I ordered one slice of pepperoni and ate it on the premises. It was easily the best pizza i have had in recent memory...and definitely the best slice I have had on the west coast. Everything about this slice is well executed, but the crust is particularly outstanding. Because the crust is so perfectly thin, this style of pizza is best served with limited toppings (2 at most). With a pie of this quality, I would avoid delivery like the plague.

Delicious! One of my favorite places to go in West Seattle. Their ceasar salad is very good, as well. It is a little on the expensive side, but it's totally worth it.

Pieces are huge and delicious. I got Hawaiian. Thin, foldable, great flavor. The crust end is a little too crunchy for my liking but it's definitely the best pizza around.

Ordered pizza 30 minutes ahead. Showed up 30 minutes later, pizza not in the oven yet, despite what appeared to be a pretty quiet afternoon at their place. Waited patiently, received a burnt pizza. When asking the staff member if it seemed a bit overdone, he said 'what? It's fine'. Didn't have time to wait for a remake, took it to my gathering where we discovered the bottom was thoroughly burnt. Overall impression: slow service, poor attention to detail, indifferent staff, mediocre pizza. We won't be back.

The young people working there were very polite and hard working; very rare these days! The pizza toppings were tasty and the pizza was very filling. My only complaint is the crust edges were burnt and it was kind of pricey.

WOW! Small places like this is why I like to adventure out and just find something. Though the establishment is exceptionally small, you can't help but say to yourself WOW on the food and the service. This is by far one of the best pizza places for taste I have ever been to. The price fits perfect, you can't do nothing but just allow saliva to fill your mouth on the taste. I hard seen the reviews of this place and I can raise my hand and give a thumbs up with the rest of the community. WOW!

We ordered 2 pepperoni and mushroom slices. Love that we could order by slice. The slices are even bigger than the costco ones. Nice and thin. Love the crust. But the only thing is i think they top the toppings very last. the pepperoni came right off and barely stayed on the pizza. I like my pepperoni and mushroom to be cook within the cheese not on top. It was overall good but if they could please make that change like after you add the toppings sprinkle a little cheese to have the topping stick on better. Tastes good, Very friendly, Fast and I also ordered a pint of the Tilt Ice cream they sold there, The green tea. It was good but Ill write a review for tilt ice cream about that. Priced a little high for a slice. I think as of now I would prefer costco's pizza but if Giannoni's makes the topping change ill be happier. I'll be back again but Ill probably ask for a little more cheese on top.

THE best pizza in West Seattle. No doubt about it. Read the other reviews for more details, but I'll provide some more practical info, Tip - its best to eat the pizza there. This is thin crispy crust stuff. Loses its pop after a half an hour drive home. Pepperoni and Salami is a great combi. They do not have pesto. I would have given them 4-stars for not having pesto, but I added the 5th star just to get the mean up. But make no mistake, this is a quality product unlike anything in West SEA. Enjoy.

I like thin pizza but Giannoni's is waaaayyyy too thin. The flavors were good but the dough was so thin that all of the cheese and sauce broke my slice in half and plopped on my plate. My wife had the same problem with her slice too. It really sucks when you have to eat a slice with a fork and knife because you cant fold it in half. The girl who rang me up was nice but the rest of the crew wasn't very friendly. I guess you can't expect good customer service when you have kids running the place. Old school arcade games are always a nice touch! The decor was pretty wack, trying too hard to be cool with the graffiti mural on the wall. The pizza isn't bad. It's much better than Red Star, Pags and all the other crap you can get in West Seattle.

I've been coming in here for the past 3 years and the kiddos behind the counter always super respectful and attentive. Gives me a sense of hope for our future. The pizza like it's already been mentioned is made to order. I love that it's by the slice and that they have a thin, crispy crust. The dough is made in-house and it's done in a matter of minutes. I had a chance to meet the owner just a few days ago, super friendly and nice lady. She was funny and very talkative, it gave me a sense of community. Serious legit pizza and will be making a stop here frequently from Super Deli Mart.

This is the best pizza in south King County without a doubt (at least in my judgement). Locally owned NY style pizza prepared & served by an enthusiastic staff plus a selection of delicious salads (Misto is our favorite). No beer or wine but killer ice cream. Outdoor seating for balmy days & nites.

It was...fine. I wasn't a fan of the crust. I like all different kinds normally, but theirs was kind of burnt and neither my boyfriend or I bothered to finish the ends. We ordered several different kinds - pep, roasted garlic, artichoke hearts & kalamata olives. None of the toppings really stood out (besides roasted garlic because how can that NOT be delicious) and in fact the olives tasted pretty much like plain black olives. Maybe canned? I also got a Caesar salad which actually was pretty tasty and huge. They do have some neat vintage sodas that taste good, but the food can take a while to come out and there's no fountain so maybe don't open your soda early. :/

Good for a quick bite if you're in the Area. I've only grabbed some slices there. It seemed a little greasier than most pizza places. I'll reserve full judgement until I order a whole pie.

It's like Zeek's, Pagliacci's and Bambino's combined. Friendly service, tasty pizza and cheap prices.

