Love love love this place, they have a wonderful happy hour that goes until 7. The food is amazing and seems to change every so often to keep things interesting. The bacon wrapped dates are to die for. So amazing. Their panini sandwiches are all amazing. Their cheese boards are on the smaller side but a great price for happy hour with a bottle of wine. I like that they have two spaces you can choose to sit. One side is a little more intimate than the other. I love coming back to this place.

I had this amazing old little apartment in downtown Bellingham years ago - it was a sanctuary for me, and an included perk was that it was located around the corner from Temple Bar. At that time, I was in a haze after a year of drama and in desparate need for the world to stop spinning. I felt grounded in their wooden booths eating small plates and drinking wine. The tingly feeling of the real me being present in real life. The hot stuffed dates will snap a girl into reality any day of the week! I highly suggest them or the goat cheese toasts. Perfectly baked baguettes with butter and a cheese plate with all the fixins... It'll pass the hours and you'll never want to leave. (There's an everything plate too, generous for the price of around 14$) The wines and beer rotate so I won't quote anything specific as it's been tooooo long since I've been in (I'm coming for ya in July Temple Bar, save me a seat!) but I'll say they always have something French or Italian by the glass that is delicious. The buyer has a good nose and a solid palate. The Happy Hour is amazing. A bottle of wine with a little cheese plate, or a growler with the same. The cocktails are notable too. I'm homesick now. Thoroughly.

I love the Temple Bar, and go regularly with my girlfriends to 'worship' on a Sunday. ;-) Laid-back atmosphere with unique eats and original cocktails. The salads are always great... but my favorite snack is the 'hot stuffed dates'. Get a 'Super G&T' if you'd like to visit citrus-y cocktail heaven. The French 75 is nice too... really you can't go wrong. My wine loving friends are always pleased with the choices. The Temple is a great place to grab a drink, and/or a light dinner and enjoy the company of friends. Located downtown, across from the Pickford Cinema, it's a good pre- or post- movie hangout as well.

Atmosphere is great but maybe a bit too loud. Waitresses are very friendly and easy on the eyes. I'm giving two stars because we had a table of six and the waitress took our order and wrote nothing down. Then I asked her if she was able to remember all this she confidently said "no problem, I got it" like she was showing off. Then we waited an hour for our food, which they brought out one meal at a time. None of us really ate together because it was taking so long for each entree. When my wife and my other friend never got their meals it turned out she forgot to enter in their meals BECAUSE SHE NEVER WROTE IT DOWN IN THE FIRST PLACE. She acted like it was no big deal even though I had just asked how she would remember it all. So then we had to wait quite a while for their food to get made. The food wasn't even that great. Portions are on the small side. And I'm not one of those super picky people. I would not eat here again. I'm new to Bellingham and hope there are some decent restaurants up here. This one was definitely not.

I've checked out the Temple Bar a few times now...they have a nice, romantic ambiance and super helpful/friendly service. Happy Hour is the time to go, where you can enjoy an entire bottle of good wine and an appy for just $18. They also have a similar beer-lover's deal, as well as a couple of other happy hour specials. Their specialty drink menu is also interesting. Recently I tried the "Windsor" which tasted a little bit like a pecan pie (in a good way). Their goat cheese toasts are also one of my favorite appy's in town (it's hard to just eat one plate of them). Parking is kind of a hassle in this area, though. Someday the City might get smart and get rid of those pesky parking meters so we can all enjoy places like the Temple Bar more often!

This place is a hidden gem. We had the cheese plate -- fantastic -- a sandwich and then went for the deserts and coffee. All of them extremely well done. The ambience is great, the music is not too loud, the lights not too bright, very relaxed and friendly. A must try.

  • Jennifer B.

Cute little place. Music is a bit loud, which means conversations are louder. That said, it's a cosy vibe. Nice selections for charcuterie, and cheese plate. Also a nice selection of veg options that aren't salad. $6-10 for small plates, $9-14 for salads, large plates, and entrees. Small but thoughtful list of craft cocktails, wines by glass & bottle, beer & cider. Also decent selection for coffee and tea. They focus on locally sourced goods. I will be back to try dessert!

