AMAZING Food, Crazy slow service Not sure if this is still my fav place to eat. The food is really, REALLY good, but after waiting about 45 minutes to be seated, we waited another 15 minutes to get our order taken, and still another 30 and didn't even have our drinks (just iced tea) on the table...what makes it even worse, its a small place (10 tables) and the owner is on the floor serving but hasn't even acknowledged our presence even though she walks past us every other minute...not even to apologize for the wait. We've been here several times and love the food! The younger server with the dreads is super friendly, but the old sea hag that I'm pretty sure is the owner needs a lesson in customer service. She make you feel like you're a burden. And the way she treats her staff is just unacceptable. When our food was finally served, it was 86 minutes later (I actually timed it). I over hear the sea hag telling another table that the wait was because everything is prepared to order, nothing is done ahead of time. This shows in the quality of food...it REALLY is good. But she didn't offer this explanation to us, or even apologize for the wait. Perhaps offering a basket of beignets and actually serving our drinks while we waited would have lessened the pangs in our bellies. Oh hummm, as irritating as the wait was, I hate to admit that we will more than likely be back again. The food really is that good!

Wow, I've never had to wait so long for my food at a restaurant. We arrived at 7:15, were seated at 7:30, and ordered around 7:45. So far, so good. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Our food (for a party of 3 adults and one child) did not arrive until 9:00. There was no warning beforehand nor any explanation offered after the fact for the long wait, despite the fact that we came in with a young child who obviously has a bedtime. If we had any idea it was going to take over an hour to get our food we would have gone somewhere else. The food was decent, but they also got my order wrong. I asked for the sweet potato fries but received normal fries. By that time I was in no mood to argue. We were also not impressed with the portion sizes. The "side of hush puppies" that the menu said would come with my order of catfish was one lone hush puppy. Recommended only if they're basically empty or you feel like waiting a LONG time for your food.

Been here 3 times, always enjoy the food and the friendly people serving it.

The shrimp & grits as well as the shrimp po' boy sandwich were delicious. The grits were perfectly cheesy, the Cajun sauce divine, and the hush puppies perfectly fried. The breading on the shrimp in the po' boy was crisp and sizzling hot, and the dressing on the sandwich paired perfectly. We stumbled onto this place because it was near the theater we were headed to and then were astounded how yummy the food was. They had a couple of guys playing great blues music too. Place is small and we were packed in tight, probably because of the musicians using dining room space. It's a casual, comfortable vibe there.

Tonight, Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, friend's mom's birthday outing. Service was excruciatingly slow, food took foreeeever, and was horribly overpriced. Music was very loud. We ordered three plates, the Fried Catfish and Hush Puppies, the Bourbon St Fried Chicken, and the Blackened Shrimp Jambalaya, all of which finally did receive, though without silverware or water service beforehand. Of the three, the Jambalaya was the best, but quite frankly was mostly rice and tomato. There was no base flavor to it, a few pieces of andouille, the four shrimp were tasty but not very big, especially for a $15 dish. Next was the Catfish and Puppies. The three pieces of catfish and the few hush puppies were literally indistinguishable in appearance, shape, and size, and not in a positive way. The fish was just tiny. The included fries were previously frozen crinkle cuts, overfried to an oily dark brown. This was the cheapest at $14. Lastly, the Bourbon St Chicken. This one was $15, a special, and turned out to be six small wingettes (not even whole wings), a cold side of dirty rice (which upon asking for a replacement, I received back 20 seconds later microwaved and still not hot), and a side of really generic green beans. For what turned out to be a two hour ordeal and an over $70 check with three beers, I expected a whole lot more from a place with 4 stars. I've had more than my share of Cajun food both here and elsewhere, and in Seattle I've gotten fantastically better service and food quality from both of the Cajun/Creole food trucks in town than I did here. I will not be returning.

I work nearby and so have picked up lunch to go a couple times now. The food has been delicious - I've had the blackened salmon caesar salad both times with different side dishes. The blackened salmon is proportioned perfectly with a nice little kick of spice but not so much as to overwhelm the wild alaskan salmon flavor. The salad is generously portioned with a bunch of fresh shaved parmesan...yum! The first time I picked up lunch I had the fried okra - so delicious! Not salted which I appreciated, and not at all greasy. Just a nice helping of fully deliciously battered okra which was super tasty - even more so when I dipped the little nuggets into the hot sauce they provided. Today I opted for the hushpuppies - a side ran $5 but was enough for two people to split comfortably. They are flavorful, crunchy on the outside while warm and moist with herbs & onions inside. I'm full at having eaten half of the salad and half of the hush puppies :) Service couldn't be friendlier! A new favorite lunch spot of mine for sure. I see that others have complained of the wait to get your food, clearly they are not experienced in the southern hospitality ways wherein you are chatted up and encouraged to linger over your food. Temperature in the restaurant has been comfortable both times I have been there. I like the local art work too, nice vibe in the place! If you're in a hurry, perhaps you should think about calling order in for pick up, otherwise settle in and enjoy the southern-ness of this little Everett gem.

Brief preview: The atmosphere is a bit bland. Your order might get "misplaced" for a bit. But if you tough it out, you will be pleasantly surprised. This place is full of potential. We showed-up on a Friday night when about half of the tables were open. For a Cajun restaurant, I was expecting a little more fun and flair than we experienced. While bright and welcoming, the whole place felt a bit subdued. Seating is a little tight, which should encourage a bit of conversation between tables, but the white table cloths, candles, and Kenny G playing softly in the background must have convinced everyone else that talking at anything above a hushed tone was completely unacceptable. Needless to say, my girlfriend and I were "that couple" drinking and laughing and conversing at above-library-voice levels. There are a few reviews that mention the service here being a bit slow. I agree, but it wasn't all that horrible. When the lone waitress recognized that she was going to be a little busy bringing out multiple orders, she asked the owner to hook us up, and that was that. Maybe North Everett is just becoming a magnet for grumpy yuppie wannabe snobs. A couple came in after us, made some rude comments, and left after not being seated immediately. The table near us stormed out in a huff when they overheard the waitress and owner discussing whether or not she had put in their order for Jambalaya. When our food arrived, we were both pretty pumped. It was dynamite! My girlfriend had some kind of fried shrimp with sweet potato fries, and both were great. In retrospect, she would have preferred hush puppies or okra as the default side, but that was a small issue. I tried the shrimp etouffee, and it was also incredibly good. I asked for them to give it some heat, and they did just that without masking any flavors. Generally, a rice-heavy dish like this will overwhelm you with the impression that most of it was recently poured out of the can. This, thankfully, was not the case. The shrimp was fresh, the tomatoes were not overpowering, the rice was cooked appropriately. It made me feel good. After a few minutes, our waitress noticed that we had not received our appetizer. When it did show-up, my mind was blown. It was the best jerked chicken I've ever had. Rather than wolfing down all four skewers, we shared one and brought the other three home to savor for the rest of the weekend. The best part? All of the leftovers tasted just as incredible after languishing in our fridge for a couple days. Two lessons here: First, as a customer, chill out. You might discover something worthwhile if you learn some patience. Second, the owners of Craving Cajun need to get rid of the dentist office music, get the beer/wine flowing a little faster, and encourage people to not be quite so uptight. This is CAJUN food for goodness sake!

This is an incredibly charming, family-run hole-in-the-wall restaurant featuring authentic cajun and creole food. It's a little piece of the Big Easy tucked away in Everett. The food is fantastic (the hush puppies are amazing), the service is fast and friendly, the portions are reasonable and the prices are fair. Think twice before passing up this hidden treasure!

I was so looking forward to a cajun place so close. The good: my first visit I had the catfish po' boy. It was a decent fish sandwich, but cajun? Naw. Deep fried battered fish with no spice. Slathered with yellow mustard. The bad: triple F. Floppy French Fries. The ugly: Very slow and inaccurate service. My first visit they apologized "we've just opened, we won't be so slow next time." The next visit I ordered a hot link. Menu said comes with a side of your choice so I asked for the fried okra. FORTY minutes later when my order came up, it came with the Okra, in addition to fries which apparently was the default side dish of my choice. Others I know have had similar experiences. I want them to succeed, but I'm going to give them a few months before going back, perhaps they can work out the kinks.

I was so excited to read that The Whim had finally opened up their restaurant! My husband loved their gumbo at the Strawberry Festival every year. So when I saw them reviewed on Yelp, we just had to go there and give them a try. The food today was good, but they have a few kinks to work out. They've only been open for 3 days, so keep that in mind Service was slow. It took too long for them to take our order and they didn't check on us frequently enough. Getting the food out of the kitchen was also too slow. One of the staff members ordered food after we did, and they actually got their food quite a while before we got ours. The restaurant is freezing. They said there is something wrong with the heat and they're working on it. Customers were all wearing their coats. By the time we left, my feet were frozen. I wouldn't return based on this alone, not until it's fixed. That just wasn't comfortable at all Now on to the food. We tried a few different things: Fried Pickles - Very good but too expensive. 3 Pickle spears were $5 Jerk Chicken - Good, but again a bit pricy. 3 Small skewers was $6 Rice and Beans - Needed salt but overall pretty good Hush Puppies - Delicious Mini French Dip - Best part of the meal! We got it with fruit salad instead of the chips and OMG, do that! It's fresh fruit and he puts a delicious sauce over the top. I would order the fruit all by itself. The only thing I would change about it is that the fruit is served on top of a bed of weeds (designer "lettuce") and it kind of absorbs some of the delicious sauce that I would have liked to be able to get every last drop of. With a little adjustment to the prices (or larger portions), better service, and some HEAT, this place will rock. Hopefully time will work out most of the kinks and they will stick around for a while. In the mean time, get the mini-french dip with the fruit, to go. Yum!

