L&L Hawaiian Barbecue Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

After being away from Oahu for 16 years and eating at some "Hawaiian" restaurants that were a joke, this was great. I ate at L&L when I was a kid, would not have been my first choice on the island but it sure was like being back for just a few minutes this time. When I saw that it was an L&L I got really excited. It was very good, the people were nice, plate lunch prices... First time in a vary long time I was satisfied with "Hawaiian" food. Also it's always a good sign when you go into a place that is filled will not only military, but also patrons who look like they are of Pacific Islander decent!

I really wanted to give this spot a 5 star but I couldn't do it, so a 4 it is. If all I had to score was the food then definately this place would get the 5 stars it deserve. I'll start with the negatives and then close with the positives..... Negatives: BUSY, not enough help Slow to order Slow to serve food. DIRTY!!! I know I came after a lunch rush but back to #1 not enough help to clean up the establishment. Everything comes in to go styrofoam containers:( Positives: DEELICIOUS food!!! Huge portions Yummy side dishes Lots of food options Decent pricing Hubby got the fried shrimp which were HUGE, he couldn't eat it all! Daughter go the eggs, spam and rice, she couldn't finish all her's either and I had the mini kahlua and cabbage pork and I couldn't finish it either!!! I couldn't imagine if I got the full size meal.... all the leftovers combined made for a DEELICIOUS lunch left over the next day that my daughter and I shared! Will be back, but maybe for take-out and I will call ahead as well!

We had the Chicken Katsu and the shredded pork with a one soda for $16.20. Portions were good and the food tasted great. There was plenty of seating and the service was pleasant. If you desire there is even fried Span to really dive in the Island experience.

First time trying this place. Had the pork and rice. Good food, seemed a little expensive to me but they give you good portions. I plan on going back and trying something else also.

Chicken katsu and hawaiian chicken musubi! I really wish they had one in Spanaway/Puyallup.

Same stuff like in Hawaii. Good food, good service. Too bad its hard to get lau lau and poi from them, gotta ask. Good place if I need a quick fix of Kalua pig and rice.

Today I was again at L&L Hawaiian BBQ with a big forkful of the daily special. Kahlua Pig with cabbage, macaroni salad and two heaping scoops of white rice. It was savory and wonderful. A super comfort food! This place is not fancy, by any means, but the food is very yummy and hot. Sometimes I come here and order the BBQ plate with an assortment of wonderful meats soaked in ginger, soy, teriyaki sauce- grilled to perfection. Servings are enormous and can be shared by people with average sized stomachs. My friends and I come here and share food, or plan to take some home for lunch the next day. It's wonderful, inexpensive, and the perfect casual place to grab some great food fast.

Food was rather delicious. We got the BBQ chicken and short ribs and although a little oily, it was tasty. We got a lot of food for just one plate and the Mac salad is amazing. Can't wait to try more

  • Laura G.

Great. We always love the kalua pork (pork with cabbage is the best, if you like cabbage) and musubi (I prefer the chicken musubi). My husband always comments that it isn't as salty as other places, but I like it because of that.

  • Taga E.

I usually visit during lunch. My dad loves their spicy BBQ beef. I must say the girls that open shop are super friendly. Sadly to say I've visited one evening and the young lady that took my youngest sons order was rude. I give the morning/noon crew 5 stars. LocoMoco is good. If you are visiting for the first time I would suggest trying the BBQ mixed plate. Oh and perhaps get an extra mac (on crack) salad on the side. All my friends that I've introduced l&l to really love their mac salad.

What a surprise! My ignorance of Hawaiian food brought me here, but I was pleasantly surprised. I came in thinking pineapples, coconuts, and BBQ pig and was a bit taken back when I looked at the menu. It had fish, macaroni salad, some burger thing with gravy and eggs, and a ton of items that were new to me. They do have Hawaiian BBQ...shortribs, beef, or chicken, but it was the rest of their menu that I never heard of that impressed me. I got the shredded pork and cabbage....amazing!! Also tried spam musubi and BBQ chicken musubi...who knew you could get spam in a seaweed wrap?!?! This place is definitely unique and worth trying. My only suggestion is to come when you are not in a hurry. I had to wait about 15-20 minutes for my food after I ordered.

