tables were really nice. The service and the food, however, I was not so impressed with. I made the mistake of ordering sashimi, while the three friends I was with all ordered specialty maki. All of the specialty maki was good, but my sashimi was pretty gross. The color and the taste of the fish was off-- it clearly wasn't so fresh. This was confirmed when I was sick later. Further, the service wasn't great either. Our waitress was very nice, but she constantly babysat our table, standing only a few feet away, facing towards us during the majority of the meal. She also tried to push extra appetizers and desserts on us. It made us all feel pretty uncomfortable. Prices were average, but considering the quality of the food and the awkward service, I will not be returning.

Our usual spot for sushi is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so we decided to venture out of our comfort zone and try a different place for dinner today (Monday). Unfortunately, we should have waited til our usual spot opened for the week, because over 6 hours later, both of us are still running for the bathroom. The sashimi we had here were not fresh, had no flavor, and the rice was dry. Should have known not to try this place out if there were only 4 other tables besides us during dinner hours. Not busy=not fresh. We won't be returning.

  • Sandeep K.

Extremely friendly and nice staff and the good is great too! The gyoza is really good, that and the seaweed salad are the apps to get. In terms of rolls, the lion king, the red snake, kiss of dragon, are all my go-tos!

  • Jessica B.

One of my favorite places to go in the Roosevelt neighborhood. I can't recommend the Kane (snow crab) enough. The tempura is tasty and well executed. The house sake is tasty. The service can be slow, but they are busy- well worth the wait.

    (4)
  • Star F.

Food is good but staff is very small--wait time is at least 20 minutes to get your food after you order. They need more workers! Bowls for miso are really worn down--may be time to get new ones.

    (1)
  • Erica D.

good fresh sushi but a little pricy compared to other places. The rolls are good enough to be worth it but the basic rolls are great so no need to get all specialty rolls. Will definitely go again

I really enjoyed my sushi lunch special here, the price was great and my fish & eel were delicious and fresh. (I'm assuming it was the couple that owns it) were really cute and the service was friendly, she was the waitress, he was the chef. Overall cute family owned place with good food & I love supporting places like that.

Up here from Portland for two days on business, and decided to look in the nearby area for a good place that I and my partner could satisfy a sushi hankering. After reading some Yelp reviews, we settled on Sushi Tokyo. It was a pretty dead night, maybe 5 people in the whole place, but that was fine by us--after a long day's work we weren't into the prospect of big crowds anyway. We each ordered a bowl of their Udon with tempura shrimp and other yummies such as a quail egg. It was excellent on this cold 35-degree night. On to the sushi. After all, with a name like "Sushi Tokyo" one must try the sushi. And that we did. Four orders in total, we had Maguro (Tuna), Saba (Mackerel), Sake (Salmon) and a lovely Hamachi Roll. We agreed the Tuna was about average, I've had better but I've also had much worse. The other three selections were great. The Salmon was two huge pieces and the flavor and texture was excellent. The Saba was very good, though not world class (especially at $4.50). The Hamachi roll was also excellent. In all, a great meal. We found the prices a bit on the expensive side, but perhaps that's just pricing differences between Portland and Seattle. Down in Portland, I usually expect to pay $4-4.50 for Maguro and Salmon, and maybe $3.00-3.50 for Saba. Here it was all in the $5-6 range (but again, this may be normal for Seattle as I'm not totally familiar with "going rates" for sushi up here). It was a great meal, and we're definitely keeping it on our places to hit while we're occasionally up here.

I've been eating here for about 5 years and love it! It's always fresh and high quality. And, I love the unique variety of rolls offered.

Stopped in here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised that they had HH. Half off some of their appetizers. We had the adegashi tofu, 2 rolls, green tempura, and an avacado roll. Everything was good. I liked the tofu and the avacado roll was very fresh. I'd probably pass on the tempura next time, but it was decent. I can't remember what the two rolls we had were as there were so many options on the menu that all the names blend together now. I do know I ordered one with lots of salmon and I think tuna in it. The bf ordered something w all sorts of diff fish, maybe a rainbow roll? Both rolls were enjoyable and the fish is fresh, although I wouldn't say the most flavorful ie. I probably wouldn't get nigiri here, but in a roll, the fish went well with everything else. I like this place as it's close to my house and it's one of the only places nearby that I can have a good sushi dinner. Definitely a good option when I don't feel like driving downtown for sushi.

I dined at Sushi Tokyo tonight and the experience was a tad lacking. Service was slow; it took well over half an hour for my table's food to arrive. My own dish, a collection of sashimi, arrived so late that I started eating when my friends were finishing up. Speaking of the sashimi--the dish titled "I Love Sashimi (Large)"--the menu noted that it came with rice. I assumed, not too unreasonably I think, that the rice would be sushi rice. That is, after all, what typically comes with sashimi. It seems, however, that my assumption was rather premature. Warm jasmine rice does not, I assure you, go particularly well with raw fish. Other people's dishes were not much better. The presentation and quality was on par with what I would expect from a takeout joint. Finally, the tea is $1 per person. I'll let that speak for itself.

Drove over the mountains for some business in the University District and had a hard time picking a place for lunch. I was astounded at the sheer number of restaurants in a few small blocks. Seriously, close your eyes, throw a dart at a map, and you will find small "mom and pops" eateries of any ethnicity you hit! But being in Seattle, had to go with seafood, and that means sushi. With a quick flip through Yelp, chose Sushi Tokyo. Decor was quaint and pleasant. Very casual and quiet. Cleanliness was obviously important to them and I was pleased. The waitress spoke broken English, but was very attentive and polite. The food. Wow. That's all I need to say. Wow. We had miso as a starter and 3 rolls. Kiss of Dragon, Seattle, and Seahawk. The miso was deep and rich with the perfect amount of green onion back notes. All the fish (the reason why I LOVE Seattle) was impeccably fresh. The rice was soft with an exquisite balance between salty and sweet. The combination of ingredients and flavors made for some of the best sushi I have ever eaten. The rolls were generous and truly melted in your mouth. I have eaten at some of the big boys in Seattle, including Shiro's. Sushi Tokyo was every bit as good, with a much less pretentious setting....and a smaller check lol. A must try for any sushi-phile headed to the University District!!

