HA! This place is a kick in the pants. After a civilized evening of drinks and a friend's show at the High Dive, we stumbled over to Norm's for a post-drinking drink, at about 11pm. We were eagerly greeted at the door by Zeus, a 200+lb mastiff, and his side-kick "ID Checker-man" ID-Checker-man did a great job welcoming us in, and we were fortunate enough to quickly find a 4 top to suit our drunk asses. Upon close examination, I realized our surrounding table dwellers were swigging on 40 oz. bottles of PBR in brown paper sacks! Holy Gangsta, Batman. We have found the mother ship. We immediately ordered them for ourselves, and I am proud (and equally ashamed) to say that I downed mine first. Just the right ending, to my booze fueled evening. Other than the obvious, I like to get drunk, and so I enjoyed my time at Norm's, I liked other things. Like the decor... I'm a dog person, so for me it was like being at home. An even though at first glance it may seem unappealing, I kind of liked the mouse-in-a-maze feeling I had while trying to locate their bathroom while intoxicated. I wonder how many poor souls have pissed their pants looking for the john in that place.

You just gotta love a place that allows dogs (even if my ill-behaved dog would NEVER be able to go). The servers, often tangled in a mess of leashes and numerous paws, are always good-humored. I prefer it for happy hour over breakfast, but whenever you go it's a good time in the Fremont neighborhood!

My friends and I hit up Norm's virtually every Thursday for Trivia Night. The atmosphere is laid back (you'd think they would have to be if they let people bring dogs in), the dogs are usually well behaved, and the beer selection is fair. The trivia is fun ($5/team) and pretty diverse in questions (pop culture, history, sports, etc), but lately I wish they wouldn't do two Grab Bag categories (it's usually broken up into four categories: a specific topic [e.g. recently it was Stars from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the movie], I Love the 80s, and two Grab Bag categories). The food is fine (their mac and cheese is pretty tasty, and I like their turkey cranberry sandwich), but the service is kind of crappy (granted, I am going on busy Trivia Nights, but it still shouldn't take nearly half an hour to get a glass of water); hence, 3 stars from me.

Went here for dinner on a Tuesday evening and really enjoyed the food and beer. I had a meatloaf BLT sandwich that was delicious and was too much food so it became lunch the next day. A good step up from your standard bar food. This place is very dog friendly, so if you don't like being around dogs, i would recommend going someplace else. While you're there, walk around the neighborhood and see all the statues.

I'm not usually a Yelping Negative Nancy, but I had the worst brunch of my Seattle life here last weekend. We chose Norm's because the other FOUR places we tried to go were closed. (I didn't think the pacifists who run Silence, Heart, Nest were into putting knives through people's heart's, but they did this weekend when I had my heart set on introducing them to my out-of-town guests and they stonewalled me by going on some sort of pilgrammage!). I also chose Norm's because the owners are purportedly from the same lil' town in the Midwest where I went to college, and I wanted to support them. We got there at 1:15pm on a Sunday and were ignored for a while. Then we were told they were too busy and needed to clear tables, and that would take at least 20 minutes. You'd think they'd just want to get us seated and get the end of the brunch rush over with, already. But no. The waitress seemed kind of annoyed that we asked if we could sit near the bar while we waited. Which was weird and irritating in and of itself, because while she probably didn't realize it, one of the people I was with has some special needs. So we sat, but not without witnessing the huge chip on the server's shoulder. We were then given excuses that there was no clean dish ware, that we could later seat ourselves at one of the 4 empty tables in the back but probably wouldn't be served for a while, yada yada yada. It was like she was trying with all her might to get us to go somewhere else. All we had done was walk through the front door. Sorry, lady, we already tried. Asteroid = closed. SHN= closed. Paseo = closed. Brouwer's = rented for a private party. We're fecking hungry and tired of looking, and you're OPEN. We finally ordered food. I will say that my boyfriend's Ale House salad was a very good salad, and the fried calamari on it was very nicely done. In fact, I wish I had ordered it, because I was served the lamest excuse of a breakfast I have ever stooped to pay for. I got a salmon omelet, and it wasn't smoked salmon, and it didn't seem like particularly fresh salmon, either. It was the fishiest salmon I have ever eaten in this town where people generally know how to do salmon right. My fruit salad had three near rotten pieces of pink grapefruit in it. To the point where one of my friends said, "What IS that?" They were melty and slightly slimy. It was a shame. My "home fried potatoes", or whatever the heck they were, were as hard as hockey pucks. You know the little blackish-brown ones, that have been overcooked because it's the end of a batch and they're fried to tooth-breaking oblivion and have been sitting on a hot metal surface for 2hours and shouldn't be considered food any longer? Well, the "chef" deemed it passable to give me a plate full of those. I actually went back to the menu to see if the omelet was supposed to be served with potato skins. Because that's what I was given. Post-nuclear holocaust potato skins. The toast was soggy with some indescribable melted industrial margarine crap. And I was very, very unhappy. Why didn't I advocate for myself, you ask? Send the plate back? It was pretty obvious after the super lame treatment we had already gotten that service was not going to be a part of our experience. I didn't feel that I could remedy the situation. All I wanted to do was take my plate to the kitchen and say, "Guys, are you kidding me? Do you really expect someone to eat this?" And then bounce a hockey puck, I mean, potato skin, off someone's forehead. Lesson learned: If you go to Norm's for food, order the Ale House Salad. Or, better yet: just don't go to Norm's for food. Wah.

Good burger. Good fries. Waiter forgot about us and we were there forever. Other than that I would return.

I love Norms!!! There is no other way to put it. I go here at least once a week with my boyfriend and our dog Rita. I love anywhere that my dog can come too! The staff are efficient and easy to chat with, even tolerating my boyfriend's awkward sense of humor. I get the Ale House Salad with veggie sausage every single time. I should probably branch out but I just love it so much and get random cravings all the time for it. The waitress we had last week during the Seahawks playoff game even comped my dish when the kitchen accidentally sent it out prepared the wrong way and didn't make me feel dumb about it. My boyfriend loves the Gorgonzola Mac & Cheese and it is most definitely delish. Anytime we have guests in town, we make sure to bring them here. Bottom line: we will be coming to Norms for many years to come.

Place is okay, nothing special. The prices are decent, food is good, and the service is quick. Funny as even though they allow dogs inside the music, people, and tv's are louder than the few barks... Place is clean too, even though they let the dogs inside.

  • Hodi P.

I have to give it 5 stars because my dog told me to. I love bringing Guido (my four legged friend) to Norm's at any time. Weekend afternoons and trivia nights are his favorites. You can't go wrong with dogs in a bar. I love it! The food and happy hour specials are good too and I have always had great service. Even when I have been on the lookout for sheisty bartenders!

    (5)
  • Isaak H.

I haven't been here during the evenings yet. During the day it's a great place to grab lunch and some brrrr while chatting with friends or watching the game on large screen. The dogs are usually well behaved, on leashes and out of the way, so it's still human-friendly and comfortable to eat here. The food: Great burgers, Sliders, Double Deck BLT :D, and the peanut butter chili ain't bad. The service is friendly.

Must have drove a thousand times over the years,i finally decided to try it,very good food, the burgers are better than most places, good overall place to have lunch or dinner, expect me to return sometime soon.

This place is Awesome! They have great food and a great happy hour plus you can bring your best buddy (your dog). I love it!

    (5)
  • Yiling W.

Dog-themed, dog-friendly eatery with good happy hour prices and a decent burger. Caveat: this is based on one visit, and as soon as happy hour hit, our waiter disappeared to serve others for a surprisingly long time -he did warn us it would happen, but we didn't think it would take quite so long to flag him down for our check..

    (3)
  • Zoe C.

Hard as I try I just can't think of a bad thing to say about Norm's. If you don't love dogs this isn't a place for you. I love being able to take my dogs out to dinner with me, eat a great burger and not have people turning their noses up at me for having the dogs in tow. Our Hounds think the fries here are the best in town!

  • Laura L.

I have been to this place about 25 times since 2004/03. I love the beer selection, service, crowd and the staff. The chicken wings are awesome. One time I bit into one and the hot sauce squirted "someone" in the eye. Ok, it was me. It was a hilarious and embarrassing moment, as I was kind of on a date. Ok it was a first date. The experience was traumatic for all involved, but totally not Norm's fault. Go here- drink beer. Get a 40 or a 22 in a paper bag and reminisce, pour some out fo yo bros. :) Weekends are crowded but it is worth it. Summers are the best time to come. Finally, as a nod to the reviewer who gave Norm's two stars: this place is not for the pretentious.

    (5)
  • Maya H.

Norm's was a nice pub. They have a nice assortment of beer on tap and yummy burgers with perfectly crisp fries. House wine is so-so. They were busy so the service was okay, probably good for how busy they were. There is a big TV inside and dogs are allowed so there were lots of dogs and they were all well behaved. It was sunny so we sat outside which was nice in March, especially if you're from NH! There is a speaker that plays whatever sports match is on or music. It was an enjoyable hour spent in Fremont.

Food: My wife and I originally came here because we could bring our dog. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. We have the veggie sliders and chips almost every time. By the way, you can specially order a "small" bowl of chips if the huge "big" bowl of chips is too much. Decor: Unique and amazing. I would come here even if I didn't have a dog. Having the dogs around makes for great entertainment. If you don't like having dogs around, then obviously don't come here. I can't understand some of the reviewers who complain about the dogs - they shouldn't have come here in the first place. Service: Never had a problem. Service is not quick, but not too slow. Price: Very cheap. My wife and I share 2 orders of veggie sliders, an appetizer bowl of chips and each have a beer and the bill is around $25 with tip.

  • Dawn F.

Happy hour is amazing! bacon wrapped shrimp, mmmm! Brandi is great and all of the staff seems to have been there forever--that is always a good sign. Our dogs are encouraged to sit with us in the booth and they get tons of attention which they love!

  • Jennifer P.

The concept of this place is pretty awesome. Pretty freaking cool that you can bring your dogs inside. The food was surprisingly great too. Turkey burger and Greek salad were delicious! The service was not enthusiastic or welcoming but did they're job. They also didn't have a dog menu which seems like a no brainer.

    (4)
  • Alysha C.

Norms is a fabulous place that anyone with a dog should eat at. They are pretty much the only dog friendly bar that doesn't just count outdoor space as dog allowed. The food is quite tasty as well. Thursday nights are trivia night which can be a good time. I tried the Brie app and loved it.

It seems that most reviewer's happiness in patronizing Norm's is based on the fact they allow dogs into the bar. While I don't mind dogs, my review has nothing to do with their canine clientele, but with the experiences I've had with the food, drink and service. I went into Norm's the other day, late afternoon with my significant other to have lunch and a beer. The waitress was friendly and "Johnny-on-the-spot" right off the bat, which was cool. We got a beer, and after ordering enjoyed the calm atmosphere while waiting for our food. There were just a few other people in the bar and we got our food fairly quickly. I had a burger and my wife had the meatloaf sandwich. The burger was okay, I'd say. Nothing special, a little over cooked, but alright. My wife loved her meatloaf sandwich, so kudos for that! I finished my beer and continued to eat my lunch, all the while expecting the server to see my dead soldier in front of me and offer up a new recruit! I waited and waited. I noticed our server was sitting at the bar. After about ten more minutes or so, our server was still sitting at the bar chatting with another employee. I sat a little longer and finally got up and headed over behind her to say "excuse me, my wife and I need some help here" She looked around and sounded surprised and said 'Oh, would you like something else?" (Why... fuck yes, we would! Get off your ass and do your job!) I didn't say that of course, but I was thinking it. I said "thank you" and I ordered another beer, after which we had to wait longer to get the check! Most of the time that we've been to Norm's it's been pretty good. Nothing spectacular, but alright. The beer choice is pretty good, the food is okay and most of the time, the service is alright. I'm hoping today was a bit unusual. It's your basic neighborhood bar. A little grungy, well used and comfortable. Oh......and they allow dogs.

I loved Norm's, they have some of the best sandwiches in Seattle and their portions are fit for Man Vs Food. I had the BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato sandwich) which was to die for, and my boyfriend got their meatloaf sandwich which he said was one of the best he'd ever had. Also great salads. Amazing service as well. Don't go here if you don't like dogs though! My dachshund had a great time meeting dogs10 times her size and pouncing on scraps we dropped "accidentally" :-D

  • Emily U.

It was a little odd that the bar is so dog-themed but that's OK because I love dogs and I LOVE golden retrievers. We only stopped in for a bit to have a bloody mary and appetizer. They were fine. Also had the shrimp appetizer. Not so good. Shrimp seemed overdone and lacked taste. But overall, this would be a great place to go out during the weekend, just kind of dead during the day on a weekday.

  • DrinkingMan F.

This bar can go one of two ways: kick ass if you have a table, or really shitty if you get stuck standing. The room is long and narrow, and can get crowded at times. I think the 40s deal is a little overrated, and drinking them out of bags its just plain stupid. Either way, this is one of the top spots in Fremont, and usually is at its best after 11 or so on weekends when all the tools move on to dancing.

    (4)
  • Josephine M.

Yes, it's true, the 40 in a paper bag is highly amusing one or two nights a year. Otherwise, I can't stand this bar. It's a very narrow space, with as many tables scrunched in as possible, and it always seems to be crowded, even when it's not standing room only (which it always seems to be in the evenings). The college crowd is here in force, and often takes over the bar completely. You won't find the variety of clientele here as you would at The High Dive, Dad Watsons, or The Dubliner. Finally and most importantly, it takes longer than it should to get over-priced, poorly-made drinks. Go elsewhere, unless you just really need to pay a 50% markup to drink your 40 in public.

    (2)
  • Mark R.

$3 Imperial Pints of Guinness from 3pm-7pm...need I say more? Well, okay, $5 happy hour appies and all their draft is $3. It's great. Sometimes the dogs in the bar get a little out of control and I want to kick them and their damn neighbors but it's still a great happy hour.

    (4)
  • Christina S.

Norm's is a great laid back neighborhood bar. The food is good and the beer choices great. Norm's is also dog friendly before 10pm. They have fun trivia night on Thursdays too. The homemade potato chips and dip are really tasty. I also love the spinach salad.

I went there for the first time a few weeks ago and the bouncer remembered our little "incident". I'm over it, they are too..

  • KDcat T.

Any bar that lets you bring your diggity with you -rocks! Beer and food is fine, and certainly better with your dog, or at least a stranger's dog, as I have no dog of my own. I get my beer and dog fix all in one place. I love the northwest.

    (4)
  • Masanori T.

This is the only restaurant I know of where dogs like to come to & hang out, and they bring their humans with them & let them eat/drink while they wait :o) I came here with my pup after we had a dog play date in the neighborhood on a Sunday, and their happy hour is 10am-2pm with bellinis, mimosas, and bloody mary on special. I got the hash & eggs off their breakfast menu which was exactly what I needed at the time (a little tired from the night before). I would definitely come back, but definitely recommend this place to any dogs!

    (4)
  • King T.

I love this place because it has great food, good atmosphere, and dogs are allowed there.

    (4)
  • R L.

They are totally dog friendly! I like the atmosphere, and I love that they accept our dogs as the family members they are :) Food is good . . . not the ideal vegetarian menu, but certainly enough to manage. Service and management are great. They're very supportive of animal rescue organizations, and have hosted several fundraising events. I love the "Dogs welcome, children must be leashed" sign behind the bar! :) Totally fun, casual, friendly atmosphere.

We enjoyed taking our elderly, (sixteen year old), Brittany out to lunch, along with our eight year old daughter. Very kid friendly, we would say, at least at lunch time. Great fun was had by all, and we were impressed by how well the other pooches behaved. We look forward to returning.

Date: Summer 2006 Setting: N 36th Street Event: Trying to find somewhere to watch the Portugal vs. England game The George and Dragon was ridiculously crowded, so we wandered down the street to Norm's. The food was decent and the staff friendly and laidback. I haven't been at night tho.

    (4)
  • Tiny M.

Absolutely, paws down, best bar in Seattle! You can bring you best friend with you, as long as they behave well with others. Happy hour specials are second to none & food portions are generous. Probably the greatest pub grub around, with a relatively good on tap selection. Everyone, especially the bartender / wait staff, is exceptionally nice. Trivia night is out standing, an experience all to itself. Did I mention you could bring your dog along to chill with you?

    (5)
  • Ireina B.

I love norms! This place makes good drinks, and has amazing food!!!!! Plus you can bring your dog in.

    (5)
  • Scott J.

I love Norm's. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and awesome, and the trivia night rocks like none other. If you like a laid back place to have a beer with good company, this is the place.

    (5)
  • Nick J.

If you have a dog, this is the place to go! If you don't have a dog, this is a great place to go a few times. The food was great, service was great but our Guinness was a little warm. I loved it how the dogs start barking every once in a while. Happy Hour was our goal and along with the food it would be worth going back. The place fills up nicely and seemed a great meeting place if you had a dog!

    (4)
  • Lorie B.

This place is great! I can bring my dogs but it's not like an official, exclusive "dog bar." You know how Chuck E. Cheese sucks unless you really like kids or you're a parent yourself? This is different. Norm's is like a really cool pub with good food that happens to subtly allow dogs to quietly hang out. Seattle needs more places like this!! Good food, good beer, friendly service, GO.

    (5)
  • CO C.

Best burgers in Seattle. Great service. Terrific atmosphere. Dog friendly. 40s served in a bag! Love Norm's. Hands down one of my favorite places in Seattle.

    (5)
  • Brooke M.

Norm's rules. Their veggie burgers are awesome and so are their daily changing veggie fritatas. Oh, and did I mention they have beer and great mimosas? Perfect fix for any hangover. Just watch out for the waiter than ends every sentence with "Let's do this." I've tried to be funny and respond with "yes, let's do this." But it never gets a laugh.

    (4)
  • Ian M.

Seattle needs some more dog friendly establishments. The only thing I really, genuinely like about Norm's is the fact that I can bring my dog. I really want to like them more than that, but the second time I went there, I had a really tasty brunch, when I ordered Norm's Omelet (with smoked salmon) and every time since then, and the time before, it's been underwhelming--and I've kept ordering the same thing, hoping it'll be as good as my second visit there. That second visit though was really tasty, and I thought their potatoes were especially good, but sadly, the food on every other occasion has not even come close. They do have $4 Bloody Mary drinks on weekends until 2:00, though! The downside is that they kind of stink. :-\ I suppose, if all I wanted was a place to go with my dog and have some beers, it'd work pretty well, but it purports to be so much more than this, so I kind of expect a little more. Perhaps I'm being unreasonable with my relatively mild and relevant expectations? Depending on who your server is, your service may be pretty reasonable, even good, or it may be oh-my-god-lemme-get-a-hit-of-whatever-he-has-because-apparently-time-stops-and-that's-gotta-be-cool-if-not-a-little-freaky slow. Also, if the primary lavatory is occupied, consider waiting for it, because the journey to and from the "additional restrooms" (satellite restrooms, perhaps?) is long, arduous, and potentially confusing, and man, are they ever sketchy in a manner most surreal. So, Tesla is very happy to go to Norm's. She's all "Yay! Yay! I am going to wrap my leash around the table twice in my excitement as I sniff passing dog anus!" And I'm all, "Well, at least Tesla's happy."

  • Adam S.

Not a bad fremont place. In fact it is one of the better ones. You can count on at least 1/2 the frat dip-shi** as any other place in Fremont. The food is okay, very expensive, but hey I guess they have to pay for all that security and stuff somehow. Fun crowd and overall an entertaining place. I should probably give it four stars.....but.

    (3)
  • Christopher C.

Norm's should definitely be included in your Fremont bar hopping routine. Friendly people, good food, decent prices, and they are dog-friendly! Good times....

Cool little pub. You can bring dogs and get 40s fo PBR in brown paper bags. Can't go wrong there

  • Angela P.

Norm's is a casual, traditional pub offering solid bar food. The beer and burgers are outstanding. I couldn't decide between the Jalapeno Macaroni & Cheese or a burger. Then I saw the special - Bacon Jalapeno Mac & Cheese BURGER! The burger was cooked exactly the way I like it and had the perfect jalapeno kick. The mac & cheese was so good; there was so much piled onto the burger it practically became a side dish! My husband had the wings; they were good but nothing special. The tater tots are really good too. Since we were heading to some breweries later, I opted not to have any beers but their selection is respectable. It was quiet in here on a weekday in the middle of the afternoon. There isn't much of a lunch crowd. I liked the laid back feeling here. If you're in the Fremont area and hungry for a good burger, you've got to go to Norm's!

  • Bobby D.

This place was fantastic! I had gotten into town late on a business trip, and walked all over Fremont looking for a place that was open - thankfully, Norm's was the only place that had their lights on past 11PM on a Sunday. I lucked out. From the get-go, I could tell that this place was legit. I was noticed right away by the waitress (who was doubling as a hostess at this point that night), who gave me a seat and helped me through their late-night menu. The food hit the spot that late in the evening - BBQ wings were crisp and tasty, and their pizza slices were gigantic! I ordered two slices thinking that they were a "normal" size relative to the pizza in my home area (northeastern US), but they were at least three times the size! So to say the least, I was stuffed after having two massive slices of pizza (one chicken, the other margarita). Great food, great service - I would highly recommend it!

  • Andre W.

I'd give this place 3.5 stars if I could. Saturday brunch was an exercise in patience. Bartender was great, but the waitress was a space-cadet. I've been here a few times and I do enjoy this place quite a bit, but I don't think I'll ever be a regular. Good drinks, pretty good beer list, and decent food. As a restaurant, I give 3 stars because of the service. As a bar, it gets 4. Side note: Norm's is dog friendly.

  • Chris P.

Fantastic! I hope I got your attention, because check this out: both food and service were a home run. We decided to try Norm's since it's close to home and pet friendly. Some friends also said the food was well worth the walk. We were greeted by some very friendly staff, and our server took very good care of us while we were there. They were polite and very easy going. The food is seriously amazing. Either that, or the planets were just in line yesterday. Their Guinness braised corned beef on the Reuben is really goo, and I am a serious Reuben junkie. They have a good beer selection (one of my faves- Bob's Brown Ale from Georgetown Brewing on tap), excellent options for my gluten free fiancé to munch, and a good atmosphere (the inside is a little dark, but I like the place). Two thumbs up to Norm's.

This place is a DREAM!!! Visiting from NY with my son and one of the dogs to keep me company, and a local friend took us to Norm's. My dog hesitated - never in NY, this could happen. But there was a few other canine patrons inside already. There are many restaurants that welcome dogs in the patio, but this is way beyond that! Decor was all about dogs. We had a breakfast - it was good. It was not fabulous, but it was good. And the fact that you can dine with your dog makes it perfect.

Norm's is ok. I went there a couple of years ago and then again last week. Both times were ok but not outstanding. I had a salad which was ok but truthfully really small for the price. We ordered tots as an appetizer. The spicy tot sauce really was quite chipotley (is that a word) and delicious. My Dad also had a salad and agreed it was kinda skimpy for the price. Both my Mom & Hubby had burgers. They agreed they were good but nothing to write home about. I would say these guys are solidly average. As for the dogs...I love the idea but the execution was not the best. There are some basic dog rules on the menu but they weren't enforced in any way. There was a dog sitting on the bench beside me (they aren't supposed to be on the furniture) that wouldn't stop barking and a dog that the owner wouldn't keep control of. It kept going under my table while we were eating. I love dogs but when I am eating I don't really want them in my face. Ugh

  • Theresa D.

