Espresso is alright, nothing really stands out. They do get extra points for the vegan/vegetarian food options. Their hummus, mozzarella, feta or falafel sandwiches for lunch are awesome, and try the everything bagel for breakfast- you'll be full all day. They also have perfectly made spanakopita, baklava, and a good selection of quiche. I don't like the layout or atmosphere because there isn't enough room when ordering in that weird little space and the seating is old and uncomfortable. Take your food & drink down to the park or water.

I love their stupid caprese sammich so much but today was pretty much the straw in the shitty service camel's back. You know, it just gets old giving my money to unpleasant assholes.

Went here before our Underground Tour. Not familiar to the coffee house scene as I'm not a coffee drinker at all. My girlfriend is so we stopped in. The gf ordered a coffee and scone, while I got an OJ and a bacon/egg/cheese pita wrap. The wrap was made to order and delicious. It was a fairly inexpensive breakfast and both were pleased with what we got. The place was a really nice location. The interior and set up reminded me of some coffee houses I visited while in Amsterdam. Definitely recommend!

Thank you lady at the front desk of our hotel. We were about to hit up a Seattle's Best Coffee for a quick breakfast, when she recommended going down an extra block to see if this place was open. It was and we went on it. I ordered an egg, bacon and cheese pita wrap. It was sooo good! Freshly made--still warm out of the oven and actually could tell it was real eggs. :) My bro recommended the chicken salad sandwich as well--he ate it too fast before I got a chance to try it. Maybe next time.

I'm a coffee hater, so :( sorry this might not be a helpful review, but their sandwiches are soo good!!! I'm talking about their sandwich with mozzarella and tomato, with balsalmic vinegar... It makes me sad that I don't work or live anywhere close to this place anymore because I can't stop on by and get their sandwich in particular. I've also tried their lox bagel which is amazing. They have quite a few choices for bread.. but make sure to beat the lunch rush or they might be sold out of your preferred bread choice. The customer service here is also great! Pioneer Square has a neighborhood feel and you definitely get it from this store. The workers there will tell you some great add-ons that will make your sandwich even tastier... i.e. mozzarella tomato sandwich with bacon :D ...... The owner is also extremely personable in a good way. If you're lucky you'll get to experience him hah!

WOoooooooowww! Just got home after visiting this place, and I'm blown away by how negative the experience was. I work in the service industry, so naturally I find yelp annoying, and the nit picky pretentious people who typically write bad reviews irritating. But this is the second time I've visited and gotten totally shit service. If I treated customers like that I'd be fired in an instant, clearly the owners of this place don't prioritize customer service (maybe their coffee is good? I dunno). The guy at the register was surly at best, I said "hello" and he just looked at me.... uh ok... I ordered and then stood around waiting for my food, no information as to where it will be placed, they didn't take my name. I stood there until an employee in an irritated tone pointed out my food (not sure how long it was there). I asked for a bag w/ handles as I'm precariously juggling other things, and I get a grunt and I'm pretty sure an eye roll, and she hands me a tiny brown bag that wouldn't even come close to fitting any of the shit I just bought (that she just made), it was such an obvious 'fuck you'. I just walked out in disbelief, I was the only customer in there, was I really such a pain in the ass for asking for a bag? Are they closing in five minutes or something? Maybe I'm just jealous that they are allowed to treat customers that way, and I have to be nice to everyone whether they are douches or not. I've worked as a barista many times in the past and wouldn't have gotten away with it then either. The girl on bar was nice she actually asked me if I needed anything, what a novel concept! I hope she gets a promotion :) anyway never going back to that location despite loving their food.

I was really hungry because it was 3pm and I still haven't had lunch yet. So I walked into Cheery Street Coffee House and asked the staff member what's their "best sandwich;" her response was, "Mozzarella, tomato, and basil sandwich on ciabatta was our most popular." So that's what I ordered. But as hungry as I was, the sandwich didn't taste exceptional. It was exactly what the name suggested, mozzarella, tomato, and basil on ciabatta with balsamic. I had come into the store earlier during the week for their coffee at 2pm. I thought it was burnt so I couldn't really taste the special blend. I had to add simply syrup to it to dilute the burnt taste. Perhaps I will try their coffee again in the morning when they are serving a fresh pot.

A very cool place, with an excellent sandwich and lunch menu. The place is very mellow on the weekends; the staff are nice "artsy" type people; and they serve a lot of healthy lunch items (including an awesome tuna salad on olive bread sandwich).

Great place for coffee and breakfast or lunch. There coffee is good but there breakfast and lunch sandwiches are fantastic! I use to visit this place like once a week when I worked in dt Seattle. It was kind of addicting! By far my fav sandwiches are the fresh mozzarella w/chapati bread and the feta basil w/pita bread. I think the cost is a little much and wish it came with at least a side of something but overall good!

Stopped by here to grab a coffee and snack on our way to the ferry. The Chai tea latte was good. The milky way latte tasted like a regular latte, no hint of their being milky way in it. We also got the Lavender Lemon blueberry muffin, which tasted like a regular lemon blueberry muffin.

I'll put it this way, I get a breakfast bagel from Cherry St. and cross the street to get my coffee from Starbucks.

