A rain out at the golf course brought our group to this place, which seemed like it got the best reviews out of the bunch. Couldn't decide on the all you can eat $19.95 option, or a simple bento meal. Since the BBQ is what they're known for, I went for it. My first BBQ experience in North Seattle was a bit of a disappointment because the coals were never quite hot enough. This place was great because it was gas fired and hot on the entire cooking surface. The green salad was standard, with a light sesame oil dressing. The ban chan plates were refilled upon request - no potato salad today unfortunately, but we were served a couple different kinds of kimchee, broccoli, mushrooms and bean sprouts. The server brought out a huge platter of meat, my favorites being the pork belly and frozen "circles" of beef. Midway through, she brought out a spicy tofu soup, which was tasty and nose-clearing. She also brought out a clean grill since the pork marinade mucked up the original grill. Nice touch. We asked for a second helping of some beef and chicken and she quickly brought out a couple more thighs and a pile of bulgogi. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we were able to give sad face and get a small to-go box, which is frowned upon.

Been here several times and my kids love it! Fast service and good food but quite expensive as compared to others in the area. Huge resto hence whenever we have visitors from out of town, this is the place to bring them since they can accommodate large groups without reservations. Wish they have more delectable desserts though since we love sweets after every meal.

I have been craving Korean BBQ for awhile and this was great. We got the Marinated Meat Combo A. All of the sides were delicious and they gave us an extra portion of rice for my kid which was nice. Salad was fresher than any salad I've recently had at any restaurants. It wasn't busy when we went in and we were greeted and seated quickly. It was an excellent dining experience and we were barely able to eat all of the food. It was comparable to other Korean BBQ places I've gone to back home in NOVA and am glad to have found it so I can get my KBBQ fix whenever I'm in the mood for it!

There are 3 Korean bbq places within a half mile distance on South Tacoma Way in Lakewood, WA. Gangnam is one of them. It was previously called Honey Pig. Their all-you-can-eat special is $3 more than Palace, which is probably why I don't eat here too often. I was given a restaurant.com gift card and put it to good use. Four of us ate like kings for only $50, including tax and tip. Their banchans (side dishes) need improvement. Service needs work as well. There was only 1 server for 7 tables.

Great meat! The first 2 times that we went they offered seafood with the all you can eat. Last night, however, they did not. Also, every time that we go and order the all you can eat, as soon as you finish the first plate they shut your grill off. They don't bring you additional dipping sauce to the small amount that is offered originally. I just feel that they want you to leave right after your first plate. The male owner is not a very warm greeter, either. Many other BBQ places around the area...probably won't be going back here.

Super clean, super inexpensive, extremely nice owners and most of all GREAT FOOD! For $30 we had 3 variety of meats, banchan, soup and salad. Most Korean BBQs in town are either 20 per person (all you can eat) or $45 for 2...I have never been able to eat all the food presented to me...So Gangnam is a great opiton when I want just right portions. Service was attentive....The downfall of another palace in town. If your in Lakewood come check this place out. I was a fan of Honey Pig, and Gangnnam is better.

My husband and I came here and did not choose the BBQ option. While the food was ok, the service was lacking. There were about 5 tables and 2 waitresses. After being served, we had to flag one waitress down for refills, and about 20 minutes after that my husband had to look for someone to give us to go boxes and so that we could pay. The waitress seemed very friendly the few times that we saw her. I don't think we'll be back anytime soon though.

love this place! I also like their facebook page where the dishes are explained for me. Like most travelers I read the reviews so wanted to make sure I posted this. If you like exploring other cultures and foods like I do this place is great.

I recently visited Gangnam BBQ thinking it was Honey Pig, apparently it's a whole new operation now. Instead of ordering BBQ I decided to go with traditional Korean fare instead. I ordered Bi bim bop and my wife ordered dumpling soup. Let the record state that the food was utterly fantastic and all the little side dishes were great as well. My only gripe was that the service was a huge disappointment. Once we received our food our waitress was nowhere to be found. We were left with a table full of great food but a rapidly dwindling supply of beverage to wash the food down. The only time we were visited again was for the bill and before I could even ask for more water she was gone like a ghost in the night! Like I said, the food was great, the service, not so much. I would consider going back again to give them another shot, at least the food will be solid.

