Probably my favorite cupcake place on the Eastside. We've tried their lemon, chocolate with chocolate, chocolate with vanilla buttercream, cookies n cream, and their red velvet cupcakes. The adults in our home love their chocolate with vanilla butter cream and the kiddo loves their chocolate with chocolate buttercream. The frosting isn't sickeningly sweet like many places, the cupcakes have a really good texture and great chocolatey flavor and they come in mini sizes in case I just want a small treat. The only reason they're not getting 5 stars is bc the people behind the counter aren't happy or friendly. Been in here more than a dozen times since they opened at this location and I've never gotten a happy greeting, welcoming smile, or a "hi there, welcome to New York Cupcakes". I suppose I still keep going back bc the cupcakes are amazing so it hasn't deterred me too much. Still, it would be nice if they were friendlier

I am extremely disappointed in NY Cupcakes and their owner Lisa.. A year ago we had NY cupcakes provide a wedding cake for our wedding and cupcakes the following night for our reception. We were specifically told to "Not keep the top layer of the wedding cake" to eat a year later because it would "taste terrible" and that Lisa would "provide" one to us to celebrate with and eat instead. We thought this was a great idea and was a wonderful added benefit to using them for our wedding. So I called today and spoke with Lisa so we could arrange getting the cake picked up to take with us next weekend. I was shocked when Lisa informed me it would be $45 to have them "provide" the cake to us. At no point during the initial, or subsequent conversations, were we informed that "provided" meant we have to pay for it when we were discussing the wedding and their services. I feel very cheated that Kris and I can not enjoy having a piece of cake from our wedding cake as promised due to the misrepresentation by Lisa. And all because she wants to make another $45 instead of happy and returning customers. So be forewarned...keep the top on your wedding cake unless you want to be gouged for more money!

I was surprised by the quality of the cupcakes! Very good cupcakes. Usually, specialty cupcakes are a big disappointment. Too sweet. Too dry. Too heavy. Not fresh.... But these hit all the criteria for a good cupcake. Moist, light, fresh, and the flavors all came through. We tried root beer float, strawberry fields, and orange dream. Flavors were strong in each. Impressive. The root beer float and orange dream were filled. Never had a root beer float cupcake before so that was really unique. My only criticism is that the person who served us could have been friendlier. She was an older lady and was a little impatient with me. Granted my kids were distracting me at the time. The shop reminds me of the witch's gingerbread house. Although it looks very kid friendly, it is not a good shop to bring kids into. Both of mine wanted to touch everything! Which probably accounted for the lady's attitude. I'll definitely venture back. Maybe I'll have the kids wait outside though.

Gluten-free and buttercream icing... I only have two words: I die. Upon walking in this super cute cupcakery, you have to totally take in the decor. It was totally thought out to help you fall in love with the entire theme. And the theme is simply, pretty! Look at the photos for yourself! Anyway, I decided on a few red velvets, chocolate on chocolate and vanilla. Soft and moist cake. Frosting was perfect, not too sweet at all. You have to go when you're in Washington!

Such delicious cupcakes! I stopped here on a whim when I went to the nearby Chipotle. First impression when walking in: Wow. Much pink. The girl at the counter was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. I wish I had gotten her name so I could mention it here. She talked to me about all the different flavors and when I was hesitant about the price of a half dozen, she gave me a variety of other ways to get a half dozen for cheaper (cupcakes from the day before, smaller ones, etc) that I wouldn't have known about if it weren't for her. Ended up walking out with 8 cupcakes for myself and the staff at the office I'm working at. Everyone had glowing reviews. These cupcakes are some of the best we've found, and we've tried quite a few places. The frosting is creamy and sweet and the cakes themselves are really moist - exactly as they should be. I got the Heath cupcake which was completely unique and I love that they have flavors like that. We'll definitely be stopping here again at some point.

We just had our consultation for our wedding desserts here with the intention of visiting other places, but we were so wowed by their service, goods and price that we put our deposit down right after! For a $25 tasting fee we were given 7 mini cupcake flavors to try, each having half of each one. Red Velvet- good Lemon frosting/white cake- fantastic! Peanut Butter- mouthwatering Chocolate- yummy Strawberry- yuck Salted Caramel- not the best Canoli- just tasted like chocolate chip We were only planning on purchasing cupcakes, but upon hearing that our simple cake (2 layer, no designs, just textured frosting) would only cost $150, we decided to solely give our business here! She gave us just the right amount of time to taste and look through their wedding books and made the whole process easy. I loved how they offer a 30% deposit and the option to do payments or pay the rest a month before our wedding. They offer set-up, delivery and everything you could think of! Our bill ended up being wayyyyy lower than we anticipated: $550 total for our cake, delivery ($20 to bellevue), 150 mini cupcakes, set-up and the stand to put everything on. I will update my review once their services are utilized in July for our wedding. Only one star is knocked off because they weren't offering a tasting of the Tirimisu flavor. But maybe they will offer it at a later date.

Cupcakes are great but the elder lady behind the counter is soooo rude! Second time in a row she's been like that and will be the last. She badgers her customers to hurry and order even when we say we're thinking. And if you have kids with you for get about it! She gives the stink eye foreal.

I was doubtful that this place was going to be any good, but after hearing some good reviews from friends, I suddenly found myself with strong cupcake cravings and went to check it out. My judgmental self was a) skeptical of a place with New York in the name that's located in the Crossroads shopping mall, and b) even more skeptical when I walked in and all I saw was pink, pink, pink. I tried a few flavors of their mini cupcakes and they were pretty good across the board. The cake is moist with a tight crumb (for those with phobia of dry cake, like me), and the frosting is well-balanced (although I always end up scraping some off - i just prefer a lower ratio of frosting:cake). Would love to try one of their more unique flavors, wish they came in mini size too. It feels a little pricey at $1.75 per mini though - it's probably 2 bites. A lot of the reviews have mentioned poor customer service, but I thought the lady at the counter was helpful and gracious. I'll probably be back to try more since I'm at crossroads a few times a week.

I'm glad I had a groupon! I would never pay full price for these cupcakes. This is the second time I've been here. I gave them the benefit the first time that the lady was just having a bad day. But likely everyday is a bad day for those that work there. So service 0. I give the cupcakes a 2. The frosting tastes just like whipped cream that is way too sweet. So the cupcakes have no balance of flavor. They are pretty to look at. The cake also is quite sweet. Actually, they just taste like sugar period. There are too many places that have cupcakes, that I'll go elsewhere.

  • Nicole R.

I first came here with a Groupon and got my dozen for a party. Everyone raved about these cupcakes, including me. So incredibly moist, delicious, and beautiful. I like it when a Groupon deal makes me go back to a place, and I've been back several times. The bacon maple cupcake is DIVINE, but only available on Saturdays! I knocked off one star for 2 reasons: one is the price (though all cupcake places are spendy), and the other is that I believe their employees should know their cupcakes better! If I ask what something is, I shouldn't have to pull out my phone and look it up (their website lists all their flavors). Overall, definitely worth going back!

I was really looking forward to testing out a few babies from New York Cupcakes. In general, I love cupcakes: they are cute, completely unnecessary and they make people happy. I was really hoping that there would be something to these cupcakes in particular that would set them apart from the others in town. Obviously, considering my solitary star review, I was wrong. First of all, let me say something about the atmosphere here. It just plain sucks, man. White walls, small glass case for a few varieties of cupcakes, maybe a dusty little boombox or set of crappy speakers cranking out lame Top-40 hits. The young girl working behind the counter is always bored. Uninterested. Could care less. She's making minimum wage and hawking crappy cupcakes. I don't blame her. Even the signage is about as cool as a banner at a used car lot. Let's skip to the actual merchandise. The "New York" cupcakes. They look just ok. A little corny. Some have sprinkles, some have frosting that looks like it was attacked by a vat of food coloring. Some even have gummy bears on top. Only an avid beanie-baby collector living in a trailer park would think these are adorable. I digress. I decided to take the lemon buttercream and the Fifth Avenue (chocolate cake and vanilla buttercream) to go. They both tasted like they came from Safeway or any other mass-marketed bakery. Very dry, almost spongy cake that didn't have much flavor at all other than "cake". The chocolate was not nearly chocolatey enough, and the lemon didn't make my mouth water. And the frosting...clearly someone is using shortening. Seriously lacking flavor and seriously boasting trans-fat. Cupcakes like these are the reason that many people don't like cupcakes. I can take down four delicious cupcakes in one sitting if I am so inclined. Ask anyone. Sadly, I couldn't finish either one of these. After a few bites of each, then going back and forth between the two TRYING to find any redeeming quality, I gave up and threw them away. I guess if you have to take that many bites to find love, it just aint there, honey. I'll save my calories, and my dollars, for Trophy thank you very much.

So today was the official 5th time I've been in here and seriously!? Best cupcakes ever! The red velvet is incredible! Bah!!! And the two ladies, Kelly and I think her name is Lizzy have been so sweet to me. Sweet, cupcakes? Pun intended... Grandmas birthday? 50 mini cupcakes! Little sister turns 18? Cupcakes at school! I actually hate driving to Bellevue but this place is the BEST so it's completely worth it...

Like San Y., I didn't taste one of these "New York" cupcakes, despite standing at the case and gazing at them longingly. Why not, you ask? Well, the person working was uninterested in walking from the back of the store allllll the waaaaay to the front of the shop where the cupcakes are displayed. She could have made the trip; I was there for several minutes, reading the various descriptions: chocolate cupcake with buttercream; vanilla cupcake with buttercream. The only variations were what was mixed into the buttercream and what was sprinkled on top. I wanted a cupcake. I might even have liked them (although they would have to be as good as Citizen Cupcake for me to do so). Finally, once I realized that the blonde girl with the "whatever" expression on her face was never going to approach me, I wandered away. How long do you folks expect to stay in business if you aren't going to sell the handful of cupcakes you have? Sheesh!

I went back to try it out and received the same rude service. The cupcake was just okay, but the service is so awful, I won't go back!

$2.75 to eat a delicious cupcake in a super-girly shop with pink walls, tea-party areas, and cutesy books. I'm worried for NY Cupcakes with this economy, because that is somewhat spendy, but if you have the cash & are around Crossroads Mall, it's worth it. There are about 10 cupcake options ranging from vanilla to chocolate to s'mores. I went with the lemon, and I have to say, it was better than I expected. The frosting was really good, it made the cupcake. I am pretty sure they are fresh, because the cake was soft and not dry at all.

ok so we had a meeting, and after the meeting we had a gift bag full of goodies.... and one of the goodies was a single large ny cupcake.... so my friends and I shared it.. hahahhahah I had the chocolate with pink frosting - I loved it.. butter cream frosting with sprinkles and moist chocolate cakes miranda had white frosting with white cake and white chocolate sprinkles.. pretty moist as well and sweet... jessica had the lemon cupcake... the whole thing was lemony and I don't like it............. bleah..barf... sunny had chocolate with chocolate and more chocolate.. a little over whelming but still very good..... I didn't go to the shop so I don't know what to expect.. and it isn't good enough for me to travel there.. but I know the ones that were in our gift bag was amazing... but then again.. anytime they do a big batch of stuff for a corporate function..it usually is amazing!!!!! so I don't know... but I don't like sweets enough to drive here....... not the most amazing cupcake I've ever had.. but pretty close .... Don't knock it till you try it.. it is a cupcake for god sakes...

I am a little surprised by the poor reviews this place has received. I have tried the salted caramel and strawberry. Both were wonderful. The cake was moist and the frosting's were flavorful, smooth and creamy. The re was an older women behind the counter who was very nice and helpful. The atmosphere was a bit poo with very little seating so I will dock a star for that.

I mentioned to the bf that I wanted to try this place sometime, and 'lo and behold, he went above and beyond the call of duty, and brought me a whole 6 pack one day after work. This place makes very good cupcakes. The cake is very moist and has a home-baked taste. The variety of flavors offered is what makes this place a winner for me. Tasted : Oreo, orange creamsicle, cinnamon, red velvet, salted caramel. My faves: Oreo and salted caramel. The chocolate cupcake bases were favored...but I really enjoy the way they do frosting. The oreo was a perfect balance of chocolate cookie taste and creamy, not overly sweet frosting. The salted caramel was more subdued than other one's I've tried, so although it didn't capture the essence of salted caramel, i still could not stop eating it. Red velvet is underwhelming. Orange creamsicle was unique, but successful in recreating the popsicle's greatness. I'll be dropping more hints about these cupcakes in the future.

Yum yum yum yum! (Sarcastic sarcastic sarcastic sarcastic!) Oh you Eastsider brat, you think you're so cute w/ your knock off designer frosting! (FYI, 2x the frosting doesn't mean you're 2x as 'cool') Get it straight! You fill about 1/10 of capacity of your displays with your cupcakes that don't taste too yummy and you live next to a McDonalds! Boo on you!

We visited New York Cupcakes in Crossroads Mall yesterday, and I fell in love. I had the "special" cupcake -- a limoncello/raspberry creation that is the best cupcake I've ever eaten in my life. I love cupcakes. I went to Seattle's Cupcake Camp last weekend, so I got the chance to try multiple different commercial bakers' creations. They were all very good, but this cupcake was amazing. The cake was moist, dense without being heavy, and delicious. The frosting was sweet without being sickly so. The combination of lemon and raspberry was pleasantly tart. Above all, it was the perfect little treat. The service was very good and patient, especially when my husband experienced what must be a daily problem at New York Cupcakes -- he had a tough time deciding which one he wanted! The shop itself is adorable. Besides the multiple flavors of cupcakes for sale, there are gift items sure to make any girly-girl from 6 to 66 squeal with glee. We can't wait to visit again. Thanks so much, New York Cupcakes!

What's up with the owner sending me a nasty message? Said I was "fictitious" because my names the same as someone else?? Susan is not exactly an uncommon name. Wow that's a really rude and very unprofessional way to conduct a business. I'm from the east coast and we are way more intense than the laid back west coast and this still strikes me as really really rude.

Cupcakes are my favorite things ever. But, I have three words for this place: Mine are WAY better. Ok, four words. Seriously!!! What the heck!? My idea 3 years ago was to open a cupcake place. And I totally regret that I didn't do it. These mediocre cupcake places are popping up all over offering dry cupcakes with lard tasting frosting. Don't waste your money. It may be convenient to just walk through their automatic doors and grab a cupcake, but, take my advice instead: Go to the store, buy a box of betty crocker cake mix and make your own. They'll be better, I promise.

    (1)
  • Susan C.

A bit disappointing as all the cupcakes are either chocolate or white cake with a different frosting on top. That's not really variety if you ask me! I tried the lemon-drop one and while the lemony frosting was good, the cupcake itself was dry and unappetizing. Decor is sterile and minimal in a pinkberry sort of way, but there's nowhere to sit!

i must admit. ny cupcakes are the best. but i give them a CRAP rating cuz the customer service SUCKS. tho i must say that i have tried trophy, pinkabella, cupcake royale and confetti cupcakes (which is 2nd best). why can't store owners see the value in being nice?????

250-300g in weight, 70cm in length, smooth golden crust which cracks under slight pressure, and a sole without charring or honeycomb imprints (the honeycomb indicates accelerated baking in a rotating style ovens). These are the standards of a proper Baguette. Every year an intense competition is held by the Grand Prix de la Baguette. The winner of this Baguette competition is allowed to provide the bread for a year at the Elyse Palace. The French take their bread seriously. With all this willy nilly cupcake shop, cash in on the craze, tomfoolery, perhaps Seattle should impose such standards for cupcakes. ;) She said that the shop had been there a year when I asked the counter woman how long New York Cupcakes has been open. I've never noticed it until today. I spotted the low cost graphics from across the street: New York Cupcake with three cupcakes resting friendly beneath the name. Usually New York and cupcake conjure up Magnolia Bakery, Buttercup, or Sugar Sweet, but intrigued by the curious, albeit potential misnomer, I popped across the street. Cupcake hocking appears to be the main activity at New York Cupcake. A sliding glass door leads to a sparse shop with room carved out to spare for another endeavor. I spotted about six plates for half a dozen daily offerings in the bakery case. During my visit, only four cupcake flavors were available. On the wall near the door is a sign with all the flavors New York Cupcake does, which is a pretty healthy list, but I didn't notice the list until I was leaving. I chose one of each flavor remaining for myself and other cupcakes lovers to share with. When I buy cupcakes from a new place I always double fist. I consumed an Orange Cream, I think, and a Chocolate mint. One of the people I bought a cupcake for has a citrus allergy and I couldn't tell one cupcake from another. That is a problem. I don't know if I ate the Orange Cream or the Black Ty cupcake. I sampled all the frosting on the other cupcake flavors and honestly I can't determine which is which. The mint was minty but rather weak. With flavors as distinctive as mint and orange being reasonably ambiguous, all the cupcakes sort of blend. The flavor names are irrelevant. Not sure where this fear of flavor comes from. Hardcore cupcake lovers should dismiss New York Cupcake altogether. A specialty shop should go for it in my opinion, it is the one product that is done and should be stellar, don't hold back. With the flavor of these cupcakes being nonexistent, the shop basically sells cake with food coloured frosting in individually wrapped portions, somewhat reminiscent of a grocery store cupcake. I give it two stars because the cake is actually good and Cupcake Royale can't even get that part right. Trophy Cupcakes is aptly named and I will leave it at that.

  • Berenice C.

I'm so over Trophy. I decided to give NY cupcakes a try since I am at Crossroads with my one year old quite often. I thought the frosting on the Soho strawberry was amazing! It was so fluffy, not too sweet. I think their prices might be slightly lower than Trophy and if you buy 4,6, or a dozen they give you a lower price. I think it's a great place to enjoy a cupcake in the Bellevue area without having to "brave" the snobs at The Bravern.

  • Guga D.

The cupcakes look much better than they taste. The cupcakes cost much more than they should have. The place itself is retro-cute, but I didn't come for the place, I came for the cupcakes, and was really disappointed.

  • Jasmine M.

The building I work in was bought by one company then sold by that company. Anyhoo, the current owners bought everyone in the building, and it's a big ass building, cupcakes from New York. It took me awhile to peruse the selection. The teal one was pretty, the orange one was precious, the yellow one was too yellow, and the brown one was ... well, brown. I picked the brown one. When it comes to food items with the word cake in them, I tend to take the ones that look like chocolate. The one I picked was an amaretto yummy moist pillow of cupcakey love. It wasn't too big or dried out or powdery tasting. It was a solid attempt at a homemade cupcake. Loads better then Royale. I still need to try Trophy.