I have had their dinner box with tonkatsu and teriyaki. The tonkatsu was nicely fried. The teriyaki chicken was pretty standard and nothing to write home about. This place also has a variety of rolls. It does not appear to be Japanese owned. So if you only eat sushi from Japanese-owned places, then you can skip this place. Otherwise, it is a pretty standard Japanese restaurant.

It seems about right for the price. Nothing exceptional but would probably come back if I was craving sushi and in the area. A few of us shared had spicy tuna, Hawaii roll, spider roll, Cali roll and the Dragonkiss. Dragonkiss was very sweet and the Macadamia nuts in the Hawaii roll didn't work for me, but to each their own. The seawood salad was your typical costco style salad. I really liked the green tea....!! Closes at 9:30pm on weeknights and you may feel uncomfortable if you come in after 8:30 like we did (around 8:40)... there weren't many people in the restaurant and it didn't seem like they wanted to seat more tables. We were out by closing time without issue, though.

  • Aayo Gorkhali K.

Good price, clean ambiance , good customer service and quality food are some of the characteristics of this hidden gem in the Roosevelt neighborhood. Their food is always consistent here. Their teriyaki chicken can easily beat any teriyaki in the university district. It's soft, moist , fresh and delicious. Same can be said to their sushi. The guy behind the sushi bar is the owner and he is always best at his job. So next time if you are in the Roosevelt area and your taste buds demand sushi, Sushi Tokyo is the answer.

Rounding out a Friday evening with good sushi in North Seattle can be a toss. Sushi Tokyo just happens to be down the road from me and had plenty of seating that night. The boyfriend and myself split a sashimi platter which was decent, nothing super outstanding. Menu has plenty of options for your standard rolls, nigiri, and sashimi. If you're looking for a close by place in the Ravenna woods, this would be a good option.

Came here for dinner recently and I was pleasantly surprised! The sushi is not the best I've ever had (also not the worst), but they get 5 stars for all the vegetarian sushi options. Seriously, I have never been to a sushi place with such an extensive of a veggie section. The prices aren't that bad either. I mean, sushi is always on the pricey side, but this place didn't break the bank like some others have. And they have a really good happy hour: half-off certain appetizers until 9pm. This is a great neighborhood sushi joint. If you live in the area, definitely check it out.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Asked before I ordered if I could be in and out within 15 minutes. Waitress said sure! I ordered Spicy Tuna. I had my roll and check I'm under 5. The roll was fresh and delicious. The service excellent. I gave it 4 stars cause I only tried one roll...will def come back and give it thar extra star if next experience as good as this was!

This joint has the longest wooden bench seat you will ever see! If it is a drizzly day on Roosevelt then brighten up your lunch with this sunny presentation of the Orange Blossom - tuna & avocado in the center and covered in salmon for $12.95 :)

  • Dan W.

A few happy hour specials into dinner time. Food appears to be carefully prepared. Salmon nigiri didn't taste super fresh. Space needle roll was good, liked the sauteed red onion. Couldn't order the Dynamite appetizer, sounded like they don't make it any more. So if you want spicy, there is either spicy dragon or spicy rainbow rolls available.

  • Allie G.

The only reason I'm giving this place more than one star is the fact the sushi was decent. I walked in on a Monday night, at 8:00 and the place wasn't terribly busy. I finally started getting my food at 9:15. The sushi chef needs to 1) better manage his tickets or 2) get more help behind the bar. Do yourselves a favor and make the drive to Mashiko (West Seattle) or Kisaku (Tangletown), where they have competent and friendly sushi chefs and prompt waitstaff.

The two rolls I ate were perfect! I don't see how you can make food taste any better. It looked fantastic! I just loved it! The service was really great as well. I was actually surprised with everything here! The chef offered up suggestions no problem witch is nice. Thanks for being close to my house Sushi Tokyo, ill see you soon!!

Sushi Tokyo is a good local sushi joint for the locals around the 65th and Roosevelt neighborhood. Service is friendly. Fish tastes fresh. The prices are good and they have a 1/2 off appetizers deal every day around dinner time. Is it the best sushi in Seattle? No, not even close. But if you're a local, it's good enough.

  • Amy G.

Reliably delicious with very high quality fresh fish. There are also lots of yummy vegetarian options. The prices are also very reasonable. This is my go to sushi place in town. Love it!

Wow. What more can I say! The best sushi tuna that I have ever had. Everyone needs to try the o toro and chu toro. Fresh off the boat. I have been to over a hundred sushi restaurants all over the world, including japan. And remember people... you need to know what to order for your taste buds. Don't blame it on the chef when it tastes bad. The owners are a very cute couple with great smiles! Locally owned! They know there fish. And good sushi is never fast sushi. Come on people! If your in a hurry go to QFC.

Lunch:Bento box. Service:Excellent. Food:Yummy. Location: Very good. Roosevelt area off Ravenna. Parking: Easy during lunch, I parked in front. Prices: Lunch is $9 What I like is the comfy atmosphere and the service is excellent, courteous and fast. During lunch I get seated right away. No real hotties work there, but the service and quality of sushi and other foods make up for that. Return?: Oh yeah.

