After a negative experience, Mikki has reached out to me to assure me the situation will be rectified. I appreciate the response -- it's the mark of good business. Thanks so much.

This is my 100th review, and I've chosen Bang Bang Cafe because it is my favorite. It has taken me four years to get here, reviewing 99 businesses -- mostly restaurants -- across a range of quality, price points, service level, ambience, authenticity, hype ... for my fellow reviewers, you know the drill. I've tried to be thoughtful in my reviews and, where appropriate, humorous. A couple of B.S. reviews contribute to the local flavor, like of "Yelp Girl Collectors" (you know who you are) and of that lame congressman who brown nosed to the same BP execs who have polluted our gulf waters. Yelp even pulled one because it violated the terms of service. (If you have to ask, it was a tirade against the Seattle Center for jamming through a parking proposal that was detrimental to the disabled -- but this review isn't about that, or else it'd be another TOS violation.). ;) Like the timeline I've described above, the route that I take to Bang Bang Cafe is similarly circuitous. I travel from the Eastside down route 520 and cross the bridge, bypassing John Howie and the now-closed Artisanal. My trip continues down I-5 and exits into downtown Seattle. Numerous other restaurants roll by, restaurants that are delicious or are "destination places" or are both -- fabulous Restaurant Zoe; the burgeoning Tom Douglas mini-empire; romantic Chez Shea; great Chinese and Japanese restaurants in the International District; the holy sandwich trinity of Paseo, Salumi, and Tat's; and countless others. You can even glimpse the hustle and bustle of the never-boring Pike Place Market flit by. These are all a blur because I am determined to reach my destination: Bang Bang Cafe for their breakfast burritos. I first came here by way of John L.'s breakfast Yelp events (just click on the Events tab above), where I had the pleasure of breaking bread with John, Daren, Elise, Kimber, Nerick, Judy and Zak -- all are Yelpers. It was then that I tried the eponymous Bang Bang Burrito, and have been going back for this ever since. The Bang Bang Burrito is filled with smoky roasted potatoes, beans, eggs and their secret, addictive ingredient -- a red sauce that is made of dried, ripened New Mexico chiles. This red sauce has an Old-World, soulful, smoky taste that imparts a gradual heat that is nice at the beginning, but has me wiping my forehead at the end of my meal. They wrap this in a flour tortilla, and top it with a bit of melted cheese and a combination of that same red sauce and their green sauce, which is made of the unripened chiles and has a milder, tangier flavor. The nutty roasted flavor of an Americano plays well with that red sauce. I have had the briny, flash-then-fade spiciness of Korean foods all my life, and also enjoy the slow-building, lingering burn of certain Indian cuisines. I've tried the searing sensation of Szechuan cooking. But this soulful, flavorful build-up of heat is something that I could eat every day for the rest of my life. They have a vegan Mac 'n Cheese that is also delicious, with a smoky spiciness to it as well. I wish I could tell you more about the other items on their menu, but I keep getting the same thing. Bang Bang Cafe is owned and run by two sisters, Yuki and Miki, who are friendly and cool, and who remember their customers -- even an old curmudgeon like me. The cafe's ambience is simple and clean, and is in a relatively quiet neighborhood. The food and coffee are very reasonably priced. They also have free wifi, and parking (metered) is usually not that hard to find. One hundred is an arbitrary number. But it feels nice to slow down, take a breather, and look around. I encourage you to do the same at Bang Bang Cafe. And try that red sauce ... 'cause sweating is good for you.

I ADORE Bang Bang :) I keep going back despite the fact that I keep losing my "buy 11 get the 12th drink free" cards halfway through. WHY? ...because Seattle hospitality tends to suck, and Miki and Yuki are hands down, the friendliest, sweetest owners you'll ever meet. I've been there a lot (at one time I was addicted to their homemade caramel sauce), and Yuki always greets every customer by name or at least asks how their day is going. Nothing is knock-your-socks-off-amazing, but everything is made fresh and solid, including their vegan options (and I am a Carnivore with a capital 'C'). I've tried their vegan burrito (it actually tasted very similar to sausage) and the mac and cheese (dairy-free?! no way..) and I'm now happy to say that I could survive if I had to as a vegan.

