We were satisfied with the food we ordered except the one that the restaurant manager introduced to us. We wanted a live Rock Cod while she said its no good but a bass would be Better. We accepted her recommendation. After tasting the fish, we could tell the bass was a dead fish not a live fish. We supposed to order a live Rock Cod which cost $36 but why she introduced us a dead bass with $38? The answer is clear!!! We are picky on food. The other food we ordered like oxtail, mustard green, and jar soup are really good! The chicken with salt and ginger was so so ( I mean no chicken taste, maybe it is not pastured poultry). If the restaurant manager hadn't have cheated on us, I would give them more stars.

Terrible. The food is worse than most other places in Seattle. Staff lacks courtesy.

One of the worst Chinese food places in Seattle. We ordered two soups and four main courses (pork, chicken, fish and shrimp) and six out of six was bad. Our whole table who are all foodies and very used to eating Chinese food unanimously disliked the dishes and had a very disappointing dinner as a result. To add insult to injury, the staff is discourteous and showed no hospitality to all customers.

Liked the food. Not the best but decent. Then why leaving a negative review? It's the horrendous business ethics and integrity. Among other dishes, we ordered a jumbo 3+ lb dungeness crab, which was freshly picked up from the tank upfront. When it was served, the plate came with an clean but empty big shell in a similar size, no belly meat/stuff whatsoever, and then 5 legs. Guess what, last time I checked, all crabs, including the one I picked have 8 legs. Just imagine how big serving size 3 legs of a 3+ lb crab can be. And it was gone. Including everything disappeared from the body, we eatimated that 40% of the crab we picked from the tank disappeared. When we went to Vancouver BC for a 2lb dungeness crab feast a few month earkier, we got what we paid for - a big plate full of meat from the same crab! I am sure that New Star serves decently cooked Chinese food. I am NOT going again for such low practice!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheaters! I would give a minus one star if Yelp let me to.

Ok New Star, you have redeemed yourself 2 years later. My prior visit, I didn't really care much for your food. This time around we had a 10 course meal for our large party of 30. What I don't care for is the fact they serve the entrees one-by-one. Just serve all the entrees already! What you don't know is that you get the good stuff at the end. We had so many options and I was done by entree 3-4. My eyes were bigger than my stomach and I engorged myself since I was starved. By entree 8, it was getting to the seafood portion and by entree 10, it was whole crab. WHAT?! The food was decent and the service was good (given our party). This seems to be my relatives' go-to place for party or special occasion food. I'm down to go again on our next visit in 2 years :)

Yesterday we went to New Star as the first restaurant out of 89 to try in the ID following the path of msg150.com . The signage is unremarkable and the ambiance is too which is most likely why we have passed it on many occasions and not stopped by. But, now after trying I am glad we did. For the value it was pretty good! (This is why I am giving it 4 stars instead of 3) We got the 2 person family dinner for $34. This included two egg rolls- bleh, a choice of soup-we got egg drop but next time will get hot and sour, Mongolian beef- good w a tiny kick, chicken lo mein- my favorite, chicken fried rice- good but needed some soy sauce and sweet and sour shrimp- which was really FRESH and tasty. This was enough food for dinner last night and tonight too! Perfecto! All in all pretty good Americanized Chinese food! Oh, we also got a scallion pancake. (skip that.)

Ok, so I never write reviews but I HAD TO for this place. My parents I came here to eat some good standard food. Honestly the food was average/below average and the prices were pretty high. But what really through the whole dinner down was the fact that they charged us $15 dollars for the added plain noodles to our crab dish, that was already 60+ dollars. People who are thinking of coming here... seriously don't, the food and service isn't that great and the prices are way to high for what it is.

When I moved to Seattle a year ago, I set a goal - to find the best restaurant in ever cuisine category. When it came to Asian cuisine, there are MANY options in Seattle. I stumbled on New Star by accident when a friend from out of two said she wanted Chinese food. We took a stroll around Chinatown and decided to give New Star a try. When we first walked in, we were greeted and seated promptly with menus, ice water and fresh hot tea in close pursuit. The variety on the menu was surprising. Everything from Mongolian Beef to Geoduck was available. We settled on one of the four "family dinner" options. For $32 we received soup, appetizers and several generous plates of different foods. There was so much in fact that we had to have some boxed up to go! Our bill was under $40 for two. That's a good value in my opinion. I hope you enjoy New Star Restaurant as much as I did!

It was my first time to try the lobster and yee-mien and I absolutely loved it! Lobster was huge and fresh, noodle absorbed the flavor very well. Also had steamed chicken with ginger sauce and dry string beans, and all dishes have balanced and delicate flavor and come in good portion for the price. The owner and waitresses are super friendly and hospitable.

Fishy smell and taste in soup No specialty in taste and inconsistence taste in different dishes. Plates tend to be salty and oily. The upside is free parking in Chinatown.

It saddens me to have to downgrade my rating for this restaurant. Service was good, but on our most recent visit, their food just was not done right. Our shrimp and egg over wide rice noodles were inedible... the shrimp was powdery = not fresh. They swapped that dish out for us and gave us a fried rice instead. However, the BBQ pork used in both the fried rice and another stir-fried noodle dish did not taste fresh (and were a bit rancid.) 1 star. However, the sweet and sour fish was pretty good. They also threw in some complimentary sweet potato tapioca dessert soup and sliced oranges as well. 4 stars.

I went to this restaurant on Chinese New Year in 2014. I was responsible in managing the reservation for 20 people in my group. I came back to this restaurant because I also had Chinese New Year dinner with my friends last year in 2013. So the 20 of us sit in 2 different table, 11 on my table and 9 on the other table. We order about 8 dishes. Two of the dishes (tofu and fried calamari) were way too salty to the point where it cannot be eaten. I mentioned this to the server but she just acknowledged and have no intention of giving us a replacement. But here's the worse part. When we get the check for our table, the total comes to $231 which includes 18% automatic gratuity added to it. So if we divided per individual, it comes down to $21 per person. We used 5 credit cards, I personally pay for 5 persons, my 2 other friends pay for 2 persons each and the last 2 person pay individually. When the credit receipt come, my total comes to $108.25 (which comes down to $21.65 per person). The other credit cards that pay for 2 person were charged $43.30 ($21.65 / person) and the individual payer credit card also being charged $21.65. I asked my waiter/cashier why I'm being charged $108.25 instead of $105. The cashier mentioned that there is a 65 cents credit card fee per card (no such sign anywhere in the restaurant about this). I was astounded, I paid by credit card for over $100 and there's a credit card fee? I can understand if the charge is less than $5 (as many small stores employ this policy). Then I mentioned if the credit card fee is 65 cent then why when I paid for 5 people, I'm being charged an extra $3.25 for credit card fee instead of 65 cents where I only use 1 card. She acknowledged and refunded me $2.60 in cash. I could have argue to try getting all the credit card fee back but it's not worth my time to argue for additional 65 cents. If the cashier said that more card means it will take them more time to run your payment, does the 18% automatic gratuity should cover that? sometimes It's not all about the money, it's how you feel cheated by the restaurant trying to nickel dime you. After this experience, I will definitely won't be coming back to this restaurant again. Shame on them!

