One of the best consistent thai food I ever had! I love their thai basal trout, crab wonton, phad see ew, and Thai tea. Service is great! I gave this place a four because it's not the most authentic foods I have ever ate.

Cockroach found in my food. My worst nightmare came to fruition today. The day I hoped would never happen. There was a cockroach cooked into my stir fry. I am currently holding back vomit. No other words.

First experience here was good. We ordered two dishes again with crab and tilapia.... No wonder it was the special. The wanted to get rid of it obviously. The crab and the fish tasted like it was about to go bad. Then I saw the picture of the person who found a cockroach in their stir fry. Never ever again. I'm seriously about to puke.

Don't be discouraged by the outside appearance and surrounding neighborhood, the restaurant is quite nice and clean inside. Also the food...Soooo good!!!! Literally everything I've ordered here over multiple visits have been delicious! Recommend: Phad kee mau Stuffed chicken wings Tom kah If you go here on a weekday evening it'll probably be empty but on a weekend it's surprisingly very crowded! Service is also great BUT if it's crowded and they are understaffed it can be easy to be missed but don't be afraid to politely speak up to your waitress and then they definitely refocus back on your table.

I was wary the first time I was here. It's right next to a motel and the parking lot is kinda behind the restaurant. I tried the Stuffed Chicken Wings - very good, and the Spicy Beef Combo Lunch - quite good with everything seasoned well. Service was good and fast. The server was friendly and warm. I did come back for a pickup order. I arrived 45 minutes after placing the order at 8, and had to wait another 20 minutes for my order. Hey, I get it, sometimes the cook might be overwhelmed during busy hours. Service was good and fast. The employee was apologetic about the wait. I do like their Stuffed Chicken Wings and find the portion to be just right, the dipping sauce was perfect with the wings. Crispy Prawn Rolls was starchy. Tod Mun (spicy fish cake) was quite good, probably one of the best I've had at a Thai restaurant. Both Salmon Curry and Garlic Pepper Prawns were ok, a bit salty and the portions were small. Price-wise, it's a bit higher than other comparable Thai restaurants, but not by much. Overall, the food is good enough that I would come back, but nothing I would go out of my way for.

Nice hostess that greeted us. Decor is different from what's presented on the outside, and it is very clean on the inside. Neighborhood seems scary especially the parking lot and surroundings. I probably would not be able to come here during the night. However, food is delicious. I ordered the chicken pad kee mao and dh ordered chicken basil fried rice. Lots of fresh veggies, which I enjoy. Not drenched in liquids or sauce, so that is definitely a plus. Hostess was also the server/waitstaff, and she was very attentive. My water was filled at least 5 times.

Having heard from my foodie friends that Chef Deang opened a restaurant in Renton, I decided to go out and try her signature dish, the lamb panang curry. Upon arrival I was greeted by a friendly host whom promptly showed me my table. I asked for the one with the fish tank view, well... I like interesting things to look at. One thing was on my mind, Lamb Curry. My friends have hyped it up so much that I was dying to try it. The server arrived, and I inquired about my dish, he was very informative and said it is not your typical curry that is usually served in a bowl or over rice. Instead it is served with string beans. Having been already curious, I ordered it along with a crab fried rice. I was astounded when my order arrived, It was something I did not expect from a small restaurant in the middle of Renton. What arrived was a set of grilled set of frenched lamb on a bed of lightly sauted green beans complimented with pineapples swimming in the uncious peanuty panang sauce. It was un believable my first bite of lamb was bliss, the perfectly cooked lamb, soft and supple, contained all the flavors the toungue can taste, creamy, sweet, salty, sour, spicy, with plenty of umami. The pinapples complimented and refreshed my palate. A truely wonderful dish, worthy of five stars. Though the restaurant needs some tender loving care on th outside, the inside is clean and recently renovated. If you are going to come come for the lamb panang curry. It will be worth the trip I promise you.

Is it possible for a restaurant to get better over time? My husband just treated me to another wonderful dinner here - Tom Kah soup, Phad Thai, and Green Curry. All the flavors were spot on AMAZING. The staff is kind and friendly. Simply put - the Royal Orchid is the BEST Thai food in Renton. I cannot wait until our next visit - it had been a while.

I have been sick the past few days and wanted something spicy to help clear out my sinuses. Being new to the area my boyfriend and I had not yet found a thai restaurant so I decided to give this one a whirl. It did not disappoint! With a new thai place I usually start out with a standard pud thai. It was amazing! Best I have ever had. I got the boyfriend drunken noodles, I tried a bit of his, and it was even better than mine. I can't wait to try some of their other dishes. The guy behind the counter was really nice. I know where I want to go to for our next date night!

I love this place! It's a tiny, run down looking, hole in the wall with amazing food. I always get either the yellow curry or the swimming angel. I've had the fried rice as well and it's also great. The best part is the bananas and young coconut in coconut milk dessert! I could eat bowls of it. The staff are very sweet and there's a cool fish tank that little kids love. The restaurant is on the small side so it's not good for large groups.