This particular Cherry Street took me awhile to find. For some reason it didn't occur to me that it might be up the hill on Cherry St and not on 1st Ave. Duh! Anyways, the first time I managed to find the darn place I thought it was closed cause the door was difficult to open and I didn't see anyone in there. But I pushed a little harder and made my way inside and a barista appeared. I'm glad I finally made it here cause Cherry Street is now always a stop before I go get my hair cut. The iced caramel nonfat lattes are some of the best I've ever had* in Seattle. The service is usually pretty friendly and prompt. The ordering area is a little cramped but the downstairs looks spacious. I've never actually enjoyed my latte here as I always get my drink to go. The decorations are great, there's one amazing poster advertising condoms. You gotta check it out! The only food I've purchased here is bananas, but if it's anything like the other locations, it's delicious. I mentioned the mouth watering vege burgers in another review and they are definitely worth trying, even if you're not vegan or vegetarian ( yelp.com/biz/cherry-stre… )! After I Yelped the Belltown shop the owner sent me a lovely message, thanking me for my patronage and my review. I see he's responded to several other reviews as well, and I think it's really cool he cares so much about his customers and his business. A local shop with great coffee and food and an owner that takes Yelpers seriously -- what more can you ask for? Well, I'd ask for a location closer to my apartment and more consistent hours of operation. *Except on my last trip. It was just OK. The barista didn't look familiar to me, maybe she's new? In any case, one mediocre latte doesn't ruin the whole thing for me. I'll give em a pass and leave it at 4 Stars.

Good place for a quick lunch or coffee. The service is adequate, and the food is good. The sausage and peppers sandwich is worth a try.

What a cute cafe in the shadows of Pioneer Square's tall buildings. This is a quiet, chill place to work on your laptop or chat with a friend. My boyfriend and I were tired from sight seeing and stopped here to "recoup" and reenergize with some delicious coffee. This is the original, first location and you can tell they are dedicated to doing what coffee shops should do: make awesome coffee. I got the unique "Milky Way" - it was in a huge ceramic cup artfully topped with ribbons of caramel, chocolate pieces and fluffy whipped cream. There the main floor that sinks down below street level for a quiet work space. The tables are a little worn with antique- looking Middle eastern inspired table cloths. The bathroom is really odd with two stalls (one toilet, one urinal) but the light in the toilet stall was broken.) Ugh. All their sandwiches and vegetarian lunches look SO great, wish I had time to try more stuff here.

My husband and I were window shopping around Pioneer Square and got hungry in the mid-afternoon. We stopped in and asked about their lunch special hours. The lunch specials are every day and they offer two soups and two varieties of quiche. As the soup of the day was not my favorite (tomato; the other soup was out) we both ordered a slice of broccoli and cheddar quiche and the house salad. Came to a little under $20. We sat outside and our food was brought to us. We both really enjoyed the quiche and salad-tasty and filling, but not heavy. After reading Bhindi B's review, I'm curious to come back and try the veggie burger...

This is one of those places where you could go with a laptop and sit down for 4 hours and not think twice about it. The location is in expanding part of Belltown and you'll find the usual assortment of young hipsters and professionals hanging out there. There's a few tables outside for sidewalk seating, and I would estimate room for about 30 people inside. So, it's small, cozy, and comfortable. There's an assortment of teas and coffees, as well as breakfast items. I've grabbed tea and coffee here before which was good, but I especially enjoyed the fallafel and hummus wrap. Even though the ingredents in this wrap are a great start, I have seen this type of wrap screwed-up before(notably by at small airport spot in ATL). Luckily for me, Cherry Street does it well. The fallafel is nicely done and slightly cripsy, and the hummus is used just enough to compliment but not overwhelm (and leak out everywhere). Even better, the wrap with a small side like a bag of chips should fill you up nicely. Perfect spot to grab a quick bite, or just hang out and enjoy the atmosphere.

Real cozy place. Indoor seating is quite dark, but cozy. They have a nice selection of interesting and delicious foods. Drinks are good as well. The barista knows what she is doing.

What more is there to say than they have great coffee and a "basement" area to sit back and enjoy your coffee or read the paper.

My original review was for the 1st Ave location, accidentally posted here. After a bad experience at the 1st Ave location, I was told by some friends that the original location on Cherry was way better. And it was, in some ways. My cappuccino was acceptable, though still bitter. I think it's their roasters rather than their baristas, not that it really matters one way or the other.

While waiting for the Underground Tour around the corner to open, I was wondering around the 'hood finding a place to grab a coffee and when I saw the line of what looked like locals at this place, I decided to join the line. Normally I don't stand in line if I can help it, but if the locals will stand in a line this long (like 5-6 people deep) I figure how bad could it be! YUM!! The coffee was de-lish. I also got an egg scramble on a bagel and while asking for a plain bagel, I was served an everything bagel (only con) it was the perfect breakfast. I could see sitting here for hours except I had a tour to catch!

Cherry Street is my go-to for my morning coffee. The first time I walked in, I discovered that they sell Seattle Bagel Co. bagels and was over the moon. I love, love, love Seattle Bagel Co. bagels and can no longer get them at Met Market. I also discovered that their almond lattes are like heaven in a cup. There are myriad breakfast and lunch options that I've yet to try. The sausage and pepper breakfast wrap gets the thumbs up from the other half, as does the baklava. The baristas are all friendly and very interesting if you stop to join in the conversation. Service is sometimes slow, but that doesn't bother me at all - it's worth the wait. The owner is always friendly and can offer up his favourite Persian restaurant if you ask (we need more of them).

I just tried their expresso shake. taste like any other exspresso shake... I do want to go back to try their bagels and lox...

I hit this shop every couple of weeks, hoping, praying that they will figure out a solution to their speed issues. Granted I do come in during peak hours (AM & lunch) but they're usually sufficiently staffed-the staff just doesn't teamwork well and as a result it takes me 10 or more minutes to get drip coffee and a bagel. Complaining aside, the coffee is quite good as are the bagels (pastries are meh, save your calories for something better). It's just that with so many choices for coffee within a few blocks (Pegasus, Starbucks, Trabant)-Cherry Street should really step it up to stay competitive.

I've been coming here for almost 10 years. The owners have built their business on quality food and building community through the love they show for all of their customers. More than a cup of coffee. Great breakfast and lunch. My favorite is their breakfast sandwich and soups.

