Warthog Barbeque Pit Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The Warthog has become a tradition for my ex-hunting partner and me. A former Tacoman, he now comes all the way from his home on the Big Island of Hawaii to meet me there at least annually. I trek all the way down I-5 from Bothell on the other side of Seattle. (Watch the speed trap cameras as you make the turn into 20th.) The Warthog Barbecue is about as comfortable as your favorite old pair of shoes. The décor is rustic, a fake log cabin exterior, mounted animal heads, and things like a mirror mounted on a horse collar in the unisex bathroom. When you walk in the door the aroma wafting from the kitchen will make you hungry. The menu will quickly take care of that. It's rich and varied, but remember this is a barbecue. You are not going to find fillet of sole amandine or a Negroni cocktail either. What you are going to find is a wide choice of excellent, richly flavored barbecue offerings, ribs, pulled pork tacos, slow smoked prime rib and ditto smoked chicken, salmon, turkey or Kobe beef burgers, dished up in generous servings. My partner and I both opted for their Reuben Sandwich piled high with a thick layer of perfectly smoked brisket, but not on the pumpernickel mentioned in another review. This brisket was sandwiched between slabs of marbled bread. It was a far cry from a classic Jewish Reuben, which is ordained to be on Jewiish white rye, with corned beef brisket, sauerkraut and Russian dressing, none of which made an appearance in the Warthog version, except for the sauerkraut. Despite that it was a delicious sandwich on its own, especially paired with a cold Corona Extra beer or two. One of the things I like best about my lunch at the Warthog besides the company of a beloved friend, was the service provided by the young women who man? girl? the counter. They were friendly, quick, helpful and beaming with cheerfulness. Thanks Warthog. You do it right.

Almost a year to the date from the last time we were here. I had the BBQ turkey Sandwhich again, it was pretty dry this time. Fries are still good. The boyfriend had the pulled pork Sandwhich with potato salad. Which came to about 2 bites of salad. And his pork Sandwhich hardly had meat or BBQ sauce. For his dish, it came down to portions. Their just off. We really want to like this place, don't get us wrong. We are always in the neighbor hood.

While I believe The Warthog is good for Washington BBQ, it doesn't touch the south. Portion sizes are large other than the pies. For $4 a slice I thought they would be bigger although they are homemade. . I have had the pork, ribs, brisket, chicken, burgers and sides. The baked beans are by far the best. Definitely handmade because they have had varying degrees of spice. Chicken is moist although it's covered in sauce that I would prefer on the side. The cornbread is soft and sweet. Burgers were cooked as requested. Wish sweet potato fries were offered as a side and not a appetizer. Service is usually good, sometimes the woman behind the counter is short. Be mindful to-go orders never take the time they state, always longer. Had a gift card for $30, spent all but under $3 and the cashier took our gift card. It's definitely worth trying anyways. I enjoy the sauce and my husband loves the sweet tea!

We hired Warthog BBQ to cater our annual July BBQ. The food was to be served at 3:00 so they were to arrive at 2:30 for the set up. At 2:30 they were not here so I called and after some confusion on their end they finally told me that "Oops sorry we forgot". Mind you I have a signed contract and I have already paid for this event! I have 50 very hungry people to feed so what do they suggest I do? They said they would throw together a BBQ dinner and be there as soon as possible. Throw together a BBQ dinner? They also said that they would give me a $100 gift certificate to their restaurant. I told them that was not acceptable and I wanted at least a $100 credit back to my credit card. They finally arrived at 5:00 and half of our guests had already left. I spoke to Gary, the owner, numerous times about my refund which I have NEVER received. DO NOT HAVE THEM CATER ANYTHING FOR YOU!

AWESOME FOOD!!! I can't believe i have lived in this area so long and never went there. The staff, expecially Theresa, is REALLY great!!! The pulled pork sandwich is the best!!

I first ate here within a month after it first opened & I have been eating here ever since. I have tried all the other barbeque places in the area & this one is my favorite. I used to eat at the Caveman Kitchen on a regular basis before this place opened. There are probably thousands of sauce recipes out there & the Warthog makes the best!!! I really enjoy the ribs & chicken with the beans, coleslaw, & cornbread. Their buffalo burgers are also great. I recommend this place to everybody.

This would be my first official BBQ joint I've ever eaten at. The brisket and ribs were money. I didn't care so much for the sausage. It will be a regular stop for me while visiting family that lives in the area.

We stopped in here for lunch. I ordered the brisket which was tender. More then I can say about 75% of the other bbq joints. Cool log building. Only problem is it is small. I just felt congested ordering and eating. They also need to have some micros on tap not just a bottle selection. Nice to swing in right off the freeway.

When we got there the place was EMPTY at 1pm on a weekday. I thought great but within 10 minutes at least 20 people had come in and ordered. After reading all the reviews, I decided to go with the pulled pork sandwich (ok - not a huge pork fan and love my swimming in BBQ sauce, which I had to go find and put on myself). I really liked the BBQ sauce. The sweet, salty fries were actually quit addicting. The beans were good but odd - HUGE pieces of ham hock and onions. Corn bread excellent. The restaurant was cute - they do their log cabin theme well inside and out. It was $14 for me and the little one. I definitely want to go back and try the brisket (it's probably what I should have ordered to begin with) and some different sides. It was 1000x better than 3 pigs (and way more reasonably priced for the quality and the quantity).

As a stop between BC and Portland initially just to refill petrol, this place was quite an unexpected find. Other than the one sign that got my attention as we took the off ramp from I-5, we had no additional clues how to find this place, which is buried in an industrial park. Turns out it was worth the effort to look for it! I agree w/the 3.5 cumulative rating on this one, and give the push to 4 stars for down to earth, friendly service. It wasn't busy when we stopped in, and it did seem to take quite a while to get our orders. Fortunately, it was well worth the wait. We both ordered the daily special, the BBQ chipotle Reuben (the very idea intrigues, ey?). We were both completely satisfied. The rye bread held up well and didn't become a soggy, unmanageable mess the way it so very often does w/Reubens. The kraut was crisp and tart and drew a nice contrast to the hot gooey cheese and plentious shreds o' brisket. The beef was a tad dry and not altogether smoky, and these are the only blemishes I could detect in an otherwise nearly flawlessly executed sandwich. VERY nicely done! The huge pickle spears and generous pile o' sweet potato fries easily finished off whatever tiny pockets of hunger pangs we still had after our Reubens. Seriously, those fries though--- crispy and crusty w/spice and flavor on the outside (but not too salty!), and light and fluffy on the inside w/o being greasy or flaccid or lifeless. I've never been a fry guy, but do enjoy the occasional sweet potato fries, and this was the best batch I've had in ages. For the sake of posterity as well as to ensure we didn't simply "make it all up" and convince ourselves we weren't simply hallucinating about the food here, we got a carry out sampler to enjoy later. The ribs were good--- fall off the bone tender and yet still moist but smokey. Their buffalo burger patty was tasty and not too dry (extra biggups to them for offering bison--which most places don't, and so far, the only place I know of in Portland that does Buffalo ribs and briskets is Campbell's, in SE). Their hot link, always a sampler item i look for, was as good as a no show, I'm sorry to report. The chicken, finally, I found to be dry and uneventful. The bean stew/ chili was excellent, a meal unto itself. I see it got high marks from many others in Yelp-Land, and consider this one more Plaudit. If you ever get thee to Fife, WA, check out Warthog, and DEFINITELY check out their chili----- as well as their chipotle reubens, if they happen to offer them on that particular day... Someday I'll pass this way again and when I do, I won't hesitate to spend some hard-earned moolah there @ Wart-hog. If you love BBQ, they are worth a try!

