The pho here is fine, not nearly the best, but at least consistent and always served hot. There are no vegetables to speak of in the soup, and none available to add (aside from mushrooms.) The menu is pretty much just pho, so don't come expecting to order hand rolls or rice dishes or anything like that. You do get a delicious cream puff per person, which is a nice bonus. As other people have noticed, the space here is pretty terrible... just an empty room with the door swinging open all the time freezing you with a blast of cold air. They don't take credit cards, so bring cash.

It's my fav! Best broth, quality meat. I eat here all the time.

The food is pretty decent. I mean for the price you can't really complain. But the service...if you want the worst service this is the place to go. It took them forever to take our order. In fact they took another persons order who came in after me. They never brought out my drink. They never brought us the check & when we went to the registered they were all to busy talking to kcnowledge us. After waiting some time we had to yell hey to get some to the register. So super annoyed @ the service here.

I wish they open later than 9 pm... Went there for the 1st time today. Ordered a medium Pho-Ga (chicken) it was larger looking than I expected for such a cheap price ($5.75). I even received a dessert to go with it from the beginning. I like the broth a lot. Waitress didn't bring much sprouts/veggies to the table but for that price, I couldn't complain. I'm sure if I ask for more, they would give it to me. Ambience, what ambience? It's just get-in and get-out place. I didn't expect much service either. Overall, it's not the best pho I've ever eaten but for the price, I'd give it four stars.

Food was good as usual like any other than brother restaurant, unfortunately the service that day was the worst I have ever experienced. The waitress was rude, never made eye contact, walked away as I ordering and tossed my plate on my table spilling contents every where. The quality of the food best fit it's price but I most likely will never go back to the Bellevue branch.

There is no comparison between this Pho Than Brothers establishment and the one in Capitol Hill, but it holds down the Vietnamese beef noodle soup category in an area in desperate need of one. The alternatives, that we know of thus far is What The Pho! closer to downtown Bellevue and, trust me, that is definitely not the place to go for worthwhile beef noodle soup. For those familiar with the restaurant chain this will all be review, but the small portions are about five dollars while the extra large bowls are about seven dollars. Our tip, however, is that ordering a medium with extra noodles or extra meat, depending on your preference, would be more worthwhile than ordering an extra large. Though it is served in a larger bowl, it seems that they usually skimp on noodles and meat and instead opt for more soup unless you happen to get lucky with the serving staff. The location is a bit obscure and parking is a bit hectic at times especially during lunch, but we recommend this place over any other beef noodle soup place in the area. Our order of choice always seems to be the Pho Tai Chin Nam Gau Gan Sach, the number fourteen, that has a bit of everything. So for anyone new to the Vietnamese beef noodle scene, it is a good choice for figuring out what suits your taste so you can order something that complements your palate during future visits.

This is my favorite chain of Pho places. Their veggie pho (although seriously lacking much veggie) is made with a veggie broth (unheard of). They have those killer cream puffs (I even once had a birthday cake made entirely of than brothers cream puffs and almond rocca) that you have child back from eating right away. And they have a tea blend that's amazing and I can't find a tea even remotely close to it for home tea brewing. The prices are slowly creeping up, but still worth it. They also stick to what they know, its a pho restaurant, that's all you get. Deal.

  • William T.

The guy serving there is rude and I will never come back because of him. The food is pretty bad too, the only thing I'll give them is good pricing. Other than that, I would not recommend this place if you want quality pho. Go down the street to Pho Hoa if you want good Pho, AVOID PHO THAN BROTHERS.

    (1)
  • J C.

The place itself is a bit run down but should be expected as it pretty much is a quick eat place that largely only serves Pho and drinks...as well as the puff pastries. Interior is a bit worn and does look like the floor could be vacuumed more often. Service was quick and Pho came out quick. Decent taste and definitely good price point. All in all, a fair experience. You really shouldn't come here to expect the best pho of your life. Instead, just a simple meal, done fairly decent, served quickly, and priced well.

I quite like the pho here (granted, I'm no expert), but this location's atmosphere is absolutely terrible. As mentioned in most other reviews, the service is atrocious, but the serving sizes and flavors would keep me coming back. Now I have another Than Bros close to me, so I'll go there, but this would suffice for a must-have pho craving, I guess. The banh choux are outstanding though!

You know what? Good pho... and at a good price but the service is pretty bad... well, at least the one on Leary Drive. They don't even treat you like a customer.... rather more like cattle.. in and out and they weren't even busy! The cashier/host tossed our menu's on the table and dropped the cream puffs (which were good)... the delicious pho came right away. Now, I know that many Vietnamese pho places aren't known for their stellar service... BUT we went back a week later at 11:15 AM (they open at 11 everyday) and the door was still locked. We were really craving pho so thought we could wait a little longer but wanted to make sure they would open soon.. we could see the woman in the kitchen and so I knocked on the window to get her attention. She looks at me for a little bit then looks away and completely ignores us! :-( So you know what? Good and cheap pho... but even though I live close to them, I won't be going back too often. I can cook so I'll prefer to give my money to those who care to earn it.

I used to always go to pho hoa until I found this place. It's much cleaner I felt and ingredients are fresher and broth tasted better and the custard puff they give you is awesome. Only downside is the menu is much more limited than pho hoa but who usually goes to a pho place for anything else right? :)

  • April S.

I like the Pho, but the service is just bad. I've been to this location at least a dozen times and I feel like I'm annoying them everytime I walk in the door. It is cheap, tasty and the cream puffs are a nice treat, but I'd rather pay a little more for a pleasant lunch experience.

This is exactly like the one on the ave near uw, but the price is a little more since it's in Bellevue.

  • wayne l.

Good pho. Only problem is that's all they have on the menu. I was hoping to have eggrolls or springrolls as an appetizer but no go. What they did have was really good pho. Just don't expect anything except your order of noodles. Also, it gets a bit drafty in there when you're sitting by the door. They should really put up some partitioners between the door and the tables. As soon as you walk in you almost get the feeling you walked into an office space.