This place deserves more than an overall of what it has. Everything on the menu may not be 5 star quality, but I know a few things that are! You cant ask for much more from this place! When you walk in you are greeted by someone who is dressed in a very nice looking cultural wear (I assume its thai clothing). The men and women are dressed so nice looking. We were waiting on and served very generously, they must have checked on us about 4-5 times during our meals, and were not bug-gin us at all, but came spaced out and at very appropriate times. Our waters were NEVER EMPTY, lol. Once you place your order they will give you a small bowl of what looks to be a cabbage soup of some sort. This is a nice simple thing to begin your meal with. Although I have found some of the good GEMS of food that you will NEED to try if you go here. They are: Stuffed Chicken Wings - 5/5 ($9) This is a nice sized portion item that can easily feed 2 people. I have pictures of this below. Also this comes with a sweet chili sauce that has bits of cucumbers and the presentation is perfect! I ALWAY HAVE THIS WHEN I COME HERE Holy Basil Fried Rice - 5/5 ($8) D*mn, just D*mn, this is the most flavor rice dish I can remember having, it looks simple when its served but when you taste it you will be in heaven, I got this with Chicken, or so delicious! I ALWAY HAVE THIS WHEN I COME HERE Sizzling BBQ - 4/5 ($14) I dropped 1 star because I was expecting the portion to be larger, but maybe I am thinking to much about it. It was a very tasty dish and it does come with a bowl of rice (white/brown with no up-charge for brown) This dish was some grilled vegetables and it has flank steak striped thrown on top of this, we were asked how we would like it and I choose medium (would have asked for medium rare, but i was with another person so we compromised) Maybe we did get what we paid for. It was very good, but I would much rather pay $8 for a dish vs $14.

This place is easy to miss because the street is kinda fast but also easy to spot because it's such a creepy looking building. There's a good amount of parking and easy to get to the entrance. Upon entering there's cute little wooden carved thai style chairs in the waiting area. The actual dining space was darkly lit and warm and cozy looking. I actually ordered to go. So I waited in the carved wooden chairs. There's also a good sized fish tank with interesting fish inside. We were greeted by a lady that was friendly and patient with us as we looked through the menu. I got the tofu pad Kee mao and mango sticky rice. It was delicious! There was a good balance of noodles to veggies and tofu in the pad kee mao and the 10 stars I chose unfortunately was not spicy at all so I am glad I asked for fresh chili in fish sauce to top my noodles with. The flavor was on point too! The mango sticky rice was absolutely delicious! Lightly sweet and tasted freshly made. Will definitely return when I am in the mood for thai food! It would be a nice place to grab a bite to eat on date night before a movie too!

This place is kind of hidden. It's between Tommy's and a run down motel. Parking is in the back. It has a family atmosphere. We had rad na and pad kee mao. The pad kee mao was on point, but will probably request 4 stars next time. Rad na, however, was different from most places. It came out soupy. Not bad if your in Renton and looking for Thai food.

Best Thai food around. Mostly we've ordered take out but dining in is good too. There's one guy who is super great but some of the wait staff isn't the greatest. Also we went in once around lunch time/before dinner 3pm and the food wasn't as good as the other 10+ times we've ordered (mostly at dinner). My guess is they had a different cook for during the day? Or just happened to be that time we went in? In any case, as other reviewers have said, don't be dispelled by its location. The food is GOOD. And I know thai food. It's probably my favorite cuisine. And I've had a ton of spring rolls in my life. Their friend spring rolls are seriously THE best anywhere. I've been known to order just those after work cause I've had such a craving for them. Give them a chance if you're looking for good thai food!

Very good Thai food for the Renton Area! This is my new go to Thai food when we're at home and lazy to drive far for Asian food. We stopped in one night because my wife was craving Pad Kee Mao, (a wide stir fry noodle dish) and there wasn't anywhere else close to us which had it. (Pho & Thai does have it, but I'm not a big fan of the place, but that's for another review) So we stopped in at about 9, and the place is very nice inside for a small restaurant, wood everywhere, and nice silverware and glasses. We ordered on Pad Kee Mao, and a pineapple fried rice. Food came out quickly, and was pretty good, lots of flavor and generous with the portion. We ended up ordering a sweet sticky rice for dessert, and while it was a little sweet for my taste, I think most people will love it. Will be back again to try more of the menu!

I've had lots of different Phad Tai but Royal orchids was fabtastic. But the real reason I gave 5 stars was their red curry! GOD was it tatsy! I've always been a bit careful when it comes to curry but ROs was DELICIOUS plus our server was so pleasant and sweet.

I have always driven past royal thai but had never gone in. The restaurant has a nice comfortable atmosphere. Their food was very flavorful and the dessert menu looked really good. The server was very friendly. I would eat here again to support Renton small business.

Lunch: Their special sizzling BBQ, not good. Meat stringy and fatty. Two, yes only two, thin slices of peppers were the 'highlights' of this tasteless and disappointing $13 lunch. Not worth it. I will eat most anything but did not even finish this waste of money. Hopefully my experience was not the norm but I will never know. Might have just been a 'bad day' for the kitchen? Was having oil changed next door and attendant advised against eating there. Should have listened. Place was clean and service not bad, not good, but not bad.

Pleasantly surprised by the inside since the outside is kind of scary especially at night. Be careful to make sure you lock your car doors they have a sign when you enter so not sure if theft from cars has been a problem. Inside greeted friendly, nice inviting décor. Good size dinner menu. the appetizer sample was good and had a few favorites. Got the panang and massamun curry both really good. But the panang you couldn't get no stars which made it hard to share with daughter. you have the option of white or brown rice. Really good brown rice. I would come back but wouldn't go out of my way.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE SEEVICE!!!! My fiance and I got food from here this evening, spent $70 on three dishes and spring rolls, specifically asked for no mushrooms (I am allergic), and everything but one item had mushrooms... I called back calmly asking to bring the food back and get a refund, in response I was yelled at and told I was lying!!! I proceeded calmly to tell them I was a 20 minute drive away and could not get back before they closed, again yelled at and hung up on! Never again!!!! Over priced and horrible customer service!!! Plus the food we did get was nothing great nor flavorful!!!