Our friends took us here thinking that it was still Honey Pig - boy were we in for a surprise when we arrived at Gangnam BBQ! The food was meh, definitely not up to the rave reviews we had heard for Honey Pig. Spicy Pork bulgogi was the highlight of the BBQ, Kalbi was pretty good, and definitely don't order the Chicken. AYCE BBQ is $20/person, but unless you want to leave with the meat sweats, a Small or Medium combo will probably be sufficient. We were most disappointed to find they hadn't worked out their liquor license just yet... how can you have Korean BBQ without soju or beer? Fortunately, there's a mini-mart next door that sells beer.... BYOB! The owners seem super nice but I wouldn't make the trek back to Tacoma for a second round of this - there is much better Korean BBQ to be had around town.

The place was clean and atmosphere was pleasant from the moment you walk in. The waitresses were at your service (which is hard to find in a Korean restaurant)! My favorite was all you can eat BBQ. The entire family ate, ate, and ate... The side dishes were yummy and never ending as well. I am going back for sure!

Excellent food and excellent service! I went with my husband and 2 little children. We ordered the combo A BBQ and they brought some extra bowls of rice and radish soup for our little ones as well. Our server kept checking to make sure we were all set and was very nice to our children as well. The food was excellent and our server cooked all our meat when we go out to Korean BBQs and cut them up for us which was a huge plus for me. I usually end up spending way so much cooking and cutting the meat that it almost becomes a chore for me especially since we go out to eat so I won't have to cook! We've tried almost all the Korean restaurants in the Tacoma area and Gangnam BBQ is definitely our best!!!

Was a little disappointed to find out that Honey Pig sold this place only cause there isn't a single decent all-I-can-eat Korean BBQ place up north, so I thought this place was going to the dumps. Still working out the newness, this place is very understaffed and has yet to get their liquor license (so, no beer), but the food is much better than anything in North Seattle and the owner and (I'm assuming) his wife are kind. Middle of the road banchan (side dishes) and the complimentary soybean soup is fairly good. All around, I'll assume they'll find their nitch and ramp up the service, so first visit, I've decided I'll be back.

I went here for the all-you-can-eat deal and I must say, it is a great bargain. The meat, the sides and the soup all tasted great. There weren't a lot of people and so the service was good. I will definitely stop by again when in town.

  • Rich S.

Barbecue some serious plates of meat at your table, devour, and more meat appears! Delicious and filling, you may not need to eat for days afterward. The panchan (kimchi, vegetables, etc.) are tasty, and the non or less meaty dishes are fine alternatives for the veggie-leaning diners. But if you're here for the bbq, then prepare to enjoy yourself immensely.

This place is mediocre at the most. The interior is definitely nice and welcoming. Its a bit pricey but the food was satisfying. Korean BBQ is one of my favorites and its a really simple style of cuisine so its difficult to screw up. Theres a few other establishments in the area that offers the same level and quality of Korean BBQ for a better price. I would recommend this for people who are looking for family style dinners and a relaxing atmosphere.

I'm digging the new management. We'll make a drive out to Tacoma when we're in the mood for some good kbbq. The service is great, always attentive. The all you can eat bbq is 19.95/person and you can pretty much order anything. Can't go wrong with pork belly, kalbi, brisket and spicy pork. If you're in the area, this is definitely a must try. Never tried it when it was honey pig but hopefully it stays Gangnam for a while!

  • C W.

Food was outstanding. Six in our party & we all ordered different dishes. Everything was Great! Banchan all fresh and tasty! Gentleman (maybe owner?) at front register was so nice and helpful. Very personable. My ONLY complaint (& not that big of a deal really) was out server did not return after our food was served. We flagged her down to ask for refill on our water and more kimchi. We did get the water. Anyway, they WERE pretty busy and the nice man up front more than made up for it! We'll definitely be back!!!

If you've never had Korean BBQ before this is a great place to start! We went for the first time several months ago and when the waitress heard it was our first time she took such good care of us! She explained what all the sides were, showed us how to cook all the different meats and suggested some different combinations of meat, seasonings and wraps which was fantastic because we didn't even know where to start! She made us feel right at home and like we were family - a great way to establish repeat customers! Not only have we been repeat customers several times since, but we've introduced a lot of other people to this place which is now their favorite as well. A fun, interactive experience with great food and fantastic service - what's not to like?

This place had an awesome coupon deal, and well, everyone's doing it Gangnam style, so K-BBQ might as well too. The pan chan was fine, but they stayed on top of the replacement, so that was a plus. We ordered brisket and spicy pork Can't really go wrong with brisket, yum. The pork was a mediocre grade, but seasoned fine. They still keep the salad style lettuce, instead of the traditional lettuce wrap, and soup service was included. The soup was tasty! There were some highlights and some pedestrian qualities, so overall this place is fine, but with the coupon, I could bump it up to a 3.5. I have to agree with a previous review, the wife and husband combo are very friendly.