I don't like to add to what several others have already mentioned, BUT the customer service here is SPECTACULAR!! Super friendly people. I have only been here once to get take out but I will be back until I have tried everything on the menu, it all sounds so good. Beware though of their spice levels, I like spicy and my blackened shrimp jambalaya was prepared at a '2' and it was plenty spicy, and oh so delicious!

Will definitely back here, great food and friendly service. Our server (the only server) served about 8 tables himself, but manage to do his job well and really pleasant. Got their gumbo (a bit salty to my taste) which come with their super yummy hush puppies, then as the fried green tomatoes, Yum! Highly recommend this place, just be ready to spend about $15 per person for great cajun food...

My wife and I were sad to see Alligator Soul close down, and had very high hopes for this place. Craving Cajun exceeded them. I ordered the crab and shrimp gumbo, which deserves every bit of hype I've been seeing in other reviews, and my wife and son had the catfish; perfectly seasoned and delicious. Don't come for speedy in and out service; this is a family owned place and the staff is warm and friendly, but you're just going to have to wait for your food. Which is as it should be- good food takes time to prepare, and if you can be patient and not behave like some beast of entitlement from a Gordon Ramsay reality show, you'll be rewarded. My only complaint about Craving Cajun is that we didn't have any room left over to try the amazing-looking desserts. Both the pecan pie and the whiskey bread pudding are on our to do list in the near future... One last thing, and not to guilt anybody out, here... But anyone who misses Chef Ryan's joint as much as we do knows that a place like this can only succeed with support and encouragement. So, if you love great cajun food, tell your friends and stop in for catfish and gumbo OFTEN! We want this place to stick around for a while...

Good food, but the service was pretty slow. Three of us went and ordered gumbo, etouffee, and catfish. The gumbo was good, as was the etouffee. The catfish was fried, and just so-so. The dishes came with hushpuppies, which I haven't had in quite some time. Service was slow and getting out in an hour while on lunch was really tight. And the restaurant itself was pretty chilly. The waitress was nice, but seemed in over her head. The restaurant just opened about two weeks ago, so I'm hoping these issues will be resolved with experience. There is promise there, they just need to work out the kinks.

We ate here on 1.19.2013 and the food was to die for. I had the Mini Steak French Dip and it was so good I ordered another. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for excellent Cajun Food.

I love love loved New Orleans! They have the absolute best food evvvver. I'm pregnant and my husband frequently tries to satisfy my food cravings, which I can barely identify... making it very hard to actually enjoy anything I eat. He brought home shrimp and grits, catfish with sweet potato fries, collard greens, hush puppies, fried okra and everything else he could possibly order on a whim. I was SO happy and actually felt satisfied after my dinny. We had tons of leftovers also, that all reheated beautifully and tasted equally as good the next day. We will be regulars here, it was bomb dot com and as good as the Louisiana flava!

I had just moved into my new apartment, and was looking for a bite to eat to take a break from unpacking. I walked downtown, and ended up going into this place to have lunch by myself. I was seated immediately, and got to sit in the window. The temperature was very comfortable, in regards to other reviews, but it's spring, and not cold outside. I picked the blackened shrimp étouffée, and a ginger beer. My order was taken as soon as I set my menu down. They brought my ginger beer in a wine glass, which was delightfully fancy. It took very little time, and my bowl of hot amazing food was brought. They didn't scrimp on shrimp, and the presentation looked very nice. I got two hush puppies on the side. I am a big fan of spicy food, and for me the spice level was on the higher side of medium. If I brought some of my more tender mouthed friends, it would have been too spicy. However, I heard a couple ask if they could tone down the spice on a to-go order, the the staff were happy to do it. I have to say the étouffée was really good. Very tomato-y, very flavorful in all the right notes. The hushpuppies on the side came out amazing. I have always had them elsewhere when they were too deep fried, and too dry, but here, it was perfectly golden brown and delicious. The staff was very attentive. I coughed, and they asked me if I wanted a glass of water. I thought that was very sweet because I know I don't look like someone that likes my food spicy. The prices were decent. Not cheap, but decent for what I got. I paid somewhere around ten bucks for the meal, and for the amount of shrimp in it, I felt it was very fair. I'll definitely be going back because the service was amazing, and the food was very nice.

After seeing this restaurant pop up, my friend and I went there for lunch after a climbing session at the local climbing wall. I had the gumbo and it was the best I have had outside of New Orleans. The hush puppies were great along with a good Mississippi Mud. The staff was very attentive and the cook herself came out to ask how spicy I wanted my Gumbo. Very impressed. Small place so seating is limited. Come hungry.

After hearing about this place for a while, a friend and I went for lunch to try it out. Simply put the place was fantastic. The service was extremely friendly and reasonably quick (I don't like it if it is too quick - I think of microwaves). We had the Catfish and HushPuppies and Shrimp and Grits. Both were excellent and the blackening was especially good on the shrimp. I will certainly return to try the rest of their menu. I am going to save my last star after I return a few times.

We went there at about 7 on a week night.. Our waiter was great, super friendly! Food was fantastic, though it did take a while to get to us.. I had the gumbo and my bf wanted the catfish, but they were out.. He got the blackened shrimp and grits instead, which he enjoyed. I do wish they had more of a selection.. Especially for kids! Overall, if you want a great meal, and have time to sit and relax, this is your place.. I agree with the other reviews, the Hush puppies were killer!

Having never had the pleasure of sampling genuine Cajun/Creole in the South part of our country, I am not fully qualified to fully vouch for this place - HOWEVER... I have had everything else from boxed quick-cookin versions to homemade attempts and local restaurants' spins on the classic Jumbalya & Gumbo that ended up being rather tasty. This place really blew my socks off in comparison. Fried Okra was our appetizer (which we ordered off of the "sides" section of their simple, well layed-out menu - with pictures of every dish). This was my first taste of this tasty Cajun Classic. It was delivered to our table by a very accommodating and pleasant fellow, who I presume was the chef/owner of the place. The young waiter was pleasant, knowledgable about the menu and attentive. One bowl of "1" heat-level Jumbalya & one bowl of "1" heat-level Gumbo later we were in love with this place. Shrimp in the Jumbalya I could eat til I'm sick - perfectly seasoned, very tasty. Nice big chinks of crab leg in the Gumbo! Both dishes were very hearty - no skimping here! Hush puppies came with the main dishes and they have a nice selection of standard hot sauces to further tantalize your taste buds. Only two things: 1. The waiter did try to warn us about the heat level of their food - it comes spiced at an 0.5 heat level and goes up to 5. But this is no Thai restaurant and spice goes way beyond "stars" here. A 4-star Thai dish is as spicy as their Creole "1"! I wasn't too sure when the waiter told me this - I'm normally a 2-3 Star Thai dish comfort level - so I opted for a "1", thinking it couldn't possibly be too bad. All I'm gonna say is trust your waiter! Next time this 3-star-Thai girl will stick with the 0.5 Cajun spiciness level! I it was definitely my fault. But the food still tasted incredible in spite of my spicy error! 2. I think it would be memorable for their guests if they had oversized talllll water glasses - as kind of a forewarning of how much water one might want with their incredible food - perhaps it would be one more thing to make this place stand out above the rest! Rooting for the success of this great new restaurant! H

Decent cajun food for the area. French fries kinda shucked, shrimp was good but over battered. Enjoyed the fried okra appetizer. They don't have Tabasco. Prices a pretty steep for the quality.

I really want to like this pace. When I first read about it I was hoping for food from home Ok well not quite. My wife and I got the fried catfish plate. Ok maybe I'm a catfish snob but this was not southern fried catfish. I got a side of fried okra. It was very good. I also enjoyed the hushpuppies although they could have been a little spicier. My wife got the turnip greens which she did enjoy. There was problems with service as well. There was one guy waiting tables and a number of people in the kitchen. You could see them under the swinging doors. I'll try it again to see how the gumbo is but I'm hoping for improvement.

My husband and I went here for dinner for the first time last night. As other reviews have mentioned, service is very slow but pleasant. Best to go when you are not in a hurry. As for the food, well worth the wait. The shrimp and grits are to die for and probably should be their signature dish. The fried green tomatoes were excellent and the homemade hot sauce was great. My husband wanted the gumbo but they were out so he ordered the jambalaya instead. He loved it. We also ordered the shrimp étouffée, I am sorry to say it was nothing to write home about. I am still on a search for an étouffée as good as the Rajun Cajun in Seattle had, have yet to find it. Maybe my expectations of an étouffée are too high. I am not a fan of hush puppies so I did not try them but my husband did and said they were excellent. The sweet tea was also good, very sweet, just like a Southern sweet tea should be. We live in the neighborhood and will definitely be frequent customers!

The shrimp po-boy and Philly cheese steak sandwich was delish! I would definitely try them again and the gumbo smelled and looked amazing. The french fries, both reg and sweet were not my favorite but the rest was amazing! Great service, friendly and very authentic!

Super Slow Service!! Apparently the kitchen just can't support more than 5-6 tables and there are about 12-14 in the restaurant. Took 30 minutes to get our appetizer (fried okra) and another 30 for our entrees (etouffee and gumbo). This is a serious problem for a restaurant. Basically they plate food for one table and then it takes about ten-fifteen minutes for the food for the next table to come up. So if you are not the first folks in the restaurant there will be a LONG wait. Waiters are very friendly, but don't get the concept of checking back in with you, maybe because they know there is nothing they can do about the wait? Food was reasonable, but not great. Gumbo was OK, but a bit fishy and the sausage in the etouffee was a bit burned. Hush puppies were the best item, tasty. Too bad. We were really hoping to have a nice Cajun place to go to.

I'm definitely going back soon to sample more on the menu. Great gumbo with crab, shrimp and sausage. Hush puppies were perfectly cooked. Fried green tomatoes were very tasty. The live music on Friday night was the nicest surprise of all. Great guitarist! Highly recommend this place.

