What can I say. If you love a good dive then this is probably perfect for you. It's kind of shitty and dirty with great beer and microwave pizzas. It also has one of the friendliest and most helpful string of bartenders that I've ever encountered. There is a lot of love here and that is something I'd take any day over a fancy establishment. Do yourself a favor and drink here. PS: don't feel ashamed if you're not a regular or local.

Thank You Yelp friends. I wear my "BARF" ....." BAR.AND.RESTAURANT . FANATIC"crown with pride right back atcha'. If you are looking for a place for a genuine unpretentious and unaffected good time, this is your SHRINE. I just opened my Sully's aromatherapy #1..."Piss Sodden Urinal Pub Wall"......"the REAL Irish Spring" . Great for killing moss or anything green....supply is limited...order a bottle by name now!

Very cute neighborhood spot. I loved the cozy fire place. The cute bar pup walling around and the clean bathroom. The bartenders were good and friendly with me, and really warm to the locals. Next time I'm in town I'll drop by.

Solid place! A good amount of beer on tap, probably a store bought corn dog (for 1.75-no complaints from me, they likely make many of the other items), and a fun atmosphere. When my friend entered she thought, 'all this place is missing are swinging saloon doors,' and sure enough there they were on the bathroom stall. A good crowd was gathered to watch a Stanley Cup game, and odds are Sully's doubles as a great sports bar whenever you want. Great local spot for all; we felt welcome as soon as we entered. Peanuts aplenty out of a barrel, but not the type of place to throw your shells on the ground, show a little respect! Dogs were allowed, and we liked that a lot! Will definitely be back.

The owners there are beyond friendly. With the soft October rain, makes me want to come in for a place to dodge the wetness as my dogs and I are quickly welcome in and we took place by the fire. Before we even took our seats, the owners were graciously giving my pups doggy treats and made them feel like super stars (I didn't think that my dogs even want to leave there). However, if the menu offer much real food choices this would be my new "go to" spot for the weekend. The menu offer food such as hot dogs, and frozen prep items that you can easily find at costco. On the other hand, if you really are truly a regular, people knows that you don't go there for food. You go there to watch a sports game and beer before noon.

I'm not getting the category listing as "Pub, Irish." Bicycles and a lawn chair hanging from the ceiling, a jackalope on the wall -- it looks like somebody hit a garage sale. This is more of a bar, not a pub. Having said that, it works. It is very small, can get crowded, and get very, very noisy. Not my kind of place, but it seems like the locals love it.

Cheap veer, great service, and a cozy space! I love that it is dog friendly and has board games. This is a great place to go with a few friends, but avoid going with a big group unless it's nice out-without the patio seating is limited.

I love this place ! It has character, a great selection of beers and Sully keeps his beer lines really clean so the beer tastes like it should. I agree the selection of food is minimal but try a Sully dog (It's one tasty son of a gun). It does get crowded at times but that's because people like it.

Seattle's Eastside lacks the character to create really good local Ale houses. An Ale house is built on and thrives by the locals that regularly visit. The community both forms and is formed by them. Since moving to Seattle proper a couple of years ago, I've been eagerly discovering and tasting from the plentitude of Ale houses scattered throughout Ballard, Magnolia, Phinney Ridge, West Seattle, and more. I've only just now imbidded at Sully's Snowgoose Saloon. Though the ale was good (I selected the smooth Black Butte Porter from their twenty-nine different ale's on tap), Sully's is an Ale house best left to the local locals. Sully's is confusing. It gives the impression of a traditional Ale house picked up from along some old English road and then dropped on south Phinney Ridge. Multiple times driving by I mentioned to my wife "That place looks interesting. I'll have to try it." Sadly, the first thing I noticed when I entered was the smell -- a musty, dirty smell typically found in bars, not Ale houses, especially not one with such a wide selection of brews. Sully's is a bar trying to be a Pub. As a bar is comes complete with a pinball game (where one regular eventually lost his Tommy-like bid after an extend play), jukebox, and one, overworked barmaid. As a Pub it offers a broad selection of good and inexpensive ales. The food, well, Sully's doesn't really offer any. Their fare is limited to two types of grilled cheese sandwich, chili, and pizza by the slice. My Pub mate I ate elsewhere. Sully's has its place among Seattle's Ale houses. It just not a place I intend upon returning when so many others offer so much more.

