Food: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Pizza places are always a pleasant surprise to me! Good pizza places at least. This is a quaint little restaurant, perfect for a casual date or to meet up friends. Went on random weeknight with no reservations and got seated immediately. The menu is a littttttle bougie, a lot of Italian words, mainly different types of salumis, without English translations/descriptions to help. But the servers are super knowledgable and helpful!! We got the - tortas frittas with prosciutto di San Daniele: .... So let me start by saying I suggested getting the tortas frittas because I saw that someone on yelp had called them little pillows of heaven. They were. It was basically the savory version of Tom Douglas donuts! Top em off with some prosciutto and I woulda been happy snackin on that all night! The prosciutto was soooo flavorful and tender. - Pork belly bruschetta: THE ONION MOSTARDA!!!!!! This was maybe.... My favorite of the night. It comes in threes and there were three of us so I only had one :( very sad. - Porchetta pizza and one other one that I can't find on their menu online and I forgot the name. It had jalepenos on it. I liked that one better than the Porchetta one. The pizzas are thin crust and are pretty simple. Maybe I'll go back and try to find a more adventurous one to taste. - cocktails were well crafted and pretty cheap! I think 9$? Service was also pretty awesome :) there was a pretty big gap between our first and second pizzas so the second one was on the house without us even mentioning anything. Honestly we were busy talking and didn't really notice/mind the gap. They are also collecting donations for a children's charity so we donated the price of the pizza to their charity of choice instead. They also gave out little samples of cooked pasta with the check!

Really liked the atmosphere (classy and romantic but not stuffy or pretentious) and the cocktails, which were unique and tasty. The food was good too, but I'd come back just to drink and maybe split a pizza.

We sat at the bar during my visit. Our bartender was great. The beet salad had interesting flavours and the Aperol spritz I ordered was made perfectly! I'm looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu.

Go for the salumi three-pack and get Proscuitto di Parma, Culatello, and wildcard the third option. Don't forget to order the torta fritta and wrap it with your selections. The funghi pizza was great last time, but the salsiccia is pure salvation. Trade up.

I've been trying to not throw out the 5 stars on all Seattle Restaurants, but here I am again with a 5 star review. But this place deserves it! Bar Cotto has an amazing Salumi selection. They make their own porchetta and these salty savory beignets (tortas) to go with. The tortas are necessary in my opinion. I saw one review that said they are too salty. Of course they are salty. It's a super salty appetizer before your amazingly savory meal. They are perfect just the way they are, leave my little tortas frittas alone. We also had the pork belly bruschetta with onion mostarda, which was of course amazing. Super tender, slightly acidic, LOTS of pork belly all on crunchy bread. And I could not get over their fresh thin crust pizza. Oh, also.. the staff! So nice, so accommodating, and very friendly. The place was packed and they were still very attentive, and more than willing to give opinions on the menu. We may have a new "regular" place.

Stopped in here for happy hour one Saturday recently right as they opened and sat at the bar. We had a great experience. First off, the service was amazing. The bartender was super friendly and helpful and would answer all of our weird questions about their infused syrups and mixed drinks. For drinks, we got the happy hour red which was a very good Montepulciano and the Pike Brewing Kilt Lifter. We started off by ordering the Salumi plate with Torta Fritta, which are little pillows of fried bread topped with butter and salt and are a MUST get. All three meats were so flavorful and were amazing when paired with the Torta Fritta. The bartender gave us a free pour of Lambrusco to go with our Salumi plate and it was perfect! Definitely ordering that next time. We also got the Guanciale pizza, which was delicious. It was a good sized pizza for two, especially after sharing a Salumi plate. Overall, we enjoyed our experience here and will definitely be back.

We had a reservation for 8:00pm on a Saturday. We arrived at 8:10 pm, and were told that our table was still occupied by a party who had finished eating and paid, but were lingering. Unfortunately they continued to linger until nearly 9pm. There is nothing the restaurant could have done about this, but it was annoying nonetheless. Upon finally being seated, we were immediately given olives and roasted almonds by the manager, who apologized for the long wait and indicated that these snacks were "on the house." Unfortunately, when we received the bill, we noticed that we were charged for these two items. Not very classy! We ordered an assortment of salads and pizzas. The salads were all excellent. The pizzas were fine but not great. I'd categorize them as a bit heavy. The restaurant had club music playing at full volume. This made it impossible to speak to each other. We were essentially shouting at each other all night. There was nothing here that makes me want to come back.

I do have a man crush on Ethan Stowell. I love all his places and this is no exception. Primarily geared towards Pizza and cured meats it is a small and cozy, well appointed restaurant. Service is solid and the aged drinks are superb! I don't think you could go wrong if you closed your eyes and pointed at the menu. Another winner in the Stowell empire.....but I still hope he doesn't open any other places....his attention is getting spread too thin!

Once upon a time I was a vegetarian. And while I do tend to avoid meat I will never, ever give it up. Bar Cotto is one of the reasons I can't commit. Salumi! So much wonderful salumi!! And I ate it all. Ask your sever for recommendations, you cannot go wrong with their guidance. Get 3 different meats, at least. You'd be a fool not to accompany the salty, meaty goodness with an order of torta fritta: puffed doughy morsels that slightly melt your salumi prior to eating. The pizza is perfection and I haven't had a disappointing small plate to date, ask if they have any specials as the menu changes often. Perfect spot for a date that likes to share or a group of four. The more mouths the more meat options!

Ended up here for happy hour. The place is cute...vintage chic and small. The bartender was great! Super attentive and just a genuine person. The food menu is on the lighter side with mainly just cured meats and pizza, but you can definitely still fill up here. My favorite salumi tonight was one that they actually make in house.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. I am such a fan. I can't believe last night was my first time there. Located in the Capitol Hill area, closer to the residential side sit this small Ethan Stowell pizza joint. I shared the roasted pork belly with onions bruchetta and the parma pizza with my friend. (1) The roasted pork belly was so tender and yummy a little fatty but that's okay cause you know I love it!! The bruchetta bread was perfectly softy and chewy bread toasted to perfection. They drizzled some balsamic vinegar and some kind of mustard sauce with it which was amaaazing. Best starter I've had at a restaurant by far. (2) The parma pizza was a little bland in taste but I was so in love with the pizza dough that nothing else really mattered. Italian pizza is my absolute favorite and this dough did not dissapoint!!! nom nom nom. I think the prosciutto could've been a bit more salty. On other notes, my friend ordered a drink similar to a mimosa. But I think it not only had white wine in it but gin. Lol who makes two little asian girls a strong drink??? Haha but the bartender was really nice and cool and chill. Really great restaurant!! :)

Oh, charcuterie. I can't remember the names of anything we ordered during our time here, but we demolished all of it. They have a wide selection of meats of whose names I cannot pronounce. We ordered the board that came with five types. The one that was least liked amongst the spread we ordered was the speck. The peppered one and the spicy coppa were the favorites of the bunch. Slightly less exciting but still worth mentioning is that we ordered a pizza also. The carnivore lifestyle. Special paragraph for torta frittas--fried salty dough pillows to eat with your meat. There's about seven in an order. We must've ordered it four times for three people..

I'm always on the lookout for a nice authentic Italian pizza place. Unfortunately this is not it. Everything was very heavily salted and the cheese on the pizza was tough to chew. I despise places that over-salt; salt is cheap trick to make food taste better. It takes real talent to make a salt-less savory masterpiece. HOWEVER, the pork belly bruschetta was delicious.

