Pho Cyclo is one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. Their "Bun" (aka the perfect noodle salad bowl) selection is impressive and the salad is always fresh, green, crisp and to-die-for. It's become my comfort food during the warmer summer months. Try their shrimp cake - probably the best I've had. The Cons: Although I'm a pho-lover at heart, I think their pho is just "ok". The broth is a bit too greasy for my tastes (especially the chicken). Service is a hit-and-miss as it completely depends on your server.

Atmosphere...okay Pho...tasty Veggie stuff...thank goodness I love the pho, down with the pho, but if I don't know where the meat is coming from, I go veg, and most of the time at pho places this has been problematic...veg stuff sucks. No vegetables and no flavor, Pho Cyclo brought the goods. Super great flavor and plenty of veggies in the veggie dishes. The service was nice and the tea fabulous. We will return again on a day that demands cozy and flavorful food.

One of the better pho places in Seattle. Definately the best in Capitol Hill. Don't let the Thanh Brothers shills fool you: the pho at Pho Cyclo is a lot better. And take it from me, I'm Vietnamese. Also, the benefit of Pho Cyclo over Thanh Brothers down the street is that Pho Cyclo has a bigger menu. Thanh Brothers only has pho (and those little creampuffs you can buy at Costco), and yet they can't seem to get it right (it doesn't have enough nuoc mam, the salty fish sauce that is a required ingredient in the broth). Pho Cyclo gets it much better. The meat quality in the pho is about the same, though. But the broth is what makes pho, and the broth at Pho Cyclo is far better. It's still not as good as my mom's, of course, but if I need a quick bowl of pho it is the place to go. Also try the Bun Thit Nuong if you want something other than pho. It's a bed of lettuce, cucumber, carrots, beansprouts, and cilantro, with some rice noodles on top, and then some bbq'd pork skewers on top of that. You pour some diluted and sugar added nuoc mam on top, mix it all up, and eat. It's cold, so much better on hot days. Pho Cyclo is also CHEAP, which is really intrinsic to good Vietnamese food. I haven't had a bad experience there. Oh, and for those asking where your check is, go pay up at the counter. It's actually extremely typical in Vietnamese places to do that vs paying at the table.

I had # 17 today, rice noodels w/ pork and shrimp oooohhhhh so good!

Spring rolls are fantastic and the soup's tasty with good cuts of meat (relatively speaking), but it drives me nuts that the soup comes out lukewarm every time I go. The Pho Cyclo downtown seems much better.

Lol. It is so true. One bad experince and you just gotta tell everyone, a great experince and if you can find the time hmmm maybe just maybe you can yelp about it. When it comes to the pho it's not the greatest but it's kitchenally acceptable. Oh i wasn't seated on time, the water wasn't refilled, they didn't smile when i walked in, blah blah blah. People it's Viet food your lucky if you get a hi.

I really liked the pho here. My standard is the the soup with all the kinds of beef and the tendon. So that is what I ordered. And I liked it a lot. The broth was a little sweeter, and had some more interesting seasoning, compared to what I was used to in SF bay area. But I really liked it a lot. Like I said above. The spring rolls were good as well, very fresh tasting, with a good ration of mint to other green stuff, so not too bitter. Good peanut sauce, not just peanut butter. I will definitely be back next time I have a craving for pho. It fits the weather well here.

I came here with with a girl friends just to pop in and get some Pho really quick on a Sunday night. When we walked in we looked around and saw a lot of people sitting alone reading books and news papers, to us this was a great sign because it means that they were regulars, and they come here often enough that they come alone. We each got a bowl of Pho, which was huge, and also ordered some bubble tea to go with it. Both were excellent! She got the tofu Pho and I got the beef Pho. We had both had our fair share of Pho so we knew what to expect, but when they brought out our food, we were delighted to see all the different add ins they brought in. They brought the normal stuff, but also a bunch of different sauces and things to add in that I had never been offered before at other Pho places. And the bowls were huge!!! I think I barely finished half, as did she. The tea was great too. Ever since we had this Pho, every time we go to another Pho place we are always saying that it was never as good as the one in Seattle.

I stopped in at Pho Cyclo with Wan L. for a quick lunch on Sunday. The place was decently packed, but there was no wait for a table. The decor is interesting with murals on the walls, one with embedded fiber optics that change color subtly. I had the vermicelli with pork and egg rolls, which was quite tasty. And the red hot sauce was not watered down, which is definitely one of my biggest qualms with Vietnamese restaurants. The only downside here was the service. They were slow to take our order and slow to bring the bill.

I'm not big on the pho because of the presence of MSG and Pho 900 does it better without MSG. I do however love the $3 sandwiches you can only buy to go. My favorite comes with tofu, cilantro, jalapenos, pickled radish and sauce. Cheap and delicious.

    (3)
  • Diane P.

Pho Cyclo is my favorite pho. I love it. If I'm on broadway - I have to stop by. The one sodo is closed at odd times so I haven't been there. Note they do use MSG - I asked. They said yes.

I'm kind of a pho fiend. Been eating the Vietnamese specialty since I was a kid and those were the days when a $4 meal was burning a hole in your pocket. As such, I've had a lot of pho in my day. Pho Cyclo is one of my favorite pho restaurants in Seattle. They do a great job with their pho by blending a tasty broth with fresh, core vegetables like basil, jalapenos, and sprouts. They don't overcook the meat, as it still has a little pink to it, which makes it more tender. The restaurant layout is open, with high ceilings and a walled mural of a downtown scene you might see in Saigon. It's also very clean. This is not typical of most Asian restaurants. Sorry, but it's true. Btw, look for the small lights on the muraled wall.

the pho is very average here, but we continue to return bc its closeby. i always order the pho tai, but never eat the beef. the slices of meat are too thick, it feels like im eating a steak. some people would love this, but i prefer my pho meat thinner. i also had the vermicelli noodles here- that was delicious; i think id order that more often. as for the service? it kind of sucks. i had to repeatedly ask the waitress for the same things over and over again. i dont think they forgot, i just dont think it registered. maybe they dont understand what i asked for?

    (3)
  • Misty T.

So far, this is the best Pho I've managed to find in this poor pho-deprived state. The broth was tasty, a plate of sprouts/basil/lime appeared on the table and the noodles were not the nasty gummy noodles that I've had to endure at every other pho place.

  • Jenny J.

I used to like this place, largely because the service and cleanliness was superior to its competitor a little ways up Broadway that I used to go to. Lately however, the service is so bad and the food so mediocre that they've lost my business. I'm not interested in spending money at a restaurant in which I feel like I'm inconveniencing this wait staff with my desire to purchase their product. There is plenty of Vietnamese food in this town, I'm taking my business to a place with better service.

  • Jean K.

The first time I went here I thought this place was awesome. The decor is great, though it is a little chilly inside (I am a girl, what can I say). Just yesterday I went again and decided not to get the namesake but instead get the noodle bowl with barbequed pork. Tasted fine, but it wasn't what I really wanted on a Monday night, which was the Green Leaf (they were closed). Once you have that, nothing will compare.

This is a reliable place for lunch. We usually order the chicken fresh rolls (two big ones for $3.50) and two small bowls of pho ($6.25) each. With tax and tip, this big lunch comes to about $20. The staff is efficient and pleasant. When you sit down, one of them shows up with menus and soon after water, tea, spoon, chopsticks, and napkin. Food service is prompt. We live in the neighborhood, and though there are more highly acclaimed Vietnamese restaurants in the city, we find no need to walk any farther than Pho Cyclo when we have a hankering for this cuisine.

Two points of interest at Pho Cyclo! Number one: They sell bahn mi and they're pretty delicious. I've only had the tofu option but the baguettes are always fresh and the vegetables crisp. I believe they're only available for take-out but I don't think any of us hit up this spot for the ambiance. Number two: The vegetarian spring rolls taste JUST LIKE pho chay from Than Bros down the street. It's uncanny. And by "uncanny," I mean "delicious."

    (4)
  • Claire T.

Tasty, tasty pho. It's not as cheap as Than Brothers, and there's no free cream puff, but my old employer who really is Vietnamese says that it's the best Vietnamese food in Seattle. And she would know. The first avenue location is also good. I've been to both of them a couple times.

The food was pretty good, service not too bad. Pho Bac on 7th is better.

  • Ivan M.

whoa! what happened here? i've been to this pho cyclo and the one on first down in sodo several times before and i've always enjoyed the tasty broth and, umm, beefy beef but what happened to their "large"? it's like a small at than brothers! wtf!? i know it's expensive for rent up on broadway but charge $0.75 more or something. don't get all skimpy with my large pho, tasty as it was. i had the spring rolls again today and they were perfect. 3 stars cause you're tasty. otherwise it'd be only 2 stars. playin' with my pho is like playin' with my emotions! DU MA!

Solid pho. Love the mural. Good coffee.

  • Jon G.

They're improving. There's reasonably priced beer now and the front wall is wide open for spring and summer! The food is very consistent and they cater well to vegetarians.

  • Sambucus R.

Hey this place is pretty good. It was the first place I ever enjoyed pho. Mostly I just wonder why people enjoy a bowl full of salty water and vegetables, but a friend convinced me to give it another try. I must have been in just the right mood, or maybe the pho was just a squidge better than usual, but I actually enjoyed it. Maybe next time I'll have noodles or something.

  • Sean F.

I was here last Friday with a few friends, and really dug it. I can't claim to be a Viet food expert but from my experience the Pho was quite tasty. Service was also quick on the getting the food side, but took longer than usual when we went to cash out. That was the only negative mark on an otherwise quite positive experience! I would definitely come back here again :)

  • Jesse P.

this review is the same for both locations the pho here is different than anywhere else i've been in seattle. I am a fan of the ginger sauce they give you on the side, it makes for a unique pho experience. it's almost like a completely different soup. i am used to killing a large bowl wherever i go. for some reason i feel much more full when i am done here, with a strange pain in my chest. but it doesn't stop me from coming back. the eggrolls are delicious too. this is my second choice when it comes to pho in seattle pho so 1 being my first. yum

I'm only rating the banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches), and I've only gotten them to go, so I don't know what sit down service is like. But the barbecued pork banh mi rocks - good bread, luscious chunks of pork offset by a creamy sauce and rockin' hot peppers. Banh mi are only available to go, and be prepared for at least a 10 minute wait. The sandwiches are about $3.25, which makes them pricier than ones you'd find in the International District, but they are better quality. They also make a good lunch if you're generally a light eater, as I am. Get two if you're starving.

  • Nathan W.

Solid, consistent pho and pleasant atmosphere. Seems superficial but I really get a kick out of the giant life-sized mural.

    (4)
  • Emily C.

This is my favorite pho place on Capitol Hill. I think their broth is better (I don't understand people who order chicken pho) and the meat and toppings are pretty good. I've been ordering the beef broth with vegetables lately and the big hunks of broccoli and tofu always make me feel good about myself.

    (5)
  • Greta D.

My boyfriend and I used to go there a lot, until he got sick. In all honesty, he had the noodles with the "meat variety" - that's not what it's called on the menu but it had beef, pork, meatballs, etc. and he was pretty sick afterwards. I stick to the pho and keep it simple.

    (4)
  • David N.

By Far 5 STARS. This place takes the Pho experience to the next level. The ambience is great, the Mural gives a upbeat dining experience. Where I feel this place separates itself is the broth. Where at a Than Brothers its water down and msged. Besides eating at moms, I go here for my pho.

  • Kidron C.

My girlfriend loves this place. I would probably love it even more, too, if I knew how to use chopsticks and didn't have to feel stupid everytime I ask for a fork. I almost have to whisper it now.. and look over my shoulder, making sure no one hears me. Born an awkward child, chopsticks is one thing I could never quite grasp. Literally. I just KNOW the employees must go in the back and start laughing. "See that funny lookin broad out there? She needs a fork! hahahah!" Aside from my paranoia, the food is pretty good. I highly recommend the beef pho. It is probably what I should stick to getting, because I tried being adventurous a few times and that didn't result in the extreme satisfaction that a bowl of pho would have. The egg rolls are pretty kickin', too.

    (3)
  • Danika M.

The banh mi here are expensive and diappointing. The veggies are all limp and soggy and flavorless. I don't even remember what the pho tasted like, but the sandwich was enough to make me never want to eat here again.

    (1)
  • Jenny S.

So my best friend and I love this pho place. There a good value and they always have good pho! Very worth the trip to Capital Hill! The spring rolls are good, so is the chicken pho! You can't go frong with this place!

  • Trevor R.

The food is fresh and tasty, the service is always fast, and the huge mural of a Vietnamese street scene with the little lights is fun to look at. The nice, big open windows in the front are great for a cool breeze in the summer, as well as Broadway people-watching year-round. There's lots of great stuff on the menu, not just pho. My staple is the Spicy Tofu Vermicelli (and I'm not even vegetarian).

    (4)
  • Async C.

I've eaten here twice now and have enjoyed it both times. The combo noodles bowl was great and my wife enjoyed her veggie soup. The food is cheap which is nice as well. I consider this one of the better Vietnamese places that I've been to the city.

    (4)
  • Cortney C.

Ok...so the service isn't great. Half the time they ignore you and half the time, they are trying to push you out the door. But the Bun! Oh the Bun! You know...the rice vermicillli dishes! Hands down, this is the best Bun I've had in Seattle (and I've tried quite a few vietnamese restaurants). So why is it so good? The meats are deliciously charbroiled in a sweet marinade. And the Nuoc Cham (the sauce) has a much richer flavor that most. I highly recommend that you give it a try.

    (5)
  • Christy A.

You can certainly find better Pho than this in Seattle, especially in the ID. I challenge you, however, to find a better Vietnamese restaurant in a more convenient location on Capitol Hill with a decent atmosphere to boot. The service is quick and efficient, and the pho is always tasty-- I order the rare beef or veggie depending on my mood, and usually split a tofu fresh roll with peanut sauce to start. The decor includes comfortable booths and twinkly lanterns which elevate the dining experience considerably compared with other pho places. The price is also right-- I can get super full with leftovers for under 10 dollars. The sandwiches I remember from the Sodo location are on the menu as well- if they are anything like the ones I had there around...2002 they are worth a try. Than Brothers may try to bribe you with free dessert, but tell them where to stuff that cream puff. This is the place for Pho on Broadway.

I ate here a couple of weeks ago while visiting family and still salivating over the meal I had. The spring rolls and Vietnamese coffee were good but the pho was outstanding. I usually always have gotten chicken pho in the past but I got the beef pho here (with ribeye and flank) and boy, was that a hit with my tummy! The only thing I would change is to add cilantro with the basil. Spacious and no blaring music when I went (Sunday lunch). I'll be going back the next time I'm up.

  • Alicia K.

Everything is served in plastic wear - even the boiling hot pho. I didn't order a side of Dioxins with my lunch. The veggie pho was substandard. The restaurant was fairly dirty and the service was lacking. If you're looking for pho in Cap Hill, you're much better off going to Bamboo.

    (1)
  • Benjamin K C.

These are why the pho is so good at this place: 1. Good broth 2. Onions served individually - so you can have the option to not stink up your breath if you want to 3. Dipping sauce - they work wonders with the meat! Sweet, gingery, spicy goodness 4. No bull meat - they give you tons of meat and good quality I also love their rice dishes. Especially the one with all the barbecue meat. I only hope they make better coffee and drinks.

I was lazy, so gave pho cyclo ANOTHER try. Worst service in town, they forgot our drinks, forgot our spring rolls, and were painfully slow. My food came a full 15 minutes before my friend's, and he was starving. We were finally able to flag them, and, oh, yup. You guys totally forgot his bun. Awesome. My food? Blah. Big, big, big blah. Pho Cyclo had some of the best pho in town. I don't know why they stopped giving a crap about their broth. It's awful. Somewhere out there, baby Jesus is crying because of the shitty restaurant you've become, Pho Cyclo. It's depressing.

Holy Pho! Love this place. I don't know I haven't been here before, but it might be my new fav (if not, it's up there!). The difference maker - I love the sauce that comes with the pho! It is sweet but spicy. I also like the ratio of veggies to tofu and the cut of the noodles. The broth is also great. For the price, yes this place rocks. I will be back here within a few days. I'm consumed in the Cyclo now! YUM. PHO. BAM.

I was meeting a friend in Capital Hill and he mentioned that he's never had Pho before in his life. And this guy used to live in California, which only has the largest Vietnamese population in the United States and by default, probably the most Pho restaurants also. We happened to be walking on Broadway and I see Pho Cyclo Cafe. Coming from California, he's probably used to seeing Pho + #, I don't see them as much here in Seattle but in California, you can find Pho #1...#117, it's endless. So the Cyclo name was pretty cool and it reminded me of the vietnamese movie with the same title. Anyways, we make our way inside. Very different. There is a facade/mural deplicting various places in Vietnam. Kinda cool actually. We both order the Pho. I think the Pho was okay. You can probably find the same tasting Pho at dozens of locations in and around Seattle. He on the other hand, thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. The broth, meats, noodles, it was a perfect combination. Not a bad place to take someone if they're trying Pho for the first time. Even for veteran Pho eaters, if you're in the area, and craving for a bowl of hot soup, I'd recommend this place.

  • Steve O.

Terrible service! We went here around 11:45am on a Sunday morning looking for a pho fix, and I'll never know if it was good or not due to the worst service I've had in a long time. Almost 25 minutes between ordering and receiving our appetizer (fresh rolls, not great), then another 15 minutes before the waitress realized she had forgotten our order or something. She came back and re-took our pho order, and was at least another 15 minutes before we had had enough and just left. Too much other pho in Seattle to waste time on this place.

    (1)
  • Bryan L.

Have you ever wished you had the power of invisibility? Well, here's the place to go! A friend and I walked in and stood there for about fifteen minutes before even being acknowledged by staff. The couple in front of us experienced a similar wait. So, after finally being seated, we wait... and wait... fifteen minutes later, someone brings us water. We ask for a server, and no one comes. Ten minutes later, we actually just got up and left. Worst service ever. A thirty-five minute wait with no server taking our order when the place is not fully busy is ridiculous. You are much better off going to Than Brothers a few blocks down, where the food is delicious and cheaper with lightning fast service. A simple search for the word "service" throughout other Yelpers' comments will confirm the horrible service at this place. However, if you ever want to simply die by starvation, this is the place for you.

    (1)
  • Calvin Y.

I strongly dislike Pho Cyclo's service... and here's why: 1. As requested by their sign, we waited by the door to be seated. We waited and waited and after standing there for what seemed to be like eternity, we finally decided to take our business elsewhere. 2. I come back a few months later and we were seated almost immediately. However, this time, the waiting game took another form -- we had to wait for somebody to come by to take our orders and that took forever. 3. When the server swiped my credit card and it didn't work, I asked if they could manually input it instead, but he refused to do it. No reason was given, he just flat out refused. To sum up: bad service and average pho at above average prices. But I do recommend their crunchy spring rolls.

    (2)
  • Mary J.

Two things that make me love this place: 1) They take debit/credit cards (I lose cash like it's nobody's business) 2) They serve alcohol (hair of the dog never did anybody any harm) The Pho is great here, best hangover cure north of Central America (sopa de pata knocks out the meanest of hangovers!). Service is slow here, don't expect to be in and out in less than half an hour. But I was with great company so it wasn't a deal breaker for me. With Than Brothers being my favorite pho place, it's hard to pass up seeing as it's just up the street, but if I find my wallet paper moneyless and I feel like having a beer with my pho, then this is the place to go. It's cute inside too, which adds to the appeal.

    (4)
  • Stephen M.

Service here is absolutely terrible. The food is good and the charbroiled rice noodle dishes are a nice alternative to teriyaki, so I go here occasionally. That said, I never walk in the Broadway Pho Cycle without feeling like I'm an inconvenience to the staff. I've just settled on taking it to go.

Good pho. Love the fresh spring rolls with fish sauce. Quick service.

Let me state right off the bat that the stars apply ONLY TO THE FOOD. It. is. delicious and inexpensive. I've had pho around town and this is my go-to joint when I want to slurp down some damn good soup. Yesterday was a warm day so I tried the lettuce wraps and was very pleased at the flavor, the portion size and was stoked when I got the bill and they were only $4 due to HH. (NICE) I was full and took home half to eat for lunch today (again, all for $4!!??) I live 2 blocks away and have eaten here 10-15 times both alone and with guests. Each time the service sucked, honestly. It has been my experience that after the food arrives, the wait staff is not attentive. I always have to ask for refills on my lemonade, seriously: Every Time. If I need anything after I've started eating I have to flag down a server which is irritating. Ordering soup to go is even more irritating. Forget about a friendly greeting, a smile or conversation. (Heck, I'd be happy for eye contact! ) I order the same thing every time (#7) and get the same female cashier who is always in a hurry and seems annoyed. How about some loyal customer appreciation? Nope. She just wants that money so she can move on to the next customer. That said, I keep coming back for more. I'm hooked on that bomb broth, fresh basil, sprouts and chicken. MMMMMMMM YUM. I feel like Elaine in the Seinfeld episode with the Soup Nazi. Treat me like crap. I don't care. JUST GIVE ME THAT SOUP!

So I just moved to Capitol Hill a month ago. When I realized I was right around the corner from here, I almost cried. Ok, not even close to almost - I'm not THAT sentimental. But I did almost cry at the end of Toy Story 3**, so I'm not an insensitive brute, either. Either way, near-teary-eyed or not, I was especially pleased after eating here for the first time3 weeks ago. I've now eaten here 4 times in that time span, to the point where the male server who always gave me a look of disdain (I'm a shaggy vietnamese guy with tats. He's traditional. Or he just had 3 bad days and I happened to be there all those times) actually smiled at me the last time I came there. The pho is among the best pho in town. The broth is flavorful, without the fat bubbles you see in lesser pho places. I always like to take a few sips of their tasty broth before adding in hoisin and sriracha. They also have very good bun, and that crab summer roll they have on special is a nice surprise. I also tried their com tofu (#31 on their menu - rice with spicy tofu stir-fried with lemongrass and onions) , and man, that quite blew me away. Very delicious. I very much like that I'm so close, I can just pop in here on any Sunday morning by foot, especially for those that begin in hangovers. Happy me! **BTW, go see Toy Story 3. It's awesome.

I'm not a huge Vietnamese food guy, but something about being in Seattle made me want to try new things. We popped in after seeing what people were eating while walking by, and we're very pleased. Everything tasted so fresh, light and healthy.

this place......frustrating! a dichotomous asian eatery of appetizing food manned by an inconsistent wait staff. on one hand, the food is good. at times, great. probably the goodest vietnamese you will find this side of Jackson. the bun and spring rolls are tasty, the prices are decent, and the won ton soup is the best bowl on cap hill. they give you so many shrimp!! but on the other hand, the service is atrocious. so bad. the first few times i came here, things were fine. but for the last year....it's as if the wait staff just gave up. on my third, vestigial hand, the location is great. right on broadway, close to my house. here is my last experience, which, sadly, is typical: after being seated, 10 minutes later we received water. my friend and i each order a large won ton soup. so easy. half hour later we received our bowls of won ton, with one small plate of bean sprouts on the side. no silverware, chopsticks, or napkins. i approach the front desk and ask for two sets. i am a won ton vet. i know things! i know that their won ton comes with bean sprouts, basil, lime, jalapenos, and ginger sauce. with these simple ingredients i can craft a perfect bowl. no wait staff approaches our table for 10 minutes; i make my way to the front (again) and ask for the goods. eventually, a waiter brings out one serving of ginger sauce, and nothing else. i stop him before he leaves the table and i ask if my friend can have one as well....he gave me a puzzled look and asks if i meant chop sticks. HE ASKED ME IF I MEANT CHOP STICKS. i pointed at the sauce bowl, he gave a nod and scurried back to the kitchen. we never saw him again. we began eating. it tasted good! even without basil. and for a while, things were fine. after a few minutes i begin to notice that my bowl is almost gone and i am still hungry. my friend and i look to the next table, and their bowls are MUCH bigger. their smiles, MUCH larger. i wave a waitress down and ask if we had received small bowls instead of the sizes we ordered. she giggles and says yes, and asks if we want some spring rolls (?). to make things easy on everyone involved, i say yes. i assumed that these were on the house, to make up for charging us for large bowls. to their credit, the spring rolls were good. but after everything that has happened, we are more than ready to pay and leave. the check comes, and we notice that we have indeed been billed for the spring rolls. altho my review may sound mocking....i know that this place has the potential to be great. i used to get good service here! and the food, when they get your order right, is delicious. plenty of shrimp. so, i will be back, armed with the knowledge that nothing comes easy at this place. tooth and nail for everything. on a sidenote: to the short moustache'd waiter with the chip on his shoulder....the one who mean mugs us every time we eat here....what. is. your. problem? i know you're probably thumbing my soup.

This is still my go to vietnamese restaurant on Capitol Hill. I still get pho, but I find that I'm ordering bahn mi and vermicelli bowls more often.

Poor service. Ugly tacky murals on the walls. High bar counters which the waiters and waitresses couldn't even see over. It took forever for us to get seated and it wasn't even very crowded. We were ready to order and three or four waiters stopped by our table abruptly to drop off various things and water, and not one of them even bothered to acknowledge us. We walked out. Poor service, poor decor, and I can imagine even poorer food.

I am Vietnamese so you should trust me on this one. Pho is our culinary export to the world and I love the pho here. I order the #11, rare steak with meatballs. It arrives fast and piping hot and the broth is delicately savory with just enough fat and a scattering of chopped scallions and cilantro and a sprinkling of black pepper on top. The bean sprouts and basil are always fresh and plentiful, they don't skimp you like other places. And although this is not traditional as far as I know, the pho here is served with a side of raw onion slices and a ginger-chili sauce to dip your meats in (I assume). The tables are sturdy polished wooden tables and nicely spaced apart. What sets this pho restaurant apart from others is the lovely trompe l'oeil murals on the walls. On one side it's a streetscape of a bustling retail center in Vietnam, the other side is the outside of a restaurant complete with real shutters mounted onto the wall. You do feel like you are sitting outside in a courtyard which is how a lot of pho places do things in Vietnam, street food style. And for two visits, I thought the gate painted on the wall in the back was real. Ha!

The pho - its broth, noodles and other ingredients - were all fantastic. In particular their chili sauce was so good I didn't even reach for the Sriracha sauce. The rolls were just OK; the lychee salad we had was very.....1950s.....but was tasty and we finished it. Overall I'm rounding up slightly to get to 4 stars, but I would definitely return.