We went on a Friday night at around 7:30pm. When we called they said we didn't need a reservation. At first that was a bad sign, considering the state of asian restaurants in Seattle I thought we were in for some very mediocre (or food that is just asian inspired + 10 teaspoons of sugar) but we were pleasantly surprised! The food was very good! They served us super fast. There was parking. It was just a great experience all round. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's as good as the Chinese seafood restaurants north of the border but it's at least in the same league.

Best seafood ever! They have all kinds of fresh seafood you can imagine. Must try the king crabs and you will never regret! Slightly seasoned so that you can actually taste the good of the crab. One of the must things to do in Seattle!!!

After the Mariners game, we came here for dinner...not exactly by choice since we had actually wanted to try Red Lantern that was next door, but unfortunately Red Lantern was closed and so hubby decided to come into this place since we didn't want to walk around considering we had 2 hungry kiddos. The place was not packed for a Sunday late afternoon. We weren't sure what to order and so we just did the Family dinner meal "C". The meal consisted with 2 bowls of soup (we chose the hot and sour soup), BBQ Pork, Mongolian Beef, Honey Walnut Prawns, House Lo Mein, and your choice of fried rice (chicken or shrimp), and ordered a side of scallion pancakes. Overall, the meal was really disappointing. No flavor whatsoever. The Mongolian Beef had the "ingredients", but the beef was pretty tough to chew. The rest of the order just didn't have flavor. It felt like they were throwing stuff together. The hot and sour soup was good. I actually enjoyed it. As for the scallion pancakes...I had better. This kind, it didn't have the "flakiness" and layers that you would see if you had actual authentic scallion pancakes. This texture was more of a roti, plus they didn't even serve any hot sauce mixture...and so we had to ask for some hot sauce and mix it ourselves. I wouldn't even bother with the BBQ Pork, it was extremely dry. the meal ended up to be $45 with tax...totally not worth it. We were even debating if we should take our leftovers home since we had a lot, but I told my husband to bring it since I'm sure we can add some more ingredients to make it more flavorful. I don't think we will bother going back. It was just a waste of money.

Was craving some steamed fish so my friend and I thought we'd try this place. It ended up being quite good. We ordered the steamed fish special and the house special tofu which ended up being delicious. The tofu was fried on outside but super silky and soft inside (apparently it was Japanese style). The flavor of brown sauce was perfect...not greasy and not over-salted. The fish was cooked well and topped with ginger and soy sauce. The prices were a little higher than average but it also tasted and felt healthier than other cheaper restaurants. It's a place I think my parents would approve so that gives new star a point.

Another great family style Chinese restaurant. Sitting at the round tables are the best because of the spinning table top which lets the food circle around. None of that "passing the food" to each other and interrupting people's dining experience. At the end of the meal they give orange slices and of course fortune cookies. It's great for large groups. Not so much the single person on a lunch run, unless you order from the lunch special menu.

I finally went to New Star Seafood today for lunch. I've really been wanting to try it out, but considering Red Lantern is next door, it's been difficult to make the choice to go somewhere else. I ordered the Malaysian style fried flat noodles with no pork, which is basically just Singapore noodles but with flat noodles instead of vermicelli. It wasn't very spicy as the pepper on the menu was said to indicate, but I really liked the curry flavor and the shrimp. The egg noodle soup that came with it was also pretty good and I liked that it didn't taste just like chicken broth and it didn't have syrup flavor. The prices here are higher than what I usually pay for lunch specials in the ID (ranging from $7.95 to $8.95) but the portions are HUGE. I can probably make two more meals out of my lunch. Next time, I'll probably split one. Service here is the only thing lacking. The server was really not friendly at all. She didn't check in with us on how our food was, and we sat around for fifteen minutes before anyone took our order. I also noticed every other table received orange slices for dessert except for us. I'll definitely be back for the delicious value, but maybe I'll try takeout next time.

My best restaurant in Seattle. There is free parking right next door. In downtown wow!!! Once you get in, the restaurant was clean and the service was great. The food here is excellent. Quantity and quality was just right. I was full and satisfied when I walked out. I'll definitely come back next time.

Thanks to New Star, I have sworn off Chinese food in Seattle. To start, we ordered some sort of deep friend crab thing. It was atrocious--clearly not made fresh and tasted like imitation crab. The fish in the seafood chow mein was one of the worst things I have ever had in my mouth--it literally made me gag. Six months later, the thought of the muddy taste and mealy texture makes me shudder. Between three people, we ordered three dishes, and I feel bad about the amount of food we left behind. Two stars because the waitress was nice and I didn't actually get sick from eating here.

Came here for dinner tonight with the family and I was pleasantly surprised by how quick the food service was. The food was served within about 5 minutes after we ordered and we had all of our menu items in about 15 minutes. We had a total of about ten different dishes served in that time. Very quick if you're hungry. The quality was good also as I haven't been here for quite sometime. We had ordered the usual combination dinner where everything is pre-chosen on a menu. Great if you have a big group. I would be coming here again!

Eh, I've had better Chinese food. (In a dumpster in the alley of Chinatown!) HAHA, I kidd. Or am I? 1. The food is alright. Honestly, I've had better. They get one star for attempting to please me with their mediocre food. 2. The bathrooms were pretty and clean! That's HALF A STAR! 3. The restaurant looked nice on the inside! Oh there's the other half of the star... So all together we have... 2 stars! YAY. Okay yeah. No. They add the tip to the bill. WHAT IF I DON'T WANNA TIP YOU ASSHOLES!? HAHA, just kidding..again. But seriously, if they do that I guess some people didn't pay tip in the past.. tsk tsk. WHAT KINDA TERRIBLE PEOPLE ARE YOU GUYS TO NOT PAY TIP!?