One of my co-workers recommended this place, so today a group of us converged on the Bang Bang Cafe for lunch. First off, the owner and staff were super friendly and the service was great. The menu offers a nice selection of breakfast themed burritos, bagels, and various other sundries. I had heard rumblings about a vegan mac and cheese (aka the Vegan Mac) and I thought that I would give it a try. Note...I am about the farthest thing from a Vegan out there and I absolutely LOVED the Vegan Mac! Wow! The serving size was spot on and it had awesome flavor and texture. It was served with toast and I added a Diet Coke. One of the best lunches that I have had in Belltown in recent memory. I will definitely be back to try other menu selections...though the Vegan Mac will be calling my name for some time. Parking may be a challenge for some depending on the time of day you stop in. If you live/work in downtown (especially Belltown or Lower Queen Anne) this spot is worth the walk for a yummy lunch. Check it out.

Conveniently located in Belltown, this place is pretty cool. Good espresso, awesome breakfast burritos, and a fun little space. Friendly faces and awesome smells, the BBC is a neat place. One time I had an iced espresso that tasted like filth, I think their ice was bad or something, but otherwise I have had great experiences here. Starbucks is cheaper, but it is Starbucks.....

Nothin' spectacular, but nice if you need a quick snack or breakfast on the go. PROS: 1. Super nice lady behind the counter. Not sure if she was the owner or not. 2. Vegan/veggie options. 3. Breakfast burritos! Yum! CONS: 1. I got the veggie sausage breakfast burrito. It was mainly filled with scrambled egg and potatoes. Where was the veggie meat? There were maybe a couple bites worth. So not worth it. 2. Not many foods to pick from. Selection was scarce. Just a handful of bagels, a couple croissants, and a few cookies. Definitely not your Starbucks-amount of pastries/baked goods to choose from.

This place is solid. I've been here twice and both times have been pleasantly surprised. Their drip coffee is strong (but not too strong/sick-making) and their pastries are tasty. I've had their chocoalte zuccini bread and their tuna sandwich. The only complaint I have is that their prices are a little high. Other than that everything is good. The service is friendly and pretty fast. They also have a great atmosphere and free wifi!

Had a couple substantial (and delicious) vegan options which was much appreciated. The hummus sandwich was heaped with roasted red peppers and avocado! Will definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

My mom and I really wanted to like this place... We had high hopes from the reviews and left feeling unsatisfied. The food itself gets one star and the other is from the owner's personality. She was very welcoming and caring, however, the food was very mediocre. The breakfast burrito with turkey sausage came with the sausage outside because they forgot to put it inside. The chipotle mac n' cheese was pre-made and soggy! The flavor was okay, but sogginess of macaroni was unforgivable. We're still on a mission to find a good breakfast place in downtown/belltown Seattle. Better luck next time!

I was only in Seattle for a day, and this place made my short list of must-go. This restaurant totally lived up to its billing. We had the vegan mac and cheese and the wet vegan burrito. Both were fantastic! Vegan mac and cheese was probably the best I've ever had. It was spicy, flavorful, and filling. Burrito hit the same spot. Good mixture of flavors. Coffee was just okay, and 55 cent refills seems...excessive? Maybe that is normal in Seattle, so I'm not going to knock them for it. I am just used to at least one free refill at most of my regular coffee shops in Portland.

Bang Bang Cafe - what a neat find. Just a perfect place to go to for a lazy weekday / weekend lunch. Glass windows for people watching, assortment of hot beverages and delicious paninis. I can't say that I was a huge fan of the mac and cheese (not a huge mac and cheese connoisseur to start with) but I have to agree the food tasted fresh and healthy. Definitely a cute little cafe to chill out and relax - will pop by here again next time.

Watch for hidden costs in your food. Soups are good. Salads are good. Burritos are good, and I took a friend there to try it out. She took my suggestion and ordered a burrito. The price on the menu was 6.85. She didn't order anything else. Her total came to 8.87. I asked the cashier girl why it was 8.87. She answered that it was tax (duh, thanks) and the sauce on the burrito. So... $1.25 for some burrito sauce? That's kind of a ripoff isn't it? I also mentioned to this cashier that I had paid 6.00 for a large salad the last time I was there and received a small salad. I had gotten some other stuff and gotten it to go so I didn't realize until I was home. Anyway, I'm not in the business of trying to rip people off for extra salad, but she looked at me as though I was. Seems like I'm being extra cheap or something, but when you have to go home and convince yourself that the meal was worth what you just paid, it probably wasn't worth it. I doubt I'll be back.