Pet friendly with different areas to hang out and watch the game. Usually for places that allow pups they tended to give me a hard time because of my dog's size and breed. She's a pretty sizable pitbull and we'll behaved. I had no issues. If you and your friends are planning on drinking the same thing, order a pitcher. Much cheaper. Oh and if you're going to order a salad, appreciate the fried onion ring that tops it off ;)

TROLL STROLL! We came here pre-Fremont Troll Stroll to get some greasy grub in our stomachs before the chaos began. I loved that everywhere I looked, there were dogs hanging out under the table. I'm not sure that I'd bring my dogs, just because they'd bark at everyone and eat everyone's food...but it's cool that people can do that. When I got there on Saturday AM, there was a morning happy hour on bloody marys. Only $4 per drink. WHAT?! And they were really good, too. For food, I ordered a BLAT which came with salad (I'm not sure if it was supposed to - but it was a caesar salad and filled up half the plate) and then had some fries. When I received my food, I accidentally received the wrong order - my sandwich had an egg so I had to send it back. Maybe it would have been good? But it just wasn't what I was going for. The sandwich itself was awesome! It probably had extra spit in it from me sending it back. Kidding... The caesar was pretty dry and could have used more dressing. Like I said previously, I'm still not sure that I was supposed to get it. The place was packed and obviously very busy - so it's fine that things got a little messed up. However, it was confusing when we went to pay because our servers changed mid-service and the billing was messed up when we went to pay. I think this place would be great to come to for brunch on a weekend when a major Fremont event wasn't going on.

Ehhh. Just because you own a dog, doesn't mean you can let it bark and yap for most of the time you are there. I mean, I get it.. dogs make noise often at the sight of other dogs. And this is not at fault of the operators of Norm's, but owners really should have a better handle on their canines if they are to bring it to places with other dogs and humans. I didn't have any food here. They have an expansive list of things to choose from, but it seemed like mostly typical bar type of fare. The drinks are pretty run of the mill. Nothing really fancy. I own no dogs, I have no reason to come back here. Just to clarify, I love dogs and most of the dogs here were well behaved. But the one that was noisy had owners that didn't seem too interested in shutting it up. So you're likely to find that if you come here. Dog owners, go. Non-dog owners, skip.

I love the fact that dogs are allowed here, but that's pretty much the only highlight of this place. I ordered an Italian Greyhound cocktail that was supposed to come with muddled grapefruit and a Campari float... it was some vodka and store bought grapefruit juice in a small rocks glass. I ordered off the above bar menu with no prices listed and was shocked to find that awful beverage cost me $8. What a joke. The food was mediocre, every order had something missing or the dish was forgotten altogether, and the service took FOREVER. Bumping it up to 2 stars because of the cute puppies.

4 stars because they actually allow you to bring your pet into the restaurant with you. First time here and my husband was not too impressed. He got the clam chowder and he said it was just too creamy. I had a taste of his clam chowder and felt like it had too much spice in it. I got the Cinnamon sugar French toast. It was good but definitely very small thin slices of bread. I would have been fuller going to Ihop.$9.99 for 6 small slices was not worth it. It kid of look like something for a kid's menu. All in all I still like the fact that they allowed dogs to go all the way inside the restaurant but I wish their food was better.

Fun-ish place. Love that you can bring in your dog. Its basically just a standard place with pretty good beer. We never set out to go there but hang out there because its kind of a safe default.

Couldn't get in to see the wonderful Budos Band, because they were playing with local overrated hip-hop sensations the Saturday Knights.... Went here to drink Whiskey, and lament with my girlfriend before heading back to Ballard. The place was crowded, and they were playing sports on the t.v. sets. I sawed two Basset Hounds, which kind of made the night alot better. The drinks were good too. If I'm ever in Fremont with my dogs, and want whiskey and want to watch sports, and see lots of people wearing baseball hats backwards, and not get to see one of my favorite instrumental retro-funk bands playing a few doors down, I'll go here. Just The Ten Of Us Is On.... I Gotta Go. GRR

I went here last night and had a pretty good time. A good mix of people and a good atmosphere. I love that they sell 40s also. Don't worry! If you are to classy for 40s, they come in a brown paper bag. On a side note, two clearly straight women told me it was their one year anniversary and they wished guys (I was strongly implied) would stop hitting on them. Needless to say, it was the highlight of my night. To reiterate, good atmosphere and a good mix of people.

First time to Norm's although I've sauntered past it many-a-time. eet some friends there for dinner. None of us had dogs, but I sure will go back when I get mine! Haven't seen a more dog friendly place ever! I ordered the mac'n'cheese. It was alright. Had fresh veggies in it which weren't too bad. Except that there was a mountain of panko crumbs on top. WAAAYYY too many. I had to scoop them off into a tumbler just to get to the good stuff. Next time I think I'll order it without the crumbs, maybe on the side. The drinks were fair and the service wasn't A+ but there was only one server and quite a few tables. Needless to say I'd make the trip back with my pooch.

Yay for cheap happy hours! The appetizers are decent for the price during Happy Hour. The bacon-wrapped shrimp is pretty good. The warm brie with pears is definitely sparse, as noted by previous Yelpers, and the quality of the cheese is not the best. The service was slow, too. The only reason I'm rating it so highly is the ambiance is really laid-back and fun, the happy hour is good, and I love dogs.

I love that this place is geared towards the dog owner, that's a really cute concept. A friend and I went for lunch, and there were some ups and downs. We ordered two dishes to split. the first was the radical mac n' cheese. It had all kinds of veggies in it, fontina chese, and a nice crispy topping- the topping remained crispy until the last bite, which was impressive! however, i think it was a little lack luster on flavor- I just think it was a little under-seasoned. But it was still delicious, nothing a little table salt couldn't cure. Then we also ordered funeral fries- fries topped with mushroom gravy. sounds delicious, right, but it totally missed the mark. for the record, black mushroom gravy on top of fries- doesn't look as appealing as you would think. But willing to let me tummy do the judging, it was not that great. the bottom line- it was like a mouth full of salt. The gravy itself was heavily salted, but the fries were also generously salted...too much, and you are talking to a gal who loves her sodium! They were also supposed to be covered in cheese, and I felt they were a little chincey on the cheese. lol, one dish undersalted, one over salted- the only way to enjoy them both was to combine them and take bites of them together (which actually tasted pretty good!) the waitress noticed we had not finished the fries and we told her it's cause they were waaaay to salty, and without us asking, she took it off our bill! when we told her we didn't complain to get it taken off she was very polite, she said it was more important that we are happy customers, and they want us to come back in the future! so awesome of her to do that. and it worked, cause I think I would be willing to come back and give it another fair review just because she did that.

So we had a really bad experience at the ball room and wanted to still go out... why because were taking shots like no other and didn't want to drive home..... I remember long time ago liking norms and hoping that it was not overly crowded I would be one happy camper!!!!... yes there is an open table and no one is taking it.. so we take it.. and get served right away.. our girls night is going BETTER!!... we all decide to be ghetto and get beers in bags!!!!! cheap and they only made us pay for a few of them.. how awesome!!!!!!! it's not the classiest place.. but it was fun, and the people in there were so friendly.. girls, guys... people that worked there!!! it turned out to be a funner night.. yes I said funner... but whatever!! it was great.. :)

I admit it. I'm a bit too attached to my dog. I do not carry her in a purse or make her wear outfits (in public), but I do love to take her with me when I'm on the go. That said, you'd think I would have been to Norm's long ago. I had heard about the place for some time, but finally ventured in last month. With my four legged friend in tow, I cautiously entered Norm's. I have been in other establishments that were once dog friendly, but were no longer, so I asked if I could bring in my dog. The response was a hearty yes, and off we went. The food was typical bar fare. I had a veggie burger that they were happy to add avocado to. Mmm. The service was fine, the food was good, but the best thing about Norm's was that my little sidekick could come there with me. Probably not the best reason to give Norm 4 stars, but for a dog lover like myself, it's reason enough.

  • John S.

I've been to Norm's for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. Aside from the ultra-urban-homie-chic coolness of the 40's-in-a-bag, I'd have to say breakfast is my fave. The food is good but the best part is being able to sit there on a Sunday morning with your best 4-legged friend next to you, being treated like just another patron (or maybe even better). I was dog-sitting Gus the Golden Retriever for the weekend and Gus absolutely loves Norm's. So there was no debating our destination, Gus trumped us on the decision. This time around Gus actually got to meet the Norm (another Golden) and they really hit it off. My bonus of the day was being talked into a Bloody Mary by Belle, our server. Thanks Belle! They do their Bloody's right at Norm's, even include a couple of pickled beans!

Anywhere that doesn't look at you strange when you order shots of tequila at 3 pm, is okay by me. We stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon for some appetizers, however everything looked so good we ended up having linner. I split mac n' cheese with my brother's girlfriend. It was more than enough for both of us, so I recommend splitting it. My boyfriend had a burger and fries, although since we all stole his fries, he basically only had a burger. My brother had wings. Based on how fast he devoured them, it's safe to say he enjoyed them. To accompany my mac n' cheese, I had a mimosa. No matter how weird it sounds, it was a delicious combination. The mimosa was mixed perfectly. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. I'd definitely go back.

I was not particularly impressed. The dog decor and number of people with their dining with their hounds was mildly amusing. If you find "dog hair dining" to be amusing that is. Beer selection was average, mostly domestic pale ales. The food was ok but not worth the prices. I have had way better specials for 10 bucks a plate. Overall I can't really think of a reason to come here over anywhere else unless you just have to take you canine to eat with you.

I like that this place allows pets, and they make pretty good drinks and have a good selection of beer. The wine list is nothing special, but it is pretty well thought out. The food is also okay. On the other hand, it is really a terrible space, with no atmosphere whatsoever, and the late night crowd can be really obnoxious. Worst of all, my trek to the ladies room reminded me of the opening credits of "Get Smart."

    (3)
  • Angie Q.

I love any place that allows my dog in. The atmosphere is really casual and relaxed. Beer selection is large though they ran out of nearly everything on tap one night... Sundae is crap. But my dog finds the place real fascinating!

The best true neighborhood bar in existence. Where's star no. 6, Yelp? I've been going to Norm's for years; like since they opened. They have a first rate kitchen where they're willing to take some chances. They have lots of excellent comfort food, and that's perfect every time. They also have their "doggie bowl" specials of the day. Usually, these are the best things they make, if you sort of like what it is. The bar is fun. Trivia is an institution, and something everyone who goes to Fremont should do. Remember, it's $5 if you shout out an answer... This is a complete experience for a weeknight, neighborhood bar/grill. If you ever see Applebee's ads, Norm's is what they pretend to be on their ads. It's not the biggest of places, so it sometimes gets too busy for my tastes on Saturday night, but hey, that's Saturday night. Quintessential neighborhood grill; the one I judge all others by.

If you're in the mood for a really good chicken chili, this is the place to go! They have a trivia night on Wednesday nights. Thisis a dog-friendly establishment - most nights you'll see a couple of the critters. They like pets, oh yes they do.

I love this place! I come for drinks with friends, lunch and sometimes dinner. The staff is always friendly, the food good and the best part is I can bring my dog! I live on the other side of Queen Anne, but never mind the time it takes to get to Norms! Just wish they had another location closer to me.

    (5)
  • Mark M.

I'm giving this an extra star because it's one of the few places that actually encourages you to bring in your dog. The atmosphere is laid back biker. The food is interesting. I like the chicken chili, which includes as it's ingredients, beer and peanut butter. Hey, it works. And a smile and a kind word will go a very long way with the staff. I found it the perfect forgotten lunch spot when I want to meet up with a business buddy and don't want to worry about trying to be squeezed into a forgotten stall.

i have mostly only been here for our weekly happy hour night and love love love their humongous hummus and pita plate. cheesy pear thing is great also. definitely enough for dinner. plus a big ole widmer drop top for $3? best happy hour ever. the bartender even recognizes us and knows our "usual" so we don't even have to say anything if we don't want to. the dogs are usually a fun conversation starter. friday and saturday nights can be a bit hectic. and yes, parking can suck. but their happy hour is so awesome it makes up for any of that.

  • Shawn F.

People are harsh. This place is just a bar and it does a damn good job at being that. The food is better than average, and the pets and 40s in a paper bag give it a little unique atmosphere. It's my "neighborhood bar" for after work.

Second stop on our tour of Fremont. The place was packed with a variety of people. Even though the line at the bar was long the bartenders were attentive and fast. Good drinks, not stiff but not watered down either. Lots of actual gentlemen in the place that allowed us to place our drink order ahead of them-classy. I liked this place. People were actually here to have a good time and spend time with their group of people as well as meet new people. In too many of the bars and clubs downtown you find everyone either on their cellphones or texting which always amazes me because why go out at all -stay home and do that. I guess this is a HUGE pet peeve of mine but shouldn't you actually reach out and touch those in front of you instead of your loser friends who didn't come out with you? Their loss in my book. Send them picture messages after the bar closes of all the fun they missed out on.

I love Norms. I've never eatin' here but have had a few PBR 40s in brown paper bags here. Think I'm kidding? I'm not. Great place to go when the cover at the ballroom has you thinking that maybe "going dutch" with your date isn't such a bad idea after all.

norm's kicks ass. even my basset hound agrees- anyplace where you can have a 40 of PBR, great food and bring your four legged buddy is a great place. the servers are so nice ot the dogs, and i'm greatful to be able to bring the pup anywhere i'm going to have a few drinks, just to be able to avoid the dog-guilt. if you're a dog person, you have to go here.

I'm not a huge beer / ale / lager kind of guy, so this place wasn't impressive to me. The food isn't bad, but the drinks are much better. Come here to drink, but dine elsewhere before you do, is my suggestion.

I just went to Norms accidentally--I was supposed to go to the restaurant *next* to the cute ceramic dog out in front--and it was the best mistake I've made in awhile. My burger was delicious--huge & well seasoned, the fries were above average, and the soup/salad combo was as good as you will find anywhere else in Fremont. The atmosphere is laid back--people go there to gather and drink, not to people watch so if you want to show off your new faux hawk go further down the street. I was there at midday so I missed the PBR trend, but now I have a good reason to go back!

Can't really say much about the night scene, but went here for brunch/world cup final watching on Sunday and had a great time. Decent brunch menu (savory egg stuff as well as sweet pancake/french toast stuff) all in the 8-10 range, and it was that great balance of where we had enough food that the price felt reasonable, but not too much that you leave the place feeling like a fried egg. Bloody Marys and Mimosas were 4 bucks each on Sunday till 2. Bar had a good vibe, lots of tvs everywhere. Cozy but not too cramped. Waiter/bar tender was busy but super accommodating-separate checks for all of (he offered!) and didn't get stressed when we squished about 20 folks into a booth in the back. I can definitely see how in the evening it could get cramped (the layout could either make it super fun and hopping, or just claustrophobic and hard to get a drink), but I'd definitely go back for an afternoon/early night drink to start off the night, and--let's face it--decide not to pay a cover at the Ballroom and just stay here the whole night.

I'm pretty sure that for a brief moment last night I was talking to Norm, when a very friendly gentleman walked up to our group and asked if we were on the list. When we informed him that we were in fact Yelpers waiting for an event next door, he said "oh! I advertise on yelp" and looked almost convinced when he suggested he throw an event there. Then someone called him Norm and he responded. Makes sense, right? After seeing this place on a Thursday night, I will gladly add it to my list of places in Fremont to frequent *during the week*.

If you should happen to go out in Fremont on a Saturday night, let me give you a few simple steps to follow to ensure a successful night. 1. Get to Norm's as close to 9:00 as you can. 2. Take your pick of empty tables. 3. Order a vodka tonic, because they make a good one. ~or~ if you're feeling classy, 3. Order a 40 of PBR in a paper bag. 4. Watch as dozens more people come in and gaze longingly at you in your comfy booth, while they have to stand amidst the throngs of people milling about. 5. Keep the drinks coming. The waitress will remember what you ordered and get it right every time. 6. Whatever you do, stay where you are. Don't try to go to any other bars. All you will find is disappointment. Rather, gird your loins and hang onto that table with your heels dug in.

Nice atmosphere, liked having dogs around. Slow, inattentive service. Good, moderately priced food. Okay beer. Norm's was fine. We were there on an off night (no hostess) at a busy time (around 8pm on a Friday) with a group of 6. The burgers were enjoyed by all who ordered them. Fish and Chips were okay too. I will probably give Norm's another try.

Dear Norm's... You've gotten me drunk on school nights, weekend days, nights and new year's eve. I think this is officially the best relationship I've ever had with a bar. Plus your food is fucking tasty. From the 3 cheese omelet, spinach salad and chicken sandwich... I do believe you're responsible for my ass remaining shall we say...ghetto fabulous. Can we go steady? I have a new favorite bar in Seattle, and they allow dogs inside. Norm's in Fremont is beyond adorable, and of course it doesn't hurt that the owner (who we met last time we were in and is SO nice) has two golden retrievers (as well as dog paraphernalia everywhere). I love drinking a beer at Norms, only to look over and see a bull dog dining at the table next to me. Even though my dog is back east while I'm at school, I am tempted to make the road trip out with her so that she can experience this for herself (back home, dogs are only allowed outside). Oh, and the food and service is pretty good too : ) The best was that there was a doggy birthday party taking place last time we were in - how cute!

I recently moved to the Fremont neighborhood and stumbled across this fantastic place while walking my pup. I'm a HUGE fan of any place that is dog friendly and Norm's is one of my new favorite hang-outs! We usually drop in on a weekday when it's less crowded for a drink and a big bowl o' taters.

  • Sarah G.

Came here New Years day, trying to feed a hangover from the previous night. And this place did not disappoint. I think, along with my friend and I, every other patron had the same idea. Everyone either came in their pajamas, looked incredibly disheveled, or ordered a beer, mimosa, or bloody mary with their breakfast. We came at around 930am, and were seated right away and ordered beers and mimosas (why noooottt?). I got the 2 egg breakfast and it was very tasty. My only problem with Norm's is that the service lacked, nothing wrong with it, but it took a while for us to get our food, while other patrons who had arrived later than us had no problem getting their drinks and food. Another good thing about Norm's is they allow dogs in the bar. Me being a huge dog lover, I had adorable puppies to gawk at while I ate my breakfast.

Well, because of my previous bad experience at attempting to get to a yelp event and not finding parking, I decided to get down to Fremont early. Katie S. had mentioned HH at Norm's, so it seemed to be a good place to start. My BFF and I had 2 cocktails each, and tried a fried brie and pear plate. The cheese was melty, garlicky, if not slightly oily. I would have expected double the amount of toast for the amount of hot oil and cheese you get, and we ended up ordering a second plate, we were hungry, and the cheese was tasty. BFF was psyched when she learned that you could bring your dog in here. I thought it was pretty good, although the cocktails were a little pricey, they were well mixed. We will be back, and we will be bringing Bosco.

My dog is a weirdo who insists on going EVERYWHERE with me & the hubby, or else he injures himself. This has severely curtailed my dining out experiences. Norm's has been a boon to me. Where else can I get my drink & pub food on with the doggie in tow? Thanks, Norm's... for giving me back some semblance of a life... albeit still dog-centric.

  • Mel M.

The cornbread-dusted calamari really are the sh*t. A delicious deal during happy hour - so good, so tasty. The chili, however, is not. Applying the "doggy bag" concept was not as effective here as with the sandwich special. Though intruiging to read, peanut butter, cocoa, beer and tomatoes do not a delicious chili make. All our entrees were top notch and the service friendly and prompt. Only complaint with the drinks is that there is a conspicuous lack of a dark draft. Please remedy! Cute dogs, but I have an acute canine inadequacy complex (read: no dog) and therefore felt a little left out!

Do you love dogs? Do you love beer? Go to Norm's. I especially love that you can purchase 40's, and buy a coozy for your 40. Oh and being greeted by a beautiful and sweet mastiff upon entrance. Win! Norm's is relaxed, and gets some overflow from the Ballroom but not too much. Very fun, great people watching and beer = awesomeness.

We are out in Fremont a lot... I wasn't a huge fan of Norm's at first because we'd always come here after midnight and it was always super packed. The last few times we've went out, we've come here earlier and it's not so bad. I like this place, the people who work here are friendly, and I always love the big dog by the door. You can't beat paying $6 for a 40 to get drunk.

When you're in the mood for a salad or a burger, and you're in Fremont, there's always Norm's. It's pretty much the 'Red Door' 'cept that they allow dogs. Nice and prompt service. Decently priced. The menu seemed just a little off for some reason.. there were a few odd items on that looked like they just didn't belong. They make a good big salad and the chowda and fries are delightful. Oh, and they have a decent selection of beers on tap. I guess when you're not in the mood for Thai from one of the 46 places in Fremont.. or one of the India buffets isn't workin' out for you, this place might do ya right.

I was able to drink a Pabst 40 and pretend I was Dennis Hopper from Blue Velvet. The food I had was decent and people can bring their dogs here. But the service was awful and I felt like a piece of shit when I asked for something. Ya, I know they are short staffed, but at least pretend to be happy. Zipzap Zubidy Bop!

If I was rating this place just on the food, it would definitely be 4+. When we came in, we were confused. Do we seat ourselves or wait to be seated? We waited at the front door for a while with the bartenders and servers walking by looking at us, but not acknowledging us until my friend finally went up to the bartender to ask if we should wait. He said yes, wait to be seated. When someone finally came over, we asked the server for a booth for 3 and she said that the only booth they had was reserved for parties of 5 or more and that we'd have to wait. She wasn't all that friendly about it but we waited patiently at the bar for about 45 minutes until a booth opened. As we waited, a party of 4 came in and sat in the "booth reserved for 5 or more" and proceeded to order from the server who turned us away. Although the gentleman who served us was friendly and had good recommendations for food, the poor service is sometimes what sticks with you and that's what happened here. First impressions..... It's a great place to grab a burger or some amazing mac and cheese. I ordered a turkey burger which was moist and flavorful. Not like most places that have dry flavorless turkey. The fries were really good too. My friends were both happy with their menu choices as well. The dog thing is novel and I'm sure if you're a dog owner it's great to have a place where you can take your dogs. It didn't bother me to have dogs wandering around with their owners but if you're not a fan of animals mixing with food, this is not the place for you.

This place is amazing! Atmosphere is great, love having the mutts around! Food is great too, veggie sliders, tots, and kettle chips and dip are all my favorites. Great happy hour prices with a decent selection of brews. You don't have to have a dog to love this place!

This is a very laid back place. Good bar service. $3 40-ouncers of Pabst on Wednesdays till 7:30 (at least last time I was there). Food is very hit and miss and a little above average price-wide for a place of this type. Happy Hour is a good deal on apps though.

You know, Norm's isn't bad. The food is pretty good, the beer is decent and is reasonable, they have a happy hour with cheap pints and half off appitizers. They have some issues frying things (can I have my calimari extra greasy with a side of oil? Thanks.) but that's not so uncommon. You know it went in with the last batch of chips and fries. When I think of Fremont, and Thai is out, Norm's is an acceptable option. Make sure to sit in the first booth and read what is framed there. Apparently some asspipe lushed out and stole some original art that someone made of the owners dogs. They now have a notice up suggesting that they return it and/or burn in hell. Understandable outrage posted as a not-so-passive-aggressive note!

How great is it to enjoy good food, beer and company? This place allows for all three and by good company, I'm talking about your best 4 legged friend! Norm's namesake, a Golden Retriever, also inspires it's decor to include local dog enthusist artists and photographers to include Jamie Pflughoeft's incredible Decopaw designs. So everywhere you look you see wonderful pooches on the walls and sharing the floor close to their owners. That alone gives this place 5 stars! Now, one would think that maybe this place is just your average pub however the food is incredible! Of course they have a wonderful selection of brew and a full bar to boot. I stopped by yesterday after working the Dog Day at Oktoberfest right down the road and was starving! Granted all food tastes wonderful on a growling tummy but since this was my second time here, I can honesty say they do things right! My first time here I had the Fish N Chips with Wasabe Tarter, Yum E! My husband had the burger and enjoyed it immensely. Yesterday I devoured an amazing Bacon, Cheddar and Avocado Burger and lets just say it was gone in 60 seconds! The burger was cooked perfectly and came with all the accutriments on the side to assemble it however I wanted! The others at our party had the BLAT which turned out to be a double decker version of the all time favorite and looked so good it was all I could do not to cause a distraction and take a bite! What, me? No, the dog did it! Another had the Mushroom Gorgonzola Burger that looked heavenly with melting yumminess on top! I need mention that the fries are to die for! Somewhat thin but perfectly crip on the outside and moist on the inside. Seasoned wonderfully with lots of black pepper and not too much salt.

