Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

We are NOT vegan and felt this place was delicious. Of course my husband was slightly disappointed that the faux meat isn't gluten or soy free. He would of loved his pizza 20x more if it had pepperoni. I ordered the southwestern pizza (not gluten-free crust or soy free cheese) and I surprisingly loved it! It's spicy and flavorful! The "chicken" tasted good and was satisfied with everything including the service. Irvin was very helpful, and friendly! I would return but we are just visiting Seattle, but for everyone else give them a try!

So many delicious options, the owners/employees are super nice and they have a long list of specialty pies that are all drool worthy. They also have some salads, sandwiches, calzones and GF options, for the record!

It's not often that I want pizza, but when I do, oh this is the place to go! I hate the greasy dominos style stuff. artisan yumminess is more my style. Pizza Pi has invented a menuful of deliciousness for a variety of your choosing. The first pizza I had was the Sunny Day which had cashew ricotta, potato, olives, other stuff all on a gluten free crust. It was a good starter choice. So don't hesitate any more. It's good pizza. Go get it now. You heard me.

Pizza Pi is owned by the same couple that owns Wayward Cafe, another Seattle vegan joint. Pizza Pi lacks ambience, but the food here is very good. I had an "ex-meat lovers" 9-inch pizza with home-made cashew ricotta ($10) which was savory and had an excellent crust and sauce. I'd also never had vegan Canadian bacon before, which was a treat. My friend's olive-lovers pizza was pretty good, though a bit too salty for me. I especially like that Pizza Pi lets you choose between Teese, Vegan Rella or their home-made cashew cheese, as many people I know don't like soy/rice cheeses. In terms of overall taste, I'm not sure I'd put Pizza Pi in the same quality category as Pizza Luce or Galactic Pizza (both in Minneapolis), but Pizza Pi is wholly vegan, whereas the others are not. Next time I'm around I'll try a calzone and their garlic bread!

Random thought: it would be cool if they had a deep-dish pizza. When I first ate here within the last few years, I didn't think it was worth ever coming back for (didn't like the "cheese" nor that the "pepperoni" was cubed instead of circular). Since then I've gone vegan and started volunteering at the vegan grocery story across the street, so I'm in the area at lunchtime once a week. (Though I usually prefer to eat at Wayward because it has a better atmosphere and more customers; I don't feel too bad about it since the Pi owners also co-own Wayward.) There are so many things on the menu that call out to me to try...baked pie pockets, cheesestix (anyone else getting flashbacks to college?), and all the pizza favorites I haven't tried. Anyway, order your pizza with the awesome Daiya cheese instead of the house Teese cheese, even though it will cost extra (they used to have a sign about it, but maybe they'd rather you not order the Daiya). The Thai Chicken pizza (minus mushrooms b/c I hate them) sorta sounds like a crazy idea ("it's not a pizza without red pizza sauce") but they stick those "chicken" pieces in peanut sauce and holy crap, it is one heavenly pizza. Who knew that Thai food tastes even better on a Pizza Pi crust? The calzone poppers appetizer is a good idea, so you can sample the calzones and pick one out for ordering full-size next time. They come with an addicting (and probably fattening) white garlic sauce (think: garlic mayo). Things I've tried that are good but didn't live up to the rock-my-world hopes/dreams/expectations: chicken caesar salad, french onion soup, field roast dip. That last one is partly my fault (I like to have some veggies on my sandwiches) and partly due to the overwhelming amount of both mayo *and* cheese. As for the service...I've met the owners and they are super nice people...and I completely understand introversion, if that's the case,...but being outgoing and friendly is really important in making your customers feel welcome. And that's a large reason why I suspect Wayward is often packed at lunch while Pizza Pi across the street is empty.

I'm not a vegan, but I hang out with some, so I've gotten to know several of the vegetarian/vegan places in Seattle. Had I not known this place was all vegan, I wouldn't have guessed it. I feel like that shouldn't necessarily be a compliment. There are all kinds of great things you can do with vegetables and the simulation of non-vegetables shouldn't be considered the pinnacle of Vegan cuisine, but it's Pizza...without cheese. Fooled me! Stick around for dessert.

  • Brad A.

NOT BAD. A BIT SALTY. YES, IT'S VEGAN. I guess there are so few vegan places around that I was impressed that it existed at all. Glad that it does. It does have all vegan and soy-based ingredients. As well, there are some gluten-free options. Not bad. Not great.

  • Eva F.

Although I am not a vegan, I am a pizza lover, so I had to check this place out since the ratings were so high. I tried to imagine myself as a vegan, with few options for pizza parlors, as I ate. Although the marinara sauce could have used a little more seasoning, and the crust could have been a little thicker to suit my tastes, I have to say that I was pleasantly surpised...the pizza with veggies was actually tasty!

  • Umit G.

I grew up eating Gino's, Due's and Uno's in Chicago. Having gone vegan a few years ago, I thought good pizza was only in my history. I was admittedly skeptical when I found out about Pizza Pi, but that all changed after the first experience. I'm now happily working my way through their menu. And EVERY person I've shared their food with, vegan/vegetarian or not, has loved it -- skeptics included.

    (5)
  • Lacey M.

I love that this place has so many gluten free dairy free options. And for that I will be very grateful! The service usually leaves a bit to be desired. The marinara is a little under seasoned so I usually stick to the other sauces. I love the white garlic! Yum. I would probably have given them 5 stars if they had ice for the beverages. As silly as it sounds I really really hate that I have to buy a soda/tea to get something cold to drink with my pizza! Now if only they delivered to Capitol Hill... A girl can dream.

Vegans seem to love this place. As a vegetarian, I've usually embraced good vegan restaurants.. Unfortunately I can't say the same for pizza. I got the meat lovers pizza here two years ago, while I enjoyed the fake sausage and other meats they baked on the pizza I couldn't help but wondering where the cheese was. I guess that's why I'm not a vegan. FYI: no pizza by the slice here..

  • Brynne H.

Let's just put it this way: my sister, who would eat steak every night for the rest of her life, if possible, scarfed down every crumb of her Thai chicken pizza. And then she finished my pizza. This is a girl who turns her nose up at anything that isn't somehow laden with animal bits (and/or pieces). Basically, it was damn good pizza. Also good: the spinach artichoke dip. Sooo good, actually! It was a little slow, and we were there on a completely dead night in early December, but the owners were nice and fun to chat with for awhile. If I ever get my ass back into vegan gear, I'm sure I'll be swinging by more often. A very tasty place!

The last time we ate out w/ a vegan friend of ours, we decided to try this place based on all the glowing yelp reviews. I've never had vegan pizza before, so this may be as good as it gets. However, as a regular pizza joint, this place falls flat. I had very high hopes since you can easily make a delicious pizza loaded w/ veggies. Assuming there is an edible soy cheese substitute, I figured we were in for a good meal. It was a big hit w/ the vegan but a major bust for the rest of us. Dry crust w/ tepidly spiced ketchup for tomato sauce. Something that looked like cheese but tasted like paper towels. Maybe we went on a bad night. Maybe vegans shouldn't eat pizza. Regardless, there are better places to eat on University Avenue. If I'm in the mood for pizza I'll head to Serious Pie, Veraci, Flying Squirrel, Tutta Bella or Via Tribunali for the real thing.

If I had the money, I'd eat here ALL the time. I love this pizza better than real pizza and I'm not even vegan or a veggie-only. Their Saucy Sampler, Caesar salad and garlic lovers pizza are favorites. The people here make it so GOOD.

  • Ingrid I.

Well if it's daya cheese I'm really perplex , cause I already had dayia cheese and it was sooo good so tasty. With all the good review that I saw just after my buddy told me about that place I really thought I was going to love it. So maybe I'm weird but for me, the point of a pizza is cheese, and this white gummy stuff was just non tasty at all like mozarella. I'm supper disappointed and if they don't change that erk cheese I will never go there again.

  • Brian G.

Totally impressive vegan pizza! We had a pizza with a lot of veggies and Teese cheese (Daiya is amazing, but I still love Teese!). However, the bruschetta pizza (new) with house-made cashew ricotta and white garlic sauce instead of red BLEW MY MIND. The ranch dressing was kick ass and I might have used it to dip my pizza too.... :-)

I used to eat at this place way back in 2004 when it was just run by one dude who did everything himself. Now it's always bustling and full of activity, and the menu is three times as long, but they've still got it. I don't make it here as much as I should but the calzones and white garlic sauce will always be special to me.

  • Bobo P.

I have been coming here since about 2004 and have loved every melting vegan cheesy bite. I agree it truly is hands down the BEST vegan pizza place. It warms my vegan heart to see it still around, please don't go anywhere! Plus I love the recent addition of beer! Favorite thing is a Rainer with the BBQ chicken pizza. Love you guys!!!!!

  • Rob W.

As a person who likes their pizza with medium-thick crust and easy on the toppings (besides meat) I think you can take a 4 star rating as a huge compliment coming from me. The pizza I just described as my favorite is exactly the opposite of what they serve at Pizza Pi: thin crust, no meat, and tons of vegetable toppings. I was very pleasantly surprised how good it was. You can tell they use quality, fresh ingredients and put care into making their pizzas. Definitely don't pass up the bruschetta appetizer, it was spot on delicious. I will upload photos of it soon, very tasty. If you hear you're being dragged to Pizza Pi against your will by your vegean friends don't fear, it's very good pizza. Even if you're a meat and bread eater like me, you will still enjoy it. Definitely worth checking out, vegan or not.

I don't know why so many people are complaining about the price. Where else can you get a 5 page menu of ALL vegan pizza and calzones. Seriously, its like $9.99 for a small pizza which is 6 slices and really filling for one person, but thats not much if you're going out to eat. I've been going to this place since its original owners, but I think Tammie and Collin are better, and make it such an awesome environment. I'm always greeted by my name. Shows how much I eat there haha. My favorites and recommendations are the thai chicken pizza, aloha, and bbq chicken. I also get them in calzone form sometimes, with the delicious white garlic sauce. For dessert, the sundaes are never a bad choice and their pie pockets, especially the new raspberry one, are to die for. I wish every city had a vegan pizza joint.

I liked this place when I first moved to Seattle, and it was run by the "Pizza Nazi" - good food, but you'd think you were doing the owner a favor by being there. The food was 3, the service - 0! Then he sold it to a partnership of a couple of couples and their kids. They had high expectations for it, as did I - that was before inconsistent opening hours, increasingly dirtier place, and seeming no care. The quality of the Nazi's recipes though kept me coming back. And then suddenly, it closed again... Finally, it was bought by a couple who seemed to really care about it. The food got tastier, the number of cheese options increased, including some home made ones. The menu increased, and some awesome dishes got added. New toppings. Cashew Ricotta. Some more fake meats. Local fare (Field Roast). Salad options. The place got cleaned up, new tables, consistent hours and now it is open at lunch. The Pizzas are awesome. The new appetizer of 5 different calzones lets you sample the fare. Gluten free crust availability (although only in one size, and that only extends to the crust - no indication that the rest of your ingredients are "gluten Free", for example, I would assume non of the fake meats are gluten free, and I am not so sure about the "cheeses"). This place has really turned around and is my 2nd favorite veggie restaurant in Seattle (Sorry, nothing can hold a torch to Araya's). I only wish I could eat here more often!

I ate at Pizza Pi recently and it was awesome!! We had the bread sticks with a garlic "alfredo" dip. It was amazing! We also ordered a pizza( I think it was called the "ex meat lovers") it was also fantastic. We did take out but the service was friendly and informative. I love that there is a place that exists where anything you order will be 100% vegan! Also they had tons of choices which makes it even better. I will be back again!

Ever since finding out I am lactose intolerant Pizza Pi has been my best friend. Don't know why I never visited it before last year since I am a vegetarian but living with Dutch woman it is almost impossible to avoid cheese. Now we visit Pizza Pi almost weekly. All their pizzas and sandwiches I have tried have been delicious. I especially love that they don't just replace dairy cheese with some bad soy cheese they actually have a decent tasting melty fake "cheese" along with homemade cashew "cheese" and a tofu "feta".

  • Melissa C.

Best vegan pizza ive ever had. even day old its good. the atmosphere is nice and simple. part of the walls are metal and they have little boxes filled with magnetic letters for you to write stuff on the walls. its cute. im not even vegan and i go there. good stuff

    (5)
  • Sophia T.

You will never be weirded out by vegan cheese after you eat at this place. The pizza is super amazing and you will not miss real cheese at all! I definitely recommend the Mediterranean pizza. It has some super delicious marinated tofu "feta" that has literally changed my life. The prices are really good for a vegan pizza (I mean, vegan/vegetarian restaurants are usually super expensive, right?). I will say that the place isn't the most inviting place ever. Every time I've gone to this place, everyone is in the back. It's the only draw back though.

    (5)
  • Sarah J.

So. good. The inside is bare bones, but what they may lack in atmosphere they make up for in great pizza- the fact that it's vegan is incidental but awesome. I'm lacto-ovo vegetarian, but I definitely prefer this to any other pizza place in the u-district... It's more expensive, and you'll probably want to pick up a pizza and eat at home rather than eat in, but that thai chicken pizza is irresistible....

  • Kimberly F.

Meat eaters, do not beware! I love me my meat, but I go here with a vegan friend and we both leave extremely satisfied. We also take a long time to decide what to get! There are so many topping options and specialty pizzas you can always find what you're in the mood for, from your basic pepperoni (it IS phony ;)) to the Thai Chicken or Cheese steak. I am sometimes slowed even more by the fact that I could get the pizza, or make the same thing into a calzone (a personal favorite is the cheeseburger calzone), they are really big and can be shared unless you're really hungry, or having an eyes-bigger-than-stomach day. You really can't go wrong, all the sauces are yummy and this cheeseaholic doesn't even miss the cheese. Its on there, but usually sparingly. If you're trying to save room for dessert (difficult to do), definitely go with a pie pocket, the cinnamon sticks aren't that great unless you're just looking for something to be a conduit for the tasty frosting they come with :)

Although I'm no vegan, I'm pretty open to the idea and enjoy vegan food quite a bit. The garlic sauce here is out of this world! The new management over the last year has defiently improved the establishment, with both the food and the dining area.

  • Buck W.

WONDERFUL!!! it's hard to find words to describe how good their pizza is. the ricotta-kalamata is heavenly. i'm from boston and i hope someday someone opens a place like this in my town, it's not fair that i have to come all the way to seattle to get pizza this good!

    (5)
  • Coadey F.

I never knew the crust was gluten free, as each pizza I've gotten here has been great. The sauce is the best, and I have to give them kudos for being the only vegan pizzeria around. It's a good place to get pizzas for a party since everyone (irregardless of diet) can enjoy. They also have magnetic walls for kids (and adults) to play with while you wait, but you can also call in your order and pick it up. The staff, like most of the vegan spots I've been, is always really friendly.

All vegan pizzeria!!! SO FUCKING COOL! You can order online ( pizzapi.net ) or over the phone and pick it up or dine in (it's small though so not good for large groups.) Pizza options include a favorites menu or you can select your own toppings...including all sorts of delicious veggies and fake meats (sausage! pepperoni! HOLY CRAP!) Other options include fantastic calzones, Cheese Breadsticks and Cinnamon AND Cocoa Stix with FROSTING!!! Try the White Garlic Sauce on your pizza or calzone, soooooohoooooo good. Sorry I'm spazzing out so hard but this place is GOOD and i live in sf and we don't have anything that can even touch it. so if you are in seattle, you are one lucky sob and need to be at this place all the time for those of us who can't. tear. Oh and while you're waiting for your pizza you can pop into Sidecar, an adorable vegan boutique across the street with super cute wallets, shoes, clothes, snacks and lots of other fun stuff! plus, 100% of their profits go to Pigs Peace Sanctuary, a safehaven for adorable pigs rescued from the crappy factory farming industry.

  • kristin m.

The owner wrote me on this review and the last thing i'd like to do is hurt their business, especially when there are so few gluten-free dining options. Like i said in my original review - the taste was good, even great when compared to your average non-vegan cheese pizza. I was assured they are doing all they can to keep gluten-free pizza making separate from the regular dough, using separate utensils and all. The ingredients also state they are gluten-free (jarred sauce and vegan cheese). Look, i don't want to turn anyone off from giving them a try. Maybe i was just having a bad day, or perhaps breathed in some gluten on a sidewalk on my way in to pick up my delicious vegan pizza.