Went for the 1st time thinking it was Honey Pig. Arrived there and just found out it was a new place now. All I got to say is Great customer service, reasonable price, good foof and clean place. I would come again.

It use to be better when is was called Honey Pig, now the food doesn't taste the same and price has gone up! Services is the worst.

Great dinner experience with our friends! Atmosphere is wonderful with booths and service was incredibly friendly and timely. We had the all you can eat dinner and I have the plan to try the bibimbap next. The food was fresh and more than any one human being should eat given all the korean sides. We will definitely be back

Food was tasty and good portions. It was fun introducing friends to KBBQ. Equivalent to Honey Pig. Did feel rushed when the waitress would pile more meat on the grill whenever she walked by and seen it empty or half full. We were trying to take our time. I could see if there was a wait or a full house but that was not the case. You may want to ask for a extra pair of tongs. So that you have one for handling raw meats and one for cooked meats. Had a great time and food was great too. Can't wait to return.

Not bad. Chose this BBQ because of the 50% off coupon. Tasty, but not the best we've had.

  • Steven L.

One of the best all-you-can-eat Korean bbq in town. The sides are pretty good and the meat is of good quality (as good as you can get for an all-you-can-eat). The service is great, even when it is busy. The only bad part, and the reason why I didn't give it a 4 star, is that they didn't have their liquor license figured out. I hope they fixed it since Christmas...!

  • Debbie B.

Food was good, service was kind of off and we were there before the dinner crowd and they forgot a few things here and there. Overall, would still go there because of the food.

This is for the non-cook at your table portion of the restaurant...food took forever, they only cook la Kalbi at the kitchen, both the hot and mild soon do bu were the same level of spicy, and the nang myun came after all the food had been eaten...we waited 30 min before getting pan chans and forgot about the nang myun by the time it arrived...failures abound

Great food and you get to cook it right in front of you! I love going out to eat and living in Seattle provides many amazing options, however; I would make the trip to Lakewood to check this place out. The food is only the beginning of the experience, the waitstaff were very attentive, the grill at the table is a ton of fun and it all added to the conversations with a solid group of friends. This was my first Korean BBQ experience and I am ready to go back time and time again. We did the all you can eat, ordered sake and soju and left very satisfied!

Kimchi Jjigae here is so good! The interior is nice and they have good customer service. The owner came over several times to ask me if my Neng Myung didn't taste good because I didn't finish it. But actually I was too full eating the BBQ meat ;) From the BBQ my favorites were the Tong Galbi and the JooMuLuk!

I've been wanting to go here for awhile since Honey Pig was my favorite Korean restaurant in Tacoma. I was disappointed with the service. When I walked in, the owner was talking to other customers and shortly seated them afterwards. No one came back to the front for about 5 minutes. I craved Korean BBQ from the grill so asked to be seated at the grill. My friend showed up a little later and wanted something off the grill. Apparently, you can't use the grill unless two people order off the grill menu. I thought that was annoying because not only could I not order from the grill, they moved us to the other side of the restaurant for the non-grill side. My friend ordered the dolsot bibbimbap (Hot Stone Mixed Rice) and I got the dwehji boolgogi (Spicy Pork). The food and side dishes were good, but the waitress never came to check on us or refill our side dishes. I noticed they have party rooms which is cool, but I wonder how well they're service would be for a party. I have a feeling that the service might have been better in the grill section since they would check up to see if we needed more meat. I would only come back here to order off the grill... We'll see when that will happen.

We were fairly unimpressed, especially considering this place came with pretty good reviews. We had the all you can eat BBQ, 2 adults and 3 kids. Service was relatively prompt, but very impolite, especially toward the end of our visit where they started getting downright rude. They even turned off the burner and hood before we were done cooking and without asking if we were done ordering! The chicken was supremely sub par, rubbery and without flavor. In fact, the only things worth eating were the brisket and the pork bulgogi (which, truth be told, I didn't really like, but my husband and oldest child did). The shrimp was horrible! The sauce served was only okay, I had to mix with soy sauce to cut the strong vinegar flavor, and the soup was so bad, my husband didn't even want to try it after catching a whiff. I had to order every single thing individually: garlic, jalapeños, another set of tongs, bean paste, soy sauce, sriracha, etc etc. I have gone to several Korean BBQ establishments and NEVER had to order each and every single thing. We definitely won't be returning.