Finally got in on a Friday night and thoroughly enjoyed the salumi sampler and the porchetta pizza. The torta fritta are salty chewy dough balls of heavenly goodness though, I could eat about 1,000,000 of these. I also liked the wine list - lots of good NW wines at reasonable prices. We got a 2004 Kiona Syrah for under $40 (score). The corono bean salad wasn't all that great, honestly, even after it came recommended by the server. Beans were a little bland and the whole thing just didn't do much for me. I think I'd try something more savory next time. We were seated close to the door and every time someone went in or out it got pretty chilly. I know the space is small, but it'd be nice if they put up some kind of curtain or something that prevented the drafts of cold air from freezing your ass off. Sitting there wearing a jacket didn't feel like a workable solution. Note, I've tried to go here a couple of times and been turned away because the place is full. Definitely make a reservation if you can, not hard with Open Table.

Meh. We got a couple of pizzas from here, and they were not spectacular. The porchetta had way too much lemon zest, to the point where it was bitter. I can't even remember the other pizza we got, if that tells you anything. Their other menu items might be better.

Tried this place out on a recommendation from a friend for a hot happy hour spot (half off pizzas, discounted beer and wine). I am a pizza fanatic, so that sounded awesome. TBH, I was disappointed. - Ambiance: the spot is nice, clean, and airy, with cozy booths, but the casual yet sophisticated vibe was thrown off by the dance music... that was a little weird. - Service: too perky and eager to please. But, that is better than indifferent, so maybe I'm being ridiculous to complain about that. I'm just used to Seattle-style (read: aloof) servers. - Food: Tried the salame and the salsiccia - so glad we were there during HH. Thought that ~$8 per pizza was reasonable for the quality, but that was at half price. I can't quite put my finger on it... the quality of the ingredients was good, they were hot and fresh, but the 'MMMMmmmMm' factor was missing and it was a little greasy. I suggest cheating with MSG. Or tweaking the recipes. Dunno. - Drinks: Sour Sunday was fine (very attractive, but not craft quality delicious). On the other hand, the tequila-based I Blame My Mother was AWESOME. That was the best part of this excursion. Mmmmmm! I will definitely come back during HH and see if they've perfected the food (it's a new restaurant, afterall), but I would not spring for full-priced menu right now.

Looking for something causal to eat before a movie at (close-ish) Central Cinema, we stopped in Bar Cotta. Bar Cotta was crowded, but some seats opened up the a bar. Intimate feel and efficient service. Bypaassing the Salumi (listed on the wall), we opted to spend our carbs on pizza and veggies. The brussel sporouts (with breadcrumbs and salasa verde) and carrots (wioth amond, mint and saba) came out before the pizza. Perfectly flavored in the wood grill and rightly portioned for two of us to share. Only to be toped by the Saliccia pizza with housemade fennel sausage. Having been to Chuck-E-Cheese that morning for a kid's birthday party, I can say that it was only after Bar Cotta that I'd really eaten pizza.

I wasn't that impressed - I was expecting a lot from Ethan Stowell but I've had way better pizza at a ton of places in Seattle. There was barely any topping, some of it was burnt, etc. Service was good as always but the place is supposed to be for pizza and I would never get pizza again. I did like the cured meats and some of the appetizers but overall if I want pizza in Seattle I can go to Tutta Bella and if I want a good dependable Ethan Stowell restaurant I'll go to mkt (which I LOVED) or Tavolata or even Staple and Fancy.

Pros: Bar Cotto has food that tastes fresh from Italy, and I have been to Italy and I can say that this is the closest taste to being back in Rome I have tasted in all of Seattle. The place, has a very clean and crisp design inside with the light blue paint color and the chic wall accents. The open concept kitchen and dining area provides an enjoyable experience where you can watch the chefs make your meal for you while you are waiting. The staff is super friendly, always smiling and checking up on you to see how they can help. This is not to be confused with an intrusive waiter. The music is indie mellow background music which completes the trendy atmosphere. Cons: The food, while AMAZING! takes forever to cook! Do not chit chat before ordering your food. Order immediately, then chit chat. The food comes out as it is ready rather than all at once, which on the positive side means that it is served fresh. Overall: This is an up and coming trendy place to hang out or go on a casual date. Fresh olive oil with the hand baked bread, the 5 sampler of prosciutto (speck is the best), and the roasted mushrooms are a must for a first timer!

An order of torts frita, salumi, and veggie sides = best happy hour or dinner meal. The service is always spot on, porchetta is to die for (but I have yet to order anything yucky), and the location is perfect (i.e. close to where I live). Highly recommend happy hour - $8 pizza's and very affordable salumi.

Went here on a Sunday night with a friend. The place was lively with some good music playing. The staff there was really cheerful and spot on with their recommendations. The wood frying oven inside the restaurant for you to see while you are seated on your table, the extensive list of salumi meats for you to create your own salumi plate, the diffused lighting, and different wines standing on one wall all add to the ambiance of the place. For food we ordered the N'duja pie and the roasted acorn squash salad. The pie was delicious with really well cooked salami, and melting burrata cheese. For libations there is full bar with a good selection of cocktails and wines both red and white. Overall a great experience and I am definitely going back to try the other pies.

Bingo'd to BarCotto after trying a walk-in at big brother place, next door, Anchovies and Olives (restaurant week is always such a bummer for regular eaters. Sigh.) per recommendation of chef who saw our plight. Great alternative -- ordered up most of the verdura along with buratta and simple bianco pizza -- all, super. Friendly staff, easy choice for yummy chow (one recommendation: would iike more radicchio and less farro in the eponymous salad). Beer and wine list is high calibre match.

Among the best pizza I've had in Seattle (better than Serious Pie by a bunch in my view) ... great flavorful, thin but crispy crust which has some elasticity ... they could give you a bit more fresh mozzarella on the Margherita and special pizza I ordered which featured the fresh cheese. My special pizza was packed with fresh baby artichokes but could have used also just a bit more of the roasted garlic they said was to be on there. The tuna bruschetta was fabulous too, as was the service. The mint gelato sandwich was out of this world fabulous ... I'm still talking about it and want to go back for another (I offer my husband a bite and he, uncharacteristically, ate half of the dessert) ... gelato is smooth and minty and is sandwiched between two perfectly crisp on the outside somewhat chewy on the inside chocolate cookies, which are dusted on each side with large sugar crystals. It's served with chocolate and mint sauces, which are good, but superfluous, in my view. My husband enjoyed his Barbera by the glass ... We'll definitely be back.

The Salumi was great, however the pizza wasn't as good as I expected it to be. They seemed like Mioposto knock offs.... Just not as good. We actually ordered take out which is normally what we do at Mioposto but maybe our expectations were just too high. We had the Funghi and Patata. We may go back and try again for a Eat In dinner.