The last of a dying breed in Seattle. Warm, Cozy, dingy bar/pub. Good selections of beer and great staff. No "mixologists" or 15 ingredient cocktails. Just a good simple pub. Let's hope we can keep a few more places like this open!

Awesome place for the games, great people, dog friendly, and awesome staff. If you have a well behaved dog, they will let him/her in the place without a leash. LVOE!

  • Carly C.

Interesting place. The people were very friendly but could probably stand to learn a bit more about their beers (our bartender said she had never drank a beer in her life & was unable to answer any questions). This definitely more of a "local watering hole" so if you're looking for a uber chill & relaxed bar, you've found your spot. They do only have beer and a few ciders. The place is small but very warm & cozy.

Peanuts, beer! YEAY! I wanted to try their food, but didn't have time during my visit. Summer is definitely the ideal time to go since their outdoor seating is really nice. They do have a nice little heater/stove though, so fall nights could be doable too. (Granted I don't know how often they fire it up.) Many muggles for those of the geo-persuasion as well. If you know my meaning.

I'd love to give The Goose a higher rating. I mean, they have beer, they have bar snacks, they have a nice patio, and even a fireplace! But here's the problem - it's OVERRUN with neighborhood drunks. This place is full almost every single night (great for them), except it's not full of friendly, mellow folks like you or I. It's full of loud, sloppy, sports- and government conspiracy-obsessed fools. What's worse is that if you're not one of them you aren't worth deuce. I'm no snob, but the simple truth is it looks nice on the outside but it's not on the inside. As a bartender friend at a place down the street once said to me, "They cater to the 'just looking to get drunk' crowd."

  • Brian C.

So, this place is decked out like a fucking Swedish lodge, it didn't seem Irish to me at all. Is it supposed to be a fucking Irish pub? It was small and the building was old. The bartender was an attractive lady and there are some books there to read if a you're a weirdo that like to read books at a bar. They also have a gas fireplace. Pinball. The machines were really old, like from 1960's. I'm not too into older games but these were in great condition. This place was just kind of cozy and the machines are fun and cheap but I probably wouldn't hang out there for more than hour. It's a great stop if you're going from Ballard/Phinney/Fremont to Greenwood or somewhere up north. They have 'Target Alpha' (1976) and Super-Flite (1974), each are a quarter per credit (no quarter machine in the bar). Added pics of the machines as usual and also some shit I saw on the bathroom walls while I was urinating (made sure to wash my hands after)

As soon as we walk in the bar, a man named "Jim" introduces himself and tells us there's no need for leashes. I ask him if he works there; he says no, he's just a regular. While shoving treats down my dogs mouths, he explains how Super Tuesday is a special day for Sully's: they hold an annual "Dog of the Year" election. The victor gets precedence in the bar if any dog should have an 'issue' with El Presidente. Enjoyed coming here because of the cheap beer and the doggies until I met the owner and began to realize he and his clientele are very disrespectful towards women. It is a personal choice but if you would rather not put up with that, I would strongly recommend not patronizing this place.

Depressing, and what exactly is "Irish" about this place I do not know.

After living in Seattle for 7 years, I have never been to a bar in this area, but after visiting Sully's and scoping the street I wonder if all of the bar establishments are pretty much the same. I hate to be the one "non-worshiping" review for this place, but I think it's just not for me. Yes, when you walk in it looks/feels like you're up in a snow cabin where you can warm up by a fireplace and stare at the goose head on the wall. They do have a nice beer selection, I will say. I was a bit uncomfortable here, not really enjoying my surroundings (besides the fabulous ladies I was with) and especially the really hard bar stool. I didn't choose to go here in the first place, and I'm pretty sure I won't go back. BUT, like I said, probably just not a place for me--don't hate! :-)

  • Steve F.

Pluses: large choice of beers on tap including cider, nice outdoor seating area, pleasant waitstaff Negatives: Food was really so-so. They were out of salmon burgers, tuna melt just OK. No sides available. Ordered a small bag of chips for a buck. Never got a price list or a receipt.

  • Kristine H.

I've never experienced any problems going here during the handful of times we've been. It can get crowded with regulars but we've always found a spot to sit near the fireplace outside, weather permitting. I try to avoid the inside because it's louder than I prefer and sports is on the telly. There's a small menu but a great beer selection. It is cozy inside with friendly owner and staff. If you live in the neighbourhood, it'll do for one of your local choices.

