It's a cool space, nice location, interesting menu. But I ordered a kale caesar salad. That was 100% romaine lettuce. And drenched in dressing. And covered in cheese. So, definitely skip that and order something else! My friends said the pineapple cider was pretty good and their sandwiches and burgers looked pretty decent.

Yeah, it's okay. I work in Fremont so we go about once a week when we want a beer. I've had great service and great food and bad service and bad food. The only real consistency they have is inconsistency. We still go but it sure would be nice if week to week it was the same experience and food. Oh and change your beer signs!!

Bro bar. Great place to watch sports or sit outside (esp to enjoy people watching during Fremont markets, etc). The sangria is popular.

This place is dece. I've been here more times for lunch since I work in the area than I have going out at night here. I do like that they have some healthier options on the lunch menu, and that they don't balk at you if you modify a bit to make it healthier. I usually get some sort of salad, last time I got the spinach salad. The lettuce tasted a little off, the dressing was good and the walnuts were crunchy. I asked them to hold the cheese and go light on the dressing which they accommodated. Good outdoor seating and great for groups.

Good well-made drinks, and good service. I loved the mojito I had there. Nothing fancy just your basic neighborhood pub in Fremont. Great for large groups, with lots of seating. Just wish there was better lighting in the place.

Meh. Yes, the Red Door sucked us right in. I don't know what it is, but it attracted us like bees to a flower. We got here a little late (it's a pub tho?) so that's maybe why the servers were "over it". They were lackadaisical and pretty much why we were out of the Red Door after we downed a beer and ordered the only thing they offered at the time..appetizers. Your usual beers, not much any deals going on which is a negative to the star count. We ordered some Korean wings and the nachos which took much too long. By the time we got the check and were headed to the next establishment, we were over it.

This is clearly a business that does not take great pride in their establishment. On my last two visits, drinks have been served in pint sized glasses that have chipped glass rims. Today when you rubbed your finger over it, glass shards would actually come loose. This was oh so visible when served that it is very disappointing that the staff thinks it is OK to allow this glass to even be on property. Immediately upon ordering, the establishment requires a tab to be started. They are a mix of a bar and a sit down order at your table location showing further more the little they value or trust guests. All in all the food is OK but stay away from the Red Door. If you drink glass mixed with your drink, this can cause serious issues.

We went there for a cocktail after some great Improv nearby. I ordered an Old Fashioned which the bartender apparently didn't know how to make as the orange and cherry weren't muddled and there were no bitters. I then ordered a Dark 'n Stormy with Goslings Rum and Goslings Ginger beer. What could possibly go wrong with that you ask? The bartender squeezed about 5 limes into it. It tasted like lime juice and not at all like ginger beer or rum. It was quiet, only a few customers but the service was very slow. Come to find out that the bartender is also the bar manager. Doesn't say much for the place when the bar manager can't make basic drinks.

Nice place, but the food is terrible. Excessively salty, dry, mealy chicken and yellow wilted veggies do not justify a $15 meal.

The Red Door is the go-to place for my team at work for social events. The menu is great and their burgers are creative and incredibly good. They have an ever changing lineup of craft beers on tap, many local, and I always find something new and fantastic to try. Service can be a bit slow but the staff is always super nice.

This is a pub, so if you set your expectations, it's a fine establishment. We went for lunch, ordered salads and both were really good. Nothing fancy. If you are in Fremont, and want a quick bite to eat, there is nothing wrong with the Red Door. waitress was great. Just the right amount of attention.

Love the mussels and I think their bacon cheeseburger minus the bacon is to die for! Went last Sunday after my daughters regatta and chowed. Big time. Service was flawless and the food was fabulous.

We stopped in here on a Friday night and sat outside on the deck. The waitress walked by US several times without acknowledging that we were there. After the 3rd table was served that came in behind us I spoke up and said "excuse ensure but we have been waiting 20 minutes to place our order" the people that were being waited on said " go ahead and help them, we haven't decided" the waitress said no I'll wait. We walked out the door and told the manager on the way out what we experienced. Will never be back here again.

Oh Red Door, you have such promise. A nice outdoor area, decent menu, and good cocktails. What you do not have is service. We have been here four times. Two times we had sufficient service, good enough that we got drinks within 15 minutes. Two times that we sat and sat and sat without any acknowledgement - even after alerting the server and bartender to our presence. Sometimes you're busy, we get that, but I think sitting at a table for 20 minutes with not even a nod in our direction is too much even for the famed "Seattle mediocrity." I used to wait tables and bartender myself for years, so I will cut anyone a decent amount of slack, but Red Door has exceeded even my limit. If you can get service here, you're in for a decent meal and good drinks, but a 50% record of service IN THE SERVICE INDUSTRY is not really acceptable. I'd skip this place and try one of the dozen other clones of pub food and semi comfortable interiors here in Fremont.

Great music!!! Anton, the bartender is awesome and very nice! Good soft pretzel too! This place is SO much better than Brouwer's!

  • Ruby S.

We walk in, the bartender looks up then looks away. Nobody really cares you're there and about to spend money. Ok. So then we get our food. Ugh. Its gross. This place is just a nicht nicht. Don't go. Spend your time and money in a place that wants your business, not a place that expects it!

Bad service - unfamiliar with menu, very slow, table was sticky, never brought water. Selection was not great, very basic and no free range or organic meat option. Food was meh. They were out of over half the beers on the menu! Should have gone to Uneeda, or Blue Moon Burgers.

Great brewpub! Went for happy hour and got a delicious IPA and a few really yummy snacks. I thought the service was fine, the waitress was attentive and pleasant.

Best place in Fremont, great staff, great views from the deck, easy to park, and a tasty menu to boot. A great place to either start or end an evening.

Red Door is a pretty decent neighborhood pub. I've been here a few times for lunch and think the food is above average for pub grub, though sometimes not consistent. Their fish and chips are tasty--but once I got a collection of a few small pieces, and it didn't feel like it really added up to a full serving. I love their turkey pepperjack sandwich--loaded with thick slices of house-roasted turkey. I also am a fan of the french dip--though I like to add mama's li'l peppers to give it some tanginess and heat. They have a great selection of beer, including a cask option. It's also a great spot for groups--on more than one occasion the whole office came here. The servers let us pull together several tables and even did separate checks for us (what I find to be an uncommon courtesy for large groups).

We got a table near the giant window, and had a wonderful server named Heidi. I had a special burger called the Seoul Burger - darned if I can remember what was on it, but I do recall enjoying it. My partner in crime ordered the Kale chicken salad, and gave it a thumbs up.

I always have a great experience here! Good atmosphere and great food makes this a neighborhood favorite. CJ is my favorite server, with his quick wit and stunning smile. He's always friendly and inviting, and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone has the best time here!

The red door overall was decent. I stopped by here with family on a hot day. It was a nice atmosphere overlooking the Fremont Sunday Market. The food here is pleasant if you go you most definitely have to try there curry ketchup. It is one of the highlights of stopping here, I'm not usually a fry person but there fries are made utterly fantastic, with a nice dip in curry ketchup I was begging for more. The service was poor each time I've come it's taken over 30 minutes to get are food, I'm not saying there employees are lazy because they are working there butts off! The problem is they only had 2 people waiting on the whole restaurant and with the lunch rush they were literally running from table to table.

I don't go to Fremont very often, but my friend suggested we go there to catch up and enjoy some HH. Fortunate for us, Red Door offers happy hour from 3-6pm and that worked perfectly for our schedule. I had never been, so I was pleasantly surprised at their HH menu options. I tried the fries with aioli ($3), sliders ($5), and 8-pc. chicken wings ($5). Overall, it was pretty good food. The portion of fries was massive -- thickly cut with a great zingy aioli! I really liked the wings; nice and crunchy with buffalo sauce and ranch served on the side, which kept the wings really crispy...and the sliders were satisfying too. All that food and an order of their apple cider, and it came out to under $20. Who can complain about that?! I've heard that this place can get pretty busy and crazy as a bar, but it was fine during the time that we were there. Service was a little slow, but there must have only been two servers for the entire establishment at that time and my friend and I were there to catch up anyway, so we didn't mind it. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come to Red Door (for HH), but if I'm in the area, I would definitely stop by.

Got the Tavern Burger, a side of fries, and an Ace Pear Cider. I went on a Wednesday night, and was able just to chillax before the holidays. I am totally going to go here again!

Even though this place doesn't have the best decor or the drinks or the food, I still love going here for some beer and nachos. I gotta say their nacho is much better than some so-called Mexican restaurants (ew, I don't know about other dishes but don't order nachos at Metador in Ballard branch, the one in Tacoma is awesome). The rest of their food is not so bad, I like their salad with beets. In summer time, it is really nice to sit outside on the deck and soak up the sun! I like the atmosphere, their cocktails are surprisingly not too bad at all. After a long chaotic day of work, I come here for a couple beers and nachos, and I am all healed.

I drove from downtown Seattle yesterday with two coworkers to try The Red Door for lunch. We waited about 15 minutes for our beverages then ordered and after 45 minutes were told it would be about 20 more minutes for just chopped salads!. At this point we could not wait any longer so we canceled our orders and went back to work. I will not ever return back and would never recommend this place to anyone. My co-workers were upset as well. Key points for not returning are; * not enough help * ridiculous wait times * no heads up it would take so long from staff

I went with some friends after the Freemont 5k, and it was moderately busy. When our waitress finally gave us menus, she walked away before we could place an order for drinks. After 15 minutes we moved inside because she did not come back to our table. We sat at a table in the bar, and tried to order beers and the bartender was extremely rude and would not take my friends order, telling her instead a waiter would help us. About 10 minutes later, and being ignored again, we gave up and went to another restaurant, which gave us excellent service (Jai Thai). This is the second time I have been here and had bad service. I think I will start out at the Thai restaurant the next time I am in Fremont.

So some genius decided that Solstice weekend was a good time to be short-staffed, change the menu and run out of food. Here's how you want to change your menu: 1. Get rid of the classics that distinguish you from your competitors like the Reuben, The Turkey Jack, the Warm Salted Nuts and the Build your own burger. 2. Adopt a menu with every derivative pub food you can find....like add Chicken Wings and Kim Chi Burgers (no this is not a Korean joint). 3. Add a ridiculous named burger like "World Cup" even though this menu is your new permanent menu. 4. Run out of food. 5. Do this on your busiest weekend of the year. Save yourself some time and just walk one block across the bridge to Nickerson Street Saloon. nickersonstreetsaloon.net

What a staple in the downtown Seattle area. Great bar, light, open, spacious feel with tvs for the sports enthusiasts and an interesting twist on drinks for the cocktail enthusiasts. Try their shake on the "mules", the waitress will sell you on the Irish mule as her favorite, a little bias I think. Good times.

I used to come to Red Door when I was in college and still come from time to time. I've visited a few times on week nights when it's not so insanely busy and it's a nice enough place to hang out and grab a drink and/or bite to eat. Service can vary greatly. I've been in when the bartender was downright hostile toward our group and the most recent time the bartender was very nice (different bartenders). They have late night happy hour starting at 10pm on some food items. They have some good taps. Overall, it's a fine place but not my first choice among the bars in Fremont. One plus is they don't charge cover on weekends like some other bars in the area and it's a fairly happening place.

  • Jay V.

Meh...my overpriced "plate" of fries, while good, were lacking the volume that would require the definition of plate. $5 for about 20 fries was less than desirable. Would have rather had another $5 beer. Bartender was nice but less than attentive. Won't be back to this place unless I'm drinking with friends

I have to be honest and say that I missed it being on the main Fremont street and as a college dive bar. That said, great fish and chips, cider and Bloody Mary (esp when it has bacon sticking out if the glass).

  • Mindee A.

I'll start with the good...I am a 'wing' connoisseur and Red Door has the best wings I've been able to find in the greater Seattle area. They get 2 stars for the service (un-friendly at best- I've been coming here regularly for 3 years and they still don't recognize me or my order) I always feel like an inconvenience when I want to order another drink or more food. And, the owner is really unprofessional. He once spit on my car because it was in his 'loading zone' - while picking up a to-go order.

  • Elle J.

The only place we could find in the Freemont neighborhood that wasn't charging a cover on a Friday night... We went in, and it was dead (in all fairness the whole neighborhood was kinda dead that night). I had the worst French 75 ever - but it was also the biggest, however, it was so terrible I was actually sad that it was so big because that meant I had to drink even more of it. My friend ordered a manhattan and said it was terrible too. Pros: no cover and fast service and large drinks Cons: terrible large drinks

Points added for allowing us to order from the HH menu 20 minutes before it actually began AND allowing our large party of 8 on a Monday night sit in the back (which had already been cleaned / closed) and not at the bar. Yummy spicy tater tots. Any good quickly was bogged down by the bad, though. Please make it abundantly clear that you are putting aioli (fancy mayonnaise) on a vegetarian slider. Did you not get the hint that I am very, very picky when I ordered no cheese? Who doesn't list aioli on the menu? Gross! I guess I shoud've sent it back, but I am not keen on saliva in my food unless it is my own, so I ate them with only the top bun and scraped off the mayo with a friend's knife. No offer of a replacement or anything of the kind was made. Really scandalous, RD. On top of that the sliders were yummy, but way too beany and falling apart for my tastes. Vodka soda w/ lime was VERY watery. Next!

This is the typical place to go for a "Fremont Friday" experience. The Red Door very much has a split identity. Late at night, at about 11:00 or so, this place starts to get PACKED to the point that you can't move with younger twentysomethings who are tipsy and single. If you go on a different night, or before it gets too late, it's not a bad place to grab a bite and a drink. I seem to only come here with big groups, so it's a good thing this place is large enough to accomodate. The bartenders were a unique mix of friendly, quick, and patient (if that makes sense...?). If you are looking for a place to go along the lines of Ballroom, head here.

I came her with family while visiting the Seattle area. It was a really nice day, so we decided to sit outside on the deck/patio and enjoy the weather. We first ordered drinks - it was hard to make up my mind what to get, because they had a good variety of specialty drinks listed on their menu. I got a Basil-Rita. It could have used more basil, but overall, it was pretty decent. When it was time to order food, I got a cheeseburger with avocado. When the burger came, it did not have the avocado that I ordered, but I was too lazy to say anything to the waitress about it. The bun of the burger looked really fresh and delicious and the side salad I ordered was delicious. The family I was with split a beet salad, but they were out of beets, so they didn't get the full experience. The salad came out with the most minimal amount of dressing. When they questioned if there was any dressing on it at all, the waitress seemed insulted and said she could easily see that it was already lightly dressed. In any event, she did get more dressing and everyone was once again happy. This is a good place to stop in on a nice day.

I absolutely love the Red Door. It is a great place to meet with a friend and catch HH, watch a game, play some cards while choosing from a wide variety of beers. All the food I've had here is good too: Turkey Bacon sandwich, Sesame Chicken salad, Hummus plate, Boss Hog (pulled pork sandwich). It's not gourmet, but its typical bar food that is pretty satisfying. Of course, my review is tempered by the fact that I never come here on Thursday or Friday nights. I am not a fan of the drunk college crowds.