This place is great. If you know what Cajun food is or you are curious, this is the place for you. The owners hail from Mississippi and Louisiana and know what cajun is all about. The gumbo and blackened shrimp jambalaya are my favorite and my wife loves the catfish. The wait is worth it to get fresh Cajun food.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! What a fabulous place, fabulous service, this is my new favorite place! The food is wonderful. I had fried Okra, Fried Green Tomatoes with a hot sauce for dipping, Hush Puppies and Collard greens. My husband had the Catfish which he declared PERFECT and he should know, being from Louisiana and all. Nothing was greasy, it was all favored to perfection, my husband was actually tempted to drink the Collard juice left in the bowl. It was our pleasure to meet the owner who couldn't have been nicer. She and her husbands are the cooks and pride themselves on cooking everything and not hiring it out for someone else to do. If you're the type of person that likes to eat and run and is impatient this is probably not the place for you. But, if you're the type of person who doesn't mind waiting a bit for "Perfection" then I'll probably see ya there. Oh, by the way the Pecan Pie with Jack Daniels Whiskey Sauce was AWESOME!!!!

I came here on a weekday for lunch. I arrived slightly after they opened. When I entered the location I had to wait for a few minutes to be acknowledged and seated even though I was the only person at the restaurant. The service was slow but the reward was the very delicious food I received. I ordered the special which was 3 chicken wings, potato salad, and greens. I also ordered a side of hush puppies. The chicken wings were hot and very tasty upon delivery as was the potato salad and the greens. The hush puppies were oh-so-slightly dry but after dipping them in the liquid associated with the greens they were very tasty. The 3 stars is because although the food was very tasty the service was kinda slow and it seemed to be a bit overpriced ( lunch special with tea & a side of hush puppies was around $20).

Mom, son, and son? I walked in and seated myself. One waiter (son?) with 3 other customers. waited about 10 minutes before my order was taken. waited about another 25 minutes before my order came out and I had to ask for my water again. No worries I had my new iphone 5 with cool games. Food was good and interesting. The pasta was like a soup. I wasn't in a hurry so it's all good. But there's something in slow motion at this place. And they are very polite. They did apologize for taking so long for the food etc.

We were recommended to go here by friends, and went for lunch this afternoon. We got fried green tomatoes, hush puppies, shrimp étouffée, and the crawfish special. We've been looking for a good Cajun restaurant since Alligator Soul shut down, and were blown away by the flavors. It was comparable to, if not better than, the restaurants that we've eaten at in New Orleans. The staff and owner were very friendly, They were in the navy and lived in New Orleans and brought their experience with them. Everything is made from scratch, so it does take a little longer to get your food, so that is expected, but it is well worth the wait. We will definitely be returning there!

I've only been to this place once. I agree with others that it is a bit slow. The food was really good and they employees were very friendly. I ordered the gumbo, I didn't realize that you could order it extra spicy till afterword. I can say that I will be back to try more!

We went to CCG for an early (4PM) dinner on Thursday. There were only three tables filled and the service was gracious and prompt. The Herald paper had a review this morning that was very accurate, so check that out at Heraldnet.com . The only things I'd add to the review are: Hushpuppies were the best I've ever had. They were very crisp on the outside and had a smoky (lard, bacon?) flavor. Not low cal, but deliciousl. They have an interesting beer selection. The Dixie label is southern and the lager (Slow Brewed, I think?) was great with spicy food. They were out of the VooDoo Black, which is apparently popular. There were also a couple local micros and the prices for beer were reasonable. Food portions were generous and prices very reasonable for the quality. They used some great spices, aside from the heat, and I'd compare their stuff favorably to Hilbo's in the early Soul days. Stick with one star if you really want to taste the food - it's plenty hot. DO NOT equate their heat scale with Thai food - it's more of a Richter scale. I think our server was the owner and her warning about the heat was right on. We had the gumbo, shrimp etoufee (sp?), and fried okra. The okra should be on every bar menu. Our server (owner?) said that for large parties you need to call at least one day ahead. She also mentioned that with adequate notice she'll make items which are not on the regular menu. Based on service reviews from other folks, I'd recommend going on an off day or at an off time. Their kitchen is very small and this ain't fast food or steam table fare. We'll be back and take friends next time.

Why oh why can't Alligator Soul come back to life!!!!! I wish I had my fur coat with me. The place was sooooo cold and the service was slow and I mean SLOW, the waitstaff needs better training. The hushpuppies that came on the side needed a big glass of milk to go with them, too spicy in my opinion. Had the mini french dip and it was just aok, I didn't think it was really that special. Most of the food that we tried needed seasoning....even just salt...and I don't salt anything until I have tried it. Bland bland bland....A bit pricy, also....either decrease the prices or increase the portions.....

I would recommend the gumbo. I had the catfish w/reg fries, hush puppies and slaw. My drink was ice tea sweetened. The catfish piece barely had any meat on it. The fries were ordinary, the slaw was swimming in mayo and my ice tea was stale. Need to care more about the quality of their food.

First thing, Alligator Soul left a mighty big pair of shoes to fill when they left. The folks at Cravin' Cajun get automatic style points for having the cajones to step up to it. Secondly, if your yuppiness demands instant gratification or you're on a tight schedule, don't go to a Cajun restaurant...*any* Cajun restaurant. I've always found that with this kind of food you can either have it "right" or you can have it "right now". The first choice is always the best. My SO and I were jonesing for a shrimp Po'Boy so the logical choice was Cravin' Cajun. We were there on a Saturday night. We were cordially greeted and seated promptly enough. The sight and smell of the things coming out of the kitchen severely tested our resolve for a Po'Boy but we prevailed. We ordered a side of fried okra as an appetizer. They were nicely done. Next time though I think I'll ask for a little remoulade on the side if I order them as an appetizer. The sandwiches took a little while to arrive but we weren't in a hurry. I sure couldn't have put those Po'Boys together any faster at home. We like a little heat and somehow the language on the menu led me to ask if the default level of spice was toned down for the delicate Norwegian palates. We wound up asking our waiter to make it like you'd get it in "Loozyana". It was perfect; not so hot as to be a test of ones manhood but just enough to dance with all the components without stepping on toes. The shrimp were perfectly cooked which is more of a trick than most home cooks realize. The sweet potato fries were a little disappointing; the seasoning was excellent but there wasn't a square millimeter of crispy exterior. I'm guessing they aren't done in a deep frier. I had sweet tea which the waiter kept topped up. Most places the serve sweet tea go overboard with the sugar to nearly the point of supersaturation. Not here; it was just sweet enough. For dessert we shared the bread pudding. It's not the best I ever had but I assure you, it's better than what most of us can get at home. I gave them 4 stars because Yelp doesn't have provisions for awarding 1/2 stars. 3 would have been too low but I'm confidant that they'll grow into 4 and then some. I'll be back, probably real soon if I can't get sight and smell of the shrimp ettoufe out of my mind. 2/21/14 Time to revisit and yes, they've polished their act even more. SO and I went on a Friday night. We were greeted warmly and had a short wait. As I said earlier, you can't be a clock watcher in a Cajun restaurant. Given how busy they were I'd say things went fast enough. We ordered the Jerk Chicken skewers for an appetizer. Now let me preface what follows with this; There aren't many places that serve food that I couldn't do as well at home and I'm not prone to giving 5 stars gratuitously. The jerk seasoning was right on. If I didn't know I was in rainy Everett I'd have sworn it came from a roadside jerk stand in Jamaica. SO had the shrimp and grits and I had the crab and shrimp gumbo. Both were excellent to the point of being transcendent. I've spent a good part of my life in the South and I'm fond of seeking out the Mom & Pop joints on the back roads where the locals eat. The food is always the authentic real deal. Our meal matched anything I could have found in any bayou parish. The caveat is the heat scale. We like it hot, 4 to 5 stars in most Thai and Indian restaurants. Cravin Cajun's scale goes from .5 (1/2) to 5. We asked what the default level for the typical "Joe Thibideau" would be. Our waiter said 2, we ordered 3. 3 is pretty hot, just on the edge of too hot even for our vulcanized palettes. Unless you have therapeutic need to clear your sinus (and everything else) or you're attempting to demonstrate your machismo, stick to #2. The menu warns "It gets real hot, real fast" and that's no lie. Hopefully this helps to put it in perspective. We finished it by sharing the bread pudding. It didn't dazzle me last year but this time it was total ambrosia, probably one of the best we've had. Yelp's 5 star rating system doesn't make it easy to quantify the mojo this place has. All I can say is that every dish coming out of that kitchen has a ton of love in it that the 5 stars I'm bumping my rating to doesn't begin to address.

LOVED THIS PLACE!!!!!! Went in the winter and it was a bit cold inside, but believe me, the food made up for it. I had the crab and shrimp jambalaya, it was fantastic. The heat levels get hot real fast. The heat goes from .5 to 5. The thing to remember is that this is not the "heat level" it's how much of the "spicy stuff" they put in what ever size dish you are ordering. So.... If you are having the small jambalaya with a .5 heat level it will be hotter that a large jambalaya at .5, because the .5 is half a teaspoon of the hot stuff. It doesn't matter if you have a large or small, a .5 is half a teaspoon in your dish. Order a 1, 2, 3..... that is how many teaspoons of the hot stuff you are getting in what ever dish you order.

4-17-13.Wow, fried okra with no slime, fried green tomatoes just as fine as the Whistle Stop Cafe turned out. Then the Gumbo, my o my, e'touffèe like N'orleans best, sweet potata friets cinnamon and full of flavor too! Cajun fish & a whole potato spiral cut into fresh made chips. Hush puppies like down home. Then we went home with warm pecan pie in tow. Wow, we can't wait to return. Jazz and Magic nights comming soon. These folks complete the best in the Everett food scene. Bravo!!!