One of the better Seafood Chinese Restaurant in China Town. The only one that has the best parking right next to the Restaurant starting at 5pm. I drove the Big SUV so this was a no brainer to come here because parking sucks in the ID. Smaller size restaurant but still great for family dinners with lazy susans. The service is hit & miss but the main thing is the menu does not have MSG. I HATE MSG! They use more garlic, seasoning, sauces, and chili peppers to add more flavor to the dishes. I come here for the lobster, crab, and fish period. I also like their pre-set menu because it has almost everything that my family wants and make it easy for me to ordered without worrying about if I miss a dish for them. Ordered: *Fish maw, Crab & Egg Soup yelp.com/biz_photos/in8j… *Sauteed Garlic Green Beans with Pork yelp.com/biz_photos/in8j… *Soft Tofu with Mushrooms & Veggies yelp.com/biz_photos/in8j… *Honey Walnut Pork Chops yelp.com/biz_photos/in8j… *Sauteed Veggies yelp.com/biz_photos/in8j… *House Special Chow Mein with Crispy Noodles yelp.com/biz_photos/in8j… *Roasted Chicken with Shrimp Chips yelp.com/biz_photos/in8j… *Salt & Pepper Crab yelp.com/biz_photos/in8j… *Salt & Pepper Flounder Fish Fillet yelp.com/biz_photos/in8j… *Taro Coconut Tapioca Dessert yelp.com/biz_photos/in8j… STAR DISHES goes to: SALT & PEPPER CRAB - Fun to eat, nibbling on the outside fried portion of the crab with the kick of peppers, spices and fried garlic than cracking the shell to eat the moist tasty crab meat. SALT & PEPPER FLOUNDER FISH FILLET - Just delicious, like eating asian style fried fish & chips but without the chips. Love the generous portion fried garlic just don't smell my breath. LOL HONEY WALNUT PORK CHOPS - Fantastic, sweet & savory combine well together with the crispy pieces of pork. Recommended.

Excellent food, great service, fast and affordable. Mongolian beef is the best I've ever had. Every dish we had from the dinner for two option A had some of the best flavor we've had at a Chinese restaurant.

My friend and I were here last night to try out this place (again for me) since I came here pretty often years ago. The last time I was here with family was years ago and we always enjoyed this place! It seems like this place got slightly more pricey. I dont remember its price averaged around $13 - $15 per dish. Maybe its just the dinner menu that is generally more expensive than lunch. My friends and I ordered the "individual dinner" options and it was rather okay. I have to say that I have had better Chinese food in other restaurants in Chinatown. If I want to come back here again, I will probably stick with its individual dishes rather than the "individual dinner" combo dinner option. The food is served very quickly as they are not too crowded. They have some daily special items, as well. The lady (owner?) who has been in this restaurant for years are always very nice and friendly!

They're one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area. There's parking which is a plus. The waitresses are friendly. They can get pretty busy during the holidays, but food usually comes out at a reasonable time. There's a lot to choose from and the price is decent.

Let me start by saying that I'm from San Francisco and visit Chinatown in San Francisco regularly. VERY DISAPPOINTED in what they call Chinatown in Seattle.. The International district was very deserted when we went there on a Sunday afternoon. We walked around the area trying to find a place to eat and I found this place on YELP. The restaurant was deserted and we got a table in the back and ordered a preset meal for 2. The food was just ok and expensive. We had left overs and made snacks for the rest of the day. Our Menu: Egg Drop Soup, Fried Rice, Grilled Pork, Mongolian Beef, Honey Walnut Prawns, and lo-mein. Sorry to continue ragging on their Chinatown, but there is no YELP for the area itself. The shops and the food markets were nothing like we have at home; all they had were Chinese Restaurants. We did find an Asian Heritage Museum and a small store where we bought some novelty items, but overall DISAPPOINTMENT.

We went here on a chowhound recommendation for their Chinese-style seafood, and it was spot on! Last night, we had live prawns (flash cooked) which were juicy, fresh and super tender! We also had ginger scallion dungeness and salt / pepper fried dungeness - it was messy goodness! Their other food items were just ok - green bean chicken was overly salty, sizzling rice soup kind of bland, but we got free coconut tapioca dessert at the end. Prices were a little higher than what I'm used to in California, but for the quality of the seafood experience, it's way better and cheaper than going to something like the Crab Pot.

Me and the uncle met up here for work lunch. I got the stir fried beef with onion and ginger... I think it's like beef chow fun, is, was, yeah. The tea was ok; uncle didn't like it. The 2 screens simulating a fish tank in the back are pretty neat.

Best BBQ Pork fried rice ever! EVER!!!!!!!!!! I used to work in the International District and would treat myself to dinner at New Star anytime I was working late. Needless to say, I have tried several items on their menu, but the absolute star of this place is the bbq pork fried rice. Not too many veggies, plenty of meat, and scrambled egg make for the perfect rice. They lightly fry the rice so it is not very greasy. Add in 1/2 roasted chicken and take it to go and you will have 2-3 days of lunch and dinner goodness.

It's been years since I've had Chinese takeout. We always seem to veer toward Vietnamese or Thai cuisine, but I was craving chow mein like a mofo. This place really surprised me. My expectation was greasy noodles with some diced bits of unidentifiable meats and some veggies sprinkled in. What I got was the house special chow mein full of large, juicy pieces of shrimp, pork, chicken, calamari, crispy vegetables, and not overly saucy or salty noodles. It was incredible! The fried rice was also a nice surprise--nice, smoky flavor, not too greasy. The chow mein ended up serving as leftovers--4 times. So 5 meals for the price of one...and it was really good! Definitely going back when the craving strikes and the fridge is empty!

We came to order take outs per recommendation of the local relatives during our visit. Our first impression was the higher prices (compare to the SFO Bay area). The place was pretty empty on the Thursday evening, while we waited for our food we were served with hot tea and the dining area is kept pretty clean. We ordered many of the standard dishes, walnut prawns, fish, tofu and vege, beef chow fan, salt and pepper pork chop, chicken with string beans, 2 vegetable dishs and house special noodles. Everything was good but not great, portion size seem to vary (the walnut prawns were smaller compare to other dishes). Overall it was OK, a little on the expensive side for what we got.

it's a lil pricier than some of the other chinese restaurants in chinatown but it's my go to spot when i want chinese food. i've never had a bad dish here and the wait staff is super friendly. the other part that makes them standout is that the have PARKING!!! park in the lot next to the restaurant along the wall and remember your license and stall number. once you're inside you jot down the info and they'll usually give you a menu to stick inside your car to be on the safe side since it's a shared paid parking lot. boom, good food and free parking!

This is the best chinese restaurant in Seattle! Their $7.95 lunch special comes with the best hot and sour soup and the entree portions are HUGE! The menu has a huge selection. My favorite is the hunan chicken and fried rice

Closest to Cantonese I can find in Seattle. Food was very hit or miss: General Tsao's - 5 stars Fried Rice - 4 stars Honey Prawns - 3 stars Potstickers - 2 stars Egg Rolls - 1 star The General Tsao's was really, really good and the fried rice definitely better than most we've tried in Seattle, but the $70 (to go, so no drinks, lower tip, etc) price tag was a bit hard to swallow.