Best Pho by a mile! I've tried 10+ different Pho Restaurant I have to give it to Than Brother. They have the best broth I've ever tasted in Pho. Loved the free cream puff, sometimes you may get extra if the waiter/waitress is in a good mood. I don't know about MSG in broth, can't tell the difference. The service is good, fast, and cash only makes payment fast too. Good place to eat if it's cold outside and if you're in a hurry. The only reason I ain't giving 5 is they keep increasing the price... It used to be $4 for medium, now $6. Also they need to give a bit more meat.

Okay i'm only part vietnamese, but I grew up on Pho all my life. And now that I'm an "adult" I can't have my mom's pho unless I'm in Guam, and making traditional pho takes too much time for my impatient @#$. And those instant pastes just don't make pho the same. So I'm always on the search for a good Pho place. I've heard from many people that in Seattle area..Than Brothers was the place to go. It looks like Than Brothers just opened a new location across crossroads area which is like 3 blocks from my apartment..so *ding* *ding* that's a perfect excuse to try out this chain. The atmosphere is pretty much like every other pho place i've been to, decently clean, menu under the glass, small place, not a lot of tables, but the turnover is quick enough to handle the amount of customers. Service..there was only two guys working, and working their ass off for the 25-30 people eating...looks like everyone got their orders taken quick, food brought out quick, waters refilled, and pay at the cashier. No complaints..friendly enough, very efficient, and being a pho joint..$2 or 10% is more than fair for any party. Take the above for standard tipping practice at true asian establishments as well as the pricing..and you got a screaming deal. Anywhere from $4.35-6.25 for a bowl of Pho ranging size Small to X-L. I had the large and found myself content (i eat like a pig)...I have a feeling the XL would leave me STUFFED to a dangerous point...the small was appropriate for my gf, who told me maybe an XS would even be okay. Onto the food. I was impressed. Most pho joints..well..truly fail in my view. Prices are usually high $7 for the equivelant of a Pho Than Brothers medium bowl, and the quality is lacking lots of oil/fat sitting on the top, very little meat and noodles, and soup that is waaay salty aka ..OLD, full of msg, and/or made from instant pho paste..and not from actual simmered oxtail, anise and onions. Yes Pho is really that easy to make, its a wonder why so many pho joints around the area still serve crap. This is NOT the case at Pho Than Brothers...very good Pho..so far the best i've had (from Pho joints..my mom, grandma's, and my own pho will always be #1, 2, and 3 in my book). You get a good quality pho with generous servings of noodles and meat. The tendons were nice and soft. The serve bean sprouts, with lime, basil leaves, and peppers..a must. The table had the appropriate condiments such as Hoison sauce and Sri Ra Cha, but the only thing missing from the table was the fish sauce?!? but its okay the soup was a perfect salty-ness in my view. I think I found my new quick place to go for lunch and/or dinner before a movie, or if I just need a pho fix...oh and the free custard puffs although nothing I'd pay extra for..are a nice treat. ~G

The pho is not bad but the service is TERRIBLE!!!! The guy that works there is so rude and obviously does not like working there. I've been to other pho than brothers in the area and they have better service. They need to change the management there for sure! Never going back there again!

    (1)
  • Jen B.

i was told that this location was cleaner than the redmond one. it's a bit better i guess...i just hate having to inspect my utensils before i eat. than brothers is so great at making you feel unwelcome. i always feel uncomfortable when i go here because everyone that works there looks annoyed. their pho is good, but i never choose to go here on my own. : /

    Ok pho. Super sugary broth.

  • Howard C.

Okay, so the other reviews are a bit more harsh, but consider this . . . three little boys who are hungry for good food after baseball practice or karate? They love this place so I love this place! It's cheap, food comes out fast, and the location is convenient! Who cares about atmosphere when you're feeding kids who are sharing an extra large bowl for $6?

    (4)
  • Christine C.

The pho here is DELICIOUS. Simply the best around, no comparison. Restaurant is always clean, the pho comes out fast, piping hot, absolutely scrumptious, and at less than $7 for an XL bowl, what a steal of a deal! I've been to the West Seattle location and though good, it definitely was not as good as this location. I highly recommend the Bellevue Than Brothers!

  • Luke P.

Addicted to pho but vegetarian - one of life's gastronomic struggles. Sadly this Than Brother's stopped offering the veggie version over a year ago. We went here 1-2 times a week for ages - until I noticed the broth was suspiciously meaty. They assured me it was veggie - but then a few months later admitted it wasn't. Our family is not vegetarian for religious reasons - so we didn't get too mad - just a little grossed out. Really disappointing - because the soup was so good.

DISGUSTING. Ate there Sunday 2.6.11 for lunch. 1) waitress seated us at table full of other people's dishes and napkins. Then removed them, and began to put our drinks on the table without first cleaning it. 2) Waiter grabbed a wadded up orange rag from the next table over, wiped down our table, then put our drinks and our sprouts plate on there. The table had a stench of mold and mildew thereafter. Adding to it was that he put that dirty orange rag back on the table next to us, so the smelll came in stereo. 3) Chysanthemum tea came out. One of two had a piece of paper floating on top of it. Sent it back for a replacement. It tasted like Lipton with a lot of sugar and a little lime in it. 4) Pho arrived. The chicken was so tough it could not be chewed. So, all we had to eat was the broth. 5) The broth tasted like soapy dish water. It did not have the color or flavor of real pho broth. 6) Our table had a plexiglas cover on top of it covering the menus. A piece of hair faced us from under that plexiglas the whole meal. 7) The waiter cleared other people's dirty bowls and utensils, then appeared carrying our new bowls 30 seconds thereafter. Clean hands? 8) Waiter was slurping on a drink from a straw right behind us every few minutes. 9) Windows, floors and walls were filthy, but I can overlook that for good pho. 10) After the meal, we mentioned the above to the waitress. She said "sorry." DISGUSTING. I've eaten pho hundreds of times, and at least 50 at different Than Brothers. I'll NEVER go back here.

They don't take cards, just cash or check. That whole idea would actually make this place the most authentic Pho place that's not in the International District. They have great pho for a cheap price, what more can you ask for?