The Pizza Pi Pizzeria is awesome! When I came, I ordered a ceasar salad and the garlic sauce sausage-something with spinach, mushrooms and olives and lots of wonderful soy cheese. The salad was okay, considering the dressing was a bit bland and could have been more flavorful. But the main entree was the best vegan pizza I've ever had in my wee little life! We ordered a whole pie and it was served in such a short time, and it was delicious. For what their environment lacks (a few tables and uncomfortable seats, with fluorescent lighting and view of the kitchen), they make up in flavor and timeliness. I would definitely come back here again!

    (5)
  • Mari J.

I ate here a couple times awhile back and I really enjoyed it. As a non vegan I thought it was a pretty good recreation of "real" pizza. I heard they changed hands though and things aren't quite the same so next time I make it up to Seattle I will have to see for myself.

  • Jennifer V.

If you tried this place a long time ago and thought it was gross, so did I. But they have new ownership (as of a few years ago) and their pizza is excellent. Try the "meat" lovers with cashew ricotta added... YUM.

Dear Tim O. So far, in private mail to me you have claimed both to work for and not to work for Pizza Pi. You sent me a message claiming that people with gluten intolerance (apparently, especially me) who had problems at your restaurant were stupid and lazy, and you hated them. Your recent private message to me was possibly one of the most passive-aggressive messages i've seen, after i replied to that saying 'stop mailing me,' i see you've followed up with a public post. I don't think you should be surprised to get a sharpish reply after you send someone a message insulting them. You didn't, fwiw, say that there were issues with my review or that it was possible to choose foods that suited or didn't, you went right in with the insults. I'm sorry you're sick of the stupid, lazy, and ignorant people of the world, Tim, I really am. What you wrote me with, for what it's worth, wasn't an apology. Apologies may have certain words in common with your message, but are fairly different thematically. What you wrote was basically passive aggressive nonsense. To quote: "I did not imply EVERYONE is lazy, I only provided it as an explaination for some of the confusion. A lot of poeple don't read the menu and before someone trashes a good place they should think about it and leave emotion at the door... but It is not my problem that you don't have ability to have an adult discussion in a productive manner. I can handle critisism and I can express my point of view without the angriness that you seem to have." Have a nice day. I've upped by review to 2 stars because my vegan friends like eating here. I honestly don't know what to make of this place after Tim's mail.

i haven't been there much since it changed ownership but it was awesome with the last owner. we went there for 3 pi days in the a row from when they started it (my partner's bday is on pi day so we went for her bday) and we usually were lucky to selected a good discount from the marble bag. amazing pizza, calzones, etc. on the expensive side, but it's worth it once in a while.

disappointing...entirely way too much marinara sauce and hardly any cheese...pizza itself was undercooked and doughy, not crispy. shame, because they were very nice people...

well, the owner wrote to tell me "i should be ashamed of myself" for my review. whoa. shouldn't the owner be concerned that customers find this place filthy, and lacking along flavor lines as well? shouldn't they be interested in improving the quality of their restaurant rather than lashing back at a customer (who is your source of income)? add bad customer service to my review please (and now that i see they accosted someone for not tipping, i see they lack class as well). like i said, i would LOVE to love a vegan pizza place like this, but this place has not gotten their food or service together yet.

well is vegan pizza and it's alright. ive only ate here once when it opened so im not an expert on this place. I remember begin pretty happy with my veggie cal-zone tho. The decor is pretty boring it its defiantly not a place i would want to hang out but it's not bad idea for take out.

My ladyfriend and I are a month into riding on the vegan train to awesomes-ville. We've been making the rounds to restaurants and sometimes it's good, sometimes it's ok and occasionally there's the gem that sparkles and shines like God hisself came down and spit shined it to glow with a blinding radiance. Pizza Pi is such a place. Some might say that the decor leaves much to be desired with the hastily painted fast food colors, mix of folding chairs, and yellow tape trail to the bathroom that winds around the kitchen, through the prep area and into the stock room. but what those people can't say is that the food is bad and made by people who don't care. Frankly, the food at Pizza Pi is so good, my ladyfriend and I dreamed about it: the caesar salad in its tangy, pepper-y goodness has croutons that were perfectly spiced and retained crunchiness. The French dressing on the garden salad had only one downfall: eventually there was no more. Our pizza was the Rainy Day. A white sauce based veggie and pineapple gift from paradise to which we added the phony-pepperoni. As we ate we rolled our eyes into our heads in bliss and wondered,"How do they make this amazing alfredo sauce?!" (apparently it's a "vegainaise" type with some extra love). The "pepperoni" was salty and delicious-further proof to the unneeded harm of real meat. And the crust...the CRUST...was soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside with a delicately sweet/sour blend...oh goodness, it's So GOOD!!! Furthermore, the new owners are some of the nicest, genuinely caring proprietors I've come across. They embody what I want from independent business: they LOVE their product, LIVE their politics, and CARE about your experience. I wish that I didn't twice knock into the glass tables, but I would break those tables and threaten to cut anyone who talks smack about Pizza Pi.

The spinach and artichoke dip is seriously amazing. It reminds me of my favorite (non-vegan, gluten-containing) artichoke dip from Pizza Luce in Minneapolis, and I was thrilled to find an amazing knockoff in my neighborhood. My omni husband polished off half of a Phoni-Pepperoni 15" pie in one sitting, and I managed to keep my 9" gluten-free Mushroom Lovers leftovers around for a few days. Next time I'll pay a little extra and get Daiya cheese instead of Teese.

The staff is fantastic, the garlic sauce is deadly but yummy, and I love the pizza. I tend to pick it up and then reheat it under the broiler for a minute or two, which does double duty of melting the cheese. Order a pizza and then run across to Sidecar to pick up some groceries. By the time you get back your food is ready. Perfect!

Even my meat and dairy-consuming friends like Pizza Pi. They have so many options for sauces and toppings, it's hard to get bored. Some places have an option here or there, but everything on the menu looks amazing. The fake cheese is one of the better ones around, but truth be told, I don't love real cheese either, so it never feels like I'm missing out. It's nice that we live in a town that can support an all-vegan pizza joint.

So, my wife and I went about three times, and she enjoyed the pizza so much that she absolutely craved it and would bitch and moan and beg to be taken to Pizza Pi. So we went (it's an hour from our house by the way) and went and went again...closed...closed...closed...closed..closed..closed...closed...closed. We have since given up. I guess this is a family owned business because it was closed 3 times during regularly scheduled open hours, with a note on the door saying something about personal or health reasons, then it just changed to being plain old not open, door closed closed. I was half surprised that yelp doesn't say it's closed permanently. We ate at the Wayward cafe to replace our expected eating at Pizza Pi so many times, that now when we are in the neighborhood we head straight to the Wayward and don't even think about Pizza Pi at all. The pizza there has become a fond, but sad memory as obviously the owners don't want our service, or they would be open for business. You may be asking yourself, "Did you try during regular open hours?" The answer is yes...but also please be reminded that we went when we wanted pizza! So, like dinner hours, but any hour is a good time for pizza. I recommend and hope that Pizza Pi expands their hours, posts their expanded hours, and then gets some trusted staff to care for the business during, and always during -no exceptions - those hours, like any fucking thriving business would do.

Delicious!!! My husband and I really enjoyed the food here. I'm from Chicago and I grew up on pizza but I recently became a vegan and I absolutely loved the pizza here! I recommend this to anyone who's looking for something nutrition and delicious.

Amazing service. Their oven broke down after my friend and I ordered. They gave us two free pizzas (uncooked) that I took back to my apt. Half an hour or so later we were enjoying and amazing vegan pizza. I prefer their white lightning. Simply superb!

I liked that this place had so many options on the menu. I've never seen that before. We have a vegan pizza place in Vancouver, but it's not as good and does not have calzones. I got a calzone with "chicken" and garlic sauce and pineapple and mushrooms. It was so hot that I couldn't eat it for a while until it cooled down. But it was so good. They really know how to make a tasty crust and I loved the garlicky flavour to it. The garlic sauce was awesome like I expected. It's so nice to get a sauce other than tomato on pizza, especially vegan pizza. My husband got a build your own pizza. I think he was envious of my calzone. We asked for Daiya cheese and went easy on the cheese. Vegan cheese is a little salty and greasy and overpowering so I suggest going half on it to not get fake cheesed out. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Seattle. I like that it's close to Wayward our other favourite vegan place too!

This area of U District is like THE vegan spot to be. (Just FYI.) Brother is a vegan so we came here when I stated that I wanted pizza. I am always a little skeptical of vegan cheese, but definitely like to support vegan establishments so we ended up here. The staff is extremely friendly and there are so many topping combinations to choose from. I really like the fact that the combos are already chosen for me since I don't like to have to expend too much effort when I go out to eat. We ended up choosing the Field Roast and the Pepperific to take out. O-M-G. The Pepperific was the best pizza I have had in a longgggg time. Being a native Chicagoan, I am not allowed to say that it was better than Lou Malnati's but seriously, so flavorful and at about a medium spice level. Coupled with some vegan ranch that we picked up from Vegan Haven next door, it was quite the delicious meal. The Field Roast pizza was also fantastic, but not quite as exciting as the Pepperific. I look forward to returning and trying a few new combos!

Sometimes I wish there were half stars, or a way to rate different sections. I love that this is vegan and I don't have worry about anything- 5 stars. Options- 5 stars The little girl with curly pink hair who kept her great attitude despite being busy and over worked- 10 stars. Cookie pizza- not enough stars in heaven. :) Cleanliness- -5 stars. I have no idea how this place passes inspection. And the fact that you have to walk through the kitchen and everything else to get to the filthy bathroom, you get to see up close and personal how nasty the back of the place is. I am torn. I want to love you Pizza Pi- but like to eat in places that are clean.

I recently adjusted to a vegan diet - was very happy to find this pizza place nearby to splurge on. Reading the menu, my mouth was watering at all of the delicious options! I decided to go with the appetizer sampler platter to start. The spinach artichoke dip tastes more like a creamy pesto than a spinach artichoke dip. Not that that's a bad thing - since the flavors were nice. The chicken tenders were baked chicken nuggets and while not as crispy as a traditional fried chicken wing or nugget - the flavor was there - not with a sauce but with spices. The bruschetta topping was the biggest disappointment - there was no real flavor. Now onto pizza: I ordered the Hoity Toity and the Kalamata Ricotta - both tasty - but I must admit - the crust was disappointing. And there were too many toppings in the pizza - that the crust was soggy. Ok - now - onto dessert. Wow. Ordered the chocolate peanut butter pie - wow! Seriously decadent and delicious - also giant! My recommendations: get the pizza and dessert - but skip the apps. This vegan alternate is a great option and I will go back - but will try different options.

Midwest Vegan meets west coast - I love that the entire menu is completely vegan for that pizza pi gets 4 stars. The flavor and spice in there regular marina sauce is suttle but tangy. A fabulous red sauce and I usually like a deep dish vegan crust. But they do a great job on the thin crust , Crispy but not a cracker so that's a plus. The only thing that i found a little disappointing was the atmosphere. It was a little dingy. And the staff was "eh ok" Not really rude but would it hurt anyone to smile or speak... If i was making vegan pizza in a vegan friendly city i would be proud and happy!

Pizza Pi deserves Five Stars because it is so incredibly yummy. I live in Portland now previously Seattle....but honest to God i have driven up to Seattle before just to have this Pizza (with the excuse of telling my friends i was coming to see them ;) Anyway, I will say the place is small. Not much seating. Ive noticed the customer service is hit or miss friendly..but honestly- I can't think of a better tasting Vegan Pizza anywhere (and Portland has several!). I especially love the White Garlic Sauce. Get a Pizza with that and you will be hooked!! :) Yum- Thanks Pizza Pi for being so awesome tasting!

The biggest vegan pizza menu I've seen in the U.S., bar none. This 100% vegan pizzeria offers vegan calzones, pizzas, chicken caesar salads, soups, breadstix, and the list goes on... for 10 pages it goes on... including dessert. These paisanos use Teese brand vegan cheese for their pies, and also have white garlic sauce if you aren't feeling the marinara. We came in with a group of 5, which is about the maximum that can fit at a table in this hole-in-the-wall joint. Probably better to order to-go if you're a local. The salads were slathered in dressing, not that it bothered anyone--this isn't a place to come for light fare. I tried two different thin crust pizzas: the St. Louis, which was delectable; and a Hawaiian, which was not as good. The former really did blow my mind though. Lots of faux meat going on, lots of flavor, crispy crust. Outstanding. The staff was friendly and chatty, offering lots of tips about vegan Seattle for the visitor, even though they were quite busy. The food came up in less time than it took to drink a Session ("scientifically proven to be the best beer paired with pizza," said our cashier). All around A+ for Pizza Pi. It's no wonder that this place has been open for going on 10 years. Sure to please non-vegans, too (we were dining with some omnivores who loved it).

My husband and I are vegans who recently moved to Washington, and we adore Pizza Pi. While I can make a mean vegan pizza, I have never had anything like the Mac and Yease pizza. This pizza is absolutely fantastic. While I haven't taken any non-vegans there to try it yet, I can't imagine a cheese eater would dislike it. Lately, we have been getting a small Mac and Yease and a sandwich. The sandwiches are always great (We have tried the Philly and French Dip so far), and we love the Caesar salad that comes with it (probably the best salad dressing I have ever had). The white garlic sauce they offer on some of the pizza is so creamy and flavorful I don't know how I lived without it. However, I will admit that the prices are somewhat high (which is why I love the pizza club card they offer there) and the wait time for the food is excessive, so if you do eat in, prepare to wait for at least 30 minutes. Despite the price and wait, it is still extremely worth it to eat here and we try to stop in once a week.

Best vegan pizza ever. My husband and I are both vegan, and this is one of our favorite places. His favorite pizza is the Buffalo Chicken, and I prefer the Aloha or any fresh veggie pizzas. They have Teese and Daiya ("cheeses"), a small selection of beer and soda, and often something special like soup, pie, pockets, or other yummy goodness. The dessert pockets and milkshakes are amazing... one dessert pocket can easily feed two people, especially after wolfing down some pizza! :) In February they have heart-shaped pizzas... d'awww! The owners are very sweet and while this place is often slammed with orders, making for some very hurried employees, the service is usually good to great. I recommend liking them on Facebook if you're into that... they post specials and Facebook "coupons".

I am a lacto-vegetarian. I have eaten milk-based pizzas at several places. So, I was very reluctant to try out a vegan pizza. Because, cheese is what makes a pizza what it is. This restaurant turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. I thoroughly enjoyed each bite of the pizzas I have had here. This restaurant is very simple, no waiters -- you order at the counter and get your pizza served to your table. There are about 8 tables tightly packed in a small place. If you are keen about having good ambiance and extremely neat surroundings, you would be better of taking food to go. The owners are very nice. They take your order, cook and serve too, like any typical small business. The 9 inch pizza is more than sufficient for an adult. Today, I was very hungry and got a 9 inch pizza wondering whether it would suffice me. Half of it was sufficient for me. The amount of variety that they achieve with far fewer ingredients than a regular pizzeria is amazing. Without intending to sound poetic, I felt that the pizza here has a soul. They have very good appetizers for a very nominal price. The restaurant is open until 10pm on most days (which gives them an edge over the neighboring vegan restaurants). Just give it a try and see.

Pizza Pi is a fabulous pizzeria that just happens to be vegan. Their finest offering is their varied menu where everything from appetizers (try the mini-calzone sampler!) to dessert (why yes, I WOULD like a banana split) is lip-smacking good, the pizza ranges from classic to artisanal, the portion sizes are generous, the staff are fun & funky and the atmosphere is terrific. And oh yeah, it's all vegan. All of it. Which, for a non-dairy sometimes-vegan like myself, means that a meal at Pizza Pi is one of the only times I eat out where I can order anything on the menu. Anything I want! So this of course means I have to restrain myself from ordering and eating ALL OF THE THINGS.

One of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. The pizza is soo good. My non-vegan boyfriend and I have a hard time deciding what to order. We've tried most of the appetizers, salads, and quite a few of the pizzas-- all were great.

