It's a shame really, a wasted date night. For me and my wife, getting a night off from the kid is easier said than done. So we were very excited when our daughter was away for the weekend at her grandparents. We decided on a whim to go out to dinner - dress up... like a date - and enjoy ourselves to the fullest. We've been together for almost six years so this kind of thing is just as rare as a night without the kiddo. We chose this place based on a gift certificate we'd been given for Christmas. We opted not to go to any of the places we'd already been - instead relying on pictures of Stanford's to steer us towards something new. We regretted it before our food even showed up. We were seated quickly (which we like) and our waitress Ashley was prompt in taking our drink order - and that is where the promptness ended. Our drinks too forever to show up at our table - to which Ashley replied, "so sorry - we have a really large party in the back and they're a little slow at the bar." Don't make excuses please. When we were handed our menus at the reception area ("would you like to look at a menu while you wait - it helps pass the time,") not once was it mentioned that two of the entrees on the SPECIAL menu (the little leaflet that was with the menu) were unavailable. I ordered the Flat Iron Steak & Stuff Lobster Tail and was told politely that they didn't have any lobster left. Well, gee, it's on your SPECIAL menu - shouldn't you have told me that BEFORE I ordered? Maybe that's just me being picky. I inquired then about the lobster ravioli - and that too was not available. So instead I ordered another special entree - the Wild Alaska Salmon Oscar - another fine choice. We both ordered house salads and we waited patiently for those. After about 15 minutes Ashley returned to our table saying, "they are working on your salads - so sorry." Then showed up about 10 minutes later. About half way through the salad - a few bites into it - another server showed up at the table with toweled hands holding our dinner. She places my salmon in front of me and says, pushing the plate with the towel, "very hot plate." She places my wife's fillet next to her (as it was that we were still eating our salads) and says, "I'd like you to cut into that and make sure that's it's cooked to your liking." My wife responded, rather annoyed, "I was hoping to finish my salad before my meal arrived." And then... it went from bad to worse. The server leaned in close and said, "Usually it's the other way around - you're waiting forever for your meal to come out." I couldn't believe she just said that! We would be waiting at all had our salad come out when it was suppose to, and then our meal. The timing would have been perfect. I took a few more bites of my salad and began on my dinner - I didn't want it to go to waste. I reached over, not thinking and grabbed my plate. Much to my amazement the plate was COLD. Not luke warm, cold. And as it turns out - so was my meal. My salmon was cold, the mash potatoes were colder, and the crab/asparagus - forget it. So, I asked Ashley if they could warm it up for me. A short time later the manager - a rather large bald man - placed my entree in front of me and said, "I'll be back to make sure that this is to your satisfaction." Funny... HE NEVER CAME BACK. He talked with another party at another table, and then another one after that - but never once came to check on my satisfaction. Luckily for them my food was now warm - still not hot, but warm. At the end of our meal, when I didn't think it could get any worse Ashley returns with the bill and says, "I feel really bad about your salmon. We're doing this email promotion right now with some of our customers - would you like to take advantage of that offer and get a free desert." Now, I'll admit - I'm being picky here but DO NOT say to your customer that you are willing to give them what you're giving to every other customer who is on their email list - to compensate for a mistake you made. She would have been much better off just saying, 'we'd like to comp you a desert," or something to that effect. Now, I'm just getting what every freeloader on their email list is getting. NOT IMPRESSED. Our bill ended up being over $125 - thank God we had a GC for a good portion of that! Regardless of what you pay - if you go to a restaurant that isn't marketed as being Denny's or Applebee's - you assume you're getting the best service. Not at this place! Think twice before you waste your money here. You'll have better luck at Scott's!

Some friends and I went here because it is very kid friendly and we had a group with a one year old. All the drinks we ordered from their cocktail list were delicious! Especially the "adult" tea selections. The timing of the whole evening was really slow. We never got an explanation or even an apology that our food was coming out late. When we finally got our food, one entree was still missing and we got that it's on its way. We wanted a quick dinner since we had a kid with us but it took us over 2 hours to sit, eat and pay. We ordered the baby back ribs and they were delicious! The meat seriously fell right off the bones. Couldn't have been happier. The rest of the entrees were just ok, nothing special about them. We had a friend with severe allergies and it took a few tries to understand what not to put in her meal. They were accommodating but the friend was still skeptical about her dinner. Overall the food and drinks were good, but the long wait for it made it difficult to want to come back here.

I enjoy coming to Stanfords when I'm feeling a urge for quick eats and get togethers. This place has (in my opinion) a large menu for American bites, however no drinks! They have some specific drinks during their first HH (3-6pm) such as draft beers, and wines, but no cocktail specials. Their bar area can get crowded and filled up quickly, so make sure you come when HH starts to get a seat. Also, inside is ridiculously COLD, so bring a sweater if you are in your clubbing dress. There are some plates to stay away from though, such as the mac & cheese (despite raving reviews), the mushrooms (way to sour/sweet, disappointed), and the chicken wings w/ onions. My friend got that plate...but it came with only ONE onion! Not bad for some inexpensive, selective eats. Service could be better though, especially when it gets busy...my water glass has not been filled up since an hour and half ago.

This is one of our favorite places to go for Birthdays. And my husband and I would like to thanks Nico (our server for the night) for the excellent service he has given us. He was a great example of customer service! I would also like to recommend their Knife & Fork Crab and Artichoke Sandwich. While everyone else was ordering their Burger I decided to order something different. And surely enough, I was amazed on taste and the presentation. It was so good I could have ordered 5 more! I can't wait to head back there in August for my birthday dinner :)

I've been to Stanfords twice now and I would go again. They have a great happy hour menu (food discounts only for late night happy hour) and their food is quite tasty. I haven't been here other than to go to happy hour, so I can't speak on behalf of the rest of the restuarant, but I like what I've experienced. If you sit directly at the bar, service won't be awesome, but anywhere else will be fairly good. This is a solid establishment. It's nothing too extravagent but you will leave satisfied.

Okay, our food was great. Tasty sirloin steak with tasty mushrooms in light gravy and yummy asparagus. And our waitress, Heidi, went WAY above and beyond when some of our smaller soup/dessert choices were not available. We felt very spoiled and attended to! The kind of place we want to go back to and WILL go back to!

Great for happy hour and wine with friends in the bar area. Mac and cheese isn't worth the $16 off the regular menu but a smaller portion for less at HH makes it taste better :) Hate the pickled carrots that come with their otherwise delicious (and crispy!) Wings.

I'm really surprised no one has mentioned the following... Happy hour, you cannot take home left overs. It's against policy. I shared two apps with a friend so we could try different things, when I asked them for a box for the remaining they told me it was against policy during happy hour. When I asked what they did when someone doesn't finish their order...they simply said they throw it away. Hmmm?? Even when the customer pays for it????? Second thing I found strange about this place was that they have a 3 drink maximum. If you order any alcoholic drinks, no matter if it is the lightest beer ever crafted or if you stay for hours, you are cut off. This was quite the disappointment when my friends threw me a birthday dinner here. Especially when a few of us were told we had reached the max and it was not accurate. Service was incredibly slow too. Those two trips are probably my only to Stanfords...unless they have changed their policy??

I am 100% willing to admit that I was very wrong about Stanford's. After receiving a sincere apology and promise of better future services from their awesome manager, Chad, my husband and I ventured out for another date night at this restaurant. Totally the opposite of my last visit. Delicious food (would absolutely recommend the Kobe burger!), amazing service (Craig, our waiter, was a rockstar), and polite greetings and attentiveness from everyone who passed our table. We'll be back again VERY soon!

Went here because it was quick and convenient to go to. In all honesty I didn't have too many complaints; we were seated quickly, had a super friendly waitress and had a decent meal. Then again, we went on a Tuesday night and there weren't that many people there, so we probably got fairly good service in comparison to a more busy night. HH prices at night only apply to food. Nothing out of the ordinary but honestly I don't really remember what any of my food tasted like. Just decent grease to line my stomach for my beer. Will I be back? Maybe.

Your typical HH menu. Prices has gone up since they opened. I was disappointed in the cutback of the portions. Your "best" HH place in Northgate....

We went here for lunch on Sunday this week and the food was great! We started with the margarita flatbread. It was pretty tasty. Followed it up with some fish and chips which were also very good. They put a lot of spices in the batter which is different than what you normally get with fish and chips. I liked it. I gave it 4 stars because although I loved all my food, my fiance said his burger was just OK. He didn't like the avacado salsa they put in it.

Went here for happy hour. Food was not bad. (Note if you are vegetarian.. there aren't too many options.) Server was nice and we got our food pretty quick. Average portion sizes. We got sweet potato fries (pretty good actually!) chicken strips, mac and cheese, portabello mushroom (not worth it), a nacho bowl (meh..) a pitcher, and a couple mixed drinks.

So after receiving a comp card from the manager for the atrocity that was our last visit we headed back in, less 4 people, for dinner. We had Heather for our waitress this time and she was amazing. She immediately brought out a cheese bread and grape snack for the kiddos, was attentive, and just all around great. My only gripes this time around is that my steak salad came with steak that was far too rare to eat. In the past they asked how I wanted my meat - this time she didn't, so I didn't send it back, just pushed it aside and ate the salad. Also, the rootbeer is in the bottle, not on tap, only the don't tell you this when you order it. The kids' menu says that a soda is included with their meal, but apparently this doesn't include rootbeer. When I asked Heather about it she explained and was happy to remove it from the check. In the end - Heather saved Stanfords in our eyes. If she hadn't provided this top notch service we wouldn't have returned in the future. Now, we know that we just got a bad situation, not their norm.

Sunday evening with a friend just back from 3 months in Europe. Lots to catch up on so three hours whizzed by. We never felt rushed and our water glasses continued to refill long after our turn at the table should have been over. The baby back ribs literally fell off the bone, and the extra signature BBQ sauce was an excellent complement. Blue cheese sauce in the cole slaw dramatically improved the character of what I've always felt was a bland side...a nice touch. An overall good value no matter how it's measured.

Worst meal I have ever had in Seattle. Slow, horrible service and indifferently prepared food. I ordered Fish and Chips. Big mistake. The fish was nearly burnt and the chips were a soggy congealed mass of shoestring potatoes. Ivar's does better.

I've went twice, though never when busy. Both times food was excellent and service was quick. A little pricy for a chain restaurant, but overall a good dining experience. 1/4/14 - Back again and bumped to 5 stars. Excellent service and food every time we're here.

I was pleasantly surprised! Pulling up to a restaurant at a mall lowered my expectations, but Stanford's was pretty good. I really enjoyed the Knife & Fork Crab and Artichoke Sandwich. The serving size is small but filling, and the sandwich was itself was very flavorful. I would definitely come here again for lunch.

My friend is a fan of late night happy hours and invited me to check this out. Although this has now been here for many years I have previously avoided all invites to eat here. The menu does not appeal much to me and I hadn't heard great things. For some reason I had it in my head this was a fancy steakhouse. My friend does seem to enjoy their bacon mac n cheese. I was unaware that this had a huge bar section and was open late into the evening. I tried a side salad and some french fries. Both were edible, the fries were pretty good. I wouldn't go here just for these though. Some of the cocktails did sound pretty tasty. Our server was pretty great and checked in with us often and kept refilling our beverages. I'd go back to the bar or for a snack, but wouldn't make this a regular in my dining rotation.

Lackluster service. Lackluster food. Really slow. We originally went there for the koby surf 'n turf burger, which we ordered and waited on. Then they came and told us they were out of koby, which is the main ingredient on most of their burgers. And this was around 7pm on a Monday... So we replaced the burger with the macaroni, which was decent. However, we also ordered the southwest salad, which apparently, is poorly described in the menu. It states that is has crisp greens with beans and corn and some pesto dressing. But what we got was more like cole slaw with beans and dry chicken. No crisp greens, only cabbage. The positive thing was we got a free dessert scratch card for ordering the burger even though we never got it. Pecan pie. That was ok, though it had a strange burnt caramel flavor. A little too pricey and slow and not good enough to go back. Even for the kobe.

We first came for dinner when it first opened. I thought it was funny that you could get your steaks in "blue." My dad and brothers had steaks and I had a fish. It was actually all better than I thought it would be. The portions were just a little small. Now I come often for happy hour. It's an ok little happy hour. The portabello mushroom and macaroni and cheese are very good. I've also enjoyed the roma tomatoes penne pasta, fries and southwest chopped salad. I have two complaints about this place: 1. They change the happy hour menu. For someone like me with dietary restrictions, I keep track of the places with food that works for me. I've actually had to come in, look at the menu and leave before. 2. Why are there no drink specials at night?! Well...I stop by occasionally to catch up with friends because its in the area. *shrug*

Went to have lunch. Very good service. They refilled my Arnold Palmer without asking, and I assume they didn't charge (though I didn't see the tab). I had the club sandwich. The sandwich was really solid. Awesome bread with nice grill marks and a reasonable amount of meat. Fries were just okay. I haven't read the reviews, but I am surprised it is only averaging 3 stars...maybe I've spent too long in Tacoma away from consistently solid food :-/

I've only been in for happy hour and I will definitely be returning. The food tasted great and it was perfect for sharing. We got there right at 9pm and within 30 minutes the place was pretty full. There weren't any booths available, so I would suggest if you want a cozy booth to get there when happy hour starts. Our waitress was very friendly & attentive. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have any drink specials during the late night happy hour. But the food was good enough to get me to come back.

The first new restaurant at Northgate Mall and quite possibly one of the best happy hours in Seattle--from 3-6pm and after 9pm--the restaurant is good but the value is the happy hour--lots of seating even for singles with tons of TV's for sports and the food is great--try the 3 ribs with one onion ring @ $4.95--the Mac and Cheese @ $3.95--draft beer or wine@ $4.00 or the Quesadilla's @ $4.95 or the Burger with fries @ $4.95 or the wedge salad @ $4.95 etc etc a great food menu-- great food at a bargain price--and one more thing-- it's fast fast fast service--almost like dim sum--not everything I review is expensive--Al

I'm not really sure why I keep coming back here. We've really only been here for the happy hour in the bar area and we've had pretty horrible service every single time. I think this will now be my little reminder to not come back. The have a decent happy hour menu and the food was just okay. We ordered the chicken strips, mac and cheese, and nachos. The chicken strips were over-cooked and dry, the mac and cheese was amazing (probably because it's a treat when I do allow myself to eat it), and the nachos was a pretty poor excuse for nachos (I've seen/tasted better at dive bars). The service was really unfriendly from the get-go and no one really seemed remotely happy to be working there. I typically always smile at the workers as I come/go, but no one here even really noticed the customers it seems. There was a worker at the front door as we left and he kept his back turned to us as we walked out. I simple 'have a good night' or 'thanks for coming in' would have gone a long ways.

They have good happy hour food. I love the chop chop salad and the grill mushrooms. Their happy hour house marlot is actually not bad.

Very happy with the drinks -- Cilantrojito was awesome, others at the table enjoyed their cosmos and martinis. Menu was very limiting for gluten free options. Had a burger sans bun which came out burnt on the bottom (I guess their idea of well done?). Someone at the table had the fliet mignon which was also overdone. Another person had one of the specials, the Kobe meatloaf which they enjoyed. Server was very apologetic about the mistakes, comped the steak but I was disappointed the manager never came to the table to apologize.

Our dinning experience was good in some respects and not so good in others. Starting off, we made a dinner reservation and informed the hostess we arrived. 15 minutes or so after the reservation the hostess asked if we made a reservation, we couldn't believe it! Finally, we we're seated. Placed our order with the waiter. One person in our party ordered a hamburger and it was pink in color on the inside. The waiter took care of the issue...just a had to wait a little bit longer for a fully cooked burger. The waiter did not charge us for the under cooked hamburger. The rest of our meals were good but nothing special really.

Always very clean, booths are very private and the restaurant is quiet. Food is great, the Chicken Caesar is wonderful and has a nice smokiness to it. Service is great, if not a little overly attentive at times, because sometimes it feels as if they have forgotten that they just asked you how everything was.

Granted, I am a food snob. Should never have ended up here. The fish tacos really sucked, so blah. The salsa was gross and had a film on it. My waiter was cool and took them away. Now I have been waiting for my replacement for a bit but at least the guy is checking in with me. He is cool but I won't be trying this chain again. The food isuch better from the street carts, but we already knew that. What was I thinking ?

My husband and I decided that this week we'd better use up some gift certificates that we've had hanging around since Christmas, so when I got home from work last night we headed to Stanford's Restaurant and Bar. After one of the most delicious mango mojitos I have ever had, it went a little something like this: Salt and Pepper Calamari with red and green peppers and tri-dipping sauces... 14 oz Rib Eye served with steakhouse butter, grilled asparagus and parmesan garlic mashed potatoes... Crispy Halibut Fish Tacos made with grilled tortillas, shredded cabbage, chipotle ranch, and fresh avocado-tomato relish... Dessert Trio including chocolate fudge, red velvet cake and bread pudding. Totally worth indulging! Plus, we had one of the nicest waitresses I have ever met, and even though the place was packed we found a booth right away in the bar and our food came out quickly and everything was delicious. There was nothing super special about the food (chain restaurant style) but it was yummy and the service was great which made for a great little date night out.

FAIL! The service here is one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had! And I've been called a Dick by a server before. For the prices you'd think the service would be up to standard but not even close. Our server was so apathetic I think she was in a coma. The place was mostly empty as it was 9:00 at night. You brought our salads after a 20 minute wait and our entrée's came 30 seconds after that? Your comment of the kitchen being "speedy" was lame. Me thinks you forgot to bring the salad out!! Own up already! We didn't have enough room on the table for all the plates! I loved how you would cruise by quickly ignoring our empty drinks and stack of plates that needed clearing! Not only do I want my $65 back but I'm gonna flip you off every time I drive by this place for at least the next year!!

OMG - my friend and I had the Kobe beef burger and it was melt in your mouth delicious. I've been here many times and the prices are fine. The waitress gave us her opinion and she was awesome - I wish we could remember her name and give her credit for all her recommendations.

they lost our reservation (which we called in. In retrospect I hear the online system works well), so we had to wait 40 minutes for a table, then 40 more minutes for food. It was Christmas Eve so empathy points for that. Food was decent, portions too large. Small selection of decent beer, full bar. I cannot comment on the menu as it was a special, very limited, Holiday menu.

3 stars is a perfect review for this place. It is a great mix between eh and good. We were greeted right away and were sat in no time. The patio looked really nice (at least when it's a WARM summer day). I had read reviews about here before I came about some stupid rules they have. Luckily I didn't come during happy hour, didn't need more than 3 drinks, and didn't need a box! There were many Tv's and the the decor reminded me of a budget fancy restaurant. We ordered beers and burgers. The server was pleasant and everything was refilled and picked up in a timely manner. Only complaint is salad that came with the burger was a little weird and although the server was perfectly nice, the service didn't break through any level. It was just doing the tasks your supposed to do when you have to do. A little more genuineness and connection would have been nice. Otherwise it was a decent, affordable meal (unless you get a steak).

During a relatively impromptu meet up with Aaron for some catching up and a general release of stress through the intake of alcohol, while we dueled our livers to the death at the Baranoff, he suggested we swing in here for HH. Good call. Not somewhere I likely ever would have gone, seeing as I didn't ever even notice it existed before, but I was glad he thought of it! Cheap HH prices on drinks and a pretty good basic HH menu. A basic (but very good) cheeseburger and fries was under $5. And it wasn't some tiny slider, either. We took immediate seating in the bar and service was prompt and friendly enough. I think I'd file this place under "decent chain, great for HH, would not go far out of way to find". If I worked nearby or this was a meet up place at the beginning or end of other plans (which, basically means shopping considering it's location, I guess) I could see coming here much more often for the HH.

Eh.... not sure if this is even a solid happy hour destination anymore. Sickly sweet mojito. $5 ribs and onion ring basket had the potential to be good but it literally came out of the kitchen minutes after it was ordered. The ribs were tender and pretty decent tasting but were lukewarm on the outside and cold on the inside. The one onion ring it came with was hard and chewy and cold. The highlight of the dish was the side of blue cheese bbq sauce on the side. The macaroni and cheese, on the other hand, took an eternity to arrive. It too was also cold. The thin, watery cheese sauce was incredibly bland and the only thing that added flavor were the three or four crumbles of bacon. On the bright side the pasta was flawlessly al dente. Willing to give Stanford's another shot but their previously solid happy hour was a major disappointment.

