This place is great. It was only our first time here so you never know how it's gonna be at other times. But for our first visit it was great. We ordered a Caesar salad to start with a side of garlic bread. The lettuce was fresh and crisp. The dressing was perfect. And the croutons seem to be homemade and good. The garlic bread was different and very tasty. We ordered a pizza as well. Sausage, mushroom and bell peppers. DAMN! It was good! =] ...and the cheese on top was slightly burned which i love when it's like that on a pizza. The sauce was well balanced. As for the service... Very friendly and at attention. Smiles all around and quick. There seemed to be a few regulars dining as well considering some were on a first name basis with the staff. Which to me says this place is good. So to the first timers... Give it a try. We weren't disappointed at all. Enjoy!

Have been coming to Spartas for years and the salads are so delicious and food is awesome. Friendly staff

Great service, excellent choice of beers. Amazing pizza. Although pricey it is worth it. Beautiful and friendly waitress's to boot. Very broad choices beyond pizza.

I am going with the Rating description Yelp uses for 2 Stars, "Meh. I've experienced better." and to skew down because I don't think this restaurant warrants the rating it has. It wasn't terrible, but every other Greek-Italian Pizza & Pasta House I have been to has been better. I found their Menu very limiting. There are absolutely no Appetizers and nothing shareable at all, except for Pizza. Even their Garlic Bread and Cheesy Bread come with only one slice of bread. No, not half a loaf. A slice of Bread, which looks strangely like the slices in the Frozen boxes. The Pizza was decent, but like I said, the worst of any Greek -Italian Restaurants I have eaten at. Their unique point, I suppose, is that they use Danish Mozzarella, but they never explained why that is significant, either on their menu, on any displays or signs, nor by the waitress.

  • Matt B.

I'm frequent and long time customer of Sparta's, because their pizza is fantastic! If your looking for something a little different, the use of Danish Mozzarella might just be what your looking for. Definitely gives traditional Mozzarella a run for it's money! Pizza is a little pricey, but they do offer a coupon online for $3.00 a large! The only things keeping me from giving that 5th star, is I didn't care for their Italian dressing, cheese bread and Marinara dipping sauce. The Italian dressing is like pure olive oil with some spices thrown in. That might be the traditional ingredients for Italian dressing, but it's a no go for me. As far as the bread and marinara, their both just flavorless and boring. I would love if they offered delivery, but as of now you'll have to go and get it! Overall, their pizza is delicious, and their customer service is great!

Wonderful Greek/pan style pizza! Some of the best I have ever had. The price is absolutely worth it.

Spartas is so amazing. I've been coming here for years and not once have I ever left dissatisfied. Very high quality ingredients. Pizzas are sooooooo good. Deep dish style, toppings are below the cheese... And. The. CHEESE. Omg their cheese is magnificent. Same with the house salads. And the lasagna. And the chicken parmesan. If you are looking for a good, home style, Italian place for dinner, look no further than Spartas.

Wasn't bad but it wasn't anything that stood out either. The place is a bit small and cozy. Was with a party of about 8 and the reservation was made but we showed up and still had to wait for our table to be "put together" ha ha. You should have that ready atleast 15 mins before a reso gets there. Again wasn't bad but just didn't stand out as anything special to me.

The best Greek salad that I have ever had. The salad that I shall compare to all others. The service is excellent. Very attentive. The restaurant was very clean. A must if ever in the Pacific Northwest .

This place has.. DELICIOUS pizza!!! Once upon a time in my single days... I had the worst date ever. . What started off half way awkward turned into an awful stalker Ish night. The only good thing about the date..was the pizza!! Which the left overs were left in my fridge. After I gently let him down that it was "never going to happen for us" and to kindly please never contact me again..he responded with "I should've kept the pizza!" Yes... yes you should have ;) lol!!!

I am so thrilled to say I loved dinning at this restaurant and it's overall experience! The staff sat us right away, gave our refreshments, brought all items promptly. The Alfredo pasta with chicken had just the right amount of serving to fill me up, the spaghetti was just magnificent!, and the sauce was not too much, but just right. I was so impressed! Definitely would spend another lovely evening with my family there. The family atmosphere was so great and heartwarming, and smiled big because they placed my younger cousins drawing on the wall with the other children's creations. Just perfect! :) Still smiling from the experience!

Best baked fettuccine Alfredo... Its so good you have to ask for the pasta baked.. Good service one of my favorite places to go when up here from Arizona..

I ordered the Ravioli and the sauce tasted awful. It had a bitter taste. After two bites I could not eat anymore. I spoke to the server and she asked me if I wanted to order anything else, I declined. The server refused to take my dinner off the check. She informed me that they use cinnamon in their sauce and I must not like cinnamon. I informed her that was not the case. I still had to pay for this dinner that I took two bites of. I will not return.

I really liked the Pizza and salad here but I did not like any of their pastas. The pizzas are heavy and have a lot of toppings so if you are expecting a thin crust, this is not the place for you. If you like deep dish/Pan style pizzas and classic american/italian cuisine (giant meatballs, big heaping mounds of salad and pasta), this place is for you. Overall, I do really like the pizza and salad.

I love, love, love this place! I went there for pizza and walked away with PIZZA!!! Toppings under the cheese sunds ordinary. It's what they do with the cheese that elevates it to an amazing pie. What they do is cook it until it's carmalized and crispy. Their ingredients are great and every time I go there I'm greeted by name and am assured to have a great meal!

Spartas has become our "Go To" Pasta Restaurant. The things we Love here are: Their Home made Delicious Tomato sauce! The Tiramisu! The PASTA! The service. The price. Granted, this is not a fancy, impress your Date/out of town Guests Restaurant with Sexy Ambiance and Linen tablecloths but I/We aren't about the show. We Love good food, good service and fair price. Spartas has just that! And just to be clear, the place is always clean and comfortable!