Even though it's been three weeks since I ate here I am compelled to write a review since the food has managed to invade both my dreams and waking life. Why don't all restaurants serve their dishes on giant lazy Susan's? There is something so totally entertaining about spinning your food in circles. But back to the meat of the matter, or rather the seafood. After a lovely wedding the small party gathered at New Star for the banquet dinner. The sheer memory of the dishes brings a tear to this jaded eater's eye. The shrimp with walnuts was so exquisite I thought that if this were my last meal on earth I wouldn't beg for reincarnation. The hits just kept on coming, whole cod with ginger and vegetables, succulent and tender, the flavor of the fish coming through the spices, deep fried crab that had me spinning the susan again and again, back to it's garlicky splendor. I admit it, I ate too much. I came in a medium and left a large but it was worth every fat second..

Kung Hei Fa Choi!!! or however else you want to spell it. Happy Chinese New Year, and what better way to celebrate the year of the Ox then get some Chinese food right? Anyway our group decided rather than our typical place Sea Garden (which is delicious by the way). We wanted to check out New Star. We haven't been there in possibly years, it was always a good place, and most importantly they were the only restaurant I recall around the area that usually has my FAVORITE dessert without having to special order it for a banquet...Tapioca in warm sweet coconut milk. Even though most Chinese typically celebrate Chinese New Year on the Eve, the place was still packed. Most tables were reserved, and we were quite lucky to find a table for six without any wait (probably just good timing). Okay let me get the only thing remotely unpleasant out of the way. Service was a bit slow. But they probably had about 25-30 tables to serve with only 3 people. And man were those ladies busting their ass handling every table. I couldn't even imagine the craziness in the kitchen, yet all our food still came to us in the typical "7 minutes flat" that you expect from most Chinese restaurants. We then proceeded to order some garlic chicken wings, honey walnut prawn, honey garlic pork chops, house crispy chow mein...okay hold up. Before you think the only thing we order is Gwai Lo food (our group was only half Chinese) ...we also ordered some steamed tilapia, Fu Chou fried rice, some random veggie dishes (the only one that stands out of course being baby bok choy), and of course my favorite dessert. So how was the food....damn delicious...everything...literally an orgasm in your mouth. Even though I just about exploded before dessert. I actually ended up ordering two bowls of it. It was time to head home, and I forgot to mention free parking next door (Woohoo!). My drive back home was one of pain yet joy from my sense of accomplishment. The only thing better than eating at New Star that day was opening up my red envelopes...Muhahaha!!! ~G

Have been eating here pretty regularly for the past few years and the quality has been very solid with regards to any (deep) fried foods. Ingredients are always top notch (when it comes to Chinese restaurants), which sometimes translates to an above average price (again, compared to Chinese restaurants). Other typical dishes (fried rice, fried noodles, hot pot dish, veggies, seafood) are always done well. Service is always good (might be less so when it gets really busy). Some recommended dishes (yes they are all deep fried - but oh so good): Deep fried pork chop in honey (garlic) sauce, deep fried pork chop in white (mayo) sauce, deep fried cod/fish in garlic and pepper, deep fried beef strips in black pepper sauce FYI: the restaurant offers parking (only a handful does that nowadays in Chinatown) in the adjacent lot.

Many Chinese restaurants in Seattle don't meet my expectation as a Cantonese American, but New Star definitely met it. The waitresses and head boss lady were all very kind and genuine. The waitresses continuously asked if we wanted to change our plates, which I really liked. Our table ordered the New Year's Dinner Special for 10 people, and all the dishes were very tasty and there was a large variety in this set menu. Their seafood was especially tasty, though all dishes were superb. This restaurant is also great for large parties, as well as small families.

Friday Night Review: No line up and immediate entry. Bonus of free parking on the side of the building. The restaurant was very clean and the staff were authentic and very very nice and friendly. 50% full and no music so this is not for the first date but atmosphere is modern and friendly. House wine was $5.00 and standard chardonnay fare. We looked through some yelp reviews but were intrigued by an old Chinese grandfather and grandmother with their facebook talking grandson- they had the best looking chinese greens in a huge bowl and a lobster. We copied them on the greens but did not want to spring for the $16.00 per pound lobster- although looked good. Here is what we ordered: Honey walnut prawns $14.95 Very big and tender prawns Coated with honey walnut sauce not too sweat Very good mix Pea leave with garlic sauce $13.80 Highlight of evening Baby snow peas - very tender leafs Seasonal absolutely great Grade( "A+) : Best greens ever and we used to live in Hong Kong Mixed seafood and tofu hot pot: About $10.00 Too much calamari Tofu tasty Light fish sauce Big pieces of brocolli Solid "B" grade No great- kinda average with very few shrimp and some fish I did not recognize- majority went home with us With 2 glasses of wine and 2 tsingtoa beers- came to $68- a little pricey for the atmosphere but we could have only had one drink and skipped the hot pot and came in under $50.00 Overall- one of the better Chinese restaurants in Seattle and we will come back again.

New Star, you have rubbed me the right way, so I'm going to have to write an addendum to my initial review. I didn't realize their mandarin crispy fish actually tastes sooo much better at dinner than during lunch. The quality of the fish is pretty good, too! But that's not the only reason why you got that extra star...your staff is something else. It was a Wednesday night and you decided to serve an old drunkard eating all by himself. Sure he was a bit lonely, but you guys made sure he got more than enough water and you still treated him like a regular customer instead of grimacing as if you were waiting for him to get kicked out. There aren't a lot of restaurants I can come by in the International District that treat even drunkards so politely - usually they'd be shooed elsewhere or quickly served and thrown out just so they can get their money. And for those who ask...I wasn't talking about myself. But I'm sure if I was drunk and felt like eating dinner by myself, I'd surely try and come here if I ever end up around this area.

Something has changed here. Their lunch special used to rock my word. It was an entrée, fried rice and an egg roll. All for under $7. Great right? It's not the same. It's the entrée and steamed rice and no egg roll. You still get soup but darn it, I loved the old special. Oh well, it's still good food and a safe place in the International District for picky eaters.

This is our go-to place for Chinese seafood. Live crab, lobster, geoduck -- always on the menu. And when they're in season, this is the best place in Seattle to eat spot prawns. The service is excellent; another family owned and operated business done right (manager is an owner; so is the chef).

