Mi Mexico Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

We've eaten here many times over the last couple of years. There was a funny "gap" a couple of years back when things seemed to fall apart -- and perhaps this accounts for the couple of reviewers who gave Mi Mexico a poor rating. Overall, it's the best Mexican in these parts. The food is consistently good. Ingredients are fresh. Portions are large. Service is excellent. The decor is inviting -- especially those painted chairs! Even the Mexican "musak" is tolerable. The salsa brought to the table is complex -- though, like some others, I'd like a bit more heat. I gave it 5 stars, not because it's the best Mexican food you can get but because it's the best you're going to get in B'ham.

Mi Mexico is our go-to restaurant whenever we go to Bellingham. The service is good and friendly, and the food never disappoints. My husband had the burrito special yesterday and it was only $8.99, for a massive amount and he said it was fabulous. I had the chilli relenos and it was delicious. Great prices, great food. You can't go wrong.

We were referred to this place by a coworker. It was a Saturday afternoon and we decided to give it a try. The server was ok but eventually opened up and was nice. The portion of our orders was generous. And we actually had leftover. And we ordered from their lunch menu. They also make a killer original margarita. So smooth and tasty. We will be back.

After one very, very long and hectic day of doing too much in too little time, we finally decided that drinks and dinner would mark the end of the day, and we wanted this event to be relaxing. Being in a city that I had no information about, Yelp came to the rescue. For some reason Mexican was on our minds (subliminal margarita messages from somewhere) and we came across this place. The decision was an easy one and delivered VERY fast. One fishbowl sized margarita and a chicken chimichanga. The chimi was well cooked... not greasy tasting at all. The chicken was very moist and tender. Rice and beans were good as well. Portions were perfect sized. For what is worth, this is the first place where I was warned that the plate was hot, and it actually it was. (yeah, dumb move, I know) The margarita... ahhhhhhhhh mucho refreshing! Service was very, very good and friendly. I actually felt welcomed there. If your heading up or down the 5, this is a worthwhile stop, and not too far off the freeway.

Excellent food my only complaint is the size of the menu it is HUGE, thankfully the margaritas were fantastic so we took our time to order.

Just dropped in for some appetizers, but mostly was just craving some chips and salsa.... The quesadilla was delicious and the standard table salsa had a good amount of spice...

To start, our server was very nice. Everything warrants two stars. Our party of three walked in, greeted by a hostess who did not give one f*ck about seating us. "Three?" she asked coldly. She walked us to table, dropped three menus off and returned five minutes later to say, "Lunch is over guys" while we looked at the back lunch menu (lunch was indeed over by ten minutes, but it was like she dug being a total B). She for some reason had total disdain, but I still tipped the server 20% cos' she was nice although her colleagues and chef could use some re-training. I ordered chicken mole which was not mole at all, more of a tangy hybrid between duck sauces and general tso's. Geographically, I understand how far away it is from Mexico- it's in the city closest to Canada! But nonetheless, it was the first place I ever said, "Damn- wish we went to Red Robin."

I'm writing this review as I'm sitting in this restaurant. So far I've had their complimentary C n S and I'll give it 3/5. I'm also having a Rita Rox and I must say it's excellent: 4/5. The female server, an older lady, is clearly not happy to be here and looks frustrated and tired. A very friendly male server just brought my albondago soup. It's huge and hot. I used to live in Houston so I know a little bit about Mexican food (Tex-Mex any way) and this soup is excellent and did I mention it's huge? I'm a big eater yet I was only able to finish less than half the bowl. I did eat all the meatballs , however, as they were excellent. The soup is definitely a 4/5. For dinner I've ordered the carne asada (I know, not very adventurous) but since this is my first time here I decided to go with a staple. By the way I chose this place bc I'm staying at the Best Western hotel across the parking lot. Okay so just finished eating about half of my carne asada. Again the portions are gigantic. Overall I have to give this entree 4/5. The guacamole deserves a 5, however , as it was very fresh and well made. Definitely recommend this joint if you're into Mexican. Just as an aside if you drive through Blaine (just up the road) avoid Paseo Del Norte. Happy eating everybody.

Food is great, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. If You're Mexican you will feel more than welcome here. Enjoy everyone

Mi Mexico is good Mexican food for the area. Their food may not be totally authentic to Mexico but it is good and I've always gotten good service. We eat here regularly. I particularly like the carne asade tacos.

Ate here on the way back to Vancouver, BC. Decor is fun and colorful, serving staff are prompt and friendly. Unfortunately, the food is bland, oversalted and greasy. Serviceable as a quick meal on the way home, but do your homework and maybe eat a couple exits before this one.