Both for this and the 1 st and Clay location. First : We Cheryl my better half , and I visited the monday before Thanksgiving on that first snowy day of the season. As a disclaimer....we are fromSouthern Californai, and our coffee choices arelimited to very lousy smallplaces run in generally badly, Peets, Kean coffee (was Dietricts an Orange County fixture until bought by.....Starbucks. Okay no guffaws plaes. I have a daughter going to U of W and she informed me that the Bucks is not much favored by the locals. I was warned. I do not want to tell a long story. But I will say what matters. The coffee is probabaly the best I have had. It was the best we had for that week in the Seattle area and far beeeter than what we get at home. I have bought a pound of the coffee fro home to see If I can replicate it here. Note with shipping the price was kinda ....ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next thing. he sell the darned best qucick oatmeal I have had. Nearly as good as the oatmeal (steel cut) served at the Santa Maria Inn which I adore. Service, VERY good, very fast, and NO STUPID STUFF ONT THE MENU. Sorry I do NOT like having to use 4 languages to get a cup of coffee (S Bucks please take note on that).

I've only eaten at the original Cherry Street location, but I've never regretted it. My two favorite items are the homemade veggie burger (made vegan) and the Egyptian Lentil Soup. Not only is the food wonderful, fresh, and vegan-friendly, but the folks who work there are lovely and the owners are very community-minded. I've been to two fundraisers and art openings at this location alone! I never encountered a more vegan-friendly non-vegan joint in all of Seattle. I also love watching their videos of how they make the food. Hilarious! Chef Dashel is a star. Check out this one about the veggie burger: youtube.com/watch?v=VWQ5… . Black beans, tofu, veggies, herbs, baked. Yum.

This place is really good! i thought they were crazy for the expansion attempt and i haven't visited every location yet, but this is a great place for breakfast, brunch, lunch, whenever. the cherry street location is where i usually go. it's charming, quaint, with a nice blend of antique decor and post-modernism. i gobbled my lox and bagel and coffee in a mere seconds. stuck my finger in my girlfriend's, asking, 'u gonna finish dat?' she didn't even pause in mid-bite and took my finger! sorry, didn't mean to go to kendrick-land. but the point is, the food is not bad at all! the food always taste fresh with simple flavors. in fact, i kinda want a lox and bagel right now as i type this. verdict: shakas with wiggle lines. weird. my girlfriend yelled out from the living room that she wants to go for lox and bagels there! i shit thee not! she doesn't even know i'm writing this review! whoa, this is like, totally kismet, dude

SLOWEST COFFEE SHOP OF ALL TIME! We waited in line for 15 minutes to order our drinks! Only 3 people were ahead of us...And then our drinks took another 10 minutes. 25 minutes for one latte and one cappuccino! It seemed as if they had no system going on for them which made everything seem really disorganized. Sure, one girl was preparing the food and one girl was making the drinks but who's taking our order? And on top of that, while I was waiting in line, I noticed that several customers came up to the employees letting them know they were missing parts of their meals. And the workers didn't apologize or offer to bring them their food...instead they just said "You didn't order that. You didn't pay for it but do you want it now?" Pretty rude to me... Serious waste of my time. And I don't care if their coffee was decent!

    (2)
  • Shane K.

Definitely the best tasting coffee in the area. The sandwiches are great too, and made to order so prepare to wait a few minutes (which is fine). For soy latte drinkers, they use Pacific Natural Foods Soy Blenders, which is the best soy milk to use for coffee (in my opinion).

  • Karen S.

The cafe on Cherry street is the original, I believe, and it has all the charms of a local cafe. The veggie burger was a good sandwich as far as sandwiches go, probably worth its price considering the size and the freshness of ingredients. The toasted ciabatta is delicious. My friend and I decided that the downstairs seating area reminded us of madame paddifoot's tea shop from harry potter, and would be very appropriate on a normal coldwetwindyrainy seattle day because it's cozy and low-lit, but on a rare beautiful sunny day you might be inclined to be outside, and there is no really comfortable seating outside that isn't on a hill.

I started coming here because I worked across the street. I kept coming back because of Ali. He's all about The Love and I like that. I no longer work across the street but it's always a treat to run into Ali. This coffee house is a great forum for being social, togetherness, sharing some tasty food, and fueling the economy. Ali, you rock! And dude, thanks for the free wi-fi.

This is a prototypical Seattle hole in the wall coffee shop. It is a great place to read, relax, enjoy a cup and maybe a sandwich.

It was good, husband liked the coffee. We just stopped in as an alternate for breakfast because we were tired of the food at the hotel. They don't have a great breakfast selection, but the husband got his chocolate fix, and I had my caffine. It is nice that it is not far from the Underground Tour.

Strong coffee, friendly service, and pseudo-hip atmosphere make for a good start to the day. I met Maria here for some good conversation and the coffee worked out too. It's not the best coffee ever, but it is rich and fairly strong. They made a nice pattern in the foam on top of Maria's. Also, they had pastries from B&0 (i think) or one of the more well-known shops from around town, so they are probably much better than average. They had a neat little basement area that we sat it, yes the fireplace was lame, but the surroundings reminded me of being in a Bellingham coffee shop. If you've ever gone to school there, you know what I mean. I didn't like that they charge 30 cents to use a credit card. My Americano was about $1 more than at Cafe Umbria, so I will probably continue my 6 block hike, unless I'm in a hurry or meeting Maria again.

What more can you ask for in terms of a coffehouse? Great space, great food, great coffee, and more importantly great people. I've known the family who owns the coffee house and they've definitely brought their energy to everything that is Cherry St. If you have go there, definitely get the caprese sandwich on pita, probably the most delicious thing they have amongst all the tasty lunches. Cheers!

  • Cristina L.

Stopped in after an overnight hotel stay in Seattle wanting breakfast. Coffee was good and I had a bacon, egg, and cheese pita. Not bad for just a bite to fill your belly in the morning. It's kind of a do-it-yourself little place, with a small, eccentric area for seating downstairs. Not bad, but no table/restaurant service if that's what you're looking for.

