I haven't found a place that serves up popcorn chicken like Tapioca Express does. The popcorn chicken is perfectly crispy with a nice sprinkle of chili powder and basil leaves. I'm not normally a huge fan of basil but it's not the same without the fried basil leaves! The spice level is inconsistent though. I always order 5 stars but it's never spicy enough. The bubble tea can be inconsistent, depends on how busy they are. I don't recommend coming in late Friday and Saturday-- there are always a HUGE group of Asians. (I'm Asian too) Also the staff doesn't have the best customer service, there are a handful of full time employees that I like. My favorite drink is the strawberry yogurt with big boba. Tastes somewhat like a parfait with boba. These guys do know how to make boba though. I've rarely ever gotten a drink with super chewy or hard boba. They flavor their boba with honey which I love. I haven't tried any of their dishes mainly because I'm obsessed with their popcorn chicken but they seem very popular. Definitely one of the best bubble tea shops north of Seattle though, check it out.

Parking was pretty miserable, seating was awkward, bathroom not the cleanest (a large group just left), tables were messy, service was decent, our drinks were great! Decently priced and tastes good.

Normally me and my friends love this place. But today I tasted the worst drinks I had in years, way too much flavor and tea. Basically every time I get a bubble tea from here a large one wouldn't even be enough, but this time I couldn't even go half way through.

Stopped by to check out what they had ,a month ago, and was pleasantly surprise with the wide selection of drinks they had there. I had to bring my daughter back and she too liked it. Though the place doesn't look super clean or trendy but the fast service and the blended Thai ice tea with tapioca makes everything better . ;)

I love this place! Its a great place to hang out with friends.. Their foods are also so good! My fave is that chicken katsu & curry! Their popcorn chicken isnt bad either.. They should improve their customer service tho.. Cause one time i was waiting in there for so long to get my passion tea soda.. And when i asked them, they said they forgot! But it was understandable, cause there were so many customers and me and my sis kinda ordered a lot so... XD

This place is a gem! Inexpensive good food with an array of teas to choose from. Chicken cutlet at $7.99 to pork rice bowl at $4.50. You can't really beat that! It is also one of the few places in the area that's open after 9 pm.

It seems like there's always a group of 10+ Asian kids playing Jenga in this place. Kinda weird, but I guess that's what kids do in Asian cafes? The milk tea here has a really unique taste. I don't know how to describe it other than "chocolaty." I've had my share of milk tea over the years and I've never tasted one quite like those served at Tapioca Express. This is a franchise, so I'm sure there are other locations to get the "chocolaty" milk tea...I just haven't bothered to look for them yet. My wife really likes the flavored teas, and usually cycles through lychee, peach, and kiwi, with grass jelly or tapioca. Milk teas just aren't her cup of tea (ha)! The popcorn chicken here is delicious, as well. Perhaps not as unique as the milk tea, but my wife says it's pretty similar to the ones sold from carts on the roads of Taiwan. Pretty cool, and very tasty.

A great selection of drinks. I ordered Lavender Snow Bubble. Icy with perfect lavender flavor. Like I made it myself with lavender buds or something. My daughter had Peach Milk Tea. Had tea in it and it was delicious! No tapioca for her. A couple of doors down from Wonton Noodle House. Which is scrumptious.

The customer service is very bad. I'm a regular customer here and I always get matcha red bean frosti milk. I'm not sure if they are busy or training new workers. The drink was tasteless so I politely requested if they could make a change. But their attitude was totally bad and they declined to replace it. I have to repeatedly explain it and they very unwillingly replaced it in the end but the taste still wasn't consistent. my complain is not so much about the taste but their attitude and bad customer service!

I've had two different drinks from here so far and both were amazing! My husband gets the fruity blended stuff and I almost never like his, but I loved both of the ones he got here! We will definitely be back as often as possible! I just wish we had one closer to Bothell:(

The gals who work here have MUCH better customer service than the boys! The advertised fresh fruit used for some (not all) of the smoothies are ALWAYS OUT! Then you pick your second choice and they are also out of that. Then when you finally decide on a flavor that they do have in stock, the additional topping (tapioca, pudding, jelly) are also out! People, please replenish your dang stock. You are next to a giant asian grocery chain. It's not that hard, Grrrrrrrrr!

  • R K.

They have variety of bubble teas or "snow bubbles" and most of them I tried were pretty good! The drinks weren't too sweet so that's good for me. They make it very quick even if there's a long line! I think the customer service could be better but overall I think it's great!

This is a good location. Their bubble tea is great. The workers gave a little attitude but the food/drinks are good :D I love their Jasmine Milk Tea!

I'm not really one to go out of my way for some boba, but it's been a while and my thirst for it was too strong. For whatever reason, Tapioca Express was ringing through my mind so I thought I'd head down to Edmonds to get my fix there. It's just your ordinary, run-of-the-mill boba spot. Kinda small, had two bookshelves full of manga, and just a place to hang out. I didn't stick around too long though, so that stuff is kind of irrelevant. I ordered the Thai tea boba with lychee jelly and their popcorn chicken meal. I was surprised by how quick the order was. I felt like an idiot double checking to see if it was my order. Anyway, the Thai tea boba was alright. It was pretty light on the taste, and it got pretty weak over time, but at least the boba and jelly wasn't frozen. The popcorn chicken tasted pretty good though, although I thought the portions were sparse. I got the four star and it was tangy with a slight kick, but nothing that made me scream for a glass of water. The rice was okay, but the salad was absolutely horrible. It was incredibly soggy and tasted weird. I think I would have gotten a better deal if I just got two of the popcorn chicken bags, but I'm not gonna whine about it now. Overall, it was okay. Chicken was good, sides were not. Boba and jelly tasted great, but the Thai tea was average and the service was quick but lacked personality. I'll go here if I need a fix for boba, but I wouldn't drive 30 minutes for it.

Great flavor in their milk tea! Standard milk tea, snow bubble(blended ice) milk tea, and yogurt/milk tea with 15 flavors per style of milk tea is offered. They also offer various food items such as katsu, beef bowls, and fried(chicken, and other fingerfood) items. Prices are very reasonable($8 for a full plate of katsu and side dishes), and the location is very clean and tidy! Only wish they would be more friendly when taking the order, as it would make a world of difference!

I moved away, but Tapioca Express is one of the main things I miss about Seattle. Their snow bubbles are always incredibly delicious and so is the honey green tea. I loved these so much that I would order extra drinks just to keep in the fridge for the next day. Some of my favorite snow bubble flavors are watermelon, honeydew, passion fruit, and Thai tea. Also, their popcorn chicken is delicious! They have a little sitting area and some magazines and games you can play like Jenga. I never went here for the customer service, but the snacks & bubble tea were always the best. Highly recommended.

Favorite Tapioca Express! I'm from California but because they have so many boba places here, alot of them usually suck. I come to Washington every year and this was the closest place. It's my favorite, the drinks and food are good. I'm very content with it

Comparing this location to the many Tapioca Express in CA this place is subpar. We ordered two drinks, one with boba and the other with lychee. The boba was disgusting, no flavor. The lychee, however, was good. As for the employees, not the friendliest bunch of people. And it was freezing in there, I can only assume their heater was broken. Overall, would I recommend this place to anyone, nope! Will I return? Definitely not.

Their bubble tea was super watered down. Not impressed at all! We ordered 2 BBT but the second one took FOREVER. When we went to the counter to ask where our other drink was the first thing they asked us was where our receipt was then the guy behind the counter pointed at me & said that we already got our drink. Um, NO. We ordered 2 drinks & got one. They treated us like we were trying to run a BBT scam or something. Times are hard but not that hard. Geez. To add to that their menu was sooo confusing!

pirate ninja loves this place, reminds me of homeee, deep in the humid where one sweats. pirate ninja never used to crave for bubble tea...that is until pirate ninja lived in a forest. otherwise, pirate ninja occ longs to see ..other possible ninjas in their native...environment. pirate ninja also when hungry and jumping over roofs, their speed is comparable pirate ninja recommends this place. 4 ninja stars out of 5

I've been coming here quite a bit recently because it's near my house in Shoreline and their popcorn chicken and coconut snow bubble tea is pretty good. However the last 4 times I've asked for the popcorn chicken and they've said that they don't have it :( And they don't always get my order right because not all of their employees speak english well. Guy customer service is lacking as another reviewer has mentioned.