Thank you for bring me Aloha outside of Hawaii :-). I'm sure a lot of the food here would supersize me if I ate it everyday but at least it tastes a lot better than McDonalds. The two things i love here the most are the Spam & Portuguese sausage Musubi. I love how the saltiness contrasts the sweet soy glaze they put over it. Everything is made to order which can lead to a wait but better fresh than sorry is what I say. So basically here are the must trys: Musubi Loco Moco Mac Salad Hawaiian BBQ Chicken

The best Hawaiian food short order place in Washington. My family make it a point to eat here at least once a week mostly on Fridays. The food is great and the staff are all friendly. The price is definitely reasonable. My favorite is the roast pork plate, it reminds me of home at the Big Island whenever we are here. It never disappoints. Other great food: mix barbecue plate, chicken katzu, loco moco and the spam saimin.

  • Samantha G.

I come here way too much. I get everything, and everything is good. My favorite is the chicken katsu, but I usually get the daily or chef special. For about $8, your going to get a ton of food, mainly meat, so you're not getting ripped off getting full on rice and mac salad. The L&L girls are my favorite, they're so sweet!

  • Malia R.

Best Hawaiian spot around the area. Definitely recommend the make your own combo with bbq chicken and fried shrimp. I am addicted to their mac salad! They also have Hawaiian Sun drinks and chocolate covered macadamia nuts! Nom nom nom

I had ahi poke and one of the smoothies. First of all, I like l&l because I like Hawaiian food and its the closest place available in lakewood. Its only 3* because the ahi poke was not good and the smoothie was not good either to my tasting. I know what good ahi poke is and that was not! The smoothie, I'm sure it would've tasted good to someone else's taste, but not mine since I am particular about it.

My husband loves the food, BUT I don't think the cashiers should be eating and sticking their fingers in their mouths while taking people's orders. Also, the tables and floors were disgustingly dirty. I hope the kitchen is clean! Take out only from now on.

I have never been to a L&L location before. Following the viewing of Django Unchained (Tarantino does it again 8/10)on 1/5/13, I hit the Lakewood location. I decided to go with the Half & Half Mix (BBQ Beef and Chicken Katsu) The food took about 10 mins to get done. I thought the beef was too salty. They need to scale back on that. As for the Katsu, they forgot to give me the sauce that went with it. I had to go and ask for it. What was impressive, was the amount of food. I'm pretty sure that my food, along with my rice that came with it was a good 5lb platter. $11.91 total with a small drink. Well worth the money spent. I'd give L&L another go sometime despite some minor shortcomings.

Lately I've really been missing the delicious food I indulge myself in when I'm in Maui, and I decided I'd dive into L&L yesterday. First, I was there during weekday lunch hour and it was so busy! It's really relaxing in there.. Air-conditioning full-force, music playing... ahh! I got take-out: BBQ mix plate for my husband and kalua pork for myself. He's never had any Hawaiian barbeque and he loved it. Everything was amazing! Juicy, delectable, couldn't put it down. And I want more only a day later!

  • Evan G.

I was pretty content with this place. After being disgruntled from being turned away at the Korean BBQ place, I ended up here, and the girl behind the counter was very helpful. I went up and asked her what order would give me the most amount of meat vs getting all sides and no meat, she said the BBQ mix plate without hesitation and I said OK let's do it! Easy. Quality of food was so-so, mostly the chicken brought it down, but not enough to give me a bad reflection of this place. Would probably go again, mostly because of service. If not for good service this place would've gotten 3 stars.

  • J F.

Gets the job done...however not the greatest for a plate lunch. Don't get me wrong, I do like L&L's on the mainland since there doesn't seem to be anything remotely close to this in the surronding area. I've gone here 2 straight trips down to my friends place. Beef and Kalbi is dry, mac salad is alright. They do have garlic shrimp there..which my wife loves, however they aren't ur kohuko shrimp variety. THis place is always busy which is a good and bad thing. Food is fresh however you have to wait a while.

The Spam Musubi was legit! I will definitely be going back soon!

You pretty much know what you're getting into as soon as you walk in. It is more of a fast food joint and may take a minute or 5 for your food. As soon as you see the menu, you can pretty much throw calorie counting out the door. But that's expected at a Hawaiian restaurant. The katsu is very good and the regular is HUGE. The spam musubi is good, but it's hard for me to spend more than $2 for a piece of spam and rice wrapped in seaweed. The kalua pork is awesome. I'm a big kalua pork and cabbage guy and this is as good as it gets for being a fast food joint. Of course it's not nearly as good as it is in the island, but it's solid. The mac salad is ok. I've been to 2 other locations and it actually varies by location. It can have too much onions for my tasting. Overall, you can expect good Hawaiian food (which can be hard to find) with large servings.