If to you bread, craft salumi & wine are the three food groups , then Ethan Stowell's Bar Cotto has you covered, and then some. Bar Cotto is a very small atmospheric restaurant adjacent to Stowell's Anchovy & Olives, with its own wood fire oven, and limited, cozy seating: ten tables for two and ten seats along a bar. The back half of the restaurant is taken up by a white subway tiled pizza oven and a stylish open prep area for pizza, bruschetta & salads, which along with homemade salumi, constitute almost the entire menu for Bar Cotto. This is a pizza, salumi, salad & drinks spot, and it does these things very well in a sophisticated yet wood-hewn, rustic setting. I kept calling this place Bar Coppa all night, as my husband laughed on and on. This must have been due to a Freudian slip given the prolific amounts of great homemade salami, porchetta, coppa & spec wafting by on wooden boards. Or perhaps someone slipped me an unusually strong glass of Sangiovese. Either way, it fits, as this place is very meat forward. They even make their own hard-to-find namesake: prosciutto cotto. The pizza here is excellent, particularly the truffle & mushroom. Interesting that one of the better pizzas here contains no meat at all, but a tasty truffle, trumpet, fior di latte combo with a chewy, crisp crust & baked at very high temperatures, just like we like it. A good pizza experience, nice atmosphere, and a tiny, intimate spot where you can enjoy grabbing a bite with a few friends who like meat & bread and bread and meat and meat & bread, oh, and wine, beer or cocktails. Carb-bomb-tastic!

I love this place. If you want an awesome salumi board with a good glass of wine, you can't beat this place. I would highly recommend the burrata with eggplant. It's fantastic. If you want something besides pizza, meats, and cheese, probably better off going somewhere else. Otherwise, you'll love this place.

It's fine. I have no complaints. But, in a city where great pizza abounds, Bar Cotto doesn't stand out. Via Trib and even Tutta Bella have Bar Cotto beat, hands down. I wouldn't turn down an offer to eat here, but it doesn't rank as a "must try" either. Ballard Pizza Company is epic-- so not quite sure what went awry here!

Dined here on a rainy (in Seattle, who would have thought) Saturday night. We had a 9:30 dinner reservation we got on Opentable and we're seated about five minutes after arriving on time. The place is small so even if you have a reservation a slow to finish table could end up forcing you to wait if you are a party of four. On to the good stuff. We started with a couple appetizers and cocktails. The Spiced Summer cocktail was delicious, I would definitely get this again. The barrel aged manhattan was also very good. The star of the night, however was the Salumi! We had the house made Porchetta, the hot coppa, and the prosciutto San something(?) and the torta fritta which were little bread pillows sent from the gods. All of the Salumi were delicious, I would opt to try 5 next time. We also had the anchovy bruschetta, this was the lowlight of the meal - wouldn't get this again. For dinner we had the Porchetta (couldn't skip this after that appetizer), the N'duja and the Artichoke. We liked them in that order as well. The Porchetta pizza is fantastic... It has a pesto base and usually I'm a tomato guy but this was the perfect combo with that crispy crust and the soft Porchetta. Yum! For dessert we had the mint cookie and the rhubarb casserole. Both were great but the mint cookie sandwich was better. I will definitely be back for more cocktails and Porchetta on a future visit!

I have never had a bad experience, I often make this my go to place when someone is visiting me. SO delicious, and they have a decent wine selection. Pretty quiet, make a reservation they can be really busy. I have been on a tuesday and it was packed.

One of the best happy hour deals in the area - full size pizzas for 1/2 of the normal price. And these are some delicious pizzas. Don't expect mountains of toppings and a fluffy crust - you will be disappointed. This is pizza for those who like a crisp thin crust with high-quality, flavorful and well-portioned toppings. Starters are great as well - I highly recommend the torta fritta (think savory doughnuts) as well as the castellano olives if they have them. I've only been weekdays for happy hour, but the service has always been attentive and it's easy to get a table.

Love this place! Great Happy Hour! We enjoyed the pizza, salumi, bruscheta, and drinks. Everything was excellent. Bartender Graham was fun to watch as he performed his craft with great precision.

I have been here a few times now. The drinks are top-notch. Most of the items I've had here were also very good including the pizzas, the burrata with eggplant, the crostinis, and the meat board. And the kitchen was very apologizing when we told them one of our dishes was too generously salted. The only thing I would like to see is more of a rotation of new items onto the menu. While I have my favorites from the menu, it would be nice to see some new items.

Bar Cotto is the Essex of Delancy. It is the Artusi to the Spinasse. It is the Walrus and the Carpenter to the Staple and Fancy Mercantile. It is the Quoin to the Revel. She's like the hip Italian younger sister of Anchovies and Olives, fresh off the plane and breathlessly excited to tell you all about speck and Americano Cocchi and sour pizza dough. If you're having a hard time following these, let break it down for you: It can serve for a great holding cell bar/eatery (once described to me as purgatory...) for another larger dining experience, but can hold it's own quite well. It's not an easy feat that Bar Cotto accomplished. Stay at Bar Cotto for some awesome cocktails, impeccable pizza and salume sliced with ineffable precision? Or go next door for spectacular oysters and seafood? Ethan, you make #firstworldproblems so hard on us! I had no idea this place existed, rumors at the bar spoke of it being open a week. While hearing of the influx of new bars and restaurants popping up in Ballard, Queen Anne and downtown, I was sure I'd hear of a new Ethan Stowell delight next to Anchovies and Olives. But I hadn't and was excited to be dragged here by a C-Hill 15th Ave denizen more clearly in the know than I. The space is tight with two tops and cozy banquettes aplenty. The bar stools were small and in an L-shape, forcing us to befriend neighbors at the bar and try their meats. Cocktails were $9, cheaper and expected, and delicious- featuring nice spinoffs of Negroni's, Old-Fashioneds and other classic cocktails with Italians amaros used prominently. While I can't pretend to remember all the details about the meats available, I promise they had a great selection with hearty portions- the 5 for $25 selection plate available (do ask your server to recommend their fave 5) was an ample pile of paper thin cured meat goodness. We started with crimini mushrooms, buffalo mozzarella and crostini to snack on and was very pleased, the vinegary tang of the marinated mushrooms paired well with creamy mozzarella. Also tried the pizza after neighbors at the bar raved about their "sour" pizza and demanded we try a slice before we go. Curious, we tasted a slice and it was heavenly- cheese and cured meats (great veggie options too here, btw) melted into a fluffy, sourdough-ish woodfired crust-not too thin or thick, still chewy but with a satisfying crack-crunch from the underside of a proper thin-crust. The pizzas could feed 2 easily and make Bar Cotto a awesome choice for quality pizza on this side of the hill. Overall, highly impressed with the place, from the food, to the service (Kyle our bartender was fantastic) to the whole vibe of the place. I imagine this place may blow up soon, so get in while you still can!

Amazing pizza!! Seriously the best pizza I've had in Seattle. If you're into cured meats, their prosciutto selection is divine. AND get the donuts. Unlike other restaurants that serve their meat boards with crackers or bread, this place serves them with donuts. so YUM. The only downfall to this place is that its super tiny, so the wait is a bit long if you're in a bigger party. I definitely will be back though. Food was so yum

My friend and I had such a fun happy hour experience here! First off, our waitress was one of the sweetest women, and was refreshingly passionate about her job, the food, and the whole place. When we asked her questions about the menu she responded with details and enthusiasm, and after trying the food, could see why. We only shared a few small plates but the pizza and bean salad were both delicious. I didn't expect much from a bean salad, but the corona beans were GIGANTIC and flavorful and the added rosemary, currants, and cauliflower created a perfect blend. The pizzas are also incredible- the authentic Italian style that I love. Happy hour was a great way to sample a variety of their dishes, as well as their drinks. They offer HH twice a day, from 4 to 6pm and again from 10 to 11pm. With such a cute ambience, incredible staff, and fresh Italian food with a twist, it's definitely going to be a new favorite on the hill.