I thought about finding a new brunch spot for the new year, but why mess with perfection?! Norm's makes my day every time. The dim lighting is easy on hungover eyes. The mimosas are big and the waitresses will keep 'em coming. The big bowl of chips is the perfect snack to pass the time as your friends and their pups roll in. And nothing beats a Polly's Scramble, mimosa, football, another mimosa, and a bar full of cute dogs. Thank you, Norm's!

Great food, great people, great trivia night. Unfortunately, the food can be a little bit pricey for just being a bar. But overall I've had some wonderful experiences. Also, you can bring your dog! Which is really the most important thing about Norm's :-)

Regular ol' pub food. Sweet and attentive service. Incredible atmosphere...the best! The 4-stars is all about the dogz. Right on.

I've always felt comfy in this newer Fremont business. The neighborhood may be getting more trendy, but this place will be the new oasis among the yuppie crowd I believe. The fish and chips are some of the best in town. Panko-crusted with wasabi tartar, need I say more? Good selection of beers and nice happy hour.

I really enjoyed the environment and love the fact you can bring your dog! However, the food was not as good as I had hoped. I ordered a burger medium well and it came back nearly raw! Luckily, the waitress was very understanding and sent it back. My mother who was with me had an equally bad meal. My mother wanted me to note that the restrooms at Norm's lacked bars to be able to pull oneself up from the toilet. Overall, a rather disappointing experience!

Must Love Dogs! And yes we do. Our black lab, Cooper, loves Norm's and most of all the homemade chips ( I have gotten to try one or two before the pooch begs them all off us). We often grab our friends and their dog and head out for trivia on Thursday nights or a Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere for dog lovers is fantastic! The food is tasty, reliable and affordable. Happy hour is a bargain on appetizers which include the fabulous turkey sliders. The caramelized onions and sauce make them sing. Another favorite are the wings - hot or mild - very satisfying. The décor is all about dogs. But you can still watch the game or sit at the classic style bar. Grab your doggie and head on down to Fremont for some time at Norm's.

I love bringing my dog Cow here when I head into this place for Trupanion work parties. They have a great atmosphere and lounge area, and the drinks aren't bad either! The food is wonderful, but I could do with it being a little bit cheaper for the portions you get. All in all, a GREAT place to grab a beer with a friend after a dog walk through Fremont.

This is one of my all time fave bars to go to! Not only are the prices good, but the people there aren't "strange" or "too cool for school." I always meet the most down to earth and fun people to hang out with!

A small, dark, stuffy joint in Fremont that allows DOGS to accompany their owners. I can see how this might work out for said dog owner. However, the rest of us don't really enjoy listening to your K-9 companions bark at each other whilst we attempt to enjoy our sub-par Reuben's and cold fries. My plan to eat, pay and run home to shower the wet-dog stink off myself was completely thwarted by the "no concept of time" waiter. Really? he is probably nice, but way more interested in hanging out with his friend at the bar than getting our order... or food... or drink refill... or check... or receipt. I'd give this place a 1 but I can see how dog lovers might enjoy this kind of atmosphere and I'm sure the food would have been more edible had it been served to us hot off the grill. If you are looking for a relaxed, pub-ish (micro brews and comfort food) establishment, go to Dad Watsons.

Good, reasonably priced pub-grub and great happy hour deals on both appetizers and drinks, as well as brunch weekend happy hour on morningish cocktails. Dog friendly, actually just dog-centric which adds to the fun atmosphere. A few TV's to catch a game, although the set-up isn't ideal if that is your main reason for heading out. Variable crowd, not exclusively the stereotypical Fremont types. Service has always been at least average, usually good. A solid, casual place to grab a drink and a bite, particularly if you feel like bringing your four legged friend.

My review is based solely on evening activity at Norm's. I've never eaten there but haven't heard bad things about their food. One sentence sums up my love of Norm's: 40 oz bottles of PBR in a brown paper bag. The end. What else could someone want in a bar?

I am writing this review because last time I went it was for HH and I left thinking... Why did I want to/choose to go to Norm's? I didn't like that. FYI- I am usually ignored when I roll into Norm's- there never seems to be anyone around to serve or take my drink order. When they do appear though they are always nice. The pro's and con's I came up with in my head why walking home to solve my issue- I like... That doggies are welcome That they sell 40's in a paper bag That they open up the windows when it is sunny out That is a neighborhood restaurant with a casual feel That they have local beer on tap + other choices That on a Friday or Saturday night ,when out with a group, we can usually find a table Things I don't like... The slow service- never getting silverware, napkins, water- etc. almost every time The menu! I will eat a burger anywhere and Norm's is just fine (greasy)- but they want to charge close to $10 for a basic burger I can get anywhere that I only ordered because I couldn't find anything else on the menu. I went for HH and couldn't find a HH item to order- I am not even picky!! I didn't want hummus or wings or what not so I was out of luck. Then I was out of luck with the grilled cheese because it came with sprouts and random veggies that didn't work in my head- plus it was served open faced... disappointing... Going for happy hour and having to order off the menu and still not finding anything was weird. Everything seemed to have a add in that was odd or turned me off. And... I EAT WEIRD FOODS ALL THE TIME* When I did my pro's and con's list and realized that I didn't like Norm's because of the food and service I confused myself- Why do I go there?? Oh... for the nightlife... not food...

The food was really good... My partner and I were surprised. It's also great we could bring our dog - we need more places like this. We went on a Friday night, which was loud and rowdy with straight boys and girls. Gays - be warned or informed, we found it really blah to listen to screaming girls and guys wandering from table to table trying to hit "on the ladies". Some nights if I wanted to drink enough I could see it being fun, but for a casual night out it was a tad intense. Luckily, the service and food covered all that up. We'll go back again, just not on a Friday night.

A place where you can bring your dog, that's pretty awesome. It's definitely laid back. It's about as wide as a double wide trailer. The front when you walk in has two tables on one side of the door, and a small freestanding L shaped bar with some stools to the right with the regular type of bar behind it. On the left you have the tables and booths (about 10 in all). There is a pretty cool area in the back 12X15 about with some couches and stuff to chill and watch TV. The downside about this place is that since you are bringing your dog, if you have one to bring, it can get a little tight with your friend if their a medium sized dog or bigger. I guess your experience depends on how well your dog behaves. Mine is 10 months old, so although it wasn't out of control, it is naturally curious and at times a handful. Plus, my friends dog was 6 months, so that only added to it. But all in all they were pretty good, and hey, it IS a place to bring your dog so that right there gets props. I enjoyed the burger as well.

Norm's has become a post-sailing-race stop for us. There's nothing that says you're on solid ground like a waggly doggy. You'd think that as a dog-owner, I'd be totally thrilled by this place. I mean... they serve 40oz malt liquor in a bag! And chips and sour cream, yum! I just had a BLAT that totally rocked. I SHOULD be thrilled by this place, I really should. This should be THE destination in Fremont when I'm hungry, right? Especially if, for some reason, I had my mr. fuzzy-butt along with me? (Yeah yeah, ok, so I always have my own fuzzy butt with me, but I'm talking about my dog here.) But it isn't. With all the happy waggling vibes, you'd think the human servers would be a little more friendly. They're not mean, and they're not bad, in fact they're usually pretty attentive. But... they're ... indifferent I guess. Or maybe I'm a loud obnoxious asshole and am totally a nightmare patron. I tip well though? I'm also really really REALLY aggravated that Norm's closes down before last call. I tried to get in here to grab a bite to eat after partying at Nectar. I've tried to get in here to soak up alcohol after bouncing from Brower's to the Red Door to Tost to the High Dive. But if you're not here before 1:30am, they won't let you in. What the fuck? This is stupid! Here's an eatery, with food I crave when I've got a buzz going, and just because they also serve alcohol, they won't serve food after last call? What if I want to order a coke and a sandwich? Yeah, there's a hot dog stand outside. What if I don't want a fricken hot dog? Absolutely nuts, and aggravates the shit out of me every time I'm in Fremont late at night. Thank god Beth's is just over the hill. I'm going to try Roxy's and if it's better, that will be the end of Norm's for me. Unless I'm outvoted by my fellow hungry sailors.

Mom and I went there after the Sunday Market. So nice that they let your dog come in too. There were a couple dogs in there, they had the game on, and the menu items look really great. We had the chicken and brie sandwich, and the pear and bacon salad. I'll definitely be eating there more often! Oh and the servers are very nice too.

They let dogs into this place!!! Isn't that crazy? and amazing? and awesome! I love that it's dog friendly. It's also a restaurant and bar. I had the cowboy hamburger and my friend had some sandwich with salad and chili. There chili uses peanut butter....and it tastes AMAZING! Highly suggest getting the chili. This is exactly what you would expect a restaurant/bar place to be. Booths, a bar, tall tables, this random back area with couches around a table, typical bar bathroom, and dog themed/pun chalkboard menu special. They also have a small outdoor seating section, which is perfect for the dogs who bark too much...like the dog I was dog sitting... They service is nice but only alright. I came with a friend but they only gave us one glass of water. They kept forgetting to bring another glass too. Otherwise, they were decent!

Came here on a Sunday morning for brunch with my cousins, group of 6. When we first got there, we got confused with the breakfast joint next door, which was bustling busy line out the door. But eventually we realized we were in the wrong place. hopped on next door, and the cousins had a booth in the back that comfortably sat 6. Definitely a dog friendly spot! The pups are adorable! Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. We ordered: - BLAT (BLT with avocado) tator tots in the side - country fried steak - mimosa $4 - beer Fun atmosphere, wasn't too loud, we could hear our conversations just fine. Waitress was nice enough to split our bill 3 ways!

Terrible - make that non existent service. Walked out. After sitting for ten minutes watching the staff stand-literally next to us-and ignore us. We waved in their faces and yelled goodbye as we walked out, to make sure the manager knew we were leaving. Don't think he realized we were actually upset or hadn't been served.

Descriptive phrase: quick, filling food in a dog-bar. So Norm's is a bar for dogs that allows their people to come and it's cute and I love dogs and that's great. But they also do serve worthwhile food and drinks. Our server Brad was friendly and attentive to our need to eat and run, getting us in and out quickly. Good selection of beers, though I was a bit miffed that our pints were $6 when the beer came from literally a few blocks away. Such is life. I ordered the Half Sandwich/Soup/Salad combo ($10), which came with a delicious spinach salad, half of a gooey grilled cheese, and a cup of filling chicken chili. For the price it's a large and tasty meal. I wouldn't go out of my way to swing back by Norm's, but for a quick bite and some cute dogs it's a worthwhile joint.

My friend and I decided to eat at this super dog-friendly eatery in Fremont on the Singles Awareness Day. Our date was a cute Cavalier King Charles with a bow (for the special occasion), which is why we had to find a dog-friendly restaurant. Norm's is super divey, but their food was surprisingly not-so-divey. We decided to share fish & chips (3 pieces) and shrimp & grits. Their chips are actually homemade potato chips, so we opted for regular fries (which turn out to be super skinny). The fish (cod) was panko-crusted and deep-fried. I thought the crust was a bit too brown, but the fish tasted fine. Their spicy shrimp and grits was unexpectedly awesome. It had lots of shrimp, poised on top of cheesy grits with slightly spicy sauce. I'd order it again if I ever go back there. The only bummer was the price; everything was a bit on a pricier side than I'd normally expect at a dive bar/restaurant like Norm's. If you have a dog and want to hang out with your dog and friends over food/beer, this would be a perfect place for you.

I've lived in Fremont for three whole days now and have eaten here twice! Good selection of beer and the food has been delicious thus far! Bacon jalapeno mac and cheese!! Turkey and beef sliders! And just in case it isn't totally obvious (which it definitely is) - this is just about the most dog friendly bar I've ever been to!

I stopped by here looking for a bit of good pub style food and must admit it was not bad! The beer was a good price too. There were 2 problems I had. One, the waitress, just didn't seem that interested in me. She was busy, I admit, but a little courtesy goes a long way. Second, the place was full of dogs. Everywhere you went, there was a dog splayed all over the floor and you could hardly move without tripping on one. A new experience for me I guess. Although my 2 stars is low, I would say to any dog owner who enjoys going out and not leaving Fido behind, you'll really enjoy this place. The food was good and the customers and their dogs seemed to be enjoying themselves. Personally, I just don't want a dog, any dog, sniffing around me when I am eating. But if you don't mind dogs, this place is actually not too bad.

We are new to seattle and wanted to find a dog friendly spot for brunch. We loved this place. We were shocked by how many dogs were inside, but all of them were very well-behaved. The food was ok. I ordered the salmon Benedict. It wasn't the best I've ever had. I would stay 3 stars on the food. But 5 on ambiance. Also, the staff and other patrons were very friendly.

What is better than a bar for dogs!?! There is no excuse to stay home when the whole family can go out for drinks! If only I lived closer... Definitely a fun, relaxed place to go out when you don't want to stand smashed in by a bunch of people all night. We enjoyed the PBR + Fireball shot special, and the dogs enjoyed something chef prepared in the dog dish. I wish there were more places like this.

I absolutely LOVE dogs so the big plus here is that I can bring my dog and meet other people's dogs. It's so fun to see all the different types of dogs and all the cute funny things they do. I could not stop smiling. The food while it looked good, it wasn't anything memorable except maybe the wasabi tartar sauce that cleared all my sinuses. I got the panko breaded fish and chips. The fish needed more seasoning. The tater tots had lots of seasoning on it and was very yummy. They have a special sauce for them too (ranch and bbq I think?) Those were pretty good, but that's coming from a girl who loves anything potato. Prices were reasonable, had a pretty good beer selection, AND a few cider selections. I'm not a beer drinker so any time I find a place that serves cider especially more than 1 option, I get really excited and they get kudos points for that. All my guy friends seem to give me crap for it, but once they take a sip they always whisper to me that I made the better choice. Told ya! ;)

I'm not sure who loves this place more - my pug or me? But any bar that allows dogs is instantly a place I'd like to frequent. While you sip on a local IPA and have one of their awesome burgers (that you can substitute for a turkey patty), your furry friend can have a beef or chicken bowl.

Went there on a Sunday. Both my wife and I are on low carb so we each had one of their specialty burgers on a plate, no bun, with a salad substitute for the fries. We ordered the burgers medium rare which they able to do. The burgers were EXCELLENT, about the best I've ever had in regards to how they were cooked and the quality of their meat. The salads were very good as well. It took a little while before the burgers arrived as they were quite busy then, but the servers were attentive and friendly. The place is also pet friendly for those who care about that. All in all, I'd make a point of coming back next time I'm visiting Seattle.

Tater Tots and Mac & Cheese... the inner carni in me was giddy last night at Norm's. And when I can end the night petting a sweet golden retriever seated beside me, well that just makes everything better. A great bar with a homely feel, and good ol' comfort food! At least, when you're a few drinks in.

The food was solid bar food, the decor was fun (dogs everywhere!) but really, the best part was that we could bring our dog inside to hang out with us while we had dinner and a couple drinks. It was a fun place, for sure.

Fun little dive bar with good breakfast! It's within walking distance of our place so it's nice to walk up on a Sunday morning for some breakfast before going to the Fremont market. Chill place for drinks as well (before the bar crowd hits about 11 pm on Friday/Saturday). Staff is nice and they allow dogs - pretty cool!

I am SO grateful & happy that this place exists! This is Seattle where dogs out number kids & just allowing dogs in the outside patio area in a place where it rains or is cold 3/4ths of the year doesn't cut it! Norm's is absolutely great & the food is enjoyable too. As a vegetarian, I had enough options which I appreciate. What I appreciated the most is having my fur baby (who is 95Lbs) with me right there at the table inside the restaurant and not in the car, this made the food that much more enjoyable because I wasn't anxious that my pup was alone in the car! My pup also enjoyed eating the spinach, carrots and a little bit of the pasta from my mac & cheese! Highly recommend to doggie parents! I wish there were more places like this one :-)

  • Serena S.

If I lived closer, I'd be a regular. It's rare for a restaurant to be as dog friendly as Norm's. There was a puggle sitting on its own bar stool, a beagle on his mom's lap, a giant poodle mix at the small table for two...dogs and their parents were everywhere. I'm of the camp that dogs are often better behaved than kids so why aren't they allowed more places? Norm's definitely seems to be in this camp too. Great service even on a Seahawks Sunday, good food, and great vibe. Despite it being game day, it wasn't ever too loud.

Great food! Great people! Love the dog friendly environment. I had the Crab Cake Benedict, it was absolutely amazing! Cooked perfectly and the seasoned potatoes we're the best I've ever had. Sorry, I didn't take a pic, ate it before I got the chance!

Love this place for happy hour! The happy hour goes from 4-7, which is great for my work schedule. Half price drinks and appetizers! Who wouldn't want that?! I always get the chicken wings, and they have some of the best bleu cheese dressing you can get around these parts. I love looking at all the dogs too (since I don't have a dog myself....yet.) I've had some of the other things on the menu, but just keep going back to the wings. This is my favorite happy hour spot in Seattle!

Oh my goodness. So we have been here twice and both times at the same waiter. Completely rude. The first time he completely ignored us until we waved him over, that's why am so we ordered a beer and a soda. The beer came up quick but the soda never arrived. We have to be 20 minutes later he was going to bring my soda in which case he did. But it shouldn't take 20 minutes to get a soda that you can get out of the tap. It's cool because you can bring your dog here but to be honest my experience with the service is that it's crap. You could not convince me that this restaurant is worth dealing with that for the food. There's plenty of other places in Fremont to eat at. I would rather spend my money someplace where I get ignored and treated badly by the waiter.

We came here for trivia on Thursday night. It was fine. I guess I hoping for a bit more of a fun atmosphere. There was a good announcer, but there was an entire category about Washington. Since I have lived here just under 2 years, that wasn't my favorite category, haha. The service was friendly, but as you may guess, kind of slow. The food was your typical not that good bar food - I had a grilled cheese, cup of soup and cesar salad. Finding nearby street parking was not the easiest either. Overall, met expectations, in a very average way.

I came here because it was a dog-friendly place, and most restaurants won't allow you to bring your dog inside. I ordered slider beef burgers and chicken hot wings. The sliders were tasty, the hot wings too salty for my taste, but overall, not bad. I'd come back again, just because I can bring my corgi with me and I don't like to leave him alone at home if I can help it. Everyone in the place loved my dog... always a plus :)

This review is hard. I have mixed feelings. I can take my dog there which is awesome!!! Be warned though, there are going to be like 10 dogs there so your pooch better be able to get along with everyone. The food and beer were ok. It's decent bar food and an interesting tap list. The service was terrible though. We had two empty beers for over 10 minutes. I will go back just because we can bring our pooch along but I'm really hoping the service is better.

So I usually avoid Pubs because as a pescatarian with a wheat allergy I can only eat fries at these places. However, I went with my lady friend and her corgi since its dog friendly. Wow, have to say my service was amazing! I'm kinda judgemental toward Seattle restaurants because its always horrible hospitality, no one ever smiles but amazing food. Well our waiter was super friendly and checked on the two items that I was looking at to make sure there was no wheat in them. The cook went as far as calling the distributors (which I did not ask him to do). So my meal was delicious, a greek falafel and hummus sandwich on gluten free bread. It was so tasty, highly recommend. Just make sure to ask to replace the pita with the gf bread. Again, I truly appreciate the server going above and beyond and being so NICE about it.

Apparently, if you order food in a group of 8 and they forget to get you your food. You get the bill before you get the food and they expect you to pay for that said food before you get it. Then when that issue is brought up, a waitress who doesn't have anything to do with the issue gives you attitude. Then the manager finally steps up and says Sorry. The waiter never even a knowledged the error. But when you walk away the manager still says, I'm trying to apologize and your walking away. So with their mistake they tried to cause a bigger issue. I have taken people here various times to show how cool is was. Never again will i patronage this place.

Came here with a large group for Thursday night trivia - their trivia is pretty superb... But then again I'll take anything that's not Geeks Who Drink Trivia. Teams of 6 or less and a $5 buy in with some pretty neat/creative prize. They weren't strict on the 6 people or less.. As I saw many tables with more than six. Another huge plus is that dogs are welcome. The food was pretty decent for bar food and the portions are huge. They had a large variety of options to eat or drink. Cheap drinks are also a plus.

Great Fun Concept. Bad Business Model. Three Strikes. While I love the idea of being able to take my dog with me to drink and dine, I can't really recommend this place. The service is awful. Let me say I have only come for brunch, so I don't know about other times, so this is a brunch review. The waiting list they have is ignored. Though it is always to my benefit because if I just stand in the tiny waiting area they seat me without looking at the list. Here is the unfortunate part: Once seated, 20 minutes to get a menu, 20 minutes to order a drink, 40 minutes for our food. Happy Hour runs until 2. We were where at 1:40 and we were charged full price for drinks but we didn't get a waitress to acknowledge us until 2:00. Once we ordered we were never checked on until our food was dumped in front of us, at which point we asked for the check. This place is grossly understaffed. 3 people working on a Sunday is ridiculous. I'll get take-out and go to a park going forward.

The food is ok. Service is ok. Atmosphere is ehhh... just ok. Beer selection is great! And A++ since this is the only place you can eat, hang and drink with your dogs! We will ALWAYS come back because of this. Not sure how they get away with this but THANK YOU! It's nice that the ENTIRE family can join us for dinner.

Great spot close to or in fremont area. Great thing about Norm's is u can bring your dog inside with u while u grab a drink, watch the game or grab a bite! All dogs that i have seen inside have all been pretty laid back and friendly pets! Their menu is cool, though my favorite item was the fish with their homemade tartar sauce (YUM), but the last time i went they had changed the portion size and cut of the fish?! Before it was a larger breaded fillet size, but it had been changed to these smaller fish stick sized pieces?? I want the old fish back, lol

The food is a-okay; I usually get the vegetarian sandwich with dill and sprouts. And they have a fine selection of beer. Frankly, they could serve dog food and I'd be happy :D! Because my dog would be happy. Norm's is one of the few ACTUAL dog-friendly places in Seattle. Some places touted as dog-friendly means that your dog can be chained outside of the business. Not Norm's. Talk about friendly folks; I'm sure it would be challenging to work in a place like Norm's (Have you seen them weave in and out of dog leashes carrying food and beer? They rock the mic.) My dog is what you would call the greeter. We have a usual barstool at the bar and a usual booth towards the front. Every dog that comes in she says hello in that special way only dogs do. Thankfully. The guys that work here have been cool about me plugging in my laptop to charge when we come in. They have a parking lot (handy in Fremont) and somehow, we always manage to get a space! My dog has lately been complaining that I never take her anywhere exciting any more...conversations like, "What happened to us? You used to take me on new adventures all the time? You never drop as much food on the floor at home as you do when we go to Norm's?" I forget that Norm's to my dog is like Disneyland to humans. We better get back before my dog breaks up with me.

Must love dogs! Norm's is an eatery that caters to dog lovers and there are plenty of them here, pooches in tow. As soon as you pass through the door, one is immediately hit with the dog theme; pictures, statues and the "Doggie Bowl Special", the special of the day, for humans. If you don't like dogs, why are you here? I wish more restaurants in the area allowed dogs inside, there is an obvious market for it. I happily drive to Norm's from DT Bellevue, even when the 520 is closed, just to dine with my pooch. Most of the pups are happy to sit on the floor, my five pounder is a lap sitting kind of girl, no one seems to mind. The servers weave in and out of the obstacle course comprised of dog leashes, puppy tails and friendly wrestling matches as they carry full plates of food. On my first visit the burrito called out to me, a whole bunch of yummyness wrapped in a tortilla with some avocado and delicious pico de gallo. Second time around I decided to try the chicken fried steak, it comes with eggs and a biscuit all topped with gravy. Pretty good stuff! Mimosas and Bloody Marys are up on the board and available before 2 PM. I'll have to find a designated driver next time so I can enjoy one! Service is attentive and the staff is pretty friendly, smiles all around.

