Whenever I go to Pike Place Market, it's always a debate to the death between here and Cinnamon Works. Do I want their cinnamon cardamom braid, a savory piroshky, or do I want their apple cinnamon roll? Roll a d20 to determine what kind of pastry to get. Okay, so that was a little overboard. My bad. This place though. It's charming, and while it's right in the middle of Tourist Central, don't walk by it without stopping at least once. Your stomach will thank you for it! It's always a plus to watch them make it in front of your face. I never walk by without stopping to watch for at least five seconds. It's a very enlightening five seconds. It's a very deliciously enlightening five seconds. It might even turn into a deliciously enlightening five minutes when you pop your wallet open and eat one of their treats. Please stop and think about all the piroshkies that need a home in your stomach. I personally recommend the cinnamon cardamom braid and any of their piroshkies.

I think I died and went to heaven. This is the mecca for all us carb lovers out there. I previously thought that my little hole in the wall bagel place in Manhattan was tops, but this just gave the bagel store a violent shove into second place. Potatoes and beef and cheese and mushrooms all folded delicately into a flaky pastry puff. HEAVEN! This was so good that I took a picture of one of the piroshkys and sent it to my mother who promptly responded with a demand to bring some home with me. So off I went ordering 6 more in a travel box. Next time through I think I might try the smoked salmon piroshky and one of their sweeter dessert piroshkys. And, you definitely can't beat pairing a delicious piroshky with a Starbucks latte from a few doors down. Only in Seattle and only in Pike's Place Market!

AMAZINGLY delicious pastries here!! Everyone who's been to Seattle unanimously agrees that this is a MUST try. A lot of the places are small in this market and can be difficult to find, but I kid you not, your nose will lead the way. Before even seeing the sign, we all smelled this wonderful aroma of baked goodness... and it's not your average smell of baked goods either like dough-nuts or anything like that.. I can't explain it exactly but it draws you to them whether you've heard about them before or not. You can see them baking pastries in the window and everything is fresh! They have sweet & savory but the sweet I found is the best! There's so many different pastries it's hard to choose from. Actually, when we came here we were already full from chowder but we couldn't resist! I had the coffee Cinnamon roll which is huge but I still managed to devour it. It had the perfect combination of both flavors: it didn't taste like I was chewing on coffee grounds and it didn't taste like I was eating a cinnabon either. It was just right and even better with coffee. The other pastries that I really liked was the marzipan, the chocolate cream hazelnut roll (sweet but had a good strong hazelnut flavor), apple cinnamon roll (apples were nicely cooked and tasty), and those light powdered sugared fluff sticks (can't remember the name) but I could have eaten 10 of those myself they melt in your mouth!! SO awesome, we came here right before we left for the airport so we could take these goodies home to share with everyone else. I also tried a couple of their savory pastries like the mozzarella mushroom & broccoli (which was okay), and the potato onion and cheese (i thought was REALLY good and the potatoes gave it a really nice texture and flavor). I still love the sweet pastries hands down one of the best I've ever had. I only wish that they were served warm but even at room temperature they're still my favorite. :)

Had a sample of the Whole Baked Apple and the Cheese Garlic Onion Roll while on the Savor Seattle tour, but I wanted to try some of the other ones so I went back the next day and tried to order the Smoked Salmon Pate but it was sold out so I ordered the Cabbage Onion. It was very simple and plain, just the way I like it. Came back on the last day during my visit and finally got to try the Smoked Salmon. It was so flavorful. It was a bit too creamy after a few bites but if you're a fan of salmon and cream cheese, then you'll love it. My boyfriend ordered the Beef & Cheese, but ended up finishing my Salmon piroshki since he liked it so much.

I can only give 3 stars because the ONE thing I wanted, they ran out of. No apple cinnamon roll for me :( Husband enjoyed his beef & cheese, though.

I got the beef and cheese piroshky and it was good. I deducted a star because I was overcharged on my credit card.I only got one item which was no more than $5, however I was charged $9.07. I don't know, maybe the clerk has chubby fingers and accidentally hit the wrong button. I really should have checked my receipt before I left. But regardless, the employees there should really be checking what they're inputting into the credit card machine. If you're paying with a credit card, CHECK YOUR RECEIPT TO MAKE SURE YOU GOT CHARGED ACCURATELY.

My first official Piroshky. Piroshky. It's a name so nice, they named it twice! I think my favorite thing about coming here is finding someone with a thick Russian accent standing outside the shop inhaling the smells of tastiness surrounding them, and feeling like they've momentarily been whisked back to a familiar land. Seems like every time I've gone by, there's at least one person standing in the line reminiscing about how wonderful this place smells and what it reminds them of. It brings a smile to my face in a familiar sort of way. I picked up a marionberry and a blueberry tart during my first stop here. They were reasonably priced, and they came in their own perfect sized little white boxes. I took them back to my car and devoured one while sitting in the driver's seat. I still had time on my parking tag, and I was going to enjoy it - safely. The alternative was to drive while trying to eat that thing, and it didn't look like it would be conducive to that sort of thing. It did drip a wee bit, so I am glad I chose to sit and enjoy a tasty treat. I need to stop and enjoy things like that more often. Of course, there is the item on "the list" - the apple cinnamon roll. Now this cinnamon roll uses fresh apples, and they're not "candied" and softened quite like most apple cinnamon rolls you're used to. The skins stay on the apples. The cinnamon rolls are also more wide than they are tall. There isn't any glazing on them, but frankly, they don't need them. They're delicious just the way they are, and glazing would probably only make them too sweet. We picked up one of the apple cinnamon rolls and agreed to share it. I cut it in half and microwaved it for about 30 seconds one morning while the claimant of the other half was asleep. He had better be really, really glad I exercised great restraint by not eating his half and announcing that I wasn't even sorry about it. That thing was just soooo delicious. I highly recommend waiting to eat it while it is warm. If you don't stop by there when they are fresh out of the oven, take it home, nuke it for 30 seconds, and enjoy. Why 4 stars? Sometimes service can be slow and not just because there are plenty people waiting in line.

Best place at Pike Place Market! I go there every time, be ready for a long line, but is worth it.

Update. We have been back there on every Seattle road trip. You just have to ask for sour cream & voila: HEAVEN. Savoury goodness. They have sweet versions too. LOTS of fillings to choose from. It's in the heart of the market (near Beecher's Cheese) but even THAT doesn't deter us.

We loved this place but it's changed over the past couple years. The food quality has gone down and the portions are very light

  • Swandi M.

Love it! Everytime when I walked by, I can hardly resist not to go in. The smell of fresh bakery is awesome!!! I used to grab two at a time -- I could finish one on my way to work, the other one for my lunch. My favorite? .. oh .. hard to choose ... Potato Mushroom & Onion, Beef & Cheese, Chicken Mushroom & Rice ... they all taste very good. If you come to visit Pike Place Market, remember to check this place out!

  • Matt H.

Fun! Love the sweet and savory options. Best to get here early, as the line gets a little annoying later in the day.

  • Robyn B.

Don't let the line intimidate you - this place is worth it! Everything is good here, including the borsh soup. My family's favorites: beef and cheese piroshky, cabbage and onion piroshky, and the apple piroshky! (The apple sells out very quickly fyi, get there early if you can.) Friendly service. The place itself is teensy with only a few seats, so grab your piroshky then walk across the street to enjoy your snack while soaking up the view of Puget Sound :)

Of all the times I've been here I can't believe I haven't written a review. I honestly have to say that i want to try so many things here but there's just too many places I want to eat when I'm at Pike Place Market. Therefore, I always get my go to and that's the Smoked Salmon Pate Piroshky. They sell out of these a lot so consider yourself lucky if you can get your hands on one. The bread on the outside is soft and not too much bread that you feel like that's all you are eating. The inside is a little creamy and a hint of salty goodness.

  • Patrick C.

How can you go wrong with a Pirschky? It's like a classy hot pocket, can't beat that. They have a nice staff and the food is great on the go.

  • Anneliese P.

We stopped here because we saw EVERYONE with their bags. We grabbed our coffee at The Original Starbucks, and needed something food wise for breakfast. We had 2 different kinds of the Piroshkys. Both were delicious.

A cute little shop. I highly recommend the savoury piroshkys as they were amazing! The rhubarb piroshky was delicious warm as well haha

Lovely. Simply perfect. The lines can get long during high traffic times, so I tend to only go during off hours.

  • Sheila Y.

K...so this is the best piroshky place in Seattle! It is absolutely perfect as a light lunch on your trip to the Pike Place tourist trap. I love the Smoked Salmon and anything with cheese and spinach. My true love however is any of their sweet offerings. The marzipan, apple, or nutella-esque piroshkys are all amazing. Here is the catch...you must eat them right away...saving them, even for a few hours ruins the goodness. They are seriously like the coach in Cinderella, turning to crap within a short amount of time. So get thee to Piroshky, order enuf for one sitting and go to town!

  • Rosemary T.

Oregon friends recommended that I stop in for some delicious pastries- and I'm so glad I did! I went early on Monday morning so there was no line. The smoked salmon pate and chocolate hazelnut are absolutely delicious! It would be worth the wait if you happen to pass by and there's a crowd :)

  • Leith S.

These pastries were amazing! There's a line but it moves very quickly and is well worth it. Over the few days I was in Seattle I tried the Beef & Onion, Salmon Pate and the Apricot Turnover. All were great but the savoury ones especially stood out. The smell even from down the street is soothing and inviting.

  • Rebecca H.

Didn't know what a Piroshky was but I saw the line and figured it must be popular so I tried one. I told the guys Im vegan but wanted something not sweet and they gave me a good recommendation for a savory piroshky and it was very good.

Freaking nom. I don't eat fish, so no Salmon for me. I texted my Russian roommate back home while I was in line and she was like "get that chocolate hazelnut one!" So I did. For savory: The garlic and cheddar cheese was BOMB. NOT greasy--greasy pastries are huge turn-offs for me. Like hairy toes and when people suck their teeth. Anyway--we ate it hot and it's circular rolls soothed my craving fatty, flaky goodness. The chocolate hazelnut one was almost like a marzipan/hazelnut paste inside with real hazelnut chunks. We brought it home and reheated it and it was STILL delish. I'm sure if it was fresh it would have been even more phenomenal.

Like other people have said, do not bother with the sweet stuff. Beef & Cheese or Beef & Cheese all the way! If the name even sounds remotely appetizing to you, I promise you cannot go wrong! This place was delicious, delicious, delicious!!! The place itself might be small, and sure we had to eat on the street outside, I think it can be worth the wait though! My personal opinion is that NO food (no matter how delicious) is worth waiting over 45 min for. We waited in line for about 15 min, and it wasn't so bad at all, Highly highly recommend!

  • Nichole F.

I was having a baa-a-ad day the other day. My ever-supportive and sympathetic boyfriend said "Oh baby, just go get yourself a Piroshky and you'll feel much better." I could end my review with that comment and the 5 stars and call it good. But, in the interest of all things Yelp, I will continue. I suggest: White Chocolate Cherry (very sweet, always on low stock because they're so popular), my favorite Cinnamon Cardamom (lightly sweet with a hit of orange), and the Apple Cinnamon (lightly sweet, good for non-adventurous eaters). I am not a savory piroshky kind of gal, but people seem to love them. Actually, people seem to love all of them. There are always groups of people meandering around Pike Market with the bright yellow Piroshky Piroshky bags, eyes glazed over, bumping into things, pastry crumbs on their faces. They're thinking "Yeah. If I were to be struck down my lightening or an errant delivery van right at this moment, it would not matter. As long as I can finish my Piroshky in the ambulance ride."

  • Ryan L.

Was never a big fan of pastries but this place almost made me do a backflip. The place smells fantastic and the selection is massive and already made for the taking. The hole-in-a-wall joint can only fit about 5 customers before it gets awkwardly cramped. Cheese roll was amazing, savory beyond comprehension. The spinach, egg, and cheese piroshki was a bit overgracious in their ratio of spinach, but it wasn't bad. The beef and onion pastry was way too salty. No thanks!

By far, the greatest bakery I've ever been to. Everyone needs to try it. I got their Oscar Star, which I scarfed down and their Apple Cinnamon Roll, which was warm, soft and delicious! Their cream cheese frosting they put on some of their pastries is amazingly good. I also tried my sisters potato piroshky, and it was amazing! But the thing that struck me most was the beautiful smell! I walked by and I literally stopped in my tracks. When the smell of buttery dough and sugar and cinnamon hit my nose, I HAD to try it! The line was pretty darn long, but it went by quickly and I soon scarfed down what I bought.

Pastries are amazing. Drop by before 9:30am or after 5pm (most days this works, though during tourist season all bets are off...) to try and avoid the line the inevitably forms for the baked amazingness turned out daily at this Market standby.

We spend a recent Saturday exploring Pike's Market, the smells coming from this place were amazing, I ordered this huge apple cinnamon thingy and couldn't believe I ate the whole thing myself. My guy had a meat filled pastry and he equally loved it. This place will be a must do for me in Seattle.

Oh my God. I do remember this place. If you're hungry and just hitting the market in the morning, it is the spot to hit to curb the appetite. Maybe twice. We had the potato and cheese once in the morning and then another later that day. Might need to go back and bring some of these things back in my suitcase.

  • Ivan H.

If you have never tried a Piroshky you really should. The potato and cheese are my favorite my wife loves the salmon one and the kids love the Cream of Wheat one as they called it. Just make sure you go at an off time as the line gets insane.

Just had the onion and cabbage piroshky which I was very pleasantly surprised about... Being on the food network i wanted to check it out and the veggie options for me were plenty.... Will go back again...Line sometimes is long but I had a 15 min wait at best ... Def worth it

  • Kat E.

The long line you see as you approach Piroshky Piroshky is just the first sign of how delicious this place is !!!! Believe me staying in that long line is so worth it! (It also moves pretty quickly) I had a beef and cheese piroshky as its heaven wrapped in bread it's so flavorful!

  • Stephanie E.

LOVE PIROSHKYS!!!!!!! Every time I come to Seattle I GOTTA HAVE THEM! Lines are pretty long so be prepared to stand for a while. Great assortment of both sweet and savory. If you are a meat person, definitively try their meet piroshky.

    (5)
  • Melissa A.

I'm pretty biased towards any sweet pastry treat, but these are really great treats. They have both sweet and savory piroshkys to cover whatever mood you're in. My favorite are the cinnamon cardamom braid and smoked salmon pate. The line moves fairly quickly so it is It is sooo worth standing in line for these little treats!

    (4)
  • Christine S.

Short and simple: bust out $5.10/item and order - Beef and Cheese (a best seller!): taste awesome if you're bringing it home and eating later too! - Beef and Onion: flaky on the outside, moist and flavorful on the inside. The contrast is just bomb dot com. Two years ago, each item was almost $4, so I'm not too surprised prices have jumped a little. Totally worth it though! Line moves fast, so don't be scared when you see the line snack onto the street. Pro-tip: grab a piroshky and then walk over to Pike Place Chowder's line. The wait for chowder will feel significantly shorter when you're munching on some deliciousness!

I walked by a bunch of bakeries on Pike's Market, but the smell radiating from this one made me stop in my tracks. The lines usually stretches out behind the door, but moves very fast so don't be discouraged! While you're waiting in line, you can look at a poster of pastry pictures to see what pastries the store may offer, but sometimes they have other ones, and often run out of some as well. So don't set your mind until you actually see what pastries are available in the store. We got the potato & cheese piroshky, mushroom spinach & cheese piroshky, and an apple cinnamon piroshky. I don't usually like breakfast apple pastries but this one was good. The softened cinnamon apple pieces in the soft buttery warm bread... DROOL. It's even good when it gets cold. The other were very savory and good to eat on a cold day. Savory or sweet- both are good. Just depends on your preference. Just FYI- there are absolutely no seats inside; just a bakery display and register. Expect to eat on the go, or enjoy your pastry later. We got four pastries and paid around $16. Not the cheapest pieces of bread, but definitely worthwhile if you're in the area!

If you can stand the never ending long lines, this place is oh so worth the time. Just standing there breathing in the tantalizing fresh baked aromas will have you feeling special foodie emotions like nothing else. Once you actually get one of these bad boys in your grubby little hands, you will at first enjoy the warmth of a pastry that is solid yet fragile and just waiting for you to venture in and take a bite. Now you've come to that moment when you actually get to taste the devilishly delicious delights. Seriously, you may never be the same after experiencing just how tasty these things are. My personal favorites are the beef and cheese piroshky and the smoked salmon pate piroshky. Oddly enough, I have never purchased one of their sweet pastries which I suppose just gives me good reason to make a return trip. Service is friendly and they are about as efficient as can be when it comes to moving people through the line. This place is like an assembly line that's sole focus is on producing big piles of awesome for people to enjoy. If you happen to find yourself wandering around in Pike Place Market, just follow your nose and it will eventually lead you to the piroshky promised land.

Went here for the first time with my boyfriend while we were visiting and we fell in love with it! Our friend took us here during their happy hour (everything was around $3). We tried a variety of piroshkies and all of them were delicious. So delicious that we went back the next day and bought 6 more! Can't wait to visit again and get more!

Why hath thou forsaken me, my friend. . . Piroshky Piroshky is one of the first things I eat at The Market. I am not much of a bread person but I am a cheese person. . . I LOVE cheese and they have these cheddar and green onion bread/roll things that are just fantabulous - I make a bee line straight there and happily nibble on cheesy/bready goodness as I stroll through the madness of The Market. Nothing gets to me .. . it's all bliss and melted cheese. Then, on my last trip, I deviated from the norm and ordered a beef and cheese piroshky. . .jesus sweet lord - YUM. Melty, beefy, cheesy blob of deliciousness. I could not wait to have another. Well, as we all know, or I guess as anyone who's ever been to the market knows, it's a tourist magnet along the lines of Fisherman's Wharf and we all know how ugly it gets there during tourist season . . .well the Market gets equally as awful and on this Memorial Day weekend it was absolutely ridiculous. . . walking through the market made me feel like one of the unfortunate salmons that were on display. . .I now knew how those poor guys felt when they were trying to swim upstream to spawn . .. I might not have been trying to swim upstream against all odds to git spawnin' but I was almost that excited to get my precious beef and cheese piroshky. I finally made it to the wee cubicle that is home of beef and cheese manna. . .there was a line. .. a huge line but when you're in love, these things matter not. I waited patiently. Finally there were only two more people ahead of me in line. . .beef and cheese piroshky contact was imminent. Then this middle aged lady with the big, brassy fake red hair ordered the LAST beef and cheese piroshky. The counter guy yells out last one and pulls the little display card. WHY GOD WHY!!!!?!?!?!?!?! Had I not waited patiently? Was I not polite as I made my way through the idiot tourists? I did not deserve this!!!!! The guy in front of me also heaved a sigh and we looked at each other with an understanding that can only come from being so close and yet so far from what you want. I resigned myself to a cheese and green onion roll and sulked off into a corner to eat my consolation prize. It was good, sure, but as I unwound the spirals of dough, it became clear that my roll was RAW in the middle. Not just undercooked, but raw. Sigh. Gluttony is one of the seven sins and I was paying. The bakery was so slammed that they had pulled the rolls too early. There was a homeless dude sitting nearby and I asked him if he wanted the rest with the warning that it was undercooked - he made a face and said "No, thanks, what I really like the beef and cheese thingy." You and me both, brother! Then, tragically, as I headed out towards the crowded street, I saw brassy redheaded lady tossing half of the (MY) beef and cheese piroshky into the garbage! Philistine! All in all, though my current tale is sad, Piroshky Piroshky is the place for great beef and cheese piroshky (sniff), cheese rolls and the creamy/cheesy pastry with cherries, chocolate or berries are also very, very good.. . just avoid it at peak tourist time.

  • Leon C.

I had the beef and cheese piroshky and it was pretty good. Smoked salmon is really good. Taste like salmon cream cheese but warm. Rhubarb one looks better than it tastes. It taste like it has jam in it. Rice and mushroom or chicken is really good. It's Meaty and is filling. And it has a crispy shell. If you get here in the morning, there's no line but if you wait till after noon, there's a pretty long line. But it's worth it. The smell is great and pastries are delightful. Dont come here is you're hungry though because you're not going to get full off of these. Each pastry is about $4 - $5 and it should be eaten slowly so you can savor the taste.

:( Sad Face!! I have been wanting to try this place for months. Last time the fam and I were at the Market, I waited in the line. I bought the Whole baked apple and the salmon cream pirshky. The flaky doe was amazing! the salmon...not so much. And I wish the apple would of been sweeter??? I will def try again, but with a different kind of piroshky.

Smoked Salmon - fish shaped and was yummy in my tummy Onion/Potato/Cheese - funny smell (no, I don't think it was the onions, maybe it was the oil?), carb overload as it already is but wanted to try it anyways. A bit heavy. Maybe I would have liked it more if I ate it fresh and hot (...was already satisfied sharing the smoked salmon and didn't have room to eat more!) Would come back for the smoked salmon!

What everyone else said. It's a must visit if you ever go to Seattle. tons of variety from sweet to savory flavors. Take your pick. Made fresh daily and you can see the guy rolling the dough by the window. Took one star out b/c the counter person gave me a beef and onion when I asked for beef and cheese. Not good. It was also raining that day so we asked for a plastic bag ( the horror!) and she gave us one w/ one broken handle. Imagine carrying our goodies in the rain w/ a broken plastic bag?! It was not fun.

I went here based on a recommendation. The line was looong, but it moved at a decent pace. They have about 20+ selections, and a good list of both sweet and savory. I, of course, chose sweet. We were there on a Saturday around 4-5pm, and they were out of the one I wanted (the 5-star something or other). I got the chocolate and nutella one instead. It was around $4. The pastry was flaky, warm (YES!) and delicious! I think maybe I should have gotten the cinnamon twist one instead, but you know what they say about hindsight... Wish I could go back and try them all :D

Get the smoked salmon pate piroshky. It was a lovely marriage between 3 of my many loves: smoked salmon, pate, and bread. I gobbled that up super quick before heading to the airport. Now I regret not hoarding some with me onto the plane. Btw. Notice how so many of these reviewers are from California? We are in desperate need of good piroshkis. Please bring them over here.

Their piroshky are BOAM !!! If your gonna come here on a weekend expect huge line but if you got great company with you the line will go by fast . My fav is beef and cheese I tried most of them but this one is my fav. Don't leave Pikes Place without visiting awesome piroshky place :-) you'll love it !

Been here multiple times. Yes it's a "must do" while in Seattle.. but really it's not so amazing IMO. Tasty dough pockets with various fillings. I had the beef n onion... sorry gang but this thing gave me the shits bad. Couldn't stop faring and sitting my brains out. Wow. Won't do that again . Stick with beef and cheese. Prices a bit high... worth going to once or twice. Wouldn't drive out of the way though just to get it. Parking is a biotch.

Piroshky Piroshky is amazing. Their Beef & Cheddar is one of my favorite things to eat from anywhere. The bread is perfect and the whole piroshky is just out of this world. One of the best things to get in Pike Place and in Seattle. You MUST stop by and grab one when you're in town!!!

This was a clear 5 star for me i came here because i had a food tour and walking by you can just tell this place is great. you can smell the bread being baked when you walk by and you immediately get hungry dont let the line fool you, when you walk by it looks short, but it wraps around the building but still its not that bad actually. so i decided to try the meat and cheese, the meat and onion, and this chocolate one. the meat and cheese was by far my favorite. The bread is amazing and its slipped into a yellow bag so you can eat on the go, as theres no seating available inside. But wow was it good!! the meat was super hot and fresh. the cheese mix was amazing. i couldnt eat enough. i was full but kept eating! the second was was the meat and onion. i guess everything is better with cheese but this was #2 on my favorite things to get here. the crust was SUPER flakey and pretty wet actually...but it was good! just would prefer the meat and cheese. the chocolate piroshky was not that great...the chocolate tasted like dry pudding. but just stick with the meat and cheese and youl LOVE this place! we also sampled the apple pie piroshky, it was delicious. it was just a little taste but it was nice warm, flakey, and perfect!

Sad to say I was disappointed today. Over-cooked and I really only ate out of the middle. The cheese was brown and hard on the outside of my roll. I didn't ask for another because they all looked the same. I waited for them to open and spent 2 hours walking around other open

There's a reason the lines are so long - You can't get anything quite like it in Seattle. The delicious piroshkies, if you've never had them, are sort of like calzones but the breading is more like a crescent - flaky and buttery.

I dont' get what all the hype is about. I suppose I just prefer my piroshkys (piroshkies?) fried instead of baked. Don't get me wrong, these were still good, just not OMG great. I suppose if you're not used to savory pastries, they're quite a tasty novelty, but I didn't think they were anything special, much less waiting 20+ minutes in line special. Also some of them, like the chicken-mushroom-rice, are super flakey, which translates into a total mess when eating them.

You can't miss the amazing smell walking by pike place! I had the beef and cheese and the flavor was amazing and filling. Must get while in Seattle!

  • Doug E.

Shared the ham, cheese & spinach, as well as the beef & cheese with my wife. Both were wonderful, hot, flaky, and just all around wonderful. There was a bit of a line on the sidewalk, but it went very very quick. Don't let the line on the sidewalk scare you away. My only quibble might be that the ham wasn't evenly distributed, but even without the ham in every bite, it was completely tasty.

The salmon pate and cinnamon apple roll were amazing I could have ate one everyday we were there! Definitely worth the wait!

Took my partner's parents and brother here for lunch while visiting Pike Place (one of the few truly worthwhile tourist spots in Seattle, even if it IS overrated). They had never had piroshky! Soft, yummy bread and very tasty insides - I had the cabbage and carrot and it was delish. Also got the orange cardamom bread - YUM.

Super tasty and cheap. The lines move fast, so don't worry about the wait. I enjoy potato and cheese. Great place to bring visitors when you need a quick snack while visiting the market.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! The best Russian Bakery! The service was very friendly as well. If you haven't been there, you must go now!

Smoked Salmon Pate!! So amazingly amazing!! I went back to wait in line for another one. First of all the bread they use= soft, flakey, and has an butter like hint to it. The magic for me was what was inside this fish shaped master piece. When I got mine it was fresh right from the oven. My first bite was filled with a warm, smokey, creamy goodness. It's so savory and mouth watering. I know the beef and cheese is a popular one (which I tired), but if your a fish lover or even curious, I plead with you to give this one a try!