Ethan Stowell rarely disappoints, and Bar Cotto is yet another example of his exquisite dining visions. Although the space itself is a pinch smaller than I'd imagined from the outside, the tables and open bar/kitchen concept are situated to utilize the area efficiently, and even with the proximity of tables being somewhat intimately spaced, I never felt like I was on top of or intruding on another party's business. I came here with a date after a quick beverage at an unusually raucous night at Poco, and it was such a relief to retreat here to get some peace so that we could talk to one another without dealing with a shouting bachelorette party. we didn't order any food but each had a cocktail. His was the Sunday Sour, refreshing and light with a graceful hint of rosemary, and mine was the Blessed Thistle, rich, sweet, and indulgent (as brandy cocktails should be, and dare I say a borderline aperitif drink?). although we only had one drink here before moving on, we both agreed that the menu looked tasty and I was definitely eyeballing other tables when their vittles came out hot and fragrant from the kitchen area. I'll definitely be back!

Great selection of salamis that would make nonna proud. Not 100% authentic Italian food, but I appreciate the innovative menu. The ambience is one of my favorites in Seattle, the cocktails are yum, and it's perfect for dates! I recommend the mushroom pizza and the pork-belly bruschetta :) se sei Calabrese, per favore non ordinare la pizza con nduja.

Meat, meat and more meat. The salumi is out of this world. I could have eaten it all night long. We ordered a platter, and my only regret is that we could only tried three of the meats. I would have preferred smaller portions and more variety. They paired it with a great fried dough dipped in sugar. Doesn't sound like it would work, but holy smokes were those things addictive. We did add a pizza to at least appear to be civilized. The crust is light and crunchy. It holds its own compared to some of the other high end pizza joints in the city. Finally, I had a couple of glasses of the fizzy red wine. It too was easy to go down, and if I were not careful could have easily had a couple more.

Bar Cotto has some killer pizza and salami selections! Their happy hour menu offers fairly large pizzas for only $8 and several beers at $3, so you can never go wrong with the food! The staff is VERY friendly, but the service is rather slow. I have eaten at Bar Cotto several times now (4) and the experience has been the same each time, regardless of how many other guests are in the restaurant. If you are okay with a very laid back, slow dining experience, then you will enjoy! If you're looking to get in, be seated, grab and beer and have your food come instantly, then this probably isn't the best option for you.

Bar Cotto is billed as a cured meats restaurant, but what keeps me coming back is the excellent pizza. The crust is crisp and flavorful and the topping have been excellent and inventive. Great happy hour menu with cheap, generous pours of wine, every day from 4-6 pm and after 10 pm.

This new bar is stylish, and amazingly convenient to my home. However, as a vegetarian and not a huge pizza fan, I found the food to be meh. The wine selection and drinks were amazing, though. I ended up having some of their meats (3 for $18), a salami with porcini mushrooms, a chorizo, and one other dry, hard meat which was supposed to be picante but wasn't very spicy at all. We tried the salty donut with the meat, which was interesting, though not as amazing as how the waiter described it. We also tried the roasted fennel - the preserved lemons were the highlight here, as the fennel was a bit tough and hard to cut into for some reason. I had a Sunday Something (I forget the drink's full name but you should be able to pick it out as the only Sunday name on the menu!) which was citrusy spicy delish, and came with a rosemary branch as a garnish - cute. I also had a Lambrusco, which is a sparkling RED wine and I don't see it much out. It was nice and summery! The bar itself is very stylish and modern, but still a little "lived in" feeling - white walls, gray concrete, black wire lanterns, distressed wood shelves. Service was very cheerful, but she was so good at descriptions that I actually felt like the food was oversold, and ended up being a bit disappointed by what really came to my table.

Bar Cotto was great. Cozy, great bruschetta, solid drinks, and a good place to catch up with a friend who lives out of the city because parking wasn't terrible.

Bar Cotto -- my favorite Parma-style Italian restaurant. Aside from loving all that Ethan Stowell does, this restaurant holds a special place in my heart: charcuterie, torta fritta, and lambrusco. I crave the thinly sliced salumi over fresh fried dough with the dry bubbles of a lambrusco rosso to pair. Please go if only to enjoy a taste of Parma in this way.

Wonderful pizza. We got the Parma, which had a lovely thin crust and a great red sauce to go along with fresh arugula and prosciutto. The burrata appetizer was delicious thanks to the eggplant/olive tapenade. The escarole salad was the perfect starter, as were the cocktails.

Stretchy, crispy pizza, delicious! Best part is daily happy hour 4-6 and 10-11. $3 beer and $8-10 pizzas.

Recently went to happy hour with some friends at Bar Cotto for the first time and I have to say I like this place. Even though its on Capitol hill with very little parking Bar Cotto is an nice quaint place with great staff good pizza and decent prices.

I love Ethan Stowell and everything he touches, so it's no suprise I'm obsessed with Bar Cotto. The salumi plates are amazing and the little fried dough balls are the perfect accompaniment. The wine selection is great and the pizza (especially that crust) is to die for! I wasn't a huge fan of the chicken liver pâté bruschetta, but everything else we ordered was spot on. This was a perfect date spot and I will defnitely be back with my hunny. The restaurant is rustic yet modern, and super tiny. We tried to get a good reservation for a few days before going, but in the end called the day-of and managed to squeeze in. But such is an Ethan Stowell restaurant!

Come for Happy Hour, stay for more food after. We went here as a family on Thanksgiving Eve. Daughter had to work that day, so she napped and met us there while we toured a few local microbreweries. When we arrived, she had the most amazing salumi platter and happy hour cocktail. We got in on a few drinks before 6 pm arrived. The menu is mostly wood-fired pizzas and vegetable dishes (verdura) and a selection of salume/bruschetta. The five of us made a meal out of some pizzas and vegetables. The baked kale with cheeses (Lacinato Kale Gratin) is out of this world! Everything was tasty and arrived timely and hot. Service by Michael was excellent. We all shared a couple of desserts, both of which were rich & tasty (I had some high octane cocktail on the menu, so don't remember the fine details). Glad we fortified with some other snacks at Schooner Exact and Pyramid, for it is a bit spendy here. Everything is a la carte. So I have had somewhat better food and much better value in Seattle, but was overall very satisfied with our experience. I would go back, and would show up 5:00-ish for some Happy Hour specials, and then maybe a shared pizza and verdura or dessert after 6. Our first experience with Ethan Stowell...Tom whats-his-name has some competition for best eclectic restaurant family!

My review hasn't changed--we've just repeated this excellent dining experience another half-dozen times! Same thing: 1 bottle of wine, 1 plate of salumi with torta fritta and 1 pizza. Multiply by however many two-somes are eating. My new favorite restaurant in Capitol Hill!

The food here is delicious, and the service is great too. The restaurant had made a mistake with our reservation, but handled the situation very well. Our waiter was very helpful when we were picking out items for the salumi plate. We also had two of the roasted pork belly bruschetta and the chicken liver pate bruschetta. Both were tasty, but the chicken liver pate was incredible. All the pizzas we tried were very good. Be sure to try the Torta Frita, which is fantastic.