  • tahira n.

Okay, I have got to say this is the best cupcake place EVER. It totally hits the right spot. I love the soho strawberry and red velvet the BEST. I tried the others, but somehow, their frostings all taste the same to me. this place is better than trophy cupcakes for sure.

  • Sharon K.

I was so taken by the cute layout and the cute seating they have outside. I ordered a chocolate chip mint cupcake to-go. Cute little container. I shared it with my little sister and was disappointed by the quality of it. The frosting wasn't very good and the cupcake itself tastes like Pillsbury mix that I use when I bake my own at home.

  • Kirsti H.

I was lured in here by a holiday eggnog flavored cupcake promotion. I went in for one cupcake, and was not overly thrilled with the place. PRICING: It was expensive. I paid over $2.50 for a single cupcake. Now, if this had been The World's Best Cupcake, I wouldn't have thought twice, but... THE CUPCAKES: It wasn't bad, by any means. But for the over $2.50 price tag, I was rather disappointed. The cupcake itself was not flavored eggnog, only the icing. The cupcake was a vanilla flavored cupcake. It had been advertised as an "eggnog cupcake" so I was caught a little off guard. I expected more than flavored frosting, basically. The vanilla flavoring outweighed the eggnog considerably. While somewhat tasty, this is not an establishment I would seek out on a regular basis, nor will I likely go to again.

I love New York Cupcakes but I'm sad that they've closed their downtown Seattle and Bellevue square mall location. But it's for the best since I used to grab a cupcake everyday after work since the downtown location was across the street from work. Not good on the waist line. New York Cupcake started my love for the gourmet/more expensive cupcakes and ohh how I crave for a red velvet this very moment. Maybe tomorrow... =)

  • San Y.

Never bought or tried any of their cupcakes but every time when entering the Bellevue Sq Mall I would pass by the shop. I've never seen a customer buying their cupcakes. I dont see much selection of cupcakes either. I mean no wonder they don't have much customers...who would pay $2.50 for a single cupcake. What makes it a NY cupcake anyways? They look exactly like the cupcakes sold in supermarkets.

They're little packages of perfection. Cupcakes beautifully topped with buttercream frosting. I usually get the Long Island Lemon and it's like taking a moment out just to be happy. Everybody seems to go to Cupcake Royale, but I like the cupcakes here better, just no room to sit and chat with friends.

    (4)
  • Anca S.

$0.50 more than the ones at Cupcake Royale (which are $2) but at least four times as good. A little weird that there's no seating, but I rather enjoyed eating mine on a bench outside so I could enjoy the city in a haze of frosting-induced joy. When I stopped in for a second time I was told that the mini cupcakes are only available for special orders (in other words, you can't just walk in and buy one). They also had a bunch of day-old cupcakes at reduced price (something like $1.25). It took me forever to pick a cupcake flavor; the choices were fairly classic, but not in a boring way. They had about 8 different ones this time. Update 2-18-08: I had two more cupcakes from here right before they closed this location (Westlake). The cake part is still light and fluffy, the frosting is good but feels a little oily. I was comparing these against the ones at Dahlia Bakery and these came out slightly ahead.

These are the tastiest cupcakes in town. I love all the creative flavor ideas, especially the breakfast cupcakes! They are moist and the frostings that they use are my favorite.

Their cupcakes are one of the best I have had...But the customer service sucked ass!!! The girl in the back was loud & rude! The older woman was very cold & bitchy...But, I there for the cupcakes so, I will give em props...

I did not want to try cupcakes here because i've been scarred by the crappy cupcakes that have been touted by the Seattleites' 'famous' cupcake shops on the Westside. I was expecting a dry, stale piece of "s&*!" with "Grocery Store bakery" frosting - like the other shops sell - but was pleasantly surprised to find the opposite here. New York Cupcakes has moist cake, creamy frosting and a nice variety of flavors. I hope that this place will help people realize how bad some of the other cupcake shops are in Seattle.

  • Natasha S.

My best in-store cupcake experience ever! Guy at the counter was SO cheerful, helpful, and friendly; gave me and my friend free cupcakes to try and we were SOLD. Cupcakes were moist and tasted great even after I had to refrigerate+thaw them! Frosting is to die for and comes in so many flavors and colors. Coconut and Lemon are particularly delicious! Minus one star because I know for a fact they use boxed cake mix which really disappoints me... but the excellent customer service, array of flavors, and delicious frosting are still tops. Since my first New York Cupcakes visit more than a year ago I have eaten over three dozen cupcakes from the shop. (Only when I'm too lazy to make my own, of course!)

  • Bri W.

A-MA-ZING!!! These cupcakes kill any other cupcake! The are the best! They have a huge range of flavors including peanut butter and jelly! I would suggest looking at their website first because their flavors do change based on the day. My roomate and I have taken to buying two different cupcakes, splitting them and making our way through the different flavors. My favorite thus far is Chocolate Peanut Butter...you can not go wrong with a little peanut butter and chocolate! It is absolutely delicious!! They also have mini cupcakes and little frosting shots for $1!!

I like these cupcakes. I have been to others around here in Seattle and the eastside and these are my favorite. The cupcakes are yummy (in the words of my picky 4 year old), the decor is charming, the customer service is wonderful.. one person was rude but have not seen them in the bakery in about a year. I do not understand others complaints, but we are all entitled to our own opinion. I am not a one time customer here. Have been going for about 3 years now periodically for my sweet fix :)

i love their cupcakes!! it's just perfect taste... just so you know.. im not a big fan of pastries.. my bridal shower is coming up next month... instead of a 2-3tierd expensive cake.. i think im gonna go with NY cupcakes.. it just look pretty.. and also with many different flavors to choose from.. o! i loooove x1000 the interior in this shop.. i feel like im in the candy sweet land~ made my cupcake taste perfect!

The cupcakes are boring. They are over priced. Face it, you can get a box of Duncan Hines for $1.00 for a whole cake, so $2.50 per cupcakes is a rip off. The frosting is a heart attack waiting to happen, get a side of liptor with it. The cake is boring anyway. Rip off!!

The most moist cupcake I've ever had! The frosting was buttery and light. Probably the best frosting I've tasted in town.

I have a sad story to tell you. We were on the eastside meeting some friends for a birthday party. We didn't want to show up without a cake, but definitely didn't have time to stop by Trophy Cupcakes. The solution? New York Cupcakes in Bellevue Square, if you could call that a solution. The cupcakes were small and uninspiring. They were either chocolate or vanilla cupcakes with different flavored frosting. They reminded me of something that I could pick up from a grocery store. The birthday boy seemed impressed, but that's only because he hasn't had a Trophy yet.

  • Anna H.

True, the cupcakes are a bit pricey, but they're far better than other establishments that I've tried. The 5th Avenue cupcakes are by far the best, followed by the mint-frosted chocolate cupcakes (I forget what their name is). I would recommend them if you're in dire need of a "chocolate fix."

    (3)
  • B B.

Very light whipped frosting. Tasty but could use more flavor. More sugary than flavorful. Cupcakes can be dry at times. I've tried a few cupcakes from here and it can be hit or miss. Sometimes the service is great- other times- not so much. They do not have cups for water, you have to buy a bottle-even if you were choking on dry cupcake like I was.

if it were a game show, when i looked at the selection of cupcakes the sound effects would have gone "wah waaaaaaaah" then when i actually purchased one of them thinking "maybe they're tastier than what they look like" this is when bob barker pops in and says "the price is wrong, b*%@#" wah waaaaaah. i lived in new york. and these are not new york cupcakes. -5 stars

This place kicks cupcake royale's ass. Yes they lack marketing and fancy signs. It is not a place to linger, but to take your cupcake and go. But the cupcake royale cupcakes are dry and desiccated. I have eaten stale cake before, but I've never paid for cake that was stale right out of the box. My girlfriend got me a cupcake royale cupcake, I could barely choke it down. I bought her one of these puppies and she was eating the crumbs off her desk. The cake is moist and delicious. I don't recall much about the icing, but then again all icing is pretty much sugar flavored in my opinion. Making your own is the best, but if you're baking challenged, or you just want one, or you're downtown, this is a good alternative.

Oh my freaking gosh!!!!!!!!!!!!! These cupcakes are AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Hands down, best cupcake I've ever had in my 49 years of life. The store is just darling, and the salespeople were super friendly. The cake is super moist and fresh and really really yummy. The frosting is REAL buttercream - no shortening or fake taste. I loved that the frosting is light and fluffy and not too sweet. I've had cupcakes from other places in Seattle, and they just don't measure up at all to New York Cupcakes. I'm completely sold and this will be my go-to place for cupcakes from now on.

These cupcakes are good but I don't see what all the hype is. I'm not above enjoying one of their mini cupcakes when I happen to be at the mall, though. What I don't get is who would actually go to the mall, park, and walk a fair distance through the mall (and back out again) just to get these cupcakes. It's not like they have a storefront that's on the street. I will admit, however, that I myself did this for my kid's birthday party. But I was also already going to the mall for a lunch playdate with another mom and our kids. I don't think I would've made a special trip just for the cupcakes.

I wish there was an option to select negative stars! My review is based simply on customer service as I didn't get as far as to actually try the quality of the cupcakes. I made a mistake and forgot to place an order for a small charity event I was attending. Understanding in advance that I needed between three and four dozen minis, I called ahead just to see if they might be able to make it happen. I understood that I should have ordered the day before...and that the answer might have been no. What I didn't expect was the rude way the response was delivered. I told the girl on the phone I understood I had messed up and just wanted to check in and see what they could provide in advance of my request... so I made my it clear I didn't have any expectations. The response was received by someone who was totally irritated that I had the nerve to even ask the question. And further, pointed back out to me the obvious that I had not placed an order... No kidding! And I will NEVER be placing an order! The proper answer would have been a simple, and pleasant..."I'm sorry, we won't be able to fill that order today. I hope we can help you in the future. For orders more than (blank) we really recommend ordering at least 24 hours in advance." Watch your tone when you think people are on hold as well! Even if the person is not in front of you- customer service should be front of mind!

Yummy! This fairly new location of New York Cupcakes is conveniently located in Westlake Park. The perfect way to satisfy my mid day sweet tooth. Daily, they have around 10 flavors to choose from, all look very tasty. I always get the same thing, white cake with buttercream frosting, delicious! The $2.50 is a small price to pay for the smile on my face as I pop the last bite into my mouth.

We were going to blockbuster to rent a movie and saw this cute cupcake place when we were parking. We got our movie and headed over and looked at the cupcakes in the display case. They all sounded really good: red velvet, black and white, pb & j, etc. We decided to share a red velvet and when I went to order, I asked for "one red velvet cupcake." The rude response I got was "how many TOTAL are you guys going to get, and are you going to eat it HERE or togo?" I said just one and for here. and ignored her comment. We sat down with our cupcake and saw the table was wet so my bf went to ask for napkins, she was a TOTAL B**** about it, like it was OUR fault for the table being wet. I kinda ignored it, but was not happy about that attitude. The cupcake wasn't even that great, i was expected cream cheese frosting, but it was kinda heavy, too buttery, frosting, and the cupcake itself was oily (my fingers were kinda greasy after eating it). So i definitely would NOT come back here, and after reading reviews, i'm not the first person to be rudely served. New York Cupcakes looks extremely cute and their cupcakes look good too, but i guess the saying is correct "don't judge a book by its cover."

I am so sad to say I cannot give a good review to one of our favorite former neighborhood and local places due to their disturbing customer service and treatment of us, especially our young son. As I've read the reviews I see that treating people with respect is a sincere issue here and I can only hope that these reviews will in some way help their business and establishment proactively change this perception with kindness. From what I read and have experienced, it is the owners Mother. We have ordered many cupcakes and ice cream sandwiches for family and clients. We visit weekly after my son's rock climbing class and just this week spent a total of $50 there. They have a huge opportunity to be a special place in this community but with the cold, disrespectful, and truly degrading attitude, I just hope they can make a change somehow. On the opposite side of the spectrum, her husband is one of the most gracious and engaging people we have ever met. I truly hope this review ends up helpful to someone and to their business. Thank you.

I LOVE CUPCAKES! New York Cupcakes makes a fantastic little dessert! The shop is decorated adorably, the girl who help me was very personable & helpful. These cupcakes are so scrumptious, it is just a splendid little shop! The cupcakes are a little spendy at $3 per cupcake and if you get the filled ones they are $3.25, but i think a great cupcake is worth the price. They do have Mini Cupcakes which are just smaller versions of the normal flavors so if you are in the mood for a small cupcake commitment these are definitely for you. I have not tried their Gluten Free cupcakes yet, they are $3.75 per cupcake, but at least there is the option if you prefer or need a GF treat. Here are some of the flavors I have tried........ -Orange Dreamcicle: the cupcake is a white cake topped a light orange buttercream frosting and garnished with a candy orange slice. (This may be a simple combo but is one of my top fav's.) -Madison Avenue Mint Chocolate Chip: the cupcake is chocolate with chocolate chips baked in, topped with a mint buttercream frosting. (Definitely my favorite chocolate cupcake!) -Snicker Doodle Doo: the cupcake is a white cake with a faint splash of cinnamon and a buttercream frosting that has sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on top. (Different but in a good way.) -Very Berry Lemonade: the cupcake is a lemon cake with a strawberry filling and topped with a strawberry buttercream. (Delish!) -Lil Shirley Temple: the cupcake is a cherry cake, super moist and very flavorful. It is topped with a lime buttercream frosting and garnished with a candy lime slice and maraschino cherry. -Milk & Cookies: the cupcake is vanilla cake with a chocolate cookie crumb bottom and cookie pieces baked throughout the cupcake. It is topped with buttercream frosting and cookie pieces sprinkled on top. (This cupcake is super sweet, not one of my most favorites but still tasty.) Yum, Yum and Yum, I will definitely be going back as soon as i can!

These are NOT the best cupcakes around. I would give PinkaBella cupcakes my money any day over this place. The decor is really beautiful, as a cupcake place should be, and there is a nice selection of cupcakes, however, the cupcakes aren't so great. As far as the customer service goes... well I think alot of reviewers have already mentioned that it's not great, and they certainly don't get any awards for customer service from me. The girl stood looking at us like we were disrupting her day while we tried to decide which cupcake we wanted, and she seemed angry at me for buying a cupcake! People will stop going to your store if you continue getting reviews like this for not being welcoming... As the stars I've given it represent.... it's Meh!

I LOVE cupcakes and consider myself a cupcake aficionado. NY Cupcakes is GOOD! The cake is moist and the frosting is sweet but very light and fluffy so it doesn't feel too sweet. The shop is really cute, great art on the walls! I usually don't go to the eastside, because of all the snobs, but I was with a friend and I'm so glad we stopped into NY Cupcakes. The staff is so friendly and personable, I didn't even feel like I was in Bellevue! I'd love it if a NY opened up in North Seattle!

First of all, It's easy enough to make cupcakes at home that are completely awesome, so I'm not a huge store-bought cupcake fan anyway. But if you don't have the first clue about baking, or are OK with less tasty cupcakes (WHAT?!) then read on. I tried one of the strawberry pie cupcakes - vanilla/white cake cupcake, filled with strawberry goo and with white frosting. These cupcakes were better than grocery store quality, but didn't blow me away. They apparently have special flavors on Fridays, including this one with the pie crust. Basically the very bottom of the cupcakes have a thin layer of pie crust in them. I thought the crust part tasted like bland pre-made pie crust, though, so it actually detracted from the cupcake. And really, if it's not a flaky, tender pie crust then I wouldn't bother adding it. I might try some of their other varieties in the future, but I wouldn't go out of my way for these.

Got one today when I was at crossroads. It was ok but the same as QFC... more over is the rude service as if I'm s burden not a customer. First time and last time. QFC will get my business next time and just as good and cheaper.

I can't say enough about the professionalism and reliability of New York Cupcakes. Less than three weeks before our wedding, our original cupcake vendor suddenly closed it's doors, and informed us that they would be unable to uphold their contract with us. However, in no time at all, New York Cupcakes stepped up and helped out in a big way! They were able to meet with us quickly for a tasting, and said that they would be 100% willing and able to help us. They delivered the cupcakes, provided a stand, and set up an amazing display for our guests. THEY WERE A HIT! My mother can't stop talking about their Red Velvet. I would definitely recommend these guys for anyone looking for cupcakes, for any occasion.

Outstanding cupcakes and very friendly people. I picked up 15 cupcakes of 5 different flavors here for an office meeting. I had picked them up the previous evening and left them on the counter top till next morning and they were perfect. The cakes were beautifully moist and just spot on. The frosting was delicious, not overly sweet and held on just right without making a mess. Soft, fluffy and full of goodness I'd highly recommend these. I personally loved the vanilla bean and the chocolate shavings cupcakes. The salted caramel was great too. The lemon and the peanut butter were alright. Overall some great cupcakes but a tad too pricey. I'd surely go back here when I'm craving some cupcakes.

We've had cupcakes in a few different places around the Seattle area. These are the best. I know the decor is a little on the pink side -- but ignore that and get one of their cupcakes -- the frosting is lighter and creamier than any you have ever had!

My 1 star is mostly given for the customer service. I honestly felt very unwelcome during my whole visit. I even spent a gracious amount of money here because the cupcakes looked so amazing. The cake part of the cupcakes were perfect. Very moist and flavorful. The frosting in my opinion taste most like a mouthful of butter. The frosted was too whipped for my taste and the flavors were weak. I will never go back here due to my impression of customer service.

My wife and I have been going to New York Cupcakes since they opened their original Crossroads location. The one next to the old Blockbuster! (who remembers renting movies there!?) We have always loved their friendly service and their delicious cupcakes. Today they really took the cake!! (Yes, I just went there) I called the store about 15 minutes to 6 on Sunday , when they normally close, but they had already closed the shop due to selling through most of their inventory. Hearing the disappointment in my voice, they informed us that if would go ahead and stop by they would give us a six pack free!!! They really took care of me and my wife. I guarantee that we will be coming back for more!!!!! THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

The product: I drive across town for these cupcakes. I don't know what others are saying about the frosting, but I think the frosting is the best part of the whole cupcake, and the cake itself is always fresh and moist. In fact, the frosting is so good that I usually get a frosting shot (or two to go) at every visit. The Service: This store is named NEW YORK cupcake. When was the last time you met a New Yorker that was sweet and sugary? I'm not going into the shop to be fawned over, I'm there to buy expensive and super delicious cupcakes, I could care less if they are ringing bells and singing me songs when I walk in the door, I'm going to be in there all of 3 minutes anyway. This is what we get for letting all kids "win" in kids sports and academics, they grow up needing to be validated at Cupcake shops. Summary: Cute shop, easy to get to location, easy parking, they take all forms of payment, offer services and parties, local made ice cream treats, and their buttercream frosting is made from real organic butter, NOT Crisco [ahem, cough cough PinkaBella!] 5 star cupcakes with an attitude!