The parking lot is a little sketchy and dark at night, but once you're inside the atmosphere is welcoming and the front of house staff is very friendly. The woman at the front desk asked one (of the two) lady is she was ordering for here or to go, and the other if she was ready to order. A lady came out from the back a second later to ask me what I needed. I ordered to go, as I normally do. I ordered coconut prawns and pad see ew with tofu. The whole place is fairly tranquil and calm. Anyways, I got the food and took it home to eat. I ate the coconut prawns first. It was pretty tasty, but over priced for what they were. There were 6 prawns doe $11.50. The pad see we was alright. It was pretty tasteless, but the time and broccoli prices were really big, so... Overall, it wasn't worth the price. I could have gotten the same thing at the Best Thai and Pho. It would have been cheaper and way more delicious.

I don't like Thai food that is mainstream. The peanut sauce is amazing and the spring rolls are to die for!!!!! They are literally the best. However I have not reheated them and the restaurant overall is way over prized. The only way I would eat from there is if my coworker gave me her leftovers

One of my favorite places in Renton. I have spent a lot of money in this place because of how good their food is, however, i have stopped going for personal reasons. I usually order Chicken phad thai, yellow curry or basil chicken fried rice and the prices are fair depending the timing of the day you get it. They have lunch specials that will reduce the price and then dinner time is more expensive. For the most part this place is great, nice atmosphere but there was one particular incident that I can't or won't forget. I ordered to-go and paid about $35 for 3 entrees and when i got home, my girl friend found hair and some insect in the food. I called them and went crazy on them. They returned my money and i threw away their food and never went back since.

Service is always great. Pad kee moa and panang curry are my favorites. Stuffed chicken wings are delicious, too. I am a Thai food fanatic and this is hands down the best thai restaurant I've been to in the entire greater Seattle area. I just wish they had some kind of frequent buyer deal because I come here so often.

I would never have eaten here if it had not been for my real estate agent. Tired and hungry after a home inspection, she, my husband and I were nearly delirious...this happened to be close by to the house and she said she frequents here quite often. I wasn't sure what to expect from the sketch-ass parking lot, but once we got inside we were greeted by a lovely and friendly man. Of course, I had to get Thai iced tea - love that stuff, milk allergies and all! I ordered curry fried rice with chicken and shrimp...I have to say, could I please have some rice with my chicken and shrimp? I love that there was broccoli and tomatoes in there, too. I was so hungry, I actually ate the whole plate of food...I normally don't ever do that. It was that good and I was that hungry. Hubby got spicy tofu and some basil fried rice - both were excellent. Our real estate agent got a red curry which was also delicious. Service was good, too. Water kept flowing without us having to ask to get more and our server was friendly and attentive. We will definitely come back.

We did some take out action from this place, so I can't comment on the friendliness of the staff or how the restaurant is laid out. I ordered some curry with chicken and was reasonably pleased at how it turned out. Big portions and a whole carton of rice, which I couldn't finish. I wish there were a few more veggies besides the bell peppers, but it wasn't bad. (I'm not counting onions as a veggie here.) Everything seemed pretty fresh and tasty. It sort of looks divey from the outside, which made me sort of skeptical about even trying it, but my cohorts said it was their regular haunt for thai in the area. Hey, I'm always down with trying new places...especially non-chain type restaurants. I would not go out of my way to come here, but it's probably a place I'll go eat from again, whether in person or take out. I will give this place props, because it's hung in there during the bad times and a lot of other businesses have gone under in that same area.

So glad I found this place after trying 4 other Thai restaurants in the area and being sorely disappointed. This is the only one of the 5 we've tried so far that I consider to be a proper Thai restaurant. We ordered some of the standards to go: Basil fried rice, Panang curry, Pad Kee Mao. All were delicious with quality ingredients. Veggies were cooked through, not tough, meat was tender and tasty. The Panang curry was the best I've had a long while. I plan to be back here regularly. It has an unfortunate location next to a divey looking motel, but inside is nice as others have mentioned. If the location bothers you, at least do a take out order. Friendly service.

Best Thai food I've had so far in Renton. I usually only do to-go but based on the food alone, I've always been happy :).

I've lived in the neighborhood for nearly 20 years. It wasn't until recently that we decided to try Royal Orchid. We're kicking ourselves for not eating here before. Located between a sketch motel and car oil change biz on busy Rainier Ave the Royal Orchid doesn't invoke images of quality dining. Don't let this less-than-ideal location fool you because the food and service is top notch. The menu contains the standard Americanized Thai dishes so nothing really stands out from this point. However, the curry and noodle dishes we have tried are better tasting than many of the higher priced Thai restaurants throughout Seattle. The service has been consistently prompt and attentive. Fans of fried chicken need to order the garlic wings. They're almost as delicious as the chicken my mother-in-law used to make, which is a high compliment. The Royal Orchid is now on our list of Renton eateries we regularly visit.

Yum this place is BOMB. This is one of my go-to restaurants when I am craving for some Yellow curry. Not only is their yellow curry delicious but just about everything else on the menu is. Papaya salad, mussels, pad see ew is all good! Service is always good too. I believe its a family run restaurant and they are always nice! Take out is fast too, just call and order and its done pretty quick.

Best pad thai! Not to fishy or saucy. Great service and fast. My favorite thai food!

  • Taryn H.

We ordered takeout from Royal Orchid, so I can't comment on the interior environment or service, but this place was really disappointing. It was at least 30 minutes between when we called and when we went to pick it up, and they hadn't even started making the food yet when we arrived. This would have been fine if the food had been good (or at least mediocre). My fried rice wasn't cooked at all, it was underdone to the point that it was crunchy. The meat and vegetables were bland and seemed like they had just been cooked separately and thrown in with the rice at the last minute. I guess some of their other dishes may be good, and our bad experience was just a fluke, but if the fried rice was that bad then I'd just as soon stay away.