My friend brought me here and I was a bit reluctant as I'm used to go to Honey Court, Hing Loon, Purple Dot, 663. Nevertheless, as we got inside and sat down, I was excited. First thing I saw on the menu was shark's fin soup. Last time I had this was 5 years ago and I've been craving for as long as I can remember. I let my friend order as I was not familiar with the menu and turned out all of them are delicious. Here are the things we ordered: 21. Crab Meat w/ Shark's Fin Soup 31. Assorted Sizzling Rice Soup 67. Pan Fried Fish Stuffed in Egg Plant with Dry Pepper & Garlic ##. Stir Fried Luffa/Sigua - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Si… On my next visit, I'm going to order their salt and pepper crab. Oh btw, they have a private parking space next to the restaurant. Sweet!

For starters, if a restaurant offers FREE parking for their customers, while the same parking lot charges $30 for event parking. You know you are screwed. The menu price is the most expensive I ever seen in Chinatowns, and that includes London, Boston, New York City, Toronto, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston et al. $8 for wonton noodle soup (average: $4.5), $18 for black bean clams (average $10.50), beef chow ho fun at $16 (average $8). I'd expect the place to have superb food AND be a tourist trap AND offers great view. But I didn't get any of that. The serving portion was average. The quality is somewhat better than some American Chinese place 2 blocks away, at 3 times the price. During Saturday dinner peak, the restaurant only had 3 parties (including us), and one of them kept flipping the menu as if they were looking for mercy to their wallet. Nuff said.

Took the youngest kidlet for lunch with her dad last week. There was a musty smell when we walked in, it's the ID, it smells, I know! We ignored the smell and had a seat since my husband assured me it's good. We got the menu, made the munchkin practice her reading and waited...... finally someone showed up to take the order 15 minutes later! So the food, it's good, some of it was really good. Kidlet ate an entire plate of sweet and sour chicken. The soup was microwaved warm so it had hot and cold spots, REALLY thick too. The meat three way was only meat two way (beef was missing), the mongolian beef was good, and the Hong Kong style noodles were really good. The food came in spurts and by the time the last dish was on the table we were mostly done eating and ready to go. They were out of rice also so we got a plate of chow mien instead - meh. Took the kidlet to the bathroom and we found the source of the musty smell. She walked in and declared it was 5 star food with a no star bathroom, someone has been reading a little too much Yelp I think!

New Star Seafood is a very nice family-style Chinese restaurent on the edge of the International District. I came here with a large group comprised of extended family and ate way too much. Everything we ordered was pretty delicious and served quickly. The wait staff was very efficient at refilling rice, tea, and water, and definitely one of the nicer ones I've encountered in the International District. The restaurant is also very clean, which is always a plus for a Chinese place. Definitely will come here again and recommend this place to others.

Whoot!!! This is as good as it gets Seattle! K-So I'm picky. Being part Chinese from Hong Kong, I know my Cantonese comfort foods. Being that I don't live in B.C., LA., or Oakland, it's slim picken's to get good Chinese... I don't like Ho Ho. I don't like Hing Loon's florescent lights. Jade Garden is dirty and their staff is rude. I will not support Sea Garden's overpriced dishes. I will not support Honey Court. The owner's wife once stole my mom's credit card number and charged nearly 7K at businesses in China. Bitch. She never even went to jail! And my mom went through HELL trying to get that sorted out. She's never even been to China! I went in there back in '01 and told her ass off in Chinese in front of her ENTIRE family during their dinner at Honey Court. 3 other friends of mine went through the same thing. THIEF'S! Tea Garden has been a hit or miss...so, my friends and I were going to visit V Garden and got stuck in Sounder game traffic and decided to go to New Star because they have parking...free! In the adjacent lot! Score. If there was valet too, I'd be one happy camper. Oh wait. Not in LA. =) Anyway-I peeked inside first, saw the "specials" in Chinese on the wall, and noticed some Taiwanese people inside eating. I decided to give it a try... After quizzing the waitress in Chinese on their food quality and specials we ordered: HK style chicken chow mein (Excellent!!) Yang chow fried rice (bbq pork, shrimp, veggies) ((Perfect!)) Fish (flounder) (Ok..) Salt & Pepper pork (Meh) Chinese style fried chicken (Excellent!) Chinese style broccoli (oong choi) (Yum!) 2 Tseingtao Beers (ps. this is for two people) Delish! Oink. All the dishes arrived in near perfection. I was really surprised. The only dish I did not like was the salt/pepper pork. Way too much MSG. I'd love to try their Kobe Beef dish next time... Service was excellent to boot! The restaurant was busy but the waitress was on top of it, didn't even have to ask for another beer (bonus!) Another bonus: complimentary dessert! I'm coming back with my entire family.

Great choices of seafood from fish to lobster made however you want it. NIce friendly, environment and great people. really roomy and good food. I've eaten dim sum there a few times and think it's good but again, Jade Garden is the best for dim sum. The owner is actually one of the chefs and you can't go wrong with that. He also likes to interact with his guests. Never had lunch there, but did have dinner and the lobster was kind of dried and salty. The steamed fish was awesome along with the Chow Mein and Honey Walnut Shrimp. Their Hot Pot comes with free lobster and can't go wrong with that. Great place to bring the family, including kids.

Maybe the cook had an off day but the bill was more memorable than the food. We ordered two styles of crab: Bi Feng Tang (sauteed with peppers and fried crumbles) and ginger with scallion. Both were really bland and lacked flavor from either the crab (crab's fault) or the sauce (cooks fault). The clams in black bean sauce was also very bland even though it had all the right ingredients: black beans, hot peppers, garlic, onions, and basil. The whole cod was pretty good because it was nice and tender. The pan fried noodles was at least decent. I don't think I will return.

Though the first choice for family dinner with out of town guests was 663, mom changed it to New Star because of their parking lot. After a bit of confusion over which stalls were for guests, we arrived and were seated at two huge round tables. Dinner started with Beef Westlake Soup, which, if you don't like cilantro, you are out of luck. Kind of an egg drop type soup, but with little chunks of meat, cilantro and green onions. One of my favorites. Peking Duck with tasty little buns, hoisin and green onions (where does the actual duck meat go?); Steamed Tilapia (where the kids poked around the eyeballs); Abalone with chinese greens (not a fan, but if you close your eyes, you might think they are black mushrooms); Peking Pork Chops (tasty and saucy). Food was good and I'd go back with a large group.

First, this restaurant is clean. About the food... we ordered soup, fried rice, salt and pepper pork, mongolian beef, honey walnut prawns, fried breaded shrimp and seafood noodles (10 of us). I think everything is good. Beef is so tender, and their honey walnut prawns is deli. Why 4 stars? They use MSG (I know, you are not surprised). But the salt and pepper pork is bombarded with MSG lol. It should be called salt, pepper and MSG pork. Anyhow... The server is very nice. Restroom is clean too which is a plus. Yes, I'm going back again.