Great neighborhood spot for delicious pizza, We also enjoyed three types of meats! Simple menu that goes well with red wine! Our server was delightful and did a great job of being friendly but not trying to be our best friend! Tonight is my son-in-laws birthday and we are going to order take out. I've only been to Seattle once but ate Bar Cotto pizza twice during my visit. I guess that says a lot about how good it is!!

Really good happy hour. Nice sized pizza for $8. Had an Last word and a Eagle at the bar and both were super good. If you're grabbing drinks there, just let the bartender do his thing. He made me some great drinks i had never tried before.

The pizza *looks* great, and during happy hour is well priced. Service efficient and courteous. But, sad to say, the dominant flavor is salt. Otherwise bland crust and toppings. Even the prosciutto lacked umami. Good selection of happy hour wine and beer and great, Italo-centric wine list, although it does lack sub $30 options outside of happy hour. It seems like Mr. Stowell is letting his accountant make the final call on ingredients and pricing, which keeps him from achieving the value equation offered by Serious Pie and other Tom Douglas establishments. Premium prices raise expectations for premium flavor, and Bar Cotto misses the mark. With some fine tuning, this could be a great place. Finally, the music is just too loud--unless the goal is to distract from the tepid flavors; if so, then it needs to be louder.

O...M...M...G...I have to share...I have a problem. I have a problem where I am a super-sucker for amazing salumi, and if I could, I would go here every day, for every meal, until my heart gave out. It's that good. I've been a few times, always with a group or date, and I have never had anything less than an amazing experience. The selection of salumi is outstanding, and the pairing of the wines and other items are great. I've done the salumi plate, which is a steal, and always get the tiny warm bread things to go with the prosciutto. With this, I've probably tried everything on the menu, and I can gladly say that there is something for everyone. Whether it's been the bar or a table, I've gotten amazing service and friendly folks to talk with and get recommendations from. Such a gem, and I'm really grateful that it's joined the neighborhood.

Oh, Bar Cotto, how I love you. Happy Hour here is really all I need in life. Okay.. maybe and Mexican food and coffee, too. But man, is this place good. Half priced pizzas during HH making them $8 for a good sized pie, and $3 for good draft beer? You really can't beat that. It's only 3 blocks from my house, dangerously too close when it's 10pm and I need food after running around all day. I highly suggest - every pizza I've gotten has been fabulous! Ask for the red pepper oil, because more oil on my pizza is never a bad thing, especially when it adds spice.

After disappointing experiences at Tavolata and Staple and Fancy, I was surprised to find myself giving Ethan Stowell's restaurants another chance. I'm glad I did, because Bar Cotto's simple but well-executed menu is exactly the kind of stuff that I like. As other reviewers noted, this is something of a semi-formal salumeria. Aside from their signature product, they offer pizzas that are excellent and small plates that are somewhat less memorable. My favorite dish of the evening was the porchetta, which I enjoyed even more than the same product from Salumi themselves (high praise!) Prices are reasonable and service is okay. Recommended.

As my relationship with Salumi is getting serious day by day, this restaurant is becoming dangerously close to being a favorite!!! I finally had a chance to try their salumi plate and it is absolutely incredibly fantastic!! For anybody's first time, I highly recommend their PORCHETTA!!! Its cooked pork belly with pepper which is aged after. Quite possibly one of the yummiest ones I've had! The staff and bartender are all very friendly and kind enough to explain what is in every meat you're having as well. I also love the Sopressata Picante, salami and Pancetta. Pair that with good company, wine, beer or have the bartender make you a special drink (they have some good drinks!) to make a very happy evening!!! We also ordered some Torta Fritta which was hot and fresh and went perfectly with the salumi. Excellent place for a date or some good times with friends!!!!

Food and wine was great! The marlin bruschetta was our wild card choice of the night and it was delicious. Justin was our server for the evening who was very knowledgeable and helpful when picking the wine and the food. Definitely will be going again.

So jealous of my friend Jason who lives in the building above Bar Cotto! Loved the intimate feel, great cocktails, and to-die-for pizza. I normally avoid pizza at restaurants given we eat it too often with the kids... but this pizza was light, airy, with the perfect balance of crust, seasoning, and toppings. We had the spicy Coppa pizza with pesto and it was gone in minutes. Cocktails were yummy (I had something sour with grapefruit) and we also tried the roasted fennel and pork belly bruschetta (which was a bit on the rich side). This is the kind of place I would pop into a couple times a week if I lived closer!

I highly recommend the 5 kinds of meat for $25, paired with some slices of bread. Delicious, lots of volume, and pretty-looking served on a wooden platter. Didn't try pizza, but after i read other reviewers, i feel like i must next time.

If salumi is your thing, then Bar Cotto should be your place. The new Ethan Stowell place on 15th Ave. (next door to Anchovies and Olives) opened a few days ago and if there were ever any kinks, well, they already worked them out. We walked in without reservations and were seated immediately at one of the (zinc-topped?) tables along the wall with the wine rack behind us and a window into A&O. The atmosphere is modern but not cold, the service is good without being unctuous, and the food and drinks are superb. Think Italian small plates, not composed meals. We enjoyed the spicy coppa, the porchetta (which please note is NOT mock porchetta) and a bruschetta of rapini, chickpeas, and anchovies. All of these things were done about as well as you could want; the porchetta literally melts in your mouth without any chewing, and left me weak-kneed if not slack-jawed. I usually compare and contrast food and speculate what I would do differently. I just found myself enjoying without pondering. We did not try the pizza, that will be for another visit. We had two rounds of drinks; I enjoyed the Blessed Thistle so much I ordered it a second time (Brandy, Carpano Antiqua, and Cardamaro--which is cardoon-based, so smoother than Cynar) and it perfectly complemented the salumi; my friend had a Negroni and then ordered The Old Loathesome Bastard, which is a barrel-aged cocktail so smooth you could run silk over it (Old Overholt, Averna, Strega, and Pur Blood Orange). The food is sophisticated--Italian with strong, well-seasoned flavors--not something I would think that children would enjoy, even though there is pizza on the menu; this is a place to go for a drink and a bite, some conversation. The hard surfaces and great modern music do make for a loudish experience, but not unpleasant. Prices are not cheap, but the quality is high and flavors are assertive, I don't think you will go away famished, but you can always order more small plates.

Brought BF & gal-pal to eat there the other night- really great experience! Ambience is lovely, clean and comfortable. Purse hooks at the bar. Thank you!! Salumi! Yes. Porchetta, Petite Jesu, Spicy Coppa- $18. PORRRRRCHETTTAAAA. Pizza- Guanciale, and a Buffala. Love me some sauce that actually tastes like tomatoes! Beautiful, thin, crispy, flavorful crust. Obviously fresh cheese. Ate more than I ought to have. Cocktails- lovely. Sweet bartender, new to town- overheard how he enjoys making his own bitters and fernet. Dude crafts his drinks and it shows. The I Blame My Mother, is both fitting and delicious. Wide wine selection as well, also did not partake. Shall return!

Super cozy! They were really sweet, grabbing me a pillow upon which to prop my cast-encased ankle and not blinking an eye over it. The food was much like that at Rhione and the wine list smaller but still had a decent selection. The burrata was phenomenal but I think I'll pass on the pickled chanterelle bruschetta next time, I love mushrooms but pickling isn't my thing.

Great spot for food, chill, eat. I want to go back. Sat at the bar and the service was great. I think I was sitting next to one of the chefs (day off) cause everyone knew him. Nice guy, he would go grab my food when it was ready. Pizza, meat board, beers were all tasty. Did I say I want to go back?? Small place so plan smart.