  • Peter L.

Royal Orchid has the best overall Thai lunch specials around in the Seattle area, hands down. We have been there nearly every month over the last year or so: the lunch specials are served well into the afternoon. My wife also discovered the lamb curry dish which is pricier than the standard lunch specials but is amazingly good. This is a big enough meal for leftovers the next day. One of the waiters told us that the lamb curry won their chef a prestigious award in a local cook-off, and I have no doubt of that having tasted this at several visits - it absolutely must be tried. The only (minor) drawback is an obscenely small bathroom. It's larger than a telephone booth but not by a whole lot. It would not be up to code for wheelchair accessibility -- but to most folks that won't matter. It earns 5 stars based on the lamb curry alone, ignoring the excellent quality and value of the lunch specials, as well as the friendly staff.

  • Ramzey S.

Pad see Ew is delectable. This is my go-to Thai place (mostly because it's close to my house and they cook fast for take-out). The lunch specials are bountiful and come in at just $7.95. Often I grab the crab rangoon, an iced thai tea, and an order of fried rice for later. Their Phad Thai isn't my favorite here because it doesn't have that peanut taste I like. The parking lot is a little dingy and the guys at the oil change place next door will probably gawk at your girlfriend, but otherwise the interior is comfy and intimate. Service is good as the place doesn't get too busy. I would definitely recommend this place over any Thai place in the general vicinity. Much better service than Thai 65, and better food than the two places in southcenter.

  • Shannon H.

My (very american, I know) favorite Thai dishes are phad thai and red curry. Unfortunately, we don't like their version of either dishes, so we would only come here to order something different. I had no idea you could order delivery, I definitely will take advantage of that for some alternative dishes, since we live in a "black out area" where NO ONE will deliver to us. (We are literally one block between Seattle city limits and Renton, and on most "delivery maps" we show up as out of area). I love their fried tofu, but I have never had bad fried tofu... so... Either way, I will go there to try new dishes, and the prices are good, but I won't bother with their curries. Too salty/watery.

Cute, authentic thai spot. Wood floors, wood panel walls, thai decor, the fish tank, the recessed windows, all really nice. It's rather small so if it's busy, be prepared to wait or take-out. I got the Phud Thai wit tofu. Good stuff, yummy. Want to try dozens of others. The take-out container seemed like styrofoam but it had a recycle class 6 arrow on it; I don't think styrofoam is recycleable so idk wat it is. Hmm. You can also tear off the top along the perforated spline. Mint anyone?

Thai is one of my 5 favorite types of food. I've been to many excellent Thai restaurants, as well as Thailand itself. So my lunch at Royal Orchid today was eagerly anticipated after reading their recent review in the Renton Patch which noted they employ the "...former executive chef of the Imperial Queen's Park Hotel, a four-star luxury accomodation in Bangkok". renton.patch.com/article… Royal Orchid has a charming ambiance (everybody loves the big aquarium) in an easy to reach location on a busy street. I began with my usual starter of Thai iced tea, which was pretty standard, then proceeded to order an unusual item I hadn't seen before on a Thai menu - Stuffed Chicken Wings. This appetizer gets points for creativity and presentation, but falls disappointingly short on flavor, even with the sauce that accompanied it. For the entrée I ordered the Royal Orchid Special Noodles (with Beef), and again, the presentation shined but the flavor did not. My taste buds were not as impressed as my eyes, and as an added insult, the beef-to-noodle ratio was decidedly on the skimpy side. One last try with dessert, so I ordered the Sticky Black Rice with Lanzones. Surely, this is where their star chef's expertise would burst forth with the amazing exotic flavors I've come to love about Thai cuisine. Instead, the pattern repeated itself again, and I got a good-looking dish whose flavor was not commensurate with its visual appeal. I should disclose that with regards to the appetizer and entree I specified "NOT spicy", but mild. This shouldn't have been an excuse for the food's blandness though, since I do the same thing at every Thai restaurant I go to and usually still enjoy very flavorful dishes. This restaurant's food is "Royal" in name only, and very peasant-like when it comes to taste.

This was the very first place my wife and I ate at after arriving in Seattle and even after trying other local restaurant options it's still our favorite. We ordered the Royal Orchid special noodles with tofu and to this day it's our #1 favorite. The peanut sauce is magical. Tons of vegan options, the staff is always very friendly, and the food is always fantastic.

Great thai food with authentic staff and service. Love the curry spices here not a thick one but I like it on thw thinner side.the noodles could use a bit more of a kick. Rice should come with curry.

Absolutely delish!! Just moved into Seattle and my family is from Indonesia so I'm picky about Thai food... Oh my Goodness when I found this place it's the only Thai place I go too. And my grandparents are in town and I took them there we had no leftovers, and if you get the chance for lamb satay mouth watering. It honestly smells like my grandmas kitchen when I walk in and taste similar to what I grew up eating. If you're looking for good quality Thai. This is worth the drive and money!! Not to mention the servic is great. Also bring your appetite portions are large. Mmmmm writing review makes me crave it even.