The only item I needed to eat was the salt and pepper crab. It was absolutely deliciously battered and deep fried and topped (heavily; which I loved) with fried garlic, freshly sliced green onions and red chiles. I was still eating it when everyone else had called it quits (I am a slow eater). Taking little bits of crab with the little bits of garlic and green onion and popping it into my mouth. It was like the happiest crab party ever. Over and over again. We also ate the house special bean curd and fried rice which were okay. I really enjoyed the broth of the won ton soup. Very tasty.

Stopped by this place for take-out on my trip through Seattle. I'm torn between giving this place a 3-star and 4-star review. For me, it gets a 3.5 star, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt since I only ate there once. The fried chicken was tasty, but not as rip-roaringly good as some of the other reviewers said. I thought some of it was a little dry, but that could've been the take-out effect. Also, the chicken didn't come with the salt/rub mixture that often accompanies this dish in other chinese restaurants. The seafood chow mein was very good. It has chunks of white fish (unsure), squid, shrimp, etc. Nice flavor, good portion and couldn't believe the fish didn't break up -- that was impressive. The other dishes were good and tasty, but not great - garlic green beans, potstickers, mixed vegetable. Again, the food was good, no complaints, but not extraordinary as some have reviewed it. Maybe I need another shot and need to eat-in next time. And yes, I'd go there again.

One of the BEST cantonese restaurants in Puget Sound. The food is super delicious and authentic. The hot and sour soup is to die for. The peking duck is great too. Everything here tastes great. The price range is on the pricey end - but it is worth it if you want great food. They also offer complimentary chinese dessert (using tabioca soup or red bean soup) - most other restaurants only give you fortune cookies. My 5 year old daughter loves the tabioca dessert.

A little heavy on the corn starch in the soups but all the flavors and ingredients were good. The portions on the lunch specials were generous and the Fried Flounder with Hot Pepper and Dry Salt was expertly battered and fried and light and flaky. I'd go back for sure.

Skip it and go next door to the Red Lantern . I had Shrimp Chow Fun which had only 7 shrimp and basically one large noodle. There was not enough sauce to separate them so I had basically one foot long 8 layer noodle.

steam chicken with ginger & garlic dip on side was surprisingly good Satay beef with noodle pot was tasty string beans, salt & pepper fish, fish & crab soups were all good one additional star for their complimentary dessert :) service was on the slow side,

I'd give 3 stars for the food. There are some great dishes and some mediocre ones. Extra star for the great service, relatively clean space (for a Chinese restaurant), and consistency of their food. Private parking lot is also nice for dinner time. You can get better food elsewhere, but no disasters will befall you at New Star.

  • Judy Z.

New Star was clean and the service was great. We ordered eight jewels with tofu hot pot, szechwan egg plant, and beef chow fun noodles. The dishes were seasoned and fresh. The quantity and quality was just right. I know my family would love this place.

I ate here because of all the positve reviews . When my girlfriend and I walked into the restaurant we were skeptical at first but based on our instincts of no one eating there, we followed yelpers. We left unimpressed but it may be because of what we ordered. This can't be as good as Seattle gets.

I've been here quite a few times this past year and have never been disappointed by their eggplant dish. It's called pan fried fish stuffed in eggplant. It gets topped with fried garlic and chilies. The sweet dipping sauce is very light and perfect for this dish. Other items on the menu are decent and the food is consistent every time I go there. Dinner even comes with a free tapioca dessert which is super light and refreshing. New Star is a gem in the ID.

OK, so I have no idea how this rates in the rankings of Seattle's Chinese restaurants. I don't think I've ever gone out for Chinese food in Seattle before. Fusion, yes. "Regular" Chinese food, no. But a recent family gathering brought 12 of us into New Star Seafood Restaurant, and our dinner there has definitely made it a permanent feature on our list of favorite restaurants in Seattle. My wife, our two girls and I walk in and before we can say anything about meeting other people here for dinner, people are pointing us into the other room . . . OK, so it wasn't THAT hard to figure out: we were the only non-Asian diners in the place! We had a spectacular dinner -- from soup to prawns, from garlic crab, to whole ginger fish, and just about everything in between. Each dish was not just good, but excellent! (Even the geoduck -- which nobody outside of Seattle would ever think of eating voluntarily -- was pretty good.) Of course, better than the geoduck was the REAL duck! Classic Peking Duck -- stunning! Seriously, I'm looking forward to my next trip to Seattle (despite the rain, snow, sleet, and hail I had to drive through!) and my next meal at New Star!

After this meal, I will no longer complain about the Chinese food in Chicago. I understand that you can't compare Chinese food in Seattle to Chinese food in actual China, but still, compared to that in Chinese restaurants throughout the US, I have to say that, aside from take-out joints, this was some of the worst I've had. When we walked in, we got pretty excited at the fresh seafood by the door - surely a self-proclaimed seafood restaurant in the middle of Puget Sound would have some of the freshest and tastiest seafood around? Nope. We ordered one of the family dinners off the Chinese menu, and each of the seafood dishes used frozen products and/or over-fried the proteins. The Spicy Shelter Crab clearly used old crab - the meat was limp and bitter, which they tried to cover up with the chili and garlic. I've had this dish many times before, and this is NOT the way to do it. The other standout disaster was the Three-Cup Chicken - the chicken was so overcooked that it dried up our mouths, and consequently we left the pot largely untouched. All other dishes hovered on the bad side of the spectrum as well (eg, walnut shrimp was over-fried and possibly re-fried). The only good part of the meal was the added-on blanched headed shrimp - this was because they had to show us the wiggling shrimp tableside before taking them to the kitchen. And yes, they charge for white rice ($1 a head?) despite all the other foods you'll pay for. We were with the owner of a restaurant in Chicago's Chinatown, and he was completely appalled. (Is this a regional thing? Cuz Shanghai River in Vancouver also charged us, but nowhere else in the world have we ever been charged...) If this is truly a typical four-star Chinese restaurant in Seattle, then my sincere recommendation is to drive three hours up to Vancouver instead.

For almost every special occasion, my family keeps coming here for family gatherings with our relatives. Since this equals free food, I wouldn't complain. Our dinner started off with a few appetizers and soup. I had the deep fried prawns, jellyfish, and a few vegetable dishes. Then later we had the main dishes that included lobster, a gigantic steamed fish, fried rice, and dow mew with abalone. They were all very good and luckily I didn't get heartburn like I usually do when I eat at Chinese restaurants. The waitresses are friendly and there is a parking lot next to the restaurant.