5 stars? Most places I would never give a 5 star rating. I'm not friends with these folks and I'm not family. Portion size was a bit to big for me. Price seamed to low. Not that I mind. I ordered the Philly and, based on the flavor of this huge sandwich , I'll bet their Cajun offerings are even better. I loved the place that was here before. I mean I really loved it, but this is a great replacement. My plate arrived and I wish I had taken a picture of it. It was gorgeous. These cooks have serious skills. Place is cold, as expected, but if I had ordered the more spicey fair I would have liked that.

Great cajun food right in Everett. The Shrimp Etoufee was amazing, as were the fried pickle spears. I tried some of my wife's catfish and hushpuppies-- also great food. The fish was cooked perfectly, tender and flaky without falling apart. The server was friendly and attentive, and the place has a nice "lunch-cafe" atmosphere.

They don't have things prepped and ready to go. After and hour and a half we just canceled fried pickles and hush puppies. Service is terrible...we canceled the beers because they didn't come. Hair in food and they didn't offer to get new...just refund after after 3 bites...so one went away hungry. Food was good..not great and wasn't worth the wait. Fried tomatoes, pickles and hush puppies shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to come up. It shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to get a beer.

Slow, slow, slow service & very inaccurate. Did I mention slow. My wife & I ordered 1 appetizer = fried green tomatoes 2 iced teas I had the catfish poor boy & my wife had the gumbo with both of us having collard greens on the side. It took over an hour before we got our food! We were brought 1 order of fried green tomatoes & that took nearly 40 minutes. The waiter tried to bring us fried pickles with it, something we didn't order. Half hour later another order of fried green tomatoes we didn't order, along with apologies on how long it was taking. You would think maybe the second order was on the house for the long wait, it wasn't. Half hour later the food arrives, but no collard greens to be found. Just as we were finishing our food here comes the greens, I am not big on greens for dessert. Then the bill for 1 order of fried green tomatoes, 2 iced teas, 1catfish poor boy, bowl of gumbo & 2 sides of collard greens = $46 before tip for a lunch bill. The taste of the food was pretty good, BUT. The servers were pleasant enough, but do not know the menu at all. SLOW very inaccurate pricey Food = 4 stars service = 0 stars

Poor service, overpriced and under spiced. My husband's seafood gumbo was more shell than seafood. We waited 10 minutes to order. I had to get up mid meal and get my own water then the waitress came and took the water pitcher away from us! Really? If you had semi decent service I wouldn't have had to go get my own! At the end of the meal I waited almost 15 minutes for the check and was able to catch up on my "words with friends"

Tonight was my first time eating at this restaurant. We were a party of twenty, so take that into consideration. The owner came out and greeted us and congratulated the newlyweds (the reason for our visit). We were assigned two waiters, each was excellent. They were very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. They waited until our entire party arrived to take orders, including drinks. It would have been nice if those of us who arrived on time could have at least had something to drink. Once we got our orders in it took a REALLY long time to get our food. I was finished with my gumbo by the time the person across from me got their food. We were told that the food would come out as soon as the dishes were ready, but this seemed a little extreme. Maybe they need more cooks?? Normally I would have given three stars for slow service, but the food was really, really good. I had the gumbo and hush puppies. Both were excellent. Also, the wait staff was extremely friendly. All in all it was a good experience.

We tried Craving Cajun for the first time tonight and were very pleasantly surprised. This was as good as anything we had in New Orleans and Baton Rouge earlier this year. The Dungeness Crab and Shrimp Gumbo was spiced perfectly, rich and deserving of the awards it has won. My wife had a Shrimp Po' Boy that she said was excellent. Her only complaint was that perhaps there should have been another shrimp or two on the sandwich. It does take a bit longer to prepare the meals than in most restaurants but, believe us, it's worth a few more minutes as they are obviously putting a lot of care into the dishes they're serving. I hope this place catches on in Everett and that they find a good steady customer base.

We were craving some heat on a cool rainy evening. Everything here has some "kick" to it, and they will turn up the heat if you request it. The hush puppies and fried green tomatoes didn't excite us, but our main dishes - blackened shrimp and grits and shrimp jambalaya satisfied. Bread pudding for dessert had great whisky sauce - yum! So often you can't even tell there's alcohol in the hard sauce. Service was attentive. Atmosphere could be improved - a bit like a cheap diner. Maybe you should visit so they have more funds to decorate. Goal accomplished - we left all warmed up.

Oh my gosh, where to begin. I absolutely love this restaurant. They have so many delicious choices, and the food is always hot and fresh. We have eaten here probably way more than we should haha. We know that the service is not super fast, but we take comfort knowing that the reason it is not fast is because they are in the back making your meal as perfect as it could possibly be. I don't mind the wait if the food is going to be this good! The staff is also amazing. Every single employee they have is just so down to earth and nice, we just love going here. This is definitely a hidden gem in Everett. If you haven't eaten here, you are missing out.

I paid $22 for a small cup of soup. Obscenely expensive! The menu listed the gumbo as $14, but I was told "extra costs" were added for the meat, which was listed on the menu as being in the soup. $22 for a small cup of soup and white rice. I left still feeling hungry. I assume this must be the reason that no menu is posted outside the restaurant, to browse before coming in -- because if you saw such a price, you simply wouldnt come in! Loud aggressive screaming funk music played throughout the dining (waiting) experience. That James Brown squeal sure didn't make for a relaxing atmosphere. The wait was very long...everyone in the restaurant kept looking at their plates and eachother, annoyed as they continued to wait, past the one hour mark. Apparently, things go much slower down South! THAT'S the authentic experience we must be paying so much for here.

Craving Cajun decided to grace Ballard with their glacially slow service this weekend, and I only wish we had bothered to look it up first. If I had realized that they typically take 45 minutes to serve customers water at their Everett location, then I never would have expected bland-looking food in a reasonable amount of time. - The staff were unfriendly and completely discombobulated. Everyone shuffled around with no purpose and touched every food/utensil/ticket multiple times. - They never called the name on our ticket, and after 20 minutes and other patrons being served the same item, we inquired about ours. No one among the 5 staff members could figure out when or where the order had gone, and offered up no apology or explanation. - I wish I could speak to the taste of their food, but after another 15 minutes of waiting, and watching the staff bumble over each other when they weren't just chewing the fat with their pals, we decided to get a refund and cut our losses. The woman at the register seemed neither sorry nor surprised. I wonder why. Life is short, and your time is spent better ANYWHERE else.

I came here based on the recommendation of a friend who used to live in the South and I am really glad I tried it. The Dungeness crab and shrimp gumbo at the spice level of 1 is quite spicy (I usually eat 4 star spiciness at Thai places), yet very flavorful. The Grilled Caribbean Jerk Chicken as appetizer is also very nicely done, juicy and cooked just right. Their Hushpuppies are awesome too. Can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu!!!!

My friend and I were quite hungover from St Patty's Day and were in desperate need of food. At first we were getting pho but saw Craving Cajun. My friend was raised in Louisiana and I just traveled to New Orleans and we both love good (key word) authentic Cajun food. It's a cute place. The waiter was very nice and we were seated within a minute. The menu was slightly pricey but everything looked amazing. We opted for the fried green tomatoes with a spicy sauce, I ordered the shrimp etouffee, and he got the red beans and rice. Our wait was a bit extensive, but it looked like the kid was there alone. The fried green tomatoes were amazing! Not too heavily breaded, and the sauce was great. Everything was fresh. My etouffee was seriously off the charts. Very appropriately seasoned. The shrimp was plump, charred and seasoned with an awesome Cajun kick, and the hushpuppies were golden and melted in your mouth. My friend's red beans and rice is normally a side but it too was delicious and well seasoned. I will definitely be coming back here, and telling more people to go! Well worth the wait :)

My first experience with Craving Crazy Cajun was at Tour De Terrace (a little town fair in Mountlake Terrace). After I had one of their Jamaican Jerk Chicken skewers and Ribbon Fries I was hooked! I've been meaning to venture to their actual restaurant ever since trying it for the first time. I finally took my hunnie this past Saturday. The restaurant is located in the heart of downtown Everett with ample street parking. We were seated right away upon arriving. I do strongly suggest making reservations however because it definitely got very busy later and a line started to form. The restaurant is pretty small but quaint and the decor matched the theme of the restaurant beautifully. Before ordering you should know that the spicy level here is a little crazy. A 2 star here is equivalent to a 4 star at a Thai restaurant. It goes from 0.5 to 9 here! Tread carefully. We HAD to order the skewers and Ribbon fries again (too good not to), as well as the Blackened Salmon Caesar and The Shrimp and Grits. The skewers and fries were excellent and not to be missed. I also thought the Shrimp and Grits were amazing. The shrimp were plump and juicy and the grits were perfectly cooked and the flavor of the the dish overall was out of this world. The salmon was a little dry and the Caesar was okay but nothing special. The garlic bread it came with was awesome though. My only gripe is that it took FOREVER for our food to come out! It took about 20 minutes just for our appetizers to come out and another 15- 20 for our mains. Service was pretty great and you could tell that they were putting our quality food so it made it not so bad. I think they only have one chef in there doing everything! This place is a one of a kind gem in the middle of Everett, we will definitely be back!

Delicious! The food here is amazing. And the hush puppies are perfect! You can't pass up their grits, they are to die for. Only draw backs are that they are a little pricey, and the the portions are a little small for how much your paying.

We stopped here as a group on the way back from a business trip in Seattle. Very friendly service and a little gem in a small town. 3 of us ordered the gumbo, it was super tasty but be mindful of the heat. The 2 is super hot and the 3 is beyond what most can tolerate. One of us learned that the hard way. The corn bread is also soft and fluffy and great on the side.