I have been a fan of the Red Door for years. I tend to frequent it as a lunch spot. In the summer, sitting in the sun on the deck is the way to be! Parts sun, parts shade, it's the perfect combo. It's right in the heart of fremont, next to PCC. I've always had good luck with the food there. The Red Door Special (Soup, Salad and Half a Sandwich) is always a classic! They have a great variety of beers on tap, as well as mixed drinks. Yum! There are a few TV's as well, so it can be a good place to watch a game. The few times i have been here in the later evening, it is PACKED. So, if you want to enjoy the food, I'd encourage you to come early for happy hour, or enjoy this place for lunch, like I do!

This is a regular stop for us after we walk Greenlake. Nice deck in the summer, comfortable environment with big windows in the winter. Nice mix of people with solid happy hour and cold beer. We have pretty much always had good service! 3.50! I am not sure why people are calling this a college bar, I really haven't seen that. Mostly local business people when we are there during the week!

The food at the Red Door is pretty good, but it's typical pub food, there's nothing special about it. The service is seriously lacking, though. We stopped in before our scheduled Theo Chocolate Tour, but had to leave because our appointed server was otherwise busy with her other two tables. She was nice enough to let us go without paying for our drinks and we promised to be back. We did come back at nearly happy hour on a Friday. It wasn't busy at all, except for the bar, but our server was as absent as the first. She also had no skills in describing the food. We asked about a few dishes one question was, "Is your secret sauce spicy?" She said it was like thousand island dressing. Sure, it was like thousand island, sirracha and habanero had a threesome. This would have been fine for me, but the person who got it doesn't do spicy foods. That's the reason we asked. Another member of our party got the after thanksgiving type of sandwich, but our server forgot the gravy and we had to remind her after searching for her for a good 15 minutes. My food was the basic nachos and they were okay, better than average. I think I would have enjoyed the food much more if we got better service and the place was cleaner. It's nice on the outside, dingy and dirty inside. Weird! It's pretty frustrating to get mediocre service in a nearly empty restaurant and I don't think I'll be back, I'd rather try somewhere else.

This place is rapidly moving off my favorites list. Strike 1: A ketchup bottle exploded all over my wife and the waitresses response was to say "Oh yeah that happens all the time" and hand us a wad of napkins. Literally no apology or attempt at restitution. Strike 2: The new menu. I used to recommend this place to all my veggie friends because they had a great black bean burger and you could build your own. They no longer have a DIY burger option and the *only* veggie burger is a super spicy Ghost Pepper/grilled jalapeño burger. Not sure who did their market research but I think the intersection of vegetarians and melt-your-face spicy food lovers is pretty small. The rest of the menu is pretty uninspired, it's quickly gone from Fremont institution to just another bar and grill. If they just went back to the old menu I'd instantly give it a 5 star rating.

Went yesterday to enjoy their patio in the sunshine. We had a great seat out on their deck overlooking the Sunday Market. The experience went downhill from there. Our food was decent but not excellent. The most disappointing aspect of our experience was our waitress. She was slow and unfriendly. In fact, we felt as though we were inconveniencing her with our presence. I was excited to take my husband to the Red Door as years before I had enjoyed it. We won't go back.

  • Karen L.

A good place to grab a bite to eat and just chill with some buddies. We came here for a friend's birthday, and since it was a nice day, we sat outside on the patio. I had the fish and chips, which was good. And they have some yummy ciders on tap, but for some reason, that day they had issues with their kegs. All in all, this place is decent, but the food here isn't all that impressive.

    (3)
  • Terry R.

The service was very slow, the cocktails were bad, the food was uninspired. But they have a really great outdoor space for summer.

    (2)
  • Richard T.

This is a good place to hangout for HH especially with a huge space for outdoor seating on a sunny day. The place was packed with people and everyone was having multiple drinks and shots! This is a good place if you have a big group because they have big tables that can accommodate 8 to 10 people. The food and drink selection is great for HH as you can choose from beers, wines and liqueurs. My gf had a French 75 and I had a Mimosa and they were both strong and tasty. One of the better mimosa I have had here in Seattle with a big pint size glass. The prices were decent and their service was kind of slow, but it was due to them being so busy even though they had quite a few waitresses attending tables. Overall I would come here again just to sit outside and indulge in HH.

    (4)
  • Tiffany A.

Patio seating is an excellent way to spend time on a warm sunny day. They have a good happy hour with $1 off beer and wine and food specials from $3-5. I approve of the beer selection with 2+ great IPAs on tap!

    (4)
  • Lindsay P.

Rude service! Waitress walked away without letting me finish my order. How about you try to upsell those dipping sauces with the fries, or at least ask me what kind I want instead of assuming that I know it comes with garlic aioli (which I did not want). Server barely checked on us. Took too long to get the bill. If it wasn't for the fact that the fries were good this would have been a 1 star.

The Red Door is cool and I definitely had a good time here. Being 29 it was slightly a younger demographic than I'm used to in downtown but the other folks seemed to be having a great time. In fact, the mix of people was pretty interesting. Girls in heels, girls in hoodies, guys in sports tees, guys in button-ups, etc. This bar is really what you make it. If you come for scotch (they have a decent selection) or beer, you're covered. Same with fruity drinks for anyone who's not feeling too daring. It's a basic meet-your-needs bar I suppose. Not terribly fancy, yet not divey in the least. Fantastic for large groups and parties. You could easily fit anywhere from 20 to 200 people here. The bartenders were hard-working and friendly, the guys at the door were great and the music playing in the space was top 40 and familiar. A college bar in Fremont... that's how I'd sum it up.

Disappointing visit to grab a quick bite for lunch and catch a few basketball games. One server was taking care of everyone in the the restaurant as well as tending bar. Burgers were undercooked in the center and fries cold. Wouldn't recommend if you are looking for food, maybe an option for drinks if you are a patient person.

  • Tess G.

My friend and I split the fish n chips and a salad. Good amount of food for two people. And the fries are literally the best fries I've ever had. If anything could convince me to move to Seattle, it's those fries. Well done, Red Door, well done.

  • Zulkiffly S.

I went here for lunch. I sat at the bar by myself and had a burger. No alcohol... I was working. The burger was pretty good. The fries were pretty good also. I like how they let you build your own burger. I had chicken burger with jalapeno and swiss cheese. It was pretty good. All of their burger comes with their homemade aoili. The aoili was pretty good. The only complain I have with the burger is that they fried the jalapeno so much that it lost it's spice. So I put Tabasco in my burger to add to the spice. It's how I like to eat burgers. I like Tabasco on the bun. Try it. It's delicious! Make sure it's on the bun and not the patty. It's has to be on the bun. Ok. Back to the reveiw. The service was ok. It wasn't spectacular. The waitress didn't come back to check on me much. I sat there for an hour and didn't see her much. And when she did come to check up on me, she seemed to be in a rush and seem to didn't want to wait for me to think about what I wanted to drink. So I ended up with the water she gave me when I first sat down. Besides the slow service, I would definitely come back and try something different. The guy next to me had some wings that looked really good. Maybe I will try that next time.

I'm not really sure why people go here.... Allegedly college people flock this place, but on a recent girls night out, it was dead. I don't know, I think I had grandiose expectations of a hoppin' place with a dance floor and hotties galore. But no.. it was a bunch of tables spread out with people eating + drinking. (I guess this is my imagination's fault-- so I can't really give them less than 3 stars :P) Honestly, I felt like I was at the RAM. The HH was pretty good; I ordered wings but ugh they were way too battered and made me feel sort of uneasy. The layout of the place was nice. Not sure if I would come here again with so many other good choices in Fremont.

  • Opal D.

Every time I've come here the food has been terrible... but they really messed up this time. Someone in my group reported getting food poisoning from eating here! Normally the service is bad, but we actually saw an employee snap at a customer while we were there this time!

    (1)

Food was solid. BUT if you have to wait 55 minutes to get your food while on your lunch break, this is the worst place to go. Should of made them call my boss and tell them why I came back late.

Horrible customer service. Didn't have any beer on tap that was advertised. Waited almost an hour for my check and the server gave me attitude when I asked for the check

6.50 for a cider?! Expensive, but I could have dealt with it had the rude bartender not assumed my change to be his tip. I probably would have tipped the overpriced drink, but it was just a dick move to not even ask. Lame sauce

I'm a fan of this place! The place is HUGE and I like that they have an outdoor area and lots of tables. Sure, it gets packed on the weekends and the people may seem fratty, but the servers/bartenders are pretty nice. We hung out here on St. Patty's and stayed until closing. Our server kindly reminded us that last call was happening and was happy to take our orders even though it was a chaotic night. It does feel like a college pub and should be located in the U-District or something but I like the open space and room inside.

Worst place ever! The fucking bartender charged me 315 dollars for a 15 dollar menu item....she apoligized and the manager gave me a free beer....still not enough compensation for a fuck up like that fhat! Screwing me over for 4 days waiting for the mess up to be fixed in my bank! Eat Shit Red Door...

The epitomy of the college scene in Fremont. If you are looking for a college bar Thurs/Fri/Sat then Red Door is your go to. Always packed with people on the weekends.

unimpressed. It was only great because of the people who i was with - although due to the lame atmosphere even their conversation became boring. Our drinks came quickly only because my cousin is dating ("Engaged") to one of the bartenders, other than that there are so many other places that are much more fun. Was great during my college days but so funny how just a few years can change your outlook. This place is drab and our server never came.

We are regulars here... my favorite place to get a Cobb salad, their Taragon dressing in my fav! Also love their varying selection of soups! The service is good, great place for food & drinks, fun place to socialize. A great fit for the Fremont restaurant & bar scene. Oh, and to add to what a great space this place is, their patio/deck is great for enjoying the Spring/Summer sunshine... makes for a fun bar at night too!

I gave two stars only because I used to come here and get great service. It's Sunday and they aren't too busy, however, they took over 20 minutes just to serve two glasses of wine. My girlfriend and I were real disappointed. There are too many other great bars in the area for me to put up with such mediocre service. I won't be back.

We walked in here and the place smelled like sticky spilled dried beer from the night before, and the bathroom was GRODY. We walked out without ordering. The lack of cleanliness of this place was enough to tell me that I was not going to trust my experience with the food.

In all honesty this place is not that great. I ended up going here with some co-workers because the best thing about working in Fremont is being able to try the many different types of restaurants Fremont has to offer. My lunch breaks consist of a total of an hour, i figured this place looked like a semi-nice place and we would be able to dine in and get right back to work. I couldnt have been more wrong. The service here is absolutely terrible, it took forever in a day to get our food while our waitress treated us like she didnt give a damn or as if she just put in her two weeks. We were rarely checked up on and if i could have i probably would have got up and poured some water in my empty glass that had been sitting there for over 40 minutes my damn self. You would at least expect the food to attempt to make up for the terrible service, BUT guess i was wrong again. All in all i ended up getting back to work 10 minutes late, did i forget to mention that my work is literally 2 minutes away??! Wowsers!

I have been here a few times, the outside seating is a plus on nice days. The service is terrible, it takes forever to get anything. My most recent experience was by far the worst so far. I met a few friends to grab some drinks and dinner on a Sunday night. When I got there a couple of my friends were already seated outside with a beer, there were a few people outside but not terribly busy. We sat down and surprisingly the waiter came over and asked if we wanted anything to drink, I just wanted a water and a menu. The waiter came back with a menu and we sat chatting for a few minutes, the waiter returned to take our order but we weren't quite ready. It was another 10 minutes before he came back. We ordered; steak sandwich sub salad for fries, steak salad, nachos with steak and sour cream adds, and a beer. 4 people - 4 orders not so hard right? Well we waited as our waiter passed by several times looking at our table, no beer, 10 minutes, 20 minutes finally we asked about the beer. Shortly after he came back with a beer and informed us that they had run out of chips and couldn't make nachos. Pretty sure this didn't take the kitchen 20 minutes to figure out. Anyway my friend asked if they could just put the nacho toppings on some fries instead, he would pay extra if need be. The waiter returned and said they should be able to do that. Another 15 minutes or so and we finally had food. Steak sandwich with fries - wrong, steak salad - check, nacho fries - no sour cream and no steak? Seriously out of four things that were ordered our waiter managed to get one, I'm not counting the beer because we had to ask about it. After waiting for an hour to get food, most of it wrong, it wasn't very good. On our way out we saw some other places behind Red Door, I will be encouraging my friends to check these out rather than returning again.

Ew Red Door. This place probably epitomizes Fremont nightlife and why I hate it. I came here on a Friday night. It wasn't my idea. It was beyond crowded and a total frat club. This place is for post-college kids who miss greek row. The lines were way long and it just wasn't my scene. Maybe if this is your thing, you would have fun (the main reason I didn't give it one star). We didn't last very long and my boyfriend has never asked me to go to Fremont with him since.

Good happy hour, mediocre and unpredictable crowd, uninspired atmosphere and menu. Good stop on a hop, not a regular stomp.

  • Kathleen H.

When there's sun, this is a great place to sit outside, have a beer and devour a burger. In fact, I highly recommend skipping out on work and doing this in the middle of the workday. Or grab a table on the deck and people-watch the Fremont Sunday market crowd. They also have a pretty solid BLT on the menu.

This place has been around for ages and for good reason. The outdoor seating can't be beat, and the location is great. The food is tasty and they have lots of drinks to choose from. The one thing keeping this place from getting more stars is that the service tends to be very hit and miss. I've had good servers, but I've also had some pretty rude ones as well. Nothing sours a meal like bad service.

We came here on a late Friday night looking for drinks and some food. Their happy hour prices were awesome! The place was busy and as we sat ourselves, a waitress came up to our table quickly. Our drinks came out quick as did our appetizer food. Overall, service was great. I'd never had a mojito before, so I tried the coconut mojito and to say the least, I fell in love! It was simply delicious.. you can taste every flavor in the mixture and is very refreshing. The rest of the drinks were good too. I liked this place. There was a good mix of people-mostly younger but a variety of group mixes. Would return for sure!

I used to love this bar in college. They remodeled and moved... not the same bar. Not a bad bar, just not the same bar. Different crowd now, as I am older and no longer in college, I've outgrown it. The service is okay, the drinks okay. I think if you are in your early 20s, and are visiting/living in Seattle, you should definitely check it out. Watch out for the monster steps as you are leaving. That many steps for drunk people to navigate...not wise. I have a hard time even sober getting up those things.

I'm 25 and I was the oldest person at The Red Door last night. Trust me, I took a poll. All the babies from the late eighties were bronzed, glossed and ready to hit on and be hit on. If you dig frat parties, then you may like The Red Door just fine. I'll take my geriatric self elsewhere.

AWFUL service. Had a lady the other day take 25 minutes of us waiting on the patio for her to even come up and notice us. She had a terrible attitude and was rude to us from finish to start. Never going back because of how crappy she treated us. The food was solid and the beer selection was fine, they have a great patio, but I'm not planning on ever going back after such awful service.