Cozy little pub in a lovely Tudor building. Great atmosphere inside. OK selection of beers on tap and basic pub grub. Owner is VERY nice. Worth checking out if you're in the area and want a pint in a place that really looks like a English or Irish country 'local'.

    (3)
  • Brian L.

Sit down and get comfortable, play a game of chess by the fireplace, this is a great place to unwind. Nice staff and many regulars. Maybe too many IPAs on tap but a good selection of beers at the usual prices. The secret to Sully's Snowgoodse Saloon is that it gets better every visit. I can't wait to come back in the summer to experience the cozy outside patio as well.

  • Scott K.

I used to live down the street from Sully's and I called it the lumberjacks bar. Why? I've never seen more flannel shirts in my life! Why does that make Sully's great? It's because it's the best after sledding bar in Seattle! Flannel being the sledders material of choice of course! I'm going to go ahead and give Sully's my incredibly easy to get... Scott K. five stars! The owner is pro-union, so don't talk any anti-union smack or you're going to get some teamsters beating you in the head with tire irons... but knowing you... that was going to happen sooner then later anyway!

  • C P.

While I used to go to Sully's all the time (I used to live up the street and went two or three times a week), I now avoid it like the plague. The bar is great, the owner is great, and the beer selection is fantastic. The problem is some of the regulars get very drunk and there are little, internal dramas constantly going on you can accidentally get involved in. If you are unaware of this, you can walk right into a dangerous situation. I've twice watched as 'regulars' got in other people's faces - including a red faced bully threatening a girl. Be careful, several regulars here are the type of debaters who believe a discussion can be won with force, while others are territorial and adversarial. If a conversation gets started about politics, sports, whatever, there are several extremely drunk a-holes here who don't care if you are a guy or girl, they get angry and get threatening. While normally it is a laid back place and Sully is a very nice man, this place can quickly turn no fun. I've experienced it twice now. I would warn any woman and people in general to watch yourself here.

After living close by for three years I finally stopped in and had a beer with my girlfriend. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather with some delicious beer. I like the inside of the bar as well and can see myself enjoying some good beers during the cold nights. But since it is nice and warm out, hopefully I can enjoy some beers outside this summer. Zipzap Zubidy Bop!

Sully's is a small neighborhood place that is so cozy and welcoming, complete with stuffed geese hanging from the ceiling and memorial plaques for beloved pets on the wall. Good selection of taps, bowl o' peanuts for $2 (scooped your own out of a barrel) and dog friendly.

    (4)
  • T A.

The Goose! Love coming here with my buddies to have a pint and sit by the fireplace or on the patio. I like it because it's a simple neighborhood bar with good beer on tap.

    (4)
  • Tonya H.

Great music, free peanuts and a lot of beers on tap! This place is freaking cool and I had a lot of fun. Come check it out for yourself. They also have a fireplace with a table in front of it, which might be nice for a drinking date. I don't like how close it is to the bathroom, however; the couple sitting there didn't seem to mind. No shots will be found in this place by the way. Beer and wine only.

  • Versive V.

Don't go here if you don't "get it". Some people give this place low star rating because the food isn't good. Really? Or because people who just want a social place to "get drunk" rather than "have a drink". Really? This bar isn't for you? And that sucks? Fuck off. Sully can do what he damn well pleases and what he's doing is a dying institution and bless him for it. Come here if you're casual, don't have your head up your ass, and just want to work on your drunk.

  • Marissa C.

5 stars for the best drink service I have ever had - the bartender/waitress seriously refilled my water 20 times while I was there. (Yes, I am addicted to water.) Also, there are games at the booths inside should you choose to forego the scenic outside seating. A good selection of micros, the food is cheap and filling, and the atmosphere, even in the early afternoon when only the regulars are there, is welcoming.

I've ridden by this place for a long time and was struck by one thing: There are a lot of crusty, old Seattle folks hanging out being total lushes. If you're into that, which I am, this is a great place to grab a beer. My friends and I ended up getting some cheap beers and talking with some folks considering opening a food cart nearby. Usually a bar is too loud and crazy for that kind of communication but Sully's is very chill and casual. A true neighborhood gem.

  • Alisa B.

