Have been wanting to try out this place for a while, and it did not disappoint. The Salmon and Tuna Don was excellent, super flavorful with good cuts of fatty fish. We also got superb tempura, and an amazing Energy Roll. My fiancé got a Strawberry soda to drink :) The wait staff was a bit too eager and hovered, but I don't really care about service, just what arrives on my plate. And what we were served was really excellent.

I really like this place. It's been close to my home for a lot of years and for some reason I never knew about it! First of all, the wait staff and hostess are about as kind as you like to see anywhere! True Japanese hospitality right there in the WalMart shopping center! But don't be afraid of the monstrosity next door, this sushi place is a nice, small and authentic Japanese restaurant. The sushi chefs are kind and not pretentious like many can, and like to be. The fish was fresh and the sushi rice was perfectly cooked and served at the perfect temperature. Be careful not to order too many sushi rolls as they are sized and prepared like a meal in themselves! Take a look at some of the other people's tables to see what I'm talking about! I've also posted some pictures. Our next time in, I plan on ordering some of the kitchen items and maybe their noodles. I can't wait to go back!

Recently found this place. Been meaning to check it out but kept putting it off. My loss. I love the freshness. I don't think I'll be going to another sushi place anytime soon. It's so plain and unpretentious outside. But it is full of all kinds goodness once you enter. To date we've tried out: Bento box. So delish! Katsu dinner. It's good but their sashimi is so good that we'll pass on the non sushi items. But the tempura is very good. Sashimi dinner. Fresh. Good. Nitro roll. Yum yum Green tea. Also good flavor. Miso soup. Tasty. I love it. Will return again and again

A bit of an odd location, but a good place none the less--the rolls we ordered were both yummy, and presented creatively. The man behind the bar (preparing our dishes) and the other staff on hand were very kind, and despite what some other reviews say here, we weren't charged for our tea.

There's some very good sushi here, try the nitro and super nitro rolls. At the start they'll offer you cucumber infused water to drink. Order some of the wonderful miso soup $2. Other places offer more for less, but this is good broth. Try out the super nitro (tuna) or super nitro salmon, these are really good rolls and they are filling. If you're looking for something intersect the tiger eye roll is fried. For lunch on a Tuesday we had no problems finding a table, everyone was friendly and attentive.

Sushi was good but did not like the customer service at all. No wonder the restaurant was empty on friday night. We got at the restaurant at 8:15, the waitress told us at 8:20 the last call is at 8:25 and the restaurant closes at 8:45. We should have left there then but we ended up ordering food. I double checked with Sushi chef if it really closes at 8;45 and he said the last call is at 8:45. And we dont have to leave at 8:45. So we had dinner. We finished dinner and the waitresses kept coming to clear our table telling us it is closing. And finally around 9 the owner? older lady came to our table said they are closing and everyone needs to go home. We spent about $150 and were there less than an hour. we felt so sad being rushed to leave. We had children with us so were not intending to stay late either. We will never go back there again.

Very tasty sushi. In a strip mall but good!

We did not experience their friendly service? 6 of us ate and drank on a Friday night. Spent some cash! Our ages 55-93 We all felt they were Very unwelcoming and very un organized service the entire time. We made reservations and our table was ready. Maybe they were having a bad night seemed to be pleanty of help in the house.. Older ladies smiled ( not at us) but others not at all? WE were FRIENDLY and polite..they acted like we were imposing on them? I would give them 5 stars because all our sushi and tempra was fresh and very good..but They brought everyone's food out at different times ..because unfriendly service 2 stars. Total 3 stars. Nothing worse than not feeling welcomed!! Food and friendly go hand in hand!!

This is our favorite place to eat sushi . Manabu is an awesome chef . We been coming here so many times the sushi is amazing .

Some of the largest cuts of sushi I've ever seen, and the fish quality is noticeably better in aroma and texture than most of the other sushi bars and restaurants I've been to. My chirashi was arranged like a mountain, and the fish was cut thicker than most other places serve wide. Also had better variety in the chirashi, including eel and scallops as well as extra dollops of tuna on top. Yes, it's well into the moderate price range for sushi, but for me it was a good value and I actually left a sushi bar feeling full for once.

Warning: this place charges you for tea! I have been so countless Japanese restaurants in my life, and this is the only place that charges you money for their tea, which is complimentary in most of the Asian restaurants. And of course we didn't find out till we got our bill. The food was blah. We weren't very hungry, so we ordered a Kaiseki Bento Box and a Kama to share. There wasn't one thing I truly enjoyed in that bento box. The tempera were so heavily battered that the the vegetable was maybe 1/5 of the batter, and the batter wasn't crispy. The meatballs came with the bento box was kinda gross too. It didn't taste fresh, and the texture was really weird. The Kama was decent, but the portion was pretty small. The service was ok. But towards the end, I felt I was being rushed as they were closing. I was still eating and they took away my soy sauce :( The only reason why it still has 2 stars was because while the ambiance was nothing special, the place felt very clean, and there is plenty of parking in the parking lot. But I think if I were to crave Japanese food in the area again, I would rather go across the street for ramen.

This is our most favorite Japanese restaurant in the Seattle area. We have been coming here for years even after we moved out of the state. We make sure to dine here whenever we are in town. Love their rolls and my favorites are: super nitro, kamikaze, caterpillar and dragon rolls.

Love this place, been coming in for a few years now. The old lady (who owns the place I believe) is always so sweet and welcoming whenever I've been there. The guys making the sushi behind the sushi bar are also very friendly and accommodating. Favorite sushi roll is probably the tiger roll, delicious and filling. Nabeyaki udon is also quite good, flavorful soup and lots of goodies inside. The food is generally on the expensive side but I don't miss paying extra for good service and good food!

[Dine-In] I am in love with this place and I will continue to update reviews for restaurants that I like, especially this one. The service was quick and I really appreciated that they served me at such a short notice until closing time. Essentially I had about 30 minutes to eat before they closed and my food came fast. Now the food. I ordered the bento box and it was superb. Everything was cooked perfectly and it's large enough that it could be shared with 2 people. I must say, if you are really hungry, definitely feast on this delicious tray of goodies. It is a bit pricey (26 bucks) but it is well worth it and probably the best that I've had ever. Dishes Ordered: Adult Bento Box, Green Tea Mochi Ice Cream

Tried this place for the first time today, and it was a great experience. The lady at the front desk is such a sweetheart. I got the Salmon Teriyaki, and it was fantastic. Will be back.

Great rainbow roll, and scallop nigiri. Yellowtail nigiri is also good. Dragon roll is ok.

Ended up having dinner here since Kukai was too busy. There's a weird odor that comes from the restaurant. I'm not sure if it's the food or the floors, but it's a little unpleasant when you walk in, but you end up getting used to it. We ordered some sashimi, udon, and sushi rolls. The food was pretty good, especially the tuna collar and salmon sashimi. It's quite pricey IMO. Maybe that's because we're in Bellevue, but whatever. I don't know if I would go out of my way to come back and eat here again, but it was a good alternative since Kukai was busy. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something other than Kukai and you're in the area.

Such nice people. They love my 4 month old baby since she was 2 weeks old. I love the hamachi kama, the kamikaze roll and all the apps.