Best Cajun food west of the Mississippi! I've been going to New Orleans for the last 20 years, so I've eaten my share of creole/Cajun food. I stumbled in to Craving Cajun Grill two weeks ago, a little more than skeptical of legit food in Everett to say the least but my mind and tastebuds where blown away! A+ service A+++ food

Great place to eat if you have time to kill. The food has been spot on every time I have visited. The staff has always been friendly and pleasant to interact with. They make everything to order so it does take some time to get food out to you, but trust me it is worth the weight. It's not the fanciest place to visit but I don't think that is what they were going for anyways.

Seriously... I've never been to a restaurant with such a long wait time on food. It wasn't even the weekend, rather a regular weekday evening with hardly 4 couples in the restaurant.. that's it and it took them over 50 mins to get our food order out. We ordered for the gumbo, hush puppies, fried okra and the fish and chips. The food was ok... the hush puppies though were really good, but the rest of the food wasn't at all worth the wait time.. I wont be going here again.

Ok- my only gripe was how long it took for our food to get to the table. Seemed to take forever. But, the food is so amazing! It IS worth the wait!!

We stumbled upon this Cajun palace thanks to Yelp (and UrbanSpoon verification from another member of our party). Jen, Peter, Stefan, and I proceeded to order pretty much the whole menu. Consensus? Shrimp and grtis = crowd favorite. Gumbo is good, but not like the way I had it back home, and the Bouillabaisse is delicious and full of seafood goodness, but I probably wouldn't order it by myself because it's so rich. The fried catfish is delish, but deep fried, so not the healthiest, but honestly, who cares, right? And the fried green tomatoes? Same deal. The chef measure heat by the number of teaspoon of pepper seasoning he puts in. So if you are ordering a small dish, 1/2 is plenty hot. 1 is way way too hot. And believe them when they say the heat goes up hella fast. Haven't found anything remotely close to real cajun food since moving up to Seattle, so I'm pretty psyched. Is it like the stuff back home? Not really, but I'll take what I can get.

Good golly, miss molly! After getting back from Nawlins a few weeks ago, my standards for real cajun food were pretty high. It was a group of 7, so the wait was understandable. It goes without saying, if the food requires no additional sauces or seasoning other than what momma gives you, you've done it right. Had some excellent Shrimp & Grits, came with two perfectly cooked hushpuppies and a fried green tomato. My old man was with us, ordered a cup of coffee. When the coffee maker was having issues, instead of bringing a substandard cup of coffee, our server made sure to tell us first. High standards and terrific food. Can I say best cajun food outside of Nawlins? Yes? Very well. Best food out of Nawlins. Go there and eat. Do it. Do it now.

Went to lunch here today. Over an hour wait for water. I wanted to get up and leave several times. But I was really wanting to try this food. I ordered the catfish. Took about an hour and 20 minutes total until any type of food was on the table....and it was awful. It's not to hard to screw up catfish. Pretty sure it was just a frozen Safeway box. The seasoning was so salty it immediately just dried out my mouth. Small portions for the price. It's not a very kid friendly spot either. Btw. I am from the south and this is humiliating to our standards of flavor and southern hospitality. Save yourself and go to the Hawaiian spot up the road. Better food and a better experience. Unless your craving cajun. Then I would just head to Seattle. I will never be back and will not recommend to anyone.

Another case where they couldn't get food on a table. It took almost half an hour to get an appetizer of fries (seriously, chopped potatoes, fryer, done) fifteen minutes for a cup of coffee, over forty minutes for shrimp (also fried) and then the question "Anything else for you?" Yes. The other entree. After another 20 minutes waiting for etouffee (c'mon, its a staple) I gave up, only to hear the waitress comment "Now he doesn't want it." Big surprise. I paid eight dollars for half a poorly fried sweet potato and six ounces of coffee. My friend paid eighteen dollars for six fried shrimp. I would pay it again to have the hour back.

Been to many "Cajun" restaurants, but I gotta tell you this is by far is "the icing on the cake". I had the gumbo, the spices were right on and the portions are definetely plenty. Also had the fried green tomatoes, deep fried oysters, ribbon fries. At a previous date I had the jumbalaya. Haven't foynd one thing on the menu I didn't like. Customer service was spot on. They definetely have a customer for life.

Probably the worst dining experience I've ever been subjected to. I went expecting to have a small lunch and go about my business. Unfortunately it took 25 minutes for an appetizer, which was marginal at best. Ribbon fries which were burnt. At the 45 minute mark we asked for lunch to be boxed to go. 10 minutes later it arrived. This was not a busy time, there were only 4 other tables. The meal was a standard with no substitutions. Shrimp and grits and a salad? One hour? This is inexcusable.

Fried green tomatoes and catfish po boy were good. The service and wait time was terrible. The restaurant only had 1/4 of the tables filled but it took over 45 min to bring out our food. We looked around and no one else had food either. Everyone had the same "where's my damn food" looks on their faces. They need to get their kitchen situation figured out. That was ridiculous.

The food was delicious! The fried green tomatoes are a must try! We both had the Blackened Salmon Caesar. The salmon was prepared perfectly, the salad had just the right amount of dressing and get this, they had nice size pieces of bacon in lieu of croutons! Oh yeah! They were really busy so the service left a bit to be desired, however for the price point, I wasn't completely dissatisfied.

The food here is as close to authentic as I've had since leaving the Big Easy. Wife and I stopped in for an early dinner. We were greeted at the door by a very pleasant lady (momma Bowen?) and quickly seated and given drinks while we looked over the ample menu. Lots of choices. I ordered the Oyster Po'Boy (dressed of course) with sweet potato fries and a side of fried Okra. My sweet wife ordered the Gumbo and Hush Puppies. Gumbo was spiced just right with plenty of crab and shrimp. Hush Puppies are light crispy outside, soft and flavorful inside. Fired Okra was perfectly crisp and seasoned perfectly. While the sweet potato fries were tasty, they were a bit soggy, (I know they are hard to get crispy). Certainly didn't stop me from polishing them off. :-) My Oyster Po'Boy was excellent. Oysters were juicy and tasted fresh. The French bread was buttered and toasted to perfection. Sauce was amazing as well. We finished things off with the Bread Pudding with Jacks Daniels Sauce. Oh my, a taste of heaven right there. The atmosphere was slow with some decent background music. Food was delivered quickly, but we were the only patrons for the first 20 minutes or so. Like I said, it was an early dinner (4:30pm). The place itself could use a little "de-cluttering" near the back. Having to walk through piles of stored items to get to the restroom was not too pleasing. I absolutely recommend you give them a try. Grab a table at the front and enjoy people watching while you have some very tasty, down home Cajun Cuisine. Don't forget to have some Sweet Tea! ;-)

I've been wanting to try this place, and finally decided to make reservations for the magic show tonight. I am SO GLAD I did. The environment is so welcoming. Everyone who is working has a smile on their face and it feels like you're eating at someone's house. Really comfortable and laid back, I wasn't embarrassed to enjoy myself or laugh out loud. The wait... yes it does take a little while, but I don't find waiting and enjoying the company I'm with to be a bad thing. I didn't feel rushed to be out of there, and I enjoyed the leisure time. And honestly, the appetizers were so good that I almost got full off of those, so I'm glad it was a slower pace. And the food... oh, man.. SO good. Definitely beyond worth the wait. The jerk chicken was so tender, the okra and sweet potato fries were just on point. Entrées ordered were the cajun spaghetti (I'm not a fan of lots of seafood) and the Dungeness crap and shrimp gumbo. Both of us were speechless with how good they tasted--and the portion sizes as a small were insane. DEFINITELY try this place if you're looking for a little spice to your normal food routine. Highly recommended!

This place is just plain awesome. It's a family owned restaurant....mom and dad do the cooking and the son was our waiter. The food takes awhile to get to your table, but it's because they are preparing each dish fresh and cooked to order. We started with hushpuppies and fried pickles for an appetizer while drinking our Stellas and both were delicious. My mouth is watering just from thinking about those pickles. I got the fried catfish which was delicious, and my friend got some kind of meat over grits which she absolutely went crazy over. We wanted to go back the next day but they are closed on Sundays and Mondays, and we had to leave Tuesday since we were just visiting from out of town. If I ever go back to Everett, I will definitely be returning for this authentic and delicious cajun food.

The only reveiws you should consider are the ones that say over an hr for service. just waited an hr for a glass of water and 2 for food...service sucks i should have walked out but i wanted cajun...then came the even worse food was pouring grease and no flavor. Do yourself a favor..and save the frustration.

Very nice dinner! I had my first shrimp po boy and it was delicious! My friend had a nice blackened Caesar salad and our youngest dining companion had the grilled cheese. Pros: nice, friendly waiter; tasty food; clean and comfortable restaurant. Cons: not very many selections for kids, long wait time for entrees, and a can of pop was $2.50. I will definitely go back to try the shrimp and grits!

We had been wanting to try Craving Cajun Grill for lunch after driving by many times. Entering a cheerfully decorated New Orleans Mardi Gras style space and being greeted by Ryan we felt comfortable and proceeded to review the menu. We found fried green tomatoes, jerk chicken appetizers, sweet potato fries and hush-puppies. The entrees we selected were Gumbo and the Shrimp & Grits... Both were very tasty, seasoned well and palate pleasing. The reason this restaurant didn't get an entire 5 star rating is due to the item prices. For a small bowl, which is a decent portion- but not equivalent to the value for the amount of food received, the prices are very high. With two entrees, no appetizer, no drinks and a 10% off coupon, our bill was over $30.00.