I've always loved the food from New Star... many family dinners here with my folks. I've had them prepare food, just your average chow mein, beef and broccoli type, for parties and it always turns out well. The food always tastes of quality and freshness... and the seafood is my favorite here.

I used to eat here a lot when I worked downtown. The staff are great, very friendly and attentive. The food is very good and it does not taste at all oily - problem I've had with a lot of other Chinese places. Everything tastes fresh. I haven't had a bad dish there although I have mostly only had the lunch specials (what a bargain!). The Singapore noodles were delicious as well, and whenever I get takeout they are ready very quickly!

i ordered the lunch special of sweet and sour chicken. and i have to say, it wasn't what i expected. it was not sweet, but bland. maybe because i didn't know what to order, but i didn't think you can go wrong with sweet and sour anything. boy, was i wrong. i usually do not like to waste food, but i couldn't eat it. it was THAT bad. SMH.

I LOVE the sweet and sour pork ribs, I forgot the name on the menu for it, but it's gooooooood, one of the best one I've had, the sweet and sour chicken was WEIRD tho... but nice place, I would come back for the pork =)

full and satisfied... i came here for a banquet lunch. like usually, the food was good and service was friendly. could have been quicker but was satisfied. cost was reasonable and this is the closest chinatown restaurant to my office. they also have a pretty cheap and good lunch special. good size portions and they have free parking in the lot after 5pm. I'll come back here every so often for lunch and even dinner.

Hard to make judgement on just one visit, but so far so good. I had the lunch combo with mandarin chicken and hot and sour soup. The mandarin chicken was not what I was expecting. It was like a cross between KFC and general tsos chicken, but in a good way. Crispy, peppery and sweet. I'm pretty picky about my hot and sour soup, so I was pleasantly surprised. It was not too sour and very flavorful. My one criticism was it was a little thick for soup. I will be back again. Especially as I spotted the elusive shanghai dumpling on the menu.

Pretty good and well priced; it was obvious that everything was made fresh and by hand. The only so-so items were the Mu Shu Pork (but I'm spoiled by the Mu Shu at Uptown China) and the deep fried prawn appetizer. The vegetables in the fried rice were very fresh and the General's chicken was outstanding.

I found this restaurant by accident due to Takohachi being closed. I had a meal there and thought it was good. The prices are good too. And I thought that was the end of it. I went back again, tried something else... and again... and again... and before I knew it, New Star became my favorite Chinese restaurant. The thing I like about this place is that their dishes are perfectly prepared. Don't get me wrong -- it won't blow you out of this world. They don't add any flare, and you won't find any new inventive flavors. What they're good at is "doing it right." Some of my favorites (I have the takeout menu with me :P and in my car :b..................) * Beef Chow Fun - I order this wherever I go and they make this dish very well. * Congee - I just had my wisdom teeth taken out recently, and I had congee at just about all the places one can have congee. They definitely have the best congee here. It's just like the ones I had as a kid at the congee shops in my little village. It's uniformly thick and smooth (not chunky thick bleh). Sprinkle a bunch of white pepper powder and it's heaven! * West Lake Beef Soup - holy crap this is the best soup EVAR! * Deep Fried Pork Chops with hot pepper and dry salt - Their batter is crazy good! * Deep fried prawns - A different batter, it's soft and lightly crispy. I didn't think much of it at first, but it gets addictive. I think it's because the batter has a taste that reminds me of those color shrimp chips that gets stuck onto your tongue if you know what I'm taking about... * Baby bok choy with garlic sauce - mmmmm... The only negative is that I was disappointed in the shrimp fried rice -- they used the little pink shrimps which aren't what I consider shrimps. It just didn't taste very good at all.

Nothing so stellar, nothing so terrible. The lobsters were on the smaller side. Most of the dishes were nicely balanced. Service was pretty good. The chow mein was ok, the special vermicelli was above average, the lobster was so so. Probably wont be going back unless the other chinese seafood restaurants around the area close down.

We usually get takeout here and love the Mongolian Beef, any of the fried rice (Yang Chow, BBQ Pork), Flounder with Pepper and Salt, really delicious Won Ton soup with ginormous homemade won tons, and --a new favorite at the hostess suggestion--!! Manadarin Chicken. The quality is high, ingredients are fresh, seasoning is excellent. We also were invited by a friend to a birthday party for about 12 people. The BD boy did all the ordering, so we had no idea what was coming. But the dishes came in succession, each one as delicious as the next, 8 or 10 dishes in all. I can't remember what they were, but the Sauteed Green Beans with Garlic Sauce were MEMORABLE. Good food. Good service. Friendly.

i loved new star! i went with a group of eight and we had dinner family style. we ordered the crispy rice soup, honey walnut prawns, dried green beans, a chicken dish (can't remember which one) and then beef hunan. all of the dishes were fresh and wonderfully spiced. the staff were incredibly sweet and nice and gave us free dessert at the end. not sure if this is typical so please don't get upset if they don't give you dessert. this is one of the best chinese restaurants i've been to in seattle.

This place rocks... The peking duck, special tofu, crispy chicken and the fried rice are awesome. The owner is friendly and the food is always fresh. The cook has 30 years experience and it shows. Try to show up during the cooks hours and you'll be in for a treat. Its the best cantonese food in Seattle. Parking is also free in the lot next door... don't let the outside deceive you... its a real find... the menu is extensive too. I give this one a 3 star shaoling style rating...

Oh New Star, you are better than what House of Hong used to be. Did you know that over 70% of prepackaged eggrolls frozen are manufactured in Texas? So it's little wonder your average American does not have the firmest grasp of the delights of "real" Chinese food and what it can do for them. I like eggrolls but really even though they're good here I would steer you towards their Kobe Beef, their Chicken Chow Mein Hong Kong style and their hotpots. There is a delightful desert with Tiny Tapioca pearls and coconut milk. I never liked Tapioca before. It is to speedy, clean and delicious and as in an enduring classic fixture to any neighborhood they don't have the Seattle norm of ingrained abhorrence for the presence of children.

The best thing about New Star is the duck. My friends and I used to go all the time. The duck was not super crispy but it came with those steamed buns. The sweet sauce with the steamed bun and duck meat was always one of my favorites. They also have a prawns dish with walnuts that looks a bit strange with a white sauce but always made me happy. I think the shrimp were fried in a batter to make them crispy. I like this place and am thinking about trying out their lunch sometime soon.