For all intents and purposes, this rating might be inflated, more so because of how it's a taste of "home" for me, more than anything else. If you're reading this review, bear with me as I share this little story. I was just recently stationed here in washington, previously residing in southern california. There, hawaiian barbecue's were commonplace. In all honesty, one of the things I was going to miss most about leaving was hawaiian barbecue. So on a whim one day sometime last month, I looked up L & L's website, and to my pleasant surprise, they do indeed have this place up here in Tacoma. I more or less dropped what I was doing and booked it over here as fast as my gps navigating skills (which are limited, at best) could take me. I ordered the loco moco, which is like my theme food or something. Like say, how a superhero has theme music, I have theme food. But I will mention the subtle differences....they put the extra macaroni salad in plastic cups. Back "home", they just put them in mini styrofoam plates. And they have a kalua pork with cabbage option, meaning they have the cabbage mixed in rather than under. I wasn't too big on that. But everything else is pretty much the same. Cashiers are nice, place is clean, prices low, but again, there should be health advisories attached to every plate. You'll need to exercise if you go here. The east coast needs this place. Well let me put it this way, wherever I go in life, I wish they'd have an L & L's somewhere in the area.

I love this place. I took my neighbor here for lunch and ordered him a chicken Katsu plate. He opened his plate and said "dAaaAAaaaam.....this a MANS plate"..lol

  • Yeeee B.

I visited my friend up in washington and we wanted to grab a quick dinner. We drove by this place and wanted to give it a shot. The food was amazing as well as the service: fast. I ordered the loco moco and the friend ordered a katsu. To top off our evening, we each had our own order of spam musubi that was excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants a quick, easy, and AWESOME plate of deliciousness.

  • Debbie B.

Food is good. Don't like that they start putting up chairs and sweeping up at 8:45 when they close at 9:00. We were still eating and it felt like we were being rushed out when the employee was sweeping up the place sending the dirt flying all over. Even though you close at a specific time, cleaning should happen when the last customer leaves. Food is still worth eating but just a little bit more etiquette is what's needed.

    (3)
  • James J.

Good food and portions. Little pricey but Curry Katsu rocks. Got to try the loco moco.

    (3)
  • MandM S.

The place is ok, the staff are not that friendly. The food is typical for its kind, nothing to write home about.

  • Tom S.

If you are Jonesing for a taste of home away from home, this place will fill you with that ono feeling. Friendly staff too.

  • Handsome G.

This is where I go for good old junk food Hollie style. Musubi Spam Rice Kimchee!! Plenty of Shiracha sauce !!! Comfort food the island way. All we're missing is the Salami and Macadamia nuts! Good food. Friendly staff.

  • Robbie N.

Seriously some of the best food you can eat! :) I go here sometimes 3-4 times a week on lunch since it is close to work. The food is ridiculously good, from the BBQ Mix plate if you can't decide, to the Kaluha Pork w/cabbage (Wow!). The beef, beef ribs and chicken individually are all great choices. They have musubi & lumpia if you love that sort of thing, I do. :D I always mix it up when I go, never get anything bad and a few of the employees are super friendly and take good care of me every time I go! One of my favorite places overall.

If you're in Lakewood, hungry, and you don't want to pay a ridiculous price for a FULL meal? Go to L&L Can't beat that number 3 combo

  • John C.

If you've never had Hawaiian food this may be a little strange to you - why put a fried egg over a beef patty over white rice and smother it with brown gravy?! LoL! Well, I am not Hawaiian but I lived there for three years and it's a funny thing, when I was there I tried to avoid chain restaurants, but now I'll take what I can get. And L&L is the best I can get here. But that's not to say the food isn't good! Today's visit was my first since being in Lakewood area and it was a taste of home! (I say home because being in the military you have a new home every few years). I ordered the Lau Lau and got my wife Kalua pig each with an addition of a spam musubi. Both orders were delicious! The spam musubi brought back so many memories as they are to Hawaiian gas stations what hot dogs are to mainland gas stations. The Lau Lau was moist and delicious and had the butter fish in it. Tip: be sure to remove the outer tea leaves as they are not edible, but the tarot leaves are. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Kalua pig. It's a wonderful thing how food can transport you to memories of good times and today's lunch did just that. Can't wait to go back and try more!