I stumbled in there sporting a severe neck ache. Patience was in short supply as my pain was increasing rapidly. Thank God my server delivered wham bam thank you ma'am just like I wanted it. I asked for a glass of ice water while I waited and had to request a second time but this was at 5 o'clock on a Saturday they were filling up. as soon as I walk through the door I asked to order to go and for any suggestions for comfort food. the waitress was very beautiful but I didn't hold that against her because she was very sweet and friendly. between the two of us I decided on stuffed dates wrapped with pancetta. The date compilation carmelized nicely. That ricotta stuffing balance nicely with the sweet date. There was a hint of acid making for an interesting app. Pesto, pear and pancetta in a gruyere grilled cheese sandwich on rye bread put an eclectic twist that really works on the old grilled cheese of my youth. I popped one date in on the ride home as a salve for my pain... It worked. I indulge myself with a sampling of my bounty several hours later. It was very flavorful cold. The grilled rye sandwich tasted great and the dates were to die for! The menu intimated that they have a severely serious mixologist so their 7 days a week happy hour is a plus. I was not familiar with a number of the ingredients in their cocktails... If I hadn't already had an ice pick in my brain I have been easily coaxed into eliminating a few more grey cells. I mean the drinks were really incredibly alluring. The one problem with the cold pancetta wrapped dates is that the pancetta was tough and stringy. Perhaps they need a fattier or thicker cut aged meat

My boyfriend and I had the best valentines day here! The staff was kind and the food was amazing. We even had leftovers to take home afterwards! This is my new favorite restaurant/bar in Bellingham. I have NO complaints.

Came in to kill some time during their happy hour. Their Fenrir paired with a prosciutto apple bleu cheese paired to be a lovely match. Finished off with a Deep South and another hand pie.

I am coming back to Bellingham after a bit of a sabbatical and I thought I'd stop by one of my old faves. This place is more wonderful than ever. I've always thought of it as that place where all the people you never knew existed come out of from their persian rugs and velvet smoking jackets and put on their fancy spectacles to enjoy a good drink and some good company. Where have they been hiding all that classy intelligence and panache? I'm glad this place exists to give them a platform for displaying their awesomeness. Notably, at my latest visit, we sat at the bar, and due to our inquisition on the art of bar tending, the bartender gave us a sample of his own version of the Seaworthy. In my opinion, it was an exceptionally well-made drink (which should replace the current recipe). It's fantastic to see that the people who work here actually take an interest in what they do. Bring me more craft cocktails! You're the craftiest in town... My only question...do they still do Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School? I'm desperately interested in that.

I went to Temple Bar with two of my friends tonight. We were hungry, saw the pictures online, it was close, so we decided to give it a try. Best. Decision. Ever. I had the Butter Bean thingy ma-jigger, one of my friends had the Chicken Shwarma, and the other had the Gratin du Jour. We couldn't get enough. Even when we had stuffed ourselves to the brim with our entrees we still made room for the Coconut Cake and the Bailey's Chocolate Torte. Best decision in a long time. SOOOO good. I highly recommend! And the prices weren't outrageous either!

I love there drink menu! Delicious and refreshing. The small dishes were great, too. We had the goat cheese toasts & stuffed dates. Awesome! Atmosphere is mellow while still being hip & refreshing.

Ordered the tuna sandwich menu listed all the ingredients except the ingredient I'm allergic to, cappers!! Why bother listing all the ingredients, but one. They even listed mayonnaise. Substituted it with gratin. It was served in a pool of melted butter...if you're looking for a heart attack try the gratin. My drink was good, but not great. I was deeply disappointed.

The Temple Bar is one of my "after work" experiences. It is quiet, sensuous, and unique enough to suit almost anyone's needs. Great cocktails, unique plates, and strong service render this establishment a strong contender in the Bellingham area. Evening specials are published on their Facebook page.

Really nice place to sit for a cocktail. I'm new in town and have very little bar experience, but enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere, thoughtful layout, and classic cocktail bar ambience. Waitstaff was super nice. The bar snack menu is pretty good.

  • Scarlett M.

Temple bar has a great menu, great wine, and great ambiance. Parking can be a bear at times, and finding seating can be a challenge, but it is worth it when you want a nice evening out with friends. Prices are great for what you are getting, but this higher end dining than your average restaurant. Disability alert: At first glance, this isn't the most wheelchair friendly place in town, but I am sure the staff would be more than willing to accommodate you.

    (4)
  • Marissa H.