The absolute GREATEST pizza on the planet! This is what I would eat for my last meal on earth. So thick, so cheesy, so packed with toppings, so perfect. All the food is really good. Spaghetti is delicious, salads are delicious( and I"m not a salad fan). Wish I could eat here every day and wish they delivered...

I'm still in the restaurant but I had the need to write this review. I have been waiting a painfully long amount of time for a simple large pizza and lasagna. The only reason I give this place three stars is because of the quality of the food. Also they could use some landscape work done.....

This is my favorite place for Pasta. The pizza is great as well. The lunch menu has slightly smaller portions for a reduced price on many items until 4pm.

Tried Sparta's Pizza the other evening after hearing recommendations from a few friends who claim to be long-time customers. Sarah was our waitress and she was wonderful. Sarah recommended something that my meat-lover husband could enjoy and a compromise for myself since I am not a fan of tomato sauce. These pizzas come with lots of cheese, and you don't have to specify "extra cheese". I can easily see why so many of my friends have been dining here for years. Interestingly, when I mentioned who my recommendations had come from the waitress immediately knew who I was talking about. To me, this came across as an indicator of a great business model - employees actually know their customers and what they order.

A friend recommended this place and we yelped as well. So glad we went here. Service was great even while we waited for a table they made sure to check in on us and update us on wait time. Ordered the specialty pizza and their version of a Hawaiian pizza. So good and so cheesy!! Sauce was great not to spicy or sweet. We also ordered garlic bread and a salad. Yum!! Price was reasonable for the quality of food your gettin. Don't expect Pizza Hut prices though. To finish the night we had their homemade tiramisu and it was excellent. My spouse doesn't care for it usually but he ranted and raved. Got a take home menu and that should tell you something. Recommending!!

Came here a handful of months ago... Service was decent, food was pretty good. Unfortunately wait time for food/water refills was rather lengthy, despite several waiters going round. Feel the price was a little higher than quality, however overall "okay." I would not choose to return, however wouldn't complain if others wanted to go.

Great pasta! But horrible service! Went there to eat dinner with my mom last Sunday night and the service we received from the waitress was horrible. She forgot about my mom's bread, she had told us it was in the oven and as soon as it's out she'd bring it right out. Well, 20min later, my mom had finished her entire meal and still no bread! I gave her mine while i looked around to find our waitress. She was nowhere to be found! 10min later i had to raise my hand to have her check on us because she hadnt all night, i told her my mom still hadn't gotten her bread yet. She said oh!.. Ok..sorry.. And she came back with it. Maybe a better apology would have been better. Then as i am still eating my dinner and i have a piece of bread in one hand and my fork full of food on the other, the waitress comes and says, do you want me to take it and wrap it up for you? I said no thanks im still eating, i will be done soon though. (Thinking they're about to close)then i look at the time and it was barely 7pm... Then she took for ever to bring out the separate order i had asked for to go. And since i had asked to have that to go order on a separate check, my mom paid with her card on the order we ate. I paid my to go order in cash, my order came to $18 and i left a $20 bill. We got up and started walking towards the door to leave when the waitress stops me, and says uh did i get a paymeny for the to go order??. I tod her it's on the table, and she went for it and said oh ok!. ...really? We got No apologies from her for everything she did that night, no custumer service skills at all whatsoever! As i left the place i started to regret leaving any change and telling my mom to leave her a tip. If i ever go back to this place, it'd be to take it to go. Would not want to go through this service again.

We had one of our Granddaughters with us and decided to go to Amante Pizza - but they were closed so we changed to Sparta's - a good choice. We had a great pizza and the service was good. If we are in the area again, we will be back.

This place is now our go to when we are craving pizza beyond the basic and we went back and tried the pasta and both were impressed. My boyfriend with the Fettuccini Alfredo and I got the Tortellini and substituted with a Pesto sauce, I love Pesto and this was one of my favorites, not oily at all! The salads were simple, but fresh and great dressing. No complaints here!

  • Chris F.

Service was slow. 15 minutes to be greeted with two young ones under 7 is too long. When we were finally greeted it was basically "Thanks for waiting what can I get for you?" Uh ok? Specials? Maybe a simple hello hows everyone doing? I don't know it was off putting and insincere. In the servers defense she seemed stretched and weeded in her section, but there was a legion of support staff that were on top of everything else so I'm not sure what was going on. As far as the food goes besides the minestrone soup the flavors were just not there. My wife got the spaghetti with marinara and I got the manicotti and both were swimming in a "just ok" sauce. Prices weren't high but I still felt ripped off.

Tried this place for the first time yesterday. I had the spicy pepperoni & sliced meatball personal pan pizza and a house salad with feta dressing ( Made in house) ...all amazing. Best pizza I have had in recent memory. I will be back very soon .

Inedible food, poor service, and unclean. The only thing I enjoyed was the draft beer that they did not make. The "salad" was simply iceberg lettuce drowning in a watery dressing. The "Eggplant Parmesan" baked spaghetti was terrible. Two bites - a second only because I needed a to confirm it was as bad as I thought. My wife and I share our food. Without any input from me, she took one bit and simply shook her head and said, "No". Another review said the same thing my wife told me last night - there is some kind of unusual spice (like burnt curry or something) they put in the sauce. Just bad, bad, bad. My wife's pizza was unlike any pizza we've ever had - and not in a good way. There is not enough dunking sauce in the world to make this taste good. Since we did not eat much, the leftovers made it into containers and in our car, then promptly straight to the trash. What a waste. I don't recall ever being so disappointed in a restaurant. I've been here at least twice before because the birthday guest of honor likes this place. The only thing I remembered about Sparta's was that I didn't recall enjoying it previously. This time the experience will stick with me and I'll never eat here again. Yelp needs to add a "negative stars" feature as one star is too high a rating. It is a complete mystery to me why others have rated Sparta's fairly high. After repeat visits and never an tasty dish, I just don't get it. I love Italian food - who doesn't? But this place? Awful!