Their pizza is good. Lots of premium topping choices and endless combo options. Slices are huge and cooked to order. Pros: The owner of this place is really cool. She recognizes you over time and provides great customer service. I like that this is a local business and family in West Seattle. They also make AWESOME fresh salads and dressings from scratch. A small is more than enough to feed one person for a meal. Their antipasto misto salad is my go to meal when I need a quick lunch. You can always call ahead and they'll have your order ready for pick up. Cons: pizza is a little thin/floppy. I love NY style pizza that you can fold, but sometimes their pizza is so thin and doughy that your only option is a folk and knife. It's fine..I just think it could stand being in the oven a few more minutes to crisp up. Also, they hire a LOT of high school kids. Most of them are okay. Some of them are obnoxious, and on their cell phone or chatting with their friends when you want to order or pick up food. I was treated rudely once by a young woman but haven't experienced that same attitude since. I'll consider that a one off experience and not let it ruin my perception of the entire business. The to go boxes for salads are compostable, but certainly not compatible with their basalmic vinegar dressing, which goes right through the bottom leaving a huge oily mess on whatever furniture or surface you are eating on. Ugh. My work around is transferring the salad to a ceramic bowl to eat, but wish they would fix this!

  • Joe S.

Pretty good New York style pizza in the sense that the slices are thin and greasy, not that the owner is impatient and calls you a sissy boy from behind the counter. The great thing is they make their slices on a made-to-order basis, so no worries about getting soggy slices that have been sitting in a carousel all day. Decent prices too. But the really cool thing about Giannoni's is this insane 15-foot mural they have on the wall. It kinda looks like the Fugees battling a sort of Rastafarian medusa with the help of a kick-flipping skateboarder armed with a can of spraypaint, with a bunch of stoned onlookers around them. You have to see it to believe it.

  • Katrina D.

Yum yum yum! Outstanding! Giannoni's has great pizza, at a reasonable cost. They also have indoor and outdoor patio seating, and I love how the place is lofted and feels super large compared to the outside. For anyone around West Seattle, I highly recommend Giannoni's Pizza. They have scrumptious ice cream that is served in pints as well, so you can go all out and eat super healthy. ;) Then, take it to Target, Marshall's, or QFC for some shopping! Or, if you really want to be oxymoronical, go to 24 Hour Fitness.

I am a fan of this place. My favorite by far is the Supremo Uno which comes with: Tomato base, mozzarella, pepperoni, green peppers, sausage, plack olives, and red onions. But... I make a change to it saying I want rosted red peppers instead of green and my oh my is it good! Check this place out for sure. The place is great to see them throw the pies.

  • Kyla C.

I love NY style pizza (my husband has shown me the light) but this thin crust is too thin. When you pick up the slice and it bends at the ends and all the cheese slides off, that's a problem. I appreciate that they have slices because I can grab one when running errands at Westwoods but I would like the crust to have just a little more substance. Good pizza overall but could use a little improvement.

  • Brady D.

Pizza slices the size of a baseball pennant! I don't even know how I know that cause I hate sports. Anyway, this place has great pizza at very reasonable prices. I think you can get a slice of just cheese for $2 that would feed a colony of hobos for a month. Their salads are good too. Sometimes I feel dainty and just want some roughage so their salads gimme what I need. They also have a few classic arcade games which for nerds like me, is pretty bitchin'.

  • Ashley C.

Service was nothing to write home about. The cheese slices were nothing to write home about...the Spinach Rustica sandwich, however, was delicious. Not exactly worth the 30 minutes we had to wait for it (and we were the only people in there), but damn it was good. If we go back, it will be solely for that sandwich and we'll probably call ahead so it will be ready when we get there.

Time for an update. I dreaded writing this since I gave Giannoni's such a great reivew but I have to be honest. I haven't been there in at least half a year. The last few times I went I was disappointed with the quality. Things seemed to have gone downhill. The slices tasted very different and were overcooked with really tough crusts and the sauce just didn't have the same taste to it. The kids who work there seem to have zero interest in customer service. It's a shame too. When they first opened this was the only place in town I felt had a real honest-to-god NY slice in Seattle. I'll have to renew my holy grail like quest. *sigh*

Short and sweet: This is NY pizza. Period. Yes, including the orange grease on the wax paper. I made sure I got my fill of the pizza here before I moved to the north end. The best NY pizza I've had ANYWHERE since I moved here in 1996.

  • Cobina S.

I feel bad to say this! :( I'm willing to wait an extra five minutes to have my pizza cooked at a lower temperature, avoiding the blackened crust on the edges, and bottom. I don't know if this is the signature way they cook their pizza's, or if it's the chef's fault for not paying attention. The customer service is a huge plus, and I like the old school arcade games in the back.

This is good pizza. The decor and the seating leaves at little to be desired. But, they know how to make a delicious pizza, chewy, crunchy, greasy, and foldable. They have slices availble, but I think a whole pie tastes better for reasons I'm not sure of.

On our way to the storage, we stopped by here. Pizza capricciosa and wings. And it was way too much more than we needed :) We'll definetely come back when we are in the area.

I'd say this place is pretty good, not great. Usually my husband will stop by here on his way home from work and grab a couple of slices or a whole pie. Last night I called in a large cheese and it was about a 25 minute wait. The crust is thin, chewy and easily foldable. As a whole, the pizza is tasty, but greasy. It would probably be a good hangover cure. My husband got them to add some thinly sliced basil and that gave it a nice little something extra. The large pizza is 18" so half of it is still in my fridge today, guess I know what I'll be eating the rest of the weekend. This place is convenient and a good option if you're shopping in Westwood and looking for a quick meal.

Even though I had been here before and thought the pizza was OK the one other time we were there, the BBQ Chicken pizza my son had a couple of nights ago was simply the worst pizza I have ever had. Where to start? First of all, the pizza that was put on our table was a big, soupy mess. It was clear to both of us that the pizza was had way too much BBQ sauce, so much so that all of the ingredients were swimming around in a pool of liquid on the crust and literally had to be spooned onto a slice when you tried to put it on your plate. Secondly, the chicken that was served with the pizza was clearly cubed chicken taken out of a bag as opposed to fresh chicken prepared that day. Finally, the pizza didn't have any cilantro, one of the key ingredients in a BBQ pizza. This pizza was so bad, we'll never go back.

