I stopped here because I really, really needed to go the bathroom. I mean, really bad. I was halfway through my "let's walk four miles all over downtown Seattle so that I can tell myself I saw as much of it as possible" on my mini-vacay and Cherry Street Coffee House could not have been located at a better place on my journey. I asked the barista if it was okay if I used the facilities before ordering, which was a smart idea, because they have a key, and had I just dashed in I would have been foiled by the locked door and lost some precious seconds. The bathroom is really swank inside. And it's, like, a functioning bathroom. All good things. The coffee shop was almost completely empty, which I thought was strange for Friday at 5 pm. To justify my presence I purchased a big, fat blueberry muffin and ate it while sitting on one of their elaborate wooden benches, complete with lots of little throw pillows. It was a neat setting. Had I not been heading out for more adventuring, I could have camped there for a long time, reading and being hip. Cherry Street Coffee House seems well-suited for that purpose.

I need to knock down a few stars because the service is seriously getting sour! Everyone is just so rude, and Im a good tipper, so its not that..... Recently, I was given a bacon and egg wrap when I asked for egg and cheese. Im a vegetarian so I went up and (very nicely!) asked for a new one, the barista scoffed and said "well you ordered bacon! but sure..." Hmm....classy!

This coffee place is way overpriced. It's worse than Starbucks, and being that it's NOT Starbucks, which at least has fresh items brought in each day for its charge, how is that even possible?? $5.95 for four triangles of pita bread and a side of hummus? Are you loco? $8.95 for a small-ish sandwich and a bag of chips? Humph. Plus their largest drink size is 16 oz, and their chai tea tastes weird. I've heard the same about their coffee. The service isn't so hot -- they should definitely up the friendly factor. The seats are all hard wood -- no soft benches to be found. I don't know how people can chill out here on their computers when it's so uncomfortable. (p.s. I'll help you: not funny or cool, but yes USEFUL. Trust.) :)

Baked goods, quiche, free WIFI, coffee and tea? Yeah, this is a great spot to get some work done!

This was my last coffee on my visit to Seattle and I'm glad it was. It was a nice place to chill, people watch. I love the big windows, relaxed atmosphere. The espressso didn't disappoint.

Friendly and fast service, very good latte, delicious egg/tomato pita wrap and free wi/fi. What's not to like? Well, the music was way too loud and not to my taste, but I just put on my earbuds and away I went.

4.5 Stars I regret that I let so many years pass before discovering the joy that is Cherry Street Coffee House. The food is great, the coffee is fantastic, the atmosphere is soothing, and the staff are friendly...ish. Food: I've had the gyro, the hummus sandwich, and the famous homemade veggie burger. The gyro was much better than I expected from a coffee shop. My boyfriend loves the hummus and I thought it was really good too. I saw the online video about the veggie burger and had to try it. It was DELICIOUS, so juicy and flavorful, not at all dry and bland like most veggie patties. I recommended it to some friends and they were impressed as well. The food is very saucy and drippy so use lots of napkins and eat with caution! Cherry Street has some vegan items, FYI. My only complaint about the food is it can take FOREVER. The first time I ate here we began to wonder if they forgot our order. When they finally brought it over they told us they had run out of lettuce and sent someone to the store to buy more. Um OK, how important is lettuce? I wish they'd asked us if we would be willing to eat lettuce-free sandwiches instead of making us wait 20 mins. The food is worth the wait but I'd grab a premade item from the deli case if you're under a time constraint. Coffee: YUM! Dilettante now has a major contender for my affections. More on the coffee in my upcoming review of the 1st & Cherry location. Atmosphere: The fountain and Eastern decor are a little contrived, but I do enjoy the calm, tranquil space. The pillows tend to slide around a little on the benches, but I like the copper tables. Staff: The food takes longer than it should but the coffee is served in a timely manner. The employees aren't ultra friendly, but aren't rude or "too hipster for thou." Caveat: This location is no longer open till 10, it now closes at 9pm. No two Cherry Street Coffee Houses have the same hours. Some aren't open on weekends, and some close at like 4 or 5pm. Check online before assuming a shop is open. Also, I've seen a handwritten sign announcing the changing of hours at two different locations (including this one) so be prepared for changes.

Eh about the drinks here. It is a decent space in this area of Belltown near Seattle Center, but the drinks are a bit disappointing. Had a medium chai latte. Too sweet, even for chai. A good chai should have more of a subdued, somewhat foreign/exotic type of taste. This seemed a bit too manufactured. Had some coffee on a previous visit, which i thought was less than ideal. My barometer of coffee is if it is better or worse than Starbucks. Unfortunately it fell on the wrong side. On the bright side, they have decent wi-fi here which is the big thing going for it for me and the decor is appealing. Still, the drinks don't cut it. Probably would stick with going to Uptown Espresso, which has a couple locations a few blocks from here if in the area.

There aren't a lot of choices for coffee in this end of Belltown. Luckily this place does the trick. Free wifi. Good selection of baked goods/pastries (awesome chocolate chip banana bread). Even some gluten free items from Flying Apron bakery. Coffee is not my favorite in town, but on par with Starbucks. The baristas here are really nice. One complaint I have is the copper topped tables. While they look cool, they leave a metallic scent that is a little off-putting.

I gave it a couple chances, and it just didn't work for us. The coffee on both days (and during popular hours) managed to be both weak as well as tasting "off", paling in comparison by far to the different Starbucks in the area that I ended up (reluctantly) going to on subsequent days. Bad coffee is one thing, but the coup de grace was the oatmeal, which was easily the worst we've ever had, anywhere. It was somehow recooked, or we could not figure out how the consistency could have been possibly achieved, because it was inedible, and not even hot. The place was inexplicably busy and popular so I didn't bother bringing it back up. Perhaps we just had bad luck or ordered the wrong thing, because our friends had bagel egg sandwich type things which looked really good. Anyhow, we didn't give it a third chance.

Cute, conveniently located cafe. Extensive breakfast menu - tasty breakfast bagel sandwiches and breakfast pita wraps made to order. Decent coffee. Free wifi, plenty of power strips. Sandwiches are made with choice of freshly toasted ciabatta, pita, olive bread.

