Back again on July 31. Justin asked if we wanted to sit in bar. I said "No". He asked me a 2nd time if I wanted to sit in the bar. I said "No I don't want to sit in the bar. (Justin was not wearing hearing aides, and it was not noisy in the restaurant). We quickly got our drinks. After making our menu selection I looked around for Justin. He was in the bar folding table wear into napkins. Justin eventually made his way back over and took our order. Justin brought us our soup, which had a tasty broth and some veggies. Our entrees arrived shortly. Once again I had the Mongolian Beef $13.95. Just as good as last time. Best M.B. I've ever had in any type of Asian restaurant, great recipe. My guest had the Veggie Delight Lunch Special. The peanut sauce on the entree was delicious. It also came with a decent sized salad and brown rice. A great value at $8.50. A bus person came by and filled our glasses. Justin returned and checked on our meal. Later Justin brought the check, before we were finished eating. Justin eventually came back and looked into the check folder for a credit card. I told Justin, if you don't take away the plates, I don't tip. So he dropped the check folder, and took the EMPTY (so good) plates away. I left the cash in the check folder, and told Justin to "have a nice day", as he was at the hostess counte,r as we exited Asian 1.

We walked in and were seated quickly and our orders taken. We ordered the Phan-tasty Roll and Pineapple fried rice. We were seated about 2 tables away from the sushi bar which was empty when we arrived. A few minutes later a young man walked behind the bar and started making our sushi. He then shouted to a nearby waitress "Ew, the Phan-tasty roll is nasty. Who would order this?" I was immediately put off and worried about the quality of the sushi. If the chef is grossed out by it why would I want to eat it? Personally though the roll was rather tasty but it did make me wary for the rest of the meal. The Pineapple Fried Rice was pretty salty overall. It is highly unlikely I will go back.

Surprisingly good Thai food. Like, very shocked. The red curry was flavorful and generous portions. If you like any heat get 3-4 stars, they are really mild

Back when I worked in the "north end" of the Ham I frequented Asian 1 (it was called Pad Thai back then) and always enjoyed their lunch specials. Even though they changed their name a few years ago, the menu remained the same - which is a good thing. Yes, they raised their prices a bit, but you can still get a good lunch special (which includes soup, rice, and salad) for under $10. While it's always tempting to order their pad thai, I suggest branching out and trying a few of their other yummy dishes. Yesterday we shared an order of Red Curry, which featured chicken and veggies in a yummy coconut milk broth; plus their Pad Kee Mao with its thick, chewy noodles, crunchy veggies, and yes chicken again. For an appy I also ordered their hamachi sashimi, which was yummy but $6.95 for three dinky pieces. Asian 1 also has a full bar and a good tap list (they almost always have Iron Horse Brewery's "Irish Death" on tap - one of my faves). Our server was also extremely attentive, even though he was juggling us plus a huge group that came in simultaneously.

I walked here from Costco on a late Saturday afternoon while waiting for tire service. One of the Costco employees highly recommended this restaurant. It is in a strip mall next to a Starbucks and Vietnamese Pho diner, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The interior is somewhat dingy and dark despite the large picture windows along the storefront. I managed to be seated by one of the windows near the hostess stand. Despite being visible to waitstaff, it took some time before water was delivered to my table or a drink order could be taken. I was glad I took the time to order both water and Pepsi at the beginning because waitstaff slacked on automatically refilling my two beverages even though my water glass sat empty for much of my meal. The menu has both Thai and sushi. I opted for the former and chose green curry with vegetables and a side of jasmine rice. The spice scale is 1-4 stars, so I played it safe by selecting 2. It was just right. I'm glad I didn't choose 3, especially since my drink glasses sat empty and waitstaff weren't around much to make additional requests. The food was plentiful and tasty. It was served piping hot. The vegetables were fresh and crisp. I also ordered black rice pudding for dessert. It was served warm with a dash of coconut milk. It was a delightful. I might come back here to try the Mongolian beef everyone raves about, but only if I'm in the area.

Absolutely love this place. I get the pad Thai and Thai coffee and it is sooooo good. Ambience is great here. Service is usually great too. I have nothing negative to say.