Went to have dinner with friends and I have no idea why I thought it was a good idea. Ruined my life, well not my life... I'll live but the shit sucked! All you can eat $20. Ate $4 worth. First off the Place was FILTHY dirty. I'm sure rats made a home in the back of the restaurant . Yes it was that bad. So you see I ordered the all you can eat special.... Oh man was I in for a treat as I did not get all I can eat. Service took way too long as I feel they wanted me to sit and lose my appetite so I couldn't get the full treat of "all you can eat". I had to ask multiple times to multiple different waitresses for some more food. Left hungry and upset. I'm a 100 pound girl, don't need much but damn they were stingy. The food tasted bland, defiantly needed hot sauce with everything I ate for some flavor. Will not go back. I suggest you spend your money elsewhere. Sucks that I had to even give them a 1 star, no option of anything less. Bad bad bad. STAY AWAY.

We chose the cham bbq at first because that's the first good suggestion that Google gave us. As soon as we arrived , we were so disappointed because they said they couldn't take us because the place has been booked. So we decided to come the Gangnam BBQ & I had a great date night with my husband at this place. I don't know what's up w/ the negative comments but I think their service was great. We were greeted right away as soon as we walked in and as soon as we were seated, the server came to say hi & ask us for the drink. The food was pretty good. Well the joomuluk is kinda decent. Our favorite was Beef bulgogi. Will be back here. :)

Man, I really wanted to love this place, especially after reading the reviews about how tasty the food was and the quality of the meat. To my surprise, this place was no where near what I had expected. The all you can eat buffet is $19.99 but they don't serve all the meat that you'd find in other places, or even on their own menu. My all time favorite is kalbi ()... How is that NOT served as part of the buffet? SMH. That alone, made me want to walk out and drive down to Palace, but we decided to at least give the place a try. The meat is definitely seasoned differently. The bulgogi () didn't have enough flavor; it was super sugary... Sweet meat. Most times, I'd be okay with that but it lacked umph. The chicken tasted good but by the 3rd bite, I wanted to throw it away. You can't really go wrong with the beef or the pork; they aren't seasoned so the grill gives it the taste you want. The service was a bit slow and the important things were forgotten... And by imporatant, I mean they forgot to give us our rice. Lol. The ladies were friendly and came around a couple of times to take over the grill or bring us additional servings. The side dishes were extremely small. They literally put 3 small potatoes in a dish and called it a day. I'm not a fan of this place and probably won't be back but on a side note, if you are one of those people that are all about the ambiance, I would say the lobby is extremely cute and the set up is pretty standard to the places you'd find in Korea. Don't come with more than 4 people... As I looked around, there is only one grill per table regardless if you are eating for 2, 4, 6 or 8.

I just relocated to Tacoma from Seattle for a few months, and I'm really excited to eat my way around town. One of my first orders of business was to locate some good Bibimbap. I saw the reviews on this place and thought I'd give it a go. First time's a charm. The food was excellent. The service was nice (although I'm rather minimal when it comes to waiting - I don't need someone waiting on me hand and foot while I eat). The waitress even recommended a decent Korean beer! The restaurant/bathroom was clean; it was a nice atmosphere.

Excellent experience! I had korean bbq all you can eat tonight and it was absolutely amazing. The food and service were top notch especially for how busy they were. The staff were always on there feet and serving customers. The bbq was great. All you can eat for under $20 was great but the quality of meat was what surprised me. The side dishes were also very good and a nice spread. The atmosphere reminded me of being back in Korea. Very traditional korean decor. You can even sit in a traditional korean room for dinner. Overall great experience would recommend for anyone who wants great Korean food.

Service was not great at all. We waited at the front to be seated while diners awkwardly looked at us. When a waiter finally noticed we were seated. The food was mediocre what do you expect from a place that serves ayce as well as regular menu items. We must have been the only one eating from the ayce menu because we received the worst service. Everyone else around us seemed to have ordered from their regular menu. We asked for more broccoli for the banchan which is supposed to be unlimited everywhere it's a side dish, but we were told they didn't have anymore. So we were okay with that until a few minutes later my husband noticed the waiter bringing out broccoli banchan for another customer. So why were we told there wasn't anymore, but you are serving it to another customer?? Will not be returning to this place. Horrible experience. So how do you explain when we asked for more broccoli that we were told there weren't any more, but other customers where getting it? This place is full of excuses for bad reviews. Look we went in expecting good service and good food. Instead we left disappointed with both and now you are trying to tell me that we went in wanting to point out bad things about the restaurant. Wow!! Excuse you, but I write honest reviews and if you can't take an honest review that's your problem. I like giving places 5 stars that deserve it and this is not a place that deserves it at all!! You just confirmed that with your comment.