This place is a little run down and dark/dingy on the inside but the friendly service more than made up for it. It's run a little bit like a diner but with pizza, Greek food, and pasta. I came here with a friend and we ordered lunch specials that came with a personal pizza and soup or salad. I had the minestrone with an artichoke & olive pizza while my friend had a sausage pizza with a salad. The soup was pretty good - but the salad looked much better. It looked super fresh and crunchy, I wish I had ordered that in hindsight. The pizzas were pretty small but were just enough food for me. They were a little well done and the crust was pretty thick but they were good nonetheless. I had to pay extra for the artichokes but they definitely didn't skimp on them so I guess it was worth it. Around $10-ish for the soup and pizza...not too shabby. This place was definitely tasty...but the atmosphere really detracted from the experience. I'd maybe try the pasta next time.

This place never gets old. I've been going here for 15 years and I hope to get 15 more. Just went again last night ... tried a pizza topping combination I hadn't had (sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms) that was delicious, and a serving of their ricotta ravioli in meat sauce. Yum! But really, everything there is great. The lasagna, the sandwiches ... lunch, dinner, whatever you want. You can go wrong with their hearty, Italian goodness. P.S. The ranch dressing is possibly the best ranch in the universe.

Pizza is so good and the customer service was spectacular and welcoming. The workers seemed to know everyone that came in and even though it was our 1st time, they made us feel at home. Pizza was filling and hearty but felt very light and non-greasy. The crust was crispy and buttery. Awesome! We will be back!

Sparta's... This. is. PIZZAAAAAA!!!! It's decent pizza. I'd heard a lot about this place and it says something about being the best pizza in the Universe or world. It's good pizza. It wasn't amazing, but it was def nothing to complain about and I'd go back for more. Good service, no problems, no reason to not visit if in the area.

BY FAR the BEST Pizza in Lynnwood, Edmonds, MLT or anywhere else in this area, PERIOD. Sparta's Special is unbeatable in taste, add pineapple and it's over the top. A little spendy but you get what you pay for. I ONLY buy the Pizza, so I have no clue about the other items.

Food was great, but our server an older lady was not so friendly with us. I noticed that she was having a nice friendly conversation with the other table ,serving them quickly, asking them if they wanted anything, but with us the complete opposite, she hardly would speak to us. My kids asked for a drink and she didn't bring it,I would have bought another beer but she was so cold with us that I changed my mind. Maybe we were a little to tan for her liking, just got that feeling that we were not that welcomed by her! The hostess and every one else were nice except that Ole battle-axe of a waitress,I wonder how other minoritis are treated there by her! Everyone should be treated the same if you're spending your hard earned money, and choosing this place over other Italian food, guess I'll spend my money elsewhere, since we are not welcome here!!

Food is good. Good pizza, a little bit different from other places...maybe it's the cheese? Anyways, I don't care too much for the small dining room and chairs so I usually order for pick up.

My mom and I are regulars here. Talk about a quality family owned Italian restaurant. The pizza is nothing short of to die for. And don't even get me started on the house salads... Sooooo good. The lettuce is always fresh and there is the perfect amount of cheese and black olives on top. If you don't want pizza i would suggest the lasagna, it's the best. Always perfectly baked. MAJOR YUM

One of my new favorite pizza place! My friend Jessa recommend this place. 9 of my friend and I came here for the first time for my bf Birthday dinner. We had a great time here :) This is a small mom and pop kinda place. We had to wait about 25 mins to be seated but that because there were a party of 10 before us. We order 3 large pizzas. Number 10, 15 and 36. They all tasted delicious!! My fav out of the three was number 36 (garlic chicken, onion, mushroom, and Alfredo sauce). This is my ideal pizza. perfect balance of flavors. The cheese just ooze in your mouth. The outer layer was nice and crispy. I will definitely come again! I'll try other foods and order pizza number 3. :) If you like excellent pizza this is the place. They have over 36 choice s plus u can create your own! The pizza can be a Little on the pr icy side compare to other pizza places but its worth it!

My wife and I had business with our bikes in Lynnwood, and so since we were to spend some time there, we decided to walk to this nearby located Restaurant and didn't regret this at all. Okay, and this beforehand, I'm blond by birth *SMILE, can someone explain to me, why a Italian restaurant serve a Greek salad? Anyway, their food caught me big time, beside this Greek Italian oxymoron. I ordered with the the half and half, meaning one half Ravioli, meet Ravioli, so that is an absolute rarity and I love this restaurant for it. (I love my country, the US of A, but still don't understand why we are to have our Raviolis cheese filled? The original isn't, so I think we are loosing out big time) The other half spaghetti and meat sauce. So apart from being al dente, the spaghetti and Ravioli been extra delicious, the sauce? Home made from scratch, at least it tasted like it, in which you can tell this sauce simmered for hours to have this deep insightful flavor. My wife had a sandwich and was happy with what she had ordered. Service was nice, yet it felt in times, other things been of more and higher importance, so it took a while for the waitress to realize, we've been ready to pay our check!! yet only two tables been occupied, so it wasn't the demand, that's for sure. This is also the reason for the 4 stars, else it would deserve a 5th star with me. Can't wait for the next service halt we will have in the neighborhood, so I can enjoy my meat Ravioli again!!

Sparta's Pizza and Spaghetti House has locations in Lynnwood and Bothel, Washington, and the one in Lynnwood boldly claims to offer the "Best Pizza in the Universe." I am not sure we even have enough scientific evidence to test such a proclamation, but I did enjoy their pizza. Sparta's pizza looked different than any I can remember as its perfectly cooked cheese - placed above the toppings - and thin pan-type crust gave the entire pizza a beautiful golden brown appearance. Hiding underneath this golden exterior lurked incredibly flavorful sauce that oozes out with most bites. Large pieces of salami, pepperoni, and Canadian bacon also packed a flavor punch underneath the cheese. While I cannot say Sparta's Pizza and Spaghetti House has the "Best Pizza in the Universe", I can say that I will never even think to try another pizza place if I find myself back in Lynnwood or Bothel because it was that good. Therefore, I will bestow upon them the title of "The Pizza Fan's Favorite Pizza on the North Side of Seattle," even if it is not quite as dramatic of a title.