Amazing, delicious, savory, and everything else that is good can be used to describe this gem on Pike St. Only tried one roll, but it was already enough to get me hooked and salivating every time the name of this haven gets mentioned. Truly an experience for any foodie. Different from anything I've tried. Cannot wait until I fly back to eat here again.

Yes... I would drive from Portland to Seattle to get these... They are THAT good. The line goes fast, so I would suggest you look at their menu and make a note on your phone of what you want, I find it helpful when overwhelmed with lots of options (plus the shop is really small and busy, so you want to be fast) I might get myself some Piroshky's for my birthday, they do online ordering & they ship now! Woot woot!

  • Addie R.

THIS PLACE. But actually though - sometimes I forget about Piroshky Piroshky and then I remember and I'm all "OMGGGG I WANT". Sure it's in Pike Place, and as a local, occasionally a shop's being in Pike Place is a deterrent as I abhor being caught in tourist traps. Pleasantly, this is not a tourist trap whatsoever and there are good eats to be had here. There is always a line but it moves FAST and you better have your decision made quick cause they'll whip out your piroshky as soon as you let them know. They don't have seating so take your piroshky and wander the market or sit by the water somewhere and enjoy it. I like the potato cheddar piroshky but the mushroom one is equally delicious. Getting hungry now, I may have to go back for Monday's lunch!

  • Chunyi P H.

My first choice, smoked salmon piroshky, was out by the time I got there, which was 1pm on a Saturday, so I had no choice but to get the beef/cheese piroshky. Man...it was surprisingly good. I will be back for smoked salmon if I ever come back to Seattle.

  • John C.

please eat here. if is so delicious and they have a happy hour at a certain time. my SO is russian and she thought it was super good. From California, and didn't leave any other places a shout out in Seattle, but this place is too good to pass up. right next to pikes place also. The meat and cheese was the $$ but their cheese roll is also to die for.

  • Krystal N.

This place totally lived up to its hype! The salmon pate piroskhy was sooo delicious. I was whatever about the sweet apple one we tried but I'm not huge on sweets anyways. I wish we could have tried more but we really didn't want to deal with line again. It moves fast but expect to wait about 15-20 min? It is a definite must try if you're in the area! Does anyone know where you can get a comparable piroshky in California?! I've searched but no one has the same amount of variety or the salmon pate. Please let me know if you know!

  • David M.

Wow. Where to begin. This place is simply absolutely fantastic.... I had a beef and onion Peroshky and the next day I had to come back for more. The baked goods are made fresh and the place has a ton of awards from food magazines. If you're at the Pike Place Market, this is a MUST.

We were in line for a LONG TIME and when it was OUR TURN, they said they ran out of the flavor that we wanted. We asked them clearly what time it would be available and the lady (with the glasses/a lil chubby face) SAID that they are already SOLD OUT. Less than 10 people after us, the flavor that we wanted CAME OUT! POOR SERVICE, VERY VERY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Not friendly AT ALL.

  • Angela H.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon and almost walked away because the line was out the door and wrapping around the store...thankfully my friend and I decided to wait it out and we were so happy we did! Get the salmon pate, it's the best warm treat on a chilly Seattle day!!!

  • Randy T.

Simply superb! For something as simple as a stuffed pastry. My trip to Seattle had to begin with a stop to the uber popular joint at Pike Place Market. I waited patiently in line, which moves quite fast as patrons pick from their display case and immediately placed into their individual signature yellow paper baggies. Honestly, I should have done more Yelp research so when it came time to order, I just spit out, "Ummm..... I'll have a Ham, Cheese and Spinach!". I wanted a sweet pastry as well so the staff member kindly recommended the Apple Cinnamon Roll. Done! I grabbed a seat towards the outdoor patio in the back of the building. Diving in, I found my piroshky piping, steaming hot. The pastry was so flaky, buttery, and crisp. It reminded me of a fresh croissant. Or even a tasty pate chaud I used to eat growing up. And the Apple Cinnamon Roll had the perfect amount of sweet and cinnamon. Plus chunks of tart apples in every bite. Based on a tip from Mikey U., I end my trip with another visit to have their Smoked Salmon piroshky. Fortunately, no line on a weekday. Score! The pastry is shaped into a fish and flecked with dill. Once again, fresh and hot and wonderful just like the others. I can see why it's one of the popular ones. Their reputation and positive reviews precede themselves. Just go!

I LOVE little bakeries that sell a wide assortment of meat-filled and savory snacks. I grew up in a household that stocked this kinda thing on a daily basis (it's no wonder we're all fatties... I mean foodies.) But this one was just ok. I pretty much bought at least one of each type they sold and a majority of them were just OK to good. None left me craving more. The breading was a little thick and heavy and the fillings often lacked enough flavor to balance the amount of bread. I will add that hours went by before I tasted most of the things I bought there, so that might have played a role in the deterioration of my experience. I'll be sure to give it another try on my next trip to Seattle and taste everything as soon as I buy them. I should also note everything is surprisingly inexpensive compared to similar things you might find in San Francisco.

Long lines every single time we went (3 times in 3 days), but they moved relatively fast. The salmon pate piroshky was AMAZING and a must-try. I believe we got that every single time. The bread's soft and fluffy, the salmon's flavorful. Loved every bite, and we devoured it in minutes (would have been faster had it not been steaming hot fresh from the oven). Tried the strawberry rhubarb too, which was nicely tart and not cloying sweet. Bread was soft and warm too. The apple cinnamon was a disappointment despite them saying it was one of their bestsellers. It was hard, and tasted as though it had been out for awhile. A tad too sweet for me too. It's a pity that they run out of some flavors so quickly - I wish I'd been able to try the Marionberry Vatrushka.

  • Nathan T.

Alright. This was our first stop when we came to Pike Place. I thought it would take a while because there was an incredibly long line, but they push orders out really quickly to keep the line moving. It only took about 15 minutes to get to order and there were about 35 people ahead of us. We had the following: Beef and Onion Piroshky Smoked Salmon Piroshky Marzipan Roll Cheddar Cheese Roll Potato and Cheese Spinach, Egg, and Cheese Piroshky Marrionberry Vatrushka Bavarian Sausage I was going to pick a favorite, but they are all downright delicious. The workers here are really helpful and friendly. They made the wait worthwhile - well the food did that too, but positive staff made everything better.

Oh, how I love this place. I was visiting a friend in the area and we were at the Pike Place Market and she said she heard the place was good. "Russian bread place" was what she remembered about it so why not? She said bread so I'll always give that a chance. And so I did. Oh man... I did not taste something that I did not love. The cinnamon cardamom braid was amazing! I took one bite and fell in love with this pastry. It was the perfect thing after a soggy afternoon roaming the market (and really any other occasion). The salmon pate was amazing. Fresh and not too fishy which is saying something for salmon. Even something as simple as the potato and cheese piroshky was awesome. Needless to say we visited Piroshky Piroshky all three times that we visited the market on my trip. I still think about it fondly today. The last time I loaded up to bring some home and they kept really well in the fridge. There was always a line and it always moved quickly. The people are extremely friendly and like to chat you up but not to the detriment of the line. Highly suggested and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The food is excellent. The service is friendly. The hours are good for the Seattle business district. But the best part is the proprietor, Alla. She is one of the friendliest people on the planet with a terrific sense of humor. I go there at least once a week, sometimes more.

Yeah, the line is huge, but it's worth it. I love the Salmon Piroshky. Tasty and moist.

  • Kaysee T.

Picked up a beef and cheese piroshky on a whim walking past with some friends and I can't think of a better decision! We ended up fighting over the last bite and could have eaten two or three more each. It really made me think of when I visited London and had some delicious meat pies there. We were attracted by the amazing scent of baked goodness on the street and the final product tastes even better than it smeslls. DEFINITELY stop by if you have a chance, even with all the great food in Pike Place, save room for a snack here.

One of those Seattle institutions that you simply can't deny. Who doesn't like savory pastries filled with various meats, cheeses and potatoes? Yum.

I came here after seeing all the amazing Yelp and friends' reviews, but came away unimpressed. I got a mushroom piroshki and it was just okay. There was a good amount of filling inside and the piroshki was nice and flakey, but the overall taste wasn't anything unique or mouthwatering. Maybe I just didn't pick the "right" piroshki to try on my first visit here... It was busy on an early Saturday morning, but the service moved along quickly and it was friendly. I always love supporting local businesses, but I won't be making a special trip to try this place again.

The salmon pate is my favorite. The onion and beef is a better choice than the beef and cheese.

  • Alyssa M.

My friend had recommended me to this place and I wish I stood in line sooner to try their salmon piroshky. We came later in the day when the line had died down and ordered from what was left which was a chicken and a vegetarian one with spinach ( I can't remember the names). But go here regardless because the bread is just soft and delicious, russian pastries done right at this location!

It was good, but not great. By recommendation I had salmon pate and beef and cheese, both were good. Made for nice take and go to enjoy while sitting harbor front with a cup of coffee.

I eat at the one in the Columbia Tower at least once a week. Quick snacks and easy small lunch on the go. Price is right for lunch crowd, but could be cheaper for the same items around breakfast. :)

No idea where I heard about PP, but it's been one of my bookmarks since May 2011! So when I came to Seattle, it was one of my first stops. And now I know why it was bookmarked: delicious pastries! I wish I could have gotten a ton of them, but I felt that I should limit myself to just one or two. I got three. Smoked salmon pate. Delicious savory yumminess. Chocolate hazlenut cream. It was like it was made with Nutella, only better. Cinnamon Cardamom braid. Because I think I like cardamom and will give it a shot. Back to the hotel. A bit of this, a bite of that, a smidge of the other. All three were AMAZING. Well worth the wait. Big props to Piroshky Piroshky!

  • Natalie E.

We have to stop by anytime we go downtown. The salmon one is fantastic, but they are all so good. They also reheat later easily, I usually buy an extra one to take home.

    (5)
  • Christine S.

Smoked salmon pate FTW! I loved the savory treats over the sweet ones. I decided to take a break from my smoked salmon pate piroshsky, so I had room for dessert, and after one bite of my sweet bread (don't remember what it was), I went back to my savory snack. The sweets were a waste of calories to me, but the nice warm salty buns were worth it, PLUS MORE. Don't let the tiny shop and line intimidate you. It goes fast!

Hands down-- fav eat so far in Seattle!! Tried piroshky a while back when a friend brought some over to the bay-- and it was yummy. Tried it for the first time fresh and wowzers!!! The hubby is really picky with food and he gobbled it up! Order the salmon pate piroshky- u will not be disappointed!

I friggin' LOVE this place. It brings out my inner Russian. When I lived in Seattle this was a Sunday morning ritual before the tourist flooded in. Now, sadly, I'm a tourist. I waited on a long line and put up with a gaggle of cackling teenage girls acting stupid to sink my teeth into a savory beef and onion. I also picked up a smoked salmon - heaven man! Go for the savory over sweet - but the sweet is nice too!

  • Sylvia K.

Piroshkies are like Russian empanadas. Or Russian hot pockets. Or Russian turnovers. Or Russian pasties. Whatever analogy you would like to use, they are delicious. You can tell because there is always a line at this place. I always make a stop here when I'm at Pike Place. The potato and mushroom is one of my favorites. So simple yet so tasty! The potato and cheese one is also really good. The last time I was here, the lady in line next to us said that the mozzarella/mushroom/broccoli was really good, but when it was time to order, they were all out and they couldn't tell us when they would make more. They're constantly making more piroshkies all day, but they never know which ones and when they'll come out - it's always a surprise what they'll still have left. Another cool thing is that you can see them making piroshkies there. It's pretty cool how they're able to stuff so much filling into the pastry dough and make so many at once. They're piroshky pros!

Delicious, cheap, comfort russian street food. I recommend the sausage stuffed piroshky. A good place to stop in real quick whilst exploring Pike Place

Long line early in the morning for this tiny little shop with so many goodies to choose. Feeling rushed, we got the salmon piroshky and the sauerkraut piroshky. There were too many to choose from that we wanted to try. The sauerkraut one was okay, and the salmon was great. The piroshkys were inexpensive. Would've wanted to try more, but didn't want to wait in the line. The people working there were great! Super enthusiastic and helpful with choices.

  • Ramesh B.

Totally love the Salmon piroshki! Its a must have when you go there. Sometimes long queues, but still, if the Salmon is there, its worth the wait!

This place is wonderful! Food was outstanding! Service was great! The line was terrible, but to be expected. This is a really tiny spot in Pike Place Market, they get you in and our quickly and are friendly in the process. Really good prices. The only disappointment was two of the items I was going to order they were out of. You spend all this time looking at the HUGE menu sign while in line and finally make a decision out of the 20 or so options (that all look amazing) just to find out the two you pick are gone. :( I will definitely be back though, the substitutions I selected were mouthwatering as well.

    (4)
  • Erin M.

Addicting, delicious, probably totally counter-intuitive for my workout plan. But I don't care!! Even during the craziest peaks of tourist season, I still wait in line. The smell alone will beckon you in, and it is totally worth it. I don't have a favorite, they are all good! You want sweet? Savory? They have it all. A must try for people that don't get to the market often, and a staple for those of us lucky enough to pass it all the time.

    (5)
  • Lisa P.

OUTSTANDING!!! We almost were too full to make a stop here, ,but thank goodness we did! The food is outstanding, the service impeccable and the place is very clean. We ended up making two trips in two days...fantastic.

Think of the best croissant you have ever had in your whole entire life. Picture it right now. Warm, flaky, soft, buttery, rich.... Then imagine yourself in a drizzly Seattle, slightly chilled to the bone when you and your friend duck into Piroshky Piroshky because you are on a mission to eat the most food humanly possible at Pike's Place Market. A welcoming aroma wafts over you once you step into line. They have a variety of piroshkys (including vegetarian!) and sweet rolls. I really wanted beef & cheese (one of the most popular) but they were sold out. Went with the beef & onion, then decided to buy a sweet one to take back home to SF and have for breakfast the next day. A lot of the sweet rolls have a ton of cream on top. Not my style. Decided to roll with the apple cinnamon roll. These bad boys are pretty big. I'm talking like, bear claw status. That's too much sugar for me in the morning so I had to halve the apple cinnamon roll and eat it for brekkie the next 2 days. Popped it into the toaster oven for a bit and it was just as good. The beef and onion was sooooooo delicious. Upon first bite, I was like "oh man this is like... reminds of the best croissant I ever had" then when I got into the savory filling, it was game over. Beautifully minced meat, seasoned well with that tang of onions.. I didn't care if I had dragon breath. A piroshky from Piroshky Piroshky was the perfect dinner whilst being delayed at SeaTac for 5 1/2 hours with the possibility of my flight getting cancelled. At least I had dinner. No photos (Sorry Hen A!) because I was too busy noshing down on this while losing my shizz during the 4th quarter of the 49er vs NE game.

  • edgard k.

The salmon piroshky is the only thing I think worth buying for and you have to eat it while it's still hot coming out from the oven. The shop is very small and line can be pretty long, but it moves very fast. If you like it has like 4 stools where so you can eat there, but most people are doing to-go.

  • Priyanka M.

Thankyou Jetlag for making me finally go to Piroshky Piroshky!!! I've always seen a huge line outside Piroshky Piroshky in the last 8 years of being in Seattle but never made it inside. My husband and I were the first ones in this past Sunday. We were welcomed with the delicious aroma of cheese, chocolate, and baked goods. We indulged in the beef and cheese along with mushroom, onion and potato piroshkys. Both were best sellers on their list and I can see why!!! Next time, I'll be a little more adventurous and try a few off their best seller menu. For anyone stopping by Pikes Place market, a stop at this place is a must!!! If only it was open before 8am, I would pick it up on my way to work atleast once a week!

  • Shawhin K.

The place is located right in the pike market district. There may be a line but it moves very fast and it gives u a minute or two to figure out what u want which may not be long enough once u actually get inside and see how great they all look. I got the meat and cheese which was amazing. Tasted very fresh and worth every penny.

By far and away one of the most memorable places at Pike's Market. I came here four years ago and when I knew I was returning to Seattle couldn't wait to come here again! Every single homemade pastry will delight you and make you want more! This Russian bakery is truly authentic! Do not be discouraged by the line it is WELL worth the wait! Don't miss this while in town.

  • Marta M.

The big line was definitely worth it! We were waiting for 10 minutes, but they gave us samples while we waited. We ordered the salmon pate and the cheddar one. The salmon was really nice and the piece was huge, we shared it and it was enough! Nevertheless the cheddar one wasn't that good... Just like cheese and garlic bread. We wanted to try the beef and cheese piroshki but they run out of it.

  • Carrie B.

I came here on a Monday morning and the wait was very short. I tried the salmon pate piroshky and the apple cinnamon roll. The salmon pate was really savory, buttery, and flavorful, but not too fishy. I am not a big fish person, but I really enjoyed it. Even better was the apple cinnamon roll, which was soft and chewy, full of Granny Smith apples. The piroshkys were both pretty big -- I shared these two rolls with two friends.

This is a place to visit whenever I come back to Seattle. The smell alone was so attractive you have to check it out. A few doors down from the first Starbucks, I bought a cup of black coffee then strolled in here for a pastry. I went early enough (around 9am) that I didn't have to wait at all, they are quick and friendly. I had the poppy seed cinnamon roll and it was the most delicious pastry I've had in a while. If you're like me, not a huge dessert/sweets person, then this roll is the perfect amount of lightly sweet and moist to go with coffee for breakfast or as a snack. My sister got the potato and cheese piroshky which was a fantastic savory option for the non-dessert lovers. Price was incredibly reasonable, ranges from $3-$6 for their pastries. I know I'll be back here whenever I'm in Seattle again roaming Pike Place!

I don't get it. The marionberry vatrushka tastes like a bagel with sweet cream cheese. And not a good one. The beef and onion was ok but I tasted it the rest of the day. Not worth the wait or the expense.

Very good piroshki, I come from Russia so my family makes really good piroshki, and I can say these are good. Home made is always the best but this is as close you can get to homemade anytime I'm in the area I always stop by here.

  • James B.

Until now, the only Russian product that I have consumed was vodka. I didn't even know what a piroshky was until I got here. All I knew was that my friends highly recommended it without really going into much detail about what it was. I didn't do any research because it would take the fun out of the surprise. I had a pretty good idea about where this place was, because there was a pretty big line out the door. Seeing the line was bittersweet because the line was long, but it was probably long because this place is legit. Luckily, the staff here are very efficient and I was ordering in no time. I ordered the smoked salmon pate piroshky, which was phenomenal! It was freshly baked and there was plenty of smoked salmon in it. This reminded me of a Russian version of mandoo (soft carb on the outside and flavorful, savory filling on the inside) I also recommend the chocolate cream hazelnut roll. This is a must visit for all tourists. I would definitely be a regular if I lived in Seattle.

Ok ok while we were in Seattle, we went in one morning for a snack. So yummy. We ended up going back the two next days. The salmon and beef and cheese were our favs. I only wish we had one of these places in CA

Omg!! This place was so well worth the wait In line. Every bite of this beef and cheese goodness!!! Small mom's and pops owned. You can see the owner prepping each piece of dough.

Can't go wrong with a piroshky. Order one with meat, order one with veggies, be wild and order both plus a sweet treat. No matter what you do, you'll be happy. Strut around pike place with your little puff of happiness and make everyone else hungry.

  • Kevin W.

Piroshky!!! I ordered, - Beef and Onion - $4.55 - The dough was nice and flaky. The filling was seasoned very well. I would order this one again. - Chicken, Mushroom, & Rice - $4.55 - This was good but the beef dough was better. I liked the taste of the filling in the beef one a lot more. Overall, good place to get a quick bite, after you wait in line. Would come again!

The line for this place was long but moved quickly. It smelled incredible. I wasn't particularly thrilled with what I got (some kind of apple roll that was suggested by the server based on my question about what I might be smelling). Super sweet, I was glad I had someone to split it with. I know my friends who are locals enjoy the bakery though.

This place was so yummy, I can't believe I've only just discovered it. Apparently there's another one closer to where my parents live, too, but while visiting them this past weekend, we FINALLY stopped in because I'd seen it listed in so many Seattle To Do lists on Yelp. My boyfriend got a savory piroshky (something with potatoes) and it was AMAZING. So perfectly warm, crispy to bite into, soft on the inside, ughhhh I want one of these near me! Then again, that'd probably be a bad idea...I'd go far too often. When driving by looking for parking, they had a little line outside, but by the time we got in there was nobody waiting. Service was quick. The place was very, very small, so I can imagine on a rainier day if there was a wait it'd be less pleasant, but I'm not sure if that happens. All I can say is it was SO yummy and definitely worth stopping in to try!

Fortunately I was able to indulge in the delicious pastries before I found out I was sensitive to gluten. The sweet and savory pastries are equally delicious and leave your mouth watering for more. Located in the busy pike place market, it is a hole in the wall that serves some of the best pastries in town. The lines are usually long, but it is so worth the wait! My favorites include the:Cheddar cheese and garlic roll, Smoked salmon plate, Poppy seed cinnamon roll, and Apple cinnamon roll. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because they tend to run out fairly quickly of the best pastries by mid day and sometimes serve them cold.

You have to try this when you visit Pike's place. I go there every time I'm at the market and I love the pastries every single time. Don't forget to try the Salmon Piroshky. It's the best one.

Most amazing place ever! It is a must go!

YUM! When you first look at these baked delights, they look kinda plain...actually they don't even look all that appetizing. The husband and I decided to first order 1 to share, because what if we don't like it ... then we're stuck with this huge monstrosity. The husband took a bite first and I saw a glimpse of his eyes widening, but I was still too busy taking photos. When I finally reached for the beef & cheese piroshky for my own bite... it was almost gone. I quickly took my bite before it disappeared before my eyes... YUM! I asked the husband if we should get another one... I really didn't even need to ask.

I finally got Piroshky'd. Twice. It was a Saturday afternoon so the place was pretty packed. I did not mind the wait though because I had a feeling this would be incredible. I was not disappointed. I ordered the Salmon Pate and the Apple Cinnamon. Lunch and dessert! I initially wanted to try the Beef and Onion piroshky, but they had already ran out. The Smoked Salmon Pate is pretty big, but it disappeared in my mouth within a matter of seconds. The seasoning on the outside of the pastry was perfect and complemented the smoked salmon on the inside. The pastry was flaky enough to hold up to the moist filling. The Apple Cinnamon Roll was amazing. It just peeled away and revealed even more apples and cinnamon on the inside. The place itself is very small. The line wrapped around inside of the indoor shopping. I stood in line watching the woman make some fresh Cherry and White Chocolate Piroshky. Mmm it looked tasty! The service was friendly and fast. I just wish they were able to keep up with the demand!

I've lived in Seattle for 10 years. I finally made it to Piroshky. Woohoo! It was a Sunny Sunday late morning! Pike market just started getting busy. When I arrived there, there was already a line. I was glad that they accept credit cards because I spent all my cash buying hot dogs. I picked 2 items and asked the lady (very friendly and patient) who helped me for recommendation. I got Beef & Cheese, Potato & Mushroom, and Chocolate cream. All of them were really good. It took me two days, two meals to finish mine. Even it's overnight, it was still good. I'd come back for more :-)

A must visit if you go to Pike Place market. It's a few steps from the first Starbucks. There's not much I can add since they have been so many reviews of this place. All the good reviews are well deserved. I tried the beef and cheese, smoked salmon pate, and the potato mushroom and onion piroshky. My favourite was the beef and cheese. I came on a weekday morning and no lineups.

The line wasn't bad, just a couple of minutes, service was friendly & fast. There is no where to sit, so be ready to stand up & eat, not a problem for me, but Jillian Michaels (Biggest Loser trainer) advised against it when I sent her my information. She also told me I could lose 20 lbs, not much chance of that happening any time soon, haha. Getting back on-topic, had a beef & cheese piroshki & my veggie mom had a spinach/egg/feta(?) piroshki. A a bonus I also bought a raisin/poppy seed pastry. She was happy with hers, but then said she got indigestion. I had to go back to get mine warmed up, which was nuked!)(boo!), seemed mediocre to me. The crust was nice & flakey on the outside, chewy on the next level, but the beef & cheese was a non-descript mass of goo. However the raisin/poppy seed was fantastic. They were out of the smoked salmon piroshki which I also wanted to try, that might have been better. If I go again, I'll get a sweet pastry & maybe try the smoked salmon(if they aren't out again). Or maybe I'll try somewhere else, there are plenty of choices in the market. P.S. Went to one of the vendors & was sold a raspberry habenero jam. Fantastic! P.S.S. There are great deals on flowers in the market and some of the crafts aren't bad. I'm mostly into the foods though.

The apple cinnamon rocked my socks! Waiting in line wasn't that bad. My only regret was not trying more flavors. PS Be sure to have them heat it up for you. It makes a huge difference especially on a rainy cold Seattle day, which is kinda 90% of the time.

  • Yiling W.

Still delicious! However, as usual: beware your timing of when you go since it's the popular place for a bite from Pikes Place for tourists and natives alike. I've also found a few hours' old piroshky can be pretty tasty retoasted in a toaster oven at home.

Oh, My, Gosh...I can die now. My boyfriend is Russian, and always being a bit skeptical or Russian food :X I tried this place anyways and WOW, was I WRONG. IT IS SO GOOD. Visiting from CA where there is next to no good piroshky, I didn't want to leave Seattle just so I could go to this place again. I've tried other piroshky but people fry it, and it's just NOT the same. I LOVEEEE the potato one, theres nothing even close to how good this is, I would have to say, if I was going to die tomorrow I would want this to be my last meal :]

The smell of this place! Just stand outside of the store underneath the vent and tell me your eyes don't water with anticipation. This was my first visit and I had the cheddar cheese roll and the Marzipan roll. Unbelievable!

  • Sarah B.

As you walk across Pike Place, you will smell this incredible scent. Then you will see tourists huddled around a window watching someone knead dough. And then you will see the line out the door and join in! This place is a gem. They make delicious Russian pastries filled with all sorts of wonderful combinations. You can choose a nice meal like rosemary chicken and rice to a sweet white chocolate and cherry. Anything you choose will be incredible. And they run around $2.50 to $4 each so you can indulge and get dinner and dessert.

  • Franklin D.