Never go back again nothing to said horrible service I pay for all you can eat after they give us 2 players of beef they give us bill right away even we haven't finish our of food. Also we need ask for water, we order some side dishes at the time the waitress she bring out the food what chewing our of food and said it's good cause like she try it..

I loved their BBQ chicken and beef. The taste is very authentic. I had a recipe from a Korean couple and I cooked it for my TV show. The food at this restaurant tastes just like the recipe I had gotten for the meat. The rice is nice and sticky. The fried rice was good too. I serve my rice with seaweed crackers but I didn't notice any seaweed crackers here though that doesn't make a difference in giving this place 5 stars. The service was hospitable and welcoming. Surprisingly people of all ethnic backgrounds are patrons of this establishment. It was a warm and diverse place. I would suggest coming here for your event, a date, or just a special outing. It was $19.95 all you can eat for 1 person, or $13.95 for the BBQ chicken entree. I will be back!

I think the marinated meats keep getting better and better! What a great experience today. I'll say this my dad can be very picky, and he commented on how much he really liked the taste of everything. I think I'm a customer for life!

Totally awesome! The BBQ surpassed expectations. They bring a ton of side dishes that compliment the food. They also serve salad and soup with the meal. The portion sizes were great and the BBQ was marinated in several different sauces. The meal came with several types of meat and each one had a unique flavor. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. It was so good on our first visit that we went back the next night and ordered nearly the same thing. Highly recommend.

I have been a repeat offender to this delightful restaurant. They offer quality dishes, not just the BBQ itself. The meals taste like they are cooked by someone's Korean grandma and exactly what I wanted! I don't want a place that is catered to the typical GL, but for customers that miss that taste of home. You don't get that unless you're eating at someone's house or at Gangnam BBQ. To any Malaysians or Singaporeans living in the area, this is a really great tasting Korean BBQ place! They have all you can eat, the meats are marinated or non, their mandoo soup was amazing, kimchi is like what I would make, and just amazing quality stuff. Very limited options in terms of meat, but that is okay because they make up for it in cut quality. The ssamgyeopsal is not just fat, and their marinade is not loaded with sugar. The owner is super friendly, and his wife is too. No this does not make me biased as I do tend to stop and chat with people who tend to my food. Generally speaking, this makes them more inclined to give YOU a better experience at their dining establishment. I think this place offers Military Discount too. I can't wait to go back for my next special occasion!

I didn't like Palace BBQ due to the lack of service and the place was old and a little dirty. So my husband and I tried Gangnam BBQ. This place is cleaner but again there was a lack of service. The owner had her little puppy with her. Cute but I'm pretty sure that is a health violation. The chicken came slimy. Yuck. The marinated meat was delicious and of course the pork belly was great. Will I go back? No. Third try is a charm. Next time I'm going to Cham BBQ. HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE A GREAT EXPERIENCE.

Pros: quality of meat in the first serving Cons: Poor service. An older waitress served our table of 5. We constantly ran out of side dishes, salad and meat as she was "busy." There was maybe 10 people in the whole restaurant with two servers. Part of going to a AYCE (all you can eat) KBBQ is to not only eat unlimited meat, but also to eat good side dishes. The portions of side dishes were laughable (serving size for maybe one person) for our group of 5 people. We asked for a refill of side dishes, sauces, salad, and drinks and each time the waitress was so rude about hearing our request. The fourth time we asked, she scoffed at us, "Again?! This is fourth time!" We wouldn't need so many refills if you gave us appropriate serving sizes. The quality of meat degrades after the first serving, i.e., they started to bring out frozen meat. I highly suggest you go to another KBBQ place in the area or in Federal Way. I certainly will not be returning.