The reviews don't lie. It's a classic place that's unfortunately plagued with horrible staffing. Sorry for the long review, but I felt that it was necessary. We tried the Red Door during Halloween weekend with around six of us. We understood the slow service since it was packed, but when that sympathy is met with hostility, well that's when reviews are born. Most of the staff was clearly new and had that "annoyed to be serving you" vibe. They had no experience handling that many patrons and it seemed that their temporary promotional staff was doing more work than the permanent help. A large reason I'm writing this review is because of the incident below. I recently moved to the area and have been recommending this place to friends. I'm an easy going guy and generally don't take things personally. I don't normally write bad reviews because I understand the service industry and all the junk that comes with it. But when you go out for a good time, make sure you drink just enough to feel good, treat everyone with respect and end up getting kicked out of a bar, well it's just a slap in the face. On this particular night, I was waiting in the men's bathroom line (yes there was a line). The guy to my right was playing with their revolving door (the one that leads to the kitchen) while in line for the bathroom, and the guy to my right stated that he worked there but was off shift. He quickly walked into the kitchen and asked someone to kick us both out. This was due to the fact that first guy slightly kicked the door and I guess he mentioned me probably because I was smiling and having a good time, (something people tend to do while going out supporting their local bars.) As I'm watching the unknown fellow get kicked out, I ask the young guy why he did it and he said he didn't think they'd kick him out. Well not only did they kick him out, they came back for me. I looked at him and said "really?" He starts to say "Andy, let him go, it's fine", but it is ignored. What he started is now manifesting into a huge ordeal. My friends come looking for me ended up watching me getting kicked out. While cooperating, I ask the employee why I'm getting kicked out and he says it's because I messed with a guy who worked there. He proceeds to tell me that they're going to do "last call" soon anyways and that my friends would be following me eventually. That argument might work for someone who frequently gets kicked out of bars but for someone who strives to see the best in people while supporting local businesses it's more like a "screw you." It felt like they were doing it for their own amusement. So for that Red Door, I thank you. I now know why your reviews are so bad on here. And will no longer be recommending your establishment to anyone.

Went to Red Door for lunch on Easter - it was a gorgeous day in Seattle so we decided on dining on the outdoor patio. The food was delicious (B.L.A.T. w/veg curry soup, house salad & Bloody Marys), but their service was noticeably slow. No water for 15 mins, and we finally had to get the server's attention to order and get our check. Worth going again simply for the food and outdoor seating, but service will be a gamble.

Food was very bad. The chicken on the asian salad was like jerky. The BLAT was so plain and boring... I think the kitchen was wayyy understaffed so the kitchen sort of screwed over the waitress who was actually very nice. Took almost an hour and a half to get a BLAT and a salad. Kind of a joke. PCC would have been a better choice.

Despite the ghetto bathroom, I enjoyed my experience here. After seeing all of the negative reviews, I'm convinced that it was the deliciously strong pomegranate margarita that I had that made me not notice or the wonderful company that I was with, but I thought it was a fun little spot! Service was good...I didn't know that they had food here or I may have not eaten before my arrival. It looked alright...pretty much like typical bar food. The carrots and hummus that I had were adequate...but then again, there's not much to do with regards to the preparation. As I said, the only gripe I had was with the ghetto bathroom. And possibly the lady who came into my stall to look for TP while I was in there. They had a sketchy looking shelf/table that was dirty and falling apart with an equally sketchy sign saying "Do not sit here." Don't think anyone would willing sit there unless they wanted to get tetanus or something. Fun little joint. Just get a tetanus shot before using their bathroom.

We came here on a Saturday night after a mariner's game. Pretty chill, no cover. It wasn't very crowded when we went, which was nice. Drinks were a little spendy, but their Happy Hour Food menu was bomb! We literally couldn't get enough of the manilla clams and hot wings that we can had to order more later. So yummy. I would like to visit this place during the day to try other food, because if their regular menu is anything like the bar menu, then we are in business. :)

It has been many years since I've been to the Red Door, but I just visited for lunch today. I had a steak fajita quesadilla, which was only so-so. By itself, that would rate no more than 3 stars, but I have some previous experiences that pop it up a notch, plus I enjoyed the ambiance and lightness in this space. I remember the old space well and it was much darker. One big bright spot in the old space was this was where I met my wife (Jan 1992) on a blind date. Of course, I'll always remember that. And the red door is still there!

I was out imbibing and it was necessary to get some grease in me. Believe it or not, I had never been here, so despite us being in Kirkland, we piled in one car and headed here. Without a wait, we managed to get a table in the back and quickly settled in. There were some skeezy looking folks at the front of the place, but there were no alarms going off back where we were. Nothing better than a greasy burger to satiate you after a night of imbibing. Lots of grease, lots of fries....mission accomplished. The food didn't come out quickly, but I don't really remember a lot, so things must have been decent.

Ordered some pear and the steamers combo for a pre-dinner start up. We ordered a pitcher of Manny's priced at $13.25. We also ordered a steamers combo which consisted of mussles and clams. It was pretty good. It came with a few pieces of sourdough bread. The ambiance is pretty chill... your typical bar, but nothing really stood out. We came here because the first place we wanted to go to was packed and had over an hour wait.

WARNING!!!!! DO NOT do business here and ABSOLUTELY DO NOT use your credit card here! I work for a large company in the area and we came to the Red Door for an event back in April. It was a casual event so no contract was required. At the end of the night, I handed them my credit card to pay for our group of 30+. Two months later a large charge appeared on my card for the same amount previously charged months before. I immediately contacted the Red Door and they told me it was error with their machine and error would be reversed. Weeks later, the charge was not reversed. I was then reassured by Pete Hanning the manager that the Red Door has taken this situation seriously and that it would be resolved. Pete then proceeded to tell me that he could not credit me back to my credit card and could only send me a check. I have emailed, called, even sent two Fed Ex labels for the Red Door to send us a refund check and have not received a response. It has been over 8 weeks. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried to resolve this between the two of us. I find it COMPLETELY SHADDY that they held my credit card number for months, and claim they can charge my credit card by accident but can't refund me. (See other reviews below. It seems that they have ripped off a slew of people. The Red Door needs to be reported to the Better Business Bureau for their misconduct) I highly recommend that people stay away from this establishment. I will never do a corporate event here again or recommend this place to anyone. I will be taking my business to Brouwer's Cafe. Their food, drinks, and atmosphere is better all around and at least I know Brouwer's Cafe believes in customer service and operating with integrity.

Despite the fact that there was douchebaggery all around us, the Red Door is a-ok in my book! Food: good, not amazing, but pretty good - my salad was a little wilty, but the flavour was yummy Drinks: also good Service: friendly and sorta prompt Atmosphere: hmm. That depends on where you're sitting Overall: Thumbs up Nice job, Red Door, you haven't let me down!

Realistically, 2.5 stars. Not because they did anything wrong, but because nothing stood out and in Seattle's various neighborhoods there are SO many outstanding food choices that we tend to grade a bit harshly sometimes. Can't blame us consumers though, your fellow Seattle restauranteurs simply set the bar very high. I do agree with Victoria C. that the tables were sticky and floors were grimy. Like when too much beer gets spilled over everything. Service was just fine, and lunch was fine as well. Nothing phenomenal, but the food was good and it filled our bellies until the next meal.

sorry did I just walk into a fraternity and sorority reunion? And am I the only girl not shit faced!!!!! WTF did you just ask me if I am tall enough to be here!? Wow really? ----- yes my friends even i felt out of place --- maybe this really isnt my scene, and maybe just maybe it was the night that i went here..... But fuck really ???!! Totally not my scene anymore and maybe with more shots of patron and some sedatives i would have had a better time but where i am in my life and my choices that i am going to make this place is not where i would like to see myself regretting them in lol.... Bleech. Been here a few times, and only once was it decent (late September on a Sunday night when nobody was around). On Friday/Sat night it's totally packed with barely enough room to breathe. The worst experience though was on a Sunday where I stopped in for lunch after doing the fair, and got a glass of water with DIRT ALL OVER THE RIM. After that, I shut the door on the Red Door.

First warm, sunny day in months, so we opted to sit on the patio at the Red Door, enjoying some iced tea and a wonderful lunch. The service was prompt and polished, everyone on point, all requests responded to with a smile. I had the incredible mushroom soup - best I've had in awhile! I asked for one of my usual sandwiches (bacon, lettuce and swiss, no mayo) and it was perfect. Great prices, too. I'll try the beer next time and just about everything on their food menu (it was hard to choose!).

I'm going to try to keep an open mind and not be too harsh on the Door. It's not even fair to compare it to the original Red Door, it's a completely different bar now. If you go on a weeknight its not bad, just be sure to avoid the Friday/Saturday crowd, unless you're in the market for a 'rack' of lamb or some pork 'sausage'. The owners and staff are cool when they're not having to deal with the meathead crowds, the food is decent and they have a good selection of beers and booze. Went back last night with a fun group and had a good time. In honor of Van Halen being in town the bartender played their 1978 classic Van Halen. That in itself earns them a 3rd star.

Every time I have been here this place is packed full of too many patrons and too few waitstaff and bartenders. I really dont like having to wait in line 10-15 minutes for a drink in a busy bar when the bartenders want to stop and have conversations with their friends and co-workers.

This is a boring little place with a ton of potential. First off, beautiful. Though a hodge-podge of style and decor, the place has a lot of charm, interesting lounge rooms for parties, and a killer location. The beer labels posted on the walls, though sloppy, are a nice touch, and the ceiling is gorgeous. This is where my praise will, however, stop. The menu is awful. Very little is even on the middle end of OK. Their beer list sucks, and they don't seem to serve any wine because people who I've gone with have said it is always stale or corked, and very, very cheap. They need to get someone in there that sees and knows what to do with the potential this place has. Also, don't even think of going on a weekend, it is white hat central. On the plus side, we usually get OK service... there's just really no reason to stay.

Sitting here this morning pondering which places from my lovely weekend get to be Yelped I looked down and found my answer just sitting in my lap... Now I usually eat EVERYTHING on my plate- tid bits of all other plates around as well. But yesterday for Sunday lunch I got so full of the SCRUMPTIOUS crab and artichoke dip, the heavenly salty Dicks-like fries, and half of my perfect Smoked Turkey sandwich that I was forced by my happy tummy to enjoy the sandwich for two whole lunches in a row! YEA! Our server was very attentive and sweet. It has been the second time I was at her table for lunch and both times she suggested and quickly brought over samples of beer to help me decide (ever adventurous but timid and indecisive as well). I probably will never check the Red Door out on a Friday or Saturday night after all of the amazing reviews on here, but it will remain one of my favorite mid week and Sunday after market lunch spots...... And now I am wishing the sandwich came in three halves because without those yummy fries and dip I am just not full....

I like coming here with a group of people, grabbing a table on the deck outside, and relaxing. The nice thing about this place,is that a variety of people come here and it's not as pretentious as the various haunts of Belltown. I've never tried the food, but the drinks are nice and strong, just the way I like them. The only bummer is that it takes forever to get your order taken care of on the weekends, even if you wear a low cut shirt and flirt with every bartender that comes your way. HIRE MORE STAFF!!!!

I stopped here for lunch one weekend and was very disappointed. The bar tender ignored me for about 15 minutes before he asked what I wanted to drink. It took another 10 minutes to get a menu and another 15 for him to take my order. Now... if the place was busy I could forgive him, but in this case he was just too busy chatting up the regulars at the other end of the bar. He was friendly enough and the food was good, I just hate being ignored.

this was actually my first introduction to the bar scene in seattle and ever since ive always had a slight affinity for this place. it isnt necessarily high on my list of joints to go for a beer. but when i find myself in the area, its the place im most familiar and comfortable with stopping by for a red hook and a fish and chips. ah the fish and chips. very very tasty at this place and at around 9 bucks, very affordable and quality for the price. they dont do that smooth breading style (the kind that looks like frozen fish fillets/hockey pucks) its very crunchy and thick, i like it that way. the atmosphere is laid back and unpretentious. just your everyday dockside pub/restaurant. the inside has a very warm and inviting bar to belly up to and a number of casual tables and booths for small groups of friends around it. it also has a nice deck overlooking the ballard ship canal which is a great place to sit and watch the boats float by. the service has always been great and the happy hour specials are decent. the crowd is a mix of young and old, neighborhoodies and passers through. ive never been on a weekend night but i can only assume its like other places in the area (ahem, douchy) from all of the cabbers and weekenders. again, this isnt a place i would go out of my way to stop by, but when im in the area or entertaining friends during happy hour, its a very safe, middle of the road establishment that will give you your moneys worth without the unnecessary dose of douchiness.

I almost always have fun here. I come at night for drinks. I come with friends. If I'm inside I have to have a table because it can get really crowded and hot. They have a great outdoor area which in the winter has this tarp window type deal to keep the heat in (they have heat lamps). The outdoor area has a bar! YAY!

Weekends are crowded and loud and service is less than good. If you find a spot to sit, guard it with your life. During the week at lunch, go for the burgers and fish & chips and enjoy the outdoor patio in sunny weather.

In all fareness, I will start by saying that I've never been there except for on a weekend nite. They could be great during a weekday, but man, its horrible when I go!!! SOOO packed with post college peeps that just moved straight up from Tommys to here. You cant even move...... let alone get to the bar, catch the attention of a bartender, get a drink AND THEN move with the drink. Once again, maybe theyre great and I should give em a try for lunch.

I've lived in Seattle for many years, and have finally made it to the Red Door in Fremont. And boy have I been missing out! A hip and generally quick service; a perfect place for a quick snack for two or a group get-together. The happy hour menu is one of my favs! The outdoor seating is also plentiful and covered for when it rains.

Popular hangout with the twenty-something crowd...get there early if you wanna grab a table...to keep your stronghold I suggest spilling a glass of water on the table, call it a sticky marg...that should keep 'em away for a bit. Good beer selection, the Guinness is good but not stellar. On a Saturday night I'm reminded of a Southern California frat party...ladies you're gonna be outnumbered 5 to 1...let the games begin. Cheers!

We go as a group of girls to have fun. Some of us have pretty serious boyfriends and like going on a excursion to the Red Door once in a while. We make sure we sit at the bar and not the part by the door- drafty and not fun. This placement has yielded, on two separate occasions, plates of fries and free drinks from both the bartender and gentlemen. The giving of the items has always been in a low-key way and makes us smile. We usually talk to many different types of people and have many laughs. We are not there to be picked up or pick up on anyone so it makes the whole situation just innocent. The bartender are quick with drink orders and have local and divey beers on tap. The covered and semi heated outside can be a fun location once in a while when out with a multi gender group. I always seem to run into people from high school here- which can be weird or nice. In the summer, the girls do start to dress a little showy and the crowd changes a bit. In the winter, there seems to be all ages and people willing to talk to each other- unlike other bars in the area. If you feel like being social go the Red Door.

It's a good place to go if you just want a couple beers and chat with your friends. As a restaurant, their fare (unless you want a burger or grilled cheese) has something to be desired. I'm not sure how they did this, but they once managed to make a BLT into something that just wasn't, well, edible.