My coworkers and I used to hang out there after work a couple years ago, though this is a place most Asian International students hang out. I think they recently remodeled their interior. It's actually quite nice and bright. I like it! I wouldn't recommend ordering bubble tea. They have really few selections. Since they have PRE-MADE their bubble, if you want to customize yours, they charge you extra. "DISLIKE BUBBLE TEA" For example, if you don't want sugar in your bubble tea, they can not use the pre-made bubble. And, they charge you extra. 5 STARS for POPCORN CHICKEN and FRIED CHICKEN STEAK. They have really good popcorn chicken. I really like it! Fried chicken steak rice combo is another one of my favorite.

We ordered only the drinks. Icy Taro with coconut jelly, Snow Mango with tiny bobos, and Icy Grape with Pinapple jelly. They all tasted good. Large sizes for all three costing around $16 This place has been here for quite sometime. I dont come too often since I know it is very unhealthy. They have food snacks for the past few years, but I have never had the inclination to even try them, mainly since I am unfamiliar with most of the menu items and didnt want to experiment.

I have a love hate relationship with this place. Sometimes I love it, other times I hate it. I used to come here frequently for the popcorn chicken but lately it seems that they've been under seasoning it. I always order five stars but what used to set fire to my mouth in the most satisfying way now hardly leaves me with even a spark of flavor. It seems the drinks have gone down in quality too. I once ordered taro milk tea, and it really just tasted like sweetened milk. Since then I haven't been in the mood for bubble tea. Boo. But I keep coming back anyway because if I'm lucky, the popcorn chicken tastes how it's supposed to. But that's rarely ever.

Another solid bubble tea spot! Their snow bubble is awesome! Lots of good food too. Their popcorn chicken is my go too! For lunch their chicken Katsu curry is delicious also! Friendly staff and clean environment. Pretty relaxed place to hangout and enjoy some bubble tea. Not very big seating area, and few tables outside.

TapEx exists in/around SF, but I had never visited one until I moved to Seattle. The main reason I prefer TapEx over the other boba joints in Seattle is that TapEx has earl grey milk tea on their menu. Also, the calamari here is delicious. I tried the sticky rice here once, and it was a complete rip off. They have games and manga for those who are interested. Like every other boba joint in Seattle, TapEx has hella Asians killing time here. It's right by Ranch 99, so it's a great place to stop by after grocery shopping.

Only rating for the bubble tea. Outstanding choices and amazing flavor! The choices for bubble tea in the midwest are few and far between so I imagine my enthusiasm over this place is a bit inappropriate but I loved my drink. Multiple choices of jellies and boba and quick service. The parking lot is small and you have to do a dance to get in since is almost on a corner off of hwy 99. When I told my daughter about it she said she had been there years before with her bestie when visiting the NW and LOVED their food and the bubble tea!

I came here (Yelp reviews and the restaurant) by following Rudi's review. I did not know they served food. I always wondered why the traffic was so busy at a bubble tea joint when I would go to the Wonton Noodle House. The restaurant was quite busy at 1pm., both dine-in as well as "to-go". Friendly staff, though I suspect there may be a language barrier if I needed to communicate beyond placing an order. Ambiance is, well, maybe I could set up a small restaurant in my garage? 7 or 8 tables with a small counter with condiments. Take your plates to the counter when you are finished with your meal. I ordered the Popcorn Chicken based on the recommendations on Yelp. I also ordered the Chicken with Noodle. The chicken was katsu style. The noodles were a thin white noodle in a non-descriptive broth. But! the Popcorn Chicken was incredible!!! Dark chicken meat and fried basil leaves, and some kind of a reddish seasoning sprinkled on the chicken. Served in a paper bag with long bamboo skewers, all the better to stab the piping hot pieces of chicken. When I was asked how spicy, I requested "medium". On my ticket, my "medium" request was indicated with a #2. Turns out a #2 medium equated to a heavy dose of black pepper. Next time I will ask for a #3. I noticed these following items were marked as "sold out" on the giant wall picture menu: Pork belly bowl (of rice, i presume?), dumplings (picture looked like boiled dumplings), and some kind of "pancake" which looked like Chinese onion pancake? So, that means next time, I get there by 11 a.m. and order the good stuff that's sold out by 1 pm. I did not have any bubble tea. Except for the Popcorn Chicken, the prices were not as low as I thought they would be. The average price for entrees were $8. I will definitely stop by for Popcorn Chicken if I am in the neighborhood and need a quick hunger fix. But fair warning: this is not fast food. The Popcorn Chicken is made fresh. Expect to wait at least 10 minutes for the Popcorn Chicken as well as the entrees. My entree was ready before the Popcorn Chicken. Good honest, everday Asian food.

Love this place this my to go place for some fast food, you have got to try their layered yogurt fruit shakes, and can never go wrong with some yummy bubble tea. Service is fast and food is always made fresh why go to mcdonalds when you can have a real meal for the same price. I'd recommend the popcorn chicken and taro fries yummy!

This is probably my second favorite or new favorite bubble tea joint. I love the fact that they serve pretty authentic Taiwanese meals here, and they have a great variety of different teas, slushes, etc. Their passion green tea was so refreshing! I also love that there's parking and they have mini boba now! They are my absolute favorite and it used to be hard to find but yay!

I don't think this place should be named Tapioca Express because both times we went here for bubble tea, it took a very, very long time. There were four employees behind the counter so I don't know what the problem was. Also, half of the tapioca balls in our bubble tea were so hard.

I've been to this place for hundreds of times (ok that's a little exaggerated. Maybe 70-80ish times?) ever since I moved to Seattle in 2006. This is my favorite spot to get some milk-tea and Taiwanese finger food and even meals. Their flavors are very consistent across the years. They have GREAT selections of drinks and snacks. My favorite is their Taro milk tea (without any topping) - it's simply the best compared to other places that sells milk tea drinks. A good meal to have is their pork rice topped with sunny side up egg. If I'm not that hungry, I usually snack on their fish cake finger food. It's usually pretty packed in the evening, mostly occupied by groups of Asians like me and my friends who'll just stay for hours and hours. So it might be better to come in the afternoon if you want a little more space to breathe. Free wifi, a lot of comics (if you read Chinese) and magz. Ask for a deck of cards if you're in the mood to make some noise with your friends. One thing they should improve is cleanliness though. It's not filthy dirty, but it's not sparkling clean either, especially the restrooms. But it won't keep me from giving 5 stars. I love this place.

This place always had me coming back, even if it was a long drive away. It was the first place I enjoyed eating at moving to Washington state. Of course I would prefer to go eat on food street in Canada with more variety, but this will do. (: We usually order the foods we find to be consistently good, drinks vary based on personal preference, food-wise I'd say golden buns, fish cake (personal preference), popcorn chicken, sweet potato fries...etc They also have entertainments on the side while you wait for your food or even when you're eating. Care for some JENGA?? There are many who wrote their phone numbers on the blocks, so if you lose have the lil sucker ring them up!

This was my first time ordering from here, and they have me a pretty good feet impression. I ordered the mocha snow bubble even though I had no idea what this "snow bubble" thing was along with some random boba. The drink itself was very tasty and I liked the slushie-like texture. I wasn't a real big fan of the boba though since it was rectangular and very tiny so it kind of made the texture of the drink a little strange, but I guess that it's kind of my fault for ordering the boba with it in the first place. My friend and I also ordered and shared a spicy popcorn chicken. Very tasty and pretty spicy since we ordered the four-star heat. Overall, pretty good bubble tea and snacks! It's a little far from my house but I'm willing to stop by again in the future.