I want to preface this by sharing that I really define myself more as whole food plant based than vegan and try to eat unprocessed foods made with no oil. As a treat, my husband and I decided to try Pizza Pi. The place did not feel clean, certainly not the kitchen area which you must walk through to get to the bathroom. The bruschetta was out of this world, with perfectly marinated tomatoes and delicious flatbread. The pizza left much to be desired. I *think* I liked the crust, although I can't really know because of all the sauce. Our toppings were onion, artichoke, potato, and mushroom, but they were buried in so much sauce that you couldn't taste them. The worst part is that the menu didn't mention Daiya as a topping, but there were two solid cups sprinkled on top. Not only is Daiya a processed mess, it also doesn't taste good. I was really excited to try the place out, but won't be going back.

it's vegan pizza!!!!! no animal cruelty the daiya was good the toppings were good (built our own with daiya, fresh mushroom, spinach and artichoke). crust was ok. i'm a crust whore and like it a very specific way (I'm from NYC). caesar salad was outstanding and brought out in a big wooden bowl just like home. owners were outstandingly nice would like to eat here all the time. would like to apprentice here and make pizza all the time. had cold pizza the next day, deliciousness

This is my next in line favorite place. Don't forget to try the stuff crust pizza. Yes, they do have soy free cheese too. Their main cheese is from Chicago called Teese, which they can sell you at the store too if you ask. Try to avoid the faux pepperoni if you can help it. DO try their white garlic sauce, they make it themselves with garlic (no really?) and Veganaise(I think). Red sauce ok too but sometimes not . $11 should buy you a small build your own and something to drink. They now serve beer for those that can walk in a straight line-go for it! The owners are really cool, a recently married couple. THey have ice cream too! Peanut butter and vanilla, maybe other flavors as well. The place can get packed, if you want your food faster then you should call them ahead of time so that it will be ready. In the summer, it gets VERY warm inside, air conditioning around here seems unheard except in movie theaters.

VEGAN PIZZA! YAY! Try stuffed crust and smoky "provolone"! The staff is really friendly and the food is yummy! They used Daiya cheese mostly, but Teese is good too (a little more salty though). Currently I'm living in NY and one would expect there to be some good vegan pizza here, since you always here about great pizza places...but the "greatness" hasn't spread to any vegan places. So whenever I'm back in Seattle I have to get Pizza Pi!

They use Teese (a soy based vegan cheese) . Their pizzas are beyond awesome! Even better are their mouthwatering desserts, all of them are vegan and all are absolutely delicious! The staff were very friendly and helpful in making suggestions. I wish I lived next door to this place. I would possibly never cook again!

This place is fantastic! I wish we were in Seattle longer because I wanted this pizza again the very next day (I legit tried to find a bus to take us back before we get to the airport). We had the mushroom and pesto. Perfectly delicious! I would HIGHLY recommend this place to vegans and nonvegans alike. You will not be disappointed!

Pizza Pi? What a blessing. This pizzeria is hands down my favorite place to eat in Seattle. As a vegan who craves Pizza all the time, I feel incredibly fortunate Pizza Pi is so close to where I live. Every time I came here the service was always great and friendly. The wait takes a while, but completely understandable since they make the pizza to your order. The restaurant also feels warm and cosy (and clean!)- basically nothing to complain about. At all. My favorite items from their menu are their Garlic Sauce Favorite and Cheesestix, but I'm still working my way through the menu (since there are so many options) and I'm incredibly excited to try everything else.

I tried three different pizzas with some friends here. I was pretty disappointed. The taste of everything was just... off. I'm not saying the food isn't worth TRYING, but I'm probably not going to be suggesting this place to anyone. The staff was super friendly, so that was a plus. Oh, and the prices were fair. I say, check it out, but keep your expectations low.

For vegans, I agree this place is pizza heaven. Though for a group of friends wanting to go the vege route for a night, to accommodate for a friend, maybe not so much. I have known the owners of this place for years and can certainly attest to their commitment to serve creative, tasty dishes in a sweet atmosphere. Though, the food always leaves me a tiny bit disappointed one way or another. Don't get me wrong, it almost always tastes great, but you have to look paste the huge amount of fake cheese or veganaise to get there. Finally, for students the price can seem a little steep. Though I would not knock Pizza Pi for that. From what I know it would be impossible for a vegan pizzeria to compete on price! What I recommend over anything else would be the Pepperific Pizza with light cheese. The sauce on this pie is a bonafide hit. Also, don't forget to grab a Santa Cruz Ginger Ale (the best of all ginger ales) from their awesome drink assortment.

Delicious vegan pizza! I always call in for pick up, so I have yet to actually eat at the restaurant - but from the moment they answer the phone (hello, pizza pi!) and when picking up the pizza, the customer service is always friendly. I can almost see the smile on the other line when they answer the phone. As for the pizza, the thin crust is cooked to perfection and the vegan cheese they use is SO GOOD!

It is extremely rare for me to go to a place once and decide to yelp about it. But this place was that good. Got two small ones that lasted for two whole meals. "Sunny Day" (naming so out of place in Seattle) was excellent and I loved the potato topping. Pizza appearance/decoration is excellent and not something you get when buying from pizza chains. I am vegetarian, but this place makes me think that I could become vegan since lack of good pizza is my main hindrance in converting!

OK, So Since becoming Vegetarian THIS is actually my 1st Vegetarian restaurant. (Technically Vegan) In searching for a place under vegetarian this came up, and I didn't really notice it was actually Vegan. But No biggie, I figured I can feel safe eating whatever I want... When we walked in the atmosphere was very casual, seat yourself kind of place, so we did. We sat and sat and sat, while everyone still worked. So I grabbed some menus and sat back down, still no one came over... So then I assumed we had to go to counter and order, BINGO, winner winner.... Employees were very nice and courteous...and took our order... Well that was the hard part apparently .... Ok I ordered the Field Roast dip... Au jus was very good, the sandwich however (IN MY OPINION) would have been better without the fake cheese. I took it off, Obviously I am not ready to go Vegan yet ! haha :) Sandwich size was a good portion, and other than the surprise (un) cheese I think it was a decent sandwich.. They also had a good selection of menu items. Place was small yet cozy, and clean/ Next time I will be a professional and KNOW what to do, however if I were going to suggest something to the employees I would suggest To greet customers when they come in Instruct them to grab a menu and seat and order at counter when they are ready... :) Becci

Not usually a big fan of vegan/vegetarian fare, I had heard a lot about this place from a friend who is a foodie. I had recently taken to eating field roast and tofu, so I was ready for the worst, but willing to give it a go due to my friends glowing reviews. The place is fun, with painted metal walls and fridge letter magnets to occupy your time if the conversation gets slow, and the music was funky, and a little loud, but ok. The prices were very good and I was pleased at the selection, especially since I was expecting a limited menu - but there was plenty to choose from and lots of variations. We ended up getting the spinach/artichoke dip as a starter, and the bruschetta pizza (It's gluten free!) with a white garlic sauce and field roast, coupled with added fresh basil (my request.) Really great and very tasty, and not a slice to go home with - yummers!

DELICIOUS. i'm a veggie & lactose intolerant; my mom is an omni gluten-free & milk intolerant; my dad is an asian-food lover. with all that --- this restaurant met all our expectations! we got two gluten free pizzas: mushroom lovers & rainy day and one with regular crust: southwestern the crust on the gluten free is less fluffier but definitely still yummy, especially if you're already used to gluten free bread southwestern: has some spicy ranch that is just delicious with it's FANTASTIC fake chicken. mushroom: pretty dang goood! the artichoke & mushroom combo is genius. rainy day: i usually like the pineapple in pizzas, but i just wasn't feelin' it for this one, my mom however loved it. so pretty much, my mom went crazy about the fact that she's able to eat pizza after 293859875 years. my dad and i, both having a love for spicy food, loved the southwestern.

Pizza Pi has the best pizza, hands down. As a vegan, I have to say it even beats the pizza I've had as a meat eater and a vegetarian. The bread is the perfect consistency and flavor, and their marinara sauce is effin' killer. The vegan cheeze they use is like crack. Tasty, tasty crack (not that I've ever done crack before, but you know what I mean). They have so many options. I think the prices are fair, too. The staff there is really nice. I've never tried their desserts though. It's one of the places I tried when I visited Seattle. When I actually moved here, I made a point to eat there at least once a month.

Really, really, really wonderful place. My husband and I are new vegans from out of town and we decided to try Pizza Pi out. We are so happy we did! Great food. Nice people. Pizza Pi, thank you for great vegan food!!!

I count myself fortunate to live nearly three hours from Pizza Pi... or I would be in TROUBLE! On a recent trip to Seattle with some friends, I ate here for the first time in years... Pizza Pi is vegan heaven. So many pies and calzones to choose from! Endless combinations of sauces and toppings! You can even stuff your crust and build your own. You just can't go wrong. I had the "Rainy Day" which is a white garlic sauce with Teese, spinach, sundried tomatoes, pineapple, and grilled onions and added some Field Roast sausage for good measure. Holy wow was this an amazing pizza. I brought my leftovers home to the girlfriend and she thought it was amazing too. I also tasted a bite of my friend's cookie pizza for dessert, also to die for. The best part is that everything is vegan and cruelty-free. This pizza is well worth the drive from Portland. My only suggestion would be that this place needs a top to bottom scrub down with bleach. Just take a walk through the place to the bathroom and you will understand. I hope the employees have better personal hygiene than the restaurant. I love the food so much I can't bring myself to knock Pizza Pi down a star for cleanliness.

Good food, very casual. Got the field roast sandwich and was pretty tasty. Huge portion- actually only finished half and I'm not a light eater!

I have shamelessly made the 3 hour trek on several occasions to get my Pizza Pi fix, (and visit friends, but you know, nobody makes a better pizza). "St. Patrick's Revenge" with stuffed crust is my favorite: Spinach, green peppers, broccoli, Daiya, and basil. Heck yes. It's reasonably priced, too. $10 for 9" - $16 for a 12" - $22 for a 15" Pretty much average pizza pricing. I haven't yet skimmed through the appetizer, salad, or sammich menus though. ...In due time. I've always been too distracted by the concept of a vegan stuffed crust while jonesing for a pizza fix.

This is the best vegan pizza/any pizza I have ever had. The pink sauce is my favorite and I have not found anything like it anywhere else. Even the salad dressing is incredibly flavorful and is definitely the most authentic tasting 'ranch' dressing I have had. The atmosphere is always friendly, the food is consistently good (I have never had a bad meal here) and I appreciate how much they support the local vegan community.

I gonna be honest: I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian. I've only been on this vegetarian diet for 12 days. However, if there are more vegan/vegetarian places like Pizza Pi around, I just might stick with this for a while. The 'Meatless' Meatball sub sandwich I've got is arguably the first vegan / vegetable dish in which I've felt full. If you're a beginner vegetarian, check this place out.

I Love this place. The cheese is great, and I can't get enough of the garlic sauce.

Been to Pizza Pi twice for takeout. First time I tried the Phoni-Pepperoni Pizza which had marinara sauce, "pepperoni", black olives, bell peppers and mushrooms. It was pretty good but I didn't like the faux pepperoni - it tasted plasticky. But then again, I'm not a big fan of fake meats (I do like braised seitan asian style). The crust is light and thin but crisp - they don't carry thick crust / deep dish types of pizzas. Second time around I had the Field Roast Favorite pizza - white garlic sauce, field roast slices, fresh tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms. Yummy!!! I will definitely order the white sauce pizzas in the future - so tasty and not overbearing or heavy. The cheese they use is Teese brand - it actually melts, but I think Pizza Pi needs to broil the top of the pizza to melt the Teese cheese even more. For those vegan folks out there - this is truly vegan cheese ie none of the casein (milk protein) that so many 'vegetarian' cheeses have. So my recommendation is to go for the white garlic sauce, and try not to order the pizzas that have a lot of fake meats in it. Stick with the fresh veggies and maybe one faux meat (or none). I also tried the bruschetta that people have been raving about. They were right! Soooo good! Ripe fresh sliced cherry tomatoes in an herb marinade on top of garlic toast. Just don't kiss anyone after.

Not bad. I got a small pizza---half spinach & artichoke sauce, half regular marinara sauce with cheese, pepperoni, and fresh tomatoes on top. God forbid you let the cheese get cold... Otherwise, good pizza. I'm not vegan so I'd definitely go for non-vegan pizza if I can but this is a solid, healthier alternative.

umm, hi, I love you. they don't do slices but no worries. super friendly staff went for the first time with my very special lady friend and we split a small pizza and were more than totally satisfied. I went solo too and ate a small pizza and was totally happy and full as all hell. Love this place!

I'll be honest in saying I haven't had a lot of vegan pizzas in my day. I'm pescetarian (vegetarian who supplements his/her diet with seafood) and the only other vegan pizza I distinctly recall eating was one of those Amy's frozen ones.. it wasn't so good. My experience at Pizza Pi, to be blunt, was frickin' radical. I loved it! Mmmmm.. I'm getting hungry just reminiscing. The gf & I ordered the Southwestern pizza as it sounded the most alluring (especially having chipotle sauce), however my sister's mushroom pizza (don't remember what its menu name was) seemed to exceed even our own, judging by the sample bite I tried. Best of all, the prices are totally fair for what you get: A filling pie loaded with lotsa toppings. We got a small and it was just right! Service is decent, inside is satisfactory, place is in a cool neighborhood, and there's Sidecar for Pigs Peace across the street... What more more can you ask for? I wanna go back! But I live too far! 5 stars.

I'm sure that a lot of people who eat at pizza pi are gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant, or vegans. I'm none of the above, but I still thought my pizza was delicious. I ordered the Sunny Day - 'Sundried Tomato Cream Sauce, Spinach, Potatoes, Black Olives and Cashew Ricotta.' People who can't eat cheese or don't want to are probably overjoyed about the availability of the vegan cheeses. If you can't imagine a pizza without cow's milk cheese, though, I wouldn't suggest you order one with soy cheese. It tends to be bland. Instead I'd recommend that you try one of their many creative alternative toppings like garlic sauce, peanut sauce, spinach & artichoke sauce, cashew sauce, etc. and expand your definition of pizza to be 'any delicious topping that's eaten on a pizza crust'. The crust is perfect in both texture and taste. Some vegan/gluten free baked goods have a notably different taste or texture, but I doubt anyone would be able to tell the difference on this one. The atmosphere is casual, laid back and bright with paintings by local artists for decor.

As someone who has been forced to basically become a vegan due to food allergies, I have been very sad to give up pizza due to the gluten and cheese, both major offenders to my particular system. The Pizza Pi shows up on the scene. Their pizza is awesome, especially for someone who is still trying to adjust to this new way of eating. The ingredients are quality and you leave feeling full but not bloated, disgusting and tired like you do when you eat regular pizza (at least for me anyway). Staff is super helpful and friendly as well. I would give another five stars if I could because of this-as someone with a myriad of food allergies, my food bill is outrageous because of the price gouging on "speciality" foods and eating out is difficult and sometimes more expensive because of this. So to be able to go to Pizza Pi and get a delicious gluten free vegan pizza that I can eat off of for two days for $6 is just fantastic. Im super appreciative of them not jumping on the bandwagon and finding ways to price up their stuff. It feels very honest. Oh and try the pink sauce. Super yum!

It's a really cool place, the walls painted purple and hung with modern art of this zombie infested fella. All in bold colors. Not well lit, it has only one central lighting. I took my own menu and sat myself while the waiter played with a neighboring child. I really don't have any idea on what to order. What's good? I had to just close my eyes, and use my faith to pick one. A small aloha (pineapple, canadian "bacon", tomatoes, marinara sauce). It was for to-go, it's not something I can finish myself, being it be 6 slices. I'm a one person woman. After waiting time, I got my pizza and went out of the door. On the way, I couldn't resist, so I opened the box, hid under the tree, and tried my pizza. At first, it tasted bad, almost disgusting. But, maybe because I was a meat eater, my taste buds were too used to meaty structures. Don't count me reliable, I think it's something that you have to grow used to, after a while, it tasted just fine. Like a pizza, just more to the weird side. The tomatoes were sweet, the marinara sauce was something overused, and the pineapples tasted fresh. The dough is thin crusted, and has an icky hint of flavor to it, adaptation needs to kick in though. But, so to say, I think a vegan eater would say this tasted amazing. Just not me, not for now, at least. Maybe one day, I'll grow fond of vegan pizza. One day. In the future.