Stopped by on a visit from out of town and this place is seriously the BEST sushi restaurant I've ever been to. Clean, beautifully decorated, polite and attentive staff, and of course amazing fresh sushi. Well worth the price. This place is bomb.com

I went there once and order to go, so I only can review the food - which is incredibly delicious! I ordered the salmon and I was sad (but full) when I finish it, because I could keep eating it if I had space in my stomach. I didn't call before getting there, but the food came fast and well packaged. The sad part is that the restaurant is a little far for me, but as soon as I am at the neighborhood again I'm definitely stopping there for another try!

The reviews here were pretty mixed so I didn't have too high of expectations. The inside is dim but extremely clean and modernly furnished. The bathrooms were also surprisingly clean! Lots of props for the cleanliness. Ordered the super nitro roll (10 pieces) the tiger eye roll (6 pieces), & the volcano roll (6 pieces). All were pretty pretty pricy for what you get. The super nitro roll was the best out of the three and the others were not worth the price. The tuna tempura or whatever fish was inside of the volcano roll was over-cooked and gave off a mushy consistency when bitten into. Multiple servers visited us every 4-5 minutes - I think they made individual rounds of the restaurant. Definitely didn't communicate to each other where they had checked. They were nice though. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again but that's just because I'm oddly particular when it comes to sushi.

I really like their omakase (chef's choice) here. For a reasonable price, their omakase will leave you feeling full. Their sashimi is fresh and some of their tuna I'm told are from Hawaii. Their chirashi bowl is also delish. Also, if you're so daring, try their blow-fish tail sake which is an excellent adventure. The employees here are very friendly and the establishment is very clean. Overall, a great place to grab sushi/sashimi.

  • Catherine Z.

It was really good! My only complaint is that they do not have tamari (aka gluten free) sauce! Every sushi place that I've been to recently has carried it, which makes a huge difference in the enjoyability of the food. I got the Paradise roll (minus the sauce of course) and it was beautifully presented and delicious.

I've been coming here for about a year and I really enjoy the quality in the sushi. It's a real Japanese style sushi restaurant with an expert chef. Good choice of Sake. Friendly staff.

  • Max L.

I am a regular customer. This restaurant is very good. Staff are nice. Food is fresh and tasty. My favorite when I am hungry is the Kaiseki Bento Box (dinner). It is not cheap but there are a lot of food including sushi, sashimi, tempura and cooked salmon and chicken. Their rolls are good too. I recommend Salmon Nitro Roll and Energy Roll. I was never charged for tea. The other review says she was charged for tea. I think she ordered something special.

Wow the sushi here is so awesome . Hamachi kama is 5 stars perfectly cooked. Sashimi and service is so good. Would recommend to any one looking for fresh fish at a great price.

Went there for lunch and their selection of rolls and sushi was pretty good. I sat at bar since I was solo. I ordered Tiger Rolls and the following Nigiri's: Salmon, eel, smoked (torched) salmon. All of the them were really tasty and fresh. I was full after eating of these things. I would recommend this place for sushi if you are in this area.

Great sushi. Good service. Been coming here for 10 years now. It's my go to place for sushi on the east side. Works well for sushi newbies and experts alike.

  • Stef M.

Went for lunch, ordered the bento. It wasn't that busy. My food didn't come out until everyone else was almost finished with their food. Kitchen timing is obviously off. The tamagoyaki (egg omelet) that came with it tasted like it had either been frozen and defrosted, or has sat next to some onions in the fridge for far too long - it definitely wasn't fresh. The teriyaki salmon was overcooked and didn't taste fresh, either. Tempura shrimp tasted off, and all the tempura items in the bento were oily. To compare, I had the bento lunch at I love sushi recently and it was fresh and delicious for the same price. The nigiri sushi was just OK. Miso soup was good, but it's hard to mess that up. If you find yourself in this strip mall, do yourself a favor and get some ramen next door instead. You will be much happier.

Very Good! The sushi rice is in the right temputure, right size with big piece of fresh sashimi. I have been going there on and off about 13 years. Always feel satisfied with my sushi. Kitchen food are ok too. But it's the sushi, make me keep visit there!

Well, our old favorite sushi place closed down (RIP Sushi Ten, I will miss your "all you can eat sushi" for $25). My Dad went on and on about this place, and I blew him off...numerous times *hangs head low*. My Dad asked me out to dinner to catch up, he suggested John Howie. I said booya lets go. Half way there, he said "You know, screw Howie, lets go Tuna House" I agreed to try it. Best decision ever! How's it possible to be soooo full on sushi, and still want more? It was delicious. We ordered about 8 different rolls between all 3 of us, all were insanely tasty. We got down on some miso soup- steaming hot. Diet coke comes in a can with a glass of ice. Some of these rolls I could only probably come up with if I was high as a kite. Tons of ingredients, lots of mayo, and deep fried deep fry rolls. But they all worked and didn't come off as lazy or over the top. Volcano roll lives up to the hype and is "erupting" with lobster! My favorite roll was the Salmon Nigiri... although it wasn't the most creative item on the menu and you can find it at any sushi joint, it was my top pick because it was so FRESH. I mean Fresh!! I questioned if they had a salmon tank in the back and sliced it up to order. Salmon Nigiri:::: Perfect marbling of fat, a touch of wasabi, and the rice... oh man the rice. I think I could be a poster child for this roll. Me, with my hair blown back a bit with a piece of salmon in my hand (just like the Kronos posters!!) Still not convinced? The service was outstanding. Every single employee in that restaurant was friendly, attentive, and quick. If this is my last Yelp review ever, I must say I am glad it was Tuna House. You lose again, John.

My husband is Japanese and we have tried many Sushi restaurants and Tuna House is our favorite by far. The sushi chef Manibu is great, so sit at the sushi bar if you can. I highly recommend the Tekka Don it is our favorite go to dish. My only wish is that they were open for lunch on Saturdays and watch the hours of operation because they are very limited.

ROLL BABY ROLL!!! As a lover of Japanese food but Sushi only in the form of rolls, I would highly recommend ordering rolls at Tuna house. They have a great variety and they are fresh with great quality ingredients mixed with great creativity. We had the Kamikaze (which was my favorite) and The Tiger eye, which was also very good. My husband, who happens to be a sushi and sashimi lover had the sushi and swears it is great, amazing quality sushi that you would find in traditional restaurants in Japan, and he's travelled to Japan quite a bit. The reason I am not giving this place a 4 is that service is ok, but nothing really special and the ambiance (even though traditional japanese, once again, according to my husband), it is definitely not up to par with my expectations for a restaurant to whom I would give a 4 or a 5. The decor is very plain/low end. The layout is a bit odd and the restaurant was freezing. When we told the server she agreed but did nothing to offer to change that. Overall, great value and quality and definitely a place to try and go back to, but not a place for an amazing date, a special night out, etc. I also noticed they have a larger room at the back for parties which is nice when you have a larger group.

The food was outstanding!!! The next time I'm in Bellevue I'll make sure I go there and take all my business associates there as well. Great ambience, great food, great service at a great price.

  • Alma B.

Did not enjoy the sushi at all! Huge pieces that fall apart so easily and the sashimi didn't taste that fresh either. It was over priced and did not get good service. The waitress kept trying to rush us to order pay and leave it was pretty annoying. If they would of at least given us better service, I would have given them another star. Im not coming back to this place, it isn't worth it. There's way better sushi out there and it is definitely NOT HERE.