Not bad for a $5 bowl of pho. It's nice to see more pho restaurants popping up on the Eastside and I finally got to try it for dinner last night. I've been to some of the Seattle locations and wanted to try this one out. We got in pretty late, around 8:45-9pm and they still seated us. The service was nice and prompt. Our orders came out quickly, of course, the cream puffs came first. I had the pho tai nam, my typical pho order, and the chrysanthemum tea with honey. The tea was delicious! The pho was pretty good; noodles were cooked perfectly and the meat tasted good. I would've preferred the tai to be more rare, but it wasn't chewy or bad in anyway. I loaded mine with all the fresh vegetables and varietal of sauces. I forgot to taste the broth before I added flavors, but it tasted delicious with my additions. The vegetables were fresh, green, and crisp. It seems that most places now offer old, brownish veggies. Overall, the food and service are similar to the Seattle locations. This will likely be my go to for quick and cheap pho on the Eastside.

  • Sharon C.

Why three stars? Well, they messed up my order. Since I with my dad(plus I talked him into eating there in the first place) I didn't mention it. Service was good, the man was very patient with us constantly changing ideas. If it wasn't for the cream puff though, I would've totally gone to some other location even the Edmonds one who also serves a seafood pho and shrimp rolls (fresh!). Overall, the food was filling and hot and service great but I CANNOT excuse messed up orders.

  • Eric T.

This is one of my fav Pho place on the eastside. When we are home in Bellevue I always stop there at least once to get my pho-fill. They also have awesome cream puff. They don't skimp on their bean sprouts and basil, huge plate even if for one person.

    (5)
  • Melissa S.

This is an inexpensive, quick, and filling lunch. I've only oredered the Pho Ga and there is an amazing amount of chicken (all white meat) even in the "small." The sizes are ridiculous as the small for $4.95 is more than enough for one person. They give you a plate full of bean sprouts, jalepenos, and basil on the side in addtion to a very yummy creamy pastry for dessert. Come hungry!

    (4)
  • Holly B.

This place is great! Five or six bucks buys you THE best pho in Seattle, a condiment plate of basil, sprouts and peppers, and an awesome little cream puff. The pho broth is just amazing and the vegetable pho with tofu and mushrooms is excellent. The service has always been lightning fast for me. The only caveats: 1) Sometimes they run out of cream puffs quite early in the day and you can't get one. 2) They don't take credit cards, so remember to bring cash or you'll have to write a check for five bucks.

    (4)
  • Alli B.

If you've lived in Seattle long enough you know how you like your pho quick, hot, and tasty. My husband and I have been eating here at least once a week for the past 3 months and every time the soup has been awesome. I don't have any issues with the service like some of the other reviews posted. It's a pho place.....................You give them your order and they bring you your food, period. There's no fuss and when you're done you get up and pay. The broth is really wonderful with no greasy veneer like some other pho places. I dig the cream puffs too but the Vietnamese coffee with sweetened condensed milk is the best.

    (4)
  • Chris C.

I'm not a huge fan of pho, but decided to try this place for something different one night. Shouldn't have bothered. It was not even good for pho.

  • Eric W.

Best pho place I've found in the area and at a great price. They even give you creamy puffs at the end. Note that they accept cash-only.

cheap, reliably constant tastes - one of the better pho places in the area.

I found a fly in my soup. They were nice enough to not charge me my pho, but still... all of the pho broth came from the same pot.

This is by far the best Pho I have had in this area. The broth is delicious and not fatty. I'd recommend the #13.

  • Gabriel C.

Good find, will gladly be coming back again. Custard cream puff start FOR FREE. I dig it. Ordered an XL $8 large with plenty of broth, noodles and meat (though light on the tendon). Broth leaves you a bit parched (on the saltier side), but it's delicious.

  • Kevin W.

The people who are giving this place positive reviews probably just fell for the large portions and low, low prices. Once you look beyond those two things, there is nothing special or redeeming about Pho Than Brothers. It is average in quality at best and might have some questionable issues with sanitation. But when you can get an extra large bowl of pho for a little over eight dollars, it makes me not want to complain too much and to just eat. Service is super fast, like you'll have your bowl ready in under five minutes most likely. They bring out the plate with garnishes and cream puff even before that, but freshness seems to be lacking with their food. For them to bring it out like that, the food had to have been sitting there for a while. The staff appear less than enthusiastic about their job, too. I appreciate being able to grab a quick bite like this, but I'd probably rather eat pho from a nicer restaurant.

  • Elina K.

I have been coming here for years since it's my go-to pho place when I'm feeling yuck or hungover and the closest quality pho to me. I recently came in and realized how dirty the restaurant is. Have they ever heard of a vacuum?! I'm sorry but I was kind of disgusted with all of the food/random debris all over the floor, the dirty mirror walls, and stained white table clothes almost made me lose my appetite. It's one of those places you really have to just wait out until the food comes..because the pho is awesome!! I always get the #2 (steak with brisket) and the veggies come fresh and washed. The soup is piping hot, noodles are soft and completely cooked, and the meats are always pretty tender! Will still continue to come here but if they took care of their appearance a little, I would love it tenfold.

    (3)
  • Sissy S.

I highly recommend pho brothers! I've been a regular customer sence 2013, they are great! They greet you as you come in the door and recommend a table or you can choose. Soon after the bring you water and cream puffs as well as your condiments for your soup at that time they will take your order. I order the # 8 brisket and trip apsolutly delicious, my soup arrived fast and hot. I have been nothing but satisfied with there service and food.

  • Kim L.

This place is located in a small strip mall across from Crossroad's mall. It's a small restaurant. I've been here several times. I usually get the medium pho dac biet (pho special), which is the #14 I think, lol. It comes with a plate of bean sprouts, cilantro, jalepenos, limes. You get a complimentary creme puff for dessert, which comes out before you get your pho. Service is okay-the waiters do bring out your food pretty quickly though after you order. You pay for your food up front at the cash register after you're done eating. I like to come here for pho, especially if I have a hankering for it, and my mom hasn't made homemade pho in awhile. (Her pho is the best by the way-just saying... :P)

  • Leela S.