  • Laura G.

I love this pizza. It's thin crust, New York style, and you can throw on the toppings of your choice. The ambiance is not great, but I come here for the pizza. Also, I feel the salads are a bit on the pricey side; I wish I could get a slice with a side salad for a couple of dollars, but this is not the case.

  • Kyle T.

In terms of service, you never know what you're going to get when you walk in this place. The first time my girlfriend and I stopped in shortly after they opened, they were friendly, speedy, and wonderful to dine with. Less than a month later, on our second visit, we waited for nearly 50 minutes for our pizza because we'd sat out back on the deck, and they'd forgotten us. We haven't made too many trips back since that, but they seem to have settled into a pattern of decently fast. The pizza itself has been consistently good every time we've gone in, but it's nothing extraordinary.

Why are people always hating on my favorite restaurants? Yes, you could go up to the Junction and get some crappy Talarico's pizza, or you could come to Giannoni's and get some pipin' hot, east-coast pizza that rocks! The crust is hand-made and very tender, which is always a plus since I'm a picky crust-eater. The toppings are amazing: prosciutto! kalmatas! roasted garlic! We always call in our order for pick up, but on the occasions we've gone in, the service has been good and our pizza has been served piping hot. They've become our go-to pizza place in West Seattle, for sure!! Give 'em a chance, folks!

So - if you're looking for 'authentic New York Style' pizza, apparently this is the place. I wouldn't know. I'm an Los Angeles girl. But I do like my pizza. My husband and I decided to try Giannoni's after reading about it on the West Seattle Blog and these reviews. We decided on a full Pizza Bianca plus two green salads. We also decided to take it to go as the atmosphere in there is too "cold" for me. To pass the time waiting we headed over to Barnes and Noble for about 15 minutes. As soon as we walked back through Giannoni's doors my name was called. Good timing! The pizza smelled good on the way home, but it smelled suspiciously like kalamatas. The one we ordered was just cheeses and greens on an olive oil base. I decided the olive smell must be the oil. When we got home the bottom of the box was dripping with the olive oil. Not good, but we continued. We opened the box and wouldn't you know it, the wrong pizza was staring us in the face. I considered taking it back, but my husband was hungry and he didn't want to get back in the car. As I mentioned, the olive oil base was oozing off the pizza. Luckily I like olive oil, but I can see this as utterly unpleasant to many others. The crust was yummy and the toppings were good. As for our salads. They were the most basic salads possible and not cheap. I asked for Blue Cheese dressing and got one of those store-brand packets that I had to tear the corner off of - like you would get from Jack in the Box. My husband opted for the house-made caesar dressing. I wish I'd done the same. Perhaps they'll venture into all house-made dressings?? It's not hard -- I make blue cheese and buttermilk peppercorn dressing all the time. So, overall it was OK and I'd be willing to give Gianonni's a second try. What would I do different? I wouldn't get an olive oil base pizza, I'd check my pizza before leaving the store, and I'll make my salad at home.

First of all I hate to bash anyone, especially the independent business owners. But I have to be fair...I can't give a positive review if it's not true. I am from the east coast and I have had many a pizza pie in my time. Unfortunately, I have to agree that this pizza is not as good as it could be. It is "east coast" style but it lacks flavor in it's individual ingredients and the dough tastes like it was popped out of a can. Just because a pizza is east coast style....doesn't mean it tastes great. Trust me there are bad pizzeria's in New York as well. The pizza will pass if you are looking for something fast and non committal. Otherwise I would suggest Pagliacci's or Amante's if you want something that really tastes good and don't want to venture out of West Seattle. I have nothing to add regarding service because you can provide bad service if your pizza makes up for it. Pizza 101 If you expect a Chicago style pizza then don't go to a place that serves Neapolitan style pizza. They are two totally different beasts. Pizza an extremely versatile food. Do your research if you are looking for particulars.

I wouldn't order a slice to go, again. If I do, I'll ask for a paper plate. They put a sheet of wax paper directly on top of my gooey made to order slice (the paper fused to the cheese and was very difficult to remove) and wrapped it in aluminum foil.

*****UPDATE 9/21/07***** They lost a star for charging me $8.50 for a salad barely the size of a large pagliaccio. AND double charging me. They do have good specials, but I would pay EXTRA attention to what you're being charged for to see if it corresponds with the menu prices.****END UPDATE**** I really wanna give this place 3.5 stars, but we all know how it goes.... I know nothing about NY pizza or anything but midwest pizza, really. They serve on a thin crust at G, but I can't say it's any thinner then Pagliacci (oh god, please don't hurt me). The slices: made to order (wheeee!), texture once I home - soggy (not so whee), tasty, good variety for the toppings. Atmosphere: Nice! They have a garage door that they can open on sunny days. This afternoon they were playing hip-hop (not so whee for the older crowd, though I can dig it). Service: Not bad, though I do get annoyed when I see staff using their time to flirt with their girlfriends (or whatever) when people are trying to get their food in a timely manner. I know you're really young but when it's the dinner rush you should probably focus on the customer, homie. Can you please help the one chick who's actually working? Thanks. Stuff I didn't try: the calzones are pretty freaking big, but I dunno about $12 unless you can order whatever you want inside them, the salad choices look pretty effin' tasty as well. I'll be back.