Almost a year since I've relocated and I'm STILL on the great search for my go-to sushi restaurant. Sushi Tokyo is a lot of great things. Clean, timely, reasonably priced, polite and open later than most restaurants in the area. However, it does not knock my shoes off and I am in desperate need to find sushi in this city that does. I go here pretty much to satisfy any sushi craving I have but I keep my order pretty simple - salmon roll, tuna roll and a miso soup.

  • Leonard P.

Met some friends here on a rainy evening, and hoped to find another great sushi joint in a city teeming with them. It wasn't that, but it's perfectly fine: the sushi isn't the best you can find -- living here has given me a very high standard for fish-and-rice combos -- but it's plentiful and very affordable; their everyday prices are the rival of what you pay at most other joints during happy hour. The space is very homey and welcoming, and the service was spectacular; the food came quickly and everything we wanted was brought to us with no delay. It's definitely a family-style sushi joint rather than the kind you take people to impress them, but sometimes that's just what you're looking for, and when it is, this is a fine place to go.

Had been craving sushi for a while and was in the area. Yelp pointed me towards Sushi Tokyo and I'm glad it did! We got the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, shrimp tempura and california. Holy crap these rolls were delicious! Creamy, flavorful and perfectly made. The waitress was super cute and friendly. We had left when she was in the back and she ran out the door and made sure to say "bye" and "have a nice day!" It was pretty freaking adorable. I will definitely be coming back to try some of the more crazier rolls.

This has become our go-to sushi place- we're in here at least once a week now. We usually get the small I love Sashimi plate and maybe a spicy dragon roll. Always super fresh and delicious, and its nice having a place where the staff is friendly and remembers you and smiles when you come in.

[ 3.5 ] I never went in before because the exterior always looked a bit run-down and unwelcoming. However, the same can't be said for the interior. It's wonderfully inviting, and I really like the layout of the tables. Tables closer to the back of the restaurant have benches with little pillows on them. :) The waitress was friendly and kind enough. But one server for the entire restaurant? Poor thing: she was a hostess, server and a busser all in one. Though the service was a little on the slower side (it was a bit before we got menus, our waters etc) it was understandable and the restaurant's atmosphere was pleasant enough that time passed enjoyably enough. There are certain things about this restaurant that I appreciated: real chopsticks (I really, really don't like those wooden chopsticks that you break apart) resting mini dishes for your chopsticks and a personal teapot with my teacup. But great interior and kind service can't really boost your three star food to a four star food. While its possible that we may have ordered the wrong things (since kitchen food and rolls are likely where their strength is) the Chirashi was a bit of a let down. While the portions were generous, the quality was so-so. As for my Saba Shio, it came with only lemon. :( Where was the green onion and daikon oroshi? And the ponzu (when I finally did request it) was overly sweet. The saba was really good, it was just under-seasoned. The tempura appetizer (though small) was very good. This is your standard family style Japanese restaurant. Its a great neighborhood restaurant, and we will certainly be back when we want to eat somewhere close and basic.

My favorite weeknight sushi joint. Minus one star for speed, but otherwise it's a really solid joint. Also, they have like a 9-hour-long happy hour. Can't go wrong.

The food is actually great here. But the service. Oh. My. God. Multiple visits, and multiple waits that make rock formations look snappy. Seriously people. Fix it.

If you're after royalty-like treatment, to see and to be seen, this is not the place to be. But if you're seeking a place with good quality japanese food, but down to earth ambiance (and price), then this may be for you. It was surprisingly quiet given the good yelp rating and 8:30 on a friday night, noting the neighborhood it's naturally not the fanciest of restaurants. We both hesitated a little, but having seen the pictures of food and interior, I knew it can't go too wrong. We got seated in one of the booths, and ordered the spicy dragon along with an arrangement of sushi's. The quality of the fish and the rice are both very good so we went on to order some more sushi and also got a bowl of udon to share, which was also good quality. Everything was very down-to-earth, which is what I really like. I wasn't in the mood for "pay a lot of money and look super classy". I saw people doing take-outs, but I like my sushi's super fresh :)

Surprisingly good!! Try the caterpillar, lion, and crazy horses. Avocado and California are good as well!!! Everything is fresh and tasty! I think it is one of the best sushi's around green lake, or rather the only!! It has such unique variety of rolls! will definitely be going there again.

This is my favorite place to get sushi in Seattle. If you want a really incredibly fresh piece of fish, I've never had it as good as here. The Alaskan roll is to die for. The service is very attentive and it's in a nice area on Roosevelt. It can get a bit quiet in the restaurant, I feel weird sometimes for talking in a regular tone, like the whole place can hear me.. maybe some background music would help? I can always count on it, though, for an awesome plate of sushi. Paired with a pedi/mani down the street at Hoa, this would make the perfect outing for a group of ladies!

Nothing fancy, but good food. I went for lunch with the boyfriend and we both tried out the combos. He had the sushi combo and said that everything was good, especially the spicy tuna, although the hand roll was a bit mysterious. I had the teriyaki salmon combo and everything was tasty and the teriyaki wasn't overly sweet. We also tried the gyoza and liked them a lot. We had pretty good service, but we were also the only table there on a Saturday late lunch. This isn't the best Japanese in Seattle-- my favorite of the few I've tried is Village Sushi-- but it's not as expensive as the ritzy options and it's definitely better than most of your options on the Ave.

Great line up of special rolls and your basic stuff. Fresh and reasonably priced. Best in local area I've had. Done with the Blue C style unless I'm desperate... They even have Siracha at the table! Kudos... PS get he Chutoro if available. (fatty tuna) Awesome! Melts in your mouth....