It's a nice atmosphere with good drinks and some delicious foods and snacks, but it's a bit pricey, and the service is always pretty bad. The only way I've ever found to describe it is that it's almost like they think it's "cool" to be aloof and rude to customers. Maybe some people like that? If you feel like a tasty cheese plate or some deeelicious stuffed dates (seriously so good) and don't mind some snippy waitress treating you like a nuisance, then this is your place. Honestly though, I'd rather go somewhere that I can have a pleasant experience.

  • Kandace A.

This is always a great place to come if you want to drink some wine, have a few appetizers, and chat with friends. I always enjoy the atmosphere, service, and drinks. They have an amazing happy hour -- usually you can split a bottle of wine or champagne and get a cheese plate too! I came here for dinner once, and it was a little loud and cramped for not much more than the regular appetizers. I'll stick to drinks and appetizers from now on! Great place - love it.

    (4)
  • Amanda M.

This place has amazing cocktails, delicious food, good atmosphere and gets my vote for the best happy hour in Bellingham. The only bad part about coming here is the service. I have been here many times and it is always super slow every time, even when they aren't busy. One time I even had to leave because we had been waiting at our table for 20 minutes and no one had even acknowledged us... But I'll still be coming back because the happy hour here is too good to pass up.

    (4)
  • Lisa F.

If you want an intimate, warm and cozy place to get a drink and have some appetizers, this is it! We got the warm blue cheese dip plate, olives and grill cheese. Everything was spectacular. Especially the blue cheese dip. Going back for more soon!

Amazing cocktails, good happy hour deals, beautiful space.

  • Willis O.

I can sum up my experience and everything about this place with Meh. It may come off as pretentious, but that's probably just residual pretentiousness left over from the balding bartender who had to bring me my food. I am from SE Portland and found the service here to be undeservedly snoody. The food was on late night (an unwelcome surprise), pretty bland. I had the tomato soup and grilled cheese. Drank a Monopolowa dirty martini because they were out of Kettle One. The one saving grace was a sweet server who tried to take my plate halfway through my meal. Will not be back. Boring atmosphere, so so food, and annoyed service.

Food is a solid 4.. but worst service we've ever had at a 1.

  • paul joseph b.

I'd give it 3 stars for food/drinks, and 1 for service. We've been there 4 or 5 times in the last five years, keep returning because we want to like it, not going frequently because we keep being disappointed. I can tolerate pretentious/distant/unfriendly service in sophisticated places, it frequently goes with the territory. But not in small, thankfully unprentious Bellingham, where friendly, informal service is the standard. Our salad was great, the drinks tried hard, but came up short, but it was the shoddy, distant, and clearly unfriendly service which moved me to write this critical review. We'll have a very hard time justifying returning to The Temple Bar.

  • Rena J.

First time there, sat at the bar - bartender was "hesitantly friendly" is how I'd describe him. Second time there, sat outside before the dinner rush so they weren't that busy. The same bartender was my server again and I don't think I've ever been waited on with such aloofness and disinterest. Not once was I asked how things were going after ordering food and a drink. Maybe those who come in by themselves are considered a waste of time. Just before finishing, a female server came on duty and spent so much time chatting with parties of two or more that she forgot I had asked for my bill. I'd give it a one star, but the food was pretty good.

    (2)
  • Rick D.

Fun little place to meet up with friends and enjoy some live music. Their drink options are superior to most places around town, but the prices reflect that.

    (4)
  • J S.

This menu listed is 100% wrong and they're rude about it when you ask if their 5 item menu is "juts the bar menu"

    (1)
  • Klaus S.

One of my favorite places in town, but has a few rough edges. The cocktails are excellent, and though a bit spendy for Bellingham they're not outrageously priced. (If you want a cheaper, lower-quality drink there are endless choices elsewhere). Atmosphere is fantastic and reminds me quite a bit of San Francisco; think a cross between historic and modern/urban without being too hipster-y and pretentious. Food is very good but definitely leans toward light meal/appetizers rather than full dinners. Great (and affordable) drink/hors d'oeurve combos during happy hour. The persistent problem is service - during busy times (about 6:00 on, and assuming you can get a table) you are likely to wait a long time for both drink and food orders, especially after your first round. The staff is generally friendly and knowledgable, and attentive when the place isn't packed, so most of the issues stem from understaffing during peak periods. Still, it doesn't keep me from visiting on a regular basis.

A great place to meet up with friend for late night drinks. Best Happy hour in town. I just wished the Happy hour prices lasted into the evening :). I recommend the cheese plate!

  • Catherine Z.