I should have read the reviews before I purchased my Amazon Local voucher - $12 for $20 credit. Even though I received 7 cupcakes for $13, it was still a waste. The two women were so unfriendly and grouchy. One was probably the owner, shame on her... I started asking questions about the flavors and one of them cut me off and asked if I had a voucher and proceeded with all their limitations. I knew the limitations before I bought the voucher. It excluded more than 2 cupcakes of any 1 flavor at their discretion. I wanted 7 cupcakes that were either chocolate or vanilla with a plain frosting. The only cupcakes they had without any candies, fillings or other unique flavorings were the "Seahawks" (just blue and green, nothing "Seahawks" about them except the color) cupcakes. Of course those I was limited to two. I tried explaining I'd pick out any flavors to use up my voucher then order the Seahawks ones - so paying out of pocket. They wouldn't allow it. So I guess I could have walked out to the car and sent my husband in to buy more Seahawks cupcakes? It just didn't make sense. They said they cost way more to make. I highly doubt that. Horrible customer experience. I was buying cupcakes for 2/3 year olds, I just wanted plain. I can't believe they didn't have anything plain except for the ones they were limiting. Not only was the whole experience a bad one, they were the worst tasting cupcakes I've ever purchased.

I have to agree with some other reviews that the service was pretty unwelcoming and unfriendly. They made us feel like they didn't want us there. We were the only ones in the shop at the time. I asked one of the ladies there what her favorite flavor was since it was our first time and she said everything is good. So we picked salted caramel and then my son picked a Seahawks themed one. He was indecisive about chocolate or vanilla, green or blue, football or not...he's 3 years old so pretty normal. She didn't seem amused with his indecisiveness. We paid promptly and sat down to share the two cupcakes. There were four of us plus my son and she gave us two forks. So he five of us shared the two forks - I felt kind of uncomfortable asking for extra ones. Sounds silly but that's just how it was. After we were done eating we started to get up - hadn't even pushed the chairs in yet and she was telling us to bus our own tables. She instructed us to bus our dishes and pointed us to the area and reminded us not throw away the plates. We quickly bussed our dishes - frankly I felt like we were getting in trouble or something. It was more than a little weird. Didn't really thank us for coming or anything and we walked out quietly. Oh and the cupcakes - not good and very overpriced at $4 each. The frosting tasted like butter as some other reviews have noted and was overly sweet. The cake was too fluffy and not very flavorful. Won't be visiting again.

I got 6 cupcakes, paid almost $20 for it. I asked the lady if she could kindly give me a 2 cupcake container so I could separate my husband's (the other cupcakes are for my brother and mom and dad). She said it's for .50c.. Really?! I was only asking for 1 and not 10 of them! She said you should have told me earlier. I counted my change, I was .10c short so I said if I could just use my card and she said I would need to charge you a transaction fee. So I said well nevermind then.. Don't want to go through all that. She thought really hard and against her free will finally said give me your change and I'll get the rest from the tip jar. Well geez lady thanks! She wasn't friendly from the get-go, she was telling the other girl to stop mopping the floor, it's not nice. Like she was scolding her in front of customers! When we were picking the flavors, you could tell and feel she is impatient. I will never buy from this store again. Didn't tip her that's for sure!

I love what they have done to this place! It's like a doll house, everything is decked out in pink!! I love the color pink!! Yes, I just admitted that on YELP! Who cares?? The atmosphere of the place gives me that happy feeling, everything is a mixture between old school and new-modern style. LOVE IT! Anyways, the cupcakes were ok. Cupcakes are $3.00 each. I normally come here for their 5th avenue or the salted caramel cupcake (I think that's the name) or their peanut butter & Jelly cupcakes.. Nothing too spectacular about the cupcakes, I have had better cupcakes at other places, but I wouldn't rule them out. To me, some of the cupcakes are too sweet, and some are just right.. It's like a hit or miss situation. Oh their peanut butter & jelly cupcakes is a saturday only special, and it's only while supplies last!

Wow. Just walking by on the way to the movies and saw this place and decided to stop by. I had the Central Park and damn it was so moist and tasty. Almost like it wasn't there. I will be making the drive over for these when I'm in the mood for cupcakes!!

New York??? What's the deal with the name? When you think of New York cupcakes, you think big, there is nothing big about this place at all, the cupcakes or the store. I liked this place, it was actually pretty nice, and the women who was working was very friendly. The cupcakes were good, and the whole visit was nice. I'm just not in love with it like I hoped that I would be, but I'd go back for a treat.

I fell in love with these cupcakes the first time I had them and that hasn't changed. I never been in the store since it is a bit out of the way for me to go there - I hate driving to crossroads.I am getting married this summer and definitely wanted to consider them for cupcakes. So I called ahead of time to make the appointment and they let you choose 10 flavors to try but you can only try what is on the menu for that day which is kind of a bummer because we could only do it on a saturday basically since they are busy every other day with events and weddings. I dont really care for lemon or red velvet types of cake so that made picking 10 flavors kind of hard. Oh well, we got there and I was thinking that they were going to give us a whole mini cupcake and ten of them...basically lets just say I fasted all morning for these treats. Luckily that wasn't the case, we basically shared a mini cut in half for us to try which was a relief. I really liked there 5th Avenue which is just chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. It is just so moist and flavorful. All of them were in fact. The store is super cute how it is decorated and the cupcake display is beautiful! I thought the ladies were really nice and the staff was greeting everyone who came into the shop so I am not sure why this place has bad reviews on the staff, maybe it is just a few in particular. Too bad because I think their cupcakes are delicious. I also found out that they can so small cutting cakes which I didn't know. Since that is something that we are also considering. I left with a couple cupcakes to take home, I got 6 mini's for my family and it was only $9 (1.50 a cupcake) which really isn't bad. That seems to be the going rate.

A few things: Generally the service isn't great. I went in to buy cupcakes (about my 7th visit), and there was no warmth (again). I asked for the cupcakes to be put in individual containers (I was dropping them off as surprises for 3 different people), and the woman seemed unhappy with that. I also HATE the fact that you have to buy almost $20 worth of cupcakes at a time to get a punch card credit! Sometimes I get a dozen minis, but usually it's 2-4 at a time. I'd appreciate credit even at the $10 level - would probably push me to buy 4 instead of 3 on some occasions. The cupcakes are good, however. The cake is moist, and I like the Oreo frosting and also the Red Velvet cupcakes. It's a little too 'girly' inside for my tastes, but I like the retro vibe, which is quirky. It's difficult to give them only 3 stars because the place is clean, the cupcakes aren't outrageous cost wise, but I just have a hard time with the attitude. If you want someone to come into your shop and continue to go there, BE NICE. A smile won't kill you, honest to God! A nice, 'Thank you, hope to see you again', goes a long way, (especially with me), but you don't get that here. The best I got was, 'Do you have those?' whilst juggling three containers. I like that it's not a big chain, and now they serve ice cream sodas and other treats and I'm glad to see that, but they really need to work on customer service, and I see I'm not alone in thinking that! To-day, after another blah greeting and attitude I just had to post.

I went here once before and I really loved their shop and their cupcakes. I saw them on amazon local and purchased a voucher for a dz cupcakes. It was a good deal I thought but there are so many restrictions and THEN I got home and more than half of my cupcakes had flipped over! So annoying!! Who's goin eat cupcakes at a party that look like that!! There were 2 girls tere once that was helping me was nice but the other one just stood there like a frikin idiot! I asked for a bag and she mentioned that the bag would make the cupcakes flip. Well news flash it's NOT the bag!! It's the frikin box!! Good grief you would think common sense would kick in and you would order better boxes!! Sheesh!! Won't be back here ever again!!!

Cute little store front. It looks like a candy shop almost since they offer candy inside as well. Cupcakes look pretty on display. Frosting is too sickly sweet for my liking though. And the actual cake itself was just okay. They offer frosting 'shots', which is kinda disgusting...esp after I've tasted their extra sweet frosting. Lady behind the counter was a little rude after she found out I was accompanying someone there (who placed an order for ME for my birthday) and that I wasn't actually buying anything myself.

  • Trisha R.

This place should definitely have a higher rating! I placed an order for an event - site and taste unseen - and was more than pleased with the assortment of cupcakes that arrived. They were packaged well for transport, competitively priced (not that any cupcake is cheap), and as delicious as they were beautiful. Perfect for a corporate event.

I'd give this place zero stars if I could. How are these guys still in business? Safeway cupcakes or QFC cupcakes are probably better. I've always been a Trophy Cupcake fan but when my friend asked me to come to New York Cupcakes with her I obliged. Got here and ordered a couple cupcakes. After leaving I took a few bites of the red velvet I had in my hand and spit it back out. Seriously, how do you fail on a red velvet cupcake? I figured maybe it was a bad batch so I tried a few others of what I got and what a disappointment. Never again will I go back. I'll stick to Trophy Cupcakes. They don't disappoint. If you enjoy the cupcakes from New York then you seriously don't know a good cupcake. P.S. Groupon has a deal for Trophy Cupcakes. Get it and you won't be disappointed!

You want to know what I like about New York Cupcakes? -The pink champagne is RIDICULOUS. Although it's a seasonal cupcake it's honestly just ridiculous. -You walk in and feel like nothing less than a girly girl with the pink décor. For having a little girl this place is truly like being in a candy store. -Fun events, such as photographers for holidays use the store for special shoots. The staff could be just a little bit more friendly, not that they aren't, but well, they could be a little bit more cheerful for working in a cupcake store making people's days all day long. I know that the few chances I get to indulge it would be nice to have a smiley person behind the counter, not a cranky crankerson. Overall, I really like NY Cupcakes.

The cupcakes are delicious and moist. The staff can be rude and snappy when asking questions. Which I really dislike about this place. The new your black and white is delicious. My favorite is the red velvet cupcake.

Am I irrational enough to justify having New York Cupcake's cinnamon-apple-vanilla cupcake stuffed with apple pie filling, and brown sugar and cinnamon buttercream for breakfast? By no means will I kid myself that this cupcake is healthy (however it does have dairy and fruit...), I do believe that it is a darn good cupcake -- moist and sweet. As they only serve this "breakfast cupcake" from 10-Noon, I easily decided that their Apple of My Eye cupcake is not only good enough for breakfast, but they should serve it anytime! --- Side note: for all credit purchases under $5, there is a service charge!

Interesting...I was reading some of the reviews on here and laughed! I experienced the same level of rudeness while doing a wedding tasting. My daughter specially created a Yelp account JUST to leave a review regarding the horrible service we received, and lo and behold, neither of our reviews are on here any longer. Reading these, I firmly believe it was the owner we were dealing with during our tasting, and she could learn a thing or 500 from her lost customers. Quit making excuses and providing an answer to everything; just make it right. You're in the business of customer SERVICE, not customer condescension.

Should have known better! Second time here to receive same level of poor service. Bought a groupon - read the limitations, fought traffic to arrive to a annoying hand written note that indicated groupons are not eligible this weekend. Cupcakes are sold everywhere - I will not be coming back here. Just doesn't have to be so hard!

Cupcakes are way overpriced for their quality. Coming from New York, these cupcakes don't compare to more than half of the cupcake stores in the city. Customer service is less to be desired. If the cupcakes are that terrible, then customer service usually makes up for it by being cheerful. Such a shame too, it's such a cute store but it's just filled with sour women and overpriced cakes.

  • Polly H.

Could I give no star at all? Poor service and I won't come back after I used up my Groupon Voucher. Hopefully the old cranky lady not the owner, otherwise I am wondering how long they will stay in business.

Best snicker doodle doo cupcake! Sad part is that it is not a standard cupcake in their cases, it's a special once or twice a week. I overheard that they make them fresh daily and if you come in early enough you can get "day old" cupcakes. The cashier didn't want to give me a bag since she said that she doesn't trust that the bag will not smash the cupcakes... I said I would rather put them in a bag than drop them as I walked out into the rain getting to my car. This was the second time the same cashier second guessed me. The other time was when I was purchasing under the credit card amount and she said "are you sure you want to use your card. There is a fee since it is not meeting the minimum charge. " I replied yes, I know and that I didn't have enough cash so card it had to be... I am sure she meant to be helpful.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVERRRRR! I called in my order for cupcakes a week prior and asked if I could pick up the cupcakes at 10:45am on Sunday. The reason I asked was because I knew that they opened at 11am on Sundays. The girl on the phone assured me that the cupcakes would be ready by 10am and that I could pick them up anytime after. THEN a few days later, a girl called me to ask me about my order because she had noticed that I had "Sunday flavors" on my order but the order was placed for Saturday. I clarified that I needed the cupcakes for Sunday and so she confirmed and hung up. When I went to pick up the cupcakes this morning, I was running late and arrived at 10:56am. I saw them opening up the store and ran over to tell them that I was here to pick up my order. The one girl and the older lady kept telling me that they weren't open yet and to give them a minute. I told them that I had a order but they kept saying that they were open at 11am. Finally they let me in but the older lady said to me in the most sassiest way, " We still have a few minutes!" I was soooooo annoyed because if they had told me from the get go that I couldn't pick up the cupcakes till 11am I would have been fine. But the fact that they had told me that I could pick them up ANYTIME after 10am and then yell at me for coming early really pissed me off. Even my friend was horrified at the way they were treating me. THEY SUCK! I would NEVER go back just because of the horrrrrrrible customer service! Find another cupcake store!

Hands down the best cupcakes I've ever had. First tried at a wedding and now anytime I'm in the area or need to buy a gift to bring to an event... NY cupcakes it is.

I bought a living social voucher here in anticipation of my daughter's birthday party. Since it said call 48 hours ahead, I called 4 days prior to pick up. Apparently they only sell a set number per day for the voucher and they were all sold out for the day I needed the cupcakes. Next available date was a week out....too late for my party. Also, you can only order certain flavors, no specialty cupcakes. The person who answered my call was short and curt. I usually give a business a second chance but they were the same the next time I called. Seemed like they weren't too thrilled about honoring the coupon.

Was at crossroads so decided to pop in and grab cupcakes to "celebrate" my deceased son's 5th birthday tomorrow at the mausoleum, which is an incredibly hard day every year. Walked in, the place reeked of bleach and cupcakes- nice. As I'm looking at what's available, the older woman behind the counter was super short, didn't want to give me time for anything so I very quickly just asked for the 4-pack and picked 4 cupcakes. She then looked like she was about to jump over the counter when my 3yo was too near a cheap sparkly decorative pumpkin on display- which I then hollered at her not to touch. I asked if they had numerical candles. Reply "NO." I paid $15 for 4 cupcakes that were in a plastic pack. I asked for a sack to carry them- AFTERALL I have to hold my kids hand and the cupcakes as we walk back through the mall or around the building to our car- plus it's awkward to be carrying a 4 pack around without a bag! She said they didn't have bags and tapped on the plastic packaging "THIS IS OUR PACKAGING". Uh, what!? I had a travel sack in my purse and put them in there, and of course since it doesn't have a flat bottom to carry cupcakes around upright, within 2 minutes they all smashed in "their packaging". What a huge waste of money. Went into QFC for a candle- should have gotten them there for a fraction of the price. What a b****! Incredibly rude. Won't be back.

The Good: The store looks amazing and is very fit for a cupcake shop. The cupcakes are meh. The Bad: The staff have attitudes like some vegans do; their choice is superior to yours at all times. The Ugly: The bit you take and find out the frosting is greasy and the cakes are loose and crumbly. Conclusion: I wanted to like this place. It looked cute, quaint, and the food looked appetizing. But the people and the quality was beyond poor, and the price was too high considering.

Best cupcake I have ever had! Super soft and fluffy, I wanted to eat 15 of them. A little pricy but well worth a little treat. Awesome staff and cool little pink store gives it a girly feel but it made me fall in love with this place.

Cupcakes are pretty good - nothing spectacular but generally good. The cake is very dense and oily, heavy stuff so definitely requires a fork. The main reason for two stars is due to consistent rude/short attitude by the ladies behind the counter. On multiple visits they were rude to me and observed similar attitude towards other customers. It's almost as if they can't be bothered to serve a cupcake or explain what a flavor is. You run a cupcake business for a living.. how can you not be a happy person. If at all possible I recommend trophy cupcakes over New York for quality and service every time.

Cute shop, nice staff, amazing cupcakes! Also, I took a cupcake decorating class around Christmas time and that was so much fun. If you see a class pop up make sure to sign up early... Classes fill fast. :)

OMG! LOVE the frosting. So light, fluffy and buttery! For $3 you can get one cupcake, and 4 for $12. The place is tiny, and VERY pink. The service was great, they said hi when we entered, helped with explaining the flavors and neatly packing the cakes in the container with out damaging the frosting. The lemon love was to my surprise not lemony, but still good. I'm not a red velvet chic but my GF is and she liked it. She wished the frosting was cream cheese though. We tasted the pink champagne which was tasty as well. But my favorite was the COOKIES & CREAM frosting on white cake! OMG the best cupcake I have ever tasted! The cakes are so moist. But the frosting is what makes these cupcakes stand out. I'LL BE BACK!

I am a lover of cupcakes, and this place has my favorite. They have a great selection daily, (and a schedule so you know when to come in for your favorites.) But no matter when you go in there will be something that sounds good. They have a lot of unique combos I've never seen anywhere else and they're visually appealing. The cupcakes are made on site with real butter buttercream (not crisco) something you don't find at most cupcake shops. The prices are lower than other places too. I go on Sunday to get the Cha Cha cherry and it's to die for every time! Also they have mini cupcakes with at least 4-6 different flavor choices which is great for my tot. Now most people complain about the customer service but while I find it's not the friendliest no one has ever been rude to me. I chat with an older lady there when I go and she's polite and thanks me for my business. The decorations are adorable, perfect for a cupcake shop, so the drive from Woodinvile is so worth it to me.