I discovered the existence of Bang Bang on a Sunday morning, which meant that between the fact they're closed Sundays and my work-week schedule I had to wait a whole week to try them. So when Saturday morning rolled around I was very excited to head over for brunch. We ordered a pair of vegan breakfast burritos from the very friendly woman at the counter. We elected to add chili sauce, which seems to be a bit of a signature thing for the cafe. These turned out to be some of the best burritos I've ever had. I've always tended to have vegan burritos that are dominated by things like huge chunks of tofu, faux meats, soy sour cream, globs of guacamole. Basically, using a lot of delicious fat to make it tasty. These burritos, though, were made tasty by actually being well and thoughtfully prepared. They were smaller than the overstuffed monsters I've gotten elsewhere (though still plenty of food). They were filled with beans, mushrooms, zucchini, and roasted potatoes, and had generous portions of red and green chili sauces on top. So very tasty, I actually ate extra slowly to get to enjoy it for longer. Now I just have to figure out how to convince myself to try other places for breakfast on Saturday mornings now that I know about Bang Bang.

One of my new favorite places in Seattle. Good coffee, several vegan sandwiches and burritos to choose from, vegan donuts, and everyone working there is super nice! There are better sandwiches out there but Bang Bang Cafe has many selections and can veganize almost anything on the menu. Also, since the place also has veggie and meat options, it won't be one of those places where you have to force meat eaters to accompany you.

Loved it here. Food was well priced and delicious. Great staff. Great coffee. Great baked goods. Vegans, vegetarians, and carnivores will all love it. Make it your new place to go to regularly too!

I started going to the Bang Bang occasionally a couple of months ago as it is close to where I live. I wasn't sure what to expect at first, but I'm a huge fan now! Bang Bang basically has two "sides" to the business (not literally or practically, but metaphorically - it's all one shop). One is a regular coffee house, like many others in the area. Lots of people swing by here and get their lattes to go, etc. The other side is their hot food options, the highlight being the much-ballyhooed breakfast burritos. The coffee is just ok, and the burritos are varied, delicious, and customizable (Morningstar sausage or bacon, add sour cream, etc.). Oh, and the red/green Hatch chile sauce they put on the burritos is great! What makes Bang Bang special, though, is the service. The staff is prompt, attentive, and simply don't screw around when it comes to helping customers. The people running the till do a nice job of balancing small-talk and barista chatter with keeping the line moving. The dude that's usually running the small kitchen (Victor?) is awesome - super helpful, great conversationalist, and a damn good cook. You'd think he owned the place from how much pride he puts in his work. Even though it's a small place, seating perhaps 20 at a time, and often quiet, it never feels awkward. I like how they manage to maintain a balance between walk-up counter and full-service. You walk up, order, find a table, and they bring you food, coffee, and utensils. I usually don't like that sort of system, but they pull it off. The ambiance is a little lacking, but if you want a no-hassle breakfast that's tasty at a fair price, this is the spot!

This was our first place to hit while we were in Seattle. We were hungry (flew in the night before) and were ready to explore the city, so we needed some serious business food. Breakfast burritos it is! I got an iced chai (it was a warm morning) and a burrito with cheese, eggs, potatoes, avocado and roasted vegetables in a tortilla. It was good, I would probably eat there again if I was around. The vegetables were tasty (broccoli and spinach, mostly) and the burrito had a nice ratio of ingredients. The barista had some amazing double layer sunglasses, which added a point of awesome. Another point of awesome was earned when I saw drawings of cats going into battle all over the place. This pleased me greatly. I also liked their vegan selections, which is a rare find in Chicago. I'm not vegan, but it's nice to see that's becoming more a mainstream choice at restaurants.

Was out here on vacation and liked it so much on day 1 that I came back for day 2. People were friendly, food was good (I had the bang bang burrito) and the coffee drinks are great. Would definitely return.

This is probably the best lunch-time option for me in this area and I'm in this area 3 times a week. I like their healthy-ish options and they are really pretty quick for making everything fresh. The vegan mac n' cheese is really good, but it has that "facon" stuff in it so if you don't like bacon flavor you won't like it. I'm just saying. You know, if you're Jewish or something you might not like it.

Despite their charming moniker, the crowded menu is bereft of artful combinations of food that I would pay for, the seating is bizarre, the space uncomfortable and the service is underwhelming. This place has meh all over it. But damn the pictures of place make is seem so good. I want to go there! Oh, wait... I don't know where they get all that good food in the pictures, but it's certainly no longer at Bang Bang. They have one vegan breakfast option, and both times I've been they were out of beans. Recently, when I asked for a substitution of field roast for the sake of a burrito with a protein component, I was told I had to pay extra for it. What I received for $8 was a miniature burrito with a piece of broccoli, some vegetables and a single slice of field roast. Coffee sucks (how do you mess up Lighthouse?). Baked goods are stale. Kind of inconvenient location. The only thing fresh is the sign out front. Edit/Reply: The only pastry I could eat were the mighty-o's and they were definitely older than a day. My friend told me her scone was also stale, and she would know because she's had many of my fresh scone back when I was non-vegan scone baking queen. You have vegan chai masala cake, posole chili or vegan mac and cheese that I just didn't see? And what are these other vegan breakfast options? And um, sorry to fuddle your perfect bean-counting calendar but you did run out of beans, twice.