My boyfriend ordered the steak, and it was overcooked. The BBQ is just okay. Way overpriced.

Best bbq I have found in Washington!

  • Jay C.

They messed up my order and did not offer to fix it, blaming me for the mistake. This was not the first time. Most of their food tastes microwaved. I may not go back.

  • Amanda G.

Not impressed at all with this place! The woman with the face piercing behind the counter was very rude. This isn't the first time I've witnessed her snobby attitude. Kobe burger was extremely dry, I thought it was going to be worth spending $12 for a nice juicy burger. VERY disappointed. My boss ordered the quesadilla (which was $9 for only 3 small pieces, no sides) He really enjoyed the taste (That's why this review is getting two stars instead of one) but he was still left with a growling tummy **The young lady called and apologized for coming off in a rude manor. She didn't realize she was coming off that way, she was just really busy and trying to get orders out. I respect that and I simply gave her the advice to just put a smile on...it makes a world difference :)

Good service but the barbeque was just terrible.

Food is good, but just like Mikal W. said about the ribs, "However, they are pretty saucy and a lot more fat than meat." is 100% true. I think the sauce is really good though. Their roast beef dip is pretty good, but I think the bread is a little too sweet. The meat itself is pretty sweet. The service here is mixed. It was nice of them to serve our food to our table, and check up on us. Only thing I found it really annoying that with my meal, I could only choose between two sides; cloeslaw or potato salad. I don't like either of those choices. I tried to explain to the woman behind the counter last night that I don't like either and I would prefer a small side of greens. (I figured I could ask since they serve salads.) I was ignored and given a side of fries instead. (I didn't want fries either, since my friend was already getting fries and we wanted to share.) Could I have gotten an extra side of beans as my substitute of you couldn't give me a small salad? The world may never know... I won't review the cornbread since I'm not a fan of cornbread, but I liked the beans. The side of beans is pretty small compared to the portions of everything else.... If I come here again, I'm just going to do take out. I think I'd rather take my bbq business where I don't feel shot down for being kind of a picky eater....

  • Mark M.

They do a decent BBQ. Sometimes the meals aren't perfect, but most of the time you get tender ribs and meat, with good BBQ flare. Their take on beans different, and their cornbread are large wonderful squares. True they only have once sauce: their sauce. But they keep a hot pot of it out where the customers can scoop up as much of that hot yummyness they want. There is a separate building four feet from the main when their crowd reaches overflow or for folks who want a room for a gathering. I know there is a big screen tv in there for football parties and the like. My wife is a fan of the pulled sandwiches and I like the chicken and rib plate. Sometimes I take home leftovers and sometimes I just can't stop myself. My first choice for BBQ in the area.

  • Frank R.

I wanted some ribs and had to be in Fife so I got the a half rack of pork rib. Immediately I could see they were not really good BBQ ribs. More steamed with no visible sign of real wood smoke. The meat just fell off the bones due to over-steaming. No taste and worse, no texture. Just mushy rib meat. Having lived in the South and frequently visiting BBQ meccas like Kansas City, Memphis and Austin I am very sure these are nothing approaching real smoked BBQ ribs. Not even close.

    (1)
  • Simon P.

Ribs...a stack of cartilage swimming in some nasty BBQ sauce. Worst excuse for ribs that I have ever had at a restaurant. I found two small pieces of rib bones. It was like the took a rack, un-trimmed then cut it into two inch squares. I didn't see any smoke ring in the pieces that I had, after eating, I looked around back and I didn't see any stacks or smell any smoke indicating that they even BBQ at the site. Has to be the worst rib meal for $12.95. The sides were also skimpy servings.

The fries are great. So is the staff. Nice place. Good selection of beer.

  • Rich M.

Wow, if this is good BBQ I hate to taste the bad. Ugh this was horrible. My plate, the Cluck, Moo and Oink. was horrible. The brisket was dry and flavorless. The chicken quarter dry and charred. It was smoked like in a fire. Not smokey but smoke. And the ribs where more fat than meat. The beans where undercooked sand foul tasting. The bottom of my plate was a grease pool. My wife's special BBQ dip, was a slab of overcooked and dry brisket with some sauce on a french roll. Nothing to dip it in? for a dipped sandwich? A subed side of sweet potatoe fries at full side price was underwelming. My son's rib dinner was worse than mine, not kid friendly. The staff was too busy on the phone and talking in the back to take care of guests. Our togo food had sat on the counter for several minutes waiting for some one to hand it over. No plasticware, no napkins. Overall, we have had A LOT better but not much worse. Not planning on returning anytime soon.

I've tried the ribs, brisket, and one of the bison burgers. The ribs were good, the brisket was kinda good, and the bison burger was just aweful. So now I just go here for the ribs when ever im passing through Fife.

  • Garrett L.

Our work had this catered one day and I was amazed at how good the bbq was. The sides were "normal" but the BBQ was pretty fabulous. Of course, I didn't have to pay and I haven't seen their space, but anyway, the cooks/chefs know what they're doing! I wil probably have to check out their restaraunt.

You can tell Dixie's in Bellevue to go scr*w the man... go tell HD's in Kent to hang up their Hotspurs... better tell the Caveman that his BBQ is prehistoric... Let Tony know there's something rotten with the Roma's... best be telling that Rowdy Cowgirl to settle her ass down... Seattle's Hole in the Wall's gonna get all patched up and sure as hell tell Pecos that they are gonna have to try awfully hard to rise above their Pit.... because the best freaking BBQ west of the Mississippi is right here in Fife! Entrees under $10 bucks... sandwiches under $6 bucks... we're talking chicken, ribs, ham, brisket, turkey and their very own sausage. Trust me on the Warthog Sausage. The sides include chili, gumbo, coleslaw, corn bread, real potato fries, potato salad and nasty rice (its good trust me). I can't even begin to explain in detail why they do BBQ so damn well... but, what I can tell you is come hungry!

One of the lesser BBQ joints in town. BBQ brisket was dry and potato salid left a taste in my mouth. Would have rated 3 stars but very expensive for what you get. Drive 3 more miles to N. Tacoma and there are 2 highly rated BBQ establishments that are much better quality at far more reasonable prices.

Love it! Service is fast, indoor outdoor seating, portion size is generous & easy freeway access. Great BBQ!

Had the beef brisket sandwich not so good as the prime rib..

  • Julie F.

I thought the "cluck, moo and, oink" platter was delicious. Don't go without ordering the cornbread. I ordered the pulled pork another time, and I received the pulled pork sandwich. Make sure you specify which one you'd like. There definitely wasn't enough BBQ sauce on the sandwich. Other than that, it was okay. Best BBQ I've had in the northwest, but that isn't saying much.

    (3)
  • Tony G.

If I had the pulled pork, does that mean I had warthog? I thought the meat was excellent, the sauce was ok, and the fries were weird. They put a rub on the fries that had sugar on them. If I come here again, I would ask for fries sans sugar. Overall, pretty tasty sandwich which made me full for the whole day. And the meal was only $7.50. Zipzap Zubity Bop!

I came with high hopes, but was let down as soon as my brisket entree was placed in front of me. It was tough, dry, and had about a tablespoons worth of sauce on it. It wasn't smoked either, but tasted like it was done in a crock pot. They give you very little sauce as if it was there last of it, which was fine cause it was horrible any how. Pass this place by, you'd be happier with a McDonald's McRib (and I hate those).