Decent rolls and kitchen menus for a fraction of price. Average service. Sashimi wasn't that fresh. Convenient location.

I can eat sushi everyday. Glad I could find a great restaurant in the hood! I was flying solo so it was pretty easy to fit me in at the sushi bar. The service was great and the staff was very attentive. I ordered a glass of plum wine and they started me off with some complimentary edamame. I then moved on and ordered Nigiri- Tuna and Eel. The Eel melted in my mouth! I also ordered a Spicy Salmon roll- probably too basic. Next time I am going try a roll from their vast selection of specialty rolls. Everything tasted great and was very fresh. If you are in my hood- Roosevelt/Greenlake- and you have the fever for the flavor of fresh sushi, go no further than Sushi Tokyo.

My girlfriend and I are big fans of sushi. We have a place that we love in Juanita called Otto Sushi. I know it is kind far from Seattle but it is totally worth it. We decided to try this new place in U district. It is a big restaurant with a nice atmosphere. We ordered calamari for apetizers that were tasteless. Miso soups were ok. We had then 4 different rolls. There was really nothing exceptional about Them. Also the tuna for one of the roll was dark meaning not very fresh.... This place was almost empty on a Saturaday from 12pm to 1pm. I really don t recommend this place. Just try Otto Sushi in Juanita and you ll find out about what are good rolls

Over the past year this has become our group's go-to place for sushi nearby. They have lots of standard and specialty rolls (the seahawk and the Lion King are personal favorties) as well as rice and noodle dishes for our picky eater friends. The only complaint I have is that the portions are somewhat smaller than expected for an establishment located so close to UW, even when it comes to the non-sushi items. I understand the sometimes necessary sacrifice of quantity for quality, but I do wish that they gave that incentive to make it easier for us to convince our hungrier guy friends to tag along.

Decent enough food, but for a pretty hefty price. That would normally warrant a 3-star rating. However, the service was horrendous--the waiters with whom our entire party dealt were rude and condescending. Also, for some reason, one person's meal came out after everyone else had already finished their meals. Wouldn't recommend coming here unless you enjoy getting gouged and being treated poorly by the waitresses.

I've been to Sushi Tokyo a handful of times, and it's always been a good experience. It's never been very busy when I've eaten there, and it's quiet enough inside that I've found myself talking in a soft voice. The interior is lovely, and the service is friendly (try finding that at Blue C). Also, it's usually easy to find street parking this far up Roosevelt. Of the sushi I've tried here, my favorite has been the Unagi roll ($5.95), the Seattle roll ($8.95), the Las Vegas roll ($8.95), and the Godzilla roll ($10.95). My girlfriend always orders the Green roll ($7.95), which is a delicious blend of deep-friend green union, asparagus and avocado. I'll try and update this review the next time I stop in for a bite.

Absolutely my favorite Sushi in Seattle!! This is actually the first place I ever had sushi--almost 10 years ago! But I believe it was under different management back then. Anyway, the sashimi is amazing and flavorful and the rolls are creative and delicious. THE MAZEY ROLL is the most amazing thing you will ever put in your mouth, hands down. GET IT!! The service is fine, not stellar, but you get your food in a timely manner and that's all that really matters to me, honestly. I love Sushi Tokyo! =^_^=

This place. fantastic. More pricey but you get actual food but I go here at least once a week. My brother says the noodles suck. Big rolls, good raw fish. Last waitress I got didn't know the word "less".. She was obviously new.. Go to the chef.. He knows that word XD

Chirashi!!!!!! What an awesome pokemon name that'd be! CCCHHHIIIIRRRAAASSSHHHHIIIII. razor leaf! Seriously, really good and reasonably priced. Came with edamame pre-app for the table and a miso soup and salad. Miso is your typical miso and salad is blah, but it was free so no complaints here. That and a yummy, massive chirashi bowl all for $16.95. Unlike Musashi's the waitress was super nice and friendly, the seating is roomy and the fish did not come still frozen. (Seriously bit into the fish and my teeth felt like I had just bit into an iceberg at Musashi's. bleh) Glad I gave Sushi Tokyo another try! So yummy. I ate so much I left as a Snorlax. *Blocks rivers*

I stopped by here on my thirty minute break to see if they could get me a quick lunch, and they sure did! Walked in and it was pretty empty, but then again, my breaks are at awkward times, I went a few minutes just before their lunch phase was about to end. I ended up ordering their sashimi lunch for 13.95. Although the portions seemed kind of small, it was absolutely delicious, and honestly quite reasonable considering that it was sashimi afterall. Owners are Korean, and incredibly friendly. I'll be back!

Hands-down my favorite restaurant -of any kind- in Seattle. I could eat at Sushi Tokyo every night of the week and not get tired of their sushi. Best bets: the spicy tuna rolls (deliciously creamy), the sake nigiri (always perfect, never fishy), the Alaska rolls (ginormous and spicy and crisp), and the Aloha rolls (sweet and creamy). I also love their udon soup, especially when they're generous with the eggs and mushrooms. As someone previously mentioned, the parking here is insane - you would expect that a restaurant right on Roosevelt would be a bear to park at, but of the dozens of times I've been I've only had to park around the corner 2-3 times. Every other time there is literally parking right out front. If that isn't a sign that the universe wants you to eat here, what is??

This is a cute little place and I decided to try it after reading some of the mixed reviews to see for myself. It's definitely much cuter, warm and cozy on the inside. Service was brisk and friendly for the lunch hour. It wasn't overly crowded, nor was it empty so i always take that as a good sign. I did try their Mazey roll and it was delicious! But, the other rolls were ok to sorta meh. All in all, it would be more on my hit list if it happened to be in my neighborhood. It seems like just the kind of place where you could become a regular and the staff and owners would get to know you. Otherwise, I wouldn't drive out of your way to eat here. Parking is street and there are spots on the side streets which you don't have to pay or if you're looking for parking on Roosevelt Way, it tends to turn over pretty frequently so I don't think you would have trouble finding a spot.