Its a pretty good Piroshky. If your coming from someplace with a huge Russian community it might seem overpriced, but you can eat here for under $10 which isn't too bad. I like anything they have with meat and cheese. Mmmm.

  • Angie K.

I personally think this place is a little overrated. The food is OK, but whenever I order something there, it's a little stale and somewhat overpriced.

So yummy! And the service is also great! I was always running late catching the bus, and the lady at the counter was always quick warming up (and at times they have freshly baked) piroshkies.

  • Jeanette Y.

Salmon pâté piroshky is AMAZING! From the outside, it doesn't look like much. Another bakery? Yeah, possibly. BUT, why are there so many people standing in line waiting for these so called piroshkies? What in the world is a piroshky? It's a stuffed bun of goodness! Salmon pâté piroshky? Completely amazing! Beef & cheese piroshky? Awesome! Cinnamon cardamon braid? A-okay. I think I will have to make another run here before I leave Seattle! Oh how I've fallen for your amazing piroshkies!

    (5)
  • Wolf L.

Oh, my God, this place is awesome! So many different kinds of delicious sweet and savory baked goodies, it blew my mind. This Russian bakery is now on my shortlist of absolute MUSTS in Seattle. Honestly, I'll stop at this place every single time I'm in town from now on. Fantastic!

    (5)
  • Brittany K.

Finally! After coming to Washington for the third time, I have visted the famous Piroshky Piroshky. The smells are amazing and the pastries are are fresh. I had both the Marzipan roll & the Beef and Onion Piroshky. Mouth watering deliciousness! I'm going to miss this place when I go back home.

Man I love this place. Every time I am at pikes place market I have to stop and get something from here. It is my addiction. I will become your addiction just by standing outside of the bakery. Man it smells so good and it taste even better. I highly recommend getting something from here if you are in town visiting.

  • Rishona G.

I love this place at the heart of the market. There are so many choices including the smoked salmon or potato and mushroom and so many others but really my favorite thing to get here is one of their desserts, either the cardamom cinnamon roll or marzipan roll. Everything is delicious and the dough is always buttery flaky and perfectly baked.

    (5)
  • Anand P.

I love this place but last two times I have fallen sick after eating here. And they never have what you want. I stand in line at least 3 times before getting what I want. There is no proper queue system. If you don't get what you want then you go back to the back of the line. And they have different prices online. All I can say is that they don't know how to run a business.

Yeah, I'm joining the club on this one, this place is amazing. It's tiny, crowed and we waited in a line but it was worth it, every second! We got a cream cheese marrionberry vatrushka, rhubarb roll and a Moscow roll and GOOD GOD THEY WERE AMAZING!!! We will be back for more tomorrow and I will ask them of they plan on opening a location in Austin. We NEED something like this there!

  • Tiffany L.

This place is a must stop when I'm in the Pike Street area.... I love their apple cinnamon rolls and their cinnamon cardamom braids (I order their special wreath shaped cardamom braids for the family at Christmas). The line is quick and efficient and I swear the pastries taste as good if not better the next day. I love these pastries BUT you have to love cinnamon and cardamom to enjoy them because the flavor is strong!

  • Sam H.

Love this place. It always smells amazing! I come for the smells, most of all! Expect a line when you arrive, but it always moves nice and quick because they have so many people working taking orders. If this place was close to me, I would be in trouble because I would be eating these all the time. My go to item is usually the potato onion piroshky. They are fab when they have come out of the oven recently and are nice and soft. So many sweets to choose from as well. yum yum!

  • Pauline O.

I had suggestions to check out Piroshky Piroshky & my stomach love love loved those who recommended it to me! I've only tried piroshki twice, once in a place in SF and once here. I can say that I like Piroshky Piroshky way better, since it was a bit softer and not as flakey. I had the Smoked Salmon Pate, while my bf had the Beef & Cheese one. I liked the Salmon one better! We came here again to grab some before we headed home & left with: potato & mushroom, sauerkraut cabbage & onion, more beef & cheese, & more salmon. All good! There was no line the first time we went there, a Thursday morning, but on Saturday afternoon the line was wrapping around their little store. The line went really fast though, so that's not a big deal. Go here! My picks would have to be potato/mushroom & the salmon!

  • Olivia S.

Fast and friendly service. The cinnamon cardamon braid was delish! Soft baked bread with the aroma and taste of cinnamon with every bite. Perfect balance of chewy and softness. Their pastries are perfect to share while exploring Pike Place. And not to mention the decent cost of each baked good! You gotta stop here if you're going to be at Pike Place!

  • Tuan V.

Too hyped, like the world's first starbucks. I just don't think waiting in the long line is justified. I have some friends who are Seattle locals who can still stand the long lines and go to Pikes Place strictly to get Piroshky Piroshky. For me, it's not worth the time and effort. If I happen in the area, and there is no line, though, I might grab this. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area that I would prioritize over this in an instant. I guess it's a place you gotta try when you first move to Seattle or visit Seattle. You'll feel guilty if you didn't. After you visit, you can make your own judgments.

  • Annie S.

If you are a fan of pastries, this is the place for you. There are plenty of savory and sweet options. But for me, because I have a massive sweet tooth, it was only fitting that I orderd a sweet prioshky. And so, I ordered a Marrionberry Vatrushka. It was very sweet with a bit too much cream cheese frosting. I wasn't even able to finish half! I heard their salmon prioshky was a fan favorite so I'll definitely give that one a try next time.

Really really disappointed. It's located across from the main Pike's Place Market just down the from the original Starbucks location. The first few times walking by we saw a long line for their pastries. The day before leaving Seattle, we wanted to give it a try. Yes, they looked very very good. We opted for the Cinnamon Cardamon Braid. It looked like a cinnamon roll type pastry with some walnuts on top. Well, first off, I'm not very familiar with Russian pastries. the dough was more like a dense pretzel dough instead of an airy pastry that I had expected. It was actually tough to pull apart and eat. Unexpectedly it had an orange flavor. A very strong orange flavor which over powered the cinnamon. So I was really not a fan of this. I will say their service here was good. They moved the line along fairly quickly and were very pleasant to deal with. But would I go back? Probably not.

Oh oh oh a Russian bakery !! This is a beloved treasure in Pike Place Market. It's easy to spot as there's usually a long eager line in front of its tiny storefront. It's always busy, and the stuffed buns are always made fresh. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices. They also have a small storefront at the Crossroads Mall in Bellevue on 156th St for the east-siders who don't want to make the long trek downtown.

  • Allister D.

What an establishment. So original. The family-ran business does a great job maintaining the tradition in making the pastries. The pastries are served fresh and hot. They even make the pastries in front of the people at this side window just for proof. I ordered the Apple Cinnamon Roll which is the most popular treat. The dough was soft and had a lightly salted bite to it. Nothing was wrong here. The apple filling was rich and sweet; it tasted like the holidays and smelled like it too! Everything about this roll was fantastic! Oh and the top layers tasted like honey-brushed up! Make sure to stop in early before the line builds. Too many tourists will try to fit in so fight though it.

Everything we tried was good, but the Beef and Cheese was definitely the best.

  • Gatz B.

There's a reason there's almost always a line here, and it isn't just because the "first" Starbucks is a few doors down. The piroshky you find here? Amazing. Especially the sweet ones. You should probably snag a cup of borscht too. Piroshky on Third does seem to do a bit better with savory ones, seemingly because of a more sour-tanged dough, but you're not going to be able to walk over to the park and watch worlds of crack and tourism combine. And that alone is priceless.

  • Shikha C.

It was worth a wait in a long que to get some piroshki:). As soon as you enter this little heaven you can smell some amazing fresh baked aromas. Baking keeps happening all day round. I had apple cinnamon roll and Rhubarb roll. Apple cinnamon roll(best seller) was alright. Was chewy and dry:(. Rhubarb Roll was awesome. Had dense filling, was warm and soft. I will go again to try their savory piroshki's and seasonal sweet rolls.

First time at a Russian bakery and it def. did not disappoint! My favorite thing there is the smoked salmon pate piroshky. makes me salivate just thinking about it... The salmon filling was so tasty and the bread was fluffy and soft. it's the best when it's still warm. The pastries are pretty big I always share it with someone else The line can get quite long sometimes but it actually moves fairly fast so don't get discouraged by the line! IT'S WORTH THE WAIT

My first time trying a Russian pastry... It was amazing. I had the potato and cheese piroshky. I love it. I wish I could have one every single day. My mom got the cinnamon roll-looking thing w/ the apple on the bottom. That was amazing too! Love this hole in the wall.

The line moves quickly so don't be scared to go in. I prefer the breadier type of piroshky but you can't go wrong with anything there. Yum and go early!

Yes this place seems like a touristy destination but omg its so worth the wait. Because the line is so long my husband and I usually order like 20 things to hold us over till the next time. There are so many great items on the menu I can't just pick one... try them all for yourself... but you should put something sweet in the number one spot first.

I have been here countless times, maybe it was the winter cold but the line moved mush quicker the other day. The original Starbuck is just a couple shops down and I ofter compare the lines; they sometimes will spill out into the street. There are so many different choices to make when you get to the front of the line; in my experience you can't go wrong with the Beef and Cheese or Ham and Cheese for a savory option. I have a huge sweet tooth and I alway get the Apple Cinnamon Roll, its not overly sweet and has huge apple slices. Writing this review made me crave for one.......Im going to get one NOW

  • roxann w.

Went here twice during my 4 day trip to Seattle. Day one I split the beef and cheese with my husband. So freaking good... day 2 went back for the sweet versions. We had the apple cinnamon roll and the hazelnut chocolate. Those two were not as good. The line moves quick, it was worth the wait if you have the time, if you are with someone split it and try some other tasty treats elsewhere.

    (4)
  • Angela P.

Hot, greasy, doughy, cheesy, meaty, savory and filling. That's a piroshky. The line appeared long on a weekday morning, but the line moved quickly, and they were constantly rolling out and baking more piroshky, to ensure they wouldn't run out. We shared two piroshky, a ham & cheese and a cheddar garlic. Both were exactly as I described above. Breakfast, brunch, lunch, a piroshky fits all three categories. Buy a few and share, they're all generously portioned so you will really be able to enjoy this. There is so much food to try at Pike Place, so we didn't try any of the sweet varieties.

    (5)
  • Tiffany K.

The pastries here are huge and delicious, and average around $4-6. The line looks long but moves pretty quickly! I got the beef and cheese which was really good!

Piroshky Piroshky is the first thing on my list every time I visit Seattle. In this 4 day trip alone, I got piroshkies 3 of those days. There's something so comforting about them that I can't resist coming back. My favorites are the beef & onion and basically anything with potatoes... The line can get long at times, but it moves quickly and it's so worth it!

  • Johnny H.

There was a line for this place each time we walked by. We decided to wait in the line to see what the hype was all about. We ordered the sweet flavors. Cherry cheese and apple. They were very good but I'm not too sure it is worth the wait if the line is really long. If it's short... Hop in line and try one.

this place is ok. i don't see what the fuss is about. i had both the salmon and the first beef one. it wasn't bad nor was it hella good.

  • T. H.

This seems like a Pike Place tourist trap, but it's actually pretty darn good. The line was already a little long at 11:45am, but it moved quickly - the piroshkys are pre-prepared, so it's very quick to get what you want. The staff can be a bit gruff - especially the person handling the menus - but given the system they have in place (you have to order, get your food, and then return your menu to the person standing outside on your way out), I'm not totally surprised. Especially when you're dealing with a lot of clueless tourists (like me!)... Anyway, for about $20, I got the beef and cheese; the chicken, mushroom, and rice (on their recommendation - they said it's better than the famous salmon pate option); the apple cinnamon; and the cinnamon cardamom. I really enjoyed the beef and cheese. If you like meat pies of any kind, you'll like this. It's only a tiny bit cheesy - I was worried it might be some nacho extravaganza, but it wasn't. Phew. The chicken option was a little meh - I didn't even come close to finishing it. It just tasted like generic savory food. I couldn't really identify any individual ingredients. The apple cinnamon was awesome, although I mostly just picked out all of the plump, tasty apple pieces. I ended up eating almost the entire cinnamon cardamom piroshky, but mostly because it was less messy and I was eating while working. I'm giving this four stars and I enjoyed my food, but I also don't think this would be somewhere I'd need to go back to ever again. It's worth a one-time experience though - check it off the Seattle culinary bucket list!

  • Angel S.

I went back today and tried the Beef and Onion! It was fresh, hot, and flavorful! Exactly what I was looking for the first time I went! I had to be careful not to eat it too quickly. I'm happy I gave this place a second chance.

This place was one of the best places for our early breakfast piroshky. .... we tried a couple of them and we were not dissapointed. The waiting time was worth for us... and we had the delightful experience to taste these delicious piroshkies.

  • John W.

This place is heaven. The food, no matter what it is, is delicious. The sweet and the savory are equally delicious. You can tell, these people actually put work into the product they give to the masses. Speaking of masses, the line for this place was massive. It was out the door as it should be. The place is good. During this visit, I nearly put in $20, but it was a delicious $20 spent. Both of the savory and the sweets I ordered were on point. I recommend this place to every person who travels through Pike's Place Market.

  • Wen L.

Piroshky! Delicious! They look so shiney and tasty through the glass case and they actually taste as great as they look. This place is right across Pikes Place and is incredible. Definitely a place you have to go if you are in the area. These russian pastries are to die for!

  • Amy H.

Bloop. This place so overhyped and I dont know why. We got there around 10 and I was expecting like SF line status where it goes on for days. It was actually not that bad and took max 15 minutes. However, we came back another time and the line went on for days so we won haha. They ran out of the apple cinnamon and I actually got this during another trip and that was not that hawt. The smoked salmon pate was good for a savory pasty but the insides were too pasty and I wish there were actual thick pieces of salmon up in there. Bavarian sausage tasted like a typical hot dog so whatevs. The other popular one is beef and cheese and it straight up reminded me of a Chinese pastry. I thought, humph, I didnt come to Seattle to eat my Chinese bread. I wouldnt crave these pastries again but once again, the yelper inside of me had to try them and get all the poppin flavors.

    (3)
  • Nick P.

Really good piroshky. There's always a line. In a touristy area but not a tourist trap. You have to try the Salmon Paté, it's delicious and in the shape of a salmon. No seating, just get your piroshky and enjoy it by the market somewhere. They also accept credit cards.

Best pastries in Seattle. Lines are long but are worth the wait. Love family owned businesses, food just taste better.

  • Nikita K.

I was a little taken back at first when I found out a Piroshki place was the most popular spot at Pike's Place. I personally grew up eating my mom's and grandma's piroshkis, so I had high expectations for this place. We got in the line, which looped around the entire building, but moved very fast because it doesn't take long to grab a piroshki and go (~15 minutes). When I got to the front and smelled the warm dough, I decided I would have to get two. I got the salmon one, which I have never heard of for a piroshki, but a very creative idea, mostly how they shape the dough into a salmon. It was absolutely delicious, and very big (3x size of normal home piroshki), the salmon in Seattle is unbelievable. I also got the beef and cheese (usually beef and onion), which I did not really feel the cheese in, but they used good beef. So overall, I was very impressed with this piroshki place, I wish we had one in San Francisco (or is this an opportunity for me to open my own???)

A great bakery that Sarah Palin can probably see from her house. After Tetris and Anna Kournikova, this is the best import from mother Russia. The meat pastries are nice and flavorful and packed with meat. The cheese and onion are also well balanced. The crust is a bit flaky for me, but the insides make it worthwhile. Get in early to avoid the lines.

One of my favorite places at the Market, I highly recommend. The line out he door is a testament to the food, and it is certainly worth the wait.

  • Rosie C.

My coworker recommended me to come here. I've never even heard of this place, yet alone heard of what prioshkys are, but after seeing soooo many reviews on Yelp, it was clear that I had to stop by and try. The location is great and easy to find; it's right next to the original Starbucks and the Pikes Market area (perfect for a tourist like myself). I was also fortunate to go at a time when there was no line ... just 5 ppl ahead of me (I was able to order in no time flat!) I must've gotten there towards the end of their day because a lot of the items were out, so I ended up trying their smoked salmon prioshky. the bread was a bit drier, but the salmon filling was pretty good. All in all, it was a-okay.

    (3)
  • Holly M.

This is always a great go-to for a quick lunch or snack - as lines that often go down the block will attest!

    (5)
  • Jessica S.

They have a unique offering compared to other bakeries, but it was definitely not worth waiting in line. I had the poppyseed cinnamon roll, which was nice, and not overly sweet, but seemed a little dry. The boyfriend had the salmon pate piroshky, and was disappointed by the amount of filling. I think we could have been at least as satisfied by going to one of the less-frequented (and hyped) bakeries in the area.

    (3)
  • Funglin W.

Overhyped, perhaps? I've had 3 piroshky -- beef & cheese, smoked salmon, and garlic and cheese. The beef and cheese is their "popular" one and it was delicious, but not worth the wait. I wasn't that impressed with the flavors considering how famous this place is and how long the line gets. Then the smoked salmon was good....but not that memorable? I also recently had the garlic and cheese and thought that was the best, but i also don't know if i'll be back for it. Either way, I'm not quite sure if i'd recommend Piroshky as a must go for my tourist friends that are coming. it's a store that I would fit into people's itinerary if there was empty time slots, but otherwise there are other small shops i'd recommend first. PS -- the line does go by extremely fast though!

I was looking forward to going here the most. Was so disappointed that it was closed the first time. When it finally was opened I ordered the potato cheese, beef and cheese, and garlic and cheese. My personal favorite was the beef and cheese. The bread was flavored well with a light flakiness and soft in texture. The beef was cooked well, while blended with the gooey cheese. The potato cheese was good too, I didn't care for the garlic cheese. I would definitely revisit this place. I do love meat pies, this Russian baked good is definitely softer then what I'm used to. In Vietnam we have what's called a pate chaud where there is more flakiness (just like the Australian meat pies).

I like big buns and I cannot lie! Piroshky Piroshky delivers big buns...and big lines. It's one of the most popular spots in the Public Market. However, I'm not too sure what all of the fuss is about. My boyfriend and I waited in line for 30 minutes. We ordered a sweet and savory piroshky. He had the smoked salmon pate (their most popular meat creation) and I had the apple cinnamon roll (their most popular pastry). My boyfriend enjoyed the salmon pate but he wasn't super impressed by it. Seeing that we waited in line for 30 minutes, it better knock our socks off! I don't like cheese so I can't really give this piroshky a fair assessment. My apple cinnamon roll, on the other hand, I can totally review. It was HUGE, with rich cinnamon-y swirls. There are real slices of apples (skin included) in this bun. I liked it but I found the apples to be too tart. The tartness counterbalances the cinnamon sweetness, but I would have preferred the apples to be more ripe. The lemon honey glaze was a nice touch as it created another layer of flavor. The roll was warm and fluffy, very soft. However, with the long wait and hype about this place, I guess I expected a lot more.

Deliciouso. What is the smell coming from that long line? Yum yum. Get the Salmon ... Bread thing. Warm and toasty, perfect for Seattle weather. Line moves at an ok pace.

I had a blueberry cream pastry and even though I wasn't particularly hungry after sharing a spinach, egg and cheese piroshky with my sister, it was too good to stop eating. I have to be honest, I wouldn't have known what a piroshky was, if not for Red from Orange is the New Black. (Thank you Netflix)

My brother wanted me to try their beef & cheese piroshky, so we waited in the line that wrapped around the back of the store. When we got to the front, the dude informed us "we're out of beef & cheese." My bro asked, "when will you have more?" The dude said, "I don't know... we're making more but I don't know how long it'll take." Hmm... I'm pretty sure you can ask someone who's less stupid than you, and give us a ballpark with a window of 15 minutes. Say... 30-45? 1:00-1:15? No? Too difficult? Whatever. We ordered the salmon (which was yummy) and the onion/mushroom (meh, good enough). Too bad we waited in line for NOT the main event. If I come back in the area, I'll definitely try it again.

Super Long line! A touristy attraction. It's located next to the fort ever opened Starbucks. We got a bunch of piroskhys but bummed cause we didn't get to try their most famous beef and cheese and salmon pate. We got the beef and onion and that was extremely good. Can't imagine how much yummier the beef and cheese would be... Great Seattle experience.

Best Piroshky's you can find in Seattle unless you know any babooshka's out there that will cook for me and I promise to do any housework they ask in return!

  • Michael B.

I have to say the food was good. We got several things. I usually don't wait in long lines but we did. The wait was not as long as I thought, they are fast. I was a little disappointed I was expecting more stuffing in them. The smell of their food is better than the taste. I only saw six bar stools along the wall and we were very lucky to get two.

  • Michael M.

I dare anyone to walk by the store, smell what's baking, and not feel obligated to stand in a long line just to give it a taste! Whether you want something sweet, meaty, or of the vegetarian-type, they've got something for everyone. My wife and I tried the poppy seed cinnamon roll and a potato and cheese piroshky. I'd recommend either of those choices, but I'd blindly recommend anything else on the menu. So good!

  • Lupolo K.

Yeah, real Piroshky's in Seattle. Very similar to the Russian bakeries in Los Angeles. But, now they are getting very popular with the tourist, so you will get some long lines there now.

  • Stefanie S.

Underwhelmed. Not worth waiting in line for IMO but everyone visiting Seattle should come at least once just so you can tell your friends you've tried it.

Amazing food and well worth the long line as it moves pretty fast and is also a great corner for people watching. This Russian bakery was so incredibly delicious!! My dad comes here a lot and it was such a nice treat to enjoy with him! I ordered the Vegetarian Piroshky (onions, potatoes, and cheese) and it was so fresh and you could taste how freshly baked everything was! My dad always gets the traditional beef and I tried a few bites and it was just as delicious and the meat was so tender! Fantastic place at Pike's Place Market that can't be missed!!

i got a smoked salmon piroshky.. and it was awesome.. if it weren't for the limited amount of real estate in my abdomen... i would have got a box of the many different varieties of pastries

I'm gonna go against the masses and give my honest opinion. I was recommended by every living soul to check out Piroshkyx2 when I informed them about my vacay to Seattle. Had high hopes but didn't exactly live up to it. If you are into this kinda thing...wait til you feast on an English Pasty sold in the UK. That is by far my fave rendition of any bread/meat combination snack. With that being said, I couldn't bring myself to become a fan of Piroshkyx2. If you must, I would suggest the Salmon Pate one over the mushroom one which was not that great.

For those from the San Francisco Bay Area, Piroshky Piroshky is akin to our Golden Gate Bakery (spoiler alert: it's not as life changing). This is a must-try for those who have not tried these delicious Russian pastries. Averaging at about $5 a piece, each savory piroshky can serve as a great kick off for a long day of food adventuring, while the sweet piroshkies can cap off an already great meal at Pike Place Market. The beef and cheese was wonderful, but at the end it kept me wanting more. Here, the beef and cheese outshine and overshadow the dough when they should have been working in tandem. A great piece of food, but it made me compare it to other beef and cheese items, rather than other pastries. Know what I mean?? I thought the sweet piroshkies were less memorable, but they're worth sharing between several sweet-tooths.

You know, if Piroshky Piroshky wanted to be a chain, I would be OK with that if that meant we got to have them in the southeast. On our recent trip to Seattle, we had to go to PP two days in a row. Even though the line was wrapped around the building, it moved fast. I had the salmon pate and shared an apple cinnamon roll. It was DELICIOUS. OMG. I also had to get a Piroshky Piroshky shirt because the little cartoon on it was too cute. Basically, DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE LINE. Lots of people didn't get in line because they thought they would have to wait a long time for food. Honestly, it moves quick and the food is worth the wait.

    (5)
  • Peter K.

Is it because I didn't grow up with Piroshkies? I find them ok. I have nothing to compare Piro Piro to. If I compare it to a savory feta spinach croissant from other top bakeries... then its a solid 3. Great if you need a snack in the area but nothing I would trek to Pike's Place to get.

  • Michelle Y.

Loved this Russian bakery!!! First time stopping at this place and I loved the variety of pastries! Smoked Salmon Pate Piroshky- hands down the most flavorful item! Originally my boyfriend ordered it but I ate most of it. If you love lox and bagel, this will hit the spot ! Beef & Onion- so-so I was expecting chunks of beef. There is a spice that over power the taste of this Piroshky. I wish I had gotten a sweet pastry instead of the Beef & Onion.

  • Nicole B.

So good! Worth the wait in line if you're down at Pike's Place.

  • David Y.

Wasn't sure what to expect from a Russian bakery in the middle of Pike's Place but the lines around the door and down the way should have been my first clue. Because of the frenetic pace, many of the items I wanted to try were out and in the process of being bakes. As a result, I went with my third choice. Nonetheless, I was not disappointed from this hole in the wall establishment. They have also have dessert type pastries which I look forward to trying out next time.

  • Art C.

I would say hit or miss. There were a few items that were really, really good like the beef and cheddar and the rhubarb. And then there were a few that were either weird (ham and cheese), disappointing (beef and onion), or just plain bad (apple cinnamon roll). Overall we'd go back here- just gotta know what to get.

Was looking for Agave's taqueria before I was caught by the aroma. It's a really delicious smell (if that's even possible) that really reflects their food. They sell bread here which range mostly around $5 per item. It's worth every penny. The line can look a bit long but it goes by very quickly. Hint: Like all the other reviewers here, the Salmon is delicious, as is the beef and cheese.

When ever I visit Seattle this is the only place I make a point to visit. I haven't had a piroshky I didn't like. My favorite was a cream of wheat piroshky, it was crazy good. If I lived in Seattle I would eat there daily. The line is usually long but it moves quickly, the food is hot and tastes fresh. Try it, you won't be sorry.

been here too many times to count. One of my favorite places in the market. Anyone in Seattle has to try this place. The smell itself outside is amazing. And once you get your piroshky you will not be let down. It is amazing delicious and not over rated in the least bit. Both the sweet and savory ones are good. And I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any flavor you choose.

  • Maile K.

Despite the intimidatingly long line, I must say it was well worth the 20 min wait. I ordered the Beef & Cheese, Potato & Mushroom, Beef & Onion, and the Fresh Rhubarb to share with the fam. So much better than the Pirosky I get at home, which is deep fried and super greasy and tasted like fish. These Piroshky are baked handheld pies of yummy goodness! You can even watch them being made while you wait in line. Just the best street food in the world....next to...DONUTS!