  • Patrick W.

Meh. Pulled pork was 'wet' and soggy. No Brunswick stew? Baked beans? No, you get fries or Cole slaw/potato salad. I miss my Southern BBQ!

    (2)
  • Val I.

BBQ was EXCELLENT!!!!! Coleslaw was tasty and the bbq was finger licking good!!!! We will have to go back on the Friday nights or Saturday (I think) and try the bbq prime rib. Very interesting place to sit and enjoy some bbq.

  • Ross L.

We stopped by mainly out of proximity since we needed to go to the Costco Business during our lunch hour. The girl at the counter was peppy and friendly. I decided on the lunch special a brisket dip and my lunchmate had the brisket sandwich. The fries were hot and delicious and the pickle was nice and crunchy. That is the end of the good news. The brisket showed no sign of a smoke ring, no sign of any bark but the worst part was the texture. It was rubber. The brisket was clearly not cooked properly. This is the second time that the Warthog has disappointed me. The pitmaster needs to get some additional training on what good BBQ is. I won't be back.

    (1)
  • Chuck L.

I have to say that the quality of the BBQ meat was four stars, but the weird thing is that what was just ok was the BBQ SAUCE. And as you might imagine, the sauce is a big deal in BBQ. First thing I noticed when I sat down was that there was no sauce on the table. Just hot sauce. I had to ask for extra sauce which came in two little plastic sides cups. And this one sauce they offer was very plain and ordinary. So, to wrap up, good BBQ, but bring your own sauce.

  • Big A.

Based on several reviews I read I almost did not go here. I am glad I went! Overall it was pretty darn good. I had the slow cooked baby-back ribs, I'd say a solid 7.5 out of 10. Meat portions were generous ( and not fatty). The cornbread I had didn't have much flavor, that was the only disappointment. The other sides were good & all in all there was plenty of food. I plan on going back to try something else on the menu.

  • Jessica Z.

Tasty tasty! Cornbread and potato salad to die for..pretty yum yum chicken to. Close to the freeway if your drivin through the dirty south and feel like some good southern food stop by!

    BBQ-Joint-Smell? Check. Meat? A- Sauce: C+ Beans: Oh-hell-yeah-A+

  • Tammy K.

I didn't think this was bad at all. I had the ribs and chicken platter and I put most of it away. Whoever said that the chicken was like sawdust needs to get over themselves - mine was still tender and juicy with the perfect amount of sauce. The ribs did have some fat on them, but ya know what? Barbeque is not pretty, people. It's not supposed to be fat free, healthy, neat, clean, dainty, etc. It's pure carnivorous deliciousness that requires lots of napkins. I grew up in Texas and lived there for 20 years.....I know barbeque. This place is close by and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I like the fact that you pay in advance. The last thing I want after eating 50 lbs of meat is to sit around for 15 minutes paying the bill while it turns to lead weight in my stomach.

  • Clementine R.

Usually I like smoky, sweet and spicy bbq sauce, and theirs fits the category of slightly sweet only, but their genuine smoked meats make up for the bland sauce...instead of getting a "smoked" flavor in the sauce, it's in the meat, so it works out to be quite complimentary. I've been coming here for a few years, when the craving hits and I dare to venture off the freeway into Fife. My favorite is the beef brisket, sliced and lean, tender and smokey, served AMPLY with some rather interesting sides. The baked beans are not very sweet, mostly savory and filled with pork. They are good, though. You also get a HUGE chunk of cornbread with a side of honey butter, so you don't really need any of their decadent desserts, though my husband often indulges in the peanut butter pie, usually followed by a nap. My daughter is big on pork and says their ribs and pulled pork are the best she's had. The ambiance is very country rustic, and they play that up with a country music station booming while you dine. Not my cup of tea, but it doesn't lessen the pleasure of the food going down. Now you too can have a reason to go to Fife, Wa! (edited to correct spelling typo..haha from Lesson to lessen...ahhh, now that's better)

Have been wanting to come here for quite a while and finally made it today. After getting over some initial confusion on a couple menu choices with the new host (which was very gracious), we had a delightful experience topped only by the good eats which soon followed. All the meats we had (ribs & brisket) were better than other local bbq we've had in recent years... we'll be coming back for seconds.

  • Jay L.

One star for service: Staff was friendly food came out quick. One star for Ambiance: such a cute little old cabin No stars for food: ribs were tasteless and tough only flavor was in the sauce. Sides were not good. This place gets people coming in for its atmosphere not its food. Skip it!

  • Jesse D.

I've eaten here twice, once 3 years ago and again this week. Both times the food has been tasteless, dry and expensive. My wife ordered bbq chicken and I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. Both plates of meat were so dry we needed the drinks to wash it down. There was more bbq sauce on my bun than on the meat and all of the pork was dry and bland. The coleslaw with my meal was ok, they add horseradish which gives it some decent flavor. My wife's sides were not much better. Her cornbread tasted, and felt, like it was made weeks ago as it was very dry and hard. Her baked beans tasted like pinto beans soaked in canned pork and bean sauce and the potato salad was nothing special. Her chicken was bland and dry, really not good. There was no extra bbq sauce or napkins at the table, which seems out of place at a bbq joint. The food was prepared by someone who either hasn't tasted it, doesn't seem to care how it tastes or simply doesn't know how to make good bbq. We won't be going back.

Nice BBQ place, one of the top 3 I've had in Washington. I'm from the Mid-West and have lived in the south, so I know my BBQ. Chicken, pork ribs and brisket are all good, corn bread is really good but can be hit or miss. My recommendation is that you come here for an early lunch so everything will be fresh.

  • Alayna S.

Great service!! The ribs were good, meat fell right off the bone!! Mac n cheese was yummy!! Overall it was good!! I do agree with some of the other reviews that meat needs a little more flavor!! Peanut butter cookies at the counter were delicious!! A little pricey around 56 bucks for three people to eat but had a little bit of leftovers!

    (4)
  • Mad M.

Pricey but portions are good. Comes with huge cornbread, small coleslaw, small baked beans. Obviously smoked for quite some time as very tender and fall off the bone. Some people complaining about the fat but that is what gives the flavor. Not for the coronary artery troubled.

I am so thankful I found this place!! I traveled to Tacoma on business and got a craving for barbecue. When I got to Warthog everything looked and smelled so good that I couldn't choose so I got it all on the Western Round Up (brisket, pulled pork, a rib, chicken, turkey, ham and the spicy sausage). The barbecue sauce itself was excellent. The ribs, brisket and pulled pork made me a believer and if/when I find myself in Tacoma I will be back. The girls that worked the dining area and register also deserve a shout out for their customer service (I thought they closed at 9 so thank you for not making me feel like I had to rush when I showed up after 8). My only suggestion is that the ham doesn't need the sauce and definitely stands on its own. All in all, if you're looking for a cozy atmosphere, great service and finger licking good BBQ..............Warthog.

I should have known we were in trouble when we pulled into the parking lot at 5:30 on a Friday night and it was completely empty. Because you order at the counter and pay first your experience then really begins to take a sad turn. $150 and 25 minutes later our bright pink (and I mean nearly raw) "medium" prime rib specials and equally rare "medium rare" prime rib arrived along with a kid's chicken nuggets, brisket dip and NY steak. When we pointed out that the prime rib was rare the server told us she would have them remake it, but we should keep our plates and eat our sides. A few minutes later she returned to get our plates because the cook didn't believe it wasn't medium. 10 minutes later when the plates returned, it was clear the prime rib had been pan fried to make it appear medium-rare it still wasn't, and isn't how prime rib is cooked. The brisket dip was fine, but not great: dry, big hunk of fat on one side and so flavorless that I tried horseradish and bbq sauce to improve it. The only type of ribs this "bbq" joint sells every day are pork (not baby back). This went from being a fun family outing to a depressing waste of money. There is nothing that would compel me to return.