We took the grandkids in for lunch. Selection was good, food was hot and delicious. No complaints on service. Everything came as ordered. We have not had such good Hawaiian fare outside of Hawaii. I only wish there was one closer to our home.

    (5)
  • Bernie B.

Good Hawaiian food, good prices, can't really complain about anything. Maybe if they had hula dancers as I ate my food performing it would be tiiite!

  • Shirley S.

This local food place is okay. The food is really inconsistent. The service is seriously lacking. There is one cashier that is extremely pushy and rude. Every time we have gone (which is getting to be less and less), one of the workers starts cleaning the tables and moving around the chairs. This is fine, except for the fact that it is LOUD! Like, "let's just take our food home" kind of loud. It isn't all that serous, but it is pretty damn annoying and rude.

  • Jude H.

When this place opened up, I was so happy that I ate here almost everyday since I work in the same complex. I was so happy, because I grew up in Hawaii and could finally taste home. One problem is, it's a "fast food" type of home, so it's not the greatest but for a craving, yes it will do. The MAIN problem, is the service. I don't know who hires these kids to work back there, but that is the reason I HAVEN'T GONE BACK IN 2 YEARS. They can take ages to fill your order, I mean an exceptionally long waiting time. If you want to wait 40 minutes, come here. That is extremely long for this type of food. I mean, half a plate is usually filled with rice and macaroni salad, it's not high-end gourmet and it doesn't take long for most dishes! Once my coworker saw one of the cooks eat some of the fries he had just put in her 'to go' box, before closing it. Well she wasn't having any of it, and demanded a brand new order since not only did she not receive the full amount of food, the cooks bare hands hand been all over it. So that wasted her lunch break. My coworkers also don't go there anymore; once one of the employees walked in, smelling of alcohol. Let's face it: this place cannot replicate all the great food you can get back in Hawaii. L & L's are probably much, much better there. Then again, when I lived there we never went to one. We didn't need to.

  • Tia A.

The menu is a little different from L&L in Hawaii, but it's still has ono (good) food. Don't know what I'd do without it here. Nice place. Good food. Listen to the Hawaiian music, and pretend you're in Hawaii while u eat. =D

    (4)
  • Steve S.

L&L Hawaiian BBQ is good eats. Nothing here is good for you (everything is comfort food), but everything is delicious. The chicken katsu is fantastic, but i recommend one of the combo plates in order to try more than one item at a sitting. I haven't had the Loco Moco yet, but it looked good. I'm a little disappointed they don't do a chili moco, but that is a small complaint. If you haven't had Hawaiian BBQ before, go try this place ASAP. If you are familiar with Hawaiian BBQ, also go (my Hawaiian coworker loves this joint).

    (5)
  • Andy C.

A friend took me here when I was on a trip to lakewood and WOW! better than all the other Hawaiian BBQs I've had and I have had plenty. Huge portions for a low price, what more could you ask for? Workers are friendly and helpful as well!

great Hawaiian food. love the teriyaki plate and the loco moco. truly gives me the taste of Hawaii.

We came from San Diego and practically lived next door to one of the L&L's there. So when we my hubby got stationed here in WA, I felt devastated because Hawaiian food from this establishment is my go-to comfort food. But lo and behold, they have one in Lakewood and 2 other places in FedWay and Renton. Its still about a 20 minute drive from where we live going to Lakewood but the drive is worth the wait because their food is really delish! I've tried almost everything on their menu and pretty much everything is GOOD. The portion sizes are huge, made for sharing, like what L&L says "sharing is caring". I don't really care about the decor and the interiors because we always get our food to go, besides all of their branches are like that, busy during meal times and always decorated simple. I suggest calling in advance for food to go. That's how it worked for us for years and never had to wait for our Hawaiian BBQ.

  • Jhoana R.

I've had l&l at other locations and absolutely loved it, except this location for some reasons the food just doesn't taste or look fresh. And the staff is sorta rude. I would recommend this restaurant just not this location.

    (1)
  • C L.