The food was delicious! I had the bacon steak! One of the best dishes I've ever tasted! Dogs are allowed in there too! Moscow Mule cost 5$ (Sundays) and it was also very good! Very happy with the restaurant!

Wow in Los Angeles they will not let dogs inside and I think it's amazing that the dog people of Seattle are able to maintain this dog friendly restaurant. I hope it always remains slow. Outside has three patio tables where I sat with our friend and her dog. Food we had was the coconut shrimp, fried green beans, and their mixed green salad with blue cheese, fried glazed chick peas and for $4 we added chicken to one and blackened salmon to the other. Everything was fresh and tasty. The green beans fried exterior was a bit soft but not something to cry about folks. Great for groups, lunch, well trained children, full bar, patio seating, street parking, good service.

Biggest plus for this place is that it is dog friendly, and I can enjoy my meal with my wife and two dogs. Staff are very nice to the dogs and offer treats. Service is good, though they can be a little slow on off nights. Food is typical bar food. Good burgers, decent appetizers, including a big bowl of tater tots which are pretty awesome. Beer selection is good and they even have beef or chicken patty dinners for the canines. If the food stepped up a little bit I would give this a solid five, but the food was just decent. Definitely deserves the 4 stars for allowing me to dine with my dogs.

We live around the corner from Norm's and come here often. They are hit or miss. Drinks are always good, bartenders and customers friendly, and some of the food is better than expected. Today we stopped in for lunch and it was horrible. The grilled chicken sandwich tasted like everyone's mother's twice-cooked chicken. Make sure it's dried out, then cook it again. The fish and chips - which every pub should easily be able to master came out looking like three swollen fish sticks, but tasted even worse than imaginable. They were so incredibly overcooked as to obliterate any fish flavor, but oddly, there was a slight dish soap taste. The one bright spot: the tater tots. Thank God they haven't figured out a way to ruin these nuggets of fried deliciousness. We'll keep going back, because it's out corner pub, but we know now to stick to the two or three items they won't massively overcook.

Ugh, I hate to review this place because I haven't actually eaten here but they never gave me a chance! We tried coming twice with our newly adopted puppy, Phinney. The first time, the waitress told us their water pipe had just burst and couldn't serve us. The second time, we sat down (because it seemed to be a "seat yourself" type of place and no one came to actually seat us at the front), waited for almost 20 minutes and no one came to serve us. In that time span, I made eye contact with at least two different servers who refused to acknowledge us. They were busy, but a simple "I'll be right with you" would have kept our business. I'm not coming back and neither is Phinney. I like the concept and it would certainly be nice to have an indoor dining option that I could bring my dog, but seriously, how they treated us (or didn't treat us) was sucky.

Beer on tap? check. Pub fare for food? check. Cool vibe? check. Dogs allowed INSIDE the bar? CHECK! Although we've live in the PNW for almost 6 months and have ventured into Seattle many times, we really never experienced the Fremont neighborhood. Some friends were in town and decided what a perfect excuse to drive from Tacoma to Seattle AND bring our dog with us. Getting to Fremont can be a biatch especially with the heavy boat traffic that can intermittently close Fremont Bridge and make for some back up traffic, but once you're in, it definitely transports you into a Portlandia like place...I honestly thought we were in Portland! Although there's a small parking lot next to Norm's, on a weekend it fills up quick, luckily we did find street parking just a block down. Norm's is a bit dark, but definitely has a pub feel and everyone who worked there was pretty nice. The charm obviously is the allowance of your best animal friend who is allowed to hang and sit with ya right there while you enjoy a cold pint. Most dog friendly places are a misnomer because they only allow dogs in OUTSIDE tables and that sucks especially in this cold weather so props to Norm's for being a pet friendly business. I'd never would have known about this place unless I get those occasional yelp updates of places that are recommended by yelpers so props to yelp! once again...you guys definitely make life an adventure and glad to have found Norm's here. As far as food, I was expecting super greasy ...but even the fish and chips were hot and crispy and I didn't feel the gross grease feeling you get afterwards....it's beer and fish and chips AND you're dog to keep you company...what more can ya ask for! =)

What an an awesome find! We wandered into Norm's one Friday evening on a whim, and had a blast. As a bonus, it was happy hour until 7 pm, so all tap beers were $3!!! Seriously!?!?! To top that off, the apps are all $5 - and that includes everything from calamari to slider plates. We had the coconut shrimp, which was crispy and had a sweet Asian dipping sauce. There were nice ribbons of marinated cucumber and cantaloupe on the side, which I though was a fancy touch for such a dive-y place. Dogs are allowed (if they're behaved), and it's open air to the street, so it's a great place for a sunny summer's day!

I love any bar or restaurant where I can bring my dog, and apparently a lot of other people do too...it was packed and every table had a dog or two. We ordered 2 burgers, and despite being overcooked (I ordered medium rare, but received well-done) they were well-seasoned and so flavorful that I didn't really mind. It looks like they have great daily specials and a good menu. I'll be back!

Any place that allows you to bring man's best friend along even said man fits for man's favorite beverage scores high in my book. This is a good local place. Drinks are fine, beer is cold. It is exactly what you expect of s place like this.

We decided to check out Norm's last Saturday when we were looking on Yelp for a good place to go that would allow our beagle, Nala, to join us. It was about a 30 minute drive to get to Norm's, so we were hoping it would be worth it. Our server was very friendly and all the other dogs we saw were well behaved. Our food did take a little while to come out, however we were sat near the kitchen and the cook was putting out food nonstop, which told me we showed up right after everyone else. We ordered the Raspberry Humper and the gentlemen lemonade to drink, which were both very tasty. For dinner we ordered the bacon burger with avocado and tots, the cob salad with steak, and the B.L.A.T sandwich with a side salad. We were all happy with our orders and look forward to returning to Norm's in the future when we are out with Nala. The worst part of the whole trip was parking! It took about 45 minutes to find parking due to the outdoor movie and other events that were going on in Fremont that night. Overall, we had a great time.

If I had a dog and lived nearby I'd probably flip for Norm's. But neither of those things are true, so I have to judge them on their beer, food, atmosphere and service. I love their beer selection and their rotating taps--they've got a lot of great local micros and seasonals to choose from. They've even got a variety of swill for those on a budget or lacking taste. The service was fast and friendly and the ambiance at lunch was pretty chill. A number of patrons had pooches with them and they were all mellow--I can see why many people like this place. However, I feel like there are better food options nearby. I ordered the half sandwich soup and salad combo. Everything was acceptable, but flawed. The chicken chili lacked flavor--though after adding some chipotle tabasco it was better. The alehouse salad was tasty--except the salad dressing was overly acidic (my lips were burning by the time I was through). The grilled cheese was probably the best part, though it lacked a certain je ne sais quoi. My lunch compatriots all agreed that the food was ok, but not their favorite. I'll be back for the beer, and maybe some appetizers or a burger, but unless you've got a dog or live nearby I can't really recommend going out of your way for Norm's.

I had read about Norm's on Bringfido.com and had wanted to try it out. My friend and I went for a day hike and then popped in for some beer and food. Super dog friendly neighborhood overall - but the restaurant was great. Lots of dogs, friendly people, even a dog friendly menu. We had burgers and they were really delicious. I had the pear gorgonzola and my friend had the bacon avocado and both were very tasty, nice size, lots of shoestring fries. Great beer and cocktail selection. We will most definitely be back - especially since I can take my dogs with me - that's the bonus.

I can't believe how long it took me to visit here! My doggie got to sit with me and my boyfriend inside the restaurant while we enjoyed our dinner. There was only one server on that night but she was so attentive in a restaurant that was 80%full and she never once stepped on the fur balls on the ground! On top of the food, I was definitely impressed with the service!

MUST LOVE DOGS! I took my puppy here and am glad I came with a dog-lover friend and not a germaphobe. The food and drinks were good but I was expecting there to be wet wipes and was glad I brought my own. There are a lot of dogs here and so, naturally, if you look into the sunlight you'll see that there is hair shedding everywhere. The dogs aren't allowed to sit on the chairs, which was a little disappointing because my friends dog was a little too large for the lap and had to sit on the floor while we ate. Every once in a while a dog would start a barking train but they calm down quickly. My puppy seemed to really love it so I'll definitely come back to give him a treat.

I originally rated this place 4 stars but going here again has changed my mind. When my friend and I first walked in, no one even tried to help us. No service and no menus. I walked up to the lady behind the bar and she ignored me for a while and then told me to wait. All we wanted were some menus! They took forever to get us menus and took forever to take our order. Oh and you probably guessed that they took forever just to get us our food and our bill. I'd understand more if this place was busy, but it wasn't. It wasn't busy at all and there were so many people working just standing around and being unaware. My dog would yip every now and then. One of the waitresses went up to me saying that I needed to keep my dog quiet. Really? He wasn't even loud. What kind of dog friendly place is this?

    (1)
  • craigslist m.

Hey Jonathan S. Did it ever occur to you that even if your cat is well behaved that dogs and cats don't always get along, and that the owners were trying to keep peace and avoid liability? It's a bar for people and their dogs, not their ferrets or their cats for crissakes! As an animal lover, you might reconsider your rating or open a friggin cat bar & invite a dog.

The beer selection is great, the food is solid and you can bring your dogs - what's not to love?! The ambiance is nice and we always love coming here on weekends after taking the dogs for a nice long walk. The pear and gorgonzola burger is great and we always end up ordering it. The other standby is the very delicious turkey reuben (Rachel?) and their fries are always delicious and well seasoned. It's pretty standard pub food, but you at least know what you're getting. Pop in with your pooch next time you're in Fremont!

Love this place. The dogs make it a fun and relaxed environment. The food is delicious. I really enjoy their breakfast hashed browns and their evening tots with the ranch-a-q sauce. Great happy hour with delicious sliders.

Don't know if the staff went through a recent change again, but last night I felt absolutely uncomfortable after being told my two dogs had to stay on the floor. I have never once been reprimanded for my dogs sitting with me on my lap or by my side. The server barely acknowledged me after that, even when I said I was ready to order a drink. Since no order was placed, I quickly left when my friend arrived and went next door to the Ballroom where they greeted my pups enthusiastically and gave me a water bowl for them. I thought Norms was supposed to be THE Dog bar...

  • Mallory M.

The best happy hour in Seattle yummy food Norms is really great, I love all of their food options but it seems like the menu recipes have changed? Maybe a new chef in town? Either way it's still good - just not as good. I love the staff and friendly atmosphere!

Dog friendly restaurant. We just came in for a drink after the Mobile food rodeo so I can't comment on the food. Service was good and drinks reasonably priced.

  • Nick S.

Maybe bringing the dog is what makes it great. I read the reviews and basically it seems Norm's is hit-and-miss. I'll have to go back for the "hit". The beer list is nice, rotating, on tap and a few good selections. As for the chow, the burger and the meatloaf didn't floor me. It seemed basic, flat, no taste, less than Seattle worthy type of burger, seemed like it was recooked. Now the chicken chili (with peanut butter) was good and that IS cooked all day. Sad but true.

My husband and I love this place. The dogs are always fun to be around, but mostly I love the food and how well they handle dietary restrictions when I request them. We try to get in every week or two if we can.

I wanted to go to this bar because I wanted to take my dog their and I was somewhat close to Safeco Field to watch the Mariners for Bark at the Park night. I was told by a friend that this place was overrated and she referred me to another restaurant that let dogs in. I still wanted to check this place out for happy hour. I wanted to get a happy hour appetizer. So, I got chicken wings and at the same time ordered a beer and a hamburger. And also, some food for my dog. My waiter was not a bad guy, but, he completely ignored my dog, which I thought was odd, considering that this bar was named after a dog and I was in a bar that was dog friendly. Keep in mind when we walked in it was slow and my dog was the only dog there at the time. Some other servers walked by and ignored him also. So, it wasn't a good experience because of this. It was just ok.

  • Scott M.

We had very high hopes going into Norms and had been looking forward to going here for a long time. It is dog friendly, lots of TVs, seemed friendly and festive. The menu looks yummy. My wife and I both ordered the Jalapeno Mac and Cheese. It was awful, the sauce tasted like old rotten garlic and that is all I tasted. It was also served cold. Then there was the service. Since we got there at 15 minutes before the end of the Happy Hour It would have been nice if she had explained the HH options to us. She of course did not. They were very nice and smiley when they came by our table about once every 25 minutes. I mentioned that the mac and cheese was not good and cold, she apologized and brought our bill with the mac and cheese still on it. All in all a good place to bring your dog to watch a game and drink beer. I can only speak to the mac and cheese and not the rest of the menu. However, how hard is it to make a decent mac and cheese? If you do not have a pet with you go somewhere else.

  • Abigail S.

Norms! I am going to miss this place. You will never be disappointed when dining there for even if all else fails, there will always be a cute dog to stare at. I was impressed with their happy hour offering half off of all appetizers. Sliders were my favorite and filled me up. The cajun tots are also phenomenal, but alas, not offered on the app menu. Some of the prices (tots included) are a little steep, but what they lack in value they make up for in dogs. They have at least 20 beers on tap and lots of room at the bar. I found service was comparatively faster when sitting on the bar stool than dining in the dining room. Great place to stop in whether you're a visitor or a neighbor!

We have been back to Norms countless times! We LOVE it! Our dog loves it! We try to make the drive to Norms (from Olympia) about once a month or so...we made it there on a Sunday in time for their daily special. It was amazing! That day, it was basically the kitchen sink with an egg and it was fantastic! My absolute favorite thing to get, is their Chicken and Brie sandwich...delicious!!!! We have taken friends (and their pets) and younger children with us, and they all love it too! Pretty exciting for kids to see dogs INSIDE a restaurant. The staff is still amazing and very friendly! We are loyal customers and will continue to be.

Norm's is awesome. Not only do I absolutely love that I can actually bring my dog inside instead of being limited to the patio, the food is amazing. Much better than your average bar food. The farm burger is one of my top 10 burgers of all time. While I would not be mad if they added a cider to their tap list (not a beer drinker), their cocktail options are multiple and very delicious. Staff is great too.

The food was tasty, portions were plentiful, and we had no issues with service or timeliness. Overall a good experience, and kudos to it being dog friendly! The only downside is their beer selection was a little uninspiring.

I love Norm's! I discovered this place thanks to a friend of mine who owns a dog. She invited me out to this place so she could bring Evie along. I instantly fell in love. Norm's hosts a row of plush booths you could just sink in to on one side of the room. Then there is a long bar which is always tended by a quick and friendly bartender. The back of the room has another huge booth and a number of tables. It creates this cozy pub atmosphere. The menu is your typical pub fare with burgers, sandwiches, and fish & chips. The happy hour is amazing. I love that you can get 5$ appetizers. They have sliders on this HH menu and you can seriously fill up on sliders and tots. Did I mention they have Veggie sausage sliders?! The weekends have 4$ mimosa and a kickin' breakfast menu. The only thing they need, and do not have, are sweet potato fries. Overall, Norm's cannot be beat. The good food, nice staff, and cozy atmosphere make it a great neighborhood joint. Plus they allow well behaved dogs as long as they stay off the furniture. Howe could you beat that level of awesome?!

Norm's is a place I frequent now, mainly for breakfast/brunch and mostly on a Sunday. They always have multiple games (NFL) on and the staff is great to change a TV to the game you would like to see. There are always a wide variety of people with their dogs, very dog friendly. And the staff is great. Now to the food, my three favorites are the breakfast burrito, the hash and the B.E.L.T. breakfast sandwich. The breakfast burrito is filled with egg, chorizo, black beans, avocado and cheese and comes with pico, so good. The hash is the kitchen sinks of breakfast meats, a little bit of everything. The BELT is bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato on a chibata roll, add avocado and it makes it that much better. Nice way to start the day while not breaking the bank.

I work next door at Ballroom, so I dropped by for a quick meal between shifts. Staff was really friendly, food was great (had the veggie burger and Greek salad) and the atmosphere was chill. My food came out in about 10 minutes and a few different staff members checked in me throughout my meal. I've seen other reviews that mention it's really loud in Norm's, but I found that the noise level was minimal. Enough so that I was able to comfortably sit and read my kindle for an hour without any annoyance. Ps, they have wifi for guests, which is really nice. Overall it was a great experience and I'll definitely be back.

What is better than a bar where you can bring your dog? This place is amazing and trivia night is loads of fun. I refer all my dog-mom friends here and just think it's great! The only downside it that there aren't more places like this one.

Delicious food but that isn't what made us fall in love with Norm's. This is a restaurant for dogs and dog lovers. Everyone is so friendly (dogs and humans alike) and the staff make you feel right at home with your furry friend. Apart from the occasional bark, the dogs were all very well behaved. The place, while having a distinct low-light tavern feel, was clean and funky. We will be back....with our doggie!!!!!

    1. Best service ever. Every time. Hands down. I have never had bad service here. 2. Best Value Happy Hour ($3 drafts and $5 appetizers - I call them small meals) 3. Dogs -they are allowed. 4. The food is FILLING and tasty. Think pub style. 5. Local and community based. They support us we support them. I come to Norm's because of these reasons and because I do not own a dog. I can pet /play around with many different types/breeds of dogs. It is like a dog store which also sells liquor. Also dogs bring people together who normally wouldn't converse with each other. I also love Norms because it makes me realize why I do not want to own a dog.

Dogs, dogs, and more dogs! If you're a dog owner (or lover) and your dog is friendly and quiet (three bark rule and you're out I think) you should definitely bring them here. Their food is good and there is a nice selection of beers on tap. Love this place!

I cannot do a zero star review, so one star it is. Went in on a Sunday for a burger. The restaurant wasn't very busy. We placed our order and it took 45 minutes for our burgers to arrive. We were asked how we wanted them cooked. Given they are all pre-made frozen patties I'm not sure how the answer we gave would affect the outcome of the cooking. When the food did come out it was incorrect. We asked for a burger with avocado and no bacon and we got a burger with bacon and no avocado. In exchange for our troubles - extremely slow food not cooked to order and incorrect toppings - we were offered a comped cup of coffee. The complete lack of concern over the screw up was the worst part. We did something we have never done. We got up and left without taking a bite.

I came here for happy hour with some coworkers on a Friday afternoon. Beer selection was solid (though I'm not a connoisseur, so don't hold me to that). Service was hard to rate because our server was very pleasant and friendly during the few moments we actually interacted with him, but he was not very attentive to our table. It took us forever to get our checks even though there was plenty of staff on shift and it wasn't crazy busy. Oh well. Three stars for that. BUT... The shrimp salad ($5) during happy hour was delicious! It probably makes the Top 5 Best Happy Hour Foods I've Ever Eaten list. It was a good size portion for a happy hour plate, nice mixed greens, great dressing, with FIVE perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned succulent shrimp on it. I'm somewhat of a foodie, and I LOVE a good non-traditional happy hour (wings and quesadillas get a little Blah every now and then) so I was very satisfied. I don't remember what beer I drank but it was well-priced. Other cool stuff: - You can bring your dog (inside!) - You can watch sporting events on the TVs Cheers.

Can not believe I wasted my time on this place. Because it is a dog friendly place we thought what a great idea to go to Fremont on a beautiful day and try Norm's. Not sure if the servers are miserable working there or just have no personalities no smiling capabilities. The food did nothing for me as well. It was if the dogs were annoying them. Will never go back- the only positive was to see all the wonderful dog owners and there dogs. Think I will stay on the eastside.

Damn. I was such a Norm's fan, but I've had really bad service and food the last few times. I guess yesterday was sort of it for me. Having to flag down our waitress constantly for water or coffee, and she seemed totally annoyed. I ordered a standard eggs and potatoes breakfast, and it came out with Tater Tots on the side. And the "fruit side" was one slimy strawberry and two grapes. Finally got the waitress to ask about the bizarre tater tots - they were out of potatoes and thought I wouldn't notice. I asked if I could sub them for anything since I'm not a fan - and ended up getting charged for that without warning. Sorry. That was kind of a crappy Sunday breakfast.

Fun place to eat and drink. We had the bacon Jalapeño Mac and Cheese. Not too spicy and very creamy and perfectly cooked. Beer was $3 during happy hour. Plenty of TVs to watch your favorite sporting event and friendly wait staff. They allow dogs here. Two were "dining" when we came in and they were very well behaved. My dog would love this place.

Highly recommended!!! Even as more dog friendly places become available (and we've tried a few), Casey, my goldendoodle, and I will always and forever return to Norm's. The servers are friendly and caring...always remember our names...and watching them dodge dog tails in the aisles on a crowded weekend day with grace and style is like watching a ballet. Though it can be crowded and loud on game days (as expected), afternoons and early weekday evenings are not. Casey & I stop to eat at Norm's on our way home from work a couple of times a week, either for the happy hour sliders (great variety and value) or for the daily "Doggie Bowl" specials which often rival that of the finest chefs Seattle has to offer. A generous half Greek or spinach salad ($5.99) with a side of blackened salmon or grilled chicken breast ($4.00) also makes a filling evening meal. Norm's also opens its doors for animal rescue/support organization charity benefits from time to time. Casey and I both love this place. It has earned our loyalty over the past 3+ years.

Service was extremely slow... We sat for at least 15 mins before someone even greeted us. Extremely loud! So loud that I couldn't even hear the person across the table talking to me. When our food finally came, mine was cold and the eggs were not fully cooked. If my friend hadn't wanted to go so badly, I would not have stayed. Definitely would NOT recommend.

After a long day of doggie socialization, my husband and I were in need of some human food. A drive-thru wasn't very appealing, but fortunately we remembered our SideCar driver telling us about Norm's. A few minutes later, my husband and I arrived at Norm's with our four-legged daughter in tow. It was late evening on a Sunday night not very busy. We sat at the bar, where I had a turkey sandwich with a side salad - the Ale House salad. The sandwich was very good and exactly what I wanted, but the salad stole the show. Not very often am I satisfied with a restaurant salad, but this was freaking awesome. The candied nuts have been on my mind since. We will be back!

Love that you can bring your dog! I brought my Dachshund with me who took a nap under the table while my husband and I enjoyed some delicious sandwiches for lunch. In the words of Arnold, "I'll be back."

I love bringing my dog to norm's. This is the first place he has EVER declined meat haha. I love the way this place is set up, it is really adorable. Most of the dogs here are well behaved. It's always fun to bring my pup Beckham here. I always get my dog an order of their steak/beef. It is so cute and comes in a little bowl. My pup loves eating with his parents at the table here! The reason why I would vote this as a 4/5 is because the food is mediocre at best. Ambiance/environment, excellent. Food, not so much. Service is adequate.

Norm's is a cool place. They are dog friendly so you can bring your dog in with you. It's a cool idea and all but I would NEVER bring my spaz dog with me to a pub. Came in for lunch during the week. I ordered a sandwich and it was decent. The fries had a weird taste to them. Not sure if they had a seasoning on them or what but I ate them anyway. The decor and lay out is nice. It's got a little bit of a sports bar feel to it and you can find flat screen TVs throughout the place. I've never been in for brunch or dinner but I can say that Norm's is a decent spot for lunch and dog watching.

A dog friendly bar.. SO AWESOME!! I'm such a dog lover and i frequently dog sit a clients pooch so we jumped at the opportunity to go to Norm's once we had the dog again and loved it!! The decor is adorable, no big surprise it's dog themed but in a fun non cheesy way, I was impressed. they have a great lounge area in the back with leather couches and a big screen TV. Best part: you can order 40's in a paper bag, keepin it classy!! The food is typical bar food but really tasty. I was a little disappointed they didn't have anything for the dogs on the menu, kinda surprised actually, but oh -well, you're allowed to bring your dog inside so that's the best part, just made sure your pup is social, friendly and not a whiner:)

While the location, the menu, and the crowd that Norm's attracts is great, the customer service is pathetic. The quality of the the food is marginal at best. Because of the good dog-loving customers that it attractants, I'll still go there for a happy-hour beer with my dog..