The Red Door. It never fails to entertain. Depending on when you go you can find an atmosphere of partying and cavorting, or you can run into a chill afternoon drinking session. I can't quite decide if I like the Red Door or I like it but don't want to admit that I do OR I just think that I like it but really deep down I wish everyone there would find something a tiny bit more interesting chat about. I'll get back to you on that.

This place is alright, but nothing spectacular. It's packed at night on the weekends, and becomes just like any other loud sorta trendy bar. The ambiance is a step above a sports bar, but certainly could be more interesting. They have a room set aside with some lit glass tables that are kind of cool, but that's where the originality ends. My main issue with the place is that I have eaten here three times, and have been disappointed with each experience. The last time it was the turkey sandwich. You know you wouldn't think a turkey sandwich wouldn't be all that hard, but I was not impressed. The meat itself tasted like lunch meat (which it likely was). The menu said there would be avocado on it and made no mention of onions. They had quacamole and onions on it. Annoying, guacamole has avocado in it, but it is way better to just have some slices of avocado than guac. And I hate onions... if you make it a point to indicate that there are tomatoes, lettuce, and mayo on a sandwich, why not let us know there are onions? I barely touched the thing and the waitress didn't seem to notice or care. And there you have it.

So Ive come here many times before and have always gotten decent service and good stiff drinks. Definitely a consideration when thinking about places to get tossed on a Friday night. Recently, however, there was an incident where they double charged my credit card for the exact same amount several weeks from whence i was there last. I called in to the red door and was greeted by the office manager Margie (i believe it was Margie) - anyways she was nice enough and explained that they had a meltdown of their system and it double charged a gang of people from that night. In any case she assured that they would resolve it promptly and I would see my reimbursement in a few days. Its been about 9 or 10 days now and i still have yet to see my reimbursement. My other friends who also got double charged have been trying in vain to get any results from the Red Door and have instead resorted to calling their respective banks/CC companies - and have urged me to do the same. For shame Red Door - the demographic that comes through your doors aren't the type to easily dismiss a $50 dollar fraudulent charge. When you deal with people's money it should be handled urgently and with utmost priority.

Returned for the first time in a long time. Service was great and fast. I also loved the salad with real greens. The regulars were extremely friendly while watching the Falcons-Niners game.

Okay, so I'm sitting at the Red Door at happy hour on a Wednesday and there's no indication of the service problems or frat pack infestations that seem to have plagued so many reviewers. Timing must count for a lot because all I see are small clusters of after-work folks from Google and Getty Images here. Seated at the bar I've got decent service, tasty beer, and actually a pretty great salad with beets and bleu cheese. The pulled pork sliders, on the other hand, while a decent deal at happy hour, are nothing remarkable. This time of year the ample deck is pretty useless but I'm down with the cozy and unpretentious pub inside. Certainly the beer selection is no comparison to Brouwer's nearby but I don't always feel like the gothic cave atmosphere there. I guess if I happened into the Red Door and it was as overrun with nasty people as some have described it I'd move on. That just hasn't been my experience. It's a nice place for a good beer and proper pub food - that's really all I ask!

Great beer*, good food, shitty service. We were 2, got a table at ~8 PM on Saturday and waited for 30 minutes without a peep. The place wasn't even full. At the 30-minute mark, I walked up to the waitress handling the adjacent table, and she said she was slotted to our table too, and came by 5 minutes later. Dropped off menus, disappeared for another 15. Took our orders and then disappeared. No cutlery. No water to drink. We got our beers (good!) at ~9 PM. We got served someone else's food. After calling that out, we finally got our own food around 9.15 PM - with no way but bare hands to eat them. No apologies anywhere, no nothing. This is by far the shittiest service I have ever received in any restaurant worldwide (and I have eaten enough times in restaurants in Paris & Switzerland :)) ... by US standards, this was incredibly piss poor. Heck, even in Paris, this wouldn't fly - the food isn't anything to write home about. I got a side of mayo and that cost $0.50 too ... really? For what it's worth, my waitress was "Morgan M" at Table 7, a 20-something white girl. I won't be going back there, and neither should you. * (for Fremont Oktoberfest on 09/24/2011)

I went to the Red Door on Friday night and after about 11pm it was packed. Around midnight we decided to leave when I realized I never got my card back, not to mention the waitress never even came back after the initial first round. I went back in , ended up asking 4 people that worked there for my card but every single one said to ask someone else or couldn't find it. I gave up since they were ignoring me and decided to just get it the next day when there would be less people. My friends advised me to get it back but I wasnt about to waste the rest of my night trying to hunt someone down. The bouncer said he would look for it and came back with nothing and said I wouldn't get charged if I left it. Came back the next day and it charged an extra 18% gratuity since I "left" my card there. In my opinion they deserved no tip and scammed me.

Just okay...It is usually pretty full and takes some time to get service at peak times. Food is hit or miss, today mine was great but my husband's sandwich had a lil salmon fillet on a big ole' bun. Nobody wants to eat 65% bun...nobody I tell ya. Also, to compensate there was 1/4 head of cabbage slaw on top. So, after some adjustments (ie cabbage scrape) it was fine. A perk is the delicious coffee & RC Cola on tap.

We went here with a small group of colleagues during lunch on a workday. The waitress seemed to be stressed and had a bit of an attitude from the beginning. It took excessively long to take our order and prepare the food, such that we ended up asking for it to go. A request that was rejected as the kitchen was allegedly so busy that they couldn't be bothered to put the food in a box rather than on a plate and we were told to do that ourselves. When we insisted, of course it was still possible to place our sandwiches in boxes, but apparently not without literally dumping the boxes on the table. In hindsight, I regret that I even left 10% tip. The service didn't deserve any. Too bad, the place is actually a decent pub for catching a soccer match and I need options in Fremont for the World Cup. The food was ok. Not bad but nothing special.

Ok so here's the deal. For lunch, the food is pretty good and the deck is super nice in the summer time. On Friday and Saturday nights however, it turns into a packed, sweaty, frat-boy herpe nest. Really gross. No pool tables. No dance floor. No juke box. SUUUUUPER long lines to get a drink. I know a lot of people that love this place on the weekend and I just don't get it. This place gets a 3 for food and a 2 for weekends.

The Red Door is a tale of two bars. I've been here several times over the years since the move to the new location a block away. It's usually the same. If you go from open until 7 pm the place is a nice place to grab bite to eat, a beer or drink and watch the game with ample seating and good service. From the evening until close however, it turns into a frat party with a young, meat market type crowd, a lot of them having wandered on over from nearby SPU. I've always had good food here. The burgers are large and juicy. There are lots of good happy hour food options. For beer nerds the menu offers up extra info. There is always a rotating Beer of the Month at a discounted price. It's usually a seasonal, local one. The space features large windows which is nice on a sunny day. Even nicer is the big patio to lounge on a sunny afternoon after the Freemont Market. Some reviews have complained about the service but I've always had good luck. The waitresses I've had have been friendly, engaging and responsive. In the evenings, especially on Friday and Saturday of course, the place gets PACKED. It's not usually my type of scene, but it can be fun if you're in the mood for a college type of crowd. I don't remember the Red Door being like this back in it's old location but maybe it was. I was of college age at the time I went in there so maybe I didn't notice. On the plus side these days, it gets loud but never annoyingly so. The bartenders are still fast friendly even when it's crowded.

*cringe* I can't believe I'm about to write this. I can't believe I'm about to admit in public, on the internet, where nothing ever goes away...ok I just have to do it. Like ripping off a band-aid, right? I've been hanging out at the Red Door. A lot. See? I told you it was bad. Mention the Red Door to Fremont residents and mostly we will roll our eyes and mutter something about frat parties and popped collars. It's the kind of place that you stay away from on a Saturday night unless you go to UW and didn't want to pay for a cab to take you all the way to Belltown. But you know what? A lot of those people have gone away for the summer, leaving the deck at the Red Door unattended. And it's a lovely deck. They've got a retractable roof, an outdoor bar and a lovely beer selection. The servers are incredibly nice and the food menu during HH is cheap and varied. They've recently changed up their food menu and I have yet to try it so I can't speak to that but I'm sure it's your standard bar fare. I still won't be caught dead there on a weekend night and once fall arrives and the potential for patio drinking fades away, I probably won't be caught dead there at all. For now though...you know where to find me.

Okay...With the exception of Friday and Saturday nights...I really like this place. I like their French dip, the sliders are perfect, and I even like the wings( I usually don't do meat that you have to bite off of the bone). Um, and if I am feeling truly indulgent... CHILI CHEESE FRIES. The bartenders are great, especially Nate:) Great happy hour or regular prices, on food and drink. If you are over the age of 23, however, avoid this place at all costs on Friday and Saturday nights. Holy drunken college shitshow.

Oh hello fast, impeccable service. Hello Cheap drinks. Hello cheap Appetizers. And a special hello to YOU, Mac n Cheese. Dericious. You saved me from getting too, for lack of a better word... WASTED. I'm still discovering a lot of Seattle bars and I was starting to give up hope, I'm so bored of the same old stuff. Im tired of clubs and sleezy/poorly dressed girls. This place gives me hope. The bartendars arent douche bags and the servers are pleasant, I don't ever expect pleasant servers at bars... which is understandable, but when you do get a nice server it's like icing on the cake. The bar itself is nicely set up. theres two of 'em! which makes it great for packed nights, but unforutanately they still get backed up. I liked seeing all the happy people, nice clientel. I guess this means more bar hopping and less clubbing for me. :)

I was super disappointed when I made an attempt to grab dinner here. My wife and I stopped in an hour or two prior to the start of Fremont First Friday Art Walk and the traffic at The Red Door was moderate, but certainly not what would be considered as busy. We noticed the 'seat yourself' sign and proceeded to grab a table in the bar area. The one other couple that was in the bar area was being given menus as we walked in and that was the last time that we saw a server. We never recieved menus and after 15-20 minutes at the table and not getting so much as a 'hello' or a 'be right with you' from even the bartender we decided to seek out another establishment for chow. Note: The server who had given menus to the other couple in the bar area had not even returned to take their order in that time either. I do think we might give this place another shot and if so I will improve the rating if the visit merits it. From this experience at The Red Door I would advise you to try out one of Fremont's other pubs or restaurants first. **UPDATE** After my shoddy experience at The Red Door and then seeing the issues posted in other reviews...there is no way I am stepping foot back in this joint.

First of all, I don't belong here in the first place. A. Music? No bueno B. Age range? 21-24 C. Wasn't drunk To not be drunk at 11pm surrounded by a LOT of drunk 22 yr olds dressed up as "slutty whatever" on Halloween night is difficult for an old, sober 36 yr. old to deal with. Feel me? Like I said, this is spot isn't for me. But if you are under 25, looking to get wasted and wake up in a strange place the next morning, welcome to heaven!

Great atmosphere!!!! After a long day at Seafair & the heat bringing me to exhaustion we decided to visit this place & enjoy the happy hour. The outside bartenders were amazing & this place was a great place to cool down. I cant wait to come back! :-)

The beer was good, the food was ok, but the service was not. I still left what I thought was a reasonable tip, %18, but the server decided to add another 50 cents. It's not really the amount that annoys me, it's the principle of deciding someone owes you more and thinking you won't get caught. This one bad server probably doesn't reflect the whole establishment, but I've never had this happen anywhere else.

Although I frequent many happy hour joints in Fremont (mainly because I work there), there are very few that I really like. Red Door just happens to be one of those that I do recommend. It's located right across from a PCC, noticeable by the big red "R" in front of the establishment. It's very well lit because of the natural light, and the service is usually on it! The servers are very friendly and attentive. The patio is one of the best places to chill out on in Fremont during the summer. Both the patio and the inside dining area are very spacious. I've been here during happy hour and also during late night, and this place can get packed during both times. The food is excellent! For lunch, I recommend the half sandwich, salad, and cup of soup or chili. Oh, and the chili just happens to be the best I've tried so far in Seattle.....seriously. They load that chili up with cheese and onions (if you want) and it comes out piping hot and ready to consume. It's not oily/greasy like at other places either. Like I said, not too many happy hour Fremont joints come too highly recommended by yours truly, but Red Door just happens to be one exception. Be sure to pay them a visit.

Meh. Service was mediocre, despite it not being that busy. My friend's drink was tiny (imagine a vodka tonic served in a shot glass) for some odd reason. And several of our dishes had fries that were almost cold. I like that there's lots of room here, unlike so many of the tiny and cramped places in Fremont, but otherwise just mediocre. A good place for lunch should you happen to work in Fremont, though. Pretty good sandwich/burger choices.

Each year the service gets worse and worse, no wonder this place is empty on a Saturday night. We came with some designated drivers, who ordered water from the waitress when the rest of us ordered drinks. I guess they don't like to serve water to people. We had to ask several times for the non-alcholic drinks. When the checks finally arrived, people on opposite side of the table drinks were on each others tabs. It was a painful experience coming here with our group.

I only visited the Red Door in its original location a few times before they moved, so I don't the strong emotional ties to it like some people I know. But in its current incarnation, for me it's a fine destination for happy hour or weekend lunch, particularly when the weather's nice. Because the Red Door has one of the best patios in the city. It's an expansive, sunny spot with a dedicated bar that's elevated enough that you're not huffing exhaust fumes. Plus, it has a nice awning that lets you enjoy the great outdoors even if the weather's a bit drizzly (and the patio's open, of course). The only drawback is you have to be johnny on the spot to snag a table when the sun's shining. It's not uncommon for folks to play hooky just to ensure a patio table once the temperature starts cracking 75. Take the patio out of the equation, and you have a pretty typical pub with a decent selection of food and drink to keep anyone happy. Happy hour aside, it's also a frequent place to unwind after a bike ride that involves the Burke-Gilman, as it's on the way home from the usual rendezvous point at Gasworks. Nothing like riding the last few miles uphill with a belly full of sliders and a couple pints of Manny's.

Apparently nobody believes in day drinking in Fremont because my friend and I wandered the streets in search of a happy hour at 4pm and were disappointed to find that most places didn't seem to start theirs til 5. The Red Door's is from 3-6 and while they don't have a ton of food specials, the $3 fries are definitely a good choice. They also have four sliders for $5 which would have been a great idea had I not just eaten lunch. ALSO: gravenstein cider. Seriously, I'm not much of a cider girl, or even much of an apple girl, but gravenstein apples take the cake in any apple competition ever. No, seriously, they bake REALLY WELL into cakes. And make for a deliciously light and refreshing cider. Get it get it get it.

I always have a good time here. There is a lot of room to move around. Especially if it's nice, there's an outside patio and bar. On the weekends, there a good crowd, but it doesn't get too packed. Well stocked bar and fast service! If you go for food, try the chicken wings! Pretty tasty! Our nachos weren't cooked all the way last time, but the fries were good and come with a delicious Garlic aoili dipping sauce. Waiter was super nice, fast and check on ur frequently. No dedicated parking lot, but usually street parking can be found within a block or two.

