This place is starting to grow on me. I am an Ezell's man, but Popeye's is easier on the budget. The spicy has a kick and they also offer sandwiches and sides that other chains do not. The service can be slow here and ever time I'm there someone screws up my order, or I see anther customer yelling about the slow service or getting the wrong order. That said, the staff is always responsive and in every case they correct the order and manage to throw a little something extra in the bag for your trouble. Ezell's still has bigger pieces and would be the place I would take an out of towner, but Popeye's still pleases and is a great place for a quick lunch or later evening snack.

By far, THE BEST fried chicken EVER! Perfectly seasoned. Definitely my favorite place. The sweet tea here is better than any at McDo's or sold in a can or bottle. The biscuits are flaky and buttery. Not doughy like KFC's. Luckily the closest chain is in Renton. I'm not tempted every week to go here.

I have mixed feelings about you Popeyes....What I do like is how flavorful your chicken is. I don't care that you are greasy because you are still crispy, hot, spicy and tasty. You also have a huge lobby of tables and that I really like. However, your portions are lacking....your servings are bigger than KFC, but..well, that's certainly nothing to boast about ...and you are certainly much smaller than Ezell's. Your biscuit... I ate in one bite. I like my chicken with some meat in them, not a fan of fried chicken that consists of nothing but breading and bone. Stray away from KFC like chicken and more towards Ezell's in the portion and taste department and you will be much better. Also, your staff are ratchet characters who have bad attitudes. You should fix that. But I'll give you three stars instead of two because I'm a fatass that loves fried chicken &hearts&

I went here today because I was in the area. Plus, I saw their commercial for $2.99 for 2 chicken tenders on TV the other day and thought it seemed like a good deal. The chicken tenders were surprisingly good. You have a choice of regular or spicy. I opted for the spicy. The tenders were nice & crispy & spicy. I wish I would have asked for some dipping sauce, but, oh well. You also get a biscuit (good) & choice of a side. All for a mere $2,99! What a deal! I chose the red beans & rice as a side. It was pretty good too. For a chain fast food joint, I would say that this is a decent pick.

Of the Popeyes I've been to in the past, this one has the most friendly people I've met. My only gripe is nothaving the Bonafide Drumettes all the time .. seems to be some seasonal thing.

Lies.... all lies. Popeye is a sellout! Eating spinach didn't make me gain super strength.... He then goes on to open a chicken and biscuit place to fix the spinach fiasco. I've eaten here many many times and all I've gained is super fat.

Don't hate my peeps. Just go the the Fed-Wy location. yelp.com/biz/ikiO4n_zplR… Faster, cleaner, and did I say faster? Forget the mashed pots and gravy! Get the red beans and rice!!! OH YEAH!!

Three hour drive home from Portland, raining sheets - can hardly see the lane markers on I-5 (thanks for driving Sophie!), on New Years Day, in shall we say....less than "perfect" shape. Me and the crew dropped by to grab some chicken so ensure we would not have to leave the house again for a minimum of 24 hours. This was the plan - eat some bomb ass chicken, fill up on biscuits with red beans and rice, and hit the sack. I know, it's the weight loss plan of 2010. Simple enough, right? Wait for it.... We waited no less than THIRTY &$%^@**(@!!! minutes for a damn eight piece of spicy chicken. You read it right. YES it was busy YES they ran out of spicy YES we could have taken some original instead. As every minute passed we thought to ourselves "it should be ready any second...right?" After all this, the least these bitches could have done was offer a couple extra wings or something. But of course they didn't. Fast food? Me thinks not.

Bojangle's it ain't. Super-clean inside it ain't. But you're going to eat fried chicken and biscuits, and I can guarantee you, if the place is sparkly clean, the biscuits and chicken are going to suck! The chicken here is excellent. Crisp, burn-your-mouth hot, and juicy, it beats Ezell's for me, mostly because there's no soy flour in the breading to make me itchy. Popeye's is based in Atlanta and the southern sensibilities show, both in the choices of sides (collards, mac and cheese, etc) and in the outstanding biscuits. The fries are battered and have seasoning on them so they may or not be your thing, but I like them. Not good for you at all, it's a fantastic treat once in a while.

I don't understand why the people of Popeye's is denying the Eastside and the Lynnwood area of this BOMBBBB CHICKEN. : ( So cruel... I got my first taste of Popeye's in Korea (yea, it was in Korea 10 years ago and it only reached Seattle like 5 years ago-go figure) and fell in love with it. I was ecstatic to hear that they were opening one up in Renton. My friends and I went down there soon after it's opening and ordered ourselves some greasy, fattening, heart-attacking inducing chicken. And of course, biscuits. You can't have chicken without the biscuits. They're WAY better than KFC's. During our pilgrimage, my friends and I saw some ghetto things happen. Jerry Springer ghettoness. A guy was making a commotion, demanding to speak with one of the female employees, supposedly b/c she was hooking up with one of her co-workers and he wanted to confront her about it. This is happening while all the lines were hella long and the place is packed. I think the manager finally told him to leave. JER-RY! JER-RY! JER-RY! Even though it's far and ghetto, it's still worth it.

I have to say Papeye's is way better than any of the other chicken places I eatten at. Better than KFC, Bojangles, Ezelles. I love the spicy chicken. One of the few that you can put in the toaster oven the next day and still taste and look good. KFC next day is all oily and nasty.

  • Robert C.

Okay, I'll have to admit it. I love Popeye's. I love their biscuits, the red beans and rice, and their spicy chicken. To hell with KFC, this is finger lickin' good. The chicken can sometimes be slightly greasy, but it's fried chicken - what can you expect?! If you've ever had Church's chicken, it's tons better than that. However, I loved Church's okra, but there's no chains near me (much like my beloved Sonic Drive-in.)

  • Ally W.

Juicy chicken, delicious fries, and a nice cool fruit punch to top it all off. The only reason I gave it 3 stars was because I had to wait a bit for it all even though there wasn't really anyone in the place. But other than that, Popeyes is mad nommy!

I will choose Popeyes over KFC any day of the week. Technically yes...this is fast food fried chicken. Probably doesn't compare to some mom and pop shops who have been frying chicken homemade with their original spice blend for 40+ years. But for the price and quality Popeyes is pretty darn good...and for more than just their chicken! -Red Beans & Rice: The flavor is one that I have never found anywhere else and have not been able to duplicate. A little spicy but not overwhelming...and a perfect ratio of beans to rice. A must try! -Biscuits: These must have a layer of butter on top because each bite is soft and flaky with enough butter taste to not have to put anything more on these. 100x better than KFC. -Mashed Potatoes & Gravy: Their potatoes are just potatoes but the gravy is a Cajun gravy that has a blend of spices that makes it taste like home made and way better than KFC. -Chicken: Always Crispy and always juicy. It is the BEST! Why not give them 5 stars? Well, you have to go all the way to freakin Renton to get Popeyes. If they were closer to Seattle they would truly be worthy of 5 stars.

I LOVE POPEYES. tastes the same in atlanta as it does in renton. i normally don't like fried chicken, but oh my damn this place changed my perspective. i love the cajun fries, they don't lie when you order the large ones. i'd go here anyday than KFC. i like to order at the counter rather than the drive-thru, the clarity of the voicebox is not top notch.