This is our new favorite sushi place in Bellevue. We are willing to drive 30-40 minutes round trip, depending upon traffic, from West Bellevue to get take out from Tuna House! It's that good. Don't leave without trying the super nitro roll!

    (5)
  • Vi L.

Rotten tuna, poor service and food poisoning. What else do you need to know? We were relegated to the dark back area near the bathroom, perhaps because we came with a baby. Their only saving grace was that they ran after us to give us a toy our daughter had dropped.

  • Tani S.

Meh...we've had much better sushi and the service was really off. Despite arriving to a fairly empty restaurant (only one table occupied), we were seated in the back of the restaurant near the kitchen since we had a toddler with (a well behaved toddler but child nonetheless). I was willing to overlook that but the sashimi wasn't that great. One of the pieces of Izumi tai had a fairly fishy taste to it and the tuna wasn't as flavorful as I've had despite the steep price of the dish ($25). Flo's in Bellevue was much better with fresh wasabi as well accompanying the plate. The rolls were so-so but what caps the odd experience is my husband has a bad tummy afterwards as do I...our first time with something not quite sitting right after a Japanese dinner :(.

I am not going to claim I am a Sushi aficionado, but I am kind of surprised this restaurant hasn't received only perfect scores. I have been coming here for the last two years with my wife as this is easily our favorite sushi place in Seattle/the Eastside. The sushi is extremely fresh and besides the normal rolls (California, Dragon roll, etc) they also have some really good creative rolls such as the Volcano roll and my favorite, the Tiger Eye roll. The staff at Tuna House are also very attentive and very friendly which is nice. So again, I haven't eaten at every sushi place in the area, but I have been to plenty and Tuna House is hands down my favorite.

Not for omakase. Come here for the mid grade rolls and the blowfish sake, but the sashimi isn't their specialty.

  • Dave H.

Consistently fresh, and excellent sushi and sashimi. The dinner bento box is superb, and is a BIG dinner, with a little of everthing, and not one item included is disappointing. Okay, the meat balls are a bit odd, but still good. ;) I have gone here for years, and Manabu-san is great. If you can't decide, try the sushi/sashimi combo. Their tempura is expertly done here as well.

    (4)

Overall decent sushi/sashimi. It is a bit over priced for their quality and quantity. However, the various rolls are good and better values.

Was there in August when I was back home for a friend's wedding. Came here with the family and the bf and had a great time as expected. Tuna House has a great consistency which has my family's continuous business since 2002. Fish is always great and the service even more awesome. Price is a bit higher than sushi restaurants but it is worth the authenticity and the food and service you get. I recall instances when we would come in a big group and order several omakase boats and they were nothing short of amazing, they would not lower the quality due to the high quantity and that makes them great. This time we came for several roles and a mixed sashimi dinner plate. They were all so tasty you really need to check out my photos :) the sashimi was so good especially the hamachi we ordered another plate of it! Satisfying meal! Great for a good night out or celebration. We'll definitely be back for this one! ===================== 1 star - "will be telling everyone to stay away" bad 2 stars - it's okay, i won't return 3 stars - it's okay, i'll come back 4 stars - it's pretty good, i'll come by again! 5 stars - it's really good, my go-to places!

There were no excited "irrashai masse's" upon entering like restaurants I've been to in Japan or even in the ID. However, the customer service from the waitresses were really attentive and friendly. The sushi chef didn't acknowledge us when we first arrived as he was busy speaking Japanese to a customer at the sushi bar. The sencha was piping hot and kept coming. I had the sushi combination, which I would have rated a 5 star if it hadn't come with a California Roll. I really wanted something more authentic than that. The presentation was really amazing...5 stars for that. I would go back and given that it's five-minutes away from work this would be an easy place to visit again. I love sushi and the sushi was really delish here!

I am a big sushi enthusiast and have been to an embarrassing number of sushi restaurants in the Seattle metro. This place has recently become one of my favorites as the combination of great service, good prices, and tasty food is pretty hard to find. I like maki and their rolls are very good: anything from the simple avocado roll and all the way to caterpillar roll. Sashimi is good too: decent portion sizes and not too expensive. I prefer to take out rather than sit in, but either way it's not fast. All in all, worth a visit if you are nearby.

  • George I.

Went there for lunch with my coworkers. Service : not bad not excellent. Average Food: I ordered the chirashi bowl. Any other places I been to (Sushi bay in Queen Anne, Musashi's) the amount of seafood is a lot more and fresh. Here was dissapointed from the food quality and quantity. Price: Overpriced for what you get Parking: plenty of parking

Not very often you get to see cool sushi chefs sporting crooked hats on... and they looked good with it, too! ;) I forgot what I ordered; what I get for catching up on 10+ receipts at once. =| I do remember it was good and satisfying. Fresh and presented well. Pleasant service. Cool atmosphere. Some folks next to me at the sushi bar were talking about their japan adventures which was cool. me recommend. thumbs up yo.

  • Miao M.

Fish is OK. Sometimes very fresh but not always. Miso soup here is however the best. Service is average, with major misses at times. The best value is probably the bento boxes. They don't use the best fish in sushi combos or bento. Order sushi individually and the quality would be much better - at least that is what I observed. Of course you will pay more this way. OMAKASE DINNER is pretty decent. 24 hour reservation is required though.

  • Stephanie W.

What do you consider "authentic Japanese" sushi bar? Well, the one's i've gone to normally have a Mexican doing the rolls, a Korean at the Cash Registers, and a white guy taking your order. Don't worry, this place has japanese people taking the order, rolling sushi, and collecting the monies.... Despite it being a bit higher in price...it's pretty Authentic...and you get what you pay for...so it's well worth it!!! Check it out!

  • Nelson Y.

I had quite high expectations and while I went for a weekend lunch, I didn't see a lot of wellpriced nigiri so I went for the chirashi bowl. The chirashi bowl is a much better deal at Musashi's, however, Tuna House does have toro as part of it. Thinly sliced sashimi though.

  • Andre M.

I went last night and have been throwing up all night after the meal. The fish is not fresh, it tasted like fish oil (indicating it has gone bad). Service was ok, but how can you serve food that would cause poisoning? The chef obviously cuts corners and doesn't care about quality or the health of his clients.

  • Adam C.

Holy crap that was good food! Went to this hidden Bellevue gem the other day with the family and my in-laws. Every one had a blast. The sushi and sashimi was fantastic. The kids box was a good value. The cooked items were superb. The service was top notch. I highly recommend this place. ENJOY!!!

This is the only place I will go to get sushi on the Eastside. I have never gotten something that wasn't wonderful, I'm always happy when I leave. Service is great, location is getting a little crazier now that the shopping center is remodeled, but I'll keep going!

  • Sean C.

I love good sushi. I know several high-end places that I can get fantastic sushi, but with at an equally high price. Tuna House is the place I go when I'm craving good sushi, but don't want to spend a lot. It's reliably good.

Being a native to San Francisco I have high standards of sushi. This little jewel was a pleasant find while visiting family this past January. I highly recommend the house roll and the tear drop roll, these were the two favorites of the six different ones we tried. The service was excellent and the food very filling. I look forward to visiting again the next time I'm in town.

  • Hiroshi M.

There's nothing worse to me then having something like Chirashi with fish that's cut SO thin that you can almost see thru. Their service and prep on their food is nice and the menu is pretty good. I just like nice thick cut fish.

  • Mac F.

