Before our daughter took us to the airport, we went into Burien for lunch. We had an enjoyable and very tasty lunch. My wife had a chicken, fruit, and nut chopped salad and I had a cup of delicious sausage and kale soup and a three cheese panini. The panini was very good also. We shared three different kinds of cookies for dessert. There were left over cookies to take home and share with the absent son-in-law who was at work.

This IS a gem in downtown Burien from what I have read from other posts. As soon as we walked in it was packed. A customer was nice enough to move to a smaller table so my sisters, kids and I can sit. The service was great. The food was good as well. I ordered a cappuccino, which was nice and strong. I also ordered the steak salad. The steak was cooked perfectly. The only complain I have was that the lettuce in my salad was a tad old. I noticed a few pieces that were pink so I just put them on the side and kept eating. I did have a bite of what my sister ordered which was the warmed cabbage salad and it was lovely. I wish I would have got that one instead.

Breakfast is great here. The coffee is the best, and I love that you can get smaller breakfast meals and even a half order of the standard 2 egg breakfast. It's very nice for those of us looking for a lighter breakfast. We also love coming here for dinner. Sometimes I have the same waitress for dinner on Friday night and breakfast on Saturday morning! The wait staff are all really friendly and great. Meal wise, I've had the crepes, rigatoni and the rib-eye steak and they have all been delicious. The only part of their meals (breakfast and dinner) that I'm not so into is their potatoes, but I think it's just because they are just okay and the rest of their food is so amazing.

Great place for dinner! I had an amazing pork chop the other day in their 913 bar next to the 909 courtyard. All the entrees are wonderful. Best gourmet food in Burien.

Originally came here for Breakfast, but at 11:30 they only had lunch going. The overall ambiance of the restaurant was charming and warm. I got a raspberry green tea and my mom got a cappuccino, both were really good. I settled on the quinoa kale salad which was very flavorful and filling. My mom got the BLT panini which was cooked nicely with crispy bacon. Which is always a plus. For both of us it was only $25 dollars, pretty inexpensive. I would rate them 5 stars, but parking is a little hard to find being its only street parking. I'll go back again to try breakfast.

Came in on a Saturday morning around 10am. There wasn't a queue but all tables were taken. Looking around, I wonder why they allow parties of two to hole up at tables that could seat 6 and 4. Just a pet peeve of mine, when people aren't efficient in life. And I'm not talking permanent tables that can't be moved, I'm talking they pushed single tables together, creating a table for 6, then sat 2 ladies down who proceeded to plop right in the center chairs on each side. Anyways, I'll get off my soapbox and get on with reviewing the food, beverage and service now. Once we got seated, the service was most excellent. I really liked the medium noise level: just enough ambient noise to keep my baby sleeping, but just low enough to where hubby and I could conversate comfortably across the table from each other. As for the food: Frittata - I wasn't really impressed with the frittata special of the day. It was really thin and felt elastic in texture. Couldn't really tell what was in it and not super flavorful. French toast - A-Mazing! This is what I would come back for! Special of the day had bacon and brie stuffed inside delicious bread. I normally don't even like French Toast, but saw others who had it and ordered it in the off-chance that I would actually enjoy it. Best decision that day! Almond steamed milk - really well made. We will definitely come back!

Hannah is amazing at making coffee. This is what Seattle is about in making coffee!!!

Update on 909. We tried the place again this time with our family. We were in line to sit and the hostess sat 2 people behind us first and made us wait AGAIN! Lets the the math a table of four is open so let's seat the party of 2 in that spot ahead of the party of 4?!?? I have left and will not be coming back again. I WOULD NOT recommend this place to anyone looking for breakfast, service is simply horrible.

Awesome service! I went here for dinner and they have a selection of seasonal dishes available. Order quickly as they go quickly! I'll have to come back for brunch sometime.

It was my first time here and we, my wife and I, had a really great experience. Great service, the food was off the charts simple and filled with great flavors. Come here and enjoy it. A new favorite for us.

This place was very cute, and seemed very popular but we didn't have to wait too long on a Saturday morning. The entire menu looked awesome. Had the caprese Benedict and it was sooo good!

  • H D.

151st street in Burien is really up and coming. 909 is helping make that happen. I've only been there for breakfast, but it was wonderful! I got the caprese benedict and it was incredible! Just typing it makes me want to go and get one immediately. Good ambiance, great staff. Definitely worth a visit!

This is a wonderful spot in Old Town and at night has juuuust the right amount of dim light and vibe. I started out with an app, which I think was a bruschetta or crostini, I forgot. It was tasty, though, and you also get complimentary bread and olive oil dip sauce (a nice light white and slightly heartier dark bread). My main was the Roasted Chicken Breast. Great flavor, tender smooth chicken, fresh and yummy. Some may feel it's a bit on the high side. Also had a water-no-ice and an Angry Orchard cider to expedite my sleepy time. Even though it was late, it seems like people order coffee any time of the day. I thought about a dirty chai but didn't want it with Oregon. While at the bar, the lady who took care of me was friendly and charming. I may have to try dessert sometime. I would probably come here on the regular occasion if I lived in the neighborhood.

If you haven't had dinner at the 909 you're missing a great meal in a warm and inviting neighborhood vibe.

  • Lauren D.

I love, love , LOVE this place. When I moved Into the neighborhood I was a little worried that I wouldn't have any restaurants to visit on a regular basis. The drive to Seattle for the occasional breakfast, lunch and dinner seemed like a daunting task. I gave this place a try and have been coming back on almost a weekly basis for a few months now. The food is great! It's fresh, and healthy in the sense that you don't feel like a greasy, heavy mess after eating it. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are ALL good. Usually a restaurant is known for one meal specifically, but they are good all around. The employees are always friendly and give good, prompt service.

Great service, friendly staff, good food/portions. Really enjoyed brunch here this morning! Will definitely come again. Came around 9am, no wait but it slowly started to get full so maybe go earlier to avoid a wait. I got the 909 breakfast, eggs, bacon (meaty and crispy), toast with strawberry jam. I highly recommend the rosemary roasted potatoes side, it was delicious. I felt the prices here were very reasonable.

  • Jessica E.

Great food, service and environment. It's the only place I have been to in a LONG time that has good everything. The starter (French onion soup) main course (chicken crepe) and dessert (brownie Sunday And coffee) were all delicious. The service was quick and genuine. I can't wait to come back and try their breakfast!

  • Mariah M.

I eaten here once for dinner and once for brunch. The dinner meal was good. Price was a little high, but amount of food met proving. The breakfast meal was good, not as much food, decent, but I think I would go else where for breakfast.

excellent location for a brunch date. friendly staff and pleasant ambiance provides a good setting for a great brunch. the basics eggs and bacon is a good start. the bacon has a nice balance of crispy and chewy...really appreciate the thick cut. yogurt, granola, and fruit might seem expensive for what it is but the ingredients used are fantastic. the yogurt has a touch of honey to balance the natural tang and the granola adds a great crunch to offset the fresh picked berries. honestly have experienced better french toast elsewhere but its fine here. highly recommend the caprese benedict. if i lived in the area i would probably order that on a regular basis...its the right portion for a nice small brunch with lots of interesting flavors in each bite; very enjoyable for the palette. gotta admit im still trying to develop a taste for coffee. the offerings here seem pretty good...lots of strong rich flavors. im not sure since coffees are new to me good food, good ambiance, good food, worth the trip...happy eating

As we return to the 909 for the third time, second of the year so far, we were greeted with the warmest of smiles by the staff. The cheerful cries of welcome were like music to our ears. As if we were sitting at Carnegie Hall having the New York symphony playing a ballad written just for us. When we asked for a table for just the two of us, Vivian gave us the table we sat at the first time we came in as if she wanted to bring back memories of our first lunch we had here last year. The BBQ chicken and BLT sandwiches tasted as if Martha Steward had handcrafted them herself. Does she work here? I mean OMG the flavors just came together in a perfect medley of culinary excellence exploding on our palates! As we looked through your dessert menu we both stopped breathing when we locked eyes on your hand foraged cascade huckleberry cheese cake. We were so enamored with this item that we had to have it. Upon taking that first decadent bite we fell in love. The flavors of this masterpiece were as if cherubs were dancing on our taste buds. The likes of this dessert have never been had by the two of us. I think that the next time we come to this fine establishment the huckleberry cheese cake will be the only thing we get. The time between visits to the 909 are as if two lovers have been separated. We long to return as soon as we can. Forever yours Peter and Ben Ps sorry for camping at your table, but we love this place so much we had to get this off our chest. Thank you and God bless.