Met some long time friends at Sparta's while in the NW because we have known the managers for years and enjoyed the restaurant when we lived in the NW - especially for kids sports banquets!! The friends that joined us for dinner said it's at least a monthly visit - that's a great endorsement. We arrived late and the service was impeccable for being the last ones in the establishment. Had a great visit the manager catching up on old times and then totally demolished the pizza! The crust at Sparta's is so good - flaky & buttery. We had Canadian bacon, mushroom, and jalapeno. Very tasty. If I had a critique - there were no low fat options for salad dressing. My son, now living in the NW, will definitely be returning for more pizza!

Amazing food, great service. This is my favorite Italian place in the area, so much that I drive over an hour to get there. The pasta is cooked perfectly and has just the right amount of sauce. The pizzas are piled high with great toppings and smothered in cheesy goodness. I'm constantly amazed by their simple side salads! Its just iceberg lettuce, cheese and olives, but they somehow get the right balance of crunch and flavor. Plus, their dressings are good enough to bottle and sell. Ooh, and the garlic bread is amazing. Go there! You won't be disappointed!

Did not disappoint! I could tell by the smells when I walked in, the food would be good. It was better than that, it was awesome! Service was slow at first, but it was understandable as she was slammed. As a traveler I understand patience. Once the majority of people left, she was very attentive. Can't wait to be back in the area to try a different dish.

We come here about every 2 or 3 months and the pizza is always good. The crust, sauce and cheese are consistently good and the salads rock. Not sure about the pastas, but for a pizza joint it is probably one of the best is Snohomish County.

I've been here a couple of times and for what it is, I really like it. The service has always been friendly, prompt and kind. I had the eggplant parmesan the first time I ate here and it was quite good. During my recent visit I had the tricolor tortellini with tomato sauce and it too was good. Portions are large and the garlic bread is even larger. It looks like the round you would get from cutting down a tree. Really interesting. The salad that comes with the entrees are really yummy as well. In all, a great family place.

  • Steve B.

What can I say? This place is completely average in every way. Average food, average service, average decor. The food is somewhat overpriced (by $1-2 per entree) for what it is. If you live close by, Sparta's serves its purpose. If not... try elsewhere in my opinion.

On 10-11-13 My family has lived in Lynnwood for over 30 yrs and have on and off thru the yrs. Aafter last experience, NEVER AGAIN. First we usually call in order to go. I call not even during rush hour. A gentelman answered I said I would like to place and order, voice on other end, heavy sigh what is it you want? I said you know it sounds like your having a bad day, he says what do you want?.I say well can I talk to a mgr or someone to help me? He states I am the owner..I said I was going to order to go. But, with out the courtesy you expect from an OWNER no less. Whom never said. what can we order for you? He hangs up? I think that must be a disgruntled employee acting as owner,.I drive down there and ask for the owner tell him of the rude service by employee he says Yep that was me. Again, a customer who drove all the way down there after he tells me it was him. Never once did he say, Im sorry it's a bad day, what can we do? HE just stood there. Service and food is not what it used to be, Owner must be overwhelmed or tired of the resturant. I now understand why the parking lot is empty most of the time. If you want a good experience, I would go elsewhere. M.S. Lynnwood, WA

Decent pizza, and way too much hype are how I would describe Sparta's. The pizza is good, but I didn't think it justified all the hype about it in the area. Service was alright, but I got the impression our server always had some place else to be, and our meal felt rushed.

Great. ok. all i have had here is the pizza and greek salad but is definitely one of the top 5 best pizza pies i have had in my entire life. its a little family owned business with two locations. the service is always great and the pizza is awesome. go try it and i guarentee you will enjoy it. awesome

I love local restaurants with great food and service and Sparta's has both. I had a pizza which had perfect crust, dynamite cheese and yummy meatballs. Others in my party had the lasagna and spaghetti. It was all fantastic. Our server was witty and on top of beverage refills which is big for me. Yeah the salad was pretty much all iceberg in the lettuce department but the ranch more than made up for that. When I come back up to visit family I will go out of my way to make sure I come back and try something else.

I can tell that the staffs at sparta's working hard to improve their service and whatever they were lack of. They used to have bad customer service while the food is pretty good back then. I love their danish cheese on pizza and baked pasta. I tried to find danish cheese everywhere and it was a bit hard to find.. So then I'd have to go back to sparta's again. I've been going back a few times and I could tell that they were getting better overall. Pizza's always good and the meat sauce pasta is my second favorite here. I still am a bit iffy about the cream pasta (it was very blend) so I never ordered again. Also I don't dine in here, only to go. They started daily deals so it's good to check out before you go here.

I used to frequent this place, but haven't been in awhile, not sure why. Its a nice place, with a variety of menu items and has above average italian fare. I did much enjoy my greek salad today, lots of kalamata olives and pepperoncinis. Plus I am always a fan of those side salads with all the black olives. My boyfriend enjoyed his dish, but agrees its not diet food as it is dripping with cheese and grease, but this did make it tasty. Garlic bread pieces are also huge. I could have used a refill on my water a bit faster, but it was a bit busy. I was also tempted to try a pizza, but prices seemed kind of high and I couldn't justify getting a pizza just for myself. I believe you can still get a coupon for this place in the entertainment book, but I neglected to bring mine with me. I'll have to look and consider going again.

I'm a bit surprised by some of the low ratings. Sparta's pizza is unusually good, one of the top 5 in the area in my opinion. They have mastered crust making to an art. However, I find the non pizza dishes there to be unsatisfactory. Stick with the pizza and you won't be disappointed. The atmosphere is homey and inviting.