Relunctantly giving Tuna House 3 stars. (Not quite 4) I had their tonkatsu, my wife tempura and we got a "nitro roll" as an appetizer to share. Entrees were quite good. The roll, however, did not come out until midway through our dinner, though we specifically said we'd like it as an appetizer. Also, we are not a real fan of sushi rolls smothered by stuff and sauce on the top. Just too messy to eat, for one thing. Service was good -- attentive and friendly. Restuarant, nice and clean, but seating a bit odd, very narrow mid section (with two person tables) makes it feel a bit claustophobic. However, in general, Tuna House appear authentic Japanese, unlike susbstantially all "japanese" resturants in the area which run by Koreans who has no clue as to Japanese cuisine.

I have been coming to Tuna House for 10+ years now and I'm mystified by the 2 star ratings that question the freshness of the fish as I have never had a bad fish experience here and the freshness of the food has spoiled me for other sushi restaurants. I love sushi and have tried most in Seattle over the years. We keep coming back here. We are very regular customers and love this place. Food: I usually get chirashi and the chef customizes the fish to whatever I'm in the mood for. Expect an additional charge if you order all salmon, but it's worth it. The pieces of fish are large and luscious and I leave stuffed. My husband usually orders rolls and his favorite is the Volcano roll and the salmon roll. Service: The service here is very efficient. Yes, you will get the bill very quickly, but we have found this is to make sure you are in and out on your own time. I have never been rushed or hustled out and my tea is never empty. We've never been held over during a lunch hour and we've dawdled over saki and good conversation for hours. Kids: Very kid friendly. We have an extremely well-behved pre-schooler who has been coming here since he was born. Waitresses are very kind to him and the loves rice, noodles and chicken dishes. Having him along has never been an issue. Simply one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle and by far the best sushi I've ever had, hands down. Give this place a try!

I came here a couple of times with my wife as I live near by and had an average of 4-star rating and I am a regular at the near by Szechuan Chef. These are one of the places where the Yelp rating needs an audit... No offense to the recent reviewers, but have you guys tried real Japanese food? Not sure if the ownership has changed, but quality and the price are really not matching and what yelpers reviewed in early 2011 aren't matching up to what I experienced. I think one of the rolls I ordered was put in the microwave, if not it tasted that way or as other yelpers mentioned, the chef could have been too busy (the couple of times I came for dinner there were only 3 other tables filled). The waiter looked to be the owner's son and a bit too young to do work, he didn't seem like he knew what he was doing and came back twice to re-take my order. I don't think a restaurant should charge $20 for udon when they are using frozen noodles... Not sure of the freshness, but the fish I had tasted a little old and the texture was off. - Don't believe they use fresh ingredients, but it could be an off day when I visited - Prices are too expensive for the quality

I love Tuna House!! THE BEST SUSHI RESTAURANT IN EASTSIDE AREA. I've been coming to TunaHouse about for 4 years and their fish is always fresh! I never had a bad experience in this restaurant. Service is really quick, polite, and friendly. I came in Saturday night and the restaurant was already full around 6:30pm. The restaurant is always busy on Friday, Saturday night, so I recommend to make a reservation. Don't leave without Kamikaze, Salmon nitro, and Volcano roll!! And also, octopus sunomono and seaweed salda!!!

Very poor service. Food is ok but we are very unhappy with their hospitality. We came with our kids and they made us sit at the back of the restaurant. We didn't like the seat cos it was very squashy but they said our very calm kids could cry and it would affect not other customer!!! I put the diaper bag under the table and she pushed in under my seat without asking and unkindly said we should not put it there. Well, the bag is not large and there is no way it can obscure the walkway. So that wasn't great. We didn't get out tea until after a long wait and we felt that they were trying to rush us out. We wanted to order more after we finished our dishes and asked for the menu. While I was talking with the kids, the waitress asked if we were going to order more. Feeling unsatisfied with the experience, we declined and within 5 seconds, the bill is in front of us. Throughout the entire hour, they didn't give us any tea refill (but did that for tables around us). I asked for some tea and was only given half a cup! That said something, right? And while they were cleaning up the table (boy messy at all even we had kids), i can see their flat and complaining face. Don't think we would come back.

Tuna house was just okay, nothing really made it amazing but it wasn't bad. The food was okay and the service was friendly. Not a place that I would frequent, it's worth trying at least once.

I was really surprised by several of the reviews mentioning bad service. Granted, I came in here later in the evening and sat at the sushi bar alone, so I didn't really require much in the way of service. The service for me was great. I was sat immediately upon coming in, given the menu and green tea. The sushi chef behind the counter was very attentive and provided everything I ordered quite quickly. He was also very knowledgeable about the fish and how fresh/new it was and what would taste the best. The rolls were good, I typically stick to simple things like Salmon/Tuna etc. I also had some Miso soup, which albeit is tough to mess up, and it was hot and tasty. While I was eating the chef checked in several times, and even spoke a few words of Japanese with me and humored my terrible white person accent. All in all, I have to say this place was well worth a visit and I'm really surprised to see the multiple reviews claiming terrible service. Maybe I was lucky, but I'd certainly return and definitely plan to do so. Bonus for me, they are about the only place in the Kelsey Creek mall that will take an American Express.

I have driven by this place like everyday for the past two years always thinking (well my friend said it was good, i'll have to try it sometime)....yet never stopping by. After a Costco run and deciding I didn' t want to each a sandwich for lunch for my sixth day in a row this week...I decided to stop in. Katsudon (pork cutlet with fried egg over rice) for only $8.50...sounds good to me. I walk in and see their lunch special is some tempura (with shrimp), rice, miso soup, pickles, and udon noodle soup for only $10....Woah!....Stay strong Gavin! Katsudon kudasai. oh and some red snapper nigiri (two pieces $4.00). My Katsudon was delicious, and it came with some pickles and miso soup. Hot tea was also included. Making my total bill $12.50+tax. Wow that's pretty good for lunch considering how much food I got, and the food was delicious. Service was also quick and friendly, hot tea frequently refilled. I'm not sure how the dinner prices and/or quality/variety is at Tuna House. But I definitely plan to go back for some more lunch specials. Daremo Wa Nihon No Gohan O Tabetai Desu Ka? Hai! Maguro Taku E Ikimashou!!! ~G

Ordered sushi and sashimi combo, spider roll, dragon roll, rainbow nitro and salmon nitro. The nitro rolls were good, the rest was average. The staff was very friendly, and decor is ok.

The Tuna House has great Sushi. The quality and freshness of the fish is great. My only compliant is they tend to over do it on rolls with imitation crab inside. And the rice on the rolls can get a little sloppy when the Chef gets busy. But the important stuff (the fish) is good quality. I've gone here multiple times on various business trips and they don't disappoint. I like the Rainbow Roll and the House Roll. The Salmon roll is really good and a great value if you are looking to save a little money.

I love going to eat at the Tuna house, I eat here often and enjoy my experiences every time with polite service and delicious food. I did not like sushi or tuna very much until I started going to Tuna house which has the best tuna I have ever had. Every time I go to the tuna house I always sit at the counter where the chef makes your food right in front of you. I always prefer to eat my food there rather than take it to go. I always get the same thing, which is a special roll that Manabu the chef makes for me which is kind of a mix between a California roll mixed with a TT roll. I have also tried many other rolls and appetizers that they have and I have never had anything there that I did not like; their miso soup and cucumber salad are also very good. Their food is consistently fresh and tastes good every time. The chef Manabu is extremely good at his work and is very nice, the service there is good everyone who works there is nice. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and I do recommend tuna house to all of my friends and family. There prices are not that high for the quality of the food that you receive and the amount of food you receive. They also have a lunch and dinner menu, where lunch is cheaper and the lunch ends at 2 O'clock.