As long as there aren't too many Canadians (aka weekdays), I'll be back! Pros? -good at a variety of things -sushi was fresh -thai food had good flavor Cons? -portions were a wee bit smaller than I'm used to (thai leftovers ftw)

Brandi is a great server! Sushi quality is fair to good. I asked for a side of sushi rice with my sashimi. It seems almost like loose ride one would serve with Thai food / curry. The sushi chef mumbles and places items where I can barely reach them. They may be trying to be good at too many things and falling a little short on all of them. They serve a variety of Asian cuisines here. With the good service from Brandi, I'll come back to try their Thai and other options. Probably my last visit to their sushi bar.

This place before used to be Pad Thai I believe. This is one of my Yummers places NOW. The last time I had been here was years ago and they served me a drink with a bug in it and didn't comp my drink :-( HOWEVER, my latest experience was very different. I went there on 11/17/2014. I had my usual order of Pad Ke Mao. It was delicious BUT the spice level was definitely below the 4 that I ordered so I would suggest emphasizing your heat level. I kind of liked the old setting though. Wish they would have stuck to the old decor

Consistently great when eating in, less so with take out. Service is usually great. The pad ke Mao (sp?) is awesome and the peanut sauce on the salad is too good to pass up. Thai tea with coconut milk is great but I wish they offered an unsweetened one as well. surprisingly, they don't have fresh rolls. Maybe one day... Oh, they have a sweet treat for bday celebrations. When 5+ come, the bday person gets a free meal and dessert.

Dinner at Asian 1 on February 25 2015 February 25,2015 Was sat quickly have been sitting for about 2/3 mins he said that he would be right with me still waiting the time is 4:53pm. Ryan came to the table and took our order at 4:54pm and I talked to him a little bit about the type of experience I had when I came back home told him the same thing I told you, had to ask Mariana for my soda and fathers really, food came at 5:20pm looks beautiful. Had to stop eating lol Rick came to see us he talked to us for about 20 to 30 minutes he was very happy to see that there was someone he knew, he has knows us for about 10/11 years it was nice to see him. The service was really better Mariana took care of us most of the time. We left through restaurant feeling good. My mother was so happy when we gave her, her dinner She wanted me to tell Rick thank you so much it was delicious.

Average. In town on business, went based on Yelp reviews. Lettuce wrap appetizer was good. Pad Thai was not. Had sweet orange taste (it looked orange), no spice ( ordered medium-hot). Attempted to use lime on plate but it was a day or two old and any juice was long gone. Not much chicken in Pad Thai, not very fresh. Just get the appetizers!

I travel to Bellingham for businees and I specificlly come to this place everytime. I crave the Asian 1 Jelapeno roll made by Chef Timmy! Its sweet spicy and sits on lovley sause of citrus and Jelapeno. The music is great and the whole staff is so lovley! Annika was behind the bar and couldnt be more attentive. I sit alone in a lot of places as I travel and hear the inter working of a lot of places. This is one where you can tell the staff is happy, get alongn well and really care about the customer. Not to menttion the killer Saki and Sushi! Cheers! Please try it!

Always friendly service. Great lunch specials Monday - Friday too! Prices are a bit high and they started charge bing for rice. Rice should come with your meal!

Was there for my daughter's birthday.. Was not impressed they lost or forgot our 25 person reservation and the service was not the best. They have had better days. The food was not bad but not great either. I would most likely not go back.

The food tastes pretty good. I feel like it's the perfect go-to when you're just in the mood to order take out thai food. During dinner it can get pretty crowded so sometimes you're left waiting for awhile to be seated, but if you go during the lunch hour it's practically empty. But the service is decent. I only had one experience there where I felt like our waiter was trying a little too hard (he came to our table way too much), but it was still a good experience.

  • R M.

Overall food was good. Ordered j rolls as an appetizer to start and received them as desert at end of meal. Pad thai was good, lime was dry and could not get any juice from it. Tried friends lime with same results.

Mongolian beef is off the hook!!! If you don't know what you want, except that you want beef (and honestly, who doesn't want a little beef every now and then), you'd better get the mongolian beef. I didn't want beef on this particular day. It was my first full day in the Pacific Northwest, and I wanted to scratch my fresh fish itch. I had the lunch combo with Hawaiian Poke and the unagi roll. The server heard that it was my first time, so they heaped my Hawaiian Poke high with fish! It was amazing. It was also guilt free, given that it was mixed with tons of salad, so I felt like I wasn't being a total fatty. Just a middling fatty. So if you feel like fish, get that. But really, you want the mongolian beef. And if it's too much food and you don't finish it, here's a secret: it's even better the next day.