Meh. This place has either gone way downhill or my undergrad eyes were deceived. It's not what it used to (appeared to) be. Getting to be on the divey side with sticky tables, dated furniture and dishes, grimy floors, etc. Over-run with college kids. You know you're old when you start to think everyone looks like your little sister. Food is meh. Not bad. Not great. But the happy hour hot wings are pretty tasty ($5 for 8). I come here b/c it's close to my bf's work. It's in a good spot.

After walking around the fremont market for a couple of hours, six of us decided to try and find some food close by. The Red Door was right in front of us, so why not. We seated ourselves by the front door and grabbed a few menus. After about ten minutes, a lady walked over, said she had seen us, but it would be about five more minutes before she could get to us. Okay, we'll hang out. So five minutes later she takes our orders and five minutes after that we get our drinks. We suck those down quickly and need some refills, but our lady is nowhere to be found. Oh wait, there she is....wait, there she goes. Long story short, we had horrible service from the lady. The bartender guy was a little more helpful, but not much. I wasn't given all my change back, but I figure the .75 cents she kept was her way of making sure she got a tip. The $5 side of fries were okay, but not worth the $5 in my opinion. Seriously this felt like we were on that MTV show boiling point, but we never got $100 when we left. Literally the worst service I've ever had and no one working there ever apologized. They basically expected us to deal with their lousy service.

I was there for a nice lunch out with work friends. The atmosphere was comfortable, the menu decent and the alcoholic beverage selection fantastic. They offered a guest beer which I really enjoyed. I can't recall the name, but it was a smooth German lager served in very tall pint glass. I got their special lunch item which, while tasty, I found lacking in spice. It was advertised as a 5 pepper Philly. I guess it might have been my fault to assume the peppers would make it hot. But, that's what anyone would think right? I would definitely go there again. Next time I'll try the black bean burger, which a couple of my coworkers really enjoyed. I also hear this place is hoppin' in the evening. If I lived in Fremont I might make it a habit to go.

I really don't know what to make of it. I wish there had been room on the patio for us. Somehow, an open window just didn't quite do the trick. It's an okay spot for an afternoon drink and/or to watch a game on one of their TVs, but there isn't much else that stands out. The menu cocktails tipped out at about $8, which isn't terrible but they weren't anything special. If I wanted a simple drink, I would have ordered a well, but I was on vacation. Splurging is what I do. The service was a little odd. The server seemed a little flustered, by no fault of our own. It happens, I guess. Food appeared to be a step-up from Applebees, plus the decor and atmosphere is much better. I just wish we'd been able to get a hold of a table on the patio.

Hm, I spent my 21st birthday here for absolutely no reason other than Fremont being close to the U-District so friends could travel easier. The only part of the crowd I liked were of course, the party that was with me but other than that, these guys are a little ... suspect. The bouncer was sweet to me though insisting that I go up to the bartender and ask for a drink on the house for my birthday but I couldn't even get up the nerve. It sounded too pretentious to demand a drink! Pro: No cover charge, decent drinks + fast service (if you're a girl), outdoor patio Cons: Way too popular. Places lose their appeal if everyone thinks its the new hot spot. I guess I was a newbie too though. For the most part, I enjoyed myself with my friends but if they weren't with me, I think I would have wanted to get out of there pronto to hit a place that wasn't so "I'm too cool, this is where all the cool kids go" vibe.

What I am...is a fan of Red Door! The place is great to go to any time of year. On warmer Seattle days, you can sit outside on the patio, colder days, it's a great place inside. It's great to go with a friend or large group, they can accommodate all sizes. It's a casual fun bar and they have really good food. They have a good selection of drinks, the servers are nice, and well....the food is yummy! The prices are decent and the venue is large and comfortable. If you are in the area for lunch, it's a good spot to grab a bite to eat as well. They have a variety of vegan, vegetarian, and meat burgers and sandwiches, and their fries and salads are good!

No cover! That is always a plus. Even though this place is usually packed with a lot of the greek houses from good ol' WSU. I still can often count on seeing a few familiar faces in the crowd which is always a welcome sight. The Red Door really epitomizes a lot of what I look for in a bar; plenty of seating, decent prices, large selection of beers and a full bar. I really couldn't ask for more. Or can I? I mean, really...It was the Apple Cup and they had to have had some of the slowest and worst waitresses I have had the horror of experiencing. We were there for the game from beginning to end and only got served a total of two times? We had to purposely order double just to keep the alcohol coursing through our veins to deal with the horrible service and to keep the excitement of the game alive. The place was nowhere near full! Unbelievable. Days like those make me second guess coming back...

Updating to report on the NACHOS: Red Door nachos are pretty good, but not perfect. Our portion was *huge* (more than enough for 2) and the cheese application was liberal. Tons of jalapenos, green onions, and a teeny bit of black olives. You can add guacamole (just ok) & cilantro sour cream (yum) on the side, but you'll probably need some additional SC - the dollop they provide ain't gonna cut it. The side salsa was just alright. Pluses: the chicken we added was moist & tasty, the chips were salty & crispy, and the cilantro sour cream was a good dipper Minuses: cheese not melted everywhere - I hate when I can still see/taste clearly defined, cold shreds - the toppings were not exactly evenly distributed, and where were those black olives again? Good to order in a pinch, but not something I'd crave.

Reading over some of the other reviews for the Red Door, it seems like you could figure out that you should go there on a weekend night if you're looking for a frat party and any other time if you want a good meal. So I won't spend time talking about the dual personality of the Red Door and instead, here's what *I* love about it: -Hearty, basic, good bar food. Unlike many bars in Seattle, this place doesn't try to class itself up - you go here for a beer and a really solid fill-in-the-blank BBQ or grilled sandwich. And it's solidly delicious. -Both cider and Guinness on tap while not serving Irish food. -The fries are awesome, and I can't think of many other places in Seattle you can get them served with chili and grated cheese (clutch in good chili-cheese fries. -Larger groups can almost always get a table without any wait at all if arriving before nine or ten. -The outside patio. It's friggin sweet when it's warm enough. -Conveniently located for starting a bar crawl in Fremont.

Right after I moved to Seattle, I met a guy who was in town on business. He wanted to meet up for a drink and asked me where we should go. I'd been to the Red Door once for lunch once and it seemed like a pretty chill place so I met him there that night. Turns out it's really not a great place for a date - especially not a first date! (OK, maybe if it was a lunch date...) Nighttime at this place can be pretty frenetic - it's way too loud and the clientele is mostly just drunk people hitting on each other. If you're looking for a little action this could be a great starting point for your quest. But not if you actually want to talk to someone. Great beer, though!

We came here post-game after ASU crushed Locker's draft hopes. We were meeting some ASU alumni here. I didn't find anything particularly remarkable about this place. The location was interesting. Drinks were drinks. The one story I have of this place is their undercover bouncers. We had this guy just come up to us and start talking to us for like 5 minutes. We didn't understand what was going on, and eventually, he asked one of our friends if he "wanted to go outside". There were three of us, and the two of us who were not asked were creeped out. I asked the stranger to leave my friend be, and he said "I think he needs to go outside". Me: "What, are you a bouncer or something?" Stranger: "Yes". Me: "What the hell, why didn't you say so when you came up here, instead of hitting on my friend, you creeper!" Stranger: "...time for your friend to go". Me: "Don't touch him, I'll take care of it". Just a bizarre exchange. In retrospect, I'm not sure if he was a bouncer. But my friend did need to go, he was totally hamboozled. So yeah...Red Door. Get some. But not from undercover 'bouncers'.

had the b.l.a.t. for lunch a little over a week ago. Great thick cut bacon and rye bread. My avocado started to turn a bit. It was a little overpriced and it took a while but there was 9 of us. I also ordered an ice tea.. tasted blah.. like instant.

It's unfortunate that such an awesome space leaves such a lukewarm impression. I don't know what exactly I didn't like about the Red Door. I just know it felt uncomfortable, service was sterile, and there was almost nothing remarkable about my experience here, aside from the company I was with. Drinks were mediocre, beer selection was not to my taste, and the food I mooched off of Matthew's plate was just okay (although I did eat a lot of it...and dfens dan's fries, too). The space itself does indeed rock: A huge barn-like structure, high ceilings, a big deck with a bar and heat lamps. The crowd reminded me of college but even less interesting and the service was not much different. I might pick this place for a large party but with places like Nectar around the corner and some other large lounge/restaurants in the immediate vicinity, The Red Door is not a place I would be inclined to visit again.

Red Door is full of stuck up hippies, douche bag dudes, and dumb babbling chicks. The food is pretty good, yes ...Along with happy hour prices. The server we had at lunch one day was pretty slow and seemed either scattered or just clueless. For some reason she had to take our debit card when we were paying with cash in order to get us drinks to go along with our lunch. Ended up not giving it back after we forgot that we had to given it to her. And it took for ever for her to come check up on us even though she was walking around the section we were sitting in. Definitely a meat market scene which can be quite annoying.

My wife at here on Sunday(4/18/2010). Here's what she had to say about her awful experience there: I rate this with ZERO STARS! We went here on a Sunday. One of my friends recommended the place because the crab melt was really good. Two of my friends tried to order the crab melt, but apparently, they did not have any crab that day. No crab in Seattle? What was that about??? Besides that, the waitress seemed very impatient, and we felt rushed ordering our food. I ordered a coke and the tuna salad sandwich. The sandwich tasted fine, but I've had better. After our meal, my coke was close to being finished, when I noticed something in the bottom of the glass. I picked for it with my straw, but to find the most disgusting green, slimy thing. We could not identify what it was. We took a closer look and it had little hairs in it!!! GROSS!!! I'm 13 weeks pregnant, and looking at it made me puke! I had to rush to the bathroom and vomit my whole meal! IT WAS THE MOST DISGUSTING THING!!! The waitress came and cleared out our dishes and said she was going to find out where it came from. She finally came back and tried to tell us that she didn't know what it was or where it came from. She did say that she looked at the ice machine and didn't see anything. She said it may have been from the dishwasher! How gross is that??? Whether it's from the ice machine or dishwasher, the place is disgusting and dirty. She didn't charge me for my meal, but if it came from the ice machine or dishwasher, no customer should be paying for dirty food. She apologized, but no sincere apology. The manager did not even come to apologize. We obviously did not tip her. We walked by our waitress before we left, and she did not even acknowledge us at all. Not only does Red Door have awful service, they have the most DISGUSTING AND DIRTIEST FOOD I have ever eaten in. I'm NEVER EVER going back there again and would NEVER RECOMMEND it to anyone!!! Pros: NONE

Weeknights: Great! Weekends: Not worth the trouble. I wish I could trade the Red Door in for a Matador or a Bal Mar. Fremont needs a place with pool tables and/or small plates thats a little more upscale. A place with no covers, plenty of seating and consistently good food and drink.

I had mixed feelings about this place when I left but after sitting on it for awhile I realized I really didn't enjoy myself while here. At first the waitress was nice and polite but as our time went on, and the place got busier, she got more and more rude. When it came time to order food, the waitress made a really rude remark about my order and said she'd be back with a pen to write it down. When she came back she didn't have a pen with her but said "ok, now I can listen to your ridiculous order with full attention." I didn't feel my order was that outrageous. I ordered a BLT with no tomato or mayo. She might have been having a bad day but I still didn't feel it was appropriate. When it came, the bacon was overcooked and cut so thick it scraped the roof of my mouth. If I come back here I won't be ordering it again. The tables in the place were really close together as well. I felt trapped since I couldn't get out of my seat without practically climbing over other people's tables. Mediocre food and not so great atmosphere means I probably won't be back.

The food I actually got here was pretty good-- the appetizer of manilla clams that my dad and I split was excellent, in fact. The seared tuna sandwich I got for my main dish was also good. This service, however, was by far the worst I've experienced in my life. I wasn't sure if our server was high or what. She came to our table, and poured us water. She did not notice that I had my super expensive Canon DSLR on the table, and almost spilled water on it. It was only saved by me grabbing it out of the way quickly-- she never noticed. She took our order and didn't write it down, but made us repeat it a few times. She probably should have written it down. We got our clams fairly quickly, but she almost never came back to give us more water/drinks. After that, we didn't see her for a long time. She kept walking by, but avoiding our gaze. Eventually (maybe 45 minutes after serving us our clams?) she came over and told us our food would be done soon. She double-checked that I had ordered a sandwich, and my dad had ordered a salad. We confirmed, but were skeptical that she knew what was going on. About 15 minutes after that, she arrived with the entirely wrong food. A sandwich and salad, yes, but not the ones we ordered. She mumbled something about how "they must have ordered it" and wandered away. She just put the plates down on an empty table and left them there. A group actually came in and left because they thought all the tables were full. Another 15 or so minutes later, we got our actual food. This was more than an hour after we had gotten our clams. At that point, I was sipping on the remaining broth to try to stave off hunger. We came very close to leaving. We heard her tell a couple that she couldn't seat them because she was too busy, as she continued to wander and pace around not doing much of anything, but instead just avoiding the customers. The plates were still at the empty table. We didn't get another check-in or drink refill before we flagged her down for the bill. She gave us our bill, and we left. Those clams were delicious, but wow.

I'm still dumbfounded by the bizarre service my friend and I received here the other day. While it was pretty clear they were under-staffed, the staff that was present couldn't be bothered to do much of anything. My friend and I sat down at a table and then chatted idly for 30 minutes before we even received menus. It was like pulling teeth to get anyone on the floor to so much as look our way. The food's pretty decent, though. I ordered (surprise, surprise) the French dip: hearty au jus, decent roast beef with a nice amount of Swiss on a hoagie (which was a little dry for my liking). But overall, pretty good. And the fries? Perfectly seasoned. Add another point for offering a very decent HH daily. The worst kind of restaurant service is the kind that requires desperate, plaintive stares at the servers for attention. I suggest the Red Door adopt my fail-proof restaurant service model: you give me a menu; I select a few items; you deliver them to me; I thank you and pay for your service and food. Ta da! Everyone's happy.

A little confused by the reviews of this place as a restaurant. I have never been to Red Door when the sun is out. To me this place is a bar. I give it 4 stars because it is replete of cougars and wannabes. The drinks are pretty stiff, but the service is a mixed bag. Pretty good service at the bar, sometimes not so good when service at a table. Foodwise- it's standard bar food, which I would give 3 stars.

I think expectations for Red Door always run higher than they should. It's a great place for food, and especially for securing some tables at night and having some fun conversations with friends, but it's not much more than that. The decor is pretty nice, with a lot of TV's scattered around showing football or UFC; that's both a plus and a minus, as it gives d-bags an excuse to hang out and eye the girls in your group at the same time. However, the drinks are pretty strong, especially the Long Islands. (Bad idea to give two to a girl before you know her tolerance). Overall, the Red Door is a fairly decent place, just don't expect much, and watch out if you're there at D-Bag Happy Hour time.