The Tuna House, without a doubt, is my favorite sushi restaurant in the universe. There was a time I ate here at least once a week, which probably means I'll die of mercury poisoning soon. Nevertheless, my impending death will be totally worth it. I suppose I would make a nice thermometer in heaven (or hell in the event Saint Peter is a salmon... for I have committed salmon genocide here.) This place consistently has the freshest fish out of any sushi place I have ever been to. Sure, some fish is fresher on some nights than others, but things are consistently good. If you speak to the wonderfully nice chefs they will recommend whatever fish is freshest. I virtually only ever get the sushi/sashimi special which comes with the perfect amount of fresh fish, one of my all-time favorite salads, rice, and miso soup. It's the little details that make the place stand out like the fresh and never overpowering wasabi, the slightly sweet pickled ginger, and the house salad dressing that is probably overlooked by most people but is to die for. I honestly don't get reviews that complain about bad service; or reviewers who really only ever talk about service. Are you people used to others wiping your butts or something? Perhaps your mom still does that, I dunno and don't really want to know. I've been here countless times and the service has always been great. Maybe they don't wear 30 pieces of flare and make the fake small talk you are used to at Applebees or wherever you eat, but the staff here has always been professional and sincere. Also, yes they don't have a 50 page menu here but I have tried everything on the menu, at least twice, and everything is there because it is damn good. You can't go wrong with anything here. Maybe there is a better sushi place in some back alley in some obscure Japanese fishing village but this place is off of 148th in the sad shopping center that once hosted a K-Mart. As long as I'm stuck in the Eastside this is my spot.

This review is a 3.5 (Yelp, get on it and allow half stars already!!) In a nutshell, excellent sushi and merely adequate izakaya-style food. I've tried a number of sushi types here, and each one has been consistently fresh, well-prepared and served with nice presentation. Service is prompt and courteous. The owners and kitchen staff are all Japanese, which is a plus -- the Japanese focus on quality applies broadly, at least as far as the sushi goes. Unfortunately, that standard does not extend to the regular food items -- such as the salmon teriyaki, or the katsudon. As a staple of any homestyle Japanese restaurant in Japan, a good katsudon is absolutely necessary... but at Tuna House, the katsudon is served with cutlets that are simply too thin, poorly breaded (the breading breaks off before you can even eat it -- something that should never happen with good katsu!), and the meat itself is consistently overcooked. Located as it is next to the exceptional Szechuan Chef, I am hard-pressed to patronize Tuna House unless I'm REALLY in the mood for great sushi -- and in the event I (or you!) are, Tuna House definitely deserves your business. Just don't expect too much from the traditional food menu!

New location...same great food! When I saw that Tuna House had moved (just to the other end of the strip mall) I got a little nervous that things had changed at my favorite sushi restaurant. Not to worry! Same great sushi (thanks Chef Manabu) - really love the Tiger Eye roll, White Tuna and Hamachi Nigiri and the Udon and Tempura is top notch. Definitely a family fave!

Not a fan of rolls with cream cheese and other fancy stuff. I love just straight raw fish and this place delivers. Very fresh melt in your mouth fish. Service is nice, plus it is real Japanese folks who work there. Not that other folks cannot do real sushi but it is nice. They even got me to like raw octopus, I've never had it as good as they do it.

  • Rebecca S.

This is definitely my favorite sushi bar in the area. Sure the location is kind of lame, but there's plenty of free parking, so I'm not going to complain. The fish here is the most fresh I've ever had. I'm picky about sashimi - if it tastes too fishy or is slimy, I won't eat it. That said, I'll eat anything here. The prices here are a bit high, but for the quality and portions, it's well worth it and if you come for the lunch special (see my picture), you can get a good sized plate for $11.95. If you take advantage of their stamp card, you can get free meals here too. Oh, and the green tea is so flavorful and good. I also really like the sushi chef, Manabu. He always seems to give us something extra. Last time I was there, he gave me a bowl of the green flying fish eggs because I never had them. He also gave us five spicy tuna pieces, even though the menu states you only get four. Another time I went, he gave us a few pieces of sashimi that we didn't even order. Oh and one time on my birthday, he gave me a frozen mochi. If you want top-notch sushi, Tuna House is a must.

Was really unimpressed with this place...the sushi rolls were small and lacked flavor. The sodas cost $1.75 for a can. No ambience either, which is ok if the food is good, but it's not...couldn't wait to get out and go to menchies frozen yogurt across the parking lot.

Was here on a Friday night and it was full. Service is excellent as we had an older lady who was sincerely trying to make our experience good. The menu was decent, not very extensive especially if you are looking for more izakaya style dishes. We ordered the Octopus sunomono, miso soup, the tiger eye roll and another roll. I got to say, I was very very impressed with how fresh the Octopus tasted. I usually don't eat cucumbers but I ate the whole thing! The rolls were also good and priced reasonably. However, after a few pieces, I got tired of the sweetness of the mayo/ teriyaki sauce. I should have ordered something that wasn't so sweet so I can actually taste the quality of the fish. Well, there is always next time as I plan to come back here again! Keep on eating, diners!

I love this place. It ties Sushi in Joy for my favorite sushi restaurant in Bellevue. Pretty decent atmosphere, generally good service, and great food. I originally came in for dinner because of the great roll selection. I think the Tiger Eye roll was my favorite, and my only complaint was that a few of the rolls might have had too much sauce on top, but that's easily remedied. These days, I come in for lunch. The daily bento display at the door always looks appetizing, but I find myself always ordering the deluxe bento off of the menu. For about $12, you get california roll, two pieces of nigiri, chicken karage, fried fish, a piece of egg omelet, salmon teriyaki, and salad/miso. There's also a frequent diner card for lunch, buy 10 get 1 free, or something like that. In response to some of the other reviews: -A LOT of Asian/Indian restaurants have health code violations. -Tuna House and Sushiland aren't in the same category of sushi, so it's not really a fair comparison.

Chefs Hiro and Manabu are AMAZING! Sugoii Ne!!! The food here is always the freshest, highest quality or they don't serve it. i don't usually like to talk to strangers, but you always feel at home here. Tell Manabu what you like at the sushi bar and he'll surprise you with your favorite in a way you've never tasted before! Best Sushi in Seattle area. I found this place by asking an exclusive line-caught tuna fisherman who his most discriminating customer was. Try it - love it - be a regular (if your lucky to live near by).

Ate here after a loooooong night of studying. I'm a fan of driving in the city and finding a place right on the spot to eat. And there I was at Tuna House! I chose the sushi bar since I was a loner and.... Love to watch the pros behind the counter. 1. Food was excellent 2. Service extremely friendly 3. Mr. Manabu paid great attention to me and every other customer about the food quality and quantity :D Also engages in conversation with pretty much every person eating in front of him. Hmmm.. Maybe one could call him, Sensei? Lol jkjk Great experience. Definitely coming back for more.