Pizza pi I love you!!!!! Pizza Pi has the best vegan cheese! They use teese cheese which is so yummy. Every pizza I have had here has been great ( I have had 8 different ones). I have not had the sandwich's but I bet they are just as good. Also if you order small pizzas they can be made with gluten free crusts, which I think is better then the regular. I bring all my non vegan friends here and they all love it. Its not one of the super healthy vegan places I visit but its perfect for a Friday night splurge dinner:) The place is small but there are almost always tables available. you can call in your order and it will be ready when you get there or you can take it to go. However don't call anytime after 9pm as they won't answer, I tried this once I was angry about it at the time because I really wanted pizza pi and it was an hour before they closed! But I am over it now the pizza is just to tasty to hold a grudge against. Pizza Pi you win:)

Love this place! They make a mean vegan pizza! I've brought their pizza to some meetings at my school with students who are pretty against vegan food, and they had no idea it was vegan and ironically ate all the Pizza Pi pizza, leaving the nasty meat/cheese pizza from Romeo's to get cold. :D They couldn't believe it was cruelty-free. OH! They also make THE BEST CESAR SALAD! And the vegan ice cream is made by hand by the workers, with love!

If you're a vegan then this is the place to go for pizza. Everything on the menu is vegan. This is just a little hole in the wall restaurant but don't let that fool you when it comes to the pizza. I tried their pesto pizza which was outstanding. I also ordered their pepperoni pizza. The pepperoni pizza was ok, I did not care for the fake pepperoni though, just did not taste right. In my opinion the two things that make a pizza good is the crust and the sauce. If you get those two right then you have the pizza in the bag. Pizza Pi has gotten both of those right and it comes thru in their pizza. I will have to say that their crust was one of the very best I have ever eaten. They also make their own pesto in house. The vegan cheeses they use are good and as it has been my experience with vegan cheeses they seem to be a bit more creamer than regular cheeses but still yummy. They have quite a large menu that includes sandwiches, salads, calzones, desserts and linguini alfredo was advertises on a white board when I was there. All in all the pizzas I ate were very good and I would go there again.

Went here tonight and it was beautiful. The spinach and artichoke dip appetizer was tasty, but the mini calzones (each with a different filling) were BOMB! Sunny Day pizza was quite good and had a very thick sauce. The China Cola is a really strange tasting drink. The two people on staff seemed nice. A friend of mine is a regular and it's nice to see that they remember him and remember previous conversations they'd had. I love it when employees of a place remember/recognize the regulars. Last time we were able to entertain ourselves with magnet letters on the wall. Apparently people had written too many naughty things with those, though, so they're supposedly now only "available upon request." One of my favorite things about this place is that you can bring a vegan and/or vegetarian friend and you can all share anything that's on the menu. It is a beautiful thing.

Best pizza ever? No. Good pizza? Yes. Vegan? Just makes it that much better. I've tried the thai chicken and the philly cheesesteak pizzas. Both were good, although I think I slightly preferred the thai chicken. The peanut sauce they had on the thai chicken pizza was quite tasty, and it was pretty delicious when combined with the white sauce they use on many of their pizzas. There's virtually no service to speak of, though. And it can be a bit of a wait. But if you're not in a huge hurry and you're willing to serve yourself, it's not a bad place. It's also a bit of an adventure to go to the bathroom. You can probably feed yourself for around $10. A medium pizza is a good size for two Asian college-aged males.

Good vegan pizza. The bruschetta was very very good, with a unique twist. The bread was kind of like pizza bread which was really good. We ordered two small pizza's... one was the Sunny Day pizza and another vegetarian pizza. I preferred the Sunny Day which had potatoes and ricotta cheese (made with tofu/cashews they said) and was pretty tasty and unique tasting. The vegetarian was good, but if you compare it to other traditional vegetarian pizza's, I don't think it stacks up. For vegan pizza its very good. It's sort of a hidden gem.... though if going back I would stick to some of the more unique pizza's rather than the more common ones.

Wow! This place was soooo good! I ordered the Sunny Day pizza which has a sundried tomato cream sauce, spinach, potatoes, black olives and cashew ricotta. It was amazing! I would seriously recommend ordering a pizza that has the cashew ricotta because that was so delicious! My husband ordered the Field Roast Favorite pizza which has a white garlic sauce, field roast, tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms. That was amazing as well! Ever since we went here about 2 weeks ago I've totally been craving their pizza! We live 5 hours from Seattle but we're already planning our next trip just so we can go here!

I make the drive here all they way from Burien because it's that good.. plus we haven't figured out how to make them as awesome at home. It's just not the same. They have the largest selection of 100% vegan options of any place in town. The menu is something like six pages. We checked out their once a year event on March 14th (Pi=3.14) where they bring out all of the new creations and tried mac n cheese in a mini calzone style pocket, the mc rib pizza and it was surprisingly really good. on most nights you can grab a place to sit but during the last event they were packed and it's a free for all for seating. They only have about 7 tables so if you live near by get it to go or make friends and share a table.

I find myself at Pizza Pi, uh, far too often for good health. To those who are irritated with the stock "cheese" on the pizzas, simply ask for Daiya instead. It's a whole pie of difference. Last week I finally broke down and built my own Calzone. Mushrooms, Daiya, and "hamburger". I subbed out the tomato sauce for the white garlic, and not even a hint of a snarl from the chef / cashier / server rolled into one. It was pure divination, one of the most lucid truths that Jesus loves me very very much. The sweetie ordered her usual, a Chipotle Chiggen Salad (one little gripe here is that the salad portion has gotten noticeably smaller, c'mon people, it's nearly 9$, don't be chintzy to the vegans!). I've had the Spinach Artichoke dip, very delicious, especially eaten warm. Also the little Buffalo Nuggets, while a little pricey for the portion, and quite tasty. And then. AND THEN. There is the vegan ranch they serve, and dang it, there is not even one kind of vegan ranch in any local grocery store that compares or competes. I have never once had to stand outside, and that's a plus, because there ain't a thing to look at around there except Wayward across the street. The joint is clean, the folks friendly, if not a tad aloof. By the time I order, get settled in and get my little cup o' water and read my horror scope in the Stranger, my food is at the table, piping hot, scrumptious, and consistently yum-worthy. Since you get your own utensils, stare a minute at all the Does Your Food Have a Face / Pigs for Peace flyers, grab your own menu, and bus your own table, that multi-purpose employee almost never comes to interrupt your anarchist chatter or your feverish reading of I SAW U stranger ads.

Pizza Pi was the first vegan restaurant I ever went to. And the food was so awesome that I kept coming whenever I could. Pizza Pi is my favorite. The cheese-sticks are superb, and so are the other items on the menu. You can select from the wide variety of toppings and customize your pizza, which is nice. Though the place is small, it is nice and comfortable.

Very good Pizza. The cheese was a good consistency. I extremely liked the bread sticks and took some home for lunch the next day! I think even a non-vegan would enjoy going here. It is healthier and you don't feel bloated afterward :)

Oh maaaan! I really really wanted to love this place but it was a disappointment. Maybe because it started on a wrong foot? I took a 20+ minute bus ride from downtown Seattle just to try the pizza and my anticipations were quite high. I ordered the pizza and the cashier/ pi maker lady was quite unfriendly. I wanted to give her the change anyways (and for good service moore $) but she decided to keep it on her own. She said "let's call it even". WTF???!!! i am a generous tipper all the time but this attitude was uncool. I guess she didn't like the tip she gave herself (i didn't give her extra after that, hell no!) and my pizza took 20+ minutes to arrive. These long minutes gave me a chance to see how things are done. The guy pi maker seemed super professional, wearing gloves and all but this lady helped as well WITHOUT washing her hands after1. touching money, 2.going out for an errand and 3. moping the floor. Yuuuuuck! I ate the pizza (tropic thunder) anyways coz i was almost dying of hunger. It was a tiny bit blend for my taste but overall ok and i love the vegan concept. will i be back? hmmmmm.... I'm scared.

Everything is vegan here so if you are looking for a place to dine with your vegan friend look no further. Hottest pizza place in District is Pizza Pi. This place has everything. Fake tofu feta and shicken nuggets. Don't be skeptical because of the vegan label. Meatball sub and Mediterranean pizza is so good! But eat when it's still hot. Garlic sauce does not taste as good when the pizza gets cold.

If I could give this place a 3.5, I would, but since a 3 wouldn't do, this is my safest bet. Came here to try the vegan pizza and while I am impressed that this place exists, I think it could be a bit better. We had the cheesy bread with Daiyu (sp?) cheese and a small pizza with olive oil, olives, cheese, and potatoes. All in all I liked the gal who took our order and the ambience of the place was pretty relaxed. The cheesy bread was even pretty darn good. My main issue came with the pizza itself. The olive oil had a very strong smell and taste. Not so good...and the potatoes...good idea, but I think this could be better conceived. Instead of largish lumps of cooked potato, what if they were to do thin sliced potatoes crisped in oil on the stove? Now that would be both tasty and texturally appealing. Neither of which these potatoes were. We will probably come back for the cheesy bread, but next time I'm thinking it best to skip the pizza.

Walking into this place, I had a few biases. First, there's the obvious. Vegan pizza? Really? I'm an unashamed omnivore. If I'm picking toppings, we're having pepperoni, bacon, sausage and ham. You want vegetables on your pizza? That's what the salad menu is for. Second, I tend to be texture-senitive, so dressing up soy and calling it meat doesn't generally please me. And third, I grew up in the Chicago area, eating Chicago Pizza with a capital "P". Oh we had our fair share of Domino's and Pizza Hut, but they weren't Pizza. Pizza was 3 inches thick and required a forklift to bring to the table. So you can imagine that I might've been a little skeptical of this place, with its all veggie, soy masquerading-as-meat toppings and super thin crust. However, despite my misgivings The pizza here is phenomenal. From the surprising number of different pizzas that piqued my interest, I chose the Bruschetta Deluxe (I believe that was the name), who's full list of toppings escapes my memory (and unfortunately it is not listed on their website). This particular pizza used a white garlic pesto base, which was very rich and played nicely off the fresh tomatoes. The thin crust was just crispy enough to avoid being too doughy or oily, without tasting like a cracker. Even the fake field roast, not normally appealing to me, tasted good. The only negative was that as the sauce and other toppings were mixed together (rather than the sauce forming a layer below everything else), the sauce was a bit uneven and some bites were a bit too rich. But that was easily rectified by spreading or removing a bit of it. As far as portions are concerned, the small (9") was more than enough for me for lunch. I happily took about half of it home with me for dinner. Two lighter eaters could likely share a single small pizza and an appetizer and leave quite content. All-in-all, I highly recommend this to any pizza lovers out there, even those who, like me, normally snub the vegan food scene, or the super flat pizza scene for that matter.

For vegan pizza, this place hits the spot. The toughest part about going Vegan/vegetarian is finding a substitute for the cheese, and let's be honest, it is the most critical part of a pizza. That being said, I enjoy the proteins here, even the faux buffalo wings were good. But, the cheese just didn't do it for me and the pizza was a bit bland. It was cold by the time it got home, but even after reheating it in the oven, I wasn't really impressed. The crust is tasty and I will definitely give it another shot, but I have had better vegan pizza.

It seems like every time I go in there there is a new appetizer, salad, or dessert on the menu. And a ton of pizza options and toppings. I especially love how many appetizer options they have since being vegan I rarely see more than fries. This place has come a long way over the years, and they just keep getting better. I highly suggest the ricotta over the regular cheese. The regular cheese is a more "natural" product than the one previously used, and honestly it doesn't taste very good. The ricotta on the other hand is amazing!! Plus, the owners are super sweet.

Oh, yes. Oh my goodness, yes. After six weeks of living 3 blocks from Pizza Pi, my housemates and a few friends and I finally checked it out. I'm so disappointed that all this time we could have been getting vegan pizza ALL THE TIME. Especially those late drinking nights when we ordered greasy heart attack-inducing pizzas from Papa Johns and other surrounding places. There were 7 of us, and we all got individual 9" pizzas (perfect for eating half right away, and half later). As a plus, while we waited, we played with the magnetic letters they have in baskets on all the tables. The walls are magnetic, so you can write things out and such. We had way too much fun with this, but it was a great way to pass the time while waiting for 7 pizzas. Not that it even took that long. I got black olives and chicken with marinara sauce. It was of the gods. My friend got ham and pineapple. I don't even usually like Hawaiian pizza, but it was amazing. My other friend got chicken with the white garlic sauce. It was heaven in my mouth. I didn't get a chance to try my other friends' pizzas, but the boys devoured their entire pizzas in one sitting and loved every minute of it. I highly recommend this place. I couldn't even tell that the ingredients were all 100% vegan. Next time, I'm hitting up the cheese sticks.

This place has given me something I have not had in my 16 years as a vegan, and that something is options.....options....options for something tastier than a salad and less froufrou than some sort of mushroom croquette thing. So the choices are pizzas, calzones, appetizers galore, sandwiches that aren't of the hippy variety(though I really do love my alma mater The Evergreen State College), desserts like hot fruit pies, cinnamon sticks and big sundaes that don't skimp on the sauces and whip cream and even a freakin' cherry with peanuts sprinkled on top!!! For $3.50 no less!!! Not to mention beautiful salads that I eat because I want to not because I have to!!! Try the strawberry salad or chicken Caesar!!!! Give me a moment; I need to calm down a little bit... You need to try the white garlic sauce, which is so sinfully delicious that I don't WANT to know what it is made of; all I know is that I am starting to gain a little bit of weight but I don't care because I've finally started to enjoy going out to eat again! The prices make very happy too. Today we had a 9" pizza, breadsticks with extra sauce (around 8 sticks), cinnamon sticks (around 8 sticks), 2 drinks and he had a chocolate sundae for under $25.00. This place makes me feel like I get more than what I pay for every time. The ingredients taste fresh and the pizza combinations are awesome. I like the fact that the walls are a pretty blue and also magnetic on one side, the place also feels very clean and inviting and the owners are genuinely friendly and seem to take pride in their store. Pizza Pi needs to open up a second restaurant on Capitol Hill so I never have to leave it.

Tried it finally for the first time on Sunday. I had just had almost 4 hours of tattoo work done and I was famished! Thankfully it was on my way home. I had the bbq chicken with white sauce, and I took home an apple pie. WOW!! I am seriously in love. It is a long ride on the scooter from Beacon Hill, but WELL WORTH IT!! I'll be back...alot.

But...but...but....I...wha....I need protein and blood and death on my pizza. Where are the nitrates?!? I need more salt and preservatives because that's what I'm used to. New things? BLAH! No thanks. I'm calling Pizza Hut because cheap = good to me. Is this your tradition pizza? Nope. Does it have flavor? Oh yeah. Try their BBQ 'chicken' pizza and shut your (Pizza) Pi hole!

They solved a big problem: How can you make a vegan pizza taste good? I'm not vegan, but the girlfriend is and I'll gladly grab a pie from Pi. I'll help you choose. Don't bother with any marinara sauce pies, stick to the pies with white garlic sauce. They're delicious.

The second I saw this place when I was walking down the street, I bolted inside. I thought, "Vegan pizza??? It can't be!" I was thrilled. Being a vegan was always tough when it came to pizza. But now, those days of longing for a delicious piece of pizza are over. It smelled so good when I walked in and it looked like a normal pizza place. I ordered the "Ex- Meat Lovers" pizza and was eating it in less the 5 minutes. The service was fantastic and I didn't have to wait at all! The pizza was extraordianry! I It tasted like REAL pizza! I can't wait to go back for more!!! :D

Through multiple ownerships over the last few years, I keep coming back for more vegan calzones and the white garlic dipping sauce, occasionally hitting them up for one of the new sandwiches and salads. On a rare moment I might keep the owners who recognize me on their toes and opt for a pizza. I've been here for sole-client midday quickies (early on, it used to not open until 5pm for dinner-only hours), SRO-packed meetup lunches, dinners before taking in local shows, take-out vegan fare for nearby parties with carnivore friends, the works. The decor is as sparse as other reviews make out, with fridge-magnet letter randomness on the side wall. In older times, the other wall (between the door and register) included snapshots of local patrons' pets, but this is gone recently, possibly to help make room for more table space. Never disappointed in service or food, and with the addition of the new sandwiches, I'm likely to take my hour-plus multiple-bus trips more often.