Quick friendly service. You can have your dogs on the sidewalk cafe or inside as well. Sooooo dog friendly. We walked in once with our friend and he said, "whoa that's a lot of dogs!" Their are pics of dogs on the wall and even the menu.

For the most part, I really enjoy going to Norm's! I love that they allow dogs inside, I'm never there without my dog, and the food is pretty good too! The only thing holding me back from giving Norm's a full 5 stars is some of the wait staff there. Half of the waiters/waitresses are extremely nice, and I'm so thankful when I'm there at the same time they are. But the other half have just rubbed me the wrong way, very rude and unpleasant. I know that being a waitress can be stressful, especially when you're busy. So the first time I didn't think too much of it, but every time I had that same waitress she was just as rude as the very first time, even when I was trying to be extra polite.

How are more places that willallow your dogs to dine with you. There is puppy hour at bellow pub but only has it on The last Wednesday every month. The waitress was really nice. Even though you aren't supposed to have dogs on the booth I had my dog on my lap because she so small and they didn't mind at all. The food was okay. Fries are really good and my friend said they make their own ranch which was good as well. I do want to try to mimosa and Bloody Mary when I go back. The burger was really juicy as well.

Happy hour! $5 for 4 sliders (including fake meat for me!) is a sweet deal. The $5 bowl of house-made chips is definitely enough to share with a lot of people. I don't think I'd bother going for a non-HH meal, though. Friendly dogs to pet, lots of beer to drink, and room in the back for a big group of people-- what's not to like?

    (4)
  • Kelli L.

This is a solid four star place. They allow dogs which really is the focus here. Decent food and drinks, but I probably wouldn't come here so often if it weren't for the dog situation. That being said service is friendly and lots of interaction with other patrons with dogs!

How grrrreat is this place?! Super great. I was with a hungry group looking for grub and just happened upon this eatery. Who was first to great us? A 1 year old Newfoundland accompanying his owner at the bar (I think Murphy was definitely helping out with the ladies) that's when we realized there was a dog at almost every table! Hey! We're not slow, it's just not a common sight! It was a busy Saturday night, so we had to wait just a bit, after being seated the service was a bit rushed but they were clearly busy! We had some drinks, a mushroom burger and penne chicken vodka pasta we are few of the items orders. We all enjoyed the food and company very much! So fun! I wish they had a bigger place!

Pretty good place for an early meal. The breakfast burrito was filling and the fried potatoes were especially good. Norm's was lacking in the omelette department but I figure they focus more on lunch and dinner than breakfast food. A typical pub, nothing really stands out to make Norm's unique.

Norm's is probably the most legit dog-friendly bar that I've ever been to: 1. Cute girls are in here all the time with their dogs. 2. The bar offers 40oz. PBR's, served in a brown bag? Awesome 3. VERY good food The only downside is that the space is pretty small and will get packed (balls to the walls, dude). My suggestion is that you get here earlier on weekend nights. Cheers

Been a few times and both were fun. Great happy hour for good and drinks. The BBQ burger, sliders, and wings all very tasty. Very laid back type place and you can even bring our dog inside. Definitely will go back again.

This place gets 5 stars soley based on the fact that it's riddled with dog pictures, paintings, and other little trinkets. And then another 5 stars because all fury children are allowed to hang out and enjoy the good music, the open windows, and patio area. Another 5 stars for the good beer and food. I'm a sucker for mac 'n cheese and there's might be the best I've ever had.

Norm's has been on my list of places to try out for years now. But, usually when I am in Fremont, I don't have my dog, Penny. And why go to Norm's if you don't have a dog? I have cat responsibilities in Wallingford this week, my husband had an errand to do north, and the weather was mild, and so the stars aligned for a visit to Norm's. After I spent time with my friend's cats, while Penny was outside in the car sleeping, my husband picked us up and we headed to Fremont. It was no problem finding parking. Once we got out of the car, Penny received several compliments from young folks on the street. And, then we got to Norm's! Rick chose a corner table far away from the yappers further in. Penny stood a while confused, and I told her to sit down, and then lay down, which she did. She lay down while the waiter (who was the only one taking orders on the floor) took first our drink order (Manny's for R, chard for me). When in Rome, do what the Romans do, and I do recommend you get the beer. I didn't check to see if they had bottled gluten free options or cider, which is my usual go-to drink when I am at a beer joint. The waiter returned to get the drink order again (She forgot but said so in such a pleasant way that the extra wait was no big deal.) and our food. Rick ordered the turkey reuben, which he said he would order again. I ordered the hamburger, which I had been craving. Hamburger itself was good, but because I am gluten free because gluten upsets my stomach and increases my skin sensitivities, I can't do it very often. Fries were only so-so, so next time I have a hamburger, I'll try the tater tots. There's also salad options for when we are both staying on our dietary regiment. But, with the smell of cooking wafting in the air, it's hard. Penny loved her hamburger, which was served cut up in a bowl. She sat still, nose level to the table, as we waited for the meat to cool enough for her not to burn her tongue. Once she got it, she licked the bowl clean. Yum. Since we were in the corner, lots of customers and their dogs had to pass by to get to the interior booths. All dogs were good. All customers were friendly. We were happy. My dog was happy. Our tummies were happy. We'll come back.

We go there for the wings! And that's coming from a gal from Buffalo. Wings are awesome but the dipping sauce is sub-par...kind of a mix between ranch and blue cheese, just not for me. Brought the dog, she loved it too. Woof!

If you have a dog and don't know about Norm's you are really missing out. How often do you want to take your furry friend along with you or are out for a walk and get hungry or are just out and about and want to find a restaurant but they have to have a spot to tie up your buddy where you can sit next to them? Fear no more. This place lets you bring your dog into the place. Read it again. You can bring them inside! Definitely read their rules that are on the menu as it ensures we all get to keep bringing our dogs in. Every table has a wet little nose poking out from underneath it so if the occasional bark annoys you, then maybe you shouldnt have walked in in the first place. Good beer selection and a pretty large menu. The food is great, not unbelievable but pretty solid for bar food. The servers are pretty good, and understand the fact everyone is going to have a dog and seem to be good with it all. The ability to bring your dog and enjoy a beer is more than enough to keep us coming back.

Great spot! Food is pretty good, beer is great and it's the only place in town you can take your well-behaved dog. We just wish that we lived closer so we could come here more often.

I've been to Norm's twice and I have not been impressed with the food either time. During my first experience, I had the Chicken & Brie sandwich with chips and was surprised by how small it was! I was still hungry when I was finished, but didn't order anything else because I didn't want to be disappointed again and the food can get kind of pricey. The second time I ate here, I ordered the chicken wings (mild) and bacon, cheese and avocado burger. The wings came out tasting like BBQ - and unfortunately I'm not a fan and the burger was just bland. Definitely not worth the $9 for the wings and $12 for the burger. The ambience is cool and I like that they allow patrons to bring their well-behaved dogs, but that's the only good thing I can review about Norm's. I most likely will not be back. Sorry, Norm's.

This place is great pub food. Clean and decent service. Don't go expecting all fancy gastro pub this is the real American pub food. Portions were plenty and the quality was great. All the dogs were well behaved. We just stumbled in for a lunch one day and will most certainly be back. It cracks me up on this site how people go into a pub and expect gourmet food. What the heck! This place is great and I'm sure if you had any problems with the way something is prepared this joint would step up and take care of you.

This dog bar is a one trick pony. Great place if I had a dog, but for a non dog owning human its just ok.

  • Samantha E.

Norm's is... okay. It feels like the undergrad bar in every college town in America where you can't hear your friends talk from across the table, sorority girls think tights are pants, PBR is the beer of choice, more shots are sold than mixed drinks, the same hip hop song plays over and over again, and everyone freaks out when Soulja Boy comes on. To be fair, maybe it has a different vibe during the day when people eat food and the dogs are invited? At night, though, it's definitely not my Fremont pick.

Being of a few friends who've recently got puppies and who's social lives have taken a backseat because of it, we decided to all get together and bring our dogs to Norms where we could all catch up... WITH OUR PUPS. What a great place this is to bring your dogs and chat with friends. We had a total blast. It was absolutely awesome having our puppy alongside of us while we sat inside the restaurant and had beers, delicious garden burgers and tasty fries! Norms serves up great pub food with a wonderful environment filled with an assortment of canines. It's the perfect place to bring your pooch! This will definitely be a meeting spot for us along with friends alike. I only wish this city had more of these spots! Genius. Totally genius.

Let me preface this review by saying that I have never been to this place sans dog - nor would I ever. So this review is for day-drinking only, dog (and now infant)-in-tow. I honestly can't believe I haven't review this place yet. Norm's has been a staple after our typical Magnuson/Marymoor dog walk excursions on the weekends. It's fantastic - stroll around the parks for an hour or two, get the dog running - then head to Norm's for burgers and beers. The food is great, the staff always friendly and the patrons are some of the nicer folks we've met in Seattle (don't get me started). Did I mention our dog weighs 80lbs? Any bar that allows large dogs, has multiple TV's and serves beer/food is a happy place for this family. A must if you have a well behaved pooch and like food and beer. Now go.

In town with my in-laws who have a Cavalier who is part of the family. My brither-in-law also has a 3 month old malamut who can't be left for too long. So he knew about this restaurant/bar that allows dogs. My father-in-law was skeptical, but we had to try it. Nikki (the cavalier) sat between her "parents" and Titan sprawled out on the floor. Norms probably wants me to say dogs are not allowed on the furniture. It was pretty adorable to share our dining experience with them and for many dog owners this perk in and of itself probably merrits a good 5 stars. But I am not a dog owner. I am an out of towner who doesn't eat meat or dairy so it's sometimes hard for me to find restaurants that work for me. Norms works. I had the Ale House Salad (hold the cheese) with added calamari. The calamari was corn breaded withn thei ryummy chipotle/cumnin spice mix. The salad had candied hazel nuts, which was a great touch. I also had a widmer amber ale which was yummy, though a little flat. Not sure if that's the style or if their co2 was running low. Either way a little flat tasted just fine. The music, though an enjoyable selection for this Gen-xer, was a little loud for easy conversation.

Even though we had come to the city without our dogs this trip, we HAD to check this place out! It was like the coolest dog show we could hope for. While we were there, about 15 dogs brought their owner's in for some Pup, uh, i mean.... PUB TIME. The Pastrami Sliders were the bomb; and any place with tots is cool with us!! Good beers on tap too. It was Sunday, so their ample Mimosas were 5 bucks; I believe the Bloody's were $3. Also, the "fill-in" bartender there, HANNAH, is AWESOME!!! :) The BEST, friendliest bartender around (cute too! )! Norm's would do well to get her in there more often. Great Dog Friendly place! We'll be back as often as we can!

If you like beer and/or bar food and like your dog even more, then Norm's will probably feel a little like heaven to you. We came in on a Saturday afternoon, expecting that our lil' pug would be just one of a few dogs in the place. Nay: it seems that there is a secret society of dog lovers and they all converge at Norm's. There was at least one dog at EVERY table and booth: big dogs, little dogs, calm dogs, fidgety dogs, tough-looking dogs, and dogs with bows on their ears dressed in sweaters. I loved having the option of going to a happy hour with my dog but I secretly thought it was probably torture for most of the dogs there since they not only have to be quiet and well-behaved while there's at least ten other dogs around, but they also have to resist eating your food, which is pretty yummy. During happy hour, all appetizers are $5 and if you were actually hungry, ordering two appetizers and downing a beer would probably fill you right up. We got the salmon sliders (the salmon patties were fantastic!) and the warm brie & pears, which was a yummy snack. The calamari also sounded good, but I decided to save it for next time since I was full--and there will definitely be a next time! The entrees also looked good and it seems like the menu is just full of pretty good, 3-4 star food. While munching away on my brie and pears, I began wondering how on earth Norm's was able to get around the health regulations that only allow service animals in fodo establishments. I asked our server (who, by the way, was friendly, attentive, and looked like a surfer dude) about this and he said that only the owner knew. Speculation suggests that perhaps the sale of the restaurant was contingent on it being a dog-friendly bar or that perhaps the fine associated with having dogs in there was worth the happiness of having dogs in there. Who knows. I don't care. As long as I get to keep bringing my dog here.

    (4)
  • Jay P.

Awesome. Allowing dogs in your establishment should get you 5-stars no matter what. You could serve crap on a plate and liquid sewage in a cup and I'd still rate this 5-stars. BUT the food isn't crap or sewage it is actually really good. The veggie sliders were impressive, as were all the other menu items we got. Beer list is great. Everything pretty fairly priced. Highly recommend for everyone. Especially dog lovers.

A bar that caters to puppies, now that is good fun. I have only encountered bars that have a seating area outside for dogs, but this place is clearly blazing the trail. They cater to the 2 legged creatures too with good beers on tap and a menu that didn't disappoint. We were with a big group and one pup, so we ordered a bunch of apps and I remember the calamari being good and the chips and dip were addictive. Everyone had a good time and the dogs were all well behaved too.

Great tap selection also full bar. They allow dogs and they are well behaved and it creates a fun lounge-y atmosphere. The food is decent, fresh, well made, seasoned and presented. The service is sometimes slow.. the servers don't look around so it's difficult to flag them.

The Happy Hour King of Fremont. Hands-down. Overwhelmingly, this is due to the fact that (1) happy hour goes until 7; and (2) dogs are part of the fun. As a working stiff, having a later HH is clutch, and Norm's has some of the best food on HH that I have seen in the Seattle area. Sliders and a hummus plate = more than enough for a dinner. One-star knocked off for the fact that only beer is on HH special. After learning that too much beer (sadly) disturbs my stomach, I wish I could swing a well-drink for cheap. But c'est la vie. It won't stop me from frequenting Norm's as my go-to. As a side note for people who complain about the dogs: Dude, it's a DOG bar. If you have something against friendly furry animals, go to the other thousands bars lining 34th in Fremont. Seriously--caveat emptor, dear sirs...

Service is superb. Food is decent. Beer is cold. I can bring my buddy Elvis!

    (5)
  • Sarah Elizabeth P.

The food and drinks are average -- I'd give them 3 stars. Norms gets an extra star for the fact that my dog can come in with me. This place is guaranteed to have at least one dog (usually several) hanging out with their people.

  • Ben C.

Great neighborhood bar/eatery. Dog friendly. Meatloaf sand which is killer. Great beer and enough TVs to watch the game but not be annoying. Priced right too. Great Sunday out with the dogs place to eat and have a beer. Hip place to start off the night drinking if you are in the young crowd.

  • Robyn M.

I LOVE Norms! My dogs LOVE Norms! They have a great selection of beers and Ciders which I really appreciate. The service is wonderful and the food is tasty! I am a vegetarian and I really appreciate the options for me on their menu. I love bringing friends and out of town guests to Norms!

  • Tony R.

Sorry, but I'm not a fan of dogs being around when I'm eating and while walking in, I had already chalked this place up as a onetime visit kind of place. The BBQ Burger (I ordered Medium-Rare) and the biggest chicken wings I've ever seen (only $5 at happy hour) changed that evaluation and insured many future happy hour visits. Service was friendly, the price was right, and the ambiance of a place filled with dogs actually grew on me (even though I'm a cat person).

    (4)
  • William T.

What an awesome place. Not only are they dog friendly, but they are dog inviting. If you don't like dogs, why are you at this bar? There are like 7 others on the block! Great tap selection, as is to be expected in Seattle, cool staff as well. Especially the door staff who are all about giving some treats out to dogs coming in and just passing by.

    (4)
  • Emily S.

Pros - ** Dogs are allowed! Most of the dogs here are friendly and calm enough to sit by their owner's feet as people and other dogs pass. The menu does outline this as one of the "rules" of bringing your dog, and it's great that they do have some semblance of order despite the addition of dozens of pets. ** They serve 40s of PBR (bleck) WITH paper bag included (hilarious). Cons - I can't think of any other pros worth mentioning. Food and service are fine, but not memorable.

  • E M.

One of the best happy hours in the city. They have a great selection of beer and the food is spot on. I love it all, plus who can go wrong with all of the pups?! I like the fact that I can bring my family in for happy hour so we all can enjoy even if we aren't all over 21. You won't find anywhere else like this in Seattle.

  • Joe C.

This place is absolutely terrific. It's a pub/restaurant where dogs are welcomed and free to socialize among each other (on a leash of course). When we visited, all dogs were well behaved inside the restaurant. They checked each other out and they seemed to really have a good time, perhaps even a better time than us humans. The restaurant offers ground beef for dogs in a bowl (it costs a few $ bucks). We ordered the ground beef for our dog, but I felt sorry for the other doggies because they looked on jealously while our dog ate his dinner. Their owners weren't as generous and didn't order the ground beef for them. The human food wasn't bad either. Excellent french fries.

This place is kind of a nightmare for me. I think Fremont just isn't for me. I wasn't in the greek system in college, sorry! I have been twice and there will be no more.

  • Jennifer Y.

Talk about dog friendly! I came on a Thursday night for dinner, every party that was in there had at least one dog. Of course I bought my puppy with me to check it out also! The food was average, typical for an American bar. Nothing 'exceptional' or must have. However, they had a good selection of beer, great atmosphere, bartender and waitresses were friendly. Not quite sure if my dog had a great time since the restaurant was much too small for him to socialize with other dogs without getting in the way of people walking by or waiters trying to get through. However, it is nice to be able to take my dog with me to grab a bite or a drink without having to leave my dog behind.

New mgmt lately? I haven't recognized any of the staff the last two times I've been in over the last month or so. The service has also taken a bit of a dive despite it not being terribly busy when we've gone. Will be going back as this has always been a great place, but this is a little odd.

really not a bad place at all...but the wasabi tartar sauce killed it for me. I asked for some "regular" tartar sauce and they didn't have it! Who the heck doesn't have regular tartar sauce? I forced the dry fish sticks down and got outta there. Other than that everything was ok.

Excellent pub food, a good selection of beers. Friendly atmosphere, although service wasn't terrific. I like the dog friendly aspect for sure. A good choice for pub grub in the Fremont area. The burgers are a good choice for certain.

Whether you come in on a Friday night during the Husky basketball game or any other night of the week... the service is great, the food is awesome, and you can bring your dog inside! Order a doggy patty along with your dinner and Fido or Fi-Fi will be in heaven! Be sure to tip your bartender/waitress! They deserve it for the excellent service. I highly recommend the Steak Sandwich! The burgers are pretty good too! BONUS: They serve food much later than most places in Fremont which seem to close at 10pm lately!

  • Peggy R.

I thought Norm's was stellar. The service was wonderful, the crowd was decent, and my dog was very happy there. We were there for Happy Hour with my boyfriend's bro and wife, and the food was outstanding. We had the mini-salmon burgers which were FABOOLUS, as well as the hummus plate, which didn't make us falafel. I absolutely adored the huge bowl of chips and the Jolly Roger brew was deeeelish! The crowd was pretty mellow, and everyone was very friendly, but we left at 9 before it got to busy. We are definitely going again and might even become regulars. Norm's RAWKS -- just sayin!

  • Chuck R.

Wow. Disappointing. Seated immediately but it took 10 minutes to get an order in (two breakfast plates and a sandwich). Then another 30 to get our food and 10 more to pay. Mine was cold but not worth investing any more time to get it fixed. There was also a bill error for a side that we did not ask for or get. The saving grace and second star is for the manager McKenna who adjusted the bill for the inconvenience. This is a super dog-friendly place. If you are not a dog person or don't have a lot of time to kill, try someplace else.

If you have a dog and want to take him/her to the bar with you, then Norm's is THE place to go. The whole place is packed with dogs and their humans. Norm's has a run-of-the-mill beer and food selection, and the clientele is friendly. If you don't have a dog in tow, then there's nothing special about Norm's. For dog owners, though, this is probably 5-stars. One tip/request: I do NOT recommend bringing your pup unless he/she is mellow around: 1) food smells, 2) lots of other dogs in a crowded space, 3) fairly loud room.

Food comes out fast, fresh, and delicious! I had their Backyard BBQ burger with a veggie patty and it was so good! They serve string fries which I am totally a fan of! Also, a perfect place to come with your doggies!!!! We were on vacation from Texas so we didn't have our pets, but we LOVE dogs so were excited to see the dogs there. Definitely made our day! Waiter was attentive even though he was serving us and manning the bar. Awesome! He was super casual, very friendly, and overall great.

Mixed drinks are weak. Beer is good. Bartenders are nice. Doormen are dickwads. People are generally cool. Not enough space for all these people on Fri/Sat nights. The place feels like it has some history. The bathrooms are disgusting. So on one hand, it's.. on the other, it's... a big "ehhhh" from me. I'd go here, but never excited to be here.

Came here on a Saturday night with some friends after Ballroom. This place is a nice and busy bar with a decent amount of bar stools. Luckily, the five of us grabbed seats right when we got in so that was pretty sweet. We really only ordered a few shots of jaeger and soco lime (which I now dislike very much). I asked for a jaeger bomb because I am weaksauce and did not take jaeger on its own. I asked for red bull but all they had was Rock Star :( That was kind of disappointing but it was still a fun time at Norm's.

This is my favorite place to go for happy hour. They have turkey sliders that are so yummy. The place has a good vibe and is a nice location for walking around after a nice meal. Norms is a little bit of heaven.

Norm's is a great spot. It has the attitude of a divey bar, but it's super clean, has great service, good food, and DRINKS! Maybe it's the fact that they serve PBR 40's (love 'em) that gives it that divey edginess. In any case, there's something truly special about sucking back 40 ounces of ice cold beer from a paper bag. It makes me feel like a perhaps slightly immature bad ass if I think about it, but it seems totally right when you triumphantly pull the empty bottle from the bag and order another one (80 oz, oh my!) The fact that you can bring dogs is also awesome. Most of the dogs (and owners) are well behaved, but there's the very rare "bad dog" so you should still be mindful. I'm definitely not one to be overprotective, but out 4 month old pup got bit in the face by such a dog - and the owner didn't even flinch! That obviously has nothing to do with Norm's.... The food menu is awesome - highly recommended for lunch or dinner. I was recently turned on to the Meatloaf BLT (I skip the T), and it is INCREDIBLE. On Friday and Saturday late nights, the place gets jammed and it's a full on drunken party - I'd even bet that some revelers put back 120 oz of PBR or more (HOLY $H*T!)

First time yesterday...friend recommended this fun dog friendly bar and eatery. Happy dogs and their owners everywhere...Curly Moe his dad and me his I uncle fit right in...the warm, friendly, efficient staff made us feel welcomed. Great happy hour 4-7...with good eats, fun draft selection, and good cheap bar bourbon...thanks for the pick. Great time for us ( we needed it ) and Curley Moe ( btw...dad's name is Larry ) met new new friends especially the retriever. Can't wait to return, told several dog owners this morning already, highly recommend...even if you don't have a dog yet :) :) :-)

Love it. Well behaved dogs everywhere. I know, some people may have a problem with the whole dog thing, but I'll be honest, a mean, a flea won't hurt me. I know that's gross. I felt the place was actually pretty clean. Just an FYI for everyone who's never worked in a restaurant, they are all gross in there own way. Staff, facility, food quality, corners, behind the scenes, I mean, the list goes on for sure. Norm's is legitimate, for sure. The Happy Hour sliders were out of this world. Great thing, lots of meat options, turkey, beef, veggie, salmon, I mean, really. Plus awesome toppings, I'd go on, but you can see the menu online. Great, great stuff. If you don't mind the animals (if you do, most definitely not your place), just dogs, that is, this place is the best. Love it. Thanks for listening!