I'll be honest with you, I didn't care for this place. I went here for the first time with a bunch for my co-workers for a going away dinner for one of them. The Korean BBQ table we were seated at was large yet, it only had one grill... One tiny little grill plate at the farthest side of the table. It was awkward, I'm not sure if the other tables are like this or just the one they sat us at. Service was really slow... it was 630pm on a Friday night and it wasn't busy but our waiter didn't come around until like 10 minutes. She then attempted to take down our order without writing it down (We had a party of 8 people). Then she also got angry halfway through when she found out only half of us would eat the Korean BBQ, the other half of is decided to try the prepared dishes. She left and it was another very long wait, our food arrived one at a time. She had our orders wrong. She was raising her voice to another lady when she realized that they messed up. After we settled with food, we never saw the waiter again. We had to ask another lady for refills for our water. Poor older lady, she refilled our water, spilled ice and water on one side, then she came around and poured water into someone's Sprite. It made for entertainment but it still was the worst service I've ever experienced. We never saw our original waiter again. We had to stop someone for a to-go box (this time an older man - I think the owner). What a mess. The facility is large, they do have private rooms for parties where you sit traditional style on the floor (which I think it pretty cool). They have a dining area and a separate area for Korean BBQ. It was okay. I had bimbimbap (sp?) for the first time which was pretty good but needed more flavor and seasoning. Fried rice was delicious. I don't like the controlled version of Korean BBQ, I prefer the buffet style where you grab what you want and take it to your station. Here you have to ask for a refill for your meats (if you can get the attention of a staff member.). I won't be visiting this place again. I recommend going elsewhere but that decision my friends, is up to you!! I spoke my part. Thanks for reading.

Updated review from my last one regarding the comment the owner left me-- To be clear, the waitress was very courteous. She was not the one eating from a table across us while we were dining. She was not the one to help us. Yes, we might have been almost done with our cooking. But you don't pull a waitress away to tell them that we don't need any help. Plus there was only one other table and they were almost done also. Okay even if the review was "out of rage", if you really want your business, you don't say those things. I will never return to this restaurant or recommend it to anyone.

We have a good experience with this place. Service is great. The place was busy but they took the time to stop by and helped cook the meat. Atmosphere is great. The food is good too. The meat seems to be well seasoned and taste great. I tried the baby octopus and it tasted great too. The only complaint I have is the shrimp. They didn't "cleaned" them meaning didn't cleaned the turd out. You'll have to clean them by yourself. Overall, I would come back and eat at this place again.

Great meat to barbecue. They're running a sweet deal of all you can eat for only $19.99...I don't eat too much so we just got some bulgogi and Kalbi meats

Hope to return again some day!

I went to this restaurant with a group of 6 people and we were able to get a table promptly. The food was excellent and the service was okay, simply because the waitress seemed to be overwhelmed, even though we were the only table on that side of restaurant; we sat on the side where they didn't have individual's grills. Also the lights on our side of the restaurant turned off midway through our meal and were never turned back on. Fortunately Gangnam BBQ has natural light coming in that it didn't really affect us, but I do hope they were able to turn them on for their evening customers. In regards of its authenticity for Koren food, my group consisted of individuals who've lived in Korea and they very much enjoyed their meals as well and stated that it was authentic Korean food.

I have never written a review, nor did I ever plan to. I enjoy reading them to get an idea of a place though. Although after eating here, I can say I am truly disappointed with the service. I'm not one to complain much, especially cause I have worked in the food industry for some time now. We went for my best friends birthday dinner after a hike, hungry of coarse lol. The lady seemed nice, and displayed good customer service at first. All the side dishes were bright to the table immediately, and after the 10 of us had all ordered the "all you can eat" Korean bbq special they had, the plate of meat was brought out right away. Now, with having that display of "speed if service" I was under the impression that they would be right on top of things. That changed quickly after cooking all the meat, and still having a table of hungry people. We asked for the meat at least 3 times waiting 10-15 minutes with nothing on the grill, and that's when I finally grabbed the plate and went towards the kitchen going they would be able to help me there better...FINALLY they were able to hand me a plate of food. Threw that on the grill and again we waited. While we were there we had all together 2 regular size plates of meat, one small plate of meat, two tiny plates of seafood (6 shrimp, 3 baby octopus). Now I don't know how much everyone else eats, but for 8 adults and two growing 10 year old, that is no where near enough food, especially since we were there for 3 hours just waiting most of the time for someone to acknowledge our presence. Most of us left hungry (which is kind off stupid) considering we paid for an all you can eat Korean bbq. Lol. If the owners wouldn't have been so damn stingy, I would have come back for dinner another time because I did enjoy what food I did get to taste. Over all, it was a horrible experience, and a waste of over $200, especially cause we paid for food we did not get! Soooo if you like to spend a decent amount of money to eat Korean bbq just to leave hungry; this is the place to go... this place is a fucking joke! I'm still hungry!!

Um... how do I put this, lifer? LOL, me and my dude come here prolly once a month. We always get the same thing, all you can eat. We love the rotating side dishes and the staff. Perfect place to set aside any diet and get your grub on!!!

Less is more! This place is the place to go for authentic korean food in the Tacoma area!