  • Angel N.

I stopped by this bakery when I was visiting Seattle last week. I wish I had a bigger appetite that day so I could've tried more than one item! I had the smoked salmon pate piroshki and it was amazing! I also just found out that this bakery ships their baked goods lol I think I might have to make an online order soon! This russian bakery is a must-try when you are in Seattle! The lines are always long but it moves by pretty quickly! Come early because my friends went later in the day and found out that they ran out of certain items on their menu!

  • Veronika R.

Wow! Piroshki! I'm a fan. Just as other reviews said, you WILL wait in line, but never fear, it keeps moving and is worth the wait. Those delicious pastries keep flying off the shelves as soon as they come out of the oven, so you know your purchase will be fresh & HOT. You even get to watch them make them as you wait in line (good photo op). We were visiting Seattle for the day, so grabbed a Piroshki to make the line to get into the First Starbucks (which is right next door) more bearable.... Piroshki's line moves MUCH faster!

    (5)
  • Jason M.

Didn't get a chance to have a Piroshki. Stood in line for 25 mins for a beef and cheese. Got to the counter and the lady said they sold out a while ago. I asked why isn't there a sign or someone telling people they are sold out. I didn't want anything else but that. She just replied back "sorry sir". So if that's their way of making customers stand in line thinking that they will be forced to buy something else I'm sorry to hear that. Will probably not go back and just for that reason.

  • Chie T.

This place is a must. Although there was a pretty long line that continued on around the corner of the building, the wait was totally worth it. We were too focused on trying other types of food in the area as well so we only ordered 3 things amongst the 3 of us but I enjoyed all of them :) Beef and cheese, Smoked salmon, and Poppy seed cinnamon roll. So good. I'd recommend ordering the savory ones over the sweet ones just because those seemed more unique and delicious. The cinnamon roll wasn't exceptionally different or anything. I also liked the fact that they had different new articles and stuff posted around the wall. It gave the place a more original feel to it after reading about its history and whatnot while waiting in line. If you're in the area definitely check it out!

Came here because I watched orange is the new black and "red" spoke of piroshkys. The line was really long and the food looked amazing! However we bought the apple cinnamon roll and it wasn't amazing. Definitely had better hopes for this place Pros: it's Russian and unique! Cons: long lines, for what? Tip: if lines are short try it out. However if it's too long.. I say give it a pass

    (2)
  • Samantha R.

The line was fairly long, so that told me that it was good. Once I got near the bakery, the smell just made my mouth water!! It smells so good there and I honestly didn't know what to get because everything looked so good!! I eventually decided on a Beef and Cheese with a Rhubarb Roll. I loved the Beef and Cheese, but the Rhubarb was not my favorite. It was still good, but was definitely overshadowed by the Beef and Cheese. Definitely coming back here whenever I come to Seattle!!

  • Julia S.

I am not the most patient person, however I happily stood in line two out of my three mornings in Seattle to try as many of these heavenly concoctions as possible. It is worth waiting in line. Delicious. I went all savory (don't have much of a sweet tooth) and even though it's untraditional I was a big fan of the salmon - come on, you're in the northwest, you have to go for the salmon. Worth it. So worth it.

  • Rawdnayyy D.

This place is great! Tried the oscar star and oh man, it was delicious. The line does get really long and busy but it's worth the wait. If your on vacation, don't forget to bring these back home. You won't regret it!!!

This is a small bakery that always have a long line, but it goes by pretty fast. I decided to try a sweet pastry because I heard the the sweet ones taste better than the savory ones. After browsing through the selections, I chose the chocolate, hazelnut cream. Some thoughts that I had prior to eating this was my concern that the cream was going to be too chocolatey sweet (I'm not a fan of chocolate cream) or that the bread might be too buttery since it was really yellow. Once I took a bit without much expectations, I was proved wrong. The sweetness of the cream was just right and the bread was also not too buttery; just the way I like it. I really enjoyed eating this and looking forward to trying different pastries the next time I visit!

Came across this place by accident. Saw a long line, looked it up on Yelp, and decided to give it a try. Yes, believe the hype! The pastries are superb. Very tasty. Worth the wait!

  • j s.

I ordered the hazel cream pastry. Hands down tasted amazing and so fresh! It was a bit pricey $4.50 but well worth it. I would definitely go here again. Best to avoid going there on the weekends. I got lucky on a Wednesday and behold only 6-7 people in line. The line on the weekends is horrible, expect 45 min wait.

Salmon Piroshky - imagine a bagel but less chewy/doughy, and instead of having to spread lox on it yourself, its embedded into the pastry as a filling, and that the pastry is shaped like a fish. This is the salmon piroshky... but with a more pretzely bun. The filling tasted like a good lox fill; cream cheesey, smooth, oniony, and not overly smoked salmon. Marzapan Piroshky - they ran out of the moscow piroshky, so we defaulted to this. A flaky crust, more like a turnover, and not too buttery like a croissant. You would think it would be dry, but this also had a ton of filling. This seriously had a smooth filling, which is kinda crazy since its made of sugar and almonds, which normally can get kinda gritty. This was smooth, and just perfectly sweet with that nice cherry sort of flavor that ground almond gets. The best thing about this place is that they are generous with their fillings. Most bakeries can sorta shaft you and give you mostly bread, and a bit of the good stuff, but Piroshky Piroshky gives you a TON of filling. I wish I also got the beef and onion that i normally would get here, but everything was just awesome as usual.

  • James M.

If I am in the area and need a quick and inexpensive bite this is one of my top choices. The items on offer range from good to very good. Price is a little high but given the tourist appeal of the place understandable. Be prepared to stand in a line.

    (4)
  • Mina B.

This place makes consistently good food - and they have for years and years. The apple cinnamon roll is the perfect amount of tart and sweet. They are good with the savory fillings. I wait until fall or Christmas to go the market, so the warmth of these are welcome. Staff is always lovely.

  • Moises M.

I heard Anthony Bourdain swung by and proclaimed that these Piroshky's where one of his favorite things he's every tried. Now, knowing I resided only a short walk away from this place I figured WHY FREAKING NOT?!?! The lines always out the door, and if you manage to come late in the day, you'll pretty much have slim pickings. I was lucky enough that they still had one more Beef & Onion. Twas a wonderful marriage of savory spicy beef and sweet flake crust. A tad messy to eat but I don't even care, Bourdain had it right, It's my ideal breakfast item, and I would definitely come back for a couple more.

  • Ryan N.

When I came here 4-5 years ago, I had the best piroshky of my life. Sad to say my recent visit here was an absolute bust! I bought a savory one and sweet one. They were both flavorless. I threw it in the garbage as I headed to La Panier...what happened to the flaky crusts?!? Taste more like bad cafeteria food from elementary school...

    (1)
  • Curtis C.

Good! Very good bakery, many selections, and tasty creations! Worth 5/5 stars and the title as Seattle's Best? Plain and simple, no. There was honestly nothing special and unique about this place, and I think I'm pretty easy to please. I have Grace L.'s back on this one.

The absolute must-see hole in the wall in Pike Place Market in Downtown Seattle!

  • Evan D.

This is one of those places you HAVE to try if you come to Pike Place Market. You CAN'T NOT TRY IT. Especially the Beef and Cheddar. The dessert ones are good, but I think the savory ones are out of this world phenomenal. And hey, it's right next to the first starbucks ever! Though the line for that is always really long. So go to Piroshky Piroshky instead! Or while you make someone wait in line for Starbucks :)

    (4)
  • J. N.

Very hearty appetizer/dessert? However, you want to see it, it's worth the wait (line moves fairly quick). I tried the Cinnamon Apple Bun and I love all the fresh apple slices carefully placed all over the top.

With a Russian/Ukrainian boyfriend, I was really excited to hear a place like this exists. When I found out we were going to Seattle, I thought this would be a perfect place for us to try. Located in the heart of Pikes Market, Piroshky Piroshky definitely lives up to all its hype. Right off the plane and after hotel check in, this was our first destination in Seattle. I was super excited to take boy BF here. We got here around 2 PM and there was a line going out the door. The line moved fairly quickly, so we got our food with in 20 mins, not bad, considering I waited 2 hours for a place in Portland a couple days prior to being here. They offer many different types of piroshky and various different pastries. We ended up getting the salmon pate piroshky, potato and cheese piroshky, and Vatrushka with blueberries and cream. I loved my salmon pate. The salmon pate in the middle of the fish shaped piroshky (super cute btw) was heaven. I never tasted anything like it but it was amazing! I've had piroshkies before but these are cooked perfectly and are not super greasy. My boyfriend loved his potato and cheese and said its pretty good compared to the ones back in his motherland, maybe even better. The vatrushka we had was good. My boyfriend loved it but I thought it tasted like a piroshky with sweet stuff on top. Although, I do have to admit that the blueberries they put on top were extra sweet. Great find in Pikes Market! Totally worth the wait!

  • Stella M.

You know that this place must be good when there's a long line and has over 1,000 reviews on Yelp. Everything is baked fresh there-you even see the bakers making them as you wait in line. All of the pastries that we ordered were hot and fresh. My friend and I ordered 6 pastries: -Smoked Salmon Pate - There's a reason why this is one of their bestsellers. A must try. -Beef and Cheese - Another one of their bestsellers. Equally awesome. -Chicken, Mushroom, and Rice - We didn't eat this until a few hours later since we were full from eating the first two. While it was a little cold, it was still delicious. -Bavarian Sausage - Good, but nothing too special. The two sweets: (Disclaimer: These were good, but I like savory foods over sweets so I can't really speak on these. I think my friend liked them though). -Moscow Roll -Cream Cheese Vatrushka with marionberry

I fell in love with Russian piroshkys when I tried the beef & cheese piroshky at the traveling Kaleenka's Piroshky concession food truck. After having a divine piroshky experience at Kaleenka's, I went on the hunt for local piroshky restaurants, leading me to Piroshky PIroshky near Pike place. I was unfortunately a little disappointed. The flavor at Piroshky Piroshky was not as powerful and enriching as I had hoped for or expected. For me, much of the flavor resides in the dough and Piroshky Piroshky's dough is a bit bland. One of the positives of this place is it offers a wide assortment of dessert piroshkys in addition to meat filled ones.l The menu offers a variety of bakery treats, including cinnamon rolls, hazelnut rolls, white chocolate rolls, and more. They have an amazing location right by Pike Place market with a street facing order window. The line is usually quick and the piroshky's are pre-made, making the service convenient and fast.

  • Aubrie A.

Not my favorite thing we tried in Seattle - I'm not a fan of onions and there were very little options for savory items without onions. I ended up getting the ham & cheese and I thought it was too salty and buttery for me! Fun to try though!

If you are walking around Pikes Place wanting to try something different this is a good place to start. The smoked salmon piroshky excellent!

Even the thought of the beef and cheese piroshky + potato cheese mushroom piroshky combo makes me squeal with excitement. This place is legit. Even when completely packed the staff is happy and extremely sweet. Required pit stop when in the pike place area. GO!

Line wasn't too long on a Saturday morning and moved quickly to boot. We got the beef and onion as well as a fancy sounding cinnamon cardamom twist. Both were pretty good but nothing to get too excited about it. Great to try while you're in the market area but not a big standout for me!

Highly recommended Smoke Salmon Pate, Potato Cheese & Apple Cinnamon Rolls. Come early breakfast so u don't have to wait long line :)

  • Sana K.

Yummmmm. This bread is delicious. I had the smoked broccoli mushroom and mozzarella, and the apple cinnamon roll. It is worth the hype that surrounds it. The line is huge, but it is worth it, and it moves rather quickly. I was a little disappointed because they ran out of the smoked salmon pate, but that's probably just a testament to how good their bread is.

Before I start my review I want to say: THE HYPE IS REAL. People say "this is popular because tourists hype this place up" or "as a local this place isn't that good but I guess it's something tourists love to go to while at Pike's market" NO. Just coz the place is touristy doesn't mean it's not as good as it sounds because you're a local. This review is an accurate review of our experience and our opinion on the taste of the food. The food: we ordered the Salmon Pate Piroshky and the Cinnamon Apple Roll. After reading the reviews, we were afraid the salmon piroshky would have an unpleasant fishy aftertaste, salty, and greasy as some folks mentioned. Well, our food was the complete opposite. The Salmon Piroshky was not at all greasy and didn't taste overwhelmingly fishy. It had the perfect balance. The cinnamon apple roll was also good. The service: you pay as you order and we were glad there wasn't a line. Overall, the salmon Piroshky was delicious and we would like to try the Beef and Cheese next time.

Nothing brings me back to my childhood more than eating a piroshky. Growing up in a huge multicultural metropolitan area i was exposed to a lot of different foods including a fair share of Russian food. Blinchiki and potato knish and my all time favorite, piroshky. These guys do it right. I'm not russian myself so i can't speak to how it compares to what you get from the source, but i do know that when you surround well spiced beef and onions in a flaky buttery croissant-like crust that you have a hell of a savory pastry on your hands. Eating one of their piroshkys hits the spot so well. It's like the perfect comfort food. If you like to go to pikes place market and haven't tried this place yet you need to do yourself a favor and check it out next time. Real talk.

Lines are long with tourists in the summer, but it's worth the wait. I was drawn in from the street by the amazing smell, and it didn't disappoint. I've mostly tried the sweet pastries, but I'm interested in the savory ones and borscht too.

HOLY PIROSHKY! This place is not for the novice. A line at least 25 deep at all times, and when you arrive at the ordering counter, there is no way to settle on one. 20 kinds to choose from, and they are hefty. There is sweet (cherry white chocolate, marzipan, chocolate cream hazelnut cream), and savory in meat (beef and onion, smoked salmon pate) and vegetable (cabbage and onion, potato and mushroom) -- these are just a few of these morsels from heaven. Most are $2-4 each, and really, one will do ya. piroshkybakery.com/menu.… - study ahead of time, and get your ducks in order! LIKE! LIKE!

We tried our luck at this hot spot later in the afternoon (around 5 pm) to avoid the long lines we had heard about. It was about a 15 min wait to get to the counter. They were already out of the cheese & potato variety (for our one picky eater) but it all looked & smelt so good, so we settled on the beef & cheese (which was delicious) & the potato mushroom, which was also super flavorful. If we are ever in Seattle, we will be sure to stop by to try all their delicious pies!

There is a reason this place typically has a line around the corner. I've now been here 2x. Their salmon pate is to die for. I gobbled it up in about five minutes. On average they are about $5 a piroshky (which is pretty good especially considering the size). They serve you really quickly and make great recommendations when you get to the counter. I would say that the only downside is they don't have much in terms of drinks (bottled products), but you can easily grab something some place else in Pike Place. Also, the seating is very limited (but that's true of a lot of places in Pike Place).

Smoked salmon pate was recommended to us. It was savory and delish. You will wait in line. It's always busy.

Smells heavenly, tastes great too! I'm local so I mostly avoid this place during the crazy summer lines. But when all the tourists have gone away it's a nice stop for a warm bite to eat on a rainy day. Missing one star: the insides are variable. Sometimes I'll get one loaded with delicious filling. Other times the filling fairy seems to laugh at me and there's only a few bites of goodness. I'd say there's usually less than more. But such is the way of fillings.

This place is amazing! I split the mushroom and potato piroshky and the potato and cheese piroshky and they were great. I particularly liked the mushroom one. I am so sad though that I didn't brave the line sooner (like when I still lived in Seattle). Don't be like me. Even if you hate lines like I do. Go, stand in line. Wait patiently. It's worth it!

When we walked into the Pike place market, we saw a long line at this place so we just decided to line up. My husband got the beef and cheese. It was AMAZING. Very rich and one of a kind! I got Apple & Cinnamon and it was all right. Nothing really special.

I have a soft spot for salty breakfast pastries, hence my love for the kolache (Czech pastry). So I was so excited to go here!!! As recommended, I got the smoked salmon piroshky (if you're in Seattle, you gotta get everything seafood) and the beef/cheese piroshky. The smoked salmon was so delightful! I was actually expecting slices of smoked salmon but it's more of a pate. AND, what's even better is that I normally really dislike dill but the dill in this was so light that it complimented the salmon very well. The beef/cheese piroshky was not bad... lots of onions in it and not as much cheese as I thought. They are a bit pricey at around $4-4.50 per piroshky but they are big... you should share it with another person if you'll be eating other things at Pike's Place. My only recommendation is that they make them half the size for half the price! That way I can have different kinds without being overly stuffed. I'm back in California & I miss this place already.

This place makes me horny, As in I get hot as hell for a Piroshky! All around yum yum in my tum tum!!! Just take the advice of all the great ratings and get there, as I think it's obvious that there is no possible way you would be disappointed...unless you are not a fan of goodness?

this place is by far my favorite PNW food passion. I enjoy them weekly, well as much as i can get away to Downtown Seattle to start my weekend. You might have to wait in line for a few minutes, you will have to rub shoulders with tourists, you will go broke if you visit frequently :) My favorite piroshky is the cheddar and garlic...yummmmmmmy :) get two, one for instant gratification and one for later in the afternoon when you are craving the yumminess. What more can be said for this place to let you know that it is a Seattle must visit? love this place more than my own cooking, well you know what i mean.

Yum Yum! They have all sorts of piroshky here that it's difficult picking what I want. It's not too heavy since the outside is light and crispy. I recommend eating it warm.

The aromas alone make this Pike Place Market spot worth a visit. It seems that every time I am in the area there is a line-up outside of Piroshky Piroshky. This is a testament not only to their popularity, but also the size of the shop. By the time you have grabbed your pastry and paid, you have already fallen out of the other side of the shop. It is definitely small, but plenty big enough to serve its tasty purpose. With an extensive selection of meat, vegetarian and sweet choices, it is easy to find a piroshky to enjoy. Being morning and all, we went with a breakfast-y savory piroshky, Spinach Egg & Cheese, and a sweet one, the Apple Cinnamon Roll. In the Spinach Egg & Cheese, the pastry dough was perfectly tender and flaky, while the filling was still moist and abundant. Surprisingly filling for its size. On the sweet side of things, the Apple Cinnamon Roll appeared to be composed of a long rope of pastry dough wound in a spiral with wedges of apple inserted at frequent intervals and the whole thing lined with plenty of butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. The end result is like a cinnamon roll on a former-Soviet, Olympic steroid program with plenty of gooey cinnamon-sugar filling and tender but crisp apples baked just right. I do enjoy Piroshky Piroshky just how it is, but if they could somehow manage to serve these piping-hot out of the oven, I think that would make these pastries just about perfect. At about $3.00 to $4.00 per piroshky, this is a infrequent treat for me, but definitely worth a try for any lover of fresh-baked goods.

I walk by this place everyday on my way to work. Nothing hits the spot (especially if i'm hungover) like meat and cheese in a pastry, especialy at 8.15 in the morning when there's no line. I'm in and out in seconds. This place is quite possibly my new obsession. I have a plan for 2008 to eat one piroshky per week until I've tried them all. Anymore than once a week and I'll start looking like the nice Russian lady who bakes them. However, the best thing about this place is the tip cup it says "The Cold War is over, tips are appreciated". Hee!

In the morning, we drove nonstop from Eugene, OR to Seattle and were famished. Pike's Market was a stop on our road trip, but we only had an hour to spend there. Based on a friend's recommendation, I made it my mission to get a piroshky here. Not knowing where anything was, we walked around and asked several vendors before finally finding this place. OMG. It was so worth it. The ham, spinach, and cheese piroshky was delicious! Light and flaky on the outside, warm and hearty on the inside. Sitting there in cold and damp Seattle weather, I could see the steam coming out of the filling, and for some reason, that made the piroshky taste even better. Unfortunately, we had to go to a friend's house for dinner. It took everything I had to stop myself from trying a sweet one and ruining my appetite! I will definitely be back.

This place is amazing. I literally have nothing bad to say about this place; the piroshky is always fresh and the staff is always friendly. I haven't tried all of the many different flavors of piroshky, but the ones I have had (which include the beef and cheese, rhubarb, cinnamon and cardomon braid, cranberry apple, and plain beef) are wonderful! They don't always have borscht, but when they do it is also great and I highly recommend it.

Ok, I will be up front with you. I saw this place on Anthony Bourdains "No Reservations". I am a sucker for anything Mr. Bourdain raves about. I knew when I got to Seattle that I had to make a visit. So...my first day in the actual city. My husband goes to work...guess where I go? This place. I guess I am lucky because I eat at weird times of the day...this ='s no lines! I walked right in and immediately was the only person in there. It is a very small place...with only 2 stools to sit at. Basically...you go in...order...and then be prepared to find somewhere else to eat. Since it was my first time here I went with the standard...the beef and cheese Piroshky. I am sure most of you already know that is was amazing. The crust was perfectly cooked and the meet in side was delicious. I happily walked down the street stuffing my face with it. It was just a few short hours ago that I consumed that delicious meet pie....and I am already thinking about another.

This place is a small shop filled with a variety of baked goodies. The outer shell of the piroshky is so flakey and yummy. I've made croissants before so I know how difficult it is to get just the right amount of flakiness. Overwork the dough and it'll easily destroy the flakiness. That was not a problem here. They must take extra care when rolling out the dough. I had the beef and onion piroshky and I enjoyed it a lot more than what my bf ordered which was the chicken, mushroom and rice. It had a peculiar seasoning that didn't agree with my tastebuds. Overall it was a wonderful treat to eat by the waterfront. Be sure to grab napkins as the flakes get all over the place.

Last time I walked around the market, I realized I needed some meat, protein really. I wanted quick, semi cheap, portable, and something new. Piroshky Piroshky was a fit. I am amazed that that I never have been here. My original assumption that they only had those "beef and onion thingies" was wrong. As I waited in line there were more and more items that I wanted as my stomach growled. These taunters were staring at me through the window as they proofed and through the glass display as they waited. Salmon cream cheese piroshky, strudels, mushroom spinach piroshky, etc. The prices were a little higher then everything else in the market but my eyes won over my head. I only ordered a beef, onion, and cheese piroshky this trip but long for the apple cinnamon roll I had to stare at in my tourist populated line wait. Having no fear that the place is going anywhere I will make sure to work it into my schedule the next time I am around and it's convenient. My piroshky was good. It could have been warmer. The meat mixture was tasty and filling- though small in stature. My only complaints are that the location is cramped and there really is no seating. I know I said I had wanted portable but the others seated looked so cozy and had amazing people watching positions.

I can't understand the hype to this place. Sure, it is centrally located in Pike Place Market so it gets a lot of tourist traffic. I guess it is something fun to do while you're in the neighborhood because you get to see the workers kneeing out dough to make the pastries. If you're visiting Seattle, I'd recommend coming to this place once. However, if you live in Seattle, this is not a place you desire coming back to. First of all, there is usually a long line to wait in. Granted, the wait is usually not that bad. My times trying the food here, I wasn't that impressed. The food really isn't that tasty. The dough is super buttery and you can see all the oil seeping on a napkin. I've heard people rave about this place over and over again, but don't think it is all THAT great. I suppose it hits all the marks in terms of being a good tourist stop: cheap/affordable food, originality, and great location. But again, I can't see myself coming here again.

Long long but so worth it!! Walking by Pike's Market you get a whiff of the smell and can't help but want to try one! Best part is the line loops around and before you step into order, you will past by their glass window which has pictures of the different pastries they sell. We ordered: beef and onion, apple cinnamon roll, marzipan roll, and cinnamon cardamon braid. Surprisingly after reading the reviews, and few mentioning marzipan roll--- this one was the BEST one I ate. Marzipan roll is basically has some sort of almond paste inside and the outside pastry is just SOOO GOOD. I think everyone has their own preference, so just try a few different ones to see which one floats your boat. They are on the pricey side, but each of them are pretty filling.

There may be a long line but trust me, their piroshkies are worth it! Seriously, so ridiculously delicious! I tried their 3 most popular piroshkies - the Apple Cinnamon, Smoked Salmon Pate, and Meat & Cheese. All warm and buttery and just straight up awesome. The two savory pies were my favorite, the apple cinnamon was just a bit difficult to eat and maybe not as fresh out of the over as the other two. The cardamon braids looked delicious going into the oven, definitely want to try those when I return!

My mouth is in love with this place. Really, just about all my senses were in for a treat while waiting in line for my fix. Numerous peds walking by commented that if so many people were willing to wait in the long, and quickly moving line, it must be good. And the counter staff does a good job of keeping things moving efficiently. This time around, I had a bite of my mom's apple cinnamon roll (delicious!) and the sauerkraut, carrot & onion (orgasmic!) Any time I come to Pike Place Market, I *must* go here.

Smoked salmon pate piroshkis...I would eat them every day, but I'm only in Seattle twice a month. You must try one (or five). They're adorable (shaped like a fish) and are so tasty. They also have a great selection of desserts--my favorite is the apple cinnamon roll, though the white chocolate cherry piroshki is great, too. Note that the place is teeny tiny, and there's only room to sit down at the four-seat counter if you're there at an off time (like a weekday morning).

  • Kevin K.

Every morning you'll see people lined up for these tasty treats and think to yourself, "is it worth it?". My answer: totally! I make a point to always stop by PP when I'm in Seattle. Usually walking away with two piroshki: one savory and one sweet. There's so much flavor packed inside these doughy shells. My new favorite is the salmon pate - it's shaped like a fish! Suck it up and wait in line (it moves quickly!) and treat yo self to a yummy piroshki.

We stopped here during our look around Pike Place Market. There was a line but it went by pretty quick. We decided to order three to just to taste and try. The beef and cheese one was okay. They say it's a #1 favorite but I wasn't that impressed. It reminded me a lot of those chinese meat buns but with a little bit of dry meat. We also tried their apple cinnamon roll which was pretty decent. We ate it a few hours later so it wasn't as fresh and it was still good. I'd assume that it would've been much better had we eaten fresh once we bought it. My favorite piroshky that we had was the Smoked Salmon Pate. I'm still dreaming about it. I am not a salmon fan at all. I don't like to eat it unless it's raw sashimi style. That's pretty much the only way I eat my salmon. I only really ordered this because my husband wanted to try it. In the end, he had to fight me for it because I couldn't stop eating it. It was so good! The pate was amazing and the bread texture was just right. Now that I'm back home and far away from Piroshky, I still will only eat salmon at a Japanese restaurant or now at Piroshky Piroshky.

