If you really want pasta that tastes like Chef Boyardee, why not save $7 by going to QFC and buying a can of Chef Boyardee pasta?

I guess this place is fine if you're looking for cheap-ish, quick Italian food. But don't come in here expecting great quality. All of their stuff is pre-made and just gets re-heated when you order it. I got one of their paninis once and it was actually still frozen on the inside. Sorry, but that's unacceptable, even for fast food. I've also had their pesto pasta with smoked salmon. It was alright, but there were tons of bones in the salmon (I understand it's fish, but come on). Frankly, you can do better elsewhere.

The food, although a bit pricey, is good. They have really rich combination of pastas, soup and gelato. The dishes would be around $10-$12 and desserts start at around $5-$6. The Pallino Float and the Affogato are recommended for desserts.

Now I've been to both the Columbia Center and U Village Pallino Pastarias, and the distinctions are intriguing to say the least. Both would, to say the least, make Rebecca Black a candidate for Paxil, for sure... Eleven AM gettin ready for lunch, gotta be fast, gotta go downstairs... gotta have my bowl, gotta have alfredo... gotta catch my bus, I see my friends... the real dilemma at Pallino isn't penne or angel hair, not arrabiata or alfredo, not veggie or sausage lasagna or even do I add extra shrooms or get chicken... It's which seat can I take? They just... let you pick, no direction at all. It's NOT a place for the writer of Rebecca Black's song, so with that in mind, rest assured you won't likely find that suddenly wealthy author of horrificness here, at least not getting past the doorway... Seriously, though, go see my OTHER Pallino review for food specifics, to find out why you REALLY want the lasagna that has NO description on the menu (seriously, Pallino guys, why aren't you telling us how awesome you made it?)-- that one is on the Columbia City 5th Ave location since that's where I ate the 1st time... Now for the U-Village experience :P Both have similar ordering, though the CC one is very food court feeling with the counter area and the line looking just like the wait areas at banks, doctors, DMVs, places you just don't want food to feel like... the seats at the CC one were very disconnected. This U-Village one is separate from the other shops by walls on all 4 sides-own doors, own everything-so it's far more sit-down appropriate while still being fast. Also is open til 9pm; doesn't shut down when the biz execs run home/to the pub. That said, I still got take out. I actually went last night to this one as the CC one was closed--was a few minutes before 7pm, so how could I know since I don't work at CC? Guess all of CC shuts down EARLY (poor restaurants--seems a major rip off to only be able to serve til 5 or 6)... Why desperate for Pallino? Cause it was the last day my Groupon was good, thazwhy! Anyway, despite having already been in Fremont and Green Lake just 20 minutes earlier, it was still worth the haul up I-5, across UW, and all the way back downtown... seriously, it was! I ordered exactly what I expected I would and was VERY happy. Made a stop in Wallingford before heading home, and my food, a solid HOUR later, was still hot. The CC one uses paper boxes, while this one, for lasagna at least, used the round aluminum crinkle pans with the foil-lined paper top that the pan crinkles around... so not only did I have less risk of leakage, in theory, at least soaking the bottom, but it retained warmth extremely well. The veggie lasagna was possibly even slightly better here--not sure why, but this one put the artichokes (for the 1st--haven't eaten the 2nd yet) on top, which ensured the ricotta under was good and hot and wouldn't be at risk of drying out, even. Took about 10 minutes or so... lasagna is that one item that they can't cook in 30 seconds for obvious reasons (maybe that's why it's not on the catering menu--I was tempted to get a huge pan but I figured, seeing $55-60 catering prices, it'd be $75 and not the $30-35 I expect for pasta catering!). In any case, veggie lasagna... broccoli and carrot free, wonderfully tender, cheesy, sauce-delightful comfort food, artichoke-endowed, roasted red pepper laced, chunky tomato enrobed, ricotta cushioned, tender onion tickled, mushroom supported lasagna that would have such a bland, wimpy, soggy noodle experience without that loving support group... but which instead became a harmonious symphony IN MAH BELLY.

Eh. We stopped in for a quick bite. Service was fast, and everyone was friendly, but the food... hm. We had the spaghetti pomodoro with meatballs, which was very simple - just a standard bowl of pasta. Caprese panini was pretty good. I had carrot sticks as a side instead of chips. I was given 7 carrot sticks, which was fine, but it was kind of funny seeing it on the plate. I don't know... maybe the chips would have gone better with the panini. Price was a little high for what I got. I think I'd skip this place in the future.