Rad-tastic! I love Cherry Street coffee house(s). Mostly because the people are fantastic and the locations are super fab. We just had an event for work there (see teachstreet.com ) and had 35 instructors and 10 staff and friends come hang out and chat. The folks at Cherry Street were amazing hosts and our instructors LOVED being in a place that felt so "neighborhood-y". What can I say? Being around businesses like this make me proud to be a Seattle-ite.

In some ways, I really like this place. The food is excellent and so is the coffee. The negatives are that it's pretty pricey and that the politeness factor among the wait/counter staff varies wildly. The owner is very nice.

Hm... why is everyone saying it's pricey? my and two of my friends got coffee here for about $8, which is extremely cheaper than starbucks. good, strong americano. staff was friendly and accommodating. outside seating was perfect for sunny evening.

  • Amanda M.

My cappuccino was perfectly made. There is plentiful seating in the downstairs room, which was buzzing with conversation by 4pm but not too loud to comfortably converse. Not sure I'd choose to study here, as there is a complete lack of windows/natural light in the seating area, but it's a fine place to grab a good cup of coffee/tea/espresso with a friend.

We just vacationed in Seattle (from Boston) and Cherry Street Coffee House was right around the corner from our hotel. We ended up eating there almost every day for breakfast. While the coffee was good and the staff was personable, the reason we kept coming back was the food. Their flatbread sandwiches are second to none. The bread is warm and chewy with the right amount of crunch. They even let me order falafel at 10am! Their falafel was fresh without being greasy and had many fresh crunchy veggies to round out the sandwich. It was a nice change from the egg and bacon wrap that I had ordered before. The space itself is very funky with local art on the walls and a faux fireplace painted on the back wall. Thank you, Cherry Street Coffee House for being near our hotel!

I ordered a coffee here yesterday. It was my first time in this coffee shop. I found the coffee to be quite good, a little expensive but I thought the coffee and the atmosphere was quite charming. I will return.

Here's the thing: Their coffee is great most of the time but the service is horrible! I went into the place a few times a week for several months and each time I watched them chat with other customers and remember their drinks. Not me, even though I got the same drink every day. They employ mostly women, who seem to flirt with male customers. between that and the .35 cent charge for credit/debit payments (which is actually against their agreement with the credit card companies and they can be sued for it), I went elsewhere

    (2)
  • Amy B.

I love this place for coffee in the mornings or lunch during a work day. They have the most amazing soup and sandwiches. It's a little pricey but because the food is so good I don't mind paying extra. I highly recommend the lemon rice soup and ham sandwich. Yum!

I haven't been here in a while but me and a friend use to come here once a week to work on school projects and use the free wi-fi. (I'm assuming they still have the wi-fi but don't quote me on it) The atmosphere is nice and chill. The workers were really nice and didn't mind us hogging two tables until they closed. I'm interested in going to the other location!

Amazing lunch spot! I stumbled across these guys last week and am thrilled to have a new option while I'm at work. Great high quality ingredients and fresh mozzarella. And the staff is incredibly friendly; none of the usual Seattle 'tude here.

This place was a lot bigger inside than I imagined. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The smoothy I had was very sweet but just what I wanted. Definitely a good place to escape the busy street and enjoy some quiet time and free wifi!

A friend introduced me to this establishment a little while ago and, since then, I have been hooked! Their sandwiches, I like mine on freshly toasted Ciabatta bread, are mouthwatering. if there is a negative at all, the place is so popular that the wait for sandwiches to go can be a little long, especially after Noon.

Nice place. Visited with family of four for breakfast and some good espresso. Bagels and muffins were good, nothing exceptional though. The dry cap's were nice dry with good foam allowing you to get a good taste of the espresso itself. Unfortunately, I have to say both cap's were bitter even with a bit of sugar. I was hoping for that sweet shot I've heard so much about. I'd go back and try again as it was a nice freindly place to hang out.

  • Francisco A.

The coffee here is pretty good but definitely not the best in the area. Like any coffee house it depends on the barista. Their staff is mostly knowledgeable but I've had a coule of bad cappuccinos. They have a fine selection of overpriced pastries. The thing that really makes this place great, however, is the lunch menu. In particular, the BLT on Olive Loaf is one of the best sandwiches you'll find in downtown Seattle. Most everything is great as they have a ready supply of good bread and fresh ingredients. This place is never too crowded and I have always been able to find a table downstairs. The decor is a bit dark and gloomy but the vintage safe is a very nice touch.

It is a fact that Cherry street is more expensive than Starbucks. Having said that, I am perfectly fine with spending a few extra dollars for much higher quality coffee and a real local business. Yes, Starbucks started and is based in Seattle but it is now essentially the McDonalds of coffee. If McDonalds started in Seattle, I would not feel any need to support it either. But I digress. I think I could survive alone on Cherry Street's egg and cheese bagel or their fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil sandwich (on ciabatta, please!). The food is always fresh and tastes amazing. Also, I usually test a coffeeshop on how good their drip coffee is and it is damn good here. I would give five stars on all of this alone but like others have said, the staff can give some major attitude. Maybe it is a testament to how good the food is that I still coming back no matter how rude they are.

Great vibe... an underground Pioneer Square vibe to be exact. They have good coffee, good staff and semi dry but good pastries. Great place to have your nose in a book... and they have lunch too!

Cherry Street has the best Mozzarella sandwiches ever! My mouth waters even thinking of them. I try not to get more than one per week, but it's really hard not to.

  • Jessica S.

This places coffee is great! One of the most beautiful latte's served! But some of the people are just mean...and not in that I give bad service...but just in that "I don't really like you or anyone way" I feel like I am always going to order my coffee wrong and piss them off. I still go because it is so good though! They are like the dominatrix of coffee houses! It hurts but it hurts so good! Wrong I know.