I love this place!! I'm from vancouver and every time I hit up Costco for a quick grocery run, I ALWAYS force whoever I'm with to eat lunch here. Amazing. If you want cheap, healthy and quick food GO HERE! Also, If you go before 2pm or something you get an amazing lunch deal for cheap. 3-5 PM you get 25% off the entire menu.

Made the mistake of ordering the sashimi combo. The pieces could not have been any smaller, and they weren't fresh/tender either. A piece of my sashimi had a piece of rice stuck on it, even though the menu indicated no rice, made me wonder how it got there... Miso soup was ok, but the seaweed was old and a bit hard to chew. Panang curry with chicken wasn't too bad and the restaurant does offer brown rice as a healthy substitute. But the curry came with a splash of white coconut milk twice for my takeout orders. Can't the cook mix the curry thoroughly before sending it out of the kitchen?

delicious, fresh, quality fish. the Asian dragonfly roll states "spicy tuna" on the menu, but really it is like spicy poki. soooo oooohhh delicious. our server Brandi was pleasant and efficient.

The water was not good.. Tasted really stale or moldy.. Maybe a filter problem. Bellingham water is usually the BEST!! Menu selection was good. I had the yellow curry with chicken and brown rice. Also had the spring rolls which were really good and fresh. Waiter was ok. Had to ask for refills twice but I think he had a lot of tables to wait on at 6:40pm. Price very reasonable. I would def eat here again.. Maybe later in the evening.. Food was delivered in a fairly timely manner.

Very good. Surprised by the quality since it sits in a strip mall type building. beautiful decor. Servings are generous. You can get martinis with shakers for a good deal. Would go again, and recommend this as a place to take out of town friends. Nice selection of sushi, good ratio of raw sushi to fully cooked sushi.

Love love love this place! It can be hit and miss with the service, but the food is completely worth the risk. The Mongolian beef is a amazing and a must try! Other than the pad thai I really haven't had anything I dislike from here. Consistent food, which is hard to say about restaurants in bellingham. Check it out!

Found this OUTSTANDING restaurant on YELP. Greeted immediately, sat in the bar and was treated very attentively without hovering. New trainee , Kelsey , did an excellent job. Assisted by DeLayne, who followed up and made sure everything went smoothly. DeLayne helped with wine choices and both he and Kelsey offered details on sushi as I couldn't decide. There recommendations were right on and I left full with take home. Had the Miso soup to start and it was really yummy, fresh and lots of flavor. Had the Dragon and Spider rolls... Beautifully prepared, delicious with just enough mild spice to them. Don't miss this!

Wanted a traditional sit down Chinese fare and I was recommended Asian1. I chuckled upon entering as I saw none of the hostesses or cooks were Asian. It's a trendy spot more than anything else. But it's definitely NOT Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), it was very bland and had no traditional dishes you'd expect. If you want to impress your date then go there, but if you want real Chinese go elsewhere! Customer service was very good.

Came here a few weeks ago after taking a trip to Costco. The food was okay but found that the teriyaki chicken was a little too salty. The sushi was delicious though! Like other reviewers have commented, the place is a little too dark for my taste and we were seated at the very end of the sushi bar in the corner. It was an alright spot besides the lack of light and our waitress being a bit slow with service. The ahi-ahi salad was delicious! I had never had it in that way before, but it was prepared very fresh and eye appealing. Overall, food is healthy and tastes good, will have to try the mongolian beef next time I'm there!

Love this place!! Candace is the best! What an asset to this restaurant. We had the Pad Kee Mao with chicken and also the Honey Prawns, tonight. Both delicious as have been all the other dishes we have tried. Service is excellent - thank you Candace!! We have been there many times and plan to return many, in the future!

I love Asian1! First off all the food is amazing. Second you can't get better sushi in town. Bjarne is the master of his trade. I go into eat on my days off and he knows how I like it! A lot of his rolls are creative and the flavor combinations are perfect.

Wanted a place to go but didn't want to go to the mall. From the outside at first glance thought nope it looks kinda shady, but boy were we wrong. We went to the starbucks there and asked how it was, and the staff there raved not to mention some customers in line stated it is incredible and must be tried. Went inside, atmosphere was great, everyone was pleasant. Menu selection was wonderful, and gluten free options galore. Daily lunch specials were very cheap. The food was very delicious, not oily or greasy, and they customized the spices to ones liking. Would go back, its a must try if you haven't been.