Good. Friendly, family owned. Reliably tasty pho, also some nice non-pho. Good lemongrass chicken stir-fry. This is the best Pho place I've tried in Seattle, but frankly it doesn't quite compare with my favorite equally priced places in Vancouver, so it gets a three. One problem we've had is that the noodle serving in the Pho is typically a little small. I usually run out of noodles and have too much meat.

Very cold inside in the winter. Really bizarre and annoying music. Food isnt that much better than the "discount" Pho places nearby. They lost our order which ended up taking over 40 minutes for us to receive a bowl of Pho. I'm not planning on returning.

Tastes chain-like and kind of overpriced for pho.

Their pho has mostly fresh ingredients and the fresh rolls are okay. Nothing too special going on here. It's fine.

While there is not much to really vary one pho place from another in my book, afterall it is nothing more than rice noodles, jalapenos, lime, and mint with some meat (or tofu) of your choice, this place is some of the better pho I have had in Seattle. Not to mention it is wickedly affordable. I took a friend here thinking it would be a good place for her given her allergy to gluten. They were very attentive to her needs and made sure of no cross contamination....big kudos given for that. So, yeah, this pho place definately rises above the rest of mediocre pho places in my book just for that alone.

So I rounded down, instead of up. Really deserves 3.5 maybe 3.6 stars * When this place first opened up--I was in love. Noodles were fresh and the chicken spring rolls were delicious. Sorry to say, but I stopped going to Chinatown and Than Bros for Pho. I appreciated their quality of food and space more. The murals all across their walls definitely differentiates this place from being your average Pho joint. Like a lot of places, inflation happened... Prices went up. They weren't astronomical, but I noticed. For the spike up in price, they should of bought new cups. I am sorry, but I like my pho spicy. Which means lots of Sriracha! It would be fine if the waiter/waitress would come by every 5 minutes to fill it up. But too bad we don't live in a perfect world. Another pet peeve of mine is bathrooms. They were fine in the beginning... But as time wore down, graffiti and cleanliness started to take affect. Big recommendation is if you eat there for the first time, don't let them seat you by the bathrooms. Though a good 10-15 feet away, you can still smell the mixture of Pho and toilet. Not the best combination of smells. They had to close down for a week for plumbing renovations to me recollection. Whenever I crave Pho and am in the Capital Hill area, despite their flaws, I would definitely choose this place over the rest.

Bad service: ( couldn't communicate gluten free, and they missed someone's order) not great food: fresh spring rolls are too tacky, chicken extremely salty, better peanut sauce may be had from trader joes. the good: its cheap, might be ok for lunch

Food, good. Very, very good. Service, bad. Very, very bad (OK, it's borderline rude every time I go, and they've screwed up my order and overcharged me). Food, good. Very, very good.

This place is part of my regular rotations for a good, steaming bowl of pho. I believe the slight premium on the pho prices are due to the cleanliness of the place, which I'm OK with. No pho juice leftovers on the table or sauces from other people. The broth is consistently good -- the spicy ginger sauce on the side makes this soup unique from other pho restaurants. Soothes the soul. The noodles are never too mushy, and the meat is always tender. Also, the fried tofu over rice noodles is excellent. This is my other choice if I'm not getting pho. Most of the rice noodle dishes are fresh and filling. The banh mi is good too, although, I usually go to Saigon Deli for my banh mi fixes.

Pho Cyclo is listed as a place that is good for kids. Our experiences haven't been as kid friendly. This restaurant caters to the hip 20 and 30 yr olds and not as much for families. When we go there, we always get shoved in a corner and get poor or so-so service. Parking in this neighborhood isn't great either for hauling kids around to the restaurant. Now, for the food. I like their menu and the quality of their food. Because of the kid and parking thing, I usually don't go here. However, I do think they have nicely grilled meats and their pho is tasty too. I think that their food is a 5 and their service and difficulty of accommodating kids is a 3.

Same problem as many other Yelpers wrote here: service and sanitary. BAD, FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE. After Pho 900 was closed, we had no choice but to go to this place. Pho itself is decent (I would give it 4 stars), but the customer service and sanitary practices are completely absent. I'm strict about people touching my food or my utensils with their bare hands, and I see that happening there all the time. They always bring us spoons and chopsticks, holding them by the places which you put in your mouth, and they just place them on a table (not on napkin) which I don't think gets sanitized and cleaned very often. Then, the person who wipes soup spoons after they are washed (not sure how exactly the washing part is done, and I'd rather not know) keeps holding them by the place from which you sip your soup with his bare hands, and what sucks is that it's the same person who handles register and cash (which is the dirtiest and the most gross thing in the world!). And he does it right next to the cashier without even trying to hide. I was surprised that I was the only one who said something about it; may be I'm too germophobic and demanding. After seeing that, we washed our utensils in the bathroom for which we got some confused/smirky looks from servers. Another thing is they never carry out our orders right, we always order WELL DONE meat, and they always bring it RARE. The last thing that killed me was the super bitchy cashier (wearing glasses), the same guy who was wiping spoons and holding them with his bare hands. I paid for the food, and decided to give cash tips to the server. When he saw that I didn't put any tips on the receipt, he asked me with his super bitchy tone "Was anyting wong wit te serpis". I said "no, why?". He goes "I ton see tips hea". I said "I'll give it to server if I decide to". Then, since there was something wrong with the service I decided to let the bitchy cashier know. I told him "Actually there was something wrong, you shouldn't touch spoons with your hands because people use those spoons to eat food". He gave me the most ridiculous and the most common answer: "Ma hand ar kleen". I said "You handle cash and credit cards, your hands are not clean". He continued to say that they sanitize them twice, but what's the point of sanitizing if he handles them with his bare hands right before putting them on the table. Oh and their "charbroiled chicken" never feels like it was freshly cooked; it feels like it was pre-cooked and just warmed up in a microwave or something. He thanked me, I asked him what for, he said for the comment. Bad, frustrating experience, someone needs to send King County food inspectors there. In fact, I'm going to research it right now.

Pho Cyclo is always my choice for pho. I think their broth is far more flavorful than Thanh Brothers and everything just seems fresher. If you want a fast meal, it is usually out to the table 5 minutes after being ordered. The shrimp spring rolls are awesome too. The service there is generally good, although the one waiter is definitely a bit of a diva and can be a little flippant. Overall I would say that they are kind and attentive. I agree with the previous reviewer about the loud Lady Gaga - enough already! I would say it is great value for the money charged. Their pho is always satisfying to me. Ask to be seated away from the door on cold days, as the wind blows right in from the street - there is no vestibule or wall to block the cold air.

As a Vietnamese who lives in Seattle, I am really enjoy the place. The food is awesome and it's not that expensive too. The only downfall is the bathroom is not the cleanest.

  • Bill F.

Three stars. I will need to go back to see if it will get a four. The first visit was good. The fresh spring roll has a smell to it, but maybe it's the rice roll. It smelled a little funky. I had a really good noodle salad with beef, and my friend like his Pho. This is a much better choice than Pho 900, which is a few blocks south a littered with small gnats that fly in your face. Pho Cyclo was clean and nice. However, the wait staff didn't seem interested in you after setting down your meal. A water refill came much later than needed.

I like the way the walls are painted to look like you're eating outside in some city in Vietnam. Too bad the pho doesn't match. The broth was tasteless, the meat was cut tiny and the service was half-hearted at best.

Have you ever stopped by Safeway around say, 4 pm, and tried some of the deli's General Tso's chicken? If you have, you'll know that what's eatable between 11 and 2 is unpalletable after it's third hour sitting in the General's stainless steel bathtub. By 4, forget it. The chicken at Pho Cyclo Cafe was not only past the "4 pm mark", a case could be made it was past the 24-hour mark. To be fair, I ordered "Spicy Curry Chicken" from the "Specials" menu which may not have meant "Specialty" but rather, "we've got some chicken left over from last night...let's see if we can't do something special with it." On the plus side, the wait staff was courteous when I asked for a replacement and I dug the whole "outside-inside" decor. If you're faced with a choice between stagnant Safeway Chinese and Pho Cycle, remember that at Safeway you can sample it before you buy.

Hands down by FAR my favorite and BEST Pho out there. On top of that you have to come there and try their classic fresh shrimp spring rolls and charboiled prok with rice is simply AMAZING. One of the TOP Pho places in seattle and I can see why. Every dish is quality, but I don't know why I keep my self limited to only 2 DISHES. Pho and pork. I've been to other pho places, and the other places just aren't up to par with the level Pho Cyclo has to offer. Pour in the HOT SAUCE.

Good pho. Good fresh spring rolls. Cute mural on the wall. Decent service. My biggest problems with this place is that they don't really offer vegetarian options and their health inspection ratings are less than perfect. It's hard to find a Pho place that has good health inspection ratings though.

great food . their vietnamese sandwiches are fantastic especially the sweet delicious pork, certainly the best thing to come out of the vietnam war is the vietnamese sandwich! if u go to the sodo location at lunch hour they have daily soup options, bad ass

Went here on Saturday for lunch. I had the Rice noodle with lemongrass beef. Full of noodles and lots of beef, not like a lot of other pho shops that just fills the bottom of the bowl with lettuce and bean sprouts. The beef was very flavorful didn't really need the fish sauce that comes with it. Service was okay. Not like any of the other vietnamese places have good service anyways. The atmosphere is realllyyy nice; they have a big mural of saigon. I'd love this to be the pho place for me to go to, but I don't think it's worth the drive and deal with trying to find parking on broadway.

  • Ass Man Z.

Pho Shizzle, my nizzle! I like this place, well, I should say, I like the food...the atmosphere is pretty "mall-esque". They use a good helping of garlic in their broth and that's a very good thing. It's quite tasty and cheap, like $4 for a small bowl with flank and I have yet to see anyone eat a large. Damn good meal for all this cold weather we've been having.

  • Greg L.

Great for a quick, cheap, and huge bowl of pho. The soup always comes out super fast. Not sure I'd recommend anything else much on the menu, but I'm here for the pho at least a couple times a month. My favorite is the veggie pho, which is really enjoyable, especially when blasted with a bit of the rooster.

i have gone all over this city trying pho and have to say this is my personal favorite. i love in the summer when they open the windows on broadway and it becomes an open aired restaurant. service is always good and prompt. the soup comes with this chili sauce that i am not sure what its purpose actually is. i just throw it into the broth and it gives off a nice flavor. the spring rolls are excellent as well. i love this place and come here frequently

I am unable to think of a single reason why I wouldn't recommend Pho Cyclo Cafe. The food is delicious, prices are competitive, and the entire venue is exceptionally clean. Extra points for the floor to ceiling wall murals. My favorite place in Seattle for Pho - perfect for any cold dreary Seatlte day.

I really wanted to be pleasantly overwhelmed by my first experience with Pho (yea I know, it's taken me this long to try it, not resisting, just didn't make it a priority)...I found it to be rather bland, even after adding all the additional stuff and sauces that accompanied it. I went with the chicken pho and it was ho hum... maybe I am missing out on why people are so excited about pho....aside from the fact that I felt freakishly full for the rest of the night I wouldn't die sad if I never had pho again. We started with the tofu fresh rolls which were okay, probably just rate a solid C. Service was good, waters were constantly filled and the place is clean and the ambiance seemed a bit better than the bright industrial overhead lights and green booths at Than Brothers. It was quite nice to have dinner for two for under $20!

I really enjoyed the pho here. I got the vegetarian noodle bowl, with onions, tofu, broccoli, and cauliflower. It was delicious and filling. The servings are LARGE, so get the small, I couldn't even finish that one.

Mmm...Good pho. The large pho is very *large* and has copious amount of scallion and onion in it, which I could have spent half an hour spooning up. And the spring rolls were good. Prices reasonable too.

Pho man! Pho man! Pho! Okay seriously its good. I always get the 14 when I go. But the bad service just drops it to a three star. I have had to ask for water twice like every time I have gone. Forget trying to order anything after they bring your pho cuz you don't exist any more in their eyes. That said it is good. Pho man! Pho man!

  • Maribel C.

This used to be one of my favorite Pho restaurants (until I lived near Kingsland Road in East London)! I used to go to Than Brothers but ever since coming here I haven't gone back. The small bowls are more than enough for me. I also enjoy the outdoors patio feel the murals bring to the dinning room not to mention the mesmerizing synchronized lights embedded into the walls. The service can be a little awkward but the Pho and bubble tea make up for sure.

  • charlie k.

I thought the pho chay (veggie pho) was horrible. It seems they just dumped a bunch of vegetables in a bowl of pho with absolutely no consideration of taste and said 'Voila, vegetarian pho!'. I give it three stars because my friend says their other pho is excellently flavored.

  • Chani B.

Gosh darn it. I love Pho,but why does the service suck here? Ive actually had to tell one of the waiters that a customer needed service. I dunno why, cause some people need to speak up,but mama got a big mouth. The food is good. Not as good as the one on Jackson (sorry). Just simple pho on Broadway. Its the old World Wraps building on the everchanging Broadway....

this was my first pho experience so i don't really have anything to compare it to. i ordered the basic beginner pho--rare steak. i did enjoy the meal although perhaps their definition of rare is a bit divergent from my own. not a really big deal for me, but when i see 'rare' i think red. also had the fresh spring rolls with chicken which i really enjoyed quite a bit. all in all a good meal for a very reasonable price. i like the variety on the menu and i look forward to trying more of the dishes.

This place is so-so, but will do for a Pho fix if you're on the Hill. Their broth is a little better than Thanh Bros. (the only other Broadway option), but Thanh Bros. has the free creampuffs to its credit. Service is TERRIBLE, but it's almost charming; they obviously have no idea what service is about. I'll watch the waitstaff all eating together and laughing with friends at a table in back while I wait for 5 minutes waving cash around in front of the register. But if you're spending $5 on lunch, who really cares? The main reason I wrote this review is to encourage all Broadway Pho Cyclo diners to try their location on 1st Ave south of the stadium, which has truly fragrant, layered, amazing pho, some of the best I've ever had, beautifully swimming with oh-so-tender cuts of meat and paper-thin onions. Pho is all about the broth, and this place has it down pat. The star anise, cilantro, ginger, and beef stock sing in perfect harmony, making you want to do a face-plant in the huge bowl of steaming deliciousness. This place is extremely popular at lunch for good reason, and worth the walk or bus ride if it's out of your way. Seriously, get thee to Pho Cyclo 1st Ave, you won't be disappointed!!!!!

the atmosphere is fun, and the service is extremely fast. the pho, however, is just good. do take into consideration though, it is the best pho i've had in seattle after trying 6 different places previously. the only rival to me is the tamarind tree, which is going for something completely different as a restaurant, so its a little difficult to compare. if you are looking to eat a pretty good bowl of pho in under 15 minutes, go here.

  • Harry M.

This place was originally recommended to me by a friend whose Vietnamese girlfriend said that across Seattle she prefers the pho here as it is most similar to her mother's. That was when the only location was on 1st Ave S; lucky for me they opened a location on Broadway last year. The pho broth is amazing. They have pho chay (vegetarian), something many pho joints in Seattle overlook. The noodles dishes are delicious and so large they are difficult to finish (I can do it but I have a big mouth). You get free hot tea. Less than a dollar more expensive than Than Bros up the street, better quality food, more variety on the menu, nicer decor.

this is our favorite pho cafe... but i won't eat there again until they clean the mens restroom...yuk! i saw a service person use the loo, and not wash...eek! the service could be better.

Well the pho was ok...Pho 900 is still my favorite. The bus boy was so sweet and was very friendly. The biggest problem I have is that when I was paying my bill the manager or owner or whoever it was picked up his cell phone, dialed a number and started talking on it right in the middle of the transaction. I'm normally not that picky but it was really rude. I don't know if I really want to go back...maybe to try a sandwhich?

Some of the best Meat and noodles that can be found in a Pho shop in seattle. The side of home made garlic sauce is what puts this place over the top. I do also enjoy their fresh spring rolls though those can be hit or miss some times.

this joint is the best pho in seattle! i dont care what anyone says! i've been to others but its just disappointing when we go anywhere else. it is the best thing to eat for a hangover. the beef broth is very flavorful but i do add siracha, pepper and all the other addins you can think of. yes, they do play some pretty crappy music most of the time and the service isnt the greatest but you dont go to a pho restaurant for service! its just really good food for a decent price. i dig it

The Pho Cyclo restaurant has the worst service that I have ever experienced. I went in to order Pho to go, paid, and waited 20 minutes while watching them serve everyone else in the restaurant. The Pho is ok, not exceptional, and is at least a dollar more than the Than Brothers Pho up the street (Than Brothers includes, cream puffs by the way). I have never returned to the Cyclo since, and I've heard complaints from others about service speed post-paying (15 minute wait from payment to exit). I disagree with Harry M. and Taylor T., the food is not worth the wait, trouble, and bad service reaming that you receive by going to the restaurant. If you want better Pho, go to the ID, Saigon Pearl. If you want a better deal, go to Than Brothers.

Go here for your Pho fix! They make other Vietnamese dishes - banh mi, vermicelli bowls, and combo rice plates, but their specialty and the standout is their pho. They have the best pho broth on the hill, as good as the small pho shops in Little Saigon. I always cringe when I see people (friends and my boyfriend included) adding oyster sauce, siracha, and pepper to the broth before actually tasting it. You might need to do that elsewhere, but not here. Another thing that I love about Pho Cyclo is that they don't skimp on their meat or tofu (if you are getting the veggie pho). They have enough combinations to please people like my Dad who gets his pho with tripe, tendon, fatty flank, meatballs, etc. Finish off with their delicious Vietnamese iced coffee - really strong brewed coffee sweetened with condensed milk to avoid the post-pho coma.

Decent Viet food, if you live in the neighborhood and want quick and easy. I would never drive from another part of the city to eat here. Go to the ID! The service here borders disrespectful. The staff is not friendly and makes you feel a bit uncomfortable. The food arrives at separate times and you do not always eat with your company. 2 stars. Meh. I've experienced better.

Terrible service. Staff appear annoyed that a lone customer wanders in - stands waiting for service - eventually has to go up to grim woman at the cash register and ask to be seated. No water brought until asked, server never comes back, won tons are huge but the number of them is quite few. Mostly though, it's the lack of service that destroys this place. And very hot soup served in thin plastic means BPAs leaching in to your food. No thanks.

The pho is among my favorite in Seattle, I love the ginger sauce. But the service is deplorable--so bad every single time I go not improving over time in the least. I avoid this place even though their pho is so good because the experience as a whole will drive me crazy and piss me off.

Uppers -Plenty of seating -What I would call, exotic, sophisticated mushrooms (in part, because I don't know the species!) -Speedy service Downers -Lacking on noodles for a large -Hard veges as others have noted (I don't mind though) -Price. You'll walk away down at least 10. -Plastic chop sticks. I'll keep campaigning for this...bamboo has SO much more grip! The Scoop I popped in here today for the very first time and got what I expected. Nothing wrong or fantastic about that. If you're looking for a place to quench your Pho fix, Pho Cyclo definitely has you covered. *The Vege Pho I ordered had a 'healthy' amount of Tofu in it. I noticed a review from a year ago noted it was absent!

I love Vietnamese food and was excited to try this place out. It has a cute feel inside and staff are nice. Food came quickly but I wasn't blown away. It was an ok shrimp and vegetable stir fry but it isn't making me want to go back again. On the plus side the drinks are super affordable and there was a large selection of vegetarian choices for my sister

This four-star rating is based solely on this establishments pork bánh mì. For those unacquainted with this Vietnamese sandwich, it's a french baguette with mayonnaise, pickled vegetables, cilantro, pork, and jalapenos. Each and every bite into the entree reveals a delicate balance of flavors and textures. Your top and bottom rows of teeth would chisel into the crispy exterior and then plunge into the warm supple body of the baguette. At which point, flavor-ridden pickling juices would burst greedily into your mouth, carrying the flavors of seasoned pork with it. Those with a savory tooth are sure to appreciate it. The only downside? Sometimes the distribution of jalapenos is suboptimal, leaving some bites much spicier than others. And, with the slow water service, you may be better off taking this sandwich to go. At $3 plus change, it's a great bargain.

My go to place on northern side of cap hill. The tofu pho and sandwiches are consistently good. The service can be hit or miss though.

The food was good. Unfortunately the service was bad bad bad. Our order was taken after an extended wait. The food came to us in a fair amount of time. After that we never saw our server again. I had to go up to the counter to get a fork. I had to go up to the counter to get more napkins. I had to go up to the counter to get refills on my soda. We weren't done eating and the bill was left on our table. no conversation at all, just the placement of the bill. I don't know if I'll go back.

This is, hands down, my favorite Pho. The broth is a bit sweet but I think the other flavors compliment it and it becomes the perfect fusion of a little sweet, salty, and spicy. The ginger sauce that comes with the Chicken Pho is AMAZING. It comes on the side and It is a bit spicy but so good. I add extra sririacha anyway because I love thins hot. Broadway can be a pain for parking and my place is just out of walking distance so when I'm in a hurry and want to pick something up, sadly this isnt the easiest. So worth it though, in my opinion.

Yeah.... no. Out of all the pho places that I've been to, this one was probably the worse. They put some herb in their broth that made the pho taste funny, so I barely touched my food. The restaurant was quite empty when I was there, the windows were opened to the streets so I had a nice breeze. I'd have to say that the soymilk was the only good part about my visit.

A date once ordered me #26 (Bun Bo Xao-- sliced beef with lemongrass over noodles). It seemed presumptuous of him to order for me-- old-fashioned and patronizing. But he was a nice guy, and he told me to trust him on it, so I did. And he was right. He was not being old-fashioned, he was being awesome! It is definitely the best dish there. I'm totally addicted. I eat it a few times a month. In fact, I want to eat it now.

I'm a long-time lover of Pho Cyclo. Whenever my friends want pho, I always vote for the Capitol Hill Pho Cyclo. They have a way with chicken broth that makes my mouth & brain drool for more, and since chicken isn't a traditional pho offering, I lap it up. The service is usually pretty snappy, too, no matter how busy the place is. Usually. On a Sunday, I ordered a bowl of soup and an appetizer around 5:30 p.m. The place was 1/4 full, and I settled down with a newspaper, figuring I'd get a few articles in before my soup came. Half an hour later, I'd read the whole newspaper. I was wondering where my food was at that point -- at LEAST the appetizer -- and noticed that the table nearest me had sat down later than me but already received their food. When I asked my server where my food was, he responded "Oh, it's coming, it's coming!" Five minutes later, another server asked if I had finished my food. I probably glared at her when I said "It hasn't arrived yet." Every time I've ordered pho here and at any other restaurant, it never takes more than a handful minutes to arrive. Even at its busiest, Pho Cyclo has never before left my party hanging more than 20 minutes -- and the appetizers always arrived within 15 minutes. My soup finally arrived 40 minutes after I placed my order. I canceled the appetizer after 30 minutes because it was so late in coming. No explanations from the server, no apologies. As I was eating, I looked over at someone who'd sat down five minutes previously and was eating their own bowl of soup. I muttered, "You've got to be KIDDING me," and was so furious that I gulped down the rest of my bowl in 3 minutes. When I went to pay, I frowningly mentioned how severely my soup had been delayed. The person at the cash register apologized, but did not offer an explanation or to discount my meal to mend their screw-up. Pho Cyclo, you have just lost a long-time customer. Your waiter probably forgot to submit my order, and you failed to compensate for his mess/my wasted time with the traditional offerings of a free appetizer or discounted meal. Despite your delicious broth, your delayed service without explanation means that I will never be back again -- and that I'll always speak out against your restaurant. When people are hungry, one terrible experience always outweighs the handful of "just okay" experiences.

WAH WAH THAN BROS THAN BROS. Shut up. I can only speak for the veggie pho but I truly madly deeply believe that Cyclo wins this race. They have more than just penis shaped mushrooms as their 'veggies'. Also there's tofu AND CHUNKS OF ROASTED GARLIC IN THE BROTH. Also, this is in my top of fav meals [get it with the noodles]. It comes with a delicious sauce that you pour on it. I would inject this shit into my arm if I had the chance because it's so goddamn tasty, and it's sprinkled with crushed peanuts: Bun / Com Tofu $7.15 Spicy Tofu stir-fried with lemon grass and onion served over steam rice or noodles with vegetables Yes, sometimes it takes a long time to get your water refilled. ATTN: PHO RESTAURANTS NEAR AND FAR: always make sure water glasses are full!! Pho can get spicy. Pho can hurt.

We stopped by here to try the pho from the Seattle Foodie 100 list. We had tried to stop by here on a Friday night, but parking was a nightmare. We ended going to Nishino instead that night. When we finally did stop by here, I was quite disappointed. We ordered the crab spring rolls, a steak pho, and a seafood pho (for me). The crab spring rolls were tasty. When our waitress brought out our pho, she said "Seafood pho.... flank pho...." My boyfriend said: "I ordered the steak pho." "Oh right, that one is steak pho." We just looked at each other like "Riiiiight." Guess what? It was the flank pho as originally promised. Now this is a matter of personal preference and my own fault for not asking, but I absolutely hate having to fish out my shrimp from my soup to pull the tails off. I know lots of people prefer the shrimp tails on, but I am not one of them. Again, it was my fault for forgetting to ask. I was enjoying my soup, but I noticed there was something a bit off and bitter with some of the bites I took. I looked closely in between some of the noodles, and I noticed what I thought was shrimp shells or bits of shrimp tail, or maybe some odd spice I wasn't used to. Upon further examination I figured out they weren't shrimp shells. Rather, it was the root portion of a green onion. Not just the "white" part of the stalk, I'm talking about the actual dirt covered part of root. You know, the part that is supposed to be thrown away. It ruined the dish. I asked my boyfriend if he had any of them in his pho, and he said he didn't. Service was incredibly slow. The restaurant was only about 40% occupied the whole time, but service was still very slow. Refills never happened. Most pho places I've been to seem like they go into the kitchen for about 2 minutes max before they bring back this steaming bowl of pho almost like magic. I swear, one place I went the guy went into the entrance of the kitchen, probably poured the broth over a half-prepared bowl of noodles, tossed the meat in there, and came back out the exit of the kitchen. It was incredibly fast. At Pho Cyclo, I waited 10 minutes for our appetizer, and another 20 minutes for our pho after the appetizer arrived. I will not be going back. I don't know how this place earned a nomination for the Foodie 100 list.