If there isn't a line, The Red Door is the perfect place to catch a game in a nice setting. The Red Door opens to an open and clean interior. With high ceilings, hints of red lighting, and two flat-screen TVs playing ESPN, The Red Door sets the mood for a great night. It can get extremely crowded by the end of the night, so it might be a good idea to get there early, and leave early if crowds aren't your scene. There's also a great outdoor patio that's insulated on colder nights, and open on warmer nights. It's a great extension of an already great bar, and prevents the bar from getting unbearably hot. The draught selection here is great, and with pitchers under $15, I can't really complain about the prices. They have a great Hefeweizen on tap, along with Guinness and Mac & Jack. For food, I tried the Cascade Platter (vegetables, pita bread, and hummus) and the Large Plate of Handcut Fries with Chili and Cheese. The hummus platter was forgettable and didn't come with enough pita bread. The fries, however, were the perfect accompaniment to the beer. The chili, cheese, and fries were all perfectly cooked and came in a generous portion. I haven't had chili cheese fries this good in a long time. The menu has plenty of other food items that I'm looking forward to trying next time. The Red Door is a door everyone should open at least once. GET: Hefeweizen, Large Plate of Handcut Fries with Chili and Cheese

WOW I'm glad I didn't eat here after reading all the reviews but they do server beer in a ice cold mug so three stars it is. I would come back for a few if I was in the neighborhood.

L A M E This is how the reddoor gets it patrons: a) Hey guys I just turned 21 (or I just got a fake id) lets go drinking. b) Yeah man that is sweet I know just the place a) Oh really what is it? b) The mother frickinnnnnn Reeeeeeedddddd Dooooooor a) awesome! 2 years go by with these frat dudes hanging out there then they wise up and go someplace that doesn't suck. So there are 2 reasons to go here: 1) you are an idiot and don't know better. 2) you are a woman and want free drinks. aka teach the people in catagory 1 a leason.

Every restaurant in Fremont was packed on Friday at about 7pm. I and the bf were starving and wanted to sit down and have a bite and a beer before embarking upon the madness of Honkfest West. After trying 3 different joints who were all full to capacity we found that Red Door was surprisingly not full. There were two tables available by the window so we grabbed one immediately. I noticed that just after we got our spot, a few more crowds came in so maybe we were lucky. In any case, I looked around to see if I could figure out why Red Door was the only bar in Fremont that wasn't stuffed...hmmm...people looked a bit older than us (40's) and pretty mainstream in appearance...heh...I'm none to judge (yea, right) but I told my bf that we'd found The Loser Bar. Oh well, we had an awesome seat where you could see all the Fremont mish mash strollin' by on a Friday nite. 1st on the agenda: beer. They had a pitcher of something red on special. None of the other taps seemed all that interesting so why not give it a shot. And its almost 6%. Sweet. Next up...getting the waitresses attention. I batted my eyelashes her way and bam! Beer ordered. Its like she felt my eyeballs' heat on the back of her head. #2 on the agenda: FOOD. The bf and I both tend to become bitchy when not fed regularly. I also tend to not be able to make a decision in this situation. We end up getting the pulled pork sandwich and the fish and chips. Maybe because they were both boxed in red on the menu, I don't know, but bbq was definitely on my mind and fish & chips are also one of my staple bar entrees. The fish & chips were overly-battered in my opinion, but the batter had an interesting taste to it. Not entirely my cup of tea, but the bf devoured them. The fries were insanely good. I pretty much concentrated on the pulled pork sandwich and green salad. The bf and I both decided the pork was more sweet than what we were used to, but that the meat was done right. So we were sittin' pretty, watchin' the crowd, enjoying our full tummies and our heads becoming lighter from the red beer. But then I think the waitress (only seemed to be one for our whole side) forgot us. It became quite busy and I couldn't help but notice that the guys behind us were becoming louder with each guzzle of their drinks. Douche bag is what you would call them. Actually, the whole room got incredibly loud. There was music playing, a Mariner's game on and then a crowd of douchey drinkers. Get me the f*** outta here now. Finally we get the bill. Its a bit more than what the food/drink was worth in my opinion, but hey, now we had enough to keep us goin' strong and check out the zany marching bands at Honkfest. All in all, I'd come back--but only if the rest of Fremont was full.

Went for Happy Hour after work. ~ Drink was ok ~ Food was ok ~ Waitress wasn't outgoing, but wasn't rude either ~ Gets pretty loud when it's busy, but not annoying. - Lunch food prices the one time I went to check them out for lunch were very pricey compared to other lunch options in the area. Pretty average overall. Not a place I'd recommend if asked, but I'd probably tag along again.

I like this place! I like that they play The Postal Service. I like the bartenders. And I definitely like the spiffy drinks that they make! I came here w/ my girlfriends last Friday. We ordered 7 drinks, and my tab ran $51 bucks. Not too shabby at all. Plus, it looks like they got some good finger food. I will come back and venture Fremont's chic little bars!

This summer I'll turn 30, which means that I am about 9 years too old to be here. I thought I was still 'with it', I believed I was 'hip' and 'cool', but the Red D. has convinced me otherwise. Don't get me wrong, I'll still whup your ass at a keg stand, but after dismounting said keg the superiority and raw vitality of my accomplishment that I used to feel has been displaced by the cathartic realization that the best years are behind me now and I'm just desperately trying to hold on to a fleeting youth, and that I probably just seriously hurt my back... everyone else at the R.D. can see that I have past my prime and the new young lions have successful ejected me from my pride. Ponce de Leon I feel your pain bro. Still if you want to watch young hot chicks make out with each other in an attempt to garner the attention of every frat boy (and leering old man - a.k.a., me), then you really need to get down here.

Really cool vibe, definitely what I wanted out of a Seattle bar. Went with my brother and his friends when I was visiting so we walked from an apartment. Great beer, great vibe. During football playoffs so lots of fans wearing their colors! Lots of U of W and W State fans wearing their gear. Eat at the cream cheese hotdog stand down the street! This was at like 1am sooo I don't remember which way it was. But damn those cream cheese dogs were good....

Suffice it to say I won't be going there again. Celebrated a friends birthday back in April, paid with my debit card, it cleared-no problem. That friend then alerted me to several others having been charged twice. I check my bank account and sure enough, theres another charge for the same amount-2 months later (i haven't been here since april btw) I call and as I start explaining the bartender cuts me off and says theres nothing he can do about it, they've been getting calls about it all day, and he had customers in front of him to deal with. I then pointed out that I TOO am a customer, and asked for the supervisor. He then told me they were busy with customers also. When I asked him how do I get my money back he told me there was nothing they could do that it was the credit card processing companies problem. Seriously? So i just double paid and thats it? You're done red door, done...

It's hard to separate the establishment itself from the less-than-desirable crowd I came across here last night. The phrase 'meat market' comes to mind, and not the kind you find at Pike Place. Within minutes of entering, three Italian gentlemen in town for New Year's had invited us to go back to their hotel for wine. Hmm...tempting. And it's bad enough when there's even a line for the men's room, but line of frat boys for the men's room is just unacceptable. I couldn't even drink my vodka tonic. How one screws up a vodka tonic I can't be sure, but the bartender sure managed to. I've been here before for lunch and it wasn't quite such a nightmare, but I shan't be back during the witching hours any time soon.

Red Door is awesome, as long as you have your expectations set appropriately. It's a fun place to gather with friends, it's a fun place to share plates of appetizers, they have delicious fries, their burgers are pretty good, and their other dishes are too. But let's be clear -- this isn't the place for innovative cuisine or top notch service, but given it's niche, it's pretty damn near the top of my list of local places. Be forewarned, they serve RC Cola products....... WHAT? RC COLA? Yes, it actually exists, and for some reason, this place serves it. Gross. Avoid all cola drinks. Their beer selection makes up for it, however, and their remaining selection of liquor is fully complete. What's great? The steak salad -- crisp onions, blue cheese, good dressing, large amount of steak. Burgers -- well cooked, served in multiple combinations, great buns, with your choice of a nice green salad (legitimately a nice salad, with fresh greens) or their wonderful fresh cut fries. The BLT is really good -- great whole wheat bread, thick cut bacon, avocado if you want it, hand cut tomato.

The beer was definitely good. But I was disappointed by the food (esp for the price) and the service. I got a sandwich for about $13. Greasy - yes. Salty - yes. Delicious - no. The atmosphere wasn't too bad on Friday early evening since I guess it was pre-frat invasion judging by other reviews.

One thing Red Door does well is serve beer. Lots and lots of choices and in what could be Fremont's best ale house setting. Maybe not as complex of a selection as Brouwer's up the street, but you also don't need to feel obligated to intellectualize the brew while sitting in the dark (which I do both of there, quite often...). With an open, bright and breezy main seating area and absolutely fantastic outdoor deck, you can't go wrong on a sunny afternoon or weekday happy hour. Evenings can get absolutely packed, and unless you've been camping from the night before, forget even getting up the stairs to the Red Door on holidays. The typical night crowd is young and a few times I've enjoyed watching the somewhat train-wreck pick-up antics that beer + late 20s can bring. Don't be afraid to order food - good pub food, well priced, and you get your money's worth. I've never had anything but attentive and friendly service, no matter what shift I'm in there for. Think outside the "it's a late night bar" box and give them a whirl.

I'm a frequent visitor here. Not exactly sure why. The service is good and the bartenders are always super nice. I guess its because it draws a nice crowd and seating can be found. Its the place in Fremont to go when you want to be around people, but don't want the dance crowd at Ballroom. My favorite night there is 9/11....by far!

  • Carlie D.

This used to be my favorite bar in Fremont. Used to be because it became the local frat boy/meathead hangout which if I wanted to be around that I would go to a sports bar. The outdoor patio is nice but on a nice summer day, it is far too crowded and crazy. I tend to avoid this place at all cost now whenever I come home to Seattle.

If I could distribute 0 stars I would. I was coming from Pioneer square and was late to meet a friend. She was there for about 45 minutes prior to my arrival. In that time she wasn't seated or greeted, she didn't receive a glass of water, and no one checked in with her. As a server this is SO disrespectful, and SO absolutely horrifying to leave a guest hanging and not give them a glass of water or to simply place a pitcher down on the table (not ROCKET science here, you're serving tables). Upon walking in I noticed a plethora of staff in frumpy American Eagle clothing all kind of standing around behind the bar. I kind of wander around searching for my friend for a few minutes -- get passed by several servers -- and no one tries to seat me... I finally find my friend outside and sit down. There aren't a lot of people here, there are maybe 4 waitresses for the patio, and maybe about 4 inside that I had noticed (not counting bar tenders) so clearly they aren't swamped and understaffed. We ended up moving tables in the next 10 minutes we were there and still no waitress. She finally comes by and we're ready to order. We asked to sample their sangrias because we couldnt decide between red or white, we had already given her the rest of our order, and then I notice her go to another table, and another, and then she starts polishing dishes while we're waiting there to sample drinks that she had left to grab us... nothing... another five minutes go by, we still don't have water, we have orders set in the kitchen, and we're still waiting for our drinks when she walks by. I stop her and say "Can we just get the white sangria since we still have NOTHING to drink?" She kind of snaps back at me "Yeah, that's what the bar tender was getting for you anyways"... she disappears for a second, starts messing with dishes again and then someone brings her a pitcher of sangria. See how simple that was when you place an order? The order in which things should be served and their timing was totally off. We got a cold appetizer within seconds of getting our meal. She had no concept of how to read a table, we clearly weren't there to dine and dash and she waited until my friend disappeared to the restroom to ask if we wanted anything else or if we were still "working" on our food. Yes, we're fine, we're EATING our food not WORKING on it. I'll admit I was being maybe too firm for our waitress but you can't treat people like that when you're servicing them. I could tell that she was talking about our table with her friend (whose outfit was hideous by the way, see through v neck shirt, plaid shorts that were WAY too short. No one should be forced to see your a** cleavage) and the bar staff. I agree with anyone else that says this place is like a frat. There is SO much potential in the location, the architectural integrity of the building but the staff SUCKS, the menu lacks VEGETARIAN options, and they need a dress code that isn't something you wear to college... I will NEVER go back to this place.

Just had another excellent lunch there. Cobb salad is just what it's supposed to be, and it's not piles and piles of lettuce. It's the salad for people who really wanted to order a club sandwich. Friends got BLT and soup (thumbs up), and a curry chicken salad sandwich and fries (thumbs up). Righteous fries. Righteous. I just felt it was a bit OTT to order them as a side to my salad, so I relied on a friend to get it with his so I could eat his like a crow - swoop in every few moments to grab one. Service was friendly, funny, helpful, and she asked if we all wanted our own check, or put it on one. We chose one, but it's good to have the option. Again proving to be a totally reliable lunch experience.

So iffy, it's a turn-off. I used to go to Red Door really frequently, and my experience has never been above a 3-star "acceptable" rating. The food is uninspired, the beer is rarely unique. The atmosphere, outside of the staff, is really all it has going for it. I should like this place. I should. It has food, it has beer, and it's the closest restaurant to my office. They just suck. I've had two of my worst restaurant experiences ever there, and now I all but refuse to return. If a bunch of friends are heading there for a celebration lunch, I'll get a sandwich at PCC and eat at my desk. The blame falls solely on the owners. They seem to have chased away an excellent roster of servers and cooks, and replaced the latter with people for whom "good enough" is as good as it's going to get. I'm not sure what it takes to get into their cool-guy club, but eating there several times a week for a year doesn't cut it. While the owners are always on site, I've never received a free anything despite the huge number of bad experiences and small number of completely unacceptable experiences I've had. This is the kind of place where they'll make money no matter what because of their location and reputation in Fremont. The "good enough" attitude isn't enough to make me pull out my wallet any more. Bottom Line: I never leave happy. The food is really not worth the money, and the generic malaise of the place doesn't offset that severe shortcoming.

Supreme feel. Good vibes. Food is solid. Killlllller nachos. Lathered in jalapenos make my mouth water thinking about it. Higher prices on beer, but what can you say? 10.50 for a pitcher of PBR isn't bad, but definitely not a value. No I don't drink PBR often, but at the red door I have to keep shit in budget. Unless you're at the fabulous happy hour. The happy hour is solid. The location is solid. And the staff, and friendliness, make it a place I plan on going back to often.

Great food and friendly staff. It's cool that it has a family section to watch games with my nephews and niece and get some good food at a reasonable price. I used to come down here to hang out when my friends went to the UW and the place still has a good vibe. Sometimes a few wacky people...

Ok if you are a twenty-something girl and need to get laid, go here on a weekend night. Ok even if you are a thirty/forty/cougarsomething woman and need to get laid, go here on a weekend night. This place is a sausage fest with a crowd of mostly overgrown frat boys. The other patrons aside, the drinks here are fantastic. Excellent selection of beers on tap, and they make great cocktails. My partner ordered a Mojito and they use real fresh ground mint like it should be made! I did not try the food but the menu looked decent. The outdoor patio is nice and the place is very clean for a bar. Its a fun place to go in a group if you are already a little toasted. As a gay man I thought it was funny to watch the desperate drunk straight guys mob anything with hooters and a hoo hoo that walked in the door.