God! Why? Why why why. Pizza huts disgusting pasta is better cooked and more flavorful than this junkyard. I have no words, other than this review. The bread is from the Tutankhamen's grave, that royal, ancient and sour through centuries of fermentation. The pasta is omg, where do I start. Undercooked and insanely bland, that's enough. But they composed it so exquisitely. The pasta is from Italy, the cheese is from England, the vegetables are from Oregon and the bread is from Egypt. That exquisite. So now imagine you need to travel by train to get all of those ingredients on a single spoon, they are that far apart. So you eat only pasta or only cheese or only raw vegetables or only Pharaoh's bread. God! Why me? First time I just have to trash this food despite being insanely hungry. Prefer water to this and I am not kidding. Redmond Town center has the worst restaurants of any soil on earth, restrooms included. Welcome!

This isn't a non-carb eaters place to be at all! Tons of pasta dishes, my hubby liked his food, he ordered a sandwich and said it was awesome. I ordered the gluten free dish they have and had only a few bites but wished there was a better entrée for us non-carb eaters who want to come in and have a taste for ourselves on a date night with a significant other!

I've been coming here regularly for about eight years now, and I love this place. I highly recommend their mediterranean salad in combination with their pizza. Their pizza has a unique and great flavor and texture, and in my opinion, is the best in Seattle. (The only downside is that they no longer serve affogato or tiramisu anymore, and they've also discontinued the member card 10% discount, but the food is still great.)

Not the best value for your money. I had the sausage sandwich and it was 4 slices of sausage and cheese and that's about it. My soup was so this it was like mush. Beer is $4.00 per bottle. My wife had a salad that was OK but they forgot her soup and after we asked for it resembled a bowl of marinara sauce. It was clean and the staff was remotely friendly but I don't think I'll be back.

When I shop in the U-Village this is where I go when I'm hungry. Pallino serves food that is fast and reliable. I order either their fettuccine alfredo or mac and cheese with bacon, both which satisfy my hunger. It's not a place I would go out of my way to have a meal but I do like its convenience and affordable meals when in the U-Village.

Horrible. I ordered a small chop salad and it was soggy old lettuce with some chicken and salami thrown on top. Pass this place by.

Went there with my parents. We ordered the following for sharing: Italian sausage & mushroom pizza - better than the pizza at Elemental Sun-Dried tomato pesto with penne - comparable to that I have tried in Italy Rigatoni Pomodoro with chicken - the guy taking my order has customize this for me since my mother is allergic to cheese. Overall is pretty good. The ingredients are very fresh and everything is very flavorful. Its location is somewhat sub-optimal since it far away from the main shopping area...

Bleh. This always sounds much better than it actually is. Their pasta always feels like it's a little undercooked, and the sauces and the pastas don't seem to.. meld well. For people who aren't picky about their pasta, this place will work for you. There just seem to be so many better options to eat in the area, maybe not for as cheap, but you really get what you pay for.

  • Heather M.

Probably wont go there again. I had the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. The sauce was watery and had little taste to it and the shrimp was small and I think I got 4 pieces for $3 extra. Parking was easy but I was there during the week. The mall atmosphere is nice.

What: Pasta Alfredo When: Lunch Food: 3 stars Service: 4 stars Atmosphere: 3 stars Price: 3 stars Note: Nothing special as you go up and you order your food and they'll bring it out to you. It may not be a franchise, but it definitely felt like one. It's normal, not bad, not good, just right in the middle.

  • Rob W.

I've eaten here twice and have not been impressed either time. I've gotten marinara and bolognese sauce, both have been under seasoned and lacking in flavor, and the portions are much too small for an average male appetite. They offer their own (or otherwise independent branded) pop (soda for those not down with the Seattle slang) which simply isn't anything special, and their root beer is straight up bad. It'll end up costing over $10 with drinks when all is said and done and while it's not expensive, it's also just not very good. I wouldn't bother.

I pass this place at least once a week, and have gone twice in as many years. The environment is very nice (especially when you consider that it is in the middle of a mall), and even when packed you can still carry on a conversation; the dining floor is very open and well lit. The staff has been decent, not exceptional but certainly better than expected, and never had an issue keeping the beer/wine flowing. Both meals I had were good, well plated, and a fair portion for the price. Although I have no complaints, I never leave with an urgency to return.

Pros... Food was good ( I had the Macaroni and Bacon! soo yummy) Salad was good (the three of us shared an entree) Hot parmasan sea salt chips good The bread on the side of my entree : delish Nice open atmosphere... Booths are huge! Cons.... Cashier completely ignored me after she took my order. Gave my friends trays and numbers, but gave me just my glass of water and walked away. Not a word. The second cashier questioned why I was still standing there, I said, I have no tray, no number, and no chips... she had no diea where the other one jetted off to... but she did help me and realized that the first cashier had put my order in with my friends #. Ok, that would have been nice to know, especially for the waiter who came with our food, brought my friend's food, not mine, and then proceeded to take the number away. Uhhh... wait. where is mine? He said, you ordered pizza right? Yeano. Customer service needs an attitude adjustment, but other than that, it was good.