My first visit was last night with two of my favorite girls. I love: - The mural on the the wall. Most pho restaurants have drab, neon interior and don't spend much time dressing up the place. They went all out. - The music. Granted, I'm not a huge fan of club/top 40, but it does add to the ambience. A bit loud, but dammit, that's why my friend Lily (aka Fireminx for you Yelpers) has dubbed the place "Club Pho". I think they should change the name. Really. - Our waiter! Fashionable, Friendly, Funny and Faaabulous. Did not love - Ran out of water, and had to retrieve the pitcher myself. So what? Easy to overlook because of good company and ambience. - The lady who mean-mugged us when we walked in. Hey lady? You're on BROADWAY, why are you trippin? Take your judgments to the Eastside. Oh, the food? Yummmm. I do like the spicy ginger sauce they bring with the pho. Not something I've been offered before at other restaurants.

Oddly enough, I don't go to Pho Cyclo for the pho. For me, it's all about the bánh mì, and the bun. First, the sandwiches, which are easily some of the best I've come across in Seattle. Crunchy baguettes, nice slices of meat, fresh cilantro and a healthy application of jalapenos make for a winner. Factor in the under $4 price, and you simply cannot go wrong. I always buy one extra for a midnight (or mid-morning) snack. Good cheap eats! As for the bun...well, this is why I don't bother with pho. Delicious bowls of rice noodles with lettuce and bean sprouts, herbs and nuoc mam...no, they're not hot bowls of broth, but they are delicious. I've tried them all - pork, pork and shrimp, chicken, shrimp cake, beef, pork/shrimp/meatball, etc.. Throw in some incredibly tasty crispy spring rolls, and you're in for a treat. The one letdown of the Broadway location is the very spotty service. Sometimes the waitstaff is right on top of things, and sometimes they're not. Usually, this means having to wait a little longer for your drinks, extra fish sauce, or appetizers, but other times it means asking twice...or more. Not a total deal breaker in my book, but definitely not 5 star worthy. Ok, the parking is a pain, but this is Cap Hill. Still, this is one of my go-to places for the above mentioned favorites.

This review is only for the sandwiches. I repeat: only the sammies. Specifically the pork ones, because pigs are the best. Straightforward, regular banh mi. All the usual components (in terms of a grilled pork banh mi anyway; the lack of a pate option drives me nuts). The ingredients are adequate. The price is also adequate. Adequacy is apparently a hot new thing, guys, I heard so from the teens. I think the servers did too, because boy howdy they are noooooot at all friendly. But they are adequate!

Great pho. Awful service. I had been here a couple of times prior to my experience the other night, and while the service was nothing special on these nights it was particularly awful. Took a while to get seated, despite the fact that there were a number of open tables (on a Friday). And once we were seated it took FOREVER for them to take our orders. Food arrived decently quickly, and it was delicious as usual, but the service at the end of our meal is what really has me thinking about not going back. We finished eating. And then we waited. We were chatting, but it was clear that we were ready to pay our bill. I made eye contact with some of the waiters/servers/busses (who do not appear to have clearly defined jobs), but nobody came over. Eventually, maybe 10-20 minutes after we finished eating I went up to the counter to ask for the check and some to-go boxes for my girlfriend's leftover soup. Five minutes later the guy comes over and boxes up the food. But no bill. We wait another 5 minutes, estimate the bill cost, leave cash, and walk out. Did I say I was considering trying again? After writing this review I definitely won't be.

I had their chicken sandwich, take out. I figured I'd avoid the horrible service I've been hearing about and do take out. They still managed to basically ignore me the whole time and take forever just to grab my sandwich which was sitting behind the counter. The sandwich was fine. Very thrown together, but it was very cheap so it makes sense.

I'm a little surprised by all the decent ratings for this place. I had a really bad experience last night. I went here because I was really craving Viet food and we were in the neighborhood already. It took a few minutes for my party of three to get seated and when the waitress took us to our table, she made us stand around because she decided to seat us at another table. She was wiping down the tables but left the table wet. That's my pet peeve when I go to restaurants. But I guess they were super busy. I tried to ignore that little detail. So when we were ready to order, our waitress came by with our iced waters. I politely let her know that we were ready to order and she snapped back at me! "CAN YOU WAIT!?" I was like uhh... OK. HOW RUDE. I was so mad! And then a few minutes later, some other lady came and took our order, she was definitely nicer than the first gal. I ordered the rice with shrimp, pork and shrimp balls. My friends ordered the wonton soup noodle and the shrimp, pork, shrimp balls and shrimp cake vermicelli. We also shared shrimp spring rolls. My food was OK... I've had way better, there was something about the rice that felt mushy. And the shrimp balls tasted funky, not my cup of tea. The shrimp and pork was good though and the nuc mam (fish sauce). The spring rolls... meh. My friend said her noodle soup tasted like pho but with egg noodles and wontons. Go figure. She also tried asking for vinegar twice. The first time, the guy told her to hold on... and then he never came back. The second time she asked the older lady and she said they didn't have any. Strange. But at least her boyfriend enjoyed his vermicelli noodles. That was my second time visiting Pho Cyclo Cafe and I have decided to venture back to Chinatown for better Viet food.

i was on cap hill and really, really wanted pho. like, it hurt me how much i wanted pho. we moseyed on in and sat by the window (which was open because the weather was nice). i haven't lived in the city in years, so i kind of forgot the reason why i never sat next to the window when it was open. oh, right. the bus stop. i was starving and ordered fresh rolls, shrimp cakes, and pho. i also ordered a coke. the coke turned out to be diet, and they didn't hear that i ordered pho. all of this happened probably because we were three feet away from a bus stop, but whatever. i eventually got it -- they were really nice about it, i'll add-- and it was insanely sweet. it also had roasted garlic in it which i thought was kind of strange. i had never had the pho here up until this point. it satisfied the craving, though. i don't know. i live on an island so it's hard for me to say i wouldn't get it again. i do really love this place overall, though.

Service is wonderful. People are attentive and friendly Warning: I'm only rating this place based on a simple order of Pho seafood. The broth was very bland and boring. Definitely not a place for authentic Vietnamese broths. The ingredients were few and quite simple. I would rather order their appetizers, rice dishes, tofu dishes, noodle dishes to experience something better. Simply put, I don't take this place for the-awesome-place-for-pho-that's-incredibly-cheap, ya know?

Blah, that is what their broth taste like today. I was under impressed like I usually am. My friend and I stop by for lunch since it was the closet pho spot to her work. I knew I would be disappointed right when I sat down. The broth was not flavorful or robust as most pho places are. The service here is horrible and I hate how they try to be upper crust Vietnamese. Too bad we were short on time because I would have made my way down a little further to Than Brothers. At least you get what you pay for there.

A nice step up from Thanh Bros. The decor is cheesy but cute, the music ranges from vietnamese music to top 40's. The pho is delish! The meat is very tender and it comes with a special ginger sauce that I think is amazing. My friend got the lemon grass chicken and rice which I would totally pass on. The chicken tasted a little weird. Stick with the pho and you won't be disappointed. Plus they have a happy hour get the fresh rolls yumm!!!

Damn...I dislike the service...and I was near the door this afternoon so whenever people came in or left I got cold...BUT... Damn...their pho is tasty...I should know since I'm Viet...haha... Their cuts of beef and their broth...they are doing something funky and good in the kitchen...their dipping sauce was better years ago when it had more bite...but not complaining... 1st place - Pho Cyclo 2nd place - Pho So' 1 (see other review) 3rd place - Thanh Brothers (on a good day)

Definitely a decent place for vietnamese food and the I have yet to find an item that I didn't like. The pho is great and the other menu items have great taste and at a fairly affordable price. The staff are usually very attentive and were quick to respond to my requests. Good atmosphere and clean! I'm sure that sounds shocking for the hill and all, but not bad! Good place to take a group or just you and a friend. Usually pretty brisk, but never extraordinarily busy. Parking is a little tough to come by as you are on Broadway afterall...

We like to call Pho Cyclo "Club Pho" b/c of the music they BLARE in the restaurant. The last 2 times we were there I wanted to put down my cardboard and attempt to breakdance. That being said, their fresh rolls are so good and quite frankly, I love their pho. It's the right combination of everything Lily wants in a bowl of pho. The only negative is that sometimes the service is a weeeee bit...slow.

This place hit the spot on a cold day when I was visiting Seattle. The decor and mood of the space was a bit cold, but the soup warmed me right up. I'd say it's a solid bowl of Pho, but nothing spectacular.

I'm wavering between 3 & 4 stars, as Pho Cyclo has a lot of things right. But when I think about how many things are unpredictable, it's hard to totally justify the 4. The one thing about Pho Cyclo that is always good is the food. My personal favorite is the #31: Spicy Tofu Bun (mildly spicy fried tofu in a noodle bowl with bean sprouts, cucumber, lettuce, and delicious sauce). It's so good that everyone who dines there with me wishes they'd ordered it too, even if they're not vegetation. The lettuce wraps (tofu or chicken) are delicious. And the pho is tasty too (but don't get it to go unless you have access to a microwave or stove; the give you the beef raw, meant to be cooked in the near-boiling broth, which won't be hot enough by the time you travel to your destination with it). The decor is airy, interesting, and modern. There is a neat mural on the wall of a vietnamese street scene painted with great perspective that makes you feel like you're dining outdoors in vietnam, complete with fun color-changing LED lights sprinkled throughout the painting that keep the scene feeling kind of alive. The music is always pop; last night's dinner was accompanied by non-stop Lady Gaga at an overwhelming volume. The service is the most unreliable part of the experience. Occasionally, it is spot on and timely, but that's like maybe 1 visit in 5. More often, the waiters vary between bugging you 3 times before you've even had a chance to look at the menu or greet your date, or disappearing completely for long stretches of time. You might order in one minute, or 15. Your food might take 3 minutes, or 20. Your check might come with the forth bite, or not until you've waited 10 minutes after you finished eating for the staff to re-appear and tracked them down across the room. And although I don't care if the staff don't speak great English (after all, they're authentically vietnamese), it's frustrating to try to order from someone whose English is so limited that even pointing at the menu is a confusing conversation (although most of the staff are fluent). The restaurant and even the bathrooms are generally clean and well-cared for. However, last night fruit flies swam in my soup, and the floor had obviously been mopped with very dirty mop-water, as it actually stank where I was sitting. That's the first time I've noticed unsanitary conditions, though. Overall, Pho Cyclo is one of my most-freqented cheap eats on Capitol Hill, because the food is always yummy and affordable. But don't count on it being fast, unless you're comfortable with prompting the waiters every time you need something.

This place has the best vegetarian Pho broth. Ever. I know for a fact that the broth is made fresh every day and made with tons of root vegetables and whole spices. No watery broth here. For that, I give this place five stars. So, so many pho places have cheap, artificial tasting pho broth. Where is the love? It's at Pho Cyclo, that's where. Sure the servers can be abrupt sometimes, it's a pho place, get over it. There are servers here who are friendly and helpful. I order lunch here almost every week and I highly, highly recommend it.

Got the Pork Banh Mi sandwich. This was very very good it is hard to find on the menu on the bottom almost as a after thought it just says sandwiches not banh mi. As said in another review the parking is a nightmare just like every were on broadway. I had good service and good food and would go back.

This pho place has never been my favorite. But - it's not bad, and although it took nearly an hour to get our food - call me crazy, but I'll be back! So my buddy and fellow yelper with my same name, Nick G. and I, hit up Capitol Hill and decided on pho.....walked by Pho 900 and it was closed! Bummer. Kept walking down Bd'way and I remembered Pho Cyclo....it was packed! We instantly get seated with menus and we're both starving. It was 6:10PM. By 6:30, Nick flagged down two different waitstaff to order, and around 10 minutes later, we ordered. This has never happened to either of us before. Yes, they were busy, but we watched 3 other parties walk out because they kept waiting. We actually were about to walk out - but after waiting that long...I figured what's the point... Lol, so 20 minutes later, our pho arrived! He ordered a small chicken pho, I ordered the large, but it came out in a small portion. Bringing it up to the waiter, I said no worries, just don't charge me extra. 2 minutes later, he brings out another huge bowl of chicken pho. So, basically, I got one small, and one large pho. But why did I eat them BOTH?! LOL! I have to say - it was really good. Lots of chicken, and excellent seasonings. Even though the wait sucked, the food was really good, and fatty over here loved being served double portion. Yum.

I will never go back - period. The service was terrible. 1. We asked for tea, a lady took the tea pot and never came back. It took over 15 min to get our order taken. 2. At dinner time (6pm), 3 staff having dinner at one of the tables!! when it was understaffed. 3. No one came to asked us any soda refills nor how our food was. I ordered #16 which is, Rice noodles, pork, lettuce, herbs, bean sprouts, ...etc. 4. I asked for no peanuts. They brought me the dish with peanuts, so they took it back and I had to wait while all my friends having their food. 5. The pork was completely cold when it came to me. 6. No lettuce, herbs, bean sprouts, were never in my bowl. 7. When I paid, I told the cashier, no lettuce, herbs, bean sprouts in my dish. The cashier did not even apologize and she made me pay the full price for it.

There's something different about their pho broth here. Whatever the secret ingredient is, it's perfect! The noodles are great too, not over or under cooked. Even though everyone seems to be a huge fan of Than Bros, I think their noodles taste bland. Pho Cyclo Cafe's noodles seem to absorb the broth without getting fat or soft. Oh and they play clubbing music on Sunday so for those of you that are hungover from a crazy night of partying the night before and looking for your pho fix, you'll feel right at home here... it's almost as if the party never ended :) I'm reserving the fifth star because I noticed the guy at the register was rolling spring rolls with his bare hands when we walked up to pay. He took our tender with those same bare hands and continued to roll the last of the spring rolls without washing them. Gross. Pho is awesome, but I'd refrain from ordering any of the appetizers.

First of all, I have actually never had poor service at Pho Cyclo. I have apparently just been very, very lucky. This was my first ~real~ pho experience, and it's still one of my favorites. I think the broth is a lot more flavorful than some other places. I only ever get pho tofu, which is quite good, but I've been informed that the meat is not very good. I'm not sure what that means, other than that my boyfriend and I now generally frequent Than Bros or 900. Also - this is the place that turned my mother onto pho forever!

This review is really all about the bun, or rice noodle dishes. My absolute favorite is #26 Bun Bo Xao! It is delicious!!! The bun bo xao is a bowl with rice noodles, garlic, onions, and lemon grass with stir fried beef on top! It also comes with a sauce on the side to mix in. The ingredients are fresh every time! The beef is cooked just right and it is flavorful! I love this dish! The spring rolls, fresh and fried are a good starter too! If you are not in the mood for beef, you can get the same thing with chicken and its just as tasty! As far as my favorite drink, I really like to order coconut juice. It tastes great and its fun to fish out the chunks of coconut! Since I'm such a person of habit, I didn't even realize that they have strawberry mint lemonade, but I plan on trying that one next time! One last thing is, I like that on a nice day, the outer windows completely open up and the restaurant has a nice open feeling!

Visiting from out of town when relatives took us here. The service was slow and confused. The menu has a nice selection of authentic and tasty sounding dishes. I ordered the number 5. When they brought it out, I was immediately disappointed. The pho broth looked greasy and had no flavorful smell. The broth was fairly tasteless. There was nothing special about this pho, I've had much, much better. Two other people in our group ordered noodle dishes and both were delicious. Go for the noodles, not for the pho.

This is my absolute favorite pho in Seattle. That being said, let me explain. First of all, they have very good broth and one of the most unusual pho bowls that I've ever had (pork, shrimp, quail egg, and squid). It's the #9 btw, if you're wondering. It's seriously the most interesting and tasty Vietnamese pho bowl I've ever had. The service here at first wasn't the best, but I've been to quite a few pho places and have found that it's somewhat a normal thing to have bad service at a pho place. However, after visiting this place regularly for a year, not only do they remember what I want, they shine when I walk through the door. I LOVE the lady that runs the place, and have to admit that she's wonderful and incredibly sweet when I'm there. If you're looking for good pho, this is the place. There are some places in the international district that have a slightly better broth, but their choices for combos aren't the same. Choose the 9 or 23 at Pho Cyclo and I promise you, a feeling of intense satisfaction will overwhelm you.

i really like the pho and pho cyclo! the noodles are perfectly chewy, the broth is nicely clear and edible. some pho broths are too chalk-full of MSG and too much fish sauce, it's difficult to enjoy the soup. i got the tai, eye round steak, and the beef was a nice thicker cut. in addition, they offer a ginger sauce that some friends add directly into the soup. i used it as a dip for my beef, it's a lil sweet and kicked up with fresh group ginger. this is definitely a first i've seen offerings of ginger sauce at a pho shop. they have a really great happy hour for beer and appetizers as well.

I do love the food here. Each time I go in, it's a tough choice between the rice dishes and the pho. The rice with grilled pork (on skewers) is very delicious. You also can't go wrong with the pho dishes. The fried rice is overpriced. Their eggrolls are the best I've had in Seattle. The only problem I have with the place is the wait staff. It's very difficult to get them to take my order, refill my water, or bring me the check.

If you have Pho in your name, you better make some good pho. The pho here isn't bad, but it's not even what I would consider to be good pho. However this is not the main issue with this place, it's the service! This is AMERICA, a place where good service is rewarded, something which can't be said about all countries. The service here is horrible. When I went I stood by the "wait to be seated" sign for several minutes while the waiters enjoyed some food and a conversation. The eventually came over and seated me, proceeded to forget about me, not bring me water, then get my order wrong on two counts. I am usually on the side of the servers as I myself was in this line of work, however this was just terrible. I never give no tip, NEVER, but this time I thought it would have been morally wrong to give a tip. WTF

Pho Cyclo has a lot of good things going for it. For me though, it's all about the beef Bahn Mi. Not only are these sandwiches delicious, but they come at a surprisingly cheap price (around 3.50). Plus, if you are dinning in, they come served with a side salad (though it does cost a bit more). You may jest at this cost for a sandwich that can be found for less than half of that price elsewhere, but you need to consider that Pho Cyclo is generally on the more expensive end of Vietnamese food. I believe this is in part warranted by the restaurant's prime Broadway location and diverse menu options. They serve up a good variety of entrees, appetizers and desserts. (It's always nice to wash down a meal with a sweet, creamy bubble tea.) And, for those of you wondering, I would say that Pho Than Brothers serves up way better pho than this place while still being at least a dollar cheaper. Still, if you are looking for some good food at a place that offers a nice range of options, you will not be disappointed with Pho Cyclo.

There are a lot of Pho places in Seattle, and I truly believe this one is the icing on the cake. Generally I order the chicken pho with veggies. The chicken is not scrap chicken and the pho comes loaded with veggies. Oh and the broth is amazing. I don't find the service to be friendly, but the pho is just so dang good that it really doesn't matter. Every time I have eaten here there is tons of customers. Most pho places come with a free little pastry type dessert....not here. Again they don't need that extra fluff because the pho is high-quality. Yes the decor is cheesy, but I find that endearing.

Pho Cyclo had very tasty pho and spring rolls. I love that they have chicken spring rolls.

Great if you are eating in, take-out...not so much. Then again, isn't that true for most restaurants...Broth is complex, menu options are easy to navigate. PLUS, they have great fresh rolls!

This is hands down my favorite Pho rest stop! Clean, fresh and fast! And I will forever be a fan of the Vietnamese healthy spring rolls! I have a fantasy that every time I opened my fridge there was one of those little gems sitting there staring at me in the mouth... but I'll save you from the rest of my fantasy details. It usually gets weird fast! In the summer they open up the wall and you can really get a nice breeze off of Broadway! Mmm... Goth, Patchouli, Transvestite funk! Yum!

I love the #31, It's a spicy tofu dish. big chunks of firm tofu marinated in a tasty, spicy sauce on top of rice noodles on top of lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, onion and radish. It comes with a light sauce to pour over the whole thing kinda like a salad. I prefer take-out really because the place seems kinda weird to me. The decor is too busy for my brain.

I'm torn...The food deserves 5 stars. It's always delicious and fresh. Best pho I've ever eaten. HOWEVER, everything else about the restaurant deserves a 1.5 at best. The service is the worst, and the restaurant always smells like somebody spilled bleach everywhere. Expect to wait 25-30 minutes (at least) for your pho, even if everyone at your table orders pho. As delicious as the food is, it's debatable whether it's worth the wait and loss of valuable brain cells that eating there will cause you.

As far as Pho goes in Seattle, this is by far one of the better places I have eaten at. Although I am completely bias since I live in "The OC" and pho cafes are literally on every street corner. So competition for tasty pho will determine if your business survives. Pho Cyclo...and no it's not pronouncer "cy-lo" as it is spelled. It's actually "cit-lo", the name of the trikes sitting in the restaurant. Regardless, the broth is pretty good, not overly seasoned, but YES there is MSG in the broth. The soup was well put together with a balance of noodles and meat. We also asked for blanched bean sprouts, onions in vinegar, and extra "fatty" broth. They had no problems bring everything as requested, this seems to be an issue with all the pho places in Seattle. Fortunately these were not unusual request if you know how to serve Pho properly.

So as of late I have been on a massive pho kick - I cannot seem to get enough pho in my life/bloodstream. I've tried Than Bros before, and the price is right but the taste and quality is lacking. Looking for slightly better options for Pho on Capitol Hill I discover Pho Cyclo. After my visit I must admit that I'm torn all Natalie Imbruglia style about this place because the food is very tasty but the service is absolutely atrocious. Upon walking in I was drowned in this super thick raw onion smell, which was a red flag to me as I abhor onions and made a mental note to ask for onion-less pho. Not really a big deal. But we're seated and are promptly given menus, drinks, silverware, etc, but that was the last we saw of our waitress for a while. We reviewed the menu and waited a good 15 minutes or so before our waitress returned to take our order. I did notion to her at one point to please come take our order, but she gave me the "1 second" finger and then didn't take our order for another 5 minutes or so. I was a little upset about that, but the place was busy and I felt somewhat forgiving. So we finally get to order, and I go into people watching mode and suddenly realize that every table in this restaurant is either missing or needing something from the wait staff. I see other patrons looking around with disgruntled faces, trying to get a waitress' attention, but never coming out on top. The pleas start emerging from the tables: "Can you please come take our order?" "Can we get some water? We're both out." "Could you get someone to wipe down this table?" "We're ready for the check now, please..." Nobody was given anything that they needed, every single table had to ASK to be provided basic restaurant service. Our dining experience was also full of neglect from the wait staff. We are eventually served our pho, but we don't have the typical condiment tray. Every table was full, so we couldn't take one from another spot, but our waitress never came back so that we could ask for anything. Our pho was spice-less this evening. :( We also spent the majority of the meal without water as we ran out rather quickly and were never refilled. Then once we got our bill and sent our waitress off with our credit card, she later brought back a different ticket for another table and hten proceeded to hand off our credit card to another table. The mix-up was eventually sorted out, but that was the cherry on top of the crappiest service in Seattle to date. I will say this. If I should ever decide to eat at this establishment again, I will do so only by using take out and will never ever subject myself to that wait staff again. WORST SERVICE IN SEATTLE. NOPE. I'm pretty sure kindergartners could do a better job of serving people than the wait staff at Pho Cyclo.

For me, Pho Cyclo is an excellent example of "you get what you pay for". Prices here are a touch higher than at a lot of hole-in-the-wall pho joints, but the quality of the food is worth an extra buck. I'm genuinely surprised to see so many mediocre Yelp reviews, as I've had plenty of Vietnamese food here in Seattle, and Pho Cyclo is at the top of my list. The bread for the banh mi is fluffy and fresh, and the sandwiches seem larger than those from other places. The pho has great flavor, and a bowl of the chicken version is a quintessential comfort food. Pho Cyclo has perfected the art of charbroiling their meats to just the right texture, each piece coated in a light but flavorful marinade glaze. I've never had a problem with the service here, nor have I had an extended wait time for seating or anything else. Undoubtedly Pho Cyclo will continue to be my go-to place for Vietnamese classics!

I really like the atmosphere at this place because it is spacious, clean, and they have a large menu. I am a fan, but must admit that their pho is not my favorite in town. It's good, but there's something about the broth in the chicken one that I don't particularly like compared to other places. Some people really love the different tasting broth but I think it's just alright. Worth trying out and seeing for yourself. What I do really like about this place is #19 on their menu..yum yum! The cold vermicelli noodles, with lettuce, peanuts, veggies, and your choice of teriyaki like meat is super delicious! Good, filling, yet light. The sauce you pour over it is great! I love a good sauce. I would highly recommend checking this dish out! They also have very good spring rolls. Service is fairly quick, prices are good, and you can ever order beer here. If you are on Capitol Hill, check this place out if you want something tasty, inexpensive, and light. ps- if you are interested in the pho cyclo musical soundtrack while you eat..check out Britney Spears, Rihanna, Katy Perry, and clubby tunes lol.

Very surprised at some of the dishes I have had here- positively so! Pho has been really great here, to my surprise because of the diverse menu. I prefer to Than Bros without reservation. Sandwiches are fantastic and cheap, and ready instantly- the bread is wonderful. go Pho Cyclo

I tried Pho for the first time here and LOVED it. Lots of flavor. I helped myself to my friends noodle bowl and spring rolls and must say those were pretty great also. Mmm..cilantro. Good food for cheap..can't complain even if the service was lacking. Totally wasn't expecting early 90's dance music to be playing, but it made Pho Cyclo endearing. Also, it was fun when several tables started singing along. Aw, bonding.

Pho Cyclo has a great interior covered in murals. The pho is second to none and may I highly recommend the crab and shrimp 'egg' roll? Wow! It's worth it to me to even pay for street parking sometimes but others I'll do some grocery shopping across the street at QFC... validation please :-)

AT ITS WORST. First and last will I come to this place. I didn't know what to make of the decor. Were they trying to be a pan-asian place but they're really not. I had a rice dish with beef. The beef was rouch and touch. Was that real beef, hmm i wonder. I took a few bites and wasn't satisfied. I hate wasting food but I had to leave the left overs. First impress made one lasting impression. WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP, next.

Went here on a recommendation from a Seattle resident and I haven't been really been a big fan of other similar places. Until I went here and had the special bun thit nuong. I was first taken by the charbroiled pork nicely marinated and grilled. The pickled carrot and daikon slaw was perfect complimenting the meat and matchstick sliced cucumbers. I would recommend this place to give it a try. Service was excellent and friendly. Food was served without much waiting. Great place.

Great food at a great price. Very casual. Ambiance is not the best, compared to other Vietnamese places in the city, but it's not bad. Service is not great, but not terrible. It's casual Vietnamese dining on Broadway. The food is what really stands out though.

A year and a half ago this was probably a 3-3.5 star place, solid but not great. It seems over the last year the quality has gradually gone downhill, yet every couple months we make the mistake of going here again. Our last trip produced an awful salad, nearly meatless beef sandwich and poor tasting spring rolls. I'm writing this review incase I forget how poor this was last time. Go to Pinto Bistro next door, much better.