While I was living in Honolulu, I avoided chain restaurants like L&L. Now that I'm in the Pacific NW, L&L fulfills that craving for Hawaiian food. It's also a quick pick-me-up for the days that Hawaii is on my mind. I got the BBQ chicken and pork LauLau combo plate for $11, came out to $13 with tax. Tastes just like the food I used to get from a neighborhood mom-and-pop restaurant in Honolulu. Funny how food triggers memories. Next time I come back, I'll get some garlic shrimp, which is the closest it gets to Kahuku shrimp trucks on the island.

  • Blaine D.

It's been 4 years since I have seen an L and L BBQ as soon as I saw they were opening I new I had to go. They were busy during the lunch hour as expected. I ordered the BBQ chicken and it was to die for coming with the traditional two scoops of rice one scoop of Mac salad and some cabbage. My mouth was in an orgasmic state as soon as the first bite hit my tongue. The only negative about this location is it is quite tiny but the outdoor seating is nice and in the shade.

  • Yvonne K.

I love this place. This is a fat girls dream. Full on meat with two scoops of macaroni salad? Check! And they ALWAYS cater to what I want. Love this place! Try the short ribs and barbecue chicken and if you're in a rush you can call ahead. Parking is never an issue but it can get pretty busy since its that darn good!

  • J S.

This is the place I go to when I am craving some spam masubi and some grilled chicken. Always consistent and nice portions. There salad mac is good too.

What a ditz. Posted my review for the federal way L&L! Meant for the lakewood L&L! When I'm missing a BIG part of home this is my spot. It is the Closest to where I live so it'll do. I usually order the mixed BBQ plate , all rice (no mac salad for me...mayo is a bit much) & I'm in heaven...haha . Hubby usually gets the Chicken Katsuy plate ; which he LOVES! Stop on in if you want some local plate lunches at pretty much anytime of the day! :) i do want more local foods so next stop is Pac Island Grill.

L&L would not have been my first choice back on Oahu but I am here and it's a taste away from home. After eating almost the same food everyday for the past couple of weeks (we just moved), we needed to recharge. And what better way to than to get some local Hawaii food. Thank you L&L for setting up shop. Bf and I ordered two plates ; chicken katsu and the laulau & kalua pork cabbage. Oh my! Their chicken katsu is bomb diggity. It's actually better than the chicken katsu made back in Hawaii, dare I say. It's very juicy and the portion sizes are large. My plate lunch (chicken katsu) included two scoops of rice, mac salad and 2 chicken katsu sauces. As for my bf, he enjoyed his laulau & kalua pork cabbage which also included a scoop of rice and mac salad. Will we return? Heck yes.

The food smells wonderful but the taste is something else me an my boyfriend both got sick after eating the food here. they don't even know how to make lumpia . I've been waiting for the one in Tacoma to open but after getting sick in Lakewood I'm not excited at all .

    (1)
  • Richie L.

Authentic Hawaiian food at its best and at a great price. So much to choose from. The weekday daily chef special is always good. I highly recommend a side order of the Lumpia. Customer service is on point.

Portions were good, but meat was fatty. At Asian food market you can buy the same meat, less fat and better quality for restaurants. Just saying, having had family own several Asian restaurants...The gals were busy, the food came quick, the portions are large, just more fat than meat on beef. I ordered the mix meat combo. The teriyaki sauce is very watery, but maybe it's supposed to be... it was my 1st attempt at Hawaiian food after a bad experience several years ago at another place. It was decent. I gave the other half to hubby. He enjoyed it. There only downfall were the dead fruit flies on the tables. Ewwww!

  • Tornadoroo K.

We love this place. I am a big fan of the brown rice they serve (just ask for it, no charge for the sub). I also like that when in the mood, I can get green salad instead of the mac salad. We have never had bad service here. Generally, we show up around 11 am to 11:30, but have eaten around. 1pm. The food: Chicken Katsu is tasty, the mac salad is authentic Hawaii, the green salad is just that, but try the house dressing (ginger and I believe sesame oil) its great. The short ribs and Loco Moco are very tasty. The bar b que beef is excellent, but not for everyone. There is a bit of connective tissue due to the beef cut that can cause some people grief. They serve burgers and fries for those less adventurous (or kids). Drinks are Pepsi products and the BEST ICE TEA island style ever (ok, except on Kauai). We usually spend around $20 for the two of us and I take some home. Everything is served in a takeout box, so no problem there. But lets face is, left overs are the exception here. NOTE: Two items. They Do Cater and they ask for those ordering take out to check the food before leaving. They are only human. Service here is Island friendly, Mahalo.