The 909/913 is my favorite place to eat in Burien. I love pretty much everything I eat here, We eat on the more 913 side more often because we like cocktails with dinner, but we come to the 909 here for breakfast probably 3 times a month. The wait staff is so friendly, accommodating, just all around awesome. Even though our kids can be kids, they are always so understanding and help us get in, eat and get out before the kids wig out. The coffee is really good. The brunch portions are not crazy huge, everything is fresh and high quality. Sometimes I wish it were just a smidge cheaper for breakfast, but it doesn't stop me from going all the time :-)

Its okay, but I don't know that I would think of it to go to. Went for lunch, and it was a good place for what I would call - "ladies" lunch. Which is great if that is what you are into. I like some variety, and there are so many new great places in the area that come to mind first. It is solid and the service was pretty good.

We had the Ravioli, the BBQ Ck Panini and the 909 club Sandwich. The ravioli was undercooked, the spinach over cooked.. The BBQ chicken was dry and flaky. As was the chicken in the 909.. On the upside, my son's dad liked his mocha but my son's hot chocolate "the worst I've tasted" being a Seattleite with a coffee loving dad, he's surprisingly discerning with his hot chocolate.. The staff seemed overly flustered for the number of people here. Ambiance was its only saving grace.. Nice interior design. Still, you can do better just going north to Seattle, or even just a few minutes drive north to White Center's Meander's Kitchen. Skip this one.

FYI do not come here to get work done or to study. Unless you don't want Internet.. This is a full-service coffee and wine restaurant. This is not your typical coffee shop. All that to say, coffee is up to par and food is wonderful. Would definitely recommend this spot for a romantic date or a nice place to grab coffee and a snack in the afternoon.

Enjoyed the experience! Outdoor seating can be tricky in the Pacific NW, but they figured it out. Heaters and even blankets are provided for those chilly evenings. Pink Vespa cocktail was super tasty. Cheese plate was pretty good and came with a nice info sheet of what's what. Wish there were more small plate options.

This has to be one of the best breakfast places in burien! We came there on a Sunday for breakfast and I was so excited. The white mocha was so delicious and when I choose to order I noticed the biscuits and gravy and was so excited. I ordered the potatoes on the side and even got scrambled eggs on top and I'm sorry but I'm not sorry this breakfast was the best breakfast I've ever had!!! I am so so so happy and excited!!!! I think everyone should eat here!!!!

Frank is a genius! The food, wine and atmosphere of 909 is amazing. If you are interested in a culinary experience while living near or visiting Olde Town Burien than 909 is a must go! You won't be disappointed! I recommend the crab crepes and Franks Wine Flight. Don't forget to save room for dessert.

I've always been satisfied with their espresso drinks; and their biscotti is nice. However, the food is overpriced for what is delivered. Presenting a dessert the size of a small cupcake on an oblong platter the size of a keyboard is too much of a contrast; the flourish of RASPBERRY coulis made from STRAWBERRIES was a gross error which caused me to break out in hives (b/c I have a strawberry sensitivity). The waitstaff tried to convince me that they made the coulis with a mixture of the 2 berries; LET YOUR CUSTOMER KNOW!

Great place for brunch on a budget! Nice little place in downtown Burien not far from Tukwila and the Sound. It is a cozy place that has the small hometown feel but at the same time with modern taste. We had the quiche, frittata and french toast and all were tasty; however, the quiche was way too light on the vegetables and the frittata was a bit too thin leaving me feeling half full. Other than that, the overall experience was worthwhile and recommendable.

Consistently fantastic! We had the filet last night and it was cooked to perfection. Seriously one of the best filets I've had. We continue to enjoy the 909 because of the menu is interesting and always has great specials. Plus the wine list - both by the glass and bottle - is extensive. Live music, atmosphere and service are wonderful. We are fans!

Had a wonderful Mothers Day Brunch there. Chicken Salad was superb! Coffee was great!Service was spot on. Loved the offer of free bread. Al 5 of us found our food to be top of the line. Plenty of free parking nearby. Prices very reasonable.

I really enjoyed my lunch here! I got the rueben which was very tasty. Service was very quick and polite. It was a beautiful day out so I got to sit on their patio which was a treat. I think it is a great addition to downtown Burien, and I will definitely check it out again!

This is a winning spot for breakfast! Also, lunch, dinner, and anything in between. Food is always great and so is the friendly service!

This is a very nice intimate kind of place. Bread is served with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. I had the chicken crepes. It was absolutely delicious with basil cream sauce. I paired the crepes with a nice Riesling. My friend had skewered prawns with a salad. She said it was exactly what she wanted. She had hers with a red wine. We sat there talking for a couple hours and they didn't kick us out! I would definitely go back. Low key but classy place!

I came in solo one day and had a fritata. It was excellent. I am trying to not eat carbs so breakfast is really hard. This had no potatoes or toast so I had a nice meal and was still a good boy. I really like this place and I will definitely come back with the whole fam and try a little more of the menu.

The food was amazing. My husband had the fritatta of the day, and I had a delicious lemon blueberry scone. I had chai tea that was really good. Even got a scone to take home. I forgot about it for three days. I just popped it in the microwave for a few seconds and it still tasted wonderful. Definitely want to try dinner here sometime.

Went for breakfast Sunday. Have to say I was disappointed. We were seated by a girl we didn't see smile the entire time we were there. Service was slow and once our order was taken to the time we left no one checked on us. Our coffee wasn't refilled and in fact my husband had to ask someone for more coffee. He had the frittata of the day and our server had to find out what it was. I ordered the French toast and it arrived burnt and cold. No flavor at all. I ordered a side of potatoes and they were obviously left over from the night before and reheated. Steamed and sitting in a pool of olive oil. Not appetizing at all. Pricey for 2 - our entrees and 2 mochas plus tip $40! Menu is very limited for breakfast and the lunch choices which were listed on the breakfast menu were few. We won't go back. Not worth the drive.

Ohhhhhh yessssss! I have had this little spot bookmarked and I am glad I got the chance to come here this afternoon weekend! Located off Old Burien 152nd Ave, this cafe is surrounded by other cute non-chained owned businesses. Inside you will find the coffee/wine bar centered with seating scattered around. In one nook, is a gas buring fireplace with comfy chairs nestled in its nook. Off to the right, is a LARGE outdoor seating area with both uncovered and covered areas. Just like its decor, even the bathrooms are pleasant to visit! Menus offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, coffee, wine and pastries. For this visit my friend and I came here for lunch. I selected the Seasonal Salad with red wine and oregano vineargarette dressing, roasted chicken, walnuts, red peppers, kalamata olives. The salad comes in both a side and meal size. The meal size is plenty if you are looking to make a meal of it. For dessert, we tried the chocolate mousse ganache - which is very rich and a good choice if you love chocolate hold the flour please =D

Flat iron steak with a hint of cumin scrumptious. Kool and the Gang and other 80s songs wafting through the speakers nauseating...