Not sure what you're going to get here... Parking: strip mall Ambiance: feels like you're in a cafe in Taiwan - loaded with Asians (mostly Cantonese speaking I noticed) with their laptops. Service: ehhh, not much to speak of Food: Been here twice, first time had the iced bubble tea and it was GREAT!!! Thought I hit the jackpot for a go-to bubble tea place near home...but...second time ordered several hot bubble tea drinks - each one tasted the same (we ordered different flavors) but they were all different temperatures - ranging from hot to lukewarm (need to microwave the last when I got home). Epic fail there. That said, I will go back for the popcorn chicken. First time I ordered it 3 stars - I'm not kidding - I could have burned down a building with the fire in my mouth - and I like it spicy! Still tasted pretty good though like what you'd get from a street cart in Taiwan.

I've came here sometimes... Once in a blue moon. Anyways, the last time i came here I wasn't feeling so well so I was bit slow. LOL But the cashier should of been better with customer service in speaking with her customers. So I ordered "Strawberry" bubble tea and she asked "strawberry what?" with an attitude. Okay i pause for a moment and said to myself, okay that was rude. Then I go, just strawberry bubble tea and kept asking "well, strawberry what?" and I didn't know she was asking for what "type" of bubble tea because the cashier didn't even mentioned or asked what type of bubble tea i wanted or even gave me examples! And I asked her, well what kind? And she finally named the types making it sound like i was stupid or something. I just don't think you should talk to your customers that way. Also there bubble tea was terrible since they use powder and it taste so unrealistic. Service sucks and so does their bubble tea, I've tried better. Maybe if their service was better I would of given them a 3-4 stars.

This place is decent. The bubble tea is pretty good and the food is tasty as well. Our table had quite the variety including, pork belly, marinated pork, short ribs, chicken katsu curry, popcorn chicken, calamari and fired green beans. All of us were satisfied with the food and bubble tea. However the reason why I gave 3 stars is because the customer service is terrible. One of us ordered yogurt milk tea with no boba and it ended up with boba. Usually bubble tea places are keen on just getting you the right order without arguing since I would think it would cost the establishment more to argue about it and piss off a paying customer. However the young Ssain guys that were working there had the WORST attitude and insisted that we had ordered it with boba and refused to replace the order. Well, being situated in Northgate, we have two choices, north to Shoreline or south to U-district and from now on the choice is clear.

In my experience, this place can be crowned as one of the worst boba tea shops in Seattle Their strawberry icy is an example .. I know it's called icy but at least blend it well ... the ice inside my cup was so big that I could barely drink it .. I ended up throwing it away .. plus it tasted so bland like water .. Also, I suspected that they didn't even use fresh strawberry for the drink .. the only thing that I could recommend to you is their popcorn chicken ... it tastes very spicy and not too salty .. There is not much to talk about service, you basically bus the table and clean up after yourself.

Finding Bubble tea in the north of Seattle, has been a challenge in the past, I didn't know this place existed, until a buddy of mine asked me to bubble tea. However with the Asian influence up and down Highway 99 in Lynnwood, it was obvious that at some point, a good place will come into play. Tapioca Express fits that requirement quite nicely. Located in a strip mall, just north of 99 Ranch, this place is easy to find, with parking lot. How does the boba stand up to other places? It's good. It's not the sweetest or smoothest, but is cooked nicely, and tastes like it too. It's not overly chewy, and has good flavor on its own. When I get milk tea drinks, I tend to aim for the honey milk tea flavor. Their version is perfectly done right; and doesn't feel heavy with syrup. It actually tasted fresh. Besides their drink menu, they have a few nicely appointed hot food options also. I have yet to taste them, but the other tables there had ordered, and the aroma was definitely mouth watering. Late night food options are hard to come by, but I'm definitely making my way back here, and trying the other drink options at the end of my day. They also have complementary Wi-Fi with purchase of a drink.

Lucky me, there was a Tapioca Express near Everett and right off Hwy 99 in Edmonton. I was craving boba big time and this was it. Back when I lived in CA, I'd avoid this place because of the $hitty service, but I think was pretty glad to have come across this place now that I live in the middle of nowhere. I was ecstatic when I came across a few Asian language homies! Almond milk tea was pretty SWeEeEeEeEeEeEeEeT and the tapioca wasn't as chewy as I thought it would be..BUT its better than nothing!

Great place for a Tapioca drink. I always try a variety of places for the drinks. This chain never let's me down. A must try for everyone who has never tried a Boba or Tapioca drink before. Because this place is often franchised, not all settings will be the same. The food is decent though. Wide variety of drinks to choose from. There's not many boba or tapioca drinks out there that are as good or better, so I have to give this place 5 stars. Until I can find a better Tapioca place to drink and hang out, then I won't give any other place 5 stars.

So many asians hanging around in this place, speaking their own language in every direction, Korean, Taiwanese, Hongkongnese, you say it, they're available. Not saying I'm not one of them, but still, this place is asian-infested (I can say that, because I'm Asian myself, and I got asian pride). It's just because this place is attractive to Asians, anime comic books lined up the cupboards, old boardgames you can play (Jenga, and more). A fun place to keep talking and talking and playing then more playing and reading. Good snacks and bubble tea! My personal choices are popcorn chicken and fishcake. If you're hungry for more, get the pork belly over rice (so sinfully fatty). For drinks, my order is quite long, it sounds like rapping everytime I order it, strawberry banana snow bubble with green apple jelly, yo. I'm more of the slushy snow bubble kind of girl instead of very watered down milk tea. Other alternatives are, if it's in stock: honeydew snow bubble, vanilla cookie (too sweet), or durian snow bubble. Some of you may not understand why we asians/or me enjoy durian, you say it tastes like hell, I disagree an d say it's heaven, it's just something you grow up with, you soon learn to like the custard-like and strong flavor. It's just a matter of personal preference. If you like milk tea, the Jasmine milk tea is calming and quite good and cool.

Bubble tea and more! Tapioca Express offers an extensive bubble tea menu plus "cafe" food. It's also a "cafe" in a Japanese and Asian sense with manga books lining the walls. Tried the grapefruit green tea, which was very refreshing especially with the fresh squeezed grapefruit. Popcorn chicken is a popular dish here. It reminded me a bit of Japanese kara-age, except with a bit of kick and also with the very unique taste of Szechuan peppers. Other dishes were an interesting mix of Taiwanese and Korean cafe classics. Prices are very reasonable, especially on the food (rice, chicken and salad was less than $6). Definitely not a bad place to stop by on this stretch of Aurora!

I normally dislike bubble tea, but this place is so much more than bubble tea. If you come here past 9 PM, this place is filled to the brim at all times with tonnes (more than one) of patrons. The drinks here are really good and the one thing that makes it stand out here is the "Baby Bubble" ... that's right, even smaller sized tapioca bites. The beautiful thing about them is that they still taste the same even a week later. Why a week later? Because I forgot it in the fridge, ok? Their drinks vary from traditional Hong Kong style tea to their nonstop ads for Snow Bubble. Snow Bubble is apparently a milk shake type drink with a less angry name. My drink of choice is the Thai Iced Tea with the baby bubble and lychee jelly. A good mixture of chewy and jell-o texture when you combine them. What's really to love here though... is the food! Can you believe that? This small business has a kitchen back there! Everyone is right when they say their popcorn chicken is the best. When they ask you how spicy, you tell them "ALL... THE... SPICY." and look them dead in the eye. They'll just nod approvingly and preempt you with the keys to the bathroom because they know you'll be doing something very violent in the handicapped stall. Just kidding, they don't have a key to the bathroom. I try to give five stars to the best genre of restaurants out there, and this easily is the best place for any variation of the bubble tea!