Cherry Street is a great place for breakfast or lunch. I like their egg/bagel sandwiches better than any other breakfast sandwich downtown. They also have donuts, fruit, granola, etc. Their homemade veggie burger , which comes with lettuce, tomato, and sprouts, is fantastic--also the best around. Their other sandwiches are very good and always fresh. I am not a fan of their coffee--Caffe Umbria and Zeitgeist are nearby and better--but I come here for the food. You can call ahead for to go orders. They have lots of seating for eating in.

An excellent cup of coffee -drip or otherwise- in a wasteland of chain coffee shops. The owner is a remarkable chap. Friendly bar staff. The walk is walked, the talk is talked: it's Seattle coffee the way you always wanted it to be.

I have been thrilled to no end by the fact that I live so, so close to a good independent coffee house. The drinks are always made well but they are strangely overpriced. I think the pastries come from B & O but don't ask me about them because I've got a wheat allergy. It has a nice, largish seating area with some shabby decor but free wi-fi. My only real complaint is the generally horrible customer service. There is one girl here that might actually hate me with the fury of a thousand suns. Or she may just be bi-polar and I get treated to the 'down' days. Great coffee, bad attitude.. maybe it evens out?

I had a drip coffee. It was strong as it is everywhere in Seattle but a good cup of coffee. The staff is pretty friendly. They have Calistoga Mineral Water which is a find substitute for Perrier. The wireless signal is strong but there is a lack of plugs. One in the back by the couch another in the corner. There's some interesting art hanging on the walk and a short-haired, friendly armless maniquin in burlesque.

I like this place. Of course, my opinions tend to be influenced by my mood and the company I'm with, but even if I hadn't met Sam here for coffee I think I would like the place. It's got a tiny space for ordering and a pastry case I didn't even pay attention to in my desperate need for caffeine (it had been over an hour since my last fix). There's lots of space downstairs and it's got a great ethnic, shabby chic thing going, though that fake fireplace is a bit odd. I liked my soy latte and always appreciate a pretty design on top. Good company, good coffee, good conversation, good atmosphere - what else matters at 9 in the morning? Or really, any time of day. I'll definitely be back.

If you work near Pioneer Square/Business District, there are about a million places to eat or grab coffee. But the block of Cherry between 1st and 2nd is my favorite, and this is one of the reasons. It has a spacious downstairs area, and a bit of outdoor seating. And of course the espresso is fab. I definitely think it's worth the trip from Columbia Tower, at any rate.

A lot bigger than you'd imagine from looking at the entrance. Tons of seating, and cute art below. We ordered giant mugs of lovely loose leaf tea - the earl gray and jasmine were both very aromatic and lovely. Super friendly service. We didn't try the food, but the other patrons seemed to like it. All in all, a great coffee shop! Pro tip: the bathroom has a code (yay for clean bathroom!). Grab it from the cashier when you order.

I lived in Seattle for a month and worked in Pioneer Square. I originally just came here at random and it was all down hill from there. I want to start by saying this is the BEST coffee I have ever had! The mocha is amazing. I'm not sure what they do to it and I really don't care because it's just that good. Its smooth and just sweet enough and doesn't leave that bitter after taste you may find from that other place down the street. I am also not one to order the same thing everything time. I have tried most of the coffee options and there isn't one I wouldn't order again. As far as the food menu, the Sausage and Peppers with egg and cheese on a pita was my favorite. I have also tried the chicken salad on the olive bread. That is a pretty good lunch option. Overall I highly recommend this spot. Its the only Cherry Street Coffee house I have been to so I can't speak on the others. But, if they are ran like this one, I'm sure it's just fine.

From past coffee experiences from Cherry Street, I decided on this particular visit to avoid the coffee and try something new: a salad. I had heard the falafel salad here was pretty good and since I had a gift card, I figured I'd give that a shot. Greens tossed with pickles + red onions then topped with hummus and crushed falafel. It hit the spot, no doubt, but I probably would try something else from their menu on the next visit. The place itself was in dire need of some clean-up and touch-ups even... but I do my best to overlook those things in downtown Seattle.

I stopped in today during my trip downtown, before the Mariners game. I ended up ordering the Lox and cream cheese bagel with an iced coffee. The bagel was perfectly toasted, the lox was very fresh and flavorful, and the capers added a nice finishing touch. The coffee was very delicious and had a great aroma. The baristas behind the counter, were very friendly and pleasant to talk to. Any time I'm in Pioneer Square, this cafe will definitely get my business.

EXCELLENT cappicino server in this historic building just steps off Pioneer Square. Easy to miss in the basement seating area which had a couple wing-backed chaird, a fireplace and genrral cosiness that fits Seattle quite well, thank you. The male barista was a bit cantankeous, but it didn't detract from te expereince.

Selected this place at random, walked in off the street on the way to my next destination. Almost balked at the prices, 8.50 for a BLT. My advice, pay it! Best BLT ever, including my own. I think it actually sang to me while I ate it. I recommend it on ciabatta. Ordered a "side" salad, this is where you get your money back! Huge, fresh, and the in house balsamic dressing was the most expertly balanced dressing I've ever had outside my own kitchen. Cute, open space with a great view of a busy sidewalk. Cool art (including the ink on the kitchen staff), cool music. And the staff? OMFG, they are absolutely gorgeous people. If your looking for some coffeehouse gnosh: Get here, or get nowhere!

Got recommended this place so I decided to check it out. The barista suggested I try their Milky Way since their caramel is made in-house. It was really creamy and sweet and worth checking out if you're visiting Seattle!