We've gone back and had better experiences at 909 and their sister bar, 919. Maybe our first visit was an off night.

After relocating to this area almost three years ago I was completely surprised to find the charming old town area of Burien on 152nd St. Our favorite place to eat in this area is 909 Coffee and Wine. They have a slightly rotating menu, which I like because it is a much more effective way to offer variety than just having a daily special. I haven't had a bad dish here and have eaten at least 50 times in the few years we have lived here. My go to is the ribeye steak (luckily they don't rotate this one out very often). I have yet to find a better steak, even downtown Seattle. I no longer need to go to the Brooklyn, Met, or Daniel's to find the steak that will make me cry while I eat it. The ribeye is always marbled perfectly, consistenly cooked how I order (medium rare), and presented beautifully on the plate. I have had their Kobe burger, meatloaf, salmon, and many other things from the menu; however, this is the dish that I yearn for when I walk through their doors. Other must haves are the braised pork shank (often sells out) and the beet salad starter. Very delicious. They also have a diverse wine list and every waiter I have had is very knowledgeable about their wine list and can make recommendations based on your tastes and dish pairing. Really a great way to explore French, Italian and South American wines. The recommendations are great for getting me outside of my regular rotations. Otherwise, I would be drinking Washington wines every day. Their desserts are always fantastic. I especially like the affogato when they have salted caramel gelato available, which is rare because it sells out so often. Get it if they have it. They also do a fantastic breakfast. They use Cafe Umbria brand coffee and you can't get a better espresso. I also really like that the owner, Frank, comes out and talks to customers. He is such an unpretentious guy and really nice to see him socializing with the customers. Note: They only serve wine for alcohol here, but you can sit in the outdoor area between 909 and 913 and get drinks from 913 and order food from the 909 menu. Also, definitely make a reservation if you are going on a Friday or Saturday night. Otherwise you won't get a table.

We frequently dinning here. Great food and seasonal foods- sometimes the portions are a little small for the $$ but love the outside seating between the 913 and the 909! We are regulars here now and still love it !!

This is an awesome place to hang out later at night! The coffee is great, and the service is too. The waitress we had the first time we went was very friendly and remembered us the next time we came back. The appetizers we had were pretty good too. Also they have live music on Saturday nights (I think) which can be fun.

This is a go-to spot for work lunch meetings. Food is good, service is efficient yet friendly, and the space is clean, spacious, and not too noisy. I usually get the 'Best of Both Worlds' the soup/salad and sandwich combo since I have a hard time choosing - can't go wrong!

Good coffee, I really liked it, but there was a very bad vibe this morning. There was one particular employee that I just wanted to give a big hug to: Something happened to make this lady cry, I don't know what, but she came out and she had obviously been crying, and was trying to hold herself together. I've worked in the restaurant business, and I've also managed before. It was apparent by the way that the other employees were treating her that something bad had happened. All I can say is that it was very bad management to not have had this lady take a break to pull herself together. I hope that she may see this someday, and knows that I think she deserves better than that, and if I ever open a restaurant, that I'd hire her in a heartbeat, it just broke my heart to see her upset, and to see the other employees being cold toward her, maybe they were afraid to comfort her, I don't know, but it just felt so wrong. Good food, good drinks do your restaurant no good when you can't work well together, and leave an everlasting impression on your customers. This was my first visit, and just may have been my last.

Best breakfast around. I ordered the basic 909 breakfast, eggs, bacon and toast and it was delicious! The scrambled eggs were cooked just right, the bacon was thick and plentiful, the toast was toasted perfectly and was both crunchy and chewy. The jam was fresh and tasty too. The drip coffee was smoooooth , hot and oh so good(cafe umbra I think). The atmosphere is cozy, homey and quaint all in one. The service was friendly, knowledgable, fast and absolutely perfect. 5 stars for sure!!!!!!!!

My family and I had brunch on Sunday (11/2). There were 8 of us and a baby. We are a National Lampoons kind of family, where even a simple breakfast outing can turn into an adventure/debacle. From the very start things were orchestrated by 909 staff to go smoothly. We were seated in the back (so as not to disturb other patrons) and we didn't even have to ask for a high-chair. The server was extremely attentative to our never-ending needs (more coffee, water, cream, requests for sides, etc), always with a smile. We requested ahead of time to slip the check among multiple orders and he didn't bat an eye. The server was so pleasant that if he wasn't genuine I think he should go into acting (an academy award would surely be in his future!). Besides the excellent service, the food was phenomenal! 8/8 people in our group enjoyed their food. Most noteworthy was: the peanut butter french-toast (decadent) & caprese Benedict (flavorful, nice presentation). If you are looking for an IHOP style resturant, this is not the place for you. The somewhat limited selection (which other reviewers mentioned) didn't diminish from experience because the choices were so varied. I got kudos from even my most particular family member for choosing 909. From start to finish everything was exceptional.

I came here for the first time a month or two ago after work for a light dinner. I will definitely come back and recommend it to everyone I know. I came during the busy dinner hour but my service was still very timely and pleasant. Their appetizer bread is good and hearty, they give you a dish of vinegar and olive oil to dip it in, which is probably worth at least two of the stars I gave itself, it was so sweet and yummy! My main course was the crab crepe. I was very pleased, the presentation was there, the flavor infiltrated my mouth and made sweet sweet tender love to my tummy. The sauce was very rich and creamy but not overbearing overbearing, just right. It was very rich food that was just light enough to not make me regret the last bite. My mom had a meat and cheese sample dish that I also tasted and it was very delicious as well. We were seated in the outside patio area in the middle of the building, I love the atmosphere out there. Everything looks and feels so nice and upscale /trendy though its just in quiet Olde Burien. Even though it was packed it still felt like a hidden gem. It's a great place for a date or intimate party, such as a birthday or engagement dinner.

This is a great place to eat, drink, and spend a lot of money. Everything I've tried has been phenominal. If fillet mignon is on the menu don't pass it up. It is pepper crusted and unbeliveable. The meatballs are wonderful. Drinks are great here too. They also have a bar next door with a covered patio area in between and it is one of my favorite places to go.

909 gave me a great first impression of downtown Burien. I have always heard that Burien is sketchy, but this downtown is actually quite cute. I met my friend here for breakfast and had a great experience. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, the service is pleasant, the prices are reasonable (easily less than $10/person), and it is so easy to find street parking. The menu items sounded so tasty and creative. We eventually decided on the smoked salmon panini (lox type salmon with spinach, red onions, and capers mascarpone in a freshly pressed ciabatta) and the caprese benedict (two pesto-smeared ciabatta halves with ooey gooey smoked mozzarella, two eggs, and tomato jam on top),and a small pot of jasmine green tea. The food was delicious and served with two grapefruit wedges. I loved every morsel and only wanted more! The smokiness of the salmon really came through and accompanied well by the other ingredients. There were a bit too many onions but easy enough to pick out. I loved the benedict. It is the best benedict I have ever had because I despise hollondaise sauce....it is evil. The tomato jam was a great way to use tomatoes as part of a classic caprese and the smoked mozzarella was heavenly. My only complaint is that I was still hungry. A side of bacon or cup of fruit would have been a nice addition. By the way, a small pot ($3) of tea was the perfect amount for us. We easily got 2 cups each out of it and the tea bag is so big that adding more water wound not have diluted the taste at all. Our waiter was genuinely nice, down to earth, and laid back. He was also very attentive. If only all people who worked in customer service were as pleasant and poised...!