The sushi is good! I recommend the Teardrop Roll. YUM! But the quality of the sushi is probably better found at I Love Sushi. The quantity is also a little disappointing for what you pay for. The place is quaint and very calm and soothing. Service can be slow, which is a definite minus.

I've only been here once, and while the restaurant was decently packed and the service was really polite and prompt, I didn't really experience anything to make me really want to come back other than it being super close to where I live. I ordered the chirashi for ~$20, and while it was definitely more on the affordable side with some elements to the dish I don't usually see (scallop, sesame seeds on the rice), I didn't really feel impressed with the quality or presentation of the fish I was served compared to say, Ginza.

After hearing that Iron Chefs make sure to stop here whenever they are in the area, I was expecting the best- man was I wrong! We got the volcano roll, a california roll, 2 miso, and then I got one of the sushi combos. The volcano roll was basically a canned tuna roll covered in a mayo-seafood salad, topped with different sauces (mayo based) and fish roe. It was plain nasty and it cost 13 bucks! The california roll was nothing exceptional, something I would have payed $2 for 4 pieces at any other sushi bar in the area. It was $8 for 8 pieces... I'm not quite sure how the Tuna House thinks they have the right to charge twice as much as the competition. Then my plate came out full of nigiri- 10 pieces that is for $15. I was excited to try real nigiri (where the chef puts wasabi between the fish and the rice), how its done in japan. The wasabi was more of a mayo consistency than the sinus clearing paste I have come to love. There was nothing exceptional about a single piece of fish. Thats not to say the fish wasn't fresh, it just didn't stand out like the Coho salmon does at Sushi Land. I hear there are mayo bars in Japan where they dip anything and everything in mayonnaise that is heated in a fondue bowl. If that is your ideal place to spend a friday night than by all means, try any roll on the menu at Tuna House. If you are more sane and don't eat things that are a mystery to you, stay far away. My date and I weren't even full and we dropped $52 bucks for lunch. I am glad I went because now I can say it was nasty and I literally haven't eaten mayo in the 2 months since dining here. Sure the service was great and the miso was alright, but I wouldn't come here again if it was free.

The Tuna House has really good sushi. The services is extremely friendly and attentive. Although the atmosphere could use some improvement, the overall experience is great. I think it is very reasonably priced for all the sushi they serve. The rolls are huge!

In sushi, it's about the taste and texture. Don't get distracted by others' gimmicks of a trendy atmosphere or the bar's selection, so just start with the basics. I took the Kaiseki Bento, from a friend's rec, and was treated to a combo box full of sushi, sashimi, california and tuna roll samples, tempura, and other hot foods. It was definitely fresh and tasty. I was worried it'd be too much food, but I couldn't stop. I think it's my addiction to the fresh tuna and salmon. In any case, I also helped myself to a Spider Roll. Yum! I'd give this place the full-five if the wait staff weren't passive-aggressive about us hurrying up. Apparently I'm not alone, but I won't let that bother me from enjoying their food again.

The Tuna House is, hands down, my favorite place to get sushi. I love sushi, and I try to explore as many places around the greater Seattle area as I can. I have been to over a dozen in Seattle and the Eastside, and the Tuna House is the best for a few simple reasons. First, quality. I have always foud the quality at this restaurant to be exceptional. The fish always tasted fresh, and the rolls are expertly made by Manubu, one of the friendly and very professional sushi chefs here. Secondly price. The price for the quality here is downright amazing. The volcano roll, my favorite, can be had for 10 dollars, and that roll alone is enough to fill up most people. Lastly, the environment. The service and environment is just what I am looking for in a sushi restaurant. It completely avoids the pretentiousness that often is found in restaurants on the Eastside, and while the decor is very nice, it avoids going over the top. In short, if you love sushi, there is no excuse not to check this place out.

Count me among those not able to understand the low-star ratings that have been given recently, as this place is just about as authentic as you can expect to get in the Puget Sound. The sushi was excellent and the other dishes we've tried (The Edamama Gyoza Karaage and Salmon Teriyaki) were excellent and well above-average for Japanese places on the Eastside, most of which use the same stock ingredients to create food that tastes exactly the same no matter where you go. Not the case for Tuna House, where everything had its own distinct flavor and, better yet, that flavor was actually good. I also actually appreciated getting the bill and having dishes taken away immediately throughout the meal whenever we finished something. I'm the kind of person who hates restaurants where you're expected to wave your waiter over for the bill or wait a while for it or something. The way they do it here means you have the option of getting out quickly if you need to or waiting a while before you slip your card into the bill tray. We happened to want to leave quickly on our visit, so it worked out. Overall, excellent food, good service, and one of the few authentic Japanese places around here (My girlfriend, who is something of a Japanese food expert, assures me most of them are actually just Korean knock-offs, which time and time again proves to be true whenever we try a place). Definitely will be making a trip back here again.

I have not been to Tuna House for a long time. It used to be my alturnative when I Love Sushi, Bellevue (not Lake Bellevue) was alwasy pack and had a long line. I came back on a Friday night,. I saw a decent room of people but empty sushi bar. At the sushi bar looking at the sashimi in the countertop refrig, it was pretty empty for Friday night at around 715pm. I ordered Paradise Roll without sesame seed (my skin does not respond well with it), Salmon nigiri, Spicy Scallop and miso soup. P Roll arrived with sesame seed. -I accepted it anyway because the chef is really busy and he is the only chef there. -The rice layer was very uneven overall. Chef was making all sushi in a lightening speed. In another word, not much love in the making. How can I tell? From the way he sliced the fish and seafood are layering around on the back counter. The way chef smeering the rice on the seaweed, It just does not look right, Taste: OK for a quick bite Enjoyment: Not very Service: From waiter is good but chef is too busy to make all the dishes Notes: Seared sushi costs extra $0.25 Teri Rice (Rice with Teriyaki sauce) $2.00

I am a big fan of this place. I've been going since 2002. Manabu is one of the chefs and he always takes great care of me and friends. Its best to take a small group, sit at the counter, and avoid the dinner rush. The prices are low, the fish quality is high, the flavor of the rolls and sashimi are great.(wonderful sauces and the like). Manabu has even taken to making a "special roll" with all the ingredients that my wife loves, and charges very little for this custom roll. Whatever you do...don't leave without trying the Tiger Eye Roll.

Good flavors. Different flavors. No specials. Two menus confused us. No blow fish. No freebies even tho we sat at the bar. In a lot of sushi bars the chef will make you little delights.

After reading all the reviews I drove on over expecting this place to blow my pants off. Here is what I walked away thinking The restaurant itself is very nice, very clean and contemporary with plenty of seating and a good sized sushi bar. The service was great! Quick and attentive. My hot tea never got below half and was always hot. Nice job.The sushi chef is Japanese, which is a big plus in any sushi joint and he was fantastic. The fish was good to very good but the variety was lacking. If you are a sushi novice this seems like a great place to put on the training wheels. They have plenty of the staple items like Hamachi, Maguro, Sake, Albacore, Ebi, Unagi etc. They had a lot of rolls on the menu but I am more a sashimi sort of person and also love Spanish Mackerel, sweet shrimp, Uni, Toro, i can see Tuna House as being great for a bite at lunch but if you are looking to experience a deeper sushi experience I'd say go elsewhere. A few more offerings and I'd have given it 3 stars for the food and 5 for everything else.