Full on sushi review. Personally I like a roll where I can fit the entire piece in my mouth. This is not the case with any specialty roll, beware. I always without fail order spicy tuna, here it tasted okay but appearance was awful. I had the Philly roll(the only one with cream cheese) and half the roll was fry bread topped with a tsp of salmon roe. California crunch roll required three bites per piece, c'mon to was just nasty. The Las Vegas roll was good but had they taken half of the imitation crab out I could have finished it and enjoyed everything the roll had to offer. Take all that away and the place looked garosss, thank god I didn't fine inside. I am in Wedgwood but will be traveling to kenmore's iqueque for discount sushi that has much more variety and good sushi. Wish I could get my fifty bucks back. Here's hoping I don't get sick.

I've been coming here for almost 5 years now, and I can honestly say that it's some of the best Sushi in town. I usually stick to the rolls and sashimi, so I can't speak for other items on their menu. I have never been disappointed by the food or service. Highly recommend this place!

Great service at this casual neighborhood restaurant. The sushi was not bad, but if it weren't so close to home I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here. We liked the caterpillar roll and spider roll. Good portions for the price. The half-price appetizers during extended happy hour (3-9pm daily, I think?) are a nice plus (the gyoza are yummy!), as is the complimentary edamame when you are seated. I'd like to try the teriyaki sometime, or go for the dinner combo.

Lunch at Sushi Tokyo was exactly what I needed this afternoon! A wonderful pick-me-up before running errands. I had the place to myself at around 2:30pm on a Thursday afternoon, and for $8.95 I enjoyed the Lunch Combination (the lunch menu is served until 3:30) - I chose the half order of udon and the tempura as my two dishes. I requested green tea and was served a nice genmaicha (which didn't end up on my bill, by the way). I also had an order of hamachi nigiri ($5). Everything came out super fast, and my server and an older woman (the owner?) were both very friendly and attentive to me. The udon was delicious, with a flavorful broth and lots of fresh vegetables. The tempura was a selection of veggies plus one large prawn. The raw fish was as tasty as could be. My Combination even came with a nice big bowl of hot miso soup and some steamed rice, so it was plenty of food! The place has lots of seating in booths and at the sushi bar. I am so pleased to know this place in the neighborhood, and I will definitely be back!

We got take out from here, mostly due to its close proximity to my house. I found the sushi enjoyable and satisfactory, but not fantastic. Especially for the price (it wasn't terribly expensive but it was a little too pricey for the quality we got). Spicy salmon = delicious!!! The Boston roll was good but nothing too special, the shrimp tempura was beautifully presented but not taste-bud spectacular. And most sadly, the pickled ginger was artificially sweetened (I can't stand artificial sweeteners) and we didn't get QUITE enough wasabi... The rolls were a little small and not wrapped very tightly (fell apart kind of easily). The roe didn't quite... POP in my mouth. A little disappointing, but not terrible.

Been to several sushi restaurants in the Seattle area, but decided to try Sushi Tokyo. We really enjoyed this place, it is usually slow when we go in, but it also looks like they get alot of carry-out orders. I especially enjoy that they have alot of choices, and the sushi is always super fresh!

I really love Sushi Tokyo. It's solid sushi and they have fun rolls that I love. Our favorite is the Sakura roll. It's not on the menu, but it's often on the special board. I had to write it into our takeout menu so I would never forget the name. It's super white tuna on the outside, spicy tuna inside, plus some other stuff. Yummy. We also like the spicy scallop roll.

Went there the other night with some friends who had heard good things about this place. Looks can be deceiving because from the outside it kind of looks like an old dingy Teriyaki place but when you go in, it isn't anything like that. The atmosphere is super chill, quiet, and relaxing. There were five of us for the night and we started out with an appetizer of Agedashi Tofu, and since it was during happy hour we got it half off, and it came with 6 pieces which fed all of us and was definitely a good deal. The tofu was fresh and warm and definitely tasty. Then we all ordered different rolls; Lion King Roll, Alaskan Roll, Orange Blossom Roll, Las Vegas Roll, Aloha Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and the Seahawk Roll. All of the rolls were delicious, none of my friends complained! My favorites though had to be the Lion King Roll and Las Vegas Roll. It is definitely a great place to go for good sushi, at a decent price. I like it way better than village sushi which is ridiculously over priced. Me and my friends will definitely be going back and hopefully trying more on the menu and the dessert as well!

Seriously the best spicy tuna I've ever had...ever. Instead of shredding it like most places, the tuna is fresh, diced chunks of tuna in the most perfectly spicy sauce. Delicious! I'm addicted to the Red Snake roll which is filled with spicy tuna and topped with maguro and avocado. The Mazey roll is also super yummy. The sushi chef/owner is so talented and quick to make a recommendation. Just ask. If you haven't had sushi here, you haven't had some of the best sushi available in Seattle.

I've eaten at nearly all the sushi places in the area, including the "innovative" Rain sushi....it doesn't even compare. Tokyo sushi has the most delicious, interesting rolls around. I'm a particular fan of the "Green Roll" with tempura fried asparagus and smothered in avocado. My boyfriend likes to go and order whatever has the most interesting name. His favorite is now the "Lion King". The only drawback is the service. There used to be an older woman as the main waitress but in the last few months she's been replaced by a girl who looks to be barely out of her teens (I get the feeling this place is a family affair). The girl isn't your typical "too-busy-texting" bad waitress, I get the feeling she just doesn't know what she's doing. Perhaps it'll improve as she learns the ropes a little more. Still, the wait for water and the check is worth the delicious rolls!