My friend and I both got sick from eating here, and my doctor thinks it's salmonella. (I had the beef tacos, she had the chicken and steak fajitas). I'm never going back.

I have eaten at Mi Mexico many times, and it's always been great. Not just good mind you, but consistently great. It's a fair sized restaurant, but at peak times, it's always quite full. The high volume no doubt helps ensure everything is always fresh. I recently asked for an off menu item, and had it in minutes, no problem. Service is friendly, quick, and they are always there with a refill of nachos and salsa when you need them. A very good selection of drinks, with some fine tequilas on offer. Prices are very reasonable; expect dinner and drinks for two at around fifty dollars. You will not leave hungry. I can't say enough good things about the food at Mi Mexico.

I have been to Mi Mexico more times than I can count. I have brought dozens of people with me, multiple times. I absolutely love Mi Mexico; enough that I will willingly drive the hour to get here AND go through the border crossing just to get my fix. Friendly staff. Ridiculous prices. Insanely delicious food and hilariously large portions. Free chips and salsa; pitchers of water on the table as soon as you sit down. Honestly, in all the times I've been to Mi Mexico, I've never had anything less than a 4-star time (and that one time was due to a new server who wasn't as fast as usual). Have I mentioned that I love Mi Mexico? It is hands down my favourite place. If I could give it 8 stars, I would. Next time you cross the border for some shopping in Bellingham, skip the mall food court or Red Robins and go to Mi Mexico. It's very close to the mall, and you won't regret it if you love Mexican food.

Not many restaurants in the area other than the usual suspects, Mcd's and Denny's. We were on our way to a Thai place, but it seemed too pricey for what we would get. So we walked across to mi mexico. They has a decent selection. The chips were good, but the salsa was to pasty and lacked the fresh tomatos. Had the beef deluxe burrito, but I wasn't expecting it to be served wet.

Stopped in for deep fried ice cream... It was absolutely delightful! I wish we had eaten dinner here instead of Red Robin across the street. Nice staff, spotless restaurant. We will be back for a full meal next time!

Kimli W. and I eat here every time we head to Bellingham for a shopping trip (and we drag whoever else happens to be with us). The food is excellent, the staff are SUPER friendly, the service is very quick, the seating area is bright and open and the prices are more than reasonable. Plus? It's actually run by Mexicans, which is something we don't always find at Mexican restaurants closer to home. I always get one of the small combinations (taco and enchilada generally) and it's definitely more then enough. When any of our group orders something besides a combination they always rave about it as well. One warning? If you order a traditional margarita, it will take a LONG time to finish it. The thing just keeps going! Margarita shaker of holding? Only Mi Mexico knows for sure.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Bellingham. I've been going here since before they moved to their larger location years ago. The food is always good and service is fast and attentive, amazingly fast and attentive for how busy the place always is. Love it!

Almost a 5 star, 4.8 , the food excellent, service fast, drinks strong, clean floors. Good time, I'll be back soon.

Big sloppy plate of meat, cheese, rice and beans in varying configurations and quantities....so your standard Am-Mexican fare at an average price. Pretty unremarkable really.

I used to go here with a group of dancers every Wednesday night and they would be expecting us. Great service, good veg burrito, and love the sopaipillas.

Probably my favorite place in Bellingham to go for Mexican food! I really love the warm, inviting feel of the dining room and the location near the mall is great. The waiters are super friendly and attentive. The food comes very very promptly and is always delicious and exactly how I want it. The table salsa is fantastic and exactly the right level of spicyness. My personal favorite there is the deluxe tostada with chicken. It's cooked perfectly and fills me up! I definitely recommend it! :)

Mi Mexico was my long-standing favorite Mexican Restaurant in Whatcom County. After last night, I cut it to three stars account the tastelessness of the food. My meal was the #23 large combo - enchilada, chile relleno and tamale. Greasy ground beef in an enchilada? I don't think so. The jacket on the relleno was thick and didn't contribute much to the taste of the item. For that matter, the green chile didn't have much taste, either. The tamale? Again, the corn masa was made with fine ground corn, and again, lacked a robust corn masa taste. The shredded pork was dry, although the masa was nicely moist. The high point of the meal was the chips and salsa, and that isn't enough.