Youngest is on a bubble tea kick with all the hot weather we've been having I've joined her in her quest to find good bubble tea around our area. This is the second place we've tried that also offers small plates of this and that to round out their menu. While we only opted for bubble tea this time around, the food menu sounded good. Bubble tea wise the flavors were plentiful, I like a place that offers a "fresh" menu and one that defines what they interpret as bubble tea, i.e. "snow bubble" "ice bubble" "milk tea" etc.... This trip we opted for a vanilla cookie snow bubble with coconut jelly and a mocha snow bubble with coffee jelly. They offer 2 sizes, I've totally forgotten the price levels, but IF memory serves it was one of the better priced places we've been to, recently. Their "snow bubble" was listed as ice, milk, and flavoring blended up. In essence it was a very smooth milkshake, with jelly worms on the bottom, comparing it to other places we have been to, priced the best, but the blend was almost too fine, the iced mixture was basically gone by the time we got home, granted in general the bubble tea was gone as well. My vanilla cookie was tasty, the youngest's mocha had a powered coffee flavor to it, and was a bit grainy in texture. Overall we'll be back, to try a few other options, and maybe try out the food next time. This place is a gold mine by the way, we timed it just right and only had 2 people in front of us, by the time we had ordered the line was out the door. I was impressed by the staff, they handled the rush very well, granted there wasn't much effort to converse with the customers, but hey, they were FAST!!

This place is infested with teeny boopers who are extremely loud and have no sense of an inside voice. Unlike Pochi, TapEx's music is pretty quiet (I think they play music at least??) but really, there is no reason for anyone but the employees to yell. The bubble tea itself is decent, I only really come here because my friends prefer it over Pochi. I just really love the fact that they have baby boba and their popcorn chicken is delicious. Parking is a pain in the butt since the spaces are kinda compact. I mean, I guess TapEx is aight. Also, I feel like they need to put a "NO SMOKING" sign like, right by their door! I hate trying to pass through a group of people just nonchalantly smoking in front of the entrance. It's just rude and smelly!!

  • Rosette T.

There bubble tea here is ok. Kinda on the icy and sweet side but convenient when I'm in the area. The big and baby boba here is too mushy and clumpy and so when you're drinking your boba all you get is boba in one sip. The staff here are rude and their English is very poor. They neither speak English nor are able to fully understand what you're asking. Before you pay make sure you're order is right. I've had many MANY incidents where they get my order and toppings wrong and when asked to fix it they won't refund you your proper drink and you get stuck with something you didn't order.

While shopping up north near Alderwood, my boyfriend and I were craving some bubble tea. We've had good experiences with Tapioca Express in Renton, so we decided to go here. This location is much bigger and has more food options. We ordered the avocado and almond snow bubbles with mini boba. We also got an order of popcorn chicken with 3 stars - this is the first bubble tea place that I've tried gives you an option to customize spiciness levels. Popcorn chicken: 4/5 stars. The batter was very crispy and light. It could have used a little more salt as the spiciness was more peppery than actually spicy. Avocado snow bubble: 3/5 stars. Not too thick like most other avocado smoothies. However, I don't think there was much avocado - the color of the drink was more yellow than green. Almond snow bubble: 2/5 stars. This might have been due to the employee, but it was very watery. Because of that, the almond flavor wasn't very strong and it just tasted like milk.

  • Azis V.

Wouldnt recommend any ice blended drink here, too icy and you'd barely taste the flavor. I'd stick with my safe regular milk tea with pearl drink. My friend said the avocado was pretty good. Not sure if they're using real fruit or powder, but still did it job and got the avocado taste in it.

This Bubble tea location is a great place to stop by for a bubble tea/ snack/ lunch food. I like their bubble tea so much! And my favorite snack to get here is pop corn chicken. So flavorful!!!!! They have a great selection of food menu. And different types of drinks like tea, milk tea, snow-bubble, etc.

It's okay. It's convenient that it is open late. Service is meh. What irked me the most was when I asked the cashier if they used real honey for their drinks (I know some places use artificial honey syrup) he just had no idea... If you're making drinks, you should know what you are putting into what you make or at least have some knowledge about it when customers ask you a question. They seem to like to go on their phones a lot right in front of the customer. Other than that, I suggest the popcorn chicken! Whenever I'm with someone, they usually gets kiwi snow bubble, which is a must try! My sister has been getting it for at least three years now whenever she comes by ever since I introduced her to it.

Their boba is subpar and their popcorn chicken is a snoozer. I wish they had condiments for their chicken and their boba was more smooth.

This place has great food! But it stops there! what's up with the customer service of some places these days, it's like nobody cares! I came in today for a simple order and it literally took 25 minutes to receive my food when it NEVER took that long every other time I've been here. I asked for my money back since everyone in the back was standing around goofing off and being chatty Cathys. Upon my request, the cashier (with a nasty attitude) says she won't give me my money back because my food was done yet I had NO food in my presence. Do better!

It's difficult finding a great bubble tea place outside of the downtown Seattle area (or U District), so my little sister and I were both very pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon Tapioca Express. This place has a wide variety of teas and tapioca flavors, including milk teas, green teas, and black teas. I ordered a Jasmine Milk tea (hot) -- and it was delicious! My sister ordered a Jasmine Green tea and also loved it. The second time we went, she ordered a Mango Green tea, and said it tasted too sweet. Not only does Tapioca Express serve Bubble Tea, but they also serve Asian style food. I tried the fried potstickers -- they were incredibly delicious, but the sauce was served cold (I wish the sauce was warmer). I also tried to fried popcorn chicken -- it was delicious. Pros: - Very quick service - Delicious Bubble Tea - Food/snacks are available - very CHEAP Cons: - It is in an odd location, a bit difficult to get to driving Southbound on 99 - They serve cold sauces with their hot dishes, instead of heating them up

Green tea smoothie w/ boba or mango smoothie w/ rainbow jelly are my top faves. Pop corn chicken is good too. I used to eat it all the time when I wasn't vegetarian

The go to place for boba tea in the edmonds/lynnwood area. If it's your first time, definitely try their popcorn chicken and taro fries! Portions are small so they make a great snack. They also serve up rice plates as well if you're feening for a real meal. It's a great place to hang out with friends and they open late till midnight. Parking kinda sucks but it iz what it izzz.

This is a little hole in the wall place near my boyfriend's sister house and I love stopping by here. It is by no means gourmet food. It's cheap and yummy eats + yummy drinks. I love their matcha snow milk, spicy popcorn chicken, and their chicken katsu plate. Don't go here expecting fine dining. It's just yummy cheap fast food. I love going here and filling my belly here hehehe. I'll be a loyal fan.

Usually I would give Tap Ex 3 or 4 stars because the bubble teas that they serve are one of the better ones around here. However this time, they seemed to be out of everything! First I asked for a Cantaloupe Snow Bubble, which they said they were out of so I had to pick again. Then they said they didn't have big boba so I said I wanted little boba. The cashier said okay, swiped my card and gave me the receipt to sign. As I was signing she informed me they were also out of little boba. I'm kind of confused on how they don't have both kinds of boba at a bubble tea place. Is this Tapioca Express or just Express?

  • Mary K.

Their base sweetness is enough to jumpstart me into diabetes. Brought my lil nieces as a after dinner dessert and I was alarmed by how much they've sweetened everything by tenfolds. Even my avocado with a swirl of chocolate, which is only supposed to have a touch of sweetness from the chocolate, was drowning in blended liquid sugar. Everyone's consensus was that this location makes their bubble tea, (milk or snow bubble) was much sweeter than elsewhere.

So many different varieties of bubble tea! One of the best places I've found for sure. I've never had an issue with their service. One of my favorites is the hazelnut with coffee jelly.

Ugh. This place kinda sucks. Unfortunately, its the only bubble tea place in the area and my sister really likes her milk tea. A few days ago, we dropped by to get a few drinks to-go. We ordered three hot drinks, which came out at three different temperatures. How does that happen?! Almond milk tea, hot, with boba: it was lukewarm, overly sweet, no tea flavor. It was like the sweet milk for children at bedtime. Gross. Jasmine milk tea: it was warmer than the almond milk tea but by no means hot. It was okay, although overly sweet. It actually had jasmine flavor in it. Regular milk tea: this drink was actually hot and tasted okay. My dad swore it tasted like lipton tea.