Awesome food but usually no place to sit. It's worth the wait though. Place is clean and staff is always friendly. Alpha :)

I've had L&L in Hawaii cause I'm from Hawaii... But I moved to Washington and I had their food and got sick from it!!! Bad experience, I'm never eating there again!!!

Pretty good for a chain restaurant. I'm more for the local business man, however I did enjoy the chicken katsu...

  • Greg S.

L&L was the worst BBQ I had on the Big Island. But it's the only Hawaiian BBQ in the South Sound area and I love it! Need some Lau Lau, Kalua pork, Musubi, Moco Loco? You can get your fix here.

    (4)
  • Francisco C.

Customer service was horrible. I ordered food at 835pm they close at 0900pm, cashier tells me that I had to take the food to go because they were closing down. It was 834pm my friend and I would have had plenty of time to eat. Now I'm here outside L and L eating in my car. Good food though just mad at the poor customer service.

  • Blaze V.

I live in Lacey and work at Ft Lewis and I will travel to Lakewood when I feel I need to eat. I know this place is going to fill me up everytime. A Waipahu boy needs to eat local food every now and then. Cannot try cook local food everytime das y. Lol

    (4)
  • Van D.

There is a lot of variety here and decent prices. Yes you will spend a dollar or two more than Mickey-D's, but the portions are very hefty and you don't feel like you just ate grease in a bun. I'd recommend the Chicken Katsu and the short ribs on rice; but a great way to go is the Seafood/meat combo! the best of both worlds.

    (4)
  • John C.

Customers service was horrible. Had to wait for the cashier to stop texting on her phone to place an order, and if your going to serve food of hawaii atleast have your employees learn some of the language.....for instance "Aloha" means hello and good bye! Not "Mahalo"

    (2)
  • Mike M.

After reading all the reviews and seeing it got 4 stars, maybe I went there on a bad day. The customer service seemed non existent, as far as the good goes the meat was passable but the side dishes were the most bland, flavorless, sides I've ever experienced. It should be noted that I don't have much experience with Hawaiian food so maybe this is just standard? Idk. I may go back someday and try it again based on everyone else's recommendations but it'll be on someone else's dime. Maybe I'll find a date that wants to change my mind

Amazing. My friends talked about this place a lot when I was in high school so I decided to give it a try. Ever since the first time, there would always be times throughout the month where I would crave their food. Food is great, portion is RIDICULOUSLY LARGE. I ordered a half and half plate (half locomoco, half Kalua pork) I are it around 2pm and my stomach was satisfied for the rest of the day. The workers there are mostly friendly. The atmosphere is nice, the down part is that I feel like everything is really squished but it's understandable due to the location that they are at. Overall this place is great, if you want a big meal for such a good price, then I would definitely recommend to eat here for sure.

Mmmm, yum! I love this place! Front people taking your order are always friendly, place is always clean and food is always delicious! I have had and issue with my order once and when I told them they apologized and fixed it right away! Great customer service and nice environment to be in :)

Decent food and OK customer service. Food can take a while to come out sometimes. This is somewhere I would eat at every once in a blue moon, but not regularly.

Prices at this L&L has been going up every year. The place looks like a fast food joint but the prices and the waiting time is like a restaurant. We ordered 2 dishes, 2 musubi, 2 drinks for lunch and it costs us about $30. The waiting time was almost 20 minutes. The musubi is also a little pricier than other L&L's we went to. I suppose each L&L makes their own price. If it wasn't for the tasty musubi's, I'd probably go somewhere else.

Clocked out for lunch at 11:10am, called in a phone order of a mini hamburger steak with an extra side mac salad..was told it would be ready in 15min..(11:30 at max to be ready) got there bout 10min later and up to register to pay and didn't walk out with my order until 11:55... No words of apology given whatsoever..compensation for waiting forever...a spam musubi...can a spam musubi compensate for time...HELL NO!! it sure can't..customer service here consisting of the 2 ladies that run the front..BIG PATHETIC ZERO....organization, effectiveness and speed of service of the 2 Hispanic male cooks playing Hispanic music in the bck in a "hawaiian BBQ place" in the back...BIG PATHETIC ZERO!!! Big deal by giving me a FREE spam musubi to compensate for time waited...I could care less about the free food...they NEED to better their customer service and freakin get more cooks in there for the lunch time rush...WILL NOT GO BACK TO THIS HELLISH PLACE..it was run better when there was the brother and sister team!!!