I'm still exploring Pho in Caphill - I like this place over one other I can't remember the name of nearby because this serves rice - and I love ordering my pho with a side of steamed rice for the broth =) The flavor is average.

I came here and read a lot of the reviews before I ate. I don't know why everybody hates the service. The servers were attentive and nice. She gave me food recommendations and I like what she had recommended. They did get my order a little wrong (i asked for no onions) but she apologized and quickly brought out my meal. I had this flash fried shrimp appetizer and pho tai and is was good. I would most def return here.

When it comes to chain pho restaurants this is the only one I would dare go into. The food is actually really good. I have never been disappointed. Aside from the pho I also like the lemongrass chicken with rice noodles. I've also had it with the tofu. No complaints here, I love this place!

The service in here is highly questionable. Every time I've come here with a friend, it's taken us forever and six days to get our bill. We actually decided to bring out our sleeping bags and pillows last time we came. Not really. Instead, we had to go and retrieve someone to get the bill. Also, I know I'm a soft-spoken person, but not THAT soft spoken and one particular person always has a hard time understanding me. And I'm not gonna yell, right? I don't know if they're hard of hearing, or if they just don't speak much English, but either way, that person should not be taking orders. Coconut juice, dude. That's all I ever want. Anyway, the pho is alright! That's seriously all I got.

I like this place, the staff is friendly, the Pho is good and there is always plenty of space. their broth has a good flavor but I find there is some extra grease in there that can be a bit overwhelming...it's pretty consistently good though. I say it's a good choice.

I love the beautiful murals on the wall and the traditional Vietnamese cyclo displayed that is no longer a mode of transportation in Vietnam. I imagine the owners intended this place to be a home away from home, as it brings out the nostalgia and yearning for a time when things were simple, at least that would be how my Vietnamese parents would feel if I bring them here. As for the food, the pho and vermicelli is authentic and as good as any I've had. Service was good and attentive.

Looking for some good, tasty pho on the Hill? Look no more, I have found my spot. I normally order the usual pho with meatballs but I decided to branch out a little and ordered the charbroiled pork with rice noodles (#16, I think) - hit the spot! The pork flavoring reminded me of kalbi, except with pork instead. Still, it was very delicious along with the rice noodles and other fresh greens (lettuce, cilantro, green onions). Plus I love the sauce and how I can taste/smell the lemongrass, mmmm! They really know how to cook with that stuff. Anyway, I'm glad I branched out and definitely will be back for some more. Oh, I love the mural, too - I've never seen a pho joint with this kind of unique style.

Sorry Pho Cyclo Cafe, but I'm staying the pho away from you. I used to like this place. They weren't my favorite but would do in a pinch. However, I find the service here is not very good and the Pho isn't the greatest. Recently I had to order a diet pepsi three times from three different people before it showed up. The servers don't check on you after they've dropped off your meal and often leave one waiting quite a while for the check. The pho tai doesn't have thin slices of rare beef--it has thick slices of well-done beef.

I will give this place 2 stars. The food itself is nice. That is why I gave it 2 stars...and I am being kind with that. The service is sorely lacking. Would it hurt the wait staff to smile? Would it hurt the wait staff to avoid arguing in front of me? Would it hurt the wait staff to get my damned Pepsi refill after the third request for it? I really could not get out of that place fast enough. I generally tip well because I know wait staffing is a hard job and I appreciate that, but this time I left no tip, and I won't be going back. And I never did get that refill.

The service here is atrocious. I sat down, gave my order, and waited...and waited...and waited. Meanwhile people who came in after me were getting served, and it wasn't until I brought it to the staff's attention did I get my food. And it was wrong. I ordered the seafood eggrolls and they brought me the pork egg rolls. When I informed them of their mistake, they asked me "oh, are these alright? Do you want these?" I told them no, but they kept asking "do you want these?" Whatever, I took them and ended up giving them away on the street. I ordered the pho and it was ok. Not the best I've had, nor the worst. The steak was pretty meh but the broth was tasty enough. Don't go out of your way to go here.

I am a regular here. Always my go-to for a cheap, hot, delicious meal! Warning: Without fail, the soundtrack to your meal will be acoustic covers of early 2000s love songs. You will leave here pining after your middle school crush.

Love the food. The service is hit or miss. Sometimes you get a really friendly server who refills your drinks and sits you in the back corner because you have kids (I have a feisty toddler so I appreciate this) and sometimes you get someone who ignores you and talks with their co workers the entire time you are there. My reason for the low stars......the bathroom is disgusting!!!! I feel like I need a tetanus shot after leaving it. The same pee drips have been on the toilet for at least a year. Makes me concerned for how clean the kitchen is.

Ehhh, I've had better. My vegetarian pho was just ok. The veggies weren't cooked all the way and were hard, and I wished there was tofu in it. Service was a bit slow, and not so friendly. A small vegetarian pho was $6.50, which is more than I usually pay. I do like the view though, always a show going on at that bus stop right in front. I think I'll stick with Than Brothers for pho, but I may be back to try their other dishes.

  • Melissa C.

Best pho soup base in town! Do go there early since if they are busy that day, the soup will taste diluted towards the end of the day. Service is almost non-existent and if you customize the pho, my experience is 9/10 times they'll bring you the wrong things; but if you stick with ordering from the menu using the numbers then you'll be okay. Who really cares about service at a pho place anyway? I have been to numerous pho places world-wide and majority of them them have horrible services :p

We wandered here for a quick bite before a SIFF film. We had about 45mins before the movie started, so we had to MOVE. I've heard about Pho Cyclo for some time. It's open late'ish for those hankerin' for some pho. But they had other menu items, like rice dishes, noodle dishes, and of course...banh mi. The inside of the restaurant is huge and cute! Large murals paint a Vietnamese street (one of the nicer ones) and the windows open out onto the sidewalk on nice sunny days. The hub ordered lemon grass chicken with rice and I ordered a banh mi. Two fresh spring rolls to share. Of course, I had to ask if they had it 'dac biet' style..and busted out my Vietnamese to ask. The girl regretfully told me they did not. I then ordered pork and politely asked if we could get out of here within 30mins. In 5mins the rolls appear. They do have shrimp, which I am sometimes allergic to, but it was good. The dipping sauce was just okay...I like a nice thick creamy peanut sauce or else my mom's nuoc mam. A few moments pass and our entrees are here. Yay! Thank the hook-up that is using my native language. YUUUUS! (Not really though, I'm sure they are just that attentive, heh.) The pork banh mi was quite nice. The usual ingredients--fresh cilantro, pickled carrots/jicama, cucumber, jalapeno on a perfect baguette. Just enough BBQ pork with some crispiness and char from the grill. It also came with a side salad (did not know this) w/ a lite dressing and a whole sliced tomato. The hub's chicken was quite tasty and cooked to just right (I was a little skeptical because it came out so fast). We were in and out in 35mins, and it was about $15. :)

I'm never one to say no to pho. This place isn't bad, but Than Bros just a block down is much better in my opinion. The broth is unique to this location than any other pho place that I've been. I didn't have any problems with the service here -- I have to say that this is one of the first pho places I've been to that actually refilled my water. Usually it's a one cup, ration it through the meal deal. They gave our table free tea as well! As for the pho -- it's probably the slowest that I've ever had pho come out, although that makes sense since this restaurant isn't the usual pho factory that I've come to know. The decor and wall paintings are interesting, meant to look as if you're actually in an outdoor Vietnam cafe. The noodles were a bit tough and the portions aren't too large either. You come out with a large bowl and not a lot of substance in there. Another small pro is that this place is open so you won't come out drenched in pho smell when you're done.

I haven't had real pho in a while so I can't judge Pho Cycle on authenticity. But the quick service, huge portions and steaming broth made it the perfect place to duck in from the rain and enjoy a relaxing lunch.

Not the best but most certainly not the worst! Living near Cyclo is great because on cold winter days they're the closest pho spot to my house. They also have great bahn mi and delicious lemongrass dishes. Whether you want lunch or dinner here, they have a large menu with a great variety of options. Nothing I've eaten has ever been disappointing and they have pretty quick service to. You're in, then out! Perfect for people like me who get too lazy to cook at home.

This is easily the coolest pho place in Seattle. Here is why: 1. The walls are covered with murals. 2. There is a vintage, authentic (at least I assume so) Vietnamese taxi-bike in the restaurant. 3. That barbecued pork over rice dish. 4. Everyone goes there. So...you should, too, right? Like even hipsters that don't know what pho is but have been dying to gain some new good Instagram followers. hashtag pho.

I like Pho Cyclo, and appreciate that I don't feel like I'm walking into a health hazard when I dine here. The small is around 6 dollars- if you're going to complain about that being too expensive, come on, please stop. I also appreciate that they have entrees other than pho, and that they serve fresh and fried spring rolls. Definitely a good, convenient place to eat. The service is very Asian and minimal- bring you water, get your order, bring out the food, clear dishes, bring the check. If you want better service, go to a four star place. Parking is nonexistent- that's Broadway for you!

Solid fresh spring rolls with shrimp 'n pork. The chicken salad (lemongrass/charbroiled chicken) was good stuff. Motorcycle parking is just down the street. My table was slightly wobbly...

  • Coleena S.

One of two relatively close restaurants at which I can enjoy Pho. I like that the chicken is not sliced thin, but rather cooked and pulled. The serving size for a small is truly small. I would have preferred more noodles. On the other hand the other Vietnamese restaurant (which has better Pho) only serves Pho and nothing else. Pho Cyclo has the upper hand in that respect. I like their chicken banh mi, the pickles are delicious and the chicken very flavorful. Other items which are just "eh" to me are their bubble teas and Cafe sua da. I like it here when I want banh mi and that's when I'll settle for their pho, however in the winter months I may have to just go down the street for soup only days

my first venture into Pho Cyclo Cafe was a postive one! Located on a rather busy strip on Broadway in Cap Hill, this place boasts a nice airy interior and even an actual Cyclo as part of the decor. I started witht he Chiao Gao (fried egg roll) which was a much longer version than most places. Very yummy! I always get the pho with all the parts of the cow (rare beef, beef ball, beef tendon and beef tripe). They have a nice spicy chili sauce that it is served with that adds a nice balance to all the savoryness. As with all pho places, price are very reasonable. service did not seem to be an issue as it was prompt and friendly. will be back!

The food was pretty good and so was the price. The inattentive staff bump this rating from a 4 to a 3. It took a very long time to get seated and another time I just ended up leaving because it took too long (it wasn't because they were busy).

Can't comment on the pho, but I highly recommend the Bun Bo Xao. I might have done the white Russian people thing and totally butchered the name when ordering it, but that didn't stop it from being delicious (and if anyone did spit into it, I didn't notice). The shrimp spring rolls come with a delicious peanut sauce, which I almost wanted to eat by itself. Service is fairly quick, if not terribly personal , and the decor is pretty cool (we're talking giant murals with built-in LED lights). I would definitely come back.

I was pleasantly surprised to find such a quality Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Capitol Hill. I had the com cyclo which is a combo plate of various Vietnamese style grilled meats (pork, shrimp skewers, meatballs) with rice. The meats all had a nice charred/smoky flavor and was well seasoned. It's a lot of food for under $10--possibly enough to share. My only complaint would be that there is no fried egg.

I still like this place and it's obviously pretty good, since it's always packed and there is a line out the door. But this last visit cost them a star....service. I understand that it may take awhile to get a table and I thought the staff did a pretty good job of cleaning up the previous tables so that we could sit. However...three of us ordered pho and one got the noodles with egg rolls. The noodle dish came out 15 minutes before the pho and he was pretty much closing it out when the rest of the pho came out. I almost flagged down the staff to ask of it and the table behind us that was seated after us had their food before us. Stuff happens, but the time difference was significant and it is only pho. That said, I think I like this spot better than the one on Broadway...because it doesn't have that loud disco music playing.

wow 3.5 stars? this hurts my heart. this is genuinely my favorite pho spot - and i'm picky with my pho. i don't like to put anything in it but a squeeze of lime and it's pure perfection. did i mention there is NO MSG in their broth??? amazing!!! i loveeeeee their bun dishes too. i like the big combo with meatballs, grilled pork, shrimp, and shrimp cake - each item is amazing. love their eggrolls and their spring rolls too. def my go to spot for pho and i love how they open up the wall on beautiful seattle days.

If you want pho, i would go a few buildings down to Than Brothers, however if you're looking for a variety of vietnamese food this place is worth checking out. I got egg rolls, spring rolls, and beef Bun. Nothing was a standout but it was a good meal that met my cravings for vietnamese food. The decor is hilarious. At first i thought that the murals were just left over from whoever occupied the space before but then i realized that everything lit up and has vietnamese names to it. Someone obviously put a lot of thought into it (sadly).

Pho Cyclo is one of my go-to carry out spots. They do a solid job of to-go orders in the sense of timeliness, packaging, and the quality of food for the price. Unlike what you would intuitively do at a Vietnamese hole-in-the-wall, I never order Pho here. There are places to go for Pho and this isn't one of my top spots for that. For Pho or what the classic Seattle idea of what Pho is (read: cheap, flavorful, and full of stuff be it meat or veggies) go to Pho Bac ( yelp.com/biz/pho-bac-sea… ). What do I order here? -Fresh Spring Rolls with Pork and Shrimp -Crispy Spring Rolls (it has grilled garlic pork...yes) -Com Thit Nuong (charbroiled pork over rice) -Pork Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwich) -Tofu Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwich) I'm not a vegetarian, however their tofu banh mi is pretty solid and that should say something about that sandwich. A lot of people comment negatively about the service here. I can concur with everyone that the people aren't super friendly or able to communicate even, sometimes, but they get the job done and for what you are paying for the food it's not too surprising, to be honest. All-in-all Pho Cyclo is a solid spot on the hill that does good work, especially for take-out. I'd give the place a 3 1/2 star, but I'll bump it up seeing that I do find myself coming in often enough.

Definitely one of my top 5 Pho places in the Seattle Area. Their Steak pho is my favorite, pretty good quality meat and excellent broth. The Chicken pho is great too, I like that they give you a good amount of veggies with the chicken pho.

I so wanted to upgrade Pho Cyclo to 4 Stars, but they just didn't deliver. I did notice a few improvements last week: shiny new menus, the bathroom was a little less gross, and the servers were wearing matching bright green polos. However, our server was also clearly "green" (though prompt to seat us, bring out our food, and bring the bill). He barely spoke English, seemed a little flustered even though they weren't very busy, and actually had someone assist him when he brought out our food -- even though it was only two dishes (OK, I guess there were a couple sides, but still, I've never seen a waiter need help like that before in my life). We started with the spring rolls (2 for $3.75) which are pretty darn good and a good deal, even when not at the happy hour price. My boyfriend had the Spicy Tofu Curry ($6.50), and apparently loved it cause he cleaned his plate. It came with rice and a nice selection of vegetables. I hadn't tried the pho here so decided it was time. I had the small chicken pho (Pho Ga, $6.35) and it was a very generous serving. However, I didn't like it as much as the pho at Eastlake Teriyaki or Than Bros. I may not be a good judge since I just started eating pho this year, but it seemed a little bit lacking. Also, I wish there had been some inclusion of vegetables other than scallions (which I like) and regular white onions (which I always pick out). Still a 3 or 3.5 Star experience in my book.

Ordered to-go. Love how they packaged all the ingredients up separately in a sort-of DIY Pho Kit! Food was also delicious - had chicken and tofu Pho and fresh spring rolls. Yummy

This restaurant is one of my favorites. It's fast, cheap and convenient. A perfect combination for a student, professional, or just someone in kind of a hurry to get something good. Pho Cyclo is never empty (even 3pm!) but it also has never taken me more than 5-10 minutes to get seated, which I think is automatically a plus for any quasi-popular restaurant. The Broadway location has a beautiful mural on the wall and an extensive menu of great Vietnamese food that is served speedily every time. (Sometimes I feel like the food comes almost impossibly quickly after I've ordered!) If there, you can't leave without trying the fresh rolls - some of the best ever...we also recommend #25 and #26 (lemongrass meat served with fresh vegetables over rice vermicelli). For those out there visiting the Microsoft campus, the Building 121 cafe has a smaller version of this restaurant and it is absolutely phenomenal. They have chosen to serve only two of the normal menu items (pho and french sandwiches) but they execute on these perfectly. In fact, I don't think I would have ever discovered the sandwich without this cafeteria but it is a MUST TRY - they toast the french baguette before putting pulled meat, cucumber and cilantro along with an amazing soy-based sauce that is served made-to-perfection with a smile every time for the more than affordable price of $3.75. Take that, Eurest!

I love this place. The Tofu Bun is delicious and addictive. The portions are huge and I can rarely finish it all. The decor is outrageously awesome, over-the-top in a fantastic kind of way. People complain about the service. I've never had a problem but I don't exactly expect the servers to do much more than drop the food off and walk away--it costs like $8 to eat here. Another reason to keep coming back!

The first impression you get of Pho Cyclo Cafe is of a French corner bistro, in Vietnam. The exterior of a French bistro, in Vietnam, inside the restaurant. A tad quirky, perhaps a bit confusing, but definitely unique. It's not often away from Vegas that you go inside to get outside, but it works. I was going to order some cafe sua, the iced coffee that's more addictive than candied crack, but since the tea and water come free, I decided to stick to my budget. As a rule of thumb it's a safe bet to order the house special when it's your virgin trip, so pho cyclo was my choice du jour. Usually I don't like to add much to the broth because I want to the pho to speak to me, give me it's own personal story. Lots of places do pho, not that many do it well. For me, everything hinges on the broth first and the meat second. Welp, big win on both counts. I dug the just right mixture of salty-sweetness in the broth and adding the house chili sauce put it over the top. The steak was darn tasty and cooked to the right texture. The meatballs were so-so, but the tendon was great and I almost fell straight outta my chair when the fatty meat literally melted in my mouth. Worth. It. I'm ranking it right up there with White Center Pho in my book, and at under $8 for a large and under $7 for a small bowl it isn't gonna hurt your wallet much.

Good, cheap pho and excellent bubble teas. The vermicelli bowl is quite good as well. Not the best pho in the city (Pho Bac), but probably the best on Capitol Hill.

I'd say this is my favorite Pho place in the city for Pho noodles. It must be that the owner of Pho Cyclo Cafe realized that having a Pho noodle place on every block in the city calls for hefty competition, and that to be outstanding means just that, give the eater something worth remembering. Your bowl of Pho comes hot with a unique sauce on the side. It must be a secret because I have never seen it in any other Pho place. I never like to put too much sriracha or plum sauce into my bowl until I realize the flavor of the soup. This particular Pho bowl, with rare beef steak, didn't need anything. I dipped my tender and flavorful beef, which wasn't scorched dry, into the light and delightful sauce provided. This was by far the best tasting beef in a pho bowl I've ever had, and I have been eating Pho since I could hold chopsticks. The flavors were all balanced, subtle, scrumptious! Just enough star anise, green onions, and whatever else magic they brew. And besides the pho noodle bowl, the atmosphere is nice, relaxing and clean, plus the service staff was very friendly as well. p.s. bathroom is clean!

I'm not sure why people like this place. I had a major pho craving and this place seemed like the nicest of the bunch on broadway so in I went. Big mistake. My pho was so greasy and the broth was so loaded with MSG I thought I was going to die. An hour later, I ended up guzzling water in an attempt to dilute the "seasonings" they had put in my pho. MSG lovers, rejoice! This place is for you. For those looking for something more pure, I suggest pho bac down in the international district.

I was taken here by a friend who is a pho connoisseur and promised me the best pho EVER. I was skeptical but I went. I ordered a small pho from the "novice" side of the menu and it was brought out promptly by our friendly server. The small is quite large and is more than sufficient for one person. The basil and bean spouts were very fresh and it was accompanied by a small bowl of extra sauce to dip the meat into. Besides the pho being so very tasty, the decor is fun and bright with splashes of green spread throughout the place....even their spoons and chopsticks are green. Also, their huge sliding doors open up to the street so you get a nice breeze through the restaurant. If you're into pho....definitely check out this place! It is one of the best in Seattle.

2 Stars... 3 stars for food, 1 star for service/ambience (mostly for letting their fingers sink into my soup MULTIPLE times). The first server was careless & spilled shit as he was placing it on the table... and stuck his finger in the bowl as he was serving it. I just let it go since it was piping hot. The second server was a bit more friendly but when she picked up my bowl of leftover pho to put in a to-go container, she also let her thumb slip into my soup. The scuzzy looking floors aren't confidence inspiring... The food, however, was pretty good (spring rolls, vegetarian pho & #27).

THE RATING IS BASED ON ONE DISH - vermicelli with shrimp cakes. And they get 4 stars for it. Their service is a hit or miss. Most of the time I've been there, it wasn't that bad although I've had a server with an attitude with a capital A once - he wouldn't admit that he brought me a wrong dish and decided that it was my fault. When he finally realized (took me a few minutes to convince him) that it was his mistake, he didn't even say sorry to me and a different server brought me the right dish. How lovely. That experience almost made me stop going back there.... BUT, I just love their vermicelli. Damn. My friend pointed something out so I'm adding this story.... 4 of us went there 3 summers ago. My friend ordered a ginger ale but the server didn't bring it to us even after our food came. So we told her that the ginger ale isn't here yet. A couple of minutes later, the server came back and set something on our table. A little plateful of sliced ginger. We all stared at the plate, then looked at one another. We finally all bursted into tears of laughter - not to laugh at our server but at the situation we were in. She totally misunderstood what my friend wanted, but still was thoughtful enough (and creative) to slice a ginger for her. We agreed that we should respect her thoughtfulness and still paid decent tip. She probably thought "Why the heck does this customer want raw ginger???".

I love that I can walk here for dinner anytime I'm in the mood. I haven't tried the Pho yet, but the noodle dishes I've had have been a delight. I'm a fan of the Bun Thit Nuong (#16 - charbroiled pork over rice noodles). The pork is so tender and flavourful. I've also tried #28 which is pretty much the same thing, but with the addition of an egg roll. Yum!! The Bun/Com Tofu over rice noodles is delicious as well, and I don't generally go for the tofu option. The fresh spring rolls are really nice. I like the shrimp and pork combo. Keep in mind that there are two to an order (quite generous in size)... while I was there, one of the other customers reamed his server cos he had placed two orders (I heard him do it), but when the order came (two plates...each with two fresh rolls) he tried to tell the server he'd misunderstood his order. Silly... no need to be obnoxious!! Gosh!!! I can't wait for the next rainy day when I'm sure to be in the mood for Pho! I knocked a star off because service is kind of inconsistent.. I've been there when they were swamped and gotten quick service.. and I've gone when it was fairly quiet, and been ignored for what seemed like an eternity... bottom line, the food is fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. I'll keep coming back.

In general, their food and desserts are ok. I've had their pho, vermicelli dishes and che thai (dessert). Nothing spectacular though...personally, I think (1) Than Brothers pho is better, (2) vermicelli dish at Green Leaf is tastier and (3) I was told by the staff that their che thai dessert is from another restaurant/local vendor. I dinged them down to 2 stars based on their service. Service is usually not great, but the last time I went, I was treated rudely and haven't been there since.

If only Matthew Barney had made an 5-part art film called PhoMaster Cycle, it could have featured Vaseline and bahn mi sandwiches from here. I was visiting the old Sea-town for a week, and had sandwiches here twice. The first was perfectly spicy with tons of jalapenos, but not enough mayo, and the second was properly mayo-ed, but not enough jalapenos. So for inconsistency, I must take away a star. I sadly didn't have any Pho, but judging by the amount of people who were always there whenever I stopped by, my guess is that it's a-okay.

I've never had the Pho here (I go to Than Bros.), but I do like all the other dishes when I want something relatively quick and healthy... I've tried about 8 different things now and it's always been good. And I'm down with their Bahn Mi. The BIG negative: They use MSG. I'm not a fan of MSG, taste good while you're eating it, but about 20 minutes later - Bleeeeh!!!

I've only been here once but seet baby jesus how do they get so much flavor in such an innocent looking broth?! Pho Cyclo is your average pho place only they are spot on with their recipe. Lots of slurping and very little talking in the dining area. The ONLY thing I would have differently is if they offered cilantro with the assorment of condiments and fixin's they provide. There is some in the broth, but I'm a sucker for cilantro. No worries, I'll bring my own next time!

We lived around the corner from here, and we often order their banh mis. If you get them to go, you can't beat the price! I like their pho and it's nice to get something in a bit of a different style from Than Brothers every now and again (also very yummy pho!). I like their combo dishes too. In general, we have been happy with everything we got from them. They have high chairs too, so we would enjoy bringing our baby with us on occasion.

The food is pretty good, and there is quail egg on the menu which was just plain fun to eat. Weird space with no dividers or anything, just a lot of space with tables. Cheezy decoration. Wait staff wasn't very prompt, or good, but there was free tea. Good for lunch, not for a date.

I am completely addicted to this place. I keep meaning to oder the banh mi sandwich but I can't tear myself away from the glorious vegetable pho. I don't really know if the vegetable pho is vegetarian or not (there is one option with chicken broth) but I don't care. The broth has spices like nutmeg in it and little crispy shallots float on the top. It is awesome. There are tons of real vegetables in it with tofu and I actually can convince myself this is a healthy meal. The service is pretty good. Though you might want to to double check your bill before you pay it. I had a few mistakes on mine each time I've gone there. I give it four stars because it is the kind of meal I obsess over. I can't get enough of it. I want to go right now.

I've only been here once and that once was enough. Their pho is not the greatest but decent enough if you can't find any other pho places out there......;) When I had my pho there, it had an overload of MSG to it. Or so, it tasted like it. I couldn't even finish the whole thing without feeling as if I was going to faint. They served everyone tea but my table. When we asked for it, they said they didn't have anymore when they clearly brought out tea for everyone else. SUCKERS

I have such a love/hate relationship with Pho Cyclo. I love them because the food is usually pretty good but I hate them because their service eats balls & they make me want to throttle them. If you're in the mood to die of thirst because they never refill your empty water glass or if you feel up to sitting around for about 20-25 minutes after you're finished eating, this is the place for you!

I've been a long time fan of the place down the street (because I am a sucker for free cream puffs), but a friend convinced me to give this place a go. The pho was just fine. I had a #14, which is supposed to come with a pretty wide variety of meat. I'm not sure if they gave me my tendon though...unless it was much more tender than I was used to! What I really loved about this place was the atmosphere. They do their damnedest to try and make you feel like you are in a street cafe in Vietnam. The floor is covered in cobblestones and the tables have cool (though wobbly) cast iron chairs. My favorite touch is the HUGE wall mural of a life size city street scene, lit up with dozens of tiny bulbs. It is so cheesy it is wonderful. I'll definitely try this place again!