You cannot go wrong picking this place for happy hour. Great drink prices and great food prices. A rare combination. Also the food is excellent, everything from a quesadilla to a rib basket. You can easily eat and have a drink for less than 8 dollars. I strongly recommend it if in the northgate area.

I enjoy going for happy hour. The drinks don't seem to be much savings, but the food is definitely cheaper. I love the mac & cheese! The steak teriyaki bites are quite tasty as well. The dinner menu appears decent, although perhaps not the most amazing cuisine. I had linguine recently and while the sauce had a great flavor, the chicken was on the dry side. Overall, not bad tasting, but I wouldn't say it was the best. However, they recently handed out $20 gift cards to anyone who came to eat on New Years Day, so that was nice. We got more in gift cards then we actually spent on our meal, so I can't complain! I've never had any trouble with the service. They have always been courteous and prompt every time I have been there.

Tried HH on a Wednesday evening here. Got in around 5, when 2 out of 5 of us had arrived. Seated right away on the patio and took our orders. They were still slow in getting us our food, but we had a much better experience overall! I had a house salad, which was nothing incredible, just very basic. I appreciated the large portion though. The HH house wine was nice. Overall we were satisfied with our meals and they are redeeming themselves. Also, if you are in the mood for dessert and like pecan pie, theirs is pretty yummy!

Wow, I'm surprised at such the low stars for Stanny's. Their HH provides cheap eats, their booths are comfy, and their staff has always been attentive, at least when I've dined here. Most of my early 20s HH outings were at Stanford's before I discovered you can actually get BETTER tasting food for the same price, but this place honestly isn't too bad! One thing I was disappointed about was their decision to omit their penne pasta dish that was on their HH menu a couple years ago. Had your breath reeking with garlic, but it was totally worth it :). Recently went here for non-HH dining and it was a new experience for me. Prices for their dinner are ridiculous for the quality, but we had a gift card to make it tolerable. I ordered the veggie burger which was delicious! I gobbled that thing up along with the fries and was a happy gal. Service was great and yes, I agree with the other yelpers who mentioned their nasty tap water. For a place that charges $15 per dinner plate, they could at least serve better tasting water, IMO.

The first time I ever went to Stanford's I was with an uncle from out of town. He is a very high end guy who loves to treat his family to the good life. There was a group of caucasian Americans dinning in the restaurant at the same time as us. The service was poor for us and I decided maybe I'll give them another try. The next time I went to Stanford's (the 2nd time) I was on a date. I told the hostess that I am not a pork eater, she nodded at me as if she understood. I ordered the soup of the day, and a ribeye steak. The hostess told me that I would be receiving the mashed potatoes and the squash zucchini mixture. I was delighted. When the hostess brought my food back I got some beets and carrots, and the potatoes au gratin. I told her I didn't want those veggies since she had explained what I should of gotten. I started to eat my food and didn't realize the potatoes au gratin had bacon inside of it. The moral of the story is that I didn't want pork and they gave me it anyway! I won't be going back for the 3rd time!

Stanfords is an incredible place for happy hour. However, going at anytime other than happy hour will leave your stomach mildly filled and your wallet dying of starvation. Happy hour here is incredibly cheap. However, the price doesn't hurt the quality of the menu items or the variety offered. Spinach artichoke dip, potato cakes, and macaroni and cheese are among my favorite items to nibble one. The portions are a little bigger than you actually need for the amount of money you spend, and I never leave hungry. The bar atmosphere is very cozy and classy, albeit a little cramped. Definitely one of the better bar areas to dine in for happy hour if you just want to have a relaxing night and good conversation with friends. Definitely not suitable for watching the game. However, nonhappy hour at Stanfords can be very tricky. I ordered the bacon burger, which was actually decent, but a bit pricey and vastly inferior to much cheaper burger places. I also tried the fish tacos, which taste good but are covered with too many extra toppings. Happy hour - 5 stars Non-Happy hour - 1 star Average rating - 3. GO FOR HAPPY HOUR!

I have a love/hate relationship with this place...the first time I came here, I literally waited half an hour for my DESSERT..!!! and swore I would never come back...but I gave it a second try. and went there again and again for Happy Hour only. And I never ordered dessert there again. (I also had a problem with getting TEA) weird. However, i wanted to review this because they DO have really cheap happy hour so I guess you do get what you pay for. 2 stars for the wait :( but really good cheeseburgers, soup of the days and pork sliders! =)

My review is based off of happy hour only. Over the past 2-3 Years the HH menu changes so much, along with the price and quality of food. I had a $3 house salad packed with toppings, and a $3 house salad with just lettuce and some onion, so it makes it hard to rate this place. Their mac and cheese is so awesomely bad for you, but fk it, it tastes great. I think the best bang for your buck is the cheeseburger for $4.95. Services is good, but the menu doesn't offer anything more that mac and cheese and a cheeseburger that deem worth the happy hour price. They're not bad, but they're not great.

I only only only reccomend this place for the happy hour ALONE. Let's just say, I could have lived my whole life without ever stepping foot outside the Stanford's bar. The food on the regular restaurant menu is EXTREMELY over priced for what you get, and need I say not very good either! You're much better off dinning in the bar for the happy hour (3-6pm or 9pm-close). I went there last week for happy hour on my lunch, got the mac n' cheese.... damn good for restaurant fare! The chicken tenders are really tasty too, but I must say I am not a big fan of their fries. They have a wide variety of foods for HH, ranging from salads, burgers, pastas... all for about $2.50-$5.00 range. Don't waste a dime, or your time in the restaurant... Opt for the happy hour, that's where it's at!

This place has a pretty good happy hour menu with a decent selection and prices to match. The dining room's full menu is a little pricey for the quality in my opinion but I like to stop in here after a late night movie for a snack. The staff is generally pretty well-organized and polite. The BBQ Chicken Quesadilla is amazing! I would recommend it out of everything on the happy hour menu. I have to agree with other yelpers on this place being a a mix of ok & good. I would eat here again but I wouldn't make a habit of recommending it. Unfortunately, around the mall (meaning within walking distance) it's one of the only places with a happy hour and decent food/prices.

First of all, I grew up in the burbs so I do eat at places like this and like it. Don't like it? (to rehash a delicious comeback from 2 decades ago) So sue me! It was very clean on the inside and the service was prompt and amicable. The Salinas dip was great as usual. Since my mom and I were going to walk around Northgate, we decided to take it light and have the soup and salad combo. The soup was a prime rib chili and it was excellent! I loved it. Even though chili ended up not being light at all... It was great, but in the end it was still Stanford's and just didn't have that little something extra to push it to a 5 star.

My fiancé and I stumbled into Stanford's after an evening of shopping. We both ordered burgers, and were pleasantly surprised! They were absolutely delicious! We have gone back several times since and still love it! I also highly recommend their Pomegranate martini! Sugary but oh so delicious! Overall great atmosphere and delicious food!

This place might share the same name as a restaurant in Nor Cal but from what I experienced, this one was not as good. It was a warm, sunny day so the patio was oh so inviting. My husband and I had been at Gas Works all day and were heading home when we decided to stop at Stanford's, grab some lunch and sit in the sun. The manager that seated us and took our drink order was nice and speedy. Our waiter however was a different story. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant so I'm not exactly sure what took so long but he was moving at a glacial pace and after a while it was annoying. I ordered a half of a turkey sandwich and a salad off their special lunch menu and the hubby had a chicken quesadilla. Both were really good and their lunch prices were cheap. All in all it wasn't a bad experience, just a long one! I do like the patio and will probably be back to try other items on the menu. Maybe their happy hour will be as good as the other Stanford's I'm used to.

Went for the "2 for $25" special - figured it was a good way of checking out the place before we committed to the full price menu. Food = onion rings good and crunchy with a spicy dipping sauce Crab sandwich was good and my Husband enjoyed his penne pasta but nothing was "omg I have got to go back there." Service = not so good. 25 minute wait for the starter, then after 45 minutes waiting for dinner waitress brought the dessert? Had to remind her we hadn't had dinner yet! After another 5 minutes we were told "they lost our ticket". 5 Minutes later dinner arrived Don't think we are going to head back there for a full price meal with service like that!

Met a friend for lunch here before we went shopping, ate in the bar. The martinis are excellent, I had a cosmo and my friend had a raspberry lemon drop. The food was just ok, we had artichoke dip and I had a disappointing salmon salad. Service was ok.

i've been to stanford's many times. happy hour for food is pretty good, lots of selection and at a decent price. the butternut squash linguine is my new fave from the bar menu. my only gripe has been the service. yesterday's service fueled me to write this review. my server (danielle) started pleasant, occasionally checking up on us. towards the end of the meal, more people started coming in, and we didn't see her for 15 minutes or so. when she came back i asked for a box and she kind of threw it at me. i brushed it off because maybe she was in a hurry. about another 15 minutes later she dropped down the bill, took another 10 minutes or more to pick it up, and then dropped it back again silently. didn't say thank you for coming in. didn't say have a nice night. she said nothing. i'll still come to stanford's regardless. i've had worse service. i just thought that was extremely rude since we were a quiet table all night and didn't give her any trouble. maybe she was overwhelmed by all the customers that came in, i don't know. in any case, it's her job to be nice. and smile once in a while.

I've been here twice now -- once for a celebratory happy hour with my mom, and once for dinner (in the main room) with a larger family/friend group. The first time, happy hour in the bar was great. Our waitress was nice and prompt, the drinks were good for well drinks, and the calamari appetizer we split was quite tasty. The second visit, however, was downright bad. I ordered the pesto grilled halibut and was disappointed with every aspect of it. The pesto was low on basil flavor and poor consistency, the orzo was out of place with the rest of the plate, and the "salad" it came with was warm. Warm lettuce..?? At least the halibut was properly cooked. One guy at the table ordered a Vesper martini -- a la James Bond in Casino Royale. The waitress looked confused, and he asked if he should list the ingredients. The waitress said that no, she'd see if the bartender knew it. She came back about 7 minutes later to get the ingredients, which were listed in proportion. What came out, however, was missing the Lilet (essential to the drink) and consequently was only gin and vodka. Gross. Why would you make that? Overall, my second experience here was marked by slow service and bad to mediocre food, without apology for missteps. It's too bad I get the impression this is more the norm. If you go, just stay in the bar.

My favorite late-night happy hour spot in the Northgate area...not that there's a lot to choose from, but still. The food is awesome, cheap, and delivers big portions. And they have salad! On their HH menu! It's $3.95 for a huge plate of it! Unfortunately, there are NO LATE-NIGHT HH DRINK SPECIALS...big mistake. I find myself here about once a week or so with friends for a late-night bite, and we choose to drink before or after rather than pay $9/glass. That's almost 2.5 salads! Even $2 off would change that...just saying.

TAKE GAS-X AN HOUR BEFORE! Serious. I had the Garden Burger...and I shouldn't have. And, I shouldn't have been driving. I had to drive quickly home it was a bulimic moment. if I never had one. PARKING: It's at the Northgate Mall, dear...parking galore. QUALITY: Atmosphere over quality. (In all fairness, I have to say that the drinks were good...spendy...but good.) RETURN?: For drinks only, not the food.

Ive gone here a couple times for their happy hour. Its pretty darn good and Im pretty picky. The prices arent too bad, $5 ribs and a ring. $4 meatballs, $3 house salad that is more like a cobb or chop salad. Service has always been good when I visited. The friends I brought along with me liked it too. I did have a full dinner here a couple years back and remember not being that impressed. But since, have only had happy hour... They have an early & a late night happy hour. Give em a try.

Only been here for the happy hour and I can say that its definitely worth a try. The burger is the best value on the happy hour menu, although whatever you order you really cant go wrong with it. Other recommendations would be the calamari rings, macaroni cheese and the portabella mushroom are delicious as well. The drinks specials are okay, $12 pitchers and $3.50 wells/drafts/house wine. Although when I went the drinks were very light and I could honestly get a pitcher of something at the local bar for cheaper. The service is okay, friendly people who comeback in a timely manner to see how everything is going. Its never been to horrible, although the last two times I've been it seems like the waiter has forgot about my table and left us waiting for a very long time. Sad thing is that the establishment wasn't even busy, the server was just hanging out making jokes with the other coworkers. All in all it really isn't that bad of a place. People complain that food has gotten smaller, but the portion size is still pretty big, but not big enough where you couldn't finish it and waste it (no taking food home for happy hour). Good place to grab a bite to eat before a night out!

I'm surprised to see that this place only has 3 stars. I go here all the time for their happy hour and have never had a bad experience. They have a HUGE selection of food, for next to nothing. I love their steak bites and the mac and cheese. The alcohol happy hour is awesome as well. Not only are the beers at HH price but their well drinks as which (which are; Smirnoff, Bacardi, Jim Bean etc might I add) any of those for $3.50 is a good deal, anywhere in Seattle. But at a nice restaurant with a good menu and good location as well, this is a steal. I have never actually ate off the menu but I have looked it over and it all sounds good, your typical nice American cuisine restaurant. Looks good, a little on the spendy side for my taste, would be good for a nice date night out though. And I have seen them advertising a $19.95 3 course special which I would be more than willing to try if I had the time!

They are extremely inconsistent with their food preparations. The calamari is disgusting. Tator tots used to be amazing but they've started making them twice as big and they have lost their amazingness. Love the roasted Brie plate but sometimes you get enough bread, sometimes not. Sometimes you get 10 Garlic cloves, sometimes 4. They need to be more uniform. I will still go here however because sometimes all of the other happy hours are just too dang crowded!

Quick service, yes. Great food, ehhh not so fast. Theres always parking outside, although I have parked pretty far depending on the season especially when youre sharing parking with the mall and Barnes and Noble. Ive had dinner here before with an enormous party (20 people) and was surprised at how well the service kept up with our demands, although we all did arrive separately at staggered times. I ordered the Herb Crusted Top Sirloin. This steak was alright, out of a scale of one to ten it was a 6.9 I guess. Nothing too special about it, the mashed potatoes that came with it were really good and the vegetables tasted pretty standard for steamed. I dunno, it didnt really wow me, but it wasnt bad either, I mean it is a steak. If I were to order a steak, Stanford's wouldnt be my first choice, I wouldnt mind paying extra to go to an actual steakhouse or if I wanted something cheaper go someplace that had a steak special. For what I paid, I can definitely find better quality in other foods but, I havent counted this place out yet, I wouldnt mind coming back and trying other stuff on the menu. But I usually frequent this place for its happy hour. Happy hour here is pretty good here. They have the standard cheeseburger for 4.50 which is a good deal, Ive seen better happy hour burgers but the quality of this is pretty decent. I did not like the homemade tater tots, they were pretty nasty to me, in the menu it says pepper bacon and I couldnt taste any pepper nor any bacon and it was more mushy than it was cheesy. The ribs with one onion ring is a tease cause it makes you want to order more, the ribs are solid and you look at the one onion ring wondering where the rest of its friends are at. The service here could have been more pleasant, but they are fast. Food from the happy hour comes out surprisingly fast though which I will take over pleasantness any day. However, there is nothing on this menu that has specifically made me crave or want to come back here. The atmosphere is nice, they have tvs around the bar with no sound so watching a game here isnt too bad. Overall Stanford's is cool for what it is, but its not all that.

I like to call this type of restaurant "fancy Denny's". It's comfortable. American food -- whatever that means. Big. Dependable. Safe. No sharp edges. But there's nothing notable about the place. You won't get anything unique or interesting. But sometimes that's what you want. People like to hack on chain restaurants, but I think that's unfair. Good service. The food was a little slow, but it's not a fast food restaurant, so whatever. Their cobb salad had a little too much dressing, but otherwise it was pretty good.

They changed their menu again! $5 PINEAPPLE TERIYAKI STEAK BITES! They're like the ones at Jak's, but in more generous portions, more tender, and overall just more betterer. Also, tater tots! I didn't order them, but I regretted that after seeing someone receive theirs. WANT.

Eesh. If you must, ONLY go for happy hour. DO NOT go for dinner. Once of the biggest rips I've ever... Why I ended up here for dinner in the first place... But it was an acquaintance's birthday so we went. Besides waiting a ridiculously longggg time for Everything, drinks, salads, Everything. Can't believe they bill themselves as a "steakhouse". If your calling yourself a steakhouse, at least hire people that know how to cook it. Dh likes his steak rare. He made that very clear and the polite server was very encouraging, extremely rare sir "we will get that to you with a cool center" ! Trust me, when that thing came out, after an extremely long wait. It. Was. Well well done. WELL done. Yuck. Not like it was a fluke, no one was happy with their meals. Many things were cold. The tough well done "extremely rare" steak was the kicker though. He ate it, don't want to send food back in a joint like this, they probably get so much sent back and who knows what they do to the replacements. Ick. Dinner for 6 people that costs Hundreds of dollars should give you a little something more. Maybe I'm too picky. HA, right.

Stanford's has a great happy hour for food, in terms of hours, selection, portion size and price. Drink specials are only 3-6 p.m. but food specials are during that time and the late night happy hour that is 9 p.m. to close. Last time I was there for late night happy hour, my friend and I met up with a guy who ate a ton of food, like at least four meal-sized dishes on the happy hour menu, for the same total price as the two drinks my friend and I ordered. Their cocktails are quite delicious and they have a decent selection of local beer. All their alcohol is pretty average in price, both for happy hour and at normal prices. They have a pretty big menu in general when it comes to food and drinks. Food is of the pretty standard American type, and the quality is nothing to shout about but I'd say still good enough to justify going to a restaurant or bar for. Service is average to slow. I've never had a meal there that wasn't during happy hour, FYI.

Went for lunch today and it wasn't bad. Service was excellent, really - sorry I don't remember our server's name but she was friendly, very helpful and prompt with our stuff. Partner's smoked chicken fettucine was REALLY good, my Kruse burger was okay but very large and slippery. I wouldn't have minded something 2/3 the size and 2/3 the price. House salad that came with it (fries, slaw are other options) was just weird, almost cobb-like, with hard boiled egg and bacon added. Bacon good, egg bad...wish I'd known. I don't know that it's a good idea to put bacon on stuff without telling people, though. Being noobs we foolishly started with an appetizer, the Widmer beer-battered onion rings, which were enormous and made us go OMG and then we'll eat lunch HOW?...but, waitress to the rescue. She assured us they re-heat well and sent us home with a to-go box - a stout plastic affair I shall re-use as a bonsai dish. :b Dark but cozy, pleasant interior bathed in soft amber light. Manager checked in to make sure all was well - always a nice touch. HAWT busboy - also a nice touch. :b We would like to go back and try dinner sometime.

I'M ONLY REVIEWING THEIR HAPPY HOUR. I've been to Stanford's for a regular meal. Once. And I think that will remain as the one time. Happy hour however is a different story. One could order the entire menu, and still get out of there for under $30 (maybe). Everything on the menu is super easy to make at home, but it's one of those places you go to when you realize that you just don't have the energy to cook, and it'd probably be a lot cheaper if you paid $2-3 for it anyways. There's nothing too special about it, but boy is it a deal. And nowadays, they don't even require for you to purchase a drink (which in my opinion are usually pretty tasty), so it's just unbeatable for the value.

This review is for their happy hour only..and really their late night happy hour. I hadn't ever been before, so on a whim headed over to take advantage of late night cheap eats and drinks. The menu is a bit heavy...lots of meat and fried foods (even the house salad comes w/ bacon), but I liked the variety, and the great HH prices. Drinks were also priced well for HH. When we went late night (on a Friday), there were plenty of seats either at the bar, booth, or table. The servers were friendly and the food delivered promptly. I really enjoyed their trio of fries, and the onion ring that accompanies the ribs. Also, if you need to catch a game...easy viewing with the TVs in the bar. We'll def be back for HH...but doubtful we'd go there for lunch or dinner.