This is the Holy Grail of Pizza in Seattle for East Coast transplants. I kid you not. This pizza is NY style pizza and it's damn good. So why only 3 stars? Despite the fact that this is by far the best pizza I've had in Seattle, the customer service was ATROCIOUS. We waited more than 10 minutes just to place our order to go despite the lack of crowd. It was just plain disorganization on their part. Once we ordered we waited for over 40 minutes to get our pizza because the first one made for us had somehow turned out badly and had to be made a second time. Now I appreciate that things like this happen, but it wasn't until the 2nd pizza was in the oven that anyone even spoke to us about the delay and it was the cook. The owner was chatting with friends, the cashier was... who knows. Not attending to us for sure. We barely got the tiniest of apologies. No offer of any kind of compensation for being forced to wait almost an hour for a pie to go. I was very irritated when I left as we'd already paid when we ordered I didn't want to wait to any longer to either get a discount or apology. I just wanted to go eat. I was of course prepared to hate the pizza... but to my surprise it was perfect - light thin crust, just the right amount of cheese, tasty sauce. I rarely eat more than two slices of pizza at a time since moving to Seattle, but I ate 4 it was so good. Just a simple Margerita. Delicious. Slices and pies were reasonably priced - $2.50 for a plain slice. $12 for a 14" Margerita pie. Now comes the tough part. Do I go back? Normally I'd say no. But this pizza.... it's so good. How can I not give them a second chance. I'll have to think on it. PS - They have limited outdoor seating for when it's nice.

Slices, sandwiches & salads...oh my! The best I can do is re-iterate the previous reviews. Great crust for this NY boy to enjoy. An honest large & big house slices. Hot sandwiches & large portions of everything. The one difference I have noted that TRUELY makes this a stand-out joint is that they roast their toppings. Why? So when folks walk in for a slice that only takes 3 minutes to heat in the oven it doesn't come out with raw crunchy toppings (pineapple/peppers/mushrooms... really benefit from this treatment). I will return, likely for a full pie.

  • David H.

Giannoni's Pizzeria serves "vera pizza napoletana." I cannot say that the authenticity rings true, but the crust is thin and, well, I am no pizza expert...so...your guess is better than mine. I can say that compared with Tutta Bella and Tribunale, this place seems more like pizza made at home. Good, but nothing fancy. Let's say it is nice to have a local place to get a slice.

Gooey cheesy mess! Skip this place.

  • Brad W.

Giannoni's pizza is definitely a hard fought attempt at a NY style thing pizza. The problem? It falls WAY short. The quality of the pizza is the biggest problem. The problem is that the pizza just never feels fresh. I've dined here a few times... mostly due to close proximity to my home... but the dough is made hours and hours beforehand, and pre-cooked. When you order, they toss on the ingredients and throw it in the oven for a few minutes. Definitely not the way you'd expect a fresh oven baked NY style pizza to be prepared. If you're looking for a quick bite and in the area, try them out. Otherwise, you'll likely be more satisfied ordering from Dominos.

We ordered a slice of $2 cheese pizza (made to order) and the tollbooth sandwich for lunch. The crust was crisp and thin. The crew there was helpful, patient, timely, and overall positive. I thought we walked in there just for a simple lunch, I was surprised by the quality and taste. Everything tasted fresh. Good pizza and yummy sandwich. I won't pay It's a small place, quick eat. We liked the garage door and the graffiti art In terms of drinks: it is self service water and canned drinks

When we lived in West Seattle we visited Giannoni's more than a handful of times. When they first opened, they were struggling making the pizza consistent. Overtime, they seemed to get a process down and the pizza improved. We have only ordered slices here and for the most part they were good, thin crust pizza with decent amount of topping and cheese.

  • Pink P.

I went for lunch the other day - $2 slices. Ordered a slice with kalamata olives (yeah!) - came up fresh and fast. NY style pizza (finally! this town os heavy with thick crusted pizza) that folds easily, and I'm not gonna complain about a $2 slice. Reminds me of (a cleaner version) our favorite 'za shop from home.

  • Trevor D.

Best NY slice I have found in Seattle. Super thin, big slices ripe for the folding. Reminds me of all the great pizza I've had growing up in western Connecticut. All the slices are made to order, which is nice, but I actually kind of like picking my slice from the trays of whats available. I may be alone in this, but I really like pizza that has been sitting on the tray for an unknown amount of time and then thrown in the oven again to reheat after you pick the one you want. Something about the way it comes out so exceptionally crispy on the bottom is what I am missing here since it doesn't go through that second cooking phase. Unfortunately Giannoni's is too far out of my way to come on any regular basis :(. This is a shame because I have yet to have a slice anywhere else in Seattle that even comes close to this place. oh yea, the price is great too. 2.00 for a cheese slice bigger than your face.

  • Jaime G.

Who ARE these people who are dissing my Giannoni's? This place is one of the best New York style pizza places in all of Seattle. And you totally wouldn't know it as it is tucked into some random shopping center on the edge of the hood in the far reaches of West Seattle. I have been to this place many times and the pizza is always good. It's not for nothing that they recently won the West Seattle Blog's pizza contest. The owners are super cool too. Try this place and you won't be disappointed. Me? I'm rollin' with Giannoni's 'til the wheels fall off.

  • Amy F.

So sorry Giannoni's! After reading all these reviews, I realize "I'm not ALONE!!" Ugh. To say it's New York style pizza is one thing, but c'mon! Thin crust? Yes, too thin, ingredients fell off. And I must say, being from outside of Buffalo NEW YORK, I KNOW my Buffalo wings. These ain't it! We went around 6:30ish pm and I think these wings were cooked at 11 AM!!! Totally dry, crispy and smothered in "Buffalo hot sauce." (That was their saving grace! I needed a wing fix!) But, since we ordered a 16 in pizza, there was plenty of time to cook up a FRESH batch of wings as well. :-/ Should I mention the THREE employees? I think I'm close to being older than all 3 added together!! And I'm only 41! Bless their hearts! They LoVED each other! No really, they were fine, I think the girl was NEW since she screwed up our order, but her 16 year old manager caught it!! :-) Not sure that we'll re-order from them, but who knows! Maybe our timing was OFF!