I would love to write a scathing review about this company after the back and forth I've had with them via email. However, to keep it short I'll say SAVE YOUR MONEY. This place is over priced for TINY portions and mediocre food. It would've been more satisfying to throw my $49 in the trash can. Worst culinary experience I've had in Washington.

I'd say it was the best cajun since New Orleans, but it was actually better than that! For lunch I just had the BEST crab and shrimp gumbo I've ever had. The portion size was generous, too. Especially considering I got the 'small'. They don't give their food away, but it was absolutely worth every cent. (And for those saying that the food was a little slow coming out - well yeah. Good fresh food takes a little time! If you're in a rush though, try the gumbo. It was out in a jiffy.) I word of warning though, they don't mess around with their spice levels. Their 'one' in the small gumbo was about the equivalent of area Thai restaurants' 3.5 - 4. It was a really good spice kick!

We put in our order for dinner at 6:35 and were told it would probably be 35 min and that we should probably order an appetizer to tie us ofer. We did. After 45 min we asked about the appetizer and our waiter said that he would check on our order. The appetizer never arrived. He came back and said that our order was being played. After 55 min, we walked out.

OK, I've wanted to update this review for awhile. I've since ordered the shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes. The fried green tomatoes had a very dense, thick cornmeal like, heavy, crumbly Creole batter on them. I've had this dish in the south and the batter should be like a tempura batter..light, soft, almost see through. I don't know what the hell this restaurant thinks its doing but its a waste of a good green tomatoe. Its like eating a rubber tire instead of a flaky croissant. FAIL The shrimp and grits fared better. The grits were thick and very tasty and the creole sauce was well spiced and flavorful. The shrimp were done well and tasty but here's my gripe, you only get FOUR shrimp??? Really?? For a whopping $15 I sure as hell expect more than 4 damn shrimp on my plate. For that price I would expect double that amount. FAIL Let's not forget the service at this place. I have never seen such a cluster fuck like this. Its like going to a 5star restaurant and being greated and served by drunk frat guys. The "waiters" all had to be teenagers and were dressed like greasy hipster hippy want to bees that have no idea of how this works. It took 15 min to get a menu or water and it took 45 mins for my food! There were only 2 other people there. All the staff did was hang out with each other and laugh a lot with the kitchen staff. Screw this place. Shitty service and hit and miss food. I'm done.

I was in Everett to see Deep Sea Diver and Tangerine. After getting tickets at the door and finding out that the venue doesn't serve any food my companions and I checked Yelp for nearby options. I saw this place and we all agreed it was our first choice among several that looked appealing. We must have walked in right about closing time because the friendly greeting we got also informed us that we would be the last folks to be seated for the evening. The menu looked great and I found the service good - helpful, respectful, attentive, maybe a tad slow. I ordered a mixed drink and our waiter made it himself - this, after he chatted with me a bit about just what I wanted and how I liked it. It was a fruity but not too sweet peach and whiskey drink with fresh thyme and I enjoyed it. We wanted to try lots of food choices so we ordered one of every appetizer and a bowl of shrimp gumbo. Everything was excellent except perhaps the hush puppies which were approaching 'too done' but as the waiter set them down he told us they were the last of the day and because they were overly browned and extra thick on the batter that they were on the house. I loved the fried okra and the red beans and rice along with the gumbo. They do take reservations and apparently are reasonably busy on weekends because they highly recommended making a reservation next time (after we told them we'd definitely return.) It was the kind of good that makes you want to come back and I am bringing my wife and two young kids here for dinner tonight before I attend and provide roadie duties for a Bleachbear show. Looking forward to a second experience!

This place was pretty darn good!! The food was tasty and the place does stuff like music etc on Fridays although we haven't experienced it. The only adverse thing I could say is I wish they had a chicken meal of sorts. I'm not really into seafood and had to order a bunch of sides to make a full meal...but everything I got was great. The only other thing would be if they had more pork free options. The greens come made with either turkey or pork but the beans didn't have that option. All in all a great place with great food.

Went here on a whim while visiting family. We had some of the best Cajun food we've ever had! Great spices and flavor. The spicy shrimp and the gumbo and hushpuppies were to die for. Can't wait to go back!

Blackened salmon ceasar salad, excellent. Service, terrible. I waited 32 min for a damn salad. So damn good, way too damn long to get it. I would love to go back and try more off the menu, if I have time. Another couple waiting before myself were told they're order was lost. Yikes.

We had shrimp and grits with sides of red beans and rice with turkey greens. Loved the shrimp and grits and red beans but the turkey greens were just OK. Because they cook everything to order I wish there were something on the menu small to order why you wait. Love the atmosphere and the server was very polite and attentive. We will definitely be coming back!

We shared alligator bites, fried green toms, creole shrimp with grits and jerk chicken. Food was perfect, truly cajun, really nice folks serving. It can be a little slow, but its worth the wait. Come support good cajun food.

Was good food, very slow they were a little busy but the water did not even come for like 20 minutes. They have lots of awards but they need to taste the fries once in a while b4 putting MORE salt....over kill on salt shaker.

I hate to harsh on a small business but have to. We had a reservation for 630 because we had a show to see at 8. Plentry of time we thought. ... well 2 hours later we were finally leaving with only takeout. Only about 12 tables but very little coming out of kitchen. To be fair the oyster and catfish po boy, cheesesteak sandwich, and shrimp with grits tasted good cold on the way home.

The food is delicious and they have live music! so 4stars for that... Sadly, that's the only thing great about it. Its family run and you can see the passion the family has in this business but their waiters need more training! They are sooo slow and lack hospitality, although you can tell that they really do try... go ahead and give it a try just make sure you're not starving when you do...it'll be a while.

I just got done eating here with my brother and husband. Originally we were going to try the Hawaiian place near by but it was closed. The food exceeded my expectations! And the service here was great too. I loved everything about dining here. I ordered the fish fry (2 pieces of cod, 2 pieces of catfish, 2 pieces of shrimp, and 2 oysters) and it was delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly. Their fried okra, hush puppies and fried green tomatoes were really good too. I'll definitely be back to try more!

dysfunctional and chaotic, dont even bother. check out the back room where you must pass thru to use restrooms and you will see the nasty mess that permeates this place. Waited over an 1hr with extended family for our food.Had asked waiter about spiciness level of the jerk chicken for my daughter who has had this type of food many times but likes the jerk spice at a low level. waiter assured us the "made to order" food could be taken down to acceptable level. When the food finally arrived, he threw the 3 plates down, my daughter took a bite and cringed. I asked him which plate was her special order and with telling hesitation, he said "that 1", pointing to her plate. i asked him, politely, to take it back as it was not acceptable. He sent the cook out, who came to our table, grim and sullen, ready to fight. (She had a serious game face on, food conflict was no first rodeo for her). She scolded us all, deflecting all blame for their lack of efficiency by yelling that each dish is cooked individually, and that the spice rubs are all the same spice level, made the same way and that this food was spicy, didnt we know that? i let her know that we were familar with spicy food & told her that was not what the waiter told us, and she quickly glossed over that point, said that he was her son and that she "could take care of him." She then demanded belligerently and with insincere challenge, "how could she make it better?" I was almost scared, her words were so inconsistent with her facial expression. My husband stated that she could start by getting her waiter not to lie. I just wanted to end the horror and cancelled the remaining orders that still had not arrived.

Met a friend here for lunch. We both got the blackened salmon (caesar) salad. They had no problem with our picky requests (no croutons/bacon, different dressing, dressing on the side) and got our orders right. As others have said, the service was slow. However, it was worth it! The salmon was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. The salad was fresh and the parmesan cheese was great quality. Though the cooking was slow, they were quick to refill our waters and see if we needed anything else. From the time we got there to the time we left took 70 minutes. We ate slow and had a good time catching up. I would definitely go there again if I have time to kill. But if you are in a hurry, I would go elsewhere.

The food was delicious had a lot of Cajun flavor, a type of comfort food that will make you beg for more. I will definitely will be revisiting this place, we had an outstanding experience. The waiter was an outstanding server and also honest about an error that he had made. If I ever get a craving at 3 o'clock in the morning for some crawfish it'll be this places fault and thats the only negative thing that I could say about this place I will be returning soon...

This place is AMAZING! I've been in the area for nearly four years and never heard about this place. The food is delightfully spicy, at a .5 to 5 scale: I had the jerk chicken skewers at a 2 (recommended by the server), and it was wonderful, but not spicy enough for this guy. I had the Shrimp and Dungeness Gumbo w/sausage--at a 3--and it was amazeballs. My nose was running and my eyes were a little teary--which is just how I like it--but next time I'm going to try level 4. They make a pretty stiff Hurricane as well. I'm sad to be leaving the area soon, as I'm sure to miss eating here, but I plan on stopping by at least once more before that happens.