This place was pretty tasty. I'd avoided the one on Aurora in North Seattle because it seemed super sketchy. I was pleasantly surprised. The waitress was great! My family would like to apologize to her on behalf of our father, who left a 5% tip. You weren't doing a bad job, he just doesn't know how to tip! Hopefully she got the rest that we left.

Was a great surprise! Big portions and so good! A lot of healthy options as well under 500 calories. This will be a regular stop while in Bellingham. An added surprise was Happy Hour gave us 25% off the total bill.

Pretty decent Thai food and excellent service. A bowl of Tofu soup, two teas, and Pad Thai with chicken + veggies clocked in at around $25.50 with a five dollar tip. yelp.com/biz_photos/NfmM… yelp.com/biz_photos/NfmM… My pad Thai was not the best as it was definitely made with ketchup, but it wasn't the worst, either. I appreciated that the server did not try to upsell us to order more, as it was the right amount of food for two, for lunch. They also sell sushi here, but I suspect that it's not their specialty. We were so impressed with service that we left over 20%. Since it happened to be happy hour which meant 20% off from 3-5, we were glad to leave a little extra for our efficient server, too. The bathrooms weren't particularly clean, but they were good enough. Absentmindedly, we left a sweater there, but when we returned shortly afterwards, they had been kind enough to store it for us (not that we were expecting them to throw it away, but still). I would definitely recommend this place for a quick bite for lunch, especially during happy hour after going across the line for a stop at tj's, target and gas. With all of that running around, one is bound to get hungry. It's a large restaurant, and a bit too dark for my liking, but by the time we left it was getting quite busy, and you could tell that it is popular with locals and Canadians. Also, I was able to check in here on my phone as I picked up the wifi from Sb next door. Bonus! 3.5 stars but service bumped it up to a four. A funny note-when we returned to pick up the sweater I parked in the "Pad Thai pick-up only" spot. I suspect that the place used to be called Pad Thai, but now it appears that a parking spot is designated only for people who order Pad Thai. Needless to say, in the two minutes that we'd stopped, I was not told to move my car so that people ordering Pad Thai could park!

Having just visited Zen Sushi. I will point out that Asian 1 has VASTLY SUPERIOR sushi to Zen's. I go to Asian 1 for Sushi in Bellingham. While Osaka's sushi may be slightly better (selection wise anyway) Asian One has both a more reliable kitchen in general and their choices appeal more to my wife. Also, at least with me, Asian 1's sushi chef has been more friendly if I just pop in for a quick sushi snack. My original review (Yummy) stands re Thai food: I really like this place. Tend to go pretty regularly. Was named Pad Thai in the past (I liked the old name better). I suggest the Tom Yum Soup, Poke Salad (sushi), Pad Se Iew. I feel their Tom Yum to be the best in town. Whenever I feel a cold coming on it helps. I wish I could get it piped to my house. One advantage over other Thai places in town is that, on most days of the week, they have a Sushi bar / chef. It is a bit odd to get Sushi in a Thai place, but I like it. As far as the negative reviews... I've never had a problem with quality or spiciness on anything. I will say that on various dishes (Pad Thai is one) that theirs isn't the (absolute) best I've had, but still quite good. It may depend on both the particular dish and the particular chef or day of the week. But I haven't been disappointed. The only other Thai place in Bellingham that I would send folks to is Busara down in Sehome Village. It has a solid menu and execution. Most of the others are a bit hit or miss for me: On Rice is ok, but Asian 1 is better for what I order. Poor Siamese is / was great when the original owner is / was around, but I think she's gone again so it's just so so. So, bottom line: When I go for Thai (or sushi) in Bellingham I go to Asian 1 six out of seven times.