One of my ongoing quests is to find a good sushi place in Northgate. I haven't had much luck yet, but Sushi Tokyo, while not exactly in my neighborhood, is close enough that I thought it was worth a shot. The outside doesn't look that promising, but once you step inside, the interior is cheerful and warmly lit, with a handful of tables and a few oversized booths made of black wooden benches (fortunately, small cushions are provided). We were seated right next to the obligatory fish tank, where we watched a half-dozen fat goldfish cruising around apathetically. On a Friday evening around 8:00, the place wasn't busy at all - there were no more than three parties in the restaurant at any time, so it was nice and quiet. The prices are about average, maybe a bit on the high side, considering the portion sizes. I had the sushi special ($12.95), which included 6 pieces of nigiri sushi and a six-piece tuna roll. The sushi included salmon, shrimp, octopus, mackerel, tuna, and yellowtail, artfully arranged on a pretty divided square plate. The fish was good quality, rich and smooth, but I wasn't full when I was finished. My dining companion had the "I Heart Sashimi" special ($16.95), which included a much bigger portion of fish. Both meals came with miso (fine) and salad (with that icky, salty pastel-orange dressing). I was intrigued by the banana tempura ($3), so we split that for dessert, but it wasn't all that impressive. The picture showed it smothered in whipped cream, which our banana did not have, and the tempura coating seemed thin and tasteless. Even with the chocolate syrup, it was only mildly sweet, and not worth getting a second time. Overall, Sushi Tokyo has pleasant, quiet ambience and attentive staff, and the food is decent. But I think the portions are too small, and the sushi not special enough, to justify the prices. They do offer a selection of crazy specialty rolls ($9-12) that might be more interesting, but I wasn't impressed enough to go out of my way to try this place again.

I travel a lot for work and sushi is one of my favorite things. So, I was thrilled to find such an amazing sushi bar just a few blocks from my house! The fish was fresh, portions were good and the price was right! I recommend not even bothering with the menu and just telling the sushi chef/owner what you like. He will take good care of you!

  • Bonnie C.

The sushi here is pretty good. The sashimi was big and the fish was fresh. The rolls were a little dry, but still ok. They have an interesting menu with a lot of variety and specialty rolls... this would definitely be a good place to visit with a group, as far as the menu goes. Sadly, the service was terrible. I had to seat myself after standing in the entrance for 10 minutes. I had to ask for a menu... then I had to ask for a glass of water. And chopsticks. And a soy sauce dish. All while there were maybe five people in the place. I think the waitress was new and she was extremely shy, so I hope she figures out that they only way she's going to get tips is if she picks up the pace and starts paying attention. Other stuff: big, clean space, lots of room at the sushi bar, fairly good value.

Good neighborhood sushi restaurant. The prices are good and I've always had good quality rolls here. Everything seems fresh. They have some great original sushi, like their baked rolls. That said, the service is always bad. Our strategy for enjoying Sushi Tokyo is to just ask for everything (water, spoons for your miso soup, chopsticks) instead of assuming it will be brought... because it won't.

I hope this place never shuts down. It's my absolute favorite sushi place in Seattle. The food is like artfully prepared crack and service is always great. The specialty sushi dishes like the "Seahawk" is like a party in your mouth...seriously, you'll faint with happiness. The owner/ chef at the bar is really stone-cold focused but don't worry, he doesn't bite. His wife/hostess is very sweet. I love the family-run restaurant feel to it, very cozy but quality as well.

OMG!!! Just kiddin.' But really! I'm stuffed! I think this is the first time I use Yelp in the "way" it was originally or meant to be used. I searched for a sushi place in the nearby neighborhoods, narrowed it down, read the reviews and by process of elimination FTW...Sushi Tokyo! It's not easy to find a sushi place that makes good vegetarian rolls; I don't expect it, but that's my only reason to patron a sushi restaurant. I love avocado, so I always look for some sort of avocado concoction. I ordered the avocado and cucumber 8 piece roll for $4.50 and the Green Roll for $ 7.99. Green Roll: avocado, deep fried asparagus covered with large slices of avocado. I paid 14.50 including tax. The rolls were great. I walked in not expecting much, but they were really good. They were not soggy or fall apart. I ordered take-out, so I can't speak for the wait service or the dinning experience. The lady was super friendly, so I'm sure the service is great. Overall, great rolls and prices.

I was in the neighborhood and felt like having sushi. I wandered into Sushi Tokyo and was pleasantly surprised by it. The edamame was fresh, hot, and just the right amount of salty (and complimentary before I even ordered!) And the seaweed salad was perfect. The plum wine was generously poured, but perfectly in accord with the food I ordered. The seahawk roll was delicious, fresh, and light enough to make me appreciate the edamame and seaweek salad, and not too heavy to make me regret anything. I think this is a great, casual, tasty sushi restaurant with attentive service and fresh seafood. Could you ask for anything more?

This place is amazing. We live two buildings over, so they're our neighbors... LUCKY FOR US!!! I eat here a LOT. The owners are very nice and the waitress (Mindy) is overworked, but attentive. The best thing about this place is the inventive and delicious variety of sushi rolls. Also, the ingredients are very fresh. If I could afford to eat here twice a day, I would. Try the Magic Roll, 'cuz I made it up and it's damn good. But so is everything else.