Great date place! Very down to earth staff. Everyone was helping everyone get stuff done. The owner sliced then brought our Salumi to the table and explained the meat and told us details of each meat. What an extra special touch! It was absolutely FANTASTIC!! The Torta Fritta is a MUST! Tips: The lighting is very soft, so not good for pictures. Also, would not recommend for young children as it is more of an adult restaurant.

This restaurant may be a salumeria rather than a pizzeria, but it could have fooled me. The pizza crust is thin and crisp. It lacks the magic of Serious Pie, but then again, the restaurant also lacks the crowds. Small though this place may be, it doesn't fill up--at least while I've been there. And if you're lucky enough to catch the 4-6pm happy hour, you can enjoy a whole pizza for eight dollars. Unsurprisingly, where this place really shines is its meats. The house porchetta is savory, delectable, and absolutely not to be missed. Try as many plates as you can and bring a friend to maximize your tasting options. If you absolutely must come alone, park yourself at the sleek metal bar for a friendly chat with Kyle the bartender. For the more morose, enjoy your food undisturbed at one of the small tables along the wall while you ogle the open pizza counter and oven. For beer aficionados, the place has a small but carefully thought out selection of beer, mostly in bottles. Currently, the only beers on tap are the Elysian Immortal IPA and Roger's Pilsner. Wine lovers will have better luck. Bar Cotto is small, trendy, and delicious. I'll be visiting again soon before the rest of Seattle catches on.

The staff are knowledgeable regarding food, wine, and spirits. The pizza selection is great - I've had a few now and have yet to have any complaints. The food prices are reasonable considering prices at restaurants in the area, and Blaze makes helluva good manhattan!

Came here for happy hour. SHARED a pizza for $8, glass of beer for $3. Really delicious. Kind of don't want people to know so I can always and easily get a seat. The dining room is small and definitely geared toward small groups/pairs.

What a great discovery. Took my wife here for her birthday. First of all, great service as we were introduced to a great Barbaresco and excellent Arugula salad. Amazing actually. We picked a great selection of salumi; in fact, they come with these fried salty pillow doughs that produced a great combination. The pizza we selected was perfect. The ambiance is rustic and not too big. In the end, just a memorable experience that will result in many returns.

Greeted by cool music, a double pizza oven and stacks of salumi platters waiting for your order. I instantly loved the space. I could tell you everything we ate. But instead, I'll just say that the saltiness and richness on salumi and housemade guanciale cheese is balanced perfectly with their house rose. So start during happy hour, and don't worry about when you finish.

After a terrible experience at a different Ethan Stowell restaurant, I had written off the group for a while. So, when Bar Cotto opened I didn't really think too much about it. Last night, however, I was really keen on some pizza and didn't want to sit at home with a take out from my favorite joint on Pine. I decided to give in and give Bar Cotto a try. Best decision ever. We walked into the tiny restaurant, maybe serves 35. We were lucky enough to grab two seats at the bar a little before 8. We were immediately greeted and water poured. I got the "I blame it on my momma", a fantastic tequila cocktail served up, and my partner got a local beer. Although the menu is very simple, about four categories (salads/veggies, salumi, bruschetta, and pizza), I had no idea what to get. I asked the bartender what the best items on the menu were and went with his recommendation: Talleggio and Roasted Grapes Bruschetta and the Funghi Pizza. I was totally blown away, the bruschetta was too good to explain, you just have to try it. The pizza had an amazing crisp crust and was definitely enough for 2. I was elated when I left Bar Cotto. It was a refreshing alternative to our Cap Hill grind. If there is one thing that I could knock off any points for it would be that the pizza could have been seasoned a little better. I added salt and red pepper oil to mine. The service, the food, and the atmosphere were ideal. I can't wait to come back. Also, if they don't already have a happy hour I hope one is coming soon...!!!

My son and I are pizza lovers and we are thrilled that Bar Cotto is in our neighborhood. The salad I had was fantastic- so fresh and delicious. I had the mushroom pizza and my son the margherita. The pizza was perfect. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. Overall, just a great experience.

Bar Cotto is a small salumeria and bar. Its decor is simple with an open cooking area. Rather plain, not ornate, clean and straight forward. The food is simple but packs a powerhouse of delicious exquisiteness. Had the buffalo mozarella with marinated mushrooms and crostini. Had the parma pizza, prosciuotto and arugula on it. Out of this world! The food is simple, light and delicate. The ingredients they use must be top of the line. High, high recommend. Reasonable prices for the high quality of the food. Already looking forward to returning there.

I don't even want to tell people about this place. We went early for happy hour and got almost everything on the menu. It's primarily a salumeria and pizza place and both of course were outstanding. We got the Parma and arugula pizza and one with sausage. We wanted to reorder one of the pizzas even though we were stuffed because they were so good.

let's face it: despite your best attempts to plan, sometimes life points it's finger at you and laughs. and every once in a while, that unexpected twist turns out for the best. such was the circumstances that brought me to bar cotto, ethan stowell's newest seattle venture. situated on the cusp of central district and capitol hill, this charcuterie-focused bar was everything that cure wasn't; a curated menu, fabulous cocktails, and bedside manner behind the bar. and better yet? my first brush with lambrusco frizzante, a sparkling red wine with a drinkability profile fit for day-drinking on a southern veranda, or spending a saturday night parked in front of a trashy reality tv marathon. popular in the 70s, whats old is new, and lambrusco is making a comeback in a big way on wine lists throughout the city. and while the seattle summer is fading away, move over rosé; labrusco is here to stay.

My favorite restaurant in Seattle probably. It's a great gem in Capitol Hill and an awesome spot for pizza, charcuterie, and drinks. Favorite pies include the salssicia and the fungi. Usually two pizzas is enough for two people. Happy hour is also a great deal! Staff there are also great; sometimes you get a bag of pasta to take home with you!

Love love love this place. The food is to die for! They have a great selection of salumi and the torta fritta that come with are my absolute favorite. You must get them when you go. The pizzas are fantastic and overall the service is good. My only issue with the place is that the last time I went the waitress and host (or maybe shift manager) were all over each other and flirting left and right. I can't tell you how many times I saw them hugging or touching. Not professional. Cmon guys. I'm eating here. Other than that no complaints, and I will be back again for sure.

We went with a few friends for a special occasion on a weeknight. The evening started out well but unfortunately the server quickly lost interest in our table. He acted like he was doing us a favor by pouring our water and taking our orders. Below are a few examples of the poor customer service we received: 1.) Our server tried to convince us a lemon was an orange saying, "didn't you know that's what happens to oranges?" 2.) We didn't receive two of our orders at all. Even after asking about them. 3.) Our server took two orders, disappeared for 20 minutes, and then returned to take the rest of our order. 4.) The food arrived cold. Mainly because, I believe, the server was bored and ready to leave. We tried it. It was too expensive for the experience. We won't be back.

Great place! Small place and interesting to see only four people working including the cooks! You can see the entire kitchen too. It's all integrated and the service was great. They manage it all very well. In terms of the food wow quite good. The meats and fried dough were amazing especially with a reasonably priced bottle of Italian wine. We made a tweak to the mushroom pizza and did red sauce which was great. I look forward to coming back

Came here on a friday evening (was able to make an opentable reservation the day of). The fritto bread stick things that you can order with the salami is delicious! Overall, excellent date location.