Awesome staff. Super, super sweet. Great location - right in the middle of the tourist area. Excellent window seat. The mixed berry smoothie was perfect for my fiances craving - the tuna sammy on ciabatta was delicious combo'd with an italian soda. The desserts of chocolate covered brownie and oatmeal raisin cookie were fabulous - brownie was a tad dry, but still a nice dessert to end a great lunch. The desserts alone brought us back in several times for cookies and italian sodas.

Surprisingly the coffee isn't very good but the food IS! Who would have thought that coffee and a gyro for breakfast would be so delicious! I wasn't sure what to eat for brunch one weekend and I was taken to Cherry Street Coffee (mornings require coffee) and I was very pleasantly surprised! The service was mostly good, and we didn't have to fight for a table! Is has a hidden feel, and you can sit in the bay window seat and watch people pass on the street while enjoying a delicious gyro (quite a large one might I add) and a cup of coffee. Their hummus is delicious too!! If you're looking for a place to grab a bite of good food that serves coffee this is the place. If you're looking for a new love of your life coffee shop to spend every weekend for hours on end as you wait for the rain to stop... this isn't the place.

I'm just like you. I wake up at 11:30 in the morning, kick a couple strangers out of bed, do a some light blacksmithing down in my forge, ram a couple rails of cocaine mixed with Xanax up my nose and then put on pants. Like you I also re-carve my ex girlfriend's name into my chest, keeping the memory alive, then put in contact lenses. Sometime around noon we both like to venture out into the slate grey bosom of a Seattle afternoon in search of coffee and X-rated video cassettes from the late '60s to mid '70s for our private collection. I get mine from a guy named Warren in Ballard, unlike you (because Warren doesn't let anyone who can't beat him in a knife fight into his basement and I know you don't have my knife skills), but I bet we both find ourselves at Cherry Street Coffee sometime in the early afternoons, pretending like we're having a second breakfast instead of coming down from those Xanny rails and starting to twitch. And sure, there are a million places to get a lox bagel or a floppy, salty pita wrap stuffed with thick-cut bacon and what might even be real eggs in this city, but because we're basically twins you say to yourself, "Damn, I bet those tattooed, asymmetrically shorn barista gals are just kind of hanging out at the Cherry Street Coffee over on 1st, waiting for me to show up in gym shorts and a baseball cap or a three-piece suit or a sick cardigan over a bone-white Hanes v-neck with my hair all corkscrewed and stupid looking and blood under my fingernails." And guess what, fellow Yelper? THEY ARE! Every day! Now, I'm not some kind of weirdo. I don't hang around and ask their names or anything, but when I show up with a fishing lure caught in the skin of my neck and a half eaten seagull in my bag and ask for a 12oz. cup of drip coffee and an egg sandwich, those girls are like lightning-fast, pierced little angels, always quick with a smile and never once saying something rude like, "You can't cry in here, sir, and your fly is down." Nope, I'm sure you've noticed that they just grin, maybe make a funny joke and then deliver your much-needed breakfast item to your table in a timely fashion, because they are perfect. Not like us, with our many flaws and fingernail collections and taxidermy. Just polite, well-mannered, industrious ladies who provide a much needed service to the community. So next time we're sitting across the room from each other, sexting pre-med Asian gals we met at QFC and writing in our pink diaries with the gold locks, why don't you swing on over to my table and say hello? We have so much in common it's a shame not to be friends.

I stop in here occasionally for an afternoon pick-me-up coffee and noticed they have a variety of freshly made, tasty-sounding sandwiches. So I decided to come here for lunch and I think I'll be adding them to my regular lunch rotation. I had a delicious falafel sandwich with hummus, romaine, tomatoes, pickles and homemade tzatziki sauce on warm pita. I washed it down with a fresh-squeezed lemonade (which was good, but too sweet for my taste). The prices are quite reasonable too--my whole lunch cost $10. I only have a couple complaints. First is the limited outdoor seating. On a beautiful day like today I would've preferred sitting outside. Oh well. The other issue is that there were a lot of flies buzzing around the dining area. None of them bothered me while I was eating, but it's still disconcerting to see. I'll be back to try more of their tasty sammiches.

This was a convenient place to stop while I went for a walk to the Sculpture Park. But I wish I would have gone somewhere else. The service was subpar. There was no hello and definitely no smile either. It felt like everyone in there hated their job! How awful is that? However, my latte was tasty and had a lovely leaf foam art. So I will probably give them a second chance and hope for the best.

I really don't know why it took me so long to go to Cherry Street. I'd always passed it by, but never went in. Til I started working in Belltown - mostly b/c I didn't know where else to go and also b/c I heard they have good food. So I decided to give it a shot & ordered some coffee - and it was great! A few days later I moved onto food items - fresh moz sandwich here, cup of tomato basil soup there, maybe some hummus...and it's come to be that I frequent Cherry Street at least once a week for either coffee or food. I likes it. And I'm happy to be working 1 block from the Belltown location.

Most of the stuff I like from "my" Cherry St, plus a really nice atmosphere. Soups, salads, sandwiches - all good. Coffee - good (still barista dependent, of course). If I lived in Belltown I'd definitely make this place a hang-out. Comfy leather or bench seating, tranquil and not-at-all-cheesy indoor fountain, wi-fi, etc. My only complaint is that it took an extra long time (IMHO) to get our sandwiches, especially given that there was no line and 2 people working at the counter. Was he hand-carving the falafel?

  • Kelly C.

I like Cherry Street, but it's not the best coffee shop in Seattle. While the coffee is priced and tatstes better than other corporate cafes nearby, the food at Cherry Street is horribly overpriced and really not that good, though it is one of the only places to get breakfast food in the area. They do have a good selection of gluten-free options, which is rare, and also free and reliable wifi, which is also nice. If you can stand the very loud pop and indie-rock music, it's not that bad of a place to stay and work for a few hours - but it's best if you grab your coffee and take it on the go.