Cute little pub. That pretty much sums up this place. This dog friendly pub (or at least I hope its dog friendly cause there were dogs there last night) looks like an adorable swiss chalet from the outside with its front two peaking rafters and a small outside eating area and a small fireplace inside giving it this very cozy feeling. The beer and coffee menu are slanted high above the bar you have to crane your neck to read its chalk board style letters. The bar maid was very competent and sweet, getting to all of us efficiently and sweetly. Two pinball games sat lonely in the back not getting much use which was fine with me cause it was already a littel loud. The bathroom is also in the back on the opposite wall kind of hidden behind a table you have to sidle around to get into. No locks on that door so be aware! : )

  • Aaron M.

Bah how is it I missed all these great pub reviews? So Sully's Snowgoose is a great pub is more of a dive than some of the higher end establishments. What sets it apart from the a typical dive is the fantastic beer selection. They always have many excellent beers to choose from and they are priced well. Friends and I go here to sit back relax in a calm non-pretentious atmosphere. I have only had the food here once and it was nothing to write a review about but after having a few beers it gets the job done.

As soon as you walk through Sully's doors you feel like you're at home. The bartenders are warm and friendly and the saloon itself is packed with regulars, mostly folks of retirement age. My husband, best friend and I grabbed three seats by the fireplace, ordered pub grub, including a great grilled cheese, and drank several great microbrews. What was only meant to be a one beer stop turned into several hours. We left feeling like we would be welcomed back like family on our next return.

You feel like you are either in a tiny ski chalet or your mountain cabin...either way sounds like a place I'd like to spend a night drinking with friends! A fireplace at one end, outdoor seating when the weather warms up, a barrel of peanuts ($1.25 donation requested), cozy booths, pin ball machine, 1970's Trivial Pursuit sports edition, a hodge podge of magazines in the magazine rack, a mounted jack -a-lope head. No my friend you are not dreaming! And to top it all off they have a great selection of beers on tap. My friend ordered a corn dog and I saw another customer eating tomato soup and grilled cheese. This place is doing everything right! Although it is small there were 12 in our group and we managed to comfortably situate ourselves by the fireplace. Come and hang out with friends and I am sure you will have a great night.

A fantasatic beer selection with a friendly local vibe. TV's for the sports minded but it's most likely the jukebox will be playing. Great staff pouring a beer to fit any pallet. The fireplace makes for a cozy corner and the pinball is a fun distraction. The patio is a sure bet in the summer.

This wonderful lodge planted on Phinney Ridge was the perfect amount of winter on the mid-February evening of my first visit. On the wall you will find snowshoes and a stuffed goose. To the right as you walk in the main entrance a toasty gas fireplace. There are also a pair of vintage pinball machines, a few worn-in booths, several tabletops, and if I lived in Seattle I would be a regular settling into one of the stools at the bar. During my stay, we came to Sully's and I learned how to play dominoes (officially for the first time ever!) They also had scrabble, pictionary, trivial pursuit, and many many more. It was a great night of playing dominoes next to the fire with some good local beers while watching the Olympics on the bar TVs. There was also an amazing line-up of music on a well-filled jukebox. Enough to keep our heads bobbing throughout the night. This bar hit the great status when I found out that dogs are welcome! Being a dog lover, i found this truly enjoyable! This is a great warm and cozy bar for the winter months, but in the summer there is a great patio to drink a few beers in the sun! I can't wait to return to Seattle to come back to this rockin' bar! P.S. They also sell peanuts for $1.25 per bowl (by donation.)

Best. Neighborhood. Bar. Ever. Not to mention the perfect place to watch the Canada-US Olympic Gold Medal Hockey Game. Owner Sully has a fantastic selection of local microbrews on draft (Lagunitas & Maritime), Canadian bottled beers (Moosehead!) and a subscription to the Canadian NHL feed (CBC). Hockey is consistently on at least one screen during the season, and the local customers are both welcoming and energetic. No-nonsense bartenders are quick and knowledgeable. Bar food is quirky but consistent. Games and cards galore. Come for the people, stay for the draft taps.

Cozy ski-lodge styled bar with a surprising beer selection and focus on prompt service! Three friends and I visisted for the first time, spending two and a half hours playing cards here last night (a Tuesday) and felt like we'd been coming here for years. The place is small (two booths, two four-tops, and a few two-top bar tables along with bar seating), but everyone who visited seemed to find a place and feel right at home, either watching a game or playing pinball. Prices seemed very fair; I had two beers and some chili, which rang in at $12. Bathroom could use a bit of patching up, but otherwise there isn't much to want to change here. Recommended for: small groups (four or less) looking to drink beer over cards, board games, or conversation.