I love this place the popcorn chicken is super flavorful! And their strawberry yogurt is bomb. I just wished the employees put effort in the conversation when ordering. I understand it's busy but at least a smile would be appreciated. It seems like they wanted you to leave, always such a bitter face.

This place is located in a strip mall one block north of ranch 99 on highway 99. Even since Pochi closed/relocated from Ranch 99 I have been desperately looking for a good replacement to fulfill my bubble tea cravings when I am in this area. The bubble tea from here is on par with all other Bubble Tea places I have frequented in International District in terms of pricing and quality of taste. The Honeydew and Avocado snow bubble bubble tea here is DELICIOUS and would recommend these to any bubble tea fan. They offer a variety of food in here as well ranging from katsu to sweet potato fries. I recently tried their sweet potato fries and gyoza and both were very satisfying.

Parking was a pain. Being from the SF Bay Area, I have many options to choose for bubble tea and Tapioca Express was usually a last resort. When I found this was the only option nearby - I was ready to be disappointed, but NOPE! The milk tea wasn't watered down - the boba wasn't hard. Way better than most tapioca express' in SF/bay area.

I was looking for a place that was open late night and I found this place. It's open until midnight and in addition, there's a huge selection of bubble tea. I heard rave reviews about the popcorn chicken so I had to taste them myself. You can get them mild to spicy. There's a 5-star spiciness scale. I chose 3. The chicken was tasty. It's not the best I have tasted, but it was cooked to order. You can taste the dark meat so if you're looking for chicken breast, I would ask to see if that's an option. There is a huge selection of milk teas, snow bubble, juices, etc. There's even a menu of snacks. I ordered a peppermint milk tea with boba. I'm never disappointed with bubble tea. They all taste the same to me.

One word. Forgettable. So forgettable that I can't remember enough about how bad it was to give this place just one star but forgettable enough that it doesn't warrant anything above 2 stars. Boo, guess I still have to go all the way to U-District or the ID for boba tea.

It is good store. However, sometime the serving is not good because they get mad on customers.

  • Lee A.

Go for the drinks not the chicken. I read all these reviews about how good the popcorn chicken is so I got two orders. It was terrible. I stopped at two pieces but my husband ate almost all of both orders. A few hours later he wasn't feeling well and woke up the next morning feeling even worse. It's so greasy and fatty. The drinks are very sweet so keep that in mind when ordering. I give it three stars mainly because of the drink selection. A small drink comes to about $5.

I come here for bubble tea and snacks when I'm in Edmonds area for a quick bbt fix. But like I said in the earlier review it would be nice if staffs could show some respect to customers. C'mon, I'm buying food from you. Can't you stop being on your phone and actually look up to take the orders???

Unfriendliest group of workers I've encountered in a long time. No greeting, no smile, no interest in answering questions...We ordered the Earl Grey Milk Tea and the Honey Milk Tea, both with tapioca. The Earl Grey wasn't sweet at all, despite the girl telling us it would be when we specifically asked. The honey tea was better, which is the only reason I'm giving them a second star. They don't give you near as many bubbles as just about any other bubble tea place, so the last part of your tea, you're completely out of them. My last gripe is that there were 10+ Asian kids just hanging out and smoking on the sidewalk in front of the door. We had to ask them to move so we could even get to the door. Will not return.

I'm a huge fan of this place in San Diego and I was really excited to find that there was a tapioca express near Seattle. I was happy to find that there popcorn crispy chicken was pretty much the same aside from the meal being served on an actual plate! The serving size wasn't what I was used to, but it was still a healthy portion. Despite the menu board looking a little drab, the drinks were great! The Thai tea and taro milk tea were delicious and I would definitely get them again! Overall, it's not like many other tapioca express locations I've seen, but I'm likely to come in again to get my crispy chicken fix!

My fiance and I recently moved here from California and Tapioca Express has always been one of our favorites because of the excellent customer service and specifically this drink I got every single day in california called "grapefruit peach green tea". When we got to this location I noticed my drink wasn't on the menu. When I asked them to make it for me the entire staff was extremely rude and acted like it was a HUGE inconvience and i was even told it probably wouldn't even taste good. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!! I literally got this drink every single day in California. Since then both me and my fiance have returned frequently and each time we get the rudest service and have to go through like 4 ppl to ever make my drink right. Since this place was so special to us in Cali my fiancé even proposed to me inside this place with my drink!!!!! You would think by now they'd at least smile and attempt to make my drink right since I'm clearly a regular...but nope!!!! Every time we go in itsike gheyve never seen me or my drink order before... Tonight was what confirmed that I'll NEVER go back ever again tho. Started the same with the rude ppl but this time when I asked for my drink I was told " we've never made that before so its not gonna taste good" I replied with "I get this drink every day...just add peach to the tea" the girl goes "no you don't I work here every day". Bottom line. WORST STAFF IVE EVER DEALT EITH IN MY LIFE! they should all be fired.. I like ed this place once but I won't be treated like dirt when all I want is some tea....don't waste your time!!!!!!

Popcorn Chicken! DO IT! Its seasoned to perfection and you can chose what number "stars" you want them to be (how spicy). Tried other bubble tea joint's popcorn chicken and still have yet to beat this place. They also have Cantaloupe Bubble Tea, which is hard to find. It really is good. If you're a fan of Honey Dew like I am, you would LOVE this.

I went here to get some bubble tea and was not disappointed. I ordered the coconut snow bubble with large boba and it was good! I got to try some of my boyfriend's peach snow bubble with rainbow jelly and it was pretty good too. I didn't really like the space itself. There isn't much seating and if you're just waiting to pick something up to go there's really nowhere to stand without being in someone's way. It seemed fairly chaotic behind the counter even though it was the middle of a weekday and wasn't very busy. I will say their food looked pretty darn good and I may have to pop on in and try it some time.

2 words... POPCORN CHICKEN! You had me at Popcorn chicken, Tapioca Express... This is definitely the best location for tapioca drinks & snakes. All the sacks are as good as Taiwan where those often sell on the street cart. Their spicy rating from 1 to 5 stars... I always get it 5 star & sometime do ask if they can give it 1 extra shake of hot spice! Really, this is the best ever! We had made sure we stop by at least 3 times whenever we visit Seattle!

In a nutshell: 1)Boba was tasteless but has a nice chewy consistency. Tea was super weak and there was way too much sugar in the milk tea. Fail! 2)Fried popcorn chicken - awesome! That's why it's even getting 2 stars. But mainly, I am trying to find a good boba tea place near Seattle - this is definitely not it. I guess I'm sticking to Shinka near U of W, even though I prefer larger boba instead of the smaller ones they serve there.

My favorite location for bubble tea in Lynnwood/Edmonds. Hands down. Back when I was in high school there were four locations to get bubble tea. And then along comes Tapioca Express, and it blows the other shops, in my opinion, out of the water. And their food is pretty winner.

BEST TAIWANESE FAST FOOD EVER!!! my coworkers/friends and i try to go there every once in a while since it's far from bellevue. we work with boba almost daily but we just can't compare our boba to their's. i don't know if this is true: don't go in and order right when they open cuz i heard that the fried food would be extra greasy.

Really great popcorn chicken (watch out has a spicy kick) and super bomb blueberrry italian soda (dehydrated blue berries at the bottom = game changer). The spots your typical dingy chinese spot, which doesn't bother me, but the shotty internet definitely didn't help me shop for cars while there. They were also out of big boba, which also kind of bummed me out, but all in all a great experience. Can't wait to go back!

I heard about their tasty popcorn chicken so I went here tonight w/ a buddy of mine. Got a couple orders, one mild to home to the wife and one medium spicy 3 star for myself. The service is ok, bunch of mid twenty asian guys just winging it. Half their menu said "sorry sold out" which was odd. The chicken was decent, piping hot ,good amount of spice and crispy, it was a little too salty and really greasy to the point where I actually feel sick now, I think I have grease going through my veins. The prices are pretty steep, about $10 for two orders which are the size of a medium french fry. So I tried it, not bad but likely wont be back.sorry.