Cherry Street cafe located right at the bottom of our condo was a great addition to the neighborhood. It was also nice to grab coffee on the way out in the morning. Staff is very friendly and they got it down to a science. Everything comes out quick without that feeling of them rushing and throwing drinks and food together just to get on to the next person. Food: I've only had a few of the items but really liked the Fresh Mozzarella sandwich and the Falafal. Fresh ingredients and really good. The sizes are cafe style so you won't get stuffed on the portions. Decor: They've done a great job decorating, it makes you feel right at home. Free wifi allows you to hangout a bit longer and get some work done or catch up on your latest Yelp reviews. In the summer they open the windows up and the breeze comes right in from the Puget Sound making giving it that fresh feel. Even as I moved away from the building I still continue to stop by when I'm in the area. Give it a try!

Love Love Love this place! What I look for in a good coffee shop is... 1. Good Coffee 2. Free Wi-fi 3. Good service 4. Comfortable environment 5. Good dessert selection What goes best with coffee? Sugar! I was so pleasantly surprised by this place. It looks a little commercial at first, but they are just as coffee shop-esq as one could hope for. I sat down at my own cosy little table with pillows all around me to drink my soy mocha... which was awesome. Not too coco powdery and not too sweet. Good mix. Then I grabbed my chocolate covered brownie and fell into an abyss of chocolate heaven. I was almost late for my hair appointment. It was SO good. Coffee and chocolate go hand and hand and when you have both... you are GOLDEN (especially if both are equally as amazing). I really like this coffee joint. I have my regular spots, but this is my new stop whenever I'm out and about. Sweet eats and Bomb drinks...

Its a bummer that the service was so awful on this visit. I have long loved Cherry Street and am not often compelled to write a negative review on anyone but the service this afternoon was truly disheartening. Often we will stop in to buy coffee cards for gifts for our peeps in the surrounding buildings. Normally its never a big deal. This afternoon I was treated so rudely and the persons attitude was awful. I asked to order 20 gift cards and was told he didn't know how to do it. Then he took 3 other people's orders. Finally he said he could run each one individually. After running only two cards he said I had to wait AGAIN to take another person's order. And then looked at me and said - well what do you expect. At that point I was already late to deliver the cards to our pals in the neighborhood and had to run. I think this is a training issue more than anything else. The coffee and location is still great. But to the mangers - if someone comes to your store and wants to buy $100 worth of gift cards try the best you can to accommodate them. And if not at least try to be nice about the situation.

Thought this would be a great choice for lunch after grabbing a coffee here in the AM. The place was pretty busy for take out orders so I decided to eat in. Placed my order for an over-priced sandwich, then proceeded to wait for about 15-20 min. in the lunch area. I had to go up to the counter to find my sandwich sitting there getting cold with about 4 others that were waiting to be claimed by other customers like me sitting in the reserved lunch area. Not a great system they got set up here.

I didn't eat anything here, just read a book with some coffee. Not the most comfortable of seats. i sat against the window in their booth seating with throw pillows which slid around. The coffee was good and they do have free wifi (what decent coffee shop doesn't these days?? well, besides the ones in my hometown of Sarasota.) Didn't love love the ambiance, but it wasn't bad. Yeah, nothing terribly exciting that makes me want to come back, but perhaps next time I'll try the food...

If a place gives me warm feelings every time I picture it in my mind, it must be good. They smile, they bring food to my table, even the coffee too, sometimes, if the casher has cleared the lineup. It's the extra little touch that shows they care. Their americano is one of the best, their sandwiches and bagels are excellent. I've been to many big name places specializing in bagels but Cherry Street beat them all. I just don't know how they do it. But I am taking 1/2 star off, if there is a way for just two small things. Their chai is too sweet. They have free WIFI, but they need to catch up with the internet times and lock down the WIFI with a password.

My ladyfriend and I are on vacation through the Pacific NW. Hooray. Today we went to the Sci-Fi museum. Super hooray! At about 7pm, we started getting really HAAAANGRY, so I opened Yelp on my iPhone and did a search for "vegan" nearby. Nothing came up other than a Chinese place over a half mile away. Nothing really when we searched for "vegetarian". So we kind of wandered around. Considered getting a cheeseless pizza. Considered getting sushi at a seemingly very un-vegan-friendly place. And then we stumbled upon Cherry Street Coffee House. We checked out the menu and talked to the super helpful lady-barista-cafe-person behind-the-counter and found a bunch of vegan options. We decided on the falafel (which we were told could be made vegan) and the brown rice and lentils (which is served with tabouli). Both. Were. Awesome! So good. Light, refreshing, and filling. We were no longer hangry. Why didn't this place come up on my search? Anyway, I wanted to make sure to post a review in hopes that maybe the key words used would help this place pop up in the future for other weary travelers. vegan vegan vegan vegetarian vegetarian vegetarian Did it work?

So whoever decided that opening up the Cedar/Clay location until 10pm nightly should be given a medal. Or sainted. Or something important. I could not be more tickled that I can get a cappacino and a slammin sandwhich until 10pm now. Oh, and free wifi. Basically like a mecca for any student in need of somewhere to study that isn't your house full of distractions. Only complaint, it's not open later!

Since I wrote this review, the espresso drinks have been a little hit-or-miss, and they are out of bagels every time I come. As in, I haven't been able to order a bagel since I wrote this review and I go at least once or twice a week if not more. Grr...

Went there, had a sub-par Chicken Salad sandwich and a drip coffee. The sandwich was underwhelming, the coffee was run-of-the-mill. People were nice, and wifi was snappy. There was a shortage of electrical outlets. As far as cafes go, this is nothing special, but since there are so many other good cafes nearby, this gets 2 stars.

We landed here because it was walking distance from the Seattle Center. Stopped in for some lunch. Plenty of room for six (3 adults, 2 kids, 1 baby) and they had pretty quick service which was nice since we were in a hurry. The barista (didn't catch is name) was pleasant. The cashier/food runner acted like we might be bothering her (no expression, just neutral). I don't know why but the whole Seattle coffee shop no expression "you might be bothering me" thing just doesn't fly with me. I mean, we're there as paying customers. Are we really that annoying? Whatever. Anyway, I got the Ham and Cheese breakfast pita. It was satisfying and tasty. I can eat a lot so I probably could have downed another one but at nearly $5 I elected not to. I also got an 8oz latte (all are doubles) and it was decent as well. I consider Starbucks the benchmark so every other place I try either goes up or down from there. This place was slightly better in regards to the coffee and food selections. The atmosphere was inline with the Belltown theme of young, modern, hip. The place has character. Now somebody go put a smile on that food runner's face.