  • Mel W.

I've had my ups and I've had my downs with this place. When it first opened I was a regular here. Then, the downs. The pizza changed and the timing for my pies was way off. So much so I was given a free pie. Then another free pie because of the bad pie we had (on a changed recipe of what used to be our favorite!). BUT, the free pies were given without me even really complaining, and on my recent return to try again, they seem to have it back on track! So, I give them four stars for the tasty pizza, the cool space, and the usually good service.

I found plastic wrap baked into the edge of the crust. The service was glacial. Hope they can turn it around, as its a good location.

My better half and I had dinner at Giannoni's tonight. We were impressed not only by the pizza (which was mighty tasty), but also by the excellent customer service. The staff definitely went out of their way to help us enjoy our dinner. Even though much of that may be due to it being a brand new business, it's nice to know that there are still places that understand that good service paramount to the success of a business. Also, for $20, we got way more food than we could eat in one go. (We had a salad, some bread, a soda for each of us, and 2 slices of pizza each.) Not only did we get a great dinner for a great price, but we left having had our moods improved. We will definitely be returning and we hope that they are able to find a large enough base clientele to keep making us yummy pizzas. Edit: The customer service has gone downhill a bit and they've lost our order once and gave my pizza to somebody else the last time I went in. It's still really good pizza, but it seems that the staff needs to concentrate more.

I wasnt expecting much from this pizza parlor because it was in a mall. But I was pleasantly surprised and I am native new yorker so this is hard to do. As soon as I saw the slice I knew it might be a good. The crust was thin and it had a good share of toppings. While it wasnt John's Pizza in the village, this was really really good by Seattle standards. Finally a slice of pizza that you can fold over and they had all the condiments that I found at home including the dried garlic. And at $3.06 for a slice with a topping - you cant beat it.

Ate here a few times already. Pizza slices are big as your plate. Pizza is very thin. Breadsticks are served right on the tray. Two slices with two toppings and breadsticks came about to be about $10. Service was okay--they're very dull. One of the guys behind the counter had a cigarette behind his ear. I'm not big fan of pizza but it's good enough for me to come back again.

It is a solid 3.4 stars, could not round up to 4. Had a slice of 2 star pepperoni one day and decided to order a specialty pizza to give it one more try a few days back. It was ready in 15min like they said and was good, but not great. I thought it was a little expensive for what I got. There is better pizza around, but given the proximity to my house there is a good chance I will go back someday. It has zero atmosphere if you were to dine in.

Went in there w/my two kids & husband. Food is fine. WAY overpriced. $8ish for a salad. 2 liter of rootbeer & a 3 topping large, came to $30-something. Think you can get plates, utensils & cups for that price? Nope. Here's your three bowls. "Let me know if you need more bowls." "Well, there's four of us, so yeah." Paper plates, paper cups, plastic utensils. I paid way too much $ for that kinda crap. It's very disorganized. Very flaky workers. You really had the feeling that nobody was really paying attention in there. Not impressed @ all.

Thin crust - you need to eat these pizzas hot. If they sit around because you're late for your oder or because you had a long drive home, it won't be nearly as good. I eat here about twice per month, usually call ahead and take home. Sauce is a sweet more than tart.

After Red Star went on a hiatus, we've been DYING for a decent pizza place in W. Sea to call our own. This isn't it, sadly. And I really wanted it to be! Because I had a fantastic sandwich here a few months ago and the friendly owner seemed really interested in my feedback and experience....so I thought it was time to try out the pizza. The yelpers here had posted some pics of good-looking pie. And I (mostly) trust that. The two people working there tonight were really sweet. The girl with the pinkish hair at the counter was friendly. The guy who made the pizzas actually apologized for making one of them "too big." LOL. That's not a problem in our house, buddy. Trust. However, when I got home with the pizzas and started doling out slices, it was like some sort of practical joke. The slices were limp, thin, and slimy. The toppings slid off in a pile. I've honestly never had pizza this sad, ever. The slices were actually crying, big fat mozzarella tears, with hunks of pineapple and canadian bacon falling over themselves to hop off the trainwreck. My 4 year old daughter told me she was leaving home for better parents. This owner seems to care a great deal about her business. Perhaps this was a one-off with a newbie at the oven? All I know is I spent a good chunk of change on food that is now in my compost heap. And we're eating cereal for dinner.

I have had slices here a few times and they are always great and closer to NYC type slices than anything else here in Seattle. I thought I would write this since it seems like there have been a bunch of negative reviews lately. Not sure why because it's great pizza with perfect crispy crust every time I've tried it. I agree that it is expensive, but considering the shrinkage of slice size at pagliacci over recent years, I'll take these any day.

Wow, worst pizza experience ever! We live in the area and usually go to another place that's a good bit further so thought we'd give the local pizza place a shot. Like others our pizza was burnt, crust hard as a rock and it was a flat, tasteless pizza. The side that was supposed to be sausage was smashed to a pulp and honestly looked like something I'd give my dog. I've never written a bad review on Yelp but I can't believe how bad this was. We filled up our yard waste with this one.

Our service was decent. That is really the only good thing about this experience. We got a pepperoni pizza for dinner and there was much less pepperoni than we expected. The crust was thin and chewy. The cheese was thin and I didn't like the flavor of the sauce. I won't be returning.