After recently relocating to Burien, I found the small town charm of the downtown area intriguing. I was interested in sampling the many cute cafes along the main road and around the area. 909 Coffee & Wine is one of the first cafes I had the pleasure of trying. Right away I was a fan of their coffee. Although it's not the speediest if you just want to get in and out, its worth the wait. The staff are friendly, and always make sure your coffee is the way you want it. The food is good, and its a nice place to go for breakfast in the area. The prices are good, a little high but the food is tasty. I wish they served breakfast longer. However, it has a nice, elegant charm, the coffee and food are great and the staff is friendly and polite, so I am definitely a fan :)

Great brunch, lunch, or even happy hour spot for small groups! Consistently nice and friendly service. Quality ingredients, great rotating ravioli and unique soups. Warm and cozy environment with a cute bar built in the middle. Can't go wrong for simple hearty foods with good flavor! Oh and of course the amazingly perfect lattes!

Downtown Burien has a strip of local happy hour spots and cute small bars. 909 is among this strip and has a cute, cozy and nice ambience. I went here with one of my girlfriends just to wine and dine a little- catch up time! FOOD: I ordered the Halibut with Asparagus. It was yummy. No complaints. My friend ordered the Crab Crepe which was really good. I normally don't like crepes in general but this tasted like lasagna, I might come back for just that. The dessert menu looked really good but I refrained from it this time due to being full. Overall good place to catch up with some friends, I will come back to try more items of their changeable menu

Panini - Chicken, Bacon, Swiss, Spinach, Garlic Aioli on Ciabatta bread The chicken was tender and juicy. The bacon and spinach go well together to offset the saltiness that bacon brings. To top it off with a great toasted ciabatta bread. Ravioli - Beef and cheese Ravioli, baked with spicy marinara and smoked mozzarella. The ravioli was well balanced. I especially like the spicy marinara it was simple and the flavors blended in well with the smokiness of the cheese and the perfectly cooked ravioli. If you order the two, the tomato sauce goes well with the chicken ciabatta as well. :) As for the decor it is cozy and friendly reminds me of a less hoity toity wine venue. The wait staff were extremely helpful and nice. Always greeting you with a smile. Gotta love that! Great for lunch! Must come back for the breakfast and dinner.

This is a great place for lunch. I went with a friend of mine who has an office not far from here and mentioned that It would be a great place to eat. Looking ahead of time I saw that there were many positive reviews on Yelp already. I came in with moderately high expectations, and my expectations were meet. The service of 909 Coffee and Wine was quick, and the atmosphere had a warm home feeling to it. There were quite a bit of selections for food. I wanted to try the crepes, but I think I'll try those another time. I ended up getting the prime rib bagette, i think that's what it was. It was served with potato chips that I think they made on the spot. It was made kettle style. Big plus for that. Also before we got our food, we were served some bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. This place is a solid 4 star place,

Given the choice, this is the coffee place I always go to. Why? They have lever-pull espresso. They use Cafe Umbria coffee. My quad, short, breve, mocha always comes out *Perfect*. I haven't actually eaten here before, I just go for the coffee. The staff is awesome, and have always treated me very well. It's a nice little shop in "Olde Burien", and I can always stop at the Danish bakery down the street, or Lucky Donuts further down the street to complete my morning. Update: My wife and I had dinner here the other night. The Kobe Beef Burger was Great! Better than Red Mill, Dicks, or XXX Root Beer in Issaquah. My wife had the veal ravioli, and said it was really tasty. The drink selection was a liitle small, but they carry bottles of Coca-Cola with sugar-cane rather than HFCS, and I was quite happy with that. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was awesome as always. Again, I highly recommend this place.

For Burien this place gets a bonus star. 6 Stars. Frank the owner is golden and he hires golden people. Try the burger on your 1st visit. Best burger in the area by far. 913 next door is where the cocktails flow. Great wines and gelato too. Get in there people and eat.

Every time I stay near SeaTac airport I always make it a point to get up a bit earlier that I normally would so as I don't miss breakfast. (I'm a late sleeper.) Breakfast is only served until noon and I always get the amazing pancakes with a coffee. My fiance got a sort of potato/sweet potato hash and it is SO good! It's hearty and the smell is so alluring. My pancakes (for about $1.50 more you can get REAL maple syrup) were sweet and succulent and quite filling for my birdlike size of a stomach. The staff are all bright eyed and very friendly. I feel like I'm a local each time I visit. I highly suggest you go off the beaten path into the little town of Burien for this place. Breakfast is served until noon and after that they serve their lunch menu (which is equally delicious!) Thanks 909 Coffee and Wine! I'll see you all next time I'm around!

Very cute neighborhood breakfast spot. The service was fast, coffee was GOOD and the breakfast was tasty. I had the SW 152nd Scramble- very good. I'd be a regular at this place if I lived in Seattle.

We sat outside in the beautiful patio area and enjoyed wonderful soup, salads and gelato. Monica served us and was so friendly and attentive which made the experience even more fun! A MUST go to quaint- yet trendy environment!

I have been to this little Ambaum Oasis a few times since recently relocating residences to Shorewood and was so excited to find such a classy and sophisticated establishment in the heart of Burien! The menu is awesome, I had the crab crepes with creamy tomato pepper sauce and it was so incredibly delicious, fresh and well prepared. The bruschetta was also delicious and just unique enough to set it apart and make it memorable from the traditional bruschetta. All the wines I have had there are great and the house red is really good, especially when purchased on happy hour pricing! My server, who helped me both times I have been here was amazing, she was friendly, attentive and just an over all delightful human being! They have an extensive wine menu with specials that rotate, as well as a wonderful happy hour from 4-6pm, discounts on both food and drinks. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and I love the cafe type decor they incorporated, making it feel like more than a coffee shop but not overly formal. I will definitely be a regular here, this place knocked my socks off, bravo!

Bummer, round two here and I got food with no silverware. Bread delivered well after my meal and subjected to horrendous music with no chatty bartender. Only a high school girl who sorts silverware behind the bar while I am eating. The fresh pasta special had nice flavors but the pasta itself did not actually taste fresh.

I went out for a girls night at this bar, due to reading good reviews. It certainly lived up to it! The three of us sat the the bar rail and shared 2 bottles of wine, the cheese platter and 3 delicious entrees. We were never pressured to be fast or order. Though we are 25 we are usually treated as such "young/dumb" customers (which bugs me) and we were never treated as such. Highly Recommend!

The ambiance is very nice, sort of like a Starbucks turned wine bar, and we sampled the "raviolis"of of the day, which was exceptional. Three cheese stuff, with little tomatoes and sausage slices. OUTSTANDING. But the whole experience was stiffled by our waiter, Elizabeth. She was unfriendly and indifferent. For the second time now that we've visited wine bar, we've been almost thrown the wine flight with no information. She told my fiancee "Here's your wine, its side to side top to bottom" and then scurried off. WTF? And by the way, there qas a total of four people in the whole establishment, so she wasn't pressed for time. If you are going to be a "wine bar" a LITTLE presentation is warranted. Its amazing how a place with great potential and turn into a bad experience all because of a dullard waitstaff.

Fun, casual, different without being pretentious. We had a "baby shower brunch" here a couple of weeks ago, since my friend isn't really the shower type. (that just means opening presents while having breakfast). The place was packed at 10am on a Saturday but we only had to wait a few minutes for a table to open up- seems lots of people are there for the counter service. The breakfast specials looked so good - frittatas and sausage and stratas, oh my! I got the very last of that day's stratas - sausage, tomato & mozarella with asparagus. Everything on our table looked delicious - but I was so sad to hear they were out of cinnamon rolls. That would have been the perfect breakfast topper. Cute neighborhood, tucked away in the Burien that nobody knows about. Parking was tough, but worth it to park a few blocks away. If I find myself down south again, I'd definitely eat here again!