First, I have only eaten here for late night happy hour. However, the happy hour was great! We went on a Monday night and there were no real problems with the service. The food is very good for the prices, the fish in the fish and chips has a nice crispy crumb coating instead of greasy beer batter. The cheeseburger is okay, it is not going to blow you away but it will give you your fix. The mai tai is pretty good, very strong. The mojitos were great, they make them sweeter than I have had before which I love! They don't currently have happy hour drink specials but our waiter told us they were planning to introduce some within the next month or so. Mai Tai was $6.50 Mojito was $7.00 Cheeseburger $3.00 Fish and Chips $3.00 (I think)

We wanted to watch the Huskies play in the NCAA tournament, but every sports bar around was packed. We managed to find a seat in the Stanford's bar. It was packed house as well, so we were thinking we lucked out. We ordered chicken strips and the Sausage, Mushrooms & Chevre pizza. Sounded like a winner until we actually had it. The chicken strips were over cooked. The fries that came with the strips were soggy. The pizza was flavorless. Two stars are the for the good service and the nice atmosphere. No complaints about that. Plus I got to see the dawgs win.

I've been to Stanfords a few times now for happy hour and I've really liked it. I haven't had dinner off the full menu however, so keep that in mind. The happy hour menu is fairly extensive, with something for everyone. I usually get the spinach artichoke dip, and it is served with tri-colored tortialla chips. It is nice and warm, cheesy, and not overly spinachy or artichokey; it's a good balance. I've had the riblets and they were pretty good but you only get like, 3. The french fries were shoe string, which I'm not fond of because they tend to be less crispy. Maybe I will try them extra crispy next time. I also tried the pasta bowl (I think it was sort of a basil, feta, white wine sauce sort of pasta) and it was GREAT when it was hot, but started to go downhill when it was cooling. Make sure you eat it FAST. They also have specials on draught beers and house wine- $3.50. Not bad, I can have a glass of wine with my plate of spinach artichoke dip. All in all, I keep recommending this place for happy hour with my friends because I like their selection of happy hour foods and they are good. Service at the bar is also wonderful.

I was going to go with 2 stars, until I saw the description when I moused over "Meh. I've experienced better." The one star "Eek! Methinks not!" is much more appropriate. Standford's. It says "I'm classy". I share a name with a classy school down in CA. I've got rich mahogany interior, waitstaff all clad in black, and mission style lamps. Wow. So classy. I've also got food that feels like it could be served up as the special at a Denny's, but I'm going to charge $29 for it. $100 bucks with tip = onion rings, kids meal, one steak, one fish. And one beer. I would feel better if the waitstaff jumped me when I walked in, beating me about the face and neck, and stole my money at the beginning of the meal. I'd have righteous outrage in my belly vs. crappy food. All of the food made me feel like I was in Omaha. Fried. Greasy. Nothing fresh. All of the ingredients, across the board, were terrible. Serve was terribly polite. I mean really, really nice. Started off with the impression that he was going to be attentive and helpful. Then I saw him 2x more. Took 20 minutes to get the kid a milk. 15 to get the bill. There's at least 30 minutes in there that I'm going to want back on my deathbed. Good news? I had a gift card. Don't go. They don't deserve your money. Pay somebody who cares about feeding you. Wow. I think this is the most negative review I've ever written. Sour. Just like my stomach right now.

This place is only 2 stars in the dining room. The bar is better, because the bar menu and happy hour specials are a good value. The bar itself is comfortable and has good service. The main menu is... just okay. Last time there, we had meatloaf and fajitas, which were, just okay. I've eaten there 3 times now and found the food to be bland and a lot of over steamed veggies. The main reason to go to Stanfords is that if you want to go to the mall area, it's really convenient, and not as noisy as the other restaurants at the mall and there's a nice bar where there will be no small children screaming. So for happy hour and bar ...its A-OK.

If there is a high end chain restaurant category, this has got to be one of the worst ones. Awful service + bland tasteless food = recipe for disaster. Our party of 10 was ignored for about an hour until we finally got service and then had to wait an additional hour for our food. Seriously? 2pm on a Sunday? We were the only people in there besides the endless supply of waitstaff who seemed to be enjoying their shifts by gossiping to each other instead of doing their job - waiting on clients! The insult to injury was the bland tasteless food that everybody in my party agreed was nothing short of bland. I honestly don't know how this place is in business. I guess when you're backed by big corporate dollars anything can survive... F*** this place and their bland 'food' if it can be called food. Stay away folks! you've been warned.

I am not fond of this place. I have been there twice and both times the service was good the employees were nice but..... the employees seemed over dressed for the type of restaurant it is, they were almost formal in their work attire? and due to the atmosphere i was uncomfortable the entire time i was there. the last time i was there two years ago as i type this I was greeted politely and very professionally at the door and had to wait 30 minutes before they could find a seat for one even though the restaurant didn't seem busy. I just wanted a steak dinner they tried to talk me out of ordering Medium rare because it could make me sick when undercooked, and i could only have two items with the steak without a surcharge. the soup and salad was exchangeable for starch and vegies or vice versa BUT added items were $5 or more each. ( a cup of soup or a salad for $5 ? ? no way) then when it got there the steak i ordered had some strange toppings on it, and it was priced like it was in upscale NYC, the portions were much smaller than i felt they should be for the money charged. the only way i'll go here again will be if someone else is paying

I would give this place a 3.5 if I could, but I can't so 3 it is. The food is "A-OK", nothing spectacular, definitely better then my own personal cooking, but I wouldn't be jumping the guns to come here for dinner and the like. It's expensive for the quality of food, but that's just what you get these days, mediocre food but you're supposed to be paying for something good. Maybe I just have high standards but I expect my food to be delicious with every bite, is that asking too much? I got the chef's special one night, can't remember the exact name but it had steak, mashed potatoes and asparagus. My steak came out a bit cold, now, I know with a medium rare piece of meat, it can't come out steaming hot, but I didn't expect it to be stark cold either. Either way, the sauce that included blue cheese in it was pretty good so I forgot about it by the end of the meal. I like the Happy Hour the best, unlucky for me, one of the items I usually get: Calamari, is now taken off the menu the most recent time I went *which was last night*. Good thing they still have the Stanford's Mac and Cheese or else i'd have to stop going-- just kidding. Anyway, the HH is pretty good, prices are cheap and the food is decent, and it tastes even better during HH because the prices are so cheap.

I used to go to the Stanford's in Portland all the time back in the day...and the one in Seattle used to rock...but I feel like they have changed the happy hour menu a few too many times now...I can't keep track of what's coming and going...two months ago when I had the food it was good, I went out just before the 4th of July and the meatballs were under cooked and somewhat raw and gross...the chicken strips must be from a different farm...because they just weren't as good as before...too thick and chewy. I was a little disappointed to say the least, especially since I made 3 other people go there that night and it just wasn't up to par. The drinks were decent though.

Great value for lunch. I'm a sales rep and always on the road locally. Stanford's value for lunch is excellent. The burgers, particularly the veggie burger adds enough stuff to a standard veggie burger to make it their own. Particularly love the dressed watercress on top and the handcut fries on the side. I always eat at the bar, where the bartender is same everytime I go, and she's always nice and efficient.

Stanfords had disappointed me several times for dinner...but their happy hour is spot on. Good food, lots of TVs, cheap eats and drinks...yeah baby!

I love this place for happy hour. They have really good cheeseburgers, and calamari. They also have a pretty good mac and cheese. I also hope that they bring back the crab cakes. I've tried it for lunch, but I didn't think it was worth it for the price. For great food, great service, at an affordable price, come here for happy hour.

Enjoy the location here, had met a group after work. I had the rib and rings and a brew it was good, the waitresses were great.

I had been here for a few happy hours and have always been pleased with the menu (even if it is creamy, rich, cheesy and greasy bar fare). The pea salad is delicious! As is the spinach and artichoke dip. The bar is nice, with lots of booths (watch your step, I don't know how many times I tripped going into or stumbled coming out of one of the elevated booths). I've also finally done dinner here, and had a great chimichurri skirt steak. Service that night was great, albeit a little overdone. Our poor, sweet waiter had apparently just been chewed out by his manager for something, so he was working hard to be in top form. Mind you, he told us all about this which might speak to his professionalism. But we gave the poor guy a break, and he seemed to settle down alter into service. I'll be back. The prices are decent, the happy hour is good. And quality service seems to be a concern of management!

Customer wanted to eat here for lunch. Thought the atmosphere was nice, the wait staff was a bit hit and miss the food was better than average. Had the salmon and a salad, both were good, but a tad pricey for the portions.

Happy Hour/Bar review Consistently good quality on most dishes. The portabela is the best by far, it has been great every time I've come. The ribs and ring are also super grubbin and a great value. The quesadilla is nice as well, all little bit of sweetness and a smokey sour cream sauce drizzeled over the top. Plenty of seating and long as you're cool with bar tables. Skip the meatballs, or any sort of steak bites, etc. Task is meahh at best with a decent sauce and you are basically paying a $1 per meatball.

Not good food for the price you pay. $50 for two sandwiches and one salad, and it was mediocre at best.

I first came here for a light lunch and sat the bar area. Their bartender at the time was amazing! He had ticket after ticket coming at him but he dealt with them deftly. Awesome to watch. There is a tall blonde woman who serves in the dining room area near the back, the times I've gone with friends we have had her and she is very good. Never writes anything down but always has had our orders right (and we're picky with our food) Pros: Food, service, bartender Cons: Any day of the week past 6pm it is difficult to get a table under 20 minutes. I guess they are popular?

Stopped into Stanford's for happy hour one night before hitting a movie at the Thornton Place Cinema. It was pretty crowded when we arrived. I think we got the last remaining unoccupied booth. It is clear that this is a popular HH spot in the north end of town. The prices are great. Unfortunately, the food, at least what I tasted, is just not very good. The fries were completely flaccid -- no crispiness at all. The calamari was plenty crispy and served piping hot, but the coating had no flavor at all. The fries came with a "blue cheese-BBQ dipping sauce" and the calamari with a "mango-cilantro aïoli." But both these sauces were completely tasteless -- and not in the wearing a plaid shirt with striped pants kinda way. They were just dull. [On the plus side, my husband ordered the mac and cheese, which he reported to be "above average."] The service was fine. Our own server disappeared on a couple of occasions, but that was just because he was so busy. And, when he was not available, it seemed one of his colleagues always quickly stepped in to fill in. The water in the bathroom was the perfect level of lovely, toasty warmth. This might seem an odd thing to review. But, sometimes the water is so lukewarm you don't feel you're really killing those germs (or removing residual foodstuff). Other times, it's so hot, you're ready to make a trip to the nearest burn unit. But, the water here was just right. Overall, I'm glad we checked out Stanford's as we've been meaning to do so since it first opened up at Northgate however long ago that is now. BUT, I'm glad we went for HH since we got out for about $20 instead the at least twice that it would have cost had we gone for dinner. If we were somewhere where Stanford's was our only dining choice, we'd certainly go again. But, if we had other options, we probably would not.

Its a nice place to hangout and grab a few munchies during Happy Hour but I wouldn't recommend going there for drinks unless its happy hour. The Chicken quesadilla was pretty good and a decent portion for one person.

I like all the reviews on this place, Mine is Just this... HAPPY HOUR is really Good and to me great pricing, Complaint would be "Healthier options" What really is a Happy hour anyway?? Is it a way for the place to offload there extra food, Is it more money. or is it a way to sample there menu? I have come for many years and have to say that Carlos is a Great Manager!! Almost all the staff I have met are pleasant, Tabitha and Marie who work there are on there Game!! Great service ;) Parking is abundant and I love the air freshner in the bathroom. Please get some Healthier options to eat, Salads are a Bore!

I had previously given this restaurant 2 stars based on previous dining experiences. My wife and I decided to give Stanford's another chance this last weekend. The food was so good that I had to completely re-do my review. Before Saturday, I would agree with what the other Yelpers have to say: typical happy hour menu, applebees-esque, etc. I have decided independent of those reviews that all happy hour menus suck, and that I do not enjoy spending money on sucky food. The wifey and I were seated in a "stroller-compatible" area (as we have a 4 month old) without much grief from the staff. Believe it or not, this is rare in the Seattle restaurant market in our experience. We each ordered a salad, and they were prepared fine. They are salads, and I am not a great resource for judging rabbit food. However, the main course is where this restraurant TOTALLY REDEEMED ITSELF. I had the prime-rib french dip with fries and my better half had the fish tacos. Both were awesome. Here is what I look for in a french dip: 1. If the restaurant says they use prime-rib, then it should actually be prime-rib. Crazy concept huh? You would be suprised. Sanford's prepared the prime-rib meat medium rare as requested and diced the meat perfectly for such sandwich consumption. 2. Au-jus. The dipping au-jus was flavorable and the perfect compliment to the sandwhich. 3. Good horseradish sauce. I could not have been happier with the product Sanford's provided. I did manage to steal a bite of my wife's fish taco, and the halibut was flavorable yet crispy. That combined with the dressings put on the taco created what can only be described as a circus of delight to my taste buds. We will return.

A friend and I were in the area shopping and running errands and wanted to hit up happy hour. This was the only place we both have never been to/isn't anywhere else near U-District so we waltzed in. All of the servers were really, really nice and on top of things. I ordered the macaroni and cheese, my friend had the chicken strips, and we split the tater tots. The macaroni and cheese was pretty divine for its price. Very yummy and lots of bacon! I definitely recommend it. My friend said her chicken strips were just alright but the fries were good. The tater tots were... interesting. The waitress did warn us they aren't your average tater tots but I felt like all I could taste was the deep-fried burn. I wasn't a fan, unfortunately. Oh yeah, and the prices for special drinks aren't too bad, just average I'd say. $4 for draft.

Terrible service. The hostess is sometimes at the door. Once she looked at my friend and said, "Do you need something?" Um?? The tables aren't cleaned promptly. Service is just OK when you get it. This covers 3 visits and a 1 more chance visit. Avoid this place until they get their staffing issues are fixed. One good thing, the manager was really great on one visit, but that's one person. I wish they would give him more support to hire better people.

I went here with my husband and elementary-age kids recently and we had a great experience! The wine choices went beyond the usual boring chain restaurant choices and I was under the impression that they change them periodically...I could be wrong about this...The atmosphere was art deco/ nicer steakhouse. It looked updated and it made you forget you were right next to busy streets and freeways. Service was good--when you come in with kids, you want quick and attentive, and that's what we got. My husband and I shared a rib eye dinner. We got zero attitude from the waitress about this, and our dinner was already split onto two plates for no extra charge. Yay! The children's menu was mix of the standard chicken nuggets and mac n' cheese combined with a few more original choices. Our steaks, salads, and sides were really delicious. So now whenever I am in Northgate, I will definitely come here again!

I have to preface my review by saying that we tend to only dine in the bar during happy hour. They have amazing specials! They have a great variety on their happy hour menu and the prices are amazing. They have drink specials as well, and the value there varies, based on what you order. The bar has booths as well as tables (a huge plus for me) and the service is generally pretty quick. Came for the happy hour special one night with a large group and they moved tables to accommodate us and kept the food and drinks coming. I have eaten in the dining room a few times, and I have to second what a few people have said that it can be a bit pricey for the quality without any specials. Still, our service has always been good and the food tasty.

Updated -- I've since been to the Northgate location several times, and while the food is usually edible, there're a few things worth noting: 1. The macaroni & cheese is worth avoiding. Greasy, bland, heavy with way too many toppings and not enough flavor. If you want to eat a boat of grease and carbs that tastes vaguely cardboard-ish, go for it. If not, stay away. 2. The service. This place is -slow-. It's huge, so I don't know if they have staffing issues, but a straightforward one course meal took about 30 minutes longer than it should've. We waited for drinks. We waited for the food. When that was done, we stared at our empty plates for 10 minutes until the server came around again so we could flag him down to get a check. There're worse places to eat at Northgate, I suppose, but when Chipotle sounds honestly more promising than your allegedly nice restaurant, it may be time for a good look at the quality & speed of your service.

I have only eaten here for happy hour but it is among the cheapest and tastiest on the north end. The bar is pretty big but it does get pretty packed during HH. There is wine/beer/wells for $3. The food is better-than-average bar food and the most expensive item was $3.50. The portabello mushrooms are great with a creamy wasabi-ish sauce. The mac and cheese is creamy, cheesy goodness and - hello! - it has big chunks of bacon in it. Yum! I loved the bbq quesadilla but my friend thought the creamy sauce on top was way too spicy. I just had to eat it for her. We finished up with $2 mini-sundaes that were, literally, the cherry on top. The service both times I have been is very friendly and efficient. Our waitress put in a second round and a last-minute food order for us so we could get hh prices.

I go here a lot for happy hour. Like others have said the happy hour is ok for the money, but the service sucks monkey balls. A few times Ive gotten up and poured my own drink and no one noticed or they don't care. I like the chicken strips which comes with dipping sauces. The artichoke dip is saltier than Triton's nipple. If you are salt deficient than go ahead and eat it. The dip at Cheesecake Factory is better. Their burgers are sub par. The mac and cheese is good, but its a heart attack on a plate ( as mac and cheese should be) No one knows how to work the TV stations to put them on subtitle. We went there on Obama's Inauguration Day. Whatever; you go for the cheap food and ample parking. Ive gone for dinner there when they first opened and realized they aren't kid friendly. What does a 3 yr old need with a cloth napkin? What do I need with a cloth napkin for that matter?

Had lunch here (south center) the other day and ordered the rib-eye steak--it was good but seemed like half the steak was fat. I recommend the mushroom topping my friend got. I had the "blue cheese crust" which was actually a huge pile of blue cheese that I just scraped off the meat. There was nothing "crusty" about it, tho I don't eat a lot of steak and maybe in steak-house lingo "crust" = "pile." Also had green beans in lieu of carrots (yuck) and they were kinda limp and tasteless like they were from a lukewarm buffet line. Place wasn't horrible but I will never go back unless it's a work thing or someone's party. The au gratins were tasty but question the bacon bits under the cheese..they aren't needed. If I seem a bit picky it's because I spent $30 on lunch and half the food remained on the plate!

Happy hour is awesome here! I've tried almost everything on their happy hour menu without disappointment. Their drinks are ok, not the best but ok. My faves to order are the southwest chop salad and the bbq pulled pork sliders. Don't order more than you can eat though, they just put in place a "no to go box" policy. So even if you could only finish half your burger during happy hour then you can't take the other half home. I think more restaurants are doing this right? I didn't know of this when I went on Friday so I ordered too much. Luckily my waiter was super nice and just told me for next time to remember this policy and boxed up my food. All the staff is super nice there! Try it out!

I think I need to give this place one star but I'll keep it at two. This was the second time I've been here and I hate to say it but it was just as bad as the last time. Why we decided to go again? I'm not sure about the answer to that one. I arrived before my party did only to wait for about 5 minutes before I was acknowledged by the hostess, then she disappeared again. We were seated and then it took another 10 minutes to get the waiter to finally come over and take a drink order. The food is not spectacular and the service is quite terrible. I asked for ranch dressing for my fries only to have it never come until I was done eating. I think our waiter was clueless about how to adequately serve a table of people. Plus, he spilled diet coke on me. Now, I know that accidents happen but that kinda sent me over the edge. Had all the other issues before that not happened, I would have wiped it off and said no worries. Don't eat here, it's a waste of time and money.

I was prepared to hate this joint but where else you gonna go near Northgate during happy hour? We sat at the bar. It was cozy and had soft warm lighting. The bartender was extremely attentive and had a very interesting voice. Hard to explain but I am betting he can sing in the shower. My buddy ordered wine and I a dirty martini. Not all bartenders can make a proper martini (let alone a dirty one) and I was delighted when the one I ordered came with a small amount of tiny ice particles. The role of the water in any cocktail is to calm down the flavors all around and to reduce the "burn" of the alcohol. This is extremely important for creating a cocktail that is smooth and relaxing. I give the martini 5 stars. I deduct a couple of stars because the food was so-so. But hey... you are basically at the Mall so get over it right? If you find yourself in Northgate and want a cocktail head over to the Mall. This joint is situated near where the old theater used to be. Order the dirty martini. If you happened to be served by "the voice" tell him Kat sent you.