Having witnessed Laila Ghambari mesmerizing performance at 2014 SCAA's Big Western Regional Coffee Championships, I eagerly bookmarked Cherry Street Coffee House with much anticipation of enjoying a fine cappuccino. Truth be told, I am highly cautious of yelp reviews, regardless of how critical they are. At times, a flood of 1 or 5 star reviews will cause me to doubt their validity. My intentions were to give Cherry Street a fair assessment. Sadly, the coffee program at Cherry Street seriously needs attention. Cherry Street Coffee House (at least this location) sports an ambiance quite typical of your average coffee house. It's warm. It's comfortable. It possess a warm color palette. An intoxicating aroma of darkly roasted ground espresso fills the space. But then it was my turn in line to order. The barista working register exhibited a highly unpleasant attitude. She lacked people skills suitable for this industry. She also happened to pull espresso for my cappuccino. Cappuccino: 1/5 May I begin by saying that I've enjoyed a cup or two at more than a few coffee shops/houses/bars. I've been all over the US tasting espresso and filtered coffee sourced from a myriad of roasters. Regrettably, this was the absolute worst cappuccino I've ever tasted to date. After about five sips of this piping hot, sour, and severely bitter capp, I could no longer tolerate this poorly extracted espresso. I was not about to ask a rude barista to remake my cappuccino, so I opted to abandon my beverage. What's more, the taste refused to dispel itself from my palate, something not even the Salumi Salami Sandwich from Salumi Artisan Cured Meats I ate after could dislodge. I'd like to believe having Laila return from her stint at Urban Coffee Lounge only serves to benefit Cherry Street. Overhauling Cherry Street's coffee program will take patience, time, and effort. Her potential impact can be huge...and I am highly anticipating a return next year to taste the fruits of her labor.

Descriptive phrase: unpretentious coffee shop. In a city with a million hip coffee shops, Cherry Street Coffee House is existing successfully without being cool for the sake of it. Both staff and patrons were friendly. The space was a little old and "antique-y", but not unclean. My Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Breakfast Bagel ($5.25) hit the spot on a cool Wednesday morning.

While the financial district 808 location is more lean, clean and smooth in how it is artfully laid out, this one is special by itself. Inside, an array of decor reaching into different styles & genres. Really cool, interesting murals to a 3D topo map by a CNC router... It's also more airy and less stuffy than up on 808. Outside, inside and downstairs you may go. I popped in for a veggie burger, MO donut and chai. The VB was pretty good and the slightly crunchy ends are a texture of mine. Donut was slightly dry-ish. The chai was nice. The staff that tended to it seemed pleasant and unbothered. One thing odd: the one bathroom: unmarked, has a door lock, urinal and door for toilet stall. A passable men's room but it's adorned by no mark/sign... o_O A good, unique spot nonetheless, yo.

Awesome atmosphere, extremely friendly and competent staff, food is good too. I pay more for gyros in Bellevue for takeout, and these are much better and more fillings and more importantly, meat!! Def worth it. I go out of my way to avoid Starbucks and this place is sooo much better. Their breakfast is amazing too

I loooooove coffee and was ecstatic about coming to the coffee mecca of the West, Seattle, WA! I was warned that Seattle coffee is very much compared to classic dark espresso roasts iconic of Starbucks. I really wanted to see if all the hype at the US Coffee Championships with Laila Ghamberi of Cherry Street Coffee advancing to the USBC finals were worth all the hoopla. Please understand that this is not a direct attack against Laila, but an honest opinion about the quality of espresso drinks here at Cherry Street. First, the girl at the counter really needed some people skills, I don't knock stars off for employees having incorrigible people skills, rather if I were to have enjoyed an excellent pulled espresso, this establishment would have received at least 4 if not 5 stars. My experience with what I was served could not reflect anything less than horrendous! Undrinkable, sour, bitter...hmmmm, I wonder if Laila served the judges what I received at her shop?!?! What I was served was so horrible that I abandoned my attempt to swallow more of it! If you like Starbucks, I recommend that over what I was served here and you know how much I loathe Charbucks!

We are big coffee fans, so my honey took me to Cherry Street Coffee House for a little breakfast snack. We ordered a Everything Bagel with Cream Cheese and Lox. I ordered a Chai and he ordered a coffee. Although the order seemed simple, they kept forgetting the little things - what drink he ordered, what bagel, what we wanted on it. Didn't you just ring us up and write it down? In the end we just took our order, even though my chai was wrong. It was still good, just a little frustrating and not worth waiting for a new one. I do like the coffee, so I purchased three bags of it to take home and give as gifts for Christmas. Everyone seemed to enjoy the coffee gifts. :)

Good music and cool workers. The food and drinks are fine but it's way too hot to be in this establishment during the hot summer heat. It's 10 times hotter than it is outside.

I will forever associate my week in Seattle with Cherry Street Coffee House. On my first visit, it had been POURING FOR HOURS and my husband and I were soaked to the bone. We were tired of aimlessly wandering Pike Place Market and were craving some good coffee. Somebody recommended we find a Cherry Street Coffee House, and so we did! The baristas were arty without be pretentious or rude, and damn, they make great cappuccinos. The atmosphere had a comfortable grungy feel -- like a hipster's dorm room, but better. We sat on cushions near the window and watched all the other suckers get rained on for a change. Great looking bagels and sandwiches, too.

This is the Cherry Street Coffee house that is actually on Cherry Street - I saw others all over the city. I had a Cafe Mocha and Asiago Bagel with Cream Cheese. It was $12 - that was a bit expensive. I was very surprised at how well balanced the coffee and mocha was. It was tasty, smooth and not too sweet. The Asiago bagel was fresh, toasted just right and a nice amount of cream cheese. I was very happy. I infrequently go to a coffee house, so ordering always takes me awhile. The staff was pleasant, patient and friendly. The location is great, it's on the way to the ferry, between 1st and 2nd streets.

We really loved this place, the coffee was smooth and mellow, the quiche great and full of ham, and the spinach pie my personal favorite. Served pleasantly and promptly. Going back now for the third day in a row.