Love this place! It's a great price and it's always a quick in and out which is great for an after shopping meal before you head home. The employees are always lovely and it's a good place for kids too. If you want pasta at uvillage and you don't want attitude this is your place!

I had a Groupon for this place so my boyfriend and I decided to check it out this week when we couldn't figure out what we wanted for lunch. He had never been before, and I had been once (last year). I ordered the Forrest Mushroom with Penne while he ordered the Special for the day: Lobster Ravioli. Mine was good with hearty chunks of portabella. The penne was cooked perfectly al dente which I greatly appreciate. It's so hard to find well cooked pasta sometimes - especially at places like the Olive Garden :-P. The lobster ravioli was just okay as well. Nothing special, but good enough to make you feel satisfied. For dessert though, we shared a hazelnut gelato. YUMM. I love their gelato. So creamy and flavorful. I love that it's sweet without losing its nuttiness. I'm also a fan of their pistachio. If you go soon, they have a seasonal Pumpkin gelato flavor. LOVE. It tasted just like a cold pumpkin pie! I wouldn't make the trip up just for this place, but it's a nice pasta option if you're in UVillage. Even if you're not hungry, go inside anyway - order a gelato!

I took Keya here for her bday last year!! Sammiches are so healthy and tasty! It is served w crunchy carrots on the side. It is a quick cafe food express versus the Pallino. This place taste spectacular and the price is worth the food! I am satisfied. The sandwiches make me full up fast and I should have got only half next time! But it's alright, I enjoy trying new restaurants, I don't repeat unless I have to! :D The atmosphere is friendly and high ceilings makes you say ooo and ahhh.

This is quite a decent casual, fast-food feel pasta place. It's good for a no frill, easy, super laid back gathering without all the formality and opens relatively later at night, too. The pasta dishes here are affordable at roughly less than $10 a plate. We had cannoli and 2 drinks (since we already ate) and it cost just $11. You order and pay at a counter and grab your own seats. Servers were prompt and the place was relatively quiet enough that we were able to enjoy our easy going conversation. Overall, not a bad place to go for a quick, fast-food casual bite. For high quality Italian food, though, don't have your hopes up high for this.

I feel like this place needs some cleaning. It is 11:45 am and the tables and chairs are have a film on them. I hope the kitchen is getting the attention it needs. I won't be back until it looks cleaner.

Love this restaurant! It's different because you order and pay up front, then sit and they bring your food to you, but I kind of liked that because there's no need to wait for a waiter to come to your table so you can order! I had a really good Cesar salad, and I've also tried the Tuscan White Bean soup which is also really yummy!

Fast Italian Food. I personally loved the White Clam Sauce. However, for some reason they stopped having this on the menu?! It was by far the best white clam sauce I've had. Next is the plain spaghetti I do love their bread! :)

  • Janet G.

The food here is okay. There's nothing spectacular about their dishes, but if you want a plate of pasta or a sandwich that doesn't taste awful and tastes about how it should, then this is a safe place to go with. I recommend the fettuccine alfredo and the macaroni and bacon al gratin pasta as their better dishes. The restaurant itself doesn't look particularly special either. It's clean and bright though, and a lot of families with young children go there to eat. There are booster chairs available. For adults, there are several booths available to sit at with large, accommodating tables that could probably each fit eight or so people.

If you compare this place with a formal Italian restaurant, the food is going to fall far short but if you accept this place for what it is, then I think Pallino does an excellent job. This is something between fast-food and formal sit-down dining. In other words, there's no way I would ever go out of my way to come eat here but if I happen to be in U-Village, I would definitely put this place (and Boom Noodle) at the top of my list. The prices are quite reasonable and while the sauces can be a bit pedestrian, they are more than satisfying. The pizza's, I think, are the big standout. If you like a super-thin, Neapolitan style crust then these are definitely the pizzas for you. Of course, the thing I love most about this place is that on Sundays and Wednesdays "kids eat free." When you're at U-Village running errands, carting kids around, it's nice to know that you can feed yourself and your kids a fairly tasty and filling meal on the cheap.

Absolutely no complaints. Super fast. Absolutely delicious. (I had the Chicken Frutetto Salad...possibly the best salad I've ever had). Reasonably priced, especially in the U Village area.

This place is sad. Please save your money and go somewhere else. I was hoping for better, but this place has the food quality of an Olive Garden with the charm of a Taco Bell (which I have nothing against Taco Bell service, I just expect Taco Bell prices to go along with it) Harsh? I don't think so, because you could get a much better burger right down at Eureka for the same money. The quality of the pasta and ingredients does not merit the price ($8/9 + tip?). Not going back.

  • Laurel M.