Admittedly I partially like this place because it's so close to home and has provided spicy food when I was sick quite often. It's not the best thai ever, but it's still decent. Pros? -Great service -Salad comes out without ordering it to curb your hunger -Relatively cheap -Haven't had anything I didn't like -Open late and on Sundays Cons? -Not as family style as most (smaller portions) -Curries are a bit too runny -Soup could do with more ingredients

This was the only place open Sunday night and I was craving Thai. I normally just get phad Thai, but this time I got a salad also to share with my girlfriend. Both items were tasty. We ordered 4/4 spicy and it didn't really measure up but they brought a spice rack too. Service was fast and friendly, the food tasted good, the restaurant was clean and neat, and the price was just rite. 5 stars from me!

I've been coming here for 18 years and I have to say you'd be hard pressed to find a better Thai food at a good price! I love this place and have never been disappoint, wish I could go there more often..

This place is authentic. It's family style and away from all the buzz of the shopping malls near Southcenter where you'll find other Thai restaurants. The locals pretty much only know this place. They take the entertainment coupon too - buy 1, get 1 entree. Prices without the coupon are reasonable as well! I'm definitely going back in the future. Good place for lunch or dinner.

I had a very mediocre experience here with the food yesterday. The service, however was quite awesome. I came by at around 2:59 thinking I had just missed lunch (since it ends at 3), but whatever. The guy ringing me up said, "Technically, you would have missed lunch hour, but I'll let you have it anyway." I probably saved a dollar or something, but it was really a kind gesture. Most places would have honestly just charged me the dinner price. I was craving pad kee mao after work and this place was right off the freeway according to Yelp, so I stopped by. The waiter was very very kind. He came back to check on me twice in my 15 minute wait to apologize for the wait and that my food would be right out. That was unnecessary since it was only a 15 minute wait but it showed he actually valued my patronage. The restaurant itself was very nice aesthetically. The fish tank before my in the waiting area was awesome. They had some very lovely exotic fish buoyantly grazing the tank to watch. Most of the decor was of wood and finely detailed carved wood and it gave me a warm feeling. I associate wood with the feeling of warmth, I don't know about you guys. Once I got my food and went home, I was very disappointed with my pad kee mao. It was bland, mostly just the wide rice noodles and had little to no vegetables. I'd like to give this place another shot since the service was good, however. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they just made a mistake this time.

Ok, what I love most about Royal Orchid is they are part of the food delivering service( 2goservices.deliverychec… )... It.is .awesome and the fee for delivery is like $8.00 or something so its not bad at all! We have had a couple evenings where driving was not an option, and we ordered from royal orchid through the delivery service. The food is always delicious, prices are reasonable, and the people who take the orders are always super friendly and sweet. We will have to come to the restaurant sometime to try it out!

Don't be turned away just because it's on Rainier Ave First let me start off by stating that Thai food is my all time favorite food. So that being said, I am going to have high expectations. They are far the best Thai food. Their spring rolls are to die for. The seating is super adorable perfect for a nice little date. The wait staff are very friendly and informative. One of them is always dressed super cute. A bonus is they give you a complimentary little salad while waiting for your dinner. The best part is the portions are so big that you have leftovers for a dinner or lunch the next day. Don't forget to try the sticky rice!

This place is hard to rate because it's such a dive on the outside, and its location leaves something to be desired, but the food is actually pretty decent. I had the Phad Thai. It was good, but didn't wow me (my favorite Phad Thai in Renton is probably from Thai 65 because of its distinctive flavor). Portion sizes and prices were good, and the service was very good. I also recommend the crab rangoon as an appetizer. I'd definitely go back again and try something different to get a better feel for this place. Maybe if I order something that wows me and really find out what earned it the "best Thai in Renton" honor, I'll give it an extra star, but for now I'll leave it at three stars to represent a place that's good but not particularly out of this world.

I don't understand how this place only gets a 3 1/2 star rating. I've been here many times and had a 5 star experience every time. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The decor is beautiful, the fish tank exotic and the food is heavenly. Get the thai iced tea, you won't regret it. Fried shrimp, orange chicken, showering rama, crispy prawn rolls, golden cashew...I could eat here everyday.

This place is my go to for Thai food. I love the red curry and their noodle dishes are good too. Service is always top notch, even when we show up late in the evenings. My husband is a huge fan of their duck as well.

So, i went here for the first time last night...and honestly, its really not that good at all. The Phad See-Iw was dry, and the Phad Thai noodles werent even cooked all the way. The spring rolls (not fried), were ok. But the dipping sauce should have been peanut sauce instead of that weird sauce it came with. And the menu said it comes with basil in it, not cilantro. They were still o.k. The only reason why I came in here was becasue I was getting my oil changed next door. I should have just went to Tommy's next door, it would have been cheaper and much better!

I absolutely LOVE this place. The food is to die for. All the cooks and the waitresses are Thai and to me that is a great sign. Every time I have been here the food has been perfect and I have had enough to take some home. They offer a lot of dishes that most Thai places do not. The dinner specials are the best. I'd try their lamb curry and they have amazing mango and sticky rice. We also recently had their "laughing mussels" in a curry sauce. We devoured it. The interior is really cute and would be perfect for a date. Some of the friendliest waiters I have ever had.