Best breakfast in Seattle yet. Had the quiche, and a egg and bacon breakfast sandwich. Both were excellent, but I'm guessing the ambiance had a lot to do with it. You order upstairs then proceed downstairs to a very rustic, charming dining area. They have many antique painting, chairs, tables, and area rugs. It seems this building was at one time a bank, as there is a huge old safe. Great food, excellent customer service, charming ambiance. Oh! The coffee was good too.

My husband and I were really looking forward to getting breakfast and coffee here. We love artisan anything, especially coffee and will always seek out the local coffee houses before going somewhere that is more of a chain. I used to be a Barista and cafe manager trained in Seattle so I know a good cup of espresso. Let me start by saying that I love the physical location of the original cherry street coffee. It has a good vibe for a pioneer square coffee House. We each ordered bagel sandwiches, I ordered a cappuccino and my husband ordered a black and white mocha. The sandwich I can overlook, it wasn't terrible but it also wasn't delicious. Relatively flavorless, and so dry. Are the eggs microwaved? I have no idea but it was strange. Nonetheless, we ate them. The coffee, oh my goodness it was awful. So bitter, burnt and tacky in your mouth. Not even my husbands mocha chocolate could cover up the charcoal flavor. I tried to drink it but after 3 sips it was like licking campfire ashes. I dumped out out. We will not be going back. :-(

I discovered Cherry Street a couple years ago, and... I like them. They have pretty good coffee drinks and a nice selection of sandwiches/salads. On my most recent visit, I was lured in by wifi and a caprese salad. The salad ended up being more expensive than I expected (oops), but it was pretty good. I had one of their veggie sandwiches on my previous visit, and that sandwich was faaaantastic. This location has a big seating area below the barista area/floor, and it's great on a dreary day... but I don't recommend going there on a sunny day. It's got a bit of a basement feel to it, and... it only seems right for a day when you're excited about hiding from the rain/clouds.

Get the iced coffee and salmon & lochs. It's not terrible! I loved it. I really enjoy their atmosphere and the music playing. I heard The Smiths TWICE in about 2 hours and I was just so happy. The decor is interesting downstairs. It's a nice location.

Cherry Street on Cherry is my favorite coffee house in the entirety of Seattle! No, seriously, it's my favorite. They make consistently great lattes and have a wonderful selection of breakfast and lunch foods. The staff is always kind to me, as they recognize me as a regular. I don't often stay and drink a cup, as I don't care for the interior much, but for a grab and go to make me happy and keep my day going, they can't be beat.

This place definitely "gets the job done" though I come here mostly out of convenience because it's so close to my office. My favorite thing on their menu is the salmon lox and cream cheese bagel ($8-9). They have a good selection of sandwiches, soups, and salads (including some solid breakfast sandwiches) as well as baked goods.

We had an early flight last Tuesday, and the Mimosa Café was late in opening. We walked the block downhill to the Cherry Street Coffee House, and were pleasantly surprised. The CSCH is a contemporary barista-driven coffee house, but could easily pass for a coffee house from the Kerouac era. The windowless concrete walls of its basement dining area seemed ripe for a poetry reading to break-out at any moment. There is a bit of attitude at the front counter, but in a quirky and interesting (rather than malicious) way. Maybe its an East Coast-West Coast thing, but we found the two women who operate this location to be quite nice, and eager to please their diners. Their bagels are passable, and would rate a bit higher were this reviewer not an NYC Area native. CSCH coffee was top-notch by any standard. Walking another block would have taken us to a Starbucks, and having to explain what a "large dark roast" is-- to someone who is already well aware-- just wasn't my idea of starting the day. Cherry Street Coffee House, you came through for us.

Cherry Street Coffee House is a great Seattle staple. They seem to be everywhere I am and they have a nice consistency from location-to-location. I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't review their coffee but their baristas are always very nice and work fairly quickly. I patronize Cherry Street Coffee House for their food. It's delicious. Pita breakfast wraps? Um, yes, please! Their chicken salad sandwich is awesome. But by far, I like their soups the best. Coconut Curry is terrific. I highly recommend popping-in for lunch. There are a few things I don't care for at most Cherry Street Coffee Houses: -It seems that they consistently run out of soup and bread was too early. Especially the soup and bread I want (ha!); Olive Loaf and Coconut Curry Soup. -The space by the register is limited in many locations, making it tough when waiting for to-go orders on even a semi-busy day. -Even though their food is delicious I think it is slightly over-priced. I recommend Cherry Street Coffee House for lunch and I recommend the Cherry Street location as a nice place to sit and work.

What's the hype about Seattle coffee? I came here on advice of several Yelp requests. First service sucks ass. I think that's a west coast thing. There is never a sense of urgency on service and they just look at you while you're waiting in line. WHEN THERE ARE SEVERAL ABLE BODIED INDIVIDUALS TO GET YOU YOUR COFFEE AND GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE. Just because I am on vacation doesn't mean I don't have places to be. Snap snap. So I got a pumpkin spice latte. It was just a'ight. I give them points for not using a package (i'm looking at you Starbucks), or syrup (hi, Dunkin). They used PUMPKIN PUREE. Nice subtle flavor. But needed to really stir it around. But the attitude put me off. NEVER AGAIN.

Wow. Some bizarro stuff going on at this location. It's Sunday morning early and I was really wanting a bagel with lox and creme cheese. In here though, they are OUT of bagels. How does that even happen on what should be the busiest morning for them? Except..., they have a very lonely, day old bagel. Just sitting there on the counter. Wrapped in saran wrap, mouth covered in duct tape and its underwear on backwards, like an abduction victim. She asked me- do I want that? Not a good sign. But we needed to eat and go on with our day, so I accepted it. After a ridiculous 20 minute wait while the staff neglected to make my food and were just taking more orders & jawing with regulars, it finally came. Why why why did I eat it??? I was sick like a dog the whole day. I don't know if the bagel had been sneezed on or someone played floor hockey with it the night before or the lox was bad- but I was sick all damn day. I won't return here.