Aside from the appealing alliteration affixed to its awning, Sully's Snowgoose Saloon has plenty of prizes to provide for its patrons. 1. Board games at every table--ours had UpWords, trivial pursuit, and backgammon 2. A fireplace, in case you feel the need for some cozy moments 3. Several beers on tap. Around 20 maybe? 4. A sweet bartender/waitress who, before you are three-quarters done with your drink, has a freshly poured one sitting in front of you 5. A magazine rack well-stocked with options for all ages. 6. A few TV's for you sports fans I can't really comment on the food because we didn't order any. However I would be willing to go back again to try it. They have a few tables outside for when the weather is nice--maybe I'll save my next trip until then. (But then I'd miss out on possible cozy moments on the hearth! Boo!)

3 stars to keep this place a secret...but, honestly it's much better than that. One of the first times I kissed my girlfriend it was at this cozy little place near their fireplace. It's just a classic little northwest saloon where you can get a nice dark beer and have good conversation in front of a little fireplace. I'll definitely go back with my girlfriend... Very unique in my book.

With a name like Sully's it really seems like it should be a Boston sports bar, decked out in Celtics jerseys and a signed picture of Yastremski on the wall. Instead it's a sleepy neighborhood bar with a patio serving as the front porch of Phinney Avenue and an inside so wood-lined that it would make a beaver proud. I'm told that there's also a fireplace inside, but I didn't notice since I was fixated on the beer list on the ceiling. There was also an espresso machine and they serve food, but I didn't try either. Board games are on the tables and two pinball machines are in the back corner. One of the games is Upwords: if you never played it, it's basically a 3-D version of Scrabble and requires vocabulary skills as well as hand dexterity in stacking tiles. In this setting, it probably serves as a secondary sobriety test. The men's bathroom has a urinal and toilet right next to each other without a divider. That could make for some awkward conversation ("That rash is clearing up nicely Joe") and that's without even discussing the Trojan condom poster on the wall. I didn't try the women's bathroom. I was here on a weekday night and it's fairly quiet with conversation easier than in many bars. Overall it's pretty small and probably best serves for a low-key evening catching up with friends.

Who likes Ireland? I do! Who likes beer? Me. Is this an Irish bar? I think so.. And you get the idea.. We had a little bit of a wait last night at the Santa Fe cafe, and so we walked down the block and spotted Sully's Snowgoose Saloon. It's location kind of makes it either a destination or a drive by. None of us had been, but we'd all be meaning to, so we made the short trek over. I really wasn't sure what to expect, but as we walked in, it became very apparent that this is one awesome Irish bar. The flags and beers and memorabilia (sooo much memorabilia) should be a big tip off if you're still clueless. I had Hoegaarden, which by default at Sully's, is served in those giant Hoegaarden buckets. Gotta love that. They were out of three beers the boys were looking to try, but they were still able to find brews to their liking, so no worries there. Board games and college football, a big patio, and a cute dog making the rounds, shaking hands for entertainment make this an easy go to for me again. I have no doubt in my mind that they show lots and lots of football matches (that's European for Soccer). No food, but there's really no need. Come to drink. Leave happy.. and a bit tipsy.

Sully's is a fine watering hole that rides that careful line between cozy neighborhood joint and dive bar: It has a well-rounded beer selection, games scattered about to entertain yourself, a nice patio with a firepit, and a jukebox with a little something for everyone. That's the neighborhood side. It's small, dark, a bit dingy, has heavily graffitied and poorly patched restroom walls, cracked vinyl cushions on the barstools, and an odd ski chalet/hunting lodge decor with a mound of empty kegs to navigate to get to the restrooms. There's your dive. But it manages to balance this split personality very well, and making for a comfy place to belly up and watch the game or camp out in a booth with your buddies to play Scrabble. Drop by on Thursday nights for great prices on beer, and get there early if you have a group of more than four and are hoping for a table. The service can be a bit brusque at times, but you can chalk it up to efficiency because even on a busy night you won't have an empty glass for long.

Ugh - the worst service I've had since since moving to Seattle!! We went in for a beer and left within two minutes. The woman working there the night of 10/16 (mid 40's with blonde hair) came to take our order & acted all put out when I asked for a minute to decide what I wanted to drink - hey you've got about twenty beers to choose from - can I have a second to decide? Then we asked what food they had to eat & she acted the same way. We decided NOT to give them any of our money & split. Too bad becuase it looked like a cool place with out door fireplaces, but the service is HORRIBLE!!!!!!