I am thrilled that Cherry Street is now open until 10pm! Great coffee, friendly service. The desserts are a little pricey, but the tiramisu was totally worth it. The sandwiches are great also. I love the fresh mozzarella sandwich and the gyro. They will make cuban espresso if asked (which many other places won't do), where they add the sugar to the espresso first - very tasty if you like a sweet latte. Comfortable atmosphere, free wifi, and now open late night!

This was my last coffee stop in Seattle and it was a good one. Although it was very brief and I only ordered a drink, Cherry Street gets a vote of confidence from me. I came in right before closing and was in search for a coffee to take on the road. The atmosphere of the coffee shop was very neat, it was a cool little place. I could definitely see myself spending a morning there taking advantage of their free wi-fi and great coffee. On top of this, the girl that helped me was very nice and helpful in offering me more information about some of their menu items. I ended up ordering a Milkyway which was a fantastic choice. Not only did it taste great, it was presented in a fun way. I really don't think you could go wrong with any of their beverages. I should have picked up a bag of coffee to try out when I got back home... Oh well. I definitely recommend checking out one of their locations if you're in Seattle. Good stuff and seemingly, good people. What a combo.

This is "the spot" to hit in the morning (at least that's when I went). The coffee and breakfast options were great. I personally recommend the Lox & Cream Cheese Bagel. The service and atmosphere was awesome. Again, I went in the morning and most people popped in and out and a few people, like myself, actually sat down and enjoyed the day. I'm visiting for a week and I already don't want to go anywhere else for my morning ritual.

Great coffee and nice baristas - No Seattitude here! Come at close and they will give you free goodies!

  • Pierce H.

This place is an excellent choice for a quick bite or a drink. The staff is friendly and when it's not too busy the baristas will often take an extra moment to make a quick design out of the foam on your drink before cheerfully handing it to you. That's the kind of personal touch that makes me prefer Cherry Street over other coffee places where the drinks may be as good but you get a chilly wage-slave vibe from the people who work there. The food is also worth noting, I am a big fan of their BLT and falafel but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Cons: the waiting area is very cramped with little seating and right next to the door which can be unpleasant during the endless cold, rainy days. On the other hand, their main seating area is aesthetically pleasing and comfortable, if not luxurious.

This was my first stop in Seattle this wkd, I needed to stop at any cafe, for some grub and free wi-fi. This place is cute! Throw pillows on each chair, cute window area, posters and art all over, friendly staff, simple. I had the veggie burger, it was quite tasty, and the coffee was solid. I stayed a few hours and would definitely pop in again.

Rain or shine, still sleepy, with one eye open and funky hairdo created by Mrs. Pillow, I come here. I order my small white chocolate mocha; get the very delicious homemade chocolate cookie (I save it for the evening tea party with me and my cookie); I get my tuna sandwich; I get shiny smiles from baristas; I glance at their regular guy in the wife-beater, who always works from "home" with his laptop; and I walk away breaking my day with radiant positive energy that Cherry Street Coffee house cordially provides.

OK i feel really bad just giving them 4 stars but seriously they NEVER get my order right :( I have so much hope for them but a nonfat raspberry latte in a for-here cup is not really that high-maintenance is it? I LOVE their coffee and they are really welcoming with the free wi-fi for people like me who like to work mobile out of coffee shops. Order their pizza bagel with cream cheese or their gyros but stay away from their pita and hummus- they microwave the pita and it is very similar to uncooked dough in consistency.

A sure sign that fall is coming (boo!): I was craving chai tea this morning. And as I was early for my haircut at Phase 3 next door, I went into Cherry Street. I had to physically restrain myself from ordering a pastry to go along with the tea, since I'd already had coffee and a treat earlier (yes, my name is Alli, and I have a coffee problem!). But I did sit for a while and read The Stranger, feeling truly urban among the throw pillows and cool patrons. Chai was yuummmmm, creamy and foamy and very autumnal. The table was a little crumby, though, and said throw pillows had seen better days. But on the whole, a pleasant experience. Next time I'll come with an empty stomach and try one of their sandwiches. And bring my own table-wiper-downer.

I walked in just as they were closing. At 5pm. -1 star! They were out of drip coffee, so they gave me an Americano for the same price. That's like -1 star and then +1 star at the same time! And now we're going to take a break for a totally random side-story: I always chuckle that an Americano is watered down Espresso. Like us dumb Americans just can't handle the power of an espresso, and we were rewarded by having that pansy watered down coffee drink named after us. I can just hear that original redneck who's responsible for our national name being plastered to that drink somewhere like Paris or Milan or Florence, ordering himself a 'cup o' coffeh, pleeez' and getting that tiny little cup of espresso. It probably went something like this: "Whut in sweet jebus is this horshit? Wherz mah cup o' coffeh? Hey 'Lizbith, come have a looky here at what these crazy furreners call a cup o' joe!" *she makes exclamations in high pitched nasally voice* *he tastes it* *he spits it out" "What in the... you tryin to keel me? That horshit is hotter 'n blacker than the devil's sins! Hey, Peeee-air, or Virgeee-LEE-oh, or whatever yer name is! Gimme a REAL cup o' coffeh, not this here black death!" *barrista frowns and waters down the espresso* "Thats more like it!" The end. Anyway, the gals at Cherry Street were listening to the 80s rock Muzak station. I swear I heard Twisted Sister's "I Wanna rock!" when I walked by initially. Which is what brought me back. +1 star! They were out of sandwiches at closing time, no leftovers or nothing. -1 star.

I had to revisit my namesake cafe. :) Today, I ordered an 8oz hazelnut chai tea latte ($3.55), which was super delicious. This place had lots of indoor seating, free wifi, and most importantly, food options. I could easily see myself hanging out here regularly as a "third" place. (First place = home, second place = work, third place = cool hangout). Next time, I'll have to try their drink called the Milkyway, which is a caramel mocha. Yay! 5 stars for the location, abundance of tables, ambiance, food, and drink options.

I'm not sure if the guy was having a bad day, or maybe doesn't like well behaved children, or females in general, but when I went to order with a smile on my face, I was shocked, perplexed, and pissed off by the absolute look of disgust on this guys face. Never again.