I would give this place more than 5 stars but this is the highest it goes. I've never had better pizza (though Georgio's in Everett is a close second). The pizza is cooked to perfection and LOADED with toppings and cheese. All you need to do is lift one of their large pizzas and any competitiors and the weight difference alone tells the story. This is a pizza PIE folks! Loaded and delicious. I always order more than I can eat, take the rest home, freeze individual slices and reheat (oven, not microwave) whenever I get a craving for pizza. It reheats beautifully. Their salads are fresh and crisp too and blue cheese dressing is delicious (don't forget the humongous garlic bread). If you've never been to Sparta's it's time to treat yourself.

Their pizzas are one of the best I've had! The service is super friendly, and there's a good family kind of vibe. The biggest downsides are that the food takes forever and very expensive pizza.

The pizza burned my lip (blister bad), service was unfriendly. I will not be back. The server neglected to let me know that what I was ordering was on special and that it would of came with salad or soup for the same price. Disappointing.

Well, all summer I heard about how great Sparta's was from a co-worker, and I had never eaten there, although I could have, I've driven by it a million times, and had no discernable reason for not having eaten there, so this evening I found myself rather hungry, not wanting to snack on left-overs, and really not sure of what it was I wanted, so after exhausting the delivery choices(which SUCK) in the Mukilteo/Lynnwood area, I decided to take a chance on Sparta's Chicken Parmesan. picked it up, got it home, opened it up, and at first glance, I was happy to find everything Hot, but that faded quickly when I began to eat it. The chicken was rubbery, the whole thing was overcooked, you know, the cheese has gone from that golden color with the occasional brown bubble to roadkill, the sauce was likewise burnt, the spaghetti that came with it had some kind of sauce on it that was flat and tasteless, the best part of it was the salad. Seriously Dissappointed.

I've gone to Sparta's from time to time since I was a teenager. It's known to be one of the best pizza places around and they have been in business for many years. It is thick Greek style pizza, with the meat under the cheese. I don't know what it is about their cheese, but I love it. It is crispy on top and soft and chewy in the middle. The wait staff is always friendly. I have also had some of their entrees, and they are always fresh, filling and cheesy. Wether it is pizza, lasagna or fettuccine, I have never been disappointed. I just went to Sparta last night after a dry spell and I truly think they have the best pizza in all of Lynnwood/ Mukilteo area.

I love Italian food and was excited to try a new place. The service was wonderful and the prices are decent, however I would not go back. We ordered the tri-colored tortellini and a personal size pizza. The pasta was good, however what we really got was a big bowl of sauce with some pasta thrown in. The sauce, really a ragu, was not very good and we both left some over, not typical of either one of us. The pizza was quite good and I would consider going back for that, as was the garlic bread. Good place for pizza, but not worth going out of your way to get here.

A great neighborhood speghettini house! I recommend the baked speghettini or the Chicken Sandwhich with a side of ranch for dipping. The sauce on the speghettini has a distinct taste you will not find anywhere else...a hint of what tastes like cinnamon, very different, very good. Their salad is amazing mainly because of their homemade dressings, but also because of the heafty portion of danish cheese they put on top. I often get their salad dressing in pint size containers to go, it is excellent. And the bread is pure buttery goodness.

we had really great service here. I liked my salad just fine and the pizza didn't need extra cheese. Always a plus when you don't have to embarrass yourself ordering extra cheese(re: lard). There was a very obnoxious patron sitting behind us who clearly doesn't get out much but that is probably par for the course in lynnwood...

Sparta's is my hangout place. Often, when we want to take some family members or friends out to dinner for a fun and relaxing time, we choose Sparta's. I love their Greek pizza, and the eggplant parmesan they serve is out of this world--delicious. Also, their salads are covered with grated mozzarella cheese and black olives, which I love, and their garlic bread is to die for. All of the people we've taken to Sparta's have enjoyed it, and no one has ever complained. The service is good and we always enjoy ourselves when we are there.

This place is yummy, and definitely one of my favorite places to go! Out of pizza I mean. I don't care if the bread is greasy, I love fat people food, and you don't eat it every day, so indulge yourself! (*cough* Rachel N. *cough*)

I thought I knew great pizza! I thought I knew was pizza was all about - until the gf brought me here! It's within walking distance of our house, so I wouldn't be surprised if this became a "once a month" deal - I mean who can argue when you walk to get here? Guilty after massive amounts of pizza? Not anymore!!!! They start you off with a salad, which no matter how plain the salad is (it's just your appetizer really) it's always so damn good! Then we will usually have the house wine (not right now however, since I'm 4.5 months pregnant!) before moving on to our pizza. I can't explain this pizza. Yes, it's stuffed, sort of, but it doesn't feel like you're consuming a PIE. It's full, but not the kind where after one piece you're dunzo - trust me, unless you're on the verge of explosion, you'll eat another - and maybe another! We had the Canadian bacon, which again is so plain, but the seasoning of the red sauce and the cheese - oh, so good! Downside: Their spaghetti. When I first was pregnant I craved spaghetti. I ordered spaghetti with meat sauce and ate maybe 4 bites. It's not your typical meat sauce. This is a whole different ballpark. If you like greek spaghetti where they put cinnamon or nutmeg or something in it... then sure try it, but if you want down home all American spaghetti - don't get it here! Service: Has always been friendly! Very attentive, and always making sure that you are never in need of anything - without being annoying!

This has to be my number one absolute favorite pizza....EVER. The buttery crunchy crust paired with the toasted gooey cheese and the flavorful toppings and sauce sandwiched in between is the perfect combination. Pizzas here are a little pricier than take out at Domino's obviously, but for the taste and quality it is well worth it. Also, I've never had a problem with poor service here, everyone is usually friendly and upbeat. $ saving tip: often times if you make a purchase at the QFC almost across the street (176th & Hwy 99), there is a coupon for a few bucks off at this Sparta's location on the back of the receipt.