I get it, which is why it gets three stars...but I don't love it. The wait was a bit long, but the food was good, and my boyfriend damn near had an orgasm about it. If it makes him happy and doesn't make me sick, then it works.

Dear Sweet Baby Jesus, thank you so much for finding it within your providence to install the Popeye's Chicken and Biscuits so close to our new digs in the Valley of the Rainier. There are so few choices worth writing a word about, but for Popeye's I can hardly find them. Loses one star for being a chain - I'm snobby like that.

    (4)
  • Heather G.

Although Popeyes is good and I should be happy that I have one so close..... this one stinks compared to the ones in the south. I usually get my order, pay a huge amount and then they screw it up somehow. I have been charged different amounts each time I go for the same thing. It's pretty annoying but I do LOVE the spicy chicken.

  • Fumiko Y.

Forget KFC! Drive over to Popeye's for the juicy, tasty, artery-clogging chicken (yes, it's that good)! I can't stop raving about this place. I wish we had one in Seattle. But then again, maybe not. Too much of a good thing can kill you, right? Even the sides are good and delicious. There is one in Federal Way also, folks.

    (5)
  • Erica W.

The 4 stars was for the biscuits. Geez these things are so good, except when someone gets a little too happy with the salt. But they're fluffy, warm, buttery goodness which taste amazing with some grape jam on it. Now for the chicken, its not that bad either, not much flavor in it at all unless you get the spicy one which isn't even spicy. The side dishes leave much to be desired, I prefer the ones from KFC better.

    (4)
  • Ryan M.

My first Popeye's experience was here. The chicken is awesome. I won't be back to KFC. This is now one of my top choices for the nights where I'm thinking "Meh, I don't want to cook tonight, where should I go?".

  • Romeo V.

OK...another lunch run this week for work and we decided to go to Popeye's. I ordered the three chicken strip meal and sub the fries with the mac n' cheese. The strips were good, not dry at all...the batter was good, not too thick. The mac n' cheese was good and the biscuit (with honey) was good as well. Nothing really stood out about the meal. Overall, the meal was good...nothing spectacular. I wouldn't make it out of my way to go back to this place for fried chicken but then again, it wouldn't be quite a last resort either. For great fast-food fried chicken, you can go to Albertson's and get the strips/fritters there or check out Church's Chicken, which I hear is somewhere near South Tacoma or Lacey. Anyways, Popeye's is good but not spectacular.

If I had to work at 10 PM on a Saturday night, I wouldn't be the happiest person. But these guys were all really nice and helpful. Friendliest fast food place I've been to in months.

I wish I had more reasons to visit Renton. Popeye's chicken is crispy, greasy goodness! For the ultimate meal, make sure to also get the warm flakey biscuits, the delightful dirty rice and the wicked collard greens. Meat, carbs and fiber. Now just how can this combo be bad for you??!! 4 Stars - Someday I'll do a Renton-to-Seattle fried chicken shootout!

    (4)
  • Niko M.

This place is awesome, always having specials and much much better than KFC or Ezelles (which has fallen off a bit since I was a kid). Can't beat the biscuits and apple pies for dessert either. Only fair warning I would give: check your order before you leave, to make sure it was right but also so you get the hot sauce and jelly (gotta have it for the biscuits), they're stingy with the condiments but if you keep asking they give in. I eat everything here though, can't go wrong. Now if we can get a Church's I'd be one fat dude.

I've been wanting to go try a Popeye's Chicken for the longest time and I finally made it to one! I ordered the #2 dark, mild , Sierra mist, red beans and rice... It was good and filling! The red beans and rice were delicious... a little spicy and smokey! The chicken was crispy and juicy... I was pleasantly surprised! After eating at KFC for all these years.. it was nice to see how Popeye's differed from each other. I can't wait to come back!!!

I really cannot express properly my love for Popeyes. Even though I will be sore the next day, their spicy fried chicken is so incredibly delicious it cannot be passed up. And it's a chain! How can a chain have such good quality anyway? My favorite is the gravy for the mashed potatoes though. So good with little giblet chunks in it. Also they have a drink there just called "Strawberry". Strawberry Drink(tm). Guess what it tastes like? Liquid delicious, that's what. Oh god. And the biscuits. They are basically just baked pads of butter with biscuit interspersed. So salty and buttery and amazing. Sop up the rest of your gravy with one and your head may explode from all the deliciousness. Do not fear the head explody. Embrace it.

  • Tonya N.

Friggen love Popeyes!!!! If im gonna be bad, this is THE place i go to. Its all about the Chicken and the biscuit for me here... SO crispy, spicy and juicy... and there isnt a better biscuit anywhere. I dont know how they do it. So buttery on the outside. Corn on the cobb, chicken strips, ehhh... not the best ever. But all other sides are great. For fried chicken, popeyes takes 1st place.

  • Lily N.

Popeye's Fried Chicken is a digestive orgasm wrapped in a crispy, seasoned exterior. I'd eat their fried chicken every day if I didn't plan on living past forty and enjoyed having grease-covered poo. And yes, Popeye's is far superior to Ezell's (sorry, Oprah). Staff is friendly but aloof, and it's not the cleanest or swankiest place, but remember that sacrifices must be made in order to bring you the best fried chicken on the planet. Just get it to-go and allow chicken-flavored grease to drizzle down your gluttonous chin in the comfort of your own home every once in a while.

  • Rachel B.

I've been eying Popeyes for a while now. I had heard of them before but never experienced one. It isn't bad. I might consider eating there again. The chicken was ok. Quite salty. The mashed potatoes and cajun gravy were ok. The gravy was different but again, it was ok. The best thing about it was they had strawberry soda! Ohhhhh! That was very exciting for me! I don't eat KFC or Ezells so I suppose if I want fried chicken I might think about going here. Maybe.

    (2)
  • Jeremy M.

I would have to say this place is just ok, nothing out of the ordinary as far as fried chicken goes. The skin of the chicken I must admit is quite nice and crispy not soggy like KFC fried chicken but it's no Ezell's! I do think that they are a little pricier then other places and the side dishes we ordered(beans and rice, biscuit, and mash potatoes) are nothing spectacular.

  • Esteban D.

1.99 FOR 2 PIECES OF CHICKEN AND A BISCUIT. 7.99 FOR 9 PIECES OF CHICKEN... til the end of April!!! Popeyes, why do you make it so easy to want to eat delicious chicken all the time? Would you try to take it easy on us overweight people who need to distance ourselves from your addictive chicken and red beans and rice? I hate you Popeyes. I hate you for making me love you so much.

    (4)
  • Jill P.

This chicken tastes so good, but the pieces are sooo small. The legs are like the drummette of a wing at other chicken places. The wings look like chicken nuggets. Too expensive for such small pieces.

    (3)
  • Alix H.

I am a fried chicken connoisseur and I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the fried chicken here. It beats Ezells and KFC (yucko). I always get the two piece meal with a side of the collard greens. The chicken is perfectly done and when you bite into it, juices run out and you can see the hot steam pouring out. The biscuit is sooooooooooo buttery that it melts in your mouth. But what do I do? Put more butter on it of course! It's heaven for my mouth.