I'm giving them two stars cause the food was good, not great, but good and their Thai iced tea was yummy. I know some chefs are very sensitive when it comes to their food and they feel like the way they prepare it is perfect so they don't like it when customers want to add something, say salt, pepper, etc. so those additions are not put out, as is with this place, so I forgive for that. My not giving them 5 had to do with the customer service. I only went to this place because of a coupon I got. I'm new to this area and have been trying out new restaurants. I was excited to go here because I love Thai food. As is with good customers, you always show your coupon in the beginning. Once this was seen, the mood changed. The coupon was from restaurant.com and specified that you had to order $35 worth of food to get the $25 off, no problem. But the waitress said somewhat rudely "what else are you going to order because you know you have to order $35 of food to use this." We had already ordered the $14 appetizer, two Thai iced teas and two entrees - which actually already got us there, but being nice, we pointed out were were planning on ordering the mango sticky rice for dessert. Within five minutes of receiving our small cup of soup, which I had not even had a chance to sip since I was eating a bite from the appetizer, I was asked if I was done. Like we were being rushed through. Even though it was practically empty. There was no line waiting to be seated, it was after 1pm and I think there was a total of 6 people, including us, sitting and eating. The last thing I want to say to warn you all who are going to go here is they AUTOMATICALLY add an %18 S. Service Charge to your bill - aka the tip. I find this difficult to swallow because that means they can treat you however and they will still get an %18 tip because they add it to the bill! I often give %20+ for excellent service at the restaurants I go to, but I dictate that - they shouldn't. Especially when their service isn't worth the %18% they are charging! I don't know if it truly is for everyone, or just because we had the coupon, but I am telling you to warn you so you are prepared for it! Good luck :-)

Good Thai food, reasonable prices, and a mouth full of spice! Great place to eat if your just driving around and not sure what you really want in your tummy. The food here is always consistent and always tasty. I recommend the angel wings for those who like stuffed fried chicken. Phad Thai and Phad see eww are a standard and taste good. If you are adventurous make sure you try something else on the menu. Portions are fair, not falling over your plate, and not small where you have to squint and wonder where your food went. I'd recommend this place to someone if they were looking for good Thai food to eat.

This is by far one of the best Thai places I've ever eaten at. The value of the lunch specials truly can't be beat. I recommend the Garlic Chicken; I get it with brown rice and it also comes with a clump of Pad Thai. I've also tried the Larb salad, crying tiger, and Thai basil for dinner. They've both been excellent and I always come away with a good experience. The service has ALWAYS been good. The same man has always been working, and it seems like they only always have 2 people running the dining room...yet, the service is always impeccable and attentive.

last time i came here, i realized that i had been coming here for 12 years. guess it's time i yelped about it. this place has good thai food, excellent service, and great hours. (it's frustrating to crave phad thai on a sunday and have nowhere to get it!) sometimes they'll throw in a $5 coupon with your order for next time. i hadn't gotten one the last two times i came in, but i'll keep returning regardless.

The food here is delicious! We come here for the office lunch about once a month and they are friendly and fast, which is a must. They are usually pretty crowded, but not too much where we have to wait. They have lunch specials with combo's, all under $8.

My husband and I love this place! We've only ever ordered take-out but the restaurant always seems to be buzzing with groups of people. Word of advice: call ahead if ordering out. It takes a while for the food to be prepared. They have the best panang curry with beef! Order it: you won't be sorry :)

  • Angel B.

I've been here a few times, and yep- I'm a fan. I love Vietnamese, Indian, sushi & Thai, and for Renton- this is a pretty nice spot. I had their drunken noodles which were pretty good. I really enjoyed their Tom Yum soup, but my favorite are the spring rolls! For some reason- most places don't get spring rolls right, but I crave Royal Orchids spring rolls, they are yummy! What I love the most about this place is the customer service; they are friendly, they come back & check on you, their timely, they just take really good care of you- which is very important to me.

Great south end Thai cuisine at the South end of Rainier Ave. A litle slow today but food was excellent as always. We had Tom Ka soup with 3 Star. Whew! Get me a napkin. We split an Angel eggplant dish with squid which was yummy. A definite have to try if you like authentic Thai.

  • Andres V.

Definitely the best Thai place that I have tried in Renton so far, but not worth going out of your way for. The food was ok; much better than "The Best Pho & Thai Restaurant" located close-by. If you live in Renton and don't want to go too far for decent Thai food, go!

Oh... had a bad take out exchange with them. I gave them money and they gave me a sticky pile of glob that was supposed to be a rice noodle dish. One might think it was the take out that did it but, no I had gotten it from them before as take out and it had been fine. They just REALLY overcooked the noodles. I don't know if I will be back or not. Right now? No.

I used to frequent this restaurant so much the servers there all knew me by my first name! I have always thought that Thai food is one of the most easiest and effortless cooking you can ever try, I mean how hard can it be to melt down some peanut butter and stir fry some curry, right?! WRONG! This place has a nice blend of curry mixed in their peanut sauce(showering rama), the stuffed chicken wings here is what keeps me coming back, and of course the service! It's really a neighborhood gem if you ask me for the people that live down South in the Renton/Skyway area.

It was one of those days where I was sort of driving aimlessly looking for somewhere to eat. While driving past this place I saw that they have lunch specials for $6.95. Sounds pretty good ey? I thought so too, and I stopped in. FOOD: The lunch special comes with one entree, pad thai noodles, steamed rice, and a spring roll. I chose cashew chicken as my entree and it was decent. Not the best I have ever had.. but good. The pad thai tasted extremely fishy. I know that most restaurants put fish sauce in it, but geez. This was fish sauce central! The spring roll was soggy and not something I would ever get again. I also ordered a thai iced tea, which was weak tasting. SERVICE: Excellent service. My server was extremely friendly and welcoming. He was attentive and made my less than delicious lunch a very pleasant experience. I am certainly not jumping at the opportunity to visit this place again. I mean, great service is appreciated.. but the food was so blah. However, I will say that their dessert menu looked delicious.