Four of us dined tonight. We had a fairly long wait for our drinks, but that being said, they were great drinks. Raspberry mojito with fresh berries was the hit. It took awhile for our waitress to take our order, and again awhile for our food to come out. The poke, came as a salad. A long plate with romaine, topped with seaweed salad, and a minimal amt of poke. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty, but very spare with the tuna. The sushi was great. Fresh crab in the Cali roll. The other was the beautiful skirt roll, which was crab inside and freshly sliced hamachi on top. The Thai red curry with pork was fragrant and delicious, served with brown rice, which you pay a dollar for. I think if you order a curry, the rice should be included. We also ordered a noodle dish, similar to pad see iew, called pad kee Mao. The prob was we couldn't see any broad rice noodles , so we asked the waitress, who actually picked up one of our spoons and started to pick thru the dish to point out a noodle about 2 inches long...... Anyway. The taste of the dish was spicy, with a nice gentle burn, good veggies, chicken, and 2-3 noodles that were really tiny. When our bill came, the waitress had taken off the noodle dish, which we did not ask for, but was a nice surprise. Would we go back? Yes.

I was on a business trip and decides to try this place based on other reviews. I ordered the jalepeno sushi roll and pad kee Mao. The sushi was fresh and they didnt skimp on the himachi. The pad kee mao was good but I have had better at other thai places. Overall I thought it was a good place and I would definitely recommend and return.

Pretty solid thai food. The proteins are always fresh, as are the vegetables. I appreciate eating Asian and not feeling a slick of oil on my lips. We stately eat in, not that we don't like the Asian decor or it's not clean, we just prefer the consistent service and meals we get with to go orders. Some times I feel like to go orders skimp on the amounts but my the case here. Our go to dishes include the honey glazed chicken, my husband loves but the chicken is cut a little too thin for my preference. I love the pad see ew, deliciously savory, slightly sweet, and salty. The Penang curry and Mongolian beef are very good, as is the thai basil fried rice. The pad Thai is good, but not great. I find it to be too dry some times. The spring rolls are also sub par, mostly cabbage. The calamari is a good appetizer, instead of rings they cook up the whole bodies minus the tentacles. We eat here about once a month!

Service was slow that day. We waited for a long time before they even came to get our drink order and the food also took quite awhile. The food was okay but I will definitely pick another option the next time I'm in hungry for Asian food.

I visited Seattle for the first time and took the opportunity to go to Vancouver. On our way back, I read about Asian 1 from My Costco magazine for having a good variety of healthy food selections along with good Sushi. We found out the original Asian 1 was in Bellingham, so we decided to try it out for dinner. While the restaurant was busy, we were greeted upon entering, seat promptly by the hostess and were served by a really nice, friendly and helpful server named Ashley. Since it was our first time there, Ashley took the time and asked us a few questions to determine our preferences. She then recommended a few choices on the menu as well as a couple of Sushi Chef special for the day. We ended up ordering four dishes with two of them were the specials. I don't recall the names but the first dish had small pieces of salmon, seaweed, cucumber along with a couple of other ingredients that I wasn't able to figure out. The second dish was a salad with fried avocados, lettuce and slightly cooked by alcohol outside and fresh inside tuna. These two dishes alone blew me away because they were so tasty and the flavors were just right. The tuna and salmon were so fresh like they just got them from the sea and I was VERY IMPRESSED with the fact that they included wasabi and just enough sauces in the dishes where I didn't have to ask for more wasabi or ginger like most sushi restaurants I have visited . I was also very impressed with how well Ashley asked questions to make sure our food was made based on our preferences with regard to the fact that we enjoy spicy food. I'd highly recommend Asian 1 for their outstanding level of service along with the freshest quality of food particularly their sushi. I'd definitely visit Asian 1 again and again next time I'm in Bellingham. GREAT JOB ASHLEY! You made our long drive back to Seattle from Vancouver wonderful. I forgot to mention we had the fried ice cream for dessert and it is a must have.

I had recently reviewed Asian 1 after my wife and I had a less than satisfactory experience there. The food is always excellent. We had the Swimming Rama and Honey Glazed chicken which as previously mentioned were very, very good. On that particular evening it was all about service. Shortly after writing my first review I received a message from Zachary at Asian 1. Personally I'm impressed with that kind of proactive management. He was apologetic and wanted to make sure we would indeed give them another try. I assured him that we would. As I had mentioned in my review, we had been to Asian 1 before and it was a good experience. My wife and I went in for dinner last night and everything was spot on. I would like to say we tried different menu items, but sharing the Honey Glazed chicken and Swimming Rama is becoming a favorite for us. I made sure to order the same beer that I had tried on our last visit, it was a perfect pour. Proactive management.....check. Of greater importance, customer service.....check. This reminds me just how difficult the food service business is and how under appreciated good servers are at times. It seems everything is back to normal at Asian 1.