As a die hard fan of japanese food, I can assure you that this place is worth to try although it's a little bit bit pricy. I ordered a flying dragon roll and a bento box. The roll was very delicious, well made and has fresh taste in it. It's too good to the point I'm afraid the bento box is not as good as the roll since it's noy chef who cooked it but his wife. Surprisingly the bento box was quite decent. Very consistent I would say. The only downside of this restaurant is a lil bit pricey, I spent like $25 for that meal ( a roll and a bento box) and services. Although the chef(owner) was very nice and such, the waiter is a little bit annoying. I was standing for like 5 minutes waiting to be seated because she was busy doing something in the kitchen. When she saw me, she didnt even give a welcome smile or an apology (the restaurant was not busy at that time tho). Brought me the miso soup as appetizer without providing a spoon and when I ask for it, she's was a lil bit upset and again, not even a sorry but just ok. She expect me to eat miso soup with chopsticks or something? Overall this is a pretty good place despite unfriendly services and pricy.

Not bad. Not great. It's one of those basic, semi-old-school, run-of-the-mill Japanese restaurants. Sometimes you just want this sort of restaurant. Safe, predictable. I would say that there are better options in the area for the same price: Musashi, Kisaku, Village. Great service. Fast. Pleasant atmosphere. The menu has pictures of the modern rolls which is always a plus. The bento was 3 to 4 stars, which is my personal benchmark for the Japanese joint. But again, I'll continue my rant about the effing California roll. It's always the default roll. It's not a bad roll, but if I have to eat another one, I'm going to scream. I want the nori on the outside -- is that too much to ask? Some Americans (particularly Japanese-Americans) want the nori on the outside. The way they'd been making it for decades. I'm going to start a support group.

This is a great neighborhood sushi place. Good value, delicious sushi, inventive rolls. The booths are semi-private and very large. Takeout is just as good as eating there. Honestly, I like Sushi Tokyo WAY better than Kisaku. (Since I live in Greenlake, I feel like I have these 2 neighborhood sushi place options.) The only problem with Sushi Tokyo is that they're not open Sundays! Boo. (I always seem to want sushi on summer Sundays after hikes/bike rides/runs/etc...it must be that perfect carb/protein/fat combo.)

I read the reviews before I tried Tokyo Sushi, which seem to agree that this is a resounding 'average'. I had the same experience. Th decor is fine, the service is fine, and the sake was hot. The fish tasted great and was extremely fresh. But the restaurant did not stand out in any way, and did not have anything remarkable enough to warrant a higher rating... Conclusion: A good neighborhood sushi joint, but don't go out of your way to visit.

Not bad at all. The outside of the building isn't promising. In fact, I stayed away for quite a while because of it, but I finally decided to give it a shot. The outside may be uninviting, but it's hiding a nice little place that's very clean and comfortable. I went there between lunch and dinner on a nice sunny day, so needless to say, I was pretty much the only one there; two people did come in to pick up their orders. The service was fine, but I haven't seen it when more people are present. I had yellowtail, fresh salmon, tuna, and unagi nigiri, and also a crazy horse roll, which included avocado, yellowtail, and tuna if I remember. All the fish was fresh and tasty, though there was an after-taste to the salmon that disappeared after a split second. It was barely detectable, though. I may have just caught them on an off day. It happens. It wasn't the cheapest place I've been to, as most of the nigiri was around $4.50 for two pieces, and some of the bigger rolls were $9-12. They did have quite a nice variety, though. Since it's a short walk from my place, I'll be back. I'll try to hit the lunch specials next time, though.

I am not a sushi expert, but I enjoyed everything that we had here. The sake arrives warm in an earthenware jug, and you won't feel it hit you until you stand up. I don't recall what brand of sake they serve but it was very smooth with a hint of vanilla. Our server was very nice and gave some good suggestions. The presentation of the rolls was lovely. it seemed a bit pricey, but maybe that is because I've been hitting Blue C too much. The best part, it's only a block from my place! I will be back.

My boyfriend took me here for one of my first sushi dining expeditions. We've been back since, as it is his favorite spot. I'm a bit more "learned" in sushi now, and feel I have the goods to review such a a place.... I love the decor, it's much more Asian-inspired than most (read: Sam's Sushi in Queen Anne, which is what I will compare most of this review to) and the menu is crazy-full of inventive and flavorful rolls. Can't beat free edamame, which comes in a dish that looks like a soy bean! Cute. Their "large" Sakes weren't exactly what I would consider large, but tasted good and the containers were artsy! We ordered the orange blossom and the baked scallop roll. Both were SO yummy. Yummy yummy yummy. The baked scallop roll was basically 6 CA rolls covered in a creamy, spicy scallop sauce, heaping with scallops. The orange blossom, if I remember correctly, is a tuna roll covered in salmon. Tasted very fresh and clean. The fish is tender and more flavorful than I'm used to, which is a welcome change. The prices, although everyone is boasting about how they are cheaper than most places, are moderate to me. But like I said, I eat at Sam's at least once a week and am used to ordering a TON and getting the bill for cheap. This place, the roll sets are usually about $10 each, although well worth it. The waitress was very accomodating and nice, and the ambience is great. Very quiet and peaceful. They have large booths, so you feel private, not all out in the open like some other places. I really do recommend it!

This understated little restaurant offers sushi that - while not the absolute best I've ever had - is extremely consistent in its quality. That alone should be enough to draw you here. The staff are friendly and service is good, parking is usually easily available on Roosevelt itself or on one of the nearby side streets, and both the nigiri sushi and maki are always very good (great salmon). I've been to half a dozen sushi joints in Seattle, which vary from disappointing to very good but variable in quality; Sushi Tokyo never disappoints. Finally, I like the fact that it's not one of those high-end places... it's small, pleasant and very unpretentious.