Not good.. Ribs were all fat and no meat. Worst spicy sausage ive tryed. Just not a good experience. We payed $37 for lunch we could not eat. The decor is very cool and we had high hopes for some great BBQ.. We did not get that here. So i can not recommend stopping here.

Atmosphere here is great, laid back log cabin with historical decorations. You can order to go or eat inside, outside in the covered and uncovered areas. Bbq sauce and sweet tea are limitless here! Just know that they go very light on the bbq sauce, I had the brisket bbq sandwich and it was pretty good.

Gross! I thought since it was small it would be good. This place was nasty. It compares nothing to Famous Davis. AND IT WAS REALLY EXPENSIVE. GROSS! GROSS GROSS!

I would recommend their ribs. Nice décor and it also has a place to eat out doors. Their menu is a little pricey in my opinion.

Cute place! Staff very friendly and fast service. We have the sampler plate. The chicken was moist and tender. Pulled pork was a little dry, turkey, ham was delicious as well. Loved the coleslaw and corn bread. We will return to this place soon.

This is the BEST BBQ in the Seattle Tacoma area - by far! Gotta try the brisket -the mac and cheese and the Rueben - all three are absolutely delish! This place is as good as it gets!

Maybe it was my bad decision, but somehow I got brown gravy on my brisket...strange to anyone else? I did have order envy on some others' food choices. Pretty cool place, very clean, awesome smells. I'll be back and give them a second chance.

Decent sandwiches and selection of other meats. Good place for lunch or early dinner. A small selection of beer in bottles is available. The tea is hit n miss as at times it is not as fresh.

I'm not a big meat eater. But when I want meat, I want meat. My carnivorous heritage awakens with a furious appetite for Barbecue. I'd compare Warthog with famous Dave's, but with less sauce. In fact, there is no sauce besides catsup unless you send hubby back to pester the staff for more. The ambience was country/hunter/rustic. I admit, though, beside the nice dim lighting and the tantalizing aroma of barbecue, the taxidermy beasts were... Nasty. Unappetizing. I felt like I was gnawing flesh from the boar head that was staring at me. Despite the guilt trip from Bambi's deceased relative, the food was pretty good. I'm not the most experienced carnivore, but it was okay. The fries, however, were terrible. Yuck. Mushy, soggy, cold flaps. Limp strips of nasty starch matter. I think they added sugar to the greasy little things. They had a sweet flavor. The side items were less than impressive portion, option and quality wise. I thought the entrees were pricey for what you get.

We came in on Valentine's Day and there was plenty of seating. And the outdoor seating looks great for our definite return trip. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the menu is extensive. I got the prime rib, rare, and it was delicious. My friend got the New York strip, and it was so good it was gone super fast. The gentlemen with us got the Billy Boy Burger (I think that was the name), a Kobe burger, that was huge and both of them agreed it was excellent. The garlic mashed potatoes, au ju, cole slaw, cornbread... All so very good independently. The kitchen manager came out to see how we were enjoying our meal, and it was no lie telling him it was great. Totally coming back. Totally would recommend. I want to come and try the brisket. Might even save room for dessert next time. :D

Some of the worst smoked meats I've ever tried. My husband and I purchased two family meals to go for an impromptu family gathering. Nobody finished their plates and nobody wanted to take home the huge amount of leftovers. All of the meats we purchased (ribs, chicken, pulled pork) lacked seasoning and the ribs were a curious combination of being extremely fatty and extremely dry. There was no way to salvage the meat with the included BBQ sauce. It was cloyingly sweet with some unidentifiable aftertaste. Even Kraft BBQ sauce puts the warthog sauce to shame. The potato salad and coleslaw were eerily familiar. I think because I eaten the same stuff when I've made the mistake of buying those salads at the grocery store deli counter. It is the mass produced crap from a tub. The beans actually had decent flavor and appeared to be made in house. But, they were undercooked and a bit too hard. I didn't try the cornbread but a few people commented that it was inedible. The employees seemed really nice though. But, it doesn't make up for that horrible attempt at being a smokehouse restaurant.

Everytine I think I have been to critical of this place I go back to be disappointed. How can you take a piece of leg/thigh chicken and dry it out? They have figured it out somehow..... Bland sauce with only one option is also sad, c'mon man give us some options. I even tried the sausage which was actually descent, except they put a "jerk" sauce on it without it being listed on the board.

Solid Bbq for the area. Nothing too special as Far as sides go, but the cornbread is included which isn't always the case. I had the brisket and the meat was great, if you go here for any reason it will be meat, and the decor is entertaining as well! Not stellar but not bad either, would go back if I had a hankering for some Bbq and I was nearby.

Went here for dinner: we had pulled pork, a burger and brisket. All very tasty. We were also impressed with the friendly and very helpful service which earned this place 5 stars. Decor is "lodge" like and creates a comfy atmosphere. Definitely worth coming back to continue to try more menu items!

Best darn BBQ in town!! Not only was the food exceptional, but the two young ladies behind the counter have impressive customer service. Way to go ladies!

Pretty great BBQ. The pulled pork isn't dry or fatty like at other places around this area. The BBQ sauce is something special, it's a little tangy and a bit sweet. Oh and the prime rib sandwidch was incredible! This location always seems busy when I go, but i'm normally there at lunch or dinner time, so it's expected.

I got a rib dinner with slaw and mac & cheese. They were all underwhelming. The ribs didn't have any smoke flavor and barely any meat. There wasn't a smoke ring either so I don't know how these were prepared. In addition, they were a little chewy and needed more time cooking. Sauce. It must be a Washington sauce thing with this glowing red sauce. It's terrible to a person that is used to eating real BBQ. I'm not even going to go into the sides. I do realize that this is probably good BBQ for Washington, but it's not anywhere near the quality I'm used to. And that makes me sad. I rarely bitch about price but I thought I was in NYC with these prices.

Ok this place is pure shit I spent over $40 and it was all cheap crap nothing Grease and horrible BBQ sauce, Staff was hateful and prices or way too high for the crap! The ribs are worse then prison food ! I said nothing and will tell everybody to stay clear from this shit hole !

Been here a few times since we live near by. Biggest issue is inconstancy. Sometimes we go and it's amazing food, other times like tonight it's horrible. We ordered prime rib tonight. It was cold, overdone based on what we ordered and there was more butter than potatoes in the mashed potatoes. So disappointing.

not sure how it is possible that the chain bbq joints have higher stars than this place. Dinner was delicious. can't get over the beans too, yumm, so good! worth the price point. easy comfortable atmosphere. could definitely bring the kids. we will be back!