My experience compared to two years ago was horrible!! Their meat had no taste. I spent $20 and literally got $5 of my money's worth. The owner here is too cheap! I went home right after eating and had home made brisket and that tasted wayyy better. If you want some Korean BBQ, the trip to Federal way is worth it than eating here and paying money for their food and service. There are couple of all you can eat places in Fed Way that is way better than Gang nam

What a great place to bring the family! I brought a party of 8 and was pleased to be seated in a private section with my friends and family. The layout, lighting and ambiance made it great for barbecuing together and we were all able to chat. We started with salad greens and a boiling pot of doenjang jigae, which was out of this world! We also were served some banchan as well. We were really hungry so we quickly gobbled up the initial batch. But, no worries, the owner refilled us at no charge. He said that is a little known policy. Then came the meat! We ordered 2 of the Marinated Combo C's with a couple of sides of haemul pajeon (seafood pancakes) and japchae (clear vermicelli noodles with bulgogi, spinach and sesame oil). The meat was lightly marinated and perfectly complemented everything else that we ordered. You cook it at your table. So, you truly get the sizzle with your steak. I also appreciated that they offer soju, ob, hite and cass. Cass is actually my favorite Korean beer and pairs perfectly with spice. My family had a wonderful time, my palate was fulfilled and my stomach was quite full. I can't wait to get hungry again so that I can bring my family and do it all over again!

Legit Korean food. I lived in Korea for 8 years. No complaints here and Gil, the owner, is a cool guy. Thumbs up!

Great food and service! We met friends there for dinner. They helped us with all our food needs. We did not have to wait for anything.

So service was horrible. First of all, no one walked us to our table and just pointed us to a table to sit down. Secondly, we weren't given any menus. The party across from us came in right after us, was walked to their table, given menus and got their food right away while we were still waiting unnoticed with no menus. Food was alright had better. Won't come back again. That is all

Delicious and authentic. Have been to Korean barbeque before, ironically at a place called the Honey Pig in Las Vegas, and this place matches it pound for pound easily. They keep the meat coming and I had more tastiness than I could easily consume. Price was right too. A little gem in a suburban strip mall, a situation that is thankfully becoming more and more common as we move into the 21st century.

Family and I come here often, but for whatever reason the service today was subpar for the money we spend there. Food is always top quality(to me, anyway) and the manager always recognizes us and is always polite. We had 2 servers waiting on us and we got the feeling one of them was not in her happy place. If the manager is reading this, sir, it was the lady who rang up our check at the counter. I'm sure you will recognize my picture on this account. This is the second time she seemed to have an attitude on her shoulder. I won't bore anyone with the details, but she is a little too aggressive and didn't seem to enjoy her work today. My instinct told me to confront the situation with management, but felt it was just better to leave it alone until now. We had also asked her if we could take the leftover soup home and she refused, yet the server at the next table let them take their leftover meat. Sounds like 2 sets of standards. I think we will be looking for another Korean BBQ for awhile. Again, the manager is a great person and the food is just the best, but all it takes is one server to mess it up for all.

Went with all you can eat Korean BBQ for four of us. We killed it with 2 hours of eating and fun. Awesome food and great experience.

Meh!!!! Average korean restaurant Nothing particularly stands out!!! Price is bit expensive for its food quality and quantity. Have not tried the unlimited BBQ. I was not really please with this place because of lack of service and care. So be aware of this category. So-so for this restaurant's recommendation

My friend's family owned Honey Pig (previous business) and that place was pretty good. Came here with my family on Christmas. Made reservations for 10 people a week in advance though. I requested two grills due to the number of people and the owner agreed. Customer service was top notch, meat quality above average. I can't remember our server's name but she was probably the best server I've ever seen at an AYCE KBBQ establishment. My mom would physically get up and bug our server for more banchan and whatever and most servers would get annoyed, but this female server handled the situation (my mom) professionally. I tipped her accordingly. There was a mix-up with the bill where we got charged for a different table, but that was resolved quickly by the owner. Would recommend this place and come again.

Based on the postive Yelp, we decided to visit this place. The price is pretty expensive (19.95) compared to other places, but I think its fairly worth it. Customer service here is outstanding as for a Korean place. Food is decent. I quite like the bulgogi and the pork neck here as the marinated sauce is very tasty and the meat is very soft and tender. However, if comparing the food here and Cham Garden which is only 0.5 mile away, I still think Cham has better selection and meat quality with a cheaper price. Nevertheless, at this place, you got a very nice interior decoration with excellent customer service. So I would say Gangnam and Cham are equal in terms of the points. Gangnam has better marinated items while I recommend Cham for the non-maritated ones (pork belly, brisket, etc) and intestines!