Great ambiance (especially the music) and an always excellent Americano make Cherry Street one of my top neighborhood go-to coffee houses. And try the food if you're in the mood...there are many delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian options for breakfast and lunch. I'm a personal fan of the breakfast pita wrap. This is also one of the only places I've found in the 'hood that makes granitas, a perfect summer treat and oodles better than a frappuccino!

Yes. I have an addiction. You'd think slaving away for 3 years in a coffee shop would make me detest coffee...instead it's made me a total snob and shoot, I get embarrassed of my own orders. It's almost disgusting how picky I find myself having to be to make sure I get a decent cup of coffee. But I don't need anything complicated here to hit my coffee craving. Tall americano with a hint of vanilla. Splash of half and half and I'm ready to go. Bagel breakfast sandwiches are hot, filling, and beyond tasty. The falafel is delicious as well (but I wouldn't expect anything less from a Persian owner). The baristas are hit and miss, but hey I'm not perky at 9 am either. P.S. I love that the logo around the cherry is in Farsi. Represent!

Good coffee and great service. They offer a lot of bagel sandwiches and some pastries but it really depends on what day you go what you will get. The coffee, tea and chai are outstanding. Perfect foam and flavor. Wifi and outlets are easy to get to and during the day it's not really crowded and very comfortable. A good spot to grab a drink while walking around Belltown.

All they're missing is a couch. Other than that they've pegged it, and at a really great price. Naturally, they have got the chain thing going on but the perky baristas give the place a great energetic vibe. Pretty much what you want in a neighborhood coffee joint. Other Thoughts: I don't feel "crammed" Big windows Free WI-FI, of course

Espresso's fine (but not OMGs awesome). The baklava was tasty but a little dry. The wifi is relatively speedy and I was not hassled at all for sitting here for ~4 hours working on my netbook even when it almost got full seat-wise.

I used to like this place b/c I worked 2 blocks from there. Nice staff, solid coffee, good looking desserts. I really like going there on a rainy winter day and getting the delicious soup. Set me right for the rest of the day. However, since I switched jobs, I haven't been back. I suppose it served its purpose.

I like the atmosphere of this place, it just seems so laid back. i love the pillows on the chairs, it's rather chill. I also really like the hummus sandwich it is surprisingly extremely delicious. The coffee I had here was not all that great, but I would still go back and try again. I thought it was actually pretty quiet and I enjoyed reading my book here.

This is the place for great coffee and a nice breakfast / lunch menu, if you want that. As for coffee, they serve a custom blend of Dillanos Coffee ( Dillanos.com ). We had a really great experience here. There are outlets for computer nerds, and nice coffee tables with copper tops. The owner (as of Sept 2010) is Iranian (for ~5 years) and did all the decoration himself. There's Farsi writing on the walls (though I don't know what it says), and a nice rock garden inside. They also stained the concrete floor. I you want a subdued, comfortable, caffeinated experience during the day in Bell Town, this is the place.

The service is lousy, the neighborhood is dangerous and they are PAYING to show up first on any neighborhood you request restaurant info on in Seattle. This place sucks and the service sucks and the staff is stuck up and there was a dead cockroach in my sandwich!

I've been wanting to come in here each time I walked by with my dog or ran by it. The decor is beautiful, clean and much nicer than other coffeehouses I've been to. The toilet paper holder in the bathroom is cool! So I finally entered after finishing a McDonald's meal, and got the perfect parking spot diagonally on Clay. Along with the exquisite decor comes great music- i.e Iron & Wine & Beastie Boys. They laughed; they're nice. Good peaceful, relaxing ambiance with free wifi. The view's also beautiful when you walk out and sit on a rock--can see the water. O yea, next time I'll have more than sparking mineral water. Too stuffed from McD's...

I lovvvvve Cherry S. coffee house! They are my Favorite in the area. Here are my likes and dislikes: Likes 1. Very tasty food for a coffee shop. It looks very healthy too. 2. Good and friendly stuff 3. Free wi fi 4. Location is perfect 5. I love how the inside feels and look....the big windows=) 6. Even if they are busy, once u order, u will get it fast. Dislike 1. Coffee doesn't test that good...(it looks and smells good tho) 2. a little pricy 3. No music=

I went there during my visit to Seattle. I tried just a plain ice coffee and veggie sandwich. Normally, I'm a cream&sugar in my coffee kind of gal, but this coffee was SO smooth, I didn't need to put any cream in it. If you love your coffee, you MUST try it.

This is easily one of the loudest coffee shops ever. I would not recommend this place if you are trying to do a phone interview - thanks for understanding phone interviewer! Oh well, all that banging around means that they are at least tamping the grounds and making a well crafted cup of coffee. They also have free wi-fi and some pretty tasty food for a coffee shop. Soups, sandwiches, definitely more than the usual selection of scones.

  • David H.

Had the wonderful company of Michelle B here @ Cherry Street this afternoon. Had the lentil soup. It came with nicely toasted, buttered bread. I left no crumbs nor droppings of soup. Yum. I did not try the coffee. The place seemed a bit warm, but I was wearing layers, as I work in the elements.

We needed a fast, vegetarian lunch. Less than $11 got us two hot, delicious servings of Borek. The folks at the counter encouraged us to get free glasses of water instead of buying bottles, so aside from the tip, that was the total cost! The servings were ample, and more filling than one would guess. Borek, by the way, is flaky dough surrounding spinach and a bit of feta. These were particularly heavy on the spinach, which made them all the better. Read the other reviews for opinions on coffee. Atmosphere was friendly, all was clean, and the borek was great.

Just a short skip away from the water and bustle of Pike's Place is the best tuna sandwich I've ever had. It was on warm crunchy and salty pita and had fresh taste of lemon, cilantro, red onion, and a hint of creaminess. Paired with my delicious cappacino, it was perfect. One of many Seattle locals - can't wait to find the others. Free wi-fi and great decor too!