I'll preface this by saying that I hadn't eaten all day and was famished by the time we made our way over to Warthogs. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! We wanted to catch a basketball game on TV so we took our food to go, but would have had no problem finding seating (though I understand this place can get pretty busy). I always order a combination meal to get a first impression for any BBQ place, and so I ordered the moo, oink, cluck with potato salad. I'm not from the south and I didn't grow up on BBQ, so take my opinion for what it's worth, but all the meats were delicious! I'm not usually a brisket fan, as I often find that it's dry and just not very appetizing to me, but Warthog's did it really well. The brisket, ribs, and chicken were all so juicy and flavorful! Someone mentioned the fat content of the meat might be higher than normal, but if it means I get a juicy brisket, then bring it on. It's not like I was chewing on cubes of fat (I actually didn't see anything offending at all). The potato salad was decent and I tried some of their coleslaw (which I thought tasted like KFC's coleslaw) but nothing to salivate over. For dessert, we ordered an entire Dutch Apple Pie to go (that was the only flavor left) and for $15/pie, I'd say find your dessert elsewhere. The flavors were okay but the crumble and pie crust were not great, and that's usually my favorite part. I was actually shocked at the price for the quality. I still can't believe this place is in Fife. A great find. They also had some interesting burger options, that we noticed on our way out. I'm going to have to come back and try them out.

Yummy BBQ the way it is supposed to be. Smoked, NOT BAKED and slathered in sauce like so many places do. There are two sauces- sweet and spicy. A cute setting of a little log cabin hunting retreat. They even have pretty flowers out front, a nice little touch.

This is the worst no taste BBQ ever. I had a 1/2 rack of pork ribs which was horrible. My wife had beef sandwich and daughter had pork sandwich. I sampled everything. That red BBQ sauce is horrible!!!!!! Place was nice but empty. I wonder why????

Warthog is pretty good if you ask me, I order the Ribs to go, I usually call in the order on my way home and stop by after work to take home and feast! We love the Ribs usually a half rack will do and watch out I'm diving in Mmmmmmmmm pour a little BBQ sauce on it and please don't forget the Corn Bread with the Honey Butter! Dang! Making my mouth water already!!!! I have family down south and I know me some good ribs!!!! Good Job Warthog!!!!

I would say that the food is good. There sides are tasty and the brisket is pretty good. The meat is a tiny bit on the dry side and one of the bbq sauces taste like ketchup. But the others sauces were good and we enjoyed our meal.

My so and I both ordered the Friday special. Smoked prime rib! Tender and delivered to my table rare just the way I ordered! The smoked flavor was fantastic. Our server, Tammy, was friendly and professional. The atmosphere was a great mix of wild game trophy mounts! We would recommend this place to my friends and family!

I'm so glad I read ALL my fellow Yelpers' reviews before going to this place yesterday evening. I took my own container of BBQ Pete's Pulled Pork sauce with me. My husband and I both ordered the pulled pork sandwich that seemed to get good reviews. Meat was tasteless and rubbery. Sauce was uninspired. Bun, though, was steamed and warm. Cole slaw as crisp but swimming in too much watery dressing. We both slathered on the Pete's sauce and made the best of it. We shared a corn bread muffin for dessert. Now that was good - a little bit of sweetness, nice crunch of corn meal, served with butter and honey. Servers were all friendly and helpful. Tip - the place is NOT air conditioned.

I have visiting The Warthog since 2009 and have always had great food. I tried their smoked Prime Rib last weekend and my mouth is still watering from the fantastic flavor. (The also have the best french fries but ask for them to be Crisp (Dick Lynch style)... I have only had smoked Prime Rib one other time (in Florida) and I vowed never ever to try it again. Well I have begun to trust the fine folks at the Warthog and my trust paid off. I have tried many different BBQ meals at the Warthog and have never been disappointed. If the restaurant was a little larger or laid out better, this would be a 5 star review, all day long! I give it a 4 out of 5 Stars!

We just happened through the area today and decided to try this place for lunch. Needless to say I don't know why we haven't been here before, but very glad we gave it a whirl. The location is certainly out of the way but that makes this a great locals joint. The atmosphere is very kitschy and absolutely goes with the theme of great BBQ. I had the Brisket Reuben which was on special and it was one of the best Reuben's I have had. Maybe it was because the brisket was excellent, but I think it was the combination of the dressing, sauerkraut, and pumpernickel bread that made this an excellent lunch. I also enjoyed the fries, they were that good fresh cut kind that were full of flavor and with a little added salt they were excellent. I even grabbed some of the self serve barbecue sauce and mixed it with the hot sauce on the table for dipping. My partner had the Prime Rib dip, also on the special for the day and it was delicious. He's not usually a sandwich dip kind of person but he really enjoyed this. So much so we both said we will have to go back for their Prime Rib dinner! I also tried their cornbread which was good. Seems a bit pricy for the small piece we got, which they call a "large" but with the butter and honey to drizzle over the top it was certainly tasty. I can't wait to go back, might have to make it a regular thing so we can keep trying different types of meat and combinations! I know that I will be trying some pie next time we go, they looked really good and homemade!

Tried this place 3 times. Cornbread fab but too sweet for me. Sauce fab. Everything else Meh or worse. Meat has no seasoning and little smoke. sides are meh or worse. I have a serious problem with the prices of this place, as that they do what they call BBQ which is dry no flavor meat. Even worse is that with this owner dry no flavor meat is a point of pride as I caught him in the store one day and asked about his BBQ philosophy. This place will work if you dont mind spending too much, just make sure you get extra sauce and mix the meat and sauce in a pan and heat before trying to eat this stuff.

So utterly disappointed with this place! Ordered the western sampler to try all the BBQ choices-The turkey was tough,The ham was boring,The ribs were plain and not seasoned, The suasage was dry and tough,The chicken barely had any smoke flavor,The Brisket was flavorless and fatty and The biggest disappointment was the the pulled pork which was soggy fatty and had no flavor. No Smoke or seasoning is NOT BBQ.

Was not really impressed. We ordered pork ribs, prime rib dip sandwich, and kids Mac and cheese bites. The ribs were so dry and overdone that it was more like jerky (see the pictures)!! The prime rib sandwich was so full of fat and thick gristle, that you were spitting something out with every bite. The mac and cheese bites were just nasty. I know it's off the kids meal, but $7 for soggy microwaved breaded mac and cheese is ridiculous. The potato salad was good, cornbread flavorless and dry. I have provided some pictures!! The atmosphere is strange but ok, lots of heads on the wall, which doesn't bother me.

Always fast and friendly service. The food is amazing, I usually get the pulled pork sandwich. And my dad tries the specials, he is never disappointed. The sweet tea is sweet and perfect. Having lived in SC for awhile this is my favorite BBQ place in the area. Prices are decent.

If I could I would get it 3 1/2 stars. Stopped in for lunch the other day, and ordered a brisket sandwich with baked beans. I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur of barbecue, so I know that barbecue typically isn't very cheap. The brisket sandwich was okay. The best part about it was the bun and the sauce. The meet it self-worth is rather on the dry side, and the intense smoke flavor that I typically like with barbecue just wasn't there. The one thing you did have going for it other than the bun, Was that you do get a large amount of meat in the sandwich itself is rather large. For around $14, I was completely full at the end of my lunch, had a soda to go, and overall was impressed to a medium degree. I will most likely return pretty soon to try other menu items, because good barbecue is not easy to find in Western Washington. So next time I may have the ribs and those may turn out to be much better than the brisket. Go try it for yourself and see, it's not that bad, but it's not the best barbecue ever had. ****Update***** Stopped in again and tried the pulled pork sandwich. I tried it as a combo, and it came with a huge basket of french fries. The fries were once fried, and very greasy but some people might like that. The pulled pork itself was very good, but a little on the wet side for my liking, as it soaked the bottom half of my bun pretty good. I put a little of the hot barbecue sauce that's available on the tables on the sandwich and it turned out okay, but didn't change my 3 1/2 star rating for this place. I will be back again, and update my review then.