One rainy Seattle night after imbibing in many rounds at Sully's Snowgoose Saloon* a discussion began berating the fact that there are Birthday and Christmas songs, 4th of July songs, and even Easter songs - but many holidays don't have a tune of celebration of their own. Thus, it was that night that an all purpose holiday song, sung to the tune of Chariots of Fire (which was all our piano playing friend knew) was born. Example: Arbor Day It's Arbor Daay. It's Arbor Day. It's Arbor Daay. It's Arbor Day. It's Arbor Daaaaay. It's Arbor Day. It's Arbor Daaaaay. It's Arbor Day. For that song, and other reasons including the great jukebox and the barrel of peanuts, that Sully's Snowgoose Saloon gets four stars. * I can never say just Sully's. It's always Sully's Snowgoose Saloon.

I'm 5 starring Sullys. Tonight was my 3rd time and it has always been fun. Especially when my sister and I went when it was snowing. It's a cozy bar with a nice crowd. There was also a gorgeous african american girl bartending.

I work in the neighborhood, I won't say where, but close enough that I can watch Sully come and go throughout the day, I watch him take pride in his establishment and sweep the sidewalk, water the plants and beat the dust out of his frontdoor mat on an almost daily basis. Not only does Mr. Sullivan take pride in his establishment he makes a MEAN chili, if you haven't tried it, it's fabulous and I venture in occasionally to have some during the day. Part of what makes the experience for me is Sully's regular patrons, they never fail to make me laugh when I go in. Don't ask me why these people are in a bar in the early afternoon, but they are, and I adore them I ventured in on my birthday a few months back, after asking for my ID and realizing it was my birthday the bartender bought my first beer for me. Even though the friends I was with were less than impressed I made sure she knew I would definitely be back. I am a bit turned off by the fact that Sully allows dogs inside his bar, but his selection of beers on tap is almost unparalleled in north Seattle. I will continue to stop in whenever the need for an after work beer kicks in, which is regularly.

I went here on a bar hopping night, and remain more impressed with the exterior than the interior of the place. I have been meaning to check this place out for years, but the interior seems to speak more to the dive side when I was thinking more of the well outfitted pub.

Great local neighborhood bar. I love the atmosphere with a knowledgeble staff (for beer). The beer is great but there is no food here. I love the ability to sit either inside or out and with an outdoor fireplace too! Its small and cozy so dont expect to bring a crazy large crowd here. Great place to catch up with old friends and new!

Maybe it was that the live band started in on Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On" as we walked in. Maybe it was the roaring fireplace on a cold December night. It could have been the great outdoor patio with it's accompanying fireplace. Maybe it was because Sully's was our 4th or 5th stop on our Kris Kringle Pub Krawl. Whatever it was, I was happy. And I will be back. Update: If I could add an extra star, I would. We decided to stop by Sully's the other night to grab a beer and chat...hopefully by the fireplace. It was a weeknight, and we were honestly just looking for somewhere we could hunker down for a while. It seemed that we weren't the only one's with Sully's on the mind, and it ended up being more crowded that we were in the mood for. We stood for a while at the bar to wait to order, then when we saw that there were no open seats, decided to cut our losses and head to one of our other favorite spots. As we turned to leave, a guy in a red bowling shirt comes up to us and says, "No, don't leave! Let me buy you a beer!" We thanked him, but declined his offer, and continued our exit. "No," he said again, "I'm Sully, I'll buy you a beer! Come back and stay a while, I'll buy you a beer!" While tempting, we ultimately decided that we really were in the mood to go somewhere a little quieter. Part of me regrets not sticking around and having a beer with Sully himself. I'm sure that would have been an experience....next time.

Step outside of Seattle into the small town you grew up again. Every time I go to Sully's I feel as though I stepped back on the island I grew up. It's got that warm feeling and the best company of any pub I've ever been to. Sully isn't for loners and it isn't for quiet folks either! You sit in Sully's, be prepared to engage in a heated conversation about local politics, local business, national news and dare I say a little local gossip... The bar is full of colorful characters willing to tell you a story or two. I love stepping up the bar, ordering a cup of chili and some tortilla chips to dip it in and a beer and then just sitting tight to listen to a variety of tales about parts of the city I've never known. Stories of reflecting about Seattle in it's hay-day; changes for the better and changes for the worst. Everyone's really nice and most of the patrons are regulars. You can't judge these guys either, because they don't take shit. I've heard of younger guys getting rowdy and rude there, but they get snapped out of it really quick, it's not that type of bar fellas. This is Sully's, where everyone's welcome and if you sit on the stool long enough you'll make quit a number of friends and a few memories too, before you head out.