I'm never disappointed here. Love their pasta and their pizza. Good sauces. Slightly pricier than other quick-service places in U VIllage, but if you look at it from the standpoint that you get a good, filling Italian meal in a booth, it's a good deal. Always a fan of this place!

Pallino Pastaria is a cute place to check out for a casual lunch. The atmosphere is laid back, they offer good food, and decent staff. Prices are fairly reasonable the flavors are decent. The pizzas, pastas, and salads are good and the flavor profiles are exactly what you would expect. Nothing wowing but solid flavors and quick service. That for me makes it a worthwhile choice for lunch. Service is quick and most of the staff know the menu inside and out. So if you aren't too sure, ask them for help! With easy parking and shopping nearby, it is a great place to stop for lunch and catch up with a friend.

When I get a choice between pizza or pasta I always choose pasta. I came here about a year ago with my boyfriend and we weren't impressed and haven't had the urge to return yet. I tried the one at the airport and it was decent, nothing to boast about. So recently I was working near U-Village and in the mood for some pasta so I decided to try it again. Unfortunately it's still not impressive. Maybe I should try their pizza that everyone is raving about. I dont hate it here, just dont think it's worth it, not that it's very expensive, but still..

There are some surprises here. The Dolcetto salad is tasty, and the soda fountain dispenses soda water. The pasta and sauces are A-OK. I think they're going in the wrong direction, menu-wise; as an earlier reviewer put it: Americanized Italian sit-down fast food dining. Not organic or locally sourced. It's "A-OK."

A friend of mine used to work at U Village and would eat here often. She was in the mood for it so we stopped in for lunch. I decided to try the Chicken Frutetto salad. Oh my was that tasty! It was the perfect blend of everything I like in a salad. Greens, chicken, fruit, nuts with some gorgonzola and bacon thrown in for good measure. The reduced fat honey mustard dressing was the perfect topper to bring everything together. I would totally eat here again, no question! One of the best salads I have had in awhile for sure!

Wow, I can't believe I'm only the second person to review this place! I've been a loyal fan of Pallino for a few years now. My mom used to come visit me at UW and we'd go to U Village and I'd end up talking her into buying me lunch at Pallino. It's an easy enough place - you just stand in line, order at the counter, sit down, and they bring you your food. It's not very expensive and the portion sizes are adequate but not ridiculously huge. I like the spaghetti pomodoro, the sun dried tomato pesto with penne, and I believe I had the fettucini alfredo as well. The bread is good as well, and seems to come with all the pasta dishes. It's also a good place from which to grab take-out. Sometimes it can take awhile for them to make your order, but it just depends on how busy they are. I haven't been in awhile but I look forward to going back one of these days... I just need to wait until the holiday rush is over.

This is a very solid, happy 3 stars because Pallino is a great place to stop on the way home from work if you suddenly realize you can't stand the idea of cooking tonight. The food is not gourmet or exciting by any means, but it's decent and tasty for what it is. I had a servicaeble enough fettucine alfredo, which came with a nice piece of bread and only cost about 8 bucks. My husband had a salad and "fettucine gorgonzola." One soda, one water and $25 later we were full, happy and heading home. It's not fancy but it is a step above quite a bit of takeout or fast food. It would probably be a good place for kids -- they do have a kids menu. They have counter service mainly, although they do bring your food to you after giving you a numbered table tent. This is just fine with me. The young folks working there were friendly enough and everything was clean and comfortable.

This review is only for the gelato, I haven't tried the food here. This is by far the best gelato I have ever tasted hands down! Not too many flavors, but they carry the simple flavors that make you remember why you like gelato in the first place. I ended up getting the hazelnut and boy was it rich and creamy just the way I like it. If you're not a "nut-flavor" fan, I advise that you don't get this because it does have that "nutty" taste. The flavor reminded me of a toned down nutella only in a creamy cool form. The service wasn't too bad too. Five stars ONLY for the gelato.

  • Shasta L.

OK, so maybe the pasta here is meant for children because it tastes a little like Chef Boyardee, but that was good eats when I was 8 years old, and I do love nostalgia. The margherita pizza is honestly good. It's made quickly with fresh basil and more often than not, the thin crust is not burnt up like a fire log. I appreciate it. Now, the gelato? It's da bomb. Vanilla and hazelnut are DELICIOUS, and I've been known to walk out happily with three scoops in my belly.