Pretty darn good - while I probably wouldn't go across town to visit Sushi Tokyo, I am thrilled to live less than a block away. Service is consistent and polite, steamed edamame are brought to your table almost immediately, and creative selections like the Cherry Blossom roll spice up an otherwise standard menu. Sushi quality is good - always fresh, nice cuts, and I've never been disappointed. It's nothing extraordinary - not like Kisaku - but for neighborhood sushi joint, you really couldn't ask for anything more.

Easily one of the best sushi restaurants in town. I prefer over Kisaku actually, which was my tops for a long time. Only wish they delivered!

It was new year eve and we had a craving for sushi. without reservations, we called around with the help of yelp looking for a table. After a couple failed attempts, we found Sushi Tokyo. When I called to make a reservation, it didn't seem like they are used to taking them. The even forgot to ask for my name but insisted the table will be ready. My guess is that they were not that busy. When we arrive, our friend was already there at our table and the restaurant only had one other group of patrons. We were greeted immediately but throughout the evening, service was slow but courteous. They had a vast menu to shoose from so it took a while to decide on what we wanted. We decided on 4 rolls (lion king, aloha, sea-hawk and the mazey) and a tempura dinner. The price was resaonable; ranging from $6 to $15 a roll. It was about $60 for three of us to be stuffed. As for the quality of the food; it was just okay. The tempura was fresh and light, but the rice used to make the rolls was too dry. The dry rice really took away from the overall flavor and texture of the rolls and made it mediocre. The size of rolls were good; ranging from 6 to 10 pieces. The environment was average. Some jpop in the background and mismatched dishes could use some work. Overall, this place is a good family run neighborhood sushi joint. If they improved service and the rice, they can improve on the 3.5 stars I am giving them.

I thought this place was great!! We had something like 4 rolls and 3 beers and our bill was $25, way more than enough food for 2 people and we took plenty home. I love that they do takeout too. I only thought it was pretty good, until i tried the place in Wallingford that was voted best seattle sushi in 2008 or something like that. It was way fancier, way more expensive, and nowhere near as good as sushi tokyo!

When I'm having a weeknight sushi craving, I always head here. It's good and the prices are cheaper than the average sushi place. I've heard that it's hit or miss, but in the 2.5 years I've been coming here, I've never had any complaints. Overall, I'd say that it's a good neighborhood place - not worth going out of your way for, but you won't be disappointed if you want reasonably priced sushi. However, if I'm craving excellent sushi and don't mind paying for it. I go to Kisaku in Wallingford.

Very good food. I have tried the chirashi and various rolls. All were fresh, and decent portions. Service was great: attentive but not obtrusive. Ambiance was a little "cheese," but it's alright. Not a place you would bring clients to; it's more about good food at reasonable prices (for sushi).

I love Sushi!! This one of my favorite sushi places to eat at. The sushi is amazing and there is plenty of variety. They make rolls that can only be found here. The decor seems very authentic although sometimes I wonder if they listen to boys 2 men because they like it or they think that Americans still listen to boy bands from the early 90's? I guess I'll never know, but the sushi here is great, fresh, and creative!

I had chicken teriyaki for dinner. The chicken didn't taste right, like it was really old or cooked incorrectly. My friend and I ordered the same thing and neither of us ate it. I've had their sushi and it was alright, but the chicken turned me off. I'll probably never be back.

I love this place. I'm really picky about my sushi, especially spicy rolls, and they seem to get the spicy sauce just right. Its a family owned place, and since my boyfriend and I frequent so much we've gotten to know the owner and his wife pretty well and they are incredibly nice! They seem to update their list of rolls often, and I can honestly say, they have some of my favorites that I can't find anywhere else. The service has always been fine in my opinion. It can be a little slow if they're busy b/c they don't have a huge staff, but I have never left unsatisfied and ridiculously full.

I went in one afternoon, hungry & craving sushi but in a rush on my way to an appt. They were super quick at my request, and the food was great! The seaweed was especially good, and they have a sushi happy hour!

I work up the street and I was craving a spicy tuna roll and a seaweed salad. I find a menu for this place and i think why not try it out? I get my bill and it is WAY over priced for what it is. Seven dollars for a spicey tuna roll at this cheap looking joint? and six for less than half a cup of seaweed salad? Its just obsurd! The spicey tuna was okay but I have had way better for much less money. Same with the seaweed salad. For that much money I expect to be full afterwards! If you want to blow a load on mediocre sushi eat here. If you want great sushi for a decent price try Rain in wallingford or Umi in Belltown. Don't waste your money here.

They get 4 stars because they're open all day. Having said that, now about the food. We had tempura udon, negi hama roll, crazy horse roll, and Wilammett roll. Tempura udon was ok. Udon broth was pretty good, but they definitely need to work on their tempura sauce. It tasted like diluted soy sauce with a hint of katsuo broth. At least put some ground radish in there or something. Negi hama wasn't the chopped hamachi well mixed with negi, but just a piece of hamachi and a piece of negi side by side in the roll. Hamachi was ok, but wasn't as creamy, nutty, yummy as the other places. Crazy horse roll was very good. The scallops were seasoned just right and I really like the salmon topping. Wilamett roll was ok- it was huuuuuge and had a lot of fish in it, but it also had a LOT of rice. A bit too much rice (not even really well cooked, well seasoned rice) The wasabi looked a bit stale (starting to lose color a bit) and tasted a bit stale, too. Miso was below average- bland with too much water. Service totally sucked- took forever to bring our waters out, had to ask for everything at least twice and we were the only ones in there. The rolls were really huge, but they cost a lot, too. We paid $50 including tax & tip and it was way too much for lunch, especially for the quality of food. I'd go back only if all the other sushi places were closed, or I wanted a non-sushi Japanese dish.