Customer service was non-existent. The girl at the counter didn't smile or look at us during the entire order. While paying she left her drawer open and engaged in a conversation with another employee about change that she should get later, and we were not even finished checking out. The pizza was okay, the bread sticks were not good at all. They apparently have new higher prices that were not posted and when asked the differences, no clear answer was even given. On top of it, they placed our pizza on a counter between bottles of cleaning supplies which I know were not even supposed to be up there. I have included a photo of this. I think they heard us talk about that because it was quickly removed after.

Saturday night, pizza night for the family - since we were busy on Friday. We like to spread our dining dollars around and show love to all the local businesses. This time it was Giannoni's turn. My wife really likes thin crust, and they make about a 1/4 incher. Some kids also like a little sauce, and theirs is on the light side of the scale (for me). I call in the order and when we get done I'm asked to provide a credit card. I protest and am told that it is now their policy to take the card number for any order of 2 or more (to ensure you come). Man, that sucks if they have been burned so many times that it has come to that for them. I channel my inner jerk, give the blow by blow to my wife, and threaten everyone that I'm just going to go to Proletariat instead. I hang up but am persuaded to go to Giannoni's and order from the front. OK. So, I walk in and confess it's me, place my order - 2 large pizzas (margarita and a pepperoni) and pay (was it $47?). I turn around and run into friends heading out the door and turn them on to trying Full Tilt for their ice cream fix before leaving beautiful White Center for Beacon Hill. I walk over to QFC (being a new yelper I feel compelled to get some check-ins) to buy some 2L (sweet only $1 ea). Walk back and the pizzas are out and getting the basil and tomato added, post oven. Receive the two large boxes and notice they are a lot lighter then I was expecting. Nothing bad, I checked to make sure the pep was in the box before driving off (even got a photo of it in the truck). At home, I went with a slice of each. I like their pizza, always have. However, I like a little thicker pizza, and if I'm ordering a thin crust just for me, it's from Tutta Bella or some other wood fired oven. The pizzas have always been on the saltier side here for me, the family also pointed out that they were greasy. Hey baby, fat is flavor I say! The pizzas were good, if I were a critical reviewer I would say the margarita was overcooked. I like Giannoni's with a group, out on their patio, enjoying the Seattle air. For take-out, the majority of my orders go to Pizza Gallery - where they greet me by name when they see my phone number and when I walk in. I also love Proletariat up on 16th, and enjoy the family friendly vibe when dining in. For the local greasy gut bomb I'll head to White Center Pizza and Spaghetti House and offset it with a tasty salad.

Oh Yesssss! I love to find family business that happen not to be chains. The family that runs this spot, is wonderfully helpful, friendly and definitely brings spice to the pizzeria. Big fat slices of pizza at a decent price! Lots of selections to create that pie of choice. I love the atmosphere too. In the back, there is a wall that serves as a "garage door" which lets a great breeze come in and offers entry to outdoor seating.

We are new to West Seattle and were excited about finding a 'neighborhood' pizza place so close to the house. What a disappointment. The service was fine for take out but the pizza was awful. I'm not picky and rarely complain but I mean a w f u l. Frozen grocery store pizza is better. Ordered one of the special pizzas and it was barely edible. Fresh tomatoes - less than one slice chopped up. Chicken - a couple of scraps. Goat cheese and mozzarella - a cheesy paste that had the texture of canned parmesan. Crust was paper thin, the kind that when you pick up a piece it folds over like a wet piece of cardboard, AND it was burned. We always buy large for leftovers, this went in the trash. It was $25, total waste. Will never be back. Would be zero stars if possible.

Their pizza was ok. I had a sausage and jalapeño pizza slice. It took a while to get the slice because it was made to order. Then they locked up the bathroom because I guess a guy was sleeping in there for 3 days. Now, I don't get that one bit. How can you not see someone go into the restroom and leave? Or that they didn't clean the restrooms at any point. Will I go back, probably not.

Very surprised. My BF and I came here for the first time, not knowing what to expect. We were shocked, in a good way. What we saw, as we looked around when we first went in, vs. the service and food is why we were so surprised. But first, the food. We both ordered a small salad and a baked chicken sandwich. I got the antipasto misto salad, and my BF got the house salad. We got water - we're trying to stop drinking soda - and then went outside to the patio. We were in awe when the salads came out, because the place looked like a hole in the wall and we figured it was going to be like a fast food joint. The salads were big for being the small sizes, and the ingredients were all fresh and tasted wonderful. Then our chicken sandwiches came out, made with chopped chicken, bacon and a really great white sauce. They had been cooked in the pizza oven and were cooked to the perfect temperature and texture. We didn't think we'd be able to finish everything, but we did. I'm pretty sure it was because the food was so damn good. Aesthetically, the place is a dive and needs a lot of work. The unprofessional signs that are curling up on the edges that were posted years ago with tape to the drywall about how they don't make change no matter what so don't you dare ask, the bucket - yes, literal bucket - used for water with old, faded black permanent marker written on it making one feel cheap and also kinda like a farm animal as you fill your water glass, and the bulletin board with a hundred business cards for random people with another 50 that have fallen off and are laying on the shelf and floor are just some of the reasons why I mention this. The front of the restaurant gives it the appearance that there is nowhere to sit down, so be sure to look in the back as there are a couple tables in the far back and then some patio tables outside. Food: 4 Service: 5 Aesthetic: 2 Parking: 3

No stars for this place. I walked in to order a piece of pizza, and the young man who had just been sweeping the floor stops what he is doing, opens the refrigerator, and takes a piece of pizza out of the refrigerator with his hands. I could not believe my eyes. I said to him, "wait - you were just sweeping the floor and didn't wash your hands" - and he replied, "but I wash my hands all day." Enough said. (PS: I tried to leave zero stars here on yelp, but they require that you leave at least one star.)