Spice level 4, thats what you want. Panang Curry with Brown Rice, Pad Thai, Tom Yum Ka with Prawn. Generous food portions, and oh soooooo delicious. We all visit Costco in Bellingham for Gas, but seriously stop here for lunch/dinner/whenever you need to eat. Staff is great, the food comes out quickly. Its clean. This would be a great restaurant worth franchising in Vancouver. What great food, boom!

The food here is tasty. The service is good. I've been here once with my wife for dine in and another for takeout. Prices are reasonable. Next time I'm craving Pad Thai I'll probably head here. The tables have a nice blackwood finish to them, which gives it a nice atmosphere. We have yet to try any of the sushi.

Great selection of food! The sushi was delicious, as was the pad kee mao. Also they had a martini on the menu, which at first seemed a bit expensive, but I was surprised it came with the shaker and served 4 martinis. Definitely was worth the $.

It's the best Thai food I've had from The Pacific NW to the Florida Keys! I know Thai food and Jay and Mr. T do it the best! And to JN it's not made with ketchup!

It was a long day and I was looking for some great, healthy food. I came across Asian1 with a work group. We came inside and even though the restaurant was literally half full, we were told we had to wait. It seemed very odd that we would have to wait in a restaurant that was half occupied. I asked why? I was told something that made absolutely no sense about the hostess being on break. I really wanted Asian food so my group stayed for another 12 minutes and it become so ridiculous that we still had not been seated. We left and went next door to Pho & More, which was fast, cheap and delicious.

Very good quality food. They have great Curry and I love the Cashews nut delight. I took away one star because they don't have the best pad thai. It could be tweaked a bit to be better. They have so many other great options that I just don't get the pad thai here. Worth going to though!

Not sure why there are 2 yelp entries for the same restaurant at bellingham. I dad been for dinner to the bellingham branch after checking the good reviews.Although the restaurant was almost empty the servers were just moving around(especially the males) and didn't pay much attention. The bar tender realized that i had been sitting for quite sometime and not being attended and had to come and take my order ;) I ordered for the honey glazed chicken which was extremely sweet. Overall it was not a pleasant experience.

I was pretty jazzed to try this place since it has become my parents' favorite Thai joint in town...but after tasting it I think I'll allow it to continue to be theirs while I drop it down to the bottom of mine. Why? Ahhh, well....here we go: The "Good" 1) Mom and Dad paid. Nuff said 2) Water was kept full 3) Waitstaff was uber friendly 4) Food was quick! 5) Food was hot (not in spice...but in temp) 6) Give you a good amount of food (not a ton but not small portions either). The "Ehh" 1) The food was just "OK" (Mom's wasn't bad...but not enough to over-come the rest) 2) I asked for 3 stars (4 being the hottest) and I went away wondering where my stars went. Did someone take my stars? When they were carrying out my food did my stars hop on someone else's food? I love you stars...COME BACK! 3) Where's the meat? I ordered a stir fry-ish thing with peppers and onions and beef...but "where's the beef?" Maybe they left with the stars? 4) "I'll be your cashier when you're ready." Really? Then why have we been sitting here with our card sticking out of the bill-thinggy waiting for you? AND YOU'RE STANDING NEXT TO US AT THE REGISTER! WE ARE THE CLOSEST PATRONS TO YOU...AND YOU DON'T SEE US?

The one time I decided to go here and pay for myself I was very upset with everything from being waited on to the food I ordered. I stood bybthe door for what was pribably 5 minutes before one of their staff saw me and took them another 15 probably before my order was taken. Now my food didnt take long to get to me. Bad thing was that everything on the plate from the noodles to the sause and chicken was flavorless. NO SEASONING WAS USED. Sent the plate back and let the waitress know it was lacking seasoning. Got my food back and was told it was seasoned this time. It wasnt still. So at that pount not only was it not seasoned it was also cold telling me the plate just sat by the cooks and nithing done to it. I got a to go box for the food paid for it( regret it) got home through it in the trash. My family gets food from here 2-3 times a month and me hoping the cook learned about seasoning, I try the food and soon eniygh I spit it out into the trash for the same reason I stated above. All in all im very unsatisfied with the restaurant.