The food is really good, but way overpriced here. I like the atmosphere, but the not the dent it puts in my wallet! It has a nice ambiance, not a place kids usually go which is nice. The servers are fast and on the ball too. The portion size is ok, but when you're dropping $30 for a plate it better be a pile of heaven and it just isn't. I would say go check out the happy hour at the bar, which i have not yet.

I've been to this place twice - always had to wait 15-25 minutes even when it was empty. Is it this their protocol to tell you and make you wait that long? People who had reservations had to wait for their tables as well. A recent visit - we finally got seated at a table that was vacant the entire time - first thing that comes out of our watiress' mouth - "Just to let you know we ran out of ... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 plus items ... " O... K.... so what do you have?" I was serious when I asked this question and she just laughed and went away. I wasn't laughing. Then we decided one of us will order the baby-rack-ribs ... oh wait, she comes back saying they ran out of that as well. ANYWAY, make a long story short. Service was slow ... and bad. We asked for water refills and she didn't come back until I asked again, 10 minutes later. Food was eh. ... pricey for the lack of ... everything, including the service. Nothing spectacular. I guess ambiance is decent but maybe I wasn't in the mood to enjoy it after eating and being treated like crap. Everyone says happy hour is great. Maybe that's the only thing they're good for.

Stanfords is easily my favorite restaurant in the Northgate complex. The food quality is very good. I love just about everything I get, though I usually order healthy-ish dishes and have never tried the macaroni cheese. The prices are a little higher than I'd like, but comparatively, not much higher than other chain restaurants (i.e., Olive Garden). We think the extra $ is worth the food quality. The staff have always been friendly and attentive, acknowledging to (at least our) table if they are stretched and are working to serve us. One time we came in after a Huskies game to celebrate a birthday. They took our cake which we brought in, unpackaged it, put birthday candles on it, and presented it to the table. Also- we've never stood in line. Ever. Been here a few times when we expected it, but we are always just shown to a table. On our last visit during Happy Hour, I tried a few drinks, one at the recommendation of our perky server. I hated it... one of the hot coffee drinks... and she took it away and didn't charge us for it. That's service. We also love the chili fries, very tasty! I tried a fruity cosmo (the name escapes me) and a huckelberry martini which just blew me away! If you're looking for good food, drinks, and service in an elegant but non-hauty atmosphere, this is your place!

Not great. Not bad. My girlfriend's peppercorn filet was very good, my "steak butter" ribeye was not. It was thin, chewy-fatty, and they burnt the outside. Every bite had that burnt flavor. Sad. Service was great and the food was served promptly. $100 for two of us with one round of drinks, salads, one app, and 2 steaks. Not bad, but I have had better for less.

I've eaten here about six times for lunch over the last several months. I generally agree with the other reviewers who note that it is a chain (not always a bad thing) and that the food is good but not surprising But that all changed yesterday when for the first time I ordered their Veggie Burger. Now a veggie burger is something I order on occasion when I want something akin to the burgers I used to eat (I eat chicken, turkey and fish but no other meat). Generally they range from OK to downright dull, but here... The burger I was served was, without question, the most tasty veggie burger I've ever eaten. The patty itself was juicy and with a rich flavor. It was topped with a sort of salsa of roasted vegetables, slices of portobello, and nicely melted Gouda cheese. Even the dang bun was excellent...and it all stayed together as a sandwich right down to the last bite! It was so good that I would even suggest it to my friends who are big meat eaters! Along side was a superior mixed greens with a lite balsamic, FRESH chopped egg, crunchy house-made croutons, etc. This was a real "full meal deal" and it even stuffed me, who has a pretty healthy appetite. And all for $9.50. Also note that the server was excellent, the manager stopped by to check on the meal and chat...the atmosphere was cool and dark. I will be going back much more often than I have in the past.

my review is based only on dinner - not happy hour... blah. nothing special. i didn't find there to be anything that stood out on the menu and it wasn't that big of a menu... at first i wanted to compare it to applebees and say it reminded me of an upscale applebees -- but i don't even think the variety on their menu compares. the food here was medicore, nothing to write home about... and for what it was, it was pricey. $17 for fish and chips??? seriously? no thanks.

As of 11/7/09, Stanford's has 76 reviews, so I'll make this one short. Hey, how about bulleted points? *Day/time/occasion: Friday afternoon happy hour *Crowd: 1/2 full, but buckets of rain were pouring from the sky that day *Fare: pretty typical mall restaurant food; there were a few salads, and plenty of gluten-ful food with ample fat; coworkers liked the mac & cheese; I ate the fries; anyone with food allergies should check out the bar menu beforehand: stanfords.com/page/menu/… *Service: when one member of our party decided she wanted another beer 5-10 minutes after our server came by for happy hour last-call, the server said she would try--and she succeeded; she was very friendly and attentive *Prices: decent for happy hour; my margarita-rocks & fries total was $9 and change *Likelihood of return: would happily meet my work peeps again for happy hour

Company = Large birthday party Mood = Good We came here and reserved a party of 25 which made the wait staff to sweat a few beads but we had our own closed off area of the place which was a nice touch! This place has a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately most of their food doesn't quite live up to the place. I ordered cajun chicken fettuccine that came out under-seasoned/sauced while my friend down the table got one with over cooked noodles. They claim the bowls to be big but for 14 dollars, my friend and I who ordered it was very dissatisfied. Although I'm not the biggest eater, I actually became more hungry after eating it all. Perhaps it was also due to the lack of chicken in the dish. My friend's "shroom" burgers were burnt while the insides were cold. I guess their grill was too hot that night. The fries were great though and their BBQ sauce is some of the best I've had. My friend's Mac n` cheese was pretty good. Dessert was great as well! Fried chocolate bars with vanilla bean ice-cream was definitely the highlight when it came to food that night. I would not recommend this place if you're hungry. The bar/restaurant seems like a nice place to unwind so maybe I should try this place for a happy hour sometime but my first experience was not what I thought it would be for the price.

I've been here twice, with my girlfriend. The first time we didn't really remember the experience (that should've been an indication not to go again). The second time was this evening - fresh in my mind. I ordered a cheeseburger extra well done, with a side salad. The burger was "meh" nothing special. They brought my food out without any dressing on the salad (I had ordered it with bleu cheese), and they put egg in it. The menu says nothing about egg being on the side salad, and the waiter didn't mention that. EW. I had to sit there for 2 minutes picking the egg out of the salad. Thank god I like bacon, because there aws bacon in the salad, too. My girlfriend ordered a steak, and the only sides available were different preparations of potatoes. She does not do potatoes, and there wasn't anything else offered in its place. She ordered her steak "super super well done." Apparently "super super well done" to these people means "pink in the middle." It was a $24 steak that she could only eat half of because the majority of it wasn't cooked. And send it back? Forget it, we were in a hurry. Needless to say the tip was exactly what was deserved. The waiter barely paid us any attention until toward the end of our stay. For the price the food isn't memorable, and when a simple "super super well done" does not suffice, I think that speaks for itself.

UPDATE: My BF and I revisited Stanford's in Northgate a couple weekends ago. We went for happy hour. The food was better this time around. I guess it's hit or miss at this place. The pasta for the rigatoni bolognese was cooked right this time, not hard and under cooked like last time. The chicken caesar was good. The chicken was moist and not dry like last time. The Southwest black bean and corn salad was OK. I am now giving it 3 stars instead of 1 star. I wish they would bring back the potato corn cakes.

We long ate at the Stanfords located in Southcenter and were always pleased with the service and the food, which was usually hamburgers, fries and salads. We've tried the Stanfords at Northgate a couple of times, with just a so-so experience, but nothing compares to our most recent experience there. We ordered a hamburger and salad. It took a longer than usual time to arrive - there were only 2 other booths occupied in the dining room. No cheese bread was delivered, no fries offered. The salad had lettuce with brown edges, so it was sent back. The next bowl of lettuce was the same. Both times, the server seemed in a hurry. The second time I asked for the manager. Along came a young male who approached us and said "Hello." He didn't identify himself, nor ask what the problem was. I showed him the brown lettuce, said there'd been no mention of fries, nor cheese bread (as we do receive at the Southcenter restaurant). He couldn't seem to respond with anything that made sense - he was very slow in forming any words - and he finally offered us an espresso. Huh? My partner had to ask him if he was trying to tell us that there would be brown lettuce, no matter what. I think he managed to affirm this. He did finally manage to put a sentence together to ask if we wanted the meal to be free. I asked who the "big fellow", dressed in a tie and shirt, who had passed our table earlier was. "That was Greg." I had to ask him if Greg was the manager. He said Greg was over him. I asked to talk to Greg. Couldn't, he just left. So we shared our burger, as that was all there was to eat, and left. This presumed manager either had an intrinsic inability to communicate and think or he was on something that altered his ability. Totally weird and inappropriate. We've never had such a bad experience anywhere. The guy was completely useless and seemingly senseless. We won't be returning to this Twilight Zone.

Went for dinner last night with a friend. Got there, good greeting, got seated, all good. The food here is good. Just good, not great. Its the service that needs some serious help. I have been here 3 or 4 times as I live in the neighborhood and every time we always have 2 servers. One "trainee" and the other an observer. I ordered the special which included a salad and a desert. Well, once we were done with our meal the check came, rather quickly. When I asked if my meal came with desert the trainee said no. I assured him it did and he began to argue. Why argue with your customer? Is it possible you are wrong? The restaurant was empty so he wasn't busy, at all. Finally after going to ask the his coworker he came to the conclusion that I was right, IMAGINE! By that time the bill was in front of us with the cc already processed. I asked to have the desert to go and he agreed. 15 minutes go by, no drinks, no water, no desert. I finally crossed off the little tip I was going to leave and left. They do have good food but if you cant manage good service, good luck getting through this economic downturn. I certainly wont be back.

The food was great. The prices were good. The server was friendly and professional. But I can't give them 5-stars because the service was S O S L O W! Our friends had come in from out of town so we went to Stanford's because we had heard good things. We also can't resist a great happy hour! The place was only about 1/2 full, so we really understand why we spent 2 1/2 hours in there. Besides the slow service, all was good.

My fiance and I ate dinner here tonight. Service was awesome! Food was good. Drinks were good. My fiance was starving when we got here so he ordered 2 appetizers and a main course. All of which he liked. He ordered the onion rings with the CA roll and filet mignon with chardonnay he liked it. I ordered the salmon and prime rib combo. Which was great! We would come back again!

The girl in the phone was nice except she almost let me go before I told her the temp I wanted my prime rib at. The food itself was ok. I was not at all impresses with what you get, the prime rib, mashed potatoes, and some steamed broccoli for $30. Most other places there would have been a salad or at least a choice of the sides or maybe there was and the person taking the order was too busy to offer them. Overall it was meh, probably won't go again.

I am completely mystified that Stanford's actually has three stars. That means somebody out there gave it five stars. Based on the experience I had last night, I would encourage people to never go there. I was there with a group of friends, and while our server was friendly (he was honestly the only decent part of the whole meal), the drinks came out exceedingly slow. I had the steakhouse burger which costs about $16. At that price, a person should expect a damn good burger. That is not what I got. It was lukewarm, covered in "special sauce" which you usually don't add when there is also BBQ sauce, and just generally unappetizing. My girlfriend had the pulled pork tacos which were also cold and just kind of meh. She ate the pork and left the rest. Not a great deal for $14. A couple of my friends had the tenderloin tips which were, surprising nobody, also cold. They did say the sauce they were in was good, though. Another person had the herb crusted prime rib, that came out as a tiny pile of mashed potatoes and a slab of meat. Not a great presentation. No word on it's temperature. Ultimately, at the price Stanford's charging for nearly everything on the menu, you'd hope that the food would be presented in an appetizing manner and at a temperature that at least implies it was cooked in the last 15 minutes. I would probably skip any sort of future event at this place since it simply isn't worth the money. With all the great restaurants in Seattle at the same price range, there is no reason to come here.

Service was great! But other than that our time here was a huge disappointment. Our appetizers came out completely cold. Food was an absolute joke. Didn't even bother getting dessert like I had planned. Not sure why I would ever come back here again. This place is just too expensive and the food is lacking.

I came here for dinner while on a date, and we had a great experience all around. I had been to Stanford's in Tukwila, but not this location. This was my date's first time at the restaurant. I ordered steak, and he had chicken. Our entrees came out piping hot, with great quality and presentation. Our waiter was fantastic. He introduced himself, made sure we had everything we needed without rushing us and kept the drinks flowing and cleared plates without having to ask us. He was there when we needed him and gone when we were engrossed in conversation. I'd like him to train other waiters and waitresses on that point. So many of them don't know when to interrupt or what to do without asking. I don't remember much of the atmosphere since I was focused on my date and the food, which was really good! What I do remember is that our booth had dark brown leather, it was comfortable, and the arrangement of it was great so that we had some privacy and it kept the noise level around us down a bit. The ambiance fit a steakhouse ambiance which was right on, and everything was clean. The parking area by Stanford's is small but it's located next to the mall which has a lot of parking. However, that fills up fast so I'd advise on planning to hoof it for a few minutes and bring an umbrella if it's raining. Food: 4 Service: 5 Ambiance: 4 Parking: 4

Came for some happy hour late into the evening at the bar. The bar had a more chilled atmosphere. There are tvs with sports and mirrors if you're sitting facing away from the tvs. Dark lighting, thus good for casual date or small group setting as it was also not too loud. I order the nachos and prime rib sliders. The nachos was slightly stale, but the stuffings made up for it. Beans, carrots, avacado spreads, etc. There is an option to order with chicken if so desired. There were only two small sized sliders with the prime rib sliders. My orders were not filling but also didn't over stuff me, thus it wasn't too bad for the happy hour pricing. The other friends I was with tried their mac and cheese, they liked it. Something I'll have to try next time I'm nearby.

We live near NorthGate mall and decided to try this place out last Friday night for their Happy hour! Horrible service! We sat ourselves and took long for a waitress to entertain us. When one finally came, she was so snotty and wasn't friendly at all. My bf asked her what kind of IPA's do they have and the waitress just took the menu from my bf's hand and flipped it to the beer page instead of explaining which ones they got! We ordered nachos and fries. She continued to look down at her note pad and looked up at me and just said "what you wanna drink?" I said i am good with water for now thank you and she pretty much just left. We waited for a while just for them to serve one beer! and take note we were sitting on the table in front of the bar and the place was not busy at all! When our food finally came! We were so disappointed looking at the ugly presentation of the nachos. It looked disgusting! Like someone just threw raw jalapeño, corn kernels, beans, slimy cheese, and cold chicken pieces and squeezed guacamole from a tube and put it on top of the very greasy nachos. I almost threw up tasting it! $8 for a disgusting small serving of nachos. What a rip off!! The only thing good was probably the ketchup for the fries! Felt sick eating that nachos. Terrible service. Never coming back here again! What a waste of money and a Friday night. :-( I suggest you go to MAma's Tortinis by the mall instead. They are waaaaaaaaaaay better!!

The food was edible.... We ordered the fried chicken and a burger but the meat was way too dry. The taste was nothing special but wasn't bad. For the price though, it really wasn't worth it. The front host was very nice but the waitress had a very strange attitude. She wasn't exactly "rude" but wasn't friendly at all. She gave very short answers and it felt like she wasn't even paying attention. Overall it wasn't a bad experience but it wasn't good and for the price, I rather go to another restaurant with friendlier staff and better food.

We moved here recently and wanted to try this place since we live pretty close from this place. 60+ dollars down the drain. Horrible fried chicken, about a inch of gross batter and under dry nasty chicken. The ribs were burnt. Never going back. I advice you steer clear.

This place has so much potential. Great location and good parking. The food, was very good. The only thing is they are a bit disorganized. Took about 5 Minutes for some to realize we had walked in. Then after being seated we got our drink order in. After that the service slowed down and we were not checked on very much. Our appetizer was never placed and when it came out after the food, it was disappointing. Skip the artichoke dip (emphasis on the choke). Burger was good. Ribs were very good!! Crime brûlée was very tasty too! I see from some of the other reviews that there is disorganization with the service and correct food orders. If they can get this down and be consistent, they would do much better.

I like to go for happy hour, but they recently raised the prices and lowered the portion sizes. I got the happy hour burger for 7.95 and my friend got the chicken strips for 7.95. . The burger was ok, but the 2 chicken strips were comically small for the price.

I've eaten here both during happy hour and for 'real dinner' and have never been disappointed. Their happy hour (food) prices are pretty decent and you can't go wrong with their $5 mac n cheese. Most recently came here on a Monday Night Football night and it was pretty busy. Needless to say, service was average, but the chicken-and-biscuits-with-gravy sliders ($8 or $9) were delicious. Sweet potato fries (the side they came with) weren't that amazing but they were fries. Ambiance here is perfect, not too formal for jeans, but also not too casual for heels. Since I frequent North Seattle, I will be back. All day happy hour on Sunday's gives me butterflies because their Mac n cheese is SO good.

We had our date night here last night, reading mixed reviews we decided why not decide for ourselves. The restaurant was busy so we opted for the bar. There wasn't a table so we sat at the bar, took a while to get our first drink (a beer). Meanwhile a table opened up so we decided to move there as it was hard to talk at the bar and the way the bar is set up I felt a bit trapped or claustrophobic. Our waitress was anything but customer service oriented. Anytime she would refill our drinks or bring us something we would say thank you and she would never acknowledge us. In fact at line point my boyfriend as if it was possible to turn the tv to a football game, when she came back he asked if it was ok, there was no verbal response, as she walked away she just put up her finger as to let us know to wait. The food came out and the gal who brought the food was friendly and outgoing, a breath of fresh air from our waitress. When our waitress came over to ask if everything was ok, it was like a child being forced by their parents to have conversation with another kid they did not like. I believe she actually outdid grumpy cat. The food was great, I had the steak salad, it was refreshing and the steak was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend had the full rack of ribs and was completely satisfied with the dish. Sadly the only time our waitress was actually friendly and said thank you was when the bill came, leaving a very sour taste in my mouth. Giving this place only 3 stars because of our horrible waitress. She put a bad vibe on our first experience. If it wasn't for her I would have given it a 4-5 stars. I would go back but would certainly avoid this waitress at all costs.

My first visit. I had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. The chicken was cooked so that the coating was dark, dark, dark. Four pieces from what must have been a pretty emaciated chicken. The mashed potatoes, I guess you could call 'rustic', as they were chunky and not smooth. The gravy was excellent, what I could taste of the two tablespoons of it there was. My wife was very happy with the Patty Melt. Didn't get a lot of attention from the server.

This an update...I went back for happy hour and was pleased with the service and the food. The drinks were right on and everything we ordered was better than expected. I wasnt sure if I would go back but after the back and forth with the manager which was pleasant we wanted to give it another go. The only thing was we were offered a gift card for the birthday meal but never received it. Oh well...we will still go back.

I appreciate Stanfords because they always do everything they can to make sure you leave happy. If something is not to your liking, or if you have a random piece of plastic from the bag of salad greens in your bowl, they rush over to dole out a gift card. I had just put the piece on the side of my bowl because I did not care, but the server noticed it, and then the manager came over to apologize and give me the gift card. They also took the salad off of the bill. That was really nice, especially since I did not complain about it. I'm not at Northgate often, thankfully, but I'll choose to eat here when I am.

Came here again for dinner with the grandparents and I snagged a drink at the bar beforehand. Every person working there we came in contact with was very kind and helpful to my grandparents who have a hard time getting around. We were seated in a table not far from the door and we had attentive service. Wednesdays are half price bottle nights! I thought this on prior visits and I'll say it again. The dinner prices are high! Most dishes that weren't sandwiches or burgers or personal pizzas are $19-30 and even the burger was $14. The portions are big and the food is decent but those are high prices for a chain restaurant in my opinion. I had the cod fish and chips ($14) and it was pretty good. Stanford's isn't a destination restaurant but it's ok for what it is- upscale casual dining. I can't help but think it's too expensive for a chain restaurant. If I'm paying $25 for an entree my first choice isn't Stanford's. For happy hour they have house wine for $5/glass and pints for $4. It's ok for happy hour but for dinner it's just too high for what they deliver I think. 3 stars is right, on. It's a-okay for what they do but I can't quite say I'd go out of my way to come here.