Yet another place in Bellingham that's awesome in regards to drinks and atmosphere, but lacking in quality service. Admittedly, it's been much better the last couple of times I've been here, but I've had a few experiences where my group ordered things that literally never came. I've ordered food, and had the wrong item delivered. However, the food (if it ever shows up and is actually what you ordered) is fantastic. I recommend the stuffed dates! Definitely check it out, it's a great place...just don't go if you're in a hurry!

  • James T.

One of the best bars in Bellingham. The best atmosphere, excellent cocktails (the best I've had, really) and great food. I recommend the amish bleu cheese and prosciutto panini - delicious. One of the bartenders/servers, Will, always gave me the best service, and always excellent beverage suggestions.

    (5)
  • Luke S.

We went with a couple friends and got the happy hour cheese/wine special. Great wine but the cheese platter should be called bread with little to no cheese platter...couldn't even satisfy a full mouse.

I've been here a few times since moving to Bellingham and am always impressed. Really cool, cozy and classy ambiance, awesome cocktails and drink selection. Oh, and the bartenders are super awesome.

Funky, intimate, eclectic with a variety of classic cocktails and good food. A good place for a to get snacks if you want something to nibble on with your drink. The custom cocktails are sure to make anyone feel classy.

A great place for a first date or late night rendezvous. Styley without pretension. Great selection of upscale munchies and potent potablesfor the discerning palatte. Waitstaff knows the food well and takes pride in their fare. Eclectic clientele, but friendly.

I am TORN writing this review as I wanted to like this place from the moment I entered. Also, I only drank at this place and did not eat, but it was on a Saturday night, so you'd better bring your A game. Recommended by my fellow yelpers and a trustworthy bartender, touting a review that referenced Paris, I thought we couldn't go wrong. Bellied up to the bar slightly before the James Bond half tempo band went on. Visiting family, there's plenty of laundry to be aired with the stench and lubrication of alcohol. Properly we wanted to tie on and go all night. All night being until sun up, not 11:30p. I started with a Sam's Whiskey Sour on the happy hour menu, the right foot, usually. Sam may have liked it, but I couldn't have moved on fast enough to the next drink. Asked for a Hendrick's and Tonic (cucumber if they had it). No Hendricks, no cucumber. I asked for Tanqueray 10 and tonic, don't have that. T & T it is. Moving on to manhattans after reaching a dead end in the Gin department, I was struck by three flamboyant gentlemen who sat down near us at the end of the bar. One waitress made sure to tell the hardworking bartender that these we're important fellows to be taken care of. No problem, maybe one of these guys is a city councilmen spending a night on the town with the "girls" (their words, not mine). But after they drank their 2 champagne and oranges, without eating the orange, and promptly split, I wondered if all those "are you doing alright?" 's were worth it. My sister and I continued to drink and chat, sometimes with the bartender who couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. Another server in a cap and a newly minted tattoo was also delightful and chatty. Since it was still before midnight, we ordered up a Irish-French press, signaling that we we're gearing up for round two+. We mentioned that once the band had finished up that maybe we could move on from the half-tempo James Bond themes; anything else, just UPTEMPO PLEASE. Once the Tribe Called Quest came on and remained on, family agreed. 60bpm is not classy, boring, lame, old and not timeless, not consistent with the presented vibe AT ALL. The music killed it, and the atmosphere of the place changed to "We're all doing dishes, clearing tables, and hoping you all will cash out and go home." It was time to move on. We quickly grabbed our coats and hit the road, finishing our Irish-French press ASAP. So why would I never go back to this place? Why the 2 stars? What it says next to the 2 stars says it all, "Meh, I've experienced better." Moreover, when 2 people sitting at the bar are ready to spend $100 on drinks and all night at your "Parisian Bar", you have to recognize them and treat them right. I'm not looking for special treatment, but C'MON! I guess we didn't get pointed out by a waitress as being VIP like the aforementioned gentlemen, who spent less than $20 if they were even charged. WTF face. I have discussed this experience with a few different people, and like I said, I'm torn even writing this review. But they all respond the same way, "What would Chef Ramsay have said about it?" If The Temple Bar is looking to present an experience, 2 stars is my review. Taryn D. says, "Mega props for atmosphere!" I'm just not feeling it, nor tasting it.