Ahhhh, these flaky baked goods were not what I was expecting from Piroshky Piroshky. For some odd reason, I thought they sold Polish pierogis and that Piroshky Piroshky was just a cutesy name. Oops! I was taken aback when I saw the contents in the glass case, but I ordered the most popular savory items anyway. It was way too greasy for my liking, and it's hard to eat while walking through the crowded market. Perhaps I should've stuck to my usual sweet item, instead of opting for the savory. The line is long, but it moves quickly, so if you really want some Piroshkys, just wait.

A SEATTLE PIKE PLACE FAVORITE! Although this place is infested with tourists, it doesn't ever stop me from going here everytime I'm around Pike Place Market. There is almost always a line here, but it goes by extremely fast, in fact, I don't think I've ever waited more than 10 minutes - which is amazing considering the amount of people who wait in this line. As you approach the front of the counters, you can watch the experts craft up their Piroshky's by hand. It's pretty cool to watch how fast they can make these delicious pastries. They have everything here from savory to sweet, vegetarian to ones loaded with meat, and of course the sweet ones with cherries and chocolate. These pastries hold up pretty well, so you can even take them to go if you're full from all the good food in Pikes Place and save them for later. They'll put them in a box for you to enjoy later on in the day. I'd even say that you can refrigerate them and warm them up the next day, if you dare! My favorite one is the cheese and beef (although, I think this is everyone's favorite). I've tried the potato and cheese and that's really good with a lot of potatoes and cheddar cheese. I have yet to try the sweet ones, but I've heard from many people that they are just as good as the savory ones.

Ah the smell of piroshky! I've been told by many friends this was a must stop if I ever venture to Seattle. With so many reviews I'm gonna keep this short and sweet. Just come here, you will not regret it. If you love buttery and flaky pastries, both sweet and savory, just do it! The wild rice with chicken and mushroom is probably the best savory pastry I have ever indulged. Sure I made a damn mess with crumbs all over my shirt but I didn't care. Just slightly greasy but the combination of all 3 igredients didn't stop me from eating the entire thing. The apple and cinnamon pastry - don't be scared by the size. It's not overloaded with sugar but just enough so you can eat more pastries and not feel guilty later. The chunks of apples with a dust of cinnamon will satisfy the tartiness in you. Order more than 1 pastry if you are visiting from out of town. You can use the baked goods for bribing purposes, score brownie points for maybe impressing someone, or just performing a good deed for being generous!!!!

For a quick savory or sweet snack, this is the place to be. (Downtown location) Don't be intimidated by the long line, it moves fairly quickly. I would recommend that while you are in line you pull up their menu on your smart phone and think about what you will order. Keep in mind that they sell out of certain items, so have a back up in mind. P.S. As I was standing in line with a friend, I got a few people in front of me also look at the online menu and pick their items (it definitely helped move the line along ;)).

Went on a Sunday around 2 and the line was around the corner. I ordered the potato and mushroom piroshky and sat on the lawn across the street to eat it. It was really good.. a good ratio of stuffing to the bread. Not too oily.

Piroshky Piroshky, love me some Russian pie! The line is always long but moves faster 'though. Their best sellers are beef and cheese, smoked salmon pate and apple cinnamon roll. It's not the most amazing thing but just darn good!

Truly addictive! I came to Seattle on vacation and I stopped by this place and picked up a potato and onion piroshky before hitting the aquarium and my god it was so good. It was soft and warm and you can see as your waiting in line that they are making these little hand pies fresh throughout the day. Everything about it was amazing.

I went to Pike Place on Monday, hoping that there wouldn't be tons of people and of course on a sunny day in Washington - there was! Luckily my friend and I were starving so we decided to stop here where we have never been before. We both decided on the infamous salmon piroshky! (That's not the name but I'm sure you'll find it. It's their most popular.) I would say it was quite satisfying! The flavor was so savory! I thought that the piroshky would be straight up baked salmon in the piroshky but it looked as though it had been mixed with certain ingredients.. whatever it was It was great! I definitely recommend! The wait wasn't too long even though the line was! The workers were face and very friendly! Best first time experience!

Seattle Donuts Cool, mom and pop-ish "piroshky", (which is like a danish, or donut) shop down by Pike's Place. They have sweet ones and savory ones, and each one is in the $3-$5 dollar range. The lines are long, and they do sell out of certain prioshkys, so I would go early to get your pick of the litter. There's lots of food to tryl but I think even the locals approve of this one.

If you only try one bakery place around Downtown Pike Place Market. I certainly would recommend this place, compared to other french bakery around the corner!!! Their apple cinnamon roll is a KILLER!!!! Insane tasty and different than those of other places. It was crowded and tiny shop; but you won't feel disappointed afterwards!!!! GET them when you're in town!!!

If you are visiting Seattle, then this is one of those food spots that everyone back home will ask if you tried. I did and my thoughts are....it's like a fresh hot pocket. I tried the beef and onions and the salmon pate. I prefer the former because it had a nice aroma from the onions but slightly greasy. The smoke salmon pate was less greasy but I am not a fan of cooking smoke salmon again. If they would just spread it after the pastry is done, I think it would taste better. Anyways, just try it and judge for yourself.

This place is good, but it's not great. But this is also the only Prisohky that I've ever had, so I have nothing to compare it to. I would love too try Red's Prisohky from Orange Is The New Black and compare it to Prisohky Prisohky's though... Bread is soft and filling is flat good. Spices tend to overpower the flavor of everything, I think all I could taste in the Chicken Mushroom and Rice Prioshky was the oregano. But it was, I mean, good...but only good. Does that make sense? Worth the line? If you're a tourist, yes. If you're a Seattlite, no. Go during the weekdays. My boyfriend and I went there on a weekday after work and grabbed a beef and cheese Piroshky, to which he said, "so you just got a hamburger?"...yeah...kind of.

I wasn't really a fan of this place. The line was long, and the result was some overly salty (or plain) pastries. My bf and I shared the beef and onion piroshky (wayyy too salty!) and the smoked salmon piroshky as well as an apple cinnamon roll. The smoked salmon piroshky was probably my favorite. Too bad my Russian boss tells me that's not an authentic flavor at all. (I tried because, hey, I'm in Seattle, the Pacific Northwest, why not). The apple cinnamon roll was dry and had very little cinnamon or other flavor. (I'm a bigger fan of gooey, fluffy, caramel, cinnamon rolls) Apparently, potato and mushroom (onion?) piroshkys are more authentic, so I'll give that a try next time!

Flaky: Girls, Wi-Fi internet, and Piroshky pastries. I spent more time thinking about how flaky it was then the taste itself, which was actually quite good; each bite pieces would fall off all over (although admittedly I can be quite the messy eater when the occasion calls for it). We had the Bavarian sausage and Beef and onion pastries. Considering both are nearly the same price yet the Beef and onion pastry seemed to be twice in size and three times better in taste, you can guess which one I'd recommend... Don't be intimidated by the line that stretches outside, it moves quick and the servers are surprisingly smiley and friendly. There is little space to sit and eat so go in with the mindset of grabbing something to eat while walking through the market area. Although I wouldn't recommend it, we saw a few kids sitting on the concrete ground bridge between the parking garage and the market itself enjoying their baked goods :/

  • Diana Y.

Had the chocolate hazelnut and also the cranberry apple. I am more partial to the cranberry apple one because I liked how you can really taste the fruit pieces, and they were stingy with the filling either. The chocolate spread had a whipped and light taste to it, as opposed to a more deep intense flavor that I had imagined. One of the best things about this place is that you can see all the pastries that haven't been baked yet sitting by the window and tempting all passer-bys. There are so many varieties and everything looks so good that it's so hard to decide which one to order.

Solid. Preferred salmon pate over beef and cheddar. I thought the bread itself could be more moist -- the edges where the filling was missing tasted a bit dry.

I worked on James Street this summer, and one day found myself with a large hankering for a piroshky. Of course, I knew that this craving could only be satisfied by the piroshkis at Piroshky Piroshky. So what did I do? I walked all the way through downtown in 95 degree weather to get there. Did I sweat through my outfit? Yes. Did a homeless man follow me and ask me out along the way and get creepily close to me? Yes. Was it worth it? ABSOLUTELY. The salmon pate is what dreams are made of. I am not kidding. My dreams are filled with dancing fish shaped piroshkys and sometimes they sing. The piroshky I got that day was so good, I was tempted to go to Le Panier next door to get everyone who was working there an iced drink. But alas, my plan was foiled as everything was closing for the day once I walked out. Someday, I will fulfill this debt, and it shall be glorious.

Excellent food and fun to support this local business. We took ours across the street and ate with a view of the water!

Yummy! One of the places I take all of my vistors. I love the sweet piroshkys, but usualyl get the Salmon and Cream cheese "Fish".

Salmon piroshky is the best! However, in general, I think their dough is too thick for a traditional prioshky.

Brace yourselves people. There IS A LINE. No freaken joke there is. I had to see what the hype was about. After reading some reviews, I realized that although this place seems like a dessert bakery, people really like their savory piroshkies. Since I had a red eye flight coming up, I knew I would want something else savory. So I opted for their most popular dessert piroshky, the apple cinnamon. I ate it later during my flight for a dessert treat. What I did like about the apple cinnamon, is that it's not too sweet and it's not a dainty little thing either. But I didn't get a super wow factor from it. I did taste the apple and cinnamon, but it was nothing amazing. Maybe it's because I packed it and ate it later? Either way, I'm gonna come back next time I'm in Seattle to taste their salmon piroshky.

Tried it at Northgate... wasn't that impressed. The bread was just mediocre. Too salty.

  • Leigh S.

The apple cinnamon pinwheel looked amazing, but unfortunately I went for a savory treat. I got the Mozzarella Mushroom Piroshky, which was just OKAY. I wouldn't hold it against them, but I definitely would not get it again. Fortunately, though, I went before it got crowded. When I passed by again at three, the line was CRAZY! Go early in the morning and get a sweet piroshky!

I don't really know what a Piroshky is or what it's supposed to be. All I know is you HAVE to try one of these things!! Hubby went for savory with the meat and cheese and I indulged in sweet- rhubarb. You know how those things go with couples- we each got our own, but then traded pastries and shared a bite. I enjoyed my own piroshky so much, but then I tasted his and thought that one was JUST as good. For a brief moment, I contemplated slipping away, getting lost in the crowd of Pike's Place Market with a piroshky in each hand, abandoning my husband and leaving him pastryless... But it was just a fantasy, and I, of course, gave him back his lunch, not having the heart to deprive the poor guy of the deliciousness that is the piroshky, with the promise to myself to come back for more later. If I lived in Seattle, I'd get really fat.

Magically today was able to walk right in no line! Which was a first! But I don't mind waiting in the line knowing a hot tasty piroshky waits for me. I love the beef and cheese, potato, onion and mushroom and for something sweet apple cinnamon roll!! The prices are great which also explains the line. If you have time wait in the line and try one of these delicious Russian pastries!!

  • Steve T.

Came in late in the day so we were not able to try the salmon piroshky. Tried the Beef and cheese, ham, spinach, and cheese, and chicken and rice. Did not see what they hype was. Also tried the cherry white choc.- tasted like a cherry danish. =/...wasted stomach space for better food ....

This seems to be a nice Russian place. The lady on the counter was helpful in answering my questions about the different options. We ordered quite a bit of food here and it was average. We ordered the following: -Chicken, Rice and Mushroom Piroshky- Best of the lot -Potato and Cheese Piroshki- Average -Rhubarb Piroshky-Good -Cheddar Cheese Roll-Average -Puff Stick (You cannot comment much on puff sticks, can you?) They don't heat up the Piroshkys much and that seemed to be our problem.

Good vibe, but I was a little disappointed by my piroshky, which kind of doughy and arrived slightly cold. I'd give it 2.5 if you could. But hoped for better.

Piroshky's all the way! Such tasty, good, yummy, savory and sweet pastries. Staff is always friendly and has good service. Prices are very affordable. If you are definitely around the market, this is one of those places you must go and visit.

This place had a line all weekend long. I finally broke down and joined the masses. I had the oyster star piroshky or something like that-had chocolate on it. The reason I can't remember is because I'm actually trying to forget I ever ate it. It was super duper dry! I had to buy a water to wash it down or it would still be stuck in my throat right now. I'm not sure if I got a 2 day old piroshky or this is typical but I'll never find out. The line does move quickly so you don't have to wait long if you care to try this place.

Delicious and cheap,, what more can I say?? The food is incredible, and the line moves fast. Totally worth the hype!

The meat and cheese piroshky was the bomb. The cheese and potato one was too doughy. The apple cinnamon piroshky wAs not very good too. The meat one is very memorable. Awesome. Worth the long wait.

Some of their piroshkies are really good, others I'm not a big fan of. They are definitely best when they are fresh from the ovens and haven't cooled to room temperature.

Not only did OITNB taught me a thing or two about prison life, like how to win over inmates with pizza, but it introduced me to wonderful world of piroshkis. I wonder how Piroshky Piroshky would fare with Red's. It for sure has my seal of approval ( and Anthony Bourdain's, apparently). Piroshky Piroshky is situated next to the original Starbucks. The warm smell of baked goodies emanated from the small shop as I approached it. It was still early in the morning and there was a small, manageable line at the door. It moved along quickly. I had already done my research and decided to try the popular Beef and Onion piroshky. There are an abundant selection of sweet and savory piroshkis to pick from. I will definitely be back to try the chicken, mushroom and rice piroshky as well as their sweet pastries. The space is very small although there are about 4-5 stool seatings available for coffee and a quick bite.

I came to Seattle the first time about 5 years ago. My family and I were staying in a condo right at Pike Place market. My dad has always been an early riser, so he would head over to the market and grab us coffees and breakfast. He brought us piroshkys one morning and I have loved them ever since. Flash forward to last weekend, when my boyfriend and I spent the weekend in Seattle before heading to Oregon. I kept telling him, "We have to find this piroshky place my dad found!" That was our goal our first morning. We got up early and found it with no trouble. This place is tiny and the line gets long fast. But it is so worth it. For the 3 days we were in Seattle, we ate here for breakfast 3 times. My favorite was the smoked salmon pate. The crust is buttery and the filing is so flavorful. We also tried the beef and cheese, potato and cheese, smoked mozzarella and spinach, and the ham, cheese, and spinach(my least favorite because it was just too salty). I found out they ship nationwide, which might be a problem because I don't think I can go another 5 years without these.

Just what the doctor ordered. Somewhat tired and drawn out from a previous night of pub crawl debauchery, including Blarney Stone, Whiskey Bar, Nite Lite, Kell's and Can, Can we were strolling around town, in the rain, searching for FOOD. The mid-morning "dregs of drinking" hunger pangs were crying out for burritos, the all time after morning breakfast of champions, when we stumbled upon the aroma of something wonderful emerging from Piroshky, Piroshky. With no immediate burrito place in sight we quickly opted for one of these savory little gems. I quickly snagged one of the hot beef & onion combinations. With a filling of seasoned meat and a perfect ratio of onions, surrounded by the most incredible flaky and buttery dough, we were happy as northwestern clams. Walking down the street in the now heavy mist, we were contented and once again feeling somewhat human, with last nights' refrain looping through our brains, "Show me the way to the next whiskey bar, oh don't ask why..."

The long line ouside the door says enough for me. It's a rather small shop that can probably hold ten people if you tried hard enough. A large selection from sweet, to vegi, to meaty, and nothing but mmm mmm good. A hearty meat and potato treat to warm the soul for a cold rainy Seattle day. I've had a piroshky from other traditional Russian bakeries and had a super greasy mess to deal with. The piroshky at this joint was light and flaky...and not as greasy. You have to eat these warm and fresh. I'm sure it will be a mushy yuck if you wait to eat it later. I tried the Beef and Onion Prioshky and the Apple Cinnamon Roll. A little bit of sweet and salty. It's a great treat when you feel like having a snack that's different from the norm. A must try when you're in at Pike's Market.

Mmm mmm good! Piroshky Piroshky is popular on food network, so I thought I'd try it out, its delicious baked goods are well priced and taste great! I had the white chocolate raspberry pastry and boy was it fantastic! It's Perfect for a mid day sweet treat! Be prepared to wait in line, Piroshky Piroshky is worth waiting for!

Piroshky is good stuff, and Piroshky Piroshky does a great job if you want to go to Pike Place and fight the mass of tourists. Actually, go here with your out of town friends and grab a nice Piroshky, as you will become hungry walking through all the stalls of Dahlias and Fish. This is a quick (after you stand in line!) hot snack that is tasty! This place has just enough room to have a single file line wind out the front door, with a small stool counter that fits 2 people. Most of the Piroshkies (sp? How do you spell the plural?) are $3 to $4.50. The classic beef and onion was sold out on my trip, so I went for the Salmon, which was excellent. BTW, I always saw Piroshki's spelled ending in an I rather than Y. Does a baked chinese char siu bow pass for a piroshky? How about as a piroshki?

I've read plenty of great reviews for this place, and I just had to go to it on my first visit to Seattle. The line was out the door when I went in on a Saturday afternoon. The choices were good and reasonably priced. I settled on the cheddar cheese roll, giving me a delicious mid-day snack. Take your food a little further down the street and eat it at one of the benches overlooking Elliott Bay and you're good to go.

In love with the pastries here!! Wish I've gotten more!! Small shop, where you just line up and order when you get to the front and leave. The menu with photo and price are displayed on the window and seen when you're in line. I got a apple cinnamon pie, salmon pate, and a beef and cheese. Savory is the way to go! C and I weren't able to enjoy it fresh but a day late. And it was still amazing. Salmon pate gets to be too much if you eat it as a whole, sharing worked out perfectly. C said the beef and cheese was really good, his favorite from the 3. I didn't enjoy the apple cinnamon pie because they didn't peel the skin, so it pointed the inside of my mouth as I chewed it. Sometimes they run out of the ones you might want and in the process of making more. So prepare for a back up choice just in case. So goooood. I wish I had some now!

Not that this place needs another 5 star review but what the heck. It was friggin' delicious! A must-try if you're in the area. My boyfriend and I ordered a cinnamon and a ground beer piroshky. Woah. Moist and flavorful. The're no seating in the bakery but if you walk out into the shopping area there are signs that will direct you to a small outside courtyard where you can enjoy your goodies. It's to the left of the restrooms. Take me back!! 5000 thumbs up!

We never come to Seattle without coming here. Our favorite spot to grab a quick breakfast or lunch, the folks behind the counter are super friendly and super fast. The line out the door should tell you what a popular spot this is.

  • Linda O.

The piroshky's rock! Here's how to make your experience perfect. 1) have your piroshky for breakfast when there is NO LINE. (They open at 8 am., 7:30a on weekends!) 2) bring some water with you. You'll need something to wash this baby down. 3) check out the menu online and make up your mind about what you're going to get ahead of time. It'll be hard to choose and you'll need to think about it. I recommend the Beef and Cheese. Enjoy!!

    (5)
  • David B.

Huge lines out the tiny storefront almost all day. It's not THAT good. But it is good, if you like an exceedingly flaky-crust piroshky that drops flakes everywhere you try to eat it. And you've got to take it somewhere, because there's virtually no seating inside and it's too jammed anyways. Not for eating while you stand, either.

    (3)
  • Chris N.

This bakery is great for a stop in front of the Pike Place Market. Their rhubarb pastry was very good!

    (5)
  • Megan H.

So fabulous I can't even put it into words. Yeah, the savory ones looked good, but I couldn't pass up the rhubarb piroshky. I even came back two days in a row because all the rhubarb was gone on my first try (I had some fantastic apple thing instead). In fact, think I showed an impressive amount of self restraint by not coming back for lunch and for dinner while I was at it. I will dream of the rhubarb piroshky until I can get back to Seattle again...

  • Rachel L.

Yeah man! green onions and cheddar cheese and buttery bread! good for the soul, good for the soul! But I do admit, it is a heart attack ready to happen. Glad I'm young? Still, not a great protection but my treat melted in my mouth, I was in baked goods heaven.

piroshky has gotten me through many of dark winter days and rainy afternoons. nothing like a pastery bun filled with vegetable and potateo to get me through the year.

  • Maria C.

I know it's not typically Russian, but I love a piroshky stuffed with cheese. The plain cheddar cheese and the potato, onion and cheese. YUM! There's always a line on weekends but it moves quickly and the borscht is truly authentic with shreds of beets and cabbage. Amazing food.

    (5)
  • Gil A.

It was cool but watch out for that volcanic hot center if they just came outta the oven! I burnt my tourist tongue hardcore. It was worth the wait but I'll have to try a different Piroshky other than the Ham & Cheese next time in Seattle.

Ordered a variety to take home to California. I accidentally dropped my bag on the floor and my smoked salmon slipped out. Will I still eat it? Yes. Yes, I will.

  • Kate B.

This place almost always has a line around the outside of the shop unless you come during the wintertime (tourism off-season). I'm not crazy about their meat piroshkies. I found them to be a little bland and too oily. But I LOVE the mushroom and celery piroshky. It's flavorful and filling, even though its meatless. Also, its a bit cheaper since it doesn't have any meat. I don't make it down to Pike Place very often and even more rare is it that I'm willing to wait in the long line for this. But occasionally I have an overwhelming craving for the flaky, rich mushroom and celery piroshky and then I simply HAVE to get one.

Holy Piroshky! Piroshky Piroshky, so good they named it twice! So my final morning in Seattle, an hour or so before I had to leave to get to the airport, and we wander down to Pike Place Market for a bite to eat, and what a great note to finish on. Hmm, for those who don't know what a piroshky is, it's basically a meal wrapped in pastry, and is often eaten at times of celebration in Russia. The piroshkys here are nothing short of divine - I opted for the ham, cheese and spinach; OMG these things are freaking outstanding! Fluffy warm pastry, with delicious ham and cheese and... WHY DO WE NOT HAVE THIS IN DC???!!?? I'm sorry, I lost it slightly there! If I was local and lived anywhere near the market, I think I would be at Piroshky Piroshky every day - I'm so sad that I won't get to try some of their other parcels of goodness - beef and onion, bavarian sausage, smoked mozzarella broccoli and mushroom... You lucky Seattlers! I'm surprised this place only has 3 reviews at my time of writing this - get down here and see for yourself - truly outstanding and incredibly inexpensive. So, with piroshky and coffee in hand (yes, I went to Starbucks, so sue me!), we wandered down to watch the world go by in a little park that overlooks the bay, and with this, our last morning in Seattle, life was truly good...

They are soo good! My favorite is the Beef and Onion, however they always sell out. They look small, but as soon as you bite into it, you'll realize the hype. They just melt in your mouth and although they are probably a calorie bomb, it's a great treat when you're down in Pike's. We have never taken a friend there who didn't fall in love.

  • Hans G.

Gave into the hype and visual appeal this morning for breakfast. Promptly bought two boxes full of piroshky to get us through the remainder of our trip. Reading the heartwarming story of the owners' path to citizenship and entrepreneurship is worth dropping by alone. More importantly, though, the salmon pate piroshky is shaped like a fish.

Overall: Delicious baked goods Whilst wondering around in the Pike Place market vicinity, we were drawn to the delicious smell that draws us like "bees to honey" - that being the sweet smell of cinnamon. It was permeating the air and with an uncontrollable urge we had to see where it was coming from. It turned out to be "Piroshky Piroshky" - a Russian bakery. Before this time, I had no idea that the Russian's actually made any baked goods! Ok, I know that these pastries are a far cry from the REAL Russian Piroshky, but having played around with the ingredients to suit the locals, they are great! We unknowingly joined the end of the line whilst drooling at the pastries in the window and enjoying the delicious aroma of cinnamon. Whilst waiting in line, I heard people walking past making comments such as "you know we have something similar here in the US, called cinnabon..." When we got to the front it was hard to choose what to have, but I ended up having the apple cinnamon roll and my other half had the poppyseed raisin roll. I tell you something, these pastries are COMPLETELY different from the cinnabon rolls, which tend to be overladen with fat and sugar, so much so it makes my teeth hurt when I eat it, then later get a sugar high and low afterwards. The cinnamon and apple roll was just right, there were lots of apple pieces in it, real apple pieces (not candied/preserved). The cinnamon and sweetness gave an exceptional balance between the two, neither of the two being overpowering over the other. The pastry itself was a soft bready dough, which was light yet dense at the same time. Although EACH piece was considerably large, I still felt like trying another. However, we didn't as we would have to get in line again. The ambiance isn't great, but it is a take and eat place (mostly), however there are a few seats. The value was good, considering the size and the labor gone into making these pastries. You can actually see people rolling the dough etc whilst being in store! (UNLIKE cinnabon rolls once again, which come prepacked frozen from some factory).

YUM! Wasn't really expecting much but these babies are GOOD. I had the Potato Mushroom & Onion Piroshky. The dough is really good. Next time I'm ordering a sweet piroshky and then all the rest of items on the menu.

Call me ignorant, but I've never heard of a Piroshky before hitting up this stand. Damn my Chinese ancestors for not passing down the recipe for this Russian pastry! For those of you in the dark about Piroshkies, they involve baked golden bread or a flaky pastry stuffed with sweet or salty filling. Since I'm a salty swine, my top choice at Piroshky, Piroshky and ... Piroshky is the salmon pate piroshky. They actually extract raw salmon liver, cut it up, dress it, mash it and implant the liver play-doh back into baked bread that is shaped just like ... a fish! Ironic, genius and very fitting for a kindergartener. My second choice would be the spinach, egg and cheese piroshky. I also sampled the mushroom, broccoli and smoked mozarella one, but the broccoli killed this star. If you're looking for the flaky pastries, try the chicken and rice one. It tastes like chicken rice soup, without the ... soup. Go figure. Expect to pay about $4.50/piroshky @ this replica of itself.

It's a very tiny place, and there is always a line but trust me it's worth it. The dough is just perfect, and in the first bite it crumbles in your mouth. There is many different kinds of piroshkies. My favorite is the cheese and potatoe, or one with spinach. There is also brocolli, ham and much more. Give it a shot!

Apple Cinnamon Roll -- YUM YUM 5 stars. The apples were chunky and delicious. The pastry portion was not over-sweet at all -- just perfect. Really really really really good. I'd love to go back just to get this again. Salmon Pate -- a little disappointed. The pastry part was very soft, and tasted almost underbaked. Maybe it's a stylistic thing. The smoked salmon portion was delicious and definitely yummy. I'd probably skip this one if you're on the fence. Beef and Cheese -- The pastry was crispy and the filling was average.

a must in Pike's Place Market - there's a line but they move quickly. Get a Piroshky to eat on your way to your next taste of the market...