The Red Door is a reliable place to start a night out in Fremont, I tend to end up here pretty frequently during visits to Seattle. My friends and I used come here when I lived in Seattle as well. The space is pretty roomy although it does get pretty packed on weekend nights and unfortunately the ratio tends to work out to be a lot more guys than girls. There are several flat screen TV's so this is a good option if you'd like to catch the end of a game before continuing your night out. Their selection of beers is commendable and they also feature a full bar as well. My recommendation for a Friday or Saturday night is to grab a table near the window, you'll be more comfortable while still being in the center of the action around the bar.

Here's why this gets four stars: Their burgers are awesome. They have good (kinda expensive) beer Their patio is fantastically amazing and amazingly fantastic for people watching during the Fremont Sunday Market and I can only imagine during the Street Fair. Get out there when the Sun is shining, drink and be merry! The frat crowd that everyone who gave this place low stars for? It pretty much exists after dark. Question: If you're drinking in Fremont at night, are you likely to go here or one of the other Fremont bars with great live music and cheap beer? You answered this place? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Moral of my mocking laughter: Go here during the day for good food and chilaxin'. Just make it a rule of thumb to not head here after dark, you'll like this place just as much as I do!

I am going all out on this one... 5 STARS!! Reasons: 1. Waitress was super awesome...so awesome I want to hang out with her. 2. Drinks were stiff, and yummy 3. They had some rare liquor, which my expert drinker of a friend enjoyed 4. Atmosphere is classy and not overdone 5. Potstickers and sliders were delish! 6. Not too busy and not too crowded (it was a Monday.) 7. MUSIC rocked! Basically, I will be back... maybe I will run into my soulmate here, you never know. I read on one of the other reviews that a lot of brand whore's go here... I would love to meet a cutie who can rock a pair of Rock & Republics, maybe this is my spot...lol!

First off, I'm really glad someone found a good use for the Old Rainer Brewery sign. The Red Door has a good atmosphere, decent food, and about the right amount of people, granted, some of those people could be a little older. We ended up coming here twice on our last night out, and I'm sure I'll be back soon.

I am 23. I was "in a fraternity". This place sucks. If you are a girl and want to be hit on by a bunch of stupid guys (I am a guy so I was watching them creep up on girls I knew) then by all means go to this place. I thought it was funny that my friends would turn around when I touched them because they thought it was some creeper. It was pretty normal for them to be touched by some random dude and be hit on by a bunch of people. I mean put two and two together: drunk guys (assholes and dueschbags for the most part) and absolutely drunk of their ass sorrority girls. I guess if you are 20 something and single and trying to get your "groove on" then by all means go to the Red Door. If you are not single and you have a thread of self-respect then I suggest you go somewhere else. I personally think Fremont is incredibly whack. It is expensive, full of frat guys, and uhh....I think those two reasons are enough to keep most sane people out of the front door of the "Red Door".

Came in just before midnight on a Tuesday. Heidi our server was more than happy to squeeze in our food orders before the kitchen closed. A perfect server IMO. Made us feel welcome, and happy to help, personable and fun. We'll be back.

I've come for lunch on weekdays before. Tolerable; decent food. Its night life completely pisses on any positives this place may have earned. Weak, over-priced drinks that took for freaking ever to get from stressed bartenders. Buy two at once is all I can recommend. Orange trashy chicks who don't mind being publicly felt up in full view of people sitting at the table beside them. Douche bag central where said uber-douches don't seem to mind that nipples don't actually respond during conversation. Jesus, I feel violated just thinking back to last weekend. If full body condoms were available to me, I still wouldn't reenter this place on a Friday night again. Next time, just abort me.

In one word: Awful. Took 25+ minutes to find a waitress, had to go back to the kitchen to get a glass of water, couldn't order a quesadilla without onions since they're pre-made. When our food finally arrived, every dish was cold as it had been sitting in the kitchen window for a while before our waitress brought it over. Might be okay if you're drunk and don't care but otherwise not worth your time.

Yummmmmy! I have fallen in love with the Guacamole Burger at Red Door. They are just so dang good n fresh and covered in guac - no shortage here! The folks are decent, the service is decent, and more importantly, since Budweiser raised their prices, given the tough economy, Red Door won't serve it cuz they thinks its a load of BS. You go, Red Door! Happy hour here is pretty decent too and they have a nice outdoor eating area (just a couple more weeks and we can eat outside!!). Check it out, get a sammy or burger and enjoy.

Went here because all the other places in Fremont were busy. Place was dead. Sat ourselves down. No one greeted us about a drink or otherwise. Guy came in well after us and had a drink and an order in within 2 mins. We were still waiting for someone to come to our table. We decided to leave at that point. I was on the fence about this place, but now I'm sure that it is a thumbs down.

Yum, yum, yum, and yum again. My fiance and I stopped in here while in Fremont walking around and shopping. We got the french fry appetizer with horseradish and chipotle dipping sauces. He was not a fan of either of the sauces but he's a bit of a food traditionalist (although he and I loved the fries). The horseradish dipping sauce could have had more horseradish for me but the chipotle dipping sauce was great. My fiance got the french dip which was amazing with the horseradish sauce on it and lots of garlic in the au jus. He also got an alcoholic apple cider which was not only very tasty but also very well priced. I got the sliders with a salad as the side. The sliders were great. The salad was even better. It was so refreshing to go somewhere and not have a side salad made of iceberg lettuce. For my dressing I got blue cheese on the side because I'm so used to blue cheese dressing being as thick as yogurt. The blue cheese came and it was a thinner dressing with lots of blue cheese flavor. I absolutely loved it. Total the bill was not very expensive especially for getting two entrees, an appetizer, and drinks. We definitely would go back there again.

My favorite bar in Seattle. The bar tenders know how to make drinks the right way, although it can get loud, I love the atmosphere. Great for a night out with some friends!

Average. I would call this place the vanilla ice cream of Fremont bars. It is pretty expensive, happy hour specials are not great, a little bit of a pretentious vibe, and hit or miss service. That being said, nothing stands out as bad, and it is a fine place to grab a drink or two, we go here when we are feeling indecisive or decide to go out at the last minute. We wouldn't steer people away from here, but don't go expecting it to be the best bar you've ever been to.

I will never go back to Red Door. One of the worst experiences at a restaurant I have had. Went there after 4th of July with some friends, got seated, immediately took down our orders (around 11:15p). Waitress had disappeared. We came for food, cause we were all starving and the waitress said we could still catch happy hour food and drinks. Great! Waitress is no where to be seen...for 45 minutes. At that point we had even run out of our pitcher of water. She comes back and sets down silverware and another pitcher of water. 20 minutes later, she comes out and says that we aren't going to get much food. Could NOT give us a straight answer, just repeats that the kitchen was closed. We had ordered about 12 appetizers, we got 3 cold servings to split between 6 starving people. A different bartender took the pitcher of beer off the tab. I'm thinking either some cooks ended up quitting that night, or the waitress lost our order, but wouldn't fess up. Now, what should have probably been done: 1. Come tell us what's going on, keep us in the place, smile. 2. If the kitchen was in fact closed, tell us when we got there so we could make it somewhere else before EVERY RESTAURANT IS CLOSED. 3. Do not charge us for the meal. Epic Fail.

The food was pretty decent here, but everything else was quite disappointing. I had to tell my server my order not once, not twice, but three times; and she still got it wrong. (All I asked for was no tomatoes, so it wasn't anything complicated.) The bartender did not know how to make an old fashioned (a pretty basic drink, I think) and I heard him yelling across the bar asking the other employees what was in it. I should have canceled that order then and there, but oh well. The worse part of the experience though, where the other diners. This place is nothing more than an aging frat bar. Everyone there was ridiculous looking and acting, making the people watching quite decent. However, there were at least two times that my fiance and I had to stop eating because we were nauseated by the overwhelming smell of cologne. Although the food is decent, I would definitely advise that people pass on this place. Unless, of course, you yourself are an aging frat boy, and in that case, welcome home.

I like the Red Door in small doses. People are generally friendly, the place is always lively and packed and there is a decent patio. I've never had much of a problem getting to and out of the bar area and the bartenders do an ok job. The biggest drawback is $9.50 for a pint of Guinness! Ouch. So far they are winning the worst Guinness price in Seattle award. Thus a 2.

We were on a major bar crawl for my best friend's birthday, and so we stopped in here for just a drink - and a round of chocolate cake shots. We sat down at the bar and all of a sudden I saw something move - it was an earwig crawling on the bar! Ewww! Creepy! I was horrified - I am totally creeped out by bugs in general. I mean the place otherwise looked nice and clean - but that just ruined it for me. No idea how it got there - there was nothing else on the bar - but I don't think I could go back after that.

This place is a little better than 3 stars, at least for us. They have a decent steak salad and steak sandwich. They also have a good soup an d and sandwich. We bring our toddler and they can accommodate her too in the non-bar area which is great!

The d-bag alarm went off just walking up the steps. When I got inside, it was at full tear. As I waded through the vomit outside of the men's bathroom, spilled beer, cries of "bro" and cheap pickup lines, I realized I was dressed for a Vegas theme party I had attended earlier in the night. My disguise, a blue button-down and black blazer, helped camoflauge me. I walked among the douchbags, right back out the door.... and lived.

The food is miserable, especially given the price. The burgers are premaid. The service is also miserable, they are slow and make a lot of mistakes. The atmosphere is laid back and it has good drinks; its a sportsbar. I would only come here at night as a first stop type place.

  • Christina S.

The Red Door has a great variety of beer, but not so good food. The people working there are pretty quick with your orders and seem to be nice. The atmosphere of The Red Door is like your typical bar scene. It does get very crowded as the evening progresses, so if you don't like bumping into people nonstop and constantly having your drink spilled on you, then I would recommend going earlier. They do have an outdoor balcony that you can eat/drink at which is nice, but again it does fill up quickly. Also, the place gets extremely hot, so try to dress in layers or stay on the balcony. Later at night the balcony does turn on heat lamps, so even trying to find a cool breeze can be a little challenging. The average age consists of people in their late twenties (mostly single). Dress is pretty casual, but you can get all spruced up if you wish. Street parking is available as well as a parking garage close by.

Last night we had a big party at the Red Door tavern in Fremont and it was fantastic--even though there were lots of people, the ceilings are high and spacious. The wait staff were excellent, the drinks generous and the sliders and fries were delicious. This was our first trip to the Red Door but it definitely won't be our last!

I didn't know that restaurants still offered potato chips as sides and then serve you Ruffles. Seriously. I didn't know that! I didn't know Ruffles still even existed! I guess I've just been spoiled with Tim's everywhere else. I was actually quite pleased with my bacon-blue cheese burger, but only because they were generous with the blue cheese, the bacon was thick and the bun was fresh and didn't fall apart. The meat itself was obviously a tasteless frozen patty and overcooked. I can't in good conscience give the Red Door more than two stars, because I've been there after 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays and it's an absolute nightmare. This is a daytime/early evening place only.

Every time I come here, it's with a group of friends who get so excited about it. I never understand what's so great about it. On weekends, it's super packed with douchebags and bros that are just looking to score. Popped collars, gelled back hair... short skirts, fancy make up and high heels. Everyone wanting to impress but holding such high standards. I hate the frat boy atmosphere here, and it takes forever to get a drink at the bar. This place's only saving grace is their heated back patio.

I guess I don't live in a vacuum . . .the experience of "the two faces of The Red Door" seems universal. Yet unlike the low-star reviewers, I'm here to sing the praises of this Fremont classic. Last sunny Saturday afternoon we cruised-in around 4 PM, cozied up to the bar, enjoyed delicious Bloody Mary's, their great beer selection & a fun chat w/ other patrons. The Blue Cheese Burger always pleases (I often bacon-it-up), and a friend loves the steamer clams. Big Plus: I asked for water as my afternoon buzz threatened to outpace me, and the friendly bartender refilled my glass over and over with a big smile (I HATE beggin' for water!). We left shortly before 7 PM with a good buzz. This a great bar, and all this negativity due to the Fri/Sat late night patrons is unfair. Just enjoy The Red Door when all the youngun's aren't there - - weeknights or week-end afternoons. Seattle has plenty of great places for Fri-Sat night - - as Fri/Sat night progresses have the sense your mama gave you to take your cuteness to some other bar you love . :-) And for you twenty-somethings, I have drank here on a Saturday night when you are here.......please either grow up or phone your mama for a primer on m-a-n-n-e-r-s.

I want to personally thank The Red Door for hosting a successful event last night, benefitting Full Life Care. With their help and generosity (donating proceeds to drinks, donating their space, and extending happy hour food prices) our organization was able to have another fabulous event with lots of people donating to a great cause. Thank you again to all the staff at The Red Door. We are so greatful for all you did for us. BTW, the sliders ROCK!!!

So yeah, it gets full up with college kids in trendy gear after a certain hour. And yes, it is dang hard to get to the bar for a drink when that happens. Okay, I'll admit it, you caught me, I used to be one of those college sorority bar flies. Now I'm just a bar fly, I suppose, but I understand the tradition continues. So maybe I have a higher tolerance to it. When I'm in the right mood, a crowded rollicking bar is a lot of fun and the Red Door is definitely that at night. Their deck is great for sunny summer evenings, you can order a bottle of sparkling wine in a bucket of ice for $18 (perfect for times, like Tuesday, when you just want to be more festive), and the room in the back with the glowing glass tables and red curtains is really distractingly fascinating. I'm easily amused!

The Red Door used to be the place with the best and cheapest bar food in Fremont. Then one day they raised their prices significantly and the quality of the food plummeted. These days, only half the amount of people show up at lunch time. this is definitely a place which is very different during the day when the Fremont workers come for lunch (and a beer) and at night when all the students show up to party

I've gone to Red Door twice and I love it. Both times have been with groups (one was pretty small, the other was about 15 people) and it was a great experience. It offers a social environment but you can also find a quieter spot to sit and hang out with friends at tables. The staff are friendly and helpful. Both times were on Saturday nights; it can get a little frat-y but it's not like that all around the bar and you can definitely find places to sit and drink without being around them. The reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because it's a pain to find parking and to get to. It's not around a lot of other bars; you have to walk a little ways and the area is a little sketch. Otherwise, it's an excellent place to get drinks (they have great prices, by the way) and hang out!

I have been here a few times and its a good place for a large group to come hang out at. The tables are large, they have one or two side rooms you can fill up with all your friends if you get there early enough. they have a deck off the side with another bar out there. We have had a few birthday parties here and started a couple pub crawls here as well.

I haven't been to the Red Door in forever but one of my favorite young dumb boy stories comes from here. My friends and I were sitting at a table, we had one empty chair. Some boy comes up and asks us if his friend can sit down because he's tired. We say sure. His friend sits down and is complaining about how tired he is and how he's too old to be out at the Red Door amongst all the UW frat boys. Me being me ask him how old he is, he in turn asks us how old we think he is, my friends all agree on an age and say 30. He freaks out and says damn I'm not THAT OLD give a guy a break. I say what do you mean THAT OLD? He soon realizes he sitting at table with four females who are 32 or older, he didn't believe us we all showed him our IDs, he freaked out, the poor boy was only 27 I think we may have traumatized him for life, it was truly a funny moment at the Red Door. If you want a funny bar story I'm sure you'll come home with one from the Red Door otherwise I say go someplace else to drink unless you like watching the mating rituals of the local frat boys and girls of Seattle because you'll find them taking place here as well.