Pho Than is a no-frills pho chain that has sprung up all over Seattle and the East side over the last couple of decades. What's not to love here? The price is right, and the food is wholly satisfying. At the advent of your meal, you'll be given a complimentary cream puff. Nice little touch, and you can even save it for dessert. The menu is very simple: there are many kinds of pho, period. Pick your poison, pick the size (the medium mirrored the size I was used to from other Vietnamese restaurants), and feast! The broth is a bit thin, but the quality of meat and noodles is pretty solid. Service is essentially non-existent; be prepared to beckon a server if you need anything, because no one's going to be waiting on you here. However, you end up with a full, satisfied stomach on less than $10, so there really isn't much to complain about at all.

    (4)
  • Daniel J.

All round excellent pho. Good broth, good noodle, all the fixins and the cream puffs are a nice extra.

    (4)
  • Michael G.

The famous Pho Than Brothers.. glad I finally got a chance to try the Bellevue location. You can taste the quality in the pho broth, that's clear. I can't think of much wrong with Pho Than, truthfully. it's your quintessential pho restaurant. Cheap, fast, good. I ordered the Pho Tai Bo Vien without noodles and I swear the waiter walked away, picked it up in the kitchen and brought it out, never breaking stride. I don't think you'll be disappointed or wow'ed. It's middle of the pack nothing techincally wrong utility pho.

Good Food, Good Prices, They size is great for the prices. Services is ok, they don't really talk to you. ive waited 10 minutes with them walking by me numerous times.

Nothing special, but great value for the price. Extra meat option adds legitimate meat. Should note that it is pho only. No other Vietnamese food available.

This is probably my favourite pho place around eastside. Cheap, fast, and lots of food. When I saw that they had an XL listed at $7 which is the same / cheaper than most places charge for a normal size, I was suspicious at their sizing scheme. But their medium is really about the same size as other places normal size. Meaning the XL was huge, it also had plenty of meat. Tastes just as good as other comparable pho places. I'm a big eater but could barely finish it. Once you order they are also super quick about bringing the food out. And at the end, they normally serve you complimentary cream puffs. Decent custard cream puffs.

  • Kate L.

We've been here a few times and it's definitely a hit and miss place. Pho ranges from bland to decent and borderline good. I wouldn't go as far as saying they're the best I've ever had because that would be a lie. Can't deny the food is cheap and they accept cards. But I've honestly had better service at food courts and drive through's. The service is horrible. Every time I come here, I notice that the servers (and probably family/owners) look so grumpy and "lazy". Lazy in quotes because there is one person in particular who just sits with a slouch in a chair every time we go there, even once we're in. If you're going to be in this type of business, at least look like you're enjoying your job and happy to see people coming. I'd like to go elsewhere, but have to admit the location is appealing to us and there aren't many Vietnamese places around the same vicinity (please correct me if I'm wrong as I'm fairly new here).

  • Henry L.

Small parking lot inside a busy street. Ordered the Tai Chin Nam Sach with eye-round steak*, brisket, flank and tripe that was perfect for a cold day to warm the heart and soul. They got a good variety of rice noodle soup choices. Good prices for a descent amount of food. They give you cream puffs for dessert, which was a major plus. Fast, efficient and good customer service!!!

  • Ata B.

I've been to the Pho Than in Capital Hill. That place is the bomb. This one? Not so much. The food is similar--flavorful, inexpensive and plenty. However, the decor really does detract from the experience. The floor was covered in crumbs. There were dirty dishes piled on several tables. And you don't even want to hear about the bathroom. I'll just say that you should spare yourself and go elsewhere. Next time, when I have a hankering for pho, I'll just drive to Capitol Hill.

    (2)
  • Scott S.

I love this place, I think they have the best tasting broth that I've had in the seattle area. They know me and basically bring me my medium chicken with extra chicken without me having to talk to them. As others have said the service is pretty bad, if you run out of water you're going to need to flag someone down to get it refilled, and the prices seem to be slowly climbing, but its the only place around that satisfies my pho cravings.

    (4)
  • Andy C.

I eat here at least monthly for lunch. Their food is great (typically I order a #9 which is my favorite) and very cheap, around 8 bucks. And they serve a complimentary cream puff for dessert! There is a chain of them around seattle and I've eaten at several, I have found the experiences mostly consistent. With Pho Than, you know what you are getting and I would definitely recommend it to someone looking at trying Pho as a baseline for good affordable Pho!

    (5)
  • Jonathan H.

I come here like once a month. I come here for the pho only, Pho Tai x-large. And it is x-large. I don't think they have much else. The pho here is the cheapest and give you the most meat. Broth is ok, not the best but this is the Eastside. A nice addition is that they give u a cream puff before your meal. Kind of unexpected from a pho restaurant. Don't expect service tho. The waiter is a typical pho restaurant waiter. He'll come to you table (menu is under the table glass) and expect you to order quickly. I am totally ok with this, but I have seen other people get frustrated. If you want good sized pho that is reasonably price in the Eastside, Than Bro is ur place.

    (3)
  • Kim M.

The Pho is great. It's the only reason I keep coming back. The service is HORRIBLE, pretty much non-existent. And I'm pretty sure the floor hasn't been cleaned since the last time I was in there, which was a couple of months ago. Okay, it probably has, but still. The price is right and the Pho is great. Just don't expect friendly smiles or water refills. :)

    (3)
  • Marina T.

My favorite place to get pho! The pho is amazing and probably the best out of the places I have been to. The place itself could use a little more cleaning and the staff isn't very friendly, but I'm just there for the food anyway.

Missing a star because I'm of the mind that ALL restaurants should at least act like they care about interior decorations, even if they are in a strip mall. Have some pride, people! That being said, Pho Than Brothers serves the best value pho for your money in the Seattle area, and it's a great lunch stop. There are several locations, including one on Aurora near Greenlake, but I've only been to the one at Crossroads. Fresh basil and sprouts are brought out with your order, and they give you cream puffs for dessert! I go here with work groups frequently and we all love it. Lots of different options for meats, and a solid broth. Extra meat or noodles is a very reasonable surcharge (I think about $1? The exact price escapes me right now.)

Best price and by far fastest service of any sit-down restaurant in WA state. Love the flavors and best thing when u think a cold is coming on. They keep it very simple and very fast, exactly what you should be expecting. The crème puff is always appreciated!