Came here to see what all the reviews are about. You do have to make a special trip here as it's quite a ways off from the I-405. Parking is available directly in front. The inside is completely pink, and looks like something you'd find in a candy shop. Staff are 100% female, some with vintage/hipster haircuts/clothing you'd find from 1950. Very friendly, and also very busy. Guess word has gotten out here. The presentation on the cupcakes is very nice. Which is good, because they're $3 each(!?) when purchased in singles. Obviously the price comes down if you pick up a dozen. Bacon maple - they didnt' skimp on the bacon. Nice fluffy icing. Also not sickening sweet, which is a plus. That's a common mistake, which this place thankfully avoids. Boston creme - also nice and fluffy. Nice filling inside. One last thing - the decorative bicycle out front doesn't actually move. Yes, I checked the mechanism (or lack thereof). One of the better cupcakeries I've been to in a long time. Not sure if I'd come here everyday though. Also I don't think I can eat more than 2 at a time.

The cupcakes here are the best in Seattle. Bar none. Only Yellow Leaf comes close. The owner, and all the employees, are fantastic. The new store is AMAZING. People who give one star reviews because they're not smart enough to read the terms of their Living Social deal? Should take some remedial English classes. Go to NYCC. Buy cupcakes. Enjoy. Wife and I walk here almost weekly for our occasional indulgence, and have never been disappointed. Sad to see so many people incapable of reading trying to ruin a great store.

My favorite cupcakes in Washington/Oregon. Every time I try a cupcake, it is compare to NYC, and they normally pale in comparison by a lot. The best selection is earlier in the day, especially for the specials. The store is super cute and they offer cupcake themed items for sale. Check their website for a daily list of flavors and friend them on Facebook for specials. When I first started visiting the store a couple years ago, the employees were not always the nicest but that's been fixed, thankfully. When I had a problem with a 6-pack awhile ago, they were great about and not only refunded my money but gave me a free 6-pack on my next visit (turns out they had gotten a bad batch of chocolate). And, they are locally & privately owned. I love New York Cupcakes!!

Basically the best cupcakes you will ever eat. The cake is moist and delicious, the flavors inspired and the butter cream frosting is the standard to which all others aspire to. The decorators can do some amazing creations and the staff here is always nice. Do yourself a favor and try the best cupcakes in the world and see for yourself. Just be warned you will be spoiled for life.

Greedy Cupcake Demons! I referred so many people to this business over the last few years and i regret it all! The customer service basically sucks. I too, bought a living social voucher. I tried to place an order like a freaking week ahead of time only to be told that they weren't accepting any more orders for the freaking day i needed them (i made 2 attempts to order a week or more ahead) ....and i had to use the voucher before it expired. Two failed attempts to use my voucher. So the voucher expired...... I called them today, because i can use the value i paid for the voucher $16 (since the promotional value expired)...yes I called them ahead of time to ask if i can use the voucher TODAY. So i drive all the way there only to be told that i cannot use it on holidays....what the hell??? I called ahead of time so now its a freaking waste of gas and time to be told now that i cannot use it. This place is a SCAM and they just want to take your money and not provide you any return. I will NEVER step foot in that place again. I will refer everyone to trophy cupcakes..oh and by the way, they have a great groupon deal going now and according to my friend they have way better customer service. Customer service is everything....if you cannot provide good customer service...then you will not last!!!! groupon.com/deals/trophy…

I used to love their cupcakes. But these women are RUDE! I like a ton of other reviewers purchased a Living Social deal. First I didn't see the STUPID 48 hour requirement and went into the store. They REFUSED to let me use the certificate even though they have at least 20 dozen cupcakes in the case. Really? I mean I understand there is fine print but a smart business owner would just SELL CUPCAKES!!! Then I called SEVEN TIMES and every time they said they could not take my order because they could not meet the demand. Now the certificate is expired and they CONTINUE to refused to extend the expiration to meet the demand, WOW! I WILL NEVER GIVE THEM A PENNY! And I will demand a refund. RUDE RUDE RUDE!

Recently New York Cupcakes seems to have changed their recipe (or ingredient quality) for the significantly worse. The cake itself is so greasy and heavy that it's nearly impossible to eat without a fork. That is kind of defeating the point of a cupcake! The old frosting used to be fluffy and whipped and sugary and amazing! Now it tastes more like a solid stick of butter sculpted into a frosting swirl shape. Given the taste I would guess one cupcake is about 1,000 calories. If I had 1,000 calories to blow I'd rather eat four regular cupcakes, or... a whole pizza. Every flavor tastes like vanilla (or really, "white"), no matter what fancy name they give to it. I was eating what I thought was a lemon cake and then realized it was supposed to be strawberry. You should not be able to mix those up!! The customer service at New York Cupcakes has always been quite terrible, but their cupcakes were so good it was worth overlooking. Now I don't even think I'd want one if it was free and I *definitely* wont be driving all the way to Bellevue for them.

My fabulous pal bought me a whole container of cupcakes from here for my birthday! The cake is probably one of the nicest, moistest, most flavorful cakes I've had in a while (in terms of cupcakes). I actually kept them in the fridge, because I like the frosting not to be too soft, and the cake held up super well despite the temperature, and the time (I ate them all over the course of a week). I wasn't a big fan of the frosting, and that's what knocks this review down a few stars. Too whip-creamy for me. I like frosting to taste more like sugar. However, I will say that the cupcakes were really beautifully decorated and presented! The fact that they held up their deliciousness after several days is a big plus as well. Overall, the Oreo cupcake was my favorite!

Looks like I'll be jumping on the bandwagon of people who have had horrible experiences with Living Social deals and the employees at this location! It's absurd to me that a company would offer something like a Living Social voucher and then treat voucher holders as if there is some sort of cupcake caste system. I really wish I could review this business as Yelp intended me to, as a review of their cupcakes... but it seems that trying to get cupcakes from this business is near impossible. One would think that if your voucher says it expires on a certain date that it would be good until that date, but this is not true in the time paradox where New York Cupcakes exists. In their own special world, you would have to order the cupcakes 48 hours in advance, and the only way to know this would be through your psychic abilities, because ABSOLUTELY nowhere does it state this in the fine print of the voucher. If it did in fact say that in the voucher, maybe all of these Yelp reviewers might be reviewing your cupcakes instead of being too angry to even bother with your business. Seeing all of these rightfully pissed off people does make me feel a little better, but the fact remains that New York Cupcakes could use A LOT of help in the customer service department. I called expecting to order cupcakes to pick up later in the week (as the voucher mentioned ordering 48 hours prior to pick-up) and was met with a rather sour girl on the other end of the line who in so many words said 'tough cupcakes' with excuses ranging from "we're all booked up" to "you didn't call 48 hours in advance". At one point I was asking a question and explaining my frustration as she continued to yell and speak over me. I was polite, did not use any curse words and even said thank you very much before hanging up on her. I am a fellow business owner and have participated in flash sales on popular shopping sites and would NEVER speak to a customer the way I was spoken to today. I would never make the customer pay for my oversight, which in this case was offering too many vouchers for a demand that "your little shop" couldn't handle. I still can't figure out what the January 22nd expiration date is referring to because they obviously didn't have any intention of honoring it. Have you ever heard of the old business adage that "a happy customer tells a friend and an unhappy customer tells the world"? Have you ever thought about the fact that you have no idea who is on the other end of the phone while you're mindlessly yelling into it? While the jack wagons at this place Google the definition of customer service I'll be at Cupcake Royale paying full price and being treated like a human being.

what a disappointment! i've tried so many of their cupcakes and the ONLY one i enjoyed was their cookies and cream cupcake. all the other ones were just...blahhhhh. perhaps i've just been blow away by trophy cupcakes that i'm very biased. but seriously, even their red velvet one was off! they don't even use cream cheese for their red velvet cupcake frosting, only butter cream. how is it a red velvet cupcake if it doesn't have cream cheese? not only are their cupcakes disappointing, but so is the service. i'm assuming the woman who i've always encountered there is the owner or the main baker? but she is NOT friendly to say the least. every time i asked a question about a flavor (because i want a description of the cupcake before buying it) she would act so annoyed or careless! she never smiles or even acts like she appreciates your business. you can find me at trophy's :)

I was a huge fan of New York Cupcakes, until I bought a Living Social deal for them. I've called 3 times now and tried to get an order. Calling BEFORE the "48 hour notice" they require and they are ALWAYS booked for at least a week. My living social deal is expiring on the 22nd. The girl on the phone just told me they are booked until the 23rd, I could use it on the 23rd(except, oh wait, I can't, because it is expired, and they won't honor it). I used to be a huge fan of this place, and loved their cupcakes. But no more, this Customer Service is atrocious and not worth it. They always have Living Social deals available, but DO NOT BUY IT. I'm done. I'll be taking my cupcake business elsewhere and getting a refund on my deal.

A friend in Bellevue wanted to get some cupcakes and we stopped in here because I know they taste amazing - however we encountered the same problem as before. The staff was rude and just acted like we were an inconvenience. I hate that their cupcakes are so good, but I won't be returning again. 2nd time was not a charm.

The cupcakes themselves are not terrible, but in my opinion not as good as Trophy & Cupcake Royale. The cake itself is good and very moist, however more oily than I would prefer. I do not enjoy the frosting, and find myself scraping most of it off. Overall, the cupcakes are too sugary and rich for me. Like many other reviewers on here I was burned by New York Cupcakes when trying to use a LivingSocial deal I purchased. I do realize that the terms and conditions said "Subject To Availability", but I would have never guessed that the availability of cupcakes would be booked for weeks in advance. Since they would not honor the voucher for the deal because of lack of availability, I was allowed to use the LivingSocial deal for the amount I paid. I had to fork over additional money in order to get half the cupcakes I had originally paid for, which I though was stingy of them. I am surprised a store that sells luxury items has such bad customer service. Usually shops like this bend over backwards for their customers. I understand that they are a small business and cannot handle the demand, but it seems like they could have handled things a lot better.

I have tried three times to redeem my Living Social coupon and all three times I was told "we cannot accommodate your request". When I asked why she said "we are a small bakery and we only bake so many cakes at a time". When I asked if I could come in at closing she told me I would have to call an hour before to see if they had enough left. It seems as though they treat Living Social customers differently than other customers because there was someone else in the store at the same time I was buying 24 cupcakes from the shelf. All three times, they were rude, unwelcoming and disrespectful. I've requested a refund from Living Social and as promised, am leaving a Yelp review. And on a side note: I purchased a similar deal for Pinkabella Cupcakes which expired before I had chance to use it. I went into their store knowing full well I could only use the paid for price, but when the owner saw I was purchasing cupcakes for a special occasion, she honored the coupon AND took some extra time to decorate the cakes.

This whole cupcake thing is still new to me. It's not that I don't trust it, and it's certainly not that I don't have a sweet tooth. Because I have a sweet tooth, and I am ready to put my trust in cupcakes. It's just that it takes a little outside motivation to steer me into one of these places. Could it be that the tables and chairs are slightly miniaturized, and everything is pink, or red and white, and has a bit of that doodly aesthetic? Possibly. I mean, even the fridge here is pink--full-on creamy blushing bashful pink. I'd like to think I'm as in touch with my feminine side as the next man, of course. But my four-year-old feminine side might be a little bit out of reach, and this place does have that stuffed-animal tea-party thing happening. A li'l bit. I'm not saying this is anything but the right move for a cupcake place. I'm just saying: as a truck-driving, football-watching, beer-swilling guy (with, admittedly, a sweet tooth), well, I did notice these things. But what matters here are the cupcakes. They have one little case of them with a tightly defined list of regulars and a couple specials. It's like a little bistro menu that way; organized and edited thoughtfully to maximize both appeal to the customers as well as the ability of the ovens to crank out fresh goodness and joy. I had the snicker-doodle-doo cupcake. This will in all likelihood be the last GD time you ever hear me say "snicker-doodle-doo," so mark your calendars. It was truly delicious, neither gloppy nor crumbly. Lots of tasty frosting, and there was a very fresh and soft teddy-bear-shaped graham cracker on top. They poured me a cup of steaming hot earl grey tea to go with it. I went and ate grilled meat immediately afterward. Kept me from having to mount a search party for my Y chromosome. Seriously, this place makes good cupcakes. I absolutely understand that.

Absolutely the BEST cupcakes EVER! I will drive from Seattle all the way to Bellevue just to get a cupcake. It isn't a birthday if I don't get a New York Cupcake every year! The unique flavors are the most cake just makes for a perfect combo! Make sure you pick up a punch card when you get a dozen. It is worth the drive and you thank me later!

I use to love New York cupcake. The customer service has alway been poor. They use to have really great quality. The quality had however gone down hill in the last year. About six months ago we came in and ordered a six pack. These were seriously dry cupcakes. I called and the owner got back to me. I explained the customer service issues we have experienced and she blamed it on her mother who had a brain injury. She resolved this by offering a free six pack even though I had explained we drive all the way from Tacoma. This last week we went in and her mother had asked what we wanted. While we were figuring it out. Without even asking politely if she could help the next customer. She just went on and help them. To me this was very rude. We ordered our cupcakes and noticed they barely had any frosting. We have come to expect a lot of frosting, that's the whole point. There was almost none. The last issue is that we use to buy the half price dozen but recently they started a rule were you can only get two of the same flavor. This is the final straw and my family are on the search for a new place. I will no longer be raving about New York cupcakes. This will also be my first review on Yelp. Cupcake places are popping up all over so my hope is that their quality and customer service issues get resolved so they remain in business. In regards to the business owners response. They did replace a previous batch of cupcakes. Those cupcakes were dry. This cupcake was from another attempt to get the quality we had previously been use too. This review was posted because when I sent a message on Facebook regarding this situation I got ignored. This was our last attempt to get cupcakes up to the quality we had come to expect. As I can see from current reviews the cupcakes are really losing quality. It's a shame instead of apologizing on here and asking what she can do to make up for it, she wants to protest what was wrong. Now that just is not great customer service in my opinion. You can make up for it once and fix the issue but this is a whole separate issue than the first time. As for the coupons it is not as simple as she stated. We have had several issue along with everybody that have reviewed on here with their coupons. So no I will not be returning and continue to spread the negative word about this place and the people that work there.

Holy hell these cupcakes are good. I have had nothing but good experiences here, and the cupcakes are just about perfect. Beautiful, delicious, moist, and creative. The women who work here have been friendly and sweet to us every time we've been in there. It seems that most of the people here who've ranked it low have had problems expressly with the Living Social coupon, and I suspect that's an issue with the fine-print rather than a real problem with the shop itself. Otherwise there must be some kind of Jekyll and Hyde personality rift to this store, and I just haven't seen Hyde yet--because every time I've been in there it's made my day.

New York Cupcakes are by far the best around. Super moist cake, incredible frosting, super cute shop, & fabulous staff. It is almost an hour drive for me to get there, but so worth it anytime I can work it in to the schedule. They have some incredible flavors that change on a daily basis & seasonals that rotate each month. Ole Miss Mud Pie is my fave. Only thing I could imagine to make them better is if they were closer to home...although that would probably be bad for my waistline. I highly recommend them!

If you want a cupcake, this is the place! They have more than a variety of flavors and they have seasonal flavors too for when you want to try something new. I used this company for my wedding cupcakes. They did a one on one session with me and my husband, brought out samples to get ideas. The day of the wedding they came early and setup everything perfectly. On a wedding day it was nice to not worry and trust that they would do it right and they did just that! We have since used them a handful more for catering our annual family gateherings and they have not dissappointed us. The frosting is the best part in my opinion. They've nailed it there! It's just the perfect amount of sweet with just a little bit of saltiness to it. Each time we use them for our parties the guests always leave happy!

I'll be honest that up until recently I didn't know about how popular cupcake shops were, and always just assumed if you wanted cupcakes, you'd go to Safeway. Boy was I wrong. I saw a Living Social deal for this place, and it was a great deal so I thought i'd try them out, and I'm VERY glad I did. The cupcakes that this place makes are phenomenal, and really make those cheap Safeway cupcakes my family used to buy seem like a huge waste of time. Now, i'm not an expert in describing what makes a good cupcake, but the cupcakes I had here were super moist, and VERY flavorful. I'm a plain Vanilla kind of guy, but they had a huge variety of flavors, even one with bacon on it! I've since tried other cupcake places in the area, and while I won't be rude and give names, I prefer this place much more over the others. The cupcakes are great, the customer service was amazing, and the decor was perfect for that "little cupcake shop on the corner". This place is the real deal, and if you haven't ever been to a cupcake shop, or more importantly if you haven't been to THIS cupcake shop, it's time to drop the Safeway cupcake and take a trip you won't regret!

Such a shame to give so little stars, cuz their cupcakes are pretty damn delicious. What really bothered me with NY cupcakes was the inconsistency in their messaging and their clearly downgraded service for LS customers. I had gotten two LS coupons (one for me and one as a gift). The first time around, I ordered about a week after the LS coupons came out, and very likely before they realized how many LS orders they'd be getting in the very near future. Everything was SO smooth the first time, the cupcakes were packaged in a cute clear container, and the lady at the counter spent time explaining to me to keep the cupcakes at room temp and they would last at LEAST 5 days (which they did, from first hand experience). The second time around...whole different story. When I called in my order, the lady asked if it was a LS order, and I said yes. When I went the store to pick up the goods, the dozen cupcakes were in a plain, crappy, white box. What was even worse was the conversation which ensued. Me: Oh, it's not the clear box? Lady: No, we use a different box for LS orders. Me: Okay, well what's the difference? Lady: Well, they don't last as long with the cardboard box. Are you looking to eat these today or tomorrow? Me: I'm actually saving them for Saturday (two days away) Lady: ...That's gross (HER WORDS NOT MINE) Me: Excuse me? When I came here last time the woman at the counter said they last at least five days Lady: Uh, don't know about that. Me: Would they last longer in the clear containers? Lady: Yes So I ended up purchasing a clear container just so my cupcakes didn't dry out. A little disappointing. I hope they realize that LS customers should receive equal service to regular customers (actually, BETTER, since it's a new pool of potential customers, come on now Business 101). Anyway...that is all.

A little too much. This place went a little too far. The icing on the cupcakes was a little too sweet. There was too much on them. Or maybe I was eating them wrong. Maybe each cupcake needed to be cut into eighths and eaten over a week. While we were ordering, my eyes lit up when I saw they actually sold "Icing shots"! Holy crap! Post cup-cake, I now know I would have went rigor mortis with icing in my veins If I tried even one of those shots! I'd suggest New York Cupcakes exercise minimalism, or next time I just try half of one at most.

I went in about a week ago to try and grab one of their new gluten free cupcakes for my dad's birthday! I went after work so it was definitely a long shot since they were close to closing. When I went in, they were sold out of gluten free cupcakes for the day. However, seeing how disappointed I was, the lady behind the counter offered to take one from the batch they had started for the next day and whip one up for me: I even got to choose the cupcake flavor and frosting flavor! There was no need to help me out and the onus was on me but she went out of their way to help me out anyway. Just another awesome experience with New York Cupcakes!