S brought two slices home several months ago and I remember enjoying them, but today was disappointing. The service is very friendly and very fast, but something about the cheese slices my friend and I ate today did not agree with my stomach. The pieces are huge for only $3 and the slice is European thin so you have to fold or tear and eat. Not as easy as it sounds piping hot from the oven. My friend noted this and that it was disproportionately greasy. I tried dabbing some of it away but here I am three and a half hours ago still nursing an irritated tummy. S really enjoys this place but I fear I'll have to avoid it going forward. :(

This mom-and-pop local pizzeria is pretty awesome. The prices are very fair, the service is awesome, and the pizza is good. They don't have delivery but they do have take-out. They were even nice enough one weekend night to let us call in a take-out order 20 minutes before they closed and that was appreciated. I'm a big fan of the Pizza Marianna that comes with garlic, caramelized onions, olives, and fontina cheese. Yum! You also can't go wrong with their plain cheese pizza, and adding mushrooms is also delicious. They carry a giant selection of canned sodas (e.g. Cherry Coke) and some nostalgic craft sodas in glass bottles (e.g. Dad's Root Beer) too. They also have a couple rotating flavors of Full Tilt ice cream for dessert.

Excellent NY style pizza! I love Seattle, but man do I miss the pizza from NY. These guys make delicious pizza. Great staff, always friendly. Got a slice and a coke for under $5. Sat outside on their patio, perfect!

Do not eat pizza here. Sorry but im from the pizza capital of the world and Id rather eat cold 10pm pizza that sat all day at Rays in NYC then this ever again. They don't have pizza displayed or serve you fresh slices. The slices are in the fridge since the morning or so they say and there is no excuse for not serving fresh slices. Either way it tastes bad unless you are used to bad pizza. And a regular fridges up cheese slice is $3.39?? You got to be kidding! Thats worst than a NY SLICE. I used get 2 slices for $5 with a soda that makes you feel like you're in Italy. I do not understand why food is so expensive here when really there aren't so many customers. Bad pizza. Bad practices. Trust me dont try it. Ill let you know when I find a deceng pizza spot. Im on the lookout!

One of our family favorites! Great pizza & the best Antipasto salad I've had in years. Love the option to sit outdoors & order slices rather than a whole pizza.

I was excited to see Giannoni's Pizzeria pop up as a "NYC" style slice pizza joint. I was surprised I hadn't tried it since we've been living in W Seattle now for a few months. I admit I usually prefer Pagliacci when I think of "NYC" pizza but the W Seattle location doesn't do by the slice. So I dragged the hubby here on a Saturday afternoon before running some errands just to get some pie. I had expected to walk in and have slices hot and ready to go and be able to eat right away. I was wrong. We ended up getting a whole pie since it was cheaper than getting 3-4 slices (at about $3/slice). We were told it would take about 20 mins for the pie to cook. They don't offer fountain soda; only can or liters as a FYI. This was a little disappointing as there is nothing worse than having to 'ration' your soda so that you have enough for the whole meal when it comes to pizza. I also had ordered a side Caesar which was "fresh made to order." It came out first and the first thing that was 'wrong' with it was it was not tossed. I hate it when places make salad 'fresh to order' but don't think to toss it. They just pour the dressing on top and expect you to mix it in this serving bowl. Needless to say, I made quite a mess trying to get all the dressing to mix and evenly coat while not pouring out half my salad onto the table. It wasn't the best dressing or salad - I'd skip it next time. Our pizza finally came and it was just 'ok'. It is NOT NYC style. Anyone who has been to NYC or is a true New Yorker would tell you this is an insult to say it is. It's pizza. But it's not "NYC" pizza. The other odd note was he said he'd bring us plates as all the tables were pretty barren. As in they didn't have silverware or salt/pepper or anything on the table except Parmesan Cheese shakers and napkins. He brought us two plates to eat.. and they were paper plates. Not real plates since you're dining in but paper. And so naturally all the grease soaked right through the paper plates and my husband's plate looked like it had been mauled by a bear before it got out to him as it was missing a chunk with a hole. Maybe for other folks this is their 'go to place' but for me, it was a big disappointment and next time I'll try Red Star and see if they can get any closer to having a good slice of Pepperoni Pie!

I'm a New York City transplant and I approve of this pizza. In my long search for decent pizza in Seattle, this place is my haven. I know others from Brooklyn, New Jersey and Long Island who agree with me. The crust is thin, tasty and "folds well" (if u understand the term, you know how to eat pizza). There is not too much sauce and well roportioned toppings. Yes, it's a bit greasy which is why it reminds me so much of home. Places like Talricos that claim to have "east coast style" pizza are full of BS- this is the real deal. No it's not a fancy place, it's not hip (which means no hipsters which is a plus), it's just a back to basics pizza place. I have no idea what people are talking about when it comes to the employees. They are all super nice and the service is excellent. Yes, some people who work there may not be perfect but many are kids on their first job so give 'em a frigging break! Additionally, they give a damn about the quality of their product. Once they made me a fresh pie and some free extra slices because they weren't happy with how the first pie came out, it looked fine to me, just had a small hole in it. So forget all those fancy high end spots, ignore places that claim to have NY or "east coast style" pizza and just come here. If yer a Tri-state area transplant, this place is a must.