I visit the Bellevue location on a regular basis. The pho ga is good for the price, but I also pack it with hoisin and sriracha sauce. You might not like the broth if you don't add sauce to it. The chicken is really good, quality chicken. It's real and not just sliced up like you'd find at a face food joint. Occasionally, there's a little grizzle on the chicken, which I don't mind because at least that tells me it's real. No vegetarian options, unfortunately. The restaurant is horribly maintained. I've been there enough to know that they rarely vacuum, and at times I've even come in and gotten my pants wet because the table cloths were soaking wet. I continue to go for the price and pho ga, which I like very much.

This is my spot back home! Where I fell in love with pho! Well, actually, it was at their old location in Redmond, but still. Great pho. The best. Cream puffs are a bonus. However, I have two gripes: -The price keeps going up, up up. It used to be a good cheap eats spot, and the tables were packed. Now it's midrange lunch, and business doesn't seem as hot for them. -Service is TERRIBLE. Always. Never any personality in any of the workers. I understand there is a language barrier, but "Hi, thanks for coming in" could probably be learned in five minutes on google translate. Worse that that is that they never refill water. You must hunt them down and ask, often by getting up from your table and going up front. And I NEED tons of water for my fire-engine red sriracha-fied pho! Tip: If you're there by yourself, say there are two people. Double water, double limes or whatever you use in your pho. I wouldn't do it often, but when I'm needing to stock up for a serious pho sesh, that's my move. -Still not convinced that extra noodle makes any difference -Cash only. Really? But I will surely be back every time I'm in town.

What's that stomach? I need reasonably healthy lunch that is quick, and cheap. I guess it's eating Pho at Pho Than brothers. Too bad there isn't a pure vegetarian dish on their menu. :-/

Love how fast the order comes out. I walk in tell them my order go to wash my hands and the pho's on my table. Very cheap and always eat the cream puff to finish if off.

Love this place for some quick and tasty Pho. Huge portions for the pricing, fresh basil and bean sprouts. The broth is really good. It's not the most atmospheric place, but they do pho and they do it well. Oh and the creampuffs are awesome.

If you work near Crossroad or Eastgate, this seems to be the only Pho around. I saw Pho Tai and Saigon... too but they are a bit further up. Just like any typical lunch Pho, big bowl, cheap, definitely fill you up.

Always come here with my boyfriend to get regular meat pho. I usually go else where when i'm craving chicken pho I go elsewhere, but this is my go to place. The staff probably knows us by now :P Not the cleanest place, but whatever, still good pho.

Been here 3 times before with decent results but that this recent visit has got me thinking was it all a dream? The broth which is the heart of any pho was soooooo watered down. It didn't make much sense cause they have usually been so great about making it so flavorful. It was rather unfortunate. Add to the fact the server didn't account for the extra noodles I asked for and had to peel him away from this cellphone to grab his attention.

On the east side there are not very many good options for good pho. I like the other locations of this seattle franchise, but the bellevue location is a different story. I have been lazy about going into seattle or to renton/southcenter and thus have settled for this place, but my last visit was just that, my last, never again. First off, the restaurant has ALWAYS been dirty. I think these people have never heard of a vacuum. Seriously every time I have been in there it looks like a frat party was thrown the night before. buy a vacuum! use it! additionally, it was rainy when we went there for lunch and it smelled like mildew throughout the restaurant. Second, the service is horrendous. I see other people stating that the service is bad and not personable (and still giving them 3+ stars?!?), but its worse than that. My wife asked our server to wipe down the table not once, but three times!!! There were noodles and sprouts left over from the previous diners and the server just picked them up with his hands. Are you f*cking kidding me? marginally better soup, and a cream puff cannot make up for this inept behavior. I am too grown to deal with that. never again will I give these owners my business, but it seems as though they won't care. they have no pride in their establishment. mediocrity is their MO and is enough to pay their bills, so i doubt they will change. bottom line: im disappointed in myself that my laziness has given them my business on more than one occasion, but never again.

Probably the best Pho broth I've ever tasted. I eat here about 2-3 times a month. This is a no frills pho shop. They only have pho dishes at this location. The portions are huge, and it's pretty cheap. (Especially compared to Canadian pho shops.) They're a bit understaffed during lunch rushes and service is slow so I always avoid going that time and go late afternoon unless I can't wait. They give out some free cream pastry which I've never felt the need to try.

As this is a Pho restaurant, there isn't too much one can say before giving their verdict. The restaurant itself is pretty small, and certainly not the most ideal place for our group of six. The free cream puffs throughout all the Pho Than Brothers are a nice touch, but it doesn't make up for their faults. The somewhat lacking broth wasn't as flavorful as other places, and I felt didn't get too much meat either, compared to the noodle. My meal was pretty decent at its price, but having been to far too many Pho establishments, it wasn't any better than many others. I would probably hit another restaurant in the area unless I was desperate for some hot soup.

    1. This is place very dirty 2. The broth tasted like Beef favor instant noodle, packed with MSG 3. Found plastic strip in the soup, told the guy and he just stare at me and said nothing. 4. Come only if you want to eat the cream puff, but stay away from the pho

When I was younger, my family and church fellows would come here after Sunday choir practice for dinner when service started at 1 pm. Service starts at 10:30 am now, so we come here for lunch instead. The place is nothing fancy, and you'll definitely leave smelling like pho for the rest of the day. There are 14 choices of menu on the menu, each comes with a different mix of meats, tendon, and tripe. You can also get a bowl with meat balls, or customize it by adding additional meats. The bowl sizes start at small and go till extra large. I always get the small and end up not finishing it, but my brother can easily polish off an extra large. My usual order is #12, with flank, brisket, steak, and tendon. There are other Vietamese dishes to order, but I've never ordered those. The food comes quickly and steaming hot. Make sure to stir around the meat a bit because it comes a little bit raw and also because the noodles are also not separated. You will also be given a plate of bean sprouts, lime wedges and basil. Hoisin sauce and sriracha are also available to be used. I always use both with my bowl of pho and squeeze some lime juice into my broth. The broth here is slightly sweet, and a little saltier than I would like it. The pieces of meat are not tough at all, and each type has a different texture. The flank is my favorite of the three. Tendon is super soft and it seems like they cook it in the back for hours. You get a perfect amount of noodles, and they're just how they should be. Afterwards, make sure to finish off your meal with the complimentary cream puffs. They are the perfect ending to a pho meal.