The last time I cozied up to the bar with a fine IPA and a chihuahua as my drinking mate? That would probably be never, actually. The times they are a changing and Norm's was the destination last Sunday. As God powered Tim Tebow and the Broncos to victory over Ben Rapelisburger, Duchess and I (the trembly chihuahua) got drunk and canoodled at the bar. Yeah, that's probably a flea in your beer. If you show up on Saturday or Sunday morning they have cheap morning booze (mimosas, bloody marias) for extending the party.

Stumbled upon this place while walking around Fremont. I am a huge dog person, and love the idea of being able to dine and drink with my pooch. There were several well-behaved dogs happily hanging out with their owners. I wish Minneapolis had a bar like this! Food was good too. Brie/chicken sandwich was fantastic, and the homemade chips were addictive. Tablemates enjoyed cobb salad, bacon cheeseburger and fish/chips, so a decent variety

Love Norm's!!! Walking distance from my apartment, good food, entertaining even when you're solo due to all the furry 4 legged customers in there. Unfortunately, my dog is too neurotic to bring to Norm's, but I love that they cater to the pups. I am partial to the Chicken Gorgonzola Mac-n-Cheese, amazing! Lately, I usually go there for brunch on a lazy Sunday. Salmon Eggs Benedict and $4 mimosas, love it!! Was not impressed with the biscuits and gravy however, I even tried it 2 weekends in a row thinking the first time may have just been an off day for them...no. Biscuits and gravy is just lacking unfortunately. But that's my only negative, and it doesn't hold a candle to all the wonderful things about Norm's. If you haven't gone and you love food and dogs...Norm's is the place for you!

I love my dog. Really, I love my dog more than most people love their children. He's a big 85-pound attention hound and there's no place we love to go more than Norm's. I'm not a huge fan of bar food, I don't drink PBR (especially from a 40 ounce bottle in a bag!) and I'm not into frat boys (despite being a single 20-something woman); HOWEVER, it is really fun to watch all those things in action while I hang out and drink wine with my dog! (To clarify, I don't order the dog wine, but he usually gets something off the menu!) We went there last night (for the third time) and had so much fun! The people at the table next to us were celebrating a dog birthday (too cute!) and they even gave my dog one of the many toys they had to celebrate. They had tiny little dogs (several dogs, all under 10 pounds) and still loved my big oaf of a pooch! If you love dogs, you will have MANY friends at Norm's (both the human and dog kind!). Everyone is friendly and even the people without dogs want to talk about and pet yours. As a (slightly obsessed) dog owner, it's totally awesome to have someone interested in talking about Otis! Everyone claps when he does his tricks (he knows lots!) and he always goes home and sleeps like a log afterward. For a people-oriented dog, it's way better than a workout at doggy daycare!

I have a dog that is practically attached to my hip, so it's good to find a place that allows dogs inside. For a "dog friendly' place, I was a little surprised it was so tight and loud inside, but they had a great policy for the pups, no barking rules, etc. The drink service was quite slow, but the mac & cheese I ordered was great.

My easy review for Norm's... Pros for Norm's: 1. Its a dog friendly bar 2. Serves Moose Drool beer 3. Friendly bartenders 4. They have couches! Cons for Norm's: 1. Its in Fremont (read my review for Nectar for clarification) 2. They stop serving food at 10:30 p.m.

I watched the Euro Cup final here as the G&D was packed to the brim. I was lucky enough to get a seat, and even though it was packed the waitress was still serving tables and I was also able to have a good breakfast to boot. The atmosphere was great, but I'm have a feeling the the football crowd are there normal clientèle, but I'll definitely try it out again.

Since I usually do all my drinking before noon, I've never encountered shitty bartenders or the 'douchnozzle' college kid clientele. The servers have always been friendly and never seem to mind having to navigate a floor strewn with dogs of all sizes and dispositions. My pup loves it here. I love the BLAT and they make a decent Manhatten.

I've been going to Norm's for a few years now. Let me preface this by saying that I love the bar itself. However, there is a particular bartender named Alyona that has ruined the Norm's experience for me. This is a bar that is known for friendly people and having a good time, but she has made a mockery out of this reputation. Over the last half a dozen or so times that I have frequented this bar, she has physically thrown money back in my face, lied to my friends about the money they have given for their services, and has been all around rude and ill-mannered to me and my friends. For instance, tonight we went out to Norm's for a planned birthday celebration. Five of my friends experienced poor experience from this individual bartender. They literally had money stolen from them as she gave them incorrect change from their drink payments and pretended like she did not know what was going on. I witnessed these incidents in person, and I witnessed two incidents of her being rude to two female friends of mine. Personally, I love Norm's the bar itself, however, after tonight I will never return. I am a very forgiving and reasonable person, but after confronting this woman regarding her behavior she immediately had me thrown out of the bar without addressing my concerns.. We all work too hard to be treated in such a way. From a monetary standpoint, you will literally be stolen from. This is not a good feeling for anyone and not something people should expect when going out to have fun. In an effort to rectify the situation and explain how we were treated to supervisor or manager, I called Norm's the day after our visit. I was told I would be given a call back, but have yet to hear from them. Thank you for reading and I hope you can understand where I'm coming from. Visit Norm's at your own discretion.

    (1)
  • Joshua W.

They WILL steal from you. I've been to Norm's at least 10 times, but no more. I love the 40s in paper bags and the bouncers are friendly and everything else about the bar, but the bartenders WILL STEAL FROM YOU. I've had friends tell me that one of their bar tenders has screwed them over but I never experienced it myself, until last night. I went to Norm's for a birthday party and, out of party of about 12-15 people, at least of my friends were screwed over by a bartender named Alyona, including myself. Anything from giving you the wrong change on a drink order to pretending they didn't get your money when you order a drink. It's sickening. They WILL steal from you. Watch your money and tell your friends who go to Norm's, watch your money. If you're looking for a friendly place to go in Fremont, look somewhere else. Consider yourself warned.

Fun bar! Nice vibe, great for dog lovers. Had a tasty tequila shot and big ol' 40. Surprise. But the BEST thing about Norm's was how they found my favorite scarf that I had let slip down the side of a booth, and held it for me through the weekend. That scarf came from Egypt with a friend and there would have been no way to replace it! Thanks, Norm's!

I would give Norm's another half star, maybe even a full one if the service wasn't so gosh darn awful! (Trying to be polite here and I'm also trying to give up the f-word). I love the Meatloaf BLT to the point that I sometimes crave it. I love dogs and since I currently don't have one of my own, I like the fact that I can visit with some really cool ones at Norms. Hey - maybe the service would be better if they just tied a tray to the back of a dog and let them run the business?

Definitely love any place that lets you bring your pooch, Although I have not brought Maarten there my friends have brought there dog and I tell ya there is nothing like watching a Seahawk play off game with a big old Rottie waiting to grab any scrap that falls to the ground. The BLAT bacon lettuce, avocado and tomato..........delicious. One slice bread, one part bacon, one slice bread, tomato, lettuce and oh my gawd more bread. Served with fresh sliced friend potato chips. Great location, pooch friendly, a real neighborhood locale!

Been there mostly to go drinking - can't go wrong with PBR 40's. They have a wide variety of beers on tap and on most days their happy hour runs from 4-7 with 3$ drafts and 5$ appetizers. I love the fact they let you bring your doggies in (last night we had the pleasure of meeting an adorable 13wk old English bulldog.) The food is your traditional brewery fair - burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads etc. They have a wide variety of burgers and their steak sandwich is pretty original (balsamic onions, tender meat and a really great aoili.) The fish and chips were tender and flaky and the breading was very flavorful. Their fries are also quite good. The three stars is for the service. Not that it's not friendly, just always take a long time to get food and drink from the server or to get service at all. Its worth a try for sure!

  • Tom R.

The bartender steals from you - just like others have said. It was my first drink purchase of the night, and it came out to $12 dollars and change. I paid with a 20. The bartender gave me back a five and walked away - I had to specifically ask for the rest of my money. I'm not opposed to tipping - I always go for 20% at meals and hit between 15-20% for drinks - with a minimum of $1/drink on cheap nights even if that drink is only 2 or 3 bucks. But someone just taking money out as a de facto tip without asking is not just annoying, but unethical as well. I'm not going back. And anyone that does, keep track of what you paid.

fun place to grab a drink with friends. good food, great selection of beer. Norm's is one our favorite places to grab lunch on the weekend, since we always have our dogs with us. The food has always been delicious, the service good, and being able to see and interact with all the other dogs there is the best part. Highly recommended!

Bringing man's best friend in to the dining room has never bothered me, so I love going to Norm's to grab a bite, a beer, and be around awesome dogs. The menu is decent, bar is excellent, but the service is often slow. Other than the wait times, a fantastic place. The Meatloaf BLT is the best sandwich I've ever had!

Anyone who knows me and who has read my reviews knows that I'm a sucker for gimmicks - and I was so very tempted by the 40 oz. PBR in a paper bag gimmick. Alas, I did not go to Seattle for PBR, but some local beer. There was a handful of draft beers, but I was disappointed when the waitress informed us that they only had one Seattle beer, which I settled for. Norm's is a great neighborhood place for families and even your dogs. We came on a Saturday night at about 9:30 and it was a transition period between dinner and nightlife. Overall, it was just a standard bar, nothing particularly great about it. Drinks are cheap and the music wasn't too loud, so I can't complain.

It's fun if you're already drunk (which I was), and it's a nice idea to bring your pets to a restaurant*. I agree with the opinion that it's far too often frequented by the douche-crowd overflow from downtown or the udistrict. It's got OKAY food at best, but by far the best selling point of Norm's is that it is A -next to Roxy's, and B: sells Tallboys of PBR in a can...in a bag. * no it's not

Several TVs and dog friendly. Gigantic portions at decent prices. I had the chicken fried steak with gravy, potatoes, a biscuit and eggs. Pretty tasty. The staff was super friendly and drinks seemed pretty stiff. Worth checking out!

Fun place to go for a late night out without having to dress up too much. The late night food here is pretty good. I like the $5 PBR 40's that they will give you a paper bag to cover up like a bum. This place gets a little packed on Friday and Saturday nights just like everywhere else in Fremont.

  • Randi S.

Sigh. I totally don't like dogs but their food is so awesome I can almost completely ignore their yaps and barks. The hot wings are amazing and so is their blue cheese. The fries are always perfectly seasoned, and the BLAT is almost worthy of being a last meal request. I also love most of the staff, the fact they had the Doggy Bowl on on superbowl, the cozy couches in the back, and if you need a brunch/some hair of the dog (get it?) on the weekend they have it all, including $4 mimosas and bloody marys till 2pm on the weekend. +10 for there being a place I can guide people to who try to come into the bar I work that have dogs. I always feel bad when I tell them they are not allowed. But they can go to norms!!

  • Tamra G.

I love that it's a dog friendly establishment but that's kinda where my enthusiasm runs out. I used to come here a lot for brunch but lately I'm only "Meh" for it. The brunch is good enough when I'm hungover and I don't frequent the bar at night soooo, three stars. Average bar, average food, average service.

There's nothing 'epic' about Norm's. It's very understated, has the 'new-Fremont' vibe, for the most part. Being a new dog owner--not necessarily by choice--led me here for the first time, and I've been back a couple times since. This is certainly not a place I'd go out of my way to head to, but since it's a dog friendly environment, I return. I've found a number of items on their menu that I enjoy, and all-in-all, it's a pretty decent place with good beer on tap (which is a requirement, in my book). The staff is pretty decent, and the place can get rather packed so they do a decent job of attending to your needs. It's a typica 3-star place for me, but the dog-factor bumps it up a notch in the event I want to stop for a beer somewhere and I have canine in tow. The location of Norm's makes it a hot spot for people en route to other establishments by night, and weekend breakfast there is quite popular. Shockingly, I haven't been in there when there's been a serious abundance of dogs, but I suppose the day will come.

Impressive beer selection. Excellent service. Our waitress was extremely personable and right on top of things. I didn't eat a big meal, but my guests ordered food which I picked at and it was very good as far as bar food standards goes. It's also very reasonably priced. Four drinks, with three of them being cocktails, came to about $25. Compared to other places, where it's $12 for a drink that took 20 minutes to make and was indifferently handed to you by a snooty bar tender, that is a steal. I will be back.

    (4)
  • Alaina G.

The location is convenient, the service is good, the food is alright... I think what I like most about the place is the fact that our pooch Farty can sit with us, and drool over our food until he gets the last bite. He gets a little weirded out with the concept, but it helps that the other dogs are well behaved... and once we get our food that's all he cares about, he'd sit in the booth with us if he could! They have TVs, place gets a little crowded when the good games are on. They need to make more places where dogs are welcome!

Excellent place. We were here for breakfast for the first time. Great food, nice folks and, DOG friendly - sweet! We had an omelette and a Norms combo (French toast, bacon, eggs). Oh, and a couple bloody Mary's ...those were good too. We will be back.

Despite not being a dog lover, I do enjoy Norm's. I get cravings for their veggie sausage sliders - not eating meat made me feel like I was missing out on the slider craze, but Norm's helped to rectify that situation. I've also enjoyed their fries and veggie burgers. Their happy hour (every day) is also a great deal - all appetizers are $5 (including my beloved sliders).

You can bring your dog inside! This is where dog lovers go with their dog. They have lots of beers on tap and their veggie sliders are a wonderful bar food blissful experience. Tots are well seasoned. Chips and dips is good too. The service is good, at times I have had it be a bit spotty with one girl in particular (multiple occasions), BUT at the same time I can say this: My first time here the place was PACKED to the brim. I ordered a beer from a bar the was 2-3 people deep and waited outside for it to be delivered to me. Concerned that the order would be lost and/or forgotten in such a packed house, I was happy to say that the one waitress who is super nice didn't forget at all. The got it outside and found me despite being ridiculously packed. The bathrooms are usually very clean and the staff is nice. There was one time where there was a pack of drunk guys who were obviously bullying the bar a bit. They were being extremely loud and for some reason decided to do a walk through of the place; despite the bar being right by the door. I think they saw someone at a table in the back that they knew or just met. nevertheless, it sparked a walk through of the place which resulted in a few tables being hassled as they left, including mine. No real harm was done, but it would've been nice to not have a rude sexual comment be said towards the ladies at my table. I'm sure the other tables hassled felt the same. It would've been nice to see a little more responsibility expressed from the staff on this occasion, as I have seen many, many families here eating with babies despite it being mostly a dog bar hang out. I've been there many, many times and never saw an issue like this again. Not on super bowl Sunday, not during trivia or any other time. So I take it as an extremely isolated experience. I would also say that it is not kid friendly simply because of all the dogs. It's not like the dogs that go here are out of control either. Everyone's dogs for the most part are EXTREMELY well behaved and there is never an issue. Rather, the issue is with the parents who think it is cute, funny and acceptable to allow their kids who are just learning their balance to run around. My dog is not aggressive at all, BUT if a screaming child who doesn't know to not look a dog in it's eyes falls on my relaxing dog and startles it, I'm sure it would snap, bark and maybe even lightly bite as a warning. It makes me question who should be on the leash; a relaxing dog getting startled and reacting naturally to a perceived danger/being pinned down, or a child allowed to run around. Seems like an accident waiting to happen to me. Go here!

  • Inna B.

I don't have a dog, but I like other people's dogs. As long as they're friendly. I love that this place lets people hang out with their pups as they drink, eat, and/or hang out! I had the "boring" burger and it was pretty good. Liked the fries, too. I love having the pickle on the side, even though this particular one was a little wet for my tastes. I don't like pickle juice going down my wrist as I take a bite of it! Service was decent and I learned that I kind of dig whatever pilsner they had on tap. I think the name starts with a G? I was there for a (very busy and popular, apparently) trivia night with some awesome Yelpers. The categories/questions were pretty hard and I only felt relatively knowledgeable in one category, but it was still fun and our team did well in the first half (the only one I was there for).

Burgers are pretty awesome. Bringing my pup to come get tuned-up with daddy can be good times. My favorites local beers are on tap (Manny's...mmmm). Not much bad to review except that it gets crazy crowded during the usual times and the bartenders don't always kill me with kindnesss.

Fantastic breakfast and killer atmosphere. Nothing is cooler than eating a huge meal and having a ton of dogs chilling at your feet. It's like a dog restaurant and we're just there to keep the dogs company. Truly a unique Seattle experience.

  • Greg J.

I've enjoyed Norm's for quite a while as well as my pup who looks forward to each visit. What compelled me to finally write a review is a relatively new menu item FRIED CHICKEN its quite possibly the best fried chicken I've had in Seattle with light cornmeal batter leaving a crispy skin 3 pieces leg thigh breast then very lightly drizzled with honey. Its cooked to order as you can tell by the extra time & the dish itself. Very friendly staff & anyplace dog friendly is already a leg up on the others. The dogs also seem to be very well mannered.

  • Lilani E.

Coming from a state that barely let's you walk your dog anywhere food is served or eaten, Norm's is GREAT. Our pooch thought he was SO cool for being able to hang with us inside a restaurant. BIG downside: THE WAIT. We were supposedly the "first on the waiting list". There was a regular and his wife sitting at the bar that sat down. Okay...so MAYBE they were there before us and he lied and said we were first on the list. Then a cranky/rude mom with crazy kids come in and puts her name down. While we and now 3 other parties after us wait patiently watching the football games on the tube. The mom pulls the host aside and I see her talking to him. HMMMM...that's FUNNY. Then I spot a table open up and he SITS HER DOWN BEFORE US. I get it. Rude customers are the worst and you just want them to shut up and eat but what you are really doing is REINFORCING that sort of behavior. At the least, he could have come to us immediately and explained, "This lady is bat crazy and insisted to sit down. I'm SO sorry." But he avoided eye contacted and so WE called him out on it. Don't let rude customers win! It's so UNFAIR for everyone else that is patiently waiting. Especially if you think we don't think we are paying attention. Momma didn't raise no, fool. Pretty much, the 3 stars here are for the COOL DOG FACTOR and definitely not for food nor service.

We come here with some regularity. I'm not entirely sure why but sometimes we sit at the bar and watch the game while we eat brunch and sometimes we sit at a table for lunch or dinner. I love sneaking the pooch some fries under the table plus the waitstaff is really nice and super accommodating. The vegetarian portobello burger is really good and so are the salads! I guess that's why we keep coming back to Norm's.

My dog, Charlie, and I just moved from Michigan to Seattle. We drove for three days so Norms was EXACTLY what we both needed. I heard that they allowed dogs in the place and was expecting to be slightly dirty but I was pleasantly surprised. The beers on tap were impressive and so was the chili (that's apparently made with peanut butter?!). Not to mention their prices were amazing. The icing on the cake? Everyone was cheering for the Detroit Lions that played on the big screen TV's. I'm sold! Me and Charlie will be back.

If you're looking for a new profile picture for your facebook account, head on down to Norm's and buy yourself a 40oz PBR and have it served in a bag. Sure, it's gimmicky, but spending a measly $5 for a 40oz is worth it for the photo ops and "back in high school" memories alone. If contrived irony doesn't do it for you, then maybe their trivia nights will draw you in. We arrived around 6 on a Thursday evening and there was a fairly large and diverse crowd already gathered to get their trivia game on. This bar has gone to the dogs, literally. The bar is not only bedecked in kitschy dog paraphernalia, but you're allowed to bring your pooch inside while you enjoy a pint. On the weekends, I hear the place fills up, but if I find myself in Fremont on a weekday, I'd be happy to head to Norm's.

Clearly this place has a following...dog lovers. I think this may be the first bar/restaurant I have been to where you can actually bring your dog INTO the restaurant and have them at your table, as opposed to making them wait on the outside patio or leashed to a bike rack. From a dog lover's perspective...pretty cool. For a person eating food who doesn't want dog hair near my food, not so cool. Maybe the Seattle food service laws are less strict than other cities? I don't know how they get away with this. I went for happy hour, which is one of the best I have been to in Fremont. Good beer specials and discounts apply to all beers on tap. I have the moose drool...pretty good. For food, I ordered from the happy hour menu. I got the sliders. There are 5 different kinds to pick from. I had (in my order of preference) -Veggie sliders - probably my favorite. -Salmon sliders with a nice tartar sauce (on the side) -Sloppy joe slider...I think there was some bacon in here The best part is that if you order 3 or 4 different slider types, you get a nice array of sauces that you can mix and match. Good customer service. It gets busy, especially on trivia night, so get there early. Go for happy hour and bring your dog. Just be prepared for a little dog hair in the air. Makes us stronger, right?

While waiting for a bus the other day, I was leafing through the Stranger and saw an ad with a dog wearing a Mariners hat. I thought this was pretty great; I tore out the ad and kept it in my wallet. The next day, I was wandering around and ended up in Fremont. I figured that as long as I was in the neighborhood, I'd get a sandwich at Roxy's. Then I noticed that next door was the place whose ad I'd been carrying around. Naturally, I had to try it. 1. Friendly and prompt service. 2. Good food. 3. Pooches everywhere. All said, a pretty great place. Only complaint is that my sandwich had some chips on the side, and the chips needed salt in the worst way.

Norm's has a fantastic burger. Unfortunately their delicious food is masked by their extremely slow service. Don't head to Norm's if you're just going out to grab a quick bite. Also, avoid it on Thursday nights unless you are a die hard trivia fan (in which case you should get there around 5 to get a table). Dogs of all sizes are allowed at Norm's and it really adds to the atmosphere, but make sure that if you bring your dog, they are well behaved. I used to get the chicken and brie sandwich, however the quality has gone down hill so much that the chicken doesn't even fit on the bread anymore. Now my usual is a burger, which is consistently good. If you've got time on your hands, are in the mood for a good burger, and want to hang out with your furry friend, head to Norm's. Order yourself a Basic Unimaginative but Damn Good Burger, a 40 oz PBR in a paper bag, and sit back and relax.

Yay! I'm a fan! Service is always good. Whats better - crowd is always good. Its a down to earth bunch, whom have probably read a novel cover to cover in the last 6 months, which makes for good conversation! You know me, had a Bloody Maria - this place has all the fixins (beans, veggies and more). Very yummy! Also had the app, Brie with Pears... yummy! My friend had a burger which he would not shut up about - it was that good! OH and guess what - if I had a dog, I would have brought him, but we broke up 2 weeks ago... : ) Cheers Yall!

If you are a gardenburger connesieur like I am then you will want to check out Norm's. They beat out the Ram in my book. Also the bloody mary is delicious. Much better than the place next door. The best part of Norms is the atmosphere - dogs. Mine love to come chill and there are always other dogs to socialize with. The nightlife is kind of meh. I know my friends are all about the PBR 40 but I could take it or leave it. The owner Steve (not Norm - he's the dog) is pretty handsy with his staff, but in a good drunk way... They have drink specials everyday that are usually pretty decent, not fruity gin cocktails.

Norm's is a dog-friendly pub with great beer, food, service, and people/dog watching. They let dogs eat INSIDE the restaurant with you at your table!!! We visited on Friday night with several friends (two and four legged) and everyone had a blast. One tip for Norm's: get a new bouncer... he was a tool.

Great breakfast, lots of good beer on tap and the atmosphere is great with all the dogs.. It is a little dark when you sit in the back of the establishment, but that really only effects you when your there during the day.

Norm's makes me happy. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, the staff is uber friendly, the place is clean (in case you had concerns about a dog-friendly establishment) and, most importantly, the food is yums. I recommend the sliders (available in a variety of ways: beef, pork, salmon, veggie sausage...) and fries for lunch and the pancakes for breakfast. I'm not a meat eater, but my date is in l.o.v.e. with the bacon here. I appreciate that they serve veggie sausage. Full bar. $4 Mimosas and Bloody Mary's from 10-2 on the weekends. I don't know how they can serve food in a place where my pup gets to hang out with me, but they do and that makes me extra love it. YAY FOR NORM'S!!

They got rid of the Mothership on tap which TOTALLY bums me out! I love you still, Norm.