Sully's is a great little low-key saloon where you can make the experience what you want. The interior has the feel of a little alpen ski lodge with a nice fire place. Many patrons play cards, board games and the like while sipping on a wonderful variety of beer they have on tap. The patio area is a decent size for sunny afternoons--or even if you like to brave the cold. It's typically a smoker's paradise, but aren't most tavern patios these days? I recommend this place if you're looking for a low-key experience with great beers and nothing more than maybe a few tunes from the juke box or joining into the banter of the clientelle. This is the kind of spot I'll be walking to when "Winter-Death Storm 2008" hits in Seattle and we get 3.4 inches of snow and the city shuts down. Nice, cozy little place.

Came here last night to catch up with a friend. It was his pick, but my neighborhood and I'd never been here. They have a ton of beers on tap! So many, that I was silenced for a few minutes before deciding on pear cider (yes, that was a cop out). The atmosphere was friendly and there were a fair amount of people for a tuesday night. The bartender was attentive and kept our beers full. The bathrooms were cold and gnarly, but they were clean enough. I loved all of the flat-screen tv's and the tall stools at the bar. It was $18 for 4 pints. I'll be back, if only just to say Sully's Snowgoose Saloon. Thats not true. I'd be back even if it didn't have an alliterative name.

This is a small dive-ish bar in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood. Good beer selection, friendly service, interesting ambiance, good school pinball machines, out door area with fire pit/fire place. This is a great place to grab a tasty beer or five with a friend, etc and have a conversation.

I just moved back to the neighborhood and Sully's is the ultimate neighborhood hang out. This place is as friendly as it gets. Friendly service and always friendly people to talk to. The only downside is the food. There isn't a large enough kitchen to support a full time chef but the beer more than makes up for it, great selection of domestic and imported beers. As long as you don't come here hungry then you are set!

Beer. Followed by more beer. This place is spot on for the beer-lover in all of us. Their selection is fairly wide - from my beloved Black Butte Porter to Rainer - they have their customer base well covered. The fact that it looks like an alpine inn from the outside had me at first glance. The fact that their bartender got my bf another pint (no charge) after he accidentally shattered his glass into the bar, after only having a few sips, won my patronage. The fact that they have a pinball machine, fireplace, along with booths, bar, and outside seating - 'nuff said. I'll be back this winter after a hard day on the slopes, guaranteed.

If you are looking for an easy, low-key, eclectic place to have a beer without all of the attitude of one of the trendy joints that are missing an IQ and a personality, Sully's snowgoose is the place. There is usually a pretty girl behind the bar and if there isn't, Sully himself will be there to pour you a beer and start up a good conversation with you. I have never been to Sully's without making a new friend, both Human or Dog. Speaking of Dogs, be sure and try one of their hotdogs. Speaking of Sully's I am meeting my friends there tonight.

This place is nothing but dive bar WIN. The patio is adorable and has a gas fire burning to keep you warm during our chilly nights. Inside you'll find a couple cozy booths where we enjoyed playing cards, a very friendly bartender and a jukebox playing some classics. They have a bar menu and it was pretty cheap but the quality was, well, it was cheap bar food. I love this cute little cottage turned bar and I will be back!

Very happy with this place. Staff was friendly, they got the games on, and the hotdogs are cheap, and delicious. I thought I remembered there being brat night once a week, but can't remember. Maybe nostalgia has turned those hotdogs into brats, but anyway, good beer, just dingy enough, and conveniently located on an arterial where the businesses are closed at night (read:available parking)

I've been frequenting "The Goose" for many years now. It's the kinda place you can go relax and read a book or play chess sometimes. Other times you'll be yelling at the top of your lungs to talk to someone right next to you. They keep a good selection of beers flowing at a fair price. The food is good and simple. And I've never had a problem getting service. It's also the greatest place to be in Seattle when it's snowing! You'll think you're in the Alps! (if you drink enough)

I don't even know what it I really like about this place, but I think it's amazing. "The Goose" was our last stop on what we call a "beer trek." Basically we pick a couple bar/brewpubs that are close to each other and spend a weekend afternoon treking from one to another. "The Goose" was the best bar of the day. It definitely reminds me of a ski lodge meets irish pub. We were greeted by a friendly bartender who was very patient while we asked several time what beers were on draft (there were just so many). There was plenty of seating either at the bar or in the booths on this Saturday night, but the outdoor patio with the fire pit was just over the top. We'll be back here for sure!