I used to come here all the time with my mother for lunch after SYSO. It's a quick and nice stop for a meal. The set up of this restaurant is great, it has checker board floors and high ceilings. It kind of reminds me of an old fashioned diner. I like the smells that enter your nostrils when you enter the restaurant. It smells of fresh tomatoes & garlic, one of my favorite smells. The place doesn't get too busy, even around the meal times. I like that about this restaurant. I know, I know, usually when it's crowded, it means it's good right? However, I don't want to be waiting forever for my meal! I've tried a few items on their menu, and have been satisfied with each. The sun dried tomato pesto with penne is a great choice. Pesto is my favorite pasta sauce, and it is made very deliciously here. I haven't tried any of their pizzas, but the roasted veggie sounds good. The chicken pesto sounds fantastic as well. Paninis are one of my favorite foods, and I like to order them when they are available. I like the grilled pollo panini the best. It is chicken breast, fresh mozzarella, provolone, tomato, basil, and balsamic dressing all layered between bread. The best part about this sandwich is how the two cheese melt together, as well as the crunch of the bread. My mother often likes to order salad when we eat out. I really like the salads here. The 'dolcetto' is amazing. It has spring greens, red flame grapes, dried cranberries, toasted almonds, gorgonzola, and balsamic dressing. The Pallino chop salad is also great. It contains crisp greens, grilled chicken, salami, four cheeses, gorgonzola, tomatoes, garbanzo beans, and pumpkins seeds all tossed in a herb vinagrette. New to my knowledge, breakfast is served here as well! The selection is limited, but it sounds pretty decent. The menu includes, egg sandwiches and scrambles, toast, oatmeal, and granola. I'm definitely coming back here for another meal, it's priced well and tastes just as wonderful!

The food here is good but a bit pricey for the amount of food you get. If you go here, make sure to get the Cheesy Flatbread as a starter! All of the entrees sound delicious - my friend got the pesto pasta and it was amazing. I got the tuna melt and it wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped. The description said that there were onions and capers in it, but I only found a few capers and a couple slivers of onions in mine.

For a quick version of Italian food, Pallino is on the expensive side, but still probably the best bang for your buck if you're going to go to University Village. I've tried the ravioli arrabiata and the forest mushroom with penne. The arrabiata sauce was quite good, but the ravioli was no better than what you might buy at the grocery story; the mushroom sauce on the penne was better. I came here once on a day I had to study, and they had no problem with me staying over an hour and providing multiple drink refills (some days require more caffeine than usual).

I had a meeting near U-Village and wanted to grab a bite beforehand. I was going to go to Zao Noodle Bar. I'd walked past this place 100 times, but had never gone in. Alas, I went to peek at their menu on-line and discovered that they had closed for good a few weeks earlier. And, so, I went to Plan B. I'd been to Pallino before, but the last time had probably been at least ten years earlier. I remembered it as being casual and comfortable and a good place to grab a quick meal by myself. Seemed like it was due for another visit. Basically, it was just as I remembered. I plopped my belongings at a comfy booth and went to order at the counter. I had noticed the Arrabiata sauce (spicy tomato and roasted pepper) on-line, had planned to order that and was bummed to see it was served with a ravioli (which I did not want) instead of just plain pasta (which I did). They might have let me order my desired combo had asked, but I just went ahead and ordered the penne with pink sauce instead. I also ordered a glass of house wine which the manager served me, proclaiming it to be the "most important part" of the meal. :--) I took my wine and took my seat and waited for my pasta to be delivered to my table. It, and a piece of garlic bread, were soon placed in front of me. As I expected, the meal was basic, but perfectly acceptable. I was not made to feel rushed or uncomfortable as I sat alone, finishing my wine and doing some reading before heading off to my meeting. Since I seem to find myself at U-Village fairly frequently, it is safe to say it will be well less than ten years before I return to Pallino again. I still need to check out that Arrabiata. And, I saw a couple sharing a yummy looking artichoke dip that I'll need to try if I go back with the husband in tow.

Why do I keep coming back here? It's really not bad, but it's really not too awesome, either. Pros: Really great service. Dolcetto Salad - Love this! Lobster Ravioli - decent Spaghetti meatball - bland sauce, meatballs decent Mama's meat sauce - decent Super fast italian comfort food. Cons: Super fast italian food = packaged sauces Satisfying, but not great. Pricey for 'fast food' at 10 bucks a plate of pasta Lots of kids in this location ALL the time. Love kids, but for some reason it's always super rowdy in here. Ok for a quick pit stop due to lack of choices in U-Village

I gave this place 4 stars because it's so yummy, there are so many options, and it's always easy to walk in and eat quickly/don't have to worry about tipping a waiter, etc....it's comforting and reliable food! I didn't give 5 stars because it's not my favorite ambiance. There are a lot of windows, so it just doesn't feel as cozy as some other Pallinos that I've been to, like the one at Redmond Town Center.