  • Iki T.

Over all, it is a good example of A-OK restaurant for me. At least their service as an Asian restaurant is not bad, and food comes quickly. Plus, you get both water and tea! (yay!) I was a bit annoyed by their music selections which are outdated Kelly Clarkson's songs and Wannabe by Spice GIrl! I hope they can put quieter music. Their food is kind of meaty and it seems like they don't pay too much attention to the freshness of vegetables they use. On the other hand, they use a lot of meat, so it should be good for meat lovers. (I'm more like a vegetarian) My bf liked their pork on a stick thing. (I don't remember the name) Their Pho is relatively expensive than other places, so you might wanna go to this place for other Vietnamese dishes. In conclusion, you don't wanna come to Broad way for this restaurant. But if you are somehow in the neighborhood and disparately want to eat Vietnamese food, then it may be a good idea to try out.

What a great place to sit and enjoy a steaming hot bowl of PHO! The day is a normal Seattle Spring day not to hot and not to cool, the front windows are open and the street is busy with lots of people going by. It is our 1st day in town and we have hooked up with a friend we have not seen in over 14 years, he live here but has never been to Pho Cyclo before. We order a lot of food for lunch but that OK we are in no rush. The Spring rolls come to the table are are very good and the peanut sauce is just right. The time has come for the Pho to show up at the table, it looks and smells great. The plate of sprouts, mint, and sauce is very fresh and taste! We spend time talking about the past and what we have been doing over the time we have been apart. The food is now gone, what a shame it was very good! Pho Cyclo Cafe is a great place to spend some time with a good friend and eating well also! Remember to eat well and live well and please no chains!

This place is cheap, delicious, and serves huge portion. As a result it is always packed . . . yet it is never hard to get a table! That's probably because of the incredibly rapid service. This is a great place to grab a quick meal while exploring Broadway up on Capitol hill.

I found this place when walking to QFC one day. This place is really good when you are looking for a fulfilling meal at a good price. I have tried my fare share of Pho, but this does stand out with my taste buds. The place is pretty well kept, a definite upgrade from other Pho places I have seen. Service is fast and friendly, and they always know when to fill your water when you need it. Will be coming here again soon, when the cold days get to me and my body is craving for some warm

This Pho restaurant is my favorite in Capitol Hill. That's saying alot with Than Bros.down the street and many more along the strip. The variety is fantastic. The pho has a different flavor then most. However, I'm writing this review to share a little known secret. They have Vietnamese sandwiches here for $2.75. These are full blow sub sandwiches with your choice of several meats. (Chicken, Pork, and Tofu) They are not on the menu and can only be found if you walk up to the counter and look down where they have a piece of paper taped to the counter. It's simply one of the cheapest sandwiches for the best quality and size your money can buy. Order one to go and head for the park.

I wish I could do halfsies. Well I wanted to go to Than Brothers but my host and his girlfriend wouldn't let me (it was too dinjy and smelled weird), wah. So we went here where they had been before. It was lovely. I don't know a ton about Pho but I enjoyed my soup and even enjoyed the techno music/ambiance.

I didn't make the connect between this restaurant and one in Sodo. Like Bryan, I always go to Than Brothers, never considering the shop down the street. Anyway, I was very pleased with the food and service. This is more expensive than Than Bros, but is definitely worth its price.

Went last night for a quick and cheap dinner. It was delicious! And really cheap. We got two small pho bowls and fresh spring rolls and it was under $20! The service was OK, we were waiting a little while to order but once we did the food came really fast. My only tip for first-timers is that you pay at the counter. We were briefly confused why they hadn't brought the check! And get the Pho tofu, it was really tasty!

Best. Pho Ga. Ever. Perfect broth with all the right seasonings (you can taste the star anise in the broth) and fried shallots to boot. Generous portion of shredded chicken breast. Fresh crisp herbs, bean sprouts and jalapenos to dump on top. Delicious punchy ginger sauce and juicy lime chunks to squirt on top. My mouth is watering while I type this. This stuff is better than the pho I had in freaking Ha Noi, Vietnam! No shizz!!!! Service can be spotty but screw it, when it's rainy and cold outside this stuff is my sunshine, folks. Oh, and the fresh spring rolls are knocked out, too.

Best quality meat in Pho around. Period. End of Sentence. Broth is good, custom chili sauce that comes with the pho is great, fresh ingredients. In certain ways the best Pho in Seattle. The service can be really bad. The meat is often left raw to sit in the broth and cook more, be sure to inspect the meat and let it sit if still pink.

Interior painting is cool and the lights in the wall are nice touch. Fresh spring rolls were excellent. Veggie pho was full of veggies and overall tasty. Service was solid. I'd like to try some more of the menu before throwing out a 5 stars. I will definitely go back to try the sandwiches and eat more spring rolls.

I've been coming to Pho Cyclo for the past 5 years and really enjoy eating here because it's consistent and clean~ I really enjoy their spring rolls.. the addition of chives is a nice touch and the ginger sauce they give you to add to the pho is a nice compliment, too! The broth is a tad sweeter than most other pho places but if you want something a little different than your regular pho, ramen, chanpon, udon, pasta.. you have someplace to go for some inventive pho!!! I also had one of their bun (rice vermicelli) dishes today with some grilled pork and it was really good!!!! The fish-sauce you pour over the rice is a tad sweeter than other places, but perhaps they cater to the "Americanized way of eating Vietnamese". Plus, if you go in the summertime, their wall opens up to the street so you can people-watch (and who doesn't enjoy people-watching on Capitol Hill?!?) and enjoy a nice, light meal. Nonetheless, always a good meal when I go.. a dollar more per bowl than most other pho places but the food is always consistent, as is the friendly staff and they give you complimentary hot tea~

This is probably the only place to get vegetarian pho where you don't have to order "extra" vegetables. It comes with a heaping helping of them and delicious thin-sliced tofu. The broth is deliciously garlicy and robust compared to other places. However the prices are higher too. What are going to do? You pay for what you get.

I have to agree on lack of service - While the food is absolutely great (pork bun every time - i just cant kick the habit) - it is almost a war to get their attention from the time you walk in the door to just after the food is delivered - after that you've disappeared. Even getting the bill takes too much time - pfft.

While the food here is good and the prices are reasonable, the service is awful. They ignore you for 15 min. When it's busy b/c they have two people staffed on 30 tables. Be prepared to wait.

I agree that the service was not great. And I have not tried the pho here, but my Vietnamese friend likes Than brothers better. The vermicelli bowls are great though -- I had a tofu bowl one time and a pork bowl yesterday, and they were both really flavorful, with good portions and fresh tasting ingredients.

Thanks to the other people that posted about this place, I went..... Best Pho I've had ever, the broth is far superior to all the other places I've been. The place has a nice interior too. I don't know what happened to Gregory C. but I was there during the busy lunch hour (Starbucks HQ is across the street) and we were served very quickly! We were in and out in 30 to 40 minutes. I'll go back to this place again when baseball season starts up!

Idk where the pho to start with this review, food is ok......the service is is terrible as pho,I went there for my very first time on a Sunday for lunch with my friends, after waiting for 15 minutes we finally got seated,me and my friend we both ordered the coconut bubble tea and some appetizers ,we got our appetizers and I ask our server for our drinks,he said they were coming,he took our orders and after a long wait we finally got our food but not our drinks,I asked(again)Where the pho our drinks were, the server replied again they were on their way, after we finished our food(which was good btw) with no drinks we finally got them with no apologies nothing, the drinks were just as disgusting as the manager's face after we complain about them, they tasted it like someone just douche their asshole with coconut milk and pour the waste in to a cup,the bitch had the nerve to talk back to me,she was like:that's fresh coconut bubble tea I made it myself,so they shouldn't be any problems,I was like You pho-king Bitch!!! There's 2 people complaining for the same shit,I ain't drinking this vagina water or whatever the pho it is and I better not get charge for it!!!! I'll never return to this pho-king place again, avoid at all cost!!!

The noodles and broth are not bad here, but this is the worst service I have ever received in my life. We were seated prior to close and about 10 minutes later, our food comes out in "to go" containers - imagine pho to go! GROSS! I was most shocked by the fact that we were never told that we could not eat there when we placed our order and then the waitress made a huge deal about giving me a bowl when I asked to eat the dinner that I paid for at the place. A fantastic alternative just a few blocks down is Pho Than Brothers - you will never go disappointed there. Pho Than closes at 9pm though, which is the only reason I tried this place....wish I hadn't :(

I'm from California so when I'm hungover on a Sunday morning I get myself a big, cheap, red, steaming bowl of menudo. Seeing as I can't on Capitol Hill, I am so thankful that I found this place. It's affordable (I only finish the "small" bowl that costs just a few dollars) and they have limited beer on happy hour for $2. This pho is refreeshing and tasty. Service is good and fast and I walk out feeling like a million bucks.

I used to really like this place. In fact, I used to love it. Good pho outside of the International District?! You can also get vermicelli bowl AND sandwiches?! Sign me up! I used to eat here all the time because it was only a 10 minute walk from my apt. Unfortunately, the honeymoon didn't last very long. First and foremost, the pho is just average. But I'll let it go. We can't all be pho connoisseurs. If you want your pho fix, I can definitely recommend Pho Cyclo. My favourite dish is the #24, basically the vermicelli bowl with everything: grilled pork, shrimp, meat ball and shrimp cakes. I'm addicted. One word of warning: it's VERY filling. The portion size is enough for two people. My biggest complaint about Pho Cyclo is the absolutely atrocious service! Otherwise, I would've given it 4 stars. It's slow, inattentive and they've gotten my order wrong way too many times. Every time I'm lured by rose-coloured memories of the vermicelli bowl, I leave with a bad taste in my mouth from the bad service. "Never again," I say. Only to return months later. Pho Cyclo is like an abusive relationship. You know it's bad for you, but quickly forget this because the sex is just too good!

I do not hesitate to visit Pho Cyclo Cafe, mainly because it is close to home and Seattle weather makes hot brothy soups a must. However, for work I am often in SoDo, and I frequent that branch of Pho Cyclo as well, Same menu's, same restaurant. In the SoDo location, I once went in with three work colleagues and we just stood there for five minutes. Every other time we have been seated by a host or server, so I of course expected this, but we were just left standing in the middle of a fairly crowded (but not full) dining room. Finally after being seated, we received no menus until ten minutes later after I asked for them. Fifteen or twenty minutes pass and a server takes our order. Nearly thirty minutes pass and we are served. That is pretty abysmal for a place that obviously makes a large part of its profit people on lunch breaks. My food was good as expected, number 9 I think. The broth is usually flavorful with lots of herbs and seasoning. My colleague, however, got the lemongrass chicken by my recommendation. It looked like cat food. There was one piece of meat that actually resembled chicken. Needless to say, after all this we didn't leave much of a gratuity. I have always had a good (not great) experience at the location on Capitol Hill, so if you have a choice stay north. Crap apparently flows downhill.

Unique decor, generally above industrial average service make this place a great choice for a quick eat in the Capital Hill area. The pho and spring rolls is okay at best. However this place still come as recommended in my book due to the service and cleanness of this restaurant. To really think about it this might be the best place for Vietnamese noodle within a reasonable radius.

I was really enjoying my coconut juice (yum) and vegetarian pho which had a great combination of vegetables and a really flavorful veggie broth when a large rat ran across the entire length of the restaurant. It crawled up on the rickshaw thing and looked right at me. Needless to say, I lost my appetite at that point. In a nutshell this place has average to indifferent service, a large mural of Vietnam covering one wall, pretty decent pho and possibly a rodent problem. I wish I would have gone to next door Ali Baba which is fantastic in every way.

Is it the best pho in the world? Probably not, but the Cyclo satisfies my pho cravings. And I love pho. The vermicelli bowls are pretty decent too. I get the pork with egg rolls or the lemon grass chicken one. Been coming here for years. I do think this place is better than Than Brothers and all the other pho places close to me. Wish they had bun bo hue though.

Meh... Came here for a second time because the bf and I really wanted pho and this was the closest pho restaurant. Unimpressed and overpriced pho... I guess that's what you should expect since it is Broadway. I ordered a large number 6 and it was decent, but nothing I would go back for. Too many other pho restaurants to choose from. Next time, we'll just take the drive and try out another place.

LOVE this place and the Bellevue location as well! Been to others like What the Pho & Pho Than but I think Pho Cyclo is the best of the 3. They have the most complete menu (apps, pho, ban mih, etc). Definitely worth the price! And this location serves beer and wine now. For newbies, I recommend a ban mih; be careful for the jalapeños.

pho is good, spring rolls are fresh, egg rolls are greasy but acceptable, fried rice is a must, while rice with beef is just so so. A plus for the staffs' friendliness

I'll gladly give a 4 or 5 if they improve the service. I know I'll be back. They know I'll be back. That's the problem. They took forever to do anything, even getting the check took 15 min. When we brought our cards to the old lady in charge, she dismissed us angrily. Awful awful service. Tasty food. Damn you.

I was hungry. I couldn't decide whether to go home and cook or eat out. I really wanted mushrooms and kind of Asian style mushrooms...hmmm. Where to go? Well it was a little chilly so although I am the furthest thing from a pho fan, Asian soup sounded great! Service: I totally love being ignored...NOT. Anyway, I was standing there looking at the menu for like a good minute before anyone even bothered to talk to me. However, after the woman noticed me, she was helpful enough and I got the food to go in under five minutes. Not bad. As a vegetarian, I am also really careful at these restaurants to specify exactly how I want my order. I can't tell you how many times I have ended up with something random... Menu: Pho usually appeals more to the meat eater. But, Pho Cycle Cafe had veggie pho along with other stir fry tofu and veggie items. Yay! Food: I open my food and see a pretty big tub of soup broth. They also packaged the bean sprouts, tofu, cauliflower, brocolli, peppers (hot), onions, and noodles in a little container. There was also a little sauce included that was very tasty. I was suprised at how flavorful the soup broth was and how tasty the fresh veggies and tofu in the soup were. I am not a pho expert, by any means, but I didn't think the noodles were how pho usually is. They were very thin. Price: Not bad. My small soup was about $7 and it was more than enough for dinner. Overall, it was a satisfying dinner. I was surprised at how enjoyable the soup was. It quenched my craving for mushrooms, Asian food, and a little warmth all at once!

The flavor of the pho broth here isnt for me but the bun bo xao is delicious. The bun bo galic beef is flavored and cooked just right with the perfect ratio of fixins'. I'll be coming back for that dish!

I had my usual veggie pho dining in. Average portions, average price. ($6.75) pretty good pho, not outstanding. No refills on my water, but the server was at least nice. Nothing horrible, nothing too special. Bubble tea was out on both flavors I wanted :( unprofessional... Probably wont go back.

My experience was very poor at this restaurant. I typically only post very positive reviews on Yelp, but felt this experience was worthy of sharing with other foodies. The food was just okay, but the service at this restaurant was pitiful. Pho is typically a quick meal, but my mom and I waited about 45 minutes for our food before we had to ask the server about our orders. When we asked, we were informed that they forgot to place our order. The server did not offer any sort of apology and we continued to wait a normal amount of time yet again to receive our food. Even getting the bill to get out of there was a struggle. The staff was incredibly unfriendly and the wait time was unrealistic to get our food, which was simply mediocre. I will never give them my business again. Every restaurant makes this mistake at one point or another and it's understandable, but it was the attitude and lack of care in their response to my mother and I that lead me to believe this restaurant does not value its customers.

Good Lord, this place has more than two stars? People that go here must not give two craps about receiving even sub-par service. I would give this place at least 2 stars for sub-par service if I had received it, but what I got when I came here was a 20 minute wait for our Pho to come to our table, our appetizers that we ordered came out AFTER we had finished our Pho (and we had to remind the servers twice that we had even ordered them at all) and if we wanted anything at all, like more water or even to remind the wait staff that we had ordered appetizers, we would have to get up and walk around looking for them cause they were nowhere in sight. Getting the check was a task as well. As far as the food goes, the "special seasonal" eggrolls are basically just defrosted frozen junk and the Pho itself was MEH because we didnt even get the accompaniments that come along with it, just basil and a lime, and definitely not enough for the entire table. Another thing, I went to the bathroom and there was a girl on her phone talking to someone about how she was at this place and the service was terrible, so at least I know it wasn't just me. No no no. Go somewhere else for your Pho fix. This is not the place. Pho is supposed to be about getting in, having a great bowl of noodles and getting out and on with life. It is not supposed to be an hourlong process with cardio worked in cause you have to walk around looking for the staff. I wish I could forget this place.

I visited this cafe for the first time today in a long while and was impressed with the friendliness, the speed of service and the menu choice. In addition to pho, they have stir fry and other dishes. The free tea is a nice touch too. I was also able to sit where I liked, unlike at Pho Than :)

  • Derek L.

Realy..........Oh well, at least I ate here and won't be back for their Pho. Pho is normal and the broth don't have that WOW in it. If you have to add fish sauce to sweet the broth than it's not good. Service is good so I added another star.

One of the worse pho I have ever had. Ever. I have had better pho in Louisville, Kentucky! It is as far away from real pho in Vietnam as you can get. The broth is bland and boring. Diluted down and compensated with msg. Might as well cook a pot of boiling water with msg and save yourself the $7/8. The meat is THE WORSE in Seattle! Cut thick and big. Chewy and gamey. More rubber than beef-like. On top of the dismal quality. I was also told by one of the servers the employees are paid $7/hr under the table and not a dime of tips gets to them! Come on, Seattle.

  • Lars L.

I've been eating here for years, the food is amazing, but they could sure use a revamp on customer service!!!!! Check your togo orders they online order/costumer service face to face is one star, pick Yer game or I'll walk a block and have Thai!

  • Michael R.

I was turned on to this place by a friend and it is one of my favorite places for pho in Seattle now. I have been back multiple times and the food is always good. Their broth is tasty. The price for what you get is great. You get a lot, I always struggle to finish because you get so much. The service is pretty good but could be better. Not bad enough to keep me from going again.

  • Ella T.

So I am usually a Than brother regular. I dare say after trying this place I might like it better for a few reasons. As far as pho goes pho is pho is pho. So I say the pho is about the same. I like that there's a more extensive menu. Lots of options to choose from making it more then just a pho place. You get free tea. Huge tea fan and love that it's complimentary. Had a great overall experience and plan to return soon!

  • Scott R.

Good but not great. Still looking for that perfect Pho place. I would definitely return here, especially since it's so close to me, but I will still try others. They have pretty cool decorations inside and a nice little mural. The Bubble yea is frozen, which I'm used to liquid, so just fyi.

  • Jennah H.

Let's me start by saying I LOVED the Vietnam cityscape mural... Definitely a Fun atmosphere. Came for early dinner on a Saturday and there were plenty of tables. We hit happy hour and got egg rolls and chicken lettuce wraps and they were very tasty! My first time having pho and it was delicious - great tender steak and good flavor, large portions. Chicken pho was good too! They also serve tea when you sit down which is a nice touch. Would recommend!

It's insane that I haven't written a review here already. I come here a few times a week to be honest. The pho here and coffee bubble tea are to die for. Service is okay, They always drop off the bill while I'm still eating. Like what if I want to order something else? But the pho is so good, I really don't care what they do.

    (4)
  • Paul V.

Tried the Pho Ga and it was so so. Chicken was a bit dry, not much noodle, and the broth was bland. Been here before for the veg pho, which was amazing. Unfortunately if it weren't for the service, prompt food delivery and complimentary green tea, I would have given it lower star rating. Them again, I didn't come for the tea nor service but the Pho. Too generous.

  • Natasha M.

Sure this place looks nice and has an extensive menu, but I am terribly disappointed in the take out pho. I was trying to go to Pho Than Brothers, but they were closed, and I think for good. FIRST they're only pho vegetarian option is tofu. Thats is tofu and green onion. No actual vegetables, AND the only broth options are chicken or beef. Which is practically defeating the purpose. Second, broth sucks. Its bland. Third, the noodles were way too chewy. They've been in my bowl for 10 minutes now and are just starting to be not chewy. Four, it cost way too much for a small bowl of pho. Pho Than would have been $6, this was over $8. It may be just two dollars to other people, but for me that two dollars for an inferior bowl of pho is just not cool. Over all I am not a fan. I will find somewhere else next time.

I have been eating at PhoCycloCafe for over 10 years, at the Sodo location and the Capital Hill location. The vegetarian options are awesome, spicy tufu #31, tufu spring rolls, which I could eat everyday, and the sandwiches are delicious! I love that the food is fresh and fast and you can order on-line for pickup! I eat there about once a week!

  • Lee K.

I absolutely love Pho Cyclo!! They are fast and the food is great!!! I always get the #11 with tofu and the shrimp and pork spring rolls !! This has to be the #1 place to go on a cold or rainy day!!!

  • Dominic D.

Maybe I should have gotten some pho to go based on others reviews. I got a bahn mi pork sandwich and a taro bubble tea. The flavors were right and and everything was tasty... I just wish there was more sandwich and less bread. The bubble tea was a frozen slushy which was ok considering it was warm that day but i wish they had an option for it not to be. Solid 3 stars

  • Shriram P.

Totally love the Vegetarian Pho. The broth is so aromatic, complex and flavorful! This specific cafe is much bigger, the one in Bellevue is much smaller. In any case, I order ONLY 2 things here: Vegetarian Pho and Vegetarian Bahn Mi Sanwich. My only complain is that in a small potion, he gives more noodles less broth. The large paotion seems to be perfect. Looks like he puts the same amount of noodles in both the potions, and he adds more broth for the large one. In any case, I am happy.

It was a cold day (surprise, surprise) and how else to remedy that but to get some pho? Service: Typical Vietnamese restaurant service - not amazing but there when you need them Food: 1. Curry Fried RIce with Pineapples: Pretty bad. The rice tasted like leftovers from a couple days ago. Only had a couple rare spoonfuls of lukewarm rice mixed with room temperature rice 2. Pho Tai with meatballs: Can't really mess up rare steak pho, but their "rare" steak came out chewy and overcooked. Noodles were on the hard side and didn't get softer as the meal progressed. Flavor was basically non-existant and tasted like cheap powdered pho broth seasoning. Even after adding tons of sauce, it still didn't mask the poorly cooked pho. Meatballs were alright, but all you have to do is heat it up in water. Bottom Line: I came here because it was conveniently located where I was, but I would recommend making a further trip in order to get better pho.

I have only had the banh mi here. Banh Mi is my obsession and ever since I have moved to Seattle I have been on the prowl for a good banh mi, and as of yet, my quest has been failing. The banh mi here has an overall good flavor, but the bread is awful... it should be light and airy but it is dense. Really difficult to eat and not crispy at all. The meat is also kind of sketch. It tastes all right, but you can tell its low quality. On top of that the people are rude. I had a lot of stuff and was struggling to open the door and no one helped me open it. Just stood there watching. Same thing on the way out.

I like Pho Cyclo. We go here often when in the mood for Vietnamese in our hood. The service is decent. The food pretty good. - I like getting the bun there - extra salad, less noodles of course. - All their rice dishes are good. - Salad roll is tasty and minty (doesn't have the fancy wonton skin in the middle tho) - Haven't really had the pho there, tho I should (I go to Than Bros for that). - Hmm what else, I like the food. Bubble teas are also here - though not my favorite here... (can't remember why). Must try the bahn mi next time here. Great cheesy music usually.

I have been eating here since they opened. While some dishes used to offer good value, the food can be hit or big miss. The pho is fine but it costs more than other places. Their charbroiled meat can be overcooked, burnt, or worse yet like the last time, spoiled. I don't think I will be back for a while.

I use to come here 8 years ago while in college and loved it, great food and service. I recently came back to Seattle with work after being away for 3 years and have tried eating here several times. Food isn't as good and customer service is awful! Fire the staff and get some new help.

Love the shrimp cakes here. The pho is good, but I always come here for the noodle dishes with Vietnamese BBQ. It's quite cheap and filling.

This place is a pho-king good deal. I'm not an experienced enough pho-eater to rate this place on authenticity, but I do know a good deal when I see one. A big, warm, bowl of flavorful soup with steak for under $7 is a fantastic deal. There is zero to no ambiance, so if you're looking for a quaint and cozy joint, I'd look elsewhere. But if all you care about is a delicious bowl of pho with endless free hot tea, this will do the trick. I've also had the roast pork bun dish and it was dynamite. Even better than their pho.

  • Jane D.

Really bad service, they yell at you from accross the restraurant to tell you to sit down but it says please wait to be seated... Kinda weird. Anyways this place has delicious pho and egg rolls, I am a pho phanatic and let me tell you, this was some of the best. Good portions and also comes with a ginger chili sauce which is not custom. However it added just the right spice and flavor 5 stars for food, 0 for service :/

Tasty stuff! After trying this, I can't help but compare to than brothers, and I have to say that than brothers still wins. The atmosphere here is great along with the nice local setting, but it is a bit pricey compared to than brothers. The smallest bowl size is huge, but than brothers stills gives you a better deal. The menu here has much more variety, and I suggest that you give it a try for yourself.

It had been years since I've originally visited Pho Cyclo at the SoDo location. This time I had lunch at the Capitol Hill location with a former co-worker and a college friend. Time to get reacquainted with PC. Can't believe I scored parking on Broadway across the street from the restaurant - I consider that a good sign! We arrived around noon 11/19/13 and were warmly greeted, brought menus, water and tea upon selecting our table. Within 80 minutes, the dining room was full. Clearly a lunch favorite on Capitol Hill. Former co-worker ordered her favorite vegetarian pho (small, $6.85), I ordered the shrimp/pork wonton and noodle soup (#85, small, $6.85), and college friend ordered the com thit nuong - seasoned, grilled pork with steamed rice (#33, $8.25). The warm dishes and conversation hit the spot on a cold, wet day. I enjoyed my selection as it had flavorful clear broth, served piping hot with generous shrimp, vegies, wontons and noodles. And of course, the requisite sides to customize one's soup (basil, onions, bean sprouts, chili sauce). Messy to slurp as I am not adept or graceful with chopsticks and spoon, but thankfully I think I didn't splatter the others. Service was fairly unobtrusive with regards to speedy arrival of our order, water refills and getting our check. Probably the only drawback was how chilly the restaurant (large dining area with large windows facing Broadway) was despite leaving my jacket on despite many layers underneath plus there was a portable space heater nearby. That made the tea and soup even more desirable and satisfying.