Your experience at Red Door largely depends on which day you go. On weeknights, it's pretty low key and has pretty good food. The weekends are a different story. I'm not quite sure why every douchey looking guy in Seattle likes to hoard into Red Door every Friday and Saturday night. You would think they would go somewhere with a better guy to girl ratio. Honestly. This is the only bar I've been to that has a line for the guy's bathroom over twice the size of the one for the women's. Fremont has much better bars to offer. Your best bet would be to avoid Red Door and try one of them.

So, I've been a lunchtime regular at 'The Door' for about five years. I'm the guy who wears the black hat and sits at the bar quietly reading Plato and sipping Guinness. The owners and the staff has always treated me very well from day-one, and it has now become the place where I walk in the door and people call my name out. So, as you might imagine, I love this place. Of course, the evening crowds are not of the Plato-reading variety, but that's to be expected. The place does get rather busy around happy-hour, and to be honest I'm very rarely in there after 7pm, weekday or otherwise. I'm sure the phenomenal drink selection attracts some amateurs as the evening goes by, but in my experience the staff has always tried their best to make sure that everybody there has a good time and stays safe. They are not at all hesitant to tell trouble-makers that they should leave and not come back. Any successful, popular bar is going to have issues of that sort, and The Door handles those issues quite well. In my experience, the atmosphere there is actually very warm and inviting. Great beer selection, consistently good food (the Turkey Swiss Grill really is a Fremont tradition), and the space itself is huge. The front deck has a full bar, the 'Opium Den' in the back is a great space for private parties, and that huge table in the far back corner is ideal for a smaller gathering (I do miss the dart boards, though). They just added a few widescreen flat-panel tv sets, too. And, of course, they pour great pint of Guinness. Cheers!

The clientele consists of fresh 21 year olds and sleazy douchebags looking to score. Watch your step on the sidewalks in the vicinity of the Red Door, its like a vomit mine field on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Simply put, one of the many reasons why "Fremont Sucks Even More Now."

Good, not great. The food was good - had the wings for app and burgers for entree, both were tasty. The service was the reason for 3 stars. Had to wait a long time for the waitress to acknowledge us even though there was another waitress standing next to our table and talking with people at the bar for about 5 minutes, but I guess our table wasn't in her section so we weren't her problem. Our actual waitress was really nice when she got to our table and took our orders right away, but then was in a hurry to take our food plates away when we weren't finished. It wouldn't stop me from going back since it's just a neighborhood bar restaurant that wasn't trying to be fancy, but it's just not my favorite place.

My friends and I went out for drinks at the Red Door, and I was surprised by how crazy crowded it was. We walked up the steep set of stairs to get to the Red Door, and it seems like it would be a cool place - lots of big open windows, dark wood everywhere. The place was filled with lots of young kids, and by young kids, I mean college kids or kids just out of college - girls dressed to the nines, guys wearing white caps. You get the picture. We were just planning on catching up, but it was super loud and we could barely hear each other. It was tough to get a drink at the bar - the crowd was about 3-4 people deep, and it was tough tracking down a waitress. On a positive note, the drinks were pretty cheap ($5 for drinks). It was the night before Independence Day, so I think people were going out big, but it seems like it would be a good place to go out on a less crazy night.

This would be an okay place if not for the people. I see what people mean about Freemont now. They should put a subtitle under the title saying "raise the sorority house red lantern. It's your lucky night." I think the cool server we had for our steamed muscles and beers had it right when she said that it's cool during the week, but on weekends it's all fratboys. I looked around. I saw some of the caricatured fratboys in the vertical stripy shirts, and two groups of hunted-looking women/girls (they looked 12 to me.) There were several other stereotypes in here as well. There was the old-man-in-the-club. There was a couple of vamps looking to get their boyfriends to start a fight. There was some dude with a huge gold pendant that looked like he stepped off of the set of Enter the Dragon. Weird weird group. Like a bizarrofrat mixer. There is a little hidden room in the back behind the kitchen that looks like a fun place to hang out, but if anyone of your group is a girl, expect the frat crew in your face in no time. So think of it this way. It's a clean and nice place in the downtime, and on weekends it is toolbox central.

I feel like I should be writing two separate reviews. #1: I love the Red Door. Come here with a handful of friends on a weekday evening for a couple drinks on the patio, it is relaxing and pleasant. The food is pretty standard bar stuff, it goes well with beer, etc. Which is all I really ask for if I choose to eat somewhere like this. The drinks are always good and the staff is awesome. Ok I'm friends with one of the bartenders so that definitely helps. But it's still good times regardless. #2. I haaaaaaate the Red Door. Come here with a handful of friends on a weekend night and watch the shitshow. Fight your way through the drunk, slutted-out sorority girls and popped-collar douche frat guys and wait 10 minutes to get a drink. Have a bunch of dudes try to hit on you when all you wanted to do was grab a beer after work and chill in Fremont. Seriously, two completely different scenes. Avoid it on Friday/Saturday nights unless you're in the mood for drunken college hijinks. I don't get it. Last weekend my friend and I decided to "brave it" on Friday around 11, it was so crowded and irritating that we left after 15 minutes. Oh well.

  • Jeff R.

The layout and ambiance of this place is horrible. It is so choppy and disjointed that you could have a group of friends in the bar and you would never see them. The crowd is completely there to be seen and its annoyingly pretentious for a FREMONT BAR get over yourselves. Food is very average for the price and its difficult to get a drink if it is remotely busy. Overall there are many better options in the neighborhood wouldn't waste time here again.

    (1)

Great place to drink. They have a large patio and a pretty good sized interior with plenty of seats. Meat market by night and restaurant by day. They have a great lunch special of a salad, soup, and half sand. Build your own Bloody Marys but avoid anything that is supposed to be fresh.. because it usually isn't.

I pretty much missed the whole college bar/singles scene. Right before I turned 21, I met my now husband, and for whatever reason, we just didn't feel it necessary to spend our nights getting shitfaced down at the local tavern. On occasion, a friend and I would pop into the restaurant/bar where my then boyfriend worked as sous chef for 5 years to enjoy a free drink and watch the college cuties get hit on by Neanderthal fratties. For the most part, I always counted my lucky stars to have found "the one" so early on. Being at Red Door reminded me of that scene. Girls wearing those hideous formal shorts with heels, looking around the crowded room for someone better to walk in. Guys in t-shirts featuring ironic phrases checking out the girls, trying their darndest to get a piece of the action. It's a strange mating ritual, the one that takes place in a mostly college-aged bar, and while enjoying a beer with friends, we witnessed more than one girl getting felt up by some cretin guy. Why anyone over the age of 22 would want to spend time in a place like Red Door on a Friday night is beyond me, and so after one beer each, we high tailed our late-twenties, married asses out of there. And if our ages weren't reason enough to not be there, the fact that they were playing butchered dance mix versions of great '80s songs was another. Blasphemous!

I went here for the first time the other night with some friends. I will echo the complaint many had about slow service. It wasn't horrible, but there were definitely times where I was wondering what happened to our server. Though, when she was at our table, she was always very friendly. Anyhoo, the highlight of the night for me was definitely their fries. Kind of a rustic cut with crispy outsides and just the right amount of salt. Maybe there is somewhere else in Seattle with better fries, but I can't think of where that might be. I wouldn't hesitate to go back!

Oh the Red Door - how I heart thee! Love this place - hanging out here since I had just turned legal... yes I do miss the darts in the corner of the bar - but I'll learned to let them go and am digging the huge outside area... Inside and outside bar- tons of seating both inside and outside. Can't wait to go there tomorrow! Great place to hang out with friends... ;)

One night, I joined some friends here after a late night at work. My hilariously boozed-up boyfriend greeted me at the door, and I commented that I was surprised I'd never before been here, after living in Seattle for almost 10 years. He stumbled to my side and said "let me give you a quick tour" as he led me through the narrow bar area. "Here are some douchebags on the left (points right), some assholes on your right (gestures left) and over here, some loud bitches with cankles." Pretty much sums it up. I agree that this would be a pretty good place if it weren't for the people. The Red Door is spacious and comfortable, with good lighting and a patio. The food was actually really good, and be selection of beverages was great. The sliders, artichoke dip and nachos were tasty and generously portioned. I can imagine that the patio for happy hour on a sunny afternoon would be the best way to take advantage of what this place has to offer. Not that the scene would be wrong for everyone, but it's just not my thing. Maybe I would have loved it when I was 21. On the other hand, when I was 21 I was going to Neighbors...back when it was actually a gay bar....or the Capitol Club/Baltic Room. Not that there weren't douchebags there-- hipster douchebags! I guess I just have very little tolerance for this sort of thing anymore...If I'm going to a meatmarket, I'd rather leave with some good Bratwurst, not Douchey McDoucherson.

I'm sad to write this but The Red Door has so gone downhill. We went there recently after not having been in a while. We used to love going there because it was casual and comfortable and had great food. I guess they changed the menu a couple months ago and now it just totally sucks. They still had my favorite Turkey Swiss Grill sandwich...it says "A Red Door Classic" still on the description so I wasn't worried. I should have been. They put this nasty spicy sauce on it now. Gross. And my friends 'seared' ahi was way too well done and tasted like there was a mountain of salt on it. The server was nice enough but needless to say we won't be going back.

I do not usually write reviews. I went to the red door last night for a birthday dinner with my good friend. I had always wanted to try the place because I work right down the street, and it always looks crowded, and the outdoor seating appealed to us. We were there for 50 minutes without any drinks. No water. And the waitress walked off in the middle of our order. We asked for samples of a sangria because we were being wishy washy, but she finally walked past us ten minutes later and we had to pull her aside. After being there for an hour, our cold appetizer came out. Two minutes later, our dinner. At this point we had been there for over an hour, and for a Friday night it was not busy. She never checked back with us to see how the food was. I was up all night from food poisoning from whatever I ate there that wasn't cooked all of the way. I will never ever go back to the red door. The crowd is off, the waitresses inattentive, and the food mediocre at best. My poor tummy....:/

The Red Door is very Jeckle and Hyde.... To see it at lunchtime with the daylight flooding in and people relaxed enjoying grub it is difficult to imagine what happens when the sun goes down Fri-Sat. Fantastic space with exposed brick, ample seating and a beautiful bar. The bar is well stocked and the food is pretty good. A perfect stop for large groups. At least that's what a weekday looks like.... Go on the weekend and it's the cr@ppiest frat party you can imagine. You won't get a glimpse of the setup because you'll be too busy being pushed through the crowd coming and going to the bar/bathroom/etc. Bathroom (ladies anyway) is invariable slick with vomit or some other mess. The crowd is over-run with frat boy homies picking fights and drunk belligerent girls who are only upright because the crowd is so packed. :| It's not management's fault they've ended up a meat-market on the weekend. They did a lot of things right in fact. It may have just followed (and fallen to) the demographic shift that has been happening in Fremont the last few years. I admit that I've ended up here at the end of many good nights in Fremont.... but the weekend crowd has a way of shoving, shouting, and bumping (and occasionally grinding) sense into me that it just isn't my scene.

After hearing about this place for years, I went to this place on a Sunday & was pleasantly surprised as I usually dislike pubs of any sort! They're just too loud, too greasy & too utilatarian for me. Plus, the bar is always wet & you can't put your hands or purse on them! Alas, I liked this place & will probably go back. I thought it would be packed since there was a football game on, but the crowd was manageable & not loud at all. We were probably the rowdiest table there, (6 of us). I ordered the bartender's recommendation, his own creation, (I'm not allowed to give out the name! It's a yummy secret! lol!). The drinks were great, pretty good food too. It was happy hour so for an appetizer, the table shared little burger sliders, which were pretty delish. For lunch/dinner, I ordered the Turkey & Swill grilled sandwhich. It was really yummy, I wish it had more tomato though, (but I'm a tomato freak so they're forgiven, I go overboard on the veggies when I make sandwiches at home). The fries weren't great though, too greasy & the oil tasted bitter, (probably not fresh). They weren't terrible though & my friends that had been there before said usually their fries are delsih so it must have been an off day. Overall, great bartender, good service & solid food. I would recommend this place for a lazy Sunday afternoon filled with yummy, greasy bar food & good ambiance.

There's about a 4% chance that I would return to this place for a night out on purpose. My thought is that a business needs to be clear on what they are...are you a sports bar or a bar bar... This place is confused. The place was brightly lit (sports bar) and they served food (sports bar)..but the crowd didn't start to trickle in until late (bar bar). Worst, though, was the music which was a mix between completely horrible top 40 adult contemporary/alternative rock (sports bar) and god-awful, brain injuring techno dance shit (bar bar). I would say I didn't know how to feel in this place, except that I hated it completely.

At this point you couldn't pay me to go here. The place is jam packed full of 30 something ex-frat boy douche bags, and some of the dumbest women on the planet. The line for the mens room is ridiculous because the guys here have to sit down to pee because they're vaginas. If your girlfriend goes to the ladies room, your not aloud to wait for her within fifty feet of the door. The bartenders are slow, and they get bitter when you don't tip them for delivering your drinks slower then the line moves at the DMV. There are more flat out disrespectful people per square inch then anywhere I've come across thus far. If you do go, its faster to leave and use the restroom at Brouwers and come back.

Its not the establishment's fault really. I have had good times there, but mostly I've been on a thursday, friday or saturday when it was packed - so much so that its hard to move around... the patio is nice when its too too cold to be outside. I've always felt like I'm in a meat market. It tends to appeal to the "frat boy" clientele and sometimes there just aren't enough nice people there to make it worth your while. I'm gonna repeat what i've been reading; its kinda full of douche bags, assholes and loud bitchy girls.

I ate here during the Fremont Solstice parade, and it was pretty packed. Despite this, the service was great, and so were the fries, but otherwise it was below average. The veggie burger was one of the frozen varieties found in stores, and the "avocado" on it (for $1.50 extra) was just guacamole. Some others in the party didn't finish their food. I'd recommend The Silence Heart Nest, which is a block away, over The Red Door.

Very stale and unimpressive place. This is like a true cookie-cutter prototype of a large chain type restaurant. Is this bennegins or chilis or applebees? Okay for lunch but I wouldn't recommend going their on the weekend. Food menu is nothing exciting. I am trying to figure out why and how this is so popular. Atmosphere is Sterile and clean, which isn't a bad thing, but it has that waiting in the doctors office feel. Staff isn't really bad or good, they are pretty attentive. I will try it out again, but why keep trying when there are so many other great places out there. Parking can really really really be hard to find

I came here this last Thursday night for my birthday dinner. I spoke with a gal named Erin earlier in the day telling her that a good-sized crowd would be coming in and out throughout the night. She said we would be taken care of and we were! The waitresses were great about making sure we were doing okay, the food was great (the mac and cheese was delicious!), drinks were made well... Can't say enough good things! Many thanks to the Red Door crew- everyone had a wonderful time!