Good: for a casual lunch or dinner. The pasta is pretty corporate... that is, it's very reliable and consistent, so you know what you're ordering. I really like their penne dishes. My HANDS DOWN favorite, however, is the Pappa di Pomodoro soup. I used to come here for lunch all the time when I lived in Seattle, and what I miss most is this soup. It's a slightly tangy Florentine tomato soup with chunks of bread soaking up the flavorful goodness and melted cheese over it all. DELICIOUS. Decent and friendly service, as well. And finally, the gelato is a pretty good way to end the meal! Downside: lots of families come here over the weekends, and sometimes you're seated next to screaming kids. This is definitely kid friendly, but it is not always friendly for people who just want to sit down to a nice, comfortable, and quiet meal. I suggest coming during the week for lunch or come in a for a slightly later dinner after most of the kids have come and gone.

If you don't go for the meat options this is a decent meal at a decent price. The tomato pesto penne has a very nice aroma to it. Ordering process is a bit oddball.

I LOVE this place. If you are looking for something fancy, this isn't the place to come, but there's nowhere better for a casual lunch. The people are always friendly and knowledgeable, and I think the prices are reasonable. I usually get salad and a pasta dish, and I've never been disappointed. The service is fast and friendly. The portion sizes are nice, not too small but not stuff-yourself huge. Some of the other reviews mentioned things the restaurant didn't do. If they don't give it to you, ask, and you will get it. If there isn't enough bread for you, ask, and they will bring you two or three more pieces on a plate. If you want olive oil and vinegar, they will bring that too. Overall, a great place to meet a friend to catch up!

On the surface, the high traffic and inviting cafe look would suggest this place offered something really good. However, my one and only visit was very disappointing. I tried two dishes, the first was spaghetti and meatballs, which was bland and poorly executed, even for a pasta that was served cafeteria style. The meatballs were not seasoned, even with salt. The noodles were overcooked and the sauce was non-existent. The dish as a whole reminded me of the canned spaghetti from Chef Boyardee. The second dish, a meat combo pizza was better with generous helpings of meat, but much too greasy. Many better options in the U-Village area, or for quick Italian.

Ordered spaghetti, and I was expecting something a little bit better, especially from a restaurant that specializes in Italian food. My spaghetti was just... spaghetti. Nothing extraordinary, really, but I was mostly upset about how much it cost for JUST spaghetti. Sigh. Atmosphere's kind of weird, too. My friend ordered pizza and it was a small serving; again, nothing out of the ordinary. Really just disappointing.

I enjoy coming here for some Italian fast food. Good food, appropriate prices, and the service is always good. I'm happy there's also one in Sea-Tac. It's always my go-to while I'm waiting for my flight.

Pallino is basically my default lunch/dinner place when I feel like quick italian food. I've tried basically everything and have no complaints about any of it. It's not amazing, but it's definitely good. In terms of what to order, I'm partial to the anna's sauce pasta. I wouldn't recommend adding chicken; they don't give you very much for $4.50. The chicken pesto pizza is probably my favourite of their pizzas, although you can't go wrong with the margherita. They also had a pretty good lunch deal going on for a while-- half a sandwich and soup or salad for $6.95, although I'm not sure if that's going on anymore. Lastly, hazelnut gelato. So. Good.

This place has decent food but service is well below par. Both times that I have been here with friends they have given our food to a different tables and act like nothing is wrong! Avoid!

This was good by surprise! The restaurant display didn't look so appealing as it looked boring. Plus there wasn't a rush (you know the hidden rule- it's good if it's packed). My husband chose this randomly when we were walking around U village. It smelled like funky cheese when we walked in. After ignoring that smell, I ordered chicken Alfredo and my husband ordered pesto pizza. Both our foods were served fresh. My pasta was good and not the typical Alfredo sauce that is bought from the store. It was very creamy and chicken was cooked properly. The pesto pasta was too good- it had delicious vegetables like tomatoes and artichokes. Great quantity too! The washrooms were big and clean. The service could've been a bit better with direct eye contact and more smiles.

First of all, the food isn't good. It's not inedible, about as good as a Stouffer's frozen Italian meal, but twice as expensive AND you order it at the counter. I did eat it, but wouldn't have if I wasn't extremely hungry. The wine was terrible. You get two choices; red or white. It undoubtedly came out of a bag in a box, but I've had better box wine so who knows what they're serving. The only reason we decided to give it a try was because kids "supposedly" eat free on Wednesdays with adults. But as with many of these ploys for parents, this wasn't quite true. I had lasagne and my wife had half a sandwich and a salad. Her two items cost MORE than the least expensive entrees but they charged us for our second kids mini pizza because she didn't order an entree. Of course they didn't tell is this and we had to request a receipt (they didn't offer one) to confirm that we had been charged....after we had paid. The kid that was working the register was clearly annoyed to be there at all and gave generous servings of snotty goth attitude to all customers including us. So he rolled his eyes, brushed his hair behind his gauged-out ears, and sarcastically summoned his manager when I questioned the policy and our bill. The manager informed me that we had to order an entree and not a combo to get the free mini pizza worth $5.25....even though we spent $41.00 on food and wine (bad food and wine). I explained that we were new to the area and it was out first time in the restaurant, but it didn't matter. He offered us a cookie, I declined and left unhappy. Needless to say, we won't be returning. 1 star for being edible, and another because the girl that brought our food and cleared the table was very nice. Not recommended.