My friend and I were craving some bubble tea so we headed to Tapioca Express since there aren't many other bbt places up where she lives in Kenmore :( I ordered my usual Honey Milk Tea with Tapioca and was pleasantly surprised! It wasn't too sweet and didn't taste too bitter either. The tapioca was also very soft and not too chewy or hard in the center. Maybe the tapioca was a little TOO soft though.....I had a difficult time getting it up the straw at times since it was so sticky if that makes any sense?! Overall, it was nice to enjoy a bbt on a warm summer evening! I was so used to drinking at least one a week when I was a student at UW so it was nice to get my bbt fix! I will most def. be coming back whenever I'm up north again!

The snow bubble teas, popcorn chicken, fish balls, and calamari are just some of the many tasty foods. My nieces and nephews badger me on a daily basis to take them to this place. One of the best features of this place is that it's open until 1 AM. So if you're craving for a midnight snack, then this place is just for you!

Damn best popcorn chicken Eva! Just don't get it spicy...bc no matter how many stars u request, they always over do it! I had to order a second batch, bc they ruined the first one! Otherwise it's finger licken friken good! This time I got the coconut snow bubble with litchi and baby boba. It's yum too, just wish it was a tad more like buble tea - more ice creamy.

In spite of the large crowd of teenagers that is usually present, this is my favorite spot for bubble tea and Asian fast food. Everything on the menu is great, with the exception of the wonton soup which is on the bland side. You can't go wrong however with: 1. Popcorn chicken 2. Calamari 3. Fish balls 4. Squid balls 5. Chicken katsu curry 6. Pork noodles 7. Sweet potato fries 8. Etc! Everything is extremely low-priced as well. Why would anyone go to places like McBurger, Taco Hell, etc... when places like Tapioca Express are around?

  • Riz R.

I swear it's either a conspiracy against me, but how does a bubble tea place run WITHOUT BOBA!!! Plus they didn't seal the plastic over the cup and their so called "fresh" avocado was not so fresh as I could barely taste anything more than ice blended milk! What a waste of my money and time driving up.

One of my wife and I favorite places to get Bubble Tea. I have yet to try the food here but it always smells good when I walk in. My favorite flavor to get is the large Green Apple Snow Bubble with the big boba. My wife likes to get the large Strawberry iced Milk Tea with the big boba. One of these days I will get around to trying the food.

So thanks to my darling niece, Bubble Tea has become my newest obsession of which I crave like a pregnant woman craves pickles! In fact as I sat at home held up with a sprained ankle, I sent the poor Hubster out in search of one of these refreshing treats. He did a search to find that this place is open until 1 am on Fridays and Saturdays! Wow, I had a hard time believing it but his call of telling me this little jaunt was proof of how much he loves me after wading through teens & being deafened by music of not his preference to place an order for a drink he knows nothing about. He was so intimidated by the experience that he waived on the boba! Once he tried the deliciously refreshing, not too sweet and not too creamy nectar, he soon realized my attachment! Granted I missed the boba treats at the bottom but was happy to have my fix. Thus we returned the next evening however I, with sprained ankle, braved the crowd of teens and loud music to place our orders. That's when my disappointment occured. All I had was my check card. After waiting forever, placing my order to have them tell me they wouldn't process my card unless I spent $3 more to total $10. I was really irritated! So I left and I won't be back! Sad for them as I would have been a total regular but if my $6 isn't enough to spend then forget it. I'll go somewhere else where they are happy to take my $ thank you!

I love the bubble tea at Tapioca Express! This is the only place I will get bubble tea around the Lynnwood area. The tapioca pearls are always soft and squishy, not frozen and hard. There are probably 100 different drinks on the menu to choose from. Admittedly, I have only ever ordered bubble tea with big boba, not small, so I can't attest to the other drinks. I have also had some of the food items on the menu. The sushi is so delicious. They make it fresh daily. Some of the other items are good as well, but since they are all made fresh, can take a long time to get ready. My personal favorite drink here is the Taro Icey. If you're a fan of bubble tea and live in the north end, this place is a must try!

  • Wendy L.

The bubbletea here is good! I like that they have coffee jelly and a LOT of different flavors. You can get slushy, snow bubble (icy with milk), and regular tea....and of course coffee. I'm addicted to their popcorn chicken....and their curry rice is actually really good. The katsu is well made and the fried egg with it is good (though sometimes they over cook it). I come here a lot...and it's a lot better than the Pochi's next door. I kinda like it better than Oasis, because of the selection.

Went here yesterday with a friend. We really wanted some milk tea and this place was close by. I ordered a passion fruit milk tea with mango jelly, my friend ordered green apple milk tea with tapioca. My drink tasted like straight tea with milk and absolutely no flavor of passion fruit. My friend commented that it looked like a late, the only flavor i got out of my drink was from the mango jelly. But my friend's drink was awful. Her drink wasn't the normal light green it was suppose to be, but an awful sewage/vomit color. She said it was very sour and had a medicinal/ herbal after taste and the only thing saving her drink was the tapioca. We both were unhappy with our drink and dumped them out and headed to another bubble tea location.

With a name of "Tapioca Express", you think I'd be going there for the bubble tea/shake... which apparently isn't that great. Well, those stars are definitely not for any of that. Sushi Girl goes there for the popcorn chicken, which you can order to your spice preference... and has since then gotten me hopelessly hooked. Any other craving can be overriden by some of that yummy goodness. Let me just put on the warning that once you've entered their complex, you should take the first open spot you see.. Or it might be back out to Hwy99 with you for another try. Also, if you're standing around near the pick-up area and you have a similar order to the one that just came out, the staff will be nice enough to repeatedly tell you that it's not your order... because yours is still on the way. ;p (More amused than annoyed/offended XD)

I just called this place trying to place an order to go..... the very first thing the girl who answered the phone, was asked me to hold.......; after waited for a a short while.. she came back on the phone and asked me to call back after 10 min...... oh well.... not saying she was mean or anything, but I just wish I was handled differently.... update: 1.12.2014 - Upon my last couple visits, I was told that they no longer provide wifi, which is a huge turn down for me, so I haven't visit there ever since. It feels like this location no longer owned by the previous owner who current own the same brand name in Bellevue, or otherwise, she/he should be pissed at how this location has turn into it is now..... very disappointed.......

I'm not going to say that I love all of their bubble tea, but damn I love their popcorn chicken! Let's start with the bubble tea... It's kind of hit or miss, depending on what you order. Also they have quite an extensive list, that unless you are a bubble tea FANATIC, can be a bit confusing. There's milk tea, snow bubble, icy, regular tea, espresso, juice, some juice made with fresh fruit, yogurt tea, I mean the list goes on, and I'm not quite sure of all the differences. Anyway, some of them are pretty good, I've recently had the cantaloupe snow bubble, and they actually use real cantaloupe. The taste was super fresh, and very refreshing. They also have quite a list of teriyaki type snacks, like katsu, taiwanese sausage, and my favorite..POPCORN CHICKEN. It's not your typical batter fried chicken, there's something special. It can be spicy, depending on your preference, and is so So SO good. You'll remember it all day after you burp it up!

Good bubble teas and smoothies, and extremely very generous with the bobas and jellies! My cup was 3/4 full of jellies and boba! I ordered the taro icee. The flavor was comparable to most other bubble tea places in town. BUT I hear the food at this TW bubble tea place is what sets it apart from the rest. I'll be coming back for their food...POPCORN CHICKEN!

  • Alex M.

I'm not crazy about their bubble tea but often have to settle for this place because there are not many any other choices in the area. They almost always run out of the bigger tapioca. Although they do offer smallet ones, it's just not the same. I do think they have really good calamari and popcorn chicken though. I also like the Chicken Katsu curry.