Every time I come here with my family or friends they are always very polite, and ordering the all you can eat is always the way to go with Korean BBQ. They have a slightly different selection than another smaller all you can eat Korean BBQ down the street, but meat selection, other than the staples is typically up to personal preference. The quality is always good and fresh. I like eating here with groups because they bring your meat out to you and the other smaller place down the street can only accommodate tables of 4 and you have to get up and get your own meats. This place is slightly more pricy than the other place but it is well worth the extra money. If you eat here you can't go wrong!

Horrible service and really expensive. Every time we would ask the server for something she would walk away and never come back. We ordered all you can eat , by the time we were done and wanted more they rufused to give us some more. NEVER going back there ever again. Keep this in mind when you think of going there its not worth the price.

Gangman style right? Still giggling about the name but it makes sense, since it's hot right now why not follow the trend eh? Grabbed some grub with the ladies and had the brisket and spicy pork, can't really go wrong with either. Spicy pork was seasoned well. Our server can back often to assist in the queing of the meat which was nice so we could focus on our convos more than worry about the meat overcooking. Pan chans were good and refilled as needed. All the usual fixings, lettuce, bean paste etc. They did offer a tasty soup which was nice as well. They owners and workers were super nice, you can tell they are trying to build a clientele of repeat customers. I would come and try again, just to ensure this place is legit.

I.love.this.place . The absolute best korean customer service. Koreans are known for being extremely rude in restaurants but not here! Everyone is so kind and accommodating. Truly a breath of fresh air. The owner is very nice and personal too. And now their food. Absolutely love love love their food. My friends and I live in seattle but we always drive down to Tacoma to gangnam for kbbq. And literally everyone I take their is converted :) Koreans, Americans, and Russians alike. We all love it so much. I cannot emphasize enough how much I apprecIate their excellent customer service.

Soooooooo good! The food here is spectacular and is up to par with the AYCE beef and leaf joints in Korea! Finally a place I feel like it was worth the money. We have gone to two other popular places on the same street and this place is the closest to what you would get in Korea. I also love the fact that they have the traditional room where you sit on the floor. The waitresses were beyond friendly and service was top notch. Things were refilled quickly, unlimited spread of fresh banchan, and they even came by to cook for us! The marinades for the meat were perfect and tables are BIG. A good place for a big group outing. I am kicking myself for not coming here sooner, now that I am on a vegetarian diet. Another plus is that they give military discounts ;-) will be back if I fall off the wagon....

Update in response to the owner: As I've mentioned in my initial review, it was not busy at all. There was a total of 2 other tables occupied and a total of 5 patrons. They seem to get the wait staff's attention fairly easy without even asking for it. At certain times, there was even casual conversation between the wait staff (a total of 2) and the other tables, in which I had to raise my hand to get their attention to request some water for my daughter. And I ordered what was listed on the menu as buffet style meat servings with a lot of the choices of meats in the list being omitted from the service plate when served. So I think your restaurant is just as buffet style as the other ones I mentioned. I applauded your ambition for being the "best Korean restaurant" in Tacoma; but u must understand that Gangnam BBQ is quite far away from meeting that goal.

By far the nicest Korean BBQ I've been to there very respectful and not in your face compared to others and it reminds me of the places I use to go to while in korea you don't get much more authentic and ethnic then this

I had their all you can eat BBQ and while it was decent you can definitely get better just up the road. The staff was rude and took forever to bring us anything we needed. They only bring you a few selections of meat compared to Chams up the road, where they offer a more buffet style selection of meats and sides for less money. The meat was less flavorful then what I was expecting, though the eggs rolls were quite good. I don't think well be back. I've been back since my original review and I must say the owner is pretty nice, I still prefer Chams but this place is a good back up especially if you're with a big group.

Took friends family out for dinner (six people). We had all you can eat BBQ and some Soju. At Gangnam BBQ I thought I was in Korean and having BBQ. I have to say it was really good and did not let me down. If you have big group or family. I would say go eat there!

This place must be under new management after honey pig! As for Korean BBQ in Tacoma, you won't go wrong by picking Gangnam. Good quality of meats that are marinated and cook onyour table. The customer service is noted to be friendly. The price reasonable and they will continue to fill your dishes. "Just ask for them" THey are pretty tasty and fresh side dishes.

Best Korean restaurant in Tacoma! Coming from a Korean it means something. I've lived in Tacoma my whole life and have to say this place is one of the best. There are a few others in Korea town but IF you want good food and a welcoming atmosphere go to this restaurant.