Amazing - for a vegan who hasn't done the whole "pizza" experience in a while, rolling in somewhere where I could order a "meat-lovers" pizza and a coke seemed just TOO silly. As others have said - the garlic sauce is where it's at, though I wasn't disappointed with the marinara either. Two small pizzas happily fed three of us. Watch out for the peanut butter & chocolate dessert pie - that thing is killer! One suggestion: blue walls in a restaurant? There's pretty much no more unappetizing color. How about something warm? It was pretty quiet around opening, too - they told me they get busy after dark.

Pizza Pi is a dream come true for someone who cannot eat dairy and gluten, but who ADORES pizza. I seriously could eat pizza every day, and now I can...and not feel bad about it. It's definitely a must for those who have restricted diets but who love those favorite foods they grew up with.

Perhaps I'm a pizza snob but I've definitely had better. I grew up in chicago so I know good pizza but I also have a vegan gf so I also know something about good vegan pizza too as so far we had the best in Tucson of all places at Rocco's Little Chicago. Now don't get me wrong, the pizza from here isn't so crappy you can't eat it or there's something disgusting about it. No, on the contrary, it's very fresh ingredients and not bad to the taste buds. However, it doesn't look pleasing nor is it very flavorful. Perhaps the ingredients need to cut smaller or perhaps the dough needs to be in the oven longer or perhaps soy cheese. I dunno for sure what it is but it felt like a pizza my gf and I made at home---you know a lot of fun to make, tasty but not good enuf to start our own pizza parlor. Maybe it's the gluten free dough but both her and I thought it was a little on the raw side. Anyhow, I disagree that the pizzas are pricey as I thought it was just right and the service was nice. The place isn't much to write about so I won't but I guess if you're hard up for a vegan pizza in the U-district, then this is probably you're only choice.

Amazingly delicious vegan pizza. This place looks like a little hole in the wall, and I wasn't sure what I would get. It turned out to be a gourmet pizza - delicious crisp crust, artfully arranged ingredients, ripe cherry tomatoes. Everything about the pizza was fantastic. I had the gluten free crust which was incredibly good - it didn't seem weird in any way and it had a great flavor. The only change I would make is more gluten free options! Currently only the small 9" pizza is gluten free - larger sizes would be fantastic. And also some gluten free desserts. :) Also, open for lunch! (Right now it's only open for dinner)

My husband and I had our first date at Pizza Pi...and we go back every month to celebrate our monthiversary. Tami and Colin are so amazing and they always greet us with big smiles. We were married on Sunday, April 17th....they closed the shop down and catered our wedding...first shot at it and they did an amazing job. Friends and family who came and were expecting carrots to be served at the all vegan wedding were surprised at the food (we even impressed a Frenchman!). Tami and Colin consistently hit it out of the park with their food. I cannot recommend this place highly enough! Must haves: * Cheesy bread with white sauce (we always order two) * Buffalo chicken pizza * SLIDERS (but they only do those for Pi day and other special occasions...come early, order often!) * Hot fudge sundae :] Go there. Now. Do it.

Yumm!!! Gluten Free Vegan Pizza is a dream come true for the girl with a million allergies. (that's me) Being a herbivore as well, this is definitely the place for me. For the price, what you get is delicious. There are so many different flavors and sauces, many over-the-top amazing; never had one that is bad. They also have a lot of gluten free appetizer options, which i love. The artichoke dip and the bruschetta are both very good. Some of my favorites are the pink lady and the Calamatta Ricotta, they are both never miss. I just want to clarify though, not all of their pizza is gluten free, like some of the reviews below indicate. You have to ask specifically for gluten free and their menu indicates what can be done as gluten free. And, as one last note, the owners are amazing. They are so friendly, remember you and get to know you. Service has always been great.

LOVE Pizza Pi - one of the very very few overtly gluten free restaurants in town - and so friendly! The owner knows me by my order and is always punctual when I call in an order. For $9 you can have a 9-inch gluten free two-topping pizza - it taste's great, even for the non-vegan amongst us, and they are always willing to accommodate -- she experimented with preparing an impromptu gluten-free apple dessert which wasn't *great*, but the fact that they are willing to make the effort means the world to me.

I traveled 2,500 miles by plane (and then some), 10 miles by bus and 2 miles on foot to get to Pizza Pi. Maybe that explains my relative disappointment. Don't get me wrong, this place isn't bad. It's a great option for vegans who just HAVE to have pizza! It's just not that awesome overall. My brother (vegan, and the reason I'd looked this place up originally) and I (vegetarian, but not a dairy-hound) ordered the cheesy bread to start. I think that was my biggest disappointment. It was thin, floppy, and the cheesy topping was bland. It was honestly not anything to complain about to the employees, it just didn't have any of the fullness or chewiness I expect in this kind of product. Our pizza had pineapple, sundried tomatoes, onions, white garlic sauce and spinach (the Rainy Day pizza). Maybe it was just that the ingredients weren't that tasty together, but it was a weird pie. The garlic sauce, tomatoes and pineapple particularly clashed. I think it would have been much better with marinara instead of the fakey-cream sauce. The spinach was sparse and barely noticeable. I'd have liked more of it. Once again, the crust was lackluster -- it was like a soft, thin bread more than a chewy or slightly crisp pizza crust. Anyway, it was better than a Domino's or Papa John's, but it didn't feel like I was eating a PIZZA. And for the price, I could make a good vegan pie at home. The atmosphere is basically not one. Relatively low-key, no real decor, get your own water from the jug up front. No door on the kitchen that I noticed, and employees were nice enough but unenthused -- they alternated between the kitchen and surfing the Internet on the laptop up front. Clientele was pretty typical of a vegan joint, skewing young and frizzy, us included. I like a bare-bones pizza place, but this was truly sparse. If I ever criss-cross the country again and find myself on this block, I'll come back. I'd try a more traditional-pizza-sounding pie next time.

I FUCKING LOVE PIZZA PI! The chef's salad is amazing. The BBQ chicken is totally delicious! I brought my mother in, and she thought it was very good. She said the chicken tastes almost close to the real thing!! Plus they have Santa Cruz Organics soda, which the vanilla creme is the best!

Can I just say EW. I'm not sure who thought vegan pizza was a good idea but let me tell you it's not. The spianch-artichoke dip on garlic bread is tasty but the whole vegan pizza thing is pretty gross. Especially the fake meats. Won't be returning here any time soon.

  • K M.

Disgusting. And this is coming from a 13-year-long vegan. This was seriously the worst pizza I have had in my life. It tasted like they opened a can of tomato paste for the sauce and just spread it on, threw plastic cheese on top, and some fake sausage. I tried to just stick to the fake sausage because it was pretty good, but, in general DIS-GUS-TING.

I first started eating here back in 2004. Back then the only thing that got me in the door was the garlic sauce. The old owner's attitude was just too negative. 2008/2009 This place is now AWESOME. The owners are super friendly and accommodating. While still sparse the dining area is way more comfortable. Now on to the food... I love the new menu additions. These are the things I've had an highly recommend: Spinach and Artichoke Dip Chicken Caesar Pink Lady Pizza BBQ Chicken Pizza Soyrizo Pizza I haven't tried the sandwiches yet. I used to think it was a lot to spend on a pizza, but the more I look at other pizza places I realize everyone is charging a lot for higher-quality pizza. If I was you, come with a friend and get breadsticks and two pizzas to share. There will be leftovers. OH my. How did I almost forget the cinnamon stix and bakes pie pockets? So good. I only wish I still lived in the neighborhood.

The white garlic sauce and spinach-artichoke dip are some of the best I've ever had, vegan or not--and that's saying a lot! My favorite pizza they serve is the Pink Lady (and, OK, I love to say "I'll have the Pink Lady" when I order--good times). Their menu is truly vast and they're more than willing to make changes based on your needs/jones/allergies, etc. It's going to take me forever to explore the full menu, and I'm looking forward to it. I find it's always pretty warm in there during the fall/winter, so bring layers you can peel off. The decor is humble but playful, and there is a wall onto which you can stick magnetic letters. We have found it to be very child-friendly as well. In the interest of full disclosure, I should say that I went to Pizza Pi several years ago when I was a new vegan and was not impressed by the fake cheese (not sure which kind they use), but I appreciate it a lot more now that I am a "seasoned" vegan and my taste buds have different expectations. (I don't expect or even WANT meat/dairy analogues to taste like the real thing.) Everything we've ordered has been fresh and delicious--the veggies, especially. The staff is incredibly accommodating and warm. It feels fantastic to support a vegan business. Consider me a fan for life.

Looks like Pizza Pi has re-opened under new management. I had a couple pizzas this weekend and they were amazing. Seriously, they were possibly better than any other pizza I can remember having. Of course, I don't really eat pizza anymore, but that doesn't matter. Give the new owners a good welcome and give it a shot.

The french dip is quite possibly the most delicious sandwich I have ever had in my life. The artichoke dip was amazing. The pizza was good, but nothing compared to the sandwich. I will come to Seattle again just for this sandwich.

Newly lactose intolerant, I've been struggling to find SOMETHING to satisfy my craving for pizza. At last I have found it! The pizza was amazing! The crust was perfectly cooked and the garlic cream sauce tasted like CREAM sauce. I'd eat this even if I could have dairy!! The only reason why I did not give it 5 stars is that they don't seem to be consistent in when they open. Although their hours say 12, I went there recently around that time and they were still closed to my chagrin.

A little more pricey than some vegan joints, but worth every penny and then some. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, the sauces are rich and savory, the toppings are always fresh and generously portioned, and the menu is vast -- try something new every time you go in, or pick a favourite treat. I highly recommend their open-faced "No Meatball Sammich" - get it loaded with mushrooms, green peppers, olives and onions. It comes with a side salad and it's plenty of food for two. ;) Their Thai chicken pizza is very generously heaped with toppings and the salty, creamy garlic sauce blends beautifully with the exotic sweet-and-spicy of the peanut sauce. Their dessert pockets are tasty too; takes me right back to childhood mornings with cherry turnovers at breakfast.

I was traveling from Northern California in my yearly vegan food travel, and Pizza Pi was on my list of places to try. I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip for an appetizer to start. The dip was delicious and tangy. The bread it came with was a little bland. I ordered the buffalo chicken ranch pizza and that was AMAZING. As a vegan and an amateur vegan food critic (hehe), i take my vegan pizza options seriously. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a pizza place. There are tons of other pizzas available--I wish I could've tried them all!

Best vegan pizza we've ever had. My wife and I are both vegan and would eat here even if it was just good, but it's AWESOME!!! The service was very friendly too. Just a great place. Wish we had something like this in San Diego, but oh well. It gives us yet another reason to visit Seattle.

Best vegan pizza anywhere! I am soooo glad that the ass that used to own it is gone! Dickhead! Anyway, the new folks that own it are great and the changes they've made are wonderful also. I highly recommend pizza pi to vegans and anyone else who's hungry! The garlic sauce favorite is my favorite but the meatball sandwhich is pretty great too!

New to the are and stuck awkwardly somewhere between vegetarian and vegan, we decided to stop by Pizza Pi when we were in the area. The pizza was excellent! The cheese was well, a poor imitation of cheese, but probably almost as good as can be expected for vegan cheese. I see now that someone else wrote that ordering Daiya instead of Teese helps-- I'll try that next time. It wasn't Pizza Pi's fault, it's just the way vegan cheese goes. Overall though-- yum. Also thumbs up for the flyers about factory farming and such. In most instances they're preaching to the choir, but for people who bring non-veg friends here, I'm sure it's a great way to get the ball rolling.

This place reminds me that being a Vegan is delicious. I had the Bruschetta Pizza. It was wonderful. It reminded me that as a vegetarian, I'm not that far from going Vegan. ANyway, all the stuff on the menu looked delicious. I can't wait to try something else.

I am crazy for their calzones! I never get the pizza, but I've tried just about every one of their calzones, and they have all been amazing. I had an exchange student staying with me from Albania for 10 months, and she was more of a meat and potatoes girl, but whenever I asked her where she wanted to eat, she said "the calzone place!!". This is clearly the best incarnation of Pizza Pi. Thank you to the new owners for not only being nice, but for making some damn good food.

  • Kate P.

This place is a gem!! Not in the glitzy, glittery way, but in the humble-real-pizzeria-that-happens-to-be-vegan kind of way. Their menu is enormous, with any kind of toppings you could ask for. And their dessert pies are delicious! (and enough to feed a whole table). I am only visiting Seattle for the week, and wish I could pack some pizzas up to ship home!

  • Kayla P.

Holy !@#$%!soy!!! Their pizza is AMAZING. I could eat here everyday (well, in theory, cuz I don't live all that close... and pizza everyday probably isn't the best idea... but y'know, besides that). It's *that* good, though. For the record, I'm not officially a vegan, but I do try to cut out as much animal product as I can. There are plenty of animal products that I refuse to eat, but a few that I let slip through. Sorry guys, but that's the cold hard truth. Anyhoo, there again, I'd choose this over and meat-n-cheese covered pizza, any day. It's a thing of beauty. Beyond that, it's probably the first place I've gone to eat at where my toddler remained completely entertained and happy the entire time. Whomever thought to put up a magnetic wall, and keep loads of magnets at all the tables, is a genius. Now for the real kicker. I hear they have gluten-free options. I just had to kick the gluten out of my diet, and although I haven't been to Pizza Pi since then, it'll be the next place I go out to eat at. Do you know just how hard it is to find gluten-free options that you can trust at a restaurant? Yeah, not fun. So I appreciate that, BIG time. Okay, I do have to say that I don't appreciate the type of literature at the table of doom (you'll see what I mean). Even if I'm not about to eat animal products, I just don't want to see that crap when I'm about to eat. That "in your face" animal rights stuff just turns the rest of us off. Yeah, I know I made the choice to go to a vegan place, but all the more reason not to turn me off to it now, ya know? I wandered over there expecting info about the health aspects of veganism, but that's not really what most of it was. Oh well. I guess I can't blame people too much for being passionate. I do hope I never end up there when it's busy. I think there are like 3 or 4 tables there to sit at, and yeah, the ambiance is lacking. Doesn't really bother me, though. I kinda like the lack of floofiness, really. It won't matter anyway once you taste the pizza. is YUMMY. Stop reading all this ramble already and just GO.

They are vegan pizza gone very, very right. It's not just great vegan pizza, though, it is great pizza in general! Anything i've ever ordered on their menu has been great, and their vegan cheese is delicious. Also, the staff is ultra friendly.

My husband and I have been vegans for about three months now. We do a lot of vegan cooking at home but wanted to try eating out vegan as well. So for Valentine's Day, we decided to make the drive up north to Pizza Pi in the U District. We snagged a table (with a lighted candle even!) and went to the counter to order. We decided on the Southwestern Pizza, two beers (a Manny's Pale Ale and an IPA), two garden salads, and an order of cheesesticks for starters with marinara sauce. The very friendly owner quickly brought our beers and cheesesticks. The cheesesticks were yummy with a nice crispy crust. The salads were incredible, fresh and crisp with great veggies and nice croutons. I got the bleu cheese dressing, which was wonderful since I hadn't had any since going vegan. My husband got the chipotle ranch, which had a definite bite to it! The pizza came in a sweet heart shape, special for Valentine's Day. It was delicious, with the vegan chicken, green peppers, and teeze cheese on top of the forementioned spicy chipotle ranch sauce. The crust was amazing, thin, crisp, and tasty. The couple running Pizza Pi couldn't be nicer. This place isn't large, there are about six or seven tables, and the place was hopping busy. We enjoyed everything we ordered and can't wait to return. Pizza Pi is truly Vegan Heaven in Seattle!

Amazing vegan pizza! Nice and quick service. The crust and the white sauce are divine! They can turn any pizza into a calzone.

I live in California and have been seriously considering moving to Washington, and one of the main reasons is to be closer to Pizza Pi. I'm not vegan, I'm not even vegetarian, but this pizza is completely amazing. I still dream about their Thai pizza, in fact I tried to duplicate it when I got back home, and nothing comes close. Amazing, amazing, amazing place!

The new owners take pride in expanding the menu (hooray for Caesar salads!) while still offering the basics people expect. I like the calzones, pizzas, and cinnamon dessert. While the decor is *much* better than before, I still wish it was a bit cozier.