I love this place and look forward to any opportunity to come back. Over the past 4 years I've lived in Bellingham their food has never disappointed me. While the tortillas may not be home-made this is Mexican food done right! Done in the tradition of Guadalajara Jalisco everything from the home made beans to the drinks is amazing & consistent. For those of you who don't know Guadalajara Mexico is the mecca of amazing cuisine which is casual, comforting, and above all, delicious. The service here is fantastic & the staff is friendly & attentive. If you want yummy come here!

so i gotta tell ya how FAST this place is: my husband and i were in a hurry to get something to eat and wanted to go here but this place was SLAMMED with cars last friday night when we pulled up to the parking lot. he said oh there's NO WAY we can go here ~ they're super busy. i said, "i'll make you a bet for $100 bucks that we will be eating our food in 15 minutes from now". "YOU'RE ON!!" he said. i looked at my watch and it was 6:33 when we parked our car. since there was only 2 of us we got seated almost right away. Got or yummy chips & salsa delilvered, along with our water. Took a look at the menu and ordered our food minutes later. (we looked at our watches and both smiled at each other in anticipation of who will win the bet). Tick-Tock.... Tick-Tock. Wha-Lahhh!! In minutes, our hot plates of yummy food were served to us at our table. Guess what time it was?? It was 6:44 Yes, I got my hundred bucks! LOL!!

Every time we get a craving for some Mexican food we have do grab our passports and head for the US border. This is a great Mexican restaurant. It's got a very bright and colorful decor. It's a shame we don't have anything like this in the lower mainland. In any case, when you first sit down they bring you a basket of chips and salsa while you struggle over your decision on what to eat. Everything on this menu that I have tried so far is great, so you pretty much can't go wrong with whatever you order.

Great place to eat Mexican in Washington State. Very family oriented (no lounge). Great food & good prices keep this place full at dinner time. Variety is the key here -- many choices on the menu to please the whole family. Great staff, friendly, and helpful in decisions with the menu. Full bar service.

After 6 years living in Mexico, I went to Mi Mexico expecting just another Tex-Mex experience. WRONG!! We were warmly greeted by the owner who is from the state of Jalisco in Mexico. Most of the servers speak Spanish and are happy to converse in Spanish. The menu is extensive, the ingredients fresh. This restaurant allows for gringo tastes but stays true to real Mexican flavors and textures. Nice big parking area, free newspapers in Spanish and the prices are very reasonable.

Food was really good, chicken very moist and good flavors. My wife had shredded beef soft taco and said the beef was really well cooked but it lacked some flavor. Over all the place was nicely decorated food was good and the Chips and Salsa was one of the best around here that we found so far.

Simply the best Mexican Food in Bellingham or Whatcom County!! My wife and I have been going to Mi Mexica for almost 6 years now. We have tried other Mexican food places but we always end up back at Mi Mexico. Food: 5+ Service: 5++ (Once you order, your food will arrive in less than 10 minutes) Price: 5

After seeing the good reviews at Mi Mexico I decided to give it a try. I've been to dozens of Mexican Restaurants from different states so I'm pretty picky about Mexican food. I'd have to agree with most the reviewers and say Mi Mexico is probably the best Mexican restaurant in Bellingham and has a good variety of americanized Mexican dishes (like most Mexican restaurants in Washington State.) __________________________ Food Flavor: 4.0/5.0 Food Portions: 5.0/5.0 Menu Selection: 5.0/5.0 Service: 4.0/5.0 Restaurant Atmosphere: 4.5/5.0 Restaurant Cleanliness: 5.0/5.0 Prices: 3.0/5.0 Parking: 5.0/5.0 _________________________ The food was excellent but still falls short of cuisine you'll find down south (Texas, New Mexico, or Arizona), so I deduct one star from its rating. But if you want good Mexican food in Washington state, then Mi Mexico is the place to go.

I came to this place about six years ago, but had forgotten about it until today when my bf and I came across it again while making a pit stop at the nearby McDonalds for a coffee after driving from Vancouver to Bellis Fair. So glad I found it again! Same great food as before and same great service. Very generous also as they brought us more fresh salsa and tortilla chips after we devoured the first batch and all complimentary! The food when it arrived was similarly very generous in portion. My bf had the chipotle chicken combo which came with lots of mushrooms and chicken and a chipotle sauce with rice, salad, and refried beans. The chipotle chicken was spicy, delicious, and piping hot. I had the appetizer chicken quesadilla which was your standard quesadilla with guacamole and sour cream, but honestly, for an appetizer it was large enough for a full meal plus I had some leftovers to take home. The bill was amazingly reasonable - $33 for the food plus a glass of red wine and a delicious large margarita! We left very full and very satisfied with our experience.

My daughter and I happily revisited Mi Mexico during a recent shopping trip to Bellingham, and were less pleased with the food this time; the quality of ingredients seemed equal to our first experience, but the dishes (mine a vegetarian burrito, I think - but it's been a couple of weeks) were much more bland, typical Americanized Mexican. Still, the service was outstanding (they have attentive but not overbearing down to a science) and the atmosphere just what we wanted. Try, try again!