Now called Asian 1, my boyfriend is obsessed with their mongolian beef. He would eat it 3+ times a week if I could concede to eating out that much, and at the same restaurant. I'm always a fan of their spicy thai fried rice, and their appetizers are really good. The best part is that they're not super greasy, and you don't feel like a lump when you walk away.

After visiting this restaurant's location in Burlington for lunch during the week, which was fantastic, we went to the one in Bellingham on a Saturday. They don't have their wonderful during the week lunch specials on Saturday and their prices are astronomical for what you get! For $12.50 (lunch, not dinner!) you get one entree - no rice, no soup, no salad, just the entree. It's not a big portion, either, for that price and food was OK, but nothing outstanding. Would I go back to this restaurant? NO!

Since I am writing a review i am going to be honest as much as possible. Asian 1 seems to rely on a customer base of white rednecks that enjoys eating Asain food, however doesn't like going to restaurants owned by Asians. So it seems that Asain 1 hires employees that are white, or are like 2.5% Asian. (I hope I didn't offend anyone). I went with "the" friend and "the" sister ( I am trying to adapt to the new trand of putting "the" in front of pronouns). The friend and the me order the garlic chicken and my sister ordered the honey chicken with Coconut milk. The chicken was flavorful, bit too healthy, but in all honesty the chicken tasted a bit old (or maybe its just me). I had a bit from my sister's chicken, and it just tasted too fried and too sweet. I'm not sure if they consider that healthy. The waitress wasn't very attentive. Nothing too special about her, but she seemed just slightly rude. Maybe she counldn't handel my slightly humerous jokes. However, a waitress just be trained to deal with the most obnoxious as well as regular customers. It wasn't very welcoming and the benches were slighlty unconfortable. I went mainly for the 25% happy hour discount, which was a definite plus. Overall, I might decide to go back in the future. I wish the food was made by actually Asains because it would probably taste much better.

(now under the name Asian One) You can't go wrong here. We're currently on vacation in Hawaii and have realized how good the sushi at pad thai is. The house salad is great! The jay rolls are fantastic if you like fake (cooked) sushi. And if you like the real stuff the unagi nigiri is excellent as well.

Love this place, great sushi, great Gluten Free menu! Good service, and great chefs, if you want it spicy don't be afraid to ask.

Usually, a restaurant trying to do all Asian cuisines will master none. Nothing can be further from the truth at Asian1! This new branch of the local chain, located in the Costco strip mall opposite Bobby McHale's, has been an instant super success because it's ALL ABOUT THE FOOD. Everything we've had here off their immense menu has been excellent, from Japanese salads to Chinese specialties to Thai curries... and everything else. They even serve the finest YamaMotoYama teas and a wide selection of beers, wines, and spirits. Asian1 assures everything is made with the most natural and wholesome ingredients. Although the lovely diningroom is quite large, it can be very busy at dinner time (a testament to their quality and success). And, the prices are not cheap. But, try it and you'll be convinced that it is a real bargain, nevertheless. There is also a lovely full bar in the middle of the diningroom and the service is excellent.

Wow. I've had Thai food before, but this is one place that surprised me! Located in Bellingham, I didn't expect much. My brother told me that their Vietnamese Pho places were horrible, but they had Pad Thai down pat, for some reason. Yes they did. Wowee. I ordered Pad See Yew. DELICIOUS!! One of the best Thai places I've been to. FOOD -- 4.5 -- EXCELLENT. Explosion of flavors in your mouth! Thai Tea was pretty good, a little on sweeter side, though. DECOR / AMBIANCE -- 3.5 -- Nice. The usual restaurant ambiance. SERVICE -- 4.5 -- Our server was nice and friendly. It was busy, but he was attentive. PRICE -- 4 -- Good price for GREAT FOOD! I would come back for more!

This restaurant rocks!!!!! They have an extensive menu of curry dishes, noodle dishes, rice dishes, and sushi. I'm a big fan of their panang curry. I also like this place because they have plenty of things for kids.

Ask the sushi chef to make you the "Brittney Spears" roll (not on the menu). It's seriously one of the best sushi rolls I have ever experienced!

I am seriously so impressed with this place. I've been a few times when I'm in the area and the food is always fantastic. The ambiance of this place is great with heavy dark wood tables and nice lighting. The only weird thing is it's in the middle of a strip mall type location, but it is definately worth the visit. The last time I went with a friend who is diabetic and they have a menu specifically for people who have this condition! She said she couldn't tell that the dish was made with Splenda. Go here!