I wanted to like you. I was biased *for* you before walking in the door. What did I get? Underwhelming food, and surly customer service. Gee, thanks. I ordered something hawaiian - the pizza crust was not thoroughly cooked, the amount of sauce was paper thin, and I never returned after finding friends had similar experiences. Also the price was very high (over $17.50, for that!?) and the portions were small. Eff off... 3 stars simply because of the concept, and for lasting a while with that concept. Not sure how they do it, except either a cult-like following or normally not being as gross. I may try them again some day, just to see if my luck is better but I doubt it (tried them in 2005, and still haven't gone back!).

For the first time in 5 weeks on an elimination diet I got to eat out with no fuss. I was able to chose from several menu options that were gluten free, vegan, and soy free. The staff were very knowledgeable and answered my questions with no hesitation. The pizza was very flavorful, the salad fresh.

It's so expensive! I guess I'm a cheapskate, because it's the cost that prevents me from going to Pizza Pi ($5 for Little Caesar's large and $22 for Pizza Pi's large...). But WTF, who wants to support Little Caesar's!?! Pizza Pi is cool--they operate independently in high-rent Seattle and have expensive vegan ingredients, so the costs make sense. I'm just on a limited budget, and while I like their pizza, I don't love it. And the guy who used to work there seems really cranky; apparently he doesn't work there anymore, so that's a plus.

  • Jessyka O.

Love Pizza pi! One (if not the ONLY) Vegan pizza place in Seattle! The prices are higher than a regular pizza place yes because the cost of vegan items are much higher. This place was delicious and I continue to eat here as my primary pizza place. And I'm not even vegan!

ok so This is good pizza, small shop. But to get a 4'th star they would need to sale slices. Right now they only sale whole pies. I really like the fake cheese they use this is some of the best vegan pizza I have found lots of toppings to choose from and a neat little dinning space. they also sale stiva soda an other heather drink options.

  • Wesh W.

If a traditional pizza is what you're looking for, there's really not a lot of comparison with vegan Pizza Pi pizzas. Mozzarella cheese is mozzarella cheese, not vegan cheese. Meaty toppings are not meat substitute toppings. With all of those caveats however, Pizza Pi pizzeria makes an excellent vegan pizza by expanding the palette of available toppings, sauces, and presentations. Their menu lists dozens of favorite pizza options, and also gives diners the option of turning any pizza into a calzone. There are also several signature calzones on the menu. For vegans, who understand the limitations of their dietary choice, this pizzeria delivers a fantastic product. Even for non-vegans, this pizzeria offers so many interesting options and combinations that it's worth a try at least once, unless you're the sort of person who has to have meat and cheese on their pizza.

I think their Calazones are much better than their regular pizza personally. Just like others have said, I really like their garlic sauce. I didn't like that the spinach was placed on the pizza afterwards but that's just a personal thing. They now have salads, sandwhiches and instead of just their house cheese (vegan from chicago? please) they have Daiya which costs you extra but it is soy free,no lactose or whey and melts better too. The gluten free 9" gets kind of hard. The walls and flooring have changed and they have done some remodeling since the last owner.

I guess for vegan pizza it's good to have this place as a choice. Maybe it's me. I'm just too addicted to my original dough and it's non vegan-es ways but I just wasn't impressed. I mean, it's eatable but maybe the crust was just too thin? I felt like I was eating cardboard with toppings. I don't mean to sound bad, I'm just being honest. You know, I've only been there once and that was a few months ago. Maybe things have improved. I should probobly try something different and re-review. I'll do that. I'll also take photos!

I finally came here after hearing about their Caesar salad. One of the things I have missed most since going vegan is a Caesar salad. The flavors were right on and the portions were generous. I also tried the rainy day pizza and it was very good! The cheese they use is "Teese" and is the only kind I like. I give them 4/5 stars because there were only two employees working who were both making the food as well as working the counter, so it took a while to get my order in. Every seat was full and they really could have used another employee.

I heard this place is closing down soon, so I decided to check them out before it's too late. I'm a vegan and I get overly excited when eating at vegan restaurants. I ordered way too much food. I got a small pizza with the cashew ricotta, mushrooms, garlic artichoke sauce and fake pepperoni. It was delicious and I have 2 days of leftovers. Sad to see this place go.

Worst Vegan Pizza Ive eaten, So Far. It tasted like Nothing. Bland Sauce Bland dough Way Over Priced. I can't comprehend the good ratings. Pizza PI Pizza is comparable to a soggy diaper. I vomited up there pizza an hour after eating it. Disgusting. It was like eating Rubber. I wont ever be returning. Hire new Chefs or it will end up like all the other places that closed down on the strip. Lazy just plain lazy. I cannot recommend anyone Vegan or non Vegan to Pizza Pi. It will turn people away from the Idea of Veganism.

The pizza is really, really good. But I just cannot get past how much the prices have increased under the new ownership. A single large pizza is $26.50, or almost $30 after tax. On top of that, the toppings seem sparser now, and on the last pizza there was raw nasty celery stuck to the bottom of our pizza and a whole area of one slice missing sauce and toppings. I like that they now sell pizza by slice. However, it's over $5 for a single piece of pizza! This is absolutely crazy. On the go places like PCC (which make a cheeseless slice or a Daiya slice) charge $2.99. Even over priced Whole Foods doesn't charge over $4 for a slice. And a bag of dough from Trader Joe's is $1.19. So here I am thinking about the great flavors that Pizza Pi puts together, contemplating my dinner options. Based on their prices, this is never going to be more than a few times a year order. And that's really too bad. A couple years ago when it was under $25 for a large, I ordered more frequently. The pizza was still great. The ingredients were more generous. And the pizzas were never sloppily made. Sorry, Pizza Pi. I 100% support your business. But things have not changed for the better.

Food was tasty. I would go back. However, the staff was not exactly chipper. I am a vegan, so I know we aren't all miserable and mopey. Overall--go for the food, support the cause, ignore the unfriendly environment and bring your own happy vegan friends. Plus, they have beer.

All-vegan pizza cafe. The house-made cashew ricotta is fantastic (especially since I am not a fan of processed vegan cheese products like Daiya)! The pizzas and calzone poppers are awesome! Very casual, dive-y place! Definitely a UW student hangout! And don't miss the white garlic sauce. Put it on everything!

I was excited to see I could get a buffalo chicken Caesar salad since I enjoyed there buffalo chicken pizza the last time I came in. I ordered it minus the croutons along with a House salad without croutons as well. He asked me if there was a gluten allergy and I replied yes. He told me the chicken had gluten but they could switch it so just let them know when I order in the future. I was grateful that he caught that. I also ordered a sundae with cherry topping. When the salads came out they were both House salads and one had croutons. I bought them up to the front and he apologized and said one salad was mine but the other went to another table. The Caesar came out and it was really spicy it seemed like even the romaine had something on it that was spicy. It wasn't very good but I finished it and tried not to cry from the heat. (I'm a light weight when it comes to spices, I don't remember the pizza being that spicy). I ordered the chipotle ranch dressing for my daughter's salad which was too hot for me and her as well. The sundae came out later and it looked like it had chocolate sauce on it and tasted like chocolate as well so I didn't finish it. I just left disappointed.

For vegan pizza this is delicious! I highly recommend the field roast pizza or the rainy day. Also they will split a pizza with no additional charge and their salads are very good too! Anything with the cashew ricotta is also bomb.

Pizza Pi is alright. The food itself was just okay. I was not super blown away... I got a calzone and cheese bread. Both were kind of... meh... Service was slow but friendly. The building and environment could use a good dusting.. the baking area was pretty grimy. I'd try it again but won't go out of my way... Thanks for being vegan, though, Pizza Pi.

Vegan or not, this place will set yo tastebuds a-flutter. This is one of the best pizzerias I've ever eaten at. The workers are nice (most of the time), and the sporadic hours compliment their brand as a vegan restaurant in Seattle. I love it. My go-to dish has always been the stuffed-crust medium pizza with the sun-dried tomato cream sauce. This joint never disappoints.

  • Sarah M.

Such a disappointment. The crust was okay but the "teese" is a pasty, starchy mess. Daiya is so much better on pizza. The fake meat lovers meat was so bad it hurt my feelings. The BBQ chicken pizza was marginally better, but only because they gave me a side of BBQ sauce to dip it in. Service is non-existent and the ambiance is equally bad. To top it all off, two small pizzas cost us $36 with tip. Go to Elemental and ask for Daiya cheese instead. It will be cheaper and better. The name is cute.

Went last night for the summer special, a jackfruit BBQ Sammy. It was delicious. It had a kale slaw on it on an awesome bun. Served with a Mac and yease that was very reminiscent of Kraft, meaning not over the top gooey, just right. They have redone the inside of the restaurant and it looks great. Service was quick even though they were busy. Will definitely go back to try the pizza.

With my newly developed dairy allergy, I am ALL FOR a vegan pizza place. Honestly, where else would one be besides the u district? My friend and I went here for dinner on a Saturday night. You walk in and order up by the counter. Be sure to have them describe their specials because they are awesome. That night they were featuring panang curry, macaroni and cheese, and spanish paella, so they definitely cover their bases as far as diversity of options. We ordered a margherita and the macaroni and cheese pizza. The margherita pizza had pine nuts on it -- a nice addition to the traditional basil and tomato. I don't know what they use for cheese (I should have asked) but it is the best fake cheese I have ever tasted. The macaroni and cheese had a white sauce which was delicious as well. I will be back to try some of their other options such as the pesto and bbq chicken pizzas. So glad I discovered this gem!

Decided to try this place after going vegan but not very impressed. Ordered the garlic pizza but the "cheese" make me feel sick after. The taste is not very similar to the pizza I had before. Maybe because I've been used to a plant-based diet. Going to stick with veggies and fruits now.

This is some of the best vegan pizza I've had (been a vegan for roughly 8 years). There's lots of variety and some very interesting pizza's to choose from. The appetizer's aren't anything to get too excited about, but the Calzones are nice meals for one person, and the pizzas themselves are delicious. I've rarely dined-in. Usually, I order it to be delivered (through a third-party) or get it to-go, so I can't speak much on the atmosphere of the restaurant, but the staff has been nothing but pleasant. As for which pizzas to get, they've got a vegan pizza for whatever mood you're in (I'm usually particularly fond of The Rainy Day and The Tropic Thunder).

Though I've been here before, the service I received last night compelled me to write a review. I ordered an order of their cheestix and a slice of pizza to go. I casually inquired if the pizza was fresh upon ordering and the lady offered to make me a fresh slice! Completely unexpected, and really sweet. Paired with their curry cream and garlic sauces, it made for a super yummy semi healthy-ish dinner. I'm not vegan or even vegetarian, but the quality and freshness of the ingredients paired with the really sweet service make me come back.

Oh my wow! I had been here a few years ago while visiting Seattle and it was a hole in the wall kind of place. We just moved to Seattle recently and we have been there a couple times now and they have remodeled the inside and it is really pleasant place to sit and eat. Their pizzas and calzones are so good. They even have a few different vegan cheeses to choose from for different tastes. I would recommend this place to anyone!

I'm giving this place a negative review because I had a HORRIBLE experience! Horrible! They don't deliver so they use a outside company to deliver food. This company took 1 hour and 15 minutes to get me my food. By the time the food got to me it was cold and...GET THIS! The spinach and artichoke dip DIDN'T come with THE DIP. It was only the bread! WTF?! I was so upset about this because I was REALLY looking forward to my meal but it was all messed up! Now I'm hungry and writing this. I'm sure if I went directly to the place I would have had a better experience. But I don't understand a place that doesn't have their own delivery person. I called and urged them to stop outsourcing to "Caviar". I urge you to avoid using this service and I'm also allowing this to reflect PIZZA PI. Just walk it take the bus. Even take a cab to get your food. Never again will I patronize this establishment. Very upset customer.

Just ate here for the first time, and it was really freaking good. The pizza is vegan although most meat-eaters could probably not taste the difference. We ordered the Presto Pesto pizza but they were out of red onion so we substituted for grilled onions. We forgot to order sauces so we got our pizza to go and added BBQ at home. We definitely will be back to try other pizzas and get sauces for dipping too.

SO GOOD! It's vegan so the cheese takes getting used to, but it's so delicious none the less and unlike regular pizza to don't feel bloated and disgusting after eating it. :)

hit pizza pi before a show at neptune on friday night. it'd been on my list since it opened years ago. we ordered two slices of pepperoni pizza (added olives atop!), as well as the buffalo chicken sammy, and the buffalo caesar. pizza was good, not great, but I'd order it again to give it another try. sandwich was gooey and delicious, and a great spice heat level - def not wuss volume. caesar was also yummy; the dressing was garlicky, cheezy, and rich. the salad was far too overdressed, but I like my salads on the minimal side, so i'm sure it'd appeal to most. and yes, garlicky. the leftover salad in the trunk stunk up the whole car. after two thorough tooth brushings and mouthwash, i still awoke with a garlic tongue. maybe hold off on this salad on date night. yes, we'll return to pizza pi!

I would like to touch on two different topics that I read in previous reviews: taste and wait-time. Taste: please ask what favorite pizzas/appetizers are if it is your first time, and especially if you do not eat vegan pizza/food regularly! Time: Pizza Pi is not fast food! On occasion, the wait time may be longer than usual. It is worth any wait in my opinion! There are so many tasty choices to choose from. I agree that any pizza with cashew-ricotta is amazing. Today, I had a spinach-artichoke pizza with cashew-ricotta and I ate the slice in under 2 minutes. My favorite is the St. Louis pizza. There have been lots of great changes I have noticed over the years (I attribute to this to the newest owners). They serve pizza by the slice now, which is great for those on a budget. Their appetizers are INCREDIBLE. I personally cannot stop eating the calzone poppers. Be prepared to spend $20-30 on a pizza if you do not get slices/appetizers. They have desserts as well. One last comment, I have ordered from Caviar once and it was not cold when it got to my door.

I can still feel the vomit rise in my throat at the thought of this disgusting pizza wannabe. I understand if you're a vegan and you haven't had real pizza in so long that you're confused about how pizza should taste, but yech, this stuff is crap.

My boyfriend's family introduced me to this amazing place. While I'm not vegan, this pizza is absolutely amazing! You can customize your pizza to whatever you want, or have one of their many specialty pizzas if you just can't decide what toppings will go together with what sauce. Also, you should definitely try the stuffed crust! It's seasoned to perfection. They make it as soon as you order it, and the owners are also really nice! This place can get crowded, but you can also take your pizza to go if that's what you prefer. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to any vegans, or people who are friends with someone vegan and are trying to decide where to go to lunch together.

Friend and I shared a large custom pizza. Sundries tomato cream with stuffed crust and grilled onions. Effing delicious, especially if you add the "cheese"/yeast, crushed pepper flakes, and hot sauce toppings. It came out to be about $10 per person. Totally worth it for the vegan ingredients, delicious taste, and for it not being greasy like regular pizzas

Ever since ownership changed the pizza has been a little different... Less cheese, thinner crust, and less overall toppings. The first couple of times I ordered to go, my pizzas even had the crust cut off over half the pizza, apparently it had been a little burnt. The pizza themselves were sprinkled with black ashes. Last time I visited I was able to eat twice as much pizza as I had before, while still feeling full after eating about 85% of a medium pizza. I like Pizza Pi, I mean... I love that we have a vegan pizza place and I always tip extra because I feel really lucky to be able to go out and get some vegan pizza... but I'm truly hoping my last three visits were just unlucky : /

This is a great place for vegans that still miss pizza. The owners are sweet people, and the food is generally awesome. Sometimes all the substitutes can get to be a bit "much," but... hey, this is all substitute food. It's pretty amazing that it manages to be so consistently great. Anything with chikkin in it is pretty fab. Chicken Caesar salad is a favourite (the grilled "chicken" slices they use on it are just seriously YUMMY). Their chikkin salad sammich is also a huge favourite, with lots of tasty filling on delicious toasted bread. Wish I could afford to eat here as often as I used to.