  • Deryn M.

Mi Mexico is by far the best food, service, and environment to eat Mexican food in Bellingham. The food is always fresh, tastes great, and is served fast and friendly. Lunch specials are great deals that won't let you leave with an empty stomach for under $10. Favorites are Carnita's with chicken and the Fajita Salad with chicken. For dessert get the deep fried ice cream and share it with someone because after that big meal you ate the whole thing is over filling. I would recommend it to anyone that wants great food and a good time.

Spent last weekend in Bellingham and went to Yelp to see where to eat out with grandkids. Mi Mexico reviews were impressive. Unfortunately, Mi Mexico was not. Okay, the pitchers of water and the chips and salsa hit the table quickly. Then, the wait service disappeared. Extensive child's menu? Nope. Just a small note that indicated a choice of entree with beans and rice for $3.50. Not complaining, but the wait after that was incredible. One would think with half the order being 3 child plates that it would be a 1-2-3 quick deal. Had to flag the waiter to bring a soda refill at $2 for all you could drink. Had to question why we went through double baskets of chips and salsa before we got service. Had to wonder why it is necessary to charge so much for some bean dip for the chips. Food tasted good, but this was nothing special. I'll search before I eat Mexican food in Bellingham again.

My spinach quesadilla was basically a big pile of oil and fake cheese....took one bite and threw it out. My husband thought his chicken taco was ok.

  • Odette C.

I will be happy with just a beer & their homemade salsa (with fresh baked nacho chips) Arroz con pollo, basically chicken with tomato sauce with avocado, cheese and rice on the bottom. Great sauce, chicken meat was ok. comes with corn tortilla for wrapping. Soupa with the minted pork meatballs and loads of veggies like carrot, zuchini, potato etc. Got free dessert, Nacho chips with honey, whip cream and strawberry sauce. Good price, good food, good drinks. Good location (pretty much just right across from Bellisfair)

  • Isabel B.

We decided on Mi Mexico based off yelpers review. Then I realized that most of the yelpers were Gringos. From a Latino perspective, the food at Mi Mexico is Americanized. For the record, in Mexico, mexicans do not put cheddar cheese on pinto beans nor do they eat coleslaw with their tacos. The staff and their service was friendly, the place was OK clean. The food was edible, but I have been down to the core of Mexico and Mi Mexico should be ashamed.

I've eaten at several Mexican Restaurants here in Bellingham. And to me, this is by far the Best Mexican food in this town. It tastes Great and the prices are reasonable.

Don't let the bright decor and "family restaurant" sign turn you off! Came here at the recommendation of a friend on my way back to Vancouver this weekend. The staff are incredibly friendly and service is fast... before you've even had a chance to look at the menu, you've got fresh chips and salsa and a pitcher of water at your table! The food is good quality as well - I was a bit worried when I saw all the families here, but it's a nice casual atmosphere. The menu is extensive - tacos, salads, enchiladas, burritos, soups... it's all here. Prices are inexpensive and food comes quickly. Decent quality including the use of fresh ingredients and shredded beef (slight premium over ground beef - I think about another 50 cents or a dollar more for it). You'll be stuffed after spending about $10-15 a person for dinner!

  • Vlad K.

I'm a big fan of Mi Mexico. The place is clean, service is good, food is good and quick. Prices aren't bad and portions are large. I could use a little more spice on my food but usually just get extra salsa which takes care of most of my needs. Mi Mexico is one of my go to places for when I have a large group too. They handle large groups efficiently and quickly. There are a number of other places in town where over six people causes a near melt down, Mi Mexico can't be number amongst those.

WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD!!! This was probably one of the 10 times I have been to this restaurant and I will never be returning again. We had a group of 4 people for a later lunch. There were lots of people in the restaurant but still tons of empty tables so definitely not the busiest I have seen it. It took over 15 minutes after sitting down to receive waters, and we had to flag someone down for them, no one came on their own. It took another 15 minutes of waiting after we received our waters for us to find a waiter (again, by ourselves) who would take our order Our waiter didn't even give us his name or a greeting but simply rolled his eyes at us and said "what do you want?" He then left the table leaving all of the menus with us in a pile. When our food arrived it was mediocre at best and no one came around then entire time to ask how our food was or refill our waters. We never saw our waiter again. We asked a different gentleman walking by if he could take out plates and get our bills. He took only one plate and brought one single bill when it was clear we would need separate bills. We asked him to please split them and he did and then never came back. After again waiting for over 15 more minutes we got up and planned to walk to the front to pay. The gentleman appeared and blocked our way holding his hand out for the cards. We let him know we had been again waiting for an extremely long time and the service has been horrible. He replied without apologies merely saying "well we are busy." This is the first time I have ever been to a restaurant and didn't leave a tip. I will never come back as this was the most disrespectful customer service I have ever received.