We found out that this place is open for breakfast on the weekends so, we decided to give it a try. I had the smoked meat combo and it was really good. The price was right and they give you more than enough food. I liked the smoked ham and smoked bacon. I will be back to try this place for dinner.

Warthog is an OK spot for a lunch BBQ, esp since there really isn't any place in Fife that has it, unless you venture to Tacoma. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it wasn't too bad.. Kinda middle of the road for me tho to be honest, wasn't the best but sure wasn't the worst. I will say it is on the spendy side here but the service was friendly and fast.

Food was ok but WAY too expensive and watery BBQ sauce Go to dickeys or famous Dave's..cheaper there and better sauce

Not sure how this place got good reviews. Maybe I need to give it another try. Went there with my large family one afternoon. We were actually the only people there at lunch time which was nice. However the service was really bad. Just not very friendly. The BBQ sause has a different taste then what you would concider BBQ to taste like. Anyways half of my kids spit out the food on the first bite and my kids have never done this. Our kids are very polite straight A+ honor students. Some of our older kids tried 2 or 3 bites and begged us not to make them eat any more. Normally I would make them eat it. But I could not stand that taste either. Maybe it was spoiled or they put the wrong ingrediants in that day. We told the waitress there was something wrong with it and she blamed us. I asked her to try some but she refused and just brought us our $180 bill. (Same order at famous daves would have been about $110-$120. Thought was quite expensive for what you get. Anyways we paid and left all our food there on the table. What a waste that was. Maybe they had a bad day, maybe a dead rat crawled into the BBQ sause. Shit happens. Though I do see a lot of bad reviews like mine I am surprised to see as many good ones. I even hear they are openening up another Warhog in spanaway at the old wagon wheele. I will check it out and try it one more time. If I have a second bad experiance and the BBQ still tastes like crud. I will be sure to post that here as well and make sure to tell everyone I know. That experiance was the worse I have ever had in any restaurant and I have some horible restaurant stories. If I even mention the name Warthog bbq my kids all still gag and get worked up and this has been a couple years.

Warthog does many things well, as it should calling itself a BBQ pit. I lived in Texas for many years, and I know good BBQ when I eat it. Slow cooked, fall off the bone tender, and delicious homemade BBQ sauce to top it all off. What do I recommend? Everything. Their smoked chicken is bar none, smoky, tender and pulled... and then put into a quesadilla with cheese? Yes please! More of a meat type of person? Don't fret, Warthog makes amazing burgers, ribs and brisket. Love your sides? Their potato salad is legit, as is their beans! They have huge chunks of smoked meat hidden at the bottom, the cornbread is to die for. The ambiance is fitting of a BBQ pit restaurant, and the BBQ sauce is always out in their cauldrons for patrons to use to their hearts desire.

Traveling through Fife with a rumbling in your tummy? Warthog Barbeque Pit did us RIGHT when we were heading back from our Pt. Defiance Zoo trip last Sunday afternoon. Had never been before, but we were "starving" and Yelp ratings enticed us (me) in. Moo-cluck-oink platter, complete with scrumptious beans, just-right coleslaw and homemade cornbread with honey butter. There's even a hand-washing station next to the bubbling pot of self-serve barbecue sauce kept appropriately warm for folks who feel inclined to go for a little (or a lot) extra. And, what, one might ask, could possibly top that? Well, quaint little individual cushions for your tired fanny, of course! Can you say "Hot Damn!"? Sure, I knew you could! BTW: this is not a paid advertisement, I just simply took a walk down short-term memory lane...reliving my experience with my leftover cluck, which was actually more extraordinary than it initially was the day it was served "fresh" as part of my combo meal. Whatever magic that happens sometimes during the "doggy-bag" phase of the refrigeration process...somehow managed to exponentially increase the already exceptional flavor.

I have never thought there was any reason ever to stop in Fife, WA. Until last night. The fiance and I were on our way to the Emerald Queen for a concert and we had some time for dinner, so I did a websearch from my phone for local restaurants. Based on reviews, we decided on Warthog BBQ Pit... and HOLY CRAP. Seriously, this was the best BBQ that either of us have had outside the house (fiance's ribs are pretty amazing) ever in the history of ever. As per always, when it's offered on a menu, Daryl got a rack of ribs. I got the smoked prime rib (rare) entree and a beer. I frequently win the "menu choice" contest, but while my prime rib WAS QUITE amazing...Daryl won this round. Those ribs....SERIOUSLY, THOSE RIBS. They were fall off the bone tender, they were juicy, they were flavorful, the smoke was JUST right in my opinion - not so much you're belching up nothing but smoke (this has happened) for hours, but enough to where it was present. They were rich, they were fatty, they were goddamn orgasmic. I highly recommend this place. Highly. And I'm pretty sure we found a regular "hey, let's stop here on our way down to Oregon" restaurant. Seriously...if you are in the area and you love good BBQ, you are doing yourself an injustice by NOT stopping here.

I love Warthog Barbeque. All of their meat has a strong smoke flavor, and their barbeque sauce is way better than anything you can buy at the store. Get the ribs. They are all very meaty and perfectly cooked. And the same rib dinner that Famous Dave would charge $20 for, here is only $13 including 2 sides! It is not a fancy sit down place, but the food more than makes up for it.

I would like to start by saying that I have been here before in the past (last time was over a year ago) and it was pleasant. Being from the South and knows what real BBQ is, Warthog is not it. On the positive side, Warthog used to be good enough to just takes the edge off of the BBQ craving. However, and unfortunately, my last experience there this weekend (for a take out order) was anything but good. I'll spare the elaborate review and get to the point. At one point, WH used to have baby back ribs, apparently, no longer, instead, they served the spare ribs (which I do enjoy too) but they were tasteless. yes, I repeat, tasteless. All that was done with these were that they were cooked slow in an oven or some other heat contraption, and then served. No smoky flavor, no rub, not even sauce (which, good BBQ does not require sauce.) That cost me $26 for a full rack of tasteless meat. The cornbread, well, it was hard, round and puck-like. A half chicken was dry and tasteless as the ribs. The sauce is not all that great either, I am glad I had a quart of Dreamland BBQ Sauce on hand - there's a reason! As a side note, the key lime pie, didn't look too appetizing either. Lesson learned, the next time I want good BBQ, I have to do it myself. Please, is there ANY good BBQ out in the Pac NW?!

This place is kinda out in the middle of no where, so I was a little skeptical about going, but I'm glad that we did, because we are fans. I can't wait to try new things. I wish that they had more than one type of BBQ sauce, BBQ sauces are not one sauce fits all, some like spicy/hot, some like it sweet, and some like it tangy, so I'm not surprised that there is a love hate relationship with the BBQ sauce here, but I personally loved it. The seating area is small, so if they are busy, expect to feel a little rushed. There however is a party/large group room off of the main seating area. I would not recommend the brisket, I was not happy with it, it seemed really dry and ruff, I've definitely had better elsewhere, but I don't expect to like every dish in every restaurant. I am a fan and I can't wait to go back!

No Bueno. My Brisket sandwich was unbelievably dry with BBQ sauce that was way too sweet. Very bland. Plus, the meat was really fatty, like it was low quality. My wife had the turkey and said hers was bland as well. Fries were pretty good though. She also noticed that there were ants all over the counter next to the soda machine. Kind of concerning.