My favorite place in Bellingham for a drink or a meal. Seriously! We were just in Bellingham for 4 days and we ate here 3 times. The West Champion sandwich is awesome, the cocktails are perfectly prepared and the Mediterranean Plate with a glass of rose at one of their sidewalk tables was one of the highlights of my week. I think the service, attention to detail and quality of the food and drinks can't be beat - especially in a spot that is so relaxed and fun.

    (5)
  • Taryn D.

Funky, intimate, and eclectic. Mega props for atmosphere! Food is pretty good, although not cheap. More of a place for a lite snack if you want something to nibble on with your drink. If you're hungry, I would go somewhere else first. Would love to see some more affordable options for cocktails...

  • Kath U.

Love this place! The cheese plate is awesome. Funky and unpretentious atmosphere & very relaxing. Coffee is good and they have great desserts. Jazz, little plates of great food and if you are into cocktails and wine you will have a very good selection to choose from. Service was a bit off when we were there but they were super busy so I am cutting them some slack! They were nice though despite being so busy. Wish it was a bit larger in size. Overall a great place to go.

Three women, footloose and fancy free, enjoyed cocktails and lunch here on a Friday afternoon when other places were closed. We were happy to find The Temple Bar. The service and food were just what we needed as we made our way from Seattle to Canada. What a darling little town! We enjoyed the shopping as well.

  • Sean L.

Definitely an eclectic bar to visit. The bar tenders are nice and they offer a fun drink selection. Lots of old school cocktails served in a relaxed atmosphere. Some nights they even have live music. There was a cool jazz ensemble performing the first time I visited that I really enjoyed.

This is a great place to go with a few friends. A great drink menu, classic styling and wonderful bar staff help make this place a great location to sit around and talk with a few of your best around a couple of great drinks.

While visiting Canada we had to make a run south of the border to take care of some business on American soil. (No, we're not banditos, but I kind of like that it makes me sound dangerous, until you read about the soup I ate....) So, we arrived in Bellingham and needed a place to eat and wet our whistles. Enter The Temple Bar. Quite simply: any bar that puts lavender in drinks and serves goat cheese toasts as a side is easy for me to love. They offer a great lunch prix fixe that includes a panino, olives or pickles, a side (soup for me!) and a drink (grapefruit fizz!). From what I could gather, they feature a soup du jour, and on this day, it was a cold soup that featured fruits and cardamom. I will never say no to cardamom, and this stance served me well at The Temple Bar. The soup was a henceforth unexperienced explosion of sweet and sour that I savored on the patio until the last drop. I am not sure how often they serve that soup, but whatever the soup may be, I say, "Get it!"

I can no longer ignore the bad service and attitude of the waitresses. My wife and I use to love grabbing some wine and light food for a nice summer late meal. But time again and again there was a problem with the food. Each time we complained it was treated as if it was our fault. We were not asking for refund or free food we just wanted the order to be correct. As a business owner I blame the owner. Her attitude is bad which sets the tone for the remaining staff. The atmosphere is great, the wine choices are wonderful, it just isn't worth it any more. Next time you are deciding where to go, grab a table at the Woods Coffee shop 20 feet away.

    (1)
  • Julie C.

A bar with no beer on tap does not a bar make. Limited selection of bottled beer for claiming to have a good selection. Service seemed to ignore us for several minutes before we had to ask if we needed seated (no sign to denote otherwise). Will not be going back.

$15 for a bottle of tasty wine and a freakin' awesome little cheese plate? I love this place! Our cheese plate had some local gouda and a soft garlicky goat cheese, some pistachios, mixed olives, 5 slices of warm baguette, and I'd say about half a sliced, juicy apple. It was amazing. We also had the Little Italy panini with pesto, tomato, and fresh mozz which was very good (but next time I want something with that gouda!) Side salad was just whatever. It wasn't bad at all, but it wasn't memorable. Our server was SUPER nice and explained everything to us newcomers with the patience of a saint. Plus, the ambiance was soooo pretty. Just an all-around comfortable, friendly place to grab some good food and a nice drink. 5 stars, Temple Bar! [Edit: Went there again this past Tuesday and had a grumpy not-nice waitress but then the nice one came in by the end, which was good because grumpy waitress made me sad. Good company and good food/wine made it all okay, though! My tongue was in heaven~]

Aftyer walking around "downtown" Bellingham for 40 minutes looking for a place to grab a glass of wine and a snack I found the Temple Bar, lucky me! This place is a great, unpretentious little wine bar with delicious antipasto plates, paninis, and salads. Great ambiance, friendly service, and I think they have live music some nights of the week. I sat at the bar that has about 6 seats, and there are not many tables. They have a special Tuesday- Sunday before 7pm $15 for a bottle of wine and a small cheese plate. Wines range from around $4-$9 a glass. A good find in Bellingham.