Well...dining at this restaurant was an adventure, to say the least! My dad bought a $10 for $20 Herald Daily Deal, like a Groupon, for Craving Cajun Grill. He realized this week that it expired on August 15th (today) and my parents planned to use the deal on Monday, only to find online that the restaurant is closed Mondays. I flew into town from San Diego to visit on Tuesday and they planned that the three of us would have dinner here on Wednesday. We drove over from Snohomish last night and the restaurant was inexplicably closed. We arrived just after 6 p.m. and the hours were listed as being open until 8 p.m. and yet the restaurant was dark. Slightly annoying but we figured that we would just come in for lunch today, the final day of the coupon. Which brings us up to today's lunch. After calling ahead to make sure that the restaurant was open, my mom and I stopped by around 2 p.m. and the adventure began anew! We were greeted right away and sat at a small table near the windows. After perusing the menu, we decided to order the blackened salmon caesar salad and the french dip sandwich to share. And this is where our problems start. We were informed that the restaurant is out of the beef for the sandwich. Considering that almost everything else on the menu is seafood (and aside from salmon, I don't eat seafood), this left us with a difficult decision. Ultimately, after a 15 minute discussion, we decide that we'll order something to go for my dad, since he wasn't able to join us for lunch, and that we'll share the salmon salad. After all, we needed to spend $20 and the salad was just $13. The waitress comes back and my mom tells her the whole story about how we tried to eat here a couple times before this week and how we've decided to order the gumbo for my dad. The waitress then informs us that the coupon is no longer valid. Come again now!?! The coupon clearly states that it expires on August 15th. In every other circumstance, this would mean that today was the last day to use the coupon. But in this restaurant's mixed up world, it means that the coupon expired yesterday. The waitress tried to tell us that different restaurants make up different rules for when deals expire but this is the first place that I've ever been with this definition of an expiration date. She even mentioned that she'd had to turn down several other customer's coupons today. What ever happened to trying to make the customer happy? Instead, she said that they're a new business and somehow that's supposed to explain their decision to not honor a valid coupon. Shouldn't they, as a new business, be trying to make people happy enough to return? Add in the fact that they were "conveniently" closed on the day that they decided would be the last day you could use the coupon and it all just gets more ridiculous. We canceled the order on our gumbo but kept our salad as we still had to use the original $10 value of the deal or lose it. I'll admit that from this point on, the experience was better. The salad and salmon were delicious. Unlike other restaurants that serve salad with barely any dressing, the salad had plenty of caesar, along with parmesan cheese. My mom and I both agree that the salad was amazing! However, based on the difficulty of dining here and the poor customer service, I can't give this restaurant more than two stars (and the high quality of food is the only reason I can even offer two stars).

I had pretty much the same experience as Roseric P. wrote about below (I think we might have been there at the same time). I was excited to try this place after seeing the positive reviews on here. But, this was easily the slowest service I have ever experienced. I came in with one other person a little after 5pm before the Silvertips game. There were maybe three other tables occupied when we got there. Our orders were taken shortly we were seated because it was slow at that point. I tried ordering gumbo, but I was told that wouldn't be available for another hour, so I ordered something else (little did I know nothing would be ready in the next hour!). Then the place began to fill up, as would be expected in any restaurant in the area before a Silvertips game on a Saturday night. Then we waited. Our appetizer of sweet potato fries was delivered to our table about half an hour after we ordered. There was no ketchup or anything to dip the fries into, and our server never came by after that to give us a chance to ask for some. We then waited another 40 minutes or so and our entrees never came out, so we paid for our appetizer and left in order to make the game in time, It had been over an hour after ordering. Having to settle for fish & chips from the arena concessions was a total bummer. The place was full and not a single table had food on it (at least the ones I could see from our table). I have never seen anything like that before. In the 1.25 hours we were there, we only heard the bell ding three times to let the servers know that food was ready. The third time, nobody came to pick up the food for about 10 minutes... it was still sitting there when we left. Not sure exactly what was going on. I hate to write a negative review like this, but I just want people to be aware that if you go, you might need to dedicate your whole night to being there -- and you might want to eat a snack before. They just don't seem to be able to handle a busy restaurant.

I was called a tweeker. I was severely disappointed. I recently over the weekend went to a festival out in I believe Mountlake Terrace area. the owners of craving Cajun had a food stand - my boyfriend & I decided that we wanted to get some Fried shrimp and alligator we paid $20 so $10 per dish we patiently waited 15-20 minutes there was no one else in line and we decided that you know we wouldn't want to wait any longer we were hungry so we were going to get something else we politely asked for money back the man who owns the craving Cajun who was also running the stand threw the money at us and called us tweekers. My boyfriend and I are both in our mid 20s we're not large people we both way under 130 pounds neither of us have track marks or scabs on our faces we are both very hard-working people and I did not appreciate the fact that this so-called restaurant owner called us tweekers. He is a racist black man who can't control his mouth that is not how you speak to a customer Who wasn't even being rude we were extremely polite when asking for our money back we weren't disrespectful we just simply didn't want to wait 30 minutes for fried food. I will not support a racist asshole I will never go to the cravin Cajun and I suggest if you don't want to be disrespected you don't either.

I got the crab and shrimp gumbo and it was fantastic. My mom got the shrimp and cheesy grits and it was even better. But be prepared for a rich buttery cheesy mix. It's like if buttery mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese had a kid. Then they put this amazing red sauce on top and stick 4 sweet blackened shrimp on top. Amazing. Also get some fried green tomatoes because they are incredible! Great service and atmosphere. Definitely coming back asap!

Beware! Very slow service! We went in before 3 in the afternoon on Saturday. We waited for 30 mins or longer for the food. Only a guy went into the restaurant at the same time. So we had to wait for the chef to finish his meal before cooking ours. We ordered the Shrimp & Grits and Dungeness Crab & Shrimp Gumbo. The shrimps were succulent and grits were creamy. The gumbo had a few pieces of Dungeness crab on top and shrimps were mixed in the gumbo. You can taste that there were lots of spice to get to that flavor. It was good, might be strong for some people. Both plates came with two hush puppies, but it was a little greasy on the side it was seating on. It is pricey! The server was very friendly and attentive. The owner was very nice to talk to.

Ordered a Po' Boy to go 15 minutes before I went to pick it up. Menu states Guaranteed in 15 minutes or less and invites patrons to either eat-in or carry out. They fail to say there is a $1.00 to-go fee. Most likely cause they don't make tips on to-go orders. My $8 Po' Boy was over $10 makin me a Po' Boy! And I had to wait another 15 minutes when I got it. If this place changes it up a bit and doesn't charge customers to pick up their own orders and stuck to their Guaranteed time then maybe they'd have more customers??

Husband's birthday and decided to try a new soul restaurant. Little bit disappointed Ordered fried shrimp, philly sandwich, hush puppies, and fried dill pickles. The hush puppies were cold in the middle and dense. They offered to re-do them but declined. Can tell they were pre-done and refried. The shrimp was nothing spectacular. My husband liked the sandwich and dill pickles. Will try once more to see if the other dishes are better.

2nd time here and things were so much better than before. The food is undeniably cajun but a bit salty for me but my dinner guest loved it. I will come again as I feel they have something here and I love cajun food so! Give me a try!

First thing: bring a coat. It's awfully cold in here! Second: add some patience. The staff is a little slow. Side orders (listed separately than appetizers) do come out before your meal, so there's that. A little weird and unexpected. Portions were large and I suppose that's how they justify the pricing. However, for a restaurant specifically serving Cajun food I expected a spice. The shrimp on my po'boy were completely bland. Fried okra was bland. Blackened salmon was spiced but didn't have much heat to it. The hush puppies were great, though. Also, the menu feels very disconnected. You'll find a French dip and a Philly cheesesteak (wit Whiz even!) alongside typical Cajun fare like gumbo and red beans & rice. Bottom line: I don't see myself coming back anytime soon, which is too bad because a great Cajun restaurant would be nice to have in the area again. Edit: A few days after posting my review, I received the following message from Craving Cajun: "My oh my aren't you disconnected! New Orleans was founded by the French......" I found this pretty surprising and unprofessional as they were clearly taking a shot at me due to my review. Instead of offering to make my next experience better they basically called me an idiot. Frankly, I don't consider a French Dip sandwich anymore French than I do French Fries. And that still doesn't explain the Philly Cheesesteak on the menu. Maybe New Orleans was founded by French Philadelphians? Who knows... regardless, I won't be going back now. I may have given the food a second chance because it wasn't all bad, but I refuse to support this kind of ownership.

We stumbled upon this place completely by accident last night - no idea that something had gone into the Stuff what I Like spot so quickly. Lucky accident for us because the food was awesome! I like menus that are short and to the point. There isn't an overkill of options, and you know that the kitchen has each item down to a science (or at least you hope they do). We started with the fried pickles, which is one of my favorite unhealthy treats. These were of excellent quality: the pickles still fairly crisp and flavorful, and the batter light but almost spicy. For our dinners I had the gumbo, which was massive and chocked full with good quality sausage, seafood, and flavors. My husband did the etouffee, which left us both wishing that we could have some more of it (that isn't to say that the portion wasn't ample, it was just that tasty). On top of it all, the service was quick and friendly, which is so key. We managed to leave absolutely stuffed for about $30, which we both felt was a reasonable cost for a night out. I hope these guys stick around - they've got an excellent location and a fantastic product. My only concern is that they close at 6pm most week nights, which really cuts into dinner traffic. Thankfully they offer lunch specials (I work reasonably close), and they're open later on the weekend.

The food at Craving Cajun Grill was delicious - if I were rating that alone, I would be giving the restaurant a 4.5 at least. The waitstaff were extremely friendly but service was crazy slow. From the time we walked into the restaurant until we paid our bill and walked out, my husband and I were there for around 3 hours. Between appetizers, entrees and desserts, I think we spent more time waiting than eating. I would love to come back and give Craving Cajun Grill another try, though.

What a hidden gem! This place is super cute, laid back, and the food was FANTASTIC! I had the shrimp and grits, which was super creamy, flavorful, and pleasantly spicy. This was a stellar dish for $13. Service was great, too. Maybe skip the drinks though...I ordered a hurricane and it was wayyyy too sweet.

This is my first time here! I was excited to try something new. Disappointed they did not honor the 10% off your Order if you check in on yelp discount. It's bit pricy but that is the nature of gumbo. The service is slow for only about 10 people being here. It was so slow the people who came with me wanted to leave. The staff needs to know what's up and should not have to run ask someone the question you just asked them every time. Eventually our food came and it was worth the wait. Really flavorful and really good. If they could get the wait time down it would be better. The food is carrying this place but good food can only do so much.