Definitely my go to pho joint on the hill. With so many tables, you'll (almost) never have to wait to get a seat. The pho is definitely delicious, but I actually love coming here for the bun, fresh and light noodle salad. I prefer bun with lemongrass chicken, the flavor of the chicken with the fish sauce dressing add a side of fried egg roll, yum! Even when I'm craving the warmth of a bowl of pho, when I sit down at Pho Cyclo, it's hard not to order the bun. Speaking of, the service is quick and my food is now here. Happy eating to you!

  • Rachel H.

Tasteless broth. For me a great pho place can be judged by the broth first, and here at Pho Cyclo Cafe, the broth tastes like nothing much. Both the service and ambiance are lacking. I use Yelp to help me separate the good from the bad, but in this case, that just didn't pan out. I soooo hate to waste a meal. My suggestion is to not waste yours.

Yup, this place continues to rock my tofu-banh-mi-centered world. Also, their bun is delicious and they (usually) do a solid job on the summer rolls. I could eat those suckers all day! The bun is also really good, and the price is always right.

Just what I needed... pho... when I was starving., but didn't want anything to heavy... starving, but didn't want anything greasy... starving, but definitely wanted to watch the veggie/ meat ratio with which I normally eat. During my visit to Seattle, I saw many pho restaurants lining the streets of Capitol Hill. This made me happy... competition always raises the bar and encourages higher quality! After completing my pedi... I decided I wanted to eat with my girlfriends, and we decided to try out this gem. What I loved: - the waiters were incredibly sweet, helpful and attentive - the walls have an amazing mural/ painting that is abstractedly 3D and makes you feel like the restaurant is actually 3x its size - the PHO was amazing!!! While I can never finish a large bowl of the beef pho, I always try, and I felt compelled to try again! - the thin slices of meat, the noodles, and the condiments were all perfect and I loved it! - the price! I'm always astounded by how cheap such great food is. :) You were probably waiting on a list of things I didn't love... that is actually impossible to make, because I can't wait to go again!

I'm certainly not giving them any stars for their pho which is just meh last time I checked. Their vermicelli though? Divine! Wonderfully seasoned grilled shrimp and pork skewers which are very user-friendly since they're not served WITH the skewer. Trust me, that can be a hazard. Loved the summer seasonal drinks of Fizzy Cilantro Lemonade and Strawberry Mint Lemonade - a nice refreshing change to thai iced tea. They do deserve some cred for not just serving pho alone but vermicelli is definitely their specialty. And I swear to the high heavens I wrote a review for them long ago and now it's disappeared, I'm losing my mind!

I went into this place, and waited to be seated. This guy working, pointed for me to sit at a table, as I was walking to the table, I realized that it was occupied, turned around and he was gone so I sat myself at another table near by. The lady that served me set tea and water out for me, but never once asked if I wanted something else to drink. I ordered pho with flank only (I don't like fatty meat at all) The bowl that I got came out filled and I mean filled with fatty meat, usually I don't say anything, but I could not eat it, so I asked him what some of the things were, he said fatty flank, and tendon. I told him that I wanted flank only. He asked me what number I ordered, and I told him I didn't order a number, I just ordered flank only. He was acting upset, but he remade it, and came back, saying "it was an honest mistake with an attitude". 1. I was not upset in any way, so why did he have to be so rude. 2. I didn't even ask him to make it again, he just took it, and replaced it, that was nice, but I didn't even ask him to, so again why such a bad attitude? My soup is back out, but he had walked off with the chop sticks, and so I asked a waitress for another set, and she nodded, and got someone else, another waitress came over, and I finally got something to eat my pho with. The broth is so salty, the flavors did not really blend together, and the meat was really tough. It was not aweful, but it was not really good either. Nobody came to check on me, or to see how I was doing. No one refilled my water or tea, and when the check came, she didn't say thank you, or nothing, she just left the bill on the table and walked off; um no tip, and they were not happy about that, sorry but poor service = NO TIP, and NO RETURN service from me...

Pho is plentiful in Seattle, but something about the broth at Pho Cyclo keeps me coming back here. I always hate to see people dumping in mass amounts of oyster sauce, sriratcha, or any other condiments before actually trying the broth. Some pho places their broth is weak, almost bouillon base tasting, but here you can taste that this was something simmered with bones and spice. I still add to the broth, bring me more limes!, but only to enhance flavor, not to give flavor where their was none before. I have not always been impressed with the service, one night it was downright bad service, but the food was, as it always is, amazing. So because the bill is rarely ever more than 20 bucks for 2 people I forgive the spotty service and continue to lovingly slurp up their pho.

Service is horrible! I'm sorry, but you should be better staffed on a Saturday! We walked in and wait to be seated. We stood around like idiots even though there were empty tables that could fit us. Asked for a high chair and they told us they only had 2, but they were being used. They told us that they'd bring one over when it was available. But they never did. We were seated but no menu's were given to us. We waited for a while but no one came back so we walked up to the counter to grab our own. Took forever to get our order in, and to get our food. It took us over 45mins from sit down to get our spring roll appetizers and Pho! This is a Pho shop not a steakhouse! Pretty ridiculous. To top everything off the broth tasted bland. I get that you're busy but horrible customer service and bland food will not bring people back. I will definitely not be going back there.

Great restaurant for to go orders. The pho is great! The broth is flavored well and doesn't need the hoisin sauce at all. I traditionally like the pho tai (rare steak) & meatball. Their spring rolls just okay- obviously premade and sometimes gummy. The egg rolls are freshly fried and hot. The beef salad is a flavorful healthy alternative. Although their beef is on top of a bed of large lettuce that looks like they just ripped off the stalk without even cutting! The pieces of lettuce was just enormous. My husband is also a fan of their bun (vermicelli noodles). The pork is also cooked thoroughly and well seasoned. The bathrooms are terribly dirty. Graffiti all over the walls and one stall did not even have a toilet paper dispenser. Yuck!! I repeat, take it to go!

Beautiful decor with huge mural paintings of Vietnam streets and very friendly polite service. It's nice that when it's good weather they open up the windows and doors. Reasonable prices but the pho here is just okay. Plenty of seating inside so there was no wait. The pho actually took awhile to come out which usually doesn't take too long at other places. I ordered the small #12 pho with rare steak, flank and fatty flank ($7). The bowl was smaller than I expected and I wasn't full afterwards. The broth flavor was lacking in my opinion. My boyfriend got the vermicelli noodle bowl with pork and egg roll ($9). The pork was tender and flavorful and the egg roll was average. I thought the vermicelli dish was better than the pho.

I ordered number 14 or 15, the one with everything in it (hey I'm asian, I eat weird stuff) and told the waiter to substitute rare steak with tofu. He nodded and smiled and said okay. My pho came with nothing but rare steak and tofu. Big deal, right? I'll just ask for the rest (tendon, tripe, tripe) plus I want extra jalapeno anyway, so I called the waiter then explain and ask...... Not until the 3rd waiter did I get my jalapeño, but the rest of my meat only has tripe and tendon in it, no brisket. While other people would just get up and walk away, I maintain composure and enjoy my pho without touching the rare steak. The cherry on top was when I was paying and they try to charge me extra for the rest of the meat I asked for. I was beyond pissed. Luckily the cashier is probably the smartest person working in there, she listened to my rant, understand and took off the extra charge. The food was okay, I still prefer my Than Brothers, but if you're in Capitol Hill area and just don't feel like driving or taking bus to U District then I guess you're stuck with this place.

This place is mostly pretty good. I got some special bowl with all kinds of stuff in it and it was great. Unfortunately, I also ordered some fish cake appetizer and it consisted of three small, dessicated bites of salty boogers and was one of the more expensive appetizer choices. On top of that, it came at the same time as my entree. This day was particularly warm and sunny so the front doors were open and there was outside seating. It was so nice to sit and watch all the people go by. The restrooms are effing disgusting, with graffiti and filth coating every wall.

The pho was decent, but I would never go back for it again. There are much better options for vietnamese food in the area.

This is my favorite pho in Seattle. I know that there are more "authentic" places to slurp down hot noodle soup, but most them do not have veggie options. I love all the veggies that Pho Cyclo puts in their soups. The place is clean and service is fast! The bahn mi is fantastic as well.

I have loved pho since I was a kid, and so pretty much any pho restaurant gets a positive review from me as long as it doesn't mess up too much. Pho Cyclo is just another one to add to the list. It's hard to determine how this restaurant ranks compared to all the other ones, but usually people eat at restaurants not to care about how delicious other places are. Evaluate Pho Cyclo by its own merits, and you'll probably be happy. I ordered a bowl of pho that took six minutes to arrive. It tasted very good, but there was not a whole lot even though I ordered the largest and most extensive bowl. For $12.10, I would like to leave a little fuller, but I'm not going to complain too much about it. The bathroom is clean and the walls are painted with a beautiful picture of what I can only assume to be a Vietnamese street. Yes, this is a nice pho restaurant, but aren't they all?

Pho Cyclo is my "go to" pho place in Capitol Hill. And when I worked in Sodo, it was my "go to" pho place down there! Never any complaints. Food always comes out quickly (even during the busy lunch rush), flavors are good, portions are fair, prices are competitive, menu is big enough for everyone. I pretty much order the same things every time I go -- beef pho with added veggies and sometimes the fresh shrimp spring rolls. If I'm not craving soup, I'll go for a vermicelli noodle bowl with pork skewers. NOM. I have never had a bad experience here. Both locations are fairly large, so waiting for a table is unusual, even during the lunch rush. Sometimes I'll call in an order for pick up, and they never forget the to go sauces or anything. Anytime I'm craving pho, this is where I think of first.

Sometimes a dirty Vietnamese restaurant is way better than a clean/fresh new one. This is the case for Pho Cyclo. It's nothing special inside, but it has good eggrolls and cheap traditional Vietnamese BBQ. I haven't had the pho, but I've had all the rice dishes and they're surprisingly good. It's typically pretty busy throughout the day but I think the best time is happy hour. You can usually get a seat easily and have cheap beer/appetizers for like half price. Recommend the Egg Roll, Shrimp Cake, and Lemongrass chicken. Probably all that for under $15.

This place is okay. It's miles better than Than Bros on Broadway, but it's not as good as Bamboo on 15th. If there are any other pho places within that little area, let me know because I'd be very interested in checking them out! But on to this place -- you can get a decent bowl of pho here for a good price. I got a small bowl of pho with everything for $8, which seems pretty par for the course here in Seattle. The broth is okay, and the meat quality is good. The tendon melted into the soup the way it's supposed to, and the rare beef and fatty steak were soft and mild in taste. The people who work here are nice, too! I eat here once every few months, and the other day I forgot my credit card, but the woman just said, "It's okay!" and didn't even take me up on my offer to leave my phone as collateral while I ran back home to get my wallet. (I came back 10 minutes later anyway to pay.) All in all, if you just want a quick pho fix, this place can do it for you!

As Yelp suggests for 2 stars, indeed: "Meh. I've experienced better." I've tried Pho Cyclo twice and I just don't care for it. Pros: Cuter ambiance than most pho places. No cream puff. Open later than Than Brothers. Cons: Broth lacks flavor. Don't like the meat.

3.5 stars, because it's not quite 4 stars. This place is right across the street from me, legit food here people. It's not Green Leaf, but it's quite OK. The menu is small, had trouble finding an appetizer I like, but the Pho are pretty good. #15 is the way to go, the fatty beef is very nice. I know most Pho places use these gross powder mix to make the broth, that you can get in any chinese supermarket for super cheap. It seriously grosses me out, but I love having warm broth in the cold damp Seattle weather. However, something about the broth here tastes quite real, maybe it's the fat drifting on the surface of the broth. Nice fancy here, just plain good Pho.

Found a roach nestled in our food! When we told the server, he took the plate away and offered us a replacement. No apology, barely seemed to care...never going back here!

Not a bad Pho spot on the hill! The space is rather large so I've never had an issue coming in and getting seated promptly. The menu is vast. Aside from Pho they have plenty of other noodle or wok type dishes. They all look great, plus they always have specials. I can only comment on the Pho and cream cheese seafood rolls thus far. The seafood/cream cheese rolls I was expecting more of the wonton crab Rangoon type but alas I was mistaken. They didn't taste at all like they had cream cheese in it. Rather, they simply tasted like seafood mush. Not the greatest. The Pho was pretty tasty. $9.05 for a large...which isn't terrible but slightly higher than some other places. I do enjoy that they give you plenty of meat. Slightly lacking on the noodles sometimes but the broth and everything is good and perfect for a cold Seattle day! Free jasmine tea with your meal is a nice touch. Overall good place hovering around 3.5 stars. Service can be quite slow here.

Meh. Pretty average. I ordered pho with rare beef and meatballs. It was bland which means I'm still searching for my go-to pho place in Seattle.

This is my go-to pho place in broadway. Very clean, friendly staff, has a little bit more of a modern feel to it than most pho places. I love that they have outside sitting especially because they're right on broadway. I've been coming here since college and I never have anything to complain about.

Its OK thats about it. For years I avoided even going here because it seemed to be the hipsters of cap hill's place to go and work on laptops while trying not to splatter soup on them. Keep in mind that I eat pho at least 3 times a week, and have developed a preference The broth is less flavorful than other pho places I've been to. Pho Than Bros is ,Bamboo, and Local Pho have way more flavorful broths. I do find the meat in the pho to taste a little fresher here.

This is my favorite place to eat Pho near the City. As far as flavor goes, I think that Pho Cyclo has the best broth. It's generally pretty flavorful and rich. I think you get plenty of noodles as well. The meat is generally pretty good and there are lots of different options for the conservative as well the more adventurous. I think that the layout is pretty comfortable, roomy, and I always get a kick out of the lit Saigon mural that is at this location as well as the SODO location. I wouldn't call this place "fine dining", but the tables are sturdy, it's pretty to look at and it's fairly clean. There are some minor "cons" to this restaurant. Parking can be a little difficult as it is on Broadway in Capitol Hill. Pricing is a hair higher here, than hole in the walls in the International District, but understandably so because of the location and the decor. However, it's still Pho and you will get more than you can eat without breaking the bank.

Food is good, service is absolutely awful. I suggest eating here if you're not in a hurry and you bring your own drinks. The entire staff is constantly running around but somehow manages to not actually do anything - it's strange. Food is always good but don't order anything spicy, you will never get a refill.

3 stars for the nice environment. It feels like the streets of Vietnam - brings back good memories of my trips to Hanoi. I got a small rare steak and meatball pho. I like that meatballs are an option for the pho, because many pho places charge extra for meatball, or don't mix meatball in combos with other meats. I was super disappointed when the bowl came. It was really small! It was basically one meat ball chopped up into 4 pieces. The rare steak came very much cooked and with only a few pieces. (Luckily, it wasn't too tough to chew through). The dish ended up being filling (surprising since I feel there were so little ingredients!), but for the price, quality and quantity, I will head to Pho Than Brothers across the street any day. (Unless of course you are on a date, then you should come here; the environment is much nicer).

I love pho. And this location could use some updates but overall the experience was fine. Their chicken spring roll is the best. They use Fresh grilled chicken over cold chicken like other pho restaurants.

80% of the time the soup is perfect, nice, hot, little bit sweet and favored just right. The other 20% of the time, the soup gets too salty and not hot enough. Overall this is the best pho in my opinion on capital hill.

This place is awesome. The decor is super cool. The people are very nice. The pho ga is excellent, vegetables always fresh and broth always tasty! We always get the egg rolls and they are delicious! They have a few locations all are equally good.

one of the best bowls of pho I've ever had- and I am Vietnamese. tried two appetizers, egg rolls and something else wrapped in crispy tofu skin, and both were pretty good. appetizer portions are on the small side, but priced accordingly. they also offer bubble teas, of which I ordered the green tea and it was surprisingly a little on the too sweet side. but the pho. holy goodness. amazing broth which is not over salted, noodles stayed chewy/al dente through the whole bowl, and the meat was so tender and tasted like it was of a very high quality (not something you find often since pho is usually a pretty cheap meal). pho is not rocket science, but perfecting those simple components makes all the difference. I will eat this meal so many times over until I'm 95% broth and noodles. LOVE!!!

This place is in my top picks for vegetarian pho. They load it up with tons of veggies and fried tofu. Even though it's pretty rare that I order vegetarian pho (unless I'm sharing with a veg friend), I find their broth tasty with a good variety of vegetables. Fresh spring rolls are a winning appetizer choice. If you make it to their happy hour, everything is super cheap. My usual is the small chicken pho (#7) with extra noodles + vegetable medley. I usually can't finish all the broth (nor do I try to) so I can take it home and use it to make a flavorful soup base for something else I cook. The broth here doesn't suck but it's not the best either. It's pretty apparent the service lacks a lot but if you've got the "nappy hair don't care" mindset you may enjoy the food here. The spicy tofu dish is actually spicy! I also don't think this place has heating because it's usually freezing. After I finish my pho I usually put my coat back on. I've never seen this place jam packed with people, so you're pretty much guaranteed a seat. Parking is whatever's clever.

The restaurant was quaint and cute, and a lot bigger than its competitor of Pho Than Brothers. There was no wait time. We came in on a Sunday evening, and the place was pretty decently busy. Even though we were seated quickly, service was very slow. I give this place an overall 3 because of how bad the service was here unfortunately. When we were ready to order, we had asked and told a waiter that we were ready to order; however, we had to wait until another waitress came by after waiting about 10 minutes until she finally came by to jot down our orders. After dinner was finished, we had waited 15 minutes long after everyone had finished eating with a pile of empty plates without anyone coming by to clear the table out or offer us the check. We also had to approach/basically chase down one of the waitresses to ask for the check IN ADDITION of having to bring the receipts and cards back to our own tables to be signed. The food came out at a decent time, no more than 5 or 10 minutes for everything to come out. They were also accommodating for my peanut allergy when I had to correct my order after placing it. Food rating is a definite 4. The food was tasty and we were given decent portions for the prices that we paid. There is complimentary tea that was refilled throughout our dinner, but strangely enough, our waters were not refilled throughout the dinner. End story: If you're looking for a decent Vietnamese place with good prices without any regards to time and service, then I would suggest trying out Pho Cyclo Cafe if you're in the area.

Meh. Just wasn't a fan of this pho place. I tried it twice, seeing if it would change. The first time, i got the flank and tendon. The broth was ok, just wasn't a huge fan of it. They also put a ton of noodles in it, and skip on the meat/tendon. I had to use a lot of sauce and seasoning to make the broth slightly favorable. The second time, I tried the chicken. Same exact thing. Broth was bland, and had to drown it with seasoning and hot sauce. Well, gave it 2 tries, and it was mediocre at best. Will I go back? Nahh I'm good.. I'll find another place.

This place is decent, but its not amazing. I went there for the vegetarian Pho and it was tasty without being too flavorful in any direction. I did need to add siracha and the lemon wedges in to boost all the things, and the thai basil too. Service was ok, it more a team effort than having one dedicated server. My husband had the meat pho and he said it was just ok. He did order a bubble tea, but it was so bad he had to throw it away after a few sips so please avoid their bubble tea (its all blended powder stuff anyway). Overall, its just ok. I didn't get a chance to compare this to Pho Then but I heard its better from a local friend. You won't have the worst meal of your life at this location, let's just say that :)

For those that are from Seattle, we are all familiar with the Than Brothers, a small bowl Of pho that cost about $6. However, with just about $2 more, you get fresher ingredients and tastier broth... And tea at no charge at pho cyclo. Even though I live closer to than brothers than pho cyclo, I think the half an hour block more of walking is worth it. They got the pho (#9) which is seafood, quail eggs and slices of pork that I always go for. And of course they have more than just pho (unlike than brothers) so when your company what's something not pho- it works for them. My husband usually get the grilled meat with rice plate. At the end, we both get what we want!

  • Sonja R.

I've been told the key to good Pho is the broth, these guys have excellent broth and what's more impressive is how tender the meat is. It's more $$ than Than Brothers but so worth it. They also have great char broiled pork with rice and a Lychee salad that is super fresh and sweet. Service is generally pretty fast, don't expect big smiles though, they are all normally running around a lot!

  • Katya L.

Slightly fancier than your average pho joint (read: Than Bros) Pho Cyclo has bahn mi sandwiches and noodle bowls in addition to just about every variety of pho that you can think of (except for, some reason, veggie pho). The prices are a bit higher, but the food is quality and the atmosphere is nice. The service is just okay, but you get hot tea when you come in from the frequent rain, and the kitchen works quickly. Last time I was here, I had the chicken pho with beef broth (I'm a rebel) and it was delightful, not to mention substantial enough for two meals. My friend had the pork lemongrass bowl, which looked delightful. They also have adult drinks *wink* and happy hour. If you're craving pho on the hill and want something a step above a hole-in-the-wall, Pho Cyclo is a very solid option.

The food was definitely tasty. My favorite things to order are the strawberry mint lemonade and the wonton noodle soup (I know right, in a pho restaurant?) the pho itself is a tad on the saltier side but still yummy. The food is always the real MVP. Though kind, service was slow and the restaurant wasn't even close to being busy. We ordered food to go midway through our meal and waited longer than our food we had there for it. I'd revisit them again though

I eat vegetarian pho and I did not like the vegetarian pho broth here! They have two options, veggie and tofu in chicken broth or in vegetable broth. It lacks flavor. This is not living up to what vegetarians rave about! It is really difficult to find delicious vegetarian broth. There is a better whole in the wall joint in Ballard! Or even Green Leaf in the ID. The fresh spring rolls were good and they have good service. Overall: ehhhhh it's alright

Interior was nice and definitely impressive (large scenic murals on the wall) but this place is quite costly for what you get!! Food was nothing spectacular, and the veggies that came with the pho was very minimal and sad looking. If you're looking for pho or com thit nuong I suggest looking elsewhere to get more out of your money.

Used to enjoy this place but the quality has gone WAY DOWNHILL. Just picked up a to go order for 2 banh mi and some tofu pho. Got home (3 blk walk) - Pho is ice cold and NO TOFU. When I called, the guy laughed. I won't be back. ZERO STARS WOULD BE MORE ACCURATE

I used to go to the one in SODO all the time. The sandwiches are just as good as they used to be! The dine in sandwiches comes with a salad. Salad was fresh but I'm not big on ice berg lettuce. We each had the grilled pork sandwich and we shared a creamy crab & seafood spring rolls. They serve 4 to an order with sweet chile sauce. Dinner for two was under $20!

Ive been here a few tiimes over the past few years. I think this place is alright is your big girl hungry and dont want to walk a little bit more to Pho Than Brothers. The broth at Pho Cyclo is alright. Once they serve you, they forget your existence but will give you your tab. If you want better quality, go to Pho Than Brothers.

Had a great lunch here for the first time a couple of weeks ago. There was rare Seattle snow on the ground and a warming bowl of pho sounded quite delicious. I tried the small #6 (rare beef and beef brisket) with veggies instead of noodles. I had actually never tried pho with veggies instead of noodles but was happy with the combination. It was warming and filling without being super heavy or putting me into a food coma going back to work. Several with me ordered their large bowls and I still don't know how one person can finish a whole one by themselves, even the smalls are huge. They bring you a lot of fresh topping and sauces and the food itself came out really fast for a group as large as ours. Service was good, food was good, price was good. Will be back!

I have eaten here twice recently. The first time I ordered a lemongrass beef bowl with rice instead of vermicelli which momentarily confused the waiter (why?) but it came out as ordered and I have to say was delicious. Came back two days later and ordered the same thing and was told, no we can't sub rice for noodles, order this other beef dish with rice instead it's the same thing. Well it came out and it was nothing like the lemongrass beef. We ended up walking out hungry after negative exchanges with multiple employees who were totally unhelpful and treated us like we were requesting "beefless beef" or something crazy and impossible to accommodate. It's just rice instead of noodles people! I'm kind of sad I can't go back because that lemongrass beef was tasty. The service is just too horrible. I agree with other reviews - the employees act like they are doing you a huge favor by taking your order and dumping your food unceremoniously in front of you. And good luck getting anyone's attention mid-meal without putting up a flare.

Slow slow slow. - past order & bill mix ups. Thought it might be ok today, because several seats open, but it's still incredibly slow. The staff aren't even on lunch freak like the last time we ate here. I knew this wasn't a good idea but my boyfriend wanted to try - I'm just going to refuse to do this again. Good food though but so slow (and I know slow). People seem nice here though; so I'm not knocking anything but based on personal experiences....

Chain Pho, but still delicious. I have never waited to be seated but I always wait more than I'd like for my check. The broth is flavored well here--- personally I prefer it over Pho Thanh Bros. Servings are great for the price. Definitely try the chili sauce they throw on the side with the pho. It's different and delicious.

Pho Dac Biet (#15)... Thin broth, more suitable for a chicken soup than a proper bowl of pho. Accompaniment of greens was lacking; basil, jalapeño, onion, and lime... that's it. Bean sprouts, coriander, cilantro, green onion absent. Their large serving was equivalent to a medium at most other pho restaurants yet more expensive than a large at those same restaurants. Their preparation of Pho is what I would emulate if I just needed to shovel out food to people who didn't know what they were supposed to be tasting and I wanted to maximize my profit. For a restaurant to have a dish featured in their name, I would expect that dish would be something that they would prepare well.

This was my first pho experience about 2 weeks ago and I was very impressed with how fast a table of 5 was served. The food was delicious and my dish was loaded with good stuff. I ordered mango bubble tea but they were out, so I was recommended to try the Taro flavor, which I never had before and it is now my favorite. For $12, I was very satisfied with my lunch. I've had pho since this and I waited to give a review until now since Pho Cyclo was my first, I needed something to compare it to. I will definitely go here again next time I am in the area. The atmosphere was nice, too.

It's pretty simple, Service Sucked but great Pho. We walked in with my dad on crutches only to wait in the entrance for 15 minuets without being greeted. Although we were behind another group who had been greeted it still would have been nice of them to say "be right with you". When seated we waited for about 10 mins for our order to be taken or water delivered. The server then greeted us by saying "You Ready?" Our food came out in a timely manor after that and it was perfect. Satisfied my Pho craving for sure.

I've heard so many good things about Pho Cyclo but I was frankly underwhelmed when I went there. My service was quick and my soup plentiful, but nothing about the experience really set itself apart from any other pho place I've been. I had the tofu, so it's possible that my order was just a bland one, but I just didn't feel like it was anything other than standard.