  • Bryan B.

Popeye's in all its glory. This place is certainly something to look at on the inside. From the customers, employees to tables. There was crumbs and garbage covering almost every open table throughout the place. A woman also decided only wearing a bra inside was acceptable. As for the food, the mashed potatoes were actually pretty good. The fries came out cold and the chicken tenders were average. I'll prolly just spend a little extra next time and go to Heaven Sent.

    (2)
  • Trish J.

The spicy chicken was a mild spicy, just a lil twang to the tongue that creeps up on you. The meat was fresh, moist and didn't have cellulite that I find on most KFC pieces. The mashed potato's were creamy and the onion rings taste like they're hand battered. Nothing worse than a restaurant using frozen onion rings that we all can get from the grocery store. These are worth it. Surprised there is no corn on the menu and the rice wasn't good - couldn't take more than a few bites. I would rather make Zatarans at home and get the chicken from Popeye's. The lady at the cash register didn't know anything about the food. They should train the staff what the difference in items are, how it's made and how it taste. All my questions were answered with an "I don't know" and she never even asked someone to help answer my questions. When I walked in the restaurant there was an employee in the seating area venting about something - pretty loudly too! Complaining of her long days. I didn't want to hear a loud employee venting.....please take it elsewhere.

I have always been a fan of Popeye's as a solid fast food option ever since I first tried it while on a road trip in the bay area. For the most part, you can't go wrong with fried chicken and Popeye's does a good job with theirs. From my experience at this particular location, the food is pretty consistent and I can't recall ever having a bad meal from here. The menu has all the classic southern style comfort foods you would expect from po' boy shrimp sandwiches to classic side items like mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. The service, on the other hand can be wildly inconsistent at this location. On my most recent visit I experienced and observed quite the mixed bag of employees from the older lady who was as nice and friendly as can be while she took orders to the young man hiding around the corner and out of sight of his co-workers while he told the person on the other end of his cell phone call that he didn't care because he can do whatever he wants. I'm assuming he was talking about his lack of effort while on the job, but you never know. He could have at least wiped down a table or two, a lot of them needed it, with the rag he had hanging out of his back pocket. My recommendation would be to order food to go so you don't have to subject yourself to the perils of minimum wage hiring.

Packed with fat and calories, definitely not good for your health, yet you have to eat it at least once a year. We all have our cravings on certain unhealthy food isn't it? For me, it's the fried chicken. Just one bite into that crispy skin sends me to food heaven. However in Seattle, especially in eastside, it's kind of hard to find a good fried chicken in a reasonable price within 30 mins driving distance. By reasonable price, I mean less than $30 for ten piece of chicken. Fortunately, we have Popeyes in Renton. I haven't been there for a year until my family dropped by again last weekend. The environment surprised me a little in a pleasant way. The place feels newer and cleaner. They definitely changed management and interior design. Not only a new section was added, but all the chairs and tables are renewed. The floor and tables are very much cleaner than before. I definitely like the new environment. The staff is pretty fast, too. After my order I noticed that they ran out of soda cup caps. In a minute or two the staff re-stocked the caps. And they filled my order, a 16-piece family meal very fast. It's essential because fried chicken is best eaten hot. The chicken is perfect. Skin is crispy and crunchy, meat is hot and juicy. Usually I'm not a big fan of breast meat because it's often too hard and tough. But their breast meat is very tender. When you bite into the chicken through that crispy skin, you can feel the juicy flew out of meat. It was simply so good. And I have to mention their biscuit. Usually I'm not a biscuit fan because of the buttery smell from southern biscuits. But theirs is great with the right amount of buttery aroma. I got to admit, for a chain store that we visited quite a few times in the last five years, this experience is quite a pleasant surprise. I'm sure I will visit them again. Pictures of the fried chickens uploaded to yelp.

So what if Popeyes is a chain?? Its still one of my favorite fried chicken spots of all time! I have been really lucky that friends would bring a big box of Popeye's to gatherings, since Renton is a bit of a trek for me. I finally had a chance to come here recently and I thought the place was spacious and decent for a fast food joint. Of course you can't beat eating their spicy fried chicken when its fresh from the fryer, which I was lucky to get. The skin alone gives me life! You also can't go without an order of their biscuts too. Go ahead and hate on me for giving this place 5 stars. Popeye's is totally worth the calories.

The chicken at most Popeyes are very similar, the biggest difference I find is in the way their run. This place is so inconsistent. Sometimes you come here and the people are friendly and know the what their doing. Other times its frustrating. Whenever Ive used the drive there its been fine but when you walk in thats when Ive had the most negative experiences. On one visit I ordered two boxes one spicy and one mild. When I was handed the order I ask which box was which since they didnt mark the boxes. So they opened them and both people struggled to figure out which one was which. Then when they finally told me I gave the non spicy box to the kids that couldnt each spicy but it turns out it was the spicy box. Fortunately it didnt turn into a huge disaster but how do you work there and mess that up. Not 1 but 2 people couldnt tell which was in what box. The location is one of the larger Popeyes Ive eaten at and with that there are many more tables to maintain and they do a terrible job at cleanliness. Also I swear they took forever to fix that busted window on the door that is the entrance from the parking lot. It would be nice if they worked on the upkeep of the facility better. There isnt a lot of Popeyes options in the area and Id rather eat Popeyes then KFC any day but from now on Im just using the drive thru here.

This review is loooong overdue!!! I love popeye's. Their fried chicken is the best compared to ezell's and kfc's. It's always crispy and the the meat is always moist. I always go here when I'm on a budget because they always have the best specials/promotions like the bonafide box! It only comes once a year but you get two sides, two pieces of chicken, and a biscuit for $5 what a steal!!! I definitely get a Big Bang for my buck whenever I come here. Some sides you should get are the mac n cheese, mashed potatoes w/ Cajun gravy, Cajun fries, coleslaw, and the Cajun rice. They are all so good. Don't even get me started on their biscuits. Their biscuits are pure heaven. So flaky, so buttery, so yummmmm. The customer service is amazing too! Everyone here is so nice. They're the best!!!

I don't expect the best service from fast food restaurant but I'm surprised this location was on top of it.

I will say it is a notch up from KFC, but not amazing. I went through the drive thru to grab some lunch. I could barely understand what the girl was saying through the speaker since she was talking so fast. I had the 3 piece spicy with fry's. When I got to the window she told me that there was going to be a 4 minute wait on the spicy, I said sure but then she had said never mind, here they come...ummmm ok. I was a bit taken back when she just handed me the box with the food, not in a bag. I dunno, I guess I am just used to getting a bag, not a bog deal, just weird to me. I got my food back to my office which is maybe 5 minutes from here, my food was not very hot. Frys were not even close to being hot, they were soggy and barely warm. Biscuit was good, chicken was pretty decent. I would give it another try.