Well, it is pho. Probably 2.5 if I could give half points. It isn't the best but it isn't the worst I've had. Each time I've come in for a pho fix, it does the job. Consistent broth always solves whatever might be ailing me. They typically give you a free cream puff with your pho order while their supply of puffs lasts. Price did go up a bit so isn't as cheap as it use to be for the quantity. This place looks to be accepting credit cards now rather than cash only the last I went.

I love all types of soup noodles so Pho definitely fits the category here. This place serves decent pho for a pretty cheap price with awesome cream puffs!! The cream puffs is mainly the reason why this gets bumped to a 4 star. Whyyy do they always have to tempt me by placing the cream puffs on the table before the pho is even served? Must...resist!

Pho Than brothers is simple, delicious, and cheap Pho. If you are looking for other Vietnamese dishes than Pho, this is not the place for you. Though the service can be terrible, it all depends who is working, the staff does try to keep the tables moving as it is small restaurant and normally pretty crowded. The cream puffs are good, and the bean sprouts, basil, lime, and jalapenos served with the Pho always seem fresh. The Pho broth is one of the best I have had and serving sizes are huge. Overall, I have never once been disappointed with the food and never been so delayed by service that I have overrun my lunch hour.

1 star for the deliccccious cream puffs. 1 star for the yummy broth which is different from the rest. THATS IT. cons: the people working there never smile. hm :\ - usually, there is this guy who is SOOOO moody and RUDE! i lose my appetite every time i see his face the restaurant's pretty dirty on busy days, they usually don't remember your order :\

I've been coming to this location for more than a year now, and I usually come at least 4 times a month. A major problem with chains is that each "franchise" has to keep a particular standard, but with Pho Than Bros, they threw that standard out the door. I feel each location does it a little different, but they always throw in a cream pastry per customer. To me, this location has the best Pho broth. I've tried almost all of their locations, and while other location's broth tastes similar, but theirs feel like either a saltier or milder version of the Crossroad's. Let's talk cons: No vegetarian broth, cash only, waiting staff might be not as attentive, and it is a small store. There might be times where there can be a small wait, but for the most part, they're really fast. Let's talk pros: The best thing about this location is the broth. I know I've said that, but that doesn't really magnify the magnitude of this broth. Contrary to popular believe, cheap price doesn't equal to cheap quality food. Because they take cash only, they can afford to charge less than other Pho out there. If you are costumed to other Pho places, you might find this place to serve broth that is a little on the sweet side, which may throw you off a little, but you'll find layers of flavor in that sweet broth. I've had Pho in many different cities across US, and I still think this one takes the crown. Even if I have high blood pressure in the future, and the doctors suggests that any more sodium would kill me; I would still come back.

The soup seems to be lacking in something. I don't know what! Someone tell me. I do like the cream puff that they give out along with your bowl of noodles. The place is quite small, but cleaner than some pho restaurants. I think the best pho however is still Pho Bac although Pho Than Brothers will continue to be part of my list of restaurants that I will still go to. Cheap and good Pho? This is a good place. Just don't bloat yourself with the extra large bowl, with extra noodles, and extra meat since it's cheap.

Good food, good price, poor service... The pho noodles and cream puffs are great, but service needs improvement! Good place to grab a bite to eat, but don't expect to get your water or fork when you ask for it.

I was under the impression that I could visit Pho Than Brothers at any location, and receive consistently good pho. And then I came to this one... and boy was I WRONG! -The service was horrible and the guy "helping" us was rude -It was smaller and less well-kept than other locations -They were very stingy with the portions of meat and even noodles, in comparison to other locations I was sooo disappointed! I'm sticking to Pho Than Brothers in Seattle.

I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I was at this restaurant. My husband and I sat towards the back where the staff would sit and wait for customers while on their phone. Ok no biggy. The table just behind my husband was a woman on her phone- on speaker phone. Quickly we found out she was worked their as their cashier. Perhaps the manager/owner? She was on her phone with the speaker phone taking payments from customers while talking on speaker. As customers walked in, she flagged people to tables. It took everything in my not to say something. My husband begged me not to say something. As our drinks came out, my husband noticed that my tea came from a container off the floor. This woman continued to talk on her phone with the speaker on. Finally my husband turned around and asked her to please turn it off. She did. I'm not kidding you when I say this staff was flagging people to tables while sitting down. I'm a restaurant manager so I know I can be picky, but I was completely besides myself at the absolute rude, obnoxious and totally disregard to service. Food was OK! Don't look under the tray where they keep their sauces. It's been awhile since they've cleaned that. Wonder how many violations they have?

Love Than Brothers!! This place has one of the best pho around and the price you just can't beat. It also come with a free cream puff which is great after you eat spicy pho. I am really glad this place began taking credit cards because it used to only take cash and I never carry cash. When I go here I usually just get the pho tai but my gf always gets the special that comes with everything.. No matter what time we go there is always a ton of people here so that is when you know it is good!!

I was turned on to Than Brothers by my Asian friend when I spur-of-the-moment texted him, "Hey, what's the best pho in Bellevue?" Asian people don't lie about pho. Hands-down the best Pho in town. There are three things to love here: 1. Delicious Pho -- tasty broth, perfectly cooked meat, good noodles 2. Gigantic Portions -- everything from the Large and up is easily shareable. My wife and I each got a Large our first time out and had to take almost a whole portion home. 3. Rock bottom prices -- The most expensive bowl of pho is under $7. In my experience you can pay literally twice that much at some of the flashier joints downtown Bellevue. It's not sexy, it's not fancy, and it's not swank. If that's what you're looking for, you can pay for it at Boom Noodle. But, if what you're looking for is delicious pho at a great price, Than Brothers is the place.

