Decent service and a good home-town atmosphere. My favorite Mexican restaurant in Enumclaw.

I hate to give place bad ratings cuz it's not easy to run a restaurant. Not gonna lie tho, this place probably topped my chart in worst Mexican food I've ever had. I showed up for lunch and this place was pretty much empty. I should've been suspicious immediately, but I let my guard down :( I ordered three tacos of different variety. The chicken taco was literally chicken breast boiled in water. They were also wrapped in hard shell taco like that of taco bell. Maybe I'm being snobbish, but it really was not a good experience at all. Not to mentioned that the lunch was overpriced for Mexican food and way overpriced for crappy Mexican food. Now, you've been warned. Don't go here just because you are hungry coming back from a pleasant ski trip to Crystal and mysteriously craving good Mexican food like I was. You'll be disappointed. P.S. I just read the other reviews after posting this. Should've done that before I stepped into this restaurant. arrgggg..

Wow, I can't believe we even went to the same restaurant as everyone else reviewing here. We were there on Saturday mid-afternoon. After we sat down, it took a little while for someone to come by (thus only 4 stars), but once they did the service was good. The food was excellent and we'll definitely go back. We were very happy with this place! :-)

This was the second time that I have eaten at this location and I probably won't be coming back. Although the portion size was adequate, I guess one has to wonder why I was the only one in the place at 12:30. Given that it was raining and blustery outside, I hardly think that was the problem. But the food this time left me with an upset stomach that resulted in me canceling my plans for the rest of the day. Maybe someone else will have a better experience than I did.

Things have not changed at all. Now they have a lunch buffet, and I can't help but say this place and the employees should be sent packing out of town. Disgusting cold food. They do not read the reviews, and it's apparent.

BUGS IN MY FOOD AND ALL OVER THE TABLE! Really? There are half a dozen Mexican restaurants in this town, and your claim to fame is going to have dead insects in my food? Don't even bother looking at this place when you drive by coming down from Crystal Mountain, unless you want to spend your night curled up on your bathroom floor praying that you can stop puking your guts out!!

I've lived in Enumclaw for 20 years, and when I was a kid this was the best Mexican place in town, weekends and evenings the restaurant would be packed, now driving by it on 410 I barely see more than 3 cars there at a given time. So I thought what's up with that? So my mom and I went there for lunch; for starters it took us 10 mins to get our cokes and we were one of two tables of customers, food came out fast but wrong when chicken fajitas was confused with chicken taquitos, and then probably was checked on once throughout our 40 minute meal. Overall the service quality has significantly declined from what I remember 5-10 years ago, the one thing I don't understand is when you order a to-go meal they don't give you chips and salsa with it like Ranchito will. The one thing that has saved me from giving it a 1 star is the food still tastes the same so there's some nostalgia there. Still, Mazatlan of Enumclaw needs to step up the service or I'm going to keep ordering from Ranchito.

Mazaltan isn't awful, but it certainly isn't great. It has its good moments and its bad, but honestly I think the restaurant suffered the most because of its mediocrity. It was a strange place to get into, for starters. The entrance was odd. Obviously this isn't a huge deal and honestly doesn't matter that much, but it was strange to see normal white house doors as the entrance to a restaurant and it made one feel uncertain that they were going into the right door. There were a few noticeably good things about the restaurant. It was clearly clean and had a bright interior that made one think of a mexican restaurant without being cheezy. The restrooms were clean, although more than a bit chilly. We were brought chips, which were room temperature and fairly nondescript, and salsa. We were given two different salsa options, which was nice. The normal tomato salsa was mediocre, but there was also a tomatillo sauce that came alongside the normal salsa. The tomatillo sauce was fantastic and had some great cilantro tones, though it was quite a bit too spicy for my tastes. Our server was very friendly, and when my mother and I both ordered our meals with vegetarian beans he asked if the rest of my family would need their meals to be vegetarian too, which was nice. I ordered the bean burrito with guacamole. The bean burrito was a little salty, and there was little to no cheese mixed inside the burrito with the beans as it said there would be, though there was some on the top. The guacamole was incredibly bland, though it was refreshing when paired with my burrito. The ranchero sauce of my burrito was very salty, and the actual beans inside my burrito were very bland. The rest of my family also found their meals to be salty. They all ordered the cheese enchiladas. We ordered three different desserts: the sopapillas, the flan, and the churros. The sopapillas, which we were explicitly told would be drizzled with honey, were drizzled with a cheap syrup -my mind wanders to Aunt Jemima's pancake syrup- as were the churros. The flan was good, though felt heavier than better flans I've had. The churros were over cooked and not soft enough. The sopapillas were fairly decent, even with the aforementioned honey-syrup mix up. All in all, I wouldn't try to go there, but if I was brought there I wouldn't complain too much.

i am an ex worker got fired because i told the boss what was wrong with his restaurant and because i asked the boss who is a waiter to pay me better tips. in case you were wondering the BOSS andy paid me 6 dollars on a good day other waiters over 10 on a bad day. food is really tasty depending on who makes it, there is three different cooks. the restaurant is very old and needs to be updated. dont recommend that u take your girl there on a date, it will be your last time with her. servers are well trained, but they all hate to work their given the fact that they have all been there for over 10 years so it depends upon days. the restaurant is broomed every day but sometimes it looks like its a little dirty. most of the time we they have the ingredients to make the food but about 30% of the time we had to tell people that we were out of something. prices are reasonable for the amount of food that you get. i never liked the fact that servers put their fingers on the food to to take out something if the cooks messed up. (doesnt happen all the time, but it happens and its gross) every thing i said is true to the best of my knowledge i dont hate the restaurant for firing me i thank them for it!! i didnt want to be on the newspaper when it shut down for unsanitary problems.

This place needs a remodel and cleaning. Food varies. Sometimes its good and other times it gross. The service is by far the WORST! Waited for 15 to just get menus after we were seated. You have to hunt your server down just to get your bill. No longer come here. Don't recommend. The one in Bonney Lake is by far much better.

Awesome Food, Fast Service, Authentic Atmosphere and Good Portions. I have been dining at Mazatlan for the past 25 years and I have never had a bad experience. The staff is quick and they offer some of the best Mexican dishes around.

two stars only because the chips and salsa were good. the waitress was rude and off putting and the food was disgusting. my boyfriend ordered the fajitas and he barely got any meat. I order the tostada salad and it was ok at best. no wow factor no nothing. was definitely not impressed at all with this place and will never come back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