Well I'm not a fried chicken aficionado, so giving you a layman's point of view. The physical restaurant should be a multi-time rehash fast food building. If you're looking for style, go somewhere else. The person I dealt with acted and dressed like the store manager or a supervisor of sort. Pleasant and polite, very un-fast food like. After sorting through their many offerings, I had planned on ordering an eight-piece chicken deal, but she informed me they have a 10-piece deal for a lower price. Okay, strange pricing but I'll take it, to go. She even let me specify no drumsticks and a half spicy half regular mix; nice. Chicken seems freshly made: the coating crisp and crunchy with the meat hot and juicy, no dry and rubbery pieces here. Of important note, the coating stays on the skin, making for a complete delish experience in every mouthful. Two items to nitpick: 1) the wing pieces are way too tiny (must be the characteristics of cage-grown franken-chicken), 2) the supposed spicy pieces were nearly spicy enough. All in all it was as nice as those I had from them down in Louisiana; very consistent.

We take a detour to Popeye's whenever we're nearby for Fryes Electronics. Staff's friendly, food's great. To my knowledge it's the only dedicated fast food chicken chain around here other than KFC, and it's far better. Loved the biscuits, mashed potatoes, green beans, and of course the delicious chicken. And unlike KFC chicken, my stomach doesn't feel like I'm trying to murder it with grease afterwards, so that's a plus.

I love love love Popeyes. This location is decent in comparison to others. The shrimp cravers are so delicious. The only issue is they always seem to forget my blackened ranch that I pay extra for. The employees are friendly though. The woman who works the drive-thru in the evenings is very friendly and seems to enjoy her job. Its fast and tasty and I highly recommend it.

It's been years since I've had good "fast food" chicken...and I was not disappointed! We live in Spokane Washington and had traveled to Bellingham Washington to watch baseball...I of course made my hubby drive an hour and half out of our way home to Renton so my kids could indulge in the awesomeness that is Popeye's! Well worth it! It was a bonus that the woman helping us had the same name as myself! Thank you Georgia L. for allowing my "mini me" to ring the bell!

I have been here twice n the food sucks everytime. Customer service is horrible, however, today there was a great little lady at the window register who I appreciated her customer service. BUT I didn't check my order before I pulled away. When I opened it to eat the fish was overcooked n hard. There were no utensils to eat my coleslaw, no catchup or other condiments n a dry biscuit.

Good going in, bad going out. Somehow every time I eat here I get sick. I'm not the only one actually. I've talked to a few people about this and we have the same experiences the next day.... TMI, I know. Still, the food is pretty delicious for fast food. Better chicken than KFC IMO. The Mac and cheese is pretty nasty though. Don't get that, seriously. You'll regret it. The biscuit is really good as is the mashed potatoes. Did I mention don't get the Mac and cheese? :P

Usually like Popeyes Decent fast food chicken, it is what it isn't! This place gave me chicken and onion rings that were obviously under a heat lamp for longer than I have ever imagined doing. Cold tougher than hell to chew.. Threw away and went without dinner, this was at 6:35 pm, should have been dinner hour fresh, oh well!

I used to LOVE going to Popeyes (I am a former Assistant Manager). I recently frequented the Popeyes over in 7th. After placing my order, I voiced my concern over the DRIVE THRU CONSISTENTLY providing INCOMPLETE orders. Expressed my frustration and asked the cashier to please make my order was complete. Upon inspecting the "completed" order, I discovered that the honey and 6 biscuits were missing. When mentioning this a young server, I received attitude and no apology. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. When I got home, I also discovered that a piece of chicken was missing. Really?!?!? The story doesn't end there. I contacted Popeyes Headquarters/Corporation TWICE about the poor customer service I received and have YET to receive ANY form of communication (email, phone call, letter). When it comes to GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE either they don't have a clue and/or they just don't give a d*m. Next time, I'm going to give my business to EZELLS. At least THEY understand the value of GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Laziest bunch of employees I've ever seen. Store close at 10pm but they won't let you in at 9:40. Service is always slow.

Best fast food fried chicken. "Spicy" is the way to go. The original is greasy without impact. Spicy has grease and flavor! Got the 11 piece chicken and a spicy chicken wrap. The total came up to be around $17. The chicken tastes wonderful when freshly fried. Oils leak out when ripping into crunchy chicken. Really not good for the dieting eater. Unlike other fast food chicken places, the skin remains crispy for a while. (Who likes soggy chicken skin?) The chicken wrap is a nice side eat, but the one I had today was dry. The chicken was tough, but of course, that won't deter me from getting it again. It's good as a fast bite when done right. I will take my chances at the roulette for a good wrap. Customer service has always varied here.. It can be friendly on some days and awful on others. Just expect the typical fast food worker's attitude and concentrate on eating the best fast food fried chicken.

Not only did they get my order wrong (I ordered spicy chicken strips and got regular chicken) but the chicken I did get had a deep fried feather on it and I didn't notice until it was too late and in my mouth. I realize chickens have feathers but you need to check that. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because they made it right by giving me a refund. They initially offered me fresh strips but once you bite into a feather, it kind of puts you off chicken for a bit

~i love good fried chicken! It's so much better than KFC! The chicken here is moist and crispy! The customer service was friendly, fast and fun! Thank you!

I used to think Popeye's was really delicious. After having it again last night, I was reminded of a few things. I really like their batter. They use this corn starch batter I think... it's similar to this fried chicken I've had at this Asian place where it makes the batter super light but so tasty with this taste that leaves a hint of spice and salt and sweetness. Also, at least you can tell their chicken is real chicken. Sizes are normal and nothing like KFC. I like their red beans and rice...but I'd have to try the real thing to really compare. I think it's good, but not great. Same with their jambalaya. I'm not a big fan of that because it just tastes like their red beans and rice. Mehh, I could do without. Their biscuit is good but it's not as soft and buttery and flakey as I'd like. However, their prices are decent priced, like a 2 piece chicken for $3.49 (approx). Not bad. Overall, they always have really nice service when I'm here. Their chicken ranks better than KFC, but I prefer Ezell's over Popeye's any day.

This review is solely for the onion rings, which is the only item I've ever tried here...they are the BEST ever. They have a real batter, not the bread-y type, and a nice peppery kick. Our whole family goes crazy for them. Be sure to ask them to make you fresh ones when you go through the drive-thru. They will have you pull over and wait a few minutes for them to bring them out. Totally worth it to swing by here if you happen to have an onion ring craving!

I love the food but the customer service could be better. I ordered a grilled tender combo with sweet heat sauce and asked her twice to confirm because she was rushing me. When I got my order it wasn't a combo, I got the wrong sauce, and it wasn't grilled it was crispy... So that's 3 things wrong with my order on top of being rushed to order. It's like the only way they can get your order right is if you go inside and eat. The drive through experience is horrible. Cajun food is my favorite so I hope they work on customer service and actually take time to listen to the order instead of being lazy. Other wise I would have gave five stars

The spicy chicken is delicious, crispy crunch and full of flavor, the meat is moist. The chicken is sooooo much better than KFC and Ezell's. Their fries are really good too. Their biscuits are the best I've had, nice and buttery. With deals, the prices are spectacular. The gravy for the mashed potatoes taste like beans, it's mediocre. Mac and Cheese is pretty good. But overall, Mmmm Popeyes.