This place is uniquely NW and it is one of my favourite spots in Bellingham. No drunken college students, no buffets... just good food, drinks and atmosphere. I LOVE it.

    (5)
  • Matt S.

I can see myself coming back here from time to time; the food was good, though a bit spendy for a relatively small, light meal, but it had a lot of good vegetarian options and definitely has a focus on "real" food. It's definitely the pick of the litter among the bars and restaurants I've investigated in Bellingham thus far.

    (4)
  • Katie H.

The Sally Tomato is so good. A fancy bloody mary that comes in a martini glass (and there aren't any anchovies in it--no worcestershire by default!). I get it on the rocks so I'm not afraid of breaking the fancy glass. There aren't many vegan options for food, so far I've just had one of the antipasto plates on a date (it's a great place for dates!). The atmosphere is great, and it's warm inside on cold winter nights!

By far the best Manhattan in town... Mixed with the inviting, funky atmosphere one cannot go wrong in choosing Temple Bar for a classical cocktail with friends.

  • Tara C.

The Temple Bar is pretty much where it's at for Bellingham nightlife for me. It doesn't get more exciting than chilling in a nice atmosphere throwing back a few glasses of good wine or a uniquely delicious cocktail. The menu is limited, yet satisfying. The only thing that I'd change would be to add some couches/chairs as pews just aren't comfortable. If you haven't been....go.

  • Michaela L.

Classy and fun. A nice change from the usual Bellingham bar. For me, a little on the pricey side if you're not there for happy hour, but it's worth it for the ambiance and great atmosphere. Great original drinks -- the dark and stormy is my favorite. Nice, light menu to accompany. One of my favorite places in the 'Ham.

I think I used to like the Temple Bar more. Yeah, I did - back then the wait staff was a tad friendlier with lower overall hipster vibrations. I still love the look and feel of the interior - old wooden tables, a sort of Euro-cafe Bellingham-style. I also like that they now serve pretty delicious cocktails - mmm "Raindrop."

AMAZING. Best place in town to go for after dinner drinks, or a romantic light dinner. The happy hour is decent, and the food is awesome (try the grilled gouda garlic pannini!). The bartenders are always friendly (hard to find in this town), and make excellent reccomendations!

The Temple Bar is as if someone transplanted an intimate Parisian cafe and wine bar into our little city of Bellingham -- how lucky for us! The small space is filled with rich colors and wooden tables, and is dreamily lit after dark. It's a great place to bring a date, or if you're just looking for a mellow place to get a drink and have a conversation without loud music or an obnoxious crowd. The staff is quite friendly and knowledgeable if you're feeling indecisive. The chalkboards that boast their daily selections are well-described for anyone who isn't an expert on wine or beer. Their happy hour deal consists of a small cheese plate and bottle of wine for $15 and is available until 7 o'clock. If you're on a budget, I recommend sharing their jug/carafe of house red -- it's a good deal for a mere $11. Their concise menu offers a variety of tasty panini sandwiches, fresh salads, cheese and/or meat plates, and decadent desserts. Most of the selections are vegetarian/pescatarian (fish-eaters) friendly. If it's busy, prepare to wait for your food, as there's generally just one person on staff, and help yourself to the water jug.

This is my all time favorite happy hour. As the other yelpers have mentioned there is a phenomenal happy hour 4-7 of a small plate and bottle of wine for $15, but more importantly the bottles are always changing and always good. Funky atmosphere, classy staff. It doesn't get better than this.

Very urban- but quaint feeling bar. I love the vibe and selection of drinks and food. I truly enjoyed my happy hour here with girlfriends. Temple Bar is a go -to place for good conversation and good wine. I also heard a rumor that there is good happy hour at Temple Bar :)

Wowza the espresso here is great, I believe it's cafe vita from Seattle. The ambiance is relaxing, dark, and very new-age trendy. I'd say more of a wine and cocktail joint than a beer/shots venue. It's best to go in the evening for an aperatif or the cheese plate or perhaps after dinner for dessert and coffee. The crowd is mostly young, professionals or students. Very enjoyable, I love going here.