I used to live right across the street from this evil, evil place. Smells incredible every time you pass. Amazing crust. Who knew vegans had great pizza? I'm no vegan but it's really good.. With much pain I've eaten entire mediums (it was addicting).. Not for everyone though.. The men I've brought think they're too good for fake-cheese. If you have psychological problems with vegans then perhaps you won't like it. I am an meat-eating, milk-drinking fanatic but this stuff is great-- Unlike "real" pizza you can just keep eating and not get heart-burn. As a student: Save them in your phone. Call prior to riding bus on 42nd Ave, ride any 70 bus north. Get off on 55th street. Pizza is ready! (~ 15 minutes to ride the bus down the Ave and 15 minutes to make the pizza.) Also: Call ahead of time, sometimes they are closed randomly since it's a married couple who run the operation. Don't get: ex-meat lovers Get: any ones with veggies / artichokes / sun-dried tomatoes

So this place works exactly like wayward, and it should given it's A: owned by the same (very sweet lady boss owner) and B: its in seattle and people sometimes bail out before paying or tipping and some are drunk/sloppy just in for the bathroom. You pay then you sit and they bring it to your table, or box order. Take a menu for later if your in a rush then u can pay n peace out whichyo pizza in the future. Big plus there is a large selection of menu items which also feature there favorites in clever seattle names. For picky or simple pizza snobs theres a huge selection of ingrediants to make your perfect pizza. Its made with diaya cheese which i love because it's vegan and not from a lactating cows tit. But mainly because it tastes like real cheese and melts like it unlike the soy based cold cut or blocks. PRICE so it varies, its more expensive then dominos or pizza hut but you also wont be ingesting copious amounts of animal products PLUS you get the best ingrediants without gut bomb. Your insides will thank you! You get what you pay for at this place and it's the best pizza i have ever had....ever. and . it just so happens to be vegan! Score.. P.s.s: most people if not all can't tell it's vegan, trust me it's not card board rabbit food, it's grub and super bomb!

Best vegan calzone I've ever eaten. Tried two of them, the field roast one and a creamy one with pineapple. Both were exceptional. The cheese they use is very tasty with a great texture, great sauce, great dough, great experience. I could go for one of those once a week.

Another place I want to love so bad, but just can't due to the quality (or lack thereof) of the food. I've been a customer for over 8 years, but I almost exclusively order the chiggen Caesar salad when I make the trip. Bombest salad anywhere (and that's gotta count for something coming from a vegan), I crave it at times. That being said, the pizza is sub-par, and this is a pizza place. How do you mess up pizza? I don't know, but they do. I'm a firm believer that a good crust can make or break a pie, and their crust is not just not good, it's kinda gross. And Teese over daiya is a big mistake. If you have ever had vegan pizza in Portland at Sizzle Pie or Hot Lips, you will probably cry after eating Pizza Pi. It's sad.

  • Savannah V.

i'm not a very picky vegan at all (like, i'll happily eat half-melted daiya), but this pizza was really bad. i paid $5 for additional toppings and i only received about five slices of pineapple and three pepperonis on the entire large pizza - this is totally unacceptable!! the cheese was also super sparse. i wouldn't have paid $10 for it, let alone $30. :/ it's a no from me.

The best vegan pizza on the west coast (and possibly the whole country). I often drive from portland just for pizza pi. My favorite pie is the ex-meat lover's which has all sorts of meat replacements on it.

This review pertains basically to their gluten free pizza/breadsticks only: 1. Don't order the gluten free breadsticks. They are just a pre-baked, packaged-looking crust cut up with a few herbs on them. The red sauce that we got with the breadsticks tasted like a mix between a marinara and a salsa. It might be that the crushed tomatoes that they use are more acidic than I'm used to. 2. The gluten free pizza is fine. The crust is obviously the same pre-baked, packaged-looking crust of the breadsticks, but with toppings. Nothing special, relatively flat, but it does the job. -- Everyone working here was super nice, so that's a plus, although our order was at least 15 minutes later than they had told us it would be. Overall, I had a fine experience, but I don't think I'll be in a hurry to be back.

Pizza Pi has been in my bookmarks for quite some time now. Fortunately the other day I got a chance to try this acclaimed vegan restaurants food. I was left rather impressed and satisfied. The restaurant, or small little shop itself is quite quant. The kitchen is wide open, giving the customers a feeling of openness and creating a friendly atmosphere. These guys don't want to hide the process from you, instead they want to share their craft with any onlookers who want to see how they make their pizza. This is for good reason too, the food is quality and the cooking process is fun to watch. To clarify how open this kitchen is take a walk to the bathroom in the back of the kitchen by following a line of flame stamped tape on the floor. You virtually get a great little tour of the restaurant and see the whole restaurant (including the tiny bathroom). I love this aspect of this place, it makes me feel they trust me as a customer and that they have nothing to hide. They are sneaking around with some weird way of baking a pizza, instead they are crafting a delicious, awesome pizza! The pizza itself tasted very good and couldn't have been better. Very flavorful and had good texture (always something to worry about with fake cheese). Since I had no clue what to get I simply asked the cook to make me his favorite pizza (everything looked too good). This gamble always pays off, he conjured me up the aptly named garlic sauce favorite. At first glance if you've never had fake cheese it may look a little strange, but don't let that stop you. Once I dug in it was easy for me to realize why this is a favorite. The crust was first and foremost cooked perfectly, not to thin, nor too thick and nicely crisp. The white sauce and cheese taste amazing. I swear I could taste creamy Parmesan cheese, but of course being vegan it just hit the flavor right. The veggies were delicious as well: olives, spinach and mushroom, then faux sausage. Each ingredient had it's correct flavors and my mouth was content after consuming the savory pizza. The rest of the menu was extensive and had lots of variety, there were so many delicious options it was hard to comprehend what to choose for just one sitting. I will surely be back to try some of their calzones and of course I'd love to sample some more of their pizzas. My only slight complaint was the wait time, I don't mind waiting for good food so it didn't bother me much, but I believe it took 25 minutes for my food to come out. I think I'll call ahead to avoid this problem in the future! Overall I was left satisfied and happy to have tried this place. Till next time Pizza Pi!

I had been looking forward to going to Pizza Pi since I moved to Seattle a year ago and I was finally able to check it out. I am so glad that there is a vegan pizzeria here. However, when I walked in, all of the tables were dirty and a previous guest had not bussed their table. I ordered a stuffed crust pizza with olives, chicken, mushrooms, spinach, and pepperoni... and it was okay, but I really wasn't crazy about it. Despite all the toppings, it still tasted kind of bland. The Teese brand cheese lacks the cheesy zing that other brands have-- like Daiya. Next time I go, I will likely try a not stuffed crust and just get Daiya on the pizza. The Teese in the crust of the stuffed crust is also super sweet and more like cream cheese. After adding some hot sauce, I was much more satisfied with the pizza, but I was still a little disappointed. I blame the Teese, though, not Pizza Pi.

Another place that we used to frequent, but now we're declaring the need for some space in our relationship with Pizza Pi. Boyfriend and I loved this place for its uniqueness in ambience and flavors. We ordered to-go pizzas when we hosted parties and brought friends and family to enjoy the vegan deliciousness. The guy we're used to seeing working here is SO sweet and friendly, even when we ran into him at the University Street Fair as he was calling out hellos to other friendly faces. However, last time we went, we were a little let down. It was 9pm on a weeknight, but they're open till 10. Not. After ordering, we were informed by an unfamiliar face that we could only take our pizza to-go. UGH. Additionally, the prices have substantially increased. Now, I've always been willing to shell out a little more dough for vegan food and I understand that financial demands of a small business, but I also spent over $40 on pizza and an app that I had to drive home and eat at my own table. And I'm not so into that.

VEGAN PIZZA, REALLY??? I've been a vegan for so long, I'd forgotten what it's like to go out for pizza, so I was in heaven from my first visit. This is hot, steamy, delicious goodness. Seriously, their pizza is the best. I love that they have a gluten free crust option. The array of sauce and topping choices is a bit overwhelming, but kind of in a good way. So far I've never had a pizza here that wasn't great. The prices are pretty reasonable too. Here's what I don't like: 1. The gluten free option come only in a single serving size. I'd like to be able to share a pizza with a friend. 2. The atmosphere is very cold and uncomfortable. No ambiance, hard seats, cold temperature. Feels like take-out with some chairs thrown in as an after-thought. 3. Worse than that, the dining area always seems dirty and a bit unkempt looking, as is the back on the way to the bathroom. 4. I have not found the service to be very friendly or helpful. I feel like any question I ask is treated like a stupid question. I'm not sure why I seem to get a different reception than other reviewers. Because I'm older than their usual crowd? Having said all that, anyplace with all these negatives would normally get a one or two star rating from me. However, their pizza is so tasty, and it's VEGAN, that I'm only taking off one star for the negatives. But I do wish they'd clean the space up and get some friendlier help.

The pizza was very good, although a bit pricy ($15 for small - 9''). It was done surprisingly fast, especially since the same person was taking orders, making pizzas and everything else. However, they should really clean this place, it was filthy. The tables were dirty and greasy, all the corners of the walls have yellow stains, there is half an inch of dust dirt on ceiling lights and just about everywhere else and going to the bathroom (through the kitchen) is like taking a trip through landfill. It really puts you off when you are trying to eat there and it makes you wonder about their hygiene levels when preparing your food. I am giving them 4 stars because it is extremely difficult to find a good vegan pizza, but I am hoping the owners will read this and reflect on it.

This place has the most incredible pizza I've ever eaten, vegan or not, and the staff is always really friendly. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and try them out. The spinach artichoke sauce is delish!!

Mamma Mia! Our meal was immediately followed by the most intense sugar crash (and carb crash). I don't regret any of it at all! Our meal began with a tasty spinach artichoke dip: su.pr/1sOV2Q Very flavorful. Because it's vegan, you can actually taste the artichoke instead of whatever cheese normally goes into it. Our Kalamata Olive and Ricotta pizza (made with cashew cheese) was TAAASTEEE! Even though it was on a thin crust, it was ridiculously filling. The large was plenty for three of us and there was still one slice to spare. And yes, next day vegan pizza was still delicious that my 3-year old (non-vegan) nephew snuck a few bites of it when he thought I wasn't looking then got upset when he saw that I ate it all. su.pr/8ZAopd Somehow we managed to save room for dessert. We just couldn't pass up the Chocolate Cookie Pizza: su.pr/7PZkeI It was aiiight. It basically was pizza crust with chocolate chips and chocolate sauce. The real star of the evening (and major reason for my sugar crash) was the Chocolate and Peanut Butter Pocket Pie a Mode. I reccommend that you take a look at this picture: su.pr/2EjzZ6 ...and now you're drooling! There were a few bites where the peanut butter was so rich and overwhelming so I definitely advise on getting it with the vegan ice cream to balance out the flavors. Located in the University District of Seattle, Pizza Pi is small with limited amount of tables. But there is really cool art on the walls and letter magnets that you can play with while you wait for your order. I would definitely love to come back and check out other items on their menu.

After going vegan the one thing I really miss is getting the occasional pizza. Pizza Pi makes it easy to satisfy those cravings! The food is delicious. My favorite is the ex-meat lovers and i usually get it as a calzone. It easily makes two meals for me so that makes the price extra good. The staff has always been friendly and helpful and the food arrives quickly and hot. I just wished you guys delivered to my house...but then again maybe it is saver for me that you don't. ;)

I live in Northern CA where there are a lot of vegan options. I had Pi's gluten free crust with their house made cashew ricotta. Super delicious. My carnivore wife even says it's some of the best pizza she has ever had. Keep it up. We'll be back!!

Just fantastic pizza. Vegan or not excellent, I admit I am not vegan, I tend to eat little meat but I am not vegan per se. This was great pizza for anyone, we tried the sun dried tomato sauce which was phenomenal. The place is not fancy looking just simple table that you bus yourself, but one of the best pizzas I have had in my life. Give it a try!

Great pizza! The white sauce is super good! Cheesy sticks... mmm mm! I'm not a huge fan of the Peta stuff in there, if you're at a vegan pizzeria, they you probably don't want to look at the dead animals.... I'd drive quite the distance for the pizza though!

Just ate there for the first time tonight and HOLY CRAP that was tasty! I couldn't make up my mind on a pizza so I said "screw it" and just ordered the super sampler thing. I'm spoiled when it comes to vegan chicken because I moved here from Arizona and no vegan chicken is better than Green's, BUT this chicken wasn't bad. The garlic toasts were tasty and so was the spinach artichoke dip. What really made my night was the tomato garlic stuff and this white ranchy garlic dip. (sorry, don't remember what any of this stuff was called) I put the tomato/garlic stuff on the toasts and then poured the garlic ranch over top of that and OH MY GOD. I'll definately be trying a calzone or pizza the next time I need to go to Sidecar. (That's another plus...this place is right next to Sidecar for Pigs Peace)

I am really happy to have a vegan pizzeria right in my neighborhood and was excited (and nervous) to try it for the first time. The calzones are definitely something to try (and then consequently eat all the time), as is the cinnamon roll that they have on the weekends (soo gooood). My only complaint is the atmosphere. They could have the music a little louder (for the customers, not just for the employees) and it would be great if they could discover a way to let the air in. Although it was the dead middle of the summer, there could have been fans for the customers to stay a lil cool. All in all, visit and enjoy the calzones ! I am excited to try more stuff and will definitely go back, even though I may sit on the curb to eat it.

3 stars? 4 stars? I'm torn. (I've gone back and forth about three times while writing this review.) For vegans, I would say this place is pushing 5 stars. For people who appreciate cheese, it's really more like 3.5. I'm not a huge fan of the location--the ave north of 50th street seems kind of sketchy to me for some reason. Maybe I haven't just been there enough? I don't know, but I don't really like walking there. The decor is very industrial, and as it was pretty empty when we were there, it felt kind of sterile (clean, yes, but also clean in sort of a hospital-type-way) and unwelcoming. The employees were friendly enough, though. This is an order at the counter, seat yourself sort of place. You get your own plates, flatware, napkins, and water glasses from the table next to the register. They have a water dispenser (the cold water wasn't really that cold... But whatever), which dispensed water /very/ slowly. (Maybe it was just because it was getting empty?) I have the patience of a five year old, so I could only ever get my glass about 25% full before I would get fed up with the damn thing. Anyway. The menu was a little overwhelming for me. I'm not used to having so many options! (It's also important to note that while they do make fake meat, there are plenty of pizzas on the menu without it, as well as a make-your-own option. I hate fake meat, so I appreciated this.) Besides pizza, they also had calzones and sandwiches. I decided to limit myself to the pizza section (two pages, plus the make-your-own page), just so we wouldn't be there all night with me deciding. The pizza was good. I was a little skeptical--I'm a vegetarian, but not for ethical reasons primarily, and I do love cheese--but it really was tasty. I got The Pink Lady (pink sauce, spinach, potato, green olives, sun-dried tomatoes, all lightly sprinkled with vegan cheese, which didn't have much of a flavor as far as I could tell). I have to say, I think it would have been better (for me) with real cheese, but I appreciate that they make actually tasty vegan food. I also don't like really greasy pizza (yeah, cheese, I know I know), and this pizza had pretty much zero grease on it. It was really nice, and felt fairly healthy. (I was also relieved to learn that teese is primarily soy, and not anything trans-fatty or super weird.) I also tried a slice of my friend's white lightning (it had artichokes, potato, mushrooms, onions, and I don't remember what else), and it was pretty tasty too. The crust was decent, too--on the thinner side, nicely crispy on the outside, but also chewy on the inside. We took the leftovers home to my boyfriend, who ate them all--seven slices!--in one sitting. He said he felt a little sick to his stomach afterward, but I suspect that could just be because he ate /seven slices/ of pizza in one sitting. (They were piled pretty high with toppings. It was a lot of food.) I don't know if/when I'll be going back, as I'm not a big pizza lover or anything, but if a friend wanted to go, hey. It was pretty tasty, and not just "for a vegan place." I don't know if this is useful to anybody, but when I was there they had a note saying they weren't doing anything with "shrimp" any longer. They'll have the menus changed soon. Just, you know, FYI.

Been here a couple times, awesome everytime. Never had coconut on a pizza before but it was still damn good. Love the teese cheese vegan alternative much better than the daiya cheese, ive had them side by side on the same pizza, go for teese cheese its a no brainer its more flavorful, doesn't detract you from tasting the other ingredients like daiya, I always manage to grab a tube of it from them for home use. Love me some Pizza Pi.

Pizza Pi is has excellent pizza. The cashew ricotta is divine. Anything with seitan, while perhaps not the healthiest thing you can eat, is suuuper tasty. Not a great ambiance, but great food.

Admittedly I am an under the employ of pizza pi. I bake on the weekends and prepare cookies to be searved throughout the week. I don't have anything to do with the delishiousness of the pizza though. The old owner, playfully called "the pizza nazi", was grumpy and acted angry that people would want to order a pizza. The new ownership is great and pleasant. They've made a couple of changes as far as toppings, and done a little redecorating. We're begining to offer a gluten free crust that I devolped, so we will be the ONLY pizza place in seattle to offer a gluten free crust as far as I know. Come in and try it! all vegan pizzaria, seattle is so awesome...