Well, I still like it - and they're open on Sundays, which really saved my bacon. I'm downgrading them slightly because of the prices - they are charging eleven dollars for ten dollar (or seven dollar depending on where you go) meals, and the taste is not there. It's not bad - maybe it's the chef. The satay was excellent, but barely warm. The spring rolls were really hot - temperature hot (this is starting to sound like Goldilocks and the three Thai appetizers). The main course was okay, but a little heavy on the coconut milk in the curry, like they watered it down or something. Three stars should have a burn, and this only made me thirsty, not because of the heat but because of the thickness of the curry (that coconut milk again). I still like it - if there was three-and-a-half stars I would go there. Since the last was a four I figure this can be a three and that averages out. On the way out I went through South Center and Mali Thai also is open on Sunday (although finding parking in South Center might be a chore with all the shopping). If I had known I would have gone there instead.

I have been here several times now and have never been disappointed. I tried one of their lunch deals last week and it was very good. The spicy beef meal was a lot of food for only $6.95. They are really nice there too. I have also called in orders so they will be ready when we get there since we have a limited amount of time for lunch. They make it work it to drive to Royal Orchid instead of going to Thai 65 which is closer to my work building.

Had the swimming rama and I have to say my vegetables were very fresh and the sauce was a perfect creamy flavorful texture. Friendly staff and overall very clean. The only thing I didn't like was that the water tasted like the lemon had been sitting in the pitcher for way too long so that was pretty gross. Other than that we will return many times

  • Shaula M.

I thought this was quite decent. Veggies were very fresh, there were vegetarian options, and they had fresh rolls which did have noodles (I prefer none but that's rare) but some veggies and shrimp too. thanks to the person who recommended the BB Broccoli. Mine unfortunately had way more onion, but I subscribe to a produce box and happen to have read that this week is between growing seasons in two areas so it happens to be difficult to come by this week.

I have been here several times. Food is always decent and tasty. Tom Yum soup is very good. Pad Thai is also yummy. It is not the best Thai food around but it is one of my favorite for a quick & affordable meal. Service is good but sometimes could get slow if the place gets busy.

Lovely food, awesome people and always great service with a smile at a great price... the best Panang curry and Chili paste fried rice I have had... my favorite thai place by a long long way... i go there at least 3 times a week [sometimes more :(] have their coconut prawns, chicken satay, panang curry.. .all are simply super!

A little bit of a diamond in the ruff (rainier ave in renton is def. ghetto) but this is one of the only places I will go to for Thai food. I love their chicken pad thai. Holy shit, it's amazing. And the service has always been wonderful. I crave this place regularly. I definitely recommend it.

Happened to be down in Renton recently and stopped by with a group. We were all quite happy with our experience. I would rate this place a good value for the decor, portion size & quality, and service. Most entrees fall between $9 - $10 and are quite tasty. Spring rolls with tofu instead of prawns were a great treat prior to the main course. Pud See Ew had good veggies, tofu, sauce, and noodles. Their wine selections are actually quite good, we had some wine aficionados with us and they were happy with the Lindeman's 2006. Royal Orchid is now on my list of good places to dine in Renton!

Great friendly service here. You get a warm welcome as soon as you walk through the door, friendly wait staff get you to your table quickly, no messing around here. The food here isn't anything super special, but its pretty good. Because I am a huge fan of thai food, I may be a little biased and picky when it comes to rating different restaurants. The food here seems pretty fresh and comes to the table quickly. I really enjoy the curries here, that is the only reason they get 4 stars, well that and I cant give them 3 1/2 stars. The pud see ew is good, big chunks of broccoli and chicken. The mango sticky rice is a different but tasty dessert option especially with a good ole thai iced tea.

oh man, there are just times in your life when you've had a bad day and there's nothing on earth that can make it better EXCEPT a big plate of Royal Orchid's Special Noodles. You can order it as spicy as you like, up to five (although my daughter has asked for higher and they always smile and give her what I would call a killer plate of noodles). The Special Noodles sauce is a peanut sauce that has just the right amount of flavor. Order it with the meat of your choice. Yum! Oh, and where on earth can you get coconut ice cream that tastes so fresh? (The other food is delicious too!)

Great food and service. Prices are a tad high but not too bad. I have to eat Gluten and dairy free and they have always been able to accommodate me by not using soy sauce in my dishes. Best Thai restaurant in the area in my opinion.

This place is great! The people that work here are very attentive to their customers and even when they are busy! This place offers great lunch specials and to yummy panang Chicken! The cook here has won awards for her cooking. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great Thai food in Renton!

  • A D.

I don't know if it's a NW thing or what, but this place like others in the area have the star system to determine the level of spicy in the food. 4 or 5 stars is the hottest you can order. And that is freeking HOT!!! Do not order this level unless you can REALLY handle spicy food. My buddy order some curry at the high level and I thought he was going to explode. Of course he was macho man and he called it "nicely spiced". I ordered 2 stars on mine and it was good. Not too hot and not too low. just right. I have been there several times and it's a decent place for Thai food.

  • Jennifer A.

I have now expanded my thai horizons and it is just "eh now compared to other places. If you order anything that is a stir-fry or a curry, it is so heavy on the carrots, which annoys me. I have also heard rumors of some hanky-panky involving the owners. It is still the best thai I have found in Renton, but not the best thai ever. I am open to suggestions.

    (3)
  • Malaya S.

I have been here a few times. The inside is much nicer then the unattractive exterior. I love their salt water aquarium! My biggest complaint was that the crab wonton had absolutely no crab so I would never order it again. Much better food and service then Thai 65 at the Landing but not nearly as good as Bai Tong at Southcenter. I also wish they would upgrade their tea selection to something other then cheap tea bags in a tiny tin pot.

  • Amy L.