Even if the pizza was orgasmic, I'll never come back to this place. Waiting 30 minutes for 4 slices of pizza and a salad? Seriously? And how come the people that came in after us for theirs before we did? Screw this.

Went to this place cause at first glance the place had a cool vibe. I should have looked closer. Waited for 10 mins for our order to be takin. Ordered to salads and a pie. 45 mins later still no salad or pizza. Finally an under cooked pizza look alike came. Guy says, sorry i burnt the first one. So we had salads i say. Couldnt we have got them while we waited forever for the pizza??? And last of all the pizza was horrible crust was ok, sauce was red water, toppings all came off immediately to a puddle on the table. Dirty tables everywhere. Dude who burnt the pizza was in the back eating and texting while i watched. Just all out bad. Drive 2 mins away and go to proletariat in white center.

Great pizza in an almost nondescript location. Thin crust pizzas made N.Y. style, and delicious. If you order by phone, they are ready pretty quickly; waiting for a slice at a table can take time since it's made to order. My only minor complaint is that the crust is a bit too salty. Other than that, I highly recommend it, esp for west Seattle's community

My daughter and myself come here every time we are in westwood village for a slice of pizza! The staff has always been wonderful and the large slices of pizza are wonderful! I would come here more often but I am afraid that if my personal trainer found out he would really work my butt off!!

The people who work there are friendly enough. However, forgive me since I'm not from New York, but this crust is strange. It's a little flavorless. Kind of like...crunchy cardboard. Well, the edge is akin to crunchy cardboard. The part of the crust that's covered by sauce and cheese is doughy - as in, not cooked through. Which is odd because it's very, very thin. The sauce is an odd shade of red. It leans toward the orange and it tastes salty. The second time I went - yes, I went again - I asked for it to be cooked well done. And the crust was still doughy. WTF? What kind of dough doesn't cook? Especially when it's like .5 millimeters thick?! It's some kind of devil dough. If you value your soul, steer clear.

This pizza is my all time favorite I have ever had. The thin crust is chewy inside and crisp on the outside. The cheese and sauce is perfectly portioned and to taste. They don't skimp on toppings, which is always a positive. (I like tons of pepperoni). It will take a while to make but considering the delicious taste of the pizza and the bread sticks, I'd say its definitely worth the wait.

Hope you're hungry, because Giannoni's serves up one of the largest slices I think I have ever seen. For $4.39, you can get a customized single slice with your choice of up to 5 toppings. And it is the same price for regular and gourmet toppings. I ordered a slice with roasted garlic, mushrooms, caramelized onions, sausage, and fresh tomato. Unfortunately, they didn't put the tomatoes on my pizza and I thought they left off the sausage too, but upon closer inspection, there were indeed little specks of ground meat. It was a pretty greasy slice of pizza. We also ordered cheesy breadsticks, which were delicious. The marinara sauce tastes a little bitter to me. Overall, it is "a-ok," but I will make better choices about my toppings next time. On the up side, the customer service is always great. The kids who work here are friendly and hardworking. The walls are plastered with cool graffiti art and old movie posters, which give this place some personality. Bonus point for having vanilla coke!

Finally a good NY pizza. I was so sad when Picoras in capital hill closed, and now I have found a close runner up. Good pie !! Only down side is that they do not deliver. But they were very very fast, my order was ready for pick up in 20min after I ordered it.

    (5)
  • Jeff G.

A second visit to pick up a pizza for dinner was far less successful. The bored(borderline rude) girl behind the counter neglected to tell us it would be at least a 30 minute wait until after we'd ordered and paid. There were hardly any people in the place and when I asked about it one of the cooks yelled from the back that it was all pickups ahead of us. Maybe prioritize the in store people a little. The pie we did get was undercooked, and the sauce was tinny. I may need a third visit to make a final decision on this place.

Yeah, so... New York style pizza. It's a distinct thing all it's own, and I grew up eating it. In Seattle, so far as I can tell, there are only two places that get it right--Giannoni's and Big Mario's on Capitol Hill. We finally ate here yesterday, and I gotta say that Giannoni's edges out Big Mario's pizza. It's damned good, and weirdly the owner said they're not even from New York, but Southern California. Well lady, I don't know where you learned your New York style pizza, but you sure learned it. But really, it's just plain good pizza.

Great service, huge slices so the prices don't seem so bad. Almost all of the time that I've gone, the crust seems a little burnt or very plain.

I love New York style pizza. This place is the closest I've tried to the real NY pizza. Cheese slices only $2. Add toppings, any toppings for a bit more each topping. After trying this place out on my own for lunch I returned with my coworkers. My boss called ahead to see what would be faster to pre-order or order slices when we arrive. They said slices wouldn't take to long so that's what we opted for individual slices. We had a large group of about 12 people. Service was really slow. We ended up spending 1.5 hrs for lunch when we usually get 30 mins.

  • Nick H.

In the neverending feud between Chicago vs. NY style pizza, I stand firmly on thin crust NY side. And because of that, I love mom and pop style pizza parlors like Giannoni's. Aside from being just a NY style pizza joint, Giannoni's is actually a very good NY style pizza joint. I ordered a single slice here during my recent visit and decided to go with pepperoni, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and basil as my toppings. My friend ordered a slice of mushroom and green olives. Both of us were supremely pleased by the pizza. It's not the cheapest pizza I've ever had (my slice was about $4.50) but it's definitely one of the tastiest. Add to that the fact that the restaurant was playing great music and is decorated with amazing graffiti on the wall, and I'd say this was my ideal pizza experience (outside of actually eating in New York). I can't say I'm a Seattle pizza expert, but I do consider myself a great fan of good pizza...and Giannoni's is definitely good pizza.

While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