How on earth does this place have three and a half stars? Eating here would be an apocalyptic decision. That means that I would only consider eating here if it were the last restaurant on this planet. I am no fan of any Pho Than Brothers locations, and the fact that they are a chain makes it that much less appealing to me. The last time and only time I came in here to eat, the tables reeked of dirty towel odor. I don't know what formula they use to wash their towels, but I am of Asian ancestry, and I know what a dirty table towel smells like in Asian restaurants. I do not trust their spoons, they look stained and primarily unwashed. I do not trust their plastic water cups, it also smells. I have to wash my chopsticks/spoon in hot water so I know I won't get some bacterial stomach infection.

Pros: The pho here is good! They have a lot of different pho types. Cons: All they offer is pho, so if you have a friend who doesn't like pho, there's nothing else on the menu they can order. Slightly hole-in-the-wall. Need cash if you order less than $10. When I discovered this place, I was so happy. It was on the way home from work, and it is very decent pho. What's not to love? Now that I live in Issaquah, I'm sad that it's more out-of-the-way. I keep trying to make myself try Jenny Pho in Issaquah, but somehow I find myself always coming back to Than Brothers instead.

Don't get me wrong - I LOVE pho, and I frequent the Capitol Hill Than Brothers location. This one, however, is not as amazing. I tried to dash over for a quick lunch break from work, and it took forever. Maybe it was my fault for trying to go right at lunch time, but it was slooooow service. We got in and had to stand by the door and wait for a table for quite some time - there were tables available but no one had cleaned them off yet. The place is super-small so there's not a lot of room to sit OR stand, which made it more annoying. We finally sat down and had no one take our order or serve us water for another long period of time. By the time we finally got our food, I had to be back at work in 15 minutes (and I have an HOUR-LONG lunch break). No one served us water until after they brought us our meal, although we had been served the lovely creampuffs already. The Capitol Hill branch gets 4 stars, but I'm docking this location 1 star for a lack of awesome service and a lack of enough space.

My sister is obsessed with Pho lately. I have been going to Than brothers at least once a week because of my sister's obsession. Still, I don't complain because their pho is pretty decent and if a large bowl costs only 4.15 where two people can share, who can really complain? I must admit, Pho's the best on a cold summer night, where the weather is breezy and chilly but the sky is clear. But I have gone here for lunch! They also have cream puffs for dessert. If you put some lime juice in the cream puffs, they taste like key lime pie. yumyumyum

I used to LOVE coming here because of their large portions and low prices. Their complimentary pastries are very generous. The quality here has started going down hill ever since the economy went bad. Broth is obviously watered down and the service is terrible at times. The waiters are all usually students who work part time and don't have any passion for it whatsoever. I came here a while ago with my Girlfriend. While one of the guys was cleaning the table next to us he accidentally flung hot sauce across my kobe jersey. I was pissed as hell and told him about what he had done. Instead of apologizing he stood quietly and rang me up for my food without even offering a discount or anything. I called the owner several days later and met with him to discuss the matter. The owner did absolutely nothing for me. He said he would repay me if i presented a price tag or receipt and that I also hand over my jersey to him to keep. Absolutely ridiculous. Another time I saw an indian couple come into the restaurant. They asked the waiter if they had substitutes for beef. The waiter snapped at the couple saying "You two have come in here before asking the same thing and I already told you. I'm getting tired of this" The Indian couple said "this is our first time here" and as the waiter went to the back to get them water the two stood up in disgust and left out the door. I hope the owner reads this...you need to straighten out your staff.....

Who doesn't crave pho from time to time? A cheap delicious meal that's served no later than 5 minutes after you order...with a free creampuff! The downside? Everyone will know you had pho to eat after they get a whif of you... plus the meat at this particular location had a weird consistency and was different from the other locations I've tried (both me and the bf noticed it). Not the best pho I've ever had but it still wasn't bad and did its job to fill me up. PS: bring cash if you're ordering less than $10

This place really surprised me the other day. Parking is tough, and the place isn't especially nice inside, or even clean. It does however have really good food. I had the small #12 which was eye round steak, brisket, and tendon. The broth is awesome, the tendon and steaks were super tender. The only downside is the lack of parking (not their fault) and cleanliness inside the restaurant. 5 stars food, 2 stars for the rest of the experience. The food is what really matters anyways so 4 stars. Great prices also.

you know there were a couple grievances i have had with this location over the years, but with what seemed my limited pho choices in bellevue, i really thought i was okay with this location. like favorable reviewers have noted, it's fast, it's cheap, it's consistent with the than bros style. i mean, there was a period of time during 2007-2008 especially where i was basically coming to this place about twice a week. it also was the first meal hubs and i had once we landed, jetlagged from our 14 hour flight...it wasn't like i was NOT a fan. i clearly had a thing for thans. However, it's the last couple of visits that have really turned me from this location. While service at a than bros is not something i particularly hold out for, when i order something, i think it's very reasonable to hope it comes out sometime during the meal. At least on three occasions, I have ordered a tea or additional noodles, or maybe asked for limes that I were absent from the plate of things essential to that plate of pho-and without fail, my orders and requests have all been forgotten. It is only when they are ringing me up and charging me for said forgotten items that I have to contest the charge and tell them they never brought out whatever I asked for. The fact this has happened more than once is just...well...really really bad form for their business. (yes, stating the obvious here) They don't tell their patrons that, if you plan on ordering extra helpings of bean sprout, they will charge you. This i had to find out by asking why there was an additional 40 cent charge. Look, i know it isn't much, i mean, it's not even two quarters, but still. It would be nice to know about any additional charges before you have to pay. (btw, i've ordered extra sprouts at other pho places, including other than bros without such a surcharge) Also...realized that the large at this location just had less noodle and meat than a small/medium at other locations. seriously paltry. I love pho. i mean, I think one of the best bits about being in Seattle is all the amazing pho restaurants you get to choose from. Than Bros has always remained on my staple list because i found them all consistent and cheap. However, there is just so much "turning a blind eye" a person can take. For me, the last few experiences at thans bellevue location has put me at my limit. good bye and good luck thans bellevue. hope you turn things around soon.

Pretty new Pho Than Brothers compared to the others. For that reason it's a bit cleaner. The service is better (on average) than the others as well. Taste is exactly the same, cream puff is always nice. blah blah. Price is great for the amount of food you get. Losing to Pho Hoa in taste. Never had any issues with service.