In the coffee capital of the world, it stands to wonder why anyone would return to this location. There are numerous competitors all within walking distance to this establishment that seem to have mastered not only the fine art of coffee crafting but customer service. This location supplies neither. The staff is more interested in chatting it up with friends than tending to the line of patrons patiently waiting. Once one is acknowledged, the demeanor to which you are subjected to is that of inconvenience. When you question their behavior their excuse is "I'm new." So if one is new, wouldn't you be more attentive? polite? people oriented? Where do these establishmnets find these inept personnel? Not only was I overcharged, I was not given the food I purchased. I had to return to ask for it. Additionally, the employee who forgot to give me my food implied it was my fault for not reminding her! Really? I sincerely hope the proprietor of this location is paying attention. I will be passing my experience along and it would appear that my business will be given to Uptown from this point forward.

Not only is this neighborhood coffee shop serving great coffee (all sizes come with two shots), but the staff really is top notch and love their jobs! Great news is this cafe will stay open until 9pm starting April 1st so we can all get our caffeine fix on later!

I second the guy who liked the soup at this place. It's delicious, and the buttered bread they serve with it is the best bread-served-with-soup I've ever had. The service wasn't overly friendly, but friendly enough and competent. This will definitely be my neighborhood coffee house of choice from now on!

I come here about a dozen times a month because I work in the area and use to live a couple of blocks away. This place has a unique atmosphere that is comfortable, aesthetic, and pouring with natural light. Very feng shui. They offer free wireless, plenty of outlets for your assorted electronics, and are open until 10 pm. The menu is rather diverse for a small coffee shop so I find myself eating here often. The quality of the espresso they serve, unfortunately, is rather inconsistent. One of every 5 cups will be slightly burnt tasting. However, the drip coffee is good every time. The staff are introverted like the rest of Seattle and I'm used to that so I don't interpret their lack of fake chipper small talk as insulting. They are never overtly rude and will respond politely to anything you tell or ask them. One complaint is they charge 30 cents for every transaction under $5, which is kind of annoying but doesn't, for me, discourage me from ordering my latte since the prices are very competitive after the 30 cent charge anyway. I would definitely recommend this place to locals and tourists alike.

im not a coffee snob and rather prefer youre everyday 3am, bottom pot, diner sludge to a fancy espresso in a ludicrously sized tiny cup anyday. for me a cup of jo is just something to start the day with. that said, when i judge a coffee house i base it on the other features that make a place worth revisiting, ambience, service, etc. cherry street coffee house is definetly a place that offers you just a bit more than your average starbucks. for one the baristas certainly have an interesting look to themselves (what is it with this city, do they hire these people on sight alone?), all tatted up and multi-colored hair and all. one chick even had a bleached blonde 1960's bob haircut. it reminded me fondly of my days living in john waters' city of baltimore and its distinctive "hon" culture. so the atmosphere is pretty cool and laid back. its got comfortable little tables and is a good place for conversation with company. its the kind of place you dont have to feel awkward about speaking above a din in the face of the mass of laptop users (free wireless!). the menu, which ill admit i didnt try, looked diverse and interesting. my chai tea (2 bucks for a medium) was warm and welcoming and served up fast. the negatives were the usual for these more upscaled coffeehouse types: small sizes, over the top avant garde crowd and prices out of whack for a cup of coffee. but most of you seattleites probably wont bat an eye at that anyways.

This is what the coffee scene should be. Cherry Street is a nice little coffee bar with helpful staff and a laid-back, neighborhood feel. Coffee isn't overpriced and is served in a mug if you plan on staying. There's comfortable seating if you plan on hanging around to read. I believe there may also be free wifi.

I really wish I could give out 4 and 1/2 stars because the coffee here is excellent. The baristas know their stuff and the foam is some of the best I've ever had. Definitely the best in the neighborhood (also see Top Pot). As an added bonus, the last time I went in the barista was wearing a Slayer Reign In Blood t-shirt.

Here There is no Customer Service because there is no Customer. We are building individual relationships through mutual respect And forging a great community through the fire of Love. -Ali Gotta love any coffee shop totally covered in postcards of weird inspirational sayings, written by the owner and decorated with what looks like Magic Eye art. Plus they have good coffee and the baristas have good hair.

I am a huge fan of breakfast sandwiches. Believe it or not, they are hard to find in Seattle...unlike NY. They have delicious bagel sandwiches and the rest of their menu offers a variety for any appetite. Their seating arrangement is comfy as well. The staff is really friendly and the music rocks.

A coworker and I stopped in for lunch to go. The cashier was indifferent from the minute we entered. She seemed impatient when I asked about the day's soup choices. Although there was no one in line behind us, she was in a hurry to collect my money (twice) before my coworker had a chance to order coffee (same transaction). The seats across from the cashier's counter were taken by others waiting for their orders, so I sat on one of the benches with pillows (still near the front). A few minutes later, we heard her telling a customer (across from her) that they were out of wheat bread, but did not speak to me (I ordered my sandwich on wheat). Several more minutes later, she yelled out my order. We went up to the counter to find that my coworker's coffee had been sitting there and getting cold. We left without commenting. When I got back to the office, I found a completely different lunch in my brown paper sack... no sandwich.

i love this place. i love the "lack of customer service". it inspires the baristas to get to KNOW you. i developed real relationships with the people who worked there, and they became more warm to me because they got to know me a little. i used to work in the area 4-5 times a week. now i just work there once a week, so i go there alot less. but the coffee is good, the food is good, and you never have to hear them go on about the days special or try to sell you anything you don't want. i do have to complaints. # 1, they are often out of stuff i like, and #2, they have raised the prices so it's a bit to pricey for the lunch items. I probably just need to make more money, though...the food they have is pretty healthy AND tasty.