Looked on their website first a couple of weeks ago. Checked their menu again today. (Kudos to the CSCH team for revamping their POS website). Came in knowing I would only get a breakfast bagel. Ordered a bacon, egg and cheese bagelwich on a sesame bagel. My god. The best goddamn breakfast bagelwich I've ever had in my mouth. Talk about foodgasms for the entire time I ate the thing. I savored every single minute of it. Not exactly sure why it was so good. The only explanation is that angels must have made the perfectly cooked scrambled eggs and stacks of bacon, topped with a slice of cheddar cheese, that were pressed in between a perfectly toasted sesame bagel. I die. Seriously. So good. Was that a bit dramatic? Anyways, good stuff. I'll be going back for more food in the future.

I have been so excited for this Cherry St. to move in! My excitement was happily met with great service and awesome breakfast/lunch food menu that is super tasty! My only issue with the layout is if their are more than two or three people in line it can get congested because their isn't much room by the register. However, that leaves ample room for more seating space in the back which is great for when you wanna get out of the office. I can't say enough things about the staff! They are very friendly and even remembered my order after just a few times in, that's some great service! If you are looking for an inexpensive and hearty meal try the cup of soup, they make them fresh daily and it comes with a piece of toast for around $5. I am a huge fan of this location and I'm so happy they moved into the neighborhood! They will also be open later during first Thursday art walks, so if you are in the area for artwalk check them out!

Lemon lavender blueberry muffin. That is what I ordered. The first time I came here I walked in the first door on my right going towards 2nd Ave. I was just browsing the menu on the wall and I saw a guy that was staring at me. I was a little creeped out so I glanced back at the menu on the wall. I looked back at him again and he was still staring at me. I walked over towards him to figure out what he wanted and I realized that there was a line in back of him around the corner. He was just making sure that I didn't cut him in line. So keep in mind there are 2 doors for entering and exiting off of Cherry St. If you choose to hang out, there's a large seating area on the other side of the order counter. You'll have to walk down stairs.

Well I'm back in Seattle for a few days and that means I can do some quick exploring of cafes and continue my search for the perfect cup of joe... First stop: Cheery Street Coffee House. I remember this place from when I lived here. I was a fan but not something that stuck out as a first place to go. That being said, things haven't changed. This is not saying that the coffee is bad or even not good. It just lacks that "bold, I want you now, you know you need me" feeling and taste. The service on the other hand...Tina and the barista dude (sorry, didnt catch your name) were top notch. Great smiles, friendly conversation and a general ease that makes coming in here a bit better with every sip. Bonus 1/2 star for the free wifi without a password which is more than I can say for the fancy hotel I am staying at. Enjoy!

Good coffee, but what I liked so much was their breakfast sandwich. I got the one with tomato & basil, it was delicious! Best brekkie sandwich I've had in a long ass time. The service was ok, it didn't take too long for my stuff to be ready but it was early, like 6:45 or so, shortly after they'd opened. I stuck around to study and saw it get quite a crowd waiting thru the morning. There is a great area below for seating, lots of tables and chairs making it much cozier to hang out and chat.

My faaavorite coffee shop! Maybe I'm a bit partial now that I live in Pioneer Square, but this place is the shiznit. The baristas are energetic, friendly, and of course a little quirky. They make awesome coffee, but the best little secret about this place is the breakfast bagel sandwhiches! If you are reading this, get off the computer (or your phone), get to this coffee house, and order the bacon and egg breakfast bagel on an asiago bagel. If you don't like it, I will gladly take the uneaten portion of your hands!

My husband and I came in for a cup of coffee on Saturday morning. There was a line. The seating is like a dungeon, which would be awesome in the 9 rainy months of the year. After waiting ~7 minutes for my latte to cool enough that I could drink it (What? I have a sensitive mouth. Don't judge.), I saw that there was a tiny hair on top of the foam. It looked like an eyelash or an eyebrow hair. I took it up to the counter and they whipped me up a new one in no time. Now, the hair could have been my husbands, as he brought the cup to our table, but better to be safe than have hair in your mouth.

Here's an example of why the original Cherry Street location will always have a special place my heart: One morning I was suffering a bit after a long night out and just wanted to get my regular cuppa joe so I could limp into work, and I caught a glimpse of the list the guy in front of me had to order. My heart sank, knowing that my coffee would be queued up behind what appeared to be the order for an entire team. The guy stepped up, and rattled off his list, which turned out to be a single coffee. Something along the lines of "Double tall, extra hot, split shot, skinny, sugar-free vanilla mocha with extra whip." The barista paused, blinked at the guy a couple of times and said "Dude. That is most ridiculous thing I've ever heard." The guy exclaimed "I have no idea what I just ordered, it's for my boss!" but took the ribbing good-naturedly. And I didn't have to wait that much longer for my coffee, so everyone was happy.

I don't know how it's possible to pack so much hipster nonsense under one roof! This place is my go-to spot during my lunch hour. The food and coffee are great. I love their Egyptian lentil soup and BLT sandwiches (though not together). Free wifi, a couch, and staff that will always be cooler than me... I'll be coming here 2-3 times a week between 12-1pm as long as I work near Pioneer Square.

I really enjoyed this place. Excellent latte, cozy atmosphere & even a couple small tables outside that make sense on a good day. I didn't sample the breakfast or lunch offerings, but spent a while hanging out & relaxing. The cookies were really tempting... next time.

Another day, another breakfast. Once again, I let yelp guide me into the door. It was morning rush so there was quite a crowd ordering. People at the counter were a motley crue that looked like something out of a sitcom. I got a mocha and a sausage, peppers, egg and cheese wrap. Here's another place that won't take American Express. They have a nice dining area downstairs where you can take your time and eat your breakfast. My wrap was good although it didn't stay wrapped - should've chosen something with a less chewy filling. As for breakfast this place did the trick - If I actually worked here in this area I'd probably stop here all the time.