My wife and I went here for the first time today. The staff was friendly and the food came quick enough. I went to use the bathroom while I was waiting and burned my hand in the sink. There was a sign warning that the water was hot but there was no possible way to adjust the temperature. Evidently they are aware of the problem but only want to put minimal effort into fixing it. We ordered a brisket sandwich and a pulled chicken sandwich with rice, beans and potato salad for sides. The rice was cold and the beans were more like a stew with some fat floating in it. We only ate a few bites. The potato salad tasted store bought. The brisket and chicken were bland and disappointing. I wasn't sure if the BBQ sauce and the ketchup were the same thing. For some reason they only had one variety. They had what they call the jailhouse for some reason which is an additional eating area. There is a big screen tv in there but evidently customers aren't permitted to turn it on. Do yourself a favor and go to Branks or Longhorn.

What can I say great barbecue. I was going to do 4 stars as I like my meat a little more messy with sauce then just on top. My second visit I asked for a little more sauce and they nailed it so 5!!! This is for the pork sandwich and fry's.

I came here recently for a co-workers birthday party and the food was yummy. Seven of us went and all of us were satisfied with our meal. My BBQ Pork Pulled sandwich was tender and I found the sauce station which I overlooked last time. I think that their food at the restaurant is better than their catering (they've come to our office before) but it is very delicious. I will definitely be back!

This is my go to place for BBQ of any sort. Everything from the people who work here to the decor and especially the food are top notch. Try one of their specials, they have one for each day of the week, from pork tacos, to prime rib. All of their BBQ sandwiches are amazing including the innovative Brisket Reuben and Brisket Dip. Whatever you do just eat here and do it soon. They plan on adding in a bar so I know where I will be most Fridays after work. Also, they are preparing another restaurant in Tacoma so I am thoroughly excited since I live closer to the new location.

  • Alex Y.

Excellent BBQ. Delicious, smoky flavor. Very tender pulled pork and ribs. The bun on my pulled pork sandwich should have been more substantial, as it was not well-equipped to contain all the tasty barbecued meat packed inside. The sandwich itself was smaller than I had hoped. But the meat itself made up for it (mostly). I will be back.

  • Alex P.

Josh and I stopped at the warthog for lunch. He had pulled pork and I had the warthog spicy sausage sandwich. His was great while I didn't quite understand mine. The sausage wasn't a sausage in the normal sense. No casings, snap or even a typical shape. It was more like this strips of meatloaf. Same consistancy and everything. Not bad, but if you're a sausage person don't order this. The fries were home cut, kinda sweet and pretty good. Almost like five guys fries. The coleslaw is home made crunchy and the highlite of the meal.... his comments are "I've been going there for 9 years, never once let me down. I love the food and setting...I love that sh** yo"

  • Kyle F.

It was busy for lunch, but the wait was reasonable. I really enjoyed my brisket sandwich, but the coleslaw and potato salad were pretty ordinary. My two co-workers did not like their food. One had the sausage sandwich, which had good flavor but did not look appealing and had a weird texture. The other had the pulled pork sandwich, which had a bad metallic taste. The service was good and they turned the tables quickly in their small dining room. I would probably go back, but would never be able to get my co-workers to return.

Had an out of town guest who wanted barbecue. I didn't want to drive out to the Ranch House, South Bay Dickerson's was closed (Sunday), so I thought I'd give the Warthog another try. Duh. I'm a glutton for punishment. Indifferent customer service, brisket that was dried out and tough (either two days old or improperly cooked), beans that were way too sweet, and slaw swimming in a watery mayo. If this place was in Oklahoma or Texas they'd be out of business. It's too bad.

I tried the Warthog today based upon Yelp reviews, while the customer service was good and the atmosphere was good for a sunny afternoon the food was not what I expected. The chicken and pulled pork was dry and everything was drenched in sauce. A good BBQ won't require sauce however, I'm accustomed to adding sauce as I desire. More than likely I won't eat here again.

**This is strictly for the "catering" services** My boss was ordering lunch yesterday for a meeting at our office. There were going to be 5 people attending and eating. She called WBP and informed them that she had older menu and wanted some clarification/up to date info about the offerings. She was inquiring about the meal that was for 5 people. The representative for WBP told her it could serve 5 or more. She was allowed 2 meats and 2 sides and it came with cornbread. Awesome! She asks which meats were most popular... ordered the chicken, pulled pork, baked beans, and cole slaw. She went to pick-up the order and returned with one plastic bag and a little brown paper bag. She was VERY worried that there would be enough food. Thankfully there was, despite the small servings. Not sure how much she paid for this meal but she paid $2.50 for an extra corn muffin. When she picked up the order there were only 4 corn muffins packed. They told her this meal would serve 5 OR MORE. How can it serve 5 OR MORE, with only 4 muffins? Seriously? Simple mathematics yo... Not a fan of misrepresentation of products/services provided. The boys liked their food though. Thus... 2 stars for making the big bosses happy.

I'm gonna say the meat and atmosphere were conducive to an excellent BBQ. But my favorite part of BBQ is the SAUCE!! I'm pretty sure they only have a house sauce, so a full selection of spicy, sweet, and various flavors would be awesome. UP your sauce game Warthog!!!

Great barbeque. Well smoked, tender and great flavor. A 5-star barbecue restaurant. I just cant bring mya 5-star restaurant rating to a restaurant serving barbeque.

I had real high hopes for this place, and initially I was pleased with the ribs. However, they are pretty saucy and a lot more fat than meat. The amount they give you is insane! Great value here! They are still some of the better ribs you can get around here. The decor is awesome! Very manly and cozy. I felt compelled to try their BBQ sampler, I think it is called the Moo, Oink, & Cluck. It may have been an off day for them but all the proteins were pretty dry and lacking in the flavor department. They have many intriguing food items here and I do look forward to trying more of this place.

Ordered the pulled pork sandwich and made it a combo with fries, coleslaw and a coke. Sandwich was "okay", fries were very greasy and soggy, and coleslaw had too much mayonnaise. The coke was good!!! WAAAAAAAAY to over priced for the flavor....plenty of food, just lacking in flavor :-( Not sure I will be coming back any time soon :-(

I have been here a couple of times and the food is always great. They lost a star this time because the wait staff seemed to be having a collective break down and I thought it should have been taken to the back office rather than subjecting patrons to it even though there were only a few patrons. I would recommend sitting outside instead of near the front desk staff.

A great local joint with great atmosphere - as for the barbecue, it's very tender -- but most of the flavor comes from the sauce and not the meat. Worth a trip for the experience, but I've had better barbecue. I had a pulled pork sandwich. As advertised, the meat had been slow-cooked to the point of extreme tenderness. But it wasn't that flavorful - the sauce is what gave it the flavor, and I felt like there was too much sauce. The cole-slaw was nothing special. But the atmosphere is amazing and one-of-a-kind. This place is a destination. There are wild boar heads and all kinds of taxidermy on the walls and ceiling, the place is a log-cabin in an area that now has industrial park all around it. It's a real throw-back to the 1950s, and worth a trip. This is the kind of joint that made the word road-trip have meaning - so far from the fast-food chain mentality, and a breath of fresh air as a result (ok, smoking bbq-pit air).

The food was really good but I ordered the 12oz. Special and the server came back and asked me confusing questions about my order and my awnsers got me a 7 dollar refund then I was served a sandwhich that was good the communication skills of the waitress was disturbing you just had to have heard it to understand. On the way back towards Seattle from a hike we decided to stop in for some BBQ and were extremely disappointed. This is pretty much a fast food BBQ restaurant, tasted like the food just sits under warmers for awhile waiting for someone to order it. One time was enough, will not be back.