Maybe I have to try every single thing on the menu to say that everything is good to eat here, but basically everything I've eaten here so far has been stellar! From the soup, to the breakfast burritos, to the sandwiches (vegan ones too!) and of course the infamous vegan mac n' cheese. DAMN THAT WAS GOOD. Scones are perfectly flaky, too! Their coffee is really lovely, from Lighthouse Roasters. Staff is super friendly, nice natural light streaming through the windows, and a warm faux fireplace perfect for this cold weather. I don't think I could ask for anything more!

Was in town for a few days on business and was lucky enough to try this place one foggy morning. It is so hard to find really good vegetarian restaurants, that I feel lucky to have found this one. Their breakfast burrito, covered in their own special salsa, was heavenly. They also have Morningstar style sausage you can add. Plus their Mocha coffee was absolute perfection!

I had really high hopes for Bang Bang Cafe. It came highly recommended from some friends (one a vegan, the other a meat lover) and my boyfriend (a vegetarian). We went here for brunch last New Year's Day and unfortunately, I was far from wowed. Everyone ordered a breakfast burrito and I had a panini. I wish the breakfast burritos weren't the main focus of the menu -- I love burritos and potatoes but hate eggs and cheese, so they are not an option. I ordered what I *thought* was going to be a hummus and avocado panini. When my food arrived it looked like I got the wrong dish since my sandwich was mostly field roast, there was hardly any avocado and no discernible amount of hummus. Turns out the menu was rather misleading (there's a pic), with the items listed from least to most. It's my fault I didn't read to the end of the list and see field roast on there, but regardless, the tiny panini was rather pathetic and there wasn't much of any of the ingredients listed. The burritos looked more satisfying/filling. However, I tasted one and did not like the chili sauce that comes on all of the breakfast burritos. Bang Bang Cafe also loses points for: -- Service was not very friendly. The super nice ladies mentioned in so many other reviews must have had the day off. -- Extremely limited seating for anyone that's not dining solo or as a two top. Our four top had to awkwardly sit facing the window until the larger group left the one table that could accommodate us. -- The place was very smoky (I think there's a fireplace) and my eyes were burning. I had to go outside 2 - 3 times so my eyes would stop tearing. The only thing I'd consider coming back for is the vegan mac n cheese. It's supposed to be amazing. Also, I noticed the coffee is pretty cheap. Bang Bang Cafe is a cute spot, with lots of windows and a homey feel. But my meal wasn't what I expected, or that good, the service was a bit brisk, and my eyes were burning. Left alot to be desired. Not enough bang for my buck.

First off, I always love me some bang bang and I ain't talkin about anything other than Bang Bang Cafe! =) This was my second stop there, but I forgot to write the first time, so I'll write more about today. Parking is always easy in the morning, so I parked on the hill and walked down to the cafe. I ordered a 16 oz chai and a Bang Bang burrito, both to-go. The chai is great there and I would get it more often if I lived closer. There isn't much to say about chai, so I'll speed this up a bit and grade the chai an A. The burrito was great as well. The red and green chili sauces were lightly poured over the burrito and not drenched. The roasted potatoes were soft with a slightly crisp skin, the beans were tender, and the eggs were moist and soft. If I had one request, it would be to use a smaller tortilla as I had a lot more tortilla with each bite than I would prefer. Not a big deal though. I love how Bang Bang packs so much flavor in their breakfast burritos and the price is good for the quality. Burrito gets a B+. Soooo, yay for Bang Bang Cafe. Breakfast is my fav meal of the day and anytime a cafe is consistent, I am sure to return.