We had the pleasure of enjoying great Mexican food tonight at Mi Mexico. Their portions are huge and service excellent. We are definitely stuffed and would go back again any time we are in Bellingham. What struck me as so cute were the brightly painted wooden chairs, each with a different design on them. There were butterflies, flowers, chilis, and looked to be hand painted in Mexico. My husband and I played a game, trying to find 2 the same but we were hard pressed to do so. If i had young children i would definitely bring them in just to see the chairs but I'm sure they would love the food too !

I was here years ago .. I remember getting mexi-belly. You know what I'm talking about, right? Mmm hmm. Well, not last night. I am sorry to say but refried beans cooked in lard? Yes! Loves it. I had a combo. Hi, enough food for 2 people - no wonder.. Nevermind. The tamale was the perfect texture and the enchilada had minced beef instead of shredded.. and I prefer shredded, but that's okay, it was still delish. Next time though, I'm asking for a hotter salsa, mild just doesn't cut it. Oh, and coconut margarita? Yes, hello. I like the fact that as soon as they saw you were almost done your little bowl of salsa, one was already on your table. Seriously, good service. I have had better mexican food from a taco truck in Olympia, but you know what? Good services makes everything so much better. The food wasn't bad either.

The guy that I am dating recommended this place whom heard it from a coworker whom apparently knows his Mexican food. It was good. My standards for Mexican in WA state or in Vancouver are way too high considering that I have had the best Mexican in L.A. For what it was, the food was good. I had the quesadilla which had tons of cheese and the chicken was tender and flavorful. The service was good and attentive. They even came by the check on our refills and offered us a fresh basket of chips when we hit the bottom before our meals came out. I came here from Vancouver after shopping and the portion size was great. I ordered the appetizer size which equals a full meal in Vancouver. Note to Canadians..save your money and go with an appetizer as you will be full. The prices are awesome. The next time I came across the border, I want to eat here again.

I love this place. Not only is the carne asada and everything else on the menu amazing and inexpensive, the service is beyond... Just about the best service I've had anywhere in Bellingham. I met amazing people when I used to eat there with my mom and best friend every Friday night! Haha it's a Bellingham favorite

I've went here several times during lunch time, and so I look at the other reviews and wonder what people are talking about in regards to 'waiting around...' I have never had to wait for food, nor for anyone to come around. So the review Mexican food, the thing is unless food is HORRIBLE am i able to distinguish anything in an ethnic dish that would be considered bad. I eat said food and if I don't cringe or throw up, then food is good. Its a wonder why I even bother reviewing things considering I'm not much of a food connoisseur. Back to the review again, so SUPER bright place, and the ambiance is like nothing I've ever seen. The chairs are kind of strange either they make you feel taller or they are higher off the ground. Ordered the Chalupa and comes with rice refried beans salsa etc... no complaints about that, Salsa and chips right when you sit down, salsa was even quite spicy (spicier then I would think a place would have them). 2 people without drinks under $20.00. Can't go wrong with that. Overall, I'd definitely go back and would recommend it to people in the future.

I have actually crossed the border from Vancouver with friends solely to eat at Mi Mexico. I suggest you do the same. It's barely a detour from the highway (and just across the street from Bellis Fair!), and if you like authentic Mexican food there's no excuse to skip this restaurant. Awesome prices, as one dish is really two meals. Great flavors, a few pretty healthy menu items, speedy and friendly service, and free tortilla chips with house made salsa to start! The huge handmade/hand painted chairs really make the decor, and the human head sized daiquiris can ease any travel stress as long as you're not the driver.

Good Mexican food. They are a bit overpriced for dinner, but their lunch prices are great. One of my favorite lunch places in Bellingham. The carne asada lunch is priced reasonably, and has a good amount of meat. That's my favorite for lunch. Keep your eye on the lunch specials posted at the front of the restaurant, they have some really interesting items.

For my 100 th review I'm proud to review Mi Mexico I like everything about this place. The atmosphere is wonderful. The colourful carved benchs and chairs, the wall decor, the feel of it is right. The staff are friendly ,authentic and the sounds are right. We always have a warm welcome when we enter. chips come to your table first. The food is presented well and the tastes are exquisite. The plate is filled with colour. The beans are made fresh everyday. The margarita is powerful and tasty a must have. I suggest sharing it with someone special. I'm simply excited every time I go here.