This is by far the worst Popeyes I have ever been to. Made the mistake of taking my family to this branch through the drive through and ordered the following: Fish and Shrimp Dinner with large Cajun Fries Po'Boy Shrimp Sandwich 4 PC Chicken Meal with Onion Rings The person that took the order was extremely rude and came across as someone who did not want to work there. Even though I asked for Spicy chicken four times, she still gave me Mild. This was the least of my worries. When we got home, we found out that we never got the Fish and a shrimp dinner. Furthermore, the shrimp in the Po'Boy sandwich had this horrible smell as if they were fried in old oil. The Cajun fries were really old and we're cold out of the box. Needless to say, I will not be eating good here again. This beach has ruined the Popeyes name for me.

they seem to have too many employees, none of them know what the others are doing. the result is mass confusion, workers bouncing off one another, orders taking forever and just a general feeling of chaos. although the chicken is good, standing around for twenty minutes and complaining while they cook more chicken is not our idea of pleasant dining experience. it's crazy

Hate this place. Their customer service is horrible...at least through the drive-thru. Both times I went I pulled up to the window after ordering and the woman wouldn't make eye contact (she was too busy playing on her phone). She just held her hand out for my money. When giving me my order she still wouldn't look at me. She was to busy chatting with her coworkers to even bother turning completely around. No thank you. No come again. No smile. Nothing. Sorry, Popeyes but your food isn't that good to put up with that kind of attitude. I'd much rather spend my money at Long John Silver's

What a ghetto hole! I ordered a chicken strip meal and they were out of bbq sauce. How does a place that serves fried chicken run out of bbq sauce? I settled for buffalo sauce but when I returned to work with my drive-thru order I had marti-gras mustard? Dafuq? I didn't even get the sauce I didn't want! The girl at the window filled my drink cup past the top with ice, hammered the ice down with the scooper, then added more ice. I probably had about 3oz of actual beverage, but it was really cold! Combined with the dry chicken strips and rock hard biscuit, most of my lunch ended up in the garbage.

First let me say that I've been a big fan of Popeye's since my days in New Orleans back in he 80's, and try to stop by the store in Renton when I'm in the neighborhood since I live up north of Seattle. That being said, I will probably pass the next time around, or go somewhere else if the quality of the food and service doesn't improve. 1) their dining room was closed with no explanation or apology given, 2) I went back twice and had to stand at the drive-thru to get what asked for, just the basics, forks, butter and honey, and the Sweet Tea(not!) don't know who mixed the tea, but it tasted like the way Yankees think Sweet Tea should taste-Yeeuuuch! and the Bisquit was undercooked and doughy and it appears that I'm not the only one with issues at this location.

Terrible Service @ Drive Thru. Terrible @ Front Register. Waiting times are awful. I literally love Popeyes but....If I have to ever go back to this location, I will never eat a Popeyes for the remainder of my life! For anyone that doesn't believe me....Visit this location!!!!

The worst customer service. Very obvious that not one single employee was happy to be there. Felt like I was inconveniencing him to order. The manager was rude and snappy. The place was a pig stye and the bathroom was a mess with non working soap dispenser And hand dryer.

I moved to Washington for the summer, and I missed my Popeyes in California. I frequented the ones in Eagle Rock, Stockton and Elk Grove. To my surprise, there was one here, albeit a 40 minute drive but I had the boyfriend bring me for my birthday so he could experience my guilty pleasure. We each got a 5 dollar box-- which is a steal of a deal because the food is plentiful. I ordered mild chicken strips and they gave me spicy. I brought my order back, and they kindly FILLED my box FULL of mild chicken! The Mash potatoes are bomb. Love the Creole(?) gravy and the fries are tasty as always. I like the biscuit too, its soft and buttery. We enjoyed the food so much I got another box to take home to refrigerate for later since the location was so far. I'll be back.

The food was good, but the manger Lovell was so rude! Don't got there on Sunday b/c their manager is the opposite of what a good manager should be...but what can you expect from a manger of a fast food chain, you get what you pay for. They messed up my order b/c the manager jumped in taking over the order and after I payed them I realized the mistake. Thinking it would be an easy fix I told them and they were confused and Lovell was visibly angry about the the situation. Over $5. Really? Is it worth all the drama and chucking the food in the trash?! I won't be back to this location b/c it isn't worth it to me. Good food, bad manager. I feel bad for the nice employees that have to work under him, I'd rather make the trip to Burlington for Popeyes.

I honestly feel that any written review over a single star had to be written by either employees of Popeyes or by the corporate office staff. On a positive note the staff was friendly but the restaurant and entry somewhat dirty. I had the 3 piece of dark meat chicken with mashed potatoes and my companion had the 2 piece with onion rings. Speaking of my own meal, the mashed potatoes were okay but cold and the accompanying biscuit did not include either butter or honey which was okay as it was so salty I could not finish it. And now about the chicken...without a doubt the absolute worse chicken I have ever had in my entire life. Not sure where they are getting their chickens from but judging by the pieces we had they must have been very old and frail chickens or perhaps they walked here from Louisiana. The chicken pieces were very small and were encrusted with some kind of batter that tasted rancid and that came off in large pieces. Interestingly enough when the battered concoction fell off the chicken, the chicken itself was yellow and gave the appearance of what one might assume a mummified chicken would look like. Thinking that the batter fell off the chicken as I failed to mention that while we thought we were getting hot from the fryer chicken we were in reality receiving very cold chicken. In the past I have had some excellent cold chicken but this was definitely not and in all probability appeared to have been cooked the previous day either there or the week before in Louisiana. Now about those onion rings....well you read my take on the chicken and as bad as it was the onion rings were definitely comparable. Judging from many of the other reviews my opinion is not a unique one.

Popeye's is my go to chicken joint. Nothing against Ezell's or KFC which are fine too, but Popeye's just tastes better. The spicy chicken here is just the perfect amount of heat without overpowering the fried chicken goodness. The mashed potatoes have creole gravy. Creole gravy pwns regular gravy. All the cajun sides are fantastic. What I don't understand is why anyone would pay the ridiculous prices at Ma'Ono for their over rated fried chicken when you can have the awesomeness that is Popeye's.

  • Franklin C.

These guys must source the chicken somewhere else because I've lived in other cities where popeyes are franchised and very common. Popeyes elsewhere have HUGE pieces of chicken. This place has TINY pieces. I'll upload a picture. The drumstick is the size of my thumb and it's not a big thumb lol. I feel as though corporate would be pretty pissed about this but who knows; popeyes have pretty lax rules it seems. The asian owned ones in california don't take credit and they also make up their own specials...which brings me to another point. This place doesn't run ANY specials it seems. I wish they did the 1.29 two piece special like every other state.

It kills me to write this. The service is great. I have always loved the product. I went there a few days ago and ordered a shrimp po boy for a friend and strips for myself. The strips were cold and soggy. Hopefully just a random miss.

I have recently been to Popeyes on two different occasions. The first time I went there I ordered the 10 piece chicken wings. It was okay, except for the fact that there were pieces of chicken feathers sticking out from the chicken. The next trip a few days later, I felt the staff was disorganized. There was a long line of people waiting for their orders and when they picked up their orders, it was incorrect. I had ordered the spicy chicken tenders to go and when I got home, I was disappointed that my chicken tenders wasn't spicy. The chicken was okay, but felt there was more breading than chicken. The other complaint I have is the staff. I realize this is fast food and most of the workers are going to be young kids, but someone needs to tell these kids they need to be professional and speak proper English and not talk to customers like they speak to their friends. The way they talk makes them looked ignorant.