I'm a fan of Tuna House. Why? Well, my particular scenario is going there by myself for a bite before heading to a recurring meeting at Bellevue College. I usually have an hour to kill, so I'll go here and take my time to carefully choose and savor indiviual orders of sushi and rolls at the bar. Each item I've had here has been quite excellent in it's own way. Everything about the restaurant is very Japanese culturally. The decor is understated, sushi is expertly prepared, fish quality does show that the person who is making my Sushi is the same person who hand picked each fish from the supplier, and the whole place is rather calm and peaceful. The only thing that's over-the-top great, but not so Japanese, is the House Roll. I posted a picture of it so it can speak for itself. If you are seeking a chill kind of traditional Japanese sushi place to hang for a bit, this is the best option I know of around here.

I'll say the sushi chefs were talkative and entertaining... but other than that.. doubt I'll come back for the food or the stone-faced servers. The uni was good.. although it was sitting on too much rice. Tai and kanpachi were good as well... maybe nigiri sushi is good here. BUT the fish were all pre-sliced in the case and it wasn't even busy! :-( I saw which fish were presliced and avoided getting those at all costs. My bf got the nitro roll... I tried talking him out of it several times after I read the description... and after it came, he wished he hadn't. Just a bunch of unsightly raw fish thrown atop a shrimp tempura roll! Where's the presentation? Then came my nabeyaki udon... broth was good but the iron bowl was so wide I kept burning myself on it... and the tempura veg and shrimp in it was poorly done (read: way too much batter). My bf had his saba shioyaki... the fillet was dry and cut in like, 5-6 small pieces?!? *sigh* I wish I lived closer to Maneki :-(

My husband and I have been going here for over 3 years and we love it. We have had the best service at a table and at the sushi bar. Not only is the quality of fish here excellent, but the chef gives us special little tasters for free every time we have come in. Quality.

I went here for a wedding dinner last spring. It didn't strike me as the location of a top-notch sushi establishment, but rest assured- you won't find better sushi on the west coast. My buddy said he found the place by asking the fish mongers who their toughest customer was in terms of sushi chefs and this guy came up (I wish I could remember his name). Another anecdote- when the Iron Chefs come through Seattle it's said that they ALWAYS stop here for sushi. I wish I could give item recommendations, but the custom made platter I enjoyed was not anything I could recognize, even after more than a decade of sushi hunting.

The Tuna House is an average Japanese Restaurant, but do not expect have a value for your money. I ordered the Tonkatsu and some sushi, the Tonkatsu was OK, I had tasted better ones, and the sushi was not that fantastic. After one visit, I doubt I'll come back again. It has some potential but the sushi is far overpriced for the quality and the food does not attract me to return.

I didn't like this place. But I am not big on sushi, so perhaps I'm not the right person to ask... still, since you might drag your non-sushi friends out to this place with you, I might as well review it. :-) One reason to beware; in a January 2006 Health Department inspection, they had 50 points' worth of problems (a 75 gets a restaurant immediately closed), including three serious issues: - improper cold holding temperatures - improper methods used to prevent bare hand contact with ready-to-eat foods - room temperature storage, improper use of time as a control, procedures not available I had chicken teriyaki (my standard fallback position) and my daughter had chicken nuggets from the very limited kids' menu. Side dishes were excellent but the teriyaki sauce was very thin and bland, and the chicken was a bit skimpy and not very flavorful. If a Japanese restaurant can't make good teriyaki....... The chicken nuggets were so similar to McDonald's nuggets that it made me wonder. The sides that came with them were Japanese, including soup and vegetables, which was mostly OK with my kid but wouldn't fly with some others... no French fries here! My sushi friends got a huge assortment of stuff, including octopus, sea bass, tuna, and a few others that I don't remember. Definitely salmon too. They seemed happy enough and especially liked the California rolls and Tiger rolls. They got my daughter to try octopus and she pronounced it "too chewy" which is pretty impressive, considering that she loves calamari and almost every other kind of seafood. The service was good and we were seated quickly. The prices seemed a touch high to me but my sushi-loving friends seemed unphased.

Rating: 3.5/5. The sushi is really good - $$. We usually get the kamakazie roll, super nitro, tiger roll. I also love the miso soup and green tea here. We have ordered the bento box and they have a lovely house sauce!! You can also get some spicy sushi that is really good stuff! The reason for the 3.5 and not 4 rating is the customer service. We have gone there so many times and all the time it has been poor! Probably wouldn't go so many times....if not for the sushi!

This is by far my fav sushi restaurant; the service is great, but the food is the best! I've been to many sushi bars, but this one has the best rolls in town. Anything on the menu is good, and even my husband, who doesn't like sushi, will eat at this place. The volcano rolls are delicious, as is everything else. Be prepared to pay a little more for good sushi; it isn't a cheap sushi place. But I prefer quality anyway.

If you love tuna and creative tuna rolls coupled with good service -- this is your place! Good stuff -- great service!

Sushi is one of my favorite dishes. I must say that this place is amazing. It is hard to believe that it is in a strip mall located near an old k-mart (now an empty building). If I didn't know how good it is I probably would never go there. Prices are very reasonable for great food. The head chef is the former travel chef to the prime minister of Japan. I would recomend Tuna House to anyone that likes good Japanese cuisine. Regards, Adam D.

Tracy was right! you get a pow! for your money! No wonder they are called TUNA HOUSE! I love tuna and it rocks here! Not only do you get a beautifully designed dish but you will also get a tasty morsel to grasps your mouth around. You must try their Dynamite Roll! 8 rolls topped with Maguro Sashimi and flying fish eggs sprinkled with aveoli sauce! Their Paradise Roll is awesome as well! Must try it! they have a very light aveoli sauce! I would have given them a 5 stars if only the service was a little better, but what do you expect?

I just had lunch here for the first time the other day and was THRILLED. The place is cute, the miso soup is yummy. I got the sashimi plate- generous portions, great quality, so so yummy. My husband got the bento box and again, everything in it was fantastic. It was a little more expensive than lunch at other places, but totally worth it in terms of quality and service. We'll be back for sure!

Let me start by saying that individually-foil-wrapped Tic Tacs are a nice way to end a meal. Every once in a while we go to Tuna House, because it's pretty close to our house. The people there are friendly and give good service, but the quality of the sushi just isn't as good as some of the top places in Bellevue, such as Flo or I Love Sushi (either location.) The sushi is just _meh_, in other words. The rice is too sweet for my taste, and the "signature" rolls (like the Tiger Eye roll) are slathered with cloying, mayonnaise-based sauces. Ask for the sauces on the side, and you'll probably be happier with the result. The more traditional rolls and sushi are OK. The fish is generally fresh and of good quality, although we've had a few bad experiences with fishy-smelling seafood that seemed a little on the old side. Tuna House is an OK change of pace sometimes, but mostly I'm content to drive an extra 5 minutes to get something better.

The food here is excellent and reasonably priced. The sushi/sashimi combo is my favorite here. The fish is very fresh and the people are very nice. I highly recommend it.

The coworkers and I headed to lunch here and I am so glad that we did. I had the super nitro and a miso soup. The roll was delicious and HUGE - I was stuffed but it was so delicious that I ate every last bite. The spicy tuna on the roll was sooo good. Everyone enjoyed their food and had great things to say. We were seated immediately and the service was fast. Good food and with good service = good place for lunch.