When you want a quick dinner after hitting the mall - come here. They will whip up a big plate in a moment and you can be out the door in half an hour. The combos for about 11 dollars are a great deal... I had a delicious tamale, somewhat small but rich enchilada, and a crispy loaded taco, plus a mess of rice and beans and veg. Not super fancy but hearty and tasty.

  • Cosmiques ..

Not traditional Mexican fare but pretty good stuff nonetheless. Portions sizes are big, which is nice if you want to take some food home to eat later. I suppose for Bellingham this place is okay. Coming from Texas though this place just wouldn't cut it. The generic fare is more American than it is Mexican. Though that's to be expected this far north. It's not bad, but it's not great either.

The food was really good and good portion sizes. My wife found a hair in the salsa and my nephew didn't get his food the way he ordered it. Other wise I would have given this place 5 stars. The wait staff was still very friendly and professional. My nephew got a free quesadilla out of it. and my wife got more salsa.

I absolutely love this place. A friend of mine has been coming here since she was a kid with her family and I'm surprised I've never ce across it myself. Its right across the street from Bellis Fair mall. I'm sure because the restaurants around the area all kind of look a little sketchy contributed to me thinking.... Meh I'll just eat somewhere else, don't make the same mistake! I'm not sure about authentic but it's as good as Mexican food goes. They have a huge menu. Tons of options! Salads.. Soups.. Meals.. Seafood.. Steak.. Chicken, you name it. The lunch specials are cheap ($10 or less) don't be fooled by the price the portions are really big! They give you free chips and salsa and refill it. They have great service and check on you frequently. It's a perfect after shopping spot for you Canadians if you're headed to bellis fair for the day or coming home right before the border.

Had dinner here one evening - ordered the Chorizo Burrito. While waiting for my food, they brought out a basket of chips with salsa. The salsa had a nice depth of flavor and just a hint of heat, I would have preferred an even spicier salsa, but it was tasty. My Chorizo Burrito came out, smothered in queso sauce and diced tomatoes. I asked for hot sauce, they brought me out a bottle of Tapatio - a standard Mexican hot sauce - which I don't consider to be very hot, plus two whole grilled Jalapeños. I added a good bit of the hot sauce to the Burrito and munched down the Jalapeños in between bites of Burrito. Overall the Burrito was good, I thought the Chorizo in the Burrito was a little overly greasy, but it had good flavor. The Jalapeños they brought me had better heat than the Tapatio hot sauce. Service was good! Everyone was very friendly. I would come back here again!

This place was amazing!!! We stopped in Bellingham on our way up to Vancouver. The receptionist at our hotel suggested this place and I could be happier. The staff was very welcoming and friendly . We were greeted and seated right away. The menu is huge and it's hard to pick one they all sounded so good. I finally decided on the steak burrito and it was HUGE!! Not only was the burrito itself large but it was served with a large portion of retried beans and rice. It was all delicious. I would highly recommend this place it is reasonably priced and it gives you more than enough for a meal plus leftovers.

When I want really good Mexican for a reasonable price I head over the border to Mi Mexico in Bellingham. The service is friendly, the décor is bright and uplifting and it is always busy which is a good sign. Their Carne Asada platter is so tender and delicious as is the carne asada quesadilla. The taco salads are great for a less filling meal. The tortilla soup is filled with chicken and avocado and the chimichangas are crispy and filled with delicious meat, topped off with guacamole, cheese and sour cream. This place cant be beat.

Mi Mexico is a great restaurant to try for those who want to fully experience Mexican cuisine. Mi Mexico brings all the unique dishes of Mexico at your table. The restaurant has a fun, warm, and nostgic atmosphere and the service is fast, friendly and very accomodating. Once seated you are brought fresh tortilla chips and home made salsa while you decide on an entree. Be prepared because the portions are huge and everything is well prepared and made fresh. A go-to favorite of mine is the grilled sirloin steak with spanish rice, refried beans, fresh tortillas and grilled veggies. The steak ranchero is also very delicious, well seasoned and very tender...served with sauteed mushrooms, Spanish fried rice and refried beans. The burritos and enchaladas are also a go to choice and they too are large in size and very flavorful.

We all walked in the door as a party of 6 and were instantly helped. The manager walked us back to our table almost immediately after the hostess went back to put the tables together. We sat down and instantly had plenty of chips and salsa. We ordered beer, margaritas and strawberry margaritas. Margaritas were not mixed very well. The straw dropped down into a pool of lukewarm low-grade tequila. A bus boy pops them in a blender at the waitress drink station loud enough for everyone to hear. We ordered the fajita burrito, combo 25, combo 23 and quesadillas. Everything was pretty average. The cheese and lettuce was not used sparingly to say the least. The salsa wasn't anything great but nothing was bad. Overall a solid 4/5. Being 2k miles from the Texas/Mexico border it's not too shabby.