Recently stopped in and like usual it was very good. I do not have one in my neighborhood so I do not get the chance to often to dine here. I love their breading and the prices are very reasonable. The biscuits seem to have a cult following and the spicy chicken seems to hit home with most people who love it spicy. The interior is nice and clean and the drive thru was hopping. The staff was nice and even during a busy day they kept the wait time very low. I wish I lived closer.

4/17/14: Barf! I ordered, then right away my food was bagged and ready to go. It was not just okay chicken, it was GROSS! It must have been sitting there for awhile, plus it was overcooked! The pieces were small (was that leg from a pigeon?). My wife couldn't eat it. I ate a few pieces just because I spent $ on the food. I had Popeye's chicken before, and it depends on the location. I would NOT recommend the Popeyes near Rainer Ave. Last time I go there! Sad to say, I'd rather go to KFC.

By far the best quick serve fried chicken available. I always get the spicy, the biscuit is FULL of butter and the red beans and rice are legit.

Up front the food is good if you don't mind waiting a very long time to get your food. This is the second time this had happened at this exact popeyes. I order, they send me to the abandoned lot across the way to wait. I wait, and wait and wait, while all others around me waiting get their food. Then finally after about 25 minutes of waiting I have to call them inside and they say we have your food to someone else. Well how is it you have so many employees inside working and you can't get one order (which was very small... fish and onion rings) out to a car? The system is obviously flawed and needs to be fixed.

    (2)
  • Gary F.

Popeye's moist, flavorful chicken brings me back time and time again. Their red beans and rice - man, is that good. And their gravy? It's so nicely seasoned you could almost eat it as a thick soup. The people are nice, the facility nice enough - but the spicy chicken is enough to make the Renton Popeye's a destination restaurant for me - and I live in Kirkland.

I love Popeyes. Of course it's not real Southern food. Fast food will never live up to the real thing. However, the good has always been pretty good at this location. My only complaint is that after about 7pm, the service is pretty slow. I remember waiting 10 minutes in the parking lot for chicken strips before. The employees at night seem to take their jobs less seriously and can be seen fooling around. But, I honestly didn't care. Just give me my food faster. During the day, around 3:00pm, I've had super fast service! The woman working the drive through was wonderful today. So all in all, I've had a pretty good experience at this Popeyes. Delicious chicken and awesome Cajun fries!

Awesome chicken, I will drive the 20 miles to Popeyes instead of the 2 miles to KFC any day of the week. Friendly staff and great food. I miss the Wicked Chicken, which was a promotion in January. That was addictive.

Good fast food fried chicken as compared to Kentucky Fried Chicken, Church's and most grocery store delis. When you arrive at this particular Popeye's and enter through the door on the parking lot side, you find they have about 4 times more space than they need and the heating and ventilation systems are barely keeping up with keeping the place comfortable. You are at a loss at where you are at since you don't even see the food counter from the entrance and must go around to the other side of the "L" to order. I have to admit, this is the absolute worst place to go when you are on a diet or need to cut out the fried foods. If I want fried chicken and don't feel like hunting down Ezell's or the like, I come here. The spicy chicken has crispy outer and hot and juicy inner. Them buttermilk biscuits are the bomb, jambalaya, plus the corn on the cob is good ...hell everything is fast food good and you will need the sugar laden soda to wash all that fat and greasy down your throat. Nothing like it. I try to go once and a while to avoid clogging the arteries too quickly. Tip: get plenty of napkins, some honey for your biscuits and ketchup. One item that I must get to sprinkle on my red beans and rice and chicken is the SPARKLE. It is a small packet of seasoning that is like cajun mix of pepper and salt that enhances the flavor!

While I learned to LOVE Popeyes while living in N.J. I have to say this Renton location uses Substandard sized pieces of chicken in comparison to all the other locations I have been to (many over the past few years) It truly seems as if this location is buying smaller sized chicken pieces to cut costs. Skimpy portion sizes!!! Disappointed to say the least. I noticed another reviewer who commented on this same issue. I hope the corporate office looks into this very real disparity.

  • Tom R.

I think this is the best fast-food fried chicken around. This doesn't include the gourmet fried chicken places that you'll find in West Seattle, but for less than $10 a meal, this is the boss More flavorful than the colonel. Good sides (except the corn, that tastes like, uh, tasteless corn). Great prices. The folks at the Renton location are consistently less polite, with sayings like "is that your signature? looks like you just scribbled some sh*! down...whatever" or "What you say? What you going to do with all that chicken??" but whatever, it's still the best around to satisfy my fried chicken cravings.

  • Alexandrea P.

Lets get down to the skinny of this joint. The chicken tastes great, we all know that. However, those wings and thighs are so dinky, it's no point throwing them in my box. I don't want to pay that money for a tiny wing and maybe a medium thigh. The biscuits are great, just a bit salty, just a little buttery, but only when they are fresh. More often than not, they have run out of something or another, so you have wait. If their prices were better for what you got, and they were well stocked, then it'd be a five star. If you want fatdaddy chicken pieces, go to Church's.

I haven't had Popeye's in years since I moved to the Pacific NW. Even though I had seen this location many times, it wasn't until my pregnancy cravings got to the best of me that my husband decided to succumb to his "healthy eats only" philosophy and give in to the hormonal chick in the car. Since then, we've been several times - because Popeye's knows good fast food chicken and they do it very well. First of all, the service here is always great. The staff is always friendly and I've noticed that they are helpful with each other (training when needed without getting punchy with each other; asking questions when necessary). Sometimes when we order things that have a bit of a wait time, they actually let us know so we're not standing around wondering why out order is taking longer (Try getting that kind of service at McDonald's - you won't.). The food is good. Try the chicken tender or fried chicken meals. Try the shrimp po'boy sandwich. Sample the different sides (the mashed potatoes have a very different peppery flavor given their gravy). I don't know how they do their breading, but it is really good and crispy, and I've noticed that their chicken, while it is fried chicken, isn't as greasy as some of the other places I've been. The coatings are crisp and the chicken underneath is juicy. Yum. Now I'm getting all hungry again. The biscuits here are good too - moist and doughy. You won't find that they turn into flakes the minute you take your first bite (or even just when you pick it up, which seems to happen a lot to me at KFC). I've never had an issue with my order or service. My only gripe is that while the portions are filling, they really aren't very cheap. I'm sorry, but in my mind, fast food is also cheap food. Or maybe I've just been out of the fast food loop for too long. Either way, for two people (and I'm not eating for two, I really mean two people), two combo meals that total $20 seems a little steep for a fast food lunch. But I'll continue to come here when it's convenient and grab a bite on the monthly or so occasion because let's be honest, cravings are cravings!