Wait...you can bring your dog inside while you drink? I love it! I don't own a dog but I love them and want one. I had started to get the impression that Seattle wasn't a very dog friendly city but I was corrected by many people on this last trip and saw for myself that I was mistaken. April and I stopped in here on our last night in town and were having so much fun, I knocked my beer over where it met my beat up and once functional Blackberry making it oh so not functional. I heart Seattle.

Came here last night for the first time.. What a fun place there are lots of friendly dogs that come here with there owners for dinner and drinks. I think it is great that my friends can have a birthday party for there dog at a bar a bar that happens to have good food and good beer. Thats Great!!!!! The staff is pretty nice and friendly as well. What I meet of the bar tender he seemed nice as well. I will have to remember this place and have to try and come by from time to time.

I have to give this place 5 big stars because it is definitely my hang out...and for several reasons. The happy hour is awesome. All appetizers $5? Yes please! The sliders are my favorite. I love love love the turkey sliders with cheese and caramelized onion. SO good. The burgers are filling and delicious as are the sandwiches and salads. I've never had anything disappointing. It's good bar food. The 40's are rad as well. $3 on Wednesdays? I'm in. Besides that they have a great beer selection along with cocktails. Everything is decently priced. The staff is awesome. They recognize you and make conversation. Everyone is relaxed and friendly. The only complaint I would have is this place, like EVERYWHERE else in Fremont, becomes a frat party on the weekends. So I would definitely suggest avoiding Norms Friday and Saturday nights after 9. But it's not their fault a university is across the water! I really don't see how you could go wrong with Norms. I've been going there for over three years and am happy to call this place my neighborhood pub.

Five star because my little Coco could come with me! Five stars to any place that loves my boo as much as I love her! :) Oh yeah, I guess the place is pretty cool too! I just wish their bar food was more similar to bar prices. Ifffff you're feeling my drift.

Dogs Dogs Dogs. It's apparent very fast that dogs are the theme at Norm's. Not only are there a ton of dog pictures on the wall, but you are allowed to bring your dogs in to the bar too, which is pretty neat, since there are usually a bunch of different breeds in there at any point of time. Yeah, Yeah, everyone else has mentioned you can get a 40oz. of PBR in a paper bag, which is cool, but now that I am in my 30's, i just go straight to the rundown mini-mart to pick one up at half the price. Other than that, I found the beer selection pretty decent. Not only did they have Maritime Pacific Jolly Roger on tap, which is awesome since it's a seasonal very local beer that not many bars pick, but there were other fine local beers too. I would love to come back soon and try their food, since I've never had it, and bring my yellow lab, too! Norms is located in Fremont, right on the #28 bus line, so it's easy to get to from downtown.

The is a great place for dog lovers! i was there on a holiday and almost all tables had at least one dog with them. It's pretty interesting just to watch dogs inside the restaurant even you don't come with your dog. I am a fan simply because you can bring your buddy in with you ! Food was okay - not great but they have good beer selection and price during HH. I would definitely come back again with my dog. In fact,I am planning to take my dog here for his birthday! Staffs are very friendly.

I keep forgetting about this place as an option for hanging out with your dog. It was late on a Saturday night, and we needed food and drink, and had a dog who was still a puppy. The burger was tasty, service was super friendly, and the other dogs in this place were well behaved. Bottom line: bring your dog. You and he/she will be happy you did.

We took my greyhound to Norm's last Sunday night. It was late, about 9pm, and I'd heard amazing things about this place. Walking in, there wasn't any direction to wait for seating or seat yourselves.. so we just made ourselves at home. Three other dogs lounged at the feet of their owners; two were at booths, one at the bar. Nestling into a table near the back, we looked at the menu of great pub-foods and then ordered. The food came quickly. I had the backyard barbecue burger stacked with onion rings and BBQ sauce. It was one of the better burgers that has recently graced my digestive system. My friend had a pastrami that was stacked so high, he had to squish it down to bite! The food was great! Our waitress was friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. She stopped in a couple times to pet the dog and see if we needed anything. She said that next time, if Comet is hungry, they do have doggie burgers and chicken breasts for the canine guests. (I hadn't noticed them on the menu, so I was glad she mentioned them!) The only drawback I felt Norm's had was that it was a little loud. Other than that... what a great little neighborhood alehouse and solution to our "what do we do with the dog during dinner" dilemma! Thanks, Norm's!

As good as it gets around here for a dog-friendly pub that I've seen! After playing in the water at Magnuson, we took the pup over to Norm's. We shared a couple pitchers while my dog slept beside the table. Being able to have him inside with us was a huge plus since it was rainy and a bit cold that day... an outdoor venue would not have been pleasing. The service was great and the atmosphere decent... the red lighting took me a minute to get used to, but totally fine after a few minutes. There were many other dogs in there... all of them well-behaved and quiet. After moving from Portland I felt I'd be missing the Lucky Lab where I'd frequently enjoy a few brews with my dog and relax the day away... but Norm's is better because you can have your companion inside, and it's definitely more affordable. Though we only ordered a plate of fries (yummy!) I noticed other patrons enjoying their food - and it all looked very good. I am amazed that they can have a kitchen in such close proximity to the animals... but whatever loophole they are in, I love it! The dog rules are clearly posted and it seems that everyone is quite respectful of them. Definitely going to be returning very soon!

Took my dog there to kill a little time while waiting for an appt. Loved the place and will go back. There were several dogs with owners when I visited and all had excellent control of their dogs, no crazy out of control dogs. The place was super clean, service was excellent, they give you a parking token and parking is close and easy. The food was fine, decent selection for the non meat eater. I had the veggie mac and cheese which was tasty. You can buy your dog a bowl of food too, mine had a beef bowl and she loved it. Seating was spacious, cozy, and the overall atmosphere was relaxing.

DISCLAIMER: I don't proclaim to be a burger connoisseur or expert, and I certainly don't want to go down the path of debating one burger over another (there are plenty of posts on Yelp on the subject, and from what I've read, that particular debate is even more contentious than the 'Red Sox vs. Yankees' debate!) ;-) So, if you haven't guessed it yet I ordered a burger from Norm's: 1/3lb beef, bacon, provolone, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and some mayo (that I added at home), not gourmet but also not your day in the life Dick's burger, *sorry, I'm not a huge fan of Dicks, yes, they're quick and easy, and by no means are they 'bad', and of course they're an institution and there's all that cool culture surrounding Dick's, but I have to say that the burger I just had from Norm's was, to quote Jules from Pulp Fiction, "Mmm-mmmm. That is a tasty burger".... Here's the deal, the last few times I went out to have what I thought might be a gourmet burger I went to Lunchbox Laboratory in Ballard (now closed); they seemed like they might be experts with all the meat combos, including duck, and a million other options, etc... but unfortunately the one thing they did terribly (in my book) was the bacon, I like bacon on my burger, and I never in a million years thought I would ever say "too much bacon", but they actually put way too much bacon and it was all SOGGY.... soggy and bacon are two words that should never be said in the same sentence! The burger I just gad at Norm's was Muy Delicioso! And the fries at Norm's were really good too! :-)

Norm's is an awesome place... We have a new puppy who loves (French Bulldog) to visit this place. The food (both breakfast and bar food) is pretty darn good. We enjoy the staff and consider ourselves loyals after only a few weeks.

So many things to like about Norm's. The crowd, the cheap HH, the cute dogs, the local brews. The food is good bar food, and oh, so affordable during Happy Hour. I do wish they would tell you that their "mild" wings were actually bbq wings, but they were good (although not so great with bleu cheese on them, I would have ordered ranch had I known I was going to be eating bbq). I love the wait staff, our waitress was particularly nice to my 5 pound teacup Yorkie, Mason. The crowd really starts to pick up on Friday and Saturday nights after 9pm (can hardly get to the bathroom or bar) so be aware of that Frat Boy crowd on those nights. 7 Days A Week Happy Hour - 4 pm to 7pm, $3 drafts, $5 appetizers Sat & Sun 10-2, $4 Bloody Mary's & Mimosas Wed - $3 ea 40 ounce PBR's, $5 appetizers Thur - Trivia

Norm's has good food and pours good beer. I'd give them a 4 star rating but for two reasons. 1. I love dogs. I have one of my own and for the most part the people who bring their dogs into Norm's do so because they know they have extremely well behaved dogs. Not all of them though. I've spent meals at Norm's using my hands to eat and my legs to keep people's dogs out of my face. This isn't directly Norm's fault but they are the ones who put very little restrictions on what dogs get to be in there and don't enforce any kind of "well behaved dog" rules in my experience. 2. Slow ass service. Especially on weekends. They have one waiter (a pony-tailed guy of about 30-35) who is maybe the slowest I've ever seen. I never go in if the place is just ridiculously crowded so we can't really blame that. No, this guy puts the drink orders in, the bartender pours them in a very reasonable amount of time, and they sit... and sit... and sit. I've watched this happen on a few occasions. Same waiter. And here's the best part. After the beers have gotten nice and flat from sitting for sometimes close to 10 minutes (no joke) the pony tailed dude likes to then take a straw and stir them up so they don't look so flat. Is this the way you serve a drink? Never seen this anywhere else. Just Norm's.

Went back again and I'm still happy with Norm's. The staff was pleasant and helpful, and let us start happy hour at 9:30 am, rather than wait until 10am. Why does HH start an hour after the business opens? Get us in there early drinking and you'll get more cash out of us. The food was good, the portions are reasonably sized, and again, Oola was allowed to hang out and see the sights. This remains our go to breakfast place in Seattle.

My husband and I were walking around the area when we stumbled upon Norms. We saw that dogs were welcome there so we thought the experience (if anything) would be fun and different. It was. I've never seen anything like it. A lot of people had their dogs in there- remarkably well behaved (but they have to be according to the restaurant rules). The atmosphere is more exciting than the food though. I ordered a veggie burger and the hubs got a turkey sandwich. I almost felt mean eating burgers and fries around dogs that were hushed up and huddled under the tables. The service was only so-so as well. I also wouldn't recommend bringing your kids here. We don't have any- and there weren't any in there- but I can't imagine trying to control a small child in an environment overrun with dogs. It would be fun for the kids- but I doubt it would be for the parents. A unique idea and while we enjoyed watching the dogs and the customers interacting with each other and their respective pets- we'll probably skip this place in the future unless they get more attentive wait staff.

Let me start by saying, I have wanted to come here with my dog for quite some time. Well, I finally made it today, for brunch. When we first walked in we didn't know what to do since it was our first visit. Do we go pick a table? Do we wait to be seated? Can dogs come with us to the table, booths? After a couple of minutes the bartender came out and told us to sit wherever we wanted so that answered that. We sat at a booth. Although dogs cannot sit on the seats, they can sit right next to you and socialize with the other pooches coming and going. It is a very cozy chuck e cheese for dogs and their parents. Upon entering, I saw the special on the board was Croque Madam. One of my favorites. I didn't even need a menu. It did not disappoint. All the ingredients tasted very fresh and great quality. Especially, the ham, very lean, sliced so thin. Yummy. It came with a very nice house salad with blue cheese and fried onions. I can't wait to go back and neither can my dog!!!

A vegan-friendly restaurant/bar where I can take my dog to? Uh, duh, WINNING!!! Sofie loved stealing some of my fries and saying hi to the other pooches. The wait staff will also bring your dog some water which is sweet. I loved it, the pooch loved it, and we will be coming back for sure.

Don't expect gourmet brunch food here. The coffee is diner style with coffee mate and definitely no sugar in the raw. The eggs were good but the bacon greasy and pancakes tough and tasteless. The staff was very nice and you come here to bring your dog, that's about it. They had no bones though huh?

  • Michele L.

C'mon, where else can you buy 40s of beer at the bar ($6 for PBR) and pick up a brown paper bag to class things up? Its a fun stop on a night out in Fremont, split a bottle of PBR with a friend, settle back in a comfy booth (and sometimes a random happy-drunk guy might join you for a round of drinks). They do of course have a selection of beers on tap as well as a full bar, so don't worry, PBR is definitely not the par here. I really enjoy Norm's. Its really nothing too extraordinary but its a good crowd here on a weekend night, its really chill, people having a good time. The bartenders are super friendly and don't ignore you which I always appreciate. Have never tried the food but the menu looks good. And some of my friends INSIST upon Norm's so they can bring their dogs to accompany them on a night out (??). If that's your thing, this is your place.

I'm bias! I can bring my dog (Bailey) and NO ONE gives me the look. Do you know how minimal the list is for dog friendly places in Seattle? Bailey is not just any dog! She is a 60+lbs black lab and has some girth. Hands down, five stars for letting me have a good brunch and cold beer INSIDE your establishment WITH my pooch sleeping next to my booth. Thank you! As or the weekends here. Bailey cannot come it is WAY to crowded. Though I do love a bar that has a good chunk of people (I like to mingle), I don't like it when it's so packed you are standing on other peoples feet or bumping peoples head with your butt while their sitting in their own booth and your stuck standing, seemingly pleasant with your standstill situation and drink in hand. The food here is good!! I like the location to, perfect for strolling around what I call downtown Fremont and then stepping in for a bite to eat and some frosty draft beer.

I have lived in Fremont for a year, and somehow it took me that long to finally make it into Norms. For some reason whenever we are in the mood for a drink, or food in the Fremont area, Norms is always overlooked, since we have never tried it. We always end up at Roxys, George and Dragon or Qazis. One saturday afternoon we were walking our dog around fremont after going to the library and my boyfriend wanted a beer. Since they allow dogs, and we had our adorable little Bodhi with us we decided to take him in there with us. If you have a dog, and live in Fremont this place is a definite must. If you don't have a dog, you can probably skip it. Every single other table had a dog with them. Well, except 1, but we had seen them earlier putting their pit bulls in their car, so I am guessing they weren't allowed in there. Rule # 1 is your dog must behave and get along with all the other dogs. We each had a beer and an order of chicken wings. They have a good beer selection, even for someone picky like me. Their prices are standard, sadly we missed their weekend afternoon happy hour by 30 minutes! The chicken wings were very good too. I am not a huge wing fan, and these definitely hit the spot for me. I may go back and try other items on the menu, or I may just eat more chicken wings and beer. That doesn't sound like a bad lazy Saturday afternoon to me.

Yo! Where my dogs at??!?! We made it to Norm's on New Year's Eve, and it was somewhat packed but we were able to snag a table. There's a decent selection of draft brews. My brother's g-friend had a Scooby Snack, which was good, but where was the alcohol...either really watered down, or very dangerous. She later had a potato-based shot which she chased with a pickle---a bartender's recommendation (sounded nasty to me, but my friend downed it like a pro). We did manage to see one dog during the evening. I'll need to come back here w/ my corgi's so we can take over the joint. I guess this is a place where you can walk in, and if someone asks how you're doing you can say, "it's a dog eat dog world and I'm wearing milk bone underwear".

Norm's is solid but not overwhelming. Food is good, beer selection is good. Trivia once a week - challenging but fun. Dog friendly. Some parking available (shared with Roxy's) otherwise street parking.

The first time I stopped by Norm's was on a friday night around 11p. The place was packed and dogs were not allowed in after 10p so I asked if I could be served on the patio. The door guy said "Sure, go ask the bartender what they can do". The place was completely packed so I ended up just ordeing from the bar and drinking on the front Patio with Babe and chatting up a young chica from California. Yeah Cali girls are the best! The next time I swung by for a cup of soup. The butternut squash soup is the best I've had this season and I hope it's a regular option. So good!!! I'll try the burger next time.

My first time at Norm's was Christmas Eve of last year, and the service was good and the food (cheeseburger and fries) was decent. Happy hour is good as well, although non-happy hour prices are too high given the amount of food you get. I have been to one trivia night, but the trivia style is not my favorite - 4 themed rounds where the theme sometimes dictates whether there is essentially a 10-part single question: when we were there, one round was all about most populated cities in the U.S. - name the top 10 in order. There are a lot of dogs in the restaurant, so if that is a deal breaker (either allergies or inclination), then it is probably not the place for you.

Not being a dog owner myself, I like heading to Norms to live vicariously though others and grab a quick bite when walking about the Fremont area. I headed there with a friend the other day for dinner (on a Monday), and not surprisingly, it wasn't all that crowded. The service, though, was somewhat slow, which was fine since it was a date of sorts, so it gave us time to talk. But why put a label on it, man? So once we got settled menus came over, and then we got some drinks. The food came in a reasonable amount of time and was really great--a nice change from normal boring restaurant fare. Overall the food was good, as was the atmosphere--the service wasn't bad, but it wasn't nearly as polished as it could have been. It's a good thing to know coming in~

We had been wanting to try out Norm's for a long time, but I was concerned about how my dog would handle it, but finally we risked it and went last week. To my delight, Nico (the dog) was very well behaved! The first time we went, we just got some drinks and sat at the bar. I love that they have Moose Drool on tap, and they did their best to make a specialty cocktail even though they didn't have all the ingredients. The bartender was friendly and present and took care of us quickly. The second time we went, which was the next day (!), we were trying to satisfy a wide variety of people - we needed a place that could feed a food snob, a picky no-carb eater, a vegetarian, and a fast food burger man all under one roof, which is Norm's! Everyone ordered a different burger - some beef, some veggie, some turkey, and they were all delicious. And the fries were super tasty too! Everyone of our varied party was very happy with their meal! I can't wait to go back to Norm's and try out more of their menu and just hang out! I'm sure Nico and I will be back soon and often.

Had my first 40 oz. PBR in a paper bag! I'm an official Seattleite. The Freemont area seems like a lot of fun. This local bar allows dogs of any kind. Some cozy couches in the back too for some laid back socializing. Great happy hour too and decent service. I could see myself as a regular here.

Just wanted to add that we meet the First Friday of each month now with various friends and our puppies. We've always had a good time. I've become a moose drool fan. Love the appetizers, but mostly love the staff and people who go to Norms. How cool to have a place where we can bring our dogs with us on our nights out!

Norm's is troubling to me. I like dogs, I like their menu and occasionally I like to drink PBR 40s out of brown paper bags. I DON'T like the people who work there. My last experience was a new low. One of my friends is gluten intolerant and when she asked if Norm's happens to have gluten free beer the server asked, "are you actually allergic or is that the new craze now?" At 10:10 she called last call but was hesitant to tell us what time she was actually closing (11:00, turns out...I wonder if the owners know that she's cutting off the customers so early) and when she brought the check she had added 15% gratuity for having a party of 6. I know that that's standard but we'd actually been a party of 4 until about 3 minutes before she printed the bill. We didn't have food so it's not like she was juggling a difficult table of a lot of people, or even bringing 6 drinks over at once. Whatever. Maybe she sensed that we didn't like her and was afraid she'd get stiffed on the tip. (She wouldn't have - we're fair people.) Beer selection still sucks but they've got (nice) new bathrooms now. I won't rule them out entirely but I'd rather not come here if any other bar in the neighborhood is open.

Could not love this place more! Good food (portabella mushroom burgers = heaven!) and good service, and my furry family member enjoys the atmosphere.

4 Stars because you can bring your dog with you! I came here for trivia once. And once was all it took me to realize that if you're in your 50's you might actually be somewhat decent at the trivia. Our team of 5 came in last place and we won a 40oz PBR. It was kinda fun to split it as we sulked about how poorly we did. I can't vouch for anything else other than it seems like the kind of place where everyone knows your name.

My first bite of a "Basic, Unimaginative, But Damn Good Burger" at Norm's was a defining moment in my life - the only time that I've actually eaten a bite of food an instantly realized it's the greatest thing I've ever tasted. Unfortunately, the quality is a bit inconsistent - sometimes the best burger ever, other times overcooked and nothing special. The fries are peppery but good, and they make their own potato chips as well. Service is generally nice but consistently slow; I think they may just be understaffed. And although our dog is too old and slow to make the walk with us, I love how the unique vibe of the place with all the dog memorabilia and actual dogs hanging out at tables with their owners. On it's best nights, this place deserves a five-star rating, but I'm giving it three for the inconsistency (past few times have been sub-par) and service. Also, this place doesn't usually get too ridiculously crowded on weekends, which is nice. But don't go on Thursday if you don't plan on playing trivia!!!! Trivia night at Norm's is a big event, and every table fills up WAY early.

Norm's Eatery may be one of the absolute BEST places I have been; I wish there were more places like this (especially in Portland, the closest we have is Lucky Lab)! Norm's is the only place I have ever been where dogs are allowed and welcome. We came here for happy hour a few weeks ago and just had a blast; we had a few beers, calamari, and bacon wrapped shrimp. All was good. There were a few other dogs around the pub; they were all very well behaved and got along great with my dogs (who can be a little grouchy in their old age). The dog "vibe", the service, the food, and the beer was great, and next time I am in Seattle I will come here again.

My dog and I are huge fans of Norm's! Their food and service is great and being a dog owner, I like the fact that my dog owning friends and I can go out for happy hour and bring our furry companions along! It's a great, chill, comfy spot worth checking out..their sandwiches, appetizers, and sliders (especially) are tasty! I think it makes my dog's day when a french fry accidentally lands on the floor... he give's Norm's 5 paws!

First off where else can you bring your dog or your friend's dog to get a pint and some pub grub? Not many... plus if you do, check out across the street at Railey's for a treat for your four-legged friend as well, the dog biscuits and treats are adorable and made of human grade products (if you dare). I went to Norm's last Thursday for Trivia Night which is packed, make sure you go there an hour to an hour and half before the 8 p.m. start time to have a space. They actually sell PBR, but only in 40 form! Which comes complete with a paper bag, you have to do it right! I ordered the chili cheese fries which is the highest point of comfort food in my opinion. Unlike other restaurants Norm's specializes in chicken chili which is less greasy and even more delectable. The only other place that I know that has chili this good is Sully's Snow Goose which has my favorite chili in town (turkey chili made from scratch by Sully himself!). We may not have won the trivia tourney that night, but we did indulge in a victorious "thanks for trying" brownie sundae that we split four-ways. That was victory enough for me! Oh, and yeah again for another restaurant that delivers the take home doggy bags in recycled paper products instead of styrofoam, kudos! Another reheatable treat, it was just as good in the morning. A wonderful chili cheese fries breakfast. =).

It's a place that you are supposed to seat yourself. Although there's absolutely no way to know that. You'll figure it out after you stand at the entrance for 5 minutes with no one helping you. When we finally sat down, a woman walked by and threw a couple menus at us without a word. I was ready to go, but my wife and son were super hungry, so we unfortunately stuck it out. The waitress took our order and we waited and waited. Then she comes back and asked me if I was waiting for the check. We hadn't got our food yet and she thought we were done eating. I told her that we were still waiting for the food. When it finally came out we never saw her again until we were done eating. No refill on our empty water and no apology when told her about our experience there.

We always get great service here no matter who is taking care of us. The food is tasty pub fare and always served hot, as ordered and in a timely manner. They keep good beers on tap and rotate them regularly to keep things fresh. Everything is a pretty good value as compared to other nearby restaurants. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because only about half of the things on the menu are up my alley. It's a fun atmosphere, especially on Thursday nights for trivia. A great place to go eat if you want to bring your pup along and just as much fun for those of who don't own a dog and wish we did!

Hey kids, guess what? School's back in session! Not only does working in the U District make this very apparent to me, but the overabundance of douchenozzles, fucktards, and their whiny, tramped-out girlfriends at Norm's made it VERY clear. Ugh. I'd imagine that this could be a cool place during the off season or perhaps lunchtime, but the college kid-tasticness just doesn't do it for me. We managed to nab a table in the nick of time before the surge of croc wearing hipster wannabes arrived. The service we received was sub par, but the food was T-A-S-T-Y! I had a Turkey and Cranberry sandwich... consisting of turkey (duh), cranberry cream cheese, sprouts, and cucumbers. Yum! Served with a side of potato chips, seemingly made in house. The food alone made me want to add one star, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it because of all the asshats. WTF is with serving beer in paper bags!? We're all grown-ups here (or at least I think we are), why is it suddenly cool to drink a 40 from a paper bag?! Or a 40 at all, even?! Besides the crowd, it seems that Norm's could have a pretty decent atmosphere, kinda with a hunting lodge type feel (I was too overstimulated to completely notice, though). I'm too old for this shit.