This place it's super amazing cause the food it's so real authentic Mexican and at same time real Mexican servers not like other Mexican restaurants that they servers are not real or there are from other countries plus the food it's really good..!!!!

Came here for lunch with my boyfriend after shopping at Home Depot. This place was delicious, very lively and fun! The staff are exceptionally nice and outgoing - filling our waters constantly and asking how we were doing. The music was loud and it was very busy but we got our food quickly. Come here during lunch time cause the meals are large and cheap! Even got a little take-home container and had the leftovers for dinner! Can't wait to come here again, would definitely recommend to anyone in the area. Not to mention, the different colored chairs are awesome!

This used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant in Bellingham (well, after Cinco De Mayo closed...sniff sniff). And they've still got it going on. Even though the restaurant is large, it has a definite family-run feel to it - you get a friendly greeting as you enter, and the decor is bright and festive. The menu features all of your typical Mexican fare, and the margaritas are strong. My favorite is the Shrimp Caesar Salad; and they have good tamales too. It's good to see this restaurant still going strong after all these years!

This restaurant is exactly what I've been looking for! I remember when I was a kid my parents once took me to a restaurant like this one. This is the first place that matched my experience from my childhood. Canadians, you must stop here after your shopping experience. We do not have food like this in Vancouver. Excellent prices, huge portions and very tasty. We had the burrito special and the chicken enchilada. Both were amazing. I took most of mine home and ate it for lunch the next day at work. It was still as good as the day before. Great for families, anyone who is really hungry or anyone who loves Mexican food.

The menu was extensive, the decor festive, and service was snappy. Our party ordered the chicken and beef fajitas which was tender and flavorful; and the Camarones Mojo de Ajo (shrimp and mushrooms with garlic sauce) - that garlic sauce was amazing with just a hint of pan-charred garlic. They also have a kids' menu for the kiddos. Though we wished they had horchata for drinks. The fried Ice cream was a delicious finale to a wonderful meal: A great big ball of vanilla ice cream with a deep fried crispy layer on the outside over a deep fried sweet flat bread; it was even too much for four people. We will definitely come here again the next time we're in Bellingham!

This place 10 years ago was amazing. It has seriously gone down hill. I will give them that they have decent service but the food is just greasy and not flavorful. I will not eat here anymore. Sad to say.

We were passing through on our way to Vancouver, BC and tried this place for the first time. The food and service was exceptional. Reasonable and huge portions. My husband had the chicken tortilla soup and he loved it. My dish was also great! We are definitely stopping in again on our way back home.

This is American style Mexican food. Everything is smothered in cheese and you'll feel a little bad about yourself on your way out the door. If that's what you're looking for it fits the bill. We are driving north and I'm slightly concerned about what this food will do to my stomach before we get to our destination. Service was fast and friendly. Prices are fine. My only real complaint is that the margaritas are made with a mix..

Haiku Review: Clean, wide, open, bright, Friendly servers know what's up huge, huge portions. Huge. They do their meat well Steak Jalisco, Mex three ways, So much food. So much. Margaritas can be done up crazy style, but - go for the classic.

Impressed, by the food, large portion and the fajita burrito was loaded! So much so i had leftovers which never happens in accordance to my eating habits. The pico de gallo could use some work and the sauce was a bit too spicy for my liking. But i will still come back.

Fantastic Mexican food! That is all. They have a very large menu, of which I only had to read about 4 lines before I was already overwhelmed with the choices. I decided on a chimichanga. The service is extremely friendly, and all of the staff call you 'amigo' and say 'gracias', you get the idea. They have traditional music playing, and the painted chairs in the dining area seem very authentic and colourful. I'm sure this used to be a different kind of restaurant before it was Mi Mexico, based on some of the decor elements not quite matching the Mexican decorations, but hey, whatever. Chips and salsa were very good, and the margarita was excellent - it seemed to have a reasonable amount of booze in it, and it was only $4.99. As I said early on, the food is fantastic. My chimichanga came loaded with chicken inside, sour cream and guacamole on top (no extra charge), and tons of flavourful rice and refried beans on the side - YUM. I'm no Mexican food expert - mainly because we have all of two Mexican restaurants in Vancouver, and neither are good - but this is some of the best Mexican food I've had, and definitely the best I've had in Bellingham. All told, the prices were very reasonable (2 lunch specials and a margarita came to $20). The staff were friendly, the service was quick, the ambiance was warm and authentic, and they're located close to the main shopping area in Bellingham (just off Meridian, a stone's throw from the mall and 5 minutes from Costco). Not only will I be back, I'll be back with as many friends and family as I can fit in my car - this is phenomenal food.