My husband and I have been going to Sparta's for nearly 12 years now. If you are looking for wonderful Italian food, you've found the right place. The Baked Lasagna with Meatballs is fantastic. It comes to you right out of the oven, so hot the cheese is bubbling. You also get a great salad, with shredded Danish cheese and black olives and excellent dressing, as well as hot garlic bread. The prices are reasonable and the service has always been top-notch. We love Sparta's so much that we even drive there all the way from Burien when we can. Ridiculous gas prices and horrible Seattle traffic will still not keep us from the yumminess that is Sparta's.

I've been coming to Sparta's regularly for EVER!!! and hands down it's my favorite hometown restaurant. the pizza is different than most with the cheese holding in all the yummy baked toppings and the salads with the delicious creamy feta dressing make it my perfect meal. I've had amazing service even with big huge groups (we bring our softball team in a few times a season) good hustle and hometown feel. order the #23 pizza. it's SO good! great food other than pizza too, the lasagna is a cheesy delight!

The food is not good for you, but tastes awesome! I'd recomend the Cataloni Manacoti combo. It's not authentic Italian, but still tasty. The staff is friendly and it's got a neighborhood feel to it.

Love this place. Pizza is super yummy, cheesy and crust is perfect. Totally kid friendly and they have books for the kids in the lobby. Nice side salads and awesome ranch dressing. Seriously...this place rocks!

I only get pizza and a side salad, so this review is limited. So far they are the best pizza in the area. I love the way they brown the cheese on top. The side salads are simple, but very good. Very fresh and crispy, and the blue cheese salad dressing kicks ass! Love it! Service is friendly and they kept my glass full.

Went here last night for the first time, with three other people. The hostess was extremely rude and literally threw water on the table so hard that it spilled everywhere, then turned and walked away. However our waitress was very nice and attentive. Everyone in our party got a different dish, and everyone was mixed on how much they enjoyed it. Overall, the meat sauce was disliked by all that tried it, but the regular marinara sauce was excellent. Portions are big and no one actually finished their meal. Plus, the garlic bread is as big around as a tree trunk and very, very good. It was mixed overall from our group, but generally a good experience. Would definitely go there again, but just make sure to stay away from the meat sauce. ---------------------------- Update: Went back to Sparta's tonight (5-2-08), tried the tomato sauce instead of the meat sauce this time and it was great. Food was still real good, for the right price, service still kinda sucked though. Overall, 4/5 stars.

Spartas has very good pizza and pasta, and the soup and salad are always fresh, and quite enjoyable. The Gyro (beef or chicken) is very good. Spartas is always a nice quiet place to eat, but the prices seem to be creeping up, and I hope its not because of the owners new cars. very nice and friendly wait staff, always feel welcome. The spaghettini is not thin enough to call spaghettini, I dont know who they're trying to fool. The parmesan cheese and the red peppers in the shakers are always fresh. yes I do notice that! The place is usually very clean, and decorated for current holiday, and the hanging flowers out front are awesome! The meatball sandwich could be great, but they slice the meatballs, and dont put any sauce on it!?O_o? ...get a quote on your pizza pickup, so you wont be 'sticker-shocked'. Try the spaghetti and meatballs. comes with salad, and nice fresh garlic bread. the gal owner has the bomb mlf body, and somtimes shows a lot of top! nice!

We came here on a Friday night and were seated right away, it was pretty busy but kind of expected for a Friday. We ordered a pepperoni pizza. The cheese was great and they brought it out to us right out of the oven, very hot. Overall this pizza didn't taste bad, but for the price we paid, I think I'll just stick to Little Caesars carryout or at least try a different type of pizza next time.

This is a great neighborhood restaurant. It has all the right ingredients. The food is quite nice. The service is prompt and friendly but not pushy or overbearing. The dining room is usually full of locals who have a favorite plate or pie. Looking at the tables around you is just as handy as the menu, perhaps more so.

Pretty decent Italian restaurant. I went with my family and for some reason, the service we received from the waitress was not that good. It was very hard to get the waitress to come to our table, which I thought was terrible. However, this place was packed and the lasagna we ordered tasted pretty okay. I loved how much food we got. We had to bring home the leftovers. I'm sure the service we received was just one bad apple. I will come back to find out.

Diabolical. The sauce on our pasta was so bad...a strange mix of herbs and spices that were not balanced. Also tasted like the lexon (kitchen grade plastic container) it was stored in. Very disappointed.

Friday night is pizza night at our house, usually ordered and delivered from some papa generic, then followed by a Netflix movie. This night we decided to all go out for pizza to Portofino, which is really close to home. Portofino's lot was jam packed, absolutely no parking. With that, we opted for Sparta's where we haven't been for years for no particular reason. It was a busy Friday night, but only a 15 minute wait. Once seated, I ordered a Georgetown Lucille IPA (Sparta's varies their tap choices from week to week). The Lucille was a well balanced IPA, hoppy to a tee. Ãœber hoppy IPA's are so trendy these days, have you noticed? We started with the house salad, crisp sliced romaine topped with grated mozzarella and black olives and your choice of dressing, most excellent. Then pizza. The pizzas here are a medium thick crust with your choice of topping and a layer of mozzarella forming a baked-on cheese crust on the top. Excellent if you like that style, which I do. The wait staff is friendly, attentive and unobtrusive. Sparta's has been here for many years and has a great local following. Good choice for a family dinner.

Went here for the first time tonight. Not terribly impressed. The service was pretty good, our waiter was very nice and pretty attentive. Things here seem to move at their own pace though...which is fine if you don't happen to be in any big hurry. Had the tortellini...which in itself was much like more tri-color tortellinis nothing to write home about. The meat sauce was instantly, noticeably different than any I have had in the past. There seems to be an obvious cinnamon or nutmeg or some sweetish type flavor to it. Not my favorite, but not terrible. I ordered a side of the alfredo to go along with it...drizzled over each bite of tortellini...it really added a lot to the flavor of the sauce. As others have said, the garlic bread is HUGE and quite tasty. Dipped in the alfredo...right up there with a slice of heaven. I have to admit though, and this may have been just out of sheer starvation factor when we arrived...they have a feta salad dressing that is almost as addictive as crack! If I could've brought a bottle of it home, I would've! (Let it be known though...I am on a bit of a feta kick at the moment, that may have influenced my decision on it.) Worth a try if you happen to be in the area and stop in though. All in all...not a terrible place...not a fantastic place...but if we are ever in the mood for italian again and lost in Lynnwood (again)...we may stop in...again!