  • Vivian N.

This is probably the worst Pho Than restaurant in the franchise. If you enjoy pho, you're probably aware that the broth is the most important part of pho. The broth is just never consistent here -- it's either too sugary, too salty, too bland. It's hard to enjoy their pho when you've had it better at other locations. Everybody seems unhappy working here. And if you get your orders to-go, they add a "to-go charge" to your bill and stiff you on the vegetables considerably. Fail. I do wish their pho was better. Then we could have a Pho Than to boast about on the Eastside! But you could do better. Save your money for the Ave, Capital Hill, or Aurora locations.

Pho Than Brothers is a Seattle-area based chain. Their newest location is their Bellevue, WA restaurant. Pho Than is essentially an one item restaurant of pho with your choice of protein (chicken, beef) or vegan. Located in a strip mall across from Crossroads Mall, the restaurant is relatively small and does not offer much in decor. The big focus is on providing good cheap eats. Having eaten at two of the sister establishments, I think this location's food is pretty middling. I had a medium pho with eye round steak, brisket, well-done flank and soft tendon (#12). The pho was fine, but the broth was nothing special. It was also a little on the salty side for my taste. The cream puff however was a good treat at the end. For a regular size appetite, I think the medium suffices. The large order is a bit too filling for me. All in all, the convenient location and the awesome prices makes Pho Than a good place to eat. Just do not expect too much in terms of anything except filling yourself up here.

My favorite Pho place! This is a great combination of price, taste and quality. Service I don't care for, but a good big plate with lots of noodles, meat and delicious broth! I have tried other places, but this place sets the bar for me! More expensive places don't taste this good!

Unclean. Floor was littered and in an empty restaurant there were two tables that sat there waiting to be bussed for about a half hour. I had to call for someone to operate the register when I wanted to pay and leave. I don't want to see servers wearing flip flops.

The pleasant surprise of the place is the creampuffthat everyone else already mentioned, delicious! The not so surprising thing was the cold service, but who goes there for service right? However, I'm big on service, was gonna give it a 3 star rating, I mean, how hard is it to greet people and talk to them warmly? Anyways, the Pho was GOOD! The food came out FAST!! And the serving was HUGE!!! I always order "Pho xe lua" (the Train Engine Special) in all the Pho restaurants and finish the bowl dry. But i couldn't doit with the x-large bowl here, despite how yummy it was. Five for taste, speed and value. But three for service. Four in total average. Whatever, it's not like I won't come back.

This is a place that's tucked away across the street from Cross Roads Mall. They only serve Pho and requires a $10 min for credit cards. So if you're paying for yourself then bring cash! Their pho is deliciously cheap by Bellevue standards. Oh yeah and the free cream puff is a nice touch. Their portions are huge! The medium size is probably a large at most locations. So if you don't want to waste food then order a size smaller than the ones at other locations. The thing is that they only have Pho. And it's all beef pho other than a veggie and a chicken option. So if you don't like Pho then avoid this place.

(Just full disclosure, I'm known to have very random fast-food cravings.) Pho Than Bros has some of the best pho I've had since coming to Seattle. I may be missing out on the more high class pho places, and this place is the fast food of pho (they'll bring it to you under 5 minutes), but when you have that specific craving at 8:50 PM (since they close at 9); this place can satisfy! Just be careful to take cash, since they don't take credit.

I am used to Than Bros in Everett and Seattle and they are one of my faves. This location sucks! One of the reasons I love them is that they are the only place around to get vegetarian pho. Al the other locations have actual veggie pho, this one claims it is veggie, but uses beef broth. WTF?

What can I say, I'm a huge fan of noodles, and pho is no exception. I came here for lunch with some friends and I don't regret it at all. The menu is just pho, but I think this is a place that focuses on doing one thing well which is a good thing. The sizings are incredibly generous; I ordered a medium bowl and got far more than I was prepared to eat. These are definetly American notions of portions. :) I was also plesantly surprised with the cream puffs we all received prior to our soup and the milk coffee I had with my meal. They were also super cool about splitting our check at the last minute. I definetly look forward to coming here again. Be aware, they don't take credit cards, so make sure to swing by an ATM before coming here. The restaurant is small but they have some big tables, so a larger group can probably come here but if there's a crowd there might be a longish wait.

Just as good as the original! Best pho in the area, hands down and so cheap!

I have been here twice now. The Pho is delicious and I am always wanting more. This is a tie in my mind with Pho LaVang in Burien as the best Pho I have ever had. Just writing this makes me hungry. The place is a bit small but not too crowded. The service is fine. I got my Pho quickly. The cream puffs are delicious too.

Let me just start by saying that I LOVE Pho Than Bros, especially the one on the ave; sometimes the only thing that will hit the spot is their veggie pho studded with a forager's delight of mushrooms and lightly fried tofu. Deeelicious! BUT this location is not a good reflection on Than Bros at all. My boyfriend and I were so excited when we found out there was going to be a new Than Bros opening only a few suburban blocks away from our home that we hurried there on opening day. Everything seemed to be okay at first; we'd visit about twice a month. Then things started getting seedy: one time the staff said they were "out" of veggie pho (Seriously, how can you be out of veggie broth?), another time the waitress asked me if I wanted veggie broth with my 100 PERCENT vegetarian pho that is advertised on the menu at every Than Bros, and then acted surprised when I said I did. I got vaguely suspicious, but continued to visit the place every once in a while, happy in my ignorant world, until... ...One day I realized there were tiny chunks of meat floating in my VEGGIE PHO! As a place that advertises vegetarian pho and doesn't follow through, All Than Brothers establishments should be stricken with SHAME! Needless to say I have yet to return. I haven't even had a bowl of pho since, it was such a shock, even though I know the Than Bros on the ave would never commit such a faux pas. VEGETARIANS BEWARE!

Good Pho~ however, service is getting worse and worse. The short young man with an attitude need to control his temper.. He's so moody. I haven't been there for awhile. I am glad there are plenty of other Pho places in the area... And please do not dip your thumb in my Pho~ :(