Tuna House is a pretty standard little Japanese restaurant in just about every respect. The menu doesn't really have any surprises, but everything is reasonably priced and very tasty. Tuna House is not the most attractive Sushi place I've ever been to, but the food is really quite good! In fact, I'd go so far as to say it's the best sushi I've found on the East Side.

3 is a compromise between a 2 and a 4. The nigiri sushi (maguro, unagi, and spicy scallop) only rates a 2 because it was bland and flavorless; it saddened me. It was fresh, just flavorless. I don't understand how that can be. The Nabeyaki Udon was excellent and worth a 4. I probably won't be back here ever again.

Tuna House is a great alternative to Flo, also in the Bellevue area. I have never been disappointed with the food at Tuna House. The fish is fresh and the prices are very reasonable. I appreciate that they keep their rolls basic. This is the place to go for a solid sushi experience in Bellevue.

1st time I went there I really enjoyed the food. Enough so that I went back a month or two ago.. 1st visit 4-5 stars, this last visit, maybe one star... I have to give it one because the service was good. The food was just plain terrible. I hope I went on an off night or got the cheff on a bad day, but honestly i will never go back after that experience... it just really turned me off. (my wife agrees, .... for that matter I think my 3 year old son agrees also..)

Excellent sushi, the World Salmon Roll and the Nitro roll are rocking. Highly recommend this place, doesn't look like much on the outside, but very nice inside and of course great food.

This is our new favorite for sushi on the eastside. Quality of the fish is always very good, very fresh. We love taking our kids here as they love the kid's bento, not always easy to have a good kids option for sushi! Nice variety of rolls here if you like that and service is always friendly.

Whoa. That was amazing. The lunch we had there last week... my mouth still waters whenever I think about it. My father and I, two men raised on Japanese food (Obaasan's) were skeptical about good nihonryoori around the Bellevue neighborhood. We had figured that the Koreans probably owned any of the restaraunts in the area and usually that means the food is nothing like real Japanese food. The sushi rice is usually off, the nigiri, etc. Not this place. When we walked in, we were greeted by Japanese staff, including the sushi chefs. That's ALWAYS a good sign. We looked at he lunch special, this giant bento box with udon, cuttlefish katsu, a couple of pieces of sushi, a small salad, a chicken drummette, miso, and an orange.. for 10.95. Very well priced. We also ordered a couple of rolls. I forogot the name of the roll we ended up ordering, but it had tempura shrimp and spicy tuna in the middle, with spicy tuna and tempura crunchies on top. BOMB!!!!!!!!!! The bento box was amazing... although I would take points off of the udon as the broth was too sweet for my tastes. I think it was sweet because of the inari wrapper inside of the bowl. The drummette. whoa! (best joey lawrence impersonation). The katsu was fried perfectly.. the fish was extremely tender and tasty. They also serve bulldog katsu sauce.. a must for any fan of tonkatsu sauce (my personal fav is kagome). The sushi piece were also excellent. We walked away from the restaraunt very full and extremely happy witht he service, the taste, and the prices.

The first thing you notice as you walk into the restaurant is the special of the day. It is carefully wrapped up in saran wrap and displayed in a bento box. Special of the day often comprised of sushi rolls, udon, and some sort of deep fried goodness. As my thoughts drift to special of the day or spicy tuna, I am interrupted by the polite hellos shouted out in Japanese by the masterful and smiling sushi chefs behind the counter. The food is yummy and the portions are generous. Generous portions in Japanese food, that must be an oxymoron!! They also have a good variety of rolls and plenty of their own concocted specialties. All in all, it's a good sushi restaurant on the eastside when I don't have the energy to cross the bridge.

This has to be one of the best sushi places around here! My husband and I frequent this restaurant a couple times a month. The Salmon World Roll and the Tiger Eye Roll are our favorites! The prices are reasonable, the sushi is creative, the fish is extremely fresh and the sushi chef and the wait staff are extremely pleasant and chatty!

Excellent sushi--generous portions of fish, and just the right amount of rice. All the sushi rolls were nice and tight, and their presentation is very nice. The variety for their rolls were great, and every one is served with plenty of additional garnishing. All in all, my favorite sushi restaurant on the Eastside, and I've been to most of the sushi places around here and in town...

Locals highly recommended this place. They also said, go with omakase. Never did that before, but thought, hey, per diem baby. I'll just skip a couple night's meals. I sat at the bar, ordered one Asahi (tall) and the rest came from the chef. A couple of highlights: Monkfish Liver. Yes, that's right. The liver of a monkfish. Won't describe it, just want to say, fabulous. You have to try it. I hear it's a delicacy. The toro, in an appetizer and sashimi. The seared and fresh salmon. The "dessert" eel handroll. The eel was so tender and tasty, it just melted in my mouth. The low point was the mackerel, cooked, served with a sauce. They had a name for it, I call it cooked fish. Not what I seek out sushi to experience. Finally, bill was $95 w/tip. All depends on perspective. Gotta say, next time I'd order my usual mix of raw items, along with a Nitro roll (story with that too). Interesting little sidebar was the guy sitting next to me at the bar, who said he had moved to Seattle in 1932. He was full of suggestions on what to see in the area, plus he shared a few pieces of his Nitro roll. Gotta love being solo on the road. You get to see the very best of the human race.

You'll find tuna, maguro, chutoro & o-toro - gleaming in a well stocked sushi case. The big fish takes center stage in an eye catching, tongue pleasing "house roll" draped with tuna and albacore twinkled wasabi tobiko. The rolls here are delicious and the presentation of the rolls are pleasing to the eye & tummy. The quality of the fish is oh so fresh and the service is unbeatable.

This is one of my favorite sushi places on the Eastside. I've been going there for years. You can count on good quality and fresh sushi. The menu is simple and the service is consistently good. Lunch times can feel a bit rushed, so try dinner if you want a more relaxed sushi experience.

I enjoyed this place. We found this place by accident after realizing we didn't want to wait 30 minutes (or longer) to be seated at Szechuan Chef. Tuna House was just a couple of doors down. The waitstaff was attentive and conscientious about making sure the little things were being properly handled (like your water glass, empty dishes, etc.) but not at all suffocating. I also thought the sushi was OK. I'd rank it at medium grade.

I've been going to this place for years, and never been disappointed. Chef Manabu is one of the best sushi chef in the Seattle area. If you order Omakase (basically, chef's choice), you are in for an excellent treat. All of the nigiri sushi are great, and the rolls are delicious and look very 'artsy'. If you go there, don't miss the Volcano Roll, it's to die for.

This place is gooood (so good that it deserves a couple of extra "O's"). They have a decent bento box special, flavorful nigiri sushi, yummy miso soup, and one of the best spicy tuna rolls that I've tried. My husband, a non-sushi eater, really enjoys the grilled mackerel meal. Definitely worth a visit!

Tuna House is the best sushi on the Eastside. The rolls are fabulous. Try the Tiger Eye roll and the Super Nitro roll. The fish is always incredibly fresh. The place is pretty much no frills but the service is good and the prices are very reasonable for what you get. Yum!!

This is the best, freshest sushi I've found in the area. The service is great and the presentation is top-notch. My only complaint is that it can get pricy fast, but I guess you get what you pay for.

  • Russ H.

Another excellent sushi bar in Bellevue. More traditional than I Love Sushi on 8th Ave., Sushi House is also pricier. However, after your first bite, you'll know why you're paying the extra money.