  • Cece Y.

3.5 stars. The staff here is SO friendly!!!! 5 stars for that! They were more than happy to explain all their different flavors, what a piroshky is, and make recommendations. The Cinnamon Cardamom Braid was pretty good, however, it wasn't amaaazing. To be fair, I came at the end of the day when all of the goods were a day-old and they were sold out of the most popular items. Swing by first thing in the AM!

  • Mark S.

Piroshky Piroshky was really good! I got lucky when I went as the line was only about 10 people in comparison to 20 min later when they had a line looping around to other stores of about 25 people. Don't be discouraged by the line, it goes by pretty quickly. I tried 2 different dessert type items which were enjoyable. I wish I tried the smoke salmon pate which is one of their most popular items. I would definitely visit again next time I'm in Seattle.

    (4)
  • Alexander Y.

I guess a piroshky is pretty much the Russian version of bread stuffed with whatever the hell you want to put in it? YES, especially if it's as good as the salmon pate. Totally loved it, and yes it is shaped like a fish. Other thing I had to get was the cherry white chocolate piroshky. Definitely came in handy at 3 AM, that's for sure.

    (5)
  • Mari L.

I went by twice because the line was so long each time. Happened to go back right as they were closing a third time, so I stopped by and got the chicken, mushroom, and onion (?). Outside was fine, but inside was a bit doughy. Maybe it had been sitting there too long.

    (2)
  • Katrina L.

There is ALWAYS a line! It's worth it, however. We have only gotten their savory piroshkis and they are all good. The potato, mushroom, and onion is my fave! I think that they just opened a new store in north gate or Bellevue? I'll have to check it out!

Piroshky Piroshky is the reason I come to Seattle. It's borderline obsession. First thing's first, my top choices: 1) Beef and cheese 2) Beef and cheese (I'll have two please) 3) Salmon Pate 4) Apple Cinnamon Roll Now that's out of the way, here's a look into my 3 experiences with this lovely bakery: 1) My first trip to Seattle. I tried a few piroshkies as a part of the Savor Seattle Pike Place Market tour. You can say it was love at first bite. I went back that same day, then went back twice on the day of my flight, and obviously packed a few extra to go. Then after I got back to SF, I felt lost without more delicious piroshkies to consume, and looked into air shipping some to SF (it's a thing). In care you're curious, it's ~$180 for 12 piroshkies. I contemplated it for a very long time. 2) My work trip to Seattle. I landed, it was about 100 degrees and I was in my work clothes - headed straight for the beef and cheese. 3) My family trip to Seattle. We settled down at the hotel, then headed straight to Piroshky. Mom wanted to look inside Pike Place Market. Nope mom, first thing's first. We ordered six for three people. Even my extremely picky Asian parents loved every savory bite. But yea, you get it, I'm a big fan.

  • Jared M.

This place is good. I mean really good. It's like baked French pastries with real food in them. They're all flakey and buttery and delicious and then BOOM there's normal food. I really enjoyed the beef onion one, it reminded me of a philly cheese steak croissant. The potato cheese one was also on point. I held off this place for a long time because the line is always really long. It moves fast so don't worry about the line you'll have food within 10 minutes.

A must for trying new bakery items. The line was a give away to how good this place is but we move fast thought so don't be discouraged or intimidated by it.

We had their potatoe & mushroom, mozzarella broccoli & mushroom, and cheese & beef. As a vegetarian I really liked the potato & mushroom over the mozzarella broccoli & mushroom option. It was seasoned just right and filling. My brother liked his as well. For sweets we tried the cinnamon roll, and baked apple. They were all really good and fresh. Luckily the line wasn't too long, I suggest getting a menu beforehand so you know what to get once you're at the register.

My favorite thing to eat when visiting Seattle (and let me tell you that we also ate the chowder, ellenos, and even Shiro's!). Salmon Pate - eat it! I'd eat it everyday if I could. If you love hot pockets, you'll love pirshoky piroshky. The Beef and cheese was also very good, but man that Salmon Pate. Such a nice buttery crust. Such nice creamy salmon inside. SOOO GOOOD!!

  • Christo O.

Love the pieces. We stopped in for a breakfast snack.

Going to cut to the chase about Piroshky and Piroshky - If you like smoked salmon, listen to the Yelpers - you NEED to get the Smoked Salmon Pate!! You have no other choice. If you like cinnamon buns, you should also try Cinnamon Cardamom Braid - perfectly sticky, sweet and cinnamony. We also tried the Smoked Mozzarella, Mushroom and Broccoli pastry, but we were underwhelmed. I haven't tried the other pastries (yet), but so far, the clear winner seems to be the Smoked Salmon Pate pastry.

Ok this place is great and don't let the lines fool you, they move fast. My daughter recommend we go here So after our duck tour (a definite must) we jumped Inline and tried the Salmon & the rhubarb and they were delicious!

  • Christopher S.

Great pastries. You have to order the beef and cheese. It is their most popular item. The line is usually long but it moves fast. They do accept credit cards.

    (4)
  • Jennifer M.

So delish! Very small shop. Long lines of customers in the hot sun waiting for obvious reasons. That's the only reason I didn't give them a five.

    (4)
  • Gary L.

Tourist trap but there's a reason for it. Delicious food but only if it is fresh and piping hot. They have opened a few additional locations (not just Pike Place) where there are no lines but harder to get fresh pastries. Hit or miss.

I'm officially convinced that not only are Krispy Kreme doughnuts made out of crack, but so are Piroshkies! First, that aroma outside, it's like the bizarro plague! You can't avoid the smell of these baked stuffed buns, but at the same time you don't want to because it smells so good. Instead of running away, you want to walk towards it! The store is located not too far from the original Starbucks and you'll immediately know you're approaching it when you see the line outside. It's not as long as the Starbucks line, which is a great thing. The store is extremely small and basically it's comprised of a cash register, casing of Piroshkies and 4 bar stools so be prepared to eat and walk after your purchase. As for the Piroshkies, there is a good variety that you can choose from, but I went with the signature Smoked Salmon Pate. All I can say is Mmmm mmm, it was warm, soft and filling! This bad boy doesn't run cheap, but it's well worth the extra $$. If you're looking for a filling snack, this will definitely do it as it is a hefty bun stuffed with plenty of salmon. It's unfortunate I didn't get to try some other flavors because they all looked awesomely delicious ... or at least smelled awesomely delicious!

    (5)
  • Daisy C.

Came here after refusing to stand in line for the Starbucks. I am so glad I decided to stand in this line instead. The line was long but moved quickly. Once there, the heavenly smell of Russian pastries validated my choice. The beef and cheese was the best choice I've made in a while. Definitely worth it.

Visited this little shop, on the recommendation of my cousin. The salmon piroshki was absolutely delicious. I tried a few other ones, all of them good but not as good as the salmon one. I strongly recommend the salmon piroshki, you will not be disappointed.

  • Sean M.

Tourist food. They're okay, but definitely nothing special. I don't get it.

Yummy comfort food! Can't wait to go back and try things on the menu other than the perogi goodness.

  • Erica T.

The smoked salmon piroshky is reason enough to stand in line at Piroshky Piroshky. The dough is buttery, and the salmon filling is smooth, creamy, and slightly smoky At $5 a piece, it's pricy, but totally worth it. My other go-to is the beef and cheese. Their lunch special is only $6.50 for a piroshky and a cup of borscht soup. The line may be long at times, but it moves fast, so hurry in for a piroshky!

    (5)
  • Dainty P.

Smells delicious, but just average piroshky - nothing special about them. Perhaps I got the wrong one, but the dough was just boring (kinda like potato roll except not as good). The cabbage and onion filling was skimpy but flavorful, with all the butter. If you're not eastern european, then try. If you are, or eat them at your MIL, or make them yourself, pass. Beside, at $5, for not such a good snack...

  • MzJustina S.

My favorite is the salmon patè. This place is always crowed with tourists and the line is always long. If you're local or a tourist, to avoid long wait, I highly recommend driving to Southcenter Mall to get your fix!

    (5)
  • Lorna N.

Had the white chocolate cherry and Oscar's star. Both were very delicious! The line was about a 15 minute wait during Pax weekend.

    (5)
  • Teresa N.

It's just pastry stuffed with the savory or sweet. It was good because it was fresh out the oven. They are like 4 or 5 dollars each, why? Even worst, we waited over an hour to get the pastry. It was also very stressful because you were rushed to order because of the long line and busy employees. Piroshky Piroshky, bye for good! I don't care.

  • Sabrina A.

Not that great, more hype than anything else. Pretty much everything there has the same underlying flavor to it. I've wanted to love them, tried them a few times only to walk away with the same experience each time.

    (2)
  • Helena P.

Love the Piroshky and if the line looks a little long, it moves fast and is totally worth the wait! I love the beef and cheese, which is one of their best sellers!

  • Harry C.

The best pastries in Seattle!!! I haven't gotten any better pastries in Washington other than this store!!! Their smoked salmon pate is a must try. I will come back to this bakery when I am in the town!!!

    (5)
  • Liss A.

I was in Seattle for two days and this was at the top of my list at Pike's Place! Definitely worth it! Most of the piroshkys are gone by mid-afternoon so I suggest coming in the morning. The lines do get long, but they go by pretty quickly. My brother and I shared the ham and cheese one but I regret not trying them all!

Best fast food place in the Market... Me and my friends wouldn't miss to visit this place when we are in Seattle... My personal favorite in their menu is the Smoked Salmon Piroshki.

    (4)
  • Amy N.

Potato and cheese piroshky, just buy it. It was light and fluffy. Amazing and Fresh. Friendly service. There was no wait. I loved it so much, I went back to get more. This is a walk and eat meal. They do have a small counter to eat at. It could get crowded in a hurry.

    (5)
  • S. C.

Line was almost a few blocks long lol but worth the wait! Tried the potato cheese pro sky and it's mouth watering!!!!

Killer pastries! Find them by the line outside the door (don't worry, it moves fast). The savory piroshky were good but the sweet ones are to die for. The white chocolate cherry pirozhok is the owner's favorite and for good reason. Great place to stop in pike place!

    (5)
  • Christy W.

Yes - it is worth the wait!! My faves are the beef and cheese and salmon. The chocolate hazelnut is a great sweet choice. You will not regret waiting in line - it moves quickly.

Really tasty and filling! One piroshki can be a meal. Filling of the piroshkis was a little salty - especially the ham.

  • Tejas P.

This was my first visit and I absolutely loved the food here! I got the Beef and Onion, and the Salmon Piroshky's. I only wish I had a bigger appetite so I could eat more. :P The puff pastry was light and fluffy and not too thick. The stuffing was warm and moist and well seasoned. Delicious! It is an excellent grab and go option for breakfast. The food is constantly being prepared so you can be assured that it is fresh. It can be quite crowded so I would be advised to wait for about 10 minutes on average during meal hours.

  • Jen H.

Overall 3.5 solid stars Yum!! Delicious savory pastries; A little overpriced, but can't really complain since it is located in a touristy area. Ordered: 1) Beef and onion piroshky: 3/5 good, but not as good as the beef and cheese 2) Beef and cheese piroskhy: 3.5/5 delicious 3) Apple cinnamon swirl bread: 2/5 eh, not good--i would skip this one

This is a great place to visit at Pike Place Market if you are in the mood for some Russian handheld sweet or savory pies. They have like a million varieties so I asked them which were their most popular. They are the beef and onion and the salmon. I went with the beef and was surprised how much I liked it. The outside of the pie is flaky and the filling was just the right ratio. Not too much meat. I can never pass up sweets so I also picked up an apple cinnamon roll. It wasn't as tender as I had hoped but it was still pretty delicious. Love these kinds of authentic bakeries!

    (4)
  • Vanessa T.

Came here on a weekday and the line was out the door. The line was crazy long!! I recommend going to another location not the one on pike street. It is a small dainty bakery that has a strong and sweet aroma. I purchased the smoked salmon pate, moscow and the marzipan roll. The 3 were all delicious in different ways. The smoked salmon pate was mouth watering the first half but i got sick of it the last half. The taste was savoring with salmon and pate. The filling is salmon colored and looks like it was blended into a smooth creamy texture. The moscow and marzipan rolls were the sweet rolls. Each were very sweet and tasty. The moscow tasted like a creamy cheese and the marzipan had a strong almond flavor filling. But same as the salmon roll, i got tired of the taste after the first couple bites. Definitely worth trying this russian pastry.

I love the savory piroshkies. Beef and potatoes is my favorite. All the times I have gone, they have always been super fresh and warm. It smells delicious walking by. The line moves pretty quickly.

I'm no piroshki expert but this place is great. The food is delicious and coming here is a very good excuse to come down to the Public Market area.

  • Cori L.

I adore Piroshky Piroshky! Everything I've had there (and I've had most of then menu over the last couple years) has been amazing! The potato piroshkies are usually my favorite, although I do love the spinach one too. If you want something sweet and oh so rich tasting, try the Oscar's Star.

    (5)
  • Stephanie B.

YUM-MAZING! My friend and I shared the salmon piroshky, and I wanted MORE. The bread was soft. Salmon was delicious. It's such a simple treat and kinda tastes like home...but I'm not even from Russia! It's no wonder this place has a long line. Once you get a bite, you'll want more. I wish I could go back to Seattle to steal a variety of baked goods. Tip: Stop by in the morning either before the rush or after. My friend and I came in the morning...I think maybe around 10AM...and it was perfect. We grabbed Starbucks, got our little breakfast fix from Piroshky Piroshky, and sat by the water. One of my favorite mornings in Seattle. It felt so relaxing. =)

Other than the fact that I frequently don't get ALL the items I want, I honestly cannot think of something bad to say about this place.

    (5)
  • Who W.

Tough call between a 2 and 3 star rating, but nowhere close to the current yelp rating. The Piroshky I got was flaky and not bad, but also it was very greasy and the filling just wasn't remarkable. The poppy seed roll was very ordinary, could have been from Safeway. Maybe this is one of the better places to eat in Pike's Market, which is just another reason why you should skip this tourist trap and find some more authentic venues in Seattle.

    (2)
  • Taya S.

5 Stars!!! AMAZING! I had a beef and cheese piroshky, and it was so good! It was warm and buttery, and also had a strong flavor. I definitely will come back to Piroshky Piroshky!!

  • Christina N.

I went here around 8 am and it was the only place with a line. This goes to show how good the food here is. I got the salmon and pate piroshky and it was so good. Full disclosure: if you're lactose intolerant you might want to take a lactaid pill before eating some of these piroshkies.

    (5)
  • Don B.

Piroshky Piroshky is so piroshky that they had to name it twice. Or something. All I know is that this joint has been around, like, fo'eva and every time I return to try a piroshky, they're still top notch. Now, I'm not piroshky expert. I've had plenty versions and plenty of places, but that does not a piroshky expert make. I do know what I like, though, and I like these piroshkys plenty. Sure there's almost always a line. Sure it's in a super touristy spot. Sure it's well known. But that doesn't make it bad. It just makes it piroshky. Did I mention that I like the word piroshky? I do. In fact, this joint is so piroshky that they could call it Piroshky Piroshky Piroshky and I wouldn't bat an eye. Piroshky.

  • Gabe S.

Delicious. Seems like the line is often out the door here, though to be fair the door isn't very far from the counter. I had the beef and cheese which was great.

  • Lisa N.

During my first visit to Seattle, we made an obligatory visit to Pike's Market. We stumbled upon this shop by the line was forming out of the door. All of the pastries look absolutely divine. My favorite is the cabbage roll. The filling is perfectly seasoned. Not overwhelming with pepper. Grab a couple of pastries from the shop to nibble on as you stroll the shops. You can't go wrong with anything from the menu. :) My favorite spot in Seattle. Definitely going to stop by every time I'm in Seattle!

THis place should be renamed Bulimics Wet Dream. If they had a garbage can with a roll of paper towels that I could wipe my face with I would stay here all day, eating and barfing so that I could eat some more. "But instead of becoming a bulimic and standing there over eating, why don't you just order one thing now and come back tomorrow when you want something else, and so on" you ask??.....WHY DON'T YOU STOP TELLING ME HOW TO LIVE MY LIFE DREAM KILLER!

  • Josephine J.

Walk down Pike Place and you pass a lot of places that smell of freshly baked goods. But only Piroshky Piroshky gives off the ever-so-pleasant smell of butter butter butter, more than you could ever handle. Oh my. It's a shame I only got three--the salmon pate was delicious, the onion mushroom celery was the best vegetarian ANYTHING i'd ever had, and...well, OK, the apple cinnamon wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped it would be, but still it was pretty darn tasty. I must get myself to Seattle again, if only to eat every single item on their menu over the course of a week...

    (5)
  • Holly E.

Super yum! I don't know of anywhere within a 50-mile radius that I can get anything like this where I live, so while in Seattle, I had to indulge. My mom and I bought three: Fresh Rhubarb, Cherry & White Chocolate, and Cheddar/Onion/Garlic (by far our standout favorite). My only regret? That I didn't buy a whole box of the cheese/onion/garlic. They are to die for!

What a experience for Russian Bakery! Yes, yes, the line is amazingly long; but it will zip by quick like the diamond land on a freeway in California. Unless you are behind me and my girlfriend; not knowing in time that we can preorder online :) we both had the nerve to order 12-17 piroshky's between us both! Lol yeah the crowd and employees did not seem to pleased with that. The staff had such great patience and customer service and made us feel some what comfortable within the madness crowd. I am very sold on the food! Their beef and cheese piroshky is fabulous and I wish we have something nearly as good back in Northern California. I recommend you to go and deal with the line because it is all worth it :)

  • Megan W.

What a great location! It's in Pike Place, not too far from the 1st Starbucks. My friends and I were walking around Pike Place and decided to stop by and pick up some pastries. I got a triangular cookie thing (can't remember what it's called), and it was really good. It only cost me around $2.

    (5)
  • Kat H.

I have three words for you: cinnamon cardamon braid. It will turn you into a believer. It makes the apple cinnamon roll seem like a benchwarmer who never gets to play, for good reason. And since you should never, ever put yourself in the position of having to "choose" between sweet and savory at this godsend of a bakery, take a friend and get one of each. That way, you can split the dough AND the guilt...awwwww yeah. Use your powers of observation to note that there is almost always a line out the door at this place. In a town as non-committal as Seattle, that is a HUGE and ringing endorsement.

    (5)
  • Ameera N.

If I could eat a piroshky on a daily basis my quality of life would drastically improve. I've tried a couple of different ones, but my fav were the salmon pate and their chocolate cream.... ugh, amazing. It's better this place is in a city that I don't live in, otherwise I'd perhaps be twice my size.

  • John S.

I'm sure I've mentioned this in other reviews, but for the uninitiated, I attended baking school when I was employed by a multinational overseas. As such, I feel (rightfully or no) that I have a decent grasp of the immense hardships of putting out quality pastries. This was best evidenced by the comments of two different instructors, who on separate occasions concluded that I was the worst student that they had ever encountered in a combined 33 years of teaching. I'd like to think that their uncharitable and totally unsolicited comments were due less to my lack of talent than my predilection for goofing around: e.g. conducting choco-pie eating contests, sneaking into the store-room to eat leftover pastries set aside for orphans and recreating the block-breaking scene from Best of the Best with stale baguettes ( youtube.com/watch?v=OsnG… ). Incidentally, I totally used the ridge-hand method espoused by the Korean Tae Kwon Do-ista in that clip. So why do I bring up my less-than-illustrious baking career? It's to clarify something that people don't understand: Baking is not easy. In my opinion, generally, cooking is a much more forgiving art that lends to creativity, bending the rules and trying new things. The science of baking is just that - a much more staid method of food preparation that largely depends on figuring out all of the chemical reactions that arise from the combination of ingredients and then fighting against the odds to produce a high quality product batch after batch. That's why you find so many moms who claim their chocolate cake "is the best" but they just end up following the recipe on the Betty Crocker box to the T. *SMH* After having gone to Piroshky Piroshky the last few times I've been up in Seattle, I want to tell you something, dear readers: The hype is well substantiated and totally deserved. These people obviously know what they're doing as all of my visits have been punctuated by consistently delicious meat filled pastries. Salmon pate, beef and onions, sausage, even cabbage and cheese: all delicious recipes which I can only surmise have been passed down from some long-deceased babushka back in the old country. Despite my desire to "eat light" I couldn't help but buy too many piroshkies and evident with my life-long battle with gluttony, the food sadly won out. As I stumbled to our next destination, stomach grossly distended from overconsumption, I remarked to Devina G: Pop it Tommy, pop it! Aieeee!!! ( youtube.com/watch?v=33JF… ) She didn't get the joke... *sigh*

So many piroshky's to choose from and so little space in my belly. This is a definite must stop in Seattle. I went for something savory (beef and cheese)...but the sweets looked great too! The food is fresh and in total we had 4 different piroshky's among us...everyone was satisfied.

    (4)
  • Symph J.

Reliably yummy! I always love what I have, and always want more. A must in the market on a cold day. Everything is yummy and good and cheap.

  • Jeff P.

Line to this place is ridiculously long! We were able to get in 30 minutes before closing, unfortunately they only had a few selections left. We tried the apple cinnamon and another cinnamon roll and they were both so delicious! There were tons of fresh apple slices in our roll, we were able to get a taste in every bite. Really wish we could have tried the salmon and meat ones, but we'll save that for next time. This is a must try, and is close to beechers. We ended up grabbing a couple pastries along with a large cup of Beecher's Mac and Cheese and ate it all at the nearby park overlooking the water.

    (5)
  • Cristina N.

I tried eating here three different times, and all three times I felt there was something missing. Salt? Food felt heavy in my stomach, and a bit on the greasy side. Third time's a charm for me to decide to only eat the pastries here when one of my tourist guests drags me in.

    (3)
  • Kurt S.

I only semi get the hype. We went for an early lunch (10am) and the line was already 20 deep. Wanted to get the beef/cheese among others but they were all of it and a couple others. Not sure why they don't just keep pumping those out especially since they are the most popular and they indicate that on the menu. The lady making them was making some other random dessert ones which nobody was getting. Ended up getting the beef/onion one which was flavorful but the dough was too flaky and pretty much fell apart and was a mess to eat. On the other hand the bread for the potato and mushroom one was much better but the inside was strange. The mushrooms didn't taste right. Also got some other one with Broccoli which was fine. Would give it another try just for the beef and cheese but really, 2000 reviews? Am I missing something?

Piroshky, piroshky, I love you. I wish you were in California! But it's better you're not, so that you're even more desirable to me. I had to go back a second time because it was so good. It is on the pricer side, with a pastry costing $4.95. The apple cinnamon is great, and so is the beef and cheese piroshky. This place is a must and worth it if you're visiting Pike!

    (5)
  • David L.

Delicious fresh pastries. Almost everything is good here but i particularly liked the chocolate hazlenut cream and cinnamon rolls. Lines are sometimes long but go by fast.

    (5)
  • Amanda C.

Loved the beef and cheese. Double loved the Oscar's Star dessert pastry. Just liked the smoked sausage. We waited in line for a good 25 minutes for these, but the queue moved quickly. And it was so, so, so worth it. The hype is right. If you're at Pike Place, this is a must!!!!

  • Jennifer S.

Everytime my husband and I visit Pike's Place Market we manage to walk by here but have never gone in. Finally on one of our latest trips we had it in our mission to try a Piroshky. My only regret is not trying it sooner. We tried the beef and cheese and a beef and onion. Both were delicious!! We basically ate right outside since there's no place to eat inside. I felt like I hadn't eaten in days, that it was so good that I just needed to consume it quick LOL With that, this place gets packed and will always likely get a line you'll have to wait it but it's soooo worth it. You can also go real early right when they open to avoid that crowd. Also, it's best to choose what you want from the menu on the window before you head in. You don't want to that person that holds up the line. It's a really tiny space and people WILL stare you down. lol

    (5)
  • Mariko H.

this one of the only places to eat in pike place, and is always a great bite before i go home. the people are nice, and while the lines may be long, it's worth the wait. My favorite is the chicken, mushroom, and rice, but they are all good.

    (4)
  • Me H.

Yum, ham, cheese and spinach piroshky please, just one. I love the flakey, greasy yumminess that is the piroshky another great find in the market. I try to stay away from the sweet ones but sometimes they call my name, apple cinnamon = good the chocolate hazelnut = not so good.

    (4)
  • Mags L.

I prefer the savory piroshky over the sweet. Rosemary chicken is the best. Greasy filling and flaky crust.

  • Allie L.

I read up on the other reviews and from all the raves I decided I really needed to try this place. I've only had a piroshky from fairs like The Puyallup Fair and Bite of Seattle so I was excited to taste a more "authentic" piroshky. I tried to go a few days ago but the line went down the block so I came back later in the day and all that was left was the sauerkraut, carrot, cabbage, and onion. It was not at all like the ones from the fair. This was more like a football shaped pastry made with phyllo rather than a roll. The crust was buttery and the filling was very onion-y. I came back a few days later and managed to get a potato, onion, and cheese and the famed apple cinnamon. Again, the potato piroshky was a bit disappointing. I imaged chunks of potato but it was more of a hash from an industrial sized frozen box. I thought both the potato and sauerkraut piroshkies were skimpy on the filling. You'd have to get 4 to fill you up. The apple cinnamon was pretty good. This one was molded like a cinnamon roll of confusing textures. The outside was crisp and chewy, which I loved but the center was doughy and fluffy, when I wanted more of the crispy. Maybe it was under-cooked? Then you got bits of soft (Granny Smith) apple with the skin remaining, which was tough and kind of rubbery. All 3 types were decent. Both the savory ones were kind of unexpectedly sweet. I enjoyed the apple the most. They're a bit blander than ones from the fair but much less greasy. Pros: Variety of flavors, less grease Cons: Small, not enough filling Maybe my past experiences have just skewed my ability to enjoy an "authentic" piroshky.