This place is a total hole in the wall, but the food's good and they even have parking (see the lot just west of the building on jackson). My personal favorites are the salt and pepper fish (its fried), the seafood hot pot, and the tapioca dessert which is among the best i've tried in seattle. The place is open pretty late during the week and is a pretty good bargain as a restaurant.

RUDE SERVICE! I went there a few times with family. EVERY TIME even when there is other seats available, they would seat my family at that inconvient corner place like we were hideous looking people. Its been a while since I've eaten here at new star and i tottally forgot how awesome this place is.. I love the fact that when I go here there is hardly anyone there and the wait is not long.. the food is fresh and delicious.. anyone who comes here should try the beef and broccoli (order a side of white rice to go with it).

Surpisingly good. There is a parking lot right next door. In downtown wow!!! I wasn't so sure what to expect by the outside storefront and the arrest that is going on across the street. Once you get inside it is clean and the waitress was friendly. Our food was excellent. I will return to this restaurant soon.

My boyfriend and I love this place. We just moved here from the San Francisco Bay Area, and this is where we go when we need our authentic Hong Kong style Chinese food fix. We've heard other Chinese patrons mention that it doesn't get much better than this place unless you head up to Vancouver. We love their scallop chow fun (dry style), mixed seafood hot pot or noodle soup, and curried Singapore noodles. They have an excellent selection of stir-fried Chinese greens, including pea shoots, my favorite. If I could eat wheat, I would be sure to try their Hong Kong style chow mein. Their vegetables and seafood are always very fresh and the portions are generous. The food's a little pricey, but you pay for what you get, and most dishes could easily serve 4-6 or more, depending on how many you order (it's all banquet style). They put fresh sliced geoduck in the mixed seafood dishes, which is such a nice Northwest touch. Incredibly, they have whole live KING crabs in their seafood case. We're gluten-intolerant and MSG-sensitive, and the staff is SO friendly and accomodating to us. We bring in our own bottle of wheat-free soy sauce and they always cook the dishes with it for us! They also leave out the MSG, and usually give us a dessert of fresh sliced oranges on the house. They offered us some of that wonderful hot tapioca pudding other reviewers have mentioned, but it's cooked with both coconut milk and evaporated milk... and we also can't have dairy. Doh!

of all the places we saw on yelp why this place? after the game we were hungry and saw that this was highly rated on yelp, maybe it was what we ordered i don't know (chicken with black bean sauce and beef pan fried noodles) but this was the worst chinese food we've had ever. one thing with chinese food whether its panda express or mr. chow its still edible chinese food. the black bean sauce was way too sweet with no trace of spice, in fact i added chili paste three times and tossed just to add some heat which didn't help the flavor of the dish. the pan fried noodles wasn't pan fried and tasted more like dry lo-mein. this was a cantonese or hong kong style restaurant right? i mean i saw the requisite seafood tank which is usually the sign of hong kong style restaurant. it was so bad we didn't finish our meal and we actually looked for another place to eat but hesitated after looking at some of the menus. we didn't want to spend $26+ again for awful chinese food which we've never had ever so we went to belltown and had something else.

I came here for a family dinner, banquet style with three tables. Overall most of the items were cooked well and full of flavor. A tad bit on the saltier side however since I and others in my group downed several glasses of water between dishes. Portion sizes a bit smaller than other Seattle Chinatown places. 3 stars overall. First dish was king crab prepared three ways: salt and pepper deep fried, ginger scallion on rice noodles, and the as fried rice. Crab was skinny - mostly shell and not much meat, but the meat it did have was sweet. The crab flavor and sauce really permeated the noodles on the second dish. As for the fried rice - pretty good, but mostly dried scallops and not crab. The fish maw soup was excellent - I wouldn't be surprised if they slipped in some crab there as well. Meat dishes super tender - the flank steak was savory with very little chew. Heavy sauce however. Honey roasted garlic prawns and pork chops were both amazing - crispy and sweet.

It was open on Christmas so that is a plus for me! They were super busy, since only Asian places tend to be open on Christmas. We were seated right away but everyone on the staff was rushing rushing and scurrying everywhere! FOOD: - peking duck (full sized) - this was pretty yummy, and the buns were pillowy soft, but a little pricey for the amount we got - i wish the duck itself was bigger! - stir fried green beans - loved this! always good stir fried with garlic and seasoning - szechuan eggplant - good, but took SO LONG for us to get it! I just picked out the eggplant and left most of the other stuff behind - some sort of pork (I forgot the name lol) - too much bones!! SERVICE: Slow and inconsistent - super busy and a bit understaffed. At least no one was dawdling or purposely going slow, they were just swamped. Everyone was friendly though! Especially when we spoke in Chinese, but I had to ask about our eggplant dish 3-4 times before we got it. VENUE/PARKING: Standard Chinese restaurant decor, bathrooms are clean. Parking was easy enough to find on the street.

Went there again for a family gathering. This time we ordered Peking duck, which has really crispy skin and tender meat. The stir fried crab is another plus. Though they deep fried it first, the meat is till juicy and sweet. Kind of messy when eating crab legs with both hands lol. I will definitely go there again. Great place for family gathering and large group.

We went to New Star Seafood Restaurant, the place is very clean and nicely decorated. we ordered Alaska Crab, Home Style Tofu, and hot and sour soup as our lunch, the Alaska Crab was so fresh and delicious! I have never had better crab in my life! It should be a "must-eat" for anyone visiting Seattle, the home style Tofu is also great, the service is very nice. May(the owner) is very friendly and offered us a lot of traveler's information... after a few hours sightseeing, we went back to New Star Seafood to have our dinner, May recommended fresh steam fish (sea bass?), again it is so fresh and delicious, just melted in the mouth! the price is reasonable for fresh seafood, we love this place and will be back for sure!

Really liked this place - arrived @ 5pm on Sat - we were first customers in for dinner. We were on our way to a sounders match @ 7pm, made a great place to start our evening. Nice, appeared clean, glass covered white linen tables, nice chairs. We ordered 2 cups of hot-sour soup, the Seafood/tofu hot pot and beef with broccoli. Everything was delightful, soup had right amount of sourness (and there is white pepper on the table if you need a bit more, like me) - the beef super tender, broccoli not overcooked, great sauce, and the hot pot was amazing, big pieces of seafood and tofu in a wonderful sauce. Service quick efficient, water glasses/teapot kept full. Prices were medium-high I'd say, menu is online w/o prices (in English, at least) Green rating, good, Service is reuseable dinnerware, not sure if take out uses styro. I'll definitely be stopping in here again

Not sure about the food but they are certainly rude. Walked in at 10:08pm and they just say "we are closed". I asked when they close and the said 10:30pm. Strange because it was not 10:30pm and they are also listed as open until 11:00pm...