If you enjoy delightful cocktails, inventive salads, cured meats, and heavenly pillows of dough, then Bar Cotto is calling your name. If you like pizza too, you should already be there getting your fill. I visited Anchovies & Olives during SRW and became intrigued by Bar Cotto next door. The surroundings are cozy and quaint, with about ten 2 tops, some of which can be pushed together for larger parties, and about ten spots at the bar. There's an open kitchen so you can see your charcuterie being freshly sliced and your pizzas being prepped and popped into the oven. This place is pretty small and with most of the tables being 2 tops, if you're more than 2 people you probably should make a reservation or expect to wait. We started off with cocktails - I've been on a gin kick lately, so I went with the Twilight in Parma (gin, lime, rosemary, lambrusco) to start. Not only is it nice to look at, but it's splendidly yummy. Next, the Brushfire (mezcal, strawberry-rhubarb syrup, blood orange liqueur, chili infused peychaud's bitters garnished with sage). This was one of the most interesting drinks I've had lately - every sip of it made me feel euphoric, though that could be related to the torta frita and fresh charcuterie that I was drinking it with. The menu has 5 groups: Salumi, Verdura, Bruschetta, Pizza, and Dessert, of course. We got something from 4 out of 5, the bruschetta will have to wait until next time. The Asparagus salad with red potatoes, pickled onion, anchovy, and soft-cooked egg was the unsuspecting shining star. Don't sell yourself short by skipping the veg on the menu, their salads are inventive and delectable! If you're here and not getting Salumi, you're a lost little lamb. We went with the lardo, porchetta, and salame gentile and loved every last bite. Don't forget to order the torta frita with your meat-they're little salty pillows of delightful dough that you need in your life. We struggled to find a pizza we both wanted and finally settled on the parma, which was yummy but not the best thing we had all night. After a wonderful meal, I needed something sweet and I was babbling about wishing I could have white port - my favorite, but most places don't have it. We ordered dessert - a strawberry rhubarb crisp that was amazing! And we ordered some after dinner drinks I was going to go with a glass of Moscato d'Asti, my old stand by, and the boyfriend ordered some tawny port, when David, the mind reader and server extraordinaire, said they also had a white port if we were interested. Was I ever! It paired incredibly well with our dessert and I ended a wonderful evening on an even higher (and a little bit of a tipsier) note than I could have expected - thank goodness for uber! We ordered everything we could have wanted and after tip we spent about $150 - a pretty penny, but it was well worth it considering the lovely date night we had which included 6 full price beverages. I'd definitely come back for date night, or for HH, or a birthday, or any other occasion with a small group. I've had the pleasure of dining at 3 Ethan Stowell restaurants (so far) and each one makes me happier than the last. Keep on keeping on Mr. Stowell, you're doing it right.

How can you go wrong with the daily salumi board, pizzas, and fun cocktails all on happy hour? Came here with R and K for happy hour. Probably one of the best places for happy hour that I've been to in a long time. We ended up with two pizzas (the Bianca and the Parma), daily salumi board, and of course, had to get torta fritta. Best decisions ever. Pizza, good. Salumi, good. Torta fritta...fried dough pillows. Perfection. R and I decided it was almost like a Chinese donut (without the sugar). Definitely worth getting. Will be coming back.

this neighborhood restaurant is wonderful and popular with the locals. We sat at the bar on the sidewalk and had a great time people watching and relaxing. The waiter was friendly and quick with our drinks and food. We started with a plate of the meat, the frittas (bread) and a summer salad. Then had a couple of pizzas for our entrée. The restaurant smells wonderful and they have a small bar. I highly recommend this place.

My first Ethan Stowell experience and definitely not my last! My girlfriends and I came by the restaurant on a Thursday for happy hour and were blown away by the great selection and prices. We ate away our post-work stress with the: -Parma and Salsiccia pizzas - We were pleasantly surprised with how large the pizzas were! Granted, they do have a thin crust, but we couldn't even finish one. I'm a big fan of arugula, so I jumped at the chance to try the Parma pizza and was not disappointed! :) -Escarole salad - The escarole was another first for me - I thought it was light and fresh and the hazelnut was a nice touch. Yum! -Salumi board with torta fritta - Loooooved the salumi board! The happy hour board comes with a tasty selection of three meats and the option to order torta fritta on the side. The frittas were like the salty sisters of Lola's beignets, hahahaa :P Nice, casual dining environment as well - the low lighting and wooden ceiling adds a kind of rustic and warm feel. Seems like a great date spot too! I think Bar Cotto is one of my favorite Cap Hill restaurants that I've tried so far and I'll definitely be coming by again! :)

What a quaint little spot! We were able to move our reservation up by an hour and still got a spot when we came in a bit early. Our server was very friendly! The 3 pack salumi for $18 (we got sopressata picante, salame felino (my fav, very flavorful), and prosciutto di Parma (least fav)) and it went so well with the torta fritta. The torta fritta are bite sized, salty, doughy, soft and I could eat a whole bowl myself!! Each bite was full of deliciousness. Also got the salsiccia pizza - the tomato sauce was good and if it weren't for it, I don't think I could've finish the pizza. Overall, a decent pizza. I would definitely come back to try the other salumi options, not so much for the pizza. At the end of the night, we were each given a bag of freshly made pasta!! :)

Cotto is still a place I frequent quite a bit. In fact, I went twice last week. Excessive? Perhaps. Delicious? Definitely. Most of my visits are during happy hour, where pizzas can be had for $8-$10, which is a screaming deal. Favorites are the parma, funghi, and salsiccia. Round out your pizza with a corona bean & cauliflower salad, or the daily salumi board, and you've got a meal for two. The bartender is super friendly, and there's a solid selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. Cotto's a chill place to hang out and enjoy awesome food.

Awesome happy hour they have here. The Charcuterie plate and those little nuggets of fried bread are absolutely delicious. Pizza is good too! Definitely a great happy hour here.

Boards of salumi paired with pillow-like bread things and good cocktails to boot? Mrs. Robinson, you're trying to seduce me... aren't you? I didn't have their pizza but I will be coming back for the salumi alone. They have some selections made in-house, some from other respected salumi places in Seattle and so forth. I thought a board with three different kinds (for $18) was perfect for two people. We also each had well-made whiskey cocktails. The space is fairly small. Service was unmemorable but not in a bad way. It's a perfect spot for appetizers before a homecooked meal. It may even be a good place for a first date because you can fully enjoy drinks and tasty snacks without having to do a full meal.

So happy to have found a nice place to go to after symphony concerts! Late night dining with late night happy hour deals, AND they serve house made charcuteries, and pizzas. We love the charcuteries, especially the porchetta (po-keh-ta, not por-che-ta; brus-geh-ta, not bru-che-ta for bruschetta), it melts in your mouth! The only complaint we had was that the first plate of charcuteries we ordered were sliced so thin that we could barely get a good taste and texture. Second plate was still on the thin side, but slightly better. Will definitely come back to try the pizzas!