For about a year, Pho Cyclo Café served their food in my company cafeteria. This was where I was first introduced to Pho, and the life altering, "I can't believe I lived this long and never had," Bahn Mi sandwich. Sadly, they left the cafe never to return. Many complained. We were addicted to their delicious and fresh flavors. Their food was a very present diversion from the standards of the lunchtime cafeteria. Now we were a lost people, wandering the Eastside for some decent food with accessible parking. Since that time I've become a regular connoisseur of Pho, but have never again been favored by my culinary White Whale, the Banh Mi. It was easy enough to find if I went on a trek but never seemed to available at my favorite Vietnamese restaurants. Eventually I'd had enough. I needed this sandwich. I went to my nearest Pho Cyclo on Capitol Hill expecting my prize only to learn that it wasn't on the menu. What?! Noooooooooo! Only when the waiter came to take my order did I notice something odd. What the heck is a "dine-in sandwich with salad?" As she described the sandwich I said, "Banh Mi?!" She nodded, and I order enthusiastically. Apparently, it comes without salad for $2 less. The restaurant itself is very simple and nothing impressive. It's no different in decor, tempo, or execution from any Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to, but I think Pho Cyclo Café's food is terrific. It may not be the best but you won't be dissapointed. Their rolls and Pho are great, but you owe it to yourself to have their sandwich, especially if you've never done it before. I recommend chicken.

Really expensive for pho; not that tasty (totally bland broth); and the people who work there act like it's a total pain in the ass that you came in. I'd give it one star, but it is the closest pho place to where I live and that's worth something. Would be nice if the owners would step up their game though by hiring people who were at very least nice (and I mean like they would even say hello and act like they're happy to have my business) and be increasing the flavor of the broth. The broth is practically just hot water.

Good broth with their pho ga, not too salty. They have a mural on the wall which makes you feel like you are at the Venetian in Las Vegas, painted like a street scene in Italy. Parking can be a little challenging on Broadway, but their pho is good. The vietnamese spring rolls were also light and fresh with an excellent dipping sauce.

For a long time I've been sort of leery about Pho Cyclo. However, two recent outings have made me a bit of a convert. I get pho ga (yes, yes I know), and I really like the fact that the chicken is obviously pulled off the bone, and is not a processed/pressed deli meat. And the chicken just tastes like real chicken that someone put some care into cooking and preparing. The broth is very flavorful, well seasoned, not overly salty, not greasy. The service seems to vary here. Sometimes it seems like they want to take everything away before you're ready, and sometimes you have to beg for someone to refill your water and bring your check. But it's a pho house, not haute cuisine, so whatever. So long as they're serving up a good spicy hot broth, I'm cool.

  • Kate S.

I've been here several times and each time have had a good experience. The decor is tacky and weird, but unlike Tahn Bros, it's at least relatively clean. The wait staff are very busy so they don't make much conversation, which I like. I like to be left alone and not have my conversation with friens interrupted too often. You'll have to flag someone down if you need anything more than a water refill, but what's the problem? They're polite, take care of business and the food is delicious cheap, and quick.

If it wasn't for the ultra yummie and always fresh chicken spring rolls, young coconut juice, and their palette alluring broth, I would have said "Meh. I have experienced better". But OH EM GEE that broth! The spices kick it up a notch and Pho becomes Pho-king-spectacular. When I first tried this place, I could not get enough of it, during the summer I was frequenting this place three times a week, sweating over the steaming hot bowls of this heavenly spiced concoction that is something of a close relative to the all hated/loved ramen. The service is frequently close to horrid, and sometimes you don't get your bubble tea or vietnamese coffee until you are ready to leave. But HOT DAMN that broth has me coming back for more, always.

To my admission the pho is decent but the service is terrible. The staff there look pretty unhappy and their misery shows in the way you're being served as a paying customer. The woman who appears to be the manager there seems to dictate the overall mood there. I will never eat there again, it's not worth it.

This is my favorite place to get Pho in Seattle because it is convenient, consistent and their veggie pho is great. I always order the same thing: small veggie pho and sometimes tofu spring rolls. They have never disappointed. I love this place.

I have been coming to Pho Cyclo for years. At first, just the one on 1st Ave. S. and now the Broadway location. I love their Pho and their stir-fry's are also really good. My 'usual' dishes are one of the following: Pho Tofu (w/ chicken broth), lemongrass chicken stir-fry, or the pork skewers (which comes w/ a light sauce that is perfect!). The lemongrass is pretty spicy, but the perfect 'kick'. The food is always consistently good at Pho Cyclo. It's just too bad the service wasn't the same. I agree w/ the previous posts that the service is slow. And it is weird how they do seem to ignore their customers at times. I can't tell if they just need to hire an additional wait person, or they are just that bad. In fact now I order immediately when they seat me to avoid any frustration. The food is worth it, though, as long as you bring your patience with you!

I got a large Pho Seafood, which has shrimp and squid. Very tasty. It comes with the roots, chilli peppers, and some spicy sauce on the side. It also comes with tea. I'm not that knowledgeable about Vietnamese food, but I liked the Pho since the first time I tried it, and this was a good example of one. The one thing I recommend is that unless you feel like your stomach can take A LOT of food at the moment, don't get the large, it's just too much. Additionally, I'd like to say that the service was pretty efficient, which to me always gives any establishment at least a couple of stars.

There is one dish, and one dish only that I come here for... it's the grilled pork over rice. I dunno why, but I think it's sooo good here. The pho here on the other hand... isn't quite as good as other places. How can a pho place mess up on the pho broth? Well, for starters, this place is WAY to CLEAN to be good... Sorry, that should actually be a good thing. However, there is an indirect ratio between cleanliness and flavor of the broth... don't ask me why. But back to the point, the broth here is a lil more plain. Not as layered as other places. Hard to describe, but there is a difference. It's not bad really, just not as good as other places. I've also tried summer rolls here and they were alright as well. Nothing very unique and sets it above the rest, but it's pretty standard. Even though cleanliness leads to docked points off flavor, it does have an overall good effect on the rating of this restaurant compared to other places. In addition to that, this place is one of the few pho places that actually tries to decorate itself. Worth checking out... you probably won't be impressed by the pho... I'd stick with the grilled pork over rice... Not sure I'd come here again just to venture off on other menu items... *thumbs up*!!

I used to eat Pho Cyclo every day on the Microsoft campus when they were in two of the buildings and that was consistently outstanding. I miss getting a Pho Ga Tam Bun or however it's spelled every day. So, it was a very cold and rainy day in Seattle and I was in a tremendously rotten mood. I went there with my book and needed some broth and noodle comfort, thinking I would get it at Pho Cyclo. I don't live far from there, and it's usually one of the best in the area. I lived life on the edge and got meatball Pho instead of the chicken pho that I normally get. The bowl came quickly, the broth and noodles were heaven, the meatballs - not so much. Good thing about the chicken - all white meat and consistently good. Meatball pho was a little bit more like slices of meatloaf than a meatball that I get other places. So, given that and the laissez faire service, I vote 4 stars.

Definitely my go to Pho joint on the Hill. . I like it here because of the 3 c's - (clean, convenient and cheap!) Most vietnamese joints are a little dirty especially in the ID. #14 (Fatty Flank Pho) is the bomb! All Pho's come with this special little bowl of spicy sauce that I dump right in. I also ask for extra spicy sauce so I can dip the meat in while eating the soup. If you want a starter, I'd recommend the fried eggs rolls. Their combo rice dishes (pork chops) and their Bun bowls (Shrimp & Pork) are outstanding. Lemongrass chicken is also very good if your not in the mood for Pho...

This used to be my go-to place for pho in Seattle. Things have changed, though. Overall, the food is good. Everything you order will be just fine. Nothing is mind-blowing, save for the veggie pho (pho chay), which is THE BEST in town. If you're a germ-o-phobe, this may be the cleanest pho spot you ever go to. There's really only one problem with this place: the service is inconsistent at best. When I began coming here about 5 years ago, I always received kind, expedient, quality treatment. Now, the experience is fraught with everything from lack of understanding to overt attitude. I'm not sure what happened, but with so many other options in town, it's hard for me to justify coming back. At present, the two best pho places I've EVER eaten at (anywhere, not just in Seattle) are Saigon Bistro & Green Leaf. However, both of those are in the International District, and living in Cap Hill with only a desire for something within walking distance means either this place, or a slight trek over to Ballet, where the food's almost as good (but not quite), and the service is miles beyond. For the record, Than Bros is the other obvious option on Cap Hill, and it's fine for straight-up Pho Tai, or Ga, but not much else.

Great value! Good soup! Definitely a spot to hit up when you are looking for Pho on broadway!

  • Marisa C.

I always drove past this place everytime I'm on broadway for something. Finally tonight was the day/night that I would give this place a try, since I haven't had pho in awhile. And of course one of my friend and her boyfriend seem to come here a lot when they want to grab some pho. Right when we walked in I was amazed by the mural on the walls and right at the back of this pho joint there was a painting of one of those black metal gates, it looks so surreal to me! I thought it was pretty neat :). Food was good, we ordered two #15 Pho Cyclo and the Seafood Eggrolls. YUMMMY! but a flaw is that in my bowl of pho, there was BARELY any tendon or tripe, I was very disappointed whenever I found a piece of tendon it was scraps of it. Not much. Although I will definitely come back for more!

This is my favorite pho place I've been to so far. The noodles aren't all clumped together and they bring you a tiny saucer of this delicious red sauce. Probably what sets this place apart from all the other pho places I've been to is the quality of the meat; head and shoulders above the rest. I always get the masters bowl and my gf gets regular chicken. The fresh spring rolls are also delicious, and nothing washes it all down better than fresh coconut juice with slices of coconut in it.

I think I used to like Pho Cyclo more a while back, as the broth seemed to be more flavorful a couple of years ago. Don't get me wrong, it's still decent... It just seems to be a little more bland these days. I'd still much rather come here than Than Bros just because their menu is more than just soup. I usually get the tofu fresh rolls with the peanut sauce for a starter, b/c you know... a big ass bowl of pho just isn't enough food. I always order the Veggie, which comes with sauteed garlic and green onion on top. The meat soups don't come with the garlic, which is one of the reasons I always go veg. Oh, and their shrimp fried rice is also fabulous and I think I'll be getting that next time. The service is very prompt and I've never not been attended to right away. A good 'ol standby for noods and/ or rice on the hill when you're NOT a fan of 'In the Bowl.'

  • Pete M.

The pho was ok. Could use a bit more flavor. Actually the fried tofu over rice noodles was the winner. The spring rolls were fresh and good too. Worth a try cause it's so cheap!

  • Charlie M.

The rice Noodle dishes are yummy. However service is always horrible here. The guys are lazy and never seem to smile! The older lady is nice occasionally. Don't expect to get additional service once you get your food.

  • Sara A.

As far as pho goes, this is my favorite. Sure, its not as cheap as Than Brothers, and no free cream puffs in sight! However, the veggie broth is so delicious - much more flavorful than the cheaper pho places. You can actually see the tasty morsels of garlic floating around in the broth, and the variety of veggies is great. A small bowl of this stuff goes far. This is also where I go to get my Britney Spears fix.

Alright guys here's the lowdown from a real Asian food connoisseur who is NOT a yuppie vegan brat that's never cooked: Fact: Hands down the best quality Pho within Seattle. I've been eating pho for over 15 years, in all parts of the world, AND I am a damn great cook (travel around Asia to learn authentic dishes and master them properly). Fact #2: The negative reviews here are from IDIOTS. Jesus Chris how stupid can these culinary idiots get? More below. All the negative reviews stem around 2 points: 1. The service is bad 2. The pho is not rich Here's my retorts: **************************************************************** Service **************************************************************** It's a family run Asian fast food type (yes Pho is fast food) restaurant. If you think the service is bad, you obviously haven't even been to an authentic Chinese restaurant and think orange chicken is real Chinese food. You will not get good service at ANY authentic Asian restaurant. It's just not part of the culture. Get used to it you spoiled brats. I've never had a bad experience because I know how to properly and amicably engage the overworked waitresses. Which brings us up to the next service point. You have to realize this is a small family run restaurant serving GREAT food at a ridiculously LOW price. To keep their prices low (no they are not making shitloads of profit), they keep their staffing low. Think about it, there's usually only 3 people running the ENTIRE show for a restaurant that gets busy as a bar during peak hours. You have to realize that in addition to being your lapdog waitresses, these 3 people are also COOKING IN THE KITCHEN. Yes, while you're sitting there crying about your water cup being 90% full, they're busting their asses to make the next fresh batch of rice noodles (yes, this is why the noodles here aren't clump up together at Pho Cyclo), prepping the garnishes, etc etc. Think about it, at a comparitively overpriced americanized asian restaurant of the same size (40 people seating), they'll have at least 4 cooks in the kitchen, a "chef", a cashier, and about 3-4 waiters = 10 people on staff. Your solution to "bad" service: Understand their situation and be thankful of the cheap prices. OR you can do what I do and go during OFF-PEAK hours you moron (seriously, why does noone think about this). I always get EXCELLENT service during off peak hours. **************************************************************** Quality of Pho **************************************************************** Those complaining about the Pho fall into 2 categories: 1. "The broth isn't like rich, teehee" 2. "OMFG, YOU DON'T HAVE VEGAN OPTIONS? WHAT ABOUT GLUTEN FREE? IS THIS ORGANIC? FARM RAISED? LOCALLY GROW? SUSTAINABLE? -list of other snobbish yuppie fads- " Point #1: These people do not understand the difference between Pho Cyclo's rich and CLARIFIED broth and pho thanh's digusting "rich" oily unfiltered mysterious floating gunk cloudy broth. They're inept kitchen retards that probably douse their white rice with gallons of soy sauce. Seriously. Those that have made a broth will immediately realize and amazed at how RICH with flavor Pho Cyclo's broth is. Yet, it is deceptively CLEAR because they go the extra mile to strain and clarify their broth. In my opinion, it's a tad overkill for a city filled with culinary idiots that think cloudy and greasy = quality. Point #2: Seriously, grow a pair of balls. If you're arrogant enough to demand gluten free or vegan from an authentic restaurant GTFO. Would you do the same with McDonalds? Go home and eat your overpriced sustainable organic wheatgrass you damn hipster yuppie cow. **************************************************************** In short, go during off peak hours (aka avoid lunch and dinner rush), and just be down to earth (aka don't be an snobbish hipster prick).

Been coming here regularly for the last few years and I'm now compelled to write a not-so-flattering review. This place has gone downhill. The food is still good but somehow there's a drop in quality. The noodles are either too mushy or undercooked. The service is so lacking. No pleasantries, slow, sometimes they'd forget your requests. The place seems to be neglected-- dirty floors, chairs, and then the bathroom! OMG!! I'm glad I only went in there after I've already eaten. It's so disgusting. I can't help wonder how clean their kitchen is!

  • Alysse E.

I am very surprised at all the good ratings. Maybe I was here on a bad day and need to go back and try it again? My food was terrible. The broth didn't even have color to it, it literally looked and tasted like plain hot water. Beef was flavorless, noodles tasted stale. I couldn't believe I was being charged money for my food at all, it was that bad. I couldn't believe anybody ever ate here. But it's clear from the other reviews something was wrong and I hit this spot at the worst moment ever.

  • Linda N.

The pho is ok... I've had better. I service was different. Waiter was helpful and nice, but the cashier guy was a total sob. Texted the whole time I was trying to pay them. I guess they don't really care that much about money. There are definitely better pho places on there. Try the International District. Good place for a quick fix but not if you want something authentic.

  • Marcia W.

So...maybe I'm spoiled because I've had (if not better, but at least) just as good pho that's cheaper else where. Pho from Pho Cyclo is not bad, but personally, I think you can find pho that's just as good at a lower price, and usually, you can find that just a few blocks away. Their rice dishes at Pho Cyclo are not bad. I enjoy the grill meat. I'm not sure if all the Pho Cyclos are the same, but I always get a kick out of the music they play there ... at least for the Capitol Hill one. There's a variety...from 80's, to Britney, to Backstreet Boys...to Vietnamese pop. I say, Pho Cyclo is alright, but not my 1st choice for pho.

    (3)
  • Tiffani M.

More expensive for a reason! It's the best darn pho place. I prefer bun (proper Vietnamese characters missing), and they have something like 7 varieties. With quality meat, and lots of good veggies. Mom likes the pineapple curry, and is never disappointed. $20 for 2 people with an appetizer and tea. Totally works for me!

I came in here yesterday to grab lunch to go. I was in the mood for their Rice with the Grilled Pork Chop (Com Thit Nuong). While their food is generally good, their customer service is not! One thing I have tried to overlook in the past is their rude service. But yesterday's visit has prompted me to write an update on this place. I walked in and walked up to the counter to order something to go and three servers just walked past me like I wasn't even there...no acknowledgement at all. And, they had sour looks on their faces. Finally after standing there for a few minutes, one of the female servers asked me what I wanted. I ordered my food and waited. It arrived timely but the rude customer service has really convinced me not to come here anymore. But I'm torn because this is the only decent Vietnamese restaurant that serves more than just Pho on Capitol Hill.

  • Isabella B.

My sister's friends suggested Pho Cyclo for dinner on my last night in Seattle. I had been here before but really couldn't recall anything significant so I took that as a good thing. I usually order a rice noodle bowl anytime I go to a Vietnamese restaurant but this time I thought I would order the Pho. I ordered the one with the tendon and flank with a side of fresh salad rolls. However, when I tried to order the iced coffee with condensed milk (the ultimate reason why I go to any Vietnamese place), they told me they were out! I was so baffled. How could they be out? It put a damper on the rest of my meal. The service was fine and my rolls were tasty. I thought the Pho broth was lacking in flavor and I only saw one piece of tendon in there. Overall, it was okay but I'm still in disbelief that they had ran out of coffee.

I loves me some Pho but also have a new love and its Banh Mi Ga Nuong "Spicy Chicken Sammich" with fresh veggies pickled radish, cilantro, sliced jalapeno, cucumber ,and carrot these tasty little sammiches are only $3.25 !! you can't beat that with a little old laddies broom. now I have wanted to try these for a while but we always seem to be in Pho mood, but the other day we are at Vivace and a friend is eating one and the BF is like hey whats that it looks good, and our friend is its a Chicken Banh Mi from Pho Cyclo, so we head across the street to get us some yummy sammiches, I also listened to him and got extra Jalapeno on it and damn could I feel the burn !! but it was a good burn I have been told this is the place for Chicken but there are better places for the pork and cheaper also, so will go in search of and review them also, I had a pork one here and it was good but if there are better to be had ......

Good for other vietnemiese food, not good for pho. I honestly don't understand why people like the pho here, it's salty and expensive. I normally order the Lemon Grass Tofu with vermicilli and I love it. The spring rolls are not bad, not as good as can be found at the Moonlight Cafe on Jackson. The bah mi sandwhiches are honestly the best in town, the ingredients are fresh and the french bread is the perfect flavor and texture. If you're on the go and want something cheap to eat, I recommend these sandwhiches. To go, the sandwhiches are $3.75, but if you order a sandwhich in, it's $5 dollars but you get a salad with it. The decor is awesome and it keeps one company if you eat out alone. The service is ok. I've been a regular here for two years or so, and just recently have they realized this. Not that I expect to be noticed everywhere I go, but considering I used to eat lunch there at least twice a week, plus an occassional dinner with my hubby, and ordering the bah mi sandwhiches to go on the weekends, I would expect some sort of recognition. It's mostly funny, because a month or so ago I was standing at the counter and one of the regular waiters all of sudden yelled out "hi!" to me, like he recognized me and while I was happy that someone finally put me on their radar, it startled me to the point where I was weirded out.

I don't like this place. The food is ok. The service sucks. But I do like that they give you lots of noodles and meat. The place is too quiet. So quiet that it's akward to talk. Maybe I'm being too harsh, but I don't like the server. The girl that serves us is actually ok, but the guy is really rude. He dropped the glass of water on the table instead of placing it down. The glass hit the table and some of the water got on the table. Then this made it worse. He just walked away without a word. It was like he was mad at me or somthing. Then he laughed at me when I shorted him a dollar. Could of just said that I gave him a dollar less than what the bill was. I would of gave him the dollar and tip, but he was so rude. Besides the rude waiter the food was good.

BEST PHO CHAY IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE. Okay, I'm probably not qualified to make that assertion--but it's my fave, f'sho. I've had so-so service there, but nothing atypical of a Vietnamese-run pho place. What separates them most for other pho places is the pleasantly clean and vibrant atmosphere. Crazy mural on the wall of what I'm guessing is Hanoi or something. A vast menu that has more non-pho entrees than pho. BEST Bun Tofu I've ever had in my life, too. Equal to or better than the deliciousness of the pho chay (veggie pho). Great place to go in the summer for lunch. They open their huge windows so you can breathe all the beauty and splendor of Broadway. (Ew.) But seriously though, the bomb.

Had spring rolls and pho this past weekend and they were quite tasty. The spring rolls were fresh and springy, with a yummy peanut sauce that had just the right amount of sweet and salt. The pho came out steaming but not scalding, which was perfect for the chilly afternoon. I had a small bowl, which still pretty generous and had oodles of noodles. Service was a bit on the slow side. Servers seemed to be running around but not really paying attention in an organized manner until they dropped off the bill.

I judge pho places based on their veggie pho (being vegetarian n' all). Pho Cyclo's is very good- plenty of veggies and tofu and tasty broth. I'm docking a star for the price though since Pho 900's veggie pho is just as good but easier on the wallet. The atmosphere is more pleasant than that of Pho 900 as well (the latter has a sort of institutional feel, but Cyclo has cute pseudo-French murals. Some might say it's cheesy, but I like Cafe Metropolitain too so obviously I don't really care about that!).

Stopped by today & service was bad. I am usually just by myself, so my order is easy. Today I brought my mom & step-father before taking them to the airport to fly back to Denver. Took the waitress a while after we were seated to take our order (usually they are there after I've barely opened the menu!). Unfortunately she didn't bring water (we had to flag down another waitress 1/2 way through the meal) & didn't bring our egg rolls (until after main dishes arrived). Also I have to say that the chicken lemongrass noodle bowl I ordered wasn't as tasty as usual. The chicken seemed a bit more gristly & mostly dark meat, maybe a little overcooked as well. Everything else still tasted great, so I just skipped most of the meat. My step-father didn't really enjoy his Pho either. He is kind of a picky eater, but I figured, how can you go wrong with chicken soup?! Well, unfortunately, it went wrong. He didn't think it had much flavor. Oh well, I'll still go back. I haven't tried their Vietnamese sandwiches & my mom did enjoy her rice combo. However I think I'll stick to Than Bros for Pho.

What is it with the club music? It's the only thing that would prevent me from returning. I mean, we were there at 6 p.m., not at midnight with the partying crowd. The pho was wonderful, with all the traditional choices. The Vietnamese noodles were good too, but the curry with rice dish was underwhelming. We started with the spring rolls, which were fresh and tasty. If you go, stick with the pho, you can't go wrong. Ask for help if you're not sure what to order.

Pho Cyclo is one of my favorite pho places. I'm not sure why Chris T. is so angry though. He almost makes me not want to go back! I'm vegan, and I've never had any problem eating here. I'm not a yuppie though, I do cook most of my own meals, and I'm not a brat. People are going to find any reason to complain about anything. Sometimes you just need to enjoy some pho and ignore the haters. Service can be a little slow when it's busy, but that's seems obvious. The food is reasonably priced, even if the pho costs a little more than some places, it's totally worth it. Their spring rolls are amazing and all the veggies are always fresh. The music is fun, you'll probably hear the same JLo and Katy Perry songs each time you're here.

The vegetarian pho is maybe the best I've ever had, running a tight race with Pho Cafe in Los Angeles. Not that I'm a vegetarian, because I'm not really. But I do appreciate my veggies from time to time, and these guys make a mean veggie pho that tastes just as good as any meat-heavy original. The music and the service can be a little lacking, but why are you there? To make friends and dance? No. You're there because your soul needs a hug. That's what pho is for.

okay, so I love Pho. not gonna lie. but this was.... amazing. it's in a perfect people-and-puppy-watching spot. the tea is correctly made. the portions are perfect. the broth.... spot-on. I am totally trying the quail egg next time. NOMS!

i've been coming here for awhile now. and i'm rarely disappointed. they're pretty consistent in terms of flavors, service and the overall product. the service is pretty pho-ast and they might pho-get about you once in awhile, but that's pretty typical in pho joints. although the rice dishes aren't great, their bowls of noodles, be it won ton min or pho is pretty damn good. their cafe sua, their coffee with sweet condensed milk at the bottom, is also spot on. for what it's worth, usually less than ten bucks a meal, it's much better than other pho joints, save than brothers (sorry). the bathrooms can get a little gross too, but pho-geddaboutit. awright, i gotta quit pho-kin around. damn! can't stop it pho-lowin'!

It's no secret that I love to bitch. This might explain my Yelp addiction - an open platform on which I am able to whine and complain and where people actually send me little notes telling me I'm HOT STUFF for it. Sweet. It's also why I continue to live here. What seeker of contentment would spend 37 years dealing with hail, SNOW, rain, and sun all in the same fucking day? IN APRIL? The Northwest is clearly the domain of the curmudgeonly and I am a crotchety old bitch in training - I think I'm the equivalent of a brown-belt at this point. The nice thing about Pho Cyclo is that I get a robust combination of things to piss and moan about and a hot bowl of decent pho on a day like today. Things to bitch about: 1. Sat for a few minutes without a menu - finally just asked for it. Grrrrr! 2. Rubbery cha goi - always out of the shrimp only version and watery peanut sauce on the side. Grumble! 3. Food placed on top of the paper I was reading when they finally got around to bringing it. What! The! Fuck! 4. Piddling amount of meat in the pho - meatballs cut into fourths. Cheap! Cheap! Cheap! 5. Over $6 for the small bowl - RAPE!!!! Things that make me come back: 1. Delightful gingery sauce that I haven't run into anywhere else for the dippings of the meatballs. MMMMMMMM. 2. Clean place overall and delightful mural of a Saigon street with twinkling fiber optic lights. Pretty! 3. Takes credit cards which Than Bros does not. Hassle free! 4. The above list. Again - I like to bitch. I guess I'll be black-belt ready when I can overlook the first three things on the second list and really get pissed off. Today I was just happy for the hot soup. SNOW!!!! IN APRIL!!!!! Fuck.

If you find yourself standing directly in front of this place, craving a banh mi and you are super lazy. By all means go in and ask one of the very efficient members of the wait staff for a sandwich to go. It's better than Subway.

I end up here a lot because my wife and one of our friends really likes one particular vegetarian dish here. I end up feeling annoyed and disappointed every time I eat here though. The service is uniformly crappy. As other reviewers have mentioned, once they've taken your order, they drop off your food then never come back. You drank your glass of water? Too bad! You need a utensil? Too bad! More annoying to me is the really intrusive techno music they constantly play. If I want Pho, I prefer to go up the street to Than Brothers.