I certainly would love to give more than just three stars, but this place just isn't what it use to me. I remembered a time when Sparta's garlic bread was the size of a small mountain. I remember when their pizza was so heavy with toppings that it took two healthy and well coordinated nine year olds to carry a pizza from the car to the table. It still remains a solid choice for an Italian night out.

Sparta was a disappointment. We've heard good things about this place and always wanted to try their food, but alas that may have been true in the past. The present is mediocre. We've ordered two basic Italian dishes: spaghetti with meat sauce and meatballs (meatballs never came) and a small pepperoni pizza. One should think that these dishes are hard to fail, but this restaurant did. My spaghetti tasted as good as my home made dish, and mind you my secret recipe is boiled spaghetti noodles and a can of Hunts meat sauce. My wife's pizza was, and I quote, "as good as QFC's frozen pizza". While the service and atmosphere was good, I don't think we'll come back. There are just too many good restaurants nearby.

This was the most awesome pizza I've had in a long time. Cheesy, piping hot. We got the Italian sausage, and it wasn't just sprinkled on, it was COVERED in sausage in every single bite. The cheese, oh god, I just can't say enough good things about the cheese. Just the right amount of sauce. Excellent hand tossed crust. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves pizza.

First time I ate here I had the half & half (Ravioli and spaghettini) it was great! The place is always busy when I drive by and the also the 3 times I have eaten here. It's a nice little spot on the west side of highway 99 with plenty of parking and it also has "carry out parking" right out front. The garlic bread is some of the best I have ever had. The real treat just might be their pizza's.....they use 100% Danish Mozzarella which covers the toppings and it's a great flavor. Everything I have tried so far has been great and I highly recommend it if your in Lynnwood and hungry!

let's just say that if you love cheese and alot of cheese in a deep dished pizza please come here for dining.. I know lynnwood on highway 99 out of all places but omg so worth it!!!! the sauce is so perfect, the mounds of cheese.. dutch cheese.. so gooey stringy ;) perfect crust.. i am in love... this place is worth the drive !!!!!!!!!

I've been eating at Sparta's for about 3 years now. The first time we went, we got pasta. We enjoyed the pasta, but it wasn't much different then you could get anywhere else, so we weren't overly impressed. The second time we went, we got a pizza. This is some of the best pizza I've ever had. They use super high quality Danish cheese which they cook to a golden brown which gives it an amazing flavor. The toppings are all super high quality and delicious. These pizzas are fairly expensive at over $20 for a large, but they are also fairly hefty. I'm a big eater and I rarely can put away more then half of one. If you use one of their coupons from their website the price becomes even more reasonable considering the size of the pizza. This is the best pizza on the north end of seattle, and definitely worth a try. The restaurant is very popular and usually packed so if you want to eat in, call ahead.

Came here for dinner a week or so ago with my boyfriend. We were seated promptly and it was relatively busy. I had the tomato bisque which was very flavorful and creamy, and he had the salad which had plenty of cheese. I ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce and italian sausage. He ordered the lasagna with meat sauce. Both came out nice and bubbly hot. The spaghetti was perfect, not overcooked. And the italian sausage was just OK, not very flavorful in my opinion. I think I would have preferred more of a spicy sausage. The lasagna was very tasty as well. Not a huge fan of the garlic bread, was a bit on the crunchy side and very messy. Soft bread is more my fancy. Great buttery taste though. Ordered a pep/mushroom/olive pizza to-go. I've had their pizza before, albeit 10 years ago, and it was still great. Very cheesy and I love the crust. Good customer service and not too long of a wait for food. A little on the pricey side, especially for the pizza.

4 stars? This place is dingy, dim, and the decor is very tacky, it probably hasn't been updated since 1978. You know...grapes painted on the wall...and fake ivy collecting dust. Ew! All meals come with meat sauce or tomato sauce. There is ONE dish you can order that does not contain meat/tomato sauce. It's the Fettuccine Alfredo...$12.55...if you add meat to that dish, it's an extra $2.45-$4.20 depending on the meat you choose. $15 and upwards? No thanks. My dish came with soup or salad - I chose the potato cheese soup...and blech, it was cold! And their garlic bread? Seriously...the slice of bread was cut SO wide, it was the size of Megamind's head. - And lacked flavor. And when I say this restaurant has poor lighting ...the woman sitting behind me was trying to read her menu with a flashlight, and a magnifying glass. LOL! Serious. One star is what I am giving this place. Perhaps I should've tried the pizza, but now I'll never know.

I ordered a pizza and cheese bread. I made it home in time to bend over and empty my stomach into my toilet. No exaggeration. I wish I had something positive to say. Service, although friendly was glacially slow. Quality of food product, sub-standard. Price...on the high side for a pizza joint of this caliber. The cheese bread was doughy and reminded me of Safeway's budget french bread. There was lots of butter?...whatever their fat of choice is...and it was smothered in a white cheese with some not so great sauce. I ordered a pizza for my entree. The pizza crust was a little thick for my taste, but it did have a decent crunch to it... and the tomato sauce was....well..ugh...the same as what came with the cheese bread...not good. I felt it was over seasoned and overly sweet. When I asked what they used as their tomato product, I was told it was home made. I have never seen where a fresh tomato could be cooked to that consistency...not to mention, with the small work crew and amount of sauce that this place uses, I can't see where they would have their warehouse of tomatoes for their handful of workers to process and cook for the hours it would take to cook them down to paste consistency. My friend's chicken parm was described as rubbery. It appears they use the same sauce for everything. It tasted the same as what came with the cheese bread and pizza. They boast "Best pizza in the universe". I really want to know....which one?