Meh. Ok. I hate that Yelp applies a blanket of "cheap" to stuff under $10, because in my book, unless it's a burger, $8 for a sandwich w/o chips or drink or any other veggies is pricey. I walked in, stared at the menu, and then placed my order: tuna salad on olive bread. I was feeling adventurous and none of the other breads peaked my interest. A few minutes later my neatly wrapped sandwich was plopped on the counter with a slight head nod in my direction. I asked if it was mine and she nodded, I grabbed my sandwich which to my surprise was pretty warm. Hmm I wondered as I walked back to work, did they mix something up? Nope! What I got was two pieces of toasted olive bread, tuna salad mix ( from I what I can tell tuna, maybe mayo and tarragon), and sad lettuce. I call the lettuce sad because although it was crisp it was kind of beat up. Oh well, the sandwich was ok, yup just ok. For those who like it really simple, no tomato or mustard on the bread, this is for you. I still want to see where the other $5 of my money went....I can see why this place gets great reviews, it is a hangout for folks. I always see people standing outside sipping coffee and chit chatting. Great food? Well that remains to be seen, err tasted :)

I love their breakfast sandwiches. I hate walking up clay to 1st. It's a constant battle - my fatness vs my laziness. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CHOOSE?! Well....fatness usually wins. And then I just hope and pray that there's someone ordering a coffee in front of me (but not the last croissant cuz those things are omg so gooood) so that I don't sound like a freak when I'm ordering my food. Think "I...*heavy gasping*...would like...*desperate wheezing*...a bacon egg and cheese...*mutters omg I hate that hill*...on a croissant please" and if there's no croissant, insert some whining and then insist on a bagel. Minus one star cuz the workers never seem to be in a rush, but it let's me catch my breath before I roll my rotund self back down the hill to my condo. Also, I love their mochas. Fatty mcfatfat wins again!

First time visiting this location for lunch and I was pretty happy to see several good sandwiches choices for vegetarians. I had the house-made veggie burger, about $9, fresh and pretty tasty. It comes with veggies and cheddar, but I opted for mozzarella and am glad I did, melted nicely into the patty. The place is darling, service is sassy and energetic and the lunch crowd seemed pretty into the menu. I didn't have the coffee but I would certainly return, nice vibe in this location.

Whatever coffee shop I go to, I always order an iced coffee with white chocolate and room for cream. With that said, I think the coffee here is mehh. I've given it a couple try's now, and I just am not a fan of their iced coffee, I think it tastes like ass... Plus the last time I was there the barista said she could not do iced white chocolate because it's a powder and not syrup.... Which is ridiculous because with a little common barista sense, you should know to use a little bit of hot drip coffee to mix and dissolve the powder, then pour it into the iced coffee... But to be fair I have not had their espresso or any other drinks, that could very well so be delish;) But on another note-- The food here though is phenomenal! I love the lox bagel and the breakfast pita, suuuper yummy! And the ambiance is nice and great for posting up to do some work.

I find myself stopping by here at least several times a week during the course of my workday. I love the fact that there are always open parking spots on the street here (unlike the Cherry Street Coffee House that is also on 1st but closer to downtown). As far as the coffee goes, I pretty much always order the same thing...americano...and it is great here, much stronger than the big green chain coffee place, and much better. I also happen to think that they have excellent baked goods. Usually cookies wrapped in saran wrap are a red flag for me, but not here...they are very good...particularly the white chocolate chip with cranberries and the peanut butter cookie. Their raspberry bars are also delicious and quite a treat. I didn't care so much for their lemon bars, which were more like lemon cheesecake bars (I prefer the lemon curd type). But in general, this is definitely a good place to break your diet with a nice baked good to go with your coffee. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is that I feel that their lunch items are excessively pricey...but that just might be the norm in Belltown...but I still don't want to pay that much for a sandwich. Also, the service is great and very friendly! Love this place.

I've only been in Seattle for a week and I keep finding these little gems. After breakfast at CJ's I thought hmm I think I want a mochachino from that BIG company with the funky lady as the logo until I walked into this little place (cool middle eastern decor) I got a blended mocha drink (they have their own name for it) and I looked on the counter and guess what I saw. Come on, wait for it................. Ok, CHOCOLATE CHIP BANANA BREAD! Ya not big deal for some but this is a better combo than peanut butter and chocolate for me. OUTSTANDING! You get a 6th star for that. Thanx, Paul.

Really great coffee place. The baristas really listen when you try to custom order your drink. I have recently "escalated" to quad Americanos and shot in the darks, and this place has consistently delivered good coffee. Way better than starshmucks. Their falafel sandwich is really a star menu item.

Three possibilities: -I'm on vacation in Seattle so everything tastes better -My coffee palate is becoming more discerning -Cherry Street is *just that good* The iced coffee is liquid magic. I've never tasted iced coffee with such a perfect natural caramel tone. I added just a little cream and the result is literally the best iced coffee I've ever had. I am not exaggerating. If you are as a big an iced coffee fan as I am, you can't miss this place. :)

Awesome service and if you're a regular, they all know your name. They do a great breakfast pita or bagel, solid coffee, and usually have a good soup too. Really good veggie burger too, it's not like a dense rubbery boca burger.

The sandwiches and coffee taste great here, it's never packed, and they play music like Destiny's Child, Outkast, and 2000's Justin Timberlake! The girls who take the orders are really nice and pleasant, but the food comes out slowly. I waited 10+ minutes for two sandwiches (one was a cold sandwich) which seems a bit excessive, right? Especially because they weren't making anything else.

I stopped into the Cherry Street as I was walking, unbeknownst to me, in the wrong direction. I was tired, cold, and in need of some coffee to warm me up and give me some energy. We walked in and were welcomed and ordered quickly. The place is really cute, with a middle eastern feeling. Like you just entered a warm and inviting Turkish Coffee house, sans the pillows on the floor. The coffee was good and the service was friendly. In fact, as my cutie and I were discussing directions to our destination (see glassblowing class) and having a android/apple map/direction conversation, one of the nice guys who work here stopped and helped us out, he also worked at the Glassblowing studio and gave us some good intel on how to get the best from our class... I hate to say that my apple iPhone sent us waaay out of the way... but, that is a different issue. We were redirected and sent off in the correct direction, warm and ready to carry on.

Stopped in here for a quick breakfast before a full day of exploring Seattle. They had a nice selection of drinks and breakfast items. Ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese and lox. Only thing I didn't like was that it had capers on it. I discovered i really dislike capers!

Specialty sandwiches that i can see a vegan drooling over. However my taste buds don't follow that diets curve. So the exotic taste falls short for me. The hum drum and "over-this-guy" enthusiasm of the employee as I stumbled through the menu didn't help either. I won't go back.