Thanks again Yelp! We were looking for something relatively close to the airport, but wanted a nice breakfast - we scored! 909 Coffee and Wine was delish! Nice refurbed neighborhood with shops and such. Very nice place, super cool patio (from what we could see). Very friendly service and excellent food! Check it out! Also, lunches started coming out before we left - they looked really good too.

My husband and I frequently visit this restaurant. It is great for breakfast and for dinner. Great wine selection. Very nice atmosphere. Frank, the owner, always stops by to say "hi". Great coffee and they also have soy milk. Staff is very friendly too.

Went once during their Happy Hour. It was o.k. if you like that sort of Northern California wine country feel. It reminded me of lots.of bars or cafes in the Napa Valley. Just not my glass of wine, if you get my drift.

In Burien or travelling to SEA-TAC? I stopped here for brunch. My brother and his friend had the 909 breakfast and I highly recommend the quiche of the day. I really enjoyed the cappuccino, ambiance, and great staff! I wish I lived closer because I was tempted to indulge in their wine and beer selection!

Had a good breakfast here this morning. Arrived about quarter after eight (on a Thursday), and the place was already hopping. The (drip) coffee was decent, if not as strong as I like. As a bonus, they had heavy cream to put in it. As others have mentioned, they have lever-pull espresso machine which the staff clearly know how to operate. Next time, I'd probably go with espresso over drip. We started with a slice of the housemade blueberry coffeecake -- excellent, moist inside with a nice crisp top. I went with the quiche as the main part of my meal, which honestly is one of the best I've had, in France or anywhere. The crust was flaky and crisp. The egg was a melt-y, custard consistency with just the right amount of sharp cheddar to give it a bite. The fillings were well integrated, but not overwhelming. My husband had the cave-man hash, which the waitress recommended. The poached eggs were perfectly prepared. The sausage pieces were well-browned and quite tasty. The mushrooms were beautifully sauteed. Unfortunately, the majority of the hash, the cubed yams, were cooked on the "dente" side of "al dente". They were warm, but otherwise would have been more appropriate for a salad than a hash. It really didn't work as a dish, and Hubby had to rummage through the yams bits to find the sausage and mushroom pieces. Our first waitress was great. Halfway through, another waitress came on who had a very different style. The first time she came to our table, she sort of crept up behind Hubby, lightly touched him, and practically whispered in his ear asking if he wanted more coffee. Really odd. I'm not sure if that's her shtick, or if she's losing her voice, but it felt quite odd. All in all, 909 gets a solid thumbs up. I just wouldn't order the hash next time...

Very pleasantly surprised to find this in Buren. The olive oil and vinegar were a nice free appetizer. My friend had the red snapper for 19, which was a sizable portion of a very nicely crafted dish: delicate creamy sauce, polices And .meltingly delicious fingerling potatoes underneath. I had the braised pork shank (22). It could have easily served two people, had a very tasty brown sauce, with some hearty white beans, and best of all: perfectly roasted carrots with a sweetness that played really nicely off the pork. The only fault was the green olive tapenade which aimed to be creative, and was rather interesting, but seemed superfluous and less well thought out than the other elements. The coffee afterwards was good. The space was also lively and warm, and the service was attentive. Will definitely come back!

My new favorite place. Connected to 513 next door. Awesome outdoor seating with fountains, heaters, and a louvered roof to keep it dry. Small but very select craft brew selection. Try anything and you won't be left wanting.

The Delightful Truth about the 909 / 913: My Burien peeps and I have never been disappointed by this place. There are 4 distinct reasons to go to the 909 / 913, so I will approach each separately: The Coffee: When you walk through the doors, you are greeted by friendly staff at the front counter where they impressively serve Cafe Umbria espresso from real Italian pressure machines by hand pull press. Beautifully executed and of consistently boisterous, good flavor. In the case sits a limited selection of pastries, but what is there - is of high quality. Brunch or lunch at the counter: You can saddle up to the beautiful granite countertop, or grab a simple table for a bite, and you will be impressed by the delicious egg dishes, -especially the quiche. Its casual, but nice. Kick back with a paper, magazine, sip the delicious coffee, savor the pastry or brunch items, have a glass of wine, -of which they offer a nice selection. The Dining Experience: At a certain hour, there is a bit of a shift where you are greeted and seated with cloth napkins. On a nice day, you can choose to be seated in the lovely outdoor patio area that beautifully adjoins the 909 (main restaurant side) to the 913 (bar side). The owners brilliantly acquired the business next door (formerly a nursery). The marriage added more dining space, a (much needed) full bar, and the courtyard which perfectly adjoins the two houses. The courtyard is picturesque, appointed with tile, outdoor heaters, fireplace, and a high fence that allows you to dine al fresco without being gawked at by passers by. The food is of generous portion and DELICIOUS. The Chicken and crab crepes are absolutely divine, in a creamy pesto sauce that does not out shine the egg in the crepe. The chicken romaine salad with lemon and garlic oil and parmesan is a perfect alternate Caesar salad (minus the anchovy and dijon). The roasted garlic, olive, goat cheese, nuts and arugula with balsamic appetizer plate is absolutely divine. Perfection. The bacon wrapped dates will both wow you and leave you craving more. The burger is incredible. One of the best around. 8oz of high quality American, "Kobe" style beef - with or without caramelized onions -is always juicy, deliciously perfectly cooked and absolutely amazing every time. The lamb meatballs (may have been a special?) were also incredible. A flavor explosion. The steak salad is adequate (not the best). The 913 Bar: It sits as a tiny guest house next to the 909. It is very small. I have seen home bars larger. Space is limited and so is the selection. However, what there is, is mostly top shelf. You can get an excellent hand crafted cocktail, martini, Manhattan or Scotch. It has a speakeasy vibe, and acts as the perfect antidote for the somewhat goody two-shoes feel of the rest of the place (dare I say Bellevue/Kirkland?...true Seattleites know what I mean here). There are two lovely and engaging bartenders. Both a man and a woman, both are late 20's or early 30-somethings. There is also an older male who is an unlikely bartender. A large, somewhat motley appearing, kind of awkward, "grape ape" of a guy who is skilled enough, -but out of place like a bull in a china cabinet at this place. They probably would do better without him. I would also suggest that they extend the bar hours so that you can have a cocktail during lunch hours (this is a mistake). The Truth is that we have never had a bad experience at this gorgeous spot that delivers surprisingly detailed, fine food and friendly, attentive service - superior hand crafted cocktails at a fair neighborhood affordable price. It is a gem that I highly recommend.

909 is an excellent dining experience for a small cost. You can expect something between a bistro & fine dining. It's not stuffy but still has class. Can be very romantic on a date. The food is fresh each day from scratch and the Chef's Frank & Chris are amazing. I could write a novel about the food here! The wine is wonderful and priced right. Try a wine flight! The coffee is Umbria and they make it right. The service has always been beyond perfect and find myself leaving 909 satisfied and thinking that all restaurants should be like this. Two things you must try, the Meatloaf is so good it shouldn't be called meatloaf. I call it Filet Mignon meatloaf. The wrap it in a piece of bacon and make their own BBQ sauce. Orgasmic! The other dish is the chicken crepes in a creamy pesto. Un-fricking believable! I forgot the chicken & risotto, nummy. Did I mention the Burger with Gorgonzola and a port sauce....? For desert the gelados are great and the Chocolate Turrine is to die for. My favorite place in the WORLD to eat a meal. I always leave blissful!