My FAVORITE Mexican food in Bellingham! I've ordered so much stuff from the menu, nothing is a disappointment! So delicious! My personal favorite is the Carne Asada with the shrimp(it usually comes with mushrooms but I order it without them). The prices are really good especially compared to the other Mexican restaurants. I just wish they were open just a little later. The service is always nice. The environment is neat and clean. We eat here almost every month.

Shopping the Thanksgiving Weekend sales and stopped in for some goodness! I have been 'trying' to eat healthy - and by 'trying' I mean 'failing'. After a few hours of shopping the sales at Bellis Fair Mall, we decided to take a break and have a bite to eat - the food court was packed and since we had bags to take back to the car, we decided to go out to eat and avoid the rush (and insane food court prices). We drove 2 mins across the way to Mi Mexico - this was my first trip there after becoming addicted to Yelp. Pros: -good food, semi authentic -service is friendly -portions are good size -reasonable price -great for groups, they have a separate room for parties and several large tables Cons: -dirty bathrooms -uncomfortable seats -sometimes it is just too full! Tips: -the chips and salsa they serve free are fresh with unlimited refills - do induldge -order some pico de gallo with it - extra charge but well worth it -the classic margarita is enough for two if you are a cheap date like me -almost anything here can be adapted to low carb or keto

Made us sick, staff was pretty bad. They didn't even re-fill our drinks. Food was not great. Was very disappointed, sub-par. The guy at the front was super nice greeting us but everyone else seem to ignore us

Food has gone down hill. This used to be my favorite, consistent, at least once a week stop. But the food has gone down hill since they opened their Burlington location. Maybe the chef went to the new location, who knows. Very sad to say I rarely come to visit my buddies at mi Mexico. At least their salsas are still the best

My whole visit here was very good. The staff were pleasant, if a smidge hasty. My sun-burnt co-worker didn't have anything really special, while I got the Mucho Flaco Burrito and Churros (not-listed for some reason). -Mucho Flaco Burrito: Fresh, light and healthy. Awesome choice of ingredients and I really loved the cilantro in this. Plus, a nice presentation, as well. -Churros: Oh, how I've missed Churros! These were great. Not too large, just small enough and awesome. Good chewy balance. Comes with whipped cream and some chocolate syrup around the plate. The co-worker said the place is different compared to a year ago. Indeed, it looks much nicer with better decor and I believe a name change. Great food.

Good Mexican food is hard to come by up here in the northern regions of the Pacific NW--especially in smaller towns; but once in awhile you run across a good one. I usually always order cheese or chicken enchiladas in a Mexican place. Got chicken this time. The chicken part was good, but the enchilada sauce was not good at all--it was just kind of bland and thin and not a good flavor. Hub had the sizzling fajitas and enjoyed them. The margaritas were so-so--you could taste an odd flavor, must have been the mix they use. Attentive service. Don't know if I'd have much luck, but I'd try other places before going back if I'm in the area again.

Had lunch with the wife. Staff was friendly and inviting. Service was quick. Chips were fresh, hot, and crunchy. I had Chili Colorado and wife had a Taco/Enchilada plate. Very good. Wife wants to return.

Sad to say that this place used to be one of my top Mexican restaurant choices in town, and it has sadly gone REAL downhill. My husband, a girl friend, and I went here, and all of our orders looked like someone just kind of crapped them out onto the plate. Mine was really runny and sad, not to mention didn't even taste right. My husband and I both had mild food poisoning. Never going back.

First off, the service is great- fast & friendly, and very attentive with pop & chips & salsa refills. The food is only so-so, though. Edible, generously portioned, but not particularly tasty. We've had quesadillas, enchiladas, and chimichangas here. The rice and beans are fine, the sauces and fillings are pretty bland though.

Well, I don't know. The food was not amazing but I enjoyed my meal. The service was super friendly and fast. I hate to be one of those people who has a particular bad experience and writes a review, but here's the thing: as we were leaving I used the bathroom and the door to the stall in the men's room actually fell off its hinges and crashed to the floor as I closed it. My toddler son was in there with me and I hate to think what could have happened had it hit him. I told one of the staff members and he didn't seem very surprised or concerned about the incident, which struck me as a bit weird. That's weird, right?

Friendly host, good location, generous portions. I'd suggest one of the big burritos! We'll be back for sure.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