My first time at Stanford's was last week. My boyfriend and I sat in the bar for happy hour, the ambiance was nice. Plenty of seating in the bar, music was good and not too loud. The food was pretty good for the price. The only downside to this experience was our server. One minute after we sat down and got settled in our server asks if we are ready to order. She was not friendly or welcoming, sort of robotic and cold. She didn't seem too happy that we were not ready to order. We were there for a short period, about half an hour or so and every interaction we had with her was very minimal and unfriendly. I don't think she even cracked a smile the whole time we were there! The manager came and checked up on us to see how we were doing, which was nice. Overall, food is about 3-4 stars, but 2 stars for sub-par service.

When the other two restaurants we tried for happy hour didn't work out, we ended up at Stanford's. We sat in the bar and ordered almost half of the happy hour menu items. The stand-out plates were the signature mac-n-cheese with swiss, fontina, cheddar and bacon and the sweet potato fries with a bacon-cheddar dipping sauce. The nachos are not worth the money and I can't say I'd choose this place again, but our server was nice and the mac-n-cheese was worth writing home about.

Food was not that great, my fish and chips where full of bones. Yes the fish was full of bones , thankfully I didn't choke on them, the waiter thought he was always right, this place is overpriced and not that good.

I have been to several Stanford's in both Washington and Oregon and have enjoyed their service and food before. I had not been to the one in Northgate for some time and thought I would stop by for lunch last week. One of the nice things about Stanford's is that they are all pretty much the same so you know what to expect. I was shopping at the mall and had an afternoon appointment downtown so thought I would grab lunch, so I tried the bar. I found a booth and the waitperson, April S. greeted me as I was just sitting down! She was very welcoming and got me a wine while I perused the menu. They have a nice selection of lunch items at a great price and they offer a glass of their house wine for just 3 dollars. I selected the salmon salad and it came promptly and it was delicious. April checked on me often and I was very well taken care of during my stay. I am sure I will be back for another visit soon! Stanford's location next to the mall, is perfect for an afternoon lunch or Happy hour drink after shopping and would highly recommend it.

Walked into lounge at 9:40pm, bartender did not acknowledge for at least 6-8 minutes while she continued to make drinks and socialize with existing patrons. When ordering drinks, she continued to socialize and care for the leaving party, despite them being a bit intoxicated, which I'm sure they could have waited a few minutes to receive their bill. We eventually got our drinks and she mixed up who ordered what. Obviously she was not invested into us.

I've had mixed experiences with this place. The service is usually great. The food is good, sometimes my steaks come out a bit overcooked (they gave us a free dessert when we said something). One occasion though we ordered the artichoke and found a bread clip in the bottom of the melted butter. The manager was nice and apologetic but I was a bit surprised he didn't comp anything (I know, seems like I'm just begging for free stuff). One major dislike is their heavy use of blue cheese. A lot of items on the menu have it, which seems strange since I don't know many people who enjoy it. I ordered I think the Cobb salad without and it came with blue cheese anyways. I think I need to learn to complain more and louder ;) Overall when I'm in the mood for a steak or nice dinner, this is the place to go without getting too pricey.

Whenever I'm in Seattle, I enjoy stopping by Stanford's for dinner and drinks. It's an attractive and comfortable restaurant, the menu has a good variety of choices, the food is always thoughtfully prepared, the cocktails are just right, and the service is always friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient.

My wife and I came here because we wanted to try something new! Upon walking in we were greeted by a wonderful hostess. We then decided to enter the bar, we were baby free tonight so we deemed it to be appropriate. We started off by ordering a beer and my wife ordered the "raspberry crush." My beer was delicious. My wife thought that the crush was sweet but tasty. We then began with the spinach and artichoke dip. When I order food, I prefer it steaming hot (Some restaurants fail to do this.) The dip came out right off the pan and onto our plates. No complaints. My wife ordered the deluxe burger and was completely satisfied. My halibut tacos were amazing. The rice was also delicious. I'm guessing it was rice with lime. Overall I give this place a four star. The reason is because we saw our bartender do something that we didn't agree with. Again. I would come back, but I would go to the restaurant.

Meh. The food was Meh, the service was Meh, the everything was Meh. I stopped in at Stanford's after a long drive from Vancouver, BC and decided to get a decent meal - probably the wrong choice. I had the Southwest inspired salad which was decent, the dressing which was a BBQ vinaigrette was really good, but not enough to save it. The place was dead for a Sunday considering it was in a mall shopping center that had literally no parking left. My server seemed less than thrilled to be there let alone to answer my menu questions. She brought out my meal and was essentially the ghost of my servers past from there on out. My suggestion would be to explore the mall before wasting time/money at Stanford's.

I only upped my rating to two stars because our server was good. The food was definitely not worth the price. The flavor of everything was off and in a way I was wondering if it was somewhat spoiled. We had an appetizer and then each had one of the lunch specialities. The bill was high and we ate very little of anything ordered. Definitely won't be back.

A pretty ok place. Some of their items are pretty good, but everything is incredibly overpriced for what you're getting and it's a huge deterrent for us. If we're going to pay for a nicer quality dinner, we're going to go somewhere else that's just better. They seem to want to be this slightly more upscale place, but they just don't have the quality of food for it. The only time we have ever gone there is when every other place nearby is too packed to get a table. I've never been upset with my food there, but I probably won't go back anytime soon either, if ever. One of the sandwiches I got for lunch one time just had cheap processed meat on it. It was otherwise not bad, but that was a little disappointing. Their pasta sauces are pretty good though. The bar is also incredibly drafty near the north window. Don't know what's up with that. We sat there once but had to move because it was just too much.

Love their signature Stanford's Mac n Cheese! There's bacon & like 3 different cheeses in it. Mmmm mmm good! Prices are a bit higher than your average restaurant, but then again the portions are a lot bigger too. I take my left overs home and they normally last me for 3 meals. They have a good happy hour too. HH is daily 3-6pm and 9-close, on Sundays all day. Happy Hour prices are pretty sweet and portions are just perfect for a single portion. I've always had great experience with very nice and helpful servers. Sometimes service can be slow though.

When they opened first we were glad they did. Having more options around Northgate sounded good. They had very good barbecue burger but do not know why have stopped serving it. My wife liked the salmon burger but they have stopped serving that as well. They are not as good as they have been in the pas. So 3 stars from me.

We wanted to go out nearby real quick for a bite and drinks before heading out for a friday night. Went to Ram initially but it was packed and we didn't want to wait around so we left and headed to Stanford's. We went from one venue overly full at 7 pm to another that was within walking distance that was half full so I'm immediately thinking this is a red flag. My buddy tries to order us a round of cocktails but is unable to because of how lacking they are in supplies. Nothing too exotic, he was asking for drinks that included raspberry tea or ginger beer. As the waitress repeatedly turned down our requests, I'm looking around at the liquor bottles they have showcased and am realizing most of them you could find at a casual college house party... Eventually we settle on a simple rum and coke. I ordered a Chicken Caesar, worst quality salad I have ever gotten in a restaurant and truly inferior to some bag salads I have bought at the grocery store. Lettuce were chopped in dull, highly unappetizing rectangular shapes; lacking in flavor and very plain chicken breast. The bread was decent but the full flavor seemed more just a excess use of cheap cheese and butter. Cost +$16. Good times with great friends that I haven't seen in a while saved this place from being 1 star.

I discovered this restaurant less than a year ago, even though I see it from the freeway every time I pass. I'm usually skeptical of "Mall" restaurants, as they are traditionally big chains. Stanford's has made me want to approach the mall. Every time here has been a great meal. This last time was while my sister was visiting from the Midwest. Her 2 friends met up with us as well. My Shrimp Tacos were exceptional. The accompanying rice couldn't have been a better fit. The rest of my group loved the food as well. Service for a lunch rush was spot on. She was ahead of the game on anticipating our needs and beverage refills. Definitely a professional group. I will keep approaching the mall just for Stanford's.

Their mac&cheese has bacon in it...are you kidding me?? SO good! Fish tacos...I don't even like fish tacos and I loved theirs! The rice they serve it with is yummy too. Drinks were so weak, I got two rum and cokes and they tasted just like coke. My friend got a cocktail which was super sweet and again, weak. I wouldn't come back for the drinks. Food though was great! Service was good, not wow, but good.

Been here a few times for lunch or happy hour and tonight was the first time there for dinner. We decided to go a bit fancy and order the specials and I ended up with the Kobe meatloaf. 75% of the meatloaf was delicious, a bit on the dry side, but tasty nonetheless. Strangely, the last 25% was hard as a rock. Not a huge deal as I wasn't super hungry, but weird enough that I pointed it out to the waitress. I'm happy to report that the manager came to our table to apologize and part of our meal was comped. Overall, this place is decent (though their Caesar salad is not good), the prices are a bit high, and the service is solid provided you sit in the bar. The music choice is a bit strange. Tonight they were pumping Brittany Spears' Toxic...

I started writing a review and realized it was really long. Long story short this place is NOT consistent. Go for happy hour if it's your first time. I wouldn't recommend this place for non-happy hours for your first visit solely because of consistency. For my explanation on why continue reading below. I am 50/50 about this place. Under yelp guidelines it is considered moderate ($11-$30) for pricing. However if you look at the meal overall. Most steak dinners (not counting fancy steak restaurants) that cost 25-30 dollars come with a salad at least. But I come back to this place. The happy hour is great. If this is your first time coming here. I'd recommend coming for happy hour first. I've had multiple good experiences, but I've also had multiple bad experiences. So it leaves me 50/50. Once half a year to a year ago or so, we've sat down for 45-60 minutes waiting for our food to come after we ordered. They weren't super busy. And the waitress, waiters and even manager came over to ask if we needed anything else and asked if were ready for the check yet. OUR FOOD HAVEN"T EVEN COME YET!!!! And each time we told them our food hasn't come yet all they can say is i'm sorry we will check on it. Five minutes later, ask us the same dang question if we were ready for our check yet. I ordered a prime rib. I've had prime rib countless of time. I know what prime rib looks like. They served me a tiny dry piece of sirloin. The manager was ridiculously frustrating to talk to. He was not helpful and irritating because he made it seem like it was our fault when all we did was sit down and order. We didn't even yell or complain to the staff. Then I've had an experience where our food was served timely and tasted amazing. The prime rib and salmon was cooked perfectly. The portion size was amazingly big. The dessert was lacking a bit but it was ok cause the prime rib and salmon was amazing. I order the same thing every time I come. Prime rib and salmon combo. And each time it looks or tastes different. The raspberry crush alcoholic drink is really tasty and has a good amount of alcohol in it. The grilled portobello mushroom is really good as well. It's not on the regular menu but you can still order it its just 3-5 dollars more expensive. It's on the happy hour menu.

It's hard to identify the worst part to this meal because it was a terrible from beginning to end. I recently went here to get dinner with my girlfriend and and was very disappointed with the service and the food. After being seated for 20 minutes we started getting asked by the busser and hostess if we have been helped yet and when we said no they would leave and come back asking the same question. 30 minutes after sitting down we finally saw the young lady (our waitress) to take our drink order. We immediately ordered our food out of fear that we would not get it within the hour and half we had left before our movie. One hour after sitting down I started sucking on the ice in my empty glass of water because the water that once filled it had been empty for over 20 minutes. Every table started to look at there watch wonder why we have not seen out waitress at all. The only helpful people was the busser and hostess that were trying to do damage control for the person serving us. One hour and 10 minutes we saw the meal we ordered hoping it would redeem the lack of customer service. I ordered a steak medium and my date ordered a salmon medium as well. My steak came out Well and my date's came out well also. It may have been cooked to perfection l, but continued to cook itself on the plate while it waited for our server to deliver it us. We were very pleased however with the speed our waitress took with getting my bill and taking my money. If she showed that same commitment with service we would go back a lot more. My recommendation, if you go to Stanfords grab a good book or download a movie to your smart device because you will be there for a while.

We went to Stanford's to welcome our new hire. We had made a reservation and were seated right away. They quickly brought over our app, the walnut crusted brie. It was so good we couldn't stop eating it. The prime rib dip is what I ordered. So flavorful and tender. Sweet potato fries.....crisp and a perfect blend of sweet and salty. Their chef had prepared a Turkey curry soup that was to die for. Thanks Big Red!! We'll be back. And our new hire.....well he's going back this weekend. Nice job Stanford's crew!

Pretty reliable place to go for lunch or dinner up near Northgate mall. Better than a lot of the options in the mall, that's for sure. The one really great thing I've had from here is the mac-n-cheese that also has bacon sprinkled on top. Otherwise what I've had (pork tacos, burger) was nothing out of the ordinary. It's generally pretty quiet and service has always been fine, it's just a little more than I'd expect to pay given that it's not much different than most other chain restaurants.

If you are in a hurry, this is not your best choice. Food is still so-so. There are not too many nicer restaurant in the Northgate area. Please step it up for everyone sake. I like the location, deco and service but the food is just very average and boring. However, I like grab a bottle or a glass after work here.

A ton of variety and great desserts! Also on the night we visited they were offering 50% off bottles of wine so everything probably tasted better than it was, but I had a good time and the service was right on. I especially liked the "American" kobe burger with the aoli spread on the brioche. The fries are fresh but kind of uninspired. Their salads are huge, the fajitas are great, and the wine options make everything better. This place probably is a little expensive but they compensate for that with a great HH. Be sure to check that out too before you decide on the value.

I have dined here dozens of times. Decor is very nice, and service has always been excellent. The food, at least 90% of the time, has been superb. Last night I ordered the "3 courses for $30" special, and my first-course appetizer was HUGE (baked Brie, enough for 4 people). I nearly always order the Spare Ribs, which are some of the best I've ever eaten.

The manager here rocks! We normally shy away from chain restaurants but have enjoyed coming here a half dozen times in just the past few months. "Big Red", as he's known, has the kitchen running smoothly while ensuring every guest feels welcome and important. Meals come quickly and prepared to perfection... we haven't had a meal yet that we didn't love. The staff is also incredibly friendly and accommodating. You ask for it, you got it and with a smile. Between the great food food, the fab service and a manager that our three year old has proclaimed her "bestest friend", Stanford's is quickly becoming part of the regular rotation for our family. Tip: Costco sells $100 gift card for $80 and there is half priced wine on Wednesdays - enjoy!

I was here for a business meeting and got the grilled salmon Caesar salad. It was suppose to be the entree salad but it was the same size as my colleagues side salad. However it was tasty and I got the salmon medium rare so it was perfect. Service was good. I would have given 5 stars if I had bigger portion of salad and salmon.

If you like enjoy having a good burger this is not the place for you. The bacon in the burger was like chewing electric tape, the bun was awful (no toasted). Poor service, the guy never came to fill our water glasses (I had to ask) on top of all the added 6 dollars for gratuity, my tab ended up being 25 bucks for one lousy burger with no drinks!

We had a fabulous dining experience here! I ordered the fish tacos and they were fabulous. Our waiter was very attentive and we weren't without anything. Thank you, we will be back!

The fish tacos are delicious. The white rice on the side tasted like instant-boxed rice. Went there for lunch. Thankfully, it was a work lunch because it was $80 for 3 people which is pretty steep for lunch. Definitely an upper class, older crowd. I will return but probably get a less expensive meal.

I returned to Stanford's to try them out again. I mentioned before the gift card which helped. This time they had the full menu available, but when I got down to counting it I found three vegetarian options on the menu side salads, one pizza, and a veggie burger. This really just seemed lopsided in a place like Seattle. I do eat white fish so ended up ordering halibut and chips which was just alright. The fries were amazing. If grease did not upset my stomach I would have eaten them all night long! The halibut was just ok. My partner said the spinach artichoke dip appetizer he had was really amazing. The only thing I had which I found amazing was the Huckleberry Rain Drop. Not only was my drink strong it was delicious. You could definitely taste the mix of huckleberry and slightly bitter liquor. I truly enjoyed it. Our pecan pie dessert was also very good. Unfortunately I think I would only return for dessert and drinks. Also on another note our service on the return was more than fantastic. Our server was attentive, polite, and helpful. He really made the meal. It was also the first time I we ordered an entrée to share and the restaurant split the food in the kitchen before bringing it out to us. Usually they just give us a second plate and we do it ourselves. I truly wish this gentleman had been our original server. I hold with my original review though NOT VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY. I just want to assert this point.

Stanford's has really great food and excellent service. I often go there on Sunday evenings to work on my laptop. Courtney is usually my server. She remembers my name and my preferences and gives great service with a smile. Stanford's recently updated their Happy Hour menu and made it even better. Some of my favorites are the pork tacos, ribs and ring and the new prime rib sliders (watch our for the horse radish spread though because it's really strong). Sunday is Happy Hour all day!

Stanford was another place I used to hit up during happy hour when I was a college student. I recently had the opportunity to eat here with a friend and it wasn't as great as I remembered it to be. The menu composes of typical items you can find at other happy hour joints. They still had some of my favorites, which were their mac n cheese and burgers. Both were good but after being exposed to Yelp for the last few years, there are other places that serve these items even better at around the same price range. Other items I tried were their pulled pork tacos, chicken wings and Caesar salad. Its a good dining option after shopping at Northgate Mall or if you're dining with people that hate parking in the downtown/capitol hill/belltown areas.

All day happy hour on Sundays. $5 Widmer Hefs, $5 wine, and a great assortment of cheap eats. Chicken quesadillas were toasty and filled with tons of goodness; pork sliders with pickled vegetables were good if you didn't look at them - the pork kind of had a dogfood pasty look about it; spinach artichoke dip is always good, piping hot and come with thin, crispy, tortilla chips; chili cheese fries were pretty good and the fries on their own were tasty. Not quite a fan of the bacon potato cakes - they were more like a panko coated croquette than the potato cake I was expecting. The ribs and onion ring was a bargain at $5. 4 people, 2 glasses of wine, 5 beers and all that food = $68. Our server was great and checked in quite a few times.

I can only speak in regards to one dish that I ordered here for lunch so maybe they have better options. All I can say is stay away from the Southwest Chicken Chopped Salad. It is basically a pile of greens with barely any toppings. The bits and pieces of black beans and cheese are okay but they are so hard to find because there are so few. Also, the chicken was way overcooked and had too much char on it so that just ruined the taste.

Hits and misses! My wife and I recently had dinner and had high expectations as we entered a nice looking restaurant and were warmly greeted by our server. We quickly were enjoying two very good cocktails and then were disappointed to learn that this place did not offer bread like their sister restaurant in Shoreline does. My wife enjoyed her smoked chicken linguini as I could not eat the buttermilk fried chicken that was way too spicy (and I like spice!) and fried too long. I've enjoyed this dinner at the other restaurant and Stanford's "version" was terrible!

I just had my second dinner here. I must say all dishes have been good. The blue cheese filet, prime rib dip, chicken strips are amazing. So many things on the menu I want to try. Like the mac and cheese. They also have a cool rewards card that seems easy to earn free meals with.

Happy hour is great! Like Yum! Food: The ribs are the best I've ever experienced, happy hour and otherwise. They fall off the bone at the lightest push or bite and the single onion ring that comes with the whole thing (during happy hour) is pretty clever. Spinach artichoke dip was incredibly tasty too. I took a star off for the not-so-fantastic sliders and the kind of dull mac'n'cheese. If there's bacon involved, how hard is it to make flavor? Service: fast, friendly and expert. These people know how to stack plates, bowls, glasses and ramekins up their arms that seem to extend across the room. They also split the bill, no questions asked exactly how we requested. Drinks: The tea drinks are sweet but really tasty. I'd pace myself if I were you unless you want to be me, stumbling to the bus stop (which is conveniently close) because I/you didn't realize just how much was in each of those teas until you/I stood up.

I haven't been to Stanford's in a while and at a different location and for Happy Hour only. My gf and I were headed to 5th Ave for a 1:30 show and decided to come right at opening (11am) and grab a bite beforehand. I thought we would be one of the first (if only people) but apparently we were not. We were #2. There seemed to be just one waitress who worked the entire place. We placed our food orders and it seemed to take quite a while (about 20-25 mins). Seemed a bit long considering the restaurant was empty. Our food finally came and my fries tasted as if they were yesterday's. There was plenty to go around but also so hard & cold. Our sodas were refilled although not in the timeliest of manners. I don't know if I'd be back. I'm all for HH but can't say service would be worth the cheap prices.