Good food. Nice portions. A group of us just finished training for an upcoming fight and ran late finishing up. We called and they stayed open late to serve us which was awesome!

since Pritty much every teriyaki joint around is closed sunday and was craving some charbroiled chicken breast (too lazy to go hoof in and out of grocery then cook it) reluctantly decided to check this place out having seen decent reviews but never been to a hawwian bbq place PLUS its 3 mins from my house! walked in and was actually surprised place was hoppn peeps waiting in line and many waiting for their orders for dine in and carry out. love the menu its very ez choose as there are pics of most items. i decided on the healthy version of bbq chicken PLATE ( bigger portion then the bowl) which comes with bbq chicken BREAST ( i asked did not want thigh meat!) brown rice and salad but they allowed me to substitute steam veggies. also requested no other added sauce except what it had been marinated in however they have a whole sauce/condiment self serve area if so desired...yes I'm picky and the gal taking my order was sweet and pleasant and didn't even bat an eye with all my requests and questions ;D actually all the employees there are so laid back friendly they don't seem stressed out at all even when so busy so refreshing! so the verdict is i really like this close to home option for fast semi fresh to go food! admittedly the chicken marinade is on the salty side but when i cut it up and tossed it with the steam veggies and few scoops of brown rice then sprinkled some cayenne pepper and garlic on it was truly perfect and delish not too salty at all. have another half left for dinner :D also the veggies are very good not soggy frozen thawed overcooked crap they are fresh semi firm unseasoned slight crunch no funky old aftertaste much appreciated! ill be back def want to try the musabi next time. after trying this wud def choose it over teriyaki no question.

I was skeptical of this place because from the outside I just expected something different. But my husband kept bugging me to try it, so we finally tried it and I am very happy and surprised to say that everything was amazing. I had the healthy garlic shrimp and he had the barbecue chicken and rice and everything tasted really amazing!

I don't know but when ever I get L&Ls from here my food is a little burnt. Besides the L&LS in the Lakewood towncenter I've tried a couple in California and they really fill your plate well, I don't know about Lakewood. katsu chicken is amazing though. cashier girls are always nice.

L&L!! Thank the lord I found you!!! One major thing I miss about living in Hawaii is the food. Came here for a lunch of Saturday and was not disappointed. Although the sky was gray and it was in the low 40s, this girl was transported back to paradise. I got the basic bbq chicken plate (mini) and it was great! This will be one of my places of refuge while I await my return to the islands.

A bit of Hawaiian comfort, got the Loco moco, yum. Friendly service and hot food, I'll be back...

Spam musubi. L&L satisfies this need. This alone warrants a personal 5 stars from me. The fact that I can get a "low carb" plate loaded down with Hawaiian bbq and fried eggs sans rice is just a bonus. Saimin is a bonus too. Sure, some employees get happy with the salt and the prices are a little higher than the average fast food joint - I'll grant you that. But I will walk trance-like to a bowl of Loco Moco from 50 paces...and now you know why I am a big girl. 'Nuf said!

Macaroni salad is the best! Priced a bit higher then I expected but they give good portions to fit it.

This is the best " fast food" ever! My grandkids love everything on the menu! It is salty, fatty goodness .very clean, friendly service. When we need fast food for reasons that have nothing to do with health..this is the spot! They have so improved from when they first opened.. kid friendly, good prices, hot food and clean ..restrooms and all. My biggest complaint is all the styrofoam ! The not recycled or compostable garbage that was just from our table was way too much! I would be so much more likely to go ..heart healthy or not.. if the offered recyclable containers, or even decent paper plates for inside eating. Once a month lunch with the little kids? Perfect! But wow do you get the thirsties after eating here!

What a disappointment! Please take the drive to Puyallup or Tukwila for Hawaiian aloha grill. Its most definitely worth the drive. Idk what l&l is really serving but not only is it bad "Hawaiian" food it's nasty in general.

Good food, fast and a lot of it. Pick anything on the menu and you can't go wrong. They've even added salads to some meals for those that are counting carbs. Give me double macaroni salad with my meal. L&L is always a go to place when I'm in the area.

If you haven't tried L&L Hawaiian BBQ, YOU SHOULD NOW!!! It's the best:) If you are a newcomer, Chicken Katsu would be the safest and delicious dish to start with. AND NO THEY DON'T SERVE FRIED RICE PEOPLE!! Its Hawaiian NOT Chinese (my husband overheard a family in there one day and asked for fried rice...such ignorance).