I passed by this place and was drawn in by my love of cupcakes and impulsiveness for a cheat day. The cupcakes themselves were amazing. They were light and airy, almost under baked but I was ok with that. I had an added surprise while passing the time before placing my order and trying to figure out which cupcakes were which because there were no display signs, they sell dollops of frosting for $1 which I appreciate because I love frosting. Sadly this day I passed, next time, I won't. When I was finally asked what I wanted, with that similar attitude, the lady behind the counter seemed put off by all my questions about what each cupcake was. Her attitude could easily be avoided had she put signs in front of each cupcake stating the flavor. Bottom line: not the best customer service but the cupcake was good. I will be back and just have to deal with the NY attitude-hey it comes in the name right!?

Delicious, moist, beautiful cupcakes. Love the mini ones, too. There is often not a very large selection of flavors, but it could be that I'm there later in they day and they are just popular. They've always been very helpful to me and I happen to adore the pink decor.

Went to use a voucher there that clearly said not valid on Mother's Day and even though it was the day before they would not accept it. After driving for 40 minutes getting there I was not pleased and think this is a scam. Please stop offering vouchers if you don't know how to correctly write the excluded dates on the voucher.

Yummy cupcakes, interesting flavors (eggnog; bacon & French toast; etc.), cute decor and very friendly service. Winning.

I have never had a better cupcake. The buttercream frosting is everything frosting should be! I'm so glad that they aren't any closer to me, or I would weigh 1400 pounds by now.

These are seriously the best cupcakes I have ever had. I am a die hard cake fan, no pies, no candy, just cake, so I am very picky. They are so moist, almost wet, and the frosting is just the perfect sweet, not sugary at all. I had a dozen and gave some to other folks and they agreed, hands down, best cupcake anywhere.

Cupcakes are good - the cake is moist and the frostings aren't too sweet with the exception of the strawberry one. It was super sweet. The cupcake decorations are beautiful. A good place to get cupcakes!

Don't do it! I really wish I had read the Yelp reviews before I bought my Living Social deal. Took me three tries to use my deal, and I finally ended up calling a week in advance to get my order filled (even though it's only supposed to be 48 hours--yeah, right). I happened to be in the area on my first try and went in to use my deal, and even though it was late afternoon and they had a TON of cupcakes left, they wouldn't do it because it wasn't 48 hours in advance. Seriously? I went same-day to Cupcake Royale and they were happy to fulfill my request, especially since it was late afternoon and they were thrilled to get rid of a dozen cupcakes (Cupcake Royale has earned my loyalty now). When I finally was able to get my cupcakes, I had just asked for a variety and didn't even request any specific cupcakes, thinking this would get me into the good graces. Not so much. They still wouldn't package the cupcakes as 2 6-packs so I had to buy the 6-pack containers. In trying to transfer the cupcakes (they wouldn't do this--I had to, although she did give me a glove to help. Surprised I didn't get charged for that), I managed to squish the frosting on several of them and they looked terrible by the time they got into the other container. Then I lost one on the ground and another two toppled over. So much for my gift-giving of cupcakes. Guess I'll be heading to Cupcake Royale for cupcakes for my co-workers. Oh yeah, and I always love a business that charges you a surcharge for using your credit card for an amount under $5.00. Suck it up--it's called the cost of doing business. The cupcakes themselves are fine. They have a very light, airy frosting which I don't personally like, but if you like that kind I'm sure it's great (I prefer a more creamy frosting). Nothing to write home about, so they REALLY don't make up for the LOUSY customer service.

I ordered 4 dozen mini cupcakes for my daughter's birthday and I was super impressed! The cupcakes were so beautiful and all 6 different flavors were delicious. Ordering & pick up were super easy, I will definitely use them again.

Today was the day. I was finally going to New York Cupcakes. My fiance has refused my needs for too long-- it was time to take action. I jumped in my car, made the trek to NYC and basked in its glorious pinkness.... Then I woke up. The person helping me was very friendly. The other lady? Not so much. She ignored me. I'm not going to lie, but in a cupcake place that costs 2.50 a cupcake id like you to smile at me at least. Nope. At least the girl at the counter was nice. Plus, I wasn't here for the service I was here for the little bundles of sugary joy! I got the salted caramel cupcake and the red velvet. I got in my car. Pulled out my phone camera and started snapping away at my treasures. Then I took a bite. Yikes! The frosting makes the cupcake and it was overwhelming! It gave me that sugar tingle I don't like. Euw. I will let you draw your own conclusions but let me say as a person who lived in Manhattan and ate many glorious cupcakes and as a sprinkles cupcake addict this place was NOT my top choice. Ill save my calories. ****** Okay, I will update my review. I just had another cupcake. While not as overwhelming as the first time, I've decided it was not so bad. Maybe these cupcakes have potential. (Or maybe I'm just hungry). Whichever it is, New York Cupcakes, you receive one more star for your cupcakes! I am going to hold back 2 because I'm still a bit upset that I was ignored and treated like I didn't matter by the owner -- except the counter girl was very nice :)

My husband and I feel, like we're pretty discriminating when it comes to baked goods, and we've tried pretty much every cupcake place in the greater Seattle area: Trophy (dry cake, ok frosting)' Cupcake Royale (dry frosting, dry cake), Pinkabella (ok), and Yellow Leaf (ok). NYCC is the best of the best...the owner recognizes her regular customers. They bake fresh every day--there's no refrigeration of any kind. The favors vary daily. For those who have complained about the frosting being "too sweet", maybe you're looking for some nice date-juice sweetener. I have never been disappointed in a cupcake they've had, over the past five years of patronizing them. For those complaining about not getting their way with regard to their Living Social deal: apply your reading skills. 48 hours notice for orders--this means you get the same quality of cupcake the regular customers get. Fresh-baked, unrefrigerated, not from a box or mix. This was posted on the Living Social, on the store's website, and on the store window. This is a small, local business--treat the employees with the respect and courtesy.

I've tried going back here a few times, each time thinking the last must have just been a bad cupcake. The cupcakes are not impressive at all - just kind of blah. I'm a chocolate addict, and have been disappointed with the weak chocolate frosting every time. There are two other cupcake shops in Bellevue that will wow you with their chocolate - Trophy and Cupcake Royale.

Delicious, moist cupcakes and light, creamy frosting! I am big fan! Best cupcakes in the Seattle area in my opinion. I prefer their lighter, swiss meringue buttercream to the dense crusting buttercream that other cupcakeries use (Cupcake Royal). All the cupcakes I've tried have been moist and tender, never a dense of crumbly one! They always have a great selection of flavors, I just wish they were open later. I get cupcake cravings at 7 or 8 and they close at 6.

I've been here a couple times to get cupcakes for birthdays. I ordered in advance so it was no problem coming in & picking them up. The cupcakes that they do have available daily aren't too bad. Quite the selection. I don't have a favorite cupcake since they are all absolutely YUMMY! This is the cutest cupcake place I have ever seen! Pink decor & absolutely cutesy trinkets made me want to live there, [= If I were to decorate a cupcake shop I would've done the same thing!

Used my Amazon Local voucher for a dozen cupcakes for my daughter's bday party. Called 3 days in advance and the gal who took my order was pleasant and helpful. Went to pick them up and they were ready, beautiful, and in a clear plastic cupcake carrier. This is the 3rd time over the past 1-2 years I've used a Groupon-type deal here and I've never had an issue. The service has always been pleasant, and my family has always enjoyed the cupcakes.

I've tried over and over to ignore the negative reviews because their cupcakes are ok but I can't! Their customer service is horrible! I come all the way from kent to get cupcakes and usually only make the drive for my living social deal, today was to get some for my friend for her birthday. Spent $50 dollars to receives horrible service yet again! You think they would be happy with someone spending $50 but instead you get treated like you are wasting their time!

I wish we could rate customer service separate from food. We saw the Amazon local coupon for this and thought we would try it- read the reviews and it seemed ok- I purchased one and my Mom purchased one. We were going to use them together-it Did not say call ahead to let them know- however, I called the night before and let them know we would be in the next day. Since it was 24 cupcakes we were going to purchase- but not a special order. The woman I spoke to on the phone was sweet, very kind and thanked me for calling in. Must be daughter of owner since she said "Mom" we have these 2 coming in tomorrow. When we arrived- this place is decorated so cute! displays looked great, cupcakes look yummy- very cute way to decorate a cute cupcake shop. there was an older woman- I believe the owner - that greeted us. She advised we could have 2 of each cupcake choice per Amazon Local coupon- which was fine:) so that meant 2 per coupon- so 4 of each cupcake since we had 2. She kept making comments when I chose 4 of each- "you are taking all of our stock", " please call in and let us know next time" - I told her I apologize I did not know I had to and as a courtesy , last night I had called to let them know I would be in this afternoon--she rolled her eyes. I kept on ordering- we did not clean them out- they had plenty of stock. What if I would have walked in right before my Mom and we both showed our coupons - would she have been just as rude? My Mom and our friend could not believe what she was saying- if you know you have Amazon deals out there- print on coupon- must call in order in advance? The cupcakes were a huge hit! Very moist- i prefer whipped cream frosting- these would be amazing if they had whip cream frosting:) I think they gained more customers from the party that we brought them to- BUT-I am not sure they will keep them if she stays up front. They should keep her in the back and the nice one up front or they will continue to lose business.

Let me say this I do not have a sweet tooth, so when I buy cupcakes it is for my little girls whom love a good cupcake. I walked in and was so in love with the smell of this cute little shop. I ordered both coconut one vanilla and one chocolate. The frosting was beautiful with fairy like iridescent sparkles bouncing off the Tiffany blue and white frosting. The best part was the moist cake itself. I love how they put coconut in the batter. I loved the texture. YES I did make them share with me. I did not think it was too sweet. Thought it was delicious! I would pay $3 for their cupcakes anyday.

I love cupcakes. I'm not really a cake person but for some reason cupcakes I would eat. Maybe because they're small and so pretty when decorated. :) Went to New York Cupcakes this past week and from what I remember when they were located in Bell Square they were yummier... I got their vanilla bean cupcake and it was okay. It was good because the cake was moist but their frosting was too buttery. I felt like my throat was covered in lard..::blah:: I prefer Trophys Cupcakes WAY more. They have a "happy hour" where you can buy their frosting in a plastic cup for $1... I couldn't imagine someone actually buying them.. UNLESS you're in a binge for just plain frosting! Also, I got in trouble when taking a pic in the store with my phone. I was scolded by the lady saying how someone can steal and copyright their ideas.. Lady, if I wanted to steal your cupcake ideas I would buy the cupcakes, eat them, and then make them myself. PSH! She even wanted to know where I worked just to make sure I wasn't a competitor. ::weirdo::

Very unimpressed. I purchased a livingsocial certificate to give this shop a try. I went in today to redeem it and read their clearly worded sign that they required 48 hours notice. "No problem," I thought to myself, "I will call when I get home. The certificate doesn't expire until Tuesday. That is 48 hours." I called, got voicemail and left my order. They just called me back and refused to honor my deal because they are filled up until Feb. 4. When I asked if they could fill my order on another day, when they DID have availability, since O followed the terms of my certificate, they said no, but that I could redeem the certificate for the price paid. Ummm, yeah, that is Washington state law!! Yes, I followed all of their fine print requirements, placed my order 48 hours in advance, and they still won't honor their own terms. I am VERY unimpressed by their lack of integrity and customer service. I do not recommend giving your money to a shop that conducts business like this.

WORST customer service ever!!!! Ive called several times trying to redeem my living social voucher and was told each time that they cannot fulfill my request on all the days that I've requested for. Last week, I was told that I can use my voucher until January 31st, now that I am trying to order; I am once again told that it is too late to order since I should have ordered yesterday!! I am so frustrated with this shop! They do not have any customer service what so ever! They are rude and could care less about their customers! I will definitely tell everyone I know not to support this company!!!

Much better variety available this time! All of the Chocolate cakes are still the same, but the Salted Caramel frosting is a much deeper flavor than CR and the Cookies and Cream frosting is delightful. The Lemonade with Raspberry frosting was VERY sweet... but the frosting overshadowed the cake by a mile. The Radio City Raspberry had a slightly different frosting (or it was the chocolate curls?) but it also ran over the chocolate cake. The vanilla frosting on the Vanilla Bean Dream was remarkably different than other vanillas in the area. Day old cupcakes were also available at a reduced rate this visit.

Attempted to place an order for Living social, MAJOR FAIL! They don't have anything available even if you try to place the order 48 hrs prior. I will keep this in mind to place an order 2 weeks in advance. Let's see how they will turn me down. SHAKE MY DAMN HEAD!

I recently ordered 5doz mini cupcakes for a company event. I needed them delivered to a venue in the heart of Bellevue during the worst of rush hour. Not only were they delivered on time, the delivery lady called me both beforehand, to say she was going to be a bit early but then she called me after she dropped them off to let me know the delivery went fine and where she'd left them. WONDERFUL customer service. I had never eaten their cupcakes before this event and I was hesitant to order something for an important company event without ever having tried it myself. I should not have worried, the cupcakes were a hit, and everyone raved about how good they tasted and how pretty they were. With the 5doz I had ordered a special large cupcake for the CEO's wife's birthday, she was thrilled with both the decorations and raved about the taste, saying she would use New York Cupcakes for her next party. All said and done I was VERY pleased with my experience. Not only will I use them again for our next event, their cupcakes are so good they are worth breaking my diet for and I will do just that anytime I'm in the area.

I have actually worked at other cupcake stores, and love cupcakes more than anything! I try them everywhere I go, and seek out cupcake shops around the country... That being said, NY cupcakes is my absolute favorite. I had the Mixed Berries & Cream... it will be my wedding cake someday, it was that delicious. White cake with white chocolate filling, berry buttercream and white chocolate flakes on top. Best cupcake I've ever eaten in my life. Their other flavors are wonderful too, I've never tried one I didn't like. Some are so big and rich that I have to eat half and save the other half for later, but I'm definitely not complaining. As for the customer service, I have not had an issue with that at all. In fact, one day I came in and couldn't decide between getting my old time favorite, my mother's favorite, or a new flavor that they had for that day. The lady behind the counter convinced me to try the new one, so I went for it. She promised to replace the cupcake I had ordered with my favorite if I didn't like it. Halfway through the delicious new flavor, she brought my me a mini version of my mom's favorite cupcake to take to my mom. Then, as I finished my cupcake, she said that she was so happy I had tried the new flavor but that she wanted me to have my favorite too, and boxed one up for me to take home, on the house. An adorable store in a good location, friendly staff & consistently delicious cupcakes makes for 5 stars in my book! I'm a loyal customer and fully plan on staying that way!!!

The cupcakes are not as good as Trophy's and when I picked them up (I had ordered in advance) the cupcakes seemed a little stale. I was not entirely sure how old they were. One thing I really did not like was their service. The lady who we talked to seemed to be in a really bad mood and was quite rude when I asked to confirm the type of cupcakes we had ordered. She also complained about the fact that she couldn't find the name on my order even though this had nothing to do with me. Overall, poor customer service and cupcakes which are not worth their price.

We went in today to use the $16 that the living social coupon was worth. We looked in the case and at the price board. The board said 6-pack, $18. I noticed that above the case were some separate cupcakes that had a separate price than the ones in the case, where no price was listed. When the older gal behind the counter asked to help us, I asked if there were only certain favors which could be included in the 6-pack since I noticed some had a higher price. She acted annoyed with me and said, well they all have different prices. I said, well, you have a 6-pack listed for $18 so I was just wondering which ones were included in that. She huffed and said, "we'll, you have to tell me what you want, then I will tell you the prices." Sigh. I saw I was going to get nowhere so we just went ahead and picked 6. One flavor was .25 more than the $3 ones, which seems just like nickel and diming people. Why advertise a pack price if you don't honor it or employ people who can properly direct you to what can be included for that price? I totally understand that some might be more specialized, but how about answering questions professionally and in a friendly manner? When we got to the cash register, the gal had already quickly said to the gal filling our box, "a six pack?" And entered it into the register. As I stepped over she gave me the total. I said, great, "I have this living social I never made it here to use in time." She immediately sighed and said "oh." She told me that "next time, tell me you have that before I ring it up because I can't enter it." Ok seriously!!??!! AS IF there was time to warn you of my second class customer status due to my LS coupon, AS IF I will be back, AS IF you need to make me feel bad. I was buying your damn product! When we got home, I tried the red velvet. It was good, nothing mind blowing. Liked that the frosting was light compared to come heavier ones usually on red velvet. Overall, the quality was good, but nothing I'd ever give them business again for. I really hope that the owner can drop her defensive attitude, take a look at the constructive feedback many people have given and make some changes to her business.

I had a timesquare. As you can see, the name is very vague and I had to ask the store clerk what it really was besides beaing a beautiful cupcake. I also asked her which ones are filled cupcake and which ones weren't. The old woman was very impatient and almost condescending. The cupcake turned out to be pretty decent, but I will not go back again.

Same thing as everybody else who complained. I stopped going there a long time ago. The cupcakes are good but not as good as some other places. I believe the older lady, the one who is always so rude and forgot to learn how to smile, is actually is the mother (from what she told me the 1st time I went there). So I don't know Lisa, all I can say is that I'm so glad there is Cupcake Royal in town, I don't have to go to NY cupcakes any longer and they are way better !!!! I still don't know how they are still in business. Maybe people don't care of customer service. Lady, smile : life is short !!!

It's pretty hard to lose me as a customer. I am usually quite forgiving and realize that everyone has their bad days and things can go wrong that are not the fault of the person I'm dealing with. I'm often willing to give a company a chance to rectify the issue at hand and in most instances, they come through. That certainly wasn't the case with New York Cupcakes. My wife and I have been visiting their business since 2007 when we first moved to Bellevue. It was the place to drop by after having lunch or dinner in the area since their cupcakes were delectable desserts. One evening, we got there after having navigated through corridors of slow moving cars during a torrential rain storm. We breathed a sigh of relief that we had parked and made it just before closing time (7pm). But we stepped up to their door only to find it locked early. The two female staff members inside just looked at us and one of them mouthed the words, "We're closed." They then went back to talking to each other and began clearing away the leftover cupcakes into plastic cartons for sale. We made a plea to request purchasing one and were met with the answer, "Sorry, we closed at 7." My wife and I realized then how little they valued customer service. Way to go New York Cupcakes! That's how you lose a long-time customer for life!