I went here after hearing that they were the best for BBQ in the south end. If that's the case, I officially give up. The meat was okay, but BBQ is all about the sauce and I can find better in my local grocery store. There was a Carolina style that was flavorless and another that reminded me of Heinz 57 sauce. My side of sweet potato fries were cold and the portion small for the price. There were three of us in our group and no one was happy with how their food turned out. It might be good if you were just having a meat craving, but keep looking if you want BBQ.

I have used Warthog to cater more than 15 events in the last 4 years. Their meat is outstanding. My favorites are the beef brisket, hand made, spicy sausage and pulled pork. I can not speak to their BBQ sauce as I eat the meat without it. To me, the quality of meat is most important and Warthog's is divine. The meat is moist, tender and bathed in smokey goodness. Their "nasty rice" is outstanding and heats up well for leftovers. Their cornbread is very good as is the pecan pie. They have full-service catering available, options include table and chair rentals, special menu requests and buffet set-up and staffing. No one ever left one of my Warthog catered events hungry or unhappy...covered in BBQ sauce maybe, but always satisfied.

This place is one hell of a BBQ joint! I dont get south of Seattle often but Warthog is a worthy stop. The Moo, Cluck, Oink is the bomb tip off! Only $9.95 for half a chicken, pork ribs, beef briskit, baked beans, potato salad and cornbread! Insane! It is so good! The smoke is in the meats, not bad meat hidden with sauce! The porterhouse steak is as good or better then anything in Seattle for two or three times the price!! If you are on a road trip or just close by this place is a must!!

Whenever I'm down that way and have a hankerin' for BBQ, I've got to have the Warthog!. I usually order either the chicken or the brisket, which are both excellent in my opinion. The beans, cornbread and coleslaw are all tasty and pretty reasonably priced as well. My only complaint is they don't give you enough sauce and I always have to ask for extra on the side. Great value for the money and it will fill you up for the whole day!

I highly recommend this place. It's one of the better BBQ joints I've found. The sweat salty fries were awesome as was the pulled pork. I will make a point to stop here on my way thru next trip.

We went here on a recommendation from a friend who, like me, is from back East and has actually eaten REAL barbecue. To a North Carolinian like me, just getting "good" BBQ is not going to be enough. In 18 years living in Seattle, I have found ONE place to eat BBQ on a regular basis and that's Three Pigs in Bellevue, which is run by two brothers from Georgia (the American one; not the former Soviet state) who, to be fair, don't know what real BBQ is supposed to taste like because NOBODY from Georgia grows up eating any of it. Theirs is edible; a perfectly acceptable substitute for the real thing, but not great. BUT...our friend said Warthog was the real deal, so we take a Saturday afternoon and go. The place looks right (log house with a down-home sign in front), smells right, is nicely under-decorated inside, and is accessible for Judye's wheelchair, so I'm liking it before the food even shows up. As a NC native, I am legally obligated to order the pulled pork and iced tea, so I do those. We wait a pretty short time and out it comes. The BBQ looks authentic: pulled and trimmed nicely, no visible gristle or fat chunks, and steaming, a big item with us BBQ snots. That's where the good stuff ends, unfortunately. I'll agree that Warthog is the best BBQ I've had in Washington; a hair better than Three Pigs and a mile better than ANY of the other places everybody here claims are wonderful. (Like Pecos Pit , Jones Brothers, etc.) It's not, however - in the vernacular of My People - a "patch on the ass" of the smoked brisket at Lock & Keel in Ballard, but that's beef and I was eating pork at Warthog, so...apples and oranges. But it isn't even within hollering distance of a mediocre BBQ joint in NC. Their sauce was, I thought, the best and most interesting I've had anywhere up here and would probably be considered an interesting alternative for serious BBQ freaks, but the meat itself, while properly moist and tender, just didn't have that distinctive sweet/smoky/peppery flavor that distinguishes great BBQ. I'm starting to believe, after MANY years of this search, that one reason BBQ here never measures up to NC or Texas or KC is that every restaurant here tries to do EVERY style of it: Texas and KC beef, NC pork, ribs, and chicken. In NC, most great joints sell PORK, pulled pork, and that's IT. In Texas, they concentrate on BEEF and that's all.KC is ribs and little else. With the one exception of Angel's BBQ in Savannah, I've never found a BBQ joint that could do more than one style perfectly. At any rate, Warthog was a vast improvement on other local BBQ but just doesn't have the intensity of flavor of the NC style. One reason may be that NC BBQ is typically smoked for two DAYS, rather than the WA norm of eight hours. Prices are very reasonable, the side dishes were flavorful and nicely done, and the service was friendly but Fife is a long haul for that hair's difference from Three Pigs, which is a half-mile from our house. If we're passing through, I'd certainly stop in but I wouldn't drive forty miles for what was on my plate there.

This place was very disappointing. My sister ordered the spicy sausage, and had to send it back. Everyone else at the table tried it, and agreed that it was the driest and worst sausage they've ever had. As my dad said,"How can you mess up sausage?". We decided to order another pulled pork sandwich, which was good. The replacement came out pretty quickly, but didn't have a side with it. We ordered fries, but the waitress never returned. We just left fryless, and have decided never to go back again.

This place is just not good. I'm really, really surprised to see the glowing reviews below. I went twice to make sure I didn't just catch them on a bad day. I really, REALLY wanted it to be good...but man. Ouch. On both visits the chicken was sawdust-dry. My wife's chicken sandwich today was awful....inedible-dry and overcooked and far worse than any fastfood joint...she literally couldn't choke it down. My ribs were better, but still ok at best. There were sizable portions of them that were stringy, burned and leathery. The sauce is WAY too sweet...cloyingly so...which would be alright if the meat was good enough to fly solo - it's not. The sides were all good...especially the beans...but this is BBQ joint...not a sides joint. I *DO* know the difference between good and bad bbq. I lived in Tennessee and Texas for 20 years. I've had some of the best of the various styles and loved it all...Rendevous and Corky's in Memphis (never made it to Interstate)....nearly everywhere in Central Texas (Kreutz's Market, Schmitty's, Salt Lick, County Line, Sam's)....no name joints and trailers in Mississippi and Alabama. I didn't expect that sort of quality here...but I did expect it to be at least close to what I can make at home myself. It wasn't. It was just bad...overcooked and undersmoked...dry....covered in bad sauce. I hate to be the dissenter here....but I'm also not going to pretend this is good...or even passable...BBQ. Sorry.

Best BBQ I've had in the PNW so far. Had a BBQ chicken sandwich for lunch. The meat was deliciously smoked and full of flavor. The sandwich was light on BBQ sauce, but didn't really need more because the meat was so tasty. Came back the same day for dinner and shared the sampler platter which included all of their meats for around $20. Two people left stuffed with enough leftovers for two lunches the next day...what a deal! My favorites were the BBQ chicken, closely followed by the pork ribs. The other meat just wasn't my thing.

The best BBQ I've ever had! The pulled pork is my favorite. They have two BBQ sauces that are unbeatable, one is more classic and the other super spicy but still so flavorful. I love the fries and my kids dig the mini corn dog meal. LOVE it all!

Simply superb BBQ! This place lets you build your own meal combos and serves beer as well. Indoor seating is tough to come by since this small place is usually packed. The food and service is definately worth it though, about $10 gets you more food than you could ever hope to finish and a beer or two.