Very convenient location and friendly staff, HOWEVER, I've had too many substandard experiences here. - Coffee. I watched the barista pull the espresso shots for my Americano then turn around to work on another drink. After 5 seconds the shots were completely black and bitter, yet 30 seconds after that is when she poured them into my drink. Yuck. Pulling good espresso shots is the most important part of learning to make coffee. - Sandwiches. I ordered a Feta Basil sandwich. The gentlemen began making it then turned to tell me, "Hey we are out of basil but I can sub in some sprouts for free!" I'm sorry, but nothing can really substitute the basil in my Feta Basil sandwich. - Breakfast pita wraps. I ordered the Tomato/Basil/Egg/Cheese wrap WITHOUT the cheese. I received the wrap with cheese in it and when I kindly pointed it out, they were hesitant on finding a solution. They stumbled on their words and didn't offer to remake it. At least apologize. - Bagels. They have the best spreads for your bagels, but get there early because they run out of the good stuff fast. - Soups. They have delicious soups!! The only downside is they are over $6 for about 8 ounces. - Seating area. Pillows on benches, a cool idea but not comfortable. Free Wi-Fi and a good amount of outlets. This place has it's ups and downs, but two blocks down is a cozy shop called Drip City, check it out: punch cards, beer, happy hour, Wi-Fi, great coffee, TV, couches, piano, dog friendly, etc.

The thin, tatooted guy working there is a wise guy who needs to be reminded that he's representing someone else's business interests. During my experience with him today, this guy's attitude was going against the interests of the business owner. This guy needs to be kicked to the curb and replaced with someone who values having the opportunity to earn an income.

Starbucks is everywhere but in Seattle it could actually be considered your local coffee shop. As tempting as it was to visit the original Starbucks (I did walk past it), I wanted local that was foreign to me and found Cherry Street Coffee House. It was small, quiet, comfy (the bench seating could have been comfier but it had pillows) and staffed with friendly people. The girl taking the orders made sure to ask every customer what they were going to do for the day (where do they do that?). It is truly a terrific spot for a first date, to enjoy a book or simply to get that caffeine fix. Speaking of caffeine their coffee is off the chain! I ordered a Latte and without any sugar or additives, it was rich and full bodied. My boyfriend had a Bacon, Egg and Cheese. Crispy bacon, egg and melty cheese on fresh toasted bagel, yum! I had the Lox and Cream Cheese Bagel and was blown away. It is my favorite breakfast sandwich but I haven't had one in a while and was very impressive by the house cured lox. Get it with an everything bagel like did. We also ordered a Coffee Cake that was fresh, fabulous and not too sweet. I wish I lived in Seattle so I could go to this coffee shop everyday!

I was a regular here when I lived next door in the Ellington building so I might be a little biased in my opinion, since I have a sentiment for this place. Their banana bread is simply delicious. They make pretty good soups as well. I like their ambiance, they even have a water fountain inside the coffee shop. If it is a nice day, relax in one of their patio chairs and take a dig at people walking on the street

Coffee: Five stars for the coffee. Food: Saw the announcement on Yelp for the home made vegan and vegetarian items so I had to give it a try. I totally applaud them supporting vegan and vegetarian diets and think that they did a pretty good job on the Vegan burger. You do need to read the menu to make sure that you do not inadvertently get non vegan items (mayo and cheese) in your food. The burger had good flavor but was a bit mushy on bot the outside and inside for my taste. If I have it again I will ask to have it cooked more which should help. I will be back again and will probably even try the vegan burger again.

Hard to find anything not to love about this place! Currently enjoying hiding from a drizzly afternoon (while working on the free WiFi!) in Cherry Street Belltown's happy little Mediterranean-themed cafe. Today's eats are a coconut curry soup and falafel sandwich. The cup of soup was hearty enough to fill me up on its own -- good coconut base, curried for zip without being overpowering, and lots of shitakes, carrots, spinach and tofu to fill it out. The falafel is crunchy without being over-friend, and the veggies are fresh and good! No coffee for me this time, but if you're looking for a quick and delicious lunch, this is a great option!

5 Stars for the bacon, egg, and cheese pita wrap. I honestly wasn't expecting much when I ordered it, but was very pleasantly surprised, to say the least. Stuffed with a generous amount of fluffy scrambled eggs, thick bacon pieces, and melted cheese--it's a classic breakfast combination; but way better wrapped in pita bread than sandwiched between an english muffin. I ate half and saved the rest for my boyfriend so he could experience it's yummy goodness, but he was five minutes late so I ate the rest and loved every last bite! It didn't matter; he swears by the sausage, pepper, egg, and cheese wrap instead. 4 Stars for the coffee. The Milkyway and Caramello are flavorful without being ridiculously sweet. They're also pretty consistently made, at least at this location. 3 Stars for the actual interior. If you're hanging out for a hot minute, the sit-down area is lovely...the booty-bruising benches are not. Pillows are there for your bottom-cushioning pleasure, but: a) they slip on the seats b) it's a little weird to me to sit on random throw pillows. If you're on the go, their tiny lobby area gets pretty full with patrons standing in line or waiting for their drinks. And you will wait...which brings me to... 2 Stars for execution. Drinks take forever, with no apparent change of pace whether there are two people waiting or seven. There are usually three people back there working each station (cashier, drinks, food) so I don't get it. If you're keeping tabs, this brings us to an average of 3.5 stars. I bumped it up to a solid 4 since the products are solid, service is friendly, and there's nothing offensive enough to keep me from coming back.

Super cute little cafe, had a decent tuna sandwich here and the service was awesome. I'll be going again for sure, but it's not really anything to cry home about.

First timer. Good soup and sandwich. Tasty! Feel it's a bit pricey ($10 for half sandwich and soup) . Seating is good but it's all on wooden desks. Some comfy couches should be added

I came here with a friend for breakfast before heading to all the tourist traps within Seattle. It's a cute little cafe full of posters all from Seattle. The latte was awesome (however, you can't go wrong with any of the coffee places within Seattle). We both had ordered a bacon, egg wrap. However, they gave us a bacon, egg bagel. The service was awesome - they were really nice about it and gave us the right order. The food was good -- great hangover food if you're looking for something greasy the next day. Nice place to chill at as well.

Best coffee ever. Truly handcrafted with expertise and quality. My new favorite Seattle coffeehouse. Delicious bagel sandwiches, as well!