Frosting is strange and divisive thing. I'm picky about frosting and this is my favorite cupcake in Seattle because of the frosting! I stumbled upon New York Cupcakes in the Crossroads location about 5 years ago. I've been hooked ever since. The cake is always nice and moist and delicious and the frosting is my very favorite. I love the buttercream and for my tastes, I find it so much more delicious than Cupcake Royale or Trophy. I recommend the Pure Bliss if she has them. Also, don't be afraid to grab a 6 pack of the day olds! They are simply delicious 2, even 3 days (4 days with milk) later and are a fabulous bargain! One of my favorite things about New York Cupcakes is Lisa. Over the years she has saved by bacon and bent over backwards to provide good service. In particular we had a birthday cake crisis a few months ago and I ordered 4 dozen cupcakes at the last minute. And by last minute, I mean 2 days before the party. Lisa and her staff came through like champs. Love the cupcakes, love the ladies, give this place a try!

Why go anywhere else for a cupcake?? You will NEVER be disappointed here at New York Cupcakes!! I've been a valued customer since the day it opened, and I've never been disappointed. I've tried almost EVERY flavor of their FRESHL:Y BAKED Cupcakes and All are DELICIOUS!! You need a special order?? They will take care of you---and the owner, Lisa, will make sure of that! I've had many events where I would contact the bakery and without any hesitation, NY Cupcake came through! Don't hesitate to take a peek in her shop or on Facebook to see Lisa & her staff's amazing creations when holidays come around! If you are a TRUE 12th Fan, NY Cupcake did an ABSOLUTE AWESOME JOB during the season & SUPERBOWL! The designs and flavors were true winners!! I'm not sure what you all are fussing about with your GROUPONS & LIVING SOCIAL issues! READ THE FINE LINES!!! This isn't HOSTESS where they make hundreds and thousands of cupcakes every hour of everyday----These are Fresh, Delicious Handfuls of YUMMY that are baked & decorated with CLASS!!! With that being said....Now I want a Cupcake...or two or three! LOL

I have visited New York Cupcakes twice now. The first time I sampled a mini red velvet and a full size Boston Cream. The red velvet was moist, but the frosting was unimpressive. The boston cream was delicious, except for the frosting as well. The second time I visited I received a lemon cupcake. Lemon is very important to me and if you can't do it right, I don't want to try any of your other cupcakes. This frosting was very good! New York has so many different flavors and I want to try them all, so I will be back.

The only thing worse than the quality of the cupcakes and the terrible service is the way Lisa responds to complaints on Yelp. In my line of business, we're trained first to acknowledge complaints. The next thing to do is to apologize. The last step is to make things right, by whatever means you see fit. She seems to be alright at the first two steps, but the last is lacking. Every response Lisa leaves to complaints about her business is on the defense - she won't admit fault even when droves of customers echo the same sentiment (the service is lacking, the employees are inconsiderate and rude). She essentially calls her customers "wrong". WRONG?!! Seriously, it's a concept known as "guest perception" - whether or not she failed to honor Groupons or ignored a customer with less money or whatever the case, she must be high on frosting to think that telling a customer they're wrong and insisting she did everything right is the best mode of action. Being told you're wrong makes you not wanna come back - and moreover, it makes you wanna tell 10 of your friends not to go there, either. Guest perceptions are REAL - it's not up to the business owner to correct the guest by calling them "dishonest" - and it only comes off as arrogant and rude when Lisa tries to argue with customers on Yelp. Don't dig your own sugary grave, Lisa. There are clearly customers on here who like your products - cultivate those likes by responding to them, not just the negative reviews. Admit fault to your customers, make an effort to fix things instead of arguing with them, and see what happens - you might just regain loyalty from the ones who swore they'd never return. :)

I had a cupcake here once, and the store was beautiful! The pink walls and the colorful cupcakes were very playful. BUT, the cupcakes are not as good as they look. The cake part isn't that bad, it tastes like something you could make at home in your oven. Nothing too special. So I expected the frosting to be the determiner. Unfortunately, the frosting overwhelms most of the cupcake, and it's way too sweet. The sweetness almost makes it nauseating to eat. I recommend a tall glass of milk or water to go with your cupcake if you decide to come here. I prefer Trophy Cupcakes and Cupcake Royale, personally.

Their service has been really crappy and their cupcakes are okay but not enough to make me want to go back coz of their lack of care for their customers. Once was okay, but twice is not. I think it's the manager, but it's a short old lady that has this attitude that I would say should not be selling something as cute and fun as cupcakes. Sometimes a little bit of service can mean alot. She wouldn't give me 2 stamps for buying 12 cupcakes, just because they weren't in two separate 6 pack containers (you get one stamp per 6 pack container). And on a separate occasion, she wouldn't provide me with a container to separate the cupcakes in, when all I wanted to do was to retain the moist flavor for a co-worker that lived in the other building that I had to save the cupcakes for. And she adds this comment, "those things are expensive you know..." Yes, she's talking about the plastic container. Anyway, I'm not going back there because of "her". Trophy and Cupcake Royale are far better both in taste and service and they actually put a smile on your face rather than take it away like NY Cupcakes does. It may be just this one lady but it's enough for me to paint an image on the entire store. I know many people may not care about an image of a store or staff service as long as the food is good. But for a store that sells cupcakes, I can't accept this store as "my" cupcake store. No fun. Hopefully, their downtown Seattle branch has better people.

Rude, really really rude. We have been customers at NY cupcakes for 7 years. Always felt customer service was bad but cupcakes are good so we put up with it for 7 years. We were not born here but are US citizens for 15 years and bellevue residents for 20. Last visit with our 2 kids, we said that's it, we're never coming back. The lady who seemed to be the owner threw her eyes to heaven when our kids took a little time deciding which cupcake. When I went to pay for 4 full price cupcakes, no interaction, no please, no thank you....nothing. And we were the only customers in the store. I felt we were a burden on his woman, customers in HER store. NEVER will we enter her door again and we're at crossroads at least 3 times a week and as I said bellevue residents for 20 years.

I've been here several times over the last 2 years, and I'll admit that I wasn't the most impressed in the beginning. I can now say that my opinion has totally changed for the better. I revisited this place earlier this month, and I was totally enamored with the delicious buttercream frosting and the wonderfully moist cake. My biggest gripe with most subpar cupcakes is usually that the cake in the cupcake is too dry. Who wants to pay for premium cupcakes at $3 a pop and bite into crumbly cake trying to mimic sugared sawdust. Thankfully, New York Cupcakes knows what they're doing. I ordered the red velvet, coffee, strawberry, lemon, and chocolate. Every single one was a rush of delectable sweet heavenly manna. If I weren't paranoid of rapidly becoming a diabetic, I'd visit this place every day. Hands down better than Cupcake Royale, and I'd be hard pressed to choose between New York Cupcakes or Trophy.

I visited New York Cupcakes a few weeks ago to do a tasting for my wedding. After my mom stumbled across their website we decided to consider it for my wedding. The website does a great job of describing all the different varieties, too bad once you actually taste these cupcakes you realize there is NO flavor. I could have had a blindfold on and I would have guessed I was eating the same thing whether it was the red velvet or the salted caramel. My suggest to the ladies at New York Cupcake is to stop playing it so safe with flavor and start packing a punch. Maybe rework the cream cheese frosting as it may taste like cream cheese, the consistence looks like snot. Just because cupcakes are big right now, doesn't mean that everyone should be selling them!

Mmm i think New York Cupcakes is 10 times better than Trophy Cupcakes.. I shared the Red Velvet and the Smores cupcake with my sister. The cake is so so moist and frosting just melts in your mouth! i am usually the type of person who smears off most of the frosting (i am not really into frosting).. but these cupcakes were an EXCEPTION! i cant stop thinking about these cupcakes night and day haha! okay, so if you guys think Trophy Cupcakes is good, then you will find this place 10 times BETTER! (: i want to go back and buy the whole case of cupcakes

Amazing cupcakes! We were in town for the day and had a sweet craving. Luckily we had heard some good things about NY Cupcakes and decided to try it out. Their cupcakes were amazing! The red velvet is definitely a must have as is the salted caramel! As an added bonus, it was nice to enjoy a good cupcake without the crazy Los Angeles prices we pay for a similar cupcake at home.

Dude. DUDE!! This place is outrageously delicious. As a fat guy, i've found my way around more than my fair share of cupcakes. Most high-end cupcake shops tend to have fun, elaborate cupcake flavors. However, they tend to focus on just the frosting, offering above-average cake, but it brings the whole experience down as it takes away from the delicious frosting. Now, I DARE you to try even the most simple of cupcakes from NY Cupcakes. I cannot be more serious here, this is leaps and bounds above any other cupcake I have ever put past these lips. Even the cake itself would be a treat. Top that with 12-20 different flavor varieties each day and you've found yourself a new addiction. Check out their website ( newyorkcupcakes.com ), check out the menu and GO THERE! They have a spot in Bellevue in the Crossings and a newer one in the Madison area.

I really like NY Cupcakes. Definitely my favorite in the area (that don't come from my own kitchen, obviously!). The cake is always perfectly moist, and the frosting is decadent and sinful as it should be. LOVE the red velvet, but some of the specials I've tried over the past few years have also been absolutely heavenly. High marks for this place all around! Adorable space, great product, fair prices, and kind staff.

BEWARE --The people that work here have no customer service skills whatsoever and I will NEVER step foot in this store again. Whatever you do, DO NOT buy a Living Social coupon for this place. I get cupcakes from this shop all the time - mostly for work events. I think they are about the same as Trophy, but closer to the office so I've deferred to NY Cupcakes the past couple of years. When I saw the Living Social deal I bought one. My kids birthday party is this weekend so I decided to redeem my voucher. I read the the fine print - you must order 48 ours in advance (OK- no problem). I called the store in the middle of the day on Wednesday, nobody picked. The recording said to leave a message and someone would call back. They didn't call back that day so I called back this morning (Thursday). I was told first that I could order some flavors but not all because I was calling less than 48 hours in advance. I explained that I left a message yesterday (48 hours in advance) and they never called me back. The woman agreed to take my order. Then when I told her that I would be paying with a Living Social voucher she did an about face and said that she could not take my order since I didn't call 48 hours in advance (What?!?!). I explained again that this was their fault (and frankly their crappy customer service) for not calling back but she refused. I then asked to speak with a manager who again said it was my fault for not calling 48-hours in advance. I told her that I did call 48-hours in advance and asked her to check the answering machine -- she refused. I've filed a complaint with Living Social, received a refund for my voucher, and now get to go home and start baking for the birthday party. I am so done with this place and their crappy service. Vent complete - time to move on.

This place is AMAZING!! Best cupcakes in the Pacific Northwest! Huge selection, affordably priced, and a great helpful staff including the owner Lisa. Go here 1st for cupcakes for any occasion. I just used them for a bday party and a soccer treat for the team.

I had a chocolate chip cupcake here, and it was super yummy- one of the best cupcakes I've had! The frosting was really sweet with a slightly gritty sugary texture (which I loved), and the cake was moist and yummy. I also grabbed a "frosting shot", which is a cheap and dangerous temptation- the chocolate frosting was sooo good though. I didn't realize the place was closed when I came by, but they were super nice and let me sneak in anyway- thanks!! I'll be back for more very soon!

The cupcakes are good, but the customer service is horrible. I was the only customer in the store, but was not acknowledged. She was irritated to take my order, as if she had something better to do. I really hope she wasn't the owner.

Here are some observations from visit there yesterday: Decor: + This place is very small. Don't expect to sit and enjoy your cupcake. Your best bet is 'to-go' your cupcake(s). + This place is completely pink, including a pink fridge. Someone called it Pepto Bismol. I completely agree. If you're a 'girly' girl who loves pink, this place might look like heaven to you. If you're not all about pink or if you're older than 14, the decor might overwhelm you. Service: + The lady I met wasn't leaping out of the way to help. Very cool. The pink apparently didn't rub off in her attitude, so don't be lulled into a false sense of warmth. Pricing: + $2.50 for a mini cupcake is expensive. + Buying in bulk might 'ease' that price. I paid $36 for 24 mini cupcakes with edible cake toppers. Still expensive. Especially since none stops with eating one mini. Usually people eat 2 - 4 of those. Cupcake quality: + I tried the strawberry, vanilla, salted caramel, cookie dough and red velvet. + I found the cake very moist, soft, and delicious. + The topping was not very well flavored. They could certainly use more natural products and use them more liberally. I wouldn't be able to tell the flavors apart in a blind test. Overall, I might go back there, I dont have strong opinions either way. A question for reviewers: This may not be a comment specific to this store, but almost all the cupcake stores I've been to heap on the frosting. What's with the frosting mania? I'm yet to find a store that flavors their cake better with interesting flavors other than chocolate. Perhaps lemon, orange, lavender, strawberry. And then reduce the amount of frosting on top because the whole system is well flavored. If anyone reading this knows of such a place, please share!

My husband got these for my birthday a few weeks ago and never again will I allow him to waste our money there. These cupcakes are really just glorified grocery store cupcakes with a few drops of different extracts added in. The icing tasted like chemicals and was really inedible. In short, these don't taste "real". They taste like a mix. If you're a fan of box cake, then I guess these are ok for you, but if you are used to real, homemade cakes and real flavors and real everything, this will not live up to your expectations- at all.

Great experience all around! I anticipated bad service, because of numerous negative reviews from Living social coupon holders, but it was smooth! Easy to place order on-line, good selection, pretty clear box and wonderful, delicious cupcakes, that were waiting for me on time! Lives nothing more to desire! I will be back, hungry for more!

One very nice woman behind the counter was cancelled out by one very RUDE woman behind the counter who seemed to have higher authority than the nice woman. I came on Yelp to see if others had a bad experience or if it was just me and see that there's a pattern. They treated a Living Social customer who was in the store w/ me like a second-class citizen which in turn made me feel uncomfortable. Quit advertising on Living Social if you can't handle the volume. Duh! They make make money in the short-term, but have lost alot of customers and referrals in the long run. I will definitely tell my friends to go somewhere else.

Valentine's Day is like your free day to pamper yourself with sweets. And a cupcake is about as good as it gets. New York Cupcakes is my second visit to a cupcakery. It is at Crossroads Mall near Blockbuster Video rather than in the main building FYI. The interior of the store is the absolute opposite in decor when I think of New York. Using Alicia Keys's description of New York in Empire State of Mind Part 2 as reference, NY Cupcakes is not in a concrete jungle, nor is it on a mean street. This is Bellevue. Crossroads is a melting pot though. The interior is more like picture book nursery rhyme fairytale dream. A name like Alice in Cupcakeland would be fitting. That aside, there are a dozen cupcake flavors to choose from daily, though the variation comes from the frosting used as opposed to the actual cake which is pretty much white cake, chocolate or red velvet. Each cupcake is $2.75 each, with discounts for larger purchases so it is kind of pricey. I got two cupcakes. The New York Black & White which is the signature item consists of half white and half chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream. The cake was not as moist as I would like and the sweetness was a little too much. I liked about as much as a QFC cupcake which is not a good thing given the added cost. The royal red velvet with buttercream frosting was much better. The cupcake was moist and the frosting did not overwhelm the senses. I think this is a good bet when choosing from the selection. Overall, I am calling my visit here a mixed bag. The cupcakes were decent, but pricey. From a male's point of view, the interior is a little intimidating. It is so not gender neutral like Cupcake Royale. Let's just say it makes me feel like dressing like the Mad Hatter.

Pros: the cupcakes are delicious. I'm not going to lie, the cupcakes are great. Why on earth am I giving this place 1 star when I am flat out saying the cupcakes truly are magically delicious? BECAUSE THE SERVICE SUCKS! I have come in here over a dozen times and over a dozen times I have walked out feeling abused by the staff. Twice, I was waiting in line and when a better dressed (i.e., wearing super expensive name brands and flashy jewelry) walked in they waited on the flashy woman before me. I don't dress fancy but my money is just as green as theirs! I always feel like I'm bothering them by asking for cupcakes. My least favorite part? The tip jar. It's tacky, it needs to go. It looks pathetic. You are putting cupcakes in a box for me, not making me a special coffee drink or running back and forth bringing me food. As much as I love the taste of their cupcakes, I won't return to this place again just because I am done dealing with their difficult staff and looking at the sad (usually with good reason) empty tip jar. Maybe if they ever hire good, friendly workers and lose the tip jar I'll return.

Yum! I love me some cupcakes! I've tried Trophy, Cupcake Royale, Pinkabella, Cake Envy and New York Cupcakes. I've devoted much time to this research. I'm devoted. And I think New York is my overall favorite. The cake is moist, not too sweet or fake tasting (either like preservative filled boxed mix or like faux-flavours like fruit that tastes pink). The frosting is perfectly sweet, very creamy, not too dense and buttery. I admit that I'm a cupcake purist and stick mostly with vanilla, chocolate and combos of the two, branching out occasionally for peppermint. I love the combos at New York - so many yummy variations on the basic flavors AND crazy combos. I've yet to try a dud. And the decor of the cupcakes...oh my. All of them are adorable, but their seasonal cupcakes are just fantastic. I have a crazy obsession with the little ghosts at Halloween. The service isn't very memorable (which is too bad - as some one else said, if you're working in a cheerful little cupcake store, it's only right that you're perky) but it's also never been bad. Darnit. Now I want cupcakes!

The cupcakes are good, but the service is terrible! Have tried both ordering over the phone and in the store. They need to improve their customer service, not helpful at all. Over the phone, rather than answer a couple of questions I had, they referred me to their web site (after telling me it was too late to place an order). There are many other places that have a good product and good customer service, I wouldn't waste the time or $$ on this business.....

I ordered 3 dozen miniature cupcakes from NYCupcakes as a bribe for my classmates [actually, so they'd be distracted and not notice how I am destroying the Japanese language in a skit] -- I ordered them a week in advance, and when I went in to pick them up on Tuesday afternoon, they were there all cute in their boxes waiting for me right on time. We went with two "normal" flavours -- red velvet and vanilla bean -- and my personal favourite, salted caramel. Only qualm I had was that the red velvet batter doesn't rise as much as vanilla or chocolate does so the red velvets were short, and as soon as I walked outside they started sliding around because the cardboard holder was too tall for them. Oh well, I told my classmates to feel free to use their fingers to pick up the delicious cream cheesy goop. Perhaps it's because they were made to order, but in spite of the fact they came in cardboard containers the cake remains moist even today, almost three full days after they were baked. The leftovers from after they were distributed to my class were destroyed due to the Seattle Heatwave but I was still able to dip the cake in the little puddles of frosting and enjoy them. Solidly 4 stars, and I appreciate that they offer the minis for just $1 a cake.