I went here for lunch yesterday and it hit the spot. I was craving Thai and some suggested it. When you first are seated they give you a little cup a soup that was perfect to warm you up as you decided what you wanted to order. They have a couple lunch specials that looked like good deals, but I was in the mood for yellow curry...and it was yummy...I got 3 out of 4 stars...it could have been a little spicier, but it worked for me. I do have to say that I've been complaining about Seattle Thai and how it doesn't come with rice...and here the rice came...yipee!!! The atmosphere in the place was quaint and nice...I'd definitely come by here again!!

Love this place but sometime I get bad service or preparation of my food. This place still put more favors into their food than most others.

  • nate j.

I've never been disappointed by this place. We had taken-out lunch for six of us for about $62, so I consider this low moderate. The food was very delicious with even only 2 stars being plenty spicy for most of us. Call-in orders are typically ready exactly when they say it'd be ready, usually no more than 15-20 minutes. Save yourself $5 by looking for a coupon in the mailer coupons and/or the Renton Reporter. There's usually a $5 off an entree when two are purchased coupon in there. The only knock I have is the decor is a bit dated and the parking can sometimes be filled up during peak times. But you go for the food (usually take-out) and that's what matters, right?

  • MiChin L.

This is my go-to for Thai food in the South end. We eat here pretty often and the food is consistently good. The staff are very sweet and always provide a great dining experience. Nice, clean place too. My favorite dish is the stir-fried eggplant in spicy sauce, and I love their larb gai and tom yum soup as well.

    (4)
  • Matt S.

If I could, I'd actually peg this one at 3.5 stars. The prices were fair, the food was by and large decent, and the service and atmosphere were both good. That said, it isn't quite good enough to have me set aside my search for a really good Thai place for us to frequent. It'll do in a pinch, but it doesn't really excite me. (Regarding the spiciness issue... Finding a place in the Northwest that will do Thai food that is spicy by my standards is a losing proposition on the best of days, so I've stopped judging by that.)

    (3)
  • Amy B.

This is a reliably good Thai restaurant. Decent selection, warm service, and fun decorations make this a keeper. I've stuck mostly to the curries and pad thai and never been disappointed. I often get tom yum soup when I am almost getting sick and this place has the rest in Renton beat. Its spicy, warm, and with a wholesome broth - a cure all for sickness! I highly recommend this fantastic gem in Renton!

  • Greg M.

BEWARE...Looks like crap from the outside! But, don't let it fool ya. This place is real nice on the inside. Has a nice atmosphere that's pretty chill. There were only a couple of servers that night but they worked their a$$es off. The food was good. I was gonna try the Phad Thai, but opted for the "summer" something instead. The Veges were nice and fresh, and had great flavor. Plenty of food, and not too expensive. Give it a shot, and don't let the guard tigers scare you away!

I used to eat here all the time since it was close to the in-laws but hadn't been here for several years. It hasn't changed much. My mom took me and the girls to lunch here today. Our waitress was nice (and very young - probably 17 or 18) but had very poor communications skills when you ask for no peppers (that means all peppers - not just green) and when we ordered sticky rice for dessert she brough us out some white sticky rice in a plastic bag???? The potstickers were good and the lunch specials were average (I do really like their phad thai but they could put either some tofu or chicken in it). The servings are just enough for 1 - not a lot of leftovers : ( I did order the phad ke mao and it was just meh (noodles were globbed together and the taste was just ok). Lunch for 4 was $55 with tax and tip - a little on the high side for what we actually got but I'll probably be back if I'm in the neighborhood and want thai.

We've been here twice and think its a good option for a casual dinner. You have to ask for chopsticks, and the a/c can be a bit chilly, but the food comes quickly, tastes extremely fresh, and the service is warm and friendly.

The quality of the food at this restaurant is always excellent. The taste is authentic and rich. The service is very good and the prices are very reasonable. Also wanted to mention that I love the pet fish in the tank as you walk in. They are lovely and very sweet.

this place was my first thai experience. a friend brought me there and she was vegetarian so she made us get vegetarian food, which I was hostile towards at the time. but i enjoyed my first taste of thai (how had i been deprived of it until I was 15?) and a couple years later went vegetarian. i've been back to royal orchid several times and brought family and friends there and they've brought people they knew. it's an excellent restaurant with great vegetarian options. i recommend the BB Broccoli. I'm not sure about the curries, so if you're veg check if they have fish sauce. but i've had many a warm culinary memory at this place. i remember prices being decent and servers being friendly. nice atmosphere as well, with nice posters/pictures of various aspects of Thailand. My favorite is the fruit carving poster!

Really charming place in an odd location next to a Denny's in Renton. Crab wontons with nice slightly spicy orange glaze dipping sauce, big curry portions and fantastic ambiance. Call in orders are quick and prices are reasonable. As far as Renton Thai and curry places, I'd say this is the best.

This used to be my favorite thai restaurant... back when it was the only thai place that i tried. Now that i have eaten at many other thai restaurants Royal Orchid gets moved down toward the bottom for their noodle dishes :(. But I do like their stuffed chicken a lot!!!

    (3)
  • Burger T.

Moo Yang, oh how I have missed you, it seems like a quest of epic proportions in order to find this dish. Royal Orchid was one of the only places still serving it. Any how, they changed the dish here cutting up strips of pork chops and serving it like teriyaki. Where is my sticky rice? Anyway this place is a bit overpriced, under spiced and you can find better if you look. Sorry Royal Orchid you can't just coast anymore.

    (2)
  • Ben L.

Love the boneless stuffed chicken wings. Other dishes are okay, not enough food for the price. The Pad see ew gets too sweet at times and looks burnt.