I saw the commercial for their six piece cajun spicy chicken wings. I always have to try their new item when they do commercials for it. I don't know why they already don't have chicken wings on their menu. I'm sure it would be one of the their best sellers. The only potential drawback for some people is that there's no mild version of the chicken wings. They were very crispy, moist, plenty of kick (w/out being too much) and meaty. I like how they don't have the little two inch miniature wings like everywhere else. They're actually goo...d size. Popeye's has never done me wrong

I'm a big supporter of the Popeyes restaurant chain, there was one back in my home town that I would frequent all the time until it closed, & one at the beach house in Ocean City Maryland---now we go to the Renton location. One thing that is synonymous with Popeyes is that they are slow. "Louisiana Fast", if you will. & that's okay. I know their products are freshly made to order & that shit takes time. I normally order an off the menu item called the "naked snack wrap", & it's always done to order because they don't have grilled kitchen in the ready-made hot holds. I don't mind the wait because this wrap is banging, order it next time you're there. Never go to Popeyes if you're looking for "fast food", your order will usually take between 10-15 minutes to prepare no matter what you order, & if you don't know that by now you aren't a fan of Popeyes. I repeat, don't bitch & whine about how long it takes you to get your order because it's not an issue, that is precisely what they mean by "Louisiana Fast". Their chicken is all hand dipped, hand made, & almost never sitting in the hot hold for more than 10 minutes at a time, they know how long it takes to make & every location I've ever been to has told me the wait time, so there is no assuming on the customers end. Now, this particular location; I went here yesterday (11/7/13) & they were crazy busy in the drive thru & the dining area. My order was 6 pc nugget with large side & a large drink for me, & a shrimp po' boy with onion rings & a regular sweet tea for my girlfriend. I also added a naked snack wrap to the end of the order. I paid & they asked me to pull off to the waiting area because, a'duh, it will take a while to complete the order due to my snack wrap & the such. No problem. Come to find out as I was checking the order that they forgot our drinks & my snack wrap, so I went inside with the receipts to clear it up. There was a small confusion as to where the naked wrap went because they knew to drop it (was part of my wait time quoted) & int he end I got my snack wrap after 2-3minutes & they gave us two free mardi gras cheesecakes for the inconvenience. This is what I'm talking about. They handled the mistake within a few minutes & not only corrected it but went above & beyond with free desserts. Thank you to the staff & the manager who were very rushed but pleasant through the whole experience. This is how a restaurant should run, not 1005 perfect, but always willing to correct a mistake & get you on your way quickly. Thank you Renton location & keep training your employees for success. Love that chicken form Popeyes!

1st time buying 9 piece chicken nuggets for $6.99 got about 4 reg size pieces and the rest where little crumbles WTF. $5 for a cup of mash potato ? Got my order eventually and everything was incomplete. No Sauce, No Ketchup, run out of lid for their drinks...and there's about 10+ workers standing around chit-chating? what the hell...and don't forget the rest room...its discusting. Well never go back. I'd fired the manager their if I were you...they obviously don't know how to manage

I love popeyes. No matter what this place is still bomb. My go to spot since it opened in the late 90s, meaning I been going to it since then.. The chicken is nice and crispy, with a touch of spicy. Oh my, then dipping it with the honey mustard.. Thats is blissful. The biscuits, fries, and mashed potatoes are all good, not gourmet but good. FYI, you get charge for the sauces. Pretty much you know what your going to get with this place. Great chicken, good sides, you may wait a bit, and you have the option to dine in a fast food setting (which is what you make of it). Competing against all the chains, popeyes reigns supreme and could be dollar per pound the best fried chicken value ever.

I don't really have a problem with the food. It's fine and I usually grab lunch here every couple weeks. My problem lies with the service provided by the employees at this location. Simply put...it's "Ratchet". When I go through the drive through I have to repeat my order multiple times and when I finally get it I have to thoroughly check that it's correct. There have been numerous times when they've given me the wrong drink or combo.

I love that chicken from Popeyes. The sides , sweet tea and biscuits are great. Don't skip on the shrimp either. A huge problem with this location is how many times I've been asked to park and wait for my order to be brought out. It happens 3 out of 5 times. Right now for example I've watched my 30 min lunch break disappear while I wait for my food. I'm about to be late and won't even have time to sit down to eat. Just be aware if your pressed for time that you might get screwed.

I've only visited a handful of times in the past two years for the occasional fried-chicken treat but each time the service has been prompt and the staff polite and efficient without the minimum-wage attitude. I even commented on the staffing to a manager last year and called in to their customer-service survey. But the past couple of visits, workers threw in breasts in my two-piece Bonafide meals when I specifically requested dark meat. Will have to keep on top of them next visit.

This the second time I come 30 minutes before they close and they say that they don't have chicken or only have mild. They say that it's because they are closing, but it's really due to them not wanting to clean up the fryer, they are closing down to early. The managers name is lovell. I used to work fast food and I know you work all the way through until closing then you clean up.

So sometimes you just get one of those cravings. You know that type of craving that you know is bad for you? That kind that of craving for something you probably shouldn't crave? I occasionally get that kind of craving for fast food, especially types that I had easy accessibility to when I lived in Arizona but is so difficult to find in Seattle. Well one day I had this crazy craving for Popeye's. Maybe it was a TV commercial, maybe it was my disgust with a recent KFC visit, but I wanted me some popeyes. Well I did a search and found out that this one was the closest to me. I debated whether it was worth driving the 20 minutes for and decided yes! The service here was pretty good. The chicken was just as juicy and spicy as I thought. The biscuits were fluffy and buttery. I was quite happy that this Popeye's was a quality one or else I'd probably still have my craving. Yum!

I confess that we ate here this past Sunday (just to "tide us over" until brunch). I also confess that I actually enjoyed/wolfed down the crispy-skin chicken and their mashed potatoes and gravy too. I opted for the original recipe and JP chose spicy. He was peeved that they were out of hot sauce on this day. They gave him a couple extra wings and three extra biscuits to smooth his ruffled feathers. It worked!

Popeye's chicken is the shiznit! The service at this location is strange. I usually just go through the drive through and occasionally, they make you pull into the parking lot while they get your order ready and then someone runs outside with it, which I think is odd. Sometimes they ask you if you would like some sweet tea, but they don't just ask, they scream. This woman screamed "would you like to buy some SWEEEEEEEETTTTTTT TEEEEAAAAAAAA!?!?!". It freaked me out. The chicken and biscuits are delish. Fast food. Comfort food. You can't beat that.

We returned in March when we - again - were up for SakuraCon. The entire staff greeting us with a boisterous "Welcome to Popeye's!" when we approached the counter. The food - amazing chicken just as before. The Mardi Gras Cheesecake wasn't bad for boxed, fast food cheesecake, either. I even complimented their manager before we left. She said they usually aren't that polite, but I let her know that we appreciated it, and to let her crew know. It's only fast food, but they've been awesome both visits (and a year apart is saying something).

Ordered 30 spicy strips and got 25 they forgot the dipping sauces and we were missing 2 other sides. Ezels is definitely the way to go. We will not order from here again. The only plus was the buiscuts were really good. If you eat here you better check your order before you leave.