Oh man, these are some good cupcakes! Great flavors & always moist & yummy. We actually did a taste test of four different stores' cupcakes & New York Cupcake was the winner. Customer service is weak though - they don't look you in the eye & don't smile much.

I am a cupcake snob, a connoisseur if ever there was one.......i have tried soooo many cupcakes in my life and been to many, many cupcakeries all over the country. I LOVE these cupcakes! They are cute, flavorful, well balanced, and the frosting isn't too sweet. The shop is in a strip mall, which i do not think suits it. It is so adorable, so cute, it belongs in some pioneer square type of location. An old, charming, & interesting location. Lisa, the owner is not only one of the nicest people in the cupcake game, but is smart, sassy, and adorable in her own right. I do not live in Seattle anymore, but when my Seattle friends have birthdays, NY cupcakes is where i send them cupcakes from!

This place sure has come a long way since its life at Bellevue Square. I guess the place has a new owner and she moved it out of the mall and into Crossroads. I cannot believe how different the quality of the cupcakes are now. They are probably one of the moistest cupcakes I've ever had. I had the salted caramel and a mini red velvet. The salted caramel was delicious. The frosting was creamy and not overly sweet but it was a bit soft. The red velvet was good but it didn't have a cream cheese frosting. How do you have a red velvet cake with no cream cheese frosting??? Looking at the website, there are several flavors that I would like to try. Can't wait to go back.

This little cupcake shop is adorable! Everything is pink and of course, cupcake related. Even their 50's style fridge is pink! (I'm not a huge fan of the color pink, but I enjoyed the atmosphere.) They have a nice variety of cupcakes to choose from. (S'more, Boston Cream Pie, Red Velvet, Raspberry, Chocolate, Vanilla Bean, etc.) I LOVE chocolate, but I stepped out of my box/comfort zone and chose the strawberry cupcake. Delicious! I got the one cupcake and milk special for $3.50. They accept credit/debit cards but purchases need to be at least $5.00 I've never been big on a lot of icing or frosting on cakes, but the toppings on these little cupcakes are well worth it! PS My cat's name is Cupcake and I was excited they had a book on sale that was titled "If You Give a Cat a Cupcake." =)

TOO MUCH BUTTER. But otherwise very fun with cute decor. I'm trying to get caught up in the cupcake fun, but we've all baked a few goods in our own time, before. Just add extra butter, stretch out the oven time, and place it in the middle of a pink dollhouse. You get New York Cupcakes, but I'm still not sure where the NY part of the theme fits. Maybe the search for the perfect salted-caramel cupcake will keep running...

I am a local wedding planner. One of my bride's had ordered her cupcakes from the lovely ladies at New York Cupcakes. From the moment I meant them they were nothing but nice and professional. Even when we had to make them wait a little bit for a new table, and changed the plans up, they were still pleasant and great. We kept getting compliments all night about how beautiful the cupcakes were. Thank you so much, highly recommended!!!

I stopped in the other day when I had a little time to burn and was in the mood for a sweet treat. I ended up buying their signature cake, a NY Black and White being half white and half chocolate cake with vanilla and chocolate frosting. I was kind of taken a back because I thought the cake itself tasted like it was from a box. No shade to box cakes at all, we all use them at some point and they can be quite tasty. However, when you are at a store front that is specializing in cupcakes and is charging you $3 for one little cake one would hope they would have some richness that comes from being home made. Obviously I have no idea whether they use their own mixes or not, but for their chocolate and vanilla it tasted like something you could make at home. Maybe some success would come from "specialty" flavors? In any case, the customer service was alright. The space was a little too princess for my liking but I'm sure if you had a little boy or girl who is into pink they would love the interior. They had two tables on the inside but it looked like one was being used by the owner/worker, so I opted for the little tables outside. It seems like a nice little shop and I may stop in again if I'm ever over in that area.

I wish I could give this place less than one star. IF YOU ARE BUYING A LIVING SOCIAL OR THINKING OF PLACING A LARGE ORDER WITH THIS MESS OF A PLACE, STAY AWAY. The experience is horrid. Terrible customer experience. This place is making LivingSocial look bad. Take your money and go buy cupcakes at Trophy or Pinkabella. You'll be far happier and the cupcakes are tastier and larger (we actually measured them). I love cupcakes. I have organized baby showers and other parties for which I get dozens of cupcakes. I have many to plan this year. I haven't experienced the level of poor service from any of the places around here as I have in New York cupcakes. That left me with such poor taste that I will never come back and will tell all my friends to avoid. I purchased cupcakes at here for two years - PBJ were my husband's favorite. Several times we would try to buy cupcakes in the store, the sales people were inattentive and borderline rude. But I let it be and just enjoyed the cupcakes. Then I had the folly to purchase some living social coupons for NY cupcakes that I was planning to use in January for a shower. I got two coupons. I read the fine print which clearly stated that the coupon was expiring late January and the order had to be placed _48 hours before pickup_. No problem! I can work with that - I thought to myself. I called ahead to order my cupcakes (a week prior to expiry). The lady on the phone was dismissive and brusk and told me they cannot take the living social order because "they are booked up". I was surprised about that (as I called well ahead and the money for this deal have already been paid to them). That made no sense to me because they took my money in June, and therefore, you'd imagine they'd honor the deal especially since at that point I was trying to order the cupcakes well ahead of the expiry deadline. Then I figured I'd stop by the store and even if I can't place an order due to their poor business planning and thus get the flavors I really wanted, maybe I can get at least an order to get the cupcakes for the specific date (I've had no problem doing that early in a day at Cupcake Royale or at Trophy). The lady in the house was very rude to me and my husband and even though I was patient, she rudely dismissed me, told me I cannot place the order or get the dozen cupcakes there (even though they haven't sold that many in that day yet), but they will LET me use the cost of the coupon to buy cupcakes at full cost (which meant that I would have to pay them more for getting HALF of my deal - that sounded lovely to me, right? No. Plus, that's WA state law, so "let me"?! please). I tried to explain to them that I was trying to order ahead of time, and if the order can't be fulfilled now, I am willing to use it for a different date. The lady dismissed me, nearly yelling. She said they are all booked up and that even though they have extended the deadline for some customers, that the living social people were procrastinators and that they are all calling at the last minute and that's their faults. (Imagine that? All these people who actually paid your rent in June suddenly want something for their money? How dare they actually want cupcakes?!). I was rather put off by her remarks and was speechless. Then she explained that even though they've extended the deadline to some customers, they can't "just extend it for all" and that it's my fault for trying to order the cupcakes now when they're all booked up. (Lovely that they'd be helpful to some customers - but apparently not to me). I explained to her that I'm willing to be flexible on the date (mind you, I was peeved - I needed them for this weekend, but, hey, I wanted to get my money's worth, even if it meant ordering at Cupcake Royale or Trophy this time around). No, this was my fault, and they're not going to honor my coupon because "I didn't order 48 hours ahead". I explained that I have tried calling a week before, but didn't get through (despite a message). Deaf ears. I then tried to explain that _since I'm at the store 3 days before the deadline and trying to order now and even for a later date - surely this falls into well ahead of their 48 hour order requirement". No, that was not a logical argument. I showed the coupon to her where it clearly stated that the coupon expires on January 22nd and on a separate line it said that you must order 48 hrs ahead of pick up - well heck, I can pick them up in February if needed. Nope, that wouldn't fly either. I was out of options. I left, angry and upset. I tried the next day on the phone. I got the same experience when speaking on the phone the next day. Rude and offensive. Oh, and it's all my fault. At the end, they lost a customer of many years. After reading how many other people had a bad experience with them, we need to complain to Better Business Bureau, as they are frauding people by selling so many deals they never plan to fulfill. And no orders from me ever again.

New York Cupcakes is AMAZING. I love Cupcakes and am always checking out different Bakeries. I immediately find myself wanting to go back to NY Cupcakes. Moist and the frosting is to die for. I'm shocked to see ANY bad reviews. They are always super nice. If someone says they got bad Customer Service here, THEY just plain got up on the wrong side of the bed. The new Store is Darling! Give them a try, you WON'T be sorry! They only thing I'd LOVE now is a shop in Arizona!

I remember the first time I ever came here when my friend and her aunt took me here while we were in bellvue. The first time I tasted the cupcake I was in heaven. The cake was the most moist I have ever had the pleasure of eating and the frosting is to die for. Sometimes I just buy the frosting in the cup and eat it by itself. Thats how delicious it is! Its buttery, soft, rich, and sweet and the best frosting I have ever had on a cake or cupcake or anything for that matter. I also love the whole feel of the place with all the pink and cute things all over the shop. My personal favorite would have to be New York black and white, 5th Ave. , and Cheatn' with chocolate but honestly every cupcake Ive tried from here, which has been almost every flavor, has been fantastic. I have been to about 5 other cupcake places in the area including trophy and still nothing has beat New York cupcakes. I highly recommend this place to anyone!

It wasn't about the cupcakes, as I enjoyed the one I tried at the Wedding Expo earlier this year. THIS IS ABOUT THE SERVICE, and for me, that is quite important. I had a cupcake tasting scheduled for Saturday April 7th. I didn't choose this date out of no where, it was given to me by NY Cupcakes when I called a few months ago. When I called today to give my list of 10 cupcakes we'd like to try, I was caught completely off guard by the lack of service I received. First the very rude woman who answered the phone asked me why I picked their "busiest" weekend to come in for a tasting. Then she proceeds to complain and talk about how she couldn't believe they had a tasting on Saturday with Easter on Sunday. How were they going to get it done when they had other "stuff" to do. What that stuff is, I'm not sure, but I would assume baking cupcakes and trying for sales is part of it - which is why I was going in there to begin with. Finally after grumbling to me she found my appointment and said "OK fine, guess you are scheduled, what do you want?" I start to give her my list and mid sentence she cuts me off to tell me I picked something not on the Saturday list and that they "can't just make a cupcake not on the daily list when they're so busy". Apparently this was all my doing and she wasn't shy about letting me know. If it wasn't directed at me, she was grumbling under her breath the entire phone call. Needless to say the appointment was canceled. It's hard enough and stressful enough to plan a wedding, the last thing anyone needs is to be bitched at because their company scheduled a tasting that they don't like. I wasn't given any other options, I was told they had an opening on April 7th. So I took it. I didn't realize I would be held responsible for ruining their "busy" weekend. I'll take my business elsewhere. With all the choices out there, you'd think they'd be focused on customer service...

The Trophy goes to New York Cupcakes for the most Royale c-cakes this side of the Puget Sound! An accidental coinsure of this delectable delight-- having consumed an array of cupcakes from their infamous competitors --I was about to write this one off as another disappointing establishment that jumped on the cupcake train to satisfy the bridal, birthday, and bar mitzvah bandwagon. From the moment my senses took in the fluffy, moist, melt in your mouth cake topped by a strawberry infused whipped butter cream sensation, I was converted. The difference between New York Cupcakes and the others is a vast as New York City itself. For starters the cake itself lacks the hard as a rock quality the others seem to have. The frosting is light, but admittedly on the sweet side, which could be a drawback for some, however the flavors infused in the butter cream are actually detectable AND natural tasting. There are several cake offerings including a chocolate cake with a shot of espresso, apple cake topped with brown sugar butter cream, and red velvet cake just to name a few. Highlights for me are their breakfast and seasonal items where you can find fresh strawberries cleverly inserted in the middle of a seemingly simple, cute looking cupcake. Their breakfast cupcakes are a novel idea and offer different c-cakes daily with a twist on traditional breakfast items. Their take on a fresh blueberry pancake is a must. Set in a family friendly, retro, whimsical, pink, cupcake paradise, New York Cupcakes stands as great as the statue of liberty itself--a beacon of hope in a mediocre cupcake world.

Beware! they do not cook fresh cupcakes daily ( or that may just be for living social customers?!) picked up my order nearly 2 days early and they had it ready except for one empty cupcake slot! it was not the flavors I asked for but an odd assortment of quite obviously LEFTOVERS!!! aghh this company should be shutdown the servers are rude and offhand and they are obviously deceiving their customers and getting rid of their surplus at the end of the day to liv social customers. I will never return.

Okay, any cupcake that is still moist and tasty four to five days after purchase has my vote. Literally, my sister's bf got the cupcakes on Wednesday and on Sunday I had something Oreo-based and it was still good! I completely expected it to be dried out, but nope. As a side note: Skip the red velvet. Since they only use butter cream for frosting, I don't think it tastes as good.

I've tried other cupcake places, but this one might be my favorite. The cakes were moist but not falling apart, and the frosting was nicely decorated and not too sweet. To top it off, the location is great for me, and the prices are better than some other shops! I also liked how friendly and nice they were when we stopped in the store. We were greeted right away, they offered suggestions when asked, and answered our questions. Buying a 4-pack is a great deal because you're not buying too many, but you save a dollar off of the individual prices still. We tried the Orange Dreamcicle and Central Park Cookies & Cream cupcakes. Both were great, and we can't wait to try our other two! (And to go back and try the Tasty Cake one since that sounds delicious!)

So, my bestie and I went to this event where several local cupcake vendors showcase their stuff, while simultaneously helping out a charity. Translation: Feel good about yourself while you indulge. I'm too selfish to say what the event was, because I don't want it to sell out next year. At any rate, my friend and I had a strategy, so we tasted cupcakes from at least 85% of the vendors. NYC, hands down had the best cupcakes. Regardless of the flavors, they had the best, fluffy, moist cupcakes. Flavor-wise, our favorites were the snickerdoodle and the banana pudding cupcake. Even when we didn't like the flavor, the cake itself, was moist! ***UPDATE*** I've been here several times now, and I have to say, I'm not as impressed as I used to be. The service is always lackluster. But I 'm the kind of person that can overlook mediocre to bad service if the food is good enough. That's just it though. The cupcakes are good enough. The cake is consistently moist and cooked well. However, they're just not that creative. Haven eaten many a cupcakes now, these cupcakes just don't have complex flavors. THe cakes all have a similar taste regardless of what the label says. However, I still like Going to Graceland and the strawberry fields. Otherwise, it's just kind of blah.

This is my favorite cupcake shop in the greater Seattle area. I first heard about it when someone brought these to a baby shower (she braved 520 traffic, driving from Seattle over to Bellevue and back just to pick up these cupcakes). The decorations were adorable, and I was hooked since then. I always buy their day-olds. It's the cupcakes that didn't sell the day before, and they package them and sell them at 50% off. So, you won't get to pick which specific flavors you want (it's usually assorted), but you get a great deal, and the cupcakes still taste great.

Now these are the cupcakes dreams are made of! Moist, fluffy, and the flavors are creative and keep you coming back for more. We first had a caramel apple cupcake around Halloween. I wish they'd bring that one back on a regular basis throughout the year. My only complaint is that they're a bit pricey- but you can get day-old cupcakes for half price. Just as pretty as their competitors- but the flavor and texture of New York Cupcakes does circles around the rest. Well worth the drive to Bellevue!

Probably the best priced place for cupcakes. I don't know what the craze is, but Seattle is in an uproar for these cupcake shops. Maybe I'll open my own soon, but before that, I'll continue to stop into New York Cupcakes. They're cupcakes don't seem to be as big as those I've seen at Cupcake Royale, but I believe the taste here is a lot better. They have a nice variety and plenty on their shelves when you walk in. Their location fits them well in the strip mall and the decor is very "cute." When you walk in, you know you're there to buy cupcakes. Get 6, don't worry, you'll finish them all.

They had some pretty good cupcakes...but nothing very spectacular. Although, their orange-dreamsicle is quite delicious.

Best cupcakes I've ever had, they easily win out over Cupcake Royale. The cupcakes themselves are delicious and moist, and the frosting is thick, rich, and creamy. Every time I go to Crossroads Mall (which is pretty frequently), I make sure to stop by and buy a cupcake. And some of the seasonal cupcakes are pretty interesting. Today, they had a blueberry cupcake. Which was like a blueberry muffin, except in cupcake form. And blueberry frosting. And blueberries to top it off. Maybe a little over the top, but it was just as good as the usual cupcakes. The only downside is the price. $2.75 for a regular cupcake, and $3 for a seasonal cupcake. And they charge an extra fee for all credit card purchases under $5, so I always have to pay in cash. I still say it's worth it though. Also, I don't really understand why people say they have bad service here. I just walk in, choose a cupcake, pay for it, and I'm out. No hassle, no trouble, no rude clerk, just delicious cupcakes.

Decidedly middle of the road. I wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't bowled over either. This seems to be a recurring theme with me lately, can you tell? The cake tastes almost exactly like cakes I make at home (standard disclaimer, I'm a really good baker, so don't let this fool you.) This is both good and bad. It's familiar, but then I get the regret of "for three bucks, I could have done this myself." The frosting is also familiar. I had the Orange Dreamscicle and it was pretty good. My companion had the salted caramel and that was also pretty delish. We sat outside and picked them apart and compared and the only thing I could come up with was familiar. Again, that's not a bad thing. So I say if you're in the mood for a more homemade tasting cupcake, this is the place. If you want gourmet that you'd have no chance of ever making yourself, seek another place. And frosting shots? Yes please. Those were also a great idea. On another note, the staff were super nice. Even when she overhead the comparison notes she seemed pretty amused by it (though I promptly apologized!)

The cupcakes are definitely not worth 3 dollars. I don't know if it's just my taste since there are some good reviews about it but it is too sweet and rich...like if I don't drink milk in 5 seconds I'm going to die. I don't know if that's their marketing strategy in trying to make me buy milk? The cupcakes look better than they taste and they don't actually taste like the flavors. The girl in front was neither friendly nor cold-she just got the business done. The cupcakes are definitely not what I was hoping for the price!

Their sweet potato pie cupcake is AH-MAY-ZEENG! However, with the other ones I tried, I was tasting icing more than cake. The cake was good, though.

With a fancy name like New York Cupcakes, my expectations may have been high. The cupcakes in the display looks very inviting and delicious! I tried the b&w cupcake, the one I had was a bit dry...perhaps it was that particular one. The cupcakes looks better than cupcakes from Cupcake Royale but taste about the same. However, the quality of the NY cupcake is inferior to Trophy.

  • Raina D.

I'm kinda surprised the rating isn't higher. They are good cupcakes, but the prices are pretty steep if you are getting more than one on occasion. Out of Cupcake Royale, Trophy, and New York, I think New York wins by a landslide. The storefront is a little girly... okay a lot girly. Grab your cakes and go!