Omg...this is my new favorite restaurant! I don't even know where to start...this place is simply 'the bomb'! Calvin and Cynthia (the owners) are amazing chefs and super friendly too! First of all, do yourself a favor and get the sweet tea...it's REAL southern sweet tea! After living in the south, I learned what real sweet tea was but hadn't been able to find it here unless I made it; however, these folks do it right! Secondly, you must try the hush puppies...super crispy outside, soft inside and very flavorful. The coleslaw is creamy and tangy, the potato salad is great and the crab gumbo...to die for! The catfish is perfectly seasoned and fried as are the oysters. If you like hot sauce, ask Calvin for the hot sauce that he makes himself...delightful! Don't forget the homemade bread pudding with whipped cream and whiskey sauce...we will definitely be frequent flyers!

I ordered Blackened Salmon over Ceasar Salad. It was good but nothing special. My wife ordered Seafood Gumbo which was great but too salty for my taste (I always cook without salt). Most people would love it though. The waiter jumped the gun on pre-bussing our table. I don't like people to asked if they can clear my plate when I am chewing on food and have my fork in my hand -especially if they have to interrupt a conversation to ask.

Where to start! I stumbled across this restaurant on Yelp which I frequently look up new restaurants with good ratings to try out. This had pretty good reviews and I had never tried anything Cajun before. I scanned over the menu online and realized very quickly that with my shellfish allergy this may not be an option. I figured I would give emailing the restaurant a try and see if they could accommodate my needs to have everything cooked separately, away from all the other fish. WOW! Talk about customer service. I received an email from the owner and was asked what I would like to try and when I would be in! I came in with a group of 4. I asked to speak to the Owner and they already knew who I was and were waiting for me. She prepared the most delicious pasta dish and fried pickles for me. YUM YUM YUM. The others at my table ordered Shrimp Jambalaya, Dungeness Crab Gumbo, Fried Okra and Catfish and Hushpuppies. Everyone was VERY satisfied with their dish. I have no other Cajun food to compare it to but it was DELICIOUS and I will definitely be back! Above and beyond customer service and amazing food. I think I will try the Cheese Steak Sandwich next time! Their seasonings are very tasty. Another cool thing, I love tabasco, and they had this really cool tabasco salt! Yum! Only side note: I do wish they had bigger water glasses to wash down all the delicious food!

Can't complain, everything we tried was great and on point. We had fried pickles, collard greens(which by the way was the best I have ever had, sorry grandma lol) we ordered crab and shrimp gumbo, Cajun spicy shrimp and the bread pudding was great it does have a slight whiskey kick to it. Awesome.. And they are a military family

Overall, the seasoning is close to the coastal Cajun we grew up eating in diners and kinfolk's kitchens across the South-Eastern coast. A bit ... bland (for our tastes) for all that, but still good. (From other reviews, suspect they might be catering to this region.) If you want it *hot*, you can ask for it, but Cajun isn't "just pour on the heat": That's what the hot sauces are for. Cajun is about the flavor combination, and they mostly get it right. Gumbo comes with crab in shell - very good flavor. Lots of sausage and shrimp as well. Gumbo being the curry or chili of the bayou region, everyone has their own family style; they're all different, and all good. Fried okra - golden and perfectly fried, most of the time (Once they could have left the fryer a minute earlier, but still good.) Red beans and rice, his go-to order, is seasoned well; suspect someone in the kitchen has had them on more than one Tuesday wash day growing up. Good, with a large hunk of ham hock. Sweet cornbread hush-puppies, like the ones we grew up with. Done very well, but we couldn't figure out the OMG reviews for them until we realized that maybe not everyone knows that hush-puppies are just supposed to taste like that. Fried shrimp, large, well seasoned, fried right. Fries were dark, looked like they had seasoning salt sprinkled on them but were rather bland - the only hiccup of our first meal. We've been back quite a few times and the last few times the fries were much better. Coleslaw could have come from any southern coastal kitchen - sweetened mayonnaise dressing, not a sharp vinegar. Fried. Green. Tomatoes. YES! Not a big fan of the special crawfish bowl. There is blond roux all the way to a deep coffee colored roux, but it's very easy to try to make dark roux too fast and burn it: My bowl had burnt roux. Oh, well, sometimes that happens. I will try it again, since, well, crawdaddies. I need my mudbug fix occaasionally. Service is still a little rough around the edges, but family-feeling, friendly, and earnest. It can be a bit slow, but it's a small, homey place which can't afford a flotilla of wait staff on the floor per shift. Oh, and if the piped in music occasionally gets too loud, just ask them to turn it down and they will. Sometimes it might be that the cooks just like to jam and are paying more attention to the food than the limitations of the basic hole-in-the-wall standard audio system. (A wee bit of a rant here, but starting to think that some particular WA patrons could spend some time frequenting 3 to 5 star Yelps in the deep south for service. Y'all don't know how good you have it if this place gets dinged for "lousy" service. Slow, at times, yes. Bad? Gimme a break, or let me take you on a tour of restaurants not in the NW. I've frequented aggregate 4 star Yelp reviewed places in the deep south where I've gotten up, walked across the restaurant in full view of the staff, then, after asking for a refill and being ignored or rebuffed, nudged gossiping staff aside to pour my own tea re-fill.) (Sorry, other Yelpers, but, when I give a bad review for service, the service is actually really, really bad, and I haven't yet had that level of poor service, ever, here, although I have acknowledged such in other reviews. Yes, it can be slow, but, it's not Canlis and doesn't even try to pretend to be.) For a Cajun place in NOLA where everyone from the chef to the janitor grew up eating cajun/creole food? Middling fair to good. For a Cajun place in Everett, WA? Right good food.

We returned a few times after my initial 5 star review and I have to say that the service left us feeling differently.... On our last visit we were ignored for the first 30 minutes and just as we were getting ready to leave, a young man walked by and I got his attention. We finally ordered and spent another 45 minutes waiting for it... It may have been our last visit... Unfortunate because we had such high hopes for this place!!

Over priced! The food doesnt taste bad (but not great either) but boy are they trying to capitalize on folks that frequent downtown Everett. ha! I went to pay for my food which I only had a lunch size bowl of gumbo and some tea and was charged $18! But originally she gave me someone else's check that was $32 and when I questioned her about it she said that's right, then I made her look again and she said "oh I thought you wanted to pay for this order instead"!? I came in alone why the hell would I eat $32 worth of lunch food - I'm less than 135lbs. Silly waitress/cook/owner idk. Hey if you like paying ridiculous prices for food that is NOT FRESH and NOT MADE THAT DAY then be my guest! I doubt any of that seafood is remotely fresh.

My girlfriend and i stopped by for some pre hockey game dinner. along with on other couple we were the only other people in this small restaurant. just like every review the owners were nice and slow. but going in to restaurant giving myself some extra time and knowing it would take a bit definitely improved my experience. (if i didn't know how slow i would have been agitated very quickly) THE FOOD WAS SO GOOD!!! i had the catfish po/boy with hush puppies. i got a huge portion and everything was cooked perfect my girlfriend had the Philly. they must marinate there meat first it was the most flavorful Philly she i has had. Wecant wait to go back, i want to try everything on the menu.

Waited over 1 hour for shrimp & grits! Service was so slow! I think they had to go catch the shrimp. But the food was good not worth the wait though! I try to support but dang some make it so hard.

Wow!!! Best gumbo ever! Loved the red beans and rice too! Hubby had the jumbalaya and said it was delicious. Hushpuppies were fresh and crispy. Darion was our server, extremely prompt and polite! Cannot wait to come back

Had late lunch on a Sunday here. It was not cold in the room. The service was immediate and very friendly without being goopy. The restaurant looks lovely, with colorful linens and the music was just right. No dental office music here. Our meals arrived in about ten minutes. His was a gumbo, mine was shrimps and grits. Wow. Just really good. Spicy, but not too hot. I like heat, just not too much. I can't wait to come back and try some more of their menu. These people deserve to succeed. They do a good thing.

Food was ok. I had the fried catfish and my gf had a blackend chicken stirfry. For what it was it was a bit pricey,But was pretty good. The service was nice our server was friendly and kbew the menu. Its pretty laid back and a chill little diner. The fish was to my taste overseasoned, but it was my first time earing cajun food. Her stirfry was amazing. The chicken was a tad overcooked and dry but that's knitpicking. If it was 10 $ a person instead of 15-20 $ I'd say its great. I need to try the gumbo though before I say anything bad.

The food is pretty damn good, but the service is really slow. Be prepared. We were walk ins and there was a wait- we got seated about 20 minutes after getting there. No prob. About 10 minutes after getting seated, we got menus and we ordered drinks. 10 minutes later, the drinks arrived. The food took a while, but honestly it is SOO good. I think if I were on a time constraint, I'd be really grumpy about this, but I think at least last night it was worth the wait. The staff is really nice, just really slow. The server apologized about it, saying it was busy, and I don't know maybe it was for them. But there are only 10 tables there (including ours), and 3 of them were empty. Is 7 tables busy? I don't really know. I'll go there again, because their food is awesome and I miss Cajun food. If you go, just be prepared to take your time!

Came in here last night before a magic shoe at the Everett historical theatre. We started with the frog legs, which were absolutely amazing! Whatever they put in their breading, it just works! I had the crab and shrimp gumbo for my entree and it was fantastic! We will definitely be back. There is no other place around with Cajun food at this quality! Simply amazing!!!! The service was also quick and personable. This experience ended up being better than the magic show, my entire party couldn't stop talking about the food here. If you're in the area, I urge you to check this place out!!

The food was great! I LOVE cajun food, but I can't take much spice, so their no-spice was actually hot enough for me (as recommended). I am hoping they can expand their menu a bit, but until then, I'll enjoy what's offered. Me and my husband used to go to Alligator Soul for our cajun fix (at least) on every anniversary and birthday. Very happy we have a local option again.