This place in my opinion tends to be one of the less expensive options at U-Village. I used to love this place but my last time around, it didn't hit the spot as it had in the past. I got the rigatoni as I did the last few times there but rather than the lightly crunchy al dente, it was just plain crunchy. There was little to no meat as compared to in the past and the sauce didn't wow me as much as it had either. A little disappointing this time around...maybe I'll give it another try one of these days.

Nothing special. I enjoyed the pizza and salad, but it was rather bland and the place was very noisy and disorganized. The prices are reasonable and it is a quick food court type restaurant for when you are out shopping in the mall, but I would much rather wait it out and go up the street to Jak's after shopping :)

It's not the most fanciful place or the most authentic, but it is tasty for a good price. I love their mac n cheese!

I used to work across from this place but never once went in. This Friday I decided to put a stop to that and ordered the Sundried Tomato Pesto Penne, and well... to be honest I left really unhappy. For the most part, I think portions are too large in American restaurants, and the prices too high. I'm giving this two stars because the food was good but that was it. The portion was NOT a ten dollar portion. It was about half what I had expected and really didn't satisfy me at all. It's good food and the service is nice but it's too expensive for an eat from a tray type place with portions that small. Maybe I just went on a day when they ran out of large plates, but to me it was just no where near enough food for the money.

I absolutely loved the chicken basil pesto panini offered here. Its difficult finding an upscale casual Italian restaurant that offers a chicken basil panini (my absolute most favorite sandwich ever). Pros: - Inexpensive, and quick - Casual yet still classy ambiance - Tasty paninis (not so sure about their pastas, however).

I'm pretty sure this place is like Olive Garden in that the only operating appliance back in the kitchen is the microwave. My dish tasted like it had been heated up in the back somewhere. And while the flavor of my fettucine alfredo wasn't horrible, it certainly wasn't worth the price. It tasted comparable (maybe slightly better) than something you'd get in a jar at the grocery store. My friend ordered the entre-sized caesar salad and it looked decent enough. My main gripe with this restaurant was the obvious lack of hygiene. We struggled to find a table that wasn't full of crumbs, or had some liquid spilled across it. It was around 7:00 PM on a weekday night and the place was nearly empty so there was no excuse for them to leave the tables so filthy.

Americanized Italian sit-down fast food dining. Get it? Ok. It's a quick convenient sit-down meal without all the fuss. There are great big menus behind the counter for you to decide what to order (soup, salad, pizza, pasta, sandwich). You order, grab a table, and they bring the food to you. Relatively affordable for a sit-down meal in UVillage ($8, $9 for a pasta entree). Not good value compared to Olive Garden (bigger portions there), but probably the best that you're gonna get at a fancy schmancy outdoor shopping plaza. Apparently the pizzas are good? I've only ever gotten pastas and like the meat sauce rigatoni. I mean, there's already meat in there! But the meatballs for an extra $3.50 are pretty good, too.

Serviceable with staff that looked unenthusiastic. Decent destination with a wide selection, especially for folks on a budget with a hungry tween wanting pasta. Good thing though, we had enough to splurge on a cone at Molly Moon's. Visit was back on 5/30/14, just found the takeout menu hence the belated Yelp post. Next time just wander diagonally and eat at Liam's instead for better quality pasta with Beecher's Cheese and livelier staff.

We stopped in for a quick lunch yesterday. My husband and I split a turkey muffuletta and caesar salad. Two bites into the salad, he almost chips his tooth on a rock in said salad. I poked through my salad, thinking he was crazy and that must of just been a lemon seed and sure enough - find a rock in mine as well. We send the salad back and they offered to make another, which was really the last thing we wanted to have at that point. We told them no, and they said "OK". No additional offer or care to make this right. Not even an "I'm sorry". Between the inability to properly wash lettuce and the lackluster service - I will never go here again, nor would I recommend anyone else to.

A corporate chain restaurant with a reasonable variety of Pasta offerings. They're no bargain, and the staff all does things by the corporate book, but the food is fine, fast and easy - and there are times when that's just what you need, and sit-down pasta is a step up from a fast-food restaurant.

We only come here to bring the kids. They live the pasta but the servings could be bigger. They have bigger appetites than the kids serving allows for, and honestly the adult size isn't much bigger. Decent sandwiches, pizzas and salads for the parents.