We've previously eaten at Sparta's in Bothell where we had their pizza. I recall it being good. We were in the mood for pasta with kids in tow. We choose Sparta's over Olive Garden and Old Spaghetti Factory (both favorites of our kids) due to the 4 star review. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. I got the baked spaghetti with Italian sausage & danish cheese, my wife got a pesto pasta, and the kids had tortellini with Alfredo sauce. My dish looked great, however it was very bland. My wife thought the same of her dish. Our kids seemed to enjoy their food. Next time the family is in the mood for pasta we will skip on Sparta's.

no curb appeal at all but surprisingly busy for lunch on a tuesday. we were very early at 11:30 a.m. by 12:30 the dining room was nearly full. my lunch date who is a lynnwood homie told me that the building used to be a drive up burger restaurant and this restaurant has been here "forever". the interior decor is fairly dated and basic, but clean. our waitress was sweet but seemed overwhelmed by the time the lunch crowd hit. we finally had to remind her for our check and remind her to pick up our check. she maintained her sweetness even if she was the only wait staff on the floor except for one gentleman who came by to clear plates from the tables. we ordered an italian meatball side dish, the Sparta's salad and the #25 pizza with extra sliced tomatoes. the meatballs: 4 meatballs and tender. the red sauce was a bit heavier than i prefer. the Sparta's salad: considering it is a basic chopped iceberg salad, there was a generous amount of cheese and black olives. #25 pizza: pepperoni, sausage and olives. we added sliced tomatoes (cooked). this is the first time i've had a Sparta pizza. this is a very interesting pizza. the crust is fairly thin and crispy. it almost seems to be a stuffed pizza but it is not. there is a layer of cheese under the sauce and the meats, and a top layer of cheese. the top layer is browned rather than melting soft. it was different and yet appealed to me. the pizza sauce was tasty and tangy. the pizza is not inexpensive. the small which might have been 12" was $15.00. the lunch specials might be more of a value and might be the draw for the lunch crowd.

I am remiss in not writing an update sooner as Sparta's is consistently great! With a private parking lot, and adequate sized spaces and easy access on and off Highway 99. Its a cozy intimate setting that offers comfortable casual dining. The food is wonderful and service as good or better than most. The kitchen and staff are exposed to the dining area which gives a sense of neighborhood ambiance. My bride and I forget about eating at Sparta's for dinner unless we are in the mood for their decadent thick and chewy, cheesy pizzas. Tonight we wanted a modest priced dinner plus a glass of wine, not necessarily pizza. Much to my dismay, our other regular favorite neighborhood go to Italian place that is slightly closer to home recently quit offering table service. Ordering at the counter at any restaurant is not my style so we returned to Sparta's where we have never been disappointed during previous visits. Being Halloween, the wait staff wore their costumes and all were having fun waiting tables. We were seated immediately and greeted by Minnie Mouse our server. Both of our glasses of wine were in front of us post haste, we toasted and a short time later, generous house salads loaded with flavorful danish cheese and black olives were served. When my baked Italian platter arrived, I knew I struck gold. The large oval dish was filled with perfectly cooked pasta, a meaty sauce, plus several Italian sausages, all smothered in hot melted cheeses. Sided with a large buttery piece of garlic bread, I realized my eyes were bigger than my stomach and the half I didn't consume last night was reheated for breakfast and I am reaffirmed how great this meal was twice!

Mouth watering good. I don't normally like ranch, but the homemade ranch dressing on their house salad is finger licking delicious! You can't go wrong with anything - it's all cheesey and so yumm! Plus it's family friendly. Can't go wrong here!

I was so disappointed. The pizza looked fantastic with the Danish cheese sprinkled liberally and toasted. I made the unfortunate mistake of ordering garlic as one of the toppings. The garlic was roughly chopped and put UNDER the cheese. What the?!? There is no chance of it being able to cook... It was slap in your face raw and ruined the taste of the pizza. Here is a tip chef - thinly SLICE the garlic and put it on TOP of the cheese. Huge waste of money (almost $30 for one pizza) and the experience left such a bad taste I don't think I can give it another chance.

Pros - Friendly service, cheap prices Cons - Poor quality food, ambience I ordered the lunch portion of baked lasagna. It ended up being a hefty portion regardless, but unfortunately the quality was lacking. If I didn't know any better I'd honestly say it was Chef Boyardee. My fiancé ordered a 7" personal pizza. It had a similar "grocery store" look and quality to it.

I really wanted to like this place. I really did. It isn't a big chain. It has an old school, solid feel to it and it has been around forever. Having recently moved back, I'd driven by it many times and wanted to give it a try. I've gone twice now and twice I've left a bit disappointed. Let me say first that the servers are very pleasant and work hard. I just found the food lacking. The first time I went I ordered a pizza with anchovies and artichoke hearts. When I got into it, it became clear that it wasn't right. It looked like artichoke hearts and mushrooms. Not what I wanted. The server was very pleasant and got another one made up for me. The right pizza really wasn't all that much better. Putting anchovies on a pizza, I'm befuddled as to how it could still be bland, but it was. I think this might be the style of pizza where you have to have a goodly amount of meats on it. Otherwise, there isn't much to it. My second time there I ordered the eggplant parmesan, another favorite staple dish of mine. Also quite disappointing. In looking around menus around town I've seen a number of places that make it were they bake it on top of the side of spaghetti. I don't know why places do that. It isn't good. It just ends up being smaller than it should and everything just gets soggy. It was a ceramic boat with two (admittedly thick) slices of eggplant and tomato sauce put on top of spaghetti. The also not so good part of the eggplant meal was the garlic bread it came with. It was SOAKED in whatever oil or butter they put on it. Every bite I took I had to dab at my mouth and chin with my napkin because the butter/oil was dripping down my chin. I think I will go back when I am up for a meat-heavy pizza, but probably can't justify it for anything else. I hope the third time is the charm.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