Oh my Piroshky! How I love those hot yummy piroshki's! Oh the good times we have had sitting on the lawn across the street and sun is shining and the tourists seeing what the flying fish are about. They have the most mouthwatering piroshki's I have ever eaten. Nothing equals the freshness and quality of PP! Never dissappointed and always wanting more! I use to travel to Seattle every month and always took time to stop by and by a few. Once I shipped some home - pricey, but worth it! Someone coming to SF wanna bring me some back? Trade ya

theres a reason why people love these local of places of lore. the kind of places that have been made famous by their history, simplicity and loyalty to a product that is distinctly local in flavor. despite the fact that they have been washed over by waves and waves of tourists, these places are still able to maintain their sense of indivuduality by marketing to a uniquely regional appeal. when i first moved to seattle i went looking for that regional treat. that one comfort food that cannot be replicated anywhere else (read: philly cheesesteaks at geno's, wings at buffalo's anchor bar, bens chili bowl in dc). i and many others would believe that that place can be found at piroshky piroshky. purists can talk all they want about how close to the original recipe they may be, what resonates with these delicious russian treats is a taste of home, even if it isnt orignally yours. piroshky piroshky is a cheap, delicious treat that maks any day in the market all the more rewarding. for four dollars (5 with a cup of coffee) grab a warm, flaky, salty and fulfilling meat and cheese pastry and enjoy it at steinbrueck park while you watch the boats float in. nothing could be better on a lazy morning.

According to Piroshky Piroshky's website, Piroshky is a derivative of the Russian word (pir) for feast. This little hole in the wall definitely lives up to the idea of a double feast! Located on the same side of the street as the original Starbucks across from Pike's Place Market, Piroshky Piroshky serves up pastries filled with either salty or sweet ingredients. My favorites include the Apple Cinnamon Roll and the Cheese Onion Garlic Roll. They are SO good!!!

Tiny caveat. I must weigh in and echo Franklin D. Over-priced compared to what I'm used to. I used to live in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and the piroshky there were the real deal, made by real Russian people. My Da and I used to eat at a place on the Avenue where we were the only English speakers, and I routinely got my cheeks pinched by the ladies behind the steam table because they thought I looked Russian, and we could load up on kasha varnishkes and pirogi (alternate spelling) for a song. Everywhere there's a Russian population, the pirogi are smaller (yep - they're supposed to be smaller) and cheaper. So if you aren't from around here, and are expecting those, these ain't it. I came here accustomed to getting a pile of 10 or so on a plate, swimming in butter, for about the same price as a single piroshy at Piroshky Piroshky. That said, YUM. They're a little different than the ones I grew up on, but they are delightfully delicious nevertheless.

There's always a line, but it's well worth the wait. Everything here is good. Even the sweet pastries! Yum!!! My kids love it, too!! Portions are big enough and filling to be a meal.

During my foodie adventures, I decided to stop by this place for some dessert after eating clam chowder and mac & cheese from the local businesses around Pike Place Market. This line for this place looked long but it moves very quickly and I think I only waited about 10-15 minutes, which was fine because I was still eating my food from my previous stop and I needed time to digest. My bff and I decided to share the apple cinnamon roll and it was fairly cheap ($3.95) for a huge size pastry. The roll consisted of real apple slices in between slices of cinnamon bread. The texture was soft and warm and it was very yummy! I wish I had room in my tummy to try the other popular pastry (salmon piroshky). They do take credit cards!

Every Saturday I start the day by walking over to Piroshky Piroshky (located next to the First Starbucks) and pick out two piroshky to eat while I work. Usually there is a line out the door, but it tends to move quickly. It would be better if they put footprints on the floor so people would figure out that it works better to go in one door and exit out the other. I always get the Moscow roll, to have with my moring coffee. The Moscow roll is a little sweet, but not too sweet., and it is made with Cream of Wheat. Give it a try some time~~~! Or stick to the Coffee roll or the Cinnamon Cardamon Braid. Both of which are a great way to start your stroll thru the market. If you prefer savory, I'd go with the Ham Cheese & Spinach or the Carrot Broccoli & Cheese Tell them that Brian Sent ya~~~!

This place was ok. We ordered the following: 1) Beef and Cheese (4/5) This was pretty good. Not sure if I think it's good compared with the other things we ordered but if I was hungry I would probably come back and order it. The bread, meat, cheese complimented each other and was very savory. I would recommend people to order it if it's their first time there. 2) Beef and Onion (1/5) Do not order. It was kind of gross. The bread is flaky but was kind of stale. Not sure if it was their off day but my friend and I ended up throwing away like 2/3 of it. 3) Apple Cinnamon (3/5) It was ok but nothing spectacular. It was pretty cool that they used real apples but overall it was an ok pastry. Overall it was ok here. The staff was nice and friendly so that was a plus. The actual store is tiny. They only have like 4 seats at the bar. So it may be a good idea to order and then eat it while walking around Pikes Place.

I'm Russian, and it was awesome to discover this little place next to Pike's Place. The staff I interacted with spoke Russian, and the piroshkis had the motherland flavor that reminded me of my grandma's cooking. Very delicious. I had the meat and cheese, but my friends seemed happy with the other flavors as well. Lots of variety and low price for what you get! Great quick lunch option.

I've walked by this place about a trillion times without stopping in, but today I finally decided to take the leap. I've never had anything resembling piroshky before, but the enticing cinnamon smell wafting out the front door drew me in. In the end I actually got a smoked salmon piroshky, which was amazing (and shaped like a fish--cute!). They really did not skimp on the fish filling, making it a great value for 4.95. I don't even like dill remotely, but everything in it went together so well that I didn't even care. I'm definitely going to be stopping in again to try some of their sweeter treats.

A fine snack in a touristy area. You can't really miss with any of the multitude of menu options. Just don't expect to be blown away. You're here for the ambiance of the market, Original Starbucks, and the views of Puget Sound, after all!

Fabulous small place that makes brilliant piroshkies. We make it a point to try and stop by every time we are in Pike Place market! Try the potato and cheese, or the mushroom and onion piroshky. You will not be disappointed - flaky crust, perfectly baked veggies, heaven :) Time we went back there and tried a few of the meaty options!

I cannot stop coming here. Almost every time I'm at the market, I gravitate towards this bakery for piroshky. The line may look long, especially on the weekends, but you get through it fast. I've had the beef and cheese, smoked salmon pate, apple cinnamon roll, and the rhubarb roll. All have been amazing and keeps me coming back for more. As expected from any good bakery, their piroshkies are fresh, made day-of. I'm counting down the days until the next time I go here.

  • Matt T.

As of this writing, they're at over 1500 reviews!?! What can I add? It's in the market, so it's overrun with tourists in summer. But, day-om. Tasty, tasty, tasty! The line snakes around the corner, but it moves pretty fast. The staff are unbelievably friendly despite serving armies of faceless persons per minute. We only had a couple of the savory ones and the spinach-egg thing was good enough that we almost bit our fingers in our enthusiastic abandon.

This is mainly a to go place. Only four stools at a small counter in a cramped location. Prices are reasonable, most items around five bucks give or take $.50. On this round we tried the Oscar's Star, Thanksgiving Piroshky, Apple Cinnamon Roll and a Salmon Piroshky. My favorite was the Apple Cinnamon Roll. Line moves pretty quick. Not a big fan of Oscar's Star. Looks pretty, but toppings are a little too sweet and heavy.

Ever had any food from this place? No? Good, more for me. The piroshkys here are amazing and amazingly cheap. Grab one for just a couple bucks and fill up your stomach with warm happiness for hours.

It's a little bakery near the Pikes place market and the first Starbucks.. Being near such famous places PP holds its own with all kinds of piroshkys ( A Piroshky BTW is a generic Russian word for baked or fried bun with a variety of fillings) The ones we tried were : Smoked Salmon Pâté, Beef and Cheese, Chocolate Hazelnut, Mushroom garlic cheese. Out of all I found the Salmon Pâté freaking tasty!! I finished it by the time we crossed the street and had to convince my Fiancée to go back and get another smoked Salmon one! LoL I would recommend anyone visiting PP to give this a try and don't forget to TIP - its a family run business since 20 years ago - in this economic climate lets make sure we all survive!

super cute and pure mom and pop shop ambiance. i felt right at home being raised in our family bakery. eating these fresh is the way to go! i tried to save one for breakfast the next day but it wasn't the same. stick with the heavenly savory piroshky or huge array of fluffy puff pastries (almond was amazing as well as the cherry white chocolate). the oscar star pastry was very dense and overly sweet for my liking.

I've lived in Seattle for three years now and FINALLY came here for the first time just a few days ago. After walking by it a million times and inhaling the most wonderful scent known to man, I finally decided to pop in since there wasn't a line out the door for once. Unfortunately, it was very underwhelming. It definitely didn't live up to all the hype for me. I actually ended up eating only half of what I ordered. Maybe I just didn't get the right thing.

This bakery is a super tiny shop across the Pike Place Market with many Russian baked treats. As recommended, we got to try the salmon pate, beef and cheese, and beef and onion piroshkies. The beef and cheese was okay... maybe too cheesey for me. I loved loved loved the salmon pate and beef and onion piroshkies!!! Oh my. The salmon pate piroshky was in the shape of a fish, and the taste of the pate was perfect. And of course what other combo is better than beef and onion? It was delicious, especially using puff pastry. I only was able to try the puff pastry as a sweet piroshky, which was good but a little plain. My friend got a apple cinnamon bun which she said was pretty good. I really wish I had the chance to try other piroshkies, especially the vatrushkas, but I guess those are another reason to come back and visit Seattle! Overall, a really delicious bakery and a must visit in Seattle. I do wish prices were lower (savory piroskhies can go for about $4.50) but I would say they are worth it.

I was visiting from out of town and made this my one must-taste. I tried the potato and cheese piroshky and it was completely worth the visit. The pastry is so pillowy and slightly sweet. The store itself was very small and of course there was a line but I understand why.

    (4)
  • Anna C.

I got the salmon and mushroom chicken and they were both alright. Quite pricey for a small pastry and with everything else being offered in pike place market, this joint wouldn't be one I return to again.

    (3)
  • Kathryn N.

Love love love their salmon piroshky. Lived here most my life and everytime I walk by, I still act like a giddy little girl! I've tried the other piroshkys, I like the mushroom one, the beef one, but I have not tried the sweet ones yet. I tend to always get the salmon and one other one and am full. This alone is the worth the drive and parking hassle at Pikes!

    (5)
  • Kara S.

The piroshky I got at Piroshky Piroshky was good, don't get me wrong. I just don't know if it was quite worth the long line. I sampled the beef and onion, taking it to go (as you must, this place is tiny and the space is taken up by the long line of faithful customers and tourists) and I ate it on a bench at the park by Pike Place Market. It tasted good, but was a little too flakey for public consumption. Not only did I attract an embarrassing number of birds, but I got flakes of the crispy dough in my hair and all over my clothes. Next time, I'll find a more private place to devour my Piroshky. Or put my hair in a ponytail. Or both. I think the problem may fall more on the fact that deep down, maybe I'm not a Piroshky kind of girl. Because as far as meat and pastry goes, I'd rather have an english meat pie from Pie over a Piroshky any day of the week.

I don't know if there is anything left to be said that hasn't already been mentioned in the past 400+ reviews. But if you're looking for cheap, crazy good, filling, and constantly fresh food, then you must stop here. The staff were all patient and friendly, and the line moved pretty quickly, and the savory Piroshkies were the road to my heart. I've never had a Piroshky before I came here, but I am officially willing to call Piroshkies the gateway drug to Russian food. Make sure you split one too! That way you can try two Piroshkies! (:

  • Michael M.

Smells amazing, but had a super long line. I waited a good 25 minutes to make my order, and I say an hour wait would still be worth it. This was amazing. I ordered the ham, cheese and spinach piroshky and also the cinnamon apple piroshky. Nothing sounded that special, but it sure tasted like one of the best things I have ever eaten. I could spend a week eating each different kind of piroshky and still be wanting to eat more piroshkys. Don't miss the chance to eat something this amazing by being discouraged by a line. The line is there for a reason.

Before I found out I had Celiac disease....I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this place! Everything is good. It's worth the wait in line (no matter how long it is).

I can't believe this place is bz and people love what ever they call piroshky. I didn't get to try them first time I was at pikes peak, thank God there is a ton of great seafood. When I did eventually tried them I can't believe they actually call them piroshky. It is not even close to what I am used have my grandma bake or fry

    (2)
  • Francesca L.

Line moves pretty quickly and the staff is friendly and doesn't make you feel rushed. I got lucky and ordered a cinnamon apple roll right when they pulled a new batch out of the oven. Bread was crunchy outside and soft inside, apple was sweet, but overall not too sweet. It's definitely a bready pastry. My friend also ordered some kind of beef bun to try something else. Now I wish we got the salmon instead since many people mentioned it in their reviews. The beef was fine, I just wish they would have warmed it up.

In my quest to visit, see and experience all 50 states (and all US territories), Washington was my 50th and last state. Arguably, I might have saved the best for last. Piroshky Piroshky was a recommendation from the flight attendant on my way from New York to Seattle. If I ever see her again, I will give her a hug of heart-felt gratitude (except that I don't remember her name or face; all I remember is the piroshky)! Piroshky Piroshky has often been described as very touristy, and I am willing to assume the risk of being labeled a tourist for loving it so much. I am usually not one to jump on any bandwagon, but I have learned to trust the yelpers who say that the salmon piroshky is the best.

This is an excellent gem in Pike Place Market --- love going here on my lunch break - it's a quick and easy way to have tasty authentic food. I would definitely recommend this place to any who want smiling faces and wonderful food!

  • Elliot K.

I had the sauerkraut, carrot and onion piroshkie. The filling just didn't do it for me. That being said, the service was awesome and there's something about getting a piroshkie with a cup of coffee and being able to enjoy them both while staring out at the bay, which is right across the street.

  • Aubrey A.

got smoked salmon and mushroom&onion piroshkies. it was ok. not particularly impressed by it. not sure what the hype is all about. maybe I got the wrong types? unless I have friends visiting Seattle insisting on trying them, I don't know if I would go back again...

  • Judy H.

first time eating here and everyone enjoyed the meal. We didn't have to wait for a table and service was fast. I was a little "afraid" to try new food, but I admit it was pretty good and not as spicy as I thought it would be.

I love Piroshky Piroshky. The only problem is, almost everyone else does too. In the summertime, I try to stay clear of the market and Piroshky Piroshky because I know it will be overrun by walkers - I mean, tourists - and getting in and getting out is not an option. At least not easily. But in that glorious time between summer and the Christmas shoppers (end of October, early November) when the weather is crappy and cold and no one wants to go outside, the traffic in the middle of the day slows way down. That's when I can head down and grab myself some doughy, starchy, cheesy goodness in a roll. Friends/family coming in from out of town? Great! Another excuse to go here! Even days before Halloween, there was still a line but it was nowhere near the length it is in the summer and it died down in the amount of time it took to stand in it (which was not long). It's a must try if you're in or around the area.

  • Babe M.

The lines are ridiculously long except on Tuesdays and Wednesdays according to a local. Either way I believe the wait is well worth it. You can choose between sweet piroshky's or meat/veggie piroshky's. I had to try one of each. The smoked salmon pate lives up to the hype. If you love apples then go with the apple cinnamon swirl. There are apple slices throughout the pastry.

  • Jennifer L.

Whoa. Hit. The. Spot. Never had anything like it before, so maybe you shouldn't trust me. But, having just arrived in Seattle at 9 am, Piroshky was perfect. No lines on a Friday morning, and it not only filled me up, but kept me warm! I walked by on Saturday around 11 30 am, and there were at least 15 people in line that I could see. The line was wrapped around the corner of the restaurant. If there's no line, definitely check it out, but if there is... maybe not. Really not worth the wait even though I enjoyed my Spinachy Cheese one.

Very few places have the ability to draw me in solely based on smells but this place was successful in doing so. My girlfriend and I went here everyday during our trip to Seattle. You can't go wrong with the Salmon Pate, Beef and Cheese, and Spinach and Mushroom.

    (5)
  • Tiffany T.

Call me 'against the grain' but I just can't seem to get on board with the rest of these outstanding reviews. I've had both sweet and savory items from here, and a few times a year every year over a few years - I admit, I have never once been "wow'd" by these, I'm always expecting this "5 star" feeling in my mouth but always end up feeling like I wish I tried something else or that it wasn't worth the calories...

  • June C.

This place is amazing. It's more memorable than the Starbucks next door. I recommend the borscht and some meat perogi/peroshky for sure. It's what I had. The borscht was just like my grandmother used to make and the perogi were totally authentic, yummy Russian, not Americanized. I will come back here if I'm ever in town again.

A friend was raving about this place after her trip to Seattle a couple years ago. Thought I'd give it a try during my trip last week. It was delicious!! Have a savory one - Beef and cheese. It's definitely just right if you're in need of a snack. My mouth is watering writing this review.

  • T C.

My favorite is the salmon piroshky and beef and onion piroshky. But everything on the menu is good. Let the smell draw you in.. waiting in line is totally worth it! P.S. some of the piroshkys are a little oily, but I still keep coming back for more.

    (4)
  • Omi Y.

Smoked salmon!!!! Delicious .... Melted in my mouth!!! The line is long, but moves quickly! You can also watch them make the pastries on the side which was pretty neat! The line wraps around the glass window which has the menu on it so you can check out the menu as you wait in line.. Delicious!

    (5)
  • Christina C.

So apparently Anthony Bourdain came here, and the mayor of Seattle, and yours truly , so you should obviously come and check this place out! But, really, their piroshky's or mouth-watering good. The salmon pate was salmon with hints of dill and cream cheese. Just enough cream cheese where it's not too creamy, but where the salmon's not too dry. I wish I lived in Seattle just so that I could come here and try all their different piroshkys. Well, I know what I'll be dreaming about tonight :). Tip: the line wraps around, but it's pretty fast, so no need to fret!

I was born and raised in the Seattle area, and like any native: I hate battling the crowds at Pike Place Market. The nexus of Crowd Hell is the Starbucks, followed closely by Piroshky Piroshky. The difference between the two establishments, however, is that a Seattle Native will be jostled, pushed, and delayed for a Piroshky treat any day, whereas the natives know that the same overpriced cup of coffee is available at a much cleaner and less crowded Starbucks less than two blocks away. The sweet and savory treats at Piroshky are second to none. The salmon pate is incredible and rich, and the potato/cheese is to die for. Don't expect to eat inside. This is a place to walk in, grab food, and get out. On a good day: head to the alley behind the building. There are random tables and sitting areas galore.

  • Corliss P.

You really can't go wrong with anything you get here. I have tried beef and cheese, potato and cheese, Oscars star, apple cinnamon roll, cinnamon braid, Moscow roll, beef and onion, and cheddar garlic roll. All are delicious, but beef and cheese is definitely my fave. Definitely check this place out if you're in pike place, regardless of the long lines! It's so worth it!

  • Susanne A.

Super yummy! We had to try this place after seeing so many people mention it on yelp. We tried the apple cinnamon and beef/cheese, which they heated up for us. Both were delicious! The staff was so friendly and it was fun to watch them make the pastries. Definitely will be back next time we visit Seattle!

    (4)
  • Mandie H.

Freshly made as you watch Russian pastries. I had the Marzipan (almond). I think I would prefer the savory ones, but one is so filling I couldn't try another. Long line moves fast and as I mentioned, you're entertained as they make the pastries.

    (5)
  • Drew H.

I cannot believe the line out the door and down the hall even if you see 50 people waiting just get in line it doesn't take that long. We already had breakfast so we ended up getting some sweets including the Allmond and the braided and some other yummy stuff. The food is fresh and the service is fast this is a do not miss. Seriously the line looks long but I'll take you 10 minutes.

  • Phil N.

This place usually has a long line, sells out of a number of their items later in the afternoon and isn't cheap. But, it is fantastic. I've gone here multiple times. I go here each time I visit Seattle. My first time here, they ran out of the salmon pate piroshky, so I settled on the beef and cheese. I wasn't blown away by the beef and cheese and thought while it was good, it wasn't anything special. I'm glad I decided to try it again. The next time I went, they had the salmon pate. It was awesome. Just phenomenal. So, I made sure to go back and get some more before my flight home. I was not disappointed each time. This is pretty much one of the only hyped-up places at Pike's that deserves the hype. Don't let the line intimidate you, it moves quickly.

  • Ellre V.

Forget the original Starbucks (located right next door), this is where I choose to stand in line whenever I visit Pike Place! I was first attracted to this place due to the delicious scent emanating from their bakery. Given the line out the door, I decided to try this popular spot out. One of my best life decisions ever. Warm, handmade (you can literally see the bakers molding the piroshkies in front of you), savory (or sweet), hand held pies? YES PLEASE. There are plenty of options for vegetarians and meat-lovers alike, but I always go for the Mushroom, Onion, and Celery Piroshky (pi-rawsh-kee). One piroshky usually tides me over until my next meal - so filling and oh so satisfying. Piroshky Piroshky is a Seattle must eat!

    (4)
  • Apey M.

I was skeptical on the idea of trying a piroshki. It's been a long time since I have had one. After seeing that they had other options than the usual meat filled piroshki, I finally gave in. I got the potato and mushroom. I brought it home to warm up. The dough was very nice and fluffy. I could eat that all by itself. The filling however, was less impressive. It was like a hash brown (shredded potato) and barely any mushroom. Honestly they were so thin and scarce, that if I were to put all the mushroom together it probably wouldn't even equal to an eighth of a full size mushroom. That was disappointing to me. I give one star for the great dough and one star for the quick and friendly service. Don't think I'll be coming back to fulfill any random piroshki cravings here whenever I visit Seattle again.

Have had several of these at the market. Never disappoints. Cheap big and good. I like the beef and onion best.

  • Matthew T.

Biggest regret of my Seattle trip was when I passed on this the first day because of the long line. Firstly, it's totally worth ANY wait, and secondly, the intimidating line isn't half bad. The process is pick up and pay so it moves quickly. So many to choose from, but I really enjoyed my beef and onion the most. They ran out of Salmon Pate so I couldn't try the signature roll, but that's the one. The Mozzarella one I got instead is just as enjoyable. Dislike: I really wanted the Salmon Pate and they said it was coming up in 5 minutes. Unfortunately, since they have a move it or lose it policy, I could only purchase the ones available and if I wanted the Salmon Pate, I would have to get back into the 20 minute line. Like really, I can't pay for it and get it in 5 minutes? That's ridiculously poor customer service. I didn't want to get back in line to force my party to wait, but again, I have to stress how inconsiderate it is that I have to get in line again to wait on something coming out in 5 minutes. Alas, that pretty huge hit couldn't even get me to deduct a star because the rolls are that damn good.

  • Sook Yinn Y.

Oh my god... their pastry is warm and fresh. I don't eat beef, but I ate their beef pastry. This is the first you should try at pike market.

  • Corey R.

Had the lunch special piroshky/soup with the Salmon Pate and it was delicious, just melted in my mouth. Soup wasn't that good so next time I'll just have the piroshky. Get the Salmon Pate...soooooo good!

    (5)
  • Linnea T.

Every piroshky I've had here is super tasty and I would highly recommend this spot for a small bite to eat as you peruse the Pike Place Market. I took away a couple stars because in the past 2 years this place has made significant gains in popularity, so the lines are usually crazy to get into this cramped little shop and the ordering process can be a little hectic and confusing with masses of people all fighting over the last spinach triangle. Also, there's really no place to sit and eat your piroshky, so it their deliciously-flaky crusts can make for a bit of a mess when you have to eat it on the run.

    (3)
  • David G.

I ordered the cardammon with raisins, honey, and I think walnuts. I thought it was really good, but not quite good enough for 5 stars. They had quite the selection, but unfortunately were out of the salmon one, which is what I really wanted to try. The staff was friendly, and they were pretty quick, despite the very long lines. One big downside is the lack of seating space, which is only a problem if you want to sit down right away and/or are carrying a lot of things. However, I did end up chatting it up with a woman who was in town for a college interview, due to the very tightly squeezed seating arrangements. I recommend going here and then walking somewhere with your piroshkys.

Best stuffed buns in Seattle ;) I like the veggie piroshkies for a quick lunch or snack when I'm downtown. Worth the wait for sure, but I usually try to visit off peak hours.

Guys, I found my happy place in Seattle. I thought it was in the cheese room at Beecher's, but no longer. My mom and I stumbled upon an angel named Kyle, who provided the best service and answered our ignorant questions about Russian food ("ooo, can we try some porsche?!). His kindness and the perfection of the food led us to purchase five baked goods that we now regret eating. I'm removing one star for the food being too good and killing my diet.

Overrated. Most people come here as they have heard the name or seen it on TV. Nothing special here but over priced white bread based food products

Visited this gem on a weekend and luckily only had to wait about 5 mins in the line. There were 4 of us and we all got something different, and all 4 were great! They are all hearty and filling and were great for a grab-and-go meal. Worth the wait!

I never have had a piroshky so I had to try one at this little piroshky shop. They have tons of variety from savory to sweet. I tried the beef and cheddar because I knew I couldn't go wrong with meat and cheese. It was nice and buttery with the right amount of crispiness. The price is a bit high being $5.60ish but worth it if you are a carb lover or have never tried one. It's a pretty tasty breakfast snack or any time of day snack. Next time I'll try the sweeter ones.

So fresh and yummy! I love the mom and pop feel. The guy was nice and even re heated my Apple cinnamon roll.

Had the meat and beef piroshky; warm buttery pastry around a savory ground meat. It was very delicious and followed by an equally tasty rhubarb piroshky.

Reviewing just the beef and cheese... 4 stars! This place is TINY and you're more than likely to encounter long lines no matter the time of day, but this darn beef and cheese "Piroshky" is pretty darn good! If you've never tried one I'd say it's well worth the wait to get your hands on one of these delectable Russian baked goods. It's located just across from Pike Place Market. Let your nose do the guiding and you'll soon find yourself within their confines (especially when they're being baked) and among their goodies.

Piroshkies are a great snack food, and this place has all sorts of flavors (so if you're a bit picky, you're sure to find the flavor combination you'll like). They have savory and sweet. I would recommend trying a few from each category though. The line is usually long, but they move very quickly.

We love this place! Friendly service, delicious piroshkys, and if you haven't tried the borscht, I strongly recommend that you do!

A must have when your down at pike place. My favorite is the cheese and green onion piroshky. It's yummy! I've tried the beef and cheese when it came right out of the oven which was absolutely delicious!! They aren't as good if they've been sitting a while but usually there's enough business to keep them coming fresh out of the oven. Yum I think I want one right now...