Never had vegan food in my entire life, until purchasing a pizza here last night, talk about a pleasant surprise! This definitely wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, especially meat fanatics who love a circular grease bomb in a flat cardboard box. This was yummy, but I can tell it would require an acquired taste for some. The best thing about eating a vegan pizza I've found is not feeling sick afterwards like with a non. I had a medium veggie, it hit the spot, and felt like all the shitty qualities of a non-vegan pizza were removed. One thing visually/psychologically I haven't gotten used to is the fact the cheese didn't melt when put in the microwave, but that will soon pass. I see myself returning in a couple days, in less than 12 hours I've polished off an entire medium pizza by myself with the exception of one piece, and I find myself craving more!

Yeah, it looks sketchy. And if you were to rank me on a scale of 1 to 10 of how vegan I am, with 10 being the most vegan you could possibly be.... I would be a 1. But this is the freshest, dopest, tastiest, most gluten-free pizza* I have ever had. I wanted meat badly, so I asked for a pie with fake pepperoni. But there was gluten in the fake pepperoni, and all the other faux meat. So I chose the "Garden Delight." Ugh, soy cheese??!?! Yes, bro. Soy cheese. The pizza didn't exactly look like pizza in the traditional, Pizza Hut commercial sort of way, but that's what makes it so unique. I wasn't just scarfing another piece of pizza. I appreciated every bite and savored the fresh ingredients. It was good, and I'll be going back a lot. * there is no current scale for gluten-freeness, so "most gluten-free" is up to your imagination

Love this place. My man and I have tried lots of different pizzas here, and there hasn't been one time where we haven't looked at each other and said "this is sooo good". It's always delicious. The garlic & tomato sauces are both great, but I prefer the garlic one because it's so special. I try to take foreign friends here so they can try the awesome vegan pizza at Pizza Pi (it's almost always their first time eating vegan anything). Usually, I don't tell them that it's vegetarian, let alone vegan, since veganism is even scarier/more foreign to meat-lovers from meat-loving countries *cough--Korea* than vegetarianism is...and then when I tell them as we're eating, they freak out. "What!!? There's no meat?? But this is even better than regular pizza!! *nom nom nom*" Anyway, nowadays my man and I have a system; that is, we try not to eat anything all day, and then we go to Pizza Pi in the afternoon and can eat as much vegan pizza goodness as possible at once. Like, half a pizza each. And maybe breadsticks. And--I don't know why this is surprising, but it was to me--the pizza reheats well, too! Pizza Pi wins!

It is amazing that these are vegan. I fully expected some half-good fake cheese, but this is a real alternative, not a second choice. I can't eat the real cheese, so it is wonderful to have the option of eating a pizza again. Thanks Pizza Pi!

Super great food, it's a bonus that it's all VEGAN! You'd never be able to tell with the blue "cheese" dressing, "meat" ball sandwich, and GREAT pizza! Everything we've had here is great! I just wished the place was bigger...hopefully some day! Keep up the great work! :)

Veggies and friends of furry critters are guaranteed to love this place. But what about those of us who enjoy a nicely grilled medium-rare New York strip? Being one of those people I can tell you Pizza Pi isn't any less enjoyable. Food is fantastic and something different. Hard to hate. Put the macho diva attitude aside, quit acting like a priss and try something new. Lifestyle changes aren't required to eat here.

This is my absolute favorite food treat to myself. I've never had anything I didn't like here. It's almost too good to be true. I'm a pizza lover. Alas, I am scorned by lactose intolerance. It was dark days until I found Pizza Pi. My one true pizza love. I could eat like 20 of the phony pepperoni pizzas. It comes made with all of my favorite toppings already wanted. Delicious fake pepperoni, bell peppers and black olives. Pizza heaven. The calzones are also super amazing and HUGE. I would have to share one with a lucky friend. The sandwiches here are also very good. The no-meat ball sub is amazing. It's crazy messy but so worth it. They use Daiya cheese. It is the most delicious fake cheese know to man. They have a good assortment of natural sodas and the staff is super nice and pretty cute too. ;) Orders always come out speedy quick. Hooray! Now if I could just get them to deliver to my work... C'mon, it's only like 5 blocks away. :)

I'm new to trying to be a vegan. I say trying right now because as of four months ago, I ate meat! So the step to a vegan lifestyle is a gradual one for me. With that all said, I read the reviews about Pizza Pi and decided I had to check it out for myself. We ordered the sampler on the appetizer menu. They were out of the chicken(less) nuggets, but gave us a discount on everything else. The artichoke dip was delicious! We ordered a new pizza. I can't recall the exact name (St.Patrick's Day was in the title) but it had a spinach artichoke base, and broccoli, green peppers, and spinach. Everything was super delicious. My only complaint was that it was a bit too oily for my liking. I think it was the artichoke base. I get an upset stomach when I eat too much oil, and it came on pretty quickly upon eating here. I'll still definitely come back. A group of three that came in after us got a delicious looking salad, and I overheard someone at the other table mention their ranch sauce is that best they've ever had. Definitely going to try that next time!

Oh my! I came here with my boyfriend last night after every place we wanted to eat at was closed (Chaco Canyon, Garam Masala, La Casa del Mojito). I was skeptical since I'm a big cheese person but hey, I thought, let's give it a try. We ordered the Ricotta-Kalamita pizza (small) and a small organic vegan ginger ale. Mmm. The pizza was delicious, big enough for both of us to get full and for me to have lunch the next day, AND tasted like the real stuff from Tutta Bella. I wish the basil was fresh, but it was tasty nonetheless. The olives were delicious and the homemade cashew ricotta was lip-smacking tasty. As my boyfriend put it, "This is what crust ought to taste like." I couldn't agree more! I microwaved it for l lunch the next day and it still tasted as good as ever. I'm no deep-dish fan so the light, airy crust was oh-la-la. Now this is my go-to place for pizza on the ave. I don't like meats on my pizza anyway so it works out perfectly. Sorry Tutta Bella, you're just too far away. Since I found this place my confusion as to why people order from Ragazzi or A Pizza Mart has tripled. Maybe they just like eating table grease for supper. Great place, highly recommend!

This place still rocks even though it's under new ownership! I love this pizza. I hear they serve beer here now, which will make this place even more awesome! I'm excited for the new owners!

Good lord, my heart flutters when I think about Pizza Pi. Here, on a blustery evening, you can settle into a warm corner with some friends and feast on a delicious 100% vegan pizza. It doesn't end with pizza, though. These folks get crazy with "cheezy bread," salads, VEGAN ROOT BEER FLOATS, and ever-expanding offerings you'd find at a non-veg pizza spot. The list of toppings is long, ranging from more traditional pizza accoutrements to items that may tickle an adventurous eater. Your pizza experience is as good as your ability to coordinate your toppings, although they have a variety of creative combos predestined for your mouth. The garlic sauce is, dare I say, creamy. The garlic sauce didn't taste vegan at all - no lingering soy aftertaste, no heavy nutritional yeast flavor. Pi serves up vegan cheese in the form of Teese brand "cheeze," which doesn't look like cow cheese, but tastes good enough to hit the dairy craving of most vegans. It doesn't look like melted mozzarella and won't fool a non-vegan, but it's a great offering from the cholesterol-free side of life. Coming from the east coast, I find that pizza crust (vegan or not!) often doesn't measure up over on the left coast. Pizza Pi delivers, though. The crust is crisp, delicious, and folds over to protect your delicious toppings the way a pizza crust should. If I could change one thing about my night at PIZZA PI, I would order the soda float without soy whipped topping. It's a nice gesture, but I really don't like the way it tastes. Otherwise, mangia, mangia.

"Inexplicably delicious". Those two words sum up my first experience with this lunchtime oxymoron, a vegan restaurant specializing in of one of America's most celebrated meat and cheese dishes, pizza. They're also why this is not a two star review. Pizza Pi is one of those restaurants on the Ave that I've resisted going to, even though I only live five blocks away, because the atmosphere just plain sucks. There's dives, and then there's this: a floor so dingy and dirty that it reminds you of a high school locker room. To the point I'm not sure I would want to eat meat here if they served it. It's clear they've made an attempt to brighten the place up a bit - the walls are a nice shade of purple - but the lack of lighting renders the paint job useless. This place was a dungeon at one o' clock with the sun out; and the sole person on duty seemed to be feeling it. She took my order quickly enough, but she really didn't seem to want to be on shift. On the plus side...and this is a big plus...the Ricotta-Kalamata personal pizza that I ordered was delicious. I'm not actually a vegan but I still found the cashew ricotta delightful. It was a tad wetter than a real ricotta but otherwise the mouth feel was comparable, and most importantly, it had that rich 'umami' taste. It wasn't just good fake ricotta, it was great whatever-it-was (tofu and cashews?) ricotta. The olives were also ripe and bursting with flavor, and the marinara sauce was decent. Slightly sweet, but since I lean more toward having a sweet tooth, that was okay by me. All in all, a place I would actually be willing to come back to...just hopefully they will mop their damn floor before I show up next time :P

First. I am not vegan but one of my closest friends is and I found this place while looking for restaurants that were A -OK for them as well as me. I have a lapband so generally pizza is a big no no for me as crust tends to be to doughy. But this crust was amazing... We started with the artichoke heart and garlic dip and a few little grape tomatoes on top...Amazing and it came with gluten free bread which was had just a slight crisp to it that it worked super well for me. The taste was amazing. Very full flavored and delightful...I would be tempted just to go and get that! We both got the mushroom pizza minus the olives. They gave us the option of adding something instead of the olives. My friend added broccoli and had regular crust and I added cooked onions with the gluten free crust as the cook said it was more crispy than the regular. The broccoli was huge and green but didn't fit so well with the pizza according to my friend and she felt the onions fit better as I shared my because of my limited stomach space. The only thing we both thought was rather than the sauce they used it sort of reminded us of mayo....we would have preferred the artichoke garlic dip as our sauce. In fact next time I think I might see if they will do that. I had never had soy cheese and it was pretty tasty. My friend had the concord grape soda which I stole a very small sip of (can't drink a whole can every) and it tasted delightful! My only complaint is that almost all of there beverages were carbonated. So I had a choice of tea or water, which worked fine for me but it would have been delightful if they had some sort of juice. We also found out that they recently took over Wayward Cafe...which I went to last year and had the worst meal of my life but if the pizza was this good then it might be worth trying out Wayward again because I had a delightful lunch/dinner with leftovers :)

I still absolutely adore Pizza Pi. But it is an expensive option for students who want to eat vegetarian/ vegan. I didn't mind the thin crust earlier but these days I think they are only slightly thicker than a pita bread. Also, the wait time has not improved either. But definitely one of my most favorite places to eat.

Forewarning: I'm vegan, so when I say this place rocks... I'm comparing it to vegan pizzas elsewhere. I think this is the best vegan pizza in Seattle. My husband and I had a great lunch here, we split a pizza. I loved it - he's a non-veg, so he was a bit more ambivalent. He liked it, but his fondness was not as enthusiastic as mine. It DID taste a bit healthy, be forewarned. I like health and I am into that, but if you're looking for dripping greasy food, go elsewhere. This place does have awesome vegan cheese. We have a St. Louis pizza with smoked cheese on it... so good. The decor's alright, a bit bare in seating, but it was relaxing and delicious and I cannot wait to go back.

My wife and I have been enjoying this place for over 3 years and 3 different owners. I think the current management has gotten it right - there's almost too many choices for the hungry vegan! Be sure to get plenty of garlic sauce for dipping; I could almost eat that stuff straight. I find the white sauce superior to the red for most pies, but they're both good. The staff have always been friendly to us, and I've never had them screw up a take-out order. If they delivered, I'd be ordering every week. Heck, if I didn't have a job, I'd apply to be their driver!

So seriously, not a joke or any sort of hype - best vegan food I've ever had (and the best artichoke spinach dip I've had including non-veg). I live in San Francisco - and we have plenty of great vegan options... but the food here is simply amazing. We dragged along our non-vegan friend who ended up LOVING it and said she would absolutely go vegan if all the food was this good! I would consider coming to seattle again just for this restaurant. Vegan or not (it all is!!!) - it's just really, really good food. Love it, love it, love it. The meatball sub was incredible - and HUGE. I ate way too much and still have half of it left to go. And for 8 bucks? You have to be kidding me. This place is unreal. True mom and pop business too... really kind people. They just recently opened for lunch - so be sure and hit them up. This is truly a vegan's paradise. Please, please, please show your support so this place stays open forever. Local vegan heaven on a plate. What more do you need?

I am 90% vegetarian (I eat fish and meat once a while when my body needs them) and had never been a vegan because I love baked goods...but since I found this restaurant, I think I can try to be a vegan. I went there last Wednesday with my friends who are NOT vegetarian at all, though one of them likes the idea of being a vegetarian. Most of us were not sure about eating pizza that doesn't have dairy/eggs...I hadn't even had vegan cheese before, so I was a bit skeptical, too. But, guess what? We all loved the pizza at Pizza Pi and I am definitely go back there SOON. The crust was thin and crispy with butter flavor (which I don't know how they do it). Their ricotta cheese sauce is super yummy with lots of garlic. And the tomato sauce...on top of that, I saw a few family group with small children and they seemed to love the vegan pizza as well...awww, thinking about their pizza just makes me hungry (owww, my tummy is growling right now...I guess I'm going there for lunch today)!!! So, if you are trying to be vegetarian or just want to try something new and different, I highly recommend this place :)

Update: the Owner of Pizza Pi sent me a message to right things, so I'm gonna give them onemore star simply because I think that was super nice. If I'm ever back in Seattle, I'll give this spot another chance. However, I really still don't agree with the explanation that tipping should be for home made ingredients/to keep a living wage for the employees. Ingredients, even if they are really amazing, should be included within the price of the food. Also, i get that wages can suck. I worked at Home Depot and let me tell you....ain't nobody ever tip me there! I still think that at a restaurant where you aren't really waited on, tipping is optional/should be done AFTER meal/services received. Also, all of that aside, asking somebody "...You aren't going to TIP?!" is not the way to do it.

I ate here when I was in Seattle and loved the food -- I had a Vegan alfredo sauce pizza with spinach and faux meat. I haven't been there since the new management took over, but it sounds like it's better than before. ;)

Vegan ain't only pizza at the pi! Amazingly wonderful desserts too - the peanut butter ala mode is a ticket to nirvana! Mmm! I'm new to the vegan scene so this is a poser's review -- First, if the crust isn't good, there is no sense in continuing.... The crust is crispy, tasty. On the thin side yet can handle the pie. The teese cheese is an amazing alternative to dairy. The combinations are endless so be creative and tango with you taste buds .... you won't be disappointed! Ambiance is cool for a urban casual setting. Nothing fancy. Interesting art. All the people employed were friendly, helpful, and, spirited. Felt welcomed with a sincerity to have you back! Always a nice touch when leaving. One of them even recognized up while serving us at their partner diner down the street a few days later -- nice!

I debate between 4 and 5 stars....I would be satisfied with a 4.5 star rating methinks. Ordered the BBQ chicken pizza and cheesesticks. Okay so the cheesesticks are smothered in this cream-cheese looking concoction which is highly edible. It comes with marinara and white garlic sauce that tasted deceptively like ranch. The white garlic ranch-like sauce is the crowning achievement of this establishment. Their signature dish. I was so perplexed by it's flavor...no butter? no animal fat? no cheese!? What made it taste so delicious and fattening?! Was it carrot lard? Angelina Jolie sweat? Baby tears? WHAT IS IT?! I was walking the yellow line to the bathroom and saw an innocent employee pouring magic mystery white dipping sauce of earthly gods and quickly estimated how long it would take me to get out the door with it...but then realized I wouldn't be allowed back and I will for sure be going back. Ain't no holding me back from Pizza Pi, oh no. The chicken on the BBQ chicken pizza was really good, though the rest was a little "meh" (perhaps I was still too seduced by magic white dipping sauce). Do they sell this stuff!? Update the morning after: my intestines hate me. I don't know what happened, but I don't think they agree with my review. Also, I gained 6 pounds since dinner last night. I now firmly believe there was some evil veggie lard in that magic white sauce.