I have nothing to complain about this place. I came in for happy hour and the service was amazing, the food was amazing and the drinks were amazing! Those cheese curds are AWESOME! And the apple crisp with the bourbon caramel sauce?? Unreal. Big Red is the manager and he came by the table to introduce himself and made our whole party laugh - that guy is a riot and I would come back just to be entertained by him! This place was a surprise for me, I had no idea it was so good and will definitely be back.

Good Local Bar in Mom's Hood SITREP Often when hanging out and crashing at my mom's place in the Northgate area, it's nice to go out, stretch my legs, and meet up with some of the local buddies in the hood, and Stanford's has become a very amenable place to just hanging out, having a drink and watching a local game or award show of note. SETUP The drinks are cheap - try a rum & coke for $3 - and the bartenders are highly entertaining if not knowledgable about all things to do with soccer or cricket! ;^D THE MENU They have a respectable menu that includes burgers (which after eating dinner with little old women portions at 4:30pm (for the proverbial blue light special at the retirement home cafeteria), I REALLY can appreciate a great cheeseburger and fries by 9:30-10pm! THE LOWDOWN A great place to escape for a drink in Northgate!

Had the pleasure of eating here on Thanksgiving day before heading out of Sea Tac. I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf. Yes, you read that correctly... BACON WRAPPED MEATLOAF. The staff have always been excellent, but you can tell hey don't like working for the company. I've gotten food poisoning from them twice. Happy hour is the only way to go. Regular menu is NOT worth the $. Very disappointing mediocre food

Terrible service. Every table around us got their food before us, but we were here before all of them. Never offered a refill or asked how the food was. Didn't even give us a water for our child. I would never go back. The chicken was a tiny little portion and was $14. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the fish sandwich was really good!

This is a review about something from their happy hour menu ^^ I've gone here a couple times and each time ordered the burger. Great price! First time it was a little too juicy and got a little messy eating it but the 2nd time, it was perfect. You get fries and it's a good portion with not too much salt. The quality of service definitely varies but it hasn't been too bad.

Fantastic Happy Hour menu! I love it when there's lots of vegetarian options and salads on a happy hour menu. Very afforable yummy options. I've been there several times for happy hours, but never dined there during the lunch or dinner hours. I believe the regular menu is a bit overpriced, but the happy hour is completely worth checking out.

Loved the happy hour prices. The mac and cheese is really good, but you'll want to get the full size! Our server, Andrea, was really sweet, and kept up with the hole in my drink. :) Love that they have Newcastle, wish it was on tap. The bar area is nice and cozy. No complaints here, I'll be back for sure.

Right off, the service was sllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooowwwwwwww. We were seated and given menus, but we could have been in the Sahara for 10 minutes. We were lonely! When we finally met our server, he was polite but cocked his head a lot while he talked. It was distracting and I couldn't focus on what he was blathering on about the Friday special, blah blah blah. The BF was starving, so he ordered the pulled-pork sliders. They arrived super fast. They were OK; not outstanding. I could have made them myself in my slow-cooker and for $3 a pop that's ridiculous. After some more time in the Sahara (maybe he thought we wanted to talk?), our orders were taken. Some other server brought my salad and the boy's chowder. Be warned, their "cup" is a "cereal bowl" and they have love for the "fishy" soups. The salad I had was mediocre. Just your average house salad with some store-bought balsamic vinegrette. After we finished our appetizer and soup/salad courses, our server brought us 4 slices of the driest sourdough I have ever known. Why did he bring it AFTER we finished? Please ask him if you feel like going. It made no sense to me. Our entrees were brought shortly after; the Macaroni and Cheese with bacon for the boy and Bacon-wrapped Meatloaf for me. The mac and cheese is definitely worth trying. The meatloaf was a MASSIVE portion, but a bit dry and the bf felt like it had a weird flavor. The mashed red-potatoes were great and the roasted veggies served with the meal were satisfactory. How much would you have expected to pay for a meal of this mediocrity? I personally would have said $30-40 for both of us, including drinks, appetizer and tip. Suffice it to say, it was more expensive. I recommend going with coupons/gift certs. And only bother to tip the base amount.

I went in for happy hour and ordered a couple drinks and get this.. the waitstaff gave us our 14 dollar bill for two well whiskeys and told us "alcohol isn't on the night time happy hour" ... really.... I mean.... really.... after I had asked her prior to ordering if they were on happy hour... and then we preceded to only order booze. Happy Hour... f@cking unhappy hour....

I like Standfords once in a great while but not to much on days when I don't feel like cooking because a little to expensive for me. I consider this Restaurant as a Valentine'sday,Birthday,Aniversery and all other special occassions. I went there for my Aunt's Birthday who turned 61 years old and all my family members there too. My favorite dish is the macaroni and cheese, salmon and steak there. I would consider having gift card to this restaurant then out of my pocket money because too much money for a little bit. Very good food very good service and the restroom not so dumpy either. Heidi

I've eaten here for dinner three or four times, and come for the happy hour more times than I can count. I'm sad to see that it has such a low rating on Yelp! as I'm writing this, because I've never been anything short of impressed. It feels classy but not arrogant, the prices are on the high side, but I get great coupons in the mail, the food is always spectacular (and I really mean it), and the service, as far as I've experienced, has always been great. I think my worst experience with a server there, if I've had one, would have to be during a busy happy hour, to which I cannot put any blame on them

So this is the deal with Stanford's, If you're looking for an inexpensive Happy Hour, this is the place to go. I've been to their happy hour at least 5 or 6 times. The happy hour burger comes with fries and is dirt cheap. The bun is definitely fatter than the burger, but for the price you can't complain. The Southwest chopped salad is dressed in a creamy pesto, laced with corn, black beans, pepper jack, and then topped with crispy corn tortilla strips. I usually order it every time. The seafood cakes are surprisingly tasty. Salmon is the predominant player in these cakes, with ribbons of aioli streamed across the top. Basically, you really can't go wrong for the price. Plus the bar area is beautiful, and we've always had great service. Now, for the regular dining area, well that's another story. Both times I've eaten there for dinner, service was sucky and sloooow. The one time I got the veggie burger. It came with grilled veggies, avocado, and melted Gouda. For $11.00 it's not a bad gig. The second time I went, I can't even recall what I ordered, however I do remember my boyfriend ordered the pork tenderloin with a cherry demi glace. Now that my friends is an overpriced piece of ripoff. A whole pork tenderloin to feed 3 people can be purchased for less than 5 bucks. I don't remember how much that sucker cost, but I remember it was way overdone, overpriced, and the demi glace tasted like someone threw some cherries into a brown gravy packet mix. It was quite disgusting. I was especially appalled because pork tenderloin is one of my favorite things to make, and one of the easiest. At any rate, I don't ever see myself going there again for a dining experience. Maybe for lunch, but there's so many better places in the area to give your hard earned money to. Happy hour on the other hand, is always open to possibility.

I've only been here for Happy Hour, but come back often because the location is easy and the service is always good. Things I like: cocktails (the bartenders know what they're doing), booths are comfy and spacious, friendly wait staff, and I can almost always get a good table if I arrive by 5pm. I only give three stars because the food is typical American bar food, nothing fancy and nothing to rave about. It's an extensive menu with fair pricing, and they do a decent job with chicken strips and fries.

I took some business associates to lunch here and was very underwhelmed. We arrived at 11:45 and it took about 5 minutes for someone to even come to the front. The waitress was average, the food was average. Everything took a long time for a lunchtime crowd that only filled a third of the restaurant. For the money, I'd suggest you go somewhere else.

My fiancee and I wanted to try something new but didn't want to travel outside the Northgate area so this seemed like a good option as it is right outside the Mall. We arrived and had about a 10 minute waiting time which is not bad for a Friday night, but in retrospect now we know why! We were seated opposite the open kitchen so it was loud and the wait staff was constantly running by our table with loud stacks of dishes. On our way to our table we saw numerous empty tables that needed to be bussed, a good indication that they were short staffed and there was food on the floor everywhere. Once we were seated we received our drinks very quickly however we had about 4 different servers throughout the night and we never knew who the next person coming by would be. We ordered our food and received it pretty quickly but it was not memorable, for the prices (average of 20 dollars a plate) we thought the food should be much better. Against our better judgment we ordered the pecan pie to share and again, given the price we expected generous portions and some presentation but when we saw it, the pie looked like they bought a Safeway pie, microwaved it and put a scoop of cheap vanilla ice cream on top, again mediocre and a disappointment! On top of it all we had to listen to a domestic dispute during the last half of our meal from the family seated next to us. They were loud, rude and I imagine the staff wanted to see them go too, but no apologies were made. As we were paying for our check my fiancee got super sick and he was already sick from their greasy food before we left the restaurant! Overall, this is a forgettable restaurant, the ambiance is mediocre and corporate and the food and service is bland. I would not recommend this place if you want a unique dining experience.

I would say this place is hit or miss with the food & the service, if it's really busy I wouldn't suggest going, only when it's slow! To my knowledge the busiest nights are the worst nights to go to dinner if you are expecting good food especially from any chain. They have a pretty good happy hour, which is usually when we try to go. It should be a little cheaper but that's just like anywhere! Def go for happy hour close to closing time, it's loud & dark if you like that sort of atmosphere.

They have an awesome happy hour (7 days a week!). The portions are a good size for the price and there are a lot of yummy items to choose from. We've always had great service and great food at Stanford's.

This is solely based on the Happy Hour... I love coming here for Happy Hour because it's rarely busy and the Mac&Cheese is excellent! The calamari is mediocre same with their pork sliders.... But it's worth coming here just for their mac&cheese. The service was good every time I've been in so I can't complain. However, I've seen their menu and it isn't that great. Definitely a must try for the mac & cheese.

There are a lot of cheap, procrastinating individuals in Seattle. How do I know? Well, I'm one of them. Case in point: A few weeks ago, Sissy, Sissy's boyfriend, and I were talking about where to go for dinner. Sissy got a lightbulb look on her face and went and dredged up some $15 coupon we'd gotten from Stanford's a while back. Perfect timing! It happened to be expiring that day. So we went. (Sissy's boyfriend, incidentally, had some other gift certificates to there that he'd had for at LEAST 2 years, which didn't have any expiration date--he procrastinates, too!) So we drove on down to Northgate and spent fifteen minutes trying to park in the garm of a lot, commenting all the while, 'Oh, I'm sure all these people are going to Stanford's for dinner!' Turns out we were right. We spent some time nursing beers in the bar, then finally got seated (in a very secluded section all by ourselves because they were cramming more tables onto the servers' shoulders). Then we kept overhearing the waitresses talking to their tables about how it was slammed because everyone was coming in to use these gift certificates that had been mailed out ages ago and were expiring that day. (*Gulp* That's us--Procrastinators!) Anyway, yadda yadda, the food was meh and a little over priced. I had the grilled veggie sandwich, which was really vinegar-y for some reason, and Sissy didn't like her veggie-burger. Sissy's boyfriend did have some awesome beef ribs with mashed potatoes that he kindly shared with us. And we got out of there for like $10 apiece, due to all the discounts. (That's us--Cheap!) I might go back here, just because it looked like they had an excellent happy hour menu and I'm all about cheap HH's. But I'll probably also put it off for a while.

After reading all of the previous reviews, i hate to repeat what has already been written..but COME ON.... we walked in here with high hope, as our experience with the southcenter happy hour (years ago) was great. however, the service was crazy SLOW..i have never waited so long as i did last night. not only that the food was so mediocre. I cannot believe we spent 70 bux on a late lunch and walked out totally pissed and to make matters worse i had inquired as to what ever happened to the good ol' dollar happy hour menu in the bar? and the ahi tuna app? gone the way of the dodo bird, my friend...that's right see ya to your favs (if you even had any) Stanfords just got bought out..and they are changing most of the menu items..maybe this will be a good thing..but i'm not going to find out first hand..i will wait for more reviewees to gimme the 411

One star is for the dark, mysterious ambience. If you could smoke in here it'd be perfect and I wouldn't care what the food was like. One-half star is for the AMAZING women's bathroom with hairspray, lotion, tissue, QTips, personal products, you name it. I love that shit. The final half-star is for the giant table full of gorgeous policemen who were having dinner about 20 feet away from my friend and I. The food gets no stars. Grody onion rings! Way too big, not cooked enough (mmmm, raw batter), crunchy raw-ish onions. Seasoning in said batter just NOT RIGHT. Chicken caeser salad was just okay. Weird, hard croutony things. The iced tea was okay. The server was alright. I would have sent the onion rings back but I was with someone else with no palate and she choked down a few. I felt I'd be a bitch to draw attention to them. I think the bar looked dark and sexy, the perfect place for a clandestine meeting. However, as a gen-X age married chick, I probably will never find out if that's true. All you happening young stuff, let me know if it's really as great as it looks. Just don't get the onion rings. Not even if they're big enough to fit over your thing. It wouldn't be right.

So last night my lady and I went here for some late night happy hour eats. Been here before and it wasn't that bad, but last night... ok, First was the huge dead fly in our ice water. Not a fruit fly but a DEAD BUG! Gross. Check your ice bin lately? Then our knives looked liked they came out of the dirty dishes. And i could over hear our waiter say, "tonights secret word is, Whatever." Ya know, I actually work in the food service industry as a Bartender and pride myself in the quality and service I give. And last nights experience made me sad. Not to mention the trash and food on the floor, the bar full of dirty glasses, and the lack of compassion for what the employees were doing. Won't be going back here again and i won't be surprised when the health board shuts this place down.

I REALLY wanted to LOVE this place. It's close to my work and I would have liked to be able to come in for a quick bite on my lunch break or drinks after work. Unfortunately, there are several reasons I dislike this restaurant. Let's start with the hostesses. They are incredibly rude, snobby and have always made me feel unwelcome. The food is either overly salty or just plain mediocre. One evening I thought I would grab a drink during happy hour. This $12 drink was tasty but there was hardly any alcohol in it.. It's been a very disappointing experience nearly every time I have dined here and at this point I am certain I will not ever return.

The food took rather long to come out during the lunch but the ambiance and atmosphere was cozy & inviting. My friend had a pasta dish that was rich & creamy as the portions were huge. I had the soup& salad lunch combo. The tomato soup was creamy & rich and the salad was fresh & tangy. Not bad, I'd love to go here again & try their other dishes as well as some HH! =)

Eh.... I didn't have super high expectations when my friend told me that this place was basically something like a Ruby Tuesday's. Decided to come here with my cousins since it was the most conveniently available, as I had just had Macaroni Grill the other day. It seemed awfully expensive for what you're ordering though... more so than Ruby Tuesday's. If I were to make a comparison... I don't know that I'd have one readily available, but maybe more like McCormick and Schmick's more than Ruby Tuesday's. Ambiance is nice, and my cousin told me that the Happy Hour is pretty good, except, we weren't there at Happy Hour, and my younger cousin isn't 21 yet. Anyways, I ended up ordering a seared rockfish with a salsa and lemon butter sauce served over a bed of pilaf/rice. The fish was prepared well, not overcooked, retaining moistness. However, I don't really think it was seasoned exceptionally, I liked the sauce, which ended up being more in the rice than on the fish, and the salsa was just very heavy in tomato and cilantro, like a pico de gallo, which I like, but wasn't what I was expecting. My younger cousin, who eats very little got the cajun fettuccine, which she said was remarkably spicy, so she couldn't eat very much of it. I tried a little bit of it, and I could definitely see how that might be the case. Certainly overkill on the hot sauce/crushed red peppers, it was somewhat overwhelming, so you couldn't really taste anything else, and I eat pretty spicy. Anyways, all in all, it wasn't anything phenomenal, in fact, I think I'd rather have gone to Ruby Tuesday's, if there was one around.

This restaurant has pretty decent happy hour selections. 5 dishes only cost 23 dollars. The food is not a tasty as the sister restaurant (palomino). There is only bacon dust on the macaroni and cheese with bacon. I am not sure if it is suppose to serve that way. The first waiter told us that its macaroni and cheese without bacon. Our waiter told us there is bacon and serve it to us again. OUR WAITER SUCKS.

I popped into the bar for lunch on a Saturday. Service was wonderful, price-points were average, and the shrimp skewers were outstanding!! This dish is done with grilled shrimp on a skewer and small piece of steak all presented on an asparagus salad. The crap & artichoke sandwich paled by comparison. I'd definitely return if ever in the area again.

One of my favorite places to go for happy hour, not because of the food or drinks, but because of the consistent good service. The waiters are fast to get to you (at the bar that is...not sure about the regular dining room) and fast to bring your order to the table. I usually would order the pear cider (starts with the W...can't remember) but they stopped serving those...WHY?! Their happy hour menu also changes every few months it seems and it's still filling if you're just looking for something cheap and quick. I would suggest mixing it up and ordering 3-4 items off of the menu and sharing with your friends. They also have large tv screens which are usually showing some sports game. What else? The seats are cozy and the bar is dimly lit. It's not hard to find a table but be aware that on the weekends it can tend to get a bit crowded.

We spent a pretty penny at this place but did not regret it! I have been craving their lavender cosmopolitan ever since I left!!! I had the pork chop which was not as tender as expected but tasted so wonderful...I could smell and taste the just off the grill woody taste mmmmm. same goes for the asparagus. My husband had the halibut tacos and he was very pleased. My favorite part of the meal was the calamari appetizer. My first time having calamari and I was diggin it!!! So tasty! Cannot wait to go back for our anniversary (: The place had super amazing customer service. They gave our kids cheese bread that was to die for before their meal and complimentary icecream for afterwards! This place is a parents island paradise!!! Very relaxed atmosphere! Solid 5 star review here.

Stanford's is a reasonably priced option for when the in-laws are in town, but the food keeps me from giving it 4 stars. Service was friendly and prompt (although this was my second trip -- my first one, I walked out after waiting in the lobby area for 10 minutes while being ignored by everyone). Drinks came right away, and we didn't have to wait excessively for our salads or entrees. The surf & turf appetizer with lemon beurre blanc was a pleasant surprise. House salad was a little underwhelming - the homemade Bleu cheese dressing would have been more enjoyable on some fresher greens. Garlic mashed potatoes were a little on the thick side but well-flavored. The steak, on the other hand, was just bad. I ordered it medium after the waiter advised me that medium rare was "pretty darn rare.". The steak was pounded out to less that 1/2" thickness and had the texture of shoe leather. It was like chewing an wool coat. It was almost inedible. Service and ambiance keeps it a 3 stars (barely), mostly based on the possibility that the sandwiches might be tolerable - some actually looked promising. But if you're looking for red meat, keep looking.

I have no idea what their regular menu looks like. All I know is that this is probably the best happy hour ever. Everything on the happy hour menu is good and I've never said that about any restaurant. Most items are priced around $5. When your in the Northgate area in between the hours of 3-5 & 9-close(midnight, i believe) make sure you stop by. They also have half price bottles of wine on Wednesday.

People who claim this place is good for happy hour are just desperate for a place to be in North Seattle. The prices are terrible, the drinks are obnoxiously expensive ($5.50 for a beer? $9 for a long island?! I can get cheaper happy hour drinks in Hollywood, thanks). The one thing the Stanford's bar had going for it was atmosphere - until it became so wildly popular that the bar is now perpetually stuffed, making the noise level obnoxious and the service painfully slow. In a couple years, when the area's a bit better developed, Stanford's might be worth revisiting as competition and fading newness thin out the crowds and lower prices.

Tagged along with friends for Happy Hour. Service-wise, I found our waitress nice and accomodating... and I rather liked the Happy Hour prices on their appetizers, which all looked pretty decent. The artichoke dip was pretty good (as it should). If the artichoke dip was anything less than decent in any restaurant, it would be a very, VERY sad day. A friend ordered the Hawaiian Passion, but we were informed later that they had run out of Passion Fruit (Already? Happy Hour had just started). The bar area reminded me a bit of Cheers, but, darker - by multiple levels. It's a good thing that we were there for Happy Hour. I would have been disappointed to order a nice dinner in this fancy-looking place, expecting good presentation, but not be able to appreciate the aesthetics. The TVs are usually tuned in to sports, although somebody in the bar must have liked Desperate Housewives, because that was on for probably the full episode above the bar. Overall: Yay, service! And, yay, Happy Hour appetizers!

