Had a great turkey BLT with guacamole sandwich. Really fresh with crisp, flavorful but not charred bacon, a ripe, juicy tomato, good fresh lettuce (not wimpy iceberg lettuce either), on nice bread. Really a tasty sandwich. I got it to go and walked a few steps away to the docks to eat after the seafair air show. Sandwich was so enjoyable I returned on my walk back north and had a cappuccino, which was also excellent. Deli's run by a nice couple. Good place for a sandwich in a hidden away corner of Seattle on the shores of Lake Washington.

Pert's has been here forever, next door to the infamous Bluwater Bistro. I might have gotten coffee here once maybe fifteen years ago, but today was the first time I had something to eat. Definitely a mom and pop establishment. I walked in to find myself in front of a nearly empty display case (I think there was one bowl of salad in the entire thing). Overhead was eerie yellow fluorescent lighting. Somebody had a fixation with the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico because they had taped several political cartoons relating to the disaster on the back of the espresso maker. An elderly man was making an espresso for another customer and two ladies were working in the kitchen area, or at least standing there. I decided on the turkey, guacamole, bacon, tomato and alfalfa sprout sandwich with provolone cheese ($7.95) and stood by the cash register waiting for somebody to take my order. Finally, one of the ladies who had been staring at me while sipping coffee finally set her mug down and asked me if I was ready to order. I was, and I ordered my sandwich with sourdough bread (white, wheat, dark and light ryes were also available). I was amazed how fast they whipped out my sandwich. I took it out to my car and ate it, enjoying the views of the Bellevue skyscrapers and Mount Rainier over Lake Washington, listening to the clank of the masts on the boats in the nearby marina as they rustled in the breeze. The sandwich (which came with a pickle spear) was good, with light and fresh ingredients in decent portions. But a couple of observations: (1) while I'm sure it was sourdough bread, it's texture was more like that of a typical white bread and (2) the sandwich lacked flavor. Bland. The guacamole needed salt and spice and heat, of which it had none.

A wonderful small, quiet shop along Lake Washington. The elder man has that older charm similar to Hans at Arosa on First Hill, only slightly slower and a smidge hard to understand (both warm as soup, though). I had an Italian sandwich put together nicely and also a fragel---which, if I recall correctly, is a fried bagel? It had a cinnamon layer so that was good and less doughy compared to a donut. It was super quiet, but both the man and the lady were nice. They also have neat thingamabob's, too, like the "friends don't let friends go to starbucks" sticker, hahaha.

Your neighborhood café, May and Max are friendly and have been around. Trying to please the customer and whipping up great sandwiches. Try their unique scones, to die for! Move over, Starbucks, here you get personal attention and a warm feeling.

The bacon guacamole sandwich on toasted sourdough is amazing. I wasn't expecting much from Pert's given that the place was nearly empty of customers and the deli display cabinet was empty (except for some hard-boiled eggs). Massimo, one of the owners, is getting up in years and wasn't exactly genial but his wife Mai is an expert sandwich maker. And the outdoor seating makes up for the lack of ambiance inside.

I am disappointed by the reviews regarding Pert's Deli. I happen to work near Pert's and frequent it often for lunch. I have no complaints. May and Max are pleasant every time I visit. It is definitely a home owned, home run establishment, so you shouldn't expect Starbucks service. They are people you actually become friends with and chit chat about daily life. I have never witnessed either May (the rude asian woman described in Kelly's review) or Max be anything other than helpful and kind to their customers. And their sandwiches are amazing. My entire office enjoys various types of sandwiches from Pert's. Especially, #4 the turkey bacon sandwich. Also, they make homemade soups from scratch daily. Chicken and wild rice is my favorite. In addition, they have a decent chef's salad. It's not special, but that is what is great about it. It has what you would exactly expect in a chefs salad. Prices are also comparable to any other cafe/deli I have visited. I was just there today and I purchased a cup of soup, half a sandwich, and a vitamin water for 9 dollars. That seems decent to me. Overall, give Pert's a shot. I feel as if the other reviewers had a skewed point of view before they even entered.. hence the bad remarks.

From the sweet old man at the counter to the yummiest BLT + guacamole, this place is a WONDERFUL soup and sandwich shop! They offer half sandwiches, which is a nice option to have, the bread was really fresh, and our meals came out very quickly even though 6 of us ordered at one time. They also have some outdoor seating and lots of side dishes. I recommend Pert's A Deli for sure!! p.s. They have the best tomato bisque that I have ever tasted. Hands down.

I have been staying just up the street from this place,, on and off for the last two weeks and have to say that is reminds me so much of the old mom and pop places of the past. It doesn't matter what you order, it is ALL good and made with love by the lovely lady in back. I have eaten breakfast and lunch there and you just cannot go wrong, though my favorite thing is the number 5 Italian sandwich on a wonderful hard roll! MMMMM is all I can say. Last, but not least, is the great older Italian gentleman who greets you, takes your order and man's the register. He is full of sweetness and old world courtesy. Do not miss this place, if you are in Leshi. There just aren't many of them left around in this corporate world.

I will totally stand by Mathias D.'s account. My daughters and I have been going to Pert's for years. It's one of our treats on the weekend. Their sandwiches are great, soups superb. Their salads and baked goods are very good, too. It's a great place to sit, eat fresh food and watch the world go by, largely on bicycles or in running shoes. Why in the world anyone would go to a deli where sandwiches are hand and freshly made, and expect fast-food service, is beyond me. Yes, you ought to send Joel H. a message: You don't deserve this place. It goes double for the woman who tried not to pay. Pert's is a great neighborhood deli, a dying breed, so we're happy to have one.