We were visiting my brother in Des Moines and trying to figure out a place for dinner and he said we should try this. We were absolutely blown away. We all shared the sausage appetizer with rosemary walnuts and it was excellent. I had crab-stuffed crepes with a red pepper/tomato sauce, my wife also had crepes but hers were stuffed with chicken and artichoke hearts with a basil pesto cream sauce. Both entrees were very good. My brother ordered the pasta special which was fettuccine with sausage and lamb in a very light but flavorful sauce and it was way beyond good. This little place is definitely very near the top of the best restaurants I've tried. The service was very attentive without being overbearing or intrusive. We will be back in Seattle in November and have already made reservations to eat there. Places like Elliot's are quite good but if you want truly superb and inventive food, go to 909.

Hello, yelpers! I went here with my bf about a week ago and the staff is so friendly! :) The coffee was beautiful. I really didn't know what to expect for the taste, I just wanted a leaf in my cup :P but it was really bitter... My bf liked it. But I just added lots of sugar and it tasted okay then. Other than that, I'd recommend coming here if you're nearby. :)

I went next door to 913 for a private party and the food was delicious! I had everything from beef sliders, potato wedges, marinated pork with corn avocado salad, shrimp, caprese salad, and grilled asparagus. Reminded me of dinners at the menderosa for Shizz. Outside had awesome heating lamps that kept me nice and cozy in my summer garb and service was on par. Looking forward to trying 909!

Ordered the "Caveman's Hash" which was largely yams (or other orange root vegetable). Service was spotty and always slow. You would think in a coffee house keeping your coffee full would be a priority...

Went this morning with a group of gals and my 8 month old. Despite living a mere three blocks away, I had never been because I didn't assume they were child-friendly. Boy, was I wrong. Our charming waiter immediately brought over a high chair and hung around until he could see that it would work for us. We were stopping off for coffee and a small bite before wedding dress shopping. I got the romaine hearts half salad with lemon garlic dressing. It was delightful. Lemony with garlic present but not overwhelming; fresh romaine, parmesan and some grated lemon zest over top. Loved it. The coffee was lovely as was the wait staff. The gentleman who waited on us was very granola-looking, but polite and friendly. And, like, real people friendly. Not "trying to be nice" friendly. I'm looking forward to going back. Intensely. They've got a Kobe burger on the menu for a reasonable $12.00. I've got my eye on it.

When did 152nd in Burien become the place to be? I'm old enough to remember when the feed store across the street was the one and only happening place... I digress. Found this little coffee/wine/dinner/lunch place thanks to yelp. The lattes both times were great. Dessert very good. Had the gelato the first time. I recommend the esoteric rice gelato. Second time I had the fruit crisp, which was also good. The lunch and dinner menu also looked yummy. Service was good both times.

909 used to be three or four stars for me, but recent experiences suggest portion sizes are shrinking to the point where the value of the food is dropping. About a week ago we ordered the crab crepes, which was a tiny meal and sauced to the point of overwhelming what small amount of crab was tucked inside. The quality of the other dishes was average, not wonderful. The service was more novice than professional as well. Also, we made an advance reservation and I wish I had asked for the patio. Should they have offered that option during the call? I tend to think so. So, it was not a bad experience, just not a great one. It's a nice venue for a meal, but I think I will only be going if someone else wants to meet me there. Maybe later reviews will change my mind - I hope so.

My family and I love this place! I have yet to have a bad meal and I hope it never happens because we go quite frequently. This is a family friendly restaurant where the parents can enjoy a lovely glass of wine while the children can eat something yummy off the kids menu (my son prefers the white cheddar panini- aka 'grill cheese' ). They have music on Saturday nights and the place often fills up quick so I recommend getting there early. On the weekends a reservation would be your best bet.

Love the setting, went there early mid-week morning. I had the daily frittata which was very good. A little thin in comparison to frittatas I've had elsewhere but still very good. My co-diner had the pesto Benedict also very delicious. The dishes we had were on the smaller side but I saw another patrons dish that looked very filling! Service wad good, coffee was good. Very cute clean environment!

I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this yet. Started exploring restaurants in Burien earlier this year, and although there are lots of good places, this happens to be my favorite. I've been there with friends, on dates, and took the parents there too. I've tried a lot of things from the menu, and been pretty pleased with all of them. Besides not being a particular fan of the bread they bring to the table or the potato chips they serve with the sandwiches, I've found the chicken crepes, the osso buco, a few of the sandwiches, and a few of the pastas all to be excellent. I tried a bite of their special ravioli of the day recently (butternut with bacon and some vague cause I forgot the description cream sauce ...sure how could that not be good?) and I think it might be the best pasta I've ever had, they have some talented cooking going on back there. Service can be a bit casual, but it's friendly, and they don't mind if you linger. I do forget it's somewhat of a coffee shop too right? Reports from co-diners say they are pleased with the coffee drinks. I've only had the drip coffee and it's good. They have different house wines every time I've been in, and I've been really pleased with the few I've tried, as well as with their regular wine menu. The kicker that gives this place my *favorite restaurant* award is their desserts. Brownie sundae is ...well let's just say they make a very very good one. My parents ordered a cobbler they didn't like as they said the blueberries weren't very juicy, but I have tried a few different things and liked them all. I NEVER find places that can hit every area like this. Bonus points that they have their menu and wine list online. Did eat in the next door at their recently opened full bar restaurant 913, the "place next door"(limited table, much louder, good drinks) but didn't try the patio are in between the two buildings yet. It is the same menu. I guess that's enough flattering things to say about one place, so I'll wind this up.

I haven't been here in a grip, but seeing the name on Yelp helped me summon up the good memories that I've had in this place. They make a sumptuous cup of coffee, complete with some nifty designs in the foam. Their breakfast, while lacking some hearty meat options, is delicious. The frittata was delicious and filling. Their yogurt, granola and fruit bowl was approved even by my eight year old. The hash, though? That's were it's at, but admittedly, I'm an unabashed hash lover. Also, they have huge, amazing chocolate chip cookies. Go there. It's a bit off the beaten path as far as coffee shops go, but it's worth it just so that you can sit there and take all of the wonderful smells in.

You know that one piece of clothing you have that goes with everything? You can dress it up or dress it down, and you always feel good wearing it. That's what this place is like. The atmosphere is warm and a little bit elegant, but comfortable and unpretentious. I'd be just as home sitting here sipping coffee and reading the paper as I would on a date night. To accommodate either scenario, there are coffee and pastries as well as beer, wine, and an incredibly delicious and reasonably priced lunch and dinner menu. We sampled the day's special (ravioli with bleu cheese, shallots, and deeelicious wine sauce) as well as the pesto chicken crepe and both were so tasty that we were literally sopping up every last drop of sauce with our (second) order of yummy artisan bread. Not many Seattleites make it out to Burien without good reason - now you have that reason!

The 909 is my favorite place to go in Burien when I'm there to visit family. While they can have the occasional miss, the food is delicious almost every time, and the coffee is really good, never burnt, and they are great at making those pretty designs in the foam. I recommend: 1. The scrambled egg panini. The eggs are really fluffy. Their other breakfast items are also really good. 2. Basil Pesto Pasta 3. Chicken Crepes, the first thing I ever tried at the 909 and the reason I was happy to return 4. The specials. This place always has great specials. I do not recommend: 1. The Beef and Blue salad. This steak salad just doesn't do it for me. I don't like the combination of ingredients, and the steak is chewy/gristly. In addition, I like this restaurant's ambiance. The wait-staff and baristas are friendly and natural, not too business-like, not too flaky, not too overbearing. They never make you feel rushed, even if the place is packed. I like the lighting, the layout, and the art on the walls. There is a little fireplace with two armchairs in back which is a nice place to sit, and they have outdoor seating in the summer.