You have to love Sully's laid back attitude. It's not a place to go where you want to gather a big group of friends, unless you can get some outside seating. It's generally dark inside, with a couple regulars hanging out chatting up this or that. Don't go for the food, as you'll be disappointed.. though to be honest, I do go for the food. I don't often get a chance to eat Corn Dogs or Chili-Nachos and they do them up here. Beer selection is great and prices are pretty good. It's a great place out of the ordinary for you to meet up with a couple friends to catch up or play some cards and enjoy beer.

Nice little pub on top o Phinney Ridge. lots of outdoor seating, good selection of brews, and fire! Great place to go and chillax with a few friends and a few brews.

This bar is terrible. The service is mean. The owner Sully is a really pompus jerk and will bad-mouth any other bar in the city. I don't need that while I am drinking a beer. Oh and by the way - clean your beer lines. The beer I had was not as it usually is, I blame the beer lines. The place is filthy as well, don't touch anything while you are there.

I went here with a large group of people, probably around 25. We called about a week or so ahead to let them know that we would be there so they could plan ahead of time. Results: 1 person working the entire bar, including the kitchen! The only food we could order was grilled cheese and grilled ham and cheese sandwiches. After about 1/2 hour we went across the street to The Park Pub and had a great time. They didn't even know that we were coming, but they took it in stride and did a great job. The dog was the best part of Sully's.

I really like Sully's. It's a comfortable little place. Nice people work there. Regular looking people drink there. It's not divey and not trendy. If it could be better, it would have better food (especially with a happy hour menu). The other thing is it's sad when walk in and it's already all filled up and then you have to go over to Park Pub, which kind of sucks.

I love this little place -- when I can find a place to sit! They have a great and varying selection of microbrews, covering some of the staples as well as things you might not have tried yet. The decor is cozy, complete with fireplace, and makes me feel like I'm in a cabin in the Alps. Their outdoor patio is great to hang out on whenever it's dry, even in the winter, thanks to the gas chiminea. Finally, the bartender has always been very helpful and knowledgeable. She even gave me a free beer on my birthday!

comfortable, relaxed, neighborhood bar... good for beer, great for post-indoor soccer game bonding, excellent pretzels offered occasionally- if you are hungry go somewhere else for food. I love this place! And it's not hostile like the buckaroo can be sometimes. all are very merry.

I don't care that it was barley 55° F today, it was sunny, "warm", and such a day deserves a walk-about and pints of beer in the sun. I've passed up the Euro-quaint Sully's in the past, but with outdoor seating in the sun it was just the ticket. You just can't complain about a place that fills up by 3pm, although not that difficult to do here as it's pretty small. Absolutely a neighborhood bar but with a great look, location and theme, great selection of beers on tap, sports on the TVs, interesting mix of locals, and a knock-out bartender/waitress that admittedly was the reason for the last round of drinks. I think I could safely skip this place when outdoors isn't available (slight funky smell inside, which may be why every door and window was open), and you'll need a few rounds before using the restrooms (at least the men's - I swear a piece of plaster fell off while I was standing there).

This is a nice chalet style beer and wine bar. I like the outdoor seating and the fire stove out there that makes sitting outside in cold weather inviting. There's another fireplace inside keeping it warm and inviting. There's a barrel of over salted peanuts that I always find myself snacking on. There's not much for food here. The jukebox music is outdated and there's really no other music, but if you're there with friends I guess one can get over it. There's a good 15 taps on with lots of local beers and a couple imports. My favorite day? Thursday: 2.75 micro brews all day. I haven't found a better deal anywhere else. Don't let the regular after work guy crew deter you, they're actually pretty funny and rather friendly.

Like Tully's but with fewer Ts, an extra S, and I have no idea what a Snowgoose is. Current hypothesis is that it's a mythical creature which certain Welsh and Norse tribes thought to bring beer at reasonable prices. While I have a degree of empathy for the poor soul whose job it might one day be to stand on someone's shoulders or perhaps a step-ladder, the chalkboard high in the eves lists a great selection, and the helpful staff ensures the glass is never unburdened with frothy goodness. It has a cozy and comfortable feeling that seems ideal to share with a date or some friends.