Four stars because the quality of the cupcakes is OUTSTANDING. Delicious, light fluffy... and not too sweet! My favorite cupcakes! Customer service here is poor, so that knocks ya down a star... ...but I'll deal with it to get a cupcake.

I know yelpers love Trophy - I love Trophy too, but when I was at Crossroads mall yesterday and saw a Cupcake place that I hadn't been to yet on the Eastside - I had to stop by! To have a good basis for a review, I splurged. The mini cupcakes are only $1.25 and you get a price discount with quantity and the regular cupcakes are only $2.75 (I paid $4 when I went to Trophy at the Bravern!) so I got one of each of the mini flavors they had (strawberry, vanilla, chocolate w/ chocolate, and red velvet) and one big one - their S'mores cupcake. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum (yes, a YUM for each star) Each cupcake was very moist and they were super cute. The S'mores one.... omg.... awesome! I figured the marshmellow part was the frosting, but NO! There's a creamy center full of marshmallow goo too! Just the right amount of graham cracker too. I will definitely be back to give these guys my business. :)

I am on the fence here and ready to give a 3.5. I got a small order (18) for a party this weekend. It was Easter, so I know they were busy. I ordered a few days in advance. They said they could do it, but basically chastised me and said that next time I did something like that I needed to give them more time (like I throw my husband a birthday party every week). I couldn't just call them and expect they would always accommodate me. I had never even been in before so immediately my hackles went up and I wanted to just say F this and hang up. However, they are the only cupcakes in Bellevue, so I sucked down their customer service faux pas and made my order. I have to say that the cupcakes did make up for it. I had the Black and White, Mocha and Vanilla and they were all delicious. The frosting is super sweet so you have to be in the mood for that, but it also had a nice slightly salty flavor that was very craveable. The cake was moist and over all super yummy. I would say that my local cupcake rating would go: 1. Cupcake Royale 2. Trophy 3. NY Cupcakes So, would I order for another party? Eeeh, maybe. I just expect some better service if I am going to spend a chunk of cash somewhere Would I stop in if I were in Bellevue for the afternoon? Sure

Best cupcakes in the area. We have several April birthdays in my family so I was making a lot of trips to different cupcake retailers (including Cupcake Royale) and I'm SO glad I stumbled upon this place. Not only are their cupcakes unique in taste and decoration but they are also beautiful. You almost don't even want to eat them. But then you do. I am not a fan of frosting, never have been. It's why I don't like cake. But their frosting is something else, I had a Soho Strawberry cupcake there the other day and the frosting tasted like REAL strawberries. I was blown away. These cupcakes are delicious and I would definitely recommend!

Everything a little cupcake place should be. This place is lovely and so charming. The cupcakes themselves are moist and the right amount of sweet without being over-sweet. Their selection has enough for everyone to be happy. I liked the lemon and raspberry one I tried. I love their breakfast cupcake option that comes with a cup of coffee.

More and more cupcakes!!!!! ;p Because of Jennifer l.'s review I've decided to try this cupcake joint. I must say it is delicious!!!! I'm not a trophys betrader but I do have 2 say that it tastes better than trophys. (Sorry trophys). You see I remember the love at first sight with trophys but new york cupcake has got the best of me. This place is wicked cute and girly. I love their interior decoration, it makes me feel like an elementary schoolgirl all over agains. They are a little pricey but I cannot complain about the yummy cupcakes. The staff is good, their friendly and have great smiles! I'm always looking forward for smiles!!! I've purchased the 6 pack for $15.00 and it was worth every penny! 2 strawberry soho- so good!!! 1 vanilla bean- I'm not a fan of vanilla but this one won my heart over for the vanilla family. 1 red velvet-moist n delicious 1 oreo- this one is to die for, I shoved this one in my faceeee! 1 smores-omg, so yummy! Good cupcakes and could not complain about the extra pound I put on because it was worth every savory taste!!!!

The shop is adorable and my friends love their PBJ cupcakes but negative points for copping an attitude when we: 1) asked if they made sugar-free cupcakes 2) tried to compliment her retro pink fridge 3) asked if there was a particular day she made the PBJ cupcakes Perhaps the store name is indicative that one might receive a bit of the stereotypical New York attitude with the cupcake? In short, a nice place to grab dessert when you're out enjoying a retail therapy day at crossroads but don't expect counter person to be as sweet as their baked goods.

I went this weekend and tried to pay with my American Express. It is posted that they accept the card. However, the cashier told me they don't like to take AMX for purchases under $30. The most expensive cupcake is $3.50! I didn't appreciate that. If you don't want to take a credit card, don't post that you accept it.

This was the first place I ever bought cupcakes so I used to be excited about it! But after experiencing what other places have to offer, I must say this is my least favorite cupcake place. The cakes and frosting are too thick and sugary! I had cotton mouth after eating half of the cake! Ick.

My first review, hooray! Anyway. I love this place and I am not much of a cake fan. I'll take other sweets over cake, but these cupcakes...well, I get cravings for them. And so many flavors! I've tried probably 10 of the flavors, and yes, there's more! My favorites are probably the Salted Carmel, the lemon one, and the peanut butter one. Also, I'm not usually a big cake fan because most cake ends up being either way too dry or way too dense. These cupcakes are incredibly moist and taste delicious! Perfect. The frosting doesn't seem to be as sweet as other cupcake places (Trophy, I'm looking at you). The service here always seems to be patient (I like to look at the pretty things!) and helpful everytime I come in. Fairly cheerful, too. So, to sum it up, I'm a fan and I'll keep coming back because the price is right, the cupcake is tasty (!!) AND pretty, and the customer service is just as it should be. Even if it's out of my way, I still keep coming back to New York Cupcakes.

Best Cupcakes in Seattle! My Mom, Aunt, Grandma and I did a cupcake taste test - we went to Trophy Cupcakes, Cupcake Royale, and NY Cupcakes all in one afternoon...which led to a mini food coma. NY Cupcakes was by far the best...the cake is moist the frosting is to die for and there are so many different flavor options. I can't wait to try the Cookie Dough Cupcake when we do our cake tasting for my wedding!

Decided to try this place out. Bought half a dozen for my family. Ended up throwing a couple away after they sat on the table for a few days. They looked great, but tasted like cupcakes from Safeway. The frosting was ok, but again, nothing special. I'll stick with Royale's cupcakes, which never seem to last more than a few hours.

    (2)
  • Ron M.

My friend recently moved back from NYC and had mentioned that cupcakes are big over there. She was intrigued when we walked by New York Cupcake a couple of weekends ago. I can say that we were a little disappointed afterwards. My co-worker mentioned that Safeway cupcakes were better. I had to purge this experience later in the week by picking up my favorite chocolate cupcake at Pasta & Co. I totally agree with Bradford C's and Sarah B's review.

Boy, it seems like people either love or hate this place. I think it's all right. I first visited NY Cupcakes when they were located in Bel Square several years ago, and thought the cupcakes were pretty good, if expensive. This was before the cupcake craze really took off, and now I think there are other cupcake shops that I like better, but this one is still decent if I happen to be up by Bellevue Crossroads where they are now located. Their half price boxes of day old cupcakes are a great bargain, but does mean you are stuck with whatever flavors happen to be in that particular box. My last cupcake was a fudge cake with some sort of creamy white mint frosting and it was quite tasty, especially paired with some ice cream.

Nummers! I found the cakes very moist and the frostings lighter and fluffier than Trophy or Cupcake Royale, but with just as much flavor. We got a variety of flavors, and despite being a chocophile, the lemon frosting with coconut was really my favorite. Lightly sweet, just enough tartness, and a good balance with the white cake. The interior is cute and girly (typically not my thing, but I appreciate the adhesion to a theme), and both of the women working there were friendly and prompt. I was also impressed with how polite and well-behaved the customers' kids were. I probably would have been uncontrollable in a store like this when I was 6! $2.50-2.75/cupcake is standard around here, and even though I think it's a bit spendy for one cupcake, it's worth being able to pick up several different flavors rather than trying to bake and decorate a variety myself.

  • Jocelyn A.

I thought the cupcakes were moist and the frosting was very light and fluffy. The frosting is sweet but they don't put too much on so it is not overwhelming. My biggest complaint is that they only have chocolate and vanilla (oh and red velvet) cake, just different flavored frostings. The Boston Cream pie was my favorite. The custard in the middle was perfect, just like a real Boston Cream pie.

Totally appalled to see this amazing place has such a low rating - even worse to know its low only because of customer service issues!! NY cupcakes is the best - in fact, if we are in the area from Tacoma we will stop by and get our fix! We love the frosting (its the best) and the flavor selections! ADORE.

I live in Washington D.C. - home of Georgetown Cupcake, Sprinkles and the very best, Baked and Wired cupcakes. These are right up there with the best. Better than Georgetown Cupcake and Sprinkles, in my opinion. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I have had cupcakes in New York (including those at the famed Magnolia Bakery) and New York Cupcakes in Bellevue kicks the butt of any those. The cake is light, flavorful and moist. I had a deliciously rich Red Velvet (chocolate) cupcake and tried my boyfriend's Strawberry one (which has vanilla cake and strawberry frosting). Both were creamy and amazing. But the best part by far is the frosting. It is light as a feather, and you can taste the high-quality butter they use. Mmmm... They sell "frosting shots" (little cups of frosting) for a dollar. Very tempting. They have a multitude of flavors, from butterscotch to passion fruit and everything inbetween. The cupcakes are beautiful little works of edible art, and the shop itself is a girl's dream come true: pink EVERYWHERE, even a pink fridge! (how do I get my hands on one of those?) New York cupcakes opened (or re-opened) fairly recently; when we moved here in June of '08 it did not exist, then it suddenly was there, between Blockbuster and Common Goods in Crossroads. After reading previous reviews, I can only surmise that it is under new management because our service was prompt, polite and perky. Even the girl who helped us looked straight out of an Alice and Wonderland tea party (and I mean that in a good way). Pure perfection. We will definitely be back. The only off-putting aspect is the price: $2.75 per cupcake. But is that really so much for a bit of heaven? They do sell day-old goods at a discount. I also worry about this little gem in the current economy. If you have a craving, come here for cupcakes!

BEST CUPCAKES IN THE AREA! On accident, I stumbled across this adorable pink confection of a cupcake cafe. These cupcakes had it all going on- moist cake and perfect frosting. They sell minis so you can sample a few different flavors if you like. All the cupcakes were good, but the white on white and the red velvet were standouts. I also bought a cute glittery cupcake magnet. This place makes you feel like a 5 year old Princess. Is that a bad thing? I think not!

The cupcakes are allright. They're good. The frosting is very unique. It's whipped and looks beautiful on the cupcakes. However, the frosting is VERY sweet. I love sweet thick buttercream frostings, and this is even too sweet for me sometimes. The best is the peanut butter and jelly. Seriously. Their webiste has a section where you can see what flavors they offer each day. Go on a day when they have the peanut butter and jelly! The frosting shots are amazing! They are only $1 and it's a good way to see what frostings you'd like for your future cupcakes. The cake part of New York Cupcake is the best part. It's sweet (sweeter than anywhere else I've tried) but it's soooo good. Sometimes I go in during the day around 11 or 12 and I have to wait awhile for someone to come help me. That's the only reason I'm not giving New York Cupcake 4 stars. That, and you have to spend $5 to use a debit/credit card. Sometimes I only want 1 cupcake and happen to have no cash, so I either have to get 2 cupcakes or go somewhere else first and get cash. That is annoying.

Mmmmmm. I stopped in to New York Cupcakes (in Crossroads) today after lunch needing a sugar fix. The smell upon walking in was enough to satisfy me! The store itself is cute and retro - black, white, and pink!! The case was full of about ten different choices. I selected the Boston Cream and a chocolate cupcake that was topped off with a chocolate truffle!! Both were excellent, moist and spongy. Not too crumbly. The frosting was sweet and tasted like chocolate silk. Smooth and wonderful. I loved them both. The ratio of frosting to cupcake was good. Enough to get a good bite of frosting on every forkful, but not too much that we wanted to scrape some off. As compared with the prices of the Seattle cupcake stores, NYC was cheaper. And I think that $2.75 for a cupcake that two girlfriends can split is completely reasonable. My friend and I decided that we needed to have a blind taste test to determine cupcake supremacy. Stay tuned.

Prior to entering the store, I hadn't heard much about this chain before from anyone I knew. I ended up buying a variety of cupcakes from here for myself and others, and was really impressed. The cupcakes were moist and the frosting was really good too. I'd definitely recommend this place!

I am a fiend for cake therefore cupcakes are my drug of choice. I have tried them all throughout Seattle and I gotta say, New York Cupcakes reign supreme. Why? Because the cake is the most moist (moistest?) you will ever find. The frosting, okay, it's copious and if you haven't figured out frosting is the best thing in life go visit a preschool classroom eating cupcakes for some kid's birthday and rediscover Truth. The frosting at NY cupcakes is not sweet, is not shortening laden, is not grainy--it is fluffy, melty frosting goodness. The flavors are brilliant and creative. I'm a fan of chocolate and peanut butter--they nailed that cupcake--who knew cake could be SO GOOD!? The customer service has always been attentive yet given me space to drool on my own a bit before chosing a singular cupcake. I appreciate their patience for exactly one cupcake. They know they're selling happiness in a little paper wrapper and I like that!

I purchased a Living Social deal to New York Cupcakes and as per the terms of the deal, I had to place my order 48 hours in advance of pick up. When I called to place my order, the lady was extremely rude and said that they had imposed an ordering freeze for those customers with the Living Social voucher because they couldn't keep up with demand. Also, she said that they had made an allowance for 200 customers and extended the voucher redemption. New York Cupcakes never once sent out an email to those customers who purchased the deal informing them about their poor planning to anticipate demand. If I had received this email, I would have ordered sooner. Also, extending for some customers and not all customers isn't fair. I think that failure to honor terms of a deal is poor customer service and I will definitely not go to New York Cupcakes. I was very excited to try their cupcakes but now, I don't really care because of the poor customer service. My review is strictly based on the ordering, redemption process and customer service and not the cupcakes.

I love boutique cupcake shops, but I've NEVER been a frosting person, ever, even as a kid. I'd take my girls to the cupcake shops, and it took me a while to even try one... thinking I'd gag on frosting. Hints: Go to their website, and check their menu before going to time your trip with your tastes. Cupcakes change daily. Sadly, don't expect a seat here... only a couple of tables... as cute as it is in there. The pinkest little shop. TRY: The cookie dough cupcake (chocolate chip cookie inside MOIST chocolate cake)- everyone's instant favorite. I thought my daughter was over the top when she first tried it, but, turns out... wow, try it, you'll see! The vanilla is soooooo good (I know vanilla sounds boring, but it's not at this shop- you'll see vanilla beans). A delicious surprise was also the Queen Bee- YUMMY topping and cake. We bring cupcakes to my daughter's teachers every once in a while. I get that $3 a cupcake is expensive compared to homemade, BUT as a here and there present... It's actually a very inexpensive $3 surprise to brighten someone's day. All of the teachers over the years have LOVED the cookie dough cupcake. We like this shop and Trophy's cupcakes. Cupcakes NEED to be moist and flavorful, both New York and Trophy deliver. I hate hard, overly sweet frosting, and both New York and Trophy truly taste gourmet... (Try Trophy's coconut and also snickerdoodle) Cupcake Royale is very well marketed, and the interior is more rock and roll than girly New York Cupcakes, but WHO calls Cupcake Royale moist??? I've been there several times, and every cupcake tastes like a grocery store cupcake gone stale. It's too bad. I like their space, pins and t shirts, etc, but they're cupcakes are awful.

I used my Groupon the other day on my birthday! I had a pleasant experience. I followed the rules in the Groupon as listed and have been enjoying my dozen ever since! The owners mom and another very nice lady were working and were super sweet. As for the cupcakes themselves, they moist, tasty, and very beautiful. Thank you New York Cupcakes for helping to make my birthday special.

Like everyone here has mentioned, I have noticed how the owner's demeanor can be a bit of a turn off at times. I have seen her give a cupcake to someone who was visibly financially struggling (seattle pc speak)though one time and I thought that was really, really kind. I also love their cupcakes too much that I can't help but give them business. Royale is good, Trophy is really good but there's something nostalgic about NY cupcakes and I'm sold. There are people who have the coffee shop, butcher etc they remain loyal to. I'm loyal to NY cupcakes (soho strawberry in particular)! Update on customer service: I went earlier today for the day olds and I saw the owner arranging the store but also noticed that they hired someone new and she did a really great job. Please keep whoever was at the store earlier today around lunch time, she had a great demeanor and was extremely friendly.

The icing made me giddy. It's fluffy and has a lightness almost like whipped cream. In the mouth, it kind of melts into fluid and finishes with a slight hint of saltiness. The cake is a bit of a snore but moist enough. It has a smaller crumb than, say, Trophy Cupcake. The flavors do not surprise or offend. While offering ten different varieties, they all seem basically the same with slight variants in color and flavor. Overall, the cupcakes are very solid and their appeal depends on whether you like your icing more like butter or more like whipped cream.

I went to the NYCupcakes at Crossroad's, actually, and the service was just fine. The cupcake varieties are kind of boring, but I ended up getting the s'mores one and a vanilla. They aren't too bad, really... better than Cupcake Royale for sure, because the cake is moist and the frosting isn't overly sweet... but I've had better (like Sugar Rush). They have too much frosting, and the flavor isn't outstanding... but they'd do in a cupcake crunch

We thought it would be fun to order a dozen cupcakes for my Mom and brother's birthdays since they're so close together. We were told by the older woman there that we could special order any design we wanted. We asked for a zombie for my brother. It took them 4 DAYS to get back to us, just to tell us that they couldn't do it! ( A Zombie? really? How hard could that be?) Instead she suggested a sugar scull with worms...we agreed. It cost $40!!! We were told it might be a dollar or two more than the $30 cost. When my father went to pick it up he said he was ignored by two employees taking to ONE woman. He also said they were rude. My Mom asked for two six packs when ordering, we got one dozen. It made it difficult to tell which cupcakes were which, especially since they WEREN'T what we ordered!!! The messed up two of the cupcakes and gave us two we didn't order, THEN the designs were terrible! We thought maybe the taste would make up for it, but they weren't anything special. I could have made better. I should have, it would have cost about $30 less. Yes the decor at the shop is cute, but don't be fooled, that's all you're paying for.