Skip the chicken red curry rice dish. Chicken was not very good. They let me switch to shrimp instead. Also pass on house red wine. Otherwise service ok and decor nice.

I have no complaint about their food. I love their pho. It's milder than most other pho places around Seattle, but that's why I like it. I also like their noodle bowls and absolutely love love love!! their tofu salad. So, the 1 star is purely for service. 2 bad pho incidents in 3 weeks is not good. First time, they plain simple forgot my pho order. No apology. They just took my order and brought it out when it was ready, which was AFTER my friend had finished her meal. The second time, they almost forgot my pho order. Then they brought out the wrong kind of pho and with cilantro in it (I very strongly stressed NO CILANTRO!!! multiple times when I ordered) Server gave me attitude when I pointed out to him the floating cilantro leaves in my pho and ask him to take it back. So, yet again, my pho comes out when my friend was done with her dinner which included chicken salad, spring roll, and a satay. I probably will continue to go here since I just can't imagine stopping myself from craving their pho. But I am pretty sure that I won't be the nice generous tipper I usually am at most other places. 5% might be too generous for their [non-existent] service.

Meh. T His cafe has good fresh rolls and average pho. I tried their pork and dried noodles and I was disappointed. The sauce was terribly sweet and had no other taste component. No fish dace on the table to try to doctor it up! I will stick with Thanh Bros when I come to Capitol Hill for pho.

Pho wasn't horrible, the staff messed up my order 2 times in one visit. I asked for no mushrooms or onion in the veggie PHo. They left In onions And mushrooms but fogot the tofu, I had them correct the order, still no tofu. So I ate it anyway. It was lacking on the noodle portion, so I ordered an extra side. I'm not a pig at all and I ate even the extra side in about 4 bites. So very lacking in portion size. Than bros is still my fav PHo place, it's hard to displease me with food and service as I am a server myself. But man I left halfway through the meal just to get something else to eat.

I only wish I could give this place 0 stars. When you order chicken pho and get shrimp shells in it, that's just unacceptable. Thankfully I don't have any shellfish allergies, but it was still rendered inedible. For good pho, check out Than Brothers (but who in Seattle hasn't already been there?). I'll never go back to this place.

Really enjoyed their Pho Thai Nam (small - which is big). The beef was lovely - very tender none of the chewiness you sometimes find - as were the noodles. I was a bit sceptical of the shrimp spring rolls at first (since they are rather large!) but they are fresh tasting perhaps maybe a little too uneventful to want me to get them again next time. All in all solid place, friendly and helpful staff, good choice for Pho on Capitol Hill. Will definitely go again when craving Pho...

I eat here way more often than I'd like to admit. I can't help it. The super tasty spring rolls, the piping hot pho that appears almost instantly...and I especially like the no.31 (stir-fried tofu with lemon grass over rice). If I was judging on just food alone, Pho Cyclo would get a solid 4 stars, maybe even 5. BUT, and it really is a big BUT, the service is horribly stinkingly awful! The tea will be bitter, your drinks will not be refilled, and if they should happen to make a mistake with your order, you will somehow be at fault. I know several people that will no longer eat here, and honestly, I can't blame them. However, I have noticed that the most offensive waiter, hasn't been around in quite awhile, so hopefully this means that Pho Cyclo is starting to understand the importance of good customer service. Fingers crossed.

I came in expecting this Pho Cyclo to be as good as the one in SoDo. But it's not. The broth is just too SWEET! I could barely finish a small because of the flavor of the broth. For the love of God, why would you make your pho that sweet? Everything else (the noodles, decor, service) was good, but this will not be my go-to pho shop. Bunneh sad. :( Maybe I'll give Pho 900 a shot. .

Spring rolls always taste like they have cilantro in them. I'm not sure if they actually do, or if it's the basil combined with something else, but all I know is that I love them dearly, especially for that cilantro-ey taste. And Pho. Pho is better than sliced bread. Pho always sounds good, even right after I've eaten it. And it can be used in so many puns. "What the pho man?" "pho you!" etc. A good friend of mine is Vietnamese. He told me at one point that Pho Cyclo had the best Pho in town. Wow. That doesn't make it my favorite, though. However, I am usually here with my business partner and we usually plan on writing off the meal, and paying with credit makes that so much easier. Sorry Than Bros. (Who, for the record, also aren't my favorite. That goes to Best Thai and Pho in Renton).

Whenever I venture to eat Pho at this Capital Hill joint, I always sing that annoying Baby Bash song, "Cyclone" but change up the lyrics a bit. "She moves her body like a pho cyclo" is what I sing to my friends or my fiance' while trying to find a parallel parking spot. While parking my car, I like knowing that in about 20 minutes, I'm about to have some delicious pho and a side of spring rolls as an appetizer. Pho Cyclo delivers pho that I am use to eating in the past. The delicious soup has the right amount of noodles, meat and cilantro. If you're feeling extremely hungry (like how I always feel), order a large. If you don't want to be overly stuffed, I suggest ordering a small. Their spring rolls here are divine and the sauce they give you for dipping is just right. You don't have to break your budget here either. Pho cyclo is cheap, and if you're a real money pincher, they'll always refill your water glass (unlike Than Bros). Also, if you have the cold or the flu, the pho at Cyclo is exactly what you need for that soothing feeling you so desperately crave when sick.

My favorite neighborhood pho place! In my 8 years of living in Seattle I've seen that location change businesses so often I thought it was cursed. World Wraps, multiple thai restaurants and now Pho Cylo. But now I never see the place with more than 5 open tables, and this is a decent sized space! I rarely eat pho but my favorite is the spicy tofu over vegetables and rice. Flavorful, not too spicy and the perfect portion for dinner. Oh and don't be frightened when the server repeats your order and it sounds nothing like you ordered. Just nod and smile and let them take care of the rest!

I'm a meat lover, but they have the BEST veggie pho I've ever had and often order this when I want something healthy yet deliciously satisfying. It comes steaming hot with fresh tofu, broccoli, carrots, sprouts, fried caramelized onions and garlic. Even places that specialize in good vegan pho (i.e. Moonlight Cafe or Vegan Garden) do not make it as special as it is here. Ok, aside from the pho, their combo meat dishes with vermicelli or rice are very good and their broken rice (often an overlooked side) is always perfect. Domestic and imported beers are available. Visually, the decor is kind of fun. They have pretty cherry wood tables and chairs, bright green chopsticks, and the surrounding wall murals emulate a courtyard scene in Vietnam. It brings out the kid in me!

HAND DOWN THE BEST PHO I HAVE EVER HAD. but service sucked... I guess they dont split checks if you have a party of 8 or greater which was extremely inconvenient because not all of us had cash. They insisted they could not go back and reprint tickets for us. so we stood outside for 30+ minutes and waited for a couple of us to walk to the bank to get cash. on top of that, they forced gratuity on the check which was not on there at first... bad service, but undeniably great food

3 starts from me means: I would go here again if I was part of a group and they wanted to go there. I've been here before and thought it was pretty good. But the last time that I went, I didn't really enjoy it (even though I was starving). The service wasn't bad and the atmosphere was actually pretty okay as well. I enjoyed that they painted a Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City street at night on the large wall. There were even little twinkles light set inside the wall to give it a nice look. What I wanted to complain about was the food and beverages. I liked that they gave you hot tea for free (like any good Vietnamese pho place should), but my cup smelled like chlorine and my bf said that it tasted like dirty water. The food portion was small compared to other smalls I have ordered at other places. I also wish that they had given me some more tai and meatballs. One last thing: I would have liked it if they had dried off the thai basil and the bean sprouts given to us for our meal. It only makes sense.

  • Wesh W.

Slow, disorganized, unrewarding. The service was so excruciatingly bad it was like the entire staff was trying to conceal a body. When the soup arrived it just plain sucked. I expected good...I wanted good...dammit I NEEDED good, and Pho Cyclo totally blew it.

    (1)
  • Atif M.

The pho cyclo is off the wall good and the bean sprouts give it the right amount of crunch. This might seem like a weird criticism, but with all the meat that comes with it, I wouldn't mind some extra noodles to even out the textures.

Before crossing the doorway to this establishment I was told, beyond refute, that Pho Cyclo has the best broth of any Vietnamese place ever. Period. It can only go downhill from there right? What is great about Vietnamese places, and here is no exception, is that there is virtually no waiting from the time the order is placed to the time the piping hot cuisine is in front of me and fogging up my glasses. After adding the lime, basil and rooster sauce - the temperature had dropped sufficiently for the consumption to begin....and so it did. I can't say that I was too surprised to find that the broth, is in fact, the best ever. If i wasn't ironclad on eating the food before slurping up the juice, I'd have been left with a pile of meat and noodles in front of me. In the end, while I wish there was a little more meat in the bowl and I felt a bit odd that the walls reminded me more of Europe than Vietnam (granted a place I have never been), I will for sure be returning here in the near future.

I'm a regular at Pho Cyclo. For the price and location, they seem to hit all the right notes. I like the location right across from QFC. You can park in the QFC garage and buy "something" to get your parking validated. I like that they have a large seating area with windows along the street front. The people watching is always interesting in Capitol Hill! The murals on the wall are interesting.....they depict scenes of Saigon and are worth inspecting if you have a moment. The food is above average and I give it 4 stars because at this price point above average is remarkable. My favorites are the Grilled Chicken Bun Noodle Bowl. It's not quite Tamarind Tree or Ba-Bar but it's close and for $7.95 it's a bargain. My other fav's are the shrimp toast and the spring rolls. On the darkside....the service can be spotty and even snotty sometimes; the bathrooms are 3rd world so don't go in them-hold it! If you were in Saigon, would you expect anything else??

I am a noodle soup lover. Pho happens to be one of my favorites so when it comes to eating said dish I can be very...well I will say demanding. My husband introduced me to Pho Cyclo and insisted that it was one of the better Pho restaurants in Seattle. That being said we headed down to Capital Hill. I ordered my staple Pho Tai and when it arrived I had mixed feelings. The soup was tasty but it was forgettable. Nothing about it really stood out. The noodles were slightly undercooked and the meat was WAY overcooked. All in all it was just OK. I would have given them a 2 but they also serve decent sandwiches so I bumped them up to a 3.

  • Bryan K.

For some reason, since being introduced to pho a few years ago, I have been blindly going back to Than Brothers over and over without even considering others. Well, thanks to a friend, I was coerced into trying Pho Cyclo. Besides missing my complimentary cream puff, I actually liked it alot better. The soup just tasted better, fresher ingredients or something, I can't really put my finger on it exactly, just better. What they lack in the number of pho meat options they more than make up for in other food options. Traditional Vietnamese dishes are available as well as soup. If I go here with a friend, I like to split an order of spring rolls to start and then dig into my giant bowl of spicy ass soup. Ah, brings a smile to my face just thinking about it.

DO NOT ORDER PHO HERE! It sucks. However, get the grilled shrimp/pork kabob combo. It is amazing! I've never had grilled shrimp or pork like it and I drool whenever I think about this dish. Really fixes your need to eat some meat on a stick. Service is slow and there's generally a wait. That's right, a wait at a Pho place!!!!! Sometimes there is no one there and we have to wait. Weird. Props to the giant mural.

So I eat here pretty often, just because I can't get to the ID for some REAL asian pho that will knock the socks off ya. Out of the pho you can get on the hill, it's the easiest and most decent, the other pho place really stinks. It's equivalent to the safeway or qfc deli for me- it will do, but not a place I will bring someone I'm trying to impress to. I understand that there is a certain type of taste bud their accommodating to, but I truly feel that if they make it authentic ppl will still eat it, and proba bly come more often. It doesn't matter if your a pho eating pro that's been eating pho since 2, or a newbie- pho should always be authentic and flavorful. The broth is the most important part, and I feel like they don't let the bones cook long enough to get the true pho experience. Also, whats up with that side sauce- blah, I can't even dip my meat in that. Enough of my bitchin, I will still go there when I'm hung over or I get a hankering for some good old fashion asian breakfast/brunch. Oh yah, I don't like their rice dishes either...or the vietnamese sandwiches either.

Service sucks! Had to ask twice for refill on soda(everytime). Language barrier when it comes to taking orders. They always messed up on our order, and don't own up to it, just this blank stair and idon't know. This happens to us more than once, so no more...

Service & atmosphere is meh......but the Pho` is delicious. I'm new to Pho` but have been very satisified. I'm concerned about all the mention of MSG in other reviews, but have always felt great after a bowl of the yummy soup!!!! I've been there twice in two weeks and planning another trip possibly today.

Beats the crap out of Thanh Brothers any day I love love love the pho here. It is so yummy, it's nearly addicting. The can't be beat price of the Banh mi is mind blowing. You get the fresh crusty french roll with the chared pork and add a little shriracha, AAAHHH it's like transending to the next level of enlightenment. I love the atmosphere the quirky music is always different and the painted fresco covered walls one with color changing lights installed transports you to an (indoors) outdoor cafe. Sit by the window and people watch, Broadway is good for that and enjoy the moderately priced wonderfully crafted food they have to offer.

Solid. After my experience at Than Brothers the night before (check my disgruntled revised review of TB), I was demoralized and needed a pick-me-up. Pho Cyclo is one of those new pho houses where they actually pay a whit to atmosphere, but still serve up a decent bowl. True, it wasn't a huge bowl; quite conservative, but the broth was light and had a lovely, not-sweet bouquet, and I could feel my stars aligning again. I had the meaty-meat-meat pho (pho tai nam gau), and friend had the veggie pho; she is quite an aficionado of veggie pho and she likes Cyclo by virtue of the freshest and most varied veg available. Also, they were playing- blasting- Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance 2006, Disc 2 the whole time we were there. For me, this would be reason enough to give this place five stars, but taking into consideration that the rest of you might not love ntz ntz ntz music as much as I do, I'll just review the food.

My first taste of Vietnamese cuisine coincides with my first review of 2008! All I can say is - AWESOME! I may be the last person in Seattle who has not tried Pho however... I did have some fantastic rice noodles with chicken, onions, garlic, bean sprouts, radishes and all sorts of herbs. The price is right too! The only reason this place loses a star is for the so-so service - no water, no offer of a fork - which I guess could be considered a good thing - it made me eat SUPER SLOW with my chopsticks... I'm just not cool enough to sport chopsticks. I WILL be back, perhaps to try this PHO I hear so much about!

  • Jim M.

Sure, I'll give them five stars. Best in class. A pleasant spot and about the only Vietnamese restaurant I go to lately. Beyond pho they have it together in terms of nice atmosphere, clean, good service and what else is on the menu. I like pho but usually wind up with one of the rice noodle dishes. Menu is at phocyclocafe.com/menu.as…

Went to Pho Cyclo Cafe for lunch the other day. I initially meant to go to Than Bros. but figured I'd try a new place. I had the seafood pho which was just adequate. The squid seemed a bit too tough but the broth was nice and fragrant. The cafe sua da was seriously lacking in condensed milk, so it turned out too bitter. Service was a bit aloof but for the price I'm not complaining. I might give it another try some other time.

The food is great but the service is unacceptable. I would wave to the people behind the counter to come to my table, but they just looked at me. Yesterday I sat there with my menu closed, waiting to order but no one came around for ten minutes. I finally decided to get up and leave. Looks like I'll just be ordering take out from them from now on.

This is the best pho Seattle has to offer. Clean and clear broth with the fresh bean sprouts, hot jalepinos, and beautiful basil. The pork egg roll noodle bowl is also fab with the ideal vege to noodle to meat ratio. It's worth the search for parking!

  • Natascha Z.

I wish the Pho tasted as good as the place looks. The "seafood" looked and tasted like pre chopped/frozen/shipped/and frozen again blandness that made me lose my appetite.

  • Angel V.

You can't really go wrong with pho, and this place is no exception. The portions are generous, the broth is delicious, and they have a good deal more than just pho to offer. They bring you tea to your table which is complimentary (in exchange for the calorie-filled cream puffs provided for you at Than Bros). The staff is friendly, and sometimes they get around to refilling your water more than other pho places which is usually quite a rarity, yet a necessity to the pho-goer with a hangover. Lately when dining, I haven't seen a certain employee who sashays around with his iPod plugged into the restaurant loudspeakers playing a mix of the latest pop songs. It's the kind of music I loved and would listen to myself, so I miss that. A couple things that will keep me from this place however is the fact that I love Pho ga (chicken pho) and for some reason I can't understand, they put a certain vegetable in only the chicken pho that I feel has the most rancid and unappealing taste. It looks like an overroasted shallot or something, but I can't say for sure. It has a very strong burnt taste which isn't in every bite, but when you get one, you can taste it and it ruins the dish for me. Another qualm, and this one isn't a very big deal at all, is on the table they provide chili paste as opposed to chili oil. Chili paste is something I also find to have a very negative flavor and definitely prefer chili oil if I'm in the mood for intense spice. Not a big deal though because I can enjoy pho just fine without either as long as I have Sriracha. The decor is also much more interesting than most other pho places and takes your imagination to a place that you feel like you can almost visualize what it would be like to be eating genuine pho in a small Vietnamese urban area.

it's been awhile pho cyclo. i've been in korea and my love of pho has been served with poor substitutions while i've been abroad. last time i was at pho cyclo i was given some dirty cups that made the rest of my experience not too hot. it says something that i still went back for more pho cyclo's number 16.....yeah. love their pork over vermicelli rice. sadly....i dont know if i can ever go back ever again. seriously pho cyclo. do you hate me? my newly minted hubs and i walked in and were promptly seated. awesome. we ordered and his chicken pho was flavorful and delish. great. so star and star for pho cyclo thus far! but then....troubles begin.... i taste my dish 16....it tastes....really soapy....like seriously did someone accidentally let some soapy dish soap get into my food?? i taste it again. i'm not imagining it. something is up. i ask my husband to taste it. he says he tastes it too. i feel bad, but i ask the waitress if they could remake the dish. they are will to take it back. cool. by the time they bring it back, i'm feeling ill from the couple of bites i ate and my hubs is done with his pho. i cautiously smell and start adding the sauce and eating the noodles and the sauce. things are okay....but then i try the meat. it's the meat. hte meat even smells soapy. at that point, i feel really bad for having sent backmy food once already, but i'm disappointed. i'm giving one star for my husband's pho-and the fact that they were wiling to work with me, however, for the fact that my food was inedible...and that i still had to pay for a dinner that i didn't get to consume...sad face

Never get their beef curry, so disgusting, as for pho, it's about average...But the nice thing is they served bubble tea and the service seems friendly. One of the guys remembered my name haha, he's a happy guy, maybe he got a crush on me. :(

Waking up Saturday morning with a nasty sinus headache and stuffy nose I didn't want to do anything but when I heard the boy say he wanted Pho I was ready to go. Pho + not feeling well = A++ cure. I suggested we try someplace new and I knew Broadway had a few Pho places so we headed up there, found parking and started walking, we soon found Pho Cyclo and went in. We were seated at a window seat so we had a great view of the happenings on Broadway; I think Broadway is one of the best people watching spots around, sorry for the digression there. Anyways back to the review, we both order the Pho Ga it was very flavorful and tasty and the small was huge but it was also a little on the greasy side for me, I mean if I can see circles of greasy floating on top it's not good but really it was. The Pho hit the spot made me feel better except for the fact there were no extra napkins, one just wasn't enough especially with my stuffy nose turning runny from the Pho. I think next time I'll try the one on First Ave and bring extra napkins with me.

I give this four stars because it's not perfect but it's very good. Most of the time. The #16, grilled pork on skewers atop a bowl of noodles with all sorts of delicious little condiments like vinegary cucumber and chopped nuts, all above crisp lettuce-y vegetables, is my favorite. It's a good portion of pork that will definitely fulfill your hunger if you're wanting something more than noodles with a few slices of meat. The pork is sometimes a bit grissly and difficult to remove from the skewers; most of the time it's delicious. The waitstaff is oddly not friendly in the way that, yes, you'll certainly get the food you order but they sure don't do anything to make guests feel welcome. The trompe l'oeil is pretty cool; just wish they'd known when to stop (as in the little lights in the wall took it all one step too far for me). Don't look at the floors. They're beyond filthy.

  • Koriann B.

Yes, service is terrible. With this place it's a given. This is the only place where I have to make it VERY obvious that my water glass is empty. But I don't go here for the service. Or even the pho, really. I come here for the vermicelli bowls. I love them. The grilled pork especially. The flavor is amazing and I leave feeling stuff and happy with leftovers and only about $10 poorer. Don't get me wrong, the pho here is okay. Not terrible, but not great either. It's satisfying in it's own way. If I want really good pho, I'll go to the ID or even to some of the places in the U-district.

For some reason, tonight I was "ono" for Vietnamese.... not pho, but something more substantial. I love Than Brothers, but sometimes I want more than noodle soup and cream puffs. Pho Cyclo has a lot of variety on their menu - pho, noodle dishes, rice dishes, salads, vegan, etc. They got something for everyone. I had the Bun Cyclo, a rice noodle bowl with grilled pork, grilled shrimp, meatball and shrimp cake. The cafe sua (coffee and condensed milk) was really great. Pho Cyclo has lots of room - high ceilings and great sliding doors that open out onto the street. Makes for a nice place to people watch. Service was OK. Miscommunication is possible since the wait staff speak mostly Vietnamese. Come with an open mind.

I always like Pho Cyclo. Its one of my "go to" places on the hill for great Pho. As I've read other reviews on here, i do have to say that i gave it 4 stars because of the service. Great food tho!

  • Amani Ellen L.

This is 4 of 5 possible Pho stars, not on the all-time food scale. On the all-time food scale, I think any pho restaurant is only capable of maybe a 2. that said, Pho cyclo is awesome. No cream puff, a la the Tran Bros. monopoly, but it's good food. So fresh, so good! I had a bowl of veggie pho today that had actual vegetables in it! Carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, onions! As opposed to Tran Bros, where vegetables=mushrooms and deal with it. The thing is- I kinda miss the grit of Tran Bros. Cyclo has nice lighting, servers who approach you more than once, and the tables are clean. There's no fish tank with opaque algae sides, the music playing is nonoffensive and quiet. Sounds good, right? It is. It's just not what I look for in a pho joint.

I love their tofu bun noodle dish -- truly divine. I've driven all the way up form Rainier Beach for this dish! It's big enough that two people can split it, and is that perfect combo of rich (fried tofu, yummy noodes) and fresh (with veggies and even some lettuce in there). That said, service can be pretty bad. I think it comes down to a language issue. As long as the server understands your order, it's great. But if there's any confusion, the language barrier adds to the comedy of errors. I can deal with it, but when it makes the service slow to a crawl, it's harder to enjoy my tofu bun.

What a bummer. I like the name/concept. I like the location (near to me). I definitely dig the gigantic mural with absurd and trippy color changing LEDs that transforms an entire wall of the place into a street scene. Also, I love bun thit nuong. And on a genuine Vietnamese guy's recommendation (see below), I decided to get some here. Buh. Perhaps it was most disappointing because it had such great potential. A nice pot of tea on the table for free, food out quickly, and it looked and smelled great. Tons and tons of charbroiled pork fresh off the skewer. But that was also its downfall. The pork was about 50% fat and gristle, at best. I know my way around a pair or two of chopsticks, but this needed more of a chainsaw to deal with. Bummer. I have no way of knowing if this is "authentic" in some way, but I can be very sure that it sucks. Now I'm afraid to get the pho here, and while I might try it eventually I'll definitely never bother with anything else on the menu again. I give it the extra star for the potential that might go realized in other dishes (it is pending on a successful pho experience here), and because the waiters were friendly and polite and the tea was very pleasant.

  • Tyler H.

I'd go here just to sit, stare at the murals depicting Vietnamese streets scenes, and watch the lights slowly change their color. In fact, when I got to Pho Cyclo, I'm probably not a very good conversationalist because I'm too busy watching those damned lights! If you haven't been, you probably have no idea what I'm referring to. But if you have, you can probably sympathize. They're hypnotic. Luckily, the food here is hypnotic* also. I've had both the their pho and some of their other rice and noodle dishes, and enjoyed them all. If I had any complaints its that I'm a stupid white boy who always puts too much hot sauce on my food... and they don't refill my water glass as frequently as I need to keep myself from spontaneously combusting. But, really, who's fault is that? *Is it fair to refer to food as "hypnotic"? Sometimes, when I try to be clever in my reviews, I think I just end up being incoherent.

  • Michael W.

My second outing at the Cyclo was just as tasty as the first. The setting is well designed with the wall murals putting you in the streets of Vietnam. Plus, on beautiful Summer nights, they slide open the large floor-to-ceiling store front windows that make you feel like you're dining outdoors. Besides the atmosphere, the pho is about the best that I've eating in my life so far. And I eat a lot of pho. To reinforce my ratings on this place, my wife usually won't eat at a Vietnamese restaurant with me unless their rice dishes are good. She gives it two thumbs up! Only drawback is that it's a little more $ than the average pho. But worth the price if you want a memorable meal.

It's hard for me to find a good Pho place, and trust me.. i know good Pho. I've been to so many Pho places and this is definitely one of the better places I've been too. Everyone is super nice and the broth is so amazing, which is to me the most important part. So if you seriously want to come to a Pho place that is actually good, go here. PLUS THE PICTURES ON THE WALL ARE AWESOME.

So disappointed! Service was so bad: it took way too long for them to serve us especially when there was hardly anyone there. My meal came after close to 10 minutes of my friend receiving hers...they never refilled our water nor tea either. Overall, the food was good but quality of pork on #16 wasn't great. Wouldn't go back :(

pho is decent, not the best. They seem to put ginger everywhere; fishsauce, meat dipping sauce, marinades, etc. I like the combination rice dishes, plentiful and of variety.

Did you know that pho cyclo's theme comes from people riding bicycles around and delivering food on the bicycles without wearing helmets but while using big wicker baskets? Ok I probably didn't get that right but thats because I didn't have enough time to read the whole story on the menu...which just shows how kickass this place is. Any restaurant that picks up your order the minute you set your menu down has a repeat customer in me. Oh, plus a meal of salad rolls and chicken pho is A-OK.

I like Pho but I'm a much bigger fan of Bun, just the rice noodles heaped with piles of delicious goodness. They have a couple of combinations that I really like, the number 23 comes with some tasty meatballs, very very good shrimp and a delicious barbecued beef. As mentioned in other reviews the meat in some Pho restaurants can be a little challenging, but the stuff here is high quality and very good. As someone who lived in asian neighborhoods in San Francisco and also the International District here, I'd gotten used to Pho shops being very bare boned, formica table top operations. I really appreciate that the place is pleasantly decorated and has a friendly, comfortable vibe.