Something terrible happened to my beloved Tapioca Express over the course of the last few months. The plain and simple iced milk tea tasted chalky and oddly proportioned the last two times I had it; nothing like its former goodness. My stance is that a bubble tea shop is only as good as its plain milk tea -- if it fails at making the simplest drink on the menu (black tea, milk, sweetener, ice), I can't trust it to do anything else right. Since we were hungry, I ventured to try the wonton noodle soup, my sister ordered the chicken steak ramen but received chicken steak & rice? Both dishes tasted off and seemed to be comprised of various pre-cooked, frozen, then microwaved components. Most unappetizing wontons I've ever had; I didn't bother with more than three bites of the whole bowl. Similarly the chicken steak rice was abandoned. There remains some redeeming points though: -They still have the biggest selection of drink additions, and recently started offering these wormy-looking white tapioca strands. Sounds weird, but if you love tapioca things in drinks, you should try it. I liked it a lot, plus it was free during its introductory period. -The popcorn chicken is still fantastic. If you must eat something from here, get the popcorn chicken. -The staff are (mostly) pleasant and the drinks are made quickly, though in some cases that might be a bad thing... Maybe my bad experiences were hiccups in an otherwise stellar bubble tea place, maybe Tapioca Express is still really as good as it was when I last reviewed it. However, there are too many options closer to where I live with more solid performance records that I've no desire to go out of my way for Tapioca Express anymore. Not until that next craving for popcorn chicken hits, anyway.

So last time I left a good review, since then...here it goes... Tonight I asked for a Starfruit Icy, and it tastes just like the Plum Icy (which I didn't like because it was too salty and sour. I want a real Starfruit Icy :( Email me a coupon for a free Icy :)

The portion is much smaller than they used to be. The soy sauce egg in my dish was cold, so are the veggies and rice in my friend's dish. The flavor was still pretty authentic Taiwanese though. A good recommendation if you want to grab Taiwanese food in Shoreline or Lynnwood. [Edit] I had a crave for bubble tea so I went back again today to grab a quick drink. It was HORRIBLE. I ordered almond milk tea with half syrup and half tapioca. I could NOT taste any almond flavor! For bubble teas, I usually like the milk flavor over the tea flavor, but I know a lot of people prefer the tea flavor. Either way, the drink that I had, it didn't have a good milk or tea flavor... It was simply horrible..... I hope it's just today's barista.....

I've had A LOT of tapioca milk tea in my time... different states, different countries but man... I MUST say this is prob one of the BEST places!!! I just came back from Taiwan a few months ago and had some AMAZING tapioca milk teas over there. I was recommended by a good friend to check out TE so I did. WOW, I thought I was back in Taiwan!!! I like my tapioca soft, chewy and not burnt, TE cooks it just right!!! I also tried the popcorn chicken, damn, damn, damn it was good!!!!

Their bubble teas are fine but their food is horrible. Unlike their franchise cousins in SF, their entrees are poorly prepared. My crispy chicken meal came with cold sides that were mushy and flavorless. The chicken cutlet was not flavored evenly. And this is new..... The meal came with a pan fried egg?! Never have I seem this in a bubble tea/food place. The worst offense, however, has to be the side order of crispy fried chicken. It should have been nuggets of battered chicken but instead it's a chicken cutlet sliced into strips! It was such a rip off (for the food). If I ever go back, I'd only get their drinks.

Excellent place for bubble tea. Their menu has so many options including hot bubble milk teas that are mind blowing. Prior to finding this place I had only had slush bubble tea drinks. This place seems to be always open no matter how late I show up and they have teryiaki too so its a good place for a late night bite if nothing else is open. When I visit I'm also usually the only white person in there which is usually a good sign when your trying foreign food ;)

This is the only bubble tea place I have found near me that serves mini-boba. I love the mini-bobas and have been searching for them in Washington. I was so happy when I walked in and saw the minis. I was not so happy when I tasted my drink. The mini bobas tasted like they had been cooked yesterday and left to sit. They were clumping up like crazy and I could barely get them through the straw. There were lots of people in here, so I am being generous and giving them three stars instead of two. It could be that mini-boba just aren't as popular. I will give Tapioca Express another try. The service was wonderful. The girl who took my order was friendly, and I got my drink quickly.

I love love loves bubble tea here. I stopped by more often when I worked in Edmond. Oh how I miss the coconut smoothie with coconut/lychee jelly and its about the best I've had here. Not as watered down as others.

When I was living in Lynnwood I literally spend almost every night just chilling in TapEx, bumping into familiar faces, and playing Go for 5 hours. I'd say it's a great place to be because everytime I go there I always see people I know. Hell, even the people who work there goes to my school (plus, Indonesians are one of their biggest customers). So whenever I don't feel like spending time in my semi-ghetto apartment in Somerset Village, I made a quick trip to Tapex and hang out till they practically kick me out of the door (which is 2 AM). I've pretty much tried almost every drinks they have on the menu, and absolutely none disappoints. The snacks are to die for: popcorn chicken & fish cakes are deep fried goodies hand-crafted by the angels of God himself. It is that damn good, yes. I found myself bubble tea depraved when I left Seattle. No matter where I go, every Taro Milk Tea I ordered just doesn't add up to the ones I used to chug in Tapioca Express. :(

I am DONE giving Tapioca Express my business. They are the closest place to me for bubble tea, but it's a complete waste of time to go there when 75% of the time they don't have any kind of tapioca. I've tried going at different times, since once I showed up around 12:30 when they opened at noon, and was told it would be about half an hour before the boba was ready. I figured, ok, hard for them to get everything ready before opening...although that's not really acceptable. I've gone in at 1:30 and they were also out, or it wasn't ready, or who knows why they didn't have it. This weekend I went in at 3:30, thinking there was no way it wouldn't be ready by now, but they had "just had a rush" and were out! Plus, they were out of black tea! That's a HUGE portion of their menu! How is this possible?? The NAME of the place is Tapioca Express, not Tapioca Wait-a-Half-an-Hour, or Anything-BUT-Tapioca Express. This has just happened way too many times now for me to let it go (I'd say 6 of the last 10 times I've gone over the last 6 months). I'll just wait until I'm in the U District to get my bubble tea, or head to Pochi on 164th.

POPCORN CHICKEN!!! Honestly I don't drink much bubble tea and when I do I get a small here, it's nice they have more than one giant cup to choose from. I'd say the real reason I go here and enjoy it so much is the popcorn chicken. Man, it's done asian style, the spices are just right and you can get it 1-5 stars hot. Best popcorn chicken I've had other than in the south, and all for $4. The place is kind of strange inside you get the feeling you just walked into China for a min and they play crazy dance club music so I get my chicken and get out.

VERY cool bubble tea. Almost too many choices for a newbie like me. But the fresh ingredients were amazing! I had a watermelon ice boba--great, and the boba wasn't too hard or frozen. A bit too loud to hang inside, but there's some quieter tables outside. A large was only around $3.

I used to hang out here several years back. The boba here is consistent. My favorite is the milk tea w/big boba. They have a large selection of drinks and food item on the menu. Popcorn chicken here is a MUST! Service is generally quick.

Tapioca Express has the best bubble tea in North Seattle. There is so much bad bubble tea around these days (artificial flavorings, powdered mind, tons of sugar, stale or undercooked tapioca -- ewww!) that I'd almost given up on drinking the stuff. Fortunately, I found Tapioca Express while car shopping on 99 in Edmonds. The tea, the tapioca -- everything is fresh and delicious. They even have two sizes of bubble tea so you don't have to get some giant portion or spend a lot of money just for a cool drink. I've tried their little snacks several times -- interesting and delicious. Finally, it's a quiet, clean, attractive place to hang out and chat with a friend or read a book. Top-rated!

Have been coming here for years. Not this location, but they do have some in Cali where I'm from. This place is similar to the ones there. The boba drinks are good, as is the popcorn chicken. This location isn't too big, but it can accomodate larger sized groups. Just depends on when you go. It's a nice spot to hit up if you want some iced tea or some light food.