Very Capitol Hill lookin place. Not too big of a spot. Looks like it's all about cured meats and pizza here. Food/drinks: The pork belly bruschetta was probably the best thing I had here. The bread is a little too toasted though so kinda hard to bite into. Got the 3 meat plate: prosciutto Parma, lonza (?), and salame something haha. It's hard to remember. They have like 20+ different kinds. All was fine except lonza was extra salty. We got the torta ($3) to eat with it, which is so necessary. I didn't love the Porchetta pizza. It was like nothing special at all. And for a drink I got something twilight? Pretty good drank. Prices: it doesn't seem that pricey, until you order random things that don't fill you up and then it ends up being a $40ish per person meal w/ drinks. This place is just alright. Drinks are pretty good. Maybe good to come for hh in the future. Daily 4-6pm.

I ate the entire pizza in 20 minutes. I swear I've never eaten an entire pizza. In 20 minutes. (it was a long flight.) oh my god. I ate an entire pizza.

Amazing pizza and cured meats! My favorite place for a glass of vino and snacky type foods. I also am in love with their escarole salad which is a great complement to the other food. It's a very cozy restaurant and is great for an intimate date night. I have yet to be disappointed here.

Love. I love Ethan Stowell restaurants and have been meaning to check this place out since it opened. The bf and I snagged a seat at the bar and ordered the escarole salad, a serving of housemade porchetta w/ torta (fried pieced of dough), the parma pizza, and the pizza w/ sausage. The salad was fresh and a good contrast to the heaviness of the rest of our meal, but I'm not sure I'd order it again. There are just too many other options that look more interesting like the eggplant and the pork belly bruschetta. You get the option of choosing a 1, 3, or 5 meat board for varying prices. The prochetta we got was tender, flavorful, and overall just delicious. The serving size was around 10 slices which I thought was generous. We got a side of the torta to go w/ it. Torta is basically little fried dough pieces that come out hot and they're great eaten alone or w/ the meat. Our pizza's were great. Thin crust, with wonderful flavor. Both were tasty. Service was good and the food came out quick. I can't wait to be back to try out all the other salumis they offer. Reservations may be a good idea as it's a fairly small place and the tables can get full.

Yay.. not bad for a weeknight happy hour, Bar Cotto! You can sit anywhere in the restaurant for happy hour, and no drink purchase is necessary. We got there around 5:30pm and the restaurant was mostly empty, so my guess is a wait isn't an issue even though the place is small. The happy hour menu consists of six starters and six pizzas (see photo!) for food, and drinks too. The pizzas are 14" (decently sized for two people) so a starter and a pizza is a perfect amount for dinner. We got the salumi board with torta fritas (add $3) and it was an awesome choice - loved it! I can't remember exactly what the chef chose for us (it's 3 salumi of his choice), but it was a delicious variety. Also, adding the torta fritas was a really good idea, I'd definitely recommend it! They're light, fried fluffy pillow bites of heaven and complement the salumi well (even though it wouldn't seem so). Great starter for $11. For pizza, we chose the guanciale because we didn't know what it was so thought it'd be good to try. The waiter described it as meat similar to bacon so we thought it'd be a guaranteed right decision, and it sure was - the thin, crispy pizza came out hot.. and the smell of the guanciale's smokiness filled the air. Needless to say, the pizza was delicious, and even more so after I sprinkled some chili flakes on top. Yum, yum. Lastly, to top off an overall good time, food and service.. instead of getting mints or something with your bill, they give you two bags of fresh handmade by Ethan Stowell pasta to take home! So awesome :) Bar Cotto, you've kind of won me over - solid 4 stars!

Really snotty, lax, unpleasant service! We stopped in for a glass of wine on our way home from work on a sunny Friday afternoon. Looked inside at the entry but didn't see a host; so we found two seats at the (single shared) outdoor table and settled in for a nice chat, next to folks who were mid-way through a pizza and others just finishing up. After five minutes or so, a wait person smiled and poured one glass of water for the two of us; but she never returned with menus or a second place setting. We waited 10 more minutes but tired of the lack of attention, so we started to gather our belongings and leave. Just then, a waiter finally approached to take the credit card from the folks next to us, and he spoke the only words we heard from anyone on staff at Bar Cotto: "Just so you know, it's not seat-yourself outside." His tone was extremely dismissive and snarky; the guys finishing up next to us even remarked upon it. So we left and will NEVER go back.

This place should be renamed meat and bread. Since that is what they excel at. The restaurant is pretty sparse, but in a clean fresh way. At least the natural summer light made it feel that way. The service was fantastic. They were able to change our reservation with only about 10 minutes notice and even though we were still late the host made us feel genuinely welcome. The cocktails were great, they all fit well into the theme of salty meat and bread. For the salumi I highly suggest the Lardo. It's a bit our there for some (cured back fat), but it melts so nicely into the torta fritta. The porchetta pizza is phenomenal. The crust is crisp and tender, and creates a great bite. I loved the pesto and the sweet and spicy peppers. I do wish there was more of the porchetta, since it was nice and salty and really married all of the flavors well. If you are looking for a fine pizza experience in District 1, you really can't beat Bar Cotto.

Undeniably authentic Italian food, with a cozy atmosphere, all at a reasonable cost ($19 for two with an appetizer!). This is a little gem on Capitol Hill!

I've walked by before and contemplated going in-but usually was looking for something quicker and cheaper. This weekend, though, I thought I'd give it a whirl and just order a pizza to go. I ordered the Funghi. It had grilled onions, truffle oil, an Italian cheese I can't remember that is similar to mozzarella, and a variety of mushrooms. $16. I ate half by myself (boyfriend passed since it didn't have red sauce. Lol). Then ate the other half the next day. It was delicious in every way. I will definitely go back (and try and order a pizza with red sauce).

My go to place for prosciutto, salami & pizza. Must try the Chioggia Beet Salad. This place is small & intimate. Good service & good music. I highly recommend it.

Stopped in as a solo diner on a Weds. night around 8:30pm and sat at the bar. Ordered the artichoke and grapefruit salad and porchetta pizza (that everyone raves about). The salad was refreshing though the flavors were a little bland, a pinch more salt was needed on the artichokes and there wasn't much acid from the grapefruit. The pizza was stellar, every bite was delicious, made especially good with some of their house chili oil drizzled on top. I had a glass of Rose and a Barbera and both paired nicely with the dishes. Staff was very welcoming and volunteered some recommendations for things to see and do on my trip. Overall, it was a great experience.

3.5 stars. I love cured meats. We ordered 3 salumi -- finnochionna, spicy coppa, and porchetta. My favorite was the spicy coppa. Although it wasn't spicy at all, its texture was my favorite. We also had the pork belly bruschetta. It was a little too much on the sweet side for me. The onions and the mustard was very sweet, I wish it could have been more savory. Lastly, we ordered the Nduja pizza, because Boccalone in SF is my favorite meat shop ever and was one of the things I would miss the most moving to Seattle. Sadly, the pizza was not very memorable. At the end of our meal, they gave us a sample of their house made pasta noodles to take home. I cooked it up a few days later and it was really delicious.

Two words - torta fritta! They are like little salty and savory doughnuts to wrap your amazing cold cuts around and I could eat them all night! We've had some great meals here: the portion sizes even on the small plates are generous and sharable. The pizzas are delicious and also generously portioned, but I would stick to the cold cuts and vegetable dishes because they steal the show. The farrow and asparagus was very nice and the burrata dish was delicious as well. We usually just ask them to recommend some of the cold cuts and have never been disappointed. There is a great outdoor bar seating area that we have been trying to squeeze onto but every time the weather is nice someone else beats us to it! (I think it can only accommodate 6)

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