I've never actually dined here, but it's on my flight path so I stop by once a week or so for "my drink" (12 oz double mocha). Big props for serving Umbria coffee. Delish, never fails me. It takes a bit longer for "good" coffee vs. a generic Starbucks draw, so this is not for the impatient. The lunch menu looks tasty, I can't wait to go back and see what kind of magic they have going on in the kitchen.

I was visiting friends last night ( November 11th, 2009 ) and we got to 909 at about 9:15 p.m. My first impressions were that we were in a coffee shop. I figured we were going to have coffee and a bagel or something. What I ended up having was simply one of the best hamburgers I have ever had in my life. Seriously. I'm a 53 year old guy who has had a lot of hamburgers in my day. Service was good, food came our promptly, and the burger was rockin' perfect. Juicy, flavorful, done exactly as I requested it. Price was low and that is that. My friends both had the duck which they both seemed to enjoy. What's not to like?

Okay, so the wife and I decided to check out the 909 last night for dinner. Boy am I glad we did...it was awesome! We arrived at about 6:30 and the place was busy but not crowded. We were greeted immediately and seated, the hostess brought waters immediately. We had a few minutes to peruse the menus before our waitress came by to introduce herself and ask if we needed any drinks. She went through the specials and soups with us and left us to make our decisions. My wife immediately picked out the Braised Rabbit (approx $15) from the specials menu, I went for the American Kobe Beef Burger (approx $12) that I saw some rave reviews for. We put our menus down and within a minute our waitress was back to ask if we were ready to order. Dinner arrived within a reasonable amount of time, and the smells were amazing. The Braised Rabbit was on a bed of fettucini and the burger patty was about an inch and a half thick. Both were perfectly cooked. The Rabbit was mind bogglingly good (be warned rabbit is gamey, and if you don't like gamey meats you may not like it), tender, juicy, falling off the bone and perfectly seasoned. The burger was equally as good and more than matched up to the reviews I have seen on here. For dessert we went with the special, a homemade Tiramisu that was excellent. The cream was a tiny bit sweet for our taste but, not so much so that it in any way detracted from the dessert itself. In summary: The wait staff was attentive without being overbearing or making you feel rushed and the food was fabulous. The only thing that keeps me from giving this five stars is that the overall atmosphere is a little lacking in my opinion. Still, a great place for a date or a dinner with the family! I just wish I had remembered to snap some pics for you before I scarfed down all the delicious goodness. Next time, and there will definitely be a next time.

I had dinner here with friends and it was very nice. Friendly staff, good food and a fun atmosphere. I had the Kobe beef burger that knocked my socks off! They are also open for breakfast and lunch and I plan to go back. Prices are reasonable.

This was a fun place with good food. The place is a laid back mix between a coffee shop and a sit-in dinner. The food was good, the wait staff was great, and the atmosphere was A+. I thought the concept of the restaurant was great. Some people came to sit and drink coffee, some took their coffee to go, some come grab a drink at the bar, and some come in for a full sit down service. I came for early for breakfast. I sat down had a macchiato and finished some work while I waited for a friend. A half hour later and couple of spreadsheets later, I was ready to transition from work and coffee to breakfast with a friend. I had the smoked salmon panini, which was wonderful. The meal was light and not overly greasy. Unlike most breakfast places, I did not feel overloaded after I ate. This was a nice leisurely start to my morning. I will definitely come by again.

909 Coffee and Wine has become one of our favorite restaurants in all of Seattle. We've been there many times, and never been disappointed. Frank is an inventive chef, and the food emphasizes quality over quantity. The menu changes frequently based upon what's seasonal. The wine list isn't the largest, but they have a good selection of reasonably priced wines that should suit the taste of most anyone. The restaurant is small but has a nice ambiance and is located in a stretch of Olde Burien that is becoming a fun area. They hold regular wine dinners and Saturday nights feature jazz. We recently had dinner at Joule and my wife made a comment that 909 was better. We highly recommend you try it if you're in the area.

If you have ever asked yourself "where can I grab a cup of good coffee that is not a international chain and has a warm and inviting location?" then you found it at the 909. Cleverly named after their address on SW 152nd in Burien, the 909 has got to be one of my favorite places to meet the girlfriends for a glass of wine after work or a latte on the weekends. I have tried the salads and creeps... beware you might become addicted. to the crab crepe. I have heard they do live music nights and open a cute deck during the summer. This place is the adorable neighborhood wine & coffee bar you've been looking for. Bring a friend and book or relax, just be sure to check it out.

In a town with one main street, and essentially, one nice block and a couple of short strip malls, this place represents this quiet town nicely. Even if it was in a town with dozens of good restaurants, this place would still hold it's own. The portions were perfect. Not your typical American size where you finish your whole portion and feel stuffed. And the food was fresh, well prepared, and presented well. Nothing I had really stood out as too unique, but it was all good and well executed. Actually, I do take it back - the chocolate chip cookie was huge. I ended up nibbling on it from lunch and didn't finish it until late that night. Very good. If the rest of their baked goods are like that, bravo!

this is the type of restaurant you wish you bought and owned yourself. The cafe is great with nice coffees and quality pastries. But it's the dinner, wine and cocktails that keep me coming back. The food is innovative, flavorful and biased toward the healthy. The staff are super, obviously happy to be there and engaging with the community of repeat customers. The outdoor patio can't be beat with the mass of propane heaters pushing down a warm breeze on diners, keeping the outdoor seating comfortable year-round.

I was meeting some friends in the area, and they suggested we meet up at 909 Coffee and Wine because it is their favorite place in town. It was a really nice and busy place, with a very creative menu and great service with a laid-back atmosphere. I had the SW 152nd Scramble and it was delicious! Endless cups of coffee over great conversation, cool background music and time with wonderful new friends and I was a happy diner!

The 909 is a great little place that I hope is a picture of what more of Burien will look like soon. I usually will get breakfast and coffee when I go in and it is always delicious. The people, food, and coffee are always great in the morning. It's always a good choice for a breakfast meeting or a start to your day.

Beer flights! For only $5.50! I love any place that has any kind of flights. Very cozy atmosphere with friendly service. Can't wait to come back and try some of the yummy looking food I saw coming out of the kitchen.

This place is great! And worth it, whether you're popping in after soccer practice or you're just randomly in Burien and looking for a little nugget of goodness. I like the 909. DECOR: Check out the paintjob when you get here: light & bright up front, toning to cozy & warm in the back. Out front: tables for those sunny days & big windows that allow great light to stream in. In back: a nice fireplace & beautiful bar for sampling wines. The decor mirrors the focus of the 909: coffee/morning goodness when appropriate, wine/cozy when you're looking for that. THE MENU: I've never been disappointed in the quality of what I ordered. Great coffee, tasty pastries. The hot breakfasts look fantastic, but as I'm always here when I'm short on time, I've never had a chance to indulge. I'm excited to know that if for some reason I'm ever in Burien during socially-acceptable-wine-drinking-hours (aka, EVENING) - I'll have a place to go. The dinner menu looks great! And the wine list is interesting! SERVICE: The servers/staff are nice. Really nice. They're real. They obviously care. This is good. It's also good to know that at the 909, things happen at a Burien-like pace. Slow, that is...but. Come on. Do you really care? This is not Starbucks. This is not the drive-through. Slow down a little bit and enjoy! After all, when people are friendly and kind and you can tell that they're working hard - can you really get angry? Do you want to be that fidgety-cranky-pants whose panties are all in a twist because you just can't live for another second without your friggin Americano? No. You need to calm it down, sister, and just enjoy yourself. Love the 909, because they love you! OVERALL: It's thrilling to know that a spot like this is making it happen in Burien!