I truly enjoy coming to Perts. My usual fare is the Denver Croissant Scramble w/ fruit --ham, peppers, onions, provolone on a sliced fluffy and warm croissant. While I've never tried ordering it on a weekday, I believe it's only available on weekends. This sandwich keeps me coming back every weekend. Paired with a Fresh Juice Works - Apple Ginger (Perts offers 7-8 variations of FJW, big +). I love this meal. The atmosphere is somewhat outdated but somehow still relaxing, reminding you to enjoy the experience of a meal cooked to order by people who've been in the business of serving smiles and meals for decades. They also carry snapples, vitamin waters, izze, soda offerings, ice cream, yogurt, fresh baked zucchini & banana bread, scones, a signature energy bar, many different chip brands (tims, popchip, Hawaiian, Erins, etc), amazing soups from what I hear...the list goes on. They serve Zoka's Paladino Espresso roast from a La Marzocco Linea as well as standard drip coffee. There is much more than meets the eye at Perts Deli in Leschi, even once you're inside you might not realize the fresh and local options available. There is a starbucks across the street that consistently attracts more business. I don't like this at all. Check out the "Friends don't let Friends go to Starbucks" sticker that's on the oven. The only advantage between these two options in Leschi is the speed of service and consistently predictable, prepackaged meals and burnt, bland coffee at starbucks -- you'll find the opposite at Perts, the time is what you would expect from an efficient homecook on a weekend. Don't come here if you like the idea of a meal prepared by robots and an almost militant drink ordering system.

I really like Pert's -- and wouldn't dream of complaining about the super-great couple that runs it and their (admittedly slow) service. That's the whole charm! Plus they're very nice in my experience. That said, the sandwiches are expensive and... not really that good. It's honestly easier to stay home and make the same food. Just come in for the ambiance or whatever.

I love this place, especially during the summertime, and can't wait to go back! Such a wide selection of lunch and side items, and every sandwich that I've had there has been fresh and tasty. Never had any problems with the service, and based on other reviews will have to give their soups or breakfast sandwiches a try if I am there on a weekend!!

Except during the lunch hour, this place moves at the glacial pace of a small town diner, where the owners know everyone and their children by first name. If you're expecting Mc Donald's style service, you're coming to the wrong place. That out of the way, the food is excellent, enough to keep locals and business people coming back over and over. Sandwiches, the staple of the deli, are packed with fresh ingredients and stacked high. The sprouts give the sandwiches a strong character so if you don't like them make sure to ask for none. The true pleasures, however, are the items not clearly on the menu. Everyday, there are two homemade soup offerings, always delicious and occasionally slightly unusual (squash with apple?) In the mornings, they offer breakfast sandwiches which are much better than those available at Starbucks across the street, with fluffy bread and decent eggs. Weekends, they offer decent diner style omlettes and homefries, cooked well, but certainly nothing to write home about.

A really nice deli. I liked their selection of take out salads and food items. I opted for a couscous salad which I must say tastes great. They also had roasted organic chicken, many other kinds of salads, curry chicken, sandwiches etc. Their deli was pretty well stocked with other items like drinks milk chips etc... and then they are next to starbucks :) oh and did I mention you can walk atraight to the marina from their deli and finish ur salad there?

This place does look like a bad hospital cafeteria, as one of the reviewers said, which might be what keeps people away, but it is not. It's a buried neighborhood gem that has been here for a long time, with no advertising, fantastic coffee cake and coffee I hear you can only get in Spain. That I wouldn't know, I haven't been to Spain. It is owned and run by a cute older couple, an Asian woman, who looks like she does everything and her husband at the front counter. It's a very unique and not well known Seattle establishment and if you find yourself in the Starbucks across the street while you are here, you are definitely in the wrong place.

I would say the food is worth the wait, but I wouldn't know. Because I'm still waiting. 35 min and counting, for two sandwhiches. Will. Never. Come. Back.

Great lunch place. Very friendly couple who run the place. Bonus star because when my wife got locked out of our nearby house recently on a very cold day with our 2 month old puppy, they were wonderful to her. I've had the Italian sub every time, and have never been disappointed. The cookies are great as well, especially the chocolate chip cookie (which I hesitate to mention, because I don't want you to take the last one).

This place is awesome. I stumbled across it when I was down here and Starbucks was under renovation. I'm so glad I did! The people were very friendly and have great customer service and helped me make my decision. The sandwiches looked delish and my spanakopita was super yummy. The soy latte was great as well. I'll definitely be coming back!

This place scares me! I realize it's the local Leschi dive deli. But it's just weird. Feels more like a bad hospital cafeteria. It's usually pretty empty (I pass it daily while running). I went in for a sandwich and there were two items in the glass case - old looking pasta salad and already shelled hardboiled eggs floating in murky gray water! And the inside of the case was not clean. My two friends and I ordered three sandwiches. Bland, dismal options. Four more people came in, the woman working took their orders, started making their espresso drinks. Then turned to us and said it'd be a half an hour or more. We asked for a refund and left. Come on folks, really?

Pert's is apparently a favorite stop on the urban biker trail (it's right on the Seward Park loop that's a pretty popular ride route) but I left a bit nonplussed. My boyfriend & I stopped for a quick lunch midway through a bike ride - he had a sandwich, and I had some tortellini pasta salad that was not terribly exciting, and a pretty small portion. The sandwich looked much more appetizing and I probably would have, uh, "borrowed" a few bites if it didn't have bacon on it.