YUMYUM yumyum I was a bubble tea virgin until late last year, when my baby sister introduced me to this sweet, gooey, chewtastic slurpfest of a bevsnack (or is it a snackrage?). I have only tried the snow bubbles, i dont know what to order when it comes to the regular tea, and it doesnt look like it would stay cold enough for me. And i will confess, i have never tried boba, still. I dont like tapioca. I have tried the jellys and the mango jelly is my absolute favorite (not just because they are * shaped but that also has huge appeal for me, i love *'s.) I have eaten teriyaki here a couple times, and they make it pretty well! Its served with a tasty little salad with yummy dressing. I have also had the gyoza and sweet potato fries, which were pretty standard fried yummies. If you come here on a weekday, it is dead. on weekends, people steal your seat as soon as you get up to get a manga. Jerks!!

Not he greatest Tap Ex I've been to. Typically I go for the bubble tea, which here, is more in the realm of "good not great", the food here is okay too. Meh.

I have been going to Tapioca Express forever, in CA, so I was so excited to see one up here back in 05. They had just opened, so we went in, and the I am guessing owner says she hoped that they do well, she wasn't sure what the future may bring. Fast forward to 08 and they are still doing quite well. I love bubble teas, and now with all the different add ins, the possibilities are endless. My favorites are the Avocado snow bubble (yummy, and creamy, nice on a hot day), Mango , and the Thai Tea snow bubble. They have great snacks too, my standbys are the Calamari, popcorn chicken, and fish balls. I would watch the how spicy it is, the seasoning is pretty spicy. 3 is about right. Also it seems the spicier the saltier it is too. Though I guess it depends on who is in charge of the cooking. The only thing I wouldn't order is the Yakisoba, the last time I got it, it was sitting in a puddle of oil. Definitely not a good deal, for the tum. It is true though, on Friday and Saturday nights, this place is pretty crowded and LOUD! Come prepared to be deafened by the noise and also a wait for your orders. Love this joint though.

Best tapioca tea in Seattle! It is a franchise tapioca tea chain originated from Taiwan. There are lot of choices not only original "bubble" but baby bubble (highly recommended if you had bad experienced in regular sized boba), rainbow jelly, coffee jelly (that's good in milk tea), ......you can have your own combination and invention. Also, they have snacks & rice meal. 5 levels of spiciness for chicken nuggets. I just tried Taiwanese sausage meal today and it was yummy. ;oP

This place serves some really damn great Taiwanese food. Smoothies are pretty good, but tea is just average. I'm addicted to the Pork Noodles and Popcorn Chicken. They also have free wi-fi, which is always a plus. Do try to avoid dining-in on weekend nights, the place gets really crowded, even walking through the place could be difficult, people also tend to talk too loud.

The milk tea bubble tea here always have a very strong tea flavor, and sometimes it can taste a little bitter for me. The fruit slushies are always a little on the sweet side. I was disappointed that they did not have Japanese milk tea here. Me: "Do you guys have Japanese milk tea?" Girl: "Well we have a different name for that and it's called Matcha. It has a green color." Me: "Umm...I think that's different. So you guys don't have Japanese milk tea?" Girl: "We have Matcha." Me: "I'll just get Jasmine milk tea." All the drinks come in this flimsy bubble tea cup that I hate because it reminds me of the bubble tea cups that they use at Oasis. The tapioca is nice and chewy, and they come with many different stuff to put in your drink like big boba, small boba, rainbow jelly, grass jelly, etc. I like how they also serve lots of different types of food like popcorn chicken, fish balls, and many others. They can be a little cheap because when I used my stamp card to get a free bubble tea, it only qualifies for a small size with nothing in it, and I would have to pay for extras like tapioca and what not. The place can get packed sometimes and they seem to crank up the music pretty loud so it's hard to have a conversation. I wish they could also turn down the AC because it's cold in there too. I guess this place is a good if you want to try bubble tea that's a little more original since Tapioca Express came from Taiwan, but overall I've had better bubble tea.

I like their bubble tea and the fish cake. the only thing that i hate is their consistency on the spiciness. Sometimes when i ordered 3 out of 5 it came out as 5 out of 5. And when i ordered 4star it came out as 2 stars. They really need to fix that!!! Other than that i love this place! =)

We came here for Bubble Tea, which is always excellent. I ordered a large hazelnut with coffee jelly. I got a small, which was okay - but when we informed them of the mistake, they were pretty rude about it. The hazelnut with the coffee jellies was the perfect mix. My son and his friend ordered french fries - for $2.50 they got this HUGE plate of wonderfully seasoned fries. The friend I was with ordered these sweet potato fries and gave me a try. Let me tell you, those were some of the tastiest morsels I've ever eaten. Perfectly seasoned, and such flavorful sweet potatoes. I'm salivating just thinking about them, but when I ordered, the cashier was beyond snotty and acted like she'd rather be shootin' the breeze with her buddies than actually *gasp* doing her job. We'll definitely go back, but I hope for better service. They are located on 99 right up the street from Ranch 99, the decor is pleasing, and they are always crowded. I recommend, but if you expect friendly, upbeat service, go South a few miles and head to Bubble Island!

Great I love there Green Apple milk tea :D One setback though the people at the register don't speak English that well so that's why it makes it 4 stars.

they have a huge bubble tea menu including slush, milk teas and a few others different kinds i wasn't too familiar with in several different flavors. they also had the option of big or baby boba but when i went in, they didnt have big boba. my husband and i both got thai tea with baby boba and a teryaki chicken meal. the thai tea was yummy and i really enjoyed the baby boba! the meal came with rice and salad also. it was all yummy and the chicken wasn't greasy or anything. they also had bookshelves on the walls filled with manga and some wire racks filled with magazines. seems like it would be a fun place to hang out with a group of friends after school. i'm a little past that stage in life, but thats the vibe i got. it's not far from my house so i'm sure i'll be back.

This place have everything! Food, espresso coffee, milk shake, yogurt, and milk tea! Wow, i've tried the food here and it tastes as good as restaurant quality. They have big plasma on the wall, it's great for a hang out place with friends. My favorite drinks are the yogurt, milk tea, and slush here. All flavors are great!

My family has been really disappointed by Tapioca Express and we stopped supported their business because of their TERRIBLE customer service. When I say terrible, I really mean worst of the absolute worst. Just thinking about how rude and snobby they are shocks me. I have gone in there years ago with my dad and every time we went, there was a GUARANTEE that the order would be off, even on a slow day. When we tried to tell them that our drink order was made incorrectly (we were very polite about this each time), they would stare at us like we were a pain in their day and ask if we really wanted to change our order. Hello? we never asked to change our order, you made it wrong (which is okay) but the attitude is all wrong. They had the nerve to tell us to get back in line and pay for new ones. The last time I was in there, the girl completely messed my order up and I told her so, since I payed for it afterall. She glared at me for a good 5 seconds before saying anything and she told me to "get back in line and order a new one". Avoid a waste of your money.

Being from CA, I have sampled plenty of good and bad bubble teas. This place is the best in seattle by far. The tapiocas and milk tea are always the right consistency and flavoring. There are also lots of other additions for those not interested in tapioca. Must try the popcorn chicken (spicy 1-5 star rating). If it wasnt for the slowness of the staff, i would have given it 5 stars. But they have improved since the opening day.

Great drinks. Really crowded most of the time with people pushing their tables together and being loud. So loud sometimes you can't even here someone that's 12 inches away from you. LOL definitely not a "hang out" place unless your hair is wacky and the rest of your friends are the same. Or if you enjoy browsing through magazines which of foreign language and suggestive looking images. (if you been there you'll know what I mean). Come grab your drink and go. Try the yogurt and avocado drink. - They are awesome! Open up late during the weekend for those occasion when you're craving bubble tea is definitely a plus!

I love this place. The tapioca and lychee are always fresh and come in bunch of different styles and sizes. The staff is pretty efficient for the amount of drinks and food they produce. The food is delicious, especially the spicy popcorn chicken or the noodle soup with...spicy popcorn chicken. :)