Today was the first meal I've gotten from Pallino. I work nearby and called in a takeout order to be picked up on my lunch break. My order was ready exactly when they said it was, and was absolutely delicious (I got a plain order of Fettuccini Alfredo). My only gripe is that for the price of a standard Italian restaurants plate I get half of the food. I can get a plate of Alfredo at Olive Garden for the same price, and they'll give me double the pasta. Judging by the previous reviews I'm obviously not the only one who thinks this, and I hope the owners take their customer's thoughts into consideration. I'm all for small portion sizes, but if I'm getting half a serving of pasta I expect to pay half the price.

Although I've only been here once, my experience was overall great! It was good enough if you just want a quick place to get pasta at U-Village at a cheap price. I had their fettuccine alfredo and it wasn't too much or too little. It was enough for a nice lunch break and the workers didn't take long to serve the food.

I don't love pizza, but their pizza is tha bomb!! Pricey? Not sure what the last reviewer got to eat that was pricey but the small pizzas are $7 and some change... and they are pretty good size! The large is $12 but it could easily be shared. The BBQ pizza is delicious. I've had it twice now, never been disappointed. The crust is thin but very good. I am a fan of this place, perhaps next time I will try something new... either pasta or a panini!

Nice little place to grab a quick pizza or pasta. It's not spectular food, but for the price it's perfect. Fast service, decent seating. You will be sitting down and eating in just a couple minutes. Great for a break while shopping.

Blegh. Terrible, just terrible. We only came here because it was 9:30 pm on a Saturday in University Village and pretty much everything counter-service was closing down. (Ding Tai Fung had a super long line, and Veggie Grill already closed). The Sun-dried tomato penne was disgusting -- it tasted like jarred Olive-tapenade mixed with blendered bagged sun-dried tomato. The penne pasta itself was lifeless and soggy. Gross, seriously just gross. The bacon, turkey panini was average -- bacon is bacon (not too many pieces) and the turkey is not much better than your grocery-store sliced turkey. Come here as a last resort if you must, but otherwise skip. Terrible cafe food. I've had much better at other chain cafes like Corner Bakery or Panera.

Pallino's is a good place for families and casual occasions. I come here with my friends to eat when I feel like sitting down, but it's still informal. I like their pizza a lot, but as far as the pasta goes, it's definitely nothing special. I also think that everything is priced a little too high for the quality of the food. It is a second rate place and the interior is not that attractive, but there is a lot of natural light. The staff are really friendly. If you're looking for a good place to hangout and get some pizza, Pallino's is a good choice!

My husband and I had errands to run at U-Village and wanted to include a much needed lunch date. We had never been here before but checked out the menu online ahead of time and decided to give it a try. We are both very glad we did! I had a side Caesar salad and cup of minestrone soup; he had the grilled chicken polo sandwich with side of carrots. We liked the atmosphere and service and both enjoyed our meal. We will definitely be back.

This is basically Italian fast food. When the time calls for that combination, it hits the spot. Caesar salads and gelato here are pretty good. Which probably isn't the point. Nonetheless, I love the way they shred the cheese (like thin puzzle pieces) and the gelato is super creamy. My favorite flavor is probably the pistachio. Pizza here is decent as well. I enjoy the margherita pizza, but Delfino's a few stores down is way better. I think pasta is its weakness. I would probably go with the Anna's Sauce, but I mean...it's just plain pasta. I like veggies or something with my pasta. I think this place is kind of overpriced for what it is too. Italian fast food tends to cost more than everything else at the food court in general and I can't figure out why! At the end of the day, this is ok Italian fast food. It's exactly what it sounds like.

Basically a so-so Italian place. It's alright. Food isn't bad, but it isn't particularly great either, and unfortunately there's a lot of other places to eat nearby with significantly better food for the same price.

Where's the sausage? My wife ordered an Italian Sausage sub sandwich. The sandwich that came to the table contained paper thin slices of meat and a skimpy serving of cheese. Not a good value. Won't go back.

i had a soup and salad for dinner here, and it was alright. the soup (italian wedding soup) was not so flavorful, but the salad (a 1/2 dolcetto salad) was plenty of food and was quite tasty. there's a lot of seating in the place, and a mix of large/small group table seats. value for the $ was on par with what i expected.

Their food is good, I just wish you didn't have to stand in line, read the menu in line, etc. If you're looking for a very casual, cheap lunch, this is a good spot.

  • Ema C.

Eh, unless I want to throw away some money, I wouldn't come here. You don't get much for what you pay and there's no combination options if you order a pasta dish. The bread stick you get is actually cut in half (I was bummed, because they didn't even give you butter or olive oil/balsamic vinegar). The sauces are pretty subpar and I know of some very good CANNED spaghetti sauces that taste better. Also, no student discount either. Save yourself some money and go to the Spaghetti Factory instead, where you'll get an entire meal that tastes decent for the same price of one measly dish here. I'll PASS. :(

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