Kick a$$ place for trivia nights on thursdays!! have been here before but it was a first time for trivia night a couple weeks ago. Dog friendly and love the 40's in paper sacks! The burgers are great and the patrons and staff are ridiculously friendly.

Went here today to with a friend I haven't seen in a while to catch up over drinks and food. This is a nice and laid back spot in Fremont. You can bring your dog too! While I don't have a dog, I enjoyed seeing all of the dogs there. They have such a good happy hour! Pints are $3 (and if you are so inclined, so is a 40oz of PBR) and appetizers are $5. They have a pretty good beer selection so I was happy. With a wide variety of appetizers to choose from, I had a hard time deciding because they all looked so good. I decided on the brie with pears which was served with bread and my friend had the beef sliders. The appetizers were more than enough food to constitute a meal and super delicious! The service was great too. Will definitely be back here again during happy hour.

Don't know how this place is legal, but Lulu, Ollie and I wish there were more like it! Super friendly staff, my favorite Bloody Mary in town and of course, the adorable clientele have made us regulars. If you're a working dog parent that feels a bit guilty lingering over dinner while your puppies are waiting at home, you've got to get to Norm's!

I am so happy I discovered Norm's. I often go up to Seattle for work and sometimes I need to take my dogs along. Norm's allows dogs INSIDE their restaurant. It is so wonderful. Portland is a seriously dog friendly town, but I have yet to find a bar/restaurant that allows dogs inside. This place rocks! I will stop at Norm's whenever I am in town. And they have a great happy hour too ($5 starters). Oh and they were also playing soccer on the tv, which I love!

I was a bit leery the first time. Dogs, really? Must be a mud pit...but was very pleasantly surprised to find Norms to be a giant step above your average whole in the wall in terms of cleanliness and decor, and a few giant steps beyond in the categories of fun and friendly! Norms is the epitome of all that Fremont is known for- unexpected, kooky, community-oriented, and down to earth. As for the food, the baked brie with pear is so divine that we've replicated it many times at home, but still go back for more at their Happy Hour, which happens to be a long one that lasts until 7pm with all apps costing $5. For a big group, and especially when you have underage out of town guests, you can't beat their happy hour for incredible prices and family fun! Oh, and did I mention $3 pints, with a respectable selection of REAL beers?!? Aside from the fact that my dog did indeed snub the real Norm on her birthday (she likes playing hard to get) I can say that we love taking her along and introducing her to new canine friends. Although our good pal Boogie once spilled his....beer....on the floor...we've gathered nothing more than joy from the four legged bar-goers!

OK, I'm doing 3 stars for now, but I'll try to return soon on a different day of the week to get a better feel... I went with a group of friends last night and we walk in, there's no sign saying 'Seat Yourself' or 'Please Wait to Be Seated' so all 7 of us stood around for an awkward 30 seconds or so, then finally went and claim the big booth towards the back. Our server wasn't super attentive to us throughout the night, but it seemed like it was only him and a lady working, so that's OK. It was happy hour and the $5 appetizers enticed me, so I got the calamari, and I also got the Black Butte Porter (happy hour special too, yay) the others in my group got bowl of chips, soup/salad, burger and fries, also calamari, and something else... but they all got different beers as well. My calamari was not good, they used cornmeal I think it said, and so it wasn't crunchy like I"m use to at other places and their sauce that goes with it was not very good. Their bowl o' chips was fabulous, very tasty and reminded me of Tim's chips kinda. Their fries were good too, some were a tad salty, but not a biggie. I didn't realize it was a dog-friendly bar, but it was kind of neat seeing people bring their pets in. Our server was super nice and cool, he took awhile to get our check, but that just gave me time to finish my beer. I'm a very slow drinker. I didn't have a bad experience here, but it wasn't memorable either. Overall, seems like a good place to visit every now and then, especially if I had a dog (which I don't) but I'll try to come back again to give it another shot and see if it can get more stars....

So I went to Norm's expecting the only good thing about them was going to be that we could bring our two dogs with us. To be honest, I was a little worried that it would be sort if ghetto and dirty in there. I was very pleasantly surprised. Not only is the atmosphere good, but it's clean and we were impressed with the food and the beer selection. The waitress we had was super nice. We live in Fremont and I can predict with confidence that we will be frequenting Norm's.

Norm's is a fine little neighborhood bar and grill, and has all of things you'd expect from a fine little neighborhood bar and grill: cold beer, good food, TVs, a trivia night, and a comfortable environment to enjoy these things in varying combinations. But what makes Norm's special is that you can enjoy all of these things with your pooch! I'm not entirely how they get away with allowing dogs in the dining area, but I assume it's a don't-ask-don't-tell, wink-wink-nudge-nudge kind of affair. The dog motif is prevalent throughout the restaurant, but not without taste, featuring portraits, paintings, sculpture, and other adornments of a more artistic nature. The only real exception is in the primary restroom, which includes a poster of puppies taken with a wide angle lens and some cheesy saying like "The best things in life are fuzzy." Even if we couldn't bring our dogs, we'd still visit for the consistently good food and the casual environment. The daily special is called the Dog Bowl, and is a rotating entree that has been appealing fairly frequently, but we usually stick with the burgers and sandwiches. My all-around favorite is the three pepper burger, but the meatloaf sandwich is addictive and the portabello gorgonzola burger is a very good vegetarian option. It can get really crowded, particularly on Thursdays when they host a decent (and winnable) trivia night, which may not be the best for your dog if they're skittish around crowds or small enough to get lost or stepped on in a sea of feet and legs under varying degrees of inebriation. Service can also suffer a bit when it's SRO, but not unforgivably so. I wish there were more bars in the area where it was officially acceptable to bring your dog, but we count ourselves lucky that Norm's not only fits that bill but is a pretty decent place even without the dog-friendly policy. On it's own merit I'd give it a high three, but being able to enjoy a burger and a Manny's with our four-legged family members somewhere other than our own house is easily worth an extra star.

Norms makes me happy and not just because they serve me delicious alcoholic beverages. They have a pretty good beer selection, great Happy Hour specials and I can bring my dog to enjoy Norms and Fremont in all of its glory. The bartenders are easy going, the crowd is chill and everything is really clean- especially for the 15+ dogs that are in there at any given time.

A Fremont bar with laid back atmosphere and friendly patrons? Could it be true? Yes, and bonus if you are a dog lover. Norms is a busy bar with pricey pints and food, as well as an abundance of four legged friends. I try to hit up happy hour (5-7pm), where appetizers are lowered from the $9 range to $5, and beers are $4 instead of $5. The food is really good, and the service friendly if not slow at times. And I get my fix of dog petting with all the friendly patrons. I find I can have a conversation with my friends at a bar that doesn't encourage tequila shots and axe body spray. Good deal for all involved.

The fourth star here is for the mac and cheese which is absolutely fantastic! Have been here a couple of times as it is just a short walk away and great when you are craving comfort food. Your usual bar fare with a great selection of beers and a full bar. Need a snack? Stop in for a big owl of the homemade chips and a beer. Might just not leave you much room for dinner! The Calamari app is pretty good as well and they do have veggie options for their burgers. The Fish and Chips is good...thanks in part to the wasabi tartar...though if you want FC go to the PI around the corner! Oh if you go on Thursday the trivia night is packed...but the questions are brutal! No room here for rank novices! Bring your friends, bring your dog, bring your friends dog to Norms and enjoy!

We went to pub quiz here. The picture round of the pub quiz was: we will show you pictures mountains, and you name the mountain. I was too shy to ask if I had stumbled into some sort of Seattle makes fun of itself day. (We were visiting from out of town and got our tuchuses handed to us in the pub quiz, but we were a little tipsy by the end so we didn't mind one bit.) Oh, and the sliders were really freaking good. And, of course, this is probably the most dog-friendly bar in the entire country.

This was stop #2 on my annual Birthday Bar Walk this year, and it was fun. My sister was SUPER excited (she's an animal lover) and it was pretty fun to hang out amongst the people and their four-legged friends :) All the dogs were very well-behaved and the place was packed at 3 in the afternoon on a Saturday! I didn't try the food, but the beer was well-received by friends (I think the IPA) and my husband & I really liked our 'Summer Solstice' drinks. Norms is a fun and friendly place- I will be borrowing my friend's dog and going back :)

Yep, there's dogs. Dog decor, dog murals on the walls, and actual canines everywhere. Welcome to dog world. Dog dog dog. So there's that. I happen to love dogs passionately, so I really enjoy the ambiance. Not all of my friends love dogs however, so that's something to consider when you want to bring a group. The service was fine. I enjoyed the warm and gooey brie, but there weren't enough crackers to go with it. The hummus plate was good, as usual. The spicy wings were excellent. We had some little sliders that were really good as well. Decent happy hour grub. Good beer. I've been to Norm's a few times. It's close to my work, and central to many of my friends. I'd go back, if invited. But it's not the first place on my list of favorites. It gets really crowded and hard to hear in there, which is a bit of an annoyance. Bad, bad accoustics. But a good happy hour place... Oh yeah, one more thing - it's nice to have a happy hour place that you can bring your kids to, where you can chit chat with your friends over snacks and beer in a cozy booth. I have a 9-year-old and a 14-year-old that sometimes have to come with us everywhere. So cheers to that.

YOU can bring your Dog to the bar! how cool is that?? I brought my little yorkie there and I absolutely loved it! 40's of PBR in a paper bag, dog friendly, and trivia night? Thats what we around here call an effin' JACKPOT. The dog themed decor is a little overboard if you ask me, but the place is still cool and was the first officially dog friendly bar I found out about in the area, so they gets bonus awesome points for that.

the service was quick and good, and the food portions were pretty awesome. we went in a group of 4 on a friday late afternoon/early evening to catch the 4-7 happy hour. $3 beers and $5 apps. we had to wait about 10 minutes for seating, but it was worth it. the food was delicious, and really filled us up. my husband and i shared an order of wings, a burger, and a beer..and we were both stuffed and didn't need to eat the rest of the night. and of course, my doggies enjoyed the lovin' from other customers!

I was really excited to find this place on Yelp, as I've been looking for a dog-friendly hangout spot so my exchange student friends can spend time with my dog [they love her]. Norm's was an obvious choice, as the dog theme is apparent throughout the restaurant. Zelda, my miniature dachshund, doesn't get to socialize much with other dogs [there isn't much foot traffic in our neighborhood] so we decided it would be best to go at an off-time -- we arrived right as they were opening at 11am. Yummy fries and a yummier burger -- I had the Three Pepper Burger, which was amazing because they actually have high enough quality meat to serve it rare! The fries were seasoned with salt and pepper and were thin and cooked to the perfect consistency. I also had the Key Lime Pie drink which was super delicious. Zelda loved being able to sit in a booth with me and rest her head on my lap. She also loved the bites of burger patty I snuck her. A great place to cool down or just relax with your puppy, I look forward to returning to Norm's for trivia!

A few years ago you could regularly see me and Fergus (dog) hitting Norm's on a Thursday for trivia. Steve, the owner, does a great job coming up with unique trivia questions and keeps it moving so you aren't sitting there for hours and hours. My regular order (once they stopped serving their delicious pork chops) . . . a delicious Bacon and Avocado Burger (rare of course) and a Hales Cream Ale. Now a days you'll find us there on a Sunday morning sipping $4.00 mimosas (me) and eating wheat toast (Fergus). All and all Norm's is just a great, down to earth, restaurant/bar with a lot to offer Seattlites. Especially Seattlites with dogs.

It was getting late and we were in the area. We couldn't decide on what to eat and randomly picked this spot. After awhile, I started to wonder why there were dogs all over the place. I later on learned that this was a dog-friendly joint. I had some mac 'n cheese=comfort food, to say the least. I wasn't disappointed esp. with how large the serving was. The service was excellent. We were the only non-dog owners there so it felt a bit strange but I still had a good meal.

Norm's is pretty dope. During the day it's a casual bar that lets patrons bring their ass-ugly poodles and mutts inside while you can eat some pretty decent food and get some drinks. The interior nice and spacious, including some large couches for you to kick back on while you shoot the shit with your friends. Come nighttime this bar gets pretty crackin, and packed. Drinks are average, but the patrons that come are smokin'... Fun times to be had, come early to get the couches, and order up five 40's of PBR.

Norm's has become my go-to drinking spot. I just moved in a block away, and since I'm not going to be consistenly drinking at The Ballroom any time soon, Norm's wins by default. Default, the two greatest words in the English language. Norm's has good food, nothing mindblowing, but you know what? Sometimes I don't NEED my mind blown. Sometimes I just need a reliable bacon avacado cheeseburger or a well-crafted turkey sandwich. They could stand to lower the prices like a buck or two for each item, though. But that's just the sheisty gypsy in me, always looking for deal. But lest we forget the real reason we all go to Norm's: You can bring your dog(s) with you! Sure, the hygiene of the food is lowered a tad when there are dirty mutts everywhere, jumping on the furniture, but as dog owners we all probably stopped caring about that kind of stuff long ago anyway. Evidently, the owner figured out a little loophole in the state health regulations (or something) regarding that very issue; the staff just assumes every dog that walks through the door is a 'service' dog here to aid and assist and save lives and search through rubble, and the least we can do for these brave little heroes is let them hang out while their families eat food and get drunk. One look at my dog and you'll know that if you were buried under a collapsed building, you are shit out of luck. She will wander away and try to find food while you suffocate under a slab of concrete. But my dog's lack of bravery aside, Norm's is great. The staff is rad. Everybody there is cool as fuck. There is one waitress/bartender who looks Ukrainian or something, she's sexy. What's with the Pabst 40 oz. for six dollars though? I can walk a half a block to the bodega and get one for a buck and change. Is it the giddy little thrill nerds get when they drink forties? And IN a bar? OMG dude that is so lolz blah. Get the fuck outta here. Forties are meant to be drank in public parks and on benches, and for pocket change. But that's a minor annoyance. Besides that, Norm's has a nice beer list. They could use at least one cheap beer on tap though. All their drafts are fancy shmancy Elysian Snow Drift Moose Horn Lagers and whatnots. Which I like, but I'd also like just the option to drink cheap pints if the mood (or current financial status) should strike. Bottles just don't go far enough. But again, not too big a deal. Another charming thing Norm's does is their little Mariners promotions. It used to be 'Cheap Sex-on Mondays', which was bottles of Budweiser and Bud Light for the price of Richie Sexson's batting average, which was always abysmally low. You could get bottles of beer for like a buck! Since Richie's now gone and forgotten, it has now become 'Hit Below the Belt-re' Tuesdays (and Wednesdays too, I think), which, as you might assume, is the same deal but this time for Adrian Beltre's BA. Right now bottles would be about two bucks, but give him time, it will probably get cheaper. Mariners hit a five-game skid? Commiserate at Norm's and save! So as I mentioned, the bacon avacado cheeseburger is where it's at. And I have them throw together a tasty turkey sandwich, with swiss, lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, sprouts and avacado (not on the menu...I call it 'The Justin') which they always happily do, 'cause they are good people. Why, just this morning I had the Poppy's? Pally's? Polly's? I think it was 'The Polly's Scramble', which was ham and avacado (I like avacado a little bit) and green peppers (I think) all mixed in scrambled eggs with toast and fruit and such. My mama had 'The Veggie Scramble' (spinach, feta, roasted red peppers, she added avacado...the apple doesn't fall far from the tree). Both were eaten with much haste and much joy. And we both had our dogs with us! It made for a very enjoyable Saturday morning with my dear mother. Thanks, Norm's!

I have officially been to Norm's for all times off the day, so now I consider my self an expert on the place. Breakfast: I must say, it's a decent breakfast for a neighborhood bar. But only decent. There's no wait for a table, which is nice compared to the bfast hot spots in Seattle where you have to wait a good hour to be seated. The menu is short, but they have the a variety of dishes- omelets, biscuits and gravy, frittata, hashes. Lunch/Dinner: I was impressed impressed by dinner! I had a chicken sandwich (no bread) with caramelized onions and some other stuff I actually forget). I do remember it being very delicious. Even the potato chips and coleslaw were great. Nighttime : Norm's gets very crowded and a bit frat-boyish on a Friday/Saturday night. However, it's still a hallmark place to stop in at some point in the evening for a ice cold 40. Overall, Norm's is a reliable spot for a casual breakfast, dinner or drink with friends. The bartenders and waiters do their job well. Good ole Norm's!

Doggie! Doggie! Doggie! Waaaawwwwrrrwaaaaah. Hee. I luf luv love seeing all the cute doggies in this bar. What did you say? Dogs? Yeah, dogs are allowed in this bar. Named after the owner's dog Norm, I saw a rare appearance of said doggie. But he was too fast for me and I didn't snap a pic. Thursdays are trivia night with four rounds. You may not have more than 6 to a team. There were 10 of us and they split us into two teams. My friend says they came up with that rule after her extremely large team won one week. I had the meatloaf sandwich which I had with the 1000 Island dressing on the side (it didn't need it). The fries were pretty good. I also got this salad with a lot of fried shallots on it. Mm, yum! Jameson and gingers were decent. This is a great neighborhood joint.

I love the casual atmosphere at Norm's. If you're a dog person, it's fun to see all the dogs hanging out. I always end up talking to someone when I'm there, because people love to talk about their dogs. I don't have one, so I go to enjoy other peoples'. :) Besides the dogs, their food is yummy! They have a nice vegetarian burger option too. Mmmm, portabella!

I don' t have a dog, but I love playing with and petting and talking in the "i wuv you doggy woggy" voice to other people's dogs. You get to do that at Norm's. I just went for happy hour with a friend and was impressed. We had two appetizers and two beers for $16. The hummus platter was fantastic, with the hummus obviously homemade. We also had the brie and pear platter, which came with a generous portion of brie and bread. Happy Hour is from 4-7 everyday and I think they have a morning HH on the weekends. Also, they serve breakfast until 2 pm on weekends, which is a brilliant idea. Draft beer is $3 during HH, a huge discount from the $5 regular. All apppetizers are $5 during HH also, another large discount, as some of them are around $10 regular. I would like it if they changed their beer on tap. I've been here a few times and it's always pretty much the same, even if the ones they have are tasty. (I love me some Moose Drool) The service was prompt and friendly. I also really enjoy the seating arrangements. You can come with a pal or 5 and they have a spot for you. It was pretty busy during happy hour, which is a testament to the good food at good prices. A great choice in the 'downtown' part of Fremont.

I will remember the Gorgonzola portobello burger I had this weekend at norm's for the rest of my life. As a fake vegetarian [pescatarian, but can't bring myself to say that word out loud and can barely even type it because it's so la-la], I rarely experience mouth nirvana. But I'm pretty sure I did this Saturday. I bit into seared portobello, crumbly melty gorgonzola and surprise of suprises, a non-hard veggie patty and thought my mouth had hit pay dirt. I almost felt a little dirty, this burger was so good. The service was as good as could be expected when the place is packed full of drunken oktoberfest goers, and there was at least one dog, which isn't my thing, but hey--I'd even suffer my neighbors' yip-yip minis to enjoy another one of these burgers.

Norm's doesn't try to be anything more than what it is: a casual, relaxed, neighborhood bar atmosphere with decent food and great beer. Totally unpretentious, not pretending to be anything that it's not. A place to grub and imbibe. Who really cares if it's cool or not to do the brown bag pbr thing, seattle really needs to stop taking itself so seriously. I personally don't give a crap anymore about what is cool or not, I still enjoy drinking beer out of a brown paper bag in public and not have to worry about getting arrested like when I was a teenager drinking in the bushes at Cowen Park. I guess it's different when you have that to compare it to. I digress... I've never been here on a weekend night and don't understand why anyone would want to. I imagine the scene can be totally different. Perhaps that is when the aforementioned college scene comes out. I personally am well past the college scene so I steer clear of Fremont on weekends. Besides, the happy hours during the week are great. I guess I've never really experienced anything here other than a fun relaxing time with friends. Oh yeah, and the Sunday brunches are great too. I will go back, many many times. Norm's rulz. (Yes, I said 'rulz'). Damn, now I want wings and a prb 40.....

    5. You can bring your dog 4. They have trivia night 3. They have $5 happy hour apps 2. Bartenders/and/owner are uber nice and pour mean and hard 1. They have PBR in 40's, in brown paper bags Arriving early, even for the pre-funk standard- I sat leisurely nursing a beer and enjoying the appetizers and taking in the place. Heavy regular rotation, everyone knew everyone and was super nice. I had the warmed brie and pears and the salmon cakes. Both were fabulous, although I agree w/ Nina, a little more bread and maybe a bit less oil on the brie. Once the Yelpers starting arriving, it only got more fun. Kicking it up to a rum and coke was the right choice, i was a sheet and a half to the wind before even making it to the Yelp event. It was great seeing so many people at the pre-funk, because honestly, I probably would have missed meeting some of you had it waited until the Ballroom. Highlights definitely include meeting Nina and Wendy, seeing my sexy trailer park mama MMAD, and for absolute BEST spontaneous uttering EVER, the prize goes Rebecca L for: Wait, Don's only Thirty-(let's just say it's bigger than 8, less than 10)??? I thought he was WAAAY older than that!!! Norm's is definitely on my 'return' list and I will pre-funk it here before any other later event in the area fo'sure!

Checked this place out on a Saturday night after Thanksgiving. I was surprised by the amount of people, it wasn't packed, but it was full. Nice, chill atmosphere - not cigar and whiskey chill, but straight PBR-forties-in brownbag-chillin'. The last time I saw so many forties was in a Dr. Dre video. This night I didn't eat there, but i have in the past and it was fine - no complaints. Drinks could have been stronger. Staff was kind and helpful. As mentioned people bring their dogs which is cool if you're a dog owner. I'm not, but who doesn't like dogs?

Dogs! Pups! Ok so I can see how if you didn't like dogs then this place might be annoying. I however, like to live vicariously through the dog owners of Fremont. Beer selection and food is pretty decent too. I do not like this place as much after about 11pm. Seems to turn a little more frat-ish (capitalizing on paper bagged 40s) and a little less pup and neighborhood centered. They have trivia nights which is fun. If you don't like Norms then you can just go home to your indifferent cat and drink some wine.

We needed some doggie love after losing our old girl a few weeks ago, and this place did the trick. Lots of happy critters wanting a pat and a treat. Add good service, decent beer selection, and veggie sliders that were A-W-E-S-O-M-E, and we were as happy as the doggies. Trivia night is hard-core but really fun.

I love this place! I love my dog and I really like that I can bring him here whether it is we're looking for a place to have lunch or a place to have a drink. I will admit that my dog is like my child right now. We had a "doggy" birthday for him at Norms last year. The staff was great and treated our group as if we were having a birthday for a child. Drinks were good, appetizers were good, service was great even with a large group!

I heard about this place through Yelp and friends with dogs so I HAD to check it out with my dog! This place is very dog friendly! The staff was very nice to my dog. They have tables and booths... I grabbed a booth since it looks more comfortable and the couch in the back was taken. My dog sat/laying down until the table and people watched. I thought it was a quiet night since none of the dogs were barking. The dogs were either sitting or laying down by their owners. The dogs looked relaxed. There were a couple dogs that actually played with each other but they were on the ground. The food is okay- its a typical bar type of food! I just enjoyed the experience and being able to bring my dog along. We will be back!

Lots of seating, beer selection is decent, food is okay, but there is tons of dogs and everything is affordable, so what can you not like? The service is also very solid, bartenders are typically great. The Chone Gettin' Figgy With it deal (2$ windmer pints all day long) was pretty much the greatest deal in the history of deals, hopefully it comes back again next season.