Stanfords is... mehokay. Pluses: Happy hour, the rice soup, Tazo hot tea selection, portions. Minuses: a great selection of SALAD for vegetarians, it's really dark in there. I dunno. This place is just kind of too American Psycho for me. It serves good food - more of an evening place. It's incredibly convenient to have in Northgate. I just wasn't really that gaga for it. It's average. It's in a mall parking lot... I mean...

I believe in the philosophy that you never get a second chance to make a first impression. My first impression of Stanford's? Hose water. Seriously, the ice water tasted like it came straight from a stinky garden hose. My husband and I speculated this was probably because the water was filtered through brand new plastic pipes, as Stanford's was recently built from the ground up. But still, it was hard to get past that awful taste, and even so, the food and service was not much better. I had the cedar plank salmon, which was pasty, slimy and undercooked. It was accompanied by a baked potato that was undercooked as well and, no joke, featured four shreds of cheddar cheese. A messy smattering of parsley haphazardly decorated the plate, like a hasty afterthought. It was an atrocity. My husband ordered one of the cheaper steaks on the menu - seriously? $37 for filet mignon? - and was also quite disappointed. Stanford's broke the cardinal rule of steak-cooking by slicing it for him and then dousing it in institutionalized demi glace that more closely resembled barbecue sauce. His twice-baked potato was overcooked, probably because the kitchen recycles the undercooked baked potatoes from the day before, which in theory is a good idea, but only if done well. This was an obvious kitchen shortcut spotted by my former chef husband. There seemed to be an influx of young servers and bussers, as is common when a restaurant first opens. Currently, Stanford's is operating under what I call the "Darwin method." Soon enough, the weaker servers will be weeded out, and only the strong will survive. Unfortunately, we got one of the less-than-stellar newbies, as she nearly had a panic attack when we asked what beers they had on tap. In any case, we won't be back to see if things improve. I really didn't enjoy spending more than $80 for hose water and ill-tasting food.

I've been here several times--mostly for dinner. Let me start by saying, yes, Stanford's is a chain restaurant, but beyond that, it's quite good. We've always enjoyed very good service and the food is very tasty and portions are generous. The other night, I had the halibut tacos and when I asked the waiter how the halibut was prepared, he answered that it was fried, but it could be grilled if I wanted. It seems like a small thing, but I liked that he answered the question (about grilling) before I even had to ask. I read another review about how the place must be short-handed because the manager seems to be helping...I actually see that as a good sign. Nothing annoys me more than to see restaurant managers standing around when their staff is running around like chickens without heads. Price-wise, be prepared to easily spend about $30 per person (without alcohol) if people order a dinner and salad or soup.

Went for dinner knowing that I had a $15 coupon, but probably wouldn't have gone otherwise. Ordered the Gardenburger with veggies, avocado & gouda and the 'Shroom burger with carmelized onions, mushrooms, and swiss. Both were HUGE and came with salads and were 12 bucks. They were okay - piled with stuff... and good... but not amazing. (Not 12 bucks amazing, that's for sure.) However, ordered the deep fried candy bar sundae for dessert (it's a Snicker's bar) and that was a wild experience!! Holy Yum! I think I'd go there just for dessert and coffee or for Happy Hour (which everyone is right, it's awesome), and pass on the dinner.

We were in the neighborhood and thought "Hey! Hungry... happy hour... happy hour dinner!" So we saw this place and at first we weren't even sure this was a restaurant -- from the outside it just looks like a big nondescript building in the middle of a mall parking lot. It could've been a retro-70s doctors office building for all we could tell. Sure, there's a sign on the building that says "Stanford's" but if you don't know what that is it doesn't help you much. Cut to the chase -- large bar, bad music, generic but palatable apps, friendly service from super-young kids (jeez, I'm not *that* old yet). The kind of place my mom would've gone to in the 80s. Whadya want, it's a mall restaurant.

My fiance and I recently went here for dinner and really enjoyed the food. She had a chicken sandwich which was really good and I had the top sirloin which was cooked to perfection and very good as well. Everything on the menu looked really good and the happy hour looked even better. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was the service. Not explaining everything, we basically felt ignored by the server, he was not friendly, and didn't get the order right. We did notice a ton of old people there too, which seems kind of funny. I think it is because Stanford's has good, hearty food that you get what you pay for. My parents are in their 60's so I think old people don't like the 'fufu' food in the city that you pay an arm and a leg for.

Stanford's is the first of a big group of restaurants going into the currently-being-remodeled Northgate Mall; just opened a week or so ago at the time of this review. I've been to the Stanford's down in Southcenter and liked their happy hour, so we hit up this Stanford's on opening night for the same deal. Impressions: -Staff is still very hover-y and attentive, and often it's a little overkill (in the bar, we had about 8 different girls come by). This is ok because it's so new, but hopefully they'll back off a bit once time goes on. :) -The bar is much bigger than the one in Southcenter -- a definite plus -Food is still decent. I admittedly have never eaten dinner at Stanford's, but the happy hour menu is fine. I've eaten the twice baked potato which is decent (and huge), the happy hour caesar is a good size and is also decent. I'm definitely not a fan of the artichoke dip though, which tastes like velveeta with spinach in it (barely any artichoke flavor). -No drink specials for happy hour, which kind of sucks. -Prices on the normal menu are pretty steep for what appears to be somewhat average quality food (20+ for a fish entree, etc) but I'd have to try it to tell for sure. In general, if you haven't been to Stanford's, think of is like a nicer version of Red Robin (or a Black Angus-y sort of deal). Interior is gorgeous, fairly dark but warm wood colors and such. Menu is more like a seafood house than steakhouse, but there's a variety of salads, burgers, sides, fish dishes, etc. So, in summary, Stanford's will be a great new place to go to for happy hour that's within walking distance for me. Try out happy hour before committing to the full deal.

Hit up Stanford's for HH or come sit on the new patio in the sun if trapped in Northgate or on your way back from suburbia or the wilderness that is north of Seattle and need fuel asap. First experience was at a happy hour were a co-worker and I dragged tall chairs from the bar over to a table in the bar area- totally blocking the walk way to the kitchen... and they didn't complain! Found out that they had randoms like southwestern chopped salad, pea salad, sloppy joe sliders, burgers, mac and cheese, etc. on their 2, 3, $4 HH menu. The HH menu runs two times a day. Told me that I would have come back when I was allowed to eat resulting in snickers. Second experience went with a co-worker(again) for lunch on a hotty hot day. Opted to stay inside after we were finally noticed and seating in the empty restaurant. We had a fabulous server who was friendly and picked up on my co-workers side note a brought out our two orders perfectly split and portioned for each of us (a total of 4 plates). This was really above and beyond since we only ordered a 'sroom burger and mac and cheese. Basically she was great and made me smile. The food is fine- Think The Ram or Red Robin offerings and prices with a southwestern twist and a few extra flavor components. I do know of people thought are addicted to the white sauce bacon mac and cheese and the creme brulee- but that happens when you work 10 feet away and your other choices are all attached to the mall! UPDATE: Happy Hours $3 Burgers are yummy! and come with fries! So is the mac and cheese, grilled chicken ceasar salad (I am told it is on the anchovie side), and shrimp and bacon deviled eggs... Just thought people would want to know... Did I mention $3 freakin' dollars and TVs to stare at in the lounge?

I've been there a few times already since it opened and I'm always sitting in the bar at happy hour. Maybe I should see someone about this. Anyway..... it is a nice addition to the Northgate Mall. The drinks are good and I've had a few of the apps. They are all the standard fare of calamari, crabcakes and the like. Nothing extra special or fancy. So far, I can say it's been consistently good. I think the restaurant is still working it's kinks out.

This place is alright. It is ridiculously priced for food that is mediocre, really. I guess the attempts of trying to "spruce up" an old Northgate Mall are half fulfilled here, as Stanford's setting is nicely lit and dimmed on the inside, perfect for happy hours or dinners before a night out on the town, or a night with your parents. Just do NOT order the Asian Salad, becasue its more of a Asian Cabbage Salad and you could find better things on the menu im Sure. I would however try the berry cobbler for desert.

Having recently moved to the new Thornton Place complex, I have been desperately seeking a somewhat decent bar near by. My experience at Stanfords on a Monday was everything I had been hoping for and more From the outside, Stanfords looks like a track home gone wrong. No windows, across from a mall and directly off the freeway exit. Inside was nice, reminiscent of that other mall-attached/steakhouse restaurant, "The Keg". However, our bartender, a lovely, bubbly and gregarious brunette, provided some of the best service I have ever had. Not sure how the food is here, but the Monday night bar is a win.

Okay, this was our third time eating at Stanfords, 2nd time doing the happy hour. The Mac n Cheese tasted like it was pre-made and then re-heated for us. Cheese was crusty on top and had way to many breadcrumbs and was too greasy, a let down from last time we ordered this. The Artichoke dip aslo had way too many breadcrumbs on top and was too greasy. My cheeseburger was good for a $3 cheeseburger, but once again way too greasy. I had grease dripping down my hands and all over the plate and table. My wife and I went home with upset stomachs and I spent the rest of the afternoon runnning in and out of the bathroom. Good times at Stanfords.

Let me say that the only time Standford's gets a 3 star from me is from the happy hr. I really do enjoy the chicken tenders, fries and burgers from that menu, and they have a decent selection of beers. I have gone in twice for non-happy hr related food and I feel like its too expensive for what you get but by the way the place looks I wasnt surprised by the cost of the food.

Food in the dining room was good, but the service was quite slow. The waiter stopped by to say Hello, and then we didn't see him for ten minutes. After ordering drinks he disappeared for another ten minutes. We ordered dinner--no salads, no appetizers, just dinner--and it took over a hlf hour. This was around 6:30 PM on a Wednesday evening, so I'm surprised things were so backed up. The bar is a different story, and I'd give it 4.5 stars. The service is quick and thoughtful, the drinks are good, and the appetizers are inexpensive and tasty! Mmmmmmm...

  • Joel G.

If you live in Northgate, it sure is convenient. And the happy hour appetizers are quite cheap, although I found them boring and very salty. And if you want an expensive burger, you're probably better off going to Red Robin. And it's kind of dark, and I think they're still figuring out the service. Now I'm sort of debating with myself whether it should be 2 stars or 3. Why can't I give 2.5 stars? Damn you, Yelp!

The idea of stanfords would be perfect for a nice dinner out for a birthday but no no no! The waitress seemed like she didn't really wanted to be there and never once smiled, even when I said thank you and looked directly at her. I ordered a stea, because we were at a "steakhouse" but it was worse than a piece of meat at any boring chain restaurant. The menu said it came with potatoes and mixed vegetables. When the plate came out the potatoes where so dry and looked like they were made way earlier or even the day before. They were the type you get when you go to summer camp when you were in elementary school. Then the "mixed vegetables" consisted of 4 small baby carrots and CANNED cranberry, cut into chunks. Are you kidding me? Not even edible. On top of that, the plate cost $28! My advice, buy a steak and make it yourself, it will be 100 times better.

We regularly visit Stanfords...usually on a Friday night...we've never had to wait more than 5 or 10 minutes for a table. They are very good about opening doors for you, making you feel welcome, getting you to a a table quickly. I usually order the red wine they offer in the bar for HH (Sycamore Lane)--there are times when I've had a server tell me that I can't order it in the restaurant (which is complete B.S.), but most of the time the servers tell me no problem (I do pay full price for it in the restaurant--which is no biggie). Yes, you're going to drop more $$ here for dinner, but I've found the food to be fairly good--not outstanding--but good. Four years ago, Stanfords used to have an amazing HH where you could get full sized salads and food plates for $3--but they stopped doing that once the economy turned (like most places). I still love the fact that I can get a glass of wine for $6 during HH and get great service, but I hope they eventually go back to the big plates of food and expand their HH drink options, once the economy turns around. If I have a complaint, and I share it with anyone at the restaurant (my server, the hostess--anyone)--they have always taken it seriously and have addressed it right away. So, overall, this place is a 4 star for me.

I came here looking for a reasonably priced yet tasty lunch on Saturday afternoon. The initial thought I had was that Stanford's was going to be too pricy and kind of blah. Not so! Most items on the menu were very reasonably priced and the quality of the food and service definitely blows the other chains that have recently moved into the Northgate Mall area out of the water. They even have outdoor seating, which I recommend if its nice out. It's seriously peaceful, almost too peaceful...hehe :) I will definitely go back here to eat when I'm in Northgate and hungry for good food. I had a chicken sandwich that had arugula and sundried tomato aioli and carmelized onions and cheese with clam chowder for 11 bucks! Totally worth it. I can't very often give chain restaurants a high ranking, but I really can't complain with this place.

This review is for the happy hour only, since I am too poor to pay for the food during regular hours. They have a very good selection of food on the menu, and the quality is a little fancier than most places I've been to. The prices range around $2-5 so it's reasonably cheap. My only gripe is that the portions are very very small. I had the mac and cheese and the BBQ pulled pork sliders. The mac and cheese came out in a small bowl, and the pork sliders ($3.50 for 2 pieces) were actually some meat and pieces of coleslaw sandwiched between a dinner roll! Being a big eater as I am, I was still hungry from just those 2 orders. Some of my friends ordered dessert and our waitress accidentally charged an extra one onto our bill, so we got a free Smores dessert. The desserts were amazing. I highly recommend the Smores and this fried candy bar dessert (forgot the name) but it had Snickers in it. I think that was the highlight of my experience there at Stanford's. A lot of people have said the service was slow, but our service was actually pretty good. The waitress brought out our food promptly and she even let us move to a different table when some of our friends joined us later. Overall the food is a little pricey for the amount they give you, but it's still good.

Are you at the mall and need something other than Red Robin and Azteca? Does the CA Pizza Kitchen not lend a calling to you? Then cross the parking lot (carefully to avoid the idiots speeding around for parking spots) to Stanfords. Once inside you will be wrapped in a luxurious surrounding (for Northgate Mall). You will experience service and food like none other (at the mall). Happy hour is cheap eats time, but they rope-a-dope you with their $15 cocktail drinks. Don't fall for that one unless you want to. The bar is an after work hangout/meat market/???, so it's packed out with nacho-swilling masses unwinding from a dynamic work day in North Seattle. If you want to impress your parents (who think Denny's is da bomb), take them to the restaurant. They can order food that rivals ANYTHING at the Olive Garden or Red Lobster. If I'm too lazy to go anywhere else and just want some food, this place is the destination-I just don't tell anyone about it. On the flip side, the waitstaff is generally friendly and attentive. The bartenders must be judged/paid/employed to be upsellers, so you'll most likely get the used car salesman treatment to upsize your drink for only $___. I guess if you can't reach your sponsor in time, this place will probably kill you. Give it a try, it's the best place in the whole world (if the world is Northgate Mall).

I tried... I really tried to like this place. I went three times. Probably won't go back unless it's to the bar. First the positive: great bar, beautiful even. If the whole place was as great as the bar I'd rate it much higher. The service in the dining room was great, but even a cute waiter can't make me eat the food! Now for the negative: The food was mediocre at best. Each time I went we had different meals thinking that maybe it was just that item. Starters, I had an artichoke dip that was swimming in grease and almost too salty to eat. The main meal was meatloaf, where did they get this recipe? I've had better meatloaf at the Old Country Buffet. I can't even remember what I ate the time before, it was that unimpressive. I'm not sure if they are trying to be too clever but a chef should be able to make something besides Mac and Cheese. The bar, don't go past the bar! The manager did his best to make things right but what could he really do, maybe there's a chef looking for a job now? I hate how bitchy I sound in this review but it was "that" bad. This place has incredible potential, it's got a beautiful ambiance and a great staff. Maybe the people from the corporate office need to get out more? They may not be sure what would sell in a mall parking lot. Comfort food in an upscale place? I hope the sales at the other stores can keep this place alive until they figure it out.

When it comes to chain restaurants, I find Stanford's to be a very slight smidgen above the rest. Their happy hour is decent with cheap eats. I have gone there quite a few times for vendor lunches and have been able to try a lot of different items. It's good enough to generally satisfy without amazement. I don't think their prices are worth the items hence I never go there on my own accord, except for happy hour because it is the best bang for buck for them. The service has been decent. The decor is good enough. A-OK.

I love their happy hour! Cheap and delicious food! I wasn't very impressed with their regular menu though when I came for lunch. I thought some of the food was overpriced for the quality so I will only be coming here for happy hour. Unfortunately there is no happy hour for drinks but it's great for munchies and to chat with friends.

Stanfords is a chain. It's an obvious chain with the american style food. It's semi-swanky. It deserves only this. Solid food, decent prices, decent atmosphere, but is a chain. Kind of like buying a shirt at the mall and realizing every person has it. Well every other chain is similar to it and it unfortunately doesn't stand out of the pack.

There are extreme pro's to this place that have ALMOST exceeded the cons, until the past week or so... for starters, the happy hour menu is brilliant. It is hands-down my favorite in the area for a quick drink, and their mac n cheese is killer! The best drink I have ever had in my LIFE is the blood orange mojito at Stanford's. It is just the most delicious beverage to order and I'd drink them all day every day if my wallet and liver could afford it. I only really want to talk about the bar because the first time I ever went, I learned that the restaurant SUCKS. Really slow service, rude wait staff, and a huge waste of money. I got the chicken Caesar salad but the chicken was undercooked and they didn't comp my meal...they just brought me out another one and by the time I got it, everyone else was done eating. (LAME). The food isn't filling and it's over-priced. Don't bother going unless you head straight for the bar. NOW with all of that said.... My fiancee and I regularly frequent Stanford's for their great happy hour. I'd say we go there at least once a week and are loyal customers since we live across the street... it's really too bad that the last time we went together he got food poisoning from the burger he ate, because now he won't go with me anymore. Now I can't even order the burger because I had to clean it out of my bathroom tub that he yacked all over at 3am. Within the same week, I invited some friends to come with me for mac n cheese, but the happy hour menu was misleading and my friend who (I didn't know until he turned green in the face) was allergic to meat... so the bacon in the mac n cheese should have been a little more obvious. I guess it was only written on the regular menu but not the happy hour menu so he didn't learn about it until he threw up and saw bacon. They compensated him for his drinks and food but the illness it caused him didn't really make it a fair deal for any of us, especially since it was our first round of beers. I told the waitress about the food poisoning incident that happened the last time I was there and she suggested I write a letter... I would have preferred to just speak to the manager (or a health inspector maybe)? I'm really reluctant to go back. I might want to give it one more go for the mac n cheese if I can find any other friends to come with me but it just suuuuucks so bad that it's not a good date spot for us anymore. Their happy hour always seemed a little too good to be true, and after a really bad week of going there I'm kind of getting a reality check. I wish I could just have their mojitos and mac n cheese every day but no one will go there with me anymore. A decent alternative is the RAM which is in the same lot.. not as "gourmet" but the service and over-all experience seems to be better.

The atmosphere is ok and the staff excellent, but the food is just meh. My seafood grill was perfectly cooked, but I had only 1 shimp, 2 scallops, and two small pieces of fish on a skewer. The cheesy bread wasn't that wonderful and the orzo was a funny color. The house salad was pretty good, with big pieces of bacon and egg. The macaroni and cheese is ok but nothing exciting. My blood orange mojito was good, quite a bit of beers on tap. I didn't look at the wine list. Overall just an ok place to eat, nothing worth going out of your way for.