I used to love this place because it was cheap, and the food was alright. I recently went back, and they raised the prices by several dollars. $11.50 for mediocre Phad Thai in Bellingham is not acceptable. Go to Jimmy's House of the Orient or any of the On Rice's in town for cheaper and better food.

Pad Thai opened and was an instant hit in the neighbourhood. Their food tastes really fresh and while their decor looks rather traditional, their menu and the dow-to-earth friedlieness of the staff make you feel more like this is a light-hearted modernization of traditional thai decor. The food, as I said, tastes really fresh. It is well worth a visit.

Food was edible. Nothing special. Maybe perhaps because their menu was too overloaded? I mean if I wanted Sushi (which wasn't fresh) I would have gone to a sushi bar.

Bad: *Service was slow throughout. *Their pad thai, the restaurant's own namesake, was terrible tasting. It had a flavor unlike any pad thai I've had before; was it even pad thai? *The swimming rama was also a bad choice; not so much peanut buttery as just sweet and with an odd aftertaste. *Atmosphere? Unless you like it loud even when there are only a few customers, this isn't for you. *Their spice system is straightforward on paper but the cook must not know the difference between 1 star and 3 stars *Iced tea tastes like the same brand most thai restaurants use (which is good), but ours came watered down. blech! Good: Price is what you'd expect. Tofu was sufficiently prepared.

Vegan review- These guys were super cool, accommodating me and my Sally (as in When Harry met Sally) ways. The waitress had a few excellent recommendations that would suit my needs, and she was right about it being tasty. Nice atmosphere, in a mini mall, cool servers.

I worked at the Olive Garden across the street for a long time and to get away from the super heavy cream and butter sauces which are in everything there I would go to Pad Thai, cause I could walk across the street, get a beer, and a quick bite. I would always have a beer (cause they have a nice microbrew draft selection) and the coconut prawn appetizer. Mostly because I didn't really think that I liked asian food and I knew prawns were safe. After a few a while the bartender knew me and forced me to branch out to try the pad kee mao... with tofu... (at the time I was very against the Idea of tofu.. this was 4 or so years ago now... I love tofu now) I was very skeptical but I liked spicy stuff and there was a chilli pepper next to it in the menu so I tried it... It was an earthshaking experience. I thought I didn't like asian food... or tofu, but it was absolutely delicious. I was then stuck on that dish for probably 2 months (with a minnimum of 2 times a week, sometimes as high as 4 or 5... the beer prices helped and they have a 25% off of everything happy hour from3-5 every day, normally i can't afford to eat out that often) eventually I branched out and tried other stuff beyond that as well, the pad see iew, the pad thai, the Pineapple duck curry... I got stuck on that one for a while... Everything is really fresh, and no MSG, or super oily asian food. It definately doesn't leave me feeling guilty like eating anything from applebees, or a fett alfredo from Olive garden. I care about eating healthy and This is one of few places I can do that, and still 100% enjoy the taste as well.. haha Oh! but try the mongolian beef and have them stir fry in some yakisoba noodles it's amazing (this dish does leave me feeling a litle guilty, but only because the dish is large and I can't stop myself from eating a whole order its so addicting)

I've eaten here and gotten take-out several times since this place opened. As far eating there I really like the tables and the atmosphere here. But bring a cardigan or something just in case cause it can get a bit cool sometimes. The drinks are very generous and I've never tried the sushi yet so I can't comment on that. The service has been hit or miss for me here from the servers, most of the time it's decent though. But the food is great, I've never been disappointed with anything I have ordered. Things I like to order are any of the curries, especially the massamun or the jungle curry. I also always order the soup with shrimp, fried tofu or chicken and it's delicious. Many of the other dishes are great here, they are generous and spicy scale can be unpredictable at times with different chefs I think, I usually order a medium level but sometimes it's a teensy bit more and sometimes it's a teensy bit less, oh well just add siracha right? All in all, you can feel confident eating here or ordering take-out.

I went home to B'ham for my birthday last week and HAD to go to Pad Thai. I had a birthday dinner there with about 10 friends. The service wasn't super amazing, but our server was a really nice guy and graciously gave everyone separate checks. He even gave me my entree and a piece of cheesecake for free since it was my b-day (with out having to ask). And of course, the food was delish.