This place is totally adorable, lovely high ceilings, great northwest hippie/hipster ambiance, and excellent food and drink at a good price. If you're heading through Bellingham, this is a must visit.

LOVE THE TEMPLE BAR. HATE IT WHEN I CAN'T GET A SEAT. If you haven't been...you should go...but not when I am trying to find a seat in this tightly cramped dark and cozy cafe.

I worship at the Temple Bar. It is a gem of a place. It is one of the most perfect places to take your date on a sunny Saturday to enjoy the sidewalk patio. Indoors is great too. I would definitely take a visitor to town to the Temple Bar because it reflects rather subtly the quirkiness of the town. My only concern is that these folks can survive with the prices they charge (at happy hour anyway). It is almost too affordable - so I tithe generously!

Also love love love this place, just like another reviewer. Biggest complaint is how tiny it is. Other complaint is that I never know when they are closed - the last 3 times I have tried to go they have randomly been closed. (Are they closed on Mondays?) But they do not post their hours and days on the door. Whenever I have been able to go I have had the best experience. Its very kind of romantic, and perfect for when you want to catch up with a close friend. They don't have too much on their menu - but I like that. What they do have is really great. The warm bowl of pistachios is yummy, the cheese plate is also divine, and you can't go wrong with any of their wines.

It's funny - other people always think of Europe, but having never been there, I think of my trip to Cuba. It's a cozy, intimate setting that feels warm and relaxing to be in. Everything feels worn in like it's been around making people feel good for ages. The music always seems to be both soothing and interesting. The food selection is abbreviated, but everything is delicious - especially the paninis and the chocolate truffle cake from next door at the Mount Bakery. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful in selecting a wine for the indecisive (or in my case, those that don't know much other than liking Shiraz/Syrah.) Although it's fun to be there in the evening with the little table candles flickering, my favorite time is getting there when they open for lunch on a sunny afternoon, either in one of the window tables or outside.

love temple bar, don't get there often enough. i am always reminded of a little parisienne place tucked down a cobbled alley, weird enough and sophisticated enough and comfy enough to make it b'hams best kept "secret".

I love Temple Bar, and always spend my evenings out when I'm visiting my hometown there. Good wine selection, great price range, the food is great, doesn't have the bad pick up scene/frat party that the college kids have created in every other bar in downtown Bellingham. It feels a little cosmopolitan, and cozy and homey. Maybe too much for some, as the last time I was here some guy who believes this to be his home, and not a public bar, shushed me in the midst of my relaying a very exciting dog fight story I had experienced earlier that day. He was with a date, and smug enough to believe he was in the right, but maybe if they were enjoying themselves a little more it wouldn't matter that my friend and I were having an interesting, animated conversation. That was rude, guy, and you came across like a control freak. We moved tables and proceeded to have a really nice rest of the evening amongst other people enjoying themselves as well.

Super cute space! the selection of wine, food and drinks are great. Only thing stopping me from the 5th star is the service. It's been inconsistent. Sometimes I have really great servers and other times the waitress is a total snob. Definitely recommend it, though!

I am gonna have to go with Tiffany F...the hot waitstaff (and the one hairy short dude), always friendly service, always helpful, excellent food, love the atmosphere. It is the best place in bellingham and they have a kick arse happy hour to boot. Highly recommend!!

What can I say, but this town would be entirely dead without The Temple Bar. Best place to socialize with friends, great drinks, and great food. It's my local watering hole and I just have to limit how often I go there so nobody get's tired of me.

I really enjoy the Temple Bar, though maybe not as much as other people. The drinks are creative and strong, but the food selection is small. That's totally fine, I just have a tendency to frequent Happy Hours that have large food selection and this place doesn't. I don't really see where the title "Best Happy Hour in Bellingham" comes from when there aren't a ton of deals on drinks or food. That being said, the Temple Bar is a standby as far as Bellingham's craft cocktail culture is concerned. The food that I have had is tasty and the service is always great.

Temple Bar is a fantastic place to meet someone for conversation. Excellent atmosphere, tall ceilings, no loud music, old wooden tables & chairs and vintage decoration and fixtures throughout the place. Since it's good for conversation, that means it's a great place to take a date. It really seems the place is set up and maintained for customers to have a perfect environment for conversation + drinks. The menu is small and the cocktails are fancy, but you can't have good conversation with a bunch of food in your mouth or a bunch of cheep beers, so it all fits.