After work I stopped by Northgate with a buddy on a Sunday afternoon- five pm. The initial plan was to go to the Ram and get happy hour drinks for an hour and then get dinner. That plan was a no-go since The Ram doesn't have a happy hour on Sunday from 3-6 like the weekdays. We were going to pack up and go over to Red Robin for drinks and fries instead, but then we both looked up and over to our right...BOOM! There was the building, there was my phone in my hand. I quickly text messaged google and got the number to Stanford's before we even got back to my car. "Hi, you reached Stanford's! How may I help you?" I winced at the high pitched bubbly voice and stoically asked about the happy hour. "3 to 6" She replied promptly as we walked the few paces from my parked car to the door. Once inside, I noticed a screen with a ball game on, and there were a few couples in their early 20's hiding within the booths. It was extremely dark and weird, like a psuedo-classy joint for people with no discernment of style. I am pretty sure I remember at least one hanging Tiffany lamp. We immediately went and sat down at the bar. A ripped dark haired college bro with sleeve tats asked us if we knew what we wanted. We told him not yet and picked up the happy hour menu. Only appetizers. And not very appetizing looking ones at that. Where were the drinks? Where were the 2 dollar wells, or 2.75 micros, or even a dollar off top shelf? Nothing, there was not any type of sign of a discount or deal. I asked the brotender, I mean, bartender, about the happy hour, and was informed it was on apps only. The house mixed drinks sounded like some sugared sippings that a prom queen would find delightful at a pool party in southern California, and the martinis were not looking much better. So much for class. I figured I could get a cheaper grey goose and oj over at Red Robins, and we got up and did just that. I ended up getting a BLTA and fries plus booze and still kept our bill for two under 30 bucks.

Funny enough, we were on our way to Red Robin at Northgate and were derailed by the prospect of a new place! Easy on the eyes, the embodiment of the renovation that is previously known as NorthSuck. We should have stuck to Red Robin... The similarity of their menu to McCormick & Schmicks was immediately obvious in a categorical way - Apps, Medium Priced Food (Sandwiches, Burgers) and then the Steaks, a few Pasta Dishes... seems like one of those "safe bet" places where everyone might be able to find something they like. Heck, they even had fajitas on there! I was even thinking things were going to turn out positive when they brought out the bread - it smelled divine and it was definitely fresh, not to mention delicious. All of my hopes were dashed once they actually brought out the food... and flashbacks of another sour dinner flooded my mind. Some part of me blames myself for straying from the safe, but from the other Yelps I am thinking of letting go that guilt. We ordered a Cobb Salad that came all pre-mixed... you know, I don't know what is traditional, but I like all the little piles of "stuff" that you get to mix yourself. Egg, tomato, black olives, etc. It was pre-mixed, no piles, and no egg. No egg? Hmm. And then the sandwich, a "Steak & White Cheddar" creation - EWWWW.... steak that tasted like unseasoned hamburger and greasy cheese dripping out the side... and fries that were a sad shadow of what fries should be. Greasy and unseasoned... so plain that I was loathe to eat them! It looks fancy enough on the inside, and outside, but the substance that is the food falls WAY short of anything I deign to spend my money on. I remarked that if there was a way (without actually vomiting) I could have removed what I had consumed there and replaced it with Red Robin I would have felt much better. At least it would have been a happier stomach ache...

This place has a decent selection of food at fairly reasonable prices. The ambiance is nice and low lighting gives it a sense of style and class. However, the food is somewhat mediocre... Nothing stood out from the 3-4 times I've been there. Their steaks were OK. Their salads were alright. I was not wowed by the food there. Our waitstaff have provided consistently good customer service, so that was a plus. However, I think they seriously need to add more unique elements to their menu offerings in order to compete in this space.

Absolutely horrible service. My husband and I were running errands in the Northgate area and decided to hop in and try out the new restaurant. We were seated promptly at a table by the kitchen. The hostess wiped down the table with an extremely sour rag that just wreaked to high heaven. We looked at the menu, discussed our drink options, discussed appetizer options, and sat. For 15 minutes, we waited for someone to ask for a drink order, bring us water...nothing. The tables around us were being served and no one approached us for 15 minutes. We got up to leave and a server (the one we presume was ours) sneezed on the food waiting on the line and told us to have a good night. The hostesses just looked at us like nothing was wrong. Will never give them a try. It looked liked overpriced, mediocre food from what we could tell anyhow.

In general I enjoy the food here, particularly a cheap bit at happy hour. The service can be lacking or can be excellent, depending on the waiter. Been going there since they opened and have had two memorably bad experiences. The first time took over an hour to get our food. Normally by then I would have walked out, but we were pre-planning a wedding so didn't notice the time. The manager was going to comp our meals (point in their favor) but we paid before he could get to our table (point against). The second my burger was charcoal. Oh, gee, no, tragedy. I sent it back and had a replacement quickly. I would recommend giving the place a try before discounting it. You might be pleasantly surprised.

I liked it. Basic food, yes it is a chain, but the staff were super nice. And it is very comfortable inside. One big problem-- my daughter's grilled cheese sandwich had a bit of mold on the breadcrust. They took it back and replaced it very quickly, apologized profusely and then the manager comped our ENTIRE meal. I love it when people take responsibility for a problem and try hard to make it better. We'll be going back.

Full priced drinks at Happy Hour? What is so happy about that? Sure, the happy hour food was good enough, my husband and I had the mac and cheese (very good), a salad, calamari (bland sauce), and a very good artichoke dip. The portions seemed right and they were served promptly and hot. Server was friendly and attentive. But I don't know how you serve full price drinks for a happy hour and to top it off a plain old small glass of Brandy and 7-Up is $9!!! I could see that if we were on top of the Space Needle but we are sitting just outside of Northgate Mall and lucky if we could view the parking lot or traffic getting onto I-5. A tap beer will set you back $5 for a less than full pint. If you want a reasonable and decent happy hour on the north end go to Green Lake Bar and Grill. If you are downtown go to Maximillien. Those are sure things!

bit $$$ in the restaurant part which never ate at but this place has the best happy hour food and you don't have to buy drinks to get it!!!!!!!! the food is like gourmet (mac n cheese is the best! and the quesadillas!) the price is so right and you get large portions for a happy hour!! very much recommend! service can be a little slow most the time.. not sure why.. so if you are in a hurry i wouldn't suggest eating there. ;)

Really a 3.5 but i bumped it up to a four after reading others comments on here. I think I may have been stepping into a portal and traveling into a Northgate Stanfords in a different universe. While some items on their menu is expensive i.e. steaks and fish most items are very reasonably priced. The burgers are $10 and under and delicious. Plus if you substitute a side salad it comes with egg bacon and everything. The onion rings are huge and the best around. When it first opened it tried to be a steakhouse and failed at it. But then it redid its menu and now is a great place to grab a burger salad or sandwich. I always leave full and happy. On the doggy bag front they are allowed on non happy hour food. A good restaurant with better food than the other burger joints in the area(RAM Red Robin)

I have come here a handful of times, both for happy hour and during regular dinner hours, and every time I am very underwhelmed. The food is not terrible, but is that type of generic, uninspired chain restaurant variety-except that it is EXTREMELY overpriced. Think of an entree at Applebees or Red Robin and add an average of 5.00 to the price and you have Stanford's. Some people boast of the portion size, but I find it to be very standard. A flatbread margherita pizza with the thinnest crust ever, shared between two people left us still hungry and cost 12.00. An order of calamari was half-filled with deep fried vegetables and didn't taste fresh, Not worth it during regular price hours. It's like they trick you into thinking the food is good because the restaurant is all dark wood and plush and low lighting. I have had some hits and misses with their cocktails/beverages. Happy hour gives a dollar off draft beers and they have a reasonable selection, but don't come expecting a large variety of micro brew (one star for always having Total Domination on tap). I have had extremely well made, delicious strong cocktails one visit, and upon another, very watered down and not well mixed. My favorite is the Blood Orange Margarita- If you can get me to actually drink Tequila, that's saying something, because I hate tequila. But like I stated- one visit, they are amazing, the next- not so much. They have a really excellent variety of small plates on their happy hour menu, but even the happy hour menu is very overpriced for some things-like 6.95 for two tiny pork tacos. Their happy hour salads are small and skimpy. But I do like the Stanford's Mac and Cheese, although it's got bacon in it, and not really macaroni but penne. I won't go our of my way to get it because I'm trying to limit the carbs. The service is the most spotty part. I think I've really only had good service when I sat at the bar top. I will be back to sit at the bar for happy hour if I am at the mall, but probably gonna skip the food from now on.

I was curious to try this place as I frequent the Northgate area but never dined here or know anything about this place, other than that they serve American food. Walking in, the décor was nice, clean and stylish. The friendly staff greeted us (party of 5) and took us to our table quickly. Our server was nice and he was proactive to our needs (filling our drinks and checking on us frequently). We ordered mostly from their signature section of the menu (not their daily specials) including their mac n cheese, which was highly recommended by our server. Overall, the food was very disappointing. The portion was overall generous, but it seemed like the someone mislabeled all their seasonings in the kitchen. The each bite into my burger, I tasted either too much spice, too much salt, or no seasoning at all. The fries were soggy and over saturated with oil. The mac and cheese was blend at best, again tasted too much salt in one bite, and nothing on another. Their halibut fish taco was alright, tasted crisp and fresh.., however, it seemed like someone forgot to season it. Generally, (including our appetizers) we thought everything tasted a bit Cajun spicy.., but without the Cajun flavor. Maybe I picked the wrong day to try this out a new restaurant, but likely I'll never return.

I'm going to start off by saying that I was unaware this was a more formal type of restaurant, and that this all happened about a year and a half ago. We walked in dressed pretty casually and were initially ignored by the host (a 40 something balding gentleman) he looked at us like we had no business there, simply saying "...what?" and looked at me like I was crazy when I replied "Table for two?". He made an almost audible groan and led us to a table, safe to say we felt quite uncomfortable. That was until our waiter came to our table, he was an older gentleman, very professional and courteous, he even infused some humor into his service (effectively salvaging our visit), he was very efficient at taking and bringing out our orders. The food arrived quickly and was fantastic, for such a formal place, it was reasonably priced and we left happy, our friend at the hosting station, seemingly vanished. Overall Stanford's was great, remember to dress nicely!

Gathered with friends here for a little holiday cheer the other night, and overall it was just, well, pretty average. I will say that the ambience was nice, and our server was super! But usually, particularly when I'm the designated driver and am not drinking (as was the case this night), I go to restaurants for the food, and for the prices, this food was just ok at best. The onion rings on a stick looked good, but were in desperate need of more seasoning. The buffalo wings were okay, typical bar food buffalo wings. My fish and chips were disappointing. The serving of fish was tiny, 3 small-ish tubes of fish, and the batter not crispy enough. The fries were good, so I filled up on those. The coleslaw tasted like it came out of a jar, not worth it. I wish I had gone with the burger, as those looked pretty good. Oh well. I would say this is an okay stop if you happen to live nearby or be shopping at Northgate, otherwise there are just better options.

*Happy Hour Review* Oh my have they down-graded! I haven't written a review for this location yet, but if you look up the review I wrote for the Tukwila location, it was about the same. I haven't been back in a while, but as soon as I ordered our food, I realized the recession was still in full effect. The portions have gotten smaller and their burger (which was and still is there best value) now has half the size of beef patty as it once used to. On a good note, they've added drink specials to their HH which is the one thing I thought they were missing and overall, it's still not a bad HH option because their food is still great.

I would like to start off by saying that I specifically signed up for this yelp account to write this review so others don't have the same experience that my family and I had this thanksgiving... Honestly it was the biggest waste of $80 that I have EVER spent... Even though it was a nice restaurant, the "thanksgiving day dinner" which both my fiance and I had was a joke and ridiculously overpriced for what it was @ $25 a plate, the turkey was so dry it was barley edible and some of the meat was OBVIOUSLY reheated in a microwave and mixed with turkey "gibbets", the mashed potatoes had BIG chunks of uncooked pieces in it and the amount of stuffing we each received was literally a single bite of a cornmeal like stuffing substitute that tasted nothing like stuffing at all! My guess is that they had ran out of stuffing and made a crappy substitute hoping no one would notice the difference... the only good thing I can say about the food was the turkey gravy was decent and I liked the green beans that they served... everything else was crap. Also the drinks were AWFUL! Oh yeah and I almost forgot, my son didn't want the turkey dinner but ended up getting it anyway due to them not having what he asked for "prepped yet"; which would be understandable had it not been a simple CHEESE BURGER AND FRENCH FRY ORDER!!! What prep needs to be done for a cheeseburger exactly? Needless to say he refused to eat the turkey, and I honestly didn't blame him... at least his meal was only $8... even though it was almost the same size as my fiance and I's $25 plates, which isn't saying much as either of our plates could have been finished off by any 8 year old boy.... had it been edible. Obviously we never plan on returning and hope that you don't make the same mistake we did.

*this review only applies to happy hour* Drinks specials do not apply for late night happy hour. My friends and I didn't find that information out until half way through our visit. The food was good but small portions for happy hour. My girlfriend got a free creme brulee since it was her birthday, so that was nice. Don't think I'd come here again...unless someone else was paying.

Stanford's was the only place opened after 9 pm on the Fourth of July. We stopped by for a drink and appetizer (HH). We ordered teriyaki glazed steak bites with pineapple and caesar salad with grilled chicken. The steak bites were so juicy and tender. They were five pieces in total. I needed more!!! The caesar salad is just like any other caesar salad. Nothing stood out. The grilled chicken that came with the salad was too dry. It was a bit overcooked. My mango mojito was fabulous! I didn't taste even a hint of alcohol though. Sweet but mint leaves balance that out.

My husband and I went there for Happy Hour and the food was really delicious. The artichoke dip was great, the ribs were good but a really small serving. The beer and well drink prices were reasonable, but I'm not confident a lot of alcohol actually made it into my drink. You might be better off ordering the beer so you dont get charged for a mostly cranberry juice vodka cran! =) I did also spend a few extra bucks to get a signature drink, which was MUCH better!

We have been to Stanfords twice in the last 2 months. The first time we had hair on the plate, water glasses that were not clean and the food was not good. :( I complained by contacting corporate office and after no initial reply found ceo's contact info and was sent an a gift card and apology to give them a second try...I really didn't want to try again since I am super squeamish about things on my plate, dirty menu and on my glass etc..My son took his girlfriend with gift card (he was with us for Dec visit for a b-day dinner) and unfortunately they has almost same experience. This is just such a disappointment! He came home and told me that there was something floating in his water glass and once again the menus were dirty with food stains. I really want to them to do whatever they can to fix these things as this is close to our home. Not sure if they have an issue with dishwasher not being hot enough or what. The menus having stains 2x (paper) is unacceptable. I have always LOVED scotts bar and grill and believe they have same parent company. Please have someone go thru the menus and not give them out if there are stains or print a plastic menu and make sure the glasses are SPOTLESS before they are given to a customer. the service both times was good...not great but good. Unfortunately the other issues just ruined meal.

All you do here is wait. We waited over an hour for our food and never received our order. There were also multiple groups of people who were walking out because they had not received their food either. One of the couples we talked to, as we were leaving, were sitting in the dining area and said it wasn't even busy over there. The kitchen staff is just really slow. On the plus side the bartender was very attentive and was super apologetic. Can't say anything bad about the wait staff or the bartenders, but the kitchen staff needs to get their act together.

I only come here for the happy hour because it is dirt cheap for food. They have all day happy hour on sundays which is great because you can get cheap food and watch sports! Their dining on the other hand, not really worth it. Salads are good, but that's about it. Actually, the calamari is good, but the sauces they have with it... yeah... PASS! Spinach and artichoke dip... greasy. Overall, just go to happy hour instead.

Like others have mentioned, the happy hour here is pretty awesome. I came for their second happy hour (served at the bar from 9pm - close) and stuffed myself silly. Most of the happy hour plates ranged from $3-5 and you can get completely full off 1-2 of them. The mac & cheese that everyone likes is ok, but it lacks a crispy top and could have used a richer sauce. I did like the meatballs with blackberry sauce and the fries served with a trio of dipping sauces. There's a great deal on the HH menu and you can afford to try everything without breaking the bank.

HH or late night dessert at Standford's at Northgate mall on a Saturday night. It has a daily HH starting at 9PM in the bar area and looks like pretty average prices for what I see on HH places but they have a pretty wide selection of items. I'd still have to give it 3 stars with the prices and options being about average. I had a craving for some dessert and there just wasn't a lot of places open within easy drive/parking. Standford's came to mind to try since I was close to the area. Desserts are pretty standard but good. I tried the pecan pie and the triple chocolate molten cake with a cafe mocha. I tell you that the triple chocolate molten cake was a sight to behold. A crunchy crust chocolate cake in a cup with whipped cream and a drizzling of chocolate syrup and I thought it might have been missing something to make it stand out other than the look of it. The pecan pie was actually a small pie and not just a slice. It wasn't completely solid pie but it wasn't really runny either but it did fill the sweet craving I had. Standford's service was friendly and attentive. The bar area has small booths and round tables. Being on the northgate mall properties, there was plenty of parking.

This is one of those places that I'm kinda embarrassed that I've been to. But I swear, it wasn't that good. Kinda funny, out of the whole experience that really struck me, I mean the food = mediocre, the service = un-noteworthy.... the strange, stark white plates. Looked like something in your grandma's kitchen (no offense, anyone with a cool grandma). A little off white, and strangely plain or something, couldn't put my finger on it. Cause this looks (it's supposed to be) a classy place. But those plates, they threw me off so bad. The burger was fine. Unremarkable. Here I am, it's been YEARS since I went here ONCE, and what do I remember, those strange, out of place plates. Thanks, a lot, for listening to this one!

Whoa! Talk about a good Happy Hour! The macaroni I got was $3.50 and my friend got a regular sized cheese burger for $4.00. I'll definitely be back. The service was decent and the food didn't take too long to come out.

We stopped in on a last-minute whim, having seen their masthead that faced the freeway. The food was really pretty delicious. The patty melt has "bacon jam" which is bacon and mushroom reduction...delicious and fantastic. The other plate we had was the pesto linguini with shrimp, also quite tasty. They have a good beer selection, too. Our server was very friendly, not too pushy with up-sells, and left us to eat after checking in with us.

Are you kidding me?? $17.00 for an entree Chopped Chicken Salad that consists of a bit of cabbage, a bunch of corn chips, a few strips of dry chicken, two cherry tomatoes cut in half and a drizzle of barbeque sauce and a dollop of something else that was semi flavorful! I used to love Stanford's. What happened?? Could have got a chopped salad from Subway with more substance and flavor and a third the cost.

The wine was good and that's about all the good I can say about this evening. The prime rib was tough and gristly. The broccoli was in edible. The soup tasted like it came out of a box from Trader Joe's. The small piece of salmon was pressed into an over garlicky blob of strangely colored mashed potatoes. The service wasn't bad however-the waiter was nice. Nice atmosphere but I won't be dining here again.

This review is towards their HAPPY HOUR. Stanford used to be one of my favorite happy hour joints. I am not a fan of chain restaurants but their happy hour was decently priced and the food was up to par. I finally revisited this restaurant after two years. Sadly, I feel like it's really gone downhill due to the decline from their quality of food. PROS: Ambiance: Happy Hour is only available in the bar/lounge area. Large bar area with many booths and high tables. The booths are pretty comfortable. Service: I came on a Wednesday night and it wasn't busy at all so we got seated right away. Our waitress (I forgot her name) was great, she was very attentive and friendly. Our food and drink order came out VERY fast. Our water and drinks were being refilled many times throughout the meal. CONS: Price/Menu: Their prices had recently increased. The chicken strips went from $4.50 to now $7.50. They also discontinued a few items as well. FOOD: We ordered the Southwest Nachos, Steakhouse Cheeseburger Sliders, French Bread Pepperoni Pizza, French Fries and Mac N' Cheese. Mac N' Cheese: Probably the best thing that we had. Good portion size. Perfect amount of cheese and bacon. Fries: Good. Hard to ruin fries. The dipping sauces were good. Nachos: The tortilla chips were fresh. The diced grilled chicken was alright, a little on the dry side. The fire roasted tomato salsa just okay, it didn't taste very fresh. The white cheddar sauce killed the nachos. The sauce was very watery and bland which turned everything into a soggy mess. Cheeseburger Sliders: The patty was a decent size, juicy and flavorful. However, the crispy onion rings were very oily. French Bread Pizza: Worst thing that we ordered. The bread was stale and soggy and the tomato sauce tasted like it came straight from a can. Due to this disappointing visit, I probably won't be back.