APPLE CINNEMON PIROSHKY!!! APPLE CINNEMON PIROSHKY!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE YUM YUM YUM Ahem. So, like I was saying, if you are in the market, whether you have eaten or not, stop by. Grab a Piroshky. If you have not eaten, get a Potatoe and Cheese one for now and an Apple Cinnemon for later. If you have eaten, get a Potatoe and Chesses one for later and an Apple Cinnemon one for now (dessert). If you are full, get a Potatoe and Chesse one for later and a Apple Cinnemon one for later. :)

I frigging love this place. I don't go there enough. Love this traditional Russian treat. They have Piroshky of all different flavors. I like the spinach one... also the salmon & cheese one... and that other one... and can i try that please? =) It's deep-fried. So plan on spending some time in the gym...

Review is from a visit back in the spring. Holy shmoly piroshky! The smoked salmon is a northwest dream! Plan to stand in line for awhile and expect some to be sold out so choose a few you might want to try if your chosen one is not available. Well worth it if you're visiting the Pike place

Ok, seriously...EVERYONE needs to have a pastry from this place! Talk about a party in your mouth! Both the dessert goods and the ones with beef/cheese are TO DIE FOR! Talk about treating yourself! There's always a line, but believe me...worth every second!!!!!! I had the marzipan and wanted more and more and more!!!!!! The lady was making the white chocolate one with cherries, and WOWZA! I had a bite and definitely amazing. I will go back to this place more than once every time I'm in Seattle.

Once you get within a few feet of the doors you will start to smell it. That amazing fresh baked Piroshky smell that I swear they pipe outside just to lure people in. I love that smell. I always get the same thing - the cheese and onion piroshky. Nothing like it to cure a hangover, the soft dough and cheese soak up any remnants of alcohol in my tummy. I've been tempted to try others but I always go back to the cheese.

~2400 reviews and 4.5 stars!?!?! Had to try it. Girlfriends and I decided to eat this as our last breakfast in Seattle. One of the girls and I ordered the 3 best sellers to share: meat&cheese, smoked salmon pate, and apple cinnamon. Total for three out to be 16.18. Meat and cheese 4 stars It was delicious meaty and cheesy. Could have been warmer but outer bread was flaky buttery and the filling was delicious and flavorful. Smoked salmon pate 5 stars I had this after I finished my half of the meat and cheese and this is my absolute favorite. The filling was smoked salmon pate that definitely had cream cheese in it. And it was heavenly. Apple cinnamon 3 stars I wasn't too impressed with this at all. It was good but I don't think I would order this again. I highly recommend trying any of the items mentioned above and be the judge!

so thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssss is what a real piroshky tastes like! crispy phyllo pastries filled to the brim with meats and cheeses and veggies. There was a line but it took us maybe 10 minutes to get to the front. They kept running out of the beef and cheese so I got the beef and onion and the 2nd time I got the chicken and rice. Both were very flavorful and warm and took me back to Mother Russia. I've had "Piroshky"''s at the corner store near Church all my life, so that's what I came in expecting. So glad I was wrong!

Good solid food, served fast and inexpensive. I love hearing the servers' accents too, authentic Russian I do believe. I do look around for James Bond but haven't found him yet.

This was my very first time at a Russian bakery even though I've actually been to Russia. Strange, I know. I wasn't quite sure what to expect from Piroshky Piroshky because I had no idea what it was. All I knew was that there was a crazy line out the door and whatever they were baking smelled absolutely divine. That smell itself was enough to keep me in line. While you're waiting, you get to see how the bread is made so that was a lot of fun to watch. After debating on what to get, I settled on their best seller which turned out to be the Beef and Cheese. I got super lucky and snagged one right as it came out of the oven piping hot. It's a relatively large piece of pastry and one that could easily make a snack if shared by two. I could see how it could actually be a meal too. The beef and cheese piroshky was really tasty. One bite into it and I didn't want to share. It was hot, cheesy, and the beef was seasoned just right. It was like eating comfort food even though I've never had a piroshky before. It tasted of something familiar and I could understand instantly why there was such a long line in front of this small shop. I didn't get a chance to try their sweeter piroshkies because there's just too many things to eat at Pike Market but I'm so glad that I saved some stomach space for this delectable Russian pastry. Yum. 4/5

We almost did not try this place due to its long lines but when in Seattle!! We went our last day and against the will of our bloated tummies, we bought 2 pastries each. I can't recall what we got, I believe one was the salmon piroshky and the other was cinnamon and citrus (you cannot walk out of this place not drooling over that delicious, welcoming, warming, sensual, cinnamon aroma. You. Can. Not.) We took a bite and though both were extremely tasty, we could not fathom another bite. So we left it in our back packs til later and long story short missed our flight that night (8 hours after our pastry purchase). We had the last flight and nothing would be available til morning and all the stores were closed or closing and we were still full from dinner. But 3-4 hours passed and *insert strings of swear words* we were friggin starved. But have no fear, Piroshky is here! We pulled out our pastries (how they got pass TSA idk but thank Dear Lord). After almost 12 hours of sitting in our backpacks, the pastries were still delicious as the first bite and we regret not hoarding more pastries in their other various flavors. Do yourselves a sinful favor and get a coupe of these bad boys. They're great cold and orgasmic when fresh out of the oven PS the line does move fast so don't sweat the line!

Visitors to Pike Place shouldn't miss this place. Don't let the line outside frighten you -- it moves quickly. It's somewhat chaotic inside the tiny shop, but service is helpful and friendly. And the piroshki and other confections are wildly imaginative and delicious. A true original.

This place is awesome! So glad got to try this with my boyfriend when we came to Seattle for vacation this winter. It's right in front of Pike Place Market, and you can just smell the pastry deliciousness invading your nostrils as you walk by the outside of their bakery. The line is quite intimidating at first, especially because it goes around the corner. But the wait is so worth it. We got the Beef and Cheese the first time and it was warm, savory, soft pastry goodness as we bit into the soft bun. Tasted so good and comforting in the cold Seattle weather. We went back a second time and decided to get a sweet pastry. Got the Moscow which had Bavarian cream and powdered sugar, was crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle. Pretty good, not too sweet. But I think I preferred the savory beef and cheese one. Wish we could've tried more flavors. This place is a must if you're ever in the area. I know I'll be back if I'm ever in Seattle again.

I love the pirochky. My favorite part about the bread is the filling. They sure are not stingy about the filling. The bread is filled with the filling and less bread. They are constantly baking, so it is always fresh. The staffs are friendly. The only thing is that the line is usually long with the tourist, but it is worth the wait. I usually go for the sauerkraut cabbage and onion pirochky or potato and mushroom for a breakfast. Then Moscow roll if I am craving sweets .

I have nothing too bad to say about this place but I guess this is one of those things I just don't get. Luckily when I was there, the line was maybe five people deep and me and the wife managed to get two piroshkies, a ham and cheese and a potato and cheese, in less than 10 minutes. Soft, warm and tasty but nothing that would blow my brains out. I come from Texas, the land of kolaches, which I suppose are the Czech version of piroshkies, or vice versa. So I've had my fill of meat and cheese filled pastry bread and I thought they were just OK. The wife thought even less of them than I did. Had I waited anywhere close to what other reviewers have had to, then I would've been mightily disappointed. So It is on my list of places to go if there is no line. And if there is, you can skip it and find something better to nibble on in the market area.

There was a small line, but it moved vey quickly. We had the Salmon Pate, and it was excellent. The portions were large, and despite its insane popularity, I don't get even the slightest hint of price gouging. I highly recommend this place.

Long long long line. Did I say long long long line. Well worth the wait. Had some great little items and really enjoyed the cheese and beef along with the salmon. Staff were friendly and organized in this little space. Thoroughly enjoyed the food. Look forward to trying something else.

Everyone raves about the salmon pate but I'm a bigger fan of the beef and cheese! YUMZ. My cousin and I split up the work to wait in line at this place and the little French bakery next door. He definitely waited longer than me. 30 minutes or so around 11am on a Monday. We got the Beef and Cheese, Potato and Mushroom and Salmon Pate. We were definitely really lucky to get that pate and it was tasty but it didn't blow my mind like the beef and cheese did!!! I can't say anything about the potato one cuz I didn't eat it but I think they liked it!

Yum! I cannot turn down baked goods! This Russian treat didn't disappoint either. During my first trip to Seattle, I knew I had to add this stop of food places to try at Pike Market. After stopping at Ellenos for freshly made Greek Yogurt, and trying the cheese at Beecher's, I waited in line for some freshly made Piroshky. In lieu of trying their famous salmon, we ordered the spinach and mushroom piroshky and an apple cinnamon roll. Wish we ordered more to take home because they were so good. Since we weren't hungry at the time, we actually ate them when we got back to the hotel and they were still good. Can't wait to go back to Seattle and eat some more freshly baked goods for Piroshky Piroshky.

OMG. OMG. OMG. The smoked salmon pâté piroshky is hands down the BEST thing I have ever eaten! The bread is super soft, and the smoked salmon is super savory. Holy crap. It is so good. Please get it, you will not be disappointed! Apparently it's shaped like a fish? Whoops, I was too busy gobbling it down to notice that... The other piroshkies are meh, but you NEED to give the smoked salmon one a try!

On our short 4 days trip to Seattle.. I wished I tried this place sooner. why why why did we wait to come here on our last day? Don't make the same mistake, come here first and you will want to stop by everyday! Just looking at these picture makes my mouth water. I never really cared about Russian pastry nor do I know much about it but if you check out the menu and just stand there and smell it, you will definitely want some. The line is long, it wraps around the tiny store but don't be intimidated, it's pretty fast and by the time you get to the front you just want to get everything. Unfortunately we grabbed these pastry after getting a quart sized cup from pike's chowder so there wasn't much room left in our stomach. I would really like to try one of each but we only picked up the famous smoked salmon pate and cinnamon cardamon braids (smell of cinnamon fills the area). In hind site, I wish I grabbed one of those apple cinnamon and chocolate cream hazelnut roll too. one sweet and one savory and a girl is happy. Salmon: full of flavor. the paste isn't heavy and was very generous with the pate. I think it was a good pate to bread ratio. Cinnamon: not as much cinnamon as I hoped for but oh it's so fluffy and sweet and I really loved it. We didn't get to eat this until the end of the day when we found out we missed our flight and had to stay for the night. It was not only comfort food but it was still delicious! Thank you for saving our night. It was so good, I can only imagine how it was fresh. I definitely will make a stop here next time I'm in town.

"Russian Bakery" never really interested me until I heard about Piroshky Piroshky. My girls and I were vacationing in Seattle and this was definitely one of the highest recommended food spots from friends. We were very anxious to try the Salmon pate since so many other reviewers recommended it. Unfortunately, after waiting almost 10 minutes in line, they had run out and said it was about a 15 minute wait, but you couldn't standby and wait for it. You needed to get in line AGAIN and cross your fingers that they'd have some available by the time it was your time to order again. My girlfriend had to get in line 3 times just to finally get one! For something in such high demand, they only make a small batch, put them out, watch it disappear since almost everyone in line wants to order it, and then wait another 15 minutes for the next small batch. This was the only complaint I had about this bakery. But when we finally did get our hands on the salmon pate, it was heaven! You wouldn't think salmon would go well in a pastry, but this was truly delicious. And it even looks like a fish! We also ordered the beef and cheese and apple cinnamon roll. Both were yummy too but not as yummy as the salmon. I'd definitely try to come back next time to try other things, but will def try to grab a salmon pate again.

Piroshky piroshky where for art thou? Unfortunately, the best ones I've had are here in Seattle. And how can you turn a place down with such a fun name and billows of baked goodness aromas wafting from the store front. I could also stay there for hours, actually maybe minutes, watching them make the piroshkys. Piroshkys are a carb lovers dream. I can never turn anything down that is baked in a flaky buttery crust. My favorite are the mushroom and the beef and cheese. I have never tried the sweet ones but my brother swears they are just as delectable. They also made great gifts for my friends back home because your just pop it in the oven and they're as good as they were fresh! There is usually a line but it moves fast and it's worth it!

Not really my cup of tea... I got the salmon pate apparently their "best seller", while different it wasn't OMG I had to have another one. Maybe I need to try other things in the bakery before making a final judgement...

One of my favorite places to visit when in downtown Seattle. Whenever my family came to visit they would insist on stopping to pick up some piroshky piroshky. Although the sweet ones smell delicious, we usually prefer the savory pies. Our go to's are the the smoked salmon, cheddar/garlic and potato/cheese ones. They are always delicious, leave you pretty full and especially tasty when walking around pike place market on a cool and wet day. Although there are almost always long lines, it is totally worth the wait and the lines move pretty quickly.

  • Jackson Y.

Ah Piroshky Piroshky, my fellow JY has hyped you up way too much. And it looked promising as the lines were out the door! I think my yelp friend Alex K said it best, at the end of the day, it's just a meat pie. And that's pretty much sums it up for me. Totally over hyped, the meat pie isn't isn't all that. Personally thought the potato and cheese one was better. Luckily the line moved moderately quick. But the price for that pie is a little ridiculous $4-$5 each! It's not like it's super healthy or anything, I mean seriously, I'd rather eat a burger for $5 and fill myself up. Maybe the sweet ones are better. I'll definitely have to give it a try when I revisit. I mean the place is not bad. The Piroshkys were better when it was warm. I really wish they had a big sign with a menu outside, so I don't feel like I'm pressured to order something quickly when I'm at the ordering station. Ended up just ordering whatever was recommended by the person taking orders.

I didn't even know what a piroshky was before this trip. Right across from the Public Market by Starbucks #1. We stayed at the Inn and this was nearest. And it was highly rated, so we ventured out to discover the piroshky. It is an empanada, no its a pasty, no, a hot pocket....no none of these. We tried a bunch. I liked the beef and cheese. My friend liked the apple/berry? fruit tart. The texture is awesome, the employees were rushed but fine with explaining everything. And they were only a few dollars each. A pocket of love for so little.

The line is long, but it moves pretty quickly, so don't get discouraged if you see it winding around. I ordered the apple cinnamon, and the future hubs ordered some chocolate one and the beef and onion. The apple and beef and onion were fantastic. Everything was fresh and handmade. I'd be there every week if I lived there. I wish I had tried more flavors.

  • Ann S.

The lines are just ridiculous and the breads are alright.. I expected better tasting but I guess not lol I tried the cream n cherrie (I think) and Choco piroshky and a marzipan .. Marzipan was the best taste for me. It was so crowded and I couldn't look at the other breads..

If this review was based on the scent emanating from this tiny bakery alone, it'd be 5 stars. As it is, the pastries are 3.5 star, maybe 3.75 star quality but the whole experience is much more because it all looks and smells THAT GOOD. Russian pasty is NOT up to the level of French stuff but a little, 'stick-to-your-ribs' Russian rustic is such a treat on occasion. Go for the savory over the sweet, IMHO ;-)

This number of stars isn't for the service, location, or tastiness of the product. All of those things are brilliant. This number of stars is because of the inability to state on the menu that the smoked salmon pate piroshky filling is half cream cheese. With the amount of people with dairy allergies now, you would think. I understand the high cost of smoked salmon, but if they made the other half of it onions or something instead of cream cheese, I'd raise this to a five. Or at least, they could state what the filling actually consists of on the menu.

I visited Seattle this past weekend and came to PP after reading other Yelp reviews. I didn't find it as tasty as others, so maybe I ordered the wrong things. I wanted something savory and went for the beef and onion piroshky. The pastry has a distinct taste that kinda turned me off, and then the meat mixture also had a distinct taste that didn't sit well with my tastebuds. My partner ordered a sausage piroshky and commented on the strange pastry taste as well. Next time I will try the sweet ones and bypass the savory. They look so good -- I'm chalking up my first attempt to ordering the wrong things :-)

The peeps who work here are always personable and friendly.. I like all the Piroshky especially the Potato Onion Cheese Piroshky.. there is also a cheese stick that is pretty cheap and the perfect snicksnack for me while wondering healthier options (like veggies) at the market!

The sweet and the savory piroshkies are equally delicious - I feel I can safely assume that anything I order will be a tasty treat!! It is definitely worth the wait (there is almost always a long line, which is another indication of how great this place is)!

So many reviews for this place, I must check it out. Russian bakery in Seattle, foreals! I liked it a lot. Fresh, flavorful, delicious. There was a pretty long line that I had to wait in to just get some baked good. I had to lower a star since I do think it is a bit on the pricier side but I guess you do get what you pay for. I ordered the apple cinnamon bun and the potato with cheese one. The potato and cheese bun had good flavor and it was super soft, very very fresh for sure. The apple cinnamon one was alright. I thought it would have more of a cinnamon flavor to it but it was pretty bland. The apples in it though were really crisp and fresh. Over all fresh ingredients, fresh baked pastries and a must try. Bare with the line, it will be worth it.

I didn't like a lot of the pastries here. I only liked the cinnamon apple circle one. I didn't find many of them that great tasting. The mushroom potato was the other one I liked. I think it's kinda pricy and the wait was super long. Came here later in the afternoon while it was raining to avoid the wait, and the line died down. Not sure what the rave is all about. I definitely had better pastry.

  • Vencci H.

YUMMMMMY. Salmon Pate was DELICIOUS! Unlike any other pastry I've tried and had, the salmon pate here has a salmon filling that had a very creamy texture wrapped in a soft and buttery bread pastry with steam seeping out from the perfect combination after each bite...literally--get in my mouth, like hurry. The beef and cheese one is also very good, a flakey pastry filled with yellow cheese and ground beef--baked to a soft and steamy finish-- but in my opinion the Salmon is definitely better although I am not a salmon fan. Ordered a apple roll and did not get to eat it unfortunately because I forgot about it in my back pack and the next day it was too hard, so sad.

Right after lining up and devouring some steamy hot chowder at Pike's Place - my boyfriend and I came here - only to line up again for another 15- 20 minutes or so for some fresh baked Russian pastries. Now the line was lonnnnnng for this one but again, amazing it moved through pretty quickly. Even though I was half full of crab sandwich and chowder - the smell of the bakery was tantalizing and actually made me a little hungry again. Since it was just the two of us and limited tummy room - we each only got one type of pastry. I opted for a savory one - the Salmon Pate and my boyfriend went for something more "Russian" sounding - the Moscow pastry...which was sweet. The bread was unbelievably buttery and soft - the smell of it was true to the taste of it - when I was in line, the buttery scent of the baking pastries just fills your nostrils and made me drooled a little. I wish I could have more thinking about it now. The Moscow pastry was crunchy on the outside but the sweet cream filling made it soft on the inside...it really was heavenly. This would be a must try - and don't let the long line deter you from trying it - it really wasn't that bad of a wait - they move pretty quickly sine they have a good number of staff - even though it was a relatively small place.

oh. my. goodness. carbs galore and totally worth it! I've always heard of Piroshky's since it's in Pike Place but wasn't really motivated to try it out until my friend from CA came to visit. We waited in long long line but it moves pretty quickly since it's a grab-and-go type of place. Between the 3 of us who were there, we got the Moscow Roll, Cheese & Garlic, Chocolate & Hazlenut and Apple. We inhaled it and all agreed that the Cheese & Garlic was the best. Everything was warm and fresh out of the oven. I'm only a trolley ride away from this place- too dangerous!!

I can never decide what I want whenever I visit Piroshky Piroshky because I want everything! On weekends the place can get super busy, and they tend to run out a lot of things. You can wait until they bake more, or you can order something else. My favorite items from here are: Bavarian Sausage Piroshky Chicken, Mushroom, and Rice Piroshky Smoked salmon pate Beef & Onion All of the items mentioned above are really good, and I highly recommend them. Some of their items are sized to be shared, and they are cheap! Most of their items are less than $5.00.

Got the beef and cheese piroshki and the soup - cheap lunch special. It was perfect bc the meat and cheese was pretty heavy and the soup was light, vinegary, and nice and hot. This reminds me of the savory selections at the Asian bakery but it really is a completely different flavor profile. It was seriously cold out that day (low teens?!), but the piroshki and soup really hit the spot.

We are here from the Bay Area, and this is for sure our favorite bakery! Try the ham cheese and spinach one! You won't regret it!

walked by and found this place with a line out the door! I'm not a Piroshky expert, but these were pretty good Piroshky . they make them hella fresh on site. as I was waiting in line I saw the nice Russian lady making the mushroom and potato Piroshky. they looked pretty good raw too. I ordered a few to different ones to try out. I got a beef and cheese, potato and cheese and onion, and a sweet apple one. again these were hella fresh!! i tried the potato and onion one first and it was warm and chewy and just amazing. yum yum. the beef and cheese was also a winner. the apple one was ok, it wasn't my favorite. I had that one last, so it was cold when i ate it, and the flavor was very bland. but maybe that's just me. these people making these Piroshky obviously know what they are doing.

While strolling the Pike Place Market, we happened upon this place after dinner down the street. It was late in the day on a Sunday and we decided to get a an apple cinnamon roll. What a great decision...it was everything you want in a cinnamon roll, slight sweetness, nice presentation, flaky, chewy and there were whole apple slices throughout the roll. Yumm...this would definitely be one of my stops on a return trip to Seattle.

Every time we are in Seattle we always get a Piroshky! It can seem overrated if you don't enjoy the food or waiting in line... but Piroshky is more of a fun tradition with great food! I really enjoy the onion and cheese roll and the apple cinnamon roll. We have been several times and have had no wait, while other times you can wait 30 min. They have always been consistent with their food so try something new and enjoy!

It tastes as good as it smells. Worth the wait... though try to find a time when the wait is shorter.

One of my favorite places in Pikes place market which i try to visit most times when travelling to Seattle. I have tried more than a couple of their piroshkies and liked their Cheddar Cheese and Garlic Roll & the Spinach, Egg & Cheese Roll. I also love their sweet one - Cinnamon Cardamom Braid. These piroshkies are quite filling and you cannot eat more than 1 or 2.

So, I wasn't expecting to visit Piroshky Piroshky but the long line of people convinced me it was worth a stop. It helped that a patron was talking about how it was the best thing he's had in quite a while - so obviously, I was convinced. They make it fresh here and due to the crowds, you can expect everything's delicious and warm and hasn't been sitting out too long. I tried the spinach, egg and cheese Piroshky which was way more filling than I thought it would be. I wrongly thought that it would be lighter and a good addition to the tons of other food I've eaten, but it's a hearty meal for $5. I also ordered the moscow roll, which also is quite a heavy pastry but is perfectly crisp and hits the spot! Definitely stop by if you're in the area to see what this place is about. The line moves fast so don't be intimated by that. I know I'll be back to try the salmon pate!

As Tony the Tiger would say... "Theeeeyyyy'rrreeee Grrreeeaaaatttt!!!" But let's be honest.. if Tony did every make it to Piroshky Piroshky he'd probably say.. "OhhEmmEffingGEEE!! These are badass!" Well atleast in my head that's what Tony would say.

Good quick bite in a rather touristy area. Try to go not too late, but try to avoid the lines that may end up out into the street. Worth a try, I enjoyed some of their, I'd call pastries both savory and sweet. Try multiple ones, you're bound to find a taste you'll like. The gents working behind the counter are genuine and sociable as well!

Line can get extremely long, but moves fast! Definitely worth the wait! Salmon pate and the Beef thing!

Soooooooo good!! My favorite is the Smoked Salmon with cream cheese. The line can be super long on weekends but you definitely want to wait in that line atleast once! The prices are not bad and its cheap that you can grab a couple to go for later without feeling too guilty. A must go spot if you visit the Pike Place Market in Seattle

I had the egg, cheese, and spinach piroshky. It was delicious! I believe it cost about $5.50. It was a good portion size. I deducted a star because it was still early when I went and they were already out of some choices. Must try!

We come to this place every time we visit Seattle. I have tried almost everything they serve, and I can't find anything that i don't like.

I have been coming here for years now and I don't know how I have missed this review. Anywho, we were in town a couple days ago and it looks like everyone in the world has found out about this deliciousness because the line was sooooo long. I told my husband that it is completely worth the wait and he agreed when he took a huge bite into his steaming hot piroshky and traveled into food heaven. LOVE IT HERE!

YES! Great selection and super helpful staff. Everything is made daily and fresh. We ordered the famous salmon pate along with several others but this was the best. The mushroom onion bun is great.

If Piroshky's are your thing you'll want to stop by here. They aren't really my thing. I got a savory piroshky and it was pretty good. After I ate it I realized I don't really like piroshky's.

Tourist or not, you definitely should give a try! The salmon bread is so good and fulfilling. When it has just came out from the convection, it is super good! The tail part is crispy, the body part is soft in the mouth. The salmon inside melt in your mouth. Perfect indulgence. One of the most popular and most delicious goodies in Seattle!

This was one happy accident! Being the insanely food crazy kid that I am, I was lured here by an AMAZING aroma. Walking through Pike Place Market one day found me STARVING. Those feelings were only intensified when I smelled something deelish in the air. I followed my nose to Piroshky Pirokshky and feel in love. My favorite is the bacon and cheese one. I pretty much eat that all the time. So if you are looking for a cheap eat, that is quite delightful and filling, you need to check this place out!! Trust me, your inner food crazy kid will be thankful!

Love this place! As a native, I go to the Market quite often and this is almost always a stop. First preference are the raisin poppy seed rolls! So good thy make you want to slap yer mama! Or just go back and get another one! I'm impressed at their line-management system. No matter how many people are standing in line, it always seems to move fast and efficiently. And the smells...........epic!

If you can pass by this modest-looking shop without being tempted by the divine aroma of their baked delights, then you ought to just quit Yelp right now. Because Yelp was made for neighborhood gems like this one. Even though I just had lunch, I could not resist trying their best-selling Beef and Cheese Piroshky. It was still warm from the oven, so I ended up devouring it right there on the sidewalk -- which is, in my opinion, the proper time and place to eat it. It was delicious! The bread was soft and fresh, and the steaming hot ground beef and cheese filling was tender and moist. The filling actually tasted a bit like Korean bulgolgi, but less sweet. Now who can say that that's a bad thing?

Why do i crave you so!! :D I love me some Piroshky! This place always has my favorite flavors! This location is a bit of a wait to get it at this location, but is worth the wait any day!