Customer service was subpar. The cashier did not put in our third combo order. Blamed us for not checking our receipt instead of graciously apologizing. Food was okay but bad service won't bring me back.

The lady at the counter was really friendly and gave us a sample before ordering. She told us about each item on the menu and how she felt about each. Honesty :) I got #21 and my husband got #14. We were both very pleased with our meals. Also, huge portions. We are new to the area and will probably go back :)

We were looking for something quick and cheap the other night for dinner, and came across this little place. Based on my trusty Yelper's review's we gave it a shot! It a cute little place tucked away in a strip mall, part of the Lakewood Towncenter area. The decor is cute, the place is clean. They are friendly and quick. The food was good, and the portions are huge, but the claim to be Hawaiian? I am not convinced. It seemed to be just some grilled meats.... My husb got the mix plate, and it got the pork, which was pulled pork with cabbage. It was good but not great. I wish they would have had a few more authentic items on the menu, that would keep me coming back.

Long story short: call ahead and order before you go or make sure you have at least have 30 minutes to wait for some food. i went in on a sunday night and it still took half an hour to get a 3 piece order out to me. Not entirely sure what on the menu was Hawaiian though

I've eat at most of the L & L locations in the area and would have to say that I prefer the Lynnwood location the most. Their food is a lot more consistent. Not to say that the Lakewood location is bad...it's hit and miss. Definitely get the Katsu...it's usually very good. I like to get it with gravy and have the gravy served on the side. The mini portions are more than enough for a normal person's appetite. I might be able to finish a whole order if I fast for a day. Spam Musubi's grub..BBQ is decent. L & L hits the spot if you're hungry and you don't want to spend too much.

One trip isn't enough for a decent review, but after the first time I don't know that I need to go back. The food was OK, not great but just OK. Tried a few different things and it was all things that I have had better elsewhere. Soup we tried was bland and the chicken dish was over seasoned a bit. There were a few other things that looked tempting but I don't make to that area too often to give it another shot.

Get the LOCO MOCO!!! Hamburger patty soaked w/ brown gravy over steamed white rice; over easy egg on top of the hamburger steak. Even ponder what you would eat if you were on death row??? Well this it... Calories would give you a heart attack before ol' sparky would have the chance to fry you. Love this place!!! Treat them like McDonalds go only twice a week.

Horrible customer service, followed by a ridiculous wait for mediocre food. I have eaten here multiple times, in an attempt to find something good about this exact location, but, every time I am disappointed. I love other locations, but this particular one is sorely disappointing.

I recently moved from Hawaii to Washington and I was craving some Hawaiian food. Let's just say, its not very Hawaiian but I guess this is as "Hawaiian" you're going to get. Not only was the food mediocre but it took a very long time to get my food. I'll keep searching for better Hawaii food.

Came here an hour before closing with my sister and it was fairly busy maybe 7 people inside 3 behind us in line. Everyone else was eating. The service was okay nothing really bad to complain about but nothing good to compliment about other than it being really fast. After receiving our food we ate on the bench nearby as I noticed maybe 20 more people show up and without missing a beat they had there orders and people out in 30 minutes. Now that's fast all in all gast service and the Chicken Katsu was perfect and mac salad was good

I've never really had cravings for Hawaiian food outside of spam musubi and this place probably won't change it. However I was content with what I got with a few complaints about the food itself. So I ordered the whole BBQ platter thing which involved chicken, ribs, and some other meat that seemed over-seasoned or burnt so I didn't really enjoy that part. The other two were quite good and they give enough rice to go with it. But seeing how I primarily came here for the spam musub, I'll concentrate on that a bit. Now I feel that it's fair practice in these places to leans heavily toward rice in the rice:spam ratio. Which was something I didn't quite enjoy about it. I likes the taste of it but as a little appetizer, it's really filling due to the amount of rice involved. I would wish they used less rice in the musubi and I wouldn't necessarily mind if it still cost the same either. The place itself was laid out like any other fast food type establishment so that's about I could say about it. It's good enough and I don't know any other Hawaiian place to compare with it. The general taste of everything was good and I would come back when I have a hankering for Hawaiian food, which isn't too often.

I have been here on many occasions and have never been disappointed. The food is good and the portions are large. If, you are in the area, give this place a try.