The store was nice and small, right in the corner of the street. At first, I was disappointed because I thought I didn't find it. Just right then, there it was, in the middle of heaven shining it's golden gates at me. As I slithered through the door, there was a cute blackboard menu on specials today but also the more permanent menu up beside it. It's a real cool place, where you can read a book or grab your coffee to go. After constant Yelp reviews, I chose the vegan mac n'cheese. It struck me, "vegan"? This couldn't be better than the original cheesy ones I usually get with dairy products and meat included. They proved me wrong. After a few minutes of waiting time, the waiter served me a bowl of mac n' cheese, two thin crispy slices of baguette, and orange slice? Where does the orange relate again? Maybe it's just refreshing after a meal. This was supposed to be healthy, anyways. The appearance looks like it's dusted with panko/breadcrumbs, with no meat at sight, it isn't so cheesy. If you wanted to usual creamy cheesy consistency, this isn't it. It's something a whole lot different, a good way of different too. The macaroni was well cooked, just how I like it. The imitation cheese, or what replaced my beautiful cheese was satisfying. Good enough, it even blew my socks off. That I was spooning each and every bite with a moan of satiety, I was totally surprised. Remember that this is VEGAN! Perhaps they added a little magic into that bowl, I felt it. It made my tongue dance, my veins pumped with joy.

tried the Bang Bang on a tex mex crave - the burrito appears intimidating but was sadly underwhelmed - chiii sauce was a mystery red sauce, inexplicably bland. sausage was unappetizing and overly greasy. white tortilla didn't contribute much to taste. friends ordered the turkey panini, which was served absurdly plain. really enjoyed the organic yerba mate, essentially the best part of brunch.

Great coffee and food. Girls are cute sweet and genuine. Service is good and all food is freshly made. Prices are great, even with a nice tip (which they deserve). Inside could have more style but it is nice and open and not trendy or pretentious (much like those who work their). Go now!

A really comfortable and friendly cafe. I had a fantastic panini and a great latte, so I'll definitely be back. I'll probably call in, though...it does indeed take a good while to get food. Not a complaint though, when the food tastes great.

As one loses their carnivorous feathers, and begins to develop their soothing vegetarian glow, they quickly discover the wonder of breakfast burritos. Actually, nearly any combination of non-meats wrapped in a tortilla. If a restaurant follows this easy formula, it is generally pretty difficult to mess up. Barring some sort of tragic torching, cinnamon spicing, or oil soaking, I don't know that I have ever had a really terrible breakfast burrito. After a while, I decided that it was time to seek out the best breakfast burrito; A burrito masterwork, if you will. Much like, say, the Beatles musical catalog, its is possible to spend a great deal of time eating breakfast burritos before developing a discerning taste. However, eventually, one begins to seek out a "Day in the Life" burrito, and tires of a more run of the mill "Yellow Submarine," or "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" burrito. Well, I found what I consider the pinnacle of the breakfast burrito; the echelon of this breakfast favorite... and it's located here. BEHOLD: The sausage burrito with veggie sausage. VERY IMPORTANT: Ask for chile sauce. Its only .75 cents extra. Do it. Really. The red chili sauce they pour atop is mindbogglingly flavorful. Very spicy (which I enjoy), but sacrifices no taste whatsoever. The potatoes and eggs contained within the savory tortilla are perfectly prepared, and the veggie sausage is fantastic. Unlike breakfast burritos that overwhelm with a kitchen sink flurry of ingredients (olives, avocado, cauliflower, and on and on) this breakfast burrito is unbelievably simple. The melted cheese on top blends with the red chili sauce, and it really is delicious. Honestly, it has to be tried to be explained. The drip coffee is fantastic, the staff is conscientious, kind, and outgoing. The only thing that the Bang Bang Cafe leaves to be desired is more seating, but it is difficult to fault such a sublime eatery on their lack of space; the size restrictions are what they are. To wrap up (bad pun ABSOLUTELY intended) it would be a crime to miss their breakfast burrito. I look forward to trying their lunch time options in the coming weeks. Especially the vegan mac and cheese. Yum.

This place was peachy keen. The service was friendly, and the food was overall decent, but I wasn't completely blown away by it as other reviewers have been. I ordered a vegan burrito with field roast and the chile sauce. Adding on those two things made it a bit pricey ($5.75 + $1.25 for field roast + $1.00 for sauce), but the reviews made it sound heavenly. I also added a side of the vegan mac and cheese for $3.00. For $8, I was expecting more from the burrito. Literally. The burrito was much smaller than I expected. Maybe it's because they're supposed to be for breakfast? Regardless, I was glad that I also ordered the mac and cheese. As for the burrito itself, I just wish there were more inside of it. Each bite had maybe one vegetable and one bean in it (I'm not kidding...), along with the sauce and layer of field roast. It was mostly tortilla. And I had to add salt to make the flavors of what was there pop more. But again, I'm glad that I ordered the mac and cheese. I haven't had very much vegan mac and cheese, but this was quite tasty, even if it wasn't cheesy. It was good on its own right, but I'd describe it more as tasty macaroni with unidentifiable tasty bits than macaroni and cheese. Anyway, good mac and cheese, not so great vegan burrito. Maybe I'll try something else of their menu next time.