One of my favorite national fried chicken places. I've always been a fan of Cajun flavors and food. We ordered the 2 piece combo and I had a scrimp(shrimp) po-boy. Chicken: chicken was a golden brown, with breading not too much, but just enough, meat was plentyful for the size of the meal. The biscuit, in my opinion, was the star of the combo meal. Its one of the best biscuits I've had from a national chain. Scrimp po boy - now I havent been to Naw Lens (new Orleans) but, I can only imagine what a shrimp po boy would taste like. The was a bunch of deep fried, breaded shrimp on a hoagie roll with a little lettuce and some kind of sauce. Not bad, but then again, I'm a shrimp po boy virgin. I was satisfied after eating this sandwich. A little greasy, but it is deep fried. Location: this place is ghetto, but hey, you're not here for the area, youre here to eat. I think the building was a Burger King before, and the new owners of Popeyes bought it up and set up shop. The inside is pretty big, ample space to pick a place to eat. Usually I just get orders to go and eat in the comfort of my own home.

I generally hate fast food. Outside of an occasional In-n-Out burger about twice a year, I stray far, far away from these greasy, overpopulated chains. Popeye's Chicken & Biscuits is a WHOLE 'nother story. They come up with the most eye-catching, irresistible deals (like the occasional 2 pieces for 99 cents Tuesdays, and buy one get one free combo meals). Unfortunately, I have absolutely NO sense of direction and this particular branch is off of an island between three busy streets, and I always veer off into the wrong direction and then the store mysteriously disappears from the radar. But that is my own, sad, sad, issue. Moving on! I tend to order whatever is the deal of the moment, 'cuz I'm too cheap to pay full price for anything, anywhere. This time, it was 2 pieces for 3.29 (which included a nice steamy butter biscuit). Hot! Dang! Deeee-licious finger lickin' goodness in a box. I always get my chicken to-go, mostly to spare the general public from having to see a starving asian chick stuffing her face with fried goodness. It gets in the hair, the fingernails, not a pretty sight.

Pretty good fried chicken for fast food. Eat Popeye's in Louisianna and it's a completely different experience. None the less, the food is good, and worth it if you're in Renton for a quick bite.

Had a fried chicken craving Saturday night, KFC sucks, Ezells has crappy mashed potatoes (essential for fried chicken dinner) and QFC just won't do. So looks like it was a trip to Renton Popeye's. After my last visits order SNAFU. It was time to actually get my lazy ass out of the car and order from in the store. I must say the customer service here sucks. I know it's a Popeyes, but when you hear people in the back saying things like "Ay yo, who's going to take this guy's order?!?" "He doesn't even look like he's ready to order yet". Meanwhile the guy standing there they are talking about the whole time can hear them. Myself waiting for my order for already like 15 minutes and staring at this bag of food behind the cashier that I know is my order then 5 minutes later someone asking "hey who's bag is this?!?" "I think it's that guy's he looks pretty hungry". Myself trying to be very patient and not say "No Shit! give my God damn fried chicken already!!!!". Ah well at least I didn't go home with shitty white meat this time (I checked to make sure). They did get my order right the first time. And well their fried chicken, mac n'cheese, biscuits, and mashed potatoes are all delicious. Pass on their "new" chicken nuggets though, it's not really THAT good. I will be back for my next heart attack. ~G

I visited this place a couple months ago for the first time and I'm an instant fan! First of all it's a spacious dining room with plenty of seating, and the staff are helpful and friendly. The chicken has flavorful crunchy skin and the meat is tender and juicy. I would have to say the crunch of the skin is a hard kind of crispy, as opposed to a light kind of crispy; still wonderfully delicious. I rounded my meal out with a warm fluffy biscuit and some mac 'n cheese........perfect! I'm so bummed that I live about 60 miles away from Renton and this awesome chicken. I'm sure I can manage a trip out there again soon.

I've only been to this place twice, but every time I go the food is good. Went through the drive through with the kids, lady was nice and so was the guy helping. Lil pricey but the food is good. The fish was good and the kids scarfed theirs down. Onion rings were really good, they were spicey, 4 stars though for the core of the onion ring as one to serve, it was just one but it was a chunky one and nasty I don't love onions that much to even try to eat that.

Oh dear. Did I honestly just pay $46 for a "fried turkey" that turned out to be a complete dud? I'm not much of a chef but I'm pretty sure I could have saved a lot of money AND made a turkey just as good (if not better). This review deserves a breakdown. My genius brother had the idea that I should drop $46 for a "fried turkey" at Popeye's. I went along with it ONLY because I secretly thought the turkey would be epic (since the fried chicken are). After paying the biggest bill I've ever had to pay for at a fast food joint, the cashier handed me the turkey. It's 10-12 lb. And the turkey is freaking FLAT. Me: "What happened to the turkey? It's flat." Cashier: "...I dunno." Me: "No really, what happened to the rib cage?" Cashier: "...I dunno." Me: "Umm...ok, I guess. Does it come with a side dish and biscuits?" (I saw an advertisement that it does) Cashier: "Yeah, you can get a gallon of a side dish and 12 biscuits ...but the cost would be $75 total" Me: "That's almost $30 more. For mashed potatoes and biscuits?" Cashier: "Yeah." Unbelievable. First they give me a turkey with a depressed rib cage and now they want to charge me more money for a side dish. I decided to keep the turkey and walk away. Thanksgiving came around and I went to bake the turkey (which just needs to be heated up for 90 mins). First of all. THE TURKEY IS NOT FRIED-FRIED. I mean...it was fried before it was roasted at Popeye's, but when you look at the turkey, it doesn't look fried. It just looks like a normal...baked turkey. But flat. Taste-wise, it was nothing out of the ordinary. A cajun spice rub was used. The skin is flavorful but the meat wasn't. Most of the guests didn't even realize that it was suppose to be a "fried" turkey. Long review short, avoid the turkey. Get the chicken.

I do love me some crispy, spicy, juicy chicken! I just finished off a two piece meal and I must say, that chicken is well cooked! The spicy version had a nice tang that bit my tongue with every bite. I also recently had the catfish and it was moist and tender as well. What really set me off was the mashed potatoes and gravy! That is one delicious side dish! Beats the hell out of KFC's whipped air version. The biscuit is OK, a bit dense but alright. What isn't to like? Salt. Way too much salt in their breading. I can't get enough water in me right now. Cut back on the salt and I'll gladly add a star.

Like Little Nicky said, "Popeyes' chicken is f**king awesome!" Well not F'n but pretty damn awesome... I frequent this Popeyes' the most because the other locales are just too deep to venture to.(fed-town being the next nearest location). The chicken and biscuits, and oooh the shrimp snacker are the must have items I get every time... They have specials all the time on the chicken so its kinda hard to be disappointed. Speaking on disappointment, if you go to the drive thru. they tend to run out of chicken. WHY?? I don't have the slightest clue. Eating in I never encountered this issue. Ooh damn well as long as I'm served with fresh hot goodness I'm all good. Patience people! Other than the chicken, biscuits, and shrimp snacker. I also recommend getting the delta sauce and honey to accompany the heart attack meal. You'll forget about the slow drive thru service. Chase it all down with the sweet tea if you can stomach the liquid diabetes too. *wrote this outside of Popeyes', eating chicken and fries!