Great little coffee/wine/dining place in the middle of Burien. It has a cozy section in the back with a fireplace but the front room is nice and bright for the occassional sunny days. I had the beef salad and it was tasy. My husband had the grilled veggie salad with chicken and it looked like a great light lunch fare. The servers were very nice too. I might swing by one of the Saturday nights for some live music.

Very nice environment, nice staff and delicious lunch. The coffee was also delicious and beautifully made, though because I'm not supposed to be drinking it anymore, i had only a few sips of mine. We had a generous sandwich and a very tasty warm salad.. Both very satisfying, If there were more choices on the menu for my limited diet, I would be a regular.

Fast friendly service. Greeted at the door, order taken expediently, got my order and was on my way in a matter of minutes. Granted it was just a drip coffee, but it was fresh and definitely quality coffee. I'd stop in here again.

A wretched hive of scum and villainy with delicious pastries and strong drip coffee. Needs a heavy metal happy hour.

I hit this place just right, it was the Monthly flight of wine night. Perfecto! Awesome wine, and yes, blue cheese dressing for my salad, nummy nummy nummy. Bartenders and servers chatted with me as my partners in crime drifted away, and look whos here, more friends of friends came in later for From what I'm told reasonably priced beer too! AWESOME! another place I need for dates, keep it in the black people.

Good food, attentive service, and nice yet casual decor. I had a seasonal green salad with goat cheese, walnuts, and kalimata olives to start. It was very good, and I only had two minor gripes: the red wine vinaigrette seemed a little plain, and I think the walnuts should have been toasted a bit. My chicken crepes with pesto cream sauce was excellent, though a little small for $10.50 in my opinion. I will certainly return here in the future. 909 struck me as a good place to take like-minded people who don't care for generic, Olive Garden-style chain food when you don't want to make the trek all the way into Seattle.

I really wanted to like this place based on the other reviews, but... I ordered the Washington red wine flight, duck prosciutto appetizer and the evening's 909 pasta special (lamb meatballs, linguine). The waitress took my order standing with a dirty plate from the table next door in her hands. The duck prosciutto arrived: six meager slices of prosciutto, a small slice of Oregonzola cheese, figs (reconstituted dehydrated even though figs are in season now), a smear of honey and six pieces of sesame-crusted bread, lightly toasted. It was good if unremarkable. I finished the appetizer with no sign of the wine which the waitress forgot. After reminding her, the wine flight arrived. The wrong flight. I was given the flight of "international reds", but thought "what the heck" and tasted them. The first, a 2007 Valpolicella was fruity and nice. The second was unremarkable and flat. The third (a 2005 Cotes du Rhone) was heady with ethanol and completely undrinkable. (I was comped the wine at the end of the meal.) The 909 pasta special with lamb meatballs: the linguine appeared to be freshly made and the sauce was delicious. The three lamb meatballs were enormous masses of ground lamb with little seasoning. Edible, but not moist or particularly flavorful. All together a ho-hum meal with some misses for about $40 (overgenerous tip included). Not a rerun with so many restaurants to choose from. Perhaps it was an off-night for the waitress or the cook or whatever, but since it was my first visit, it was also my last visit. Regrets.

Really, what's not to like?I had my third visit to 909 last night and have not been disappointed yet! the menu selections are always amazing! It is hard to narrow down your selection so be forewarned. I started with the Seasonal Citrus Salad w candied hazelnuts, seasonal greens a shave of parmesan and a light citrus vinaigrette, it was the perfect choice! I have had the chicken crepes and the crab cakes- both so rich and full of flavor! I had been waiting to get bake and order the crab cakes again. I was glad I did! My husband went with his usual choice, a filet, and it was hands down one of the best he's had. he loves his Romaine hearts salad with chunky bleu cheese dressing. So many times at the end of a delicious meal the coffee is such a let down but not so at 909. They brewed a fresh pot of decaf just for us and it was so rich and full bodied along side of the Meyers lemon cake which is cooked in a custard cup and upon serving is flipped over and the lemon custard oozes over the thin layer of sponge cake. It's finished w a dollop of whipped cream!!! I would go back just for that alone! Wendy, our server, was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. She made it a pleasurable dining experience with her "checking back just at the right time" service! Oh, did I mention they have a lovely fireplace toward the back of the restaurant and on a chilly night it's warmth and coziness make for such great ambience Unfortunately, we left our credit card there last night and we live 45 minutes away. Fortunately, we won't mind the drive at all knowing we'll get an opportunity to enjoy another great meal at 909!!

Must try! Even if its just for coffee and scones both are to die for! The staff is very friendly and warm. I go 2+ times a week and have had almost everything on the menu for lunch and most of the dinners. The crepes and sandwiches you cant go wrong. The new addition of the burger adds a more "manly" option for bigger appetites. The soups are always good but need salt and pepper. I have also had the cheese plate and wine, the cheese plate is kind of weird and has a bunch of random things on it not just cheese. I like it but don't love it. On weekends they have live music and its nice but loud because the place is kind of small. The 909 is a win-win for any occasion; girls night, date night, grab and go coffee, day business meetings, or birthday party.

We've now been more than once (and we think that more than once is usually necessary to give a place a fair shake) and the consensus is, "We Like It." This is another move away from the dullness that was once Burien. They are open in the morning with breakfast ideas (but not for us as we don't like moving away from the home office until later in the day) and the reports are that they have good pastries and quiches... but don't depend on us for that. We go in the evenings. On Thursdays they do wine tastings with great prices on bottles and glasses for the wines they are pushing for the evening. They are very eclectic with their choices and you have the opportunity to sample wines from Spain, Italy, France, etc.... without having your credit card get crumpled in the melee... It is a limited menu. I like that for these smaller places. They know how to do a couple of items very, very well. My lovely companion and wife ordered the crab crepes on our first try there.... and that has been her order every time. I have been willing to try a few other things. I thought their short ribs were outstanding, the rabbit loin on polenta was delish and their pork tenderloin was also sauced beautifully. One should give their bruschetta a try... the last time they had a warm pear topping that was too delicious. On Saturday evenings they start a live jazz group at 9:00.... and that is when the lights used to go out in Burien. The lights now stay on a bit longer and the activities from the revitalized Olde Burien are helping more folks to think about staying closer to home. I don't know why I didn't give it five stars.... It is truly a fun place... they just don't quite have all the ambience done yet....

One of our absolute favorites for dinner. Fairly light bites with enough variety to put together different combinations each time we go (almost every week). Excellent wine menu; and there is always someone available to make a good recommendation. The flights are great values and make it fun to pair. Very friendly servers and the chef/owner is also very visible. We are always greeted warmly and are assured to have a positive experience.

For the price and quality of food in this small town community this is the best place to go for breakfast, lunch or dinner! You pay less than half the price for what you'd pay downtown and it is always good food, great wine list and good beer on tap. Love this place and the latte's are to die for when made by Corie or Emily. I am a fan for life and go at least once a week for any of the meals they are willing and able to serve me. ;)

I work in Burien and this is my favorite place to go for a good lunch. They always offer great service and they understand that I have to be back to work on time! If someone asks for a good place to eat in Burien this is the first place I recommend.

Love this place. Love the people. Love the food. Love the wine. YUM! i would give it five stars, but ONE time, my food was kinda weird and seemed like it was microwaved... piping hot in the middle. but i still go a lot.

Very classy bistro/coffee bar with a well prepared menu. Prices are reasonable and service was impeccable. I had the chicken crepes which were very tasty and my husband had the burger and thoroughly enjoyed that too. I would stop in more often if I lived closer to 909!
